- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey, guys, welcome to the Almost Famous podcast breaking news episode.
- 0:11Speaker 2: We can finally say it's safe to say that the
- 0:14Speaker 2: Bachelorette will not be happening this year. They are going
- 0:17Speaker 2: to skip a season for now, That's what it seems like.
- 0:20Speaker 2: So I had to have two bachelorettes on me on
- 0:23Speaker 2: with me to talk about this news. We have Tristi
- 0:26Speaker 2: Sutter and Rachel Rekia. Hey, guys, what was your initial
- 0:32Speaker 2: take to this?
- 0:33Speaker 3: Well, first of all, I was shocked because I heard
- 0:36Speaker 3: they picked the lead. I heard the lead was like decided,
- 0:42Speaker 3: and it made sense to me who they picked again rumors,
- 0:46Speaker 3: And then all of a sudden, I saw this on Instagram,
- 0:51Speaker 3: like really, like we hear stuff on the inside, I
- 0:54Speaker 3: didn't hear anything.
- 0:55Speaker 2: So Ben told us, I want to say, two weeks
- 0:58Speaker 2: ago we were about to record an episode. I think
- 1:00Speaker 2: he was with wells Or around that time, and he goes, so, guys,
- 1:03Speaker 2: guess what, like I heard that the Bachelorette's not happening.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Because sorry, Ben, if you didn't want me to tell
- 1:10Speaker 2: you to tell this part, but he said, because those
- 1:13Speaker 2: that housewives show the Mormon Housewives, which is different than
- 1:16Speaker 2: like the Umbrella, you know, the Bravo Housewives. Because that's
- 1:19Speaker 2: doing so well, they're going to use the Bachelorette time
- 1:22Speaker 2: slot because it's the same demographic. Yeah, so the same
- 1:26Speaker 2: people are watching that, but it's getting it's doing so
- 1:29Speaker 2: well on Hulu that it did so well on Hulu
- 1:32Speaker 2: the first season that they brought it to air after
- 1:36Speaker 2: the Bachelorette. Current The Bachelor currently on Monday nights at
- 1:39Speaker 2: ten pm, and now they're going to use the normal
- 1:43Speaker 2: Bachelorette time slot for Mormon Wives. Trista, Wow.
- 1:51Speaker 4: You know, honestly, I'm not that shocked because I feel
- 1:58Speaker 4: like we kind of mentioned it before where we got
- 2:00Speaker 4: on the before we started recording, and it's basically they
- 2:04Speaker 4: find another show to replace it, and they've got so
- 2:07Speaker 4: many shows in the bucket currently that I feel like,
- 2:12Speaker 4: you know, with Bachelor in Paradise coming back, I assume
- 2:15Speaker 4: that's correct, and then with the Golden Stuff, I feel
- 2:20Speaker 4: like I wasn't shocked when I heard The Bachelor. Well,
- 2:24Speaker 4: I was a little bit shocked when I heard The
- 2:25Speaker 4: Bachelorne Paradise wasn't coming back, because I felt like it
- 2:28Speaker 4: did there well yeah, yeah, exactly last year. So I
- 2:32Speaker 4: wasn't shocked then, and it's I'm kind of in the
- 2:35Speaker 4: same I'm in the same boat right now with Bachelorette.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Like if there's you know, they've got Golden Bachelor Bachelorette,
- 2:43Speaker 4: and they've got Bachelor and Paradise coming back supposedly, so
- 2:47Speaker 4: maybe they're just gonna, you know, take a short little
- 2:52Speaker 4: break for summer with Bachelorette. And I'm not taking it
- 2:57Speaker 4: as it's going away forever, like I feel like some
- 3:00Speaker 4: people probably are taking it as it's going away forever
- 3:03Speaker 4: or might not ever come back. But I guess I
- 3:06Speaker 4: just since I was the first to you know, be
- 3:11Speaker 4: on it and it's stuck around for over twenty years
- 3:14Speaker 4: that I'm like, it's not going away. If you know,
- 3:18Speaker 4: it would have gone away earlier if it didn't, I
- 3:20Speaker 4: don't know.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I thought that there was a pause in it in
- 3:23Speaker 2: the mid two thousands.
- 3:25Speaker 4: You're right, Like, I mean, I'm talking about big picture,
- 3:28Speaker 4: it hasn't gone away like it's come like if it's
- 3:31Speaker 4: taken a break, it's come back. And so I guess
- 3:34Speaker 4: I just don't. I I've been with the show for
- 3:37Speaker 4: so long that I just feel like it's not going
- 3:40Speaker 4: to go away forever. Maybe it will someday, but I
- 3:43Speaker 4: don't know if this is the time.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Basically, they have too much on their docker right now
- 3:47Speaker 2: once they've added the Golden Bachelor to the franchise, Like
- 3:51Speaker 2: four shows a year is too much. So last year
- 3:54Speaker 2: they took out Paradise and this year they're going to
- 3:56Speaker 2: take out Bachelorette, and I guess it'll just kind of
- 3:59Speaker 2: be a wait and see to which one which way
- 4:02Speaker 2: works out best for them.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Writings wise, is Golden that well?
- 4:07Speaker 2: I didn't. I don't think that Golden Bachelorette did spectacular,
- 4:12Speaker 2: So I think they're just probably going to try this
- 4:14Speaker 2: cycle and then we'd one out. It would be really
- 4:18Speaker 2: weird long term if the Bachelorette is what they weed out.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Agree they need it for Paradise, Like you have to
- 4:26Speaker 3: have the continuous cycle for Paradise to work. Which I
- 4:29Speaker 3: feel like Paradise is their best show, not last season,
- 4:33Speaker 3: not the last one they did traditionally it does.
- 4:36Speaker 2: The best well, not writings wise, but it seems like
- 4:39Speaker 2: in the fandom's opinion, it's what they prefer to watch.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's so true. They need it for for Paradise.
- 4:51Speaker 4: They have to have they have to have Bachelor, and
- 4:53Speaker 4: they have to have Bachelorette unless they're going to do
- 4:55Speaker 4: a Golden Paradise, which I don't see.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Oh my god, can.
- 4:59Speaker 2: You imagine We're gonna have to like dive back into
- 5:03Speaker 2: that time during the mid two thousands where they continue
- 5:06Speaker 2: The Bachelor but didn't do the Bachelor atte for a while.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Figure out how long it was without Does anybody have
- 5:12Speaker 2: any I'm talking to producers right now, but do we
- 5:14Speaker 2: have any insight on this season's ratings? Did they make
- 5:18Speaker 2: this decision final because of the premiere? I think it
- 5:23Speaker 2: was before the premiere that this was something talked about
- 5:26Speaker 2: amongst the higher ups, because Ben seemed to know before
- 5:29Speaker 2: this season permiered that this was something that they were considering.
- 5:32Speaker 2: We do have a little info from our executive podcast
- 5:36Speaker 2: producer right here. She said that the whole team found
- 5:39Speaker 2: out Friday. There's lots of uncertainty, a lot of crew
- 5:43Speaker 2: out of work because an entirely new team is doing
- 5:47Speaker 2: Paradise and the future of the Golden Show is to
- 5:52Speaker 2: be determined. They are still running those ads for casting,
- 5:55Speaker 2: but nothing is set and stone. So does anybody think
- 6:01Speaker 2: that this is the beginning of the end, Like, no,
- 6:05Speaker 2: it can't be.
- 6:06Speaker 3: No, it's like crazy to believe. But I did hear,
- 6:10Speaker 3: like because obviously I hear the Paradise rumor mill, like
- 6:13Speaker 3: people are starting to get that call, and yeah, I
- 6:16Speaker 3: know it's like none of our producers are going to
- 6:19Speaker 3: be there. Wow, I can't even imagine filming and like
- 6:25Speaker 3: just having a whole new team, Like it's going to
- 6:27Speaker 3: be a completely different show.
- 6:28Speaker 2: You wouldn't have the relationship with those producers going into Paradise,
- 6:32Speaker 2: which makes I mean that makes the interviews knowing those
- 6:37Speaker 2: people being so comfortable.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't imagine going to parent. I don't think
- 6:42Speaker 3: I would go if it was.
- 6:44Speaker 2: All I will tell you that, Like the main reason
- 6:49Speaker 2: that I went the first time was because I was like,
- 6:51Speaker 2: oh my gosh, I get to hang out with my
- 6:52Speaker 2: friends again. And a majority of those friends, I would say,
- 6:56Speaker 2: was producer's side, Like I just wanted that family back.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that makes total sense.
- 7:03Speaker 3: The location, new team. I mean, I think the cast
- 7:07Speaker 3: is going to be really good obviously because we have
- 7:09Speaker 3: like a couple of seasons built up. But yeah, I
- 7:12Speaker 3: feel like either it's going to do like really really
- 7:14Speaker 3: really well and then we'll go from there or maybe
- 7:17Speaker 3: it is. I hope it's not the beginning of the end,
- 7:20Speaker 3: but it is scary.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah, any final thoughts, y'all.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Are you guys watching the Mormon Show?
- 7:37Speaker 3: Have I actually really like it? I watch I watched
- 7:42Speaker 3: last season. It's interesting. Do I think he could go
- 7:45Speaker 3: on for more than like three seasons? I don't know.
- 7:49Speaker 3: They're really really messy, like they continue to have drama,
- 7:52Speaker 3: like even off season. They post about it on TikTok.
- 7:56Speaker 3: So I think the fact that they have the off
- 7:59Speaker 3: season where they're still like a lot of interest.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I don't know, Rachel, I just feel like it was
- 8:06Speaker 2: really juicy when you said that they had already picked
- 8:08Speaker 2: the bachelorette. So this seems like a ratings thing.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I know, again, like we all hear so much, but
- 8:17Speaker 3: I heard this it was like two months ago.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Oh, that they picked her, like right off the finale.
- 8:25Speaker 3: They knew who it was going.
- 8:26Speaker 4: To be after they filmed grants. Yeah, after they finished
- 8:30Speaker 4: filming you mean they were they knew exactly who they
- 8:33Speaker 4: were going to do.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I heard that. I heard a name, Okay, and I
- 8:37Speaker 3: heard from someone who usually like knows, like normally it's
- 8:41Speaker 3: a good source, but I don't know. So maybe it
- 8:44Speaker 3: is a ratings thing and maybe we'll just see her
- 8:46Speaker 3: come back next year. And hopefully that's what it is.
- 8:49Speaker 2: We have heard room Ben has heard. Okay, hold on,
- 8:53Speaker 2: Ben has heard rumors of the ending of this. I
- 8:57Speaker 2: don't even think he knows who, like the two women
- 8:59Speaker 2: are at the end of this, and we know that
- 9:01Speaker 2: there will be two because we know that Grant has
- 9:03Speaker 2: to like has that dramatic decision the last day where
- 9:05Speaker 2: he like doesn't even know the day of. So that's
- 9:08Speaker 2: not a spoiler. But if Ben's what Ben has heard
- 9:12Speaker 2: about the finale is true, you would think there would
- 9:17Speaker 2: be issue in for Bachelorette like that the audience might
- 9:23Speaker 2: get really annoyed. Yeah, that it's not number two, got it.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I personally really enjoy it when it's the runner up,
- 9:29Speaker 3: like Joey, Like, I love that because I know so
- 9:32Speaker 3: much about them, I'm so invested in them.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so totally hopefully.
- 9:38Speaker 4: I would love to know ratings wise. Is so they're
- 9:42Speaker 4: talking about, you know, not doing Bachelorette because ratings are bad?
- 9:47Speaker 4: Is that what you're saying on Grant season?
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yeah? I mean I can't remember I think I think
- 9:52Speaker 2: Grand Season might be the worst of all seasons. Really, Yeah,
- 9:56Speaker 2: because Joey's spiked again. Joey seems like he is the
- 10:00Speaker 2: savior of the franchise, right, they didn't they didn't keep
- 10:04Speaker 2: it afloat.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Or although Golden started with it and then he started
- 10:09Speaker 4: with it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's interesting to me because
- 10:14Speaker 4: I feel like people are talking. I mean, I'm drawn in,
- 10:18Speaker 4: Like I feel like there are multiple people who have
- 10:20Speaker 4: said I wasn't going to watch the show, but now
- 10:24Speaker 4: I am because I actually like it.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 10:26Speaker 4: That's interesting to me that the ratings aren't great, but
- 10:29Speaker 4: they always change, like people like grow, you know, like
- 10:33Speaker 4: get invested as they watch, and I feel like it
- 10:36Speaker 4: grows more and more as the season goes on. So
- 10:39Speaker 4: it's that's shocking to me that they would already make
- 10:42Speaker 4: a decision based on ratings.
- 10:44Speaker 3: But isn't the first like Night one? Isn't that always
- 10:47Speaker 3: Night one in the last.
- 10:48Speaker 2: One or Night one and the last one are usually
- 10:51Speaker 2: the highest.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and if Night one already is starting off, like,
- 10:56Speaker 3: I don't know who's watching this season, I haven't really
- 10:59Speaker 3: heard much. I just started, But I mean I like
- 11:03Speaker 3: it from what I've seen, but it could also be
- 11:05Speaker 3: a thing again, right, I don't feel like I was
- 11:07Speaker 3: as invested in grant story.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, because we didn't know him beforehand. Maybe they need
- 11:13Speaker 2: maybe they need to stop picking people that weren't in
- 11:15Speaker 2: the top three.
- 11:17Speaker 3: I agree, that's my opinion.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Also, I know what's happened before in a wonderful way
- 11:23Speaker 2: aka Hannah Brown was an exception to the rule. But
- 11:27Speaker 2: let's be real, it's an exception to the rules.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I feel like every time they've taken like someone who
- 11:33Speaker 3: didn't even make it to hometowns, no one really watched.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I guess Matt Jane's season was different too.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Matt season was a little different I Grant.
- 11:44Speaker 4: It's funny that you say that, because I've always had
- 11:47Speaker 4: the opposite idea, is that I've always wanted them to
- 11:51Speaker 4: pluck someone out of obscurity. And I think that is
- 11:54Speaker 4: part of why The Golden was so popular, is because
- 11:59Speaker 4: we all felt in love with Gary from this from
- 12:04Speaker 4: the start, and no one knew him, you know, And
- 12:08Speaker 4: so I feel like that was really popular. And maybe
- 12:12Speaker 4: it was just because it was new and exciting, and
- 12:15Speaker 4: you know, they obviously have this different storyline, but it
- 12:21Speaker 4: would be interesting to see because I agree with you,
- 12:24Speaker 4: the top three are the people who you're most invested in.
- 12:28Speaker 4: But at the same time, I'm like, well, what about
- 12:30Speaker 4: the flip side of somebody who nobody knows but we
- 12:33Speaker 4: all get to fall in love with them together?
- 12:35Speaker 2: I don't know, Okay, So so let's talk about ratings.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I finally found it on the internet. It looks as
- 12:41Speaker 2: if and I'm not a Nielsen expert, but it looks
- 12:43Speaker 2: like it was down twenty percent from Joey season with
- 12:48Speaker 2: two point seven million viewers watching, and then the following
- 12:52Speaker 2: week they dropped to two point three million, So half
- 12:57Speaker 2: a million almost dropped off. Wow, between the premiere and
- 13:01Speaker 2: the second week.
- 13:03Speaker 3: How does that compare to Zach's season? Though, Like, obviously
- 13:06Speaker 3: Joey we know that. Spike was like, Yeah, when was
- 13:09Speaker 3: last time we had viewers like that? I wonder if
- 13:12Speaker 3: it's similar to Zach And it just looks like it's
- 13:15Speaker 3: going down. But then again the second episode, that's.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Bad, Yeah for sure, Okay, and then we finally want
- 13:23Speaker 2: to talk about just people losing their jobs. That's just
- 13:27Speaker 2: really sucky and really sad because we may know some
- 13:30Speaker 2: of these people and what's the reason for hiring a
- 13:34Speaker 2: new team to do Paradise like it just seems sloppy
- 13:38Speaker 2: and really really unfortunate. That's very sad.
- 13:44Speaker 4: I hate to think about people that we all know
- 13:49Speaker 4: losing their jobs, you know.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Yeah, especially once they it's like a way of life.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, they've gotten into this like you know,
- 13:57Speaker 4: cycle of doing whatever shows on and and maybe they
- 14:02Speaker 4: want to break who knows. Yeah, if some of them
- 14:06Speaker 4: like actually are overworked, you know, in a way, not overworked,
- 14:10Speaker 4: because I'm sure they wouldn't overwork them, but they're just
- 14:13Speaker 4: really tired because they're constantly traveling and you know, the
- 14:17Speaker 4: days are long, and so maybe that's what they're factoring in.
- 14:22Speaker 4: I don't know, but I do I would want them
- 14:25Speaker 4: to have the opportunity to have a job instead of
- 14:28Speaker 4: just you know, lose it outright, Yeah, make it be
- 14:32Speaker 4: them their choice.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Right in a month before they thought they'd be going
- 14:36Speaker 2: for a whole of the round. All right, ladies, Well,
- 14:40Speaker 2: thank you so much for joining me for this breaking news,
- 14:43Speaker 2: this sad, breaking news, but also in my head, not
- 14:47Speaker 2: super surprising. We will find out more soon, and of
- 14:51Speaker 2: course we'll keep you updated year with the news and
- 14:53Speaker 2: our opinions. On it until next time I've been Ashley Sea.
