- 0:09Speaker 1: Now back to the Marximo Show on WOOR. Well, Charlie
- 0:14Speaker 1: Gasprino is the best business reporter around. You can read
- 0:19Speaker 1: also his great column His columns are all on the
- 0:21Speaker 1: New York Post website. You should follow him on Twitter.
- 0:24Speaker 1: He's one of the best to reacts. He's one of
- 0:26Speaker 1: the best exors tweeters out there. And I urge you
- 0:30Speaker 1: to get his latest book, Go Woke, Go Broke. It's
- 0:33Speaker 1: a very important book. Go Woke, Go Broke. Go to
- 0:36Speaker 1: Amazon order it right now. Charlie Gasparino, how are you doing?
- 0:41Speaker 2: How you doing? Mark?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Very good? So your friend mom Donnie there, did you
- 0:45Speaker 1: hear that crazy thing he said.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I don't think that we should have billionaires.
- 0:49Speaker 1: We shouldn't have billionaires. So what you know, all these billionaires,
- 0:54Speaker 1: how are they going to get through four years of
- 0:55Speaker 1: this guy?
- 0:59Speaker 2: You know, I don't know. I mean half of me
- 1:01Speaker 2: thinks that they're just going to leave and as they've
- 1:07Speaker 2: been as not just billionaires. But remember, you know, the
- 1:10Speaker 2: tax base is comprised of a lot of people that
- 1:13Speaker 2: do well not quite billionaires, and they're just finding it
- 1:18Speaker 2: much more affordable not to be New York City residents.
- 1:21Speaker 2: And that's been going on since twenty twenty and it
- 1:24Speaker 2: continues to stay. So remember or you know, when you
- 1:30Speaker 2: talk about billionaires, they do have theoretically the money to
- 1:33Speaker 2: pay some of these taxes. I mean, they're billionaires, right.
- 1:36Speaker 2: The real problem here is that's why I'm you know, this,
- 1:40Speaker 2: this debate is a little bit skewed because the reality
- 1:44Speaker 2: of the New York City, what Mondami's doing, what they
- 1:46Speaker 2: do in Albany, and what they've been doing for years,
- 1:49Speaker 2: you know, since mainly since George the Tacki left Albany
- 1:56Speaker 2: has been essentially focusing on the sort of the vast
- 2:03Speaker 2: middle of the wealthy population, people who make anywhere between
- 2:07Speaker 2: one hundred thousand dollars a year, which isn't really wealthy
- 2:11Speaker 2: in the Northeast anywhere from that to you know, several
- 2:14Speaker 2: million dollars a year, that's the sort of prime real
- 2:18Speaker 2: estate for taxing. And those people just get crushed in
- 2:22Speaker 2: this city and in the state. And what when Dami's
- 2:26Speaker 2: doing is kind of changing the subject. Oh, you know,
- 2:28Speaker 2: these billionaires don't want to pay for you know, an
- 2:31Speaker 2: extra house in Manhattan. It's not really that. I mean,
- 2:35Speaker 2: you know, that's not great policy, but put that aside.
- 2:39Speaker 2: The tax. I mean, it's really those people that pay
- 2:42Speaker 2: most of taxes are in that range that I told you,
- 2:45Speaker 2: and they're getting slaughtered in the city and state and
- 2:48Speaker 2: they continue to get slaughtered because people like Mandami and
- 2:51Speaker 2: you know, the governors. You know, I mean, listen, Andrew
- 2:55Speaker 2: Croma would have been a better alternative to my doctor.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Don't know. Oh oh, come on, well, no bail, no jail.
- 3:04Speaker 1: With his he's the guy that count He's the guy
- 3:06Speaker 1: that created this piere terror tax. It was his idea. Listen.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I know that, I know, but he was still would
- 3:12Speaker 2: have been better than my doge. But but I'm just
- 3:16Speaker 2: saying that, you know, my point is with him is
- 3:19Speaker 2: that he caved to the radical left of the of
- 3:22Speaker 2: the of of of the ruling class of the state.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Remember all the taxes that he imposed, particularly the last term,
- 3:30Speaker 2: he just horrendous. We was money that he needn't he
- 3:32Speaker 2: didn't need to increase taxes, and it could could have
- 3:35Speaker 2: taken down the side of the government. So you know
- 3:38Speaker 2: this the party. The problem is you got one party
- 3:40Speaker 2: control of the state and it's it's destroying it. I
- 3:43Speaker 2: think we should do. I mean, I argue this during
- 3:46Speaker 2: the campaign. You know, let him win, let him destroy
- 3:50Speaker 2: the place and just move. Let's start from zero.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Well, but we don't want to leave. You're not gonna move,
- 3:57Speaker 1: are you? You can't leave them.
- 3:59Speaker 2: One foot out the door?
- 4:00Speaker 1: What you can't believe?
- 4:03Speaker 2: You're like, I am going to leave? Why should I
- 4:06Speaker 2: pay into this? This is insane? But you know what
- 4:09Speaker 2: I mean, I get, I get. I guess there is
- 4:11Speaker 2: a business in complaining about Monday. I was just reading that.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I was I was reading Kyle Uh, Kyle Smith. He's
- 4:19Speaker 2: a really good writer. He writes for the National Review.
- 4:21Speaker 2: He writes for the Journal about just how much Colin
- 4:25Speaker 2: inches Monday inspires from critics and people and the lefties
- 4:31Speaker 2: who like in the journalism. So there is a sort
- 4:35Speaker 2: of business for you and I to to tap into.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I think if we stay the loyal opposition. But in reality,
- 4:42Speaker 2: is it worth the money that you're paying into this?
- 4:44Speaker 2: And and to listen to this idiot every day? I mean,
- 4:48Speaker 2: I mean, schmuck doesn't even begin to describe.
- 4:54Speaker 1: All Right, Hey, once again, everybody get Charlie Gasprino's book,
- 4:58Speaker 1: Go Woke, Go Broke. It's a great book. Hey, also,
- 5:03Speaker 1: you wrote the best book ever on Steve Cohen years ago.
- 5:06Speaker 1: He now owns the Mets. You know about this controversy
- 5:09Speaker 1: about mister Met hugging and kissing mom Donnie, and since
- 5:12Speaker 1: that day they've lost eleven in a row. You think
- 5:15Speaker 1: maybe you better send that book Go Woke, Go Broke
- 5:17Speaker 1: over to mister Met.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Well, you know what I don't. I mean, I can't
- 5:22Speaker 2: imagine Steve Cohen got directly involved in telling mister Met
- 5:25Speaker 2: to you know, kiss it out with, hug it out with.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You know.
- 5:31Speaker 2: My guess is like it was just an actor who
- 5:33Speaker 2: didn't know what to do. And I don't think it
- 5:36Speaker 2: has anything to do with the Mets losing.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Well, hey, I met mister Met. You probably did too.
- 5:45Speaker 1: He shakes your hand, he doesn't hug you and kiss you.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I mean that was a little yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, who knows who is underneath the clothing?
- 5:53Speaker 2: Do you know who this person is?
- 5:55Speaker 1: Probably Steve Cohen? Who knows who was?
- 5:57Speaker 2: No? Yeah, listen, I I you know listen. I mean
- 6:05Speaker 2: I read it. I saw I've been reading the commentary
- 6:09Speaker 2: on the Met's losing streak after that. You know, could
- 6:12Speaker 2: it be possible it was just one over zealous actor
- 6:15Speaker 2: who plays mister men.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's possible. But a lot of people our buddy said,
- 6:22Speaker 1: pointing out a lot of people pointing out.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I I Thowt said, sim Rosemary Glass. I saw his stuff.
- 6:29Speaker 2: He was wearing a Yankees uniform. And I love the
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yankees too. I mean, you know, you know, you know
- 6:34Speaker 2: one thing I will say about the Yankees Randy Levine,
- 6:37Speaker 2: who is like kind of on the business side of that. Yeah,
- 6:39Speaker 2: he runs a very very tight ship in sense like
- 6:43Speaker 2: you go to the game. It's a game. We don't
- 6:46Speaker 2: you cheer the Yankees. There's not a lot of there's
- 6:49Speaker 2: no politics, you know, you just go there. I mean,
- 6:53Speaker 2: you know, it's it's a second experience, and I think
- 6:56Speaker 2: sports should get back to that. Yeah, you know, you know,
- 6:59Speaker 2: no a bad buddies and at halftime and maybe you
- 7:03Speaker 2: know alert mister met you know, shake the guy's hand,
- 7:06Speaker 2: don't up against them.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Hey about it. Charlie Gasprino, you wrote the book on
- 7:15Speaker 1: Steve Cohen. I think it's called Circle of Friends. And
- 7:18Speaker 1: he's a brilliant business guy with the hedge funnel that.
- 7:20Speaker 1: But is he in over his head as a sports owner?
- 7:23Speaker 1: I mean, what's going on with him in the Mets?
- 7:25Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, you know, it's listen, it's
- 7:29Speaker 2: it's not easy getting a you know, running a baseball team.
- 7:32Speaker 2: It's you know, it's two sides of the coin. It's
- 7:34Speaker 2: the business side and it's putting a team on the
- 7:37Speaker 2: field that can win. And uh, you know, I don't
- 7:44Speaker 2: how much has he involved in the in the selecting players.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Doesn't he have people around him that to do that?
- 7:50Speaker 1: I mean you would think, yeah, but you know him
- 7:54Speaker 1: better than anybody. But what those guys always like to
- 7:56Speaker 1: poke their nose into everything.
- 7:58Speaker 2: But I mean, look, either really smart guy. I can't imagine.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Although you know, the people he replaced weren't that great, right,
- 8:05Speaker 2: remember Will?
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yeah, they were nice people. But you're right, all right.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I mean I think I think we actually traded up
- 8:12Speaker 2: with STEVIEE. Cohen.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I think you won that round. Yeah. So, and there
- 8:20Speaker 1: were great people of Willpons. But were they Fred Willpond
- 8:24Speaker 1: nicest guy in the world, Yeah, very sweetly.
- 8:27Speaker 2: I never met him, but I know I might have
- 8:29Speaker 2: met him once. He was on the board of Bear
- 8:31Speaker 2: Stearns I think I did beat the one.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Yeah, so I talked.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I interviewed his son once too.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Jeff Willpon, great guy. Yeah yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 2: So they didn't do much for the team though.
- 8:44Speaker 1: No, but uh all right, I can't argue that, uh hey,
- 8:49Speaker 1: this go woke, go broke stuff. When does it? Does
- 8:52Speaker 1: it turn around at some point? Like are we going
- 8:54Speaker 1: to wake up in November and elect Bruce Blakeman and
- 8:56Speaker 1: get a real governor? I think can that happen?
- 9:00Speaker 2: You know? Mark, This is my point. So many people
- 9:03Speaker 2: have left this city that I don't think. I think
- 9:07Speaker 2: you and I are, and maybe Bruce, well, I know,
- 9:11Speaker 2: and I really like we might be so much in
- 9:14Speaker 2: the minority were it's impossible to win in this state
- 9:19Speaker 2: that we'll see. I mean, you know, the ruling class
- 9:23Speaker 2: here is so inept and so stupid, and they're they're
- 9:26Speaker 2: literally chasing everybody that wants to work out that can't leave.
- 9:31Speaker 2: You know, some people can't leave. It's it's you're right.
- 9:34Speaker 2: It's a little difficult for me to leave since I
- 9:35Speaker 2: worked for Fox, that worked for the Post. You know,
- 9:38Speaker 2: it's hard for me to set up shop in Florida Miami.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Maybe I get to become part of the Miami Bureau
- 9:44Speaker 2: of the Post or something like that. That would be great,
- 9:47Speaker 2: but you know, so so many people have left the
- 9:50Speaker 2: city and the state. It's I don't know if if
- 9:57Speaker 2: there's enough people to vote for him that are left
- 9:59Speaker 2: so many people, you know, you know, if you look
- 10:01Speaker 2: at who you know who votes Democratic, it's all these
- 10:05Speaker 2: you know, these public sector unions which are it's a
- 10:08Speaker 2: huge employer in this in the city and state, so
- 10:11Speaker 2: they you know, automatically, when you're a Democrat, you start
- 10:14Speaker 2: off with like forty five percent of the vote, right,
- 10:17Speaker 2: I mean almost ya ta get out the vote. So
- 10:20Speaker 2: I'm just wondering if if it's just an impossibility. And
- 10:24Speaker 2: it's kind of scary to think that.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, Nasal County had the same exodus
- 10:29Speaker 1: and it's a majority Democratic county. Blakeman has won there twice.
- 10:32Speaker 1: He's pulled it off twice.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it's it's true. You know, the Democratic Party
- 10:37Speaker 2: is starting to bifur kate two a little bit from
- 10:40Speaker 2: these I mean, people forget this. There are a lot
- 10:43Speaker 2: of like moderate Democrats. There are no longer Democrats because
- 10:47Speaker 2: of the because of the Looney tombs that were on
- 10:49Speaker 2: the show. The far left. So there there is that,
- 10:53Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, And and and moderate Republicans
- 10:56Speaker 2: pick that up every day. I mean, listen, you know,
- 11:00Speaker 2: I see it all the time, you know, moderate moderate
- 11:04Speaker 2: Democrats saying, you know, maybe Trump isn't so crazy for
- 11:08Speaker 2: going after the Iyahtola, you know, and that the Mullahs.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Maybe maybe this is a good thing, that he's finally
- 11:15Speaker 2: taking these in and the rear ends out, you know,
- 11:18Speaker 2: these guys that are murderous thugs that you know, could
- 11:21Speaker 2: control the world's oil supply, you know, with with a drum.
- 11:25Speaker 2: You know, maybe he's maybe finally someone bit the bullet.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I'm hearing that a lot from moderate Democrats, believe it
- 11:32Speaker 2: or not. That's and that could be where Bruce wins.
- 11:36Speaker 2: But I I don't know. So many people have left,
- 11:39Speaker 2: you know, but want to get out and and and
- 11:43Speaker 2: then you know, even if he does win, you know,
- 11:45Speaker 2: the legislature is controlled by just wackos, you know, I mean,
- 11:50Speaker 2: they're just they're not have you seen some of these people.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but again, same thing in Nasall County. He's worked
- 11:55Speaker 1: his way around that problem too.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But well, I mean, you've got a lot of powerance
- 11:59Speaker 2: govern right, but it's still not easy. And I think
- 12:03Speaker 2: he is elected. He won't make the mistakes that Cuomo did.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Clomo gazed into those guys time and time again. Towards
- 12:11Speaker 2: the end. I think Bruce would take the fight to them,
- 12:14Speaker 2: which would be a good thing. Well, and he will
- 12:17Speaker 2: part in this poor cop that is gonna jail.
- 12:19Speaker 1: For He'll do a lot of great things. Day one,
- 12:22Speaker 1: Hey to say, we're at Yeah, we're out of time,
- 12:25Speaker 1: but brilliant as always. Everybody, get the book, Go Woke,
- 12:28Speaker 1: Go Broke. Must reading Charlie Gasprino's book, Go Woke, Go Broke.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Read his columns. They're all to the Near Post website.
