- 0:00So a really significant initiative is underway
- 0:02in Dubai, and it's all about advancing women
- 0:06in leadership. That's right. It's the Dubai Electricity
- 0:10and Water Authority, or DIWA. They've just launched
- 0:13the fourth batch of their For Her program. Ah,
- 0:16okay. And it's in collaboration with Hamdan bin
- 0:19Mohammed Smart University. Its theme is just,
- 0:23it's incredibly forward -looking. It's Women
- 0:26Create Tomorrow. a vision that transcends the
- 0:29present. So what does the program actually involve?
- 0:33Okay, so get this. It's an intensive nine -month
- 0:35journey for 25 female employees. Wow. They'll
- 0:39engage in workshops on, you know, transformational
- 0:42leadership, change management, institutional
- 0:44innovation, and it's all led by university experts.
- 0:47This sounds like so much more than just... like
- 0:50standard corporate training. Oh, for sure. To
- 0:53really get the strategic importance, we should
- 0:55listen to the statement from His Excellency Saeed
- 0:58Mohammed Al -Tayr, the MD and CEO of Diwa. Yeah,
- 1:02his words really frame the mission. Okay, so
- 1:04he says, and I'm quoting, at Diwa, we work closely
- 1:08with our partners across the public and private
- 1:10sectors, as well as local and international academic
- 1:14institutions. Right. To support UAE's pioneering
- 1:17model to empower UAE women at all levels. And
- 1:21listen to this part. He says our outstanding
- 1:23initiatives are designed to keep pace with the
- 1:25nation's development. OK. And ensure everyone
- 1:29has a fair opportunity to contribute to building
- 1:31a better future. And it just keeps building.
- 1:34He says these efforts support, quote, inclusive,
- 1:37prosperous societies in sustainable, knowledge
- 1:41-driven economies. Paving the way. Exactly. Paving
- 1:46the way for a brighter tomorrow for current and
- 1:48future generations. And then he gets to the committee.
- 1:51He says, we are proud to support the Diwa Women's
- 1:53Committee in its initiatives to encourage female
- 1:56employees to grow professionally and academically
- 1:59and to take on leadership roles in strategic
- 2:01thinking and decision making as they represent
- 2:04the UAE at national and global forums. Wow. OK.
- 2:08And then he lands the final point that their
- 2:10contributions are. quote, vital to our vision
- 2:13to become a globally leading, sustainable, innovative
- 2:16corporation. And here's the kicker. Committed
- 2:19to achieving net zero by 2050. That connection,
- 2:22it's just remarkable to hear such a direct line
- 2:24drawn between empowering women and achieving
- 2:27a, I mean, a massive goal like net zero by 2050.
- 2:32It's a powerful connection. And the university's
- 2:34role is just as critical. Definitely. You mentioned
- 2:37the chancellor, right? Right. His Excellency
- 2:40Dr. Mansour al -Awar, the chancellor of HBMSU.
- 2:44He also spoke on this. He stated, Our continued
- 2:47collaboration with Diwa reflects a strategic
- 2:50partnership founded on a shared vision. Right.
- 2:52A shared vision. To empower Emirati women to
- 2:56become a key driving force in the journey of
- 2:58institutional transformation and future making.
- 3:01He says the program is, quote, a pioneering national
- 3:04model for developing women's competencies. OK.
- 3:07And equipping them with leadership and innovative
- 3:09knowledge and skills that strengthen their presence
- 3:12in positions of influence and decision making.
- 3:15And he continues saying that they work alongside
- 3:17partners to, quote, prepare talent capable of
- 3:20innovation and positive impact across vital sectors
- 3:23while inspiring new generations of female leaders.
- 3:26So this is it. clear, deliberate strategy. It's
- 3:30about investing in female talent, not just for
- 3:32its own sake, but to actively drive transformation
- 3:37and innovation. It positions women not just as
- 3:40beneficiaries of progress, but as essential architects
- 3:45of the future. Which brings us to a question
- 3:48for everyone listening. Here's something to think
- 3:50about. As organizations worldwide pursue these
- 3:53ambitious sustainability and innovation targets,
- 3:56how essential is the focused empowerment of women
- 4:00to turning those grand visions into tangible
- 4:04realities?
