- 0:16Speaker 1: life lessons and tips to help make you rich in life.

- 0:24Speaker 3: Yay, welcome, thanks for having me.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Welcome back.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I know, I feel so expeccial.
- 0:31Speaker 1: So new format, and I'm so excited that you're our
- 0:35Speaker 1: first guest for What's the Tea, where we're basically going
- 0:38Speaker 1: to break down the tea on the internet this week
- 0:40Speaker 1: and then our life lessons from said tea. So we've
- 0:45Speaker 1: got some very exciting stories where all three of us
- 0:47Speaker 1: will bring some tea and we shall discuss exciting So
- 0:52Speaker 1: shall we get straight into the tea? Yeah?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Jeers, geez, that was so fun. Okay, time for the tea.
- 1:04Speaker 1: My tea of the week is obviously the Grammys Iconic.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I know. So we had the Grammys on Monday, and
- 1:12Speaker 1: I feel like this Grammys was bigger than normal.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Don't you.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Grammys is back.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Music's biggest night of the year.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I've got it hasn't really been as big in past
- 1:25Speaker 1: years as it was this year, it just hasn't really
- 1:27Speaker 1: been on my feet as much, do you guys?
- 1:29Speaker 3: It's definitely been spoken about more everywhere.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Who was everyone's best dressed?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Sabrina Serena looked in incredible?
- 1:42Speaker 2: What about you, Sour?
- 1:43Speaker 1: I really loved Lady Gaga's look. I felt like that
- 1:47Speaker 1: really encapsulated her Mayhem era, which I always like when
- 1:50Speaker 1: artists do that, like a nod to the era that
- 1:52Speaker 1: they're in.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 1: But also shout out to Haley and Justin Bieber and
- 1:57Speaker 1: the other celebs for wearing the.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Ice out pins.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yeah, probably my favorite accessory of the night. Literally, my
- 2:05Speaker 1: favorite best dressed was also Zara Larson.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Oh yeah, just for a moment and I was.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Kissed that like gold dress. It was gold. Yeah, it
- 2:18Speaker 2: was like a goldie green. Yeah. Yeah, truly Midnight Sun.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I'm just collapsed to her and that rebrand. But before
- 2:27Speaker 1: we get into it, I've got a lot to break
- 2:31Speaker 1: down in terms of tea amazing. First off, it was
- 2:35Speaker 1: Travis Noah's six and last time hosting the Grammys.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Now did you watch it?
- 2:40Speaker 1: No?
- 2:41Speaker 3: This is actually great that I'm here because I actually
- 2:42Speaker 3: be getting the run.
- 2:43Speaker 4: I need the tea because I kind of I saw
- 2:45Speaker 4: the red carpet stuff, but the rest of it I
- 2:47Speaker 4: kind of just didn't watch.
- 2:48Speaker 1: So he did not pull his punches in terms of hosting.
- 2:53Speaker 1: In his opening monologue, he literally roasted in a humanage,
- 2:57Speaker 1: oh and her current political stance, saying that she wasn't
- 3:00Speaker 1: at the Grammys because she was too busy at the
- 3:02Speaker 1: White House. I mean most people started cheering, which I
- 3:07Speaker 1: think tells.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You a lot for the people that were there.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he basically made it very very clear where he
- 3:13Speaker 1: stood in terms of his political alignment, and so did
- 3:18Speaker 1: a lot.
- 3:18Speaker 4: I did see some highlights. Yeah, I think it's kind
- 3:22Speaker 4: of great.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I think that's what people have been wanting from celebrities
- 3:29Speaker 1: in recent years, whether it be with Palestine or with
- 3:33Speaker 1: the election.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Like people want celebrities.
- 3:35Speaker 1: To speak up, and I understand why some people like
- 3:39Speaker 1: I don't want to hear Sabrina Carpenter's stance on politics,
- 3:42Speaker 1: and then other people were like, no, like they should
- 3:44Speaker 1: be speaking up about what's right and what is wrong,
- 3:47Speaker 1: and like a lot of the things that we're seeing
- 3:49Speaker 1: isn't politics.
- 3:50Speaker 4: It's like human rights, human rights, and just so it's
- 3:54Speaker 4: a step above I think what they're going through in
- 3:55Speaker 4: the States is kind of like you can't stay silent now.
- 3:58Speaker 1: It's very interesting to see, especially celebrities like Sydney Sweeney
- 4:02Speaker 1: coming out saying that like it's not her job to
- 4:06Speaker 1: discuss politics, but to make art. And then within a
- 4:09Speaker 1: couple of days we have something like the Grammys where
- 4:13Speaker 1: so many acceptance speeches on what's going on at the moment,
- 4:17Speaker 1: especially with how scary it is in America at the moment.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Some of the celebrities included Olivia Dean, who stated Some
- 4:25Speaker 1: of the most powerful speeches from the Grammys included Olivia Dean,
- 4:28Speaker 1: who said, I'm up here as the granddaughter of an immigrant.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I wouldn't be here.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I'm a product of bravery, and those people deserve to
- 4:35Speaker 1: be celebrated when nothing without each other bad.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Bunny said, I'm ice out. The only thing more powerful
- 4:42Speaker 2: than hate is love. We need to be different.
- 4:44Speaker 1: If we fight, we need to do it with love,
- 4:47Speaker 1: and Billy Eilish said, fuck ice, no one is illegal
- 4:51Speaker 1: on stolen Land. Kilaney also had an iconic speech and
- 4:55Speaker 1: I just thought it was unlike any other awards ceremony
- 4:59Speaker 1: or celebrit pretty event that we'd ever seen. Like you
- 5:02Speaker 1: might not be interested in politics, but politics is interested
- 5:05Speaker 1: in you. Like, we can't separate these things out anymore.
- 5:08Speaker 4: No, we can't ignore it when it's this big, and
- 5:10Speaker 4: like we're in a different time. Whatever's happening in the world,
- 5:13Speaker 4: Like we're in such like there's so much chaos happening,
- 5:16Speaker 4: Like you can't turn a blind eye to it anymore.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah, And like Mark Ruffalo is God, did he.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Lose his contract with Marvel? Rumored that he might allegedly
- 5:27Speaker 4: lost his contract for speaking up? Isn't that just so sad?
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I just had a rumor about it that maybe he did.
- 5:34Speaker 1: But that's the thing, It's like, that's why we need
- 5:36Speaker 1: more and more people speaking up so that because it's like,
- 5:38Speaker 1: what are you going to do?
- 5:39Speaker 2: Fire everyone?
- 5:40Speaker 1: Throughout the night, we also heard from a lot of winners,
- 5:43Speaker 1: including Olivia Dean for Best New Artists, which she absolutely
- 5:48Speaker 1: deserved to win that. Lady Gaga also won multiple Grammys.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Bad Bunny and also you may not have seen this
- 5:55Speaker 1: because it wasn't shown on the Telly if you will
- 5:58Speaker 1: in like the main event, but Cynthia Arribo and Ariana
- 6:01Speaker 1: Grande one a Grammy for defying gravity.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I don't know that. Yeah, so I wasn't shown.
- 6:07Speaker 1: There's like a mini Grammys that happens for all the
- 6:10Speaker 1: other categories that aren't like considered as big mainstream. Yeah,
- 6:15Speaker 1: I was so surprised that that wasn't included. But they
- 6:17Speaker 1: weren't there either. Yeah, so I wonder if that hasn't
- 6:20Speaker 1: been But Ariana Grande hasn't attended the Grammy since twenty twenty.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, does she have bay for the
- 6:26Speaker 2: Grammys or what?
- 6:27Speaker 1: Well?
- 6:27Speaker 4: I also wonder are we over the Wicked Fever? Are
- 6:30Speaker 4: we done with them?
- 6:30Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I'm still at the restaurant, still defying gravity. I'm still sobbing,
- 6:39Speaker 1: I'm still wowing.
- 6:42Speaker 2: And I'm lying that.
- 6:48Speaker 3: I didn't know because she's so good.
- 6:51Speaker 2: She is the best.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I love her.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I do not know this man. This sound's favorite one
- 7:00Speaker 2: is I'd Be a Rock.
- 7:04Speaker 4: I get like like the list of her best moments
- 7:06Speaker 4: on my feet.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Never skied TikTok.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I also love the one where she goes but the
- 7:14Speaker 1: two years, Wendy you weren't there, and she's the best
- 7:26Speaker 1: in my life. I'm going to discuss a current current
- 7:30Speaker 1: queen that we've already addressed and her outfit. But Sabrina Carpenter,
- 7:33Speaker 1: so she opened and did you watch her performance? Yeah?
- 7:37Speaker 1: So she performed Manchild, which, like, there were so many
- 7:41Speaker 1: comments I saw on like reels and TikTok and being like, oh,
- 7:45Speaker 1: she's still performing this and.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I'm like it only came out a couple of months ago.
- 7:49Speaker 3: To move on.
- 7:50Speaker 2: But I'm like, she has obviously had.
- 7:53Speaker 1: So many hits that have played so much that I'm like,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I'm still subscribed literally.
- 7:58Speaker 2: And she's been nominated for that album.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, she's going to put why not one of the
- 8:03Speaker 1: biggest hits off that album. Everyone okay, But more excitingly
- 8:07Speaker 1: is in that performance. It was set in like an
- 8:10Speaker 1: airplane airport, airport, lounde tarmac kind of vibe, right, But
- 8:15Speaker 1: in the backscreen of the show was like destinations and
- 8:21Speaker 1: dates and people are theorizing that Sabrina Carpenter is doing
- 8:27Speaker 1: a Man's Best Friend World tour.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Yes, you better be coming to Australia. I'm going to be.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Melbourn was on the list. Yeah, Melbourne was on the list.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah. So they had Rome, they had Nashville and on
- 8:41Speaker 1: the list amongst it was Melbourne to be included. So
- 8:46Speaker 1: I think a lot of people because we haven't gotten
- 8:47Speaker 1: a Sabrina tour yet outside of the Era's tour, which
- 8:51Speaker 1: she came to Taylors with. Yeah, I think she'll definitely
- 8:53Speaker 1: be coming, whether or not that was a easter egg,
- 8:56Speaker 1: but I would say that whether it's this year or
- 8:58Speaker 1: maybe like the beginning of next but yeah, she's got
- 9:01Speaker 1: to come. Yeah.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Well, Short and Sweet was like arguably her biggest, like
- 9:05Speaker 4: her big breakout album.
- 9:06Speaker 3: But I think what's called Man's I think it's just
- 9:09Speaker 3: as big, if not bigger.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I agree. You've seen we've seen her speaking and attending
- 9:13Speaker 1: so many more events, and she did that talk.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I think it was that a variety thing maybe, and she.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Was discussing, you know, how to make a viral hit
- 9:21Speaker 1: and how like Man's best Friend, Like that's not the
- 9:24Speaker 1: intention when she's writing, Like she just wants to make
- 9:27Speaker 1: music and if you're trying to make a viral hit,
- 9:29Speaker 1: that's the last thing that you're going to do.
- 9:31Speaker 3: That's the same thing with content though, trying to go viral.
- 9:35Speaker 2: She was nominated for six awards and she didn't win.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Any I saw a little compilation of her face. I
- 9:40Speaker 4: don't know why people do it, But she just couldn't believe.
- 9:42Speaker 1: She didn't win.
- 9:42Speaker 2: But then the people that did win, though, You're like, yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I think that's like the Oscars, right, every time he
- 9:49Speaker 4: was nominated, there was someone who was more deserving of
- 9:53Speaker 4: is so incredible every time.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I think it's the same thing with Sabrina.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Or even Beyonce too, Like she only won Best Album
- 9:59Speaker 1: last year and there were so many times that she
- 10:01Speaker 1: could have and probably should have.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Won it before that said it.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Yeah, fuck.
- 10:08Speaker 1: God, Yeah, okay, and now some quick fire of Morte
- 10:12Speaker 1: from the Grammys. Serena Carpenter also called out the paparazzi
- 10:16Speaker 1: for behaving themselves and well she credited to Chapel Ronan
- 10:22Speaker 1: was like, well, Chapel Rones whipped you all into shape
- 10:25Speaker 1: to the paparazzi, and I was like, that's amazing. Harry
- 10:28Speaker 1: Styles also walked out to where is my husband?
- 10:33Speaker 3: There?
- 10:33Speaker 1: He is.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Ever's husband, literally people's husband.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Travis Snowell also made a joke to Hailey Bieber asking
- 10:41Speaker 1: for a discount code for a Liptin and Justin Bieble
- 10:45Speaker 1: was not a fan.
- 10:46Speaker 2: He literally was like, he's not fun anymore.
- 10:50Speaker 1: He's just ruined.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Like the industry, I think is just he's done.
- 10:54Speaker 1: He made like a post in twenty sixteen about how
- 10:58Speaker 1: much he hated like a war ceremonies like the Grammys
- 11:02Speaker 1: and how he found them really really fake, and that
- 11:05Speaker 1: like he looked around the room and that everyone was
- 11:07Speaker 1: basically spiling for like the fear of the camera being
- 11:11Speaker 1: put on them and like them pulling a weird face,
- 11:14Speaker 1: and that no one's actually there to celebrate you, because
- 11:16Speaker 1: they're there to like either network or celebrate themselves.
- 11:20Speaker 3: And so fair is we do scrutinize every series.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I could not that I've been invited, but I it
- 11:31Speaker 1: would be so stressful going because like everyone's going to
- 11:34Speaker 1: judge your outfit. Everyone's going to judge like if you
- 11:38Speaker 1: like even I twitch a little bit at the fact
- 11:40Speaker 1: that you don't twitch.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Like yeah, being like, oh, look at her reaction. She
- 11:43Speaker 2: didn't win. Jesus all loser.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's like you can also be a little
- 11:47Speaker 1: bit disappointed if you did. I went and then Alex
- 11:51Speaker 1: Warren's earpiece broke, which caused him to lose his timing
- 11:54Speaker 1: during his performance for Best New Artists, So when he
- 11:58Speaker 1: was performing, he was out of time and it.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Was really weird.
- 12:02Speaker 1: You could tell something was going on because he started
- 12:04Speaker 1: fiddling with his earpiece, and I just felt for him
- 12:07Speaker 1: so much because this is obviously such a big career
- 12:10Speaker 1: moment for him.
- 12:11Speaker 2: He's a new artist.
- 12:12Speaker 1: He's definitely like stepping up out and away from like
- 12:15Speaker 1: you know, the TikToker musician. And anyway, during his performance,
- 12:20Speaker 1: he was out of time, and he posted a TikTok
- 12:22Speaker 1: after the Grammys explaining what happened, and in his earpiece
- 12:26Speaker 1: this is what he could hear.
- 12:39Speaker 3: It actually breaks my heart.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Don't just make you want to cry for him, like
- 12:44Speaker 2: you just not stop.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I would have just been like, that's it, cut, the
- 12:51Speaker 1: show must go on, Like you wouldn't be able to
- 12:54Speaker 1: be like cut, like you just have to push through,
- 12:56Speaker 1: and that would be so overstimulating. That was like when
- 12:59Speaker 1: Howry Styles performed at the Grammys as well, and he
- 13:03Speaker 1: performed as it was and he was on that like
- 13:06Speaker 1: rotating disc and it was rotating the wrong way.
- 13:11Speaker 2: So he had like choreography.
- 13:12Speaker 3: With dancers someone's getting fired.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and had to basically do the routine backwards, and
- 13:17Speaker 1: then at one point he had to like jump off
- 13:19Speaker 1: or like walk off the platform, and he kind of
- 13:22Speaker 1: like stumbled as he was going off, and yeah, it's
- 13:25Speaker 1: like they just have to remain professional business, right, Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 4: But I wonder like that's that's mortifying, like as a performer,
- 13:31Speaker 4: to have a bad performance, that's like not your fault. Yeah,
- 13:35Speaker 4: to like Devil's advocate, that's going to provide some buzz
- 13:38Speaker 4: for him. Yeah, maybe like offer like a redemption performance.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Or the comments were so nice and supportive. And then
- 13:46Speaker 1: finally my last tea is a Glandbot's done.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Yeah, Alambot's like a week now.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I'm I'm done And it's such a shame.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Do we think think it's just because we're over it
- 14:01Speaker 4: or because of the controversy with Cole both?
- 14:04Speaker 2: I think it's both.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I feel like both Glambots and then also the three sixty.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Cam cam Oh yeah we got over that a while ago.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Is that the one with the ring like project?
- 14:14Speaker 1: Yeah, they're like the boomerang of twenty six over.
- 14:18Speaker 3: All to provide contacts.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Cole's being canceled because of like an old email that
- 14:24Speaker 4: like somebody had asked for him to do the Glamdbot
- 14:27Speaker 4: at like a private event, and he basically just went,
- 14:29Speaker 4: you can't afford me, that was the energy.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Did you not say this?
- 14:32Speaker 2: I haven't seen that.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Yes, this is why Cole's being like canceled and he's
- 14:36Speaker 4: had to post some apology videos.
- 14:38Speaker 3: And it's from like ten years ago.
- 14:40Speaker 4: A woman emailed him asking for a quote because she
- 14:42Speaker 4: wanted him at like a wedding or is something something private,
- 14:45Speaker 4: and the energy he gave back in the email was
- 14:47Speaker 4: kind of like well, he didn't even give the price.
- 14:49Speaker 4: He's like, you can't afford me, it's so extensive, and
- 14:51Speaker 4: I think he quoted something like three hundred thousand dollars
- 14:54Speaker 4: something obscene, right, which was like before bot, like you know,
- 14:59Speaker 4: heyday Woul. She's like yeah right, and so he was
- 15:02Speaker 4: like really salty about that. But I wonder if it
- 15:04Speaker 4: happened because of Jlo at the Golden Globes, So did
- 15:07Speaker 4: you see this? So what happened at the Golden Globes
- 15:09Speaker 4: for the Glambot is Jlo was really cold and she
- 15:13Speaker 4: just like didn't acknowledge him.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Right, He's just like, hey, how are you?
- 15:16Speaker 4: And she just like walks gets some position and he's
- 15:18Speaker 4: like talking to her explaining how the Glambot works. She
- 15:20Speaker 4: just turns away from him, away from the camera basically
- 15:23Speaker 4: getting in position to start her Glambot. He says action,
- 15:27Speaker 4: she does her thing, and then he's like thanks so much.
- 15:29Speaker 4: She doesn't look him in the eye and walks away.
- 15:31Speaker 4: But then Cole uploads that without editing it. He just
- 15:35Speaker 4: upsloads the entire bts of Jlo, letting it speak for itself.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Right, Oh shady.
- 15:41Speaker 3: So I actually think.
- 15:42Speaker 4: This is a theory online that Jalo's PR team has
- 15:45Speaker 4: dug up some info on Coal and posted this email
- 15:50Speaker 4: thread to cancel him. I think it's JLO.
- 15:53Speaker 1: But he also posted a TikTok addressing that with Jlo
- 15:58Speaker 1: and was like, you know, Jaylor arrived on the carpet
- 16:02Speaker 1: a bit late, like the carpet had closed. So that's
- 16:05Speaker 1: why she was like she was such a professional, Like
- 16:07Speaker 1: she was just rushing. She knew what she was there
- 16:08Speaker 1: to do. She's done Gladbot's in the past, and then
- 16:11Speaker 1: like she left, but he was the devil's advocate for
- 16:15Speaker 1: her afterwards afterwards.
- 16:17Speaker 4: But maybe that's him trying to cover and then she's
- 16:21Speaker 4: dug up. So that's the theory online. But so that's
- 16:23Speaker 4: why there's like a little bit of you know, hate
- 16:26Speaker 4: towards Coal that he's like not a nice guy.
- 16:29Speaker 3: He wasn't there for the Grammys. They had someone else.
- 16:31Speaker 4: But I mean, like the Glandbot's still kind of slaid,
- 16:34Speaker 4: you know how sometimes there's so many fails and you're like.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Is it because of him?
- 16:37Speaker 2: I would be a fail? I would be a fail.
- 16:40Speaker 2: There's no way I would do a good game.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I've done won because he chok Awards and I did
- 16:45Speaker 3: the first.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Did you I did one two years ago and I
- 16:48Speaker 4: am yes, yeah, because was he nice?
- 16:51Speaker 3: He's lovely?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Oh.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I actually think it's just like a humiliation ritual. Actually
- 16:57Speaker 4: that's what the Glandbot is. And maybe we're starting to
- 17:00Speaker 4: realizing and that's why it's been canceled.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I think it's just like a class thing and people
- 17:04Speaker 1: like it's become like it's become a like the fact
- 17:08Speaker 1: that it's now easier to access and is at so
- 17:10Speaker 1: many events has taken it off the pedestal special. Yeah,
- 17:14Speaker 1: that it's less special now. It became a trend. And
- 17:18Speaker 1: as trends do, they diy.
- 17:20Speaker 3: The gen zs have just decided it's not cool and yeah,
- 17:22Speaker 3: it's like emojis apparently.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Literally, Oh, I'm going to use emojis into will be
- 17:27Speaker 1: on like my funeral.
- 17:31Speaker 3: And there'll be the death emojis above your head.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Literally dead. Literally, I'm literally dead. Oh my god.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Okay, Maddie me what let me bring it up.
- 17:43Speaker 4: I'm less prepared than you girls, but I have not
- 17:47Speaker 4: seen the Grammys because I've been too obsessed with Bridgeton.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And we will be having spoilers, yes, so if you
- 17:55Speaker 1: sorry haven't seen it fast forward, we'll put the time
- 17:58Speaker 1: stamps in the show notes that you know which parts
- 18:01Speaker 1: to skip through or just pause this episode, go watch.
- 18:04Speaker 2: It and then come back that you can hear what
- 18:05Speaker 2: we think.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Season four, part one, yes, has dropped, and I have
- 18:10Speaker 4: to say, Bridgeton is so back.
- 18:12Speaker 3: It's so bad.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Really scared you're going to say, like so back.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I love it so much. I'm actually rewatching season one again.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Oh my gos.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I know.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I did this for Stranger Things as well.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Part one dropped, then I watched the whole series again,
- 18:25Speaker 4: and then part two dropped, So I'm doing it again
- 18:26Speaker 4: for Bridgeton. And I think that we kind of fell
- 18:30Speaker 4: out of love with Bridgeton in season three.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I agree.
- 18:32Speaker 4: I don't know what your opinions were of it, but
- 18:35Speaker 4: it just didn't land in the same world.
- 18:37Speaker 3: It didn't.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Yeah, there were a few things about season three that
- 18:39Speaker 4: I didn't love. I felt like the chemistry between the
- 18:41Speaker 4: main couples weren't there. I felt like it was a
- 18:43Speaker 4: bit forced. There were too many storylines, and they had
- 18:47Speaker 4: press on nails and fucking cock creases. And you know,
- 18:52Speaker 4: now that I'm going back to season one Bridgeton, I'm
- 18:54Speaker 4: noticing that there was much simpler in its makeup and
- 18:57Speaker 4: its design and it's costuming, which kind of let the
- 19:00Speaker 4: story in the romance shine. And I'm finding that's happening
- 19:03Speaker 4: with season four.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Going back to its room.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Yeah, and I really feel like there's a strong chemistry
- 19:09Speaker 4: between the main couples. We've got Benedict and Sophie. Sophie's Australian,
- 19:13Speaker 4: which we love to see, so she's gorgeous. So I'm
- 19:16Speaker 4: just really obsessed with with the storyline.
- 19:18Speaker 1: What do you guys think is the best Bridgiton season?
- 19:23Speaker 2: Season two? Season two?
- 19:24Speaker 3: I agree?
- 19:25Speaker 2: I agree Season two without a doubt.
- 19:28Speaker 1: The chemistry between Jonathan Bailey and Simoan Ashley, Yeah, incredible.
- 19:33Speaker 5: Jonathan Bailey could have chemistry with a Yeah, like his
- 19:38Speaker 5: chemistry with literally Cynthia Ribo, His chemistry with like, no,
- 19:43Speaker 5: he has chemistry with me.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Yeah, but he could though, Yeah, like it as well.
- 19:49Speaker 4: I found out actually how they do the sex scenes, well,
- 19:51Speaker 4: at least for Jonathan Bailey's sex scenes, if they have
- 19:53Speaker 4: a half inflated volleyball between their groins, and that's how
- 19:57Speaker 4: they can like thrust.
- 19:59Speaker 3: So because you're like, I think about it? What okay?
- 20:03Speaker 3: As hard?
- 20:04Speaker 2: I find that out.
- 20:05Speaker 3: I saw it somewhere. It was probably a TikTok, you know,
- 20:06Speaker 3: which is a.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Reliable the bridgit for the bridgist and spy scenes. They
- 20:11Speaker 1: inflate a volleyball and put it between their nether region.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Let me give you some behind the scenes about being
- 20:17Speaker 4: an actor and an intimacy scene because it's choreographed like
- 20:20Speaker 4: a dance, like it has to be. You have to
- 20:22Speaker 4: ask permission for every place that you touch a person beforehand.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:26Speaker 4: You can't just improvise a sex scene, right, It's so
- 20:28Speaker 4: not on, especially in twenty twenty six. There has to
- 20:30Speaker 4: be permissioned. They have what's called an intimacy coordinator or coach,
- 20:34Speaker 4: and you'll choreograph a sex scene beforehand. But bridgis and
- 20:38Speaker 4: sex scenes are so intense that you right, so by
- 20:43Speaker 4: the way, Violet Violet, Oh.
- 20:46Speaker 1: My god, she has eight billion children now kicking my feet,
- 20:51Speaker 1: I have a billion children.
- 20:53Speaker 2: So she looked amazing.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Also really want to have a pre coel series for
- 20:58Speaker 4: her and her husband like they did with a Queen Charlotte.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Oh, that would be great.
- 21:01Speaker 4: And I was watching season one last night and like
- 21:03Speaker 4: some of the sex scenes between Daphne and the Duke,
- 21:06Speaker 4: and I'm like, they are surely they're fucking. Yeah's penis
- 21:12Speaker 4: is in her right?
- 21:13Speaker 3: Yeah, how are they not? It's a volleyball, volleyball.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Imagine being that volleyball because, oh my god, that volleyball
- 21:20Speaker 1: has also had eight children.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Wilson Wilson Jr.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Because also like, as a woman, if I get aroused,
- 21:32Speaker 4: I can hide that.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I always think that.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I always think that because your body would just like
- 21:37Speaker 1: male actors body. Surely they're just like reacting to the
- 21:40Speaker 1: emotion of the ocean.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Yeah, surely you're getting hard you have to.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Anyway, I'm loving it, but I have some questions for
- 21:48Speaker 4: you girls about the new season. Okay, firstly, we have
- 21:51Speaker 4: a trope or like a storyline that is inspired season four,
- 21:55Speaker 4: which is Cinderella.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Yeah, we brought this up. Well, you brought this up
- 21:58Speaker 3: when we watched the first two. Yes, it's because you
- 22:00Speaker 3: already knew.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I could tell. You could tell from the trailer.
- 22:04Speaker 2: So I haven't even read the book.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And the trailer was very very much giving Cinderella retelling, which, like,
- 22:11Speaker 1: there are so many stories that use classics, if you will,
- 22:15Speaker 1: as like a retelling like Akatar is actually a beauty
- 22:18Speaker 1: in the beast retelling.
- 22:20Speaker 3: So it's like the Lion King as Hamlet.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, yes, but I just I don't know.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I feel like it's a little bit too close to
- 22:27Speaker 1: the Cinderella storyline. I feel like in the first episode
- 22:32Speaker 1: it was almost exactly too obvious. Yeah, and then as
- 22:36Speaker 1: it has gone on, by the fourth episode, it has
- 22:40Speaker 1: veered away a story which I was thankful for because
- 22:44Speaker 1: I was like, if she starts speaking to mice, like,
- 22:48Speaker 1: it's too far. As much as I love Cinderella, but
- 22:52Speaker 1: it just feels unless like each season was like heavily
- 22:57Speaker 1: based on fairy Tale, a well known story, then that
- 23:00Speaker 1: would make sense. But then all of a sudden, for
- 23:03Speaker 1: season four to be so heavily influenced by Cinderella, it
- 23:06Speaker 1: kind of like it felt.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Like felt a bit out of play.
- 23:09Speaker 4: It felt like kind of like they've run out of
- 23:11Speaker 4: juice and they're they're cheating and they're they're lazy, and
- 23:14Speaker 4: they're like, oh, let's just steal another storyline. I actually
- 23:16Speaker 4: love it. Okay, I'm loving the Cinderella storyline. And now
- 23:20Speaker 4: that I'm going back to season one, each season does
- 23:22Speaker 4: have a trope, a romance trope.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Like the first one is.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Like the fake fake dating, fake dating.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Season two Enemies to Love Us.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Yes, season three is Friends to Love Us and now
- 23:32Speaker 4: we've got a Cinderella.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 4: So there is like kind of like a trope kind
- 23:36Speaker 4: of thing in every season.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Other things I want to bring up is the soundtrack.
- 23:40Speaker 3: How do we think of the songs?
- 23:42Speaker 2: Love it?
- 23:42Speaker 1: So far?
- 23:43Speaker 3: We've had Paramore, we've had Olivia Rodrigo.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I had in chance of the Olivia Rodrigo orchestral score.
- 23:49Speaker 2: I'm not agree, to be honest. I like the Olivia
- 23:51Speaker 2: Rodrigo song.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I don't think it translated super well with the orchestral score.
- 23:57Speaker 3: No, I agree.
- 23:58Speaker 4: I think it was a fun choice for what they
- 24:00Speaker 4: were doing, because what they were doing is a bad idea, right, Yeah,
- 24:03Speaker 4: but it didn't a lot.
- 24:05Speaker 2: It was it was like during the sex like farewell.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that was making me like stress, I don't want
- 24:11Speaker 1: to stimulate it.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Yeah maybe that was the point.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, to wrap this one up, though, what did
- 24:17Speaker 1: we all think of?
- 24:18Speaker 2: Be my Mistress pissed me off.
- 24:22Speaker 3: But it means that there's a redemption arc, so I'm excited.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Yeah, Be my Mistress is giving. I'm not really ready
- 24:28Speaker 1: for a relationship, but I really enjoy getting to know you. Yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 1: and as our single girl on the couch, what do
- 24:34Speaker 1: you mean?
- 24:37Speaker 4: No, it's so true though, it is, which actually maybe
- 24:40Speaker 4: that's why I love it, because I'm like, it's so real.
- 24:42Speaker 3: It's so real. People don't want to commit.
- 24:44Speaker 4: It's like what you want me for every other part
- 24:46Speaker 4: of being a girlfriend except for actually being your girlfriend.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Yeah fucked, but I'll do it because people pleaser and
- 24:52Speaker 3: I like the attention.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Yeah, come on now, my what's the tea?
- 24:57Speaker 1: MC beauty is pushing back on soul dejian eio lawsuit
- 25:01Speaker 1: your joke?
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 1: So I feel like every girl that is always like
- 25:09Speaker 1: how do they not get sued?
- 25:11Speaker 2: Is sat.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Every time I see them in the stores, I'm like,
- 25:15Speaker 3: I don't get it.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Yeah, how yeah?
- 25:17Speaker 1: Tell us and there are quite a few different facets
- 25:20Speaker 1: of the lawsuit that they're pushing back against, which I
- 25:22Speaker 1: think will give us an idea of how they get
- 25:24Speaker 1: away with it and how they.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Haven't been sued in the past. So how we got here?
- 25:30Speaker 1: Let's give a little bit of background info.
- 25:32Speaker 2: So all of this.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Information is alleged and not affact law We're not.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Layalizers this we're fine.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and we'll put links in the show notes as
- 25:42Speaker 1: well to where we saw some of this information alleged and.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Reported, So if you want to do some more deep diving.
- 25:48Speaker 2: But yeah, we're not lawyers. This is just what we've
- 25:50Speaker 2: seen the internet so far. Just tea it is. So, yeah,
- 25:54Speaker 2: how we got here?
- 25:55Speaker 1: Sol Degenero first Suit and co Beauty. In November twenty
- 25:58Speaker 1: twenty four, they were alleging that the brand copied the packaging,
- 26:02Speaker 1: color schemes, and branding of its shirosa Body missed range.
- 26:07Speaker 1: When you also put the advertisements next to each other,
- 26:10Speaker 1: the similarities are pretty wild. Yeah, So in an amended
- 26:16Speaker 1: complaint that was fooled on November twenty twenty five, so
- 26:18Speaker 1: that's almost a year later. Soldi Geneio went further claiming
- 26:22Speaker 1: that MC beauty ran a coordinated influencer and review strategy,
- 26:26Speaker 1: including comparative advertising, which was designed to trade on Soldigenio's goodwill,
- 26:32Speaker 1: mislead customers, and violate trademark law as well as FTC
- 26:36Speaker 1: endorsement guidelines. Fast forward to MC Beauty's defense and what
- 26:40Speaker 1: they're challenging in the lawsuit.
- 26:43Speaker 2: So the first thing was duke culture.
- 26:45Speaker 1: So MCO Beauty says that the company says that its
- 26:49Speaker 1: business model does openly draw inspiration from trends which are
- 26:53Speaker 1: popularized by higher price brands, and that this approach is
- 26:57Speaker 1: both common and legal. It points to the rise of
- 27:00Speaker 1: dupe culture, which it says is widely recognized and fueled
- 27:04Speaker 1: by social media influencers and rail content, and is embraced
- 27:08Speaker 1: by consumers who are looking for more affordable alternatives. And
- 27:12Speaker 1: then to back that up, MC beauty cited a twenty
- 27:16Speaker 1: twenty three Business inside a survey which showed that seventy
- 27:19Speaker 1: one percent of gen Z and sixty seven percent of
- 27:21Speaker 1: millennials regularly buy dupes of more expensive beauty products. So,
- 27:26Speaker 1: according to MCO Beauty, they're saying that the trend reflects
- 27:30Speaker 1: ordinary competition and isn't consumer deception.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Yeah, except that we're buying juops that aren't marketed as
- 27:37Speaker 4: being exact copies. Yeah, they're ones that we've figured out
- 27:40Speaker 4: on our own. We're like, oh, I love this slipliner.
- 27:42Speaker 4: It's almost a dupe for this slip liner, but it's
- 27:44Speaker 4: not because it's packaged identically the same.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:48Speaker 4: That's where I feel like they're kind of crossing a line,
- 27:50Speaker 4: like Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter that the bottle is the same.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I think even down to the fonts.
- 27:57Speaker 1: You they are also coming out with road dupe, Oh
- 28:00Speaker 1: my god, and like even the names and.
- 28:04Speaker 4: With thesaurus and just like right clicked and found it
- 28:06Speaker 4: like a different name, so it like it's flawless.
- 28:08Speaker 3: So then they I don't know what the MC beauty
- 28:10Speaker 3: want is. Yeah, it's too similar.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I think there's also like a valid, you know, argument
- 28:16Speaker 1: from people that if they can make it for this
- 28:18Speaker 1: much money, why am I paying so much money more
- 28:20Speaker 1: for the high end brand?
- 28:21Speaker 3: Right?
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah? But I think what maybe people forget to put
- 28:25Speaker 1: it into that equation is that it costs less to
- 28:28Speaker 1: dupe a product because you don't have to spend years
- 28:32Speaker 1: and years ideating on formulas and trend forecasts and execution
- 28:37Speaker 1: you don't then have to pay a graphic designer, You
- 28:40Speaker 1: don't have to create a team for ideation.
- 28:43Speaker 2: You also then.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Don't have to pay for marketing because the marketing does
- 28:46Speaker 1: itself for you. So speaking of the design that was
- 28:50Speaker 1: part of the lawsuit as well. In regards to that,
- 28:53Speaker 1: MC beauty addressed the claims by arguing that the design
- 28:57Speaker 1: elements at issue, including the bottle shape and the fonts,
- 29:01Speaker 1: are generic, functionable, and not protectable. It emphasizes that the
- 29:06Speaker 1: trade dress is unregistered and says Sole Degenera failed to
- 29:09Speaker 1: adequately a legend, non functionality or secondary meaning.
- 29:13Speaker 4: So that might be true. I guess maybe they didn't
- 29:16Speaker 4: protect the packaging. Maybe it is fair game.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 29:19Speaker 4: But then I guess, like on your point before, it's like,
- 29:23Speaker 4: but maybe these other brands are getting out of our
- 29:26Speaker 4: reach price wise, and so maybe it's like also making
- 29:29Speaker 4: a comment on making makeup more accessible, why are they
- 29:32Speaker 4: so expensive, like if they can be made cheaper. Like,
- 29:35Speaker 4: I agree with you that there was years of ideation.
- 29:37Speaker 4: There's so much more money and time invested in creating
- 29:39Speaker 4: a product. But there are some products that I see and.
- 29:43Speaker 2: I'm like, it's actually crazy it's wild.
- 29:46Speaker 4: It's something that I wear every day. I am not
- 29:49Speaker 4: reaching for a two hundred bottle of foundation.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Cod thing is there are accessible and affordable products
- 29:54Speaker 1: that don't copy, that don't copy, Okay, Like that isn't
- 29:57Speaker 1: the only way to provide an alternative. It's like an
- 30:00Speaker 1: affordable alternative. But interestingly as well, MC beauty argues that
- 30:05Speaker 1: Sole Digenero hasn't been hurt by the Jews financially, and
- 30:09Speaker 1: MC beauty actually points to Sole Dijenio's own public statements
- 30:14Speaker 1: about its success, including more than four hundred and fifty
- 30:18Speaker 1: million dollars in revenue in six months and a nineteen
- 30:22Speaker 1: percent year over year increase in US sales. So it's
- 30:26Speaker 1: basically pulling up sold Ejoneier's numbers and being like, did
- 30:30Speaker 1: it really hurt you that bad?
- 30:32Speaker 2: Like you've had a pretty good year.
- 30:33Speaker 4: I wonder if, like, yeah, I thought this is really interesting.
- 30:37Speaker 4: So I wonder if it's like, oh, no, you're not,
- 30:39Speaker 4: we're not stealing customers from you because people want the
- 30:42Speaker 4: real thing. Now, maybe you are actually helping you out
- 30:45Speaker 4: because it's like I didn't get the jupe, I have
- 30:47Speaker 4: the real thing.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the results of this lawsuit will be
- 30:53Speaker 1: really interesting. I will definitely set the tone for like
- 30:56Speaker 1: jupe culture as a whole. Yeah, because I think for
- 31:00Speaker 1: like both ends, I see people saying, you know, we
- 31:03Speaker 1: can't afford these ridiculously expensive makeup products, and that's too much.
- 31:07Speaker 1: And I also see the other side around the ethics
- 31:10Speaker 1: of like make affordable options, but you don't need to
- 31:14Speaker 1: rip off brands that have worked hard to create their product. Yeah.
- 31:18Speaker 1: And then I was going to say as well on
- 31:20Speaker 1: the false advertising claims as well, because they've worked with
- 31:23Speaker 1: influencers or just content creators even you know, individually have
- 31:27Speaker 1: created content around the dupes and comparing the two products.
- 31:30Speaker 1: And some people have said, like they smell exactly the
- 31:33Speaker 1: same and pointed out that they're.
- 31:34Speaker 2: The exact same product.
- 31:36Speaker 1: But MC Beauty's argument is, we never said that.
- 31:39Speaker 2: That was somebody else.
- 31:41Speaker 3: If m CO losers, what's going to happen to the
- 31:44Speaker 3: whole brand? They'll have to read that.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I think people will still they would just have to
- 31:48Speaker 1: change I would assume no lawyer, they would just have
- 31:51Speaker 1: to change that miss But I think it would probably
- 31:54Speaker 1: be the catalyst for a lot of brands that have
- 31:57Speaker 1: been duped to come out of the woodwork and throw
- 32:01Speaker 1: their hat in the ring. I think there'd be a
- 32:03Speaker 1: lot of time spending. Court room lois a load of money.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Do we know when, like we'll have the next installment? Yeah,
- 32:10Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Okay, I don't have to keep everyone updated the next
- 32:14Speaker 1: what's to tea? I know?
- 32:17Speaker 2: Well that's a wrap.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Exciting and I want everyone else to comment as well,
- 32:26Speaker 1: their thoughts and their tea from the week in the
- 32:29Speaker 1: comments below.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Thank you so much for having us in your earhels,
- 32:32Speaker 2: and thank you Maddie for joining us for tea time.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Thank you for having me. I'm quenched.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Thank you for having us in your ear holes.
- 32:40Speaker 1: We absolutely love to be here and we'll catch you
- 32:42Speaker 1: on Tuesday.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Bye checks, bye bye
