- 0:00So This is why girls with Asperger's syndrome may struggle
- 0:02with social interactions. Let's get into it guys.
- 0:04Welcome back to the aspy world. My name is Dave, autism, ADHD

- 0:11stuff because I believe it's my journey, my passion, my my, my
- 0:14goal in life is to help educate and help boost autistic people
- 0:17to their full capacity of being awesome on the autism spectrum.

- 0:26and join me on this journey. So guys, why?
- 0:28Why do girls with Asperger's syndrome struggle so much with
- 0:30social interaction? Well, it's really interesting
- 0:32because autistic people in general will have an issue with
- 0:35social interaction because social conventions are something
- 0:37that people pick up generally as they grow through high school
- 0:40and primary school and meeting friends and going out and doing
- 0:42all these things. But autistic individuals are
- 0:44very much more conservative in their value of where they go and
- 0:48how they communicate. And so having a social
- 0:50interaction will be few and far between and maybe a massive
- 0:53struggle for people on the auto of the spectrum because they're
- 0:55not as used to it and not as absorbent of those things as
- 1:00typical people. Now, girls in the spectrum have
- 1:02a harder time with this and this is because social interaction
- 1:06between women or females is very different because females are
- 1:10more of AI don't know how best to say it, more of a clicky type
- 1:13of of interaction where girls want to impress other girls so
- 1:17they feel part of that tribe, right?
- 1:18And this means that girls will try to do a lot of things to fit
- 1:22in. But when you're fitting in with
- 1:24a group of people that you don't really fully understand how to
- 1:26communicate with, you're going to come across problems.
- 1:29Now, these problems could come out in all kinds of ways where
- 1:31you you don't really know how to maintain friends properly.
- 1:34You're not going to be able to talk to friends in a way where
- 1:36you know your boundaries, what you should should talk about,
- 1:38what you can talk about, what's kind of like really sensitive
- 1:41topics and things like that. And then also how to keep up
- 1:44with friends, messaging them, maintaining their friendships
- 1:46for a long time. Like knowing that, hey, don't
- 1:50reach out every single day and talk to that person incessantly
- 1:52because that's going to annoy somebody.
- 1:54All of these factors come into social interaction and are big
- 1:57issues for girls in the autism spectrum.
- 1:59This is why you'll see autistic girls of girls diagnosed with
- 2:02autism or Asperger's syndrome will have quite 1 hatch issues
- 2:06on maintaining friendships with other girls.
- 2:08They may actually have an easier time maintaining friendships
- 2:10with other boys because boys have a different way of kind of
- 2:13communicating their their emotions in terms of masking and
- 2:17things like that. They kind of just just fall into
- 2:19it really, they just kind of go along with it and and boys are a
- 2:22little bit outside of the area of trying to oppress each other
- 2:26to be a part of a group. They're quite a more accepting,
- 2:28incisive group. No, I'm not saying that all
- 2:29girls, even when they try to make people conform to their
- 2:32ideas, our social ideas. That's what I'm trying to say.
- 2:34What I'm trying to say is that the behavioral traits of hunter
- 2:36gatherers are more kind of like they want to be accepting
- 2:38because mothers are protectors, they're carers.
- 2:41They're people who who pulled the tribe together as when we
- 2:43were going back to gathering days would be the people who
- 2:45were pulling the people together, making sure that we
- 2:47were safe. The men would be out hunting and
- 2:49fighting off saving to tigers, where the women would be keeping
- 2:51a social commune very close together.
- 2:54So This is why all the other females want to be very
- 2:58accepted, so they can move the tribe on.
- 3:00That's the kind of like anthropological idea there.
- 3:02So I do understand that girl synopsis factor will have issues
- 3:05with social interactions, but there are ways to overcome it by
- 3:08spending time more with people who are more social than you.
- 3:11So you can ask questions and learn from those people.
- 3:13And then also putting yourself out there in more social
- 3:16situations will get you more accustomed to what typical
- 3:18conversations are like. Super interesting, guys.
