- 0:16OK guys, so I have a autism life Hacks PDF book you can download
- 0:19for free from autismhacks.net right now.
- 0:22OK, so 10 lesson on physical signs of autism in girls.
- 0:25So 1st I'm going to talk about sensory processing issues.
- 0:27Now girls will experience essentially processing issues by
- 0:30being sensitive to touch sound like, you know, seeking out
- 0:34sensory environments, like they may really like plushies or, or,
- 0:37or or like squish mallows or something like that.
- 0:39But then they'd also have an aversion to things like Velcro
- 0:42or slime, which is really interesting because you have
- 0:44century seeking attitudes. In the century avoiding
- 0:46attitudes as well, there were two years delay in motor skill
- 0:49development. Now this could be fine.
- 0:51Most skills like picking up like pens or putting keys indoors to,
- 0:55you know, macro walls where you try to pick up a glass and not
- 0:57drop it. It's a physical sign of autism
- 0:59that will present themselves in females #3 is difficulty with
- 1:01social communication. Girls who are on the autism
- 1:03faction will have a difficulty in social communication, which
- 1:06will be more apparent when they're trying to write a
- 1:08letter, instant message or but do you like an academic kind of
- 1:12conversational piece? This will be struggling but for
- 1:15them because they will not really understand the social
- 1:17implications of a conversation in social communication.
- 1:19And before it's repetitive behaviour, this is kind of like
- 1:22doing the same thing over and again.
- 1:23It could be stimming, rocking backwards and forwards, hand
- 1:26flapping, you know, tapping their fingers together,
- 1:28twiddling their fingers together, twiddling their hair a
- 1:31lot, eating their hair. This is all self estimatory
- 1:33behaviour or stimming, which is a repetitive behaviour, but it's
- 1:37a physical kind of manifestation that you could recognize and
- 1:39notice #5 is difficulty with transitions, as is transitioning
- 1:42from being at school to being at home or vice versa or being at
- 1:45home. So being at the grocery store,
- 1:47all these things become very difficult.
- 1:48And what you'll find a lot of the time is the girl will really
- 1:51avoid doing the thing that has to change.
- 1:53So we'll just stay at home. We'll pretend to be sick so they
- 1:55stay at home. This will happen a lot,
- 1:57especially in social situations. This will become more apparent.
- 1:59Number six is eating disorders. Actually, some girls who also
- 2:02will be picky eaters or have difficulty with food textures.
- 2:05Not to mention social pressure and peer pressure from school
- 2:07where it's more prominent in girls to have more anxiety
- 2:10around food since there's a social conventional with things
- 2:13like that for young girls, which is horrible, but it happens when
- 2:17autism girls are are very well susceptible to that because of
- 2:19the neurological condition and the naivety of of social
- 2:22communication. So I'm just having sleeping
- 2:24issues as problems including like difficulty falling asleep,
- 2:27staying asleep, regulating sleep patterns, actually hitting Bram.
- 2:30It's going to be difficult because the mind of an autistic
- 2:32female is going 1000 miles an hour and they are trying to
- 2:35regulate themselves constantly and could very well come out in
- 2:39sleep issues #8 is anxiety and depression because autism and
- 2:42neurological condition It does cover mental health issues on
- 2:44anxiety and depression. Unfortunately are some of the
- 2:47ugly ones that do rear their head.
- 2:48For autistic individuals who are female, so #9 is an unusual
- 2:52walk. So some females in the autism
- 2:54spectrum may have an unusual walking style.
- 2:56Now this could be down to a motor delay or a sensory
- 2:59processing issue where they could be experiencing the
- 3:02feeling of walking on the floor quite uncomfortable and quite
- 3:04difficult. So #10 is hypertonia.
- 3:06Now hypertonia is a low muscle density or a low muscle tone
- 3:10which is like a physical sign of autism in girls, which means for
- 3:12the micro development for holding pens and other kind of
- 3:14small objects will be difficult because they'll have low muscle
- 3:16tone in their actual arms and they could be actually diagnosed
- 3:19with something called hypermobility also.
- 3:21Now guys if this video is interesting and educational

- 3:27comments. Peace.
