- 0:42SPEAKER_02: All right, gentlemen, happy September 23rd, 2026, and welcome to the 2-0 Hood All Day Podcast.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: I'm your host, Michael Berggs, in beautiful, carefree Arizona.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: Got our boys with us tonight.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Everybody in their respective spots.
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: Brian, Utah County, how are you living?
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: You know, it's good to be uh back in Utah County after a business trip.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: No shirt and tie this week.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Um, feeling good after, like you said, getting a 2-0.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Excited to talk about it.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Uh, you were live.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Uh, how did it feel to get that road win against, you know, a defense that I I can't believe we even showed up against because we were you should have been so scared against them.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: You know, it's funny to ask, because I was thinking about that.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: I love home games, I love getting back to to good old Cincinnati area.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Um, but there is not a I don't know if there's a better feeling than walking out of a road stadium with a W and the home fans a little quiet, a little somber walking out, and and then every about every 30 seconds or so, sometimes a little bit more as we kind of congregated together, and hearing a hoot, and they just get louder and louder, and it's like, oh, we we're take we've taken over the city for the night.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: So job well done.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: Absolutely love that.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: Brandt, northern Kentucky.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: Speaking of vibes, I know it's a little rainy, a little cool there, but vibes gotta be high.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: You gotta be feeling warm in the soul.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, fall has uh fall has come in, guys.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: It's a little chilly here, actually.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: So it uh went from like 92 degrees to like 60, you know how it does here in uh here in the good old homeland.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: But uh the Bengals, I tell you what, they're keeping me warm.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: I'm excited.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Like that this is everything I've ever wanted, guys.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Like the Bengals with what did I what did I say, a top 10 defense.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Woo! And look at these boys play.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Like, I I don't know if you can tell I'm excited, but I'm a little excited about talk about this defense.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: So let's get it going.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: Good times, good vibes, good feelings for sure.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: You all know the drill.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: We're gonna go four downs.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: First down, game balls again.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Let's give them out.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Second down, what do you continue to see that you're liking about this team?
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: Want us to keep doing, obviously.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Third down, what is something that is keeping you up at night?
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: That is an opportunity for us to get better.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: And then fourth down, why are we going three and oh since the first time since 2015 and winning in Pittsburgh?
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: Brian, kick us off.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: Who's your game ball?
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, since I I have a feeling that Brandt's gonna talk about the defense or wants to talk about the defense.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna give my ball to maybe the well, no, Dexter might be that guy right now.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna say he's the biggest Cincinnati Bengals in the locker room, and that is Amarius Mims.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Uh second game in a row, just fantastic.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: He's starting to become more and more of where he's got Joe's front side locked up.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: It's not a concern.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Um, he's just playing phenomenal.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And the thing that I'm loving out of him is yes, his pass protection is fantastic, but he's getting better and better in the run game.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Using that athletic ability to get to the second level and opening up things up for Chase Brown.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: There's a reason why on Jamar's, I mean, it counts as a pass, but that little you know shovel pass shovel pass, whatever you call it, that Jamar got.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: He picked up like eight yards.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: There's a reason we ran it to the right because Omaris is gonna hook that in and let him get to the outside.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: And so he's been fantastic, giant human being.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: That was my only time where maybe I I didn't breathe for a second, is when he had to come out of the game because I thought he was hurt.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I think supposedly he lost his shoe, is what the issue was.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: But so blew out his so big he blew out his shoe.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: So he's but he's been phenomenal.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to watch his matchup this weekend, and uh we'll I'm sure we're gonna get more into that.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: But yeah, game ball to big old number 71.
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: We have one of our uh listeners and followers, a wood too, was sending quite a bit of messages telling us that Amarius Mims, he wanted to bet cash that Amarius Mims would not finish in the top 10 as uh best right tackles in football after these two weeks.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: I know it's only two weeks, but when you see the tape and you actually break down the film, that is an awesome game ball, and to have that side locked up against 90 million dollars of defensive end superstars coming at you, amazing stuff, Brant.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Great minds think alike.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: So he was one of my three, maybe four, that I had on my list.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: So I appreciate uh Brian teeing it up for me to to highlight some uh well, not really some, right?
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: The one guy on the defense that just I think he shut up all the naysayers in one game that you know were saying, well, the Bengals are idiots for trading a 10th overall pick for this guy.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: He's washed.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: He, you know, lack of effort last year with the Giants.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Like they can keep saying whatever they want to say because if he keeps putting tape out like he just put up against the Texans, sexy Dexie.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: I mean, he just blew me away with his play.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: And I don't I don't think you can just I think the tone got set on that fourth in two inches.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: So Brian, there I don't know if you got to re-watch it, but they did the the you know, what is it, like the virtual uh yard marker, whatever that, yeah.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so they did the virtual yard, you know, measurement there, and it's two inches.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: And we're like, oh, you know, on on TV, you're like, that's easy.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: I thought they knew quarterback sneak, pick it up, no big deal.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: But you know, last year I'm thinking this is it's over, might as well just give them a first down right now.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: But this year I had a little bit of inclination, like, wait a minute, sexy dexie's out there.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Like, let's see what happens.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: And oh my god, like that guy just cuts through the center, Brown and Rutledge, and just you know, pierces the gap, closes on David Montgomery.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't even think David Montgomery knew what was happening, he just grabbed him and fell down.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: And like, I mean, when that guy, when you know, when sexy dexie just puts his weight on you or just has his arm on you, you're going down.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: There's no doubt.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: So that play set the tone for the rest of the game, I think, in the second quarter, and they knew it was gonna be a long day, and it was gonna be tough for them to score.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: So, I want you guys to know they went 0 for 4 in the red zone, and then they didn't put up points in the red zone, and a big part of that was sexy dexie.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: So, yes, his counting stats for those people that think they know ball, put on the tape because his counting stats are never gonna be, you know, out of this world, but the amount of attention that guy attracts and how much he opens up opportunities for the rest of the defense is just it's it's unreal.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: So he had three total tackles, one tackle for a loss on that fourth down play, one quarterback hit, and chirping all day and letting that offensive line know they couldn't do anything to stop him.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: So sexy dexy gets my game ball.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Unbelievable.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Heck yeah, he was worth a 10th overall pick.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: This is why I can't stand fantasy football, because people get obsessed with stats and numbers.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: I understand that when you watch film, it takes a minute to watch.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: And in this TikTok era, when you have to have such instant gratification, watch some of these snaps and these plays, and you see what a teammate Dexter Lawrence is.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: Because if he's not making a play, he is clogging up one, two, three offensive linemen and allowing everyone else to eat.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: The number two overall pick in the NFL draft this year was defensive end, outside linebacker, whatever you want to call him.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: David Bailey out of Texas Tech went to the New York Jets.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: He is number one in the NFL in quarterback pressures at eight.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: Number two is Cassius Howell.
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: Yes, Cassius is a special talent, but he is eating and having opportunities because of Dexter Lawrence.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Heard a great story today.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: I'm sure some of you saw it with Brock Purdy.
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: Brock, they were asking about his size.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: He's a big story because he's an Arizona kid out here.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: And he said, Yeah, you know what?
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: Doesn't matter at my hype, it doesn't matter.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: 60% of the plays, I probably can see where the ball is going.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: The other 40, I know where the defense is going to be.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: I know where my guys are going to be.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: I know where the ball is supposed to be.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: That knowing that, and what half of the NFL quarterbacks are going through, and then being able to turn loose somebody like Akassius Howell because Dexter has just absolutely manhandled what they're trying to do up front, is huge.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: One more uh stat, 19 targets for Jamar and T, 12 catches, 170, the two amazing touchdowns.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: The boys are strong.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: They haven't even gotten rolling.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: And that was against one of the best uh corners in all of football in uh Mr.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: Singletary.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: So super pumped.
- 10:55SPEAKER_02: Those are some great game balls.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: Second down, Brandt, what are you seeing that you want us to continue on with?
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: So we might as well just stay with the same theme since we've been, you know, hitting it hard.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: And uh, I'm just excited about it.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: I think we've been dying for it for several years now, ever since that 2022 defense.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: We just really haven't had this flavor of pressure, right?
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: Like just the amount of pressure that we're putting on the quarterback.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Uh, I have a feeling it's gonna continue.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: I don't think this is a blip on the radar these first two games, but just some quick stats for you guys.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: This defensive pressure that we're uh that we're putting on the quarterback, uh, 43 and a half percent pressure rate per next gen stats against the Texans.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: So we had a total of 41 pressures, 41 in one game.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Did we have 41 pressures all of last year?
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Uh might have been maybe at 40, you know.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: So 17 games, I think we got 40.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: So we almost, you know, yeah, all jokes aside, that's insane.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, it's very hard to come by getting that many pressures in one game.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: So it's just unbelievable.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: Uh we got four sacks.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: We forced CJ Stroud to throw 55 times.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: 55 times on a guy that's been struggling to make good decisions, giving up the ball.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: They just abandoned the run, fellas.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: So I think that speaks to our run defense as well.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: Like the run defense, the stuffing at the line with Dexter, TJ Slayton, Miles Murphy in there.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: Like the guys are just playing out of their mind against the run.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: And then when teams are forced to pass, like I said, we're getting pressure.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: This defensive line, and maybe this goes back to the to the game ball.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Maybe we really I should have thrown uh you know, maybe half a game ball at Duke Tobin and the job that he did with putting this defensive line together.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you guys saw at the end of the game Duke Tobin going up to Al and just whispering, you know, saying something in his ear and just giving him a huge hug.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: And you you just wonder if he was saying, like, let him doubt us, or like, just give me, you know, open up the checkbook.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: I'll make it happen.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: You know, whatever it would be.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: So uh let's keep the waves of defensive linemen coming.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: Like, I think the Bengals are living on a beach because the waves are just I love it.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: The waves of defensive linemen coming at these quarterbacks.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be a long day for Aaron Rodgers, so keep up the pressure, fellas.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: Elder abuse on Sunday.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: Love AA, Ron, but this could get ugly.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Uh, by the way, to add to to Brandt's they to the 55 pass attempts by CJ Stroud, they had 15 rushing attempts, and it was also for 31 yards.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: I think we would take that every game, all game.
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: Also, you talked about that great stop earlier by Dexter Lawrence.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: Because of that, they instead of just choosing to go for it again on fourth and short later in the game, they chose to kick a long field goal, which they also missed.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: So it just continued effect of Dexter, the pressure, the run uh defense.
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: Brian?
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: No, I'm I'm not gonna I'm not gonna deviate from what Brian said.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: That's that's what's set us apart on Sunday.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Um, it's what last year, I think us watching teams like the Rams, the Seahawks, the Eagles, even a little bit of New England in there is just a defensive line that dominates and doesn't quit.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: And it's like, yeah, you're in for a long day.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: D-line travels on the road.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Uh it's not like Dexter Lawrence is gonna get you know lose 100 pounds before the next time we're on the road.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: And it's it's it's fun.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: It I it's fun as a fan.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: Um every time Dex was like in the backfield, even if he wasn't making a play, but it's just wrecking habit.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: I I just kept yelling like how sexy he was to the and then there was a Bengals fan behind us, and anytime they Houston lined up on third down, and usually it was Dex making a play or helping somebody else make a play, this guy behind me just kept on yelling.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: He's like, uh-uh, uh-uh, no, sir, not happening.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: So it's it's it is fun.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: And I just there at the end of the game, yeah, Houston picked up some yards and got in the red zone again.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Um, but I just kept saying, Man, I I hope we get this strout a couple more times.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: And then Shamar Stewart, who was like your fifth DN on Sunday, comes up with the sack.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: And then on fourth down, the close, no better feeling to close out the game the game with the sack.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: And it's your fourth defensive end.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: And said Johnson, who was relentless on Sunday.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: And the reason why I said got to eat is because Cassius Howe was in the backfield before you know, felt like before the ball was even snapped.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: He's just come, he's just screaming off the edge.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: And it's it is a lot of fun.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: As great as 91 was, it is much more fun to have a full defensive line that just gets after it and is relentless.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: And if you haven't seen it, go and watch Dexter Mike Dub because you can see how they feed off of him.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: And and he just raises the bar that guys don't want to let him down.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Jonathan Allen is gonna have he's going to have a fantastic year, two sacks already, because he gets to play next to an all-pro.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: And and Jonathan Allen is still good enough to get it done in a in a really solid way.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: So it's a great part.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: With Jonathan Allen, you heard Jonathan Allen speaking before the game and saying, pretty much making fun of the fact that all the national pundits could say was, I would not want to face this Houston defense.
- 16:49SPEAKER_02: They are angry, they got embarrassed, and they got embarrassed again.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: And Jonathan Allen saying, you know what, we're the defense you should fear.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: The Bengals had the better defense on Sunday.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: I think this continues to go, like Brant said, on that because we've got that offense to go with it.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: And so what one thing I just want to add is I want to keep seeing us run the ball more.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: I think we're gonna have some opportunities on Sunday.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: We'll get into that.
- 17:17SPEAKER_02: But Brian, third down, what's still keeping you up at night?
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Um, I would say it's maybe two things, um, but it's it's definitely uh coverage at the linebacker level.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Um, I think Knight and Carter are doing better in the run game.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: There's fewer missed tackles than last year, but they get a little bit lost in pass coverage, and that's and that's concerning.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: Luckily, we had made Houston so one-dimensional, it didn't kill us.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: Uh, it just hurt a little bit.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: And they still have to get better at when they're the first guy there, which they usually they're they are there a lot of times, so they're getting into the right positions.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: There was a couple times where they didn't secure the tackle, um, and then a backer tight end was able to get one or two or three more yards, which uh you can't have.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Uh, you got to stop them in their tracks.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: The other thing is there's nothing wrong with the offensive run game, it's actually there.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Um, I'd like us to see us run four yards a pop.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we need to run more.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Chase Brown ended the game with 20 carries.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: He probably should have had at least five more uh in that game.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: He's running hard and running well.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: Uh, I know every time P Ryan gets the ball, somebody's gonna at least feel it.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: And so I hope, like, I hope he gets the ball.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: Both of those guys get the ball a lot on Sunday in the rain run game.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: And and but yeah, those are the two things, but primarily the linebackers on defense in coverage.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: If I again, you know, my fans of fantasy, but if you have to, if you choose to partake in maybe some fan duel and you want to go over on receptions for any tight ends or running backs for the Stellers this weekend, I would definitely pick the over.
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: Brant.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think the easy one would be the uh the amount of bur uh hits Burrow's taking.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna I'm gonna leave that one if you want to take that one, Mike.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: But it's still it's still on my mind, obviously.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: Like that's always, I think, as a as a Bengals fan, what everybody worries about, right?
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: Like just keeping Burrow healthy.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: But uh, I'm gonna turn the page and it might be a little nitpicking, and maybe I'd love to hear if you guys if you guys have kind of been thinking the same.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: But there have been some deep shots in both games, Tampa Bay and the Texans.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: And we look like definitely even with with DJ and Dax and Jalen, they're in trail technique, and they the receivers got to step on them.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: And when I go back and I watch, they're just not flipping their hips early enough when people are going vertical.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: And the throws are the the plays are there to be had right now, and I think we've been a little lucky, and I don't know if you can remember, Mike, but that first uh the Tampa Bay game and Tampa Bay, I think it was second play of the game, they opened up and went after Jalen, and he was they had him.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: It's just Baker threw it a little too far.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: And so I'd love for our DBs to make a little bit more of an adjustment.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you guys ever heard when uh you were at you know that beachwood practice, but from a DB standpoint, it was always you live by the rule.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: If they're even they're leaving, they're leaving, and I tell you what, they've been even a little too much for my liking lately.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: So I want to see our corners, including Jalen and Bobo, throw them all in there, just you know, flip those hips just a half second earlier, so we're not allowing that deep ball to uh to be even slightly enticing.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: Because I I think CJ Stroud saw it, I think Baker saw it.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: He knew he had they had him a couple times and they've just not connected.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: And we're gonna know the old man's looking for it.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: Who's looking for it?
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: Aaron Rodgers.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, Aaron's gonna be looking for it for sure because I think that's the only way they're gonna be able to score.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: Uh they're just struggling right now on offense.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, and you just don't want to give them any confidence by hitting a one over the top, and then they start feeling feeling good about themselves.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: Plus, make a murder.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: Everybody, if you ever watch and people get so mad with pass interference calls, anybody that flips their hips, turns their heads, they almost never get called as well when you make it go to make a play on the ball.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: You can get away with a little bit more, but I I like what you're saying on that on flipping the hips on the deep ball.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: Um, the other one I totally spaced it, so we're gonna go for it now.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: We're gonna go to the Steelers.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: I apologize.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: I was thinking about passing it and flipping hips and
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: All of a sudden I uh well I think just to help you out here a little bit, I think the penalties were a little bit of a uh like bugabrew.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: I was gonna say sloppy.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: And so when not only the penalties, you talked about Burrow getting hit.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: He only got hit three times in the first game.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: I know that there were some tough hits.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: It got ugly early.
- 22:19SPEAKER_02: I thought they helped the thing I'm gonna be interested in uh bringing Drew Sample over to help Orlando in the second half.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: The thing I'll be interested about, they flipped Will Anderson and Daniil Hunter.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: Daniel Hunter, I mean Will Anderson started on Mims, knew he wasn't getting anywhere, and came over to Orlando, and that's where he started eating.
- 22:37SPEAKER_02: I'll be interested to see Sunday where TJ Watt starts the game.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: I have a feeling it's wherever Orlando Brown is going to be.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: That was my going to be on that side.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: You're right on the penalties.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: I felt it was a little sloppy.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: That will get cleaned up.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be tough in Pittsburgh, it's gonna be loud.
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: They're nervous, but I have a feeling we can get them to turn on their fans quickly.
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: Brandt, fourth down.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: Why we win in Sunday.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: Why are we going one and oh again?
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: I think it you got to keep riding this defense.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: And the Pittsburgh offense is struggling, like I said.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think particularly their offensive line is still trying to figure out what they really got and how they're gonna play together.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: Communication uh issues have popped up for them.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: So if you give them some different looks, maybe bring a couple blitzes or two.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: Here's the crazy thing, guys.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: We're I mean, I well, are we second in the NFL right now with pass rush?
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: And yeah, and we are the least blitzing team, I believe, in the whole NFL.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: Do you know who's number one is Minnesota, who blitz the most?
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: So we're winning with four.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: Or, you know, we're winning with three, even on that last play against the Texans.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: So I love that if it can continue, but I I think Al's got to be you know, keep picking his spots when he really wants to dial it up and maybe send knight from that outside linebacker position.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: But keep putting pressure on Aaron Rodgers, he coughed up the ball against the Pats.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, the turnovers.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: We need to keep creating more opportunities for our offense.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Uh then I would love, we kind of talked about before we hopped on.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, I would love to lean on the run game because Pittsburgh's really been struggling to stop the run.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, they have a solid defensive line.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: I don't play into their strengths and throw 40 times a game when you can run the ball and still win, grind it out, and show them that you're the more physical team.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: And then keep you know that pass rush at bay and keep TJ Watt and High Smith thinking, uh, and you know, throw over the top, do more play action.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Burrow, you keep doing it.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: I think he's gonna keep getting better at it.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: And here's the crazy thing, fellas.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: Burrow has not played his nearly his best ball yet.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: Not even close.
- 25:02unknown: No.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: Like this this offense hasn't clicked yet.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: And that's the excitement for this 2-0, is because this is this is you both have talked about it on the podcast.
- 25:11SPEAKER_02: Tonight is we have been the more physical team putting our presence on there first.
- 25:17SPEAKER_02: Love that for Sunday, Brian.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh, you know, some similar thoughts to what Brandt laid out.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: I think the defense continues to to eat.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: Uh, we did not, we were dominant on defense last week against Houston, but we did not have a turnover.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I think we get to back to being a turnover team team, and I we get our first interception of the year on Sunday, which is gonna help out.
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think we'll be the more physical team.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: And then the thing that I did see out of Joe Burrow that on Sunday that that gets me really excited is I saw that that Joe Burrow that can escape the pocket if needed.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: And that guy, when he's out of the pocket making a play, he is tremendous.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: And yes, a lot of it is Joe and his vision and his eyes still down the field.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: Because there was a couple times on Sunday where I was like, run, Joe, and he was like, No, I got I got some guys down the field that are much better with the ball in their hands than me.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: And T coming across the middle at least twice.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: Jamar on his second touchdown, same thing, is Joe got out of the pocket, broke a tackle, got out of the pocket, and it's like you you can't do anything about it.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: Because if you come up, he's gonna kill you, and if you stay back, Joe's athletic enough to get some yards.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: So I that's that's Joe Sheisty, is when that kind of stuff happens.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: He's no longer Joe Burrow.
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: And and yeah, Joe Sheisty's back.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: And so you know what?
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: Put some pressure on him.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: If he escapes, if Pittsburgh, if you let him get out of the pocket, he's going to smoke you on Sunday.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: So you better keep him in the pocket.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: I can't believe I'm saying that about number nine.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: But when he gets out of the pocket and those receivers are too good, they're gonna run away from you and find find an open spot.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: Hiseki's too good.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: Chase Brown out of the backfield's too good.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: So I'm excited because Shicey's back.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: And like you, like you guys said, he hasn't played a good game yet.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: He said he was average at best on Sunday, and he got the jump.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: No, no turnovers, two touchdowns.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: I'll take that every week.
- 27:21SPEAKER_02: Totally.
- 27:22SPEAKER_02: And that's I see Brant shaking his head and smiling and laughing.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: Back to the Orlando Brown.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: You want to help the pressure step up in the pocket.
- 27:28SPEAKER_02: There were a couple times Burrow, I think, saw the pressure coming, thought he could wait and make something happen.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: Instead, I'd either like to see him throw it away or step up.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: Because when he does step up and he starts being shisty, that's when this defenses start taking the cheap shots and we get an extra 15 yards.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: And that wakes that guy up.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: I don't want him to get hit anymore.
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: But I'm telling you, that is uh that is a definitely plays into Joe.
- 27:52SPEAKER_02: Other, like I just talked about earlier, covered the tight ends and the running backs.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: They're gonna he Aaron Rodgers is is good wants to take the top off.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: I think they're gonna listen to Brandt's uh defensive coaching on the secondary to be on the lookout for that.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: It has been susceptible the last two games.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: So that means Captain Checkdown is gonna be there all game.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: Got to stop that, make your tackles, run the dang ball.
- 28:16SPEAKER_02: We are the better team.
- 28:17SPEAKER_02: We are more physical.
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: I even want to see Taj Brooks get a couple carries.
- 28:21SPEAKER_02: He's on the roster.
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: Give him a couple carries, hang on to that dang rock as well.
- 28:25SPEAKER_02: But there's no reason we should not walk out of Pittsburgh.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: Better team, more physical, match our 2015 record.
- 28:32SPEAKER_02: We just want to go one and oh on Sunday, but that does put us three games up on the Steelers because it'd be two in the loss column and one on the head-to-head, which is huge.
- 28:42SPEAKER_02: So it's technically three up already into week three, which is huge.
- 28:47SPEAKER_02: You both are the best.
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry that we're not at the games live, but super excited to text away as we're watching on Sunday, game of the week early.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be fun.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Hoodé all day.
