- 0:02Speaker 1: Podcast, check it out.
- 0:03Speaker 2: But Joe Logan Experience Train by Day, Joe.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Roggy Podcast by Night, All Day. Good to see it same.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We were just talking, so I had a pause Jamie
- 0:20Speaker 1: before the podcast. So you were telling me that Lebron
- 0:22Speaker 1: James is not gonna go back to the Lakers. How
- 0:26Speaker 1: is he now forty one? Forty one? What is the
- 0:32Speaker 1: oldest that elite athlete has been?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Tom Brady's forty four? I think NFL QB. That'd be
- 0:38Speaker 3: pretty high up there.
- 0:40Speaker 2: How was Kareem?
- 0:43Speaker 1: That's a good question, hos Kareem when he retired.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Hopkins I think would be the next.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Bernard Hopkins is number one. Yeah, but we were talking
- 0:50Speaker 1: about how you beat Kelly Pavlich forty two.
- 0:54Speaker 2: But Bend had a couple of years to incubate a
- 0:58Speaker 2: little bit.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Oh yeah, etail about that, Yeah, not take damage and
- 1:05Speaker 1: steal up the mind. He he had the most intense discipline.
- 1:09Speaker 1: That guy never got out of shape, which is also
- 1:11Speaker 1: a giant contributor to Longevitor. Never never was building back.
- 1:16Speaker 1: You know, he wasn't like a forty two year old
- 1:18Speaker 1: who was like, you know, he took six months off.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I haven't been in the gym now, but no, no, no,
- 1:24Speaker 1: every day it was running nutrition, everything was always on point,
- 1:29Speaker 1: never varied. He was like forty two, I think, so
- 1:32Speaker 1: he might be the oldest of the past guys. But
- 1:35Speaker 1: this was before all the science, right.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah, science changes things.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Science, So we were just talking about the science. So, Jamie,
- 1:43Speaker 1: what are they allowed to take and not allowed to take?
- 1:45Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:47Speaker 3: It's like that. The NBA used to, like, I think
- 1:49Speaker 3: for like weed stuff, they used to say that it's
- 1:51Speaker 3: like they'd get tested. I think like October first, which
- 1:54Speaker 3: is like right when preseason starts for weed. Yeah, and
- 1:56Speaker 3: so like if as long as you were clean on
- 1:58Speaker 3: October first, they're good because they want to test their
- 2:01Speaker 3: rest here that's ridiculous. But now i'd like, I know,
- 2:05Speaker 3: in the NFL, if you have a crazy game, you're
- 2:08Speaker 3: gonna get tested the next day. They're just gonna check
- 2:10Speaker 3: you for what was going on with you?
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, why would you play good?
- 2:14Speaker 2: Ridiculous.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I don't think the NBA does that specifically, but I
- 2:17Speaker 3: don't know honestly.
- 2:19Speaker 1: So what are the rules in the NBA in terms
- 2:20Speaker 1: of marijuana? Now? I thought that was part of the
- 2:23Speaker 1: thing that they negotiated in the contract to make sure
- 2:25Speaker 1: because a lot of players like to be high when
- 2:27Speaker 1: they play.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I think they might. They might just have just stopped
- 2:31Speaker 3: testing for it as all.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I want to mention names. But I'm friends with some
- 2:35Speaker 1: guys and they tell me they can't play unless they're high.
- 2:40Speaker 1: That's the same thing with pool players. I know a
- 2:41Speaker 1: lot of pool players. They like to get lit before
- 2:45Speaker 1: they get on the table.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yeah, poo, pool shit, you should be playing pool?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah, you feel things better? Here we go. NBA can
- 2:52Speaker 1: randomly drug test each player up to four times during
- 2:54Speaker 1: the season and two times in the offseason, with the
- 2:56Speaker 1: additional test allowed anytime there is reasonable car but marijuana
- 3:01Speaker 1: is no longer part of the standard testing panel. Yes, sir, Yeah,
- 3:05Speaker 1: so they can smoke weed, which makes sense. Let them,
- 3:08Speaker 1: it's not what are you doing, It's not hurting anybody,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and they play better with it. I think leave them alone,
- 3:14Speaker 1: That's what I think. Unless they're doing unless they're doing meth,
- 3:19Speaker 1: unless they're doing you know what I mean.
- 3:20Speaker 3: They also had another big betting scandal is kind of
- 3:23Speaker 3: broken recently four hours there oh no, our player has
- 3:28Speaker 3: been called out for throwing at least four games and
- 3:33Speaker 3: then where that's gonna go from here is kind of
- 3:35Speaker 3: being speculated online.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'll tell you where that goes. If people find out
- 3:39Speaker 1: that goes to bullets, that's the problem. The problem with
- 3:42Speaker 1: someone throwing a game is somebody bet on that fucking game.
- 3:46Speaker 1: A lot of people bet on.
- 3:47Speaker 3: The cases I've seen though, are like the overse like
- 3:50Speaker 3: they had player props and like he needed four point
- 3:52Speaker 3: five rebounds and he has four, and he's just trying extremely, extremely,
- 3:56Speaker 3: extremely hard to get that extra rebound, which is.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Like, wait about that bad? That means he's playing well.
- 4:02Speaker 3: The other one, which was, uh, he was fixing a
- 4:04Speaker 3: spread at like in the last second, like he sprinted
- 4:07Speaker 3: down the court to get an extra basket with like
- 4:09Speaker 3: three seconds on the clock when they were down by
- 4:10Speaker 3: ten or seven technically to beat the eight and a
- 4:13Speaker 3: half point spread.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but so what it's just scoring? How can you ever?
- 4:19Speaker 3: It's just as when you watching basketball enough, you go like,
- 4:22Speaker 3: that doesn't happen that often.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Why would you do that?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Especially you used to be throwing the ball and yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 2: just throwing it down there, not you running down I know, but.
- 4:32Speaker 1: If you can do it and score, well, how do
- 4:35Speaker 1: you do it? I don't even understand why anybody would
- 4:37Speaker 1: question that.
- 4:37Speaker 2: You down by ten, it's five seconds to go the game.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You want that ball in the net?
- 4:43Speaker 2: You man, no, what why because that's not going to change.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Oh we lost by eight, But if.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You're competitive to the end, you never give up. And
- 4:56Speaker 1: even though you know you're losing.
- 4:57Speaker 2: And no starters on the floor at this time, you
- 5:00Speaker 2: down by team is five seconds ago, no, no stought
- 5:03Speaker 2: is one.
- 5:04Speaker 1: But it's not like he's missing on purpose. So it's
- 5:08Speaker 1: one thing if the guy's like missing on purpose, but
- 5:10Speaker 1: if he's scoring on purpose, all right, it's a similar thing.
- 5:15Speaker 3: World Cup just happened like two three nights ago, where
- 5:18Speaker 3: they just got under the knockout round, you know, so
- 5:20Speaker 3: that the big tournament was every team plays three games
- 5:23Speaker 3: to figure out where you figure where you end up
- 5:25Speaker 3: to play the next part of the tournament. Ten teams
- 5:27Speaker 3: get eliminated. Uh huh uh. Third place teams for the
- 5:30Speaker 3: first time ever can make it through. And so there
- 5:32Speaker 3: was a I think it was Algeria and I forget
- 5:35Speaker 3: the other team, sorry, but if they both tied, they
- 5:39Speaker 3: both move through. If one team wins and one team loses,
- 5:42Speaker 3: one team goes through. And then they're like with four
- 5:45Speaker 3: minutes to go in the game, they're kind of just
- 5:47Speaker 3: passing the ball around. The scores tied, and one team
- 5:49Speaker 3: goes ahead and scores, and it kind of starts to
- 5:52Speaker 3: fight on the field where you see the other team
- 5:54Speaker 3: yelling at the other team like fuck you, Like I
- 5:57Speaker 3: don't know exactly what they're saying, but like what like
- 5:59Speaker 3: when and it was like two minutes to go, the
- 6:02Speaker 3: other team sort of just stops playing defense and kind
- 6:04Speaker 3: of seems to like let them score.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Oh God, It's like, how do don't they have mics
- 6:15Speaker 1: on those guys? It's such a they have to have
- 6:18Speaker 1: mics on somebody. They have strong mics now, and they
- 6:21Speaker 1: have people that can lip read, they can pick up Hey, motherfucker,
- 6:25Speaker 1: are you supposed to leave this at tie? If that happens,
- 6:28Speaker 1: like you can't play anymore, right, Like what happens to
- 6:30Speaker 1: those guys they have to get suspended.
- 6:32Speaker 3: For That'd be the entire That'd be both teams, the coaches,
- 6:34Speaker 3: it'd be everybody.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I don't really know how it's going to pan out,
- 6:38Speaker 3: but it was.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Very what a conundrum. How could you do that? Like
- 6:44Speaker 1: I hate that, this is what this is what I
- 6:47Speaker 1: don't like about sports betting, not that because that's about advancing,
- 6:51Speaker 1: but about sports betting is the even the consideration that
- 6:55Speaker 1: a person is playing a certain way because they're worried
- 6:58Speaker 1: about a spread, or because they're been paid off to
- 7:01Speaker 1: not score, or they've been paid off to foul. You know,
- 7:05Speaker 1: like there's the problem with these things is you could
- 7:07Speaker 1: bet on anything.
- 7:09Speaker 4: You can bet on anything, anything, anything, So if you're
- 7:13Speaker 4: a crooked and what has been like the most crooked
- 7:16Speaker 4: aspect of the fucking human race over the past like
- 7:20Speaker 4: one hundred years, other than the legal system, the most
- 7:23Speaker 4: crooked aspect there's been sports betting.
- 7:26Speaker 1: It's always crooked sports, some politics, pol they're all the same. Yeah,
- 7:31Speaker 1: it's the same. It's money, it's anywhere anytime, it's money involved,
- 7:34Speaker 1: and decisions can be shifted, influence can be used to
- 7:38Speaker 1: make something happen.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But it seems like that with with most things that
- 7:43Speaker 2: people you know have some type of you know, hierarchy,
- 7:48Speaker 2: desire for they they they gonna put something in, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 2: like even with like awards in games, this is a
- 7:58Speaker 2: who can promote the best and who can if you
- 8:01Speaker 2: can take all the people that vote to dinner and
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know, smuse them at dinner. It's going to be
- 8:12Speaker 2: a thing where who's going to beat you when you
- 8:16Speaker 2: have all the voters, or you have a situation where
- 8:20Speaker 2: you have people that work for your company that can vote,
- 8:23Speaker 2: saying who, how are you not going to vote for
- 8:26Speaker 2: the project that the company put out? Right, Yeah, you
- 8:30Speaker 2: know we got sixty voters, you know, so we at
- 8:33Speaker 2: least got sixty votes.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I think you said it best when you said the hierarchy.
- 8:37Speaker 1: That's really what it is. It's in anything that has
- 8:39Speaker 1: any kind of a hierarchy. Politics is the ultimate example.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Politics is the ultimate ultimate example.
- 8:45Speaker 1: But there's there's that hierarchy shit in everything in the world. Everything.
- 8:50Speaker 1: It trips people up.
- 8:51Speaker 2: But with politics it is a little more detrimental than
- 8:56Speaker 2: with sports. You know, sports sports is you know, you
- 8:58Speaker 2: gambling people trying to win things. But with politics, it's
- 9:02Speaker 2: like if you're not somebody that's not qualified can be
- 9:10Speaker 2: in a position where you know, they make a decisions
- 9:14Speaker 2: on the masses of people's lives.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Not just that they can appoint judges, which is they
- 9:19Speaker 1: can appoint crazy judges. Like there's obviously judges, like they
- 9:23Speaker 1: have disputes, Well, why do they have disputes because they're
- 9:26Speaker 1: ideologically captured on both sides. There's people that are like,
- 9:30Speaker 1: you know, like certain right wing judges. You throw some
- 9:33Speaker 1: case out there, that's a right wing case, what abortion rights,
- 9:37Speaker 1: whatever it is, immigration, you know how they're gonna vote.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Same thing with left wing people, like hardcore left wing people.
- 9:43Speaker 1: You guarantee trans women in sports, trans women or women
- 9:46Speaker 1: let play in sports. That was a recent Supreme Court order.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Three judges said that trans women should be able to
- 9:53Speaker 1: play in women's sports. The rest of them said fuck no.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Six canceled it out luckily.
- 9:58Speaker 2: And you know those people are not take into account
- 10:02Speaker 2: the sport like it's a difference if you was originally
- 10:06Speaker 2: something and now you're playing a something else, your strength
- 10:10Speaker 2: is different everything. And you know you don't feel that
- 10:13Speaker 2: until your daughter get knocked out the ring when she's
- 10:16Speaker 2: supposed to be boxing somebody that that's the same agenda,
- 10:19Speaker 2: and then now she's holds out. Our phase broke from
- 10:23Speaker 2: you know.
- 10:23Speaker 1: It's insane, it's insane, it's and it's not cruel to
- 10:26Speaker 1: not let that happen in sports. That's what Title nine
- 10:28Speaker 1: is about in the first place. Give women the opportunity
- 10:31Speaker 1: to play in an equal time as men's. It's a
- 10:35Speaker 1: good thing. Having men that think they're women play with
- 10:38Speaker 1: women is fucking crazy. Like what it doesn't mean, you know,
- 10:42Speaker 1: you need to castles people out of society, doesn't mean anything.
- 10:45Speaker 1: You live and let live. I agree, but get the
- 10:48Speaker 1: fuck out of the women's room. Give a dick, you
- 10:52Speaker 1: get the fuck off the team' you're running track at
- 10:55Speaker 1: a literal a women's Olympic level and you're fifteen. Why
- 10:59Speaker 1: because as you have a dick, this is crazy. You're
- 11:01Speaker 1: not really a girl. This is nuts.
- 11:03Speaker 2: That's the that's the world we live in. And what's
- 11:07Speaker 2: I'm not even gonna say that's the world we live in.
- 11:09Speaker 2: That's the world that's being presented to us at this point.
- 11:11Speaker 2: That that's right, you know, and it's you know, it's
- 11:14Speaker 2: a lot of things. It's like this man, you this
- 11:18Speaker 2: is why in comedy I choose not to go the
- 11:23Speaker 2: current of the current affail or the political route, because
- 11:27Speaker 2: I don't have time to separate the room. I'm too
- 11:30Speaker 2: busy trying to do things to bring the room together.
- 11:33Speaker 2: And that's more of a righteous aim for me.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Well you I said this before, I also say it live publicly.
- 11:41Speaker 1: What you've done is very extraordinary because you've made a
- 11:44Speaker 1: giant following online completely organically. It's very inspiring because all
- 11:50Speaker 1: you do is just do your thing the best that
- 11:52Speaker 1: you can and put it out there and it just
- 11:54Speaker 1: keeps growing. It's amazing, it's very it's very cool, it's
- 11:58Speaker 1: very inspirational, and it's you should be proud of it
- 12:01Speaker 1: because what you've done, like I said, it's totally organic.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Like you don't have a bunch of production companies pushing
- 12:09Speaker 1: you and trying to make you more popular than you are. No,
- 12:12Speaker 1: it's all just putting it out there and getting this
- 12:16Speaker 1: gigantic following just from your work. Just the work.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Appreciate it. And then you know, even with that, you
- 12:21Speaker 2: still have some type of responsibility to not see things
- 12:28Speaker 2: the same as other people. Like what I just got
- 12:31Speaker 2: all this flack about me talking about the how this
- 12:37Speaker 2: business of people inflating things has caused depression in comics.
- 12:43Speaker 2: You know that we're supposed to be a happy craft,
- 12:47Speaker 2: but now it's this big push about if you're not
- 12:50Speaker 2: on social media, you're not on this, You're not on
- 12:52Speaker 2: a lot of these comics are you know, going through
- 12:54Speaker 2: this mental health thing where they always sad about their numbers,
- 12:59Speaker 2: you know, or this, that and the third like, yo, man,
- 13:02Speaker 2: it is a it's a thing, and some people inflate things,
- 13:05Speaker 2: and everybody wants to be on the same level. So
- 13:11Speaker 2: sometimes you you can't be or you can, but people
- 13:16Speaker 2: look at it as a certain way where when you're
- 13:18Speaker 2: proud of the steps that you've taken. And if I
- 13:23Speaker 2: played in the G League, that's not the NBA. So
- 13:27Speaker 2: I wouldn't say that I was playing I played in
- 13:29Speaker 2: the league because I know what the league means. I know,
- 13:31Speaker 2: you know, I know this says this the G League.
- 13:34Speaker 2: But when I present myself, yo, you know, I play
- 13:37Speaker 2: in the league, people automatically think the NBA. You know,
- 13:40Speaker 2: it's not it's not. The G League is not and
- 13:43Speaker 2: not knocking the G League, but that's not the first
- 13:45Speaker 2: thing that comes to my mind, you know, you know,
- 13:49Speaker 2: it's just a playing for the Washington Generals is not
- 13:54Speaker 2: the NBA. Even though you played against the Globe Trotters,
- 13:57Speaker 2: they were great players. We know how this game goes.
- 14:01Speaker 2: But people, that's how people see things now.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Well, the number things is real. The numbers thing is
- 14:07Speaker 1: a real problem with people because it gives you a
- 14:10Speaker 1: quantifiable measure of whether or not you're doing well. And
- 14:14Speaker 1: if you already have anxiety, which a lot of comedians have,
- 14:17Speaker 1: you're already like socially awkward, which a lot of comedians are.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You don't feel accepted, how a lot of comedians feel.
- 14:24Speaker 1: And then you look at those numbers, You're like, twenty
- 14:26Speaker 1: four hundred. I only have twenty four hundred followers. I've
- 14:29Speaker 1: been doing comedy for seven years. Why do I only
- 14:31Speaker 1: have twenty four hundred follow And then you go to
- 14:33Speaker 1: someone's page that you never even heard of have one
- 14:35Speaker 1: point two million. You're like, what the fuck.
- 14:37Speaker 2: And so this is about being grateful in the position
- 14:43Speaker 2: that you're in. I remember when they would people was
- 14:47Speaker 2: pushing me how you need to get on the internet,
- 14:49Speaker 2: you need to be on social media to be okay.
- 14:52Speaker 2: But I would see those people that had all those followers,
- 14:56Speaker 2: and that same year, the year before that, I did
- 14:59Speaker 2: a half hour special Comedy Central. Then the year twenty eighteen,
- 15:03Speaker 2: I did a full hour of special for Comedy Central.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I had five hundred followers on Instagram. I had three
- 15:13Speaker 2: hundred followers, three hundred subscribers on YouTube on a page
- 15:17Speaker 2: that I didn't own. I had to fight to get
- 15:19Speaker 2: this page. I had less people on Facebook, but I
- 15:25Speaker 2: was efficient in what I was doing, so the numbers
- 15:29Speaker 2: didn't They didn't pick me because I had these numbers.
- 15:32Speaker 2: They picked me because I came and I did what
- 15:35Speaker 2: I did, and then they, oh, he's great. So then
- 15:38Speaker 2: we started going, you know, a route to build it up,
- 15:43Speaker 2: but we were already getting things prior.
- 15:46Speaker 1: To the numbers, right were years this again.
- 15:48Speaker 2: This is seventeen and eighteen.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Okay, So the difference is that in seventeen and eighteen
- 15:54Speaker 1: people were just starting to be aware of the power
- 15:58Speaker 1: of social media, and then they were really concentrating on
- 16:03Speaker 1: different comics that had a large social media following. You know,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I think that was like right when it first started happening.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Dane Cook had blew up before that.
- 16:11Speaker 1: That was a yeah, that was a MySpace.
- 16:12Speaker 2: That was a MySpace to have the Internet another Internet trail.
- 16:15Speaker 1: That's true, that was different. But the differences, like he
- 16:19Speaker 1: had gotten so huge just from that that he was
- 16:22Speaker 1: already doing like arenas and when they so he was
- 16:26Speaker 1: already huge and then they just went with him. But
- 16:28Speaker 1: he was like super popular. Now it's like super popular
- 16:32Speaker 1: on social media. It's one of the most important things.
- 16:35Speaker 2: So now now moving up to this because I have
- 16:38Speaker 2: a strong walk with this. So I have a million
- 16:42Speaker 2: follows here, a million followers there, all these specialist I
- 16:45Speaker 2: still didn't get invited to the BT Awards. I still
- 16:48Speaker 2: didn't get in. I still don't get invited to a
- 16:50Speaker 2: bunch of things. I still get looked over for things,
- 16:53Speaker 2: even though I have numbers and success. But I don't
- 16:55Speaker 2: worry about it. I'm just in my I'm not watching
- 16:59Speaker 2: to judge my self against what somebody else is doing.
- 17:02Speaker 2: It's guys who have less everything, but they're in this
- 17:06Speaker 2: in this round where they they had every they had everything.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I see guys is at everything with no with no
- 17:14Speaker 2: specials and no proven thing. They just around and I'm like, okay,
- 17:19Speaker 2: but it's I'm not I think the point that I'm
- 17:22Speaker 2: not judging myself up against what somebody is doing socially.
- 17:26Speaker 1: But that's also easier when you're successful, and you're successful,
- 17:31Speaker 1: you're very successful. So the difference is like when you
- 17:33Speaker 1: sell out these shows and you put out these specials,
- 17:36Speaker 1: like I've seen your specials have millions of views, So
- 17:39Speaker 1: it's like, obviously you have a following if you didn't
- 17:42Speaker 1: and you were doing the same thing, then it'll be
- 17:44Speaker 1: a problem. But then also that would It's like comedy
- 17:48Speaker 1: in a lot of ways, not always, but a lot
- 17:50Speaker 1: of ways. Is a meritocracy. If you're good, people will come.

- 19:10Speaker 2: But I also have no desire to inflate things and
- 19:18Speaker 2: compare myself to somebody else, make myself seem like I'm
- 19:23Speaker 2: more than what it is. Like Guys, hey man, I
- 19:26Speaker 2: got I'm at this room. I got fifty tickets sold, Okay,
- 19:32Speaker 2: how much the room? See the room seat three hundred? Okay, cool?
- 19:36Speaker 2: You have fifty people more than you have then if
- 19:40Speaker 2: you didn't play the room. You know what I'm saying,
- 19:42Speaker 2: because who knows you in Utah? Your building. It's a
- 19:46Speaker 2: building thing. Like I got all of this, all of
- 19:49Speaker 2: this going on. But if I go to Utah, I'm
- 19:53Speaker 2: in a comedy club, it doesn't matter what happened the
- 19:57Speaker 2: night before. I was just an arena. But in you tall,
- 20:00Speaker 2: it's like it takes me back to on trading places.
- 20:03Speaker 2: It was saying, he said, hey, man, this is he gave,
- 20:06Speaker 2: he gives all this elaborate what this watch is. And
- 20:09Speaker 2: that man said, this is what this calls in saying,
- 20:11Speaker 2: Look like, I don't care about you ponding the watch
- 20:15Speaker 2: what I'm saying, So I don't have that, and I'm
- 20:19Speaker 2: not if I it's like you. You you own a club, Okay,
- 20:23Speaker 2: it's guys that can come to your club and sell
- 20:26Speaker 2: your club out. And then it's guys that come to
- 20:29Speaker 2: the club and you pay for the room. Okay, Then
- 20:32Speaker 2: there's guys like when you're in the theater. Some you
- 20:36Speaker 2: can scale a theater down. Some theaters hold forty six
- 20:39Speaker 2: hundred people, but you can scale it down to two thousand.
- 20:43Speaker 2: But then the I'm not going to say, if the
- 20:47Speaker 2: room holds forty six hundred, I put two thousand tickets
- 20:52Speaker 2: on sale. I didn't sell out the theater. I sold
- 20:58Speaker 2: what I put on sale. You know what I'm saying,
- 21:00Speaker 2: Because I'm not to the point where I can get
- 21:02Speaker 2: the forty six hundred. Yet if I could sell the
- 21:04Speaker 2: room out, then I would need to relish the real
- 21:07Speaker 2: accomplishment versus the the lesser accomplishment.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:13Speaker 2: And that's and because I don't have this thing where
- 21:18Speaker 2: I'm in competition with what happened before me, you.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Know, so with people.
- 21:24Speaker 2: So I'm in San Antonio, we at we're at the theater.
- 21:29Speaker 2: And because people can make you feel bad about anything.
- 21:32Speaker 2: If you if you a person that feels bad, just
- 21:35Speaker 2: think Minnesota. It's it's all these people that's on the
- 21:41Speaker 2: team that play for the Boston Celtics that are millionaires.
- 21:45Speaker 2: They already millionaires, they play in the league. Boston traded
- 21:51Speaker 2: seven people to Minnesota for one person, Kevin Garnett. They
- 21:58Speaker 2: got rid of seven human for one person. So it's like,
- 22:04Speaker 2: if I was a person that felt bad about my career,
- 22:07Speaker 2: this would would make me feel bad. Like they they
- 22:09Speaker 2: like the first person that they the Okah, I'm gona
- 22:12Speaker 2: trade this person for that. They're like, no, well i'm
- 22:14Speaker 2: gonna give you two more people. They're like no, and
- 22:17Speaker 2: then I'm gonna give you four more people like okay,
- 22:20Speaker 2: and and and a lottery pick. Okay, I'm gonna feel horrible.
- 22:26Speaker 2: They traded me for seven people. Y'all don't even want
- 22:28Speaker 2: me realistically, So Boston went they got Kevin Garnett. I mean,
- 22:35Speaker 2: what's yeah, Kevin Garnett and seven other millionaires. They got
- 22:39Speaker 2: all this money, got all this they went to Minnesota.
- 22:43Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. So if somebody wanted to
- 22:46Speaker 2: make you feel bad about something, you know, they they
- 22:49Speaker 2: could if that's how you are. So I'm at I'm
- 22:51Speaker 2: in San Antonio. The line is around the block. The
- 22:56Speaker 2: place is sold out. It's the same set out, no
- 22:59Speaker 2: matter who come to like that. Lady said to my
- 23:01Speaker 2: face tomorrow, you should have saw it when mad Rife came.
- 23:09Speaker 1: In my mind, I like, and I ad.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Let's say, was it a different theater? She said, no,
- 23:13Speaker 2: same theater. So when Matt Rife came, he sold it out.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I sold out two nights, I mean two days in
- 23:20Speaker 2: the same night. But her thing was, you should have
- 23:23Speaker 2: saw when mad Rife came. I was like, Okay, she
- 23:26Speaker 2: probably wanted you to feel bad.
- 23:29Speaker 1: I was like, but I'm not good for you, but
- 23:31Speaker 1: good for you. But the thing is a lot of
- 23:32Speaker 1: people would That's what it is. A lot of people
- 23:34Speaker 1: are in competition with other people. I think you should
- 23:38Speaker 1: be inspired by other people, you know, if you want
- 23:40Speaker 1: to compete in that way, be inspired. But the moment
- 23:42Speaker 1: you turn it into a negative. It's like, are you
- 23:45Speaker 1: you're a fool? You're being a fool.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Compete and charity.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Also, inspiration is power. It's fuel. If you see someone
- 23:52Speaker 1: doing well, so you see someone set and you like it,
- 23:55Speaker 1: that's fuel that makes you want to go work, makes
- 23:57Speaker 1: you want to get some shit done, makes you It
- 24:00Speaker 1: gives you energy, or it could cripple you if you're
- 24:03Speaker 1: a dummy. If you're a dummy and you get angry
- 24:06Speaker 1: and you get bitter, and then you just put all
- 24:08Speaker 1: this negativity on the person who's doing better than you,
- 24:11Speaker 1: which a lot of people do.
- 24:13Speaker 2: That's that's so weird. That's a weird dynamics in this
- 24:17Speaker 2: business when you know that it's going to be people
- 24:20Speaker 2: no matter what you're doing, it's going to be somebody
- 24:24Speaker 2: doing better than you. When I was in comedy clubs,
- 24:29Speaker 2: I remember being there and they were paper in the room. Okay,
- 24:35Speaker 2: I wasn't saying I was selling out, they was papering.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I know. Out of all the its three hundred people there,
- 24:41Speaker 2: two hundred and forty of these people came because it
- 24:44Speaker 2: was it was freeing. They sent out they email blast.
- 24:48Speaker 2: But then what I looked at was they wanted to come.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it wanted to come to, probably comedy fans, which
- 24:55Speaker 1: is why they're on the email list in the first place.
- 24:58Speaker 1: And then those people, you give them a great show,
- 25:00Speaker 1: they'll come back.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Then the next time I came, they didn't pay for
- 25:04Speaker 2: the room. They sold it. They sold the tickets.
- 25:06Speaker 1: That's that's how it used to be. Man, that was
- 25:08Speaker 1: the old days before social media. You would build a market,
- 25:11Speaker 1: so you would just show up at Philadelphia once a year,
- 25:13Speaker 1: show up, do your homework, like, make sure you got
- 25:17Speaker 1: a tight set, you've been practicing, you're ready to rock,
- 25:20Speaker 1: fuck these people up, and then leave and then they're like,
- 25:23Speaker 1: can't wait till you guys are back again. And then
- 25:25Speaker 1: next time you come back, you know, all right, I
- 25:28Speaker 1: built an audience. Now I can't disappoint these people. I
- 25:31Speaker 1: gotta get fired up. And that's what it used to be.
- 25:34Speaker 1: It used to be a totally organic thing across the
- 25:36Speaker 1: whole country.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Is it a thing? Is it a difference in your opinion,
- 25:40Speaker 2: between me bringing my audience to a venue from whatever
- 25:48Speaker 2: other thing that I do, versus people coming that don't
- 25:54Speaker 2: know anything about me, and me winning that person over versus.
- 25:59Speaker 1: The it's different. Yeah, it's a different thing. You know
- 26:02Speaker 1: people are coming to see you specifically you've already won
- 26:05Speaker 1: them over. That's a different thing. Or they want to
- 26:07Speaker 1: take a chance on you. That's a different thing because
- 26:09Speaker 1: I've heard about you. But when you know, that's a
- 26:13Speaker 1: completely different thing because that's your You have an audience.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Now you have fans. When you are just performing at
- 26:19Speaker 1: a club and it's a papered room, you have an opportunity.
- 26:23Speaker 1: You have an opportunity to turn these people into fans.
- 26:25Speaker 1: You have an opportunity to give these people a great
- 26:27Speaker 1: night and have a good time. And also you're doing
- 26:29Speaker 1: your fucking thing, which is the most important thing of all.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Everybody is results oriented. I try to be process oriented.
- 26:36Speaker 1: When I with everything I do, I'm process oriented. I
- 26:39Speaker 1: think about there's a goal that you got to reach,
- 26:42Speaker 1: but how do you get to that goal. The way
- 26:45Speaker 1: you get there is not thinking about the goal. The
- 26:47Speaker 1: way you get there is thinking about what you're doing.
- 26:50Speaker 1: What's the process. The process is writing bits, performing them,
- 26:55Speaker 1: tweaking them, getting them tight, knowing, reviewing tapes, going over
- 26:59Speaker 1: your material, going over your writing, talking with friends. And
- 27:03Speaker 1: then every day it gets a little bigger every day,
- 27:05Speaker 1: it gets a little better. Every day that knife gets
- 27:07Speaker 1: a little sharper. That's the process. That's the process that
- 27:11Speaker 1: leads you to become whoever whoever you are.
- 27:14Speaker 2: And then you add other little pieces in that process.
- 27:17Speaker 2: I remember I was talking to Bobby Lee and me
- 27:21Speaker 2: and Bobby Lee talking. I said, Bobby, you don't realize
- 27:24Speaker 2: where you met me at. And He's like, well, it's
- 27:27Speaker 2: just a good it's going to be a good story.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Is a bad stories?
- 27:32Speaker 2: I said, you met me at at the Houston Improv.
- 27:38Speaker 2: And they called me and asked me, did I want
- 27:40Speaker 2: to host a room that I already sell out? You
- 27:43Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. They asked me that I want
- 27:45Speaker 2: to host. I said cool. So I came and I
- 27:49Speaker 2: hosted and I was not trying to, but I was
- 27:54Speaker 2: destroying his feature. I'm just hosting.
- 27:57Speaker 1: We should not be hosting, and especially at the Houston Improv.
- 28:01Speaker 2: But my thing was this was years this is years ago.
- 28:04Speaker 2: But I say, Bobby, you didn't understand when the when
- 28:07Speaker 2: I was hosting at the Houston Improv, I was doing
- 28:11Speaker 2: something that most people didn't understand why I was even
- 28:14Speaker 2: doing it. Well, like and they would see like, why
- 28:16Speaker 2: would you be hosting? I said, because I'm not going
- 28:19Speaker 2: to be in front of Bobby Lee's audience. But it's
- 28:21Speaker 2: people that live in Houston, that his audience that I
- 28:25Speaker 2: have no idea, that have no idea who I am,
- 28:27Speaker 2: I said, Bobby. But before you, I say, I was
- 28:30Speaker 2: coming to the Houston Improv hosting for multiple people, and
- 28:35Speaker 2: I was just winning over fans that would never have
- 28:40Speaker 2: seen me. If they wasn't coming to see you, they
- 28:42Speaker 2: wouldn't be coming to my show. I said. So before
- 28:44Speaker 2: that it was you were last Bobby, it was you,
- 28:48Speaker 2: and the week prior to that, it was Monstere Brownie,
- 28:51Speaker 2: and the week prior to that was what's my girl Angela?
- 28:59Speaker 2: Johnson answered Johnson. And before that it was some random
- 29:05Speaker 2: white guy. I said, I just came and I want
- 29:10Speaker 2: to do. I'm a comic, so me hosting was no
- 29:13Speaker 2: big deal. I wasn't working, so I said, well, let
- 29:15Speaker 2: me just come hosted. That's what they want me to do.
- 29:17Speaker 2: So I gained fans from four different audiences in a month.
- 29:23Speaker 2: So when I came back, they was like, yo, I
- 29:26Speaker 2: saw you with mars Jebranni and so I came back.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I came back to see you when you when you
- 29:31Speaker 2: put your show up, I'm like cool, So my process.
- 29:34Speaker 2: That was a part of my process. It didn't matter
- 29:37Speaker 2: who I hosted for. And then I was like, okay, cool,
- 29:41Speaker 2: you know, let me let me go. Like when I
- 29:43Speaker 2: hosted for Bill Burr. Bill Burr was like, this is crazy.
- 29:49Speaker 2: We had we in Austin at the Paramount and I said,
- 29:53Speaker 2: I said, the worst thing about this was that at
- 29:56Speaker 2: the time, I was wearing all black. And I went
- 29:58Speaker 2: to the show and when I walked on stage, the
- 30:02Speaker 2: first thing I said is, Hey, I do not work here.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Don't like eight people ask me where's the bathroom. I
- 30:11Speaker 2: don't know, I don't work. But it was like I
- 30:13Speaker 2: look like an usher.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Yo.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, this sucks. But it was a cool game.
- 30:21Speaker 1: That's a smart approach. I mean, that's a great way
- 30:23Speaker 1: to build, especially if you're already headlining. Yeah. I think
- 30:27Speaker 1: I think that that thing about concentrating on the process,
- 30:30Speaker 1: people should try to apply that to everything. You know,
- 30:35Speaker 1: my friend John Dudley, who taught me archery, he's a
- 30:39Speaker 1: big believer in that being process oriented, like so you
- 30:43Speaker 1: get better at archery, and he used to compete all
- 30:45Speaker 1: over the world travel compete in archery tournaments. I think
- 30:48Speaker 1: that's the I think that applies to everything. I think
- 30:50Speaker 1: that applies to music. I think that applies to everything.
- 30:53Speaker 1: The more I think it's one of the things that
- 30:55Speaker 1: trips people up about social media a lot of these
- 30:57Speaker 1: young guys, in particular young people killer is that they
- 31:01Speaker 1: are thinking about other people, and they are comparing themselves
- 31:04Speaker 1: to other people, and they are looking at those numbers,
- 31:06Speaker 1: and you're you're looking you're spending all of your energy.
- 31:10Speaker 1: If you haven't allotted one hundred units of energy in
- 31:12Speaker 1: a day, you're spending a disproportionate amount on things that
- 31:17Speaker 1: don't empower you and actually kind of fuck your head up,
- 31:20Speaker 1: not good for you at all. Instead of saying, Wow,
- 31:24Speaker 1: I am chasing the fucking dream, right, I am out
- 31:27Speaker 1: here being a professional comedian, and I have a real
- 31:31Speaker 1: chance to develop a real following if I put my
- 31:34Speaker 1: time in, I put my effort, I really care and
- 31:36Speaker 1: I really work hard. I could sell out a theater
- 31:38Speaker 1: one day. That's possible. Like that's a goal. It should
- 31:42Speaker 1: be a goal, just like getting your PhD in chemistry
- 31:45Speaker 1: or whatever the fuck it is. Your goal is. But
- 31:48Speaker 1: the process is what's important. The process is like appreciating
- 31:51Speaker 1: what you're doing, why you're doing it and just bearing
- 31:55Speaker 1: down and doing your best. That's it.
- 31:57Speaker 2: That's it.
- 31:58Speaker 1: And in other people you look at them as inspiration,
- 32:01Speaker 1: other people that are kicking ass. You know, don't go,
- 32:03Speaker 1: don't become a hater. That shit is so bad for you.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I know so many dudes who have like hater tendencies
- 32:10Speaker 1: and they never excel. Never. It's the the counter thinking
- 32:16Speaker 1: of an excellent person is a hater. Someone is always
- 32:19Speaker 1: trying to diminish people and downplay people and look at
- 32:22Speaker 1: someone in the least charitable way and the worst possible way,
- 32:25Speaker 1: just somehow another trying to make themselves feel better. But
- 32:28Speaker 1: it doesn't work. It does the opposite of work. It
- 32:31Speaker 1: robs you. It robs you of your self esteem, it
- 32:34Speaker 1: robs you of your self respect. You spend so much
- 32:36Speaker 1: time thinking about this other dude, like why.
- 32:39Speaker 2: It's a lot of it's a lot of energy. And
- 32:41Speaker 2: my dad, it's one this is one story that I
- 32:43Speaker 2: did not put in the special that I should have.
- 32:47Speaker 2: And my dad had all these these thoughts and he
- 32:51Speaker 2: was I lively say he was a crazy man. But
- 32:53Speaker 2: when you think about the things that he would say
- 32:56Speaker 2: made sense, my dad, and why would you be telling
- 32:59Speaker 2: me this at the age each that, but he just
- 33:01Speaker 2: gave them. I think I was like eleven, and my
- 33:04Speaker 2: dad out of nowhere and say, you know something, people
- 33:07Speaker 2: spend spend the same time and money on being fake
- 33:11Speaker 2: when they can put put that same time and money
- 33:14Speaker 2: into being real. Yeah, And I'm like, I didn't know,
- 33:18Speaker 2: I understand what that meant. But as I got older,
- 33:23Speaker 2: if you spend any money or time faking something, you
- 33:29Speaker 2: could probably spend that money and time being real about something.
- 33:34Speaker 2: You know, why go buy a fake necklace to attack
- 33:40Speaker 2: like you rich when you can go buy a real necklace.
- 33:44Speaker 2: If I'm saying at some point what I'm saying, and
- 33:47Speaker 2: you know, be actually be rich, you know, if that's
- 33:50Speaker 2: what if you get compared it to necklaces. But I
- 33:53Speaker 2: just didn't understand it at the time. But then as
- 33:56Speaker 2: I got older, I understood, like, why put this Why
- 33:58Speaker 2: put this time in and to pretending when you can
- 34:03Speaker 2: put that same energy and then become real at what
- 34:06Speaker 2: you do. That makes no sense.
- 34:08Speaker 1: My uncle Vinny, when I was six or seven years old,
- 34:13Speaker 1: I was staying at it at his house with my cousins,
- 34:16Speaker 1: and uh, we were we were supposed to brush our
- 34:19Speaker 1: teeth and I didn't like following rules period, and so
- 34:22Speaker 1: I wouldn't brush my teeth. Instead, I would take toothpaste
- 34:25Speaker 1: and mushing around on my teeth and so that when
- 34:28Speaker 1: they smelled my breath, they would smell toothpaste. And my
- 34:30Speaker 1: uncle explained to me, he goes, he goes, Uh, I
- 34:34Speaker 1: understand why you're doing it, he goes, But the amount
- 34:37Speaker 1: of time that you're spending pretending to brush your teeth,
- 34:40Speaker 1: you could have just brushed your teeth. And I thought
- 34:42Speaker 1: about that when I was six. I was like, damn.
- 34:45Speaker 1: I was just a little kid. But I was like, Hi,
- 34:47Speaker 1: he's right, Why am I faking brushing it? My uncle
- 34:56Speaker 1: Vinie was like super patient, super calm at all my
- 35:00Speaker 1: family members. He was the strangest out of all these wild,
- 35:03Speaker 1: crazy Italian people like he was. He was an artist,
- 35:08Speaker 1: and he was like very soft spoken and never got
- 35:11Speaker 1: angry about anything. I'd always speak really rationally. I was like, God,
- 35:15Speaker 1: he's so smart, it's so peaceful. He just but the
- 35:19Speaker 1: way he laid it out when he didn't say, hey,
- 35:20Speaker 1: I know you're not brushing your teeth. You a little
- 35:22Speaker 1: fuck's what's that? It was the time you're spending pretending
- 35:26Speaker 1: to brush your teeth. You could have just brushed your teeth,
- 35:29Speaker 1: but it was like sometimes adults will say something to
- 35:31Speaker 1: you like that when you're six, and it just gets
- 35:34Speaker 1: in your head. You're like, whoa, Okay, that just saved
- 35:38Speaker 1: me a whole lot of time I brush them. Just
- 35:42Speaker 1: brush your fucking teeth. Stop pretending. Stop faking. It doesn't
- 35:47Speaker 1: help anything. It does the opposite.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Does the opposite. And you know, people, the truth sometimes
- 35:55Speaker 2: is hurtful to people.
- 35:58Speaker 1: The truth doesn't feel good, you know, to a lot
- 36:01Speaker 1: of people unfortunately. But you know, you have to look
- 36:05Speaker 1: at it, you have to have perspective.
- 36:08Speaker 2: But that's the ultimate hate right there. That's the ultimate hate,
- 36:13Speaker 2: is for me to give you a falsehood instead of
- 36:15Speaker 2: take you the truth. Right that's the ultimate It's the
- 36:18Speaker 2: ultimate hate.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Especially if like you're making up a background for yourself,
- 36:23Speaker 1: you're making up a story about your life that's not true.
- 36:26Speaker 1: You're pretending you're somewhere in life that you're not.
- 36:30Speaker 2: You know, yo, man, just do the thing, Just do
- 36:33Speaker 2: the thing.
- 36:34Speaker 1: But it's hard for people. It's hard for people. And
- 36:37Speaker 1: then there's a lot of people that think you just
- 36:38Speaker 1: fake it until you make it and then you hear
- 36:41Speaker 1: stories this guy I had five hundred dollars in my
- 36:43Speaker 1: bank account, but I told them I got this, I
- 36:46Speaker 1: got that loan. And next thing you know, my business
- 36:49Speaker 1: is making all this money, and you go, wow, he
- 36:51Speaker 1: faked it until he maked it and it worked, and
- 36:54Speaker 1: you think.
- 36:56Speaker 2: So few and forward. Then they never tell you that
- 36:59Speaker 2: got go was the jail later.
- 37:00Speaker 1: For fraud a hundred percent.
- 37:05Speaker 2: The fans busted my ales three years later and took
- 37:07Speaker 2: everything like, okay.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Exactly like when they arrested Carlsmancia recently. I feel like
- 37:13Speaker 1: all those counts of tax fraud, I was like, okay,
- 37:17Speaker 1: I don't want that to happen to him, but there
- 37:22Speaker 1: it is, right, I mean, that's what.
- 37:26Speaker 2: I'm not laughing at, Calm. I'm just laughing the fact
- 37:29Speaker 2: that like, yeah, yeah, when they busted.
- 37:33Speaker 1: I mean I didn't, I wasn't. Didn't bring me any
- 37:35Speaker 1: joy to see that. I don't like anybody getting arrested
- 37:37Speaker 1: for taxes. I think. I think taxes until they have
- 37:42Speaker 1: an accurate account of where the fucking money goes and
- 37:47Speaker 1: until you completely eliminate all fraud and waste, What the
- 37:53Speaker 1: fuck are you doing locking people up for not paying taxes,
- 37:57Speaker 1: like you guys should get locked up for not doing
- 38:00Speaker 1: a good job with our money.
- 38:03Speaker 2: So what did you think about all the new purchases
- 38:06Speaker 2: in redoing the White House and all this tax dollars?
- 38:10Speaker 1: Did they do it with tax dollars? How much money
- 38:12Speaker 1: do they spend tax dollars to do the Ballroom's find out?
- 38:16Speaker 2: What's that?
- 38:17Speaker 1: They need a ballroom though? That's how that guy snuck
- 38:20Speaker 1: in with a gun because they tried to do that
- 38:21Speaker 1: White House correspondence dinner in a hotel. That dude who
- 38:25Speaker 1: got arrested a few months back.
- 38:27Speaker 2: What's this? This? This resolution? The pool something full of
- 38:32Speaker 2: algae right now that we spent on the Yeah.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I don't know about that. That's something about making the
- 38:36Speaker 1: pool look nice. But whatever that is, reflecting pool.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Yeah, to reflect.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Reports indicate the new White House East Wing ballroom is
- 38:44Speaker 1: projected to cost about six hundred million, with roughly half
- 38:47Speaker 1: just over three hundred million, coming from taxpayer funded government accounts,
- 38:51Speaker 1: despite earlier promises that it would be taxpayer free. Three
- 38:56Speaker 1: hundred million sounds like a lot until you find out
- 38:58Speaker 1: how much money they spend on other things. When you
- 39:01Speaker 1: find out how much, just how much fraud is in NGOs,
- 39:06Speaker 1: how much fraud is in nonprofits, how much fraud is
- 39:09Speaker 1: in insider trading and propping up companies so that they
- 39:14Speaker 1: can get better deals. Well, the whole thing is fraud.
- 39:18Speaker 2: The thing is if you spending I understand how much
- 39:23Speaker 2: money goes and other things, but if you spending any
- 39:26Speaker 2: money that that that's my money that I don't know
- 39:30Speaker 2: that I need it or that's not really the aim.
- 39:34Speaker 1: The goal should be able to vote on it.
- 39:35Speaker 2: You should be able to vote on where all your
- 39:38Speaker 2: tax money goes. How much money is, how much tax
- 39:40Speaker 2: money is being spilled to own getting smart people in places,
- 39:43Speaker 2: getting smart, making smart children.
- 39:45Speaker 1: That's the big one.
- 39:47Speaker 2: That's the that's the thing.
- 39:48Speaker 1: The big one is if you look at our country
- 39:52Speaker 1: as a community, and that's what we're supposed to be doing.
- 39:54Speaker 1: We're supposed to be the United States of America, all
- 39:56Speaker 1: that bull should decide. That was the one good thing
- 39:58Speaker 1: that happened about nine to eleven. When nine to eleven happened,
- 40:01Speaker 1: after that, we were all united. It was crazy. It
- 40:04Speaker 1: was crazy. We realized, like we are actually on a team.
- 40:07Speaker 1: So if we're on a team, why do we have
- 40:10Speaker 1: these deeply impoverished neighborhoods for decades and decades that are
- 40:14Speaker 1: riddled with crime and drug abuse? Why is it impossible
- 40:17Speaker 1: to fix That's crazy, that's not true. It's just no
- 40:20Speaker 1: one's tried to fix it. No one's done any effort
- 40:23Speaker 1: to fix it. And if you did fix it, you
- 40:26Speaker 1: want to make America great, here's the best way. Less losers.
- 40:30Speaker 1: And how do you get less losers? More opportunities for people,
- 40:33Speaker 1: more opportunities, more support, more education, more everything that you
- 40:38Speaker 1: need if it was your neighborhood. And if we did that,
- 40:42Speaker 1: we'd have to switch the way our system runs. But
- 40:45Speaker 1: that could be done. Man, they don't have to have losers,
- 40:48Speaker 1: not that many.
- 40:49Speaker 2: That's the thing about make America great? Right, If you're
- 40:54Speaker 2: trying to make anything great, don't you need intelligent people
- 40:56Speaker 2: to do that?
- 40:58Speaker 1: Of course? Number one thing, so when we.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Have all these divisive people that that's on a lower vibration,
- 41:08Speaker 2: how is that making the country the country great? If
- 41:13Speaker 2: we're putting people in position that don't have the experience
- 41:19Speaker 2: or the education in those things, and then we're just
- 41:22Speaker 2: saying a bunch of divisive things, you know, you know
- 41:26Speaker 2: it's it was if I'm watching the extravaganza that happened
- 41:32Speaker 2: at the White House? What was the thing? Michelle Obama
- 41:36Speaker 2: is a man? Like, how did that help? How did
- 41:39Speaker 2: that help?
- 41:39Speaker 1: That guy says that every time.
- 41:41Speaker 2: He but what is the what is the thing? First
- 41:44Speaker 2: of all, it's it's really divisive because you know that
- 41:49Speaker 2: a large portion of the country's gonna take this, that's
- 41:52Speaker 2: gonna have a problem with this. You know, clearly she's
- 41:54Speaker 2: not a man. You know what I'm saying, But it
- 41:57Speaker 2: makes no sense. Like two, I've never seen this many
- 42:01Speaker 2: people say so many damaging things about a past president
- 42:05Speaker 2: and it's like he's still on the forefront and it's
- 42:09Speaker 2: not like we have a president that's doing the greatest
- 42:12Speaker 2: job for this this country. You know, which is which
- 42:14Speaker 2: is weird or weird thing to me? And people going
- 42:17Speaker 2: to ask, is that was the belief? That's the that's
- 42:21Speaker 2: the real belief of people, that's the real thing.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Well, listen, there's some crazy people that believe the world
- 42:26Speaker 1: is flat. There's a lot of dumb beliefs. There's probably
- 42:28Speaker 1: people that do believe. Michelle Obama's a man. What that
- 42:31Speaker 1: guy does, he's like a pro wrestler, Like he's got
- 42:34Speaker 1: a character called the incredible hulk. It's very corny in
- 42:38Speaker 1: a lot of ways. Sometimes it's you know, cringey. But
- 42:42Speaker 1: the point is he gets a lot of attention, a
- 42:45Speaker 1: lot of attention because of all this. That's what he's doing.
- 42:48Speaker 1: So what he's trying to do is maximize the amount
- 42:51Speaker 1: of attention that he can get for a very short
- 42:53Speaker 1: window of career. This is not how he really feels,
- 42:56Speaker 1: how he really thinks when you talk to him in
- 42:57Speaker 1: real life. Very reasonable. This is an act that he does,
- 43:01Speaker 1: like a pro wrestling act. But what he can do
- 43:04Speaker 1: is fight. He's really good, and that's what's so confusing
- 43:07Speaker 1: about it all. So you got this guy who's created
- 43:10Speaker 1: like this fake persona where he puts on an American
- 43:12Speaker 1: flag bandan that comes out the Haul Cogan music, does
- 43:15Speaker 1: all his interviews with sunglasses on, has a bunch of
- 43:17Speaker 1: crazy silly rhymes and says ridiculous shit, just trying to
- 43:21Speaker 1: get attention, the most amount of attention. So it is
- 43:24Speaker 1: very divisive, don't get me wrong, but that's by design.
- 43:27Speaker 2: So he's Haul Hogan and Randy Savage.
- 43:31Speaker 1: The same actual fighter, a really fucking good one man.
- 43:34Speaker 1: He just knocked out Derek Lewis at the White House.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Derek Lewis has the most knockouts in all history of.
- 43:38Speaker 2: The don't don't, don't do that, don't do that, don't
- 43:41Speaker 2: do what this this, don't don't don't say that. It's
- 43:44Speaker 2: so excited because Derek Lewis go to the same gym
- 43:47Speaker 2: on Main Street boxing Jimmy Houston, I'm very close.
- 43:50Speaker 1: To that, dude. I love Derek.
- 43:51Speaker 2: I don't like the fact that Derek Lewis lost that fight.
- 43:54Speaker 1: I think is Derek Derek of ten years ago would
- 43:58Speaker 1: have been a real fucking problem for dude, because Derek
- 44:01Speaker 1: of ten years ago, you couldn't hold him down. He
- 44:02Speaker 1: would just get up. There's a whole compilation of people
- 44:06Speaker 1: trying to hold Derek Lewis down. He just gets a
- 44:08Speaker 1: hand on you and just whoop his grip. They did
- 44:12Speaker 1: that UFC grip thing where they test the grip. Everybody's
- 44:15Speaker 1: like one forty. The strong ones are like one sixty.
- 44:18Speaker 1: One night Derek just squeezed it casual to eighteen and
- 44:22Speaker 1: they were like, what the fuck?
- 44:24Speaker 2: So you see how problematic this was for me. You
- 44:27Speaker 2: already beat my friend Dan. You turn around and say
- 44:30Speaker 2: he beat a forty year old Derek A forty old
- 44:32Speaker 2: Derek Lewis dan't turn around and say Michelle Obama's man.
- 44:35Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, you know what you're saying. I'm pissed.
- 44:38Speaker 1: You're right, Listen, you're right, But I'm telling you, if
- 44:42Speaker 1: you met that dude in real life, you would get it.
- 44:45Speaker 1: He's just a dude. He's just a guy who is
- 44:47Speaker 1: a competitive wrestler, played in the NFL, and he's like,
- 44:51Speaker 1: I got to do something to figure out how to
- 44:54Speaker 1: get people to pay attention to me, because it can't
- 44:56Speaker 1: just be fighting. It's not enough. If you look at
- 44:58Speaker 1: Connor McGregor, you at Sugarshan O'Malley, you look at these
- 45:02Speaker 1: guys that have these flamboyant personalities, these big personalities, they
- 45:06Speaker 1: get Casius Clay's the original example. They get an immense
- 45:09Speaker 1: amount of attention and that translates into much more money
- 45:13Speaker 1: and much more opportunities. There's no fucking way that guy
- 45:16Speaker 1: would have gotten that fight at the White House if
- 45:19Speaker 1: he couldn't fight, because the fight that he had before that,
- 45:22Speaker 1: he fought Curtis Blaze, who was a top ten UFC
- 45:25Speaker 1: heavyweight huge wrestler, and they went to war. Dude, I
- 45:28Speaker 1: mean he put it on him for three fucking rounds,
- 45:30Speaker 1: Like Curtis just has an insane heart and survived it.
- 45:34Speaker 1: But that guy can fucking fight. But just that alone's
- 45:37Speaker 1: not enough. But you got to get attention. I don't
- 45:40Speaker 1: agree with it. I don't. I wouldn't do it. It's
- 45:42Speaker 1: not my thing. I don't like it, right, but I
- 45:45Speaker 1: get it and it's smart.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Well, Muhammad Ali though he was very respectful in his
- 45:50Speaker 2: in his in his act, you know, to get attention,
- 45:53Speaker 2: you know.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Just how he wasn't. I mean he wasn't with other people.
- 45:57Speaker 1: But he would show up at fucking Sonny Liston's house
- 46:00Speaker 1: and scream about him on his fucking front lawn at
- 46:03Speaker 1: four in the morning. He did wild, crazy shit.
- 46:06Speaker 2: He he did it.
- 46:08Speaker 1: He did a lot of why. He was just all
- 46:10Speaker 1: about getting your heart rate up, getting your emotions in there.
- 46:13Speaker 1: He was so fucking smart. He knew before everybody that
- 46:17Speaker 1: you could just get somebody into a frenzy and they
- 46:19Speaker 1: wouldn't be able to sleep. Their whole life revolved around
- 46:23Speaker 1: fighting you. And I can't let this guy beat me
- 46:25Speaker 1: in the fear of losing. He's gonna keep you weak,
- 46:28Speaker 1: it's gonna keep you You're not gonna be able to
- 46:30Speaker 1: eat as much food. You're gonna feel nervous.
- 46:32Speaker 2: But you see what happened when somebody called him.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh yeah, he was not what fighter was
- 46:40Speaker 1: that he kept punishing.
- 46:43Speaker 2: But that that didn't work out for him. He beat the.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Heat him and he carried him. He carried him. He's
- 46:49Speaker 1: beating his ass, dude. He was a special, special guy.
- 46:54Speaker 1: It's you know, I'm not comparing him in terms of
- 46:56Speaker 1: his cultural significance to Josh Hokit because you know he was. Uh,
- 47:01Speaker 1: my parents, my mother and my stepfather were hippies. They
- 47:03Speaker 1: never watched fighting. But when he had a rematch with
- 47:07Speaker 1: Leon Spinks, that's how much of a cultural figure he was.
- 47:10Speaker 1: They wanted him to beat Leon Spinks. My god, he's
- 47:13Speaker 1: gonna win. He's got to win. Hippies sitting in front
- 47:16Speaker 1: of the fucking TV in like nineteen seventy whatever.
- 47:18Speaker 2: It was, how crazy they have Italian hippies? Because I
- 47:25Speaker 2: heard it was like my family, like I thought they
- 47:26Speaker 2: was a Italian.
- 47:27Speaker 1: It was, well, they were hippies, but you know, my
- 47:31Speaker 1: grandmother went to jail for running numbers for the mob.
- 47:35Speaker 1: So it's like there was a lot of okay, there
- 47:38Speaker 1: was a lot of a lot of Yeah, Grandma went
- 47:43Speaker 1: away for a little bit. She wouldn't rat him out,
- 47:47Speaker 1: so she did some time.
- 47:49Speaker 2: I was at a I was at a show one
- 47:50Speaker 2: time and I said, well, all the Africans and in
- 47:56Speaker 2: in here and this Italian dude he's from Sicily. He
- 48:01Speaker 2: raised his hand and I said, and the people like,
- 48:06Speaker 2: why is he raising him? Like he knows, he knows.
- 48:15Speaker 1: It's really good reason why Sicilians have darker hair, curly hair,
- 48:19Speaker 1: darker skin.
- 48:20Speaker 2: He was like yeah, and that's all I said was
- 48:23Speaker 2: he knows, and and people who got it it was
- 48:26Speaker 2: like right. And at that point it's like when people
- 48:30Speaker 2: don't know that that you have some sort of level
- 48:33Speaker 2: of intelligence information was like whoa, Okay, it's a it's
- 48:40Speaker 2: a big but that's that's funny though Italian. But my
- 48:44Speaker 2: mother also.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there's a lot of hip piece back then, man.
- 48:47Speaker 1: And I think the original idea behind it was great.
- 48:51Speaker 1: And I was just watching this thing today about the
- 48:53Speaker 1: c I A and LSD and what they did. It
- 48:55Speaker 1: was really funny.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Man.
- 48:56Speaker 1: It was a yeah, animal, isn't it dope? See if
- 49:01Speaker 1: you can find it, put it up because it's kind
- 49:02Speaker 1: of cool.
- 49:03Speaker 3: I'm conveniently an mk ultrae hearing going on right now in.
- 49:05Speaker 1: The Oh, how convenient Colson bro that they I got
- 49:10Speaker 1: it right here, Jamie, I'll sent it to you. They
- 49:12Speaker 1: one percent are still doing that. No if answer, butts
- 49:16Speaker 1: if you think they did that in the sixties and
- 49:18Speaker 1: then one hundred percent did if they're doing mind control
- 49:21Speaker 1: experiments on people, and they're influencing people's opinions, and half
- 49:25Speaker 1: of the reason why people were at odds with each
- 49:27Speaker 1: other all day long on it online is probably government intervention.
- 49:31Speaker 1: At one point, there's some government's intervention. This is just
- 49:34Speaker 1: not ours, Russia and China and.
- 49:37Speaker 6: This is wow that Yeah, he created the hippie movement,
- 49:40Speaker 6: and your mom's favorite band probably helped them. In the
- 49:43Speaker 6: nineteen fifties, the CIA bought up the world supply of LSD.
- 49:47Speaker 6: They brought it to the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, who
- 49:49Speaker 6: reverse engineered it, giving them an unlimited supply and a
- 49:53Speaker 6: complete monopoly. Then the testing started. One early volunteer for
- 49:57Speaker 6: these tests was Ken Kesey. Kesey wrote a book inspired
- 50:00Speaker 6: by this experience, which became a bestseller. Then Kesey went
- 50:03Speaker 6: on to host events which he called acid tests, and
- 50:06Speaker 6: he wasn't charging anyone. He just wanted people to show
- 50:09Speaker 6: up and do acid. For these events, he hired an
- 50:12Speaker 6: unknown house band called The Grateful Dead. These events became
- 50:15Speaker 6: wildly popular, and with them rose the popularity of the band.
- 50:19Speaker 6: So the Grateful Dead begins touring and Kesey follows them
- 50:21Speaker 6: around in a bus from show to show, and everywhere
- 50:24Speaker 6: he went he brought a vat full of kool A
- 50:26Speaker 6: laced with LSD. This guy had a seemingly endless supply,
- 50:29Speaker 6: exporting the hippie culture all around the US. Meanwhile, the
- 50:32Speaker 6: CIA is flooding college campuses with LSD under the guise
- 50:36Speaker 6: of research, and the Grateful Dead was just one of
- 50:38Speaker 6: many bands in this movement. At the same time, in
- 50:41Speaker 6: Laurel Canyon came a wave of musicians with something in common.
- 50:44Speaker 6: They were all children of high ranking military officials. The
- 50:47Speaker 6: biggest names in music. Jim Morrison of The Doors was
- 50:50Speaker 6: the son of an admiral. Frank Zappa's father was a
- 50:52Speaker 6: chemical warfare specialist. Even Crosby, Stills and Nash, Yeah, all
- 50:57Speaker 6: three of them, and all of these bands as well.
- 50:59Speaker 6: The theory is the CIA orchestrated the hippie movement to
- 51:02Speaker 6: steer a very real anti war movement into something a
- 51:05Speaker 6: little easier to combat, descent without teeth.
- 51:08Speaker 1: The hippie slogan was literally.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Turn on, tune in, and rap out.
- 51:15Speaker 6: In other words, do acid and remove yourself from society,
- 51:18Speaker 6: and a lot of them did drop out of society
- 51:20Speaker 6: to go live in communes in the woods. This intersection
- 51:23Speaker 6: between hippie culture and the CIA could all be a great,
- 51:26Speaker 6: big coincidence. Maybe military brats naturally want to rebel, and
- 51:31Speaker 6: maybe the CIA was giving away acid because they're chill
- 51:33Speaker 6: like that. Maybe the CIA created the hippie movement and
- 51:37Speaker 6: your mom's favorite band probably helped them.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 51:43Speaker 1: That's wild. They also had a big influence on gangster rap,
- 51:47Speaker 1: big influence on promoting gangster for sure. One hundred. Yeah,
- 51:54Speaker 1: they wanted to fill prisons.
- 51:55Speaker 2: You want to push that over anything else, you know,
- 51:58Speaker 2: because we can look at how rap music changed and
- 52:01Speaker 2: get it changed, you know, nineteen ninety two. Yeah, after
- 52:05Speaker 2: nineteen ninety two, they was like no more positive rap.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Well, it was whenever Straight out of Compton came out.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Because I was in Boston at the time, I would
- 52:14Speaker 1: remember to the day it happened.
- 52:16Speaker 2: But Straight Out of Compton wasn't a drug field induced out.
- 52:22Speaker 2: It was if you look at some of the sult
- 52:24Speaker 2: you look at a lot of the songs that was
- 52:25Speaker 2: on an album, it was rebellious songs against the system, you.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Know, fuck the police.
- 52:32Speaker 2: And then nineteen ninety two man when they decided, Yo,
- 52:37Speaker 2: we don't want no more day La Soul, we don't
- 52:40Speaker 2: no more trial call quests. We don't want no you
- 52:42Speaker 2: get them leather medallions off your It's like, yo, we
- 52:48Speaker 2: need we need like Yo, they like self Destruction and
- 52:54Speaker 2: West Coast West Coast All Stars. They was like what
- 52:58Speaker 2: they coming together? Oh no, you know, we need this
- 53:02Speaker 2: to be divisive. We need them to separate. And that's
- 53:05Speaker 2: crazy that the biggest times that I've experienced this country
- 53:10Speaker 2: being together was the Olympics when the Dream Team came
- 53:17Speaker 2: nine eleven and COVID. That's the biggest time that we
- 53:22Speaker 2: the three biggest times I've ever seen us together.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Yeah, because we need something. We need something that's real.
- 53:30Speaker 1: We need some sort of an event that makes us
- 53:32Speaker 1: realize first of all the fragility of life. That's important,
- 53:36Speaker 1: and we have to realize that we're all supposed to
- 53:38Speaker 1: be a part of a team, and.
- 53:43Speaker 2: You can't play on a team if your teammates don't
- 53:46Speaker 2: think that you that you're valuable.
- 53:47Speaker 1: Not only that you can't play on a team, if
- 53:49Speaker 1: your teammates are poisoning you, if your teammates are allowing
- 53:52Speaker 1: you to eat rotten food so that you can't play,
- 53:55Speaker 1: and maybe giving you inferior gear on purpose, and maybe
- 53:59Speaker 1: keeping you in a place where you can't get sleep
- 54:02Speaker 1: so that you're not gonna Evolve's like, you're always gonna
- 54:06Speaker 1: be tired, You're gonna be fatigued, so you're never gonna
- 54:08Speaker 1: get better at whatever the fuck it is you're doing.
- 54:10Speaker 1: You're never gonna advance in life. You're gonna be tired,
- 54:13Speaker 1: you're gonna be on drugs, You're gonna be poor. This
- 54:16Speaker 1: episode is brought to you by Armor. Every week there's
- 54:18Speaker 1: some new wellness hack that people swear by, and after
- 54:21Speaker 1: a while you start thinking, why do we think we
- 54:24Speaker 1: can just outsmart our bodies. That's why armor Colostrum caught
- 54:29Speaker 1: my attention. It's something the body already recognizes and has
- 54:33Speaker 1: hundreds of these specialized nutrients for gut stuff, immunity, metabolism,
- 54:38Speaker 1: et cetera. I first noticed it working around training, especially
- 54:42Speaker 1: workout recovery. Most stuff falls off, but I am still
- 54:45Speaker 1: taking this. If you want to try, Armor is offering
- 54:48Speaker 1: my listeners thirty percent off plus two free gifts. Go
- 54:51Speaker 1: to armor dot com slash Rogan.
- 54:54Speaker 2: This is how I see that's not a good team.
- 54:57Speaker 2: This is how I see with parenting. It's hard to
- 55:00Speaker 2: parent it if your number one goal is survival, right,
- 55:05Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, It's hard to parent. You
- 55:07Speaker 2: know you you got a parent from a comfortable space.
- 55:11Speaker 2: You can't parent from nervous Chickens really don't lay eggs.
- 55:16Speaker 2: So the thing is you if like the way I
- 55:21Speaker 2: parent now versus how my mom. My mom was strictly survival.
- 55:25Speaker 2: So my thing is survival first, you know what I'm saying.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Then the rest of it. You know, I don't remember
- 55:32Speaker 2: going to on vacation with my parents, you know, like
- 55:39Speaker 2: vacation what your mind working through jobs and going to school,
- 55:45Speaker 2: trying to betterle She just taking care of you. So
- 55:48Speaker 2: I'm not my kids go on vacation. You know, it's different.
- 55:53Speaker 2: You know, So I see things from both sides all
- 55:59Speaker 2: the time because I'm in, which makes me grateful. I'm
- 56:02Speaker 2: grateful that I can do the things I can do
- 56:04Speaker 2: with my family, know what I'm saying versus parenting from
- 56:08Speaker 2: a place of frustration, you know, But I understand this,
- 56:14Speaker 2: this this frustration thing. You know, I'm trying to take
- 56:17Speaker 2: care of you and you know, and then sometimes I
- 56:20Speaker 2: look at my kids, like, you know something, you have
- 56:22Speaker 2: it really easy because if I wouldn't have washed them dishes,
- 56:25Speaker 2: my mom would have destroyed me because her mind said this, Hey,
- 56:32Speaker 2: I'm trying to take care of y'all. Can y'all got
- 56:33Speaker 2: the help in this? You know? With me, it was
- 56:35Speaker 2: like we have a housekeeper. I'm saying, the housekeeper coming
- 56:41Speaker 2: in four days out the week, you know, And now
- 56:43Speaker 2: I'm like, so you just gonna throw that stuff on
- 56:46Speaker 2: the floor, and you're making it hard for the housekeeper.
- 56:49Speaker 2: You know. The reason why she's here four days a
- 56:51Speaker 2: week is so to make your life easier. But you
- 56:54Speaker 2: you're adding on to by being lazy, by being lazy,
- 56:58Speaker 2: like like, I don't this.
- 57:00Speaker 1: Balance in that right? You want to protect your children,
- 57:03Speaker 1: but you don't want them to develop soft. You want
- 57:08Speaker 1: them to be able to take care of their own problems,
- 57:11Speaker 1: and you want them to be able to understand the
- 57:13Speaker 1: consequences of their actions. So this is like fine line
- 57:17Speaker 1: of like encouragement and punishment and like explaining to them
- 57:25Speaker 1: how your life was different and you have to appreciate
- 57:28Speaker 1: this life. This is very unusual. You're super fortunate. But
- 57:31Speaker 1: I think ultimately what they learn from is how you behave.
- 57:35Speaker 1: That's a giant part of being a parent that people
- 57:38Speaker 1: I don't think are totally aware of until you start
- 57:41Speaker 1: doing it, that they understand. Whatever the fuck you say
- 57:44Speaker 1: is one thing that's great what you do. What you
- 57:46Speaker 1: do is what they really say. And if you're a
- 57:48Speaker 1: lazy fucker who's always making excuses, your kids are gonna
- 57:51Speaker 1: not have respect for you. They're gonna know, like real
- 57:54Speaker 1: early on, you're kind of full shit.
- 57:56Speaker 2: This is the craziest thing, though. You know how hard
- 57:58Speaker 2: it is to put some of my own punishment and then say, hey, pack,
- 58:02Speaker 2: we're going to Cobo. He's like, am my own punishment.
- 58:07Speaker 2: We're going to combo.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Get your iPad for sixteen hours.
- 58:11Speaker 2: When we get the cobo, you stay in your room
- 58:13Speaker 2: and overlooked the ocean and think about your consequences as
- 58:20Speaker 2: you order room certace.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Drinking coke and cola, eating French fries.
- 58:26Speaker 2: Lamb chops coming to the room. He's like, yo, you
- 58:28Speaker 2: won't punish me, dude, And then so I can't, So
- 58:31Speaker 2: I can't have oysters.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Like here the birds chirping.
- 58:38Speaker 2: You're looking at the waves and like it's rough and
- 58:42Speaker 2: it's beings a. It's a certain part of success that
- 58:47Speaker 2: you almost can't punish because it's like, I'm not staying
- 58:54Speaker 2: at home because you don't punishment. See my mom was
- 58:59Speaker 2: she it's just different, you know different. My mom was
- 59:02Speaker 2: going her room and turn on Nasland in a dynasty
- 59:06Speaker 2: and I'm in my room with no TV because it
- 59:08Speaker 2: was only one TV. It's a TV in every room.
- 59:11Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. I Oh, the punishment was
- 59:13Speaker 2: come in here and watch falcon Crest with me. What
- 59:18Speaker 2: I don't want to watch no falcon Crest. And then
- 59:20Speaker 2: you start watching felcon Cress and now you love it.
- 59:23Speaker 2: He was like, so when when is it coming on again?
- 59:27Speaker 2: That's why character, That's why I like Mash. You know
- 59:30Speaker 2: what I'm saying. I would be in I would be
- 59:32Speaker 2: in trouble and you're watching Mash and Bonanza and then
- 59:36Speaker 2: all of a sudden you love Mash. I cried with
- 59:39Speaker 2: Mash when I was like that.
- 59:41Speaker 1: You remember the dude who dressed up like girl in Mash,
- 59:44Speaker 1: Jamie Farr yea, he was my neighbor.
- 59:46Speaker 2: I was your neighbor.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Yeah, wow fack in California. He live right next door,
- 59:50Speaker 1: two houses down.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Wowlinger.
- 59:54Speaker 1: It used to be just me and him, and then
- 59:56Speaker 1: another guy built the house in between us. Uh, who's cool,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: very friendly guy.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Play the play. The character played a good character.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: That was a show.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Mash was a very good show, you know. And I
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: said this other day to a friend of mine. I said,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: like I listened. I used to ride and take my
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: kids to school and listen to morning shows. You know,
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: really Tom Joiner, you know, listen to Tom Joiner, And
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: this is something I could listen to with my kids.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Now there's there's no morning shows that I can listen
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: to with my children without them putting in a different
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: element that I'm I don't want my kids to be
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: a part of. You know, that's a weird thing that
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: they cursing on radio and doing all this stuff.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: They can't curse on radio, sto, yes, the change it.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: They'll drop a B word in a minute, Oh.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: A B word. Yeah. But that's it. You can't you
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: can't use you can't say no.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: But the rest of it, you know, my you know,
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: you got daughters.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: You in the crowd right right, and you're hearing some
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: ship you know.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Like.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: That's that's a weird thing. You like. So they go
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: to school and you know, at the and they say
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: you're watching the be like damn, that was the ending
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: of the show. So now you just we riding and
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: listen to Kijakole. You know what I'm saying with no talk. Oh,
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: I listened to m PR. I listened to Urban Urban Network,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: you know, for them to listen. Now they got all
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: these political questions and and you know when you're five
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: year old, like so why aren't we voting? Like, oh,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: you've been listening to Karenna. It's the whole time went
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: away to school or from school. So it's it's weird.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: How you what shows would you sit down and watch
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: with your kids?
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Now?
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: You know they have to watch the shows that I
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: grew up watching. You know, you got to go back.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: You got to watch Perry Mason and then Family Matters
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: and you know the Cosby Show, you know, Different World.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: We had to go back and watch good times, you know,
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: can't watch the current things, you know, so you know,
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: even with comedy, I took I took Hassan to a
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: comedy show with me to see some friends, and he
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: was fourteen at the time, and we left because it
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: was no, it was nothing. The things that were being said.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: It kind of made me go back to when Cosby
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: did the story about his son going to see Eddie
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Murphy and his daddy said these things. And I was
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: sitting there, like, after the first two minutes, I'm like, yo,
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: we gotta get out of here, young and I'm like, yo.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: Man, But I mean the guy who's doing comedy's doing
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: comedy for adults that are drinking and no.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Wed We was at an event where it was all
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: these bodybuilders. The gym next Level had did a show
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: for all the the the people they work out there
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: and the trainers, and I'm thinking, okay, this is at
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: a ballroom, you know, it's probably gonna be pretty cool.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: And I stopped in, you know, we set in the
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: back and then it went left and I was like, hey, man,
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: let's get out of here. And he's seen me, and
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: so he's like, nah, this ain't this ain't the same
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, I'm not I'm not going for a
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: certain type of laugh I'm not doing shock value, you know.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: So he's watched almost all the specials, you know, so
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: it's not the it's not the same for for him,
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: you know. And he looked he knows a lot of comics,
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: so it's it's not this wasn't conducive. I was like,
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: how song we out out of here? It's like, but
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: it's some comments. You can go and you can watch
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: their whole show, Like Marcus D. Wiley, he can get
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: an understanding of least marriage, you know, how marriage go
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: to give you some fuel. But I think the landscape
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: of comedy is different for different people. Not knocking the
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: people who do shock value or a lot of sexual
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: content that that's there. That's their stick, and they probably
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: young and at some point they'll grow. Hopefully they'll grow,
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: and it'll be more things in life to talk about.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: People like, well, how do you have as many specials?
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: Because I have a life, you know, I had a
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: life before that I talked about and then I have
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: a life, a current life that you know, I'm still
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: experiencing things. So I'm going to talk about things that
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: that's that's a little different because I'm I'm living and
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: I'm not stuck in Sex is not the number one thing.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: I remember when I figured that I was. Sex wasn't
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: that big. When I went to you know, they had
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: to think Netflix and chill and I actually wanted to
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: watch the movie Get You on my Leg. I'm trying
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: to watch this movie. So it's the thing about the
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: development in this game and how you grow and what
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: you think about.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: Well, I think comedy is just one of the problems
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: with the label is that there's no genres. It's not
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: like blues comedy, rock and roll comedy, hip hop comedy,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: ed M comedy. It's just comedy. You don't know what
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: it is. It's just different people's perspective on things. And
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: there's different kinds of comedy that people like. You know,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: some people are Giant Richard Pryor fans, some people are
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Sam Kinnison fans, some people are Jerry Seinfeld fans, and
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: some people love Bonnie Raid and some people love you
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: know whatever, James Brown fill in the blank. There's a
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: lot of different styles of music, and there's a lot
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: of different styles of comedy. And all that I care
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: is that you enjoy what you're doing, and you're doing
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: it because you enjoy it. And if you're doing that,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck. I don't give a fuck
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: what you're doing. I don't care if you have props.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I don't care if you write signs and hold them
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: up for the crowd. I don't give a shit what
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: you're doing. I don't care if you do impressions. I
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: don't give a fuck what you're doing.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: That that was a huge So when talk about the
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: scope of comedy, you know, I'm I can start with
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Carol Binette and I watched that, But the guy who
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: I watched on HBO a lot, I knew I wasn't
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: gonna do that type of stand up. That was just
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: a whole different thing. But Gallagher was crazy to me, crazy,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: That was crazy. Somebody more plastic in garbage bags around
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: the neck front, what six rows, just going.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Splattered with watermelons and pineapples and coconuts and whatever the fuck?
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: He's cabbage ridiculous, ridiculous. But he also had some good jokes,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: some solid jokes in between. Then dude did a ton
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: of specials. You know, the craziest story, the Gallagher story
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: is Gallagher retired and his brother took over. His brother
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: was Gallagher two, so he had a brother that kind
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: of looked.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: Like Gallagher Gallagher too.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: And then somewhere down the line, Gallagher decided he wants
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: to start doing comedy again, and he's like, hey, Gallagher two.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: The gig is up and he's like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I'm making money. I'm Gallagher two. I think there was
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: some sort of illegal dispute to find out if that's correct,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: there was a legal dispute between them. Gallagher's younger brother, Ron,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: shared a strong likeness to Leo, asked him for permission
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: to perform shows using Gagher's trademark sledge oomatic routine. Leo
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: granted his permission on the contingent and the condition that
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Ron and his manager clarified in promotional materials that this
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: was Ron Gallagher, not Leo Gallagher who was performing. Ron
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: typically performed in venues smaller than those of which Leo
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Gallagher performed. After several years, Ron began promoting his act
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: as Gallagher two or Gallagher too or two. In some
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: it says Ron's act was promoted in a way that
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: left unclear the fact that he was not the original Gallagher.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Leo initially responded by requesting, only did his brother not
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: use the sledg dramatic routine? You can't use the fucking
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: you can't use the sledgehammer. Ron nonetheless continued to tour
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: as Gallagher two using the routine. In August two thousand,
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Leo sued his brother for trademark violations and false advertising.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: The court ultimately sided with Leo and granted an injunction
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: prohibiting Ron from performing any act that impersonated his brother
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: in small clubs and venues. This injunction also prohibited Ron
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: from intentionally bearing likeness to Leo. What imagine You can't
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: look like your brother. You can't cut your mustang. Yeah,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: you gotta change you mustache, You gotta get rid of
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: the beard. That's crazy. So did did Gallagher continue with
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: his career after he kicked his brother out? Did he
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: come back? Was that part of it?
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: I think yeah?
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I think I don't know. Nobody means it doesn't say
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: it there, didn't say it here, It doesn't say.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Specifically in this paragraph.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Now does did? When did Gallagher start performing? Again? Put
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: that in a search see what it says, because I
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: think he did start performing again.
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: Yeah, he says he was rushed to the hospital after
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: performing in twenty eleven.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Oh okay, in what year did he sue his brother?
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: Two thousand?
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Oh so he did start doing comedy again, So that's it. Yeah,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: so he's like, hey, motherfucker.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: Yeah he hit a special in two thousand and seven
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: and t Yeah.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: You can't be doing that with Gallagher too, running around
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: siphoning off of your crowd. You know, people like, honey,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: you want to spend fifty bucks and see leo, oh
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: do you want to spend twenty bucks? See basically the
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: same shit. See Ron smashing fucking cabbage.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Yeah you had yeah, carrot top and imagine.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Saying yeah, you can perform, but you can't use the sledgehammer.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: I would use a mallet. What about a matt Can
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: I use a mallet?
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: It's a baseball bat. You could just have someone pitch
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: me things and I smash him into the crowd.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't own that. That's a different thing. I'm
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: handing out oranges and tomatoes and the OIDs.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I honestly, I don't give a fuck what you
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: do as long as you like what you're doing. It's
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: like I love certain kinds of music that's completely opposite
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: to the other ship that I love. I mean, I
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: like all kinds of stuff. I don't think you should
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: pigeonhole yourself with anything, but I would not take my kids,
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: especially when they're really young, to see someone who's like
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: very sexual or really rowdy or really raunchy, like you know.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: The caveat to this is he was in the green
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: room and they were looking right at him, like they like,
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: and I'm like, what is change? Tell me what your
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: I didn't know they act.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: But so he didn't say, hey, bro, you got young kids?
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Yeah? Hey, because I would say, hey, man, tonight, you know, yeah,
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: set an event.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: I would definitely do that if, especially if you were
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: another comic and you brought your kids out of bro.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Yeah, because like yo, you know, you got to get
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: him out of here.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: They don't need to know about all these techniques.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Yeah, So that that's weird, you know.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: But that is weird. But you know what I mean,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: it's like time and a place, like who was he
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: doing it for? I mean, they probably knew what he
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: did before they hired him. They probably wanted that someone's
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: a fan, which is fine, but just don't invite kids.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: And like I said, I didn't. All I did was hey,
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: how on, let's go, and that I didn't. Hey, y'all
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: should have been I'm like, hey, man, do what you do.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: But I'm getting my kid out of here, man. And
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: then you get the phone call, hey man, why you leave?
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: You don't really want to know why I'm leaving because
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: you are terrorizing my child. So yeah, it no. But
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: I definitely wouldn't take my girls to like noning.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: I'm like noning, not at all. My wife got mad
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: at me when I think one of my daughters was
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: six and the one was eighth. I had to watch
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: the movie Alien. Did you ever see that movie Alien?
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: The original movie? Yeah, fucking terrifying. This is too young,
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: this is too young. I fucked up, you know.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: I think Hassan watched Annabelle when he was young, and
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: it was creepy. It was he was traumatized. He watched
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: somebody else's house, you know, with some other kids, and
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: they were like, I guess they they understood, but Hassan
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: was it was a whole problem. Like you're talking about
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: sleeping with all the lights on the house. I want
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: all the lights on and I'm sleeping in your bed like,
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: do you.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Ever go to that place in Vegas? It's haunted me
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Zach Baggin's Haunted Museum. He has the Annabelle doll there.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Wow, yeah, there it is.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Which one is one of the right?
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Hell no, that's the real one. It is the one
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: on the left, the movie one. Oh really interesting.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: Wow. So that Annabelle is both on creepy as hell
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: to me, but well.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: There's something it's something extra creepy about the one with
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: eyes like a person, the left one.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: That's insane.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: You believe in ghosts?
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Really? Have you had experience?
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: No? Oh no, no, no, no, no I have. Let me
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: go back, let me let me say that I do
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: believe in ghosts. So my old house, will my mom
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: says that, now, it's a girl that lives there. You know,
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: I don't know what happened in this house, but it's
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: definitely a girl that lives in the house. But she
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: would only come from like the hallway, bathroom to the kitchen.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: And I remember doing the Pandemica ghost. Yeah, that's that's
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: a girl. Okay, she's definitely a girl. And I remember
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: being during the pandemic. I was in the den and
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: I was working on I was working on something and
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: literally I just turned to set, so you up, huh?
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: And because I can feel her, I was like yo,
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: because but and I had to go back through my family.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: A lot of people in my family have experiences with
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: past relatives that passed on. My uncle said he saw
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: his dad was my grandfather in his shoes, and my
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: mom said she saw my grandfather before. And that lived
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: in that died in the house that they had in Mississippi.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: But yeah, I believe in ghosts. I believe in unsettled spirits.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: He definitely had a girl that lived in a house.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: My grandmother, the one I was telling you about before,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: she was very interesting and she really strongly believed in ghosts.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: And there was a guy that stayed with them for
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: a while. They had like an upstairs area that they
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: weren't using once the kids left, and so they rented
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: out like it was like an attic space that they
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: had converted or so, I forget exactly what it was. Anyway,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: they rented out a room to this guy where wherever
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: the circumstances were, and he died, and my grandmother swore
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: that that dude stayed in the house.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I believe it.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I think it's possible that if something happens to you,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: that if you're dying, it's a very traumatic experience. And
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: I have a feeling that we don't totally understand memory,
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: and we assume that memory is something that only human
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: beings have, or that only animals have, or that only
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: creatures living creatures have. I don't think that's real. I
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: have a feeling there may be a type of memory
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: from particularly traumatic experiences that stays in a space. And
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: I think this is one of the reasons why they
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: have to disclose within a certain amount of time. Someone's
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: been murdered in the house in a lot of places
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: before you buy it, because people don't want to live
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: in a house that's got that energy in it. Because
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: I think I think things keep energy. I think they do.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: They I think there's something more to memory than just
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: as simple as oh, remember when we were five. I
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: think there's something else there. I think I think that's
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: our memory, but I think there's a type of memory
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: in things. That's what I think.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: I believe in the unseen world, so I believe in gens,
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: you know, I believe in angels. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: So it's an unseen world that's not, you know, our thing,
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: but it was things that was things here before us, you.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: Know, So I think there's things here with us.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely with it.
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: And people who don't think that haven't smoked d MT,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: but I definitely get get hold of some DMD and
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: you're like, Okay, I don't know shit. There's things around
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: me all the time. There's things that are influencing you
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: all the time. And this is like when we talk
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: about like good energy and bad energy. One of the
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: things you experienced in psychedelic states is a clear recognition
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: of like good things that you've done and bad things
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: you've done. Good, the good way of thinking, the good
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: way you think about things a positive way, and bad
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Like I remember having negative thoughts in an experience once
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: and it was all these like dark fractals, and then
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: I realized it was trying to show me that these
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: dark fractals, these crazy geometrics, like scary patterns that I
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: was saying, was because of my own thoughts. And then
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I released them and it turned into beautiful geometric patterns
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: over and over, and it kept saying like look at
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: this and look at this, and I was like, oh,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: it's actually, the way you think changes the world around you.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: It has an effect. It might not have the ultimate effect,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: it might not be one hundred percent of what happens
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: to you and in your life, but it has a
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: meaningful effect. We just can't measure it. And there's things
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: that are out there, whatever they are, they have some
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: kind of consciousness that are around us all the time.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: We just don't have the senses to take them in.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Just like when you wave your hand over an earthworm
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: and there's no fucking idea you're doing that. We don't
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: have the senses to understand that there's things around us.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: And people have been writing about these things for so
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: long to discount them all. They're all liars, they're all delusional,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: they're all crazy.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: I think that people discount on dudes thinking that they
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: were on drugs.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Well they probably were, but it doesn't mean they're wrong.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: It doesn't mean it doesn't mean they're wrong.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: You know, like.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: A drunk, A drunk really don't tell a lot of lies.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: That's a drunk don't tell a lot of lies. It can't.
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: I'm drunk, I can't remember all that. I'm just saying
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: what it is. What I'm saying but when people like LSD,
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: you know, you loosen it, you know, or mushrooms or
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: these things, people are like, well, you only saw that
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: because you was on this. But maybe that's the portal
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: on how you see certain things.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: I think there's certain things that we block ourselves from
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: being able to see our own protective instincts. We protect
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: our thoughts. I mean, this is why people, I think
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: get paranoid when they smoke weed. One of the things
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: that weed does is it dissolves all these artificial barriers
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: that you've put between you and and the thoughts of
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: real danger. They're all there. You realize your vulnerability, you
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: realize who you are.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: So just think of how years ago how we was viewed,
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: how marijuana was viewed. It was taught that marijuana is
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: a gateway drug to crack, Like I didn't believe that, Like,
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: how does that even correlate? But it's for those who
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: are trying to find an ultimate high. Maybe you just
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: smoke weed and that's all you ever did you know,
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: and you wasn't trying to find another high. I think
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: some people try to find another high. Like now, man,
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: a lot of these young people are on so many
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: different things at the same time, like what are you
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: searching for? You know? They popping pills, doing coke, drinking lean,
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: doing everything all at the same time, Like what is
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: and drinking?
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: What?
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: What are you trying to escape? Or what are you
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: searching for? You know? And I just know people who
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: just smoke weed and still smoke joints, like they don't
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: smoke the I know people who grow their own bud.
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: They not even trusting what's going on now now they
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: finding fittanyl and all this marijuana, you know, and.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: Depesticides, horrible pesticides, because what people don't know is that
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: a giant percentage of all the drugs or marijuana rather
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: that people are buying in places where it's illegal. They're
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: growing them in national forests in California, and the cartel's
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: doing it, and the cartel uses a bunch of pesticides
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: and herbicides that are illegal, like real toxic shit, and
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: they find them doing it all the time. They find
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: these grow ops in the forest all the time because
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: it's a misdemeanor. So because marijuana is legal in the
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: state of California, growing it is just a misdemeanor. So
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: you could have a full scale growop in you know,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: public land out in the forest, and these guys find
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: them there all the time. A friend of mine found
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: one in a ranch that he works at. He followed
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: these PVC pipes and he realized that some guy was
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: diverting water into this little area that was on a
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: Tahone ranch, which is a big ranch outside of Bakersfield.
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: But this dude that was on my podcast for his
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: name is John Norris. He wrote a book about it.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: He was a game warden and turned into a tactical unit.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: They had to get like dogs like Belgian moulois and
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: shit with bullet prin vests. And they're going in there
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: having shootouts with the cartel because the cartel had set
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: up these marijuana grow ops in the woods and it
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: was his job to police that area. So like, okay,
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: I guess that's what we're doing now. And then they
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: it's a crazy story, man.
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: Its sound of like moonshine. That's why you shine exactly,
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: And this thing moonshine. Moonshining developed into NASCAR exactly.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: Exactly. They had to outrun the cops. Yeah, that's what
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: NASCAR came about from. It's fun, it's I mean loosted. Also,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: it's al Capone. You know, it's all the mob. They
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: were all running alcohol and there's a lot of people
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: that were connected to them. You know, some people believe
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: that JFK's dad was involved in alcohol, but that's disputed.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: But the point is, like a lot of people were
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: making money selling alcohol and they were all criminals, all
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: of them. And so what are you doing. Are you
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: stopping people from getting marijuana? Nope, what you're doing is
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: you are empowering a criminal empire, giving them an immense
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: amount of money, and they're probably gonna have to kill
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: a few people because people getting the way. They're probably
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: gonna have to rob a few people because people are competition.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: There's a little bit of a problem over here. We've
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: got another guy growing.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: When we live in we live in a society where
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: the bad guy is definitely romanticized. So how do you
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: stop people from wanting to be the bad guy when
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: it's so romanticized and and everything.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: You know, it's romanticized to the point where John Wick
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: is a good guy. Yeah, John Wick is a contract
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: killer for the Russian mob. He kills who knows how
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: many fucking people, and he's the good guy.
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: But but you got a problem with the iceman right.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: A terrible person, you know, poison John Wick at least
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: put sucksy in that suit.
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: But you cannot wait for John Wick sixth to come
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: out and.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Wait, I love those well there john Wick movie, though,
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: like he had a reason. They killed his dog and
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: they stole his car. They fucked up, they fucked up,
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: they stole the wrong guy's car, and they killed the
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: wrong guy's puppy. And so you're rooting for him, You're
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: rooting for him to kill all these bad Russian guys,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: but you don't realize, like that guy's been a contract
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: killer for the Russian mob for who knows how how
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: many dads is he's assassinated, how many fucking people that
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: have families that will never come home to them because
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: of John Wick?
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: And yep, and sometimes a lot of times, you know,
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: people don't care. Do you know it's weird.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: Well, we're weird. We're a weird animal. We're a weird
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: animal and a constant flux of thoughts and you know,
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: trying to figure out what's the right way to think
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: and the wrong way to think. And people joined religions
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: for it, they'll join cults for it, they'll join political
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: movements for it. They just want to find a way
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: to think that makes them feel better than the way
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: they think.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: Right now, you know, with with the need to feel
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: better outside of yourself you know, or you're family you know,
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: or being you know great to society, I think that's
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: detrimental to this society. Well, I just need I personally
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: need to feel better, but I don't want the community
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: around me to feel better. And in my mind, if
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: everybody around you in the community feels better, I think
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: it makes for a more harmonious, you know, environment than
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: me just being the only one.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: That's because you're a wise person. The problem is there's
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: a lot of people that aren't wise and there's no
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: one wise around them. And that's that's the real issue,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: is that there's an extreme lack of like a good
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: direction book of how to lead a solid life. You're
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: not taught at school. School. You're taught to sit down
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: and learn some shit that you don't give a fuck
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: about learning, memorize this, do good on the test. You
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: got to get a job. What's a job? Well, you
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: gotta sit there and do some shit you don't want
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: to do to get some money. And with the rest
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: of your time. You can do whatever you want as
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: long as you keep showing up every morning at the
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: same spot. Okay, and then that sucks, And so what
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: do you want to do? I want to escape this suck?
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: So what do I need? Cold syrup? Okay, give me
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: some of that? What do I need weed? Give me
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: some of that? Adderall oh, aderall makes me like the job. Okay,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: I'll take this shit every day. Now, I don't give
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: a fuck. Now I'm trying to get ahead. Next thing,
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: you know, I'm moving up the corporate ladder. I'm not
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: a fucking animal, bro, because I'm on adderall. You're basically
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: on meth. You're on a well designed slow drip amphetamine,
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: and you're out there fucking sleeping four hours a day,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: getting hit done, you know, driving a Jaguar. And this
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: is the problem of society, he said, Like people don't
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: have a real There's a lot of people out there
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: that don't really have a purpose. They don't have a
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: real feeling of purpose in that life. You are very
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: fortunate because you found a thing that you're really good at,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: you love to do, and you make a great living
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: doing it. A lot of people don't have a thing
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: and they don't never they never never were taught to
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: pursue a thing, or they never saw anybody else do it,
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: and they realize they could do it too, and then
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: next thing you know, they're married and they have kids,
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: and they're in their thirties and then they're in their
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: forties and they feel like shit.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: I ask you a question. You have a team, correct,
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: team of people, team of people that sure, Okay, what
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: do you think your team is happy doing whatever they
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: do for the team.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: If I didn't think that, they wouldn't be working.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: Okay. So you don't want to be the only one
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: happy on the team.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: That's terrible. So, and you don't want to also have
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: someone on the team that is one of those people
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: that just never happy. That's a problem too. Yeah, that's
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: a problem too. So there's people out there you can't fix.
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: So with like I produce other people's specials now and
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: comics to hit me. Hey man, I want you to
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: dist my specially. I want you to do this for myself.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: And the hardest thing, because I'm a small company, the
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: hardest thing is when I have to explain to somebody
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: why it's or no, you know, on this particular special
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: and it's not just my no, it is for other
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: people's no. Because I tell people and I explain this,
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: if we're doing a special with you, you have to get
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: the approval of all five of us because we all
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: five do different things. And I want everybody who's involved
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: in your special to want to do it. Not they
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: have to do it because it's a part of the company. No,
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: I want them to want to do it. And I say,
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: I'm not putting you through a process that I'm not
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: putting myself through. You know what I'm saying. And I've
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: tested and I've tested this team with me giving them
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: a special that I knew there wasn't a special, and
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: I'm the head. I'm like, I sent it out and
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: they we brought it back to the table and it
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: was a lot of silence at first. I'm like, so
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: what we think? What we're thinking? And they was like,
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: I know, Like I was like, this is our I'm like, now,
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: I'm just listening to everybody's you know, opinion on it.
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: And they was like, y'all don't understand the direction. I
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: don't understand where you're going with this. I just you know,
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: we don't have to fix a lot of it, I'm like,
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: and I'm just sitting there listening. And we took the
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: vote and when we turned the vote in, it was
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: five notes, and it was like, so, did what was
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: your take on? I said, I knew it was a
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: note from the beginning. I just wanted to make sure
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: that y'all wasn't going to try to fluff me with
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: the because he's the head, we're going to say yes.
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: And I'm like, good, So time we do a project,
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: if that, I put it on the table, just like
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: I put anybody else's project on the table. And you
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: got to get all five people. If you want me
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: to finance, you gotta get me. Then you gotta get
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: the marketing person that's going to market. Then you got
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: to get the director, you gotta get the manager. You
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: gotta get everybody so they can feel good about pushing
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: your project. I don't want anybody pushing the project that
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: they don't like.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: That's very smart. Yeah, so you make it a democracy.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: You're smart.
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: So you got all five of us, then now we're ready.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. And now I'm gonna feel
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: good about somebody coming to me and say this is
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: gonna cost this right, because I know they're doing it
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: out of hey man, this is what's gonna cost. We're
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: gonna figure it out. And I'm like cool. But even
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: when I do a special man, they it is a
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: lot of you don't want to talk about this part,
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: Like no, it's like we should talk about this part.
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: And it spent some decisions that have been made. That
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: was it was my call at the end, but it
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: was somebody else's idea. Like with Domino Effect, it would
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: have never been a Domino Effect two three or four
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: if I would have stuck with the name that I
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: started with. The name was nineteen eighty three, so how
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: what it was gonna be eighty three eighty six and
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: I Rugged, which won what three Rebby Awards. Rugged was
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: was the original name was I'm not Handy And Eric
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: called me, was like, no, we're I've listened to it.
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: I watched it so many times. I think that we
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: should go with this name. And he he gave me
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: the name and I sat on it for a day
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: and then I called him back and I'm like, yeah,
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: you about right, people, and I think that people should
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: put like right now, I'm on the custom Fit tour.
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: Well I'm off into August because I'm gonna take six
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: weeks of vacation. But custom Fit is not going to
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: be a special. It's just the tour that I'm doing
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: now because the specials that I'm writing are different than
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: what I just wanted to take this time to just
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: do some material. I didn't want to be working on
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: a special. But the theme is about people think custom
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: Fit is about close It's not about clothes. It's about
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: tailor making. The people around you know what I'm saying
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: that can you can be a benefit to it, and
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: can be a benefit to you know what I'm saying,
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: not just having these people around, because you know, sometimes
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: people have a bunch of people around that secretly despise them,
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: you know, and secretly despise their success. And that's that's
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: detrimental to anything.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: Haters. Yeah, yeah, sometimes haters will get real close to you,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: stay stay next to you. It's a problem. I mean,
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: when you're in a position like you're in too, when
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: you're producing other people's specials, You're gonna get a bunch
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: of people to come to you that you don't want
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: to do their shit. It's just like owning the club.
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: The same issue. The way I bypass that I put
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: all the power into Adam. Adam eget decides who's there
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: and who's not there, and how the club gets scheduled,
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: and you know who passes and who doesn't. And he's
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: really good at it. You know, he's really good at it.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: I trust him implicitly, so I don't have to think
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: about it. And I like it so that when people
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: say I want to work at club, I'm like, well,
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: you get to talk to Adam. I just perform. I
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: might be the owner, but I just performed there. I
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: don't I don't think about it in terms of like
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: how the scheduling is. I often have to check the
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: website to see who's there. I don't know who's there,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: you know, it's uh, it might be mine. But I
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: got a guy who does it, and he does it
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: really well. So why would I get involved in that.
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: It's easier to not.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: When I had when I had a club in Houston,
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: I couldn't be funny in the club at all. Why
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: not because I was actively working the club. So I'm
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: on stage and I'm worried about oh, I said so
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: many other things you know going on, Like YO, did
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: you just drop a glass on the ground, Like I'm
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: I didn't have enough help, so you.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: Got to get the right help. I got very fortunate
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: in that a lot of the people that I took
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: to Austin, they were from the comedy store and they
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: were at work. So the comedy store closed because the
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: fucking stupid government of LA they wouldn't even allow them
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: to do outside shows. Wouldn't You couldn't do an outside
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: show in the parking lot of the comedy store. They
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: wouldn't allow it. It's so stupid. They were closed for
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: like a good solid year and a half. They couldn't
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: support paying all these people, so they had to get
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: rid of them. And I moved here, and it's the
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: same time. It just by chance it happened at the
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: same time, and so they were all out of work,
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: and I said, hey, let's get the band back together again.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: Let's let's do you guy. You guys want to move
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: to Austin. So I paid for everybody to come out here,
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: and I paid for them. I gave them a full
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: salary with everything for like a year and a half
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: or so, maybe even more, maybe two years before anybody
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: had to go to work because the club wasn't open.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: So I was like, I want to give you a job,
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: like so you could settle in, get used to Austin.
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: You're gonna get paid, like you get paid like you're working,
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: but you don't have to work. But I love you,
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: I know you, and you know come here.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: Very admirable. With the store. I just performed at the
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: store main room for te. They had a thing before
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: BT Wolfson I popped in. And the comedy store has
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: a certain politics to it that you know. I like
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: the other one a little more, even though all they.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: Service pop prop No.
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: The other comedy store, oh La Joyah, which is that
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: place is the ship. They just don't have food. You
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: don't popcorn drinks.
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: I don't believe in food and comedy clubs either.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: Yeah so, but.
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: It's just a different environment. Lahoya is like very nice,
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: beautiful place. That club is awesome.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: I love performing there. And with the store in La
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: it's like you get that and it's very it seems
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: very you know, segregated.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: This is now to me, that's when I how long
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: ago was this?
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: I just performed last week last Wednesday.
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: That's that's sad here because it wasn't like that before.
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: It seemed like the main room in the room around
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: the corner, and all these rooms are different spaces, and
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: that's to me, and I may just it may just
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: be that feel because I'm not there a lot, you know,
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: but when I come, when before I came that time,
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: but the management walked up was very pleasant.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: What do you mean by different spaces? But obviously the
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: different rooms, what.
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: Do I mean?
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: What you mean?
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: It seemed like the main room is different from the
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: room around the corner.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: Well, it is different, But what do you mean by
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: it feels different?
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: It feels a little different.
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: Well, I mean just by its design. It's a big showroom.
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: It's it's brighter, the ceilings are taller, and then you
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: get into the original room, which is just tight and perfect.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: The original room is like that's where you find out
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: what's real. You know, I've seen a lot of people
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: have rough sets. They were real, real confident going into
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: that room. That room is a truth serum.
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: I like a tight room.
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: Well then then then there's the belly room. The belly
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: room is the ultimate truth serum. Trying out new jokes
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: in the belly room is the place because you know,
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: only seat seventy people can't you can't bullshit those people.
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: That's the that's the the krim Dela crime is a
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: tight small bell rooms. That's what I came such a
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: good room. I came from small audiences.
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: They're the best. It's the best for finding out if
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: jokes are real. There's nothing like a small crowd. Look
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: in our club. We have the Little Boy, the little
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: we have Our rooms are named after the bombs they
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and uh Little Boy is
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: only one hundred and ten seats. It's a super low ceiling.
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: This is when you know it's It's those times in
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: comedy when you knew that that's what you actually loved
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: to do. And I remember I was in San Antonio
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: at this this place called Santa's. He he literally owned
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: the whole strip, the club, the washing teia, the corner store, everything,
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: a guy named Santa. I didn't know that he owned it.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: But it was like a rainstorm or something that got
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: the show got rained out and it is literally three
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: people in this room. It's two ladies in his Santa
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: and I don't I don't know that this is him
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: at the time, and we had to go on to
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: get paid. The promoter was like I'm not paying nobody
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: who don't go on, We're still doing the show. I'm like, okay,
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: so this is one hundred dollars. He's getting paid one
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: hundred dollars and he was like, who going up. I'm like,
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: I'm definitely going up, and I'm going up first, like
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: I don't, I don't care. I did like an hour
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: and thirty minutes for three people, and I was like,
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: because I kept looking at like anybody else going over
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: there was like, nah, were good, and I'm like I
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: and Santa. I remember he finally revealed that he was
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: the owner of the club and he was like, well,
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: let me take you to Bay. He took me to
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: the back and he gave me like seven hundred dollars.
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying for performing? He say, yeah, man,
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: you wasn't scared that me and my friends had a
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: good time and it was like three people. It was
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: literally the dude ame advance put the show on. It
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: was like three advances. Tell anybody was like, this is
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: when I knew Ali was different. When he went out
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: three people. He went first and he's like an hour
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: and thirty and he was like and it didn't look
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: like he was coming down. I'm like, yo, bro, I'm
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: I'm I'm here. This is what I do. I don't
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: and I need that hundred dollars. So that's definitely some
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: extra motivator that.
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: No one else wanted to go up.
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: They was like no. And another time I was at Wiley.
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: It was a Wili college and Marcus was performing and
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: the mic went out and it's like, all these people
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: in this in this out of the same place they
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: shot Denzel shot the movie The Great Debate. So we
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: we in this autoram and the sound goes out and
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: they started ribbing Marcus and I and I was in
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: the back and I was like, what's going on? And
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: it's like this sound went out and I walked out.
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: I was like, what's happening? And I said, hold on, Marcus,
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: let me let me, let me ask him some Wait
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: a minute. I know, damn well, y'all not in there
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: trying to get somebody a problem because y'all got us in.
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: We didn't bring this sound system, got us in fair
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: east Side High for broken clock and and so I
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: say listen, market sat down in the back and I
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: was like, Yo, this is what we're gonna do. I'm
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: gonna talk. Y'all gonna laugh, then I'm gonna talk some more.
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: But y'all can't be laughing all along because we don't
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: have no sounds. I'm not supposed to use my real
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: voice in this. So I'm at like forty five and
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: then I look back at Mark. I say, hey, man,
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: you won't come make up. Mark was like no, like
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: you got it. I got like an hour and twenty.
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: He was like, yo, at least nuts. I'm like, no,
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: this is what I do, and I'm gonna figure it out.
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: We did a show with the improv once in Hollywood
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: and the power went out and they were gonna cancel
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: the show. And we were sitting there talking and I said,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: why don't can we light the stage somehow? And they said, yeah,
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: we can get an emergency light attached to like a
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: generator and we could put a you know, put the
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: run the wires through the crowd and put an emergency
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: light on the stage. I go, that's that. We'll do that,
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: and then we'll just do stand up with no mic.
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: And we did the whole show with no mic. It
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: was the opening, middle, and then me I did a
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: full hour. It was amazing. Everybody had a great fucking time.
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: It felt special, It felt very unusual. You get to
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: see what it's like like when you don't have a
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: microphone and you're projecting to the back of the room.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: Changed my pacing on things. But it was great. It
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: felt cool. It felt like you were doing something and
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: the audience was into it. I go, look, we're gonna
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: have fun, right like, fuck it, who cares? This is
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: gonna be This is never gonna happen again, probably ever.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: I've never I've been doing comedy thirty something years, I've
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: never had that happen where I did a show with
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: no microphone except that one.
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: So this is the thing. These are the experiences that
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: as a comic going through the trenches that some comics
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: that never have, right because they didn't come up that way,
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: and you have a different set of chops and when
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: you come up a certain type of way, I've come
- 1:42:59Speaker 2: up up and just joking, had to be the craziest
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: place because some nights you're coming in it's like nine people,
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: but these nine people are into comedy, and Alice will
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: be like, you gotta do the show, like it's not
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: a we don't have a limit. We gotta do these
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: people that's here, because what the thing is that whole
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: idea that the show must go on regardless, regardless too well.
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: I learned that from Paul Mooney too, And one of
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: the things that I said, I did a show at
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: the Common Store. It's like the first time that Mooney
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: ever complimented me, and that I was always scared of him,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: since like Moody didn't like he was terrifying. He was
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: a legend. He was a legend, wrote for Richard Pryor,
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: and it was like the way he carried himself and
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: he didn't like you like. And I was twenty seven,
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: you know, I was young and stupid, and I went
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: up because I would always go up last or late.
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: I had late spots. And there was like fifteen people
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: in the room in my act and I heard in
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: the back room, oh oh, he was laughing, having fun,
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: and then he grabbed me. Afterwards, he goes, you're a
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: real motherfucking comic. He goes, that's what a real comic does.
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: He goes.
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: All these other motherfuckers they went up there and they did, oh,
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: where are you from, bitch? I know where I'm from.
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: Tell me some fucking jokes. Do your fucking act and
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: that's what you did. And I was like, wow, Paul
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: Mooney likes me.
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: Who me and Paul had a different type of relationship?
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: Did you and Paul not get along.
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: One? I have to always say I love I love
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: Paul until I met him. It's like Paul was on
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: some bullshit when he When I met Paul Man, I
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: was at the Improv and I was featuring for him,
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: and the improvt got me the feature for him, and
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: I was like, cool, I'm excited I get to meet
- 1:44:56Speaker 2: one of my idols in this game, one of the
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: people who changed the course of my pacing because it
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: my my lineage. Just sitting down, I passed through Paul.
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: So it's when I first started. I was a crazy man.
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: I was all over the place, thought that you had
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: to have this all this energy. And then this guy
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: named Dad's White walked into the club one night I
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: was there and Dead stood in the same exact place
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: that he never took the mic out the stand, put
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: his drink down on the stool, and Dad just stood
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: there and he was destroying this room, never took the
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: mic out the stand, and people and he always told
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: about people say Dad's Dad's why you don't take the
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: mic out the stand. And he's like, because there's a stand,
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: let the micshone.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: Some of my favorite comic shoo took the mic outstand.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: Ron White. Ron White just stands there with a drink
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: on a stool, sometimes with cigar, just killing with the
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: microphone in the stand. Oh Man, Joey Diaz. Joey Diaz
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: keeps the fucking mic in the stand and he makes
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: me laugh harder than any fucking human being that's ever lived. That.
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go to I'm gonna finish part, then.
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna go to rain So what did he do though?
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: So I'm in the green room and at the old
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: Empire where they had a downstairs you would come through
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: the it used to be a rainforest. Yeah, so it
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: was spelled by it at first and then it changed.
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: So I'm sitting in the green room and like, it's
- 1:46:30Speaker 2: a main part, then it's a smaller part. He walked
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: into the small part and said, hey, go count the room,
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: and I'm like what, Yeah, go count the room.
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: I was like, I don't.
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: I don't work here like that. I don't count the room.
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: And he was like yeah, all right. Then he walked out,
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: and then he came back like maybe twenty five minutes later. Yeah,
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: tell you your little white friend that is packed out there,
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: and I want my bonus? What like, what white friend?
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: What are you? What are you talking about? Raymon Cook
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: is the manager of the club at the time. He
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: was talking about Raymon, and I was like, yo, Paul,
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: I don't count the room. I'm the feature. Why would
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: I be counting the fucking room. Like, and then he
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: said something else, neggative me, And I'm like, yo, Paul,
- 1:47:24Speaker 2: if you say something else to me, I'm gonna kick
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: your ass packed, Like what is wrong with you? So
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: I called DL. I'm like, yo, I'm about to beat
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: up Paul on it. He's like, you can't beat up
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: Paul mo Ony. He's a legend. I'm even if you
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: beat him up, you're still not gonna win. It's like
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: it's gonna be a lost. So I'm like yo. So
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: then another time, oh, and then laid on that. That
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: same weekend, he had this lady with him and she
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: was sitting at the top and I was sitting up there,
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: and she got up and she left her purse. So
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: I didn't want to leave and leave the ladies person there,
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: so I grabbed the traveling I got the purse like this.
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: I came in. I'm like, hey man, you love your person.
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: Paul turned on what are you doing with her purse?
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: I said, she left it? And then the only thing
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: in my head is DL you cannot beat up Paul
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: on it. So I just walked down. I'm like, I'm
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: gonna fuck Paul up.
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: What year was this?
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: This is like three years before he died, and this
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: was the this is this is the old end.
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: Prov this is what i'd heard. Just for clarity, he
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: was struggling in the last years of his life, so
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: you probably didn't get the best version of Paul Mooney.
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: So then we were here in Austin. We're performing at
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: the theater that's right next to the Paramount. It's just
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: another theater that's connected to the Paramount, the Black Heritage,
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: the Black Art something and booked both of us, not
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: knowing that we had odds. So I mean my green
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: room and the lady comes in, Hey, she's very nice.
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: Hey a LEI Paul when he's next door? If I'm saying,
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: and you like to meet him? Saying? And I was like, no,
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: I'm cool, and then she goes, Paul, I leave, he's
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: next door. You know, I don't know if y'all want
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: to meet each other. And Paul was like, no, I'm cool.
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: And I went up. I'm in my green room and
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: the host is on stage, and Paul was getting ready
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: to go up, and this was his apology. He walked
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: by the room and came back like on purple Rain,
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: came back and leading in the room to Hi Yalli
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: And then I mean, Paul fucking nuts man, and yeah, but.
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: He that's you gotta take that. You know, there's certain
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: people are just eccentric. That's Paul. I mean, I wouldn't
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: have counted the fucking room either. I would have been like,
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: that's not my job.
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: But Ron White, I was in Orlando. Manager Orlando called
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: me say, hey, Alli, I know you have a I
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: know you can have a feature, but Ron White would
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: like to, you know, feature for you. And I was like,
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: I don't, I don't know. No person ain't Ron White.
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: And she was like you don't know Ron White. I'm like,
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: wait a minute, like Ron White, ron Wright. I think
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: it was like some other guy who's using his name
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: or something like that. His name happens to be Ron
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: White too. Like Ron White. He's like, yeah, I said
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: he wanted he want a feature for who? He said
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: you he called and asked. I was like the fuck?
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: I said hell yeah?
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: So I called Marcus. I'm like, yo, Marcus, you're gonna
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: go up and then you're gonna bring up Ron White.
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: When was this?
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: This was like maybe four years ago.
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: And Ron shows up and this huge tour bus. Like
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: I'm walking to the cub and I'm like, who busses this?
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, ship is Ron's? But got the
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: key la Bran on it, and and he's in his bus.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: He's not even in the green room. Then he then
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: I get knock on the door and it's his manager.
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: He's like, hey, Ron would like to know can he
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: come into green room? I was like, White, come into
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: the green room. So it comes in. He's like, yo, man,
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: I just want to I love what you do. I
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: just want to do some time. And Ron went up
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: there and was destroying this room. And I couldn't wait
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: to get up because I wanted to just talk about
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: fucking Ron White. Just beat it for me, and I
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: destroyed his room and wrong he sat out and watched
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: he was like, you're fucking amazing, Like and my mind
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: is I'm still in awe that Ron White wanted to
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: fucking I wanted to work with. I was like that
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: ship was crazy.
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: That's so cool. Well, you know, when he's working on
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: new stuff, that's what he likes to do. He likes
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: to go around and does a lot of sets. He's
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: constantly active. He's up the tonight, we're working tonight. He's
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: one of the main reasons I moved here. Ron moved
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: here before the pandemic. So I called him up in
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: like twenty eighteen. I'd loved having him at the store,
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: so he started coming to the store around twy, like
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: fourteen ish something like that, and oh my god. We
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: had so much fun for years and years, and he
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: had a beautiful place up in Beverly Hills. And then
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: he just got sick because he's always traveling. He just
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: got sick of the long flights and the traffic. And
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: I called him up, I go, why'd you move to Texas?
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: He goes, Austin's amazing. The food's fucking great, everyone's nice.
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: It's in the middle of the country. If I want
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: to fly to Florida, it's quick if I want to
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: fly to I'm like, God, damn it, can I live
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: in Texas? And then the shit hit the fan with
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: COVID and I was like, I get the fuck out
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: of California. This place sucks. They're telling me what to do.
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: This is not what I signed up for. You tell
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: me I can work, You tell me I have to
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: wear a mask. Fuck you. I'm getting out of here.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: And when I came to Austin, it was like one
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: of the main reasons why I was willing to move here.
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: I'm like, if we never do comedy again, at least
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: I can hang out with Ron.
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: And then everybody else came. And then once I mean
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: everybody says that I got everybody to move here, sorta.
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: I got a lot of people to move here, but
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Ron got me to move here. That's the most important thing.
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: Like Ron got me to move here. And then I
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: realized how nice people are here and how disconnected they
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: are from show business, and I was like, Oh, this
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: is so refreshing. Everyone's just normal. My neighbor's a normal guy.
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: Everyone's normal. They're regular people, just people living their lives,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: having a good time.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: It's like and for me, you know, because I love hunting.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: Everyone hunts out here. Yeah, it's it's it's like a
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: normal pastime. I tell people, I bow hunt in California.
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: Like Texas is Texas. We have been a gym for
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: a long time, and we just let we let other
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: people feel like they are up echelon.
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: We're like, okay, Texas ruled forever. I mean, you gotta
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: think Kennison and Hicks, two of the greatest of all time,
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: came out of Houston. Yeah, and when I was coming
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: here all the time, I knew it right. So one
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: of the things that was good about doing comedy is
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: a lot of people that moved during the pandemic just
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: wanted to get out of California. But they had no
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: idea what the rest of the world was going to be.
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: Like they've never been to Nashville, They've never never been
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: to Austin. I'd been here a couple dozen times. I
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: knew I loved it, So I was like, look, this
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: will be all right, Like I'll be fine, Like it
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: looks like I'm never doing comedy again. I was like,
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: it looks like comedy's done. It looks like they're gonna
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: fucking make us just stay indoors, especially in like blue cities,
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: Like this is crazy. You have to have a VAX
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: card to eat at a restaurant in New York City.
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: Like this is fucking bananas. None of this ship makes
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: any sense.
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: I remember you guys came, Mothership was coming. The next thing,
- 1:54:40Speaker 2: I know, Creaking the Cave was here.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: Creaking the Cave was here. First.
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm saying, how I heard about it. I'm like, oh, yeah,
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: like creaking a cave. I'm like, damn, okay, creaking the cave,
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: it's coming from New York. And then Mothership is here.
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: And then but they had rooms, you know. The main
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: thing was what was the room that that was so
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: hard to get in there? First it was an Austin
- 1:55:03Speaker 2: comedy club. Damn, I forget the name of it.
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: Velvet the room.
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: No, no, it was the actual comedy club, cap City,
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: Cap City, Yes, cap City.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: That place was always packed. Yeah you know I almost
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: bought that place.
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: Yeah I heard that.
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I almost bought that whole mall. But the guy
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: was trying to sell it to me wanted way more
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: than it was worth. And then he got roped up
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: in some FBI investigation. I was told while it was
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: going on and he was being investigated, and I was like, oh, okay,
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: and then you wound up getting arrested. But that building
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: was for sale, the whole thing was for sale. And
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: I went in there. I thought about how many shows
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: I'd been there, how many shows I'd seen there, how
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: many shows I had performed there over the I'm like,
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: I could own this place. Oh my god.
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: Cap City was the first place that I did on
- 1:55:53Speaker 2: the road with DL.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: That was a great club, you know, fucking great club.
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: Perfect club was amazing, such a fun place to work.
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: I think that people don't didn't realize how the rich
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: history of Houston, Dallas, Austin Lap Stop, San Antonio.
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: Bro Lapstop in Houston, river Oaks one of the greatest
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: clubs of all time. Somebody told me that that building
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: still exists like that, that it's still set up like that.
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: There's nothing in it. Is that true?
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: Nothing in it though, But it's still the same room.
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: Man. We might have to do a mothership Houston.
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's yeah.
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: We see. If there's another city that could support like
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: a large group of talented up and comers, Houston's one
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: of them.
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: So, you know, we have secret group there we have.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: They had the other cap City that was upstairs. Remember
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: they opened up the second one. They closed that one.
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: And the lab I'm sorry, lapstop. That was the last spot.
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: No, no, no, they have that already already exist.
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: So the last spot had went upstairs on WALLA had.
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: Thought that was the laugh stop. I thought it was
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: the same group that. No, it was the same group
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: that owned the laugh stop in river Oaks. The last
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: Spot was another place. I knew that because when I
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: was working at the laugh stop, Ralphie May was working
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: at the Last Spot and we got together and we're
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: hanging out and eat dinner. But that was that was
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: That was the old spot. Then there was the other
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: laugh stop that they put upstairs. It was a new
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: but it didn't last. It was only for a couple
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: of years.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't go to. I didn't go to.
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: It was a good spot and then it went under. Yeah.
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: Ari Shafir did it with a Hitler mustache. Once he
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: trimmed his mustache to look like Hitler.
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: All right, Ari is Aris is by far the craziest
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: person that I know. Like I thought my uncle Mag
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: was the craziest play And then I met Ari I'm like,
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: this is the craziest person that I know.
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: He's awesome, and he just moved to England. My brother
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: gonna stab you. He moved to England. They will fucking
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: stab you. They stabbed people there, don't get stabbed.
- 1:58:10Speaker 2: Ari is nuts, but he's such a cool dude. But
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: he's fucking nuts. Said. I went to go see him
- 1:58:17Speaker 2: at the Creak in the Cave when he was getting
- 1:58:20Speaker 2: ready to film It Special, and I was like, yo,
- 1:58:25Speaker 2: Ari is so Aria is so crazy. If you just
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: if people took time, just just go through the different
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: the many looks of Ari Shpil on the internet. The
- 1:58:34Speaker 2: one that killed me was the half he was just
- 1:58:39Speaker 2: bald on one side then on the others. I was like, yo,
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: he's doing two face, like he is insane.
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: Two face for Batman. Yeah, he's out of his mind,
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: but but that's really who he is. You know, he's
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: not trying.
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: Yeah he's not.
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: He's not what He's out of his mind, complete maniac.
- 1:58:59Speaker 2: When he told burn I heard about him tearing up
- 1:59:01Speaker 2: birds check it was like twenty five thousand dollars. He's like, yo,
- 1:59:05Speaker 2: I just made it about that and he just tore
- 1:59:07Speaker 2: the check up. They write you another one. I'm like,
- 1:59:10Speaker 2: are you insane? Like he's the greatest person. But I've
- 1:59:18Speaker 2: had some great conversations on the phone with him and
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: he's just and I.
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: Was very fucking smart, dude.
- 1:59:25Speaker 2: I was very smart when he called me to do
- 1:59:27Speaker 2: the his last the Endless, you know, I was like,
- 1:59:32Speaker 2: that's cool to say, because that that's where that's a
- 1:59:36Speaker 2: pivoting point, a major point in my career when I
- 1:59:39Speaker 2: did this is not happening.
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that was a great show man. It was
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: a great idea. I remember when he started doing it.
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: You started doing it at the lab at the improv
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: So you remember the lab. Yeah, another little room, cool,
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: cool little room. They should have never got rid of
- 1:59:54Speaker 1: that room. They changed that place and they fucked it up.
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: In my opinion, that's the room. The main room is
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: still awesome, but the lab used to be in the
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: back and it was like there wasn't a big bar there.
- 2:00:07Speaker 2: I think it's still there. It's different now, yeah, the
- 2:00:11Speaker 2: last time I did on Cole Yeah, but it's different.
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: It's not it's not the same setup it used to be.
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: You went through a door and it was like another
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: small room and in that small room it was separated
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: from the front door. They moved the front door, and
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: now everybody went in through the parking lot, right, and
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: so they went into the lab through the parking lot.
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: So the front door was back there that now, and
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: when you would open it, it was all this noise
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: from the street, and they had a curtain to block
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: off the noise, and you'd hear people. They were like
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: right next to your stage where they're buying tickets. It
- 2:00:40Speaker 1: was annoying. And then there was the bar, which is
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: right there. It's still a cool, little small room once
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: everybody settles in, but the original setup was way better.
- 2:00:48Speaker 1: And Ari started doing it there and I was like,
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: what are you doing And he's like, I'm gonna do
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: a storyteller show. I was like, well, fuck, was that?
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: That's what I thought? I was like, why are you
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: doing that? And then he said, well, it really helps
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: you without like having to have like punchlines and setups
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: and have everything really tight. You could find the beats
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: in the store. And it was like, oh, well, actually
- 2:01:10Speaker 1: that's brilliant. That's pretty fucking smart. It's a good alternative
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: sort of way to develop bits. You know, you develop
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: bits by working it out, but into a more loose
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: format of telling a story.
- 2:01:24Speaker 2: And I didn't even know that that was the premise
- 2:01:26Speaker 2: behind it, because when I got it, it was like,
- 2:01:30Speaker 2: you go on here, you tell a true story. And
- 2:01:33Speaker 2: I was like, okay, cool, that's my that's my thing, right,
- 2:01:37Speaker 2: you know. And I had just won Comedy Central's Comic
- 2:01:42Speaker 2: to Watch in like twenty thirteen, So you get a package,
- 2:01:46Speaker 2: you get an album, you get a half hour, and
- 2:01:50Speaker 2: you get a chance to go on one of the
- 2:01:51Speaker 2: shows that's already on Comedy Central. So they was pitching
- 2:01:56Speaker 2: me at the Adam Divine Show and I was like,
- 2:02:00Speaker 2: mm I don't like it. And it was another show.
- 2:02:03Speaker 2: I was like, nah, I'm cool. So every show that
- 2:02:05Speaker 2: they would say that they wanted me to go, I
- 2:02:07Speaker 2: was like, nah, this really ain't my thing. So then
- 2:02:10Speaker 2: Chase the Russo it young comic called me and said, hey, listen,
- 2:02:15Speaker 2: you might wanna go on this is not happening. I
- 2:02:20Speaker 2: was like, what's that? He says, It is a show
- 2:02:21Speaker 2: start on the internet, you know you. I went on it.
- 2:02:25Speaker 2: I I watched both, I think both seasons of it
- 2:02:30Speaker 2: on the internet and I was like, yo, this is
- 2:02:33Speaker 2: the this is the one. So I called Anne Harris
- 2:02:35Speaker 2: that w that come. I say, this is the show
- 2:02:37Speaker 2: that I wanna do, and I already know me. You know,
- 2:02:41Speaker 2: already was like, I don't know im. But Eric Abrams
- 2:02:45Speaker 2: is one of the co creators of the show. He
- 2:02:48Speaker 2: was like, I know him, so he he's pretty good.
- 2:02:52Speaker 2: You should bring him on, and I Ari would already
- 2:02:54Speaker 2: tell anybody. He's like, I didn't know what he was
- 2:02:56Speaker 2: gonna do, but all I know it was a truth.
- 2:02:58Speaker 2: All you had to do was tell our true story.
- 2:03:00Speaker 2: And I was like perfect. Eric thought that I was
- 2:03:03Speaker 2: gonna do the story that I did on the second
- 2:03:06Speaker 2: time that I was on, but I and I was
- 2:03:08Speaker 2: like when I got there, I was listening to people's
- 2:03:11Speaker 2: stories and I was like, nah, I'm gonna do a
- 2:03:14Speaker 2: lighter story because the second story is Mitchell. It's like
- 2:03:18Speaker 2: when I was gonna kill the CEO, and I was like, nah,
- 2:03:21Speaker 2: I should do a lighter one. And then I did
- 2:03:24Speaker 2: the prison ride, which is affectionately known this Mexican got
- 2:03:27Speaker 2: on boots and ours like the best fucking story I
- 2:03:30Speaker 2: ever heard. I'm like, me telling the story about a
- 2:03:33Speaker 2: riot a prison ride. You know, I'm telling her what happened.
- 2:03:40Speaker 2: And I only did like sixteen minutes of what happened
- 2:03:42Speaker 2: that was a whole that was a whole ordeal, Like,
- 2:03:46Speaker 2: it wasn't a sixteen minute riot. It was like nine hours.
- 2:03:50Speaker 2: Like the whole thing is like nin I only told
- 2:03:53Speaker 2: the beginning part of it, which was, you know, pretty cool, you.
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: Know what happened. I already lost the show.
- 2:03:59Speaker 2: Right yeah, yeah, and so that so when the show
- 2:04:03Speaker 2: came back, it is with Roy Woods. They called me
- 2:04:07Speaker 2: to do it, and the loyal spirit in me I
- 2:04:14Speaker 2: called Ari first. I was like, hey, they want me
- 2:04:18Speaker 2: to do this show. I'm really not fucking with it.
- 2:04:21Speaker 2: And he's like, no, no, do it. I was like
- 2:04:25Speaker 2: what He's like, I heard about all the stuff. He's like, man,
- 2:04:28Speaker 2: do it, Eric. Eric is still shooting it. You know
- 2:04:31Speaker 2: what I'm saying, So you should do it. He goes,
- 2:04:33Speaker 2: we wanted you to be the host, but they didn't.
- 2:04:36Speaker 2: They didn't want you to do it. You know, they
- 2:04:38Speaker 2: got Roy, which is cool.
- 2:04:40Speaker 1: I don't think they wanted anybody affiliated with Ari to
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: do it. So we're punishing Ari.
- 2:04:45Speaker 2: So when they tell.
- 2:04:47Speaker 1: People why so for people that don't know, they already
- 2:04:50Speaker 1: got a deal. He got an offer to do a
- 2:04:52Speaker 1: Netflix special and he wanted to do it, and they
- 2:04:56Speaker 1: wanted him to do the special on Comedy Central and
- 2:04:59Speaker 1: he said, well, I don't have to. He was son
- 2:05:00Speaker 1: in my contract. They said, well, if you don't do it,
- 2:05:02Speaker 1: we're going to cancel your show. And he was like, wow,
- 2:05:06Speaker 1: I can't believe you do that.
- 2:05:08Speaker 2: And that ain't what you tell Ari.
- 2:05:09Speaker 1: Nope, no, So we were trying to figure it out.
- 2:05:13Speaker 1: I offered the host it for free. I said, I
- 2:05:15Speaker 1: will come in and host it. I'd already done it,
- 2:05:18Speaker 1: so I'll come in. I'll host it for no money.
- 2:05:20Speaker 1: I go. Because he wanted to make sure that everybody
- 2:05:22Speaker 1: was paid. He was going to take out a loan
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: and Ari was going to pay all the grips, all
- 2:05:26Speaker 1: the camera people, because they you know these people, they
- 2:05:29Speaker 1: chared out their year. They're like, oh, I'm doing this,
- 2:05:32Speaker 1: is not happening for the next six weeks, and then
- 2:05:33Speaker 1: I'm doing this for five weeks and that's their year
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: and that's how they budget their life. And Ari decided
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: that he was going to take out a loan to
- 2:05:41Speaker 1: pay everybody. So and I'm like, wow, I go listen man,
- 2:05:45Speaker 1: it go tell Comedy Central that I'll host it for free.
- 2:05:47Speaker 1: They weren't interested. They weren't interested in anybody affiliated with him.
- 2:05:50Speaker 1: He tried to, he offered up a bunch of other comics. Yep,
- 2:05:53Speaker 1: they weren't interested.
- 2:05:54Speaker 2: So I was in that group of the bunch because
- 2:05:57Speaker 2: I know it was you, it was Joe, me Bird,
- 2:06:03Speaker 2: and they just got me to do it. Once Ari
- 2:06:07Speaker 2: told me it was cool, He's like, man, do it. Yeah.
- 2:06:09Speaker 1: I would never try to stop anybody from working.
- 2:06:12Speaker 2: So what I what I went on and did in
- 2:06:16Speaker 2: my protest of you know, you didn't want Ari. So
- 2:06:21Speaker 2: what I did was told the story about Ari. I
- 2:06:28Speaker 2: just told him like, okay, cool, It's like my story
- 2:06:31Speaker 2: is mushroom story, which is an Ari second and I
- 2:06:35Speaker 2: thought I was, you know, second season. I did this show.
- 2:06:38Speaker 2: Ari gave me, uh mushrooms, and I went through the
- 2:06:43Speaker 2: whole thing of what happened when R gave me the mushrooms.
- 2:06:46Speaker 2: I ate the mushrooms. I didn't know that they were
- 2:06:48Speaker 2: mushrooms mushrooms. I thought they was something else. And it
- 2:06:51Speaker 2: was like I the eighth of mushrooms and it was
- 2:06:54Speaker 2: a long.
- 2:06:57Speaker 1: Day, rude thing to not tell you to not eat
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: all of them.
- 2:07:02Speaker 2: And I remember Janis. Janis was my assistant, and I
- 2:07:08Speaker 2: remember I had to fly the next day, and I'm
- 2:07:10Speaker 2: still I'm still gone. I'm out of my shit. So
- 2:07:14Speaker 2: I get to the airport and I called Janice. I said, Jannis,
- 2:07:19Speaker 2: people are going through this machine and then I'm not
- 2:07:24Speaker 2: seeing him anymore, and it's like he's nuts. He's going
- 2:07:30Speaker 2: like and Janney said they probably going to various places,
- 2:07:34Speaker 2: and I was like, but I don't want to go
- 2:07:35Speaker 2: to various I want to go to Houston. So then
- 2:07:39Speaker 2: when I get up to THEA and I said, hey,
- 2:07:43Speaker 2: I'm seeing a lot of people go through this machine
- 2:07:46Speaker 2: and then I'm not seeing them anymore. Where are they going?
- 2:07:49Speaker 2: The man said, man, various places? And I got out
- 2:07:53Speaker 2: the line. I called Jane. I said, you are right,
- 2:07:56Speaker 2: they are going to various It's like he's nuts, like
- 2:08:01Speaker 2: he's losing it. I'm like, yo, I was so toasted
- 2:08:04Speaker 2: and just getting on the plane with still full of mushrooms,
- 2:08:08Speaker 2: it was I just I wanted to just close my eyes,
- 2:08:10Speaker 2: but the shit just wasn't working. It was like I
- 2:08:13Speaker 2: was out of it. I never it's mushrooms is a
- 2:08:16Speaker 2: crazy thing. It's a crazy thing. And that same week,
- 2:08:21Speaker 2: because I was there for a couple of days, Joey
- 2:08:23Speaker 2: Diz gave me a black Star, and I remember calling
- 2:08:32Speaker 2: somebody was like, Yo, don't you eat that shit, like
- 2:08:35Speaker 2: you say, if you want to lose it, don't you
- 2:08:37Speaker 2: This episode of I'm on Joy Diaz this back when
- 2:08:40Speaker 2: I was smoking, I took an edible with the blind
- 2:08:45Speaker 2: Jew and me and him. It's like you literally see us.
- 2:08:49Speaker 2: I was fine at first, and then you Joy is
- 2:08:54Speaker 2: the only person that's in this studio that's that's still together,
- 2:08:58Speaker 2: and you just slowly see us just melting. We both did.
- 2:09:01Speaker 2: And then I know I was speaking very good English
- 2:09:04Speaker 2: at one point. Then I was in It was like yeah,
- 2:09:09Speaker 2: Joey was like, no, I understand. I don't understand.
- 2:09:14Speaker 1: The church of What's happening now had some of the
- 2:09:16Speaker 1: greatest overdose on weed moments ever in the history of
- 2:09:20Speaker 1: the Internet. Just Lee just seeing Lee's Saya just melting
- 2:09:25Speaker 1: his can't keep his eyes open, He's just melting his chair.
- 2:09:28Speaker 2: And then Yo. It was like at first I was like, Yo,
- 2:09:31Speaker 2: he's tripping. Then all of a sudden, I'm like, this
- 2:09:34Speaker 2: is not happening to me, like it.
- 2:09:36Speaker 1: Was crazy, doesn't give a fuck. And then I want
- 2:09:39Speaker 1: to see the devil.
- 2:09:42Speaker 2: The other side of the story was another comic with
- 2:09:44Speaker 2: me named Billy Sirels. He had taken some edibles, but
- 2:09:48Speaker 2: he ain't on the show, so he's outside. He didn't
- 2:09:50Speaker 2: just melt it outside like he's just sitting on the
- 2:09:55Speaker 2: ground outside of the toy.
- 2:09:57Speaker 1: Like, yo, those black stars are five hundred milligrams.
- 2:10:00Speaker 2: Oh that.
- 2:10:03Speaker 1: Yeah, joe saw Joey eat two of those ones. He
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: just chuck down two of them. I'm like, that is
- 2:10:10Speaker 1: so crazy, that's so much. You know, Jamie doesn't feel it.
- 2:10:16Speaker 1: Edibles don't work on him. Jamie's got some weird fucking
- 2:10:19Speaker 1: biological condition. Yeah, I'm not afraid he doesn't, just doesn't
- 2:10:25Speaker 1: given not scared at all.
- 2:10:27Speaker 2: I've done two different types of mushrooms. I didn't know
- 2:10:30Speaker 2: that there were. It's like the ones where I was
- 2:10:33Speaker 2: really on one that's the one that gave me, and
- 2:10:35Speaker 2: then there's some other ones that made me very talkative,
- 2:10:39Speaker 2: like drool on his shirt. Another dimension.
- 2:10:55Speaker 1: Right now, he can't keep the headphones on, just doing
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: Joey's the best. They're back they're doing it again. They're
- 2:11:05Speaker 1: back together again. Yeah, man, they're doing it? Are they
- 2:11:08Speaker 1: doing it? Out of New Jersey? Is that what they're doing. Yeah,
- 2:11:12Speaker 1: he's the best.
- 2:11:14Speaker 2: I remember I call Moses Malone for Joey because he's
- 2:11:17Speaker 2: a big Moses Malone fan. Before Moses died, I called
- 2:11:20Speaker 2: it like, you know, Moses alone, no fucking way, you
- 2:11:24Speaker 2: know you got no fucking Mos. And then Moses was
- 2:11:28Speaker 2: Moses was nuts too, Like most of Malone was.
- 2:11:32Speaker 1: Have you heard about these new mushrooms that make you
- 2:11:34Speaker 1: see the little tiny people?
- 2:11:36Speaker 2: Oh? No, no I haven't. The talkative ones were like
- 2:11:40Speaker 2: I called a lot of people on my phone and
- 2:11:43Speaker 2: everybody's same report was you know, you call me like
- 2:11:46Speaker 2: three in the morning about you want to talk to
- 2:11:48Speaker 2: me about my life?
- 2:11:51Speaker 1: And which ones are those? What did you take? It's
- 2:11:54Speaker 1: not psilocybin, it's something different.
- 2:11:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's something different. It made me very talkative. Dlay.
- 2:12:00Speaker 2: I told Delay about him, comed name Delay. I told
- 2:12:04Speaker 2: him about Hi because I called him and I talked
- 2:12:06Speaker 2: to him for like hours just about so. Then he
- 2:12:11Speaker 2: ended up taking the same mushrooms and he called me
- 2:12:14Speaker 2: and I knew what it was. I was like, go ahead,
- 2:12:17Speaker 2: just talk. He was talking his ass off. I had
- 2:12:21Speaker 2: put the phone out and went to sleep. I woke
- 2:12:23Speaker 2: up he was still talking. I was like, Yo, this
- 2:12:26Speaker 2: cit is crazy. What is it? Man?
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: I gotta Jemmy put that into perplexity.
- 2:12:31Speaker 2: I got a call.
- 2:12:32Speaker 1: Put that into our AI sponsor and find out what
- 2:12:34Speaker 1: mushrooms make you talking of.
- 2:12:36Speaker 2: I know who gave him to me, so I called
- 2:12:38Speaker 2: her and asked, Hey, it was inshrooms that you gave me.
- 2:12:41Speaker 2: Because she went and bottomed and like I was fucking
- 2:12:44Speaker 2: talking his mess.
- 2:12:45Speaker 1: I don't know what that is. I've never heard of
- 2:12:47Speaker 1: that before. Most of the time when people take shrooms,
- 2:12:49Speaker 1: they can't talk, and it's.
- 2:12:50Speaker 2: Like I was, I was on one crazy because one
- 2:12:55Speaker 2: because the ones that already gave me.
- 2:12:58Speaker 3: Mushrooms in general, huh, people's response.
- 2:13:01Speaker 1: To it, yeah, but it seems that there's different responses
- 2:13:03Speaker 1: to different ones.
- 2:13:04Speaker 3: I know what I'm saying on the screen says what
- 2:13:06Speaker 3: I just said.
- 2:13:06Speaker 1: Huh. I don't think there's enough research for perplexity to
- 2:13:09Speaker 1: have an educated answer, right, How much research are they
- 2:13:12Speaker 1: doing out there? Talkative social on magic mushrooms, But there's
- 2:13:16Speaker 1: no specific mushroom reliably proven to make you talkative. All right,
- 2:13:20Speaker 1: Ask if there's a mushroom that makes you see little people?
- 2:13:25Speaker 1: I know, I know, but I want to see what
- 2:13:27Speaker 1: perplexity has to say about it? What does perplexity say
- 2:13:31Speaker 1: ask it about? Is there a mushroom that makes you
- 2:13:33Speaker 1: see little people? Let's see if it really is up
- 2:13:38Speaker 1: on its psychedelic science.
- 2:13:41Speaker 3: Repeat the articles.
- 2:13:42Speaker 1: I just I want to see what it says, though.
- 2:13:45Speaker 1: It's just a question to see how it handles this. Yes,
- 2:13:51Speaker 1: a specific edible mushroom called land moa uh assiatica has
- 2:13:59Speaker 1: been reported to cause very vivid hallucinations. You say, hallucinations.
- 2:14:03Speaker 1: Maybe they're really little people right there, of little people
- 2:14:06Speaker 1: when it's undercooked, a phenomenon known as Liliputian hallucinations. Some
- 2:14:11Speaker 1: good thing is, how do you know it's a hallucination?
- 2:14:14Speaker 1: Maybe you're just now can see these things that people
- 2:14:17Speaker 1: have been writing about for eons. How ignorant are people?
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: And how arrogant are we that we know everything that's
- 2:14:24Speaker 1: going on all around us all the time.
- 2:14:26Speaker 2: We don't.
- 2:14:26Speaker 1: People have always thought gremlins were real and gnomes were real,
- 2:14:31Speaker 1: and fairies.
- 2:14:32Speaker 3: Studying that since the sixties.
- 2:14:34Speaker 1: Of course they have been I'm studying it right now.
- 2:14:37Speaker 1: Let's study let's go study mushrooms.
- 2:14:40Speaker 2: Man.
- 2:14:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they've been studying it. But like the real problem
- 2:14:44Speaker 1: is there's got to be a bunch of I know
- 2:14:47Speaker 1: for sure there's other strains that are much more potent,
- 2:14:50Speaker 1: because I know a guy who is a mushroom guy.
- 2:14:52Speaker 1: He's like deep in the world of mushrooms, and he
- 2:14:55Speaker 1: was explaining to me though, there's one that's like ten
- 2:14:57Speaker 1: x stronger, and there's there's new ones that they found.
- 2:15:00Speaker 1: I think they found a new one, I want to say,
- 2:15:02Speaker 1: in China they found a new hallucinogenic mushroom. But this one,
- 2:15:06Speaker 1: this little Pusian one, is weird because it's not psilocybin.
- 2:15:09Speaker 3: So it's cooked and says something to do with it.
- 2:15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, see them. No, it's that. I think this
- 2:15:16Speaker 1: might be the Chinese one because I think it's a
- 2:15:18Speaker 1: is it? Yeah, okay, so this is a conflated China
- 2:15:22Speaker 1: so they eat it. If you cook it and you
- 2:15:24Speaker 1: do a real good job cooking it, you don't trip.
- 2:15:27Speaker 1: But apparently some people have not cooked it and eaten
- 2:15:30Speaker 1: it and go, oh, wait a minute, what are we
- 2:15:32Speaker 1: cooking out of this? When you're you might be cooking
- 2:15:35Speaker 1: out whatever the mushroom is giving you to let you
- 2:15:37Speaker 1: see the spirit world or see the fairy world or
- 2:15:40Speaker 1: the gnome world or whatever it is with restaurants.
- 2:15:43Speaker 3: You can get it into restaurants.
- 2:15:44Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 2:15:45Speaker 2: I'd be like, hey, hey he undercooked my.
- 2:15:49Speaker 1: Just put it on some salad dressing, said that out,
- 2:15:52Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 2:15:53Speaker 2: I don't have Unfortunately, I don't have a problem with mushrooms.
- 2:15:57Speaker 2: I think that, and that's like, unfortunately, what do you mean?
- 2:16:00Speaker 2: Because you know, some people were like, you shouldn't be
- 2:16:02Speaker 2: on that. But I don't have a problem with mushrooms,
- 2:16:06Speaker 2: and especially if I'm in a in a safe environment,
- 2:16:10Speaker 2: but being at the lows on mushrooms that's not That's
- 2:16:16Speaker 2: not the best place to be.
- 2:16:18Speaker 1: Like also, trying to fight it. If you fight it,
- 2:16:20Speaker 1: you're fucked you if you if you start going and
- 2:16:23Speaker 1: you start no, I don't like this. Oh can it
- 2:16:27Speaker 1: get dark on you?
- 2:16:28Speaker 2: Like I've tried to wrestle with it. I've had them
- 2:16:30Speaker 2: in chocolate, like a little chocolate squares, and it's been
- 2:16:34Speaker 2: there's been a time. I don't there's been a time.
- 2:16:37Speaker 1: But sometimes you can get.
- 2:16:38Speaker 2: Right to see little people. I definitely want to be
- 2:16:42Speaker 2: somewhere or I don't. I just need to be somewhere safe.
- 2:16:48Speaker 1: Brian Simpson has a lyrics story about someone gave him
- 2:16:51Speaker 1: a mushroom chocolate bar, and he put it in his
- 2:16:53Speaker 1: freezer and forgot, forgot that it was a mushroom bar,
- 2:16:56Speaker 1: and then just ate the whole thing and just went
- 2:16:59Speaker 1: to Pluto. He's like Doctor Manhattan sitting on Mars fucking
- 2:17:07Speaker 1: Lotus position.
- 2:17:09Speaker 3: This one's kind of strange. It says, it doesn't matter
- 2:17:11Speaker 3: who you are or what you do, You're gonna have
- 2:17:14Speaker 3: the same experience as everybody else has done it.
- 2:17:16Speaker 1: Okay, at that point in time, when do we start
- 2:17:20Speaker 1: to say, maybe there's something in this substance, this compound,
- 2:17:24Speaker 1: this molecule that lets you interact with something that's real,
- 2:17:27Speaker 1: that's around you. If it's repeatable over and over and
- 2:17:29Speaker 1: over again, if all these people see the same thing
- 2:17:31Speaker 1: over and over and over again, and people have been
- 2:17:34Speaker 1: writing about it since the beginning of time. They've been
- 2:17:36Speaker 1: writing about elves and fairies and gnomes and magic people
- 2:17:40Speaker 1: in the woods. What do you think they were doing?
- 2:17:42Speaker 1: They were probably eating these fucking mushrooms.
- 2:17:44Speaker 2: So it's his show that I watch that I still
- 2:17:48Speaker 2: don't know what this show is about, but I've watched.
- 2:17:52Speaker 2: I'm on season number four, and I have no idea
- 2:17:56Speaker 2: with which shows it it's called from Ah.
- 2:17:58Speaker 1: I've been watching it. Love that show. I'm in the
- 2:18:01Speaker 1: middle of the season four right now.
- 2:18:03Speaker 2: And so you know he's taking mushroom.
- 2:18:05Speaker 1: The one guy did, yeah, well you spoiler.
- 2:18:06Speaker 2: Alert no, but you know, but.
- 2:18:08Speaker 1: You already spoiler I know. But the people that are
- 2:18:11Speaker 1: listening don't know. He don't.
- 2:18:12Speaker 2: It's still.
- 2:18:13Speaker 1: Don't suck this up. It's good.
- 2:18:15Speaker 3: And one of these new shows that's been talked about
- 2:18:20Speaker 3: to getting moved.
- 2:18:20Speaker 1: No, no, no, that's still on Paramount. Yeah it's MGM.
- 2:18:26Speaker 1: I think it's MGM. Yo, great show, very original. I
- 2:18:31Speaker 1: still People is officially on Netflix. There it is damn
- 2:18:37Speaker 1: Oh wait a minute, hold on, maybe it's on Netflix
- 2:18:39Speaker 1: as well.
- 2:18:39Speaker 3: Yeah, that's all I was. That's what it came on
- 2:18:43Speaker 3: epics and.
- 2:18:44Speaker 2: Then but you watched all these good show but you
- 2:18:49Speaker 2: have no idea what there's no rules, it's and and
- 2:18:54Speaker 2: so I called my director and saying, hey, I want
- 2:18:58Speaker 2: to make a show that it is about whatever we're doing.
- 2:19:04Speaker 2: And he's like, well, give me an example. I say,
- 2:19:07Speaker 2: watch from Like I've watched all I cannot tell you
- 2:19:12Speaker 2: what this show is about.
- 2:19:15Speaker 1: It's like, I don't do it for people that don't
- 2:19:18Speaker 1: know they want to watch it. It's the people are
- 2:19:20Speaker 1: trapped in this town. They're all the same circumstance. There's
- 2:19:24Speaker 1: a down tree in the road. They can't go further,
- 2:19:27Speaker 1: so they they turn around and they find themselves in
- 2:19:29Speaker 1: a loop that keeps leading them through the over and
- 2:19:32Speaker 1: over and over and over again, and no one in
- 2:19:34Speaker 1: the town can escape. And at nighttime monsters come out
- 2:19:37Speaker 1: and they look like people. They look like a mailman,
- 2:19:40Speaker 1: they look.
- 2:19:40Speaker 2: Very scary ass Milkman's like that milkman is insane, that.
- 2:19:46Speaker 1: That old lady that knocks in the window. Terrifying, terrifying show.
- 2:19:51Speaker 1: It gives me anxiety. And I know it's all fake.
- 2:19:54Speaker 2: It's it's like it's a crazy show. Yeah, and season
- 2:20:01Speaker 2: four is even more bizarre, like everything that I be thinking.
- 2:20:07Speaker 2: I was like, yo, I think this is what it is,
- 2:20:09Speaker 2: and then it don't. It doesn't be that. But then
- 2:20:11Speaker 2: it had come and like see and but I'm like
- 2:20:15Speaker 2: see what? Like what what am I like? I don't
- 2:20:17Speaker 2: know the freak this show is going.
- 2:20:19Speaker 1: They don't know, no one knows where it's going. But
- 2:20:21Speaker 1: it's like Lost. The same people that made Lost made
- 2:20:24Speaker 1: that show. Word that's why it has that same sort
- 2:20:27Speaker 1: of feel crazy. Doesn't make nothing nothing, you can't predict
- 2:20:31Speaker 1: what's going to happen, makes sense and lurid entertaining.
- 2:20:35Speaker 2: Lloyd tickles this ship out. Lloyd is mad about it
- 2:20:38Speaker 2: every god like but it's so it's a crazy it's crazy,
- 2:20:44Speaker 2: but it's very interesting. Like I don't miss it.
- 2:20:47Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, I've been binging it. So I started,
- 2:20:51Speaker 1: I guess me and my wife started about a month
- 2:20:55Speaker 1: ago or so, and we burned through the first three
- 2:20:58Speaker 1: seasons and now to the fourth. Yeah, it's good, and
- 2:21:03Speaker 1: I think the next season's coming out in twenty twenty seven,
- 2:21:05Speaker 1: but I don't only I think the next season is
- 2:21:07Speaker 1: the last season unless they decide to keep it going. Finale,
- 2:21:11Speaker 1: it's the finale.
- 2:21:12Speaker 3: So they just announced that.
- 2:21:13Speaker 1: It's going to be the last season and maybe maybe
- 2:21:16Speaker 1: when that money comes wrong. But the thing about this
- 2:21:18Speaker 1: kind of show is you could do whatever you want, like, yeah,
- 2:21:21Speaker 1: you go back in time, you could do wild shit,
- 2:21:23Speaker 1: like I don't want to give anything away, but there's
- 2:21:25Speaker 1: no rules, there's you can make anything happen.
- 2:21:29Speaker 2: You can make anything.
- 2:21:30Speaker 1: It's a very strange show, but it's very entertaining.
- 2:21:33Speaker 2: Oh man, it's a very entertainment show.
- 2:21:36Speaker 1: Yeah, but if you want to just sit at home
- 2:21:38Speaker 1: and watch shit and not do anything, ma'am, you never
- 2:21:41Speaker 1: picked a better time to be alive. You could waste
- 2:21:45Speaker 1: your whole life just staring at the screen.
- 2:21:48Speaker 2: And like when I ask people, because my palette for
- 2:21:52Speaker 2: what I take in is different than a lot of
- 2:21:55Speaker 2: people you, and I turn people onto a show, like
- 2:21:58Speaker 2: when I turned my boy on the Pinky Blinders.
- 2:22:01Speaker 1: I was like, Yokey Blinders is a great Like.
- 2:22:03Speaker 2: Yo, you gotta watch Pinky. He called me and was like, Yo,
- 2:22:06Speaker 2: this is crazy. And I remember my boy Dlay got
- 2:22:09Speaker 2: so invested in what was the first show, the Motorcycle
- 2:22:13Speaker 2: Show that I turned them onto.
- 2:22:17Speaker 1: I know what you're talking about. I never watched it.
- 2:22:20Speaker 1: What is that show? That Motorcycle Show that everybody liked?
- 2:22:23Speaker 2: You know?
- 2:22:23Speaker 1: I'm talking about chan Sons man.
- 2:22:26Speaker 2: I turned them on The Sons of Anarchy, And it's
- 2:22:28Speaker 2: a person on there that you kind of get invested in.
- 2:22:32Speaker 2: And I remember he called me and said something about him,
- 2:22:35Speaker 2: and I was like, yo, who, Like who what what
- 2:22:38Speaker 2: you say? And I'm putting on my shoes and then
- 2:22:41Speaker 2: I noticed, are you talking about the person on the
- 2:22:45Speaker 2: on Sunday. He said, yeah, that's fucked up what they did.
- 2:22:50Speaker 2: I was like, yo, you you are crazy man. He's like, no,
- 2:22:53Speaker 2: I'm so invested, and like I was like, yo, man,
- 2:22:57Speaker 2: you are a wild person. But you know, so sons
- 2:23:00Speaker 2: of anarchy, pinky blinders. Like I was big on Yellowstone
- 2:23:05Speaker 2: and now the two spinoffs of Yellowstone, Marshalls and the
- 2:23:10Speaker 2: Dutton Ranch. I can't not watch it, like is It's
- 2:23:15Speaker 2: It's some good shows out there, and I just can't
- 2:23:19Speaker 2: watch the typical stuff. I gotta watch something that has
- 2:23:22Speaker 2: a little more to it than what normal people will watch,
- 2:23:29Speaker 2: because I like to see normal people in shows, like
- 2:23:33Speaker 2: something I can relate to the Dutton Ranch, you know,
- 2:23:36Speaker 2: being Texas, this is I don't how ranching is. This
- 2:23:41Speaker 2: is how I always experienced how ranching goes with cows
- 2:23:46Speaker 2: and and how you keep your land and all these
- 2:23:49Speaker 2: different fights that people have over land. I'm like, shit,
- 2:23:53Speaker 2: is pretty interesting.
- 2:23:56Speaker 1: That tailor Sheridan's a friend of mine. This guy made that.
- 2:24:00Speaker 1: He was on here the other day talking about it.
- 2:24:03Speaker 1: But the other show that I love is Land Man,
- 2:24:05Speaker 1: same kind deal. It's all about the oil industry. You
- 2:24:09Speaker 1: just realized, like, oh Jesus, is this how all this works.
- 2:24:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's other things happening in life, and it's way
- 2:24:15Speaker 2: more notorious people than a drug dealing show. This is
- 2:24:21Speaker 2: man crude. Oil is a business, so.
- 2:24:24Speaker 1: It's such a big business. Of course you're going to
- 2:24:26Speaker 1: get devioush.
- 2:24:27Speaker 2: Going and you're gonna get shit happenings to Yeah.
- 2:24:31Speaker 1: The real world of oil must be nuts. It must
- 2:24:34Speaker 1: be nuts. I mean, that's why we're in war right now.
- 2:24:36Speaker 2: And you have to be ruthless, you know, with oil,
- 2:24:41Speaker 2: Like that's a big thing. And I don't understand fake meat,
- 2:24:44Speaker 2: Like why would people be giving somebody fake meat?
- 2:24:48Speaker 1: Because they make money selling fake meat. That's why. I mean,
- 2:24:52Speaker 1: that's that's what a lot of people were trying to push.
- 2:24:55Speaker 1: While they're saying the cows are bad, cow's the methane,
- 2:24:58Speaker 1: the environment. Man, it's bullshit. But all they're doing is
- 2:25:02Speaker 1: trying to someone is pushing this idea that we need
- 2:25:05Speaker 1: to stop eating meat because they're profiting off of us
- 2:25:07Speaker 1: not eating meat. That's what it is. That's all it is.
- 2:25:11Speaker 1: It's not bad for you. It's good for you. You
- 2:25:12Speaker 1: need it. Protein, it's super healthy, one of the best
- 2:25:15Speaker 1: foods in the world for you. There's just a bunch
- 2:25:17Speaker 1: of horseshit out there saying that we need to eat
- 2:25:19Speaker 1: less meat for the environment. Now, we need to figure
- 2:25:23Speaker 1: out how to not pollute, that's for sure. But regenerative
- 2:25:27Speaker 1: farms aren't polluting. You're full shit. It's not true. You know.
- 2:25:30Speaker 1: If you want to say we need to stop doing
- 2:25:32Speaker 1: factory farming, okay, maybe yeah, that's probably a good thing
- 2:25:36Speaker 1: to do. But you need to figure out how to
- 2:25:37Speaker 1: feed all these fucking people. You've developed a system that's
- 2:25:41Speaker 1: entirely reliant on massive amounts of animals moving through. The
- 2:25:44Speaker 1: amount of chickens that people eat in America every day
- 2:25:48Speaker 1: is crazy. It's what is the amount of chickens that
- 2:25:52Speaker 1: get consumed in America every day? Let's guess.
- 2:25:57Speaker 2: Twenty million at least least.
- 2:26:01Speaker 1: I want to say, fifty million, fifty million chickens a day.
- 2:26:04Speaker 1: How many million chickens a day get killed?
- 2:26:06Speaker 5: Oh?
- 2:26:08Speaker 1: Okay, how many do we eat? How many millions of
- 2:26:11Speaker 1: chickens do we eat every day in America?
- 2:26:13Speaker 2: Because I know I can account for three in my.
- 2:26:15Speaker 1: House, twenty two million chickens every day. Son, that's nuts.
- 2:26:23Speaker 1: That is a crazy amount. That's way bigger than the
- 2:26:26Speaker 1: entire residents of Los Angeles. If every person was a chicken,
- 2:26:31Speaker 1: every we eat that amount in this country every day,
- 2:26:34Speaker 1: and I'm crazy.
- 2:26:35Speaker 2: In my home alone. If we roasting chicken and we're
- 2:26:40Speaker 2: going to get a roast chicken, we're gonna get three
- 2:26:42Speaker 2: of them because it's going to I didn't even know
- 2:26:44Speaker 2: that I could eat a whole chicken by myself until
- 2:26:47Speaker 2: I did it. It's like, yo, man, this is this
- 2:26:53Speaker 2: muslim um grocery store. They sell them in there. It's
- 2:26:58Speaker 2: already roasted, and you get two garlic sauces with each chicken.
- 2:27:02Speaker 2: And once you dip a piece of that chicken and
- 2:27:04Speaker 2: they gargic, it's not gonna survive. Like It's like, I've
- 2:27:08Speaker 2: bought three of them because I know if two are
- 2:27:10Speaker 2: going to make it home, I have to eat this
- 2:27:12Speaker 2: one by myself. And they put on a piece of
- 2:27:14Speaker 2: peit of bread. It's already roasted, and it's insane that
- 2:27:19Speaker 2: I would eat a whole chicken by myself.
- 2:27:21Speaker 1: Estimates suggests twenty four to twenty six million chickens are
- 2:27:24Speaker 1: killed every day in the United States for meat. So
- 2:27:28Speaker 1: if you don't want factory farming, you got to figure
- 2:27:32Speaker 1: out a solution where you can get twenty six million
- 2:27:34Speaker 1: chickens a day, or you convince people that need to
- 2:27:37Speaker 1: stop eating meat.
- 2:27:39Speaker 2: But if we look at like say if I'm looking
- 2:27:42Speaker 2: at a show on Game of Throngs or House Dragons,
- 2:27:47Speaker 2: when I would see them sit down to eat, it
- 2:27:50Speaker 2: was a lot of meat on that table. Yeah, very
- 2:27:54Speaker 2: variations of meat. It's a whole thing. I've never seen
- 2:27:57Speaker 2: the Kings sit down. It wasn't a whole entire pig
- 2:28:01Speaker 2: on the table. And then if you most people haven't
- 2:28:06Speaker 2: bought a lamb, and you think that a lamb is enough,
- 2:28:11Speaker 2: it depends on what you on. Who's there if you
- 2:28:15Speaker 2: if we if it's he it and it's after the
- 2:28:18Speaker 2: fast and you put a lamb on a few and
- 2:28:22Speaker 2: all these Muslim families come to your house, that's that's
- 2:28:24Speaker 2: not enough. You need another lamb. You need you need
- 2:28:27Speaker 2: two lambs, like whole lambs. Like it. Man, It's meat
- 2:28:32Speaker 2: is delicious.
- 2:28:34Speaker 1: It's great for you too. Don't let anybody tell you
- 2:28:35Speaker 1: any difference.
- 2:28:36Speaker 2: And they can, but I'm not really listening, like when
- 2:28:39Speaker 2: somebody tell when somebody tell me about a vegan situation,
- 2:28:43Speaker 2: I'll listen to you, but none of it is going
- 2:28:48Speaker 2: And it's like, you know, I say, something comes in
- 2:28:50Speaker 2: one end, go out the other. It's not even going
- 2:28:52Speaker 2: in the ear. It's like it's like I've already made
- 2:28:55Speaker 2: my decision. Like okay, I'll hear you, but I'm not
- 2:28:58Speaker 2: really listening to you. I'm eating the lamb.
- 2:29:01Speaker 3: Go.
- 2:29:02Speaker 1: I mean, life eats life. It's just the factory farming
- 2:29:06Speaker 1: thing is the uncomfortable part. That's the gross part. And
- 2:29:09Speaker 1: if you just were on a ranch, it's natural.
- 2:29:13Speaker 2: You want to get overtaken. Just let the animals just
- 2:29:16Speaker 2: do their thing and see how many see see don't
- 2:29:20Speaker 2: you see a I am legend taught you that, Like yo,
- 2:29:26Speaker 2: how many antlers ran through a play was a stampede?
- 2:29:30Speaker 2: Like it's a so even like with the thing that
- 2:29:33Speaker 2: happens in the ocean sardines, right, so it's mass, All
- 2:29:38Speaker 2: these mass sardines come one spot. Then the whales come first,
- 2:29:43Speaker 2: then the sharks come, and then then we still get sardines.
- 2:29:49Speaker 2: After all these this ecosystem is eating, we still get sardines.
- 2:29:53Speaker 2: It's you're not running out of natural for if you
- 2:29:57Speaker 2: let everything do it do his thing. You know, do
- 2:29:59Speaker 2: you know how many jellyfish it is? Somebody should start
- 2:30:02Speaker 2: eating them and then because that is a crazy jellyfish
- 2:30:06Speaker 2: can mob out like mob out and they can kill you,
- 2:30:10Speaker 2: and they can kill you. Yeah, somebody eat them, something
- 2:30:13Speaker 2: eats them.
- 2:30:14Speaker 1: You can eat them at Chinese restaurants. I've had jellyfish before.
- 2:30:17Speaker 2: Was it good?
- 2:30:17Speaker 1: I don't remember it being good. I don't remember where
- 2:30:20Speaker 1: I ate it, but I remember someone cooked a specific
- 2:30:23Speaker 1: type of jellyfish and I was like, okay, so I
- 2:30:25Speaker 1: didn't even know.
- 2:30:26Speaker 2: You could cook that in Texas.
- 2:30:27Speaker 1: And look, jellyfish are edible.
- 2:30:31Speaker 2: In Texas and Louisiana. The amount of crawfish that we
- 2:30:35Speaker 2: eat in two months, it's literally insane.
- 2:30:39Speaker 1: Imagine they didn't imagine what crawfish would be.
- 2:30:42Speaker 2: Imagine I know I can account for at least fifty
- 2:30:47Speaker 2: pounds by myselfe.
- 2:30:50Speaker 1: How many crawfish there would be. I people weren't eating them.
- 2:30:53Speaker 1: Like when I was a kid. I grew up in Florida.
- 2:30:55Speaker 2: For a while.
- 2:30:56Speaker 1: We lived in Florida in Gainesville, and there was allegace Florida,
- 2:30:59Speaker 1: but they were protect did back then. The alligators were
- 2:31:02Speaker 1: protected like theglades. Well it wasn't the Everglades quite here. Okay,
- 2:31:07Speaker 1: hold on edible jellyfish best known edible species and using
- 2:31:11Speaker 1: Asian cuisine. Oh boy, try to say that word. Rope
- 2:31:15Speaker 1: Belema escalentum, often referred to as the Japanese edible jellyfish.
- 2:31:21Speaker 1: That's a lot easier, or flame jellyfish. Yeah, so there's
- 2:31:25Speaker 1: a few different species of jellyfish. Anyway, my point was
- 2:31:29Speaker 1: when I was a kid, alligators were protected and they
- 2:31:32Speaker 1: were at this lake and you could see them and
- 2:31:34Speaker 1: peop would throw marshballs in the water and the alligators
- 2:31:36Speaker 1: would eat them. And then now there's too many, Like
- 2:31:42Speaker 1: there's so many alligators there now, like they can't get
- 2:31:45Speaker 1: rid of them. They're in every body of water. Everywhere
- 2:31:47Speaker 1: you go, there's alligators. Yeah, the entire everglades filled with alligators,
- 2:31:53Speaker 1: golf courses filled with alligators.
- 2:31:54Speaker 2: I remember when they when they kid got eaten that
- 2:31:59Speaker 2: oh Disney World, and I was like, Yo, that's insanity,
- 2:32:03Speaker 2: because I don't trust a puddle of water in Florida,
- 2:32:08Speaker 2: a puddle, it could be a puddle. I'm like, it's
- 2:32:10Speaker 2: an alligator there. It's like what they removed four hundred some
- 2:32:14Speaker 2: odd alligators from Disney World.
- 2:32:16Speaker 1: Oh, they remove them all the time. They have to
- 2:32:19Speaker 1: check every day to go back there and make sure
- 2:32:21Speaker 1: that there's no alligators.
- 2:32:22Speaker 2: It's like a huge number.
- 2:32:24Speaker 1: It's a huge number.
- 2:32:25Speaker 2: That's like maybe twenty four this year, forty or something
- 2:32:28Speaker 2: this year, but it's four hundred and something in a
- 2:32:31Speaker 2: wild like that's insane.
- 2:32:32Speaker 1: You know, disney World has a bass fishing lake. You
- 2:32:35Speaker 1: can go bass fishing at disney World. There's like a
- 2:32:38Speaker 1: little trip that you take you go there. Four hundred
- 2:32:41Speaker 1: and fourteen alligators removed from disney World since Toddler's death
- 2:32:44Speaker 1: ten years ago. That's a lot of monsters. It's a
- 2:32:49Speaker 1: lot of monsters. Man, they're legit monsters.
- 2:32:53Speaker 2: I remember when I was in Guam. I was in
- 2:32:55Speaker 2: Guam doing the show, and I think the military moved
- 2:32:58Speaker 2: there and it was a bird that they were trying
- 2:33:01Speaker 2: to protect, and so they killed all these snakes. And
- 2:33:05Speaker 2: this is how when you change the ecosystem to something,
- 2:33:07Speaker 2: something happens. So the snakes not only were they eating
- 2:33:12Speaker 2: that bird, but they were eating and controlling the toad population.
- 2:33:18Speaker 2: So when they got rid of the snake, we were
- 2:33:22Speaker 2: coming back from the show and it's like it's literally
- 2:33:27Speaker 2: hundreds of thousands of frogs that come out at night.
- 2:33:33Speaker 2: They everywhere. It's like you just see them flat in
- 2:33:36Speaker 2: the street because you can't not you can't miss them there.
- 2:33:39Speaker 2: It was hundreds of thousands of frogs on Guam and
- 2:33:44Speaker 2: I was like, yo, man, they up everything.
- 2:33:46Speaker 1: They gotta do something, man, people Metal, bring the snake back.
- 2:33:49Speaker 2: Got to bring the snake.
- 2:33:50Speaker 1: Stop. Stop, stop your bullshit people, just metal. I mean,
- 2:33:57Speaker 1: there's so many countries that are infested with animals. The
- 2:34:00Speaker 1: people brought in to kill other animals. You know, like
- 2:34:03Speaker 1: Australia is a giant feral cat problem. They brought in
- 2:34:06Speaker 1: feral cats, I think to kill it. I forget what species.
- 2:34:09Speaker 1: I think it was a toad. They were trying to
- 2:34:11Speaker 1: kill off.
- 2:34:11Speaker 2: My neighborhood as a goddamn cat problem. My neighborhood is
- 2:34:16Speaker 2: like one cat has some babies and my family had
- 2:34:22Speaker 2: something to do with it. We fed, we fed the cat,
- 2:34:24Speaker 2: and then of.
- 2:34:25Speaker 1: Course you want to be nice. Meanwhile, they're killing billions
- 2:34:30Speaker 1: of birds every year in this country.
- 2:34:32Speaker 2: Cats.
- 2:34:33Speaker 1: So I love cats. I love cats too, but they
- 2:34:35Speaker 1: kill billions house cats kill billions of birds and mammals
- 2:34:39Speaker 1: in this country every year.
- 2:34:40Speaker 2: If you don't have a bug problem, if you have
- 2:34:42Speaker 2: a cat in your house, because you know, we had
- 2:34:44Speaker 2: these water bugs. They call them cockroaches. But I've watched
- 2:34:48Speaker 2: it before I left the cat that just outside he
- 2:34:51Speaker 2: was just slapping one around. It's like five of them
- 2:34:53Speaker 2: dead out there. He's just slapping one around, like just
- 2:34:56Speaker 2: toying with him. But I don't mind, because then they
- 2:34:59Speaker 2: never or make it into my house.
- 2:35:02Speaker 3: It's like CATSA I don't know about the four pest
- 2:35:05Speaker 3: campaign that happened in China.
- 2:35:07Speaker 1: What is that? What they do?
- 2:35:09Speaker 3: It explains it to you in this these little for.
- 2:35:10Speaker 1: Under MAO aimed at exterminating rats, flies, mosquitos, and sparrows
- 2:35:14Speaker 1: as a part of the Great Leap Forward. It was
- 2:35:17Speaker 1: framed as a public hygiene and agricultural protection drive meant
- 2:35:20Speaker 1: to reduce disease and protect grain from being eaten or contaminated.
- 2:35:23Speaker 1: Mass mobilization methods included trapping and poisoning rats, swatting flies, mosquitos,
- 2:35:28Speaker 1: and organized efforts to scare and kill sparrows.
- 2:35:33Speaker 3: It's like that, it's before you get to the end here.
- 2:35:35Speaker 3: They had one little problem, so they introduced something else
- 2:35:37Speaker 3: to fix that problem. That created a new problem, so
- 2:35:39Speaker 3: they introduced something else to fix that problem. Yeah, ended
- 2:35:43Speaker 3: here with tens of millions of people dying from a
- 2:35:45Speaker 3: famine because they didn't have the natural ecosystem.
- 2:35:49Speaker 1: So this is crazy. So sparrows were targeted because they
- 2:35:53Speaker 1: ate grain seeds, but they also consume large numbers of
- 2:35:56Speaker 1: crop eating insects. Their near extinction caused an ecoloze imbalance,
- 2:36:00Speaker 1: leading to insect population booms, lower crop yields, and contributing
- 2:36:04Speaker 1: to Chinese famine, the Great Chinese Famine, which tens of
- 2:36:07Speaker 1: millions died.
- 2:36:08Speaker 2: Wow, I have to give something to get something.
- 2:36:10Speaker 1: Yeah, man, you don't think you're smarter than nature, you
- 2:36:14Speaker 1: dumb fuck.
- 2:36:16Speaker 2: You gotta give something to get because there's.
- 2:36:18Speaker 1: A balance out there and we don't totally understand that balance.
- 2:36:21Speaker 2: What's this fish that we have now.
- 2:36:24Speaker 1: Asian carp, the one that's infested all the different lakes,
- 2:36:27Speaker 1: and then the snakehead that's another one.
- 2:36:29Speaker 2: Then that the jont that torpedoes up.
- 2:36:32Speaker 1: So that's the Asian carp. Yeah, they fly through the
- 2:36:34Speaker 1: air when you're in a boat. They just for whatever reason,
- 2:36:36Speaker 1: when you're in a boat, they just try to throw
- 2:36:38Speaker 1: themselves onto the boat. Give me the fuck out of
- 2:36:43Speaker 1: this lake. There's so many of them, and they don't
- 2:36:46Speaker 1: have a natural predator, and they bring them into places
- 2:36:49Speaker 1: sometimes to clean up the algae. And then also now
- 2:36:53Speaker 1: you have a carp problem. Now the carp beat all
- 2:36:55Speaker 1: the algae. They eat everything where it's like your whole
- 2:36:57Speaker 1: lake looks like a swimming pool. There's no algae left.
- 2:37:00Speaker 1: Look at these fucking things. That is crazy. That's the
- 2:37:04Speaker 1: Illinois River. I mean, this is just hundreds of fish
- 2:37:07Speaker 1: just flying through the air everywhere they go. How nuts
- 2:37:11Speaker 1: is that? You ever see people they shoot them with
- 2:37:14Speaker 1: bows and arrows, so they wait from the hop up
- 2:37:16Speaker 1: in the end they try to catch them in the
- 2:37:17Speaker 1: air with a bow and arrow.
- 2:37:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:37:19Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a bunch of people do that. That's a
- 2:37:22Speaker 1: very popular sport.
- 2:37:26Speaker 2: Is this fish edible?
- 2:37:27Speaker 1: I don't know. I've never heard of anybody eat. I
- 2:37:30Speaker 1: know people eat regular carp. I don't know if asian
- 2:37:33Speaker 1: is Asian carp edible? Yep, there you go. It's lean
- 2:37:39Speaker 1: and nutritious favor.
- 2:37:42Speaker 2: So I would just have a net roll them behind me.
- 2:37:45Speaker 1: And filet of fish. There you go. Don't you guys
- 2:37:47Speaker 1: need product? There you go, get out there with bows
- 2:37:50Speaker 1: and arrows and get it done.
- 2:37:52Speaker 2: How many crawlfish does Texas and Louisiana consume in crawfish season.
- 2:37:57Speaker 1: That's a good question. I guess you would have to
- 2:37:59Speaker 1: do it pounds, right? Would you do it in pounds
- 2:38:01Speaker 1: or millions of actual crawfish? Because they they don't measure
- 2:38:05Speaker 1: them in individuals? They wait may buy weight, right, because they're.
- 2:38:09Speaker 2: Kind of they go buy weight.
- 2:38:11Speaker 1: How many pounds of crawfish do you think Texas? Just
- 2:38:14Speaker 1: say Texas and Louisiana in a year? Fifty million?
- 2:38:19Speaker 3: Who I have to ask again, but it did give
- 2:38:22Speaker 3: me ninety percent of the farm crawfish comes from Louisiana.
- 2:38:25Speaker 1: Yeah, wow, how many pounds? Give me the answer? How
- 2:38:31Speaker 1: many pounds?
- 2:38:32Speaker 2: Is? I know?
- 2:38:33Speaker 1: I went way too high? How many pounds does Texas
- 2:38:35Speaker 1: and Louisiana consume in a year? I'm gonna say two
- 2:38:39Speaker 1: million pounds? No, I gotta be really two million pounds
- 2:38:44Speaker 1: a lot. It's fucking way more than that. What is it?
- 2:38:48Speaker 1: What is it?
- 2:38:49Speaker 3: Seventy percent of the consumed amount is eaten in Louisiana
- 2:38:53Speaker 3: and the total is upwards of one hundred and fifty
- 2:38:56Speaker 3: million pounds Yeah, one hundred twenty to one hundred and
- 2:39:00Speaker 3: fifty million annually.
- 2:39:02Speaker 1: Whoa, yeah, justin Louisiana, which.
- 2:39:06Speaker 3: Is almost one hundred million pounds of that is just
- 2:39:08Speaker 3: in Louisiana.
- 2:39:10Speaker 2: Not crae between crawfish boils and crawfi fa. That is delicious. Hey,
- 2:39:18Speaker 2: that's delicious.
- 2:39:19Speaker 3: That is a crazy This doesn't have a number, just
- 2:39:22Speaker 3: just tens of millions.
- 2:39:23Speaker 1: All we needed. We've got the Louisiana thought to be
- 2:39:28Speaker 1: to double with the whole country like.
- 2:39:30Speaker 2: Crazy, Like Maryland actually thinks that they are big on
- 2:39:35Speaker 2: cry out and we and we just be shaking our
- 2:39:37Speaker 2: head like okay, it's no. I think we shipped crab
- 2:39:44Speaker 2: to them, like the Chesapeake Bay cannot outdo the Gulf
- 2:39:48Speaker 2: of Mexico.
- 2:39:49Speaker 1: No, we Golf of America now, by the way.
- 2:39:52Speaker 2: It is we we still we still Yeah. I don't
- 2:39:57Speaker 2: think Mexico agreed, Oh they do either, Like, no, you
- 2:40:02Speaker 2: know it's not the Gulf of America. We like, we're
- 2:40:06Speaker 2: not saying it. That's hilarious.
- 2:40:10Speaker 1: Hey, brother, it's great talk to you again as always,
- 2:40:13Speaker 1: so much fun. Man, very good to do. Thank you
