- 0:00This is show twelve for me. This is my guest, mister King Ambition.
- 0:06Thank you for being a patient as we figure all of this out.
- 0:11No problem, it happens. No problem, delayed but not denied. We're
- 0:14here right right right, So if you don't mind, could you please introduce
- 0:21yourself to the audience. A sure can? I sure can. I am
- 0:26King Ambition of Ambition Fouts Ambition Foules is actually a hip hop band, and
- 0:31I'm the m c our heill from Chicago, Illinois. I reside now in
- 0:38Atlanta, Georgia. I've been here for a while and yeah, just excited
- 0:43to be here, excited to be here. Well, we're glad to have
- 0:46you here. What started your love for music? So, my father has
- 0:58been in a reggae band since actually been since before I was born. It's
- 1:02a band called Gypsy for Reggae band. Okay, So I've been around music
- 1:07all my life. Really didn't have any plans on becoming an artist or an
- 1:17MC or anything until maybe when I turned nineteen, eighteen nineteen. And you
- 1:23know, it just started out with, you know, freestyling with a couple
- 1:26of your buddies in the car. Everybody think they're rapping to be come on
- 1:32and we we rapping during that time, mid West was just booming. Being
- 1:37from Chicago, you know, we had what's to do with die, crucial
- 1:38conflict, common sense, And I would say maybe by the time I was
- 1:46twenty, that's when I actually started recording music and taking it from there.
- 1:52But but I mean, I've just been around it, and I guess I
- 1:53just found my my love for the music as an MC versus as being a
- 2:00musician. My dad is a musician and the singer. Okay, yeah,
- 2:04I was a part of a little local hip hop group here in Spartanburg,
- 2:10South Carolina. It was called Kim Folk. I don't I don't write rhymes,
- 2:16but I had people writing stuff for me. But so I get it.
- 2:23I enjoyed, you know, going places and performing and you know,
- 2:30just being in front of the crowd, no doubt, no doubt, no
- 2:35doubt. What what intrigues you so much about music that it's like something that
- 2:44you just got to do? So when it when it comes to music,
- 2:52I feel that it's a it's a platform for me to inspire and and lead
- 3:00others. I've honestly tried to walk away from music a couple of times and
- 3:04God won't let me so, and I haven't asked them that recently because I
- 3:10know my path like clear state. But I've had my battles to where I've
- 3:16been making money and entertainment blessed to say, oh for a decade, but
- 3:23I do so many other things just being an entrepreneur. The things that I
- 3:29do from the other side just generated more funds, And had I not been
- 3:34allocating so much time to my music career, I could have been putting time
- 3:38into those other businesses. So I would say as I as I got deep
- 3:45into prayer and just listening to Him to make sure that this is where I
- 3:49needed to go, he also gave me that clear sight on the lane that
- 3:53I needed to go. So prior to being called Ambition, I used to
- 4:00go by name two Crump, the number two kru and K and I went
- 4:03from two Crump to Ambitions to King Ambition And the name changes comes from me
- 4:10evolving as a person. So some of the things that I would talk about
- 4:14as two Crunk, that's around that timeline. While I was really debating,
- 4:17Okay, it's just really what I'm supposed to be doing so and not that
- 4:21I was talking about nothing bad. It's just I spoke about where I was
- 4:26at that point in life in my early twenties in Atlanta. You know what
- 4:29I'm saying, Just just kicking in and being on the ground, like that's
- 4:31what was in my music. So it just evolving. And as my music
- 4:38changed, I would say maybe like maybe around like twenty ten, when I
- 4:43changed the productions that I use, when I stopped trying to chase hits and
- 4:46just actually writing about my life being transparent in my music, I noticed that
- 4:50I got it. I got different type of fans. I would do a
- 4:54show and people would tell me, oh, man, this song I listened
- 4:59to it every day, or this song got me through, got me through
- 5:03this moment or that moment. And what you what you learned as an artist.
- 5:08And that's why I always encourage most artists to be their self. Because
- 5:11the gift of music, if that's truly your gift, it's not here for
- 5:15you, It's for other people. So think about how music gets you through
- 5:18life every day. So the best way to create music to inspy your others
- 5:27is to be you. That Don't get me wrong, you got some people
- 5:29that write hits. Me personally, I can honestly say that that's not my
- 5:34forte. That's not what I do. I just write reality rap that that
- 5:40sound dope. But when I say you got people that write hits, like
- 5:43when you just got some certain producers that can't miss, certain artists that just
- 5:46can't miss. Like, try to name how many hits to Drake got,
- 5:50Try to name how many hits future gat Like that's a that's a whole different
- 5:55talent, that's a whole different lane. And earlier in my career I thought
- 5:59I had have a hit to be somebody. Like now I'm just gonna create
- 6:01the music that's on my heart and do it dope in a way that I
- 6:05think it's dope, my producers think it's dope, and I ain't gonna lie.
- 6:09It's been. It's been. It's been good ever since. Okay,
- 6:13most writers are poets. Do you write poetry as well? I don't.
- 6:23But what's what's funny is my my rhymes could actually be poetry. Okay.
- 6:31So when I say that, like, I got some stuff that I've been
- 6:33working on with my keyboard player's name is Marcus Davis, and we had some
- 6:39things that we actually recorded when we were rehearsing and it's just me spending my
- 6:44rhymes over over keyboard to do an acoustic set. So it's one of those
- 6:49things. So like I've been trying to see how I can putting my music
- 6:56in different lanes, Like how can you make hip hop fit in a coffee
- 6:59shop? Right? You know what I'm saying. Youboually want to say a
- 7:01coffee shop as somebody on an acoustic guitar and he's singing this, yeah neo,
- 7:08so something knowing that, But the way I compose every song that I
- 7:13write, it's a story and there's a reason for it, and it has
- 7:18it has a possibility. It's such a you want some shape form of fashion.
- 7:21So it's the same thing with poetry. Like anytime somebody is doing some
- 7:25form of poetry, there's a story to it from beginning to end. My
- 7:29songs are the same thing. So like when I'm writing, if I'm writing
- 7:33about a day from eight am to eight pm, I'm gonna split that up
- 7:41in four hours. The first verse you're getting four hours, the second verse
- 7:44you're gonna get what happened in this four hours. In the last verse,
- 7:46you're going to figure out how to day close. So I'm I'm not offended
- 7:51or you know what I'm saying or what you mean, I'm not I'm not
- 7:56offended by that question. Like I actually think it could be poetry from just
- 8:01from my lyrics, Like someone could read my lyrics in a sense of a
- 8:05poetry. What sets you apart from the Tis, the Drakes, the Gucci,
- 8:11Mains and people of that nature. I wouldn't say I'm any different from
- 8:22them. Like the people that you name, I'm just like them, Okay.
- 8:28And this is what I mean by that when you say, when you
- 8:31say Gucci, he don't sound like nobody else. When you say t I,
- 8:35he don't sound like nobody else, say Drake, he don't sound like
- 8:37nobody else. They're homed in on their individuality. And that's when you have
- 8:45longevity and anything that you put in, because now you got a niche that
- 8:48they have to come to you for. So for me, I do get
- 8:54comparisons, and some of the comparisons I get, I don't hear it,
- 8:58but I can't tell a person how they hear music, right. But most
- 9:01importantly for me, what separates me is the production that I picked my show,
- 9:07and I'm always true to me. So like I don't have any competition.
- 9:11I come along to be the best version of meat. So like prime
- 9:16example, I remember the first time I heard Drake best I've had. You
- 9:20Remember that was his first single. You know when I said, you know
- 9:24what I said when I heard that song for the first time, that I
- 9:28said, this dude for to be here for a while. Yeah, it
- 9:31was a breath of fresh air. He didn't sound like nobody. It was
- 9:35either gonna hit or miss. Where were at? Right? Are you signed
- 9:43to a label or are you independent? Independent? I've always been independent.
- 9:48I've always funded myself. I've always bought my own equipment. I've always bought
- 9:56my own music equipment. We can pull up and do a show, light,
- 10:00sound, everything. So the And when I say that, I'm not
- 10:05saying that to brag or sell everybody that independent is the route. I stay
- 10:13independent because that's what I choose. I want ownership. I want to move
- 10:18how I want to move. If I want to wear a red hat today,
- 10:20I don't need nobody telling me I need to wear a black hat,
- 10:24or I don't even wear a hat at all, Like sometimes I want to
- 10:26wear a hat, Like I got a closet full of hats, So It's
- 10:28like, I just like having control of what I'm doing now. Am I
- 10:33open to partnerships and business ships, business business ventures, Yes i am,
- 10:39but like as far as ever just completely signing a deal. I got too
- 10:43much invested, and I've the money that I've generated in the streams that I've
- 10:48generated. I've done it on my own, So it would never be me
- 10:52signing. It would always be a partnership and they would have to show me
- 10:56to where. Okay, if you partner with me, you're here, right
- 11:01here, this is where you're at. I can take you right here,
- 11:03and we're gonna do it in this amount of time, and if it goes
- 11:07good, we can re up again. So I don't want to say that
- 11:09I'm independent, and I'm just I'm gonna stay independent forever. I'm a business
- 11:13man. It just gotta make sense. So just to have a little fun
- 11:18with this conversation, Oh tell me who you're top five hip hop artists are
- 11:33Daniel Alive. My gold is Tupac mhmm. Let me see. Then after
- 11:41that, I'm not gonna say, uh, I'm not gonna say two through
- 11:45five in any order, right, but my gold is Tupoc. I listened
- 11:52to Nipsey every day, Okay, every day Holly influenced by Nipsey Hustle,
- 12:00the greatest lyricist for all time. You ain't gonna be ready for this.
- 12:03I hope you've heard of him, but this cat out of Stone Mountain,
- 12:07Georgia. He goes by side how to Prince. I haven't, but I'm
- 12:11sure my husband has. Oh man, if your husband the hip hop hed
- 12:15sat Man, Yeah, yeah, he's the truth. He's he's depending behind
- 12:20so many people. Okay, yeah, a lot of people, and I
- 12:28gotta see season last two. It's tough because I got I got so many
- 12:35I'm inspired by so many, so many people and so many different people footprint.
- 12:41I tell you who else. I got a heavy rotation right now,
- 12:46I'm gonna say nahs. Okay, the whole King's Disease, one, two,
- 12:50and three. When you heard one, I was like, oh,
- 12:52man, he took me back to the nineties. Then when you heard then
- 12:56you heard too, oh he can't out do this. It's you know what
- 13:00I'm saying. Then you heard three, it's like, come on, dude,
- 13:03like, how how you still able to produce like produce work like this?
- 13:07Right? Yeah? And number five, jeez, can I do a
- 13:18two way time on number five way time? And at the top of that
- 13:26time, I'm gonna put Biggie and on back half of that part, back
- 13:30half of that time, I'm gonna put jay Z. And that's just because
- 13:35I think jay Z is Biggie. Biggie and jay Z are two of the
- 13:39greatest storytellers to ever do it right, and I just wish we would have
- 13:45had more of a catalog, you know what I'm saying from from Biggie because
- 13:48the way the way that man just put his words together, you know what
- 13:54I'm saying like it was effortlessly right, and that's why we still listen to
- 13:58his music. Anybody has done it like him. Yeah, but yeah,
- 14:01I will put I will put them up on Top five Okay, Top five
- 14:07female. Ooh ooh uh you might not be ready for this list season.
- 14:20Okay, all right? So, uh, Golden it out just for legacy
- 14:28and error and laying the foundation. Well she ain't really she put it on
- 14:33the bigger platform. I can't say she laid the foundation. But my gold
- 14:37is Little Kim. I love Little Kim, Yeah, little him. Yeah,
- 14:41she She's my goat. From there, I gotta go. I gotta
- 14:46go NICKI Nah, who else I want to put in there? Sound like
- 14:54wise who just held it down and we tend to forget about her number three?
- 15:00Yea, I gotta go Queen Latifa right right piece and held it down
- 15:05with the dudes in the nineties hip hop. Yeah, you know what I'm
- 15:07saying. And then I gotta put Missy Elliott in it. Absolutely, I
- 15:16gotta put Missy Elliott in it. And some people probably gonna be mad at
- 15:24me because I'm gonna put her and my number five slot even though her career
- 15:28is maybe only about five maybe about five years long. I feel like,
- 15:35uh, this pimpcy daughter and we just don't know about it or they ain't
- 15:39telling listen, you know what I'm saying. But I love Megan the Stallion.
- 15:43Yo, she talked talk love it, you know what I'm saying.
- 15:46Like just her whole style. She don't sound like nobody, She didn't come
- 15:50out trying to make songs like nobody, and she couldrap. So for me,
- 15:56it was always as far as females salt and pepper. Oh yeah,
- 16:04you love them. Queen Latifa, m Lauren Hill, Cool, Little Kim,
- 16:15Foxy Brown, Megan No Stallion and my guilty pleasure is Cardi bash now
- 16:29as far as men for me, Eric being rock him okay hhmm Tupac M
- 16:45Biggie LLL around the Rock, the Bells, Era and jay Z and honorable
- 16:56mention Little Wayne, Oh yeah best. I love Mathew Man okay, okay,
- 17:10no doubt, no doubt. Yeah. Oh but oh he put Buster
- 17:14now now right and I gotta I gotta agree with the treat put treats on
- 17:17on Buster. So in my opinion, no, no MC and hype Man
- 17:26has ever been greater than Buster Rhymes, right right? I give you this,
- 17:34Okay, but I do want to throw in because I have to eminem
- 17:41he wanted the coldest white boys out there and I loved it. Dude,
- 17:45Yeah, love m m m D. He didn't definitely did this thing.
- 17:51He didn't did this thing. Do you gain any what am I? What's
- 17:59the I'm looking for? Do you hear other genres of music and get inspired
- 18:06by that? To right? You're right? I am mostly inspired by R
- 18:15and B and seventies fun Okay, just because who inspires you? R and
- 18:21B? So many geez, because I mean weekend like I still listen to
- 18:34like a lot of Marvin Gaye, a lot of Al Green, a lot
- 18:38of Osley, even even on the newer side, Like, I still listen
- 18:45to a lot of independent artists. You ever heard of Eric Robinson? Yes,
- 18:52okay, Yeah, he's my favorite independent artists. Okay, I've just
- 18:55been playing his lane and touring for probably almost two decades now. Just amazing
- 19:02show, amazing energy, great production, great lyrics. Who else inspires me
- 19:07to write? Yeah, it's like I mean, just going through unless Yeah,
- 19:18a lot of it is just a lot of a lot of seventies funcs
- 19:21is because of the musicianship and a lot of times. What I do like
- 19:27about why I like being inspired by R and B is because there's no rapping
- 19:33on it, so I can hear the melodie that they're on and I can
- 19:37come up with my own cadence versus itself I'm listening to another rapper and trying
- 19:41to wrap. I gotta kind of block out their caden so I can come
- 19:45up with my own style, and then I still gotta have something reproduced to
- 19:48come in and put it down. So that's why I like. For the
- 19:52most part, I'm usually listening to instrumental instrumentals that producers have already sent me
- 19:56with something that hit me while I'm listening to R and B, because I
- 19:59just hear another melody in my head. Have you connected with anybody that's already
- 20:03signed. I wouldn't say that's already signed, but I have worked with quite
- 20:15a few people that have been in the industry. So like the biggest producer
- 20:22I've ever worked with, his Atovin. Okay, that relationship came from us
- 20:26being in the same church. My pastor hooked this up together. Oh yeahs
- 20:32Atovin is the humblest dude you will ever meet in the industry. There's not
- 20:37a fake bone in his body. He don't care about money. All you
- 20:42care about is his family, being a stand up guy. And you're never
- 20:48gonna hear no dirt on that dude name, you know what I'm saying.
- 20:51So like the opportunities that he gave me early, Like that's how my name
- 20:55actually starts spreading in Atlanta, because at that point he was just known as
- 21:00the you know what I'm saying, the trap guy, producer and Guti,
- 21:03you know what I'm saying, producer. So folks looking at me, like
- 21:07how am I on tracks? Several tracks? You know what? I'm saying
- 21:11with him, but yeah, it was a blessing to be able to work
- 21:14with him at that time. Then a little bit later on in that time,
- 21:18I also worked with this engineer named Seth Ferkin's Rest in Peace that was
- 21:23actually futures engineer before he passed. So Seth kind of taught me how hee
- 21:32me. He taught me how to develop a sound and how things needed to
- 21:37be recorded, and how I needed to be on top of production. So
- 21:41it's sometimes just working with another artist, sometimes working with the producers and the
- 21:47people behind it. These are the guys that emoes you like. Even even
- 21:52from the standpoint of my showmanship, I thought I was killing shows. I
- 21:56used to go to this fight we had to fight an Atlanta call FA two
- 22:00ninety and this lady named Carolo used to put on showcases out there, and
- 22:06I went out there. You know what I'm saying, I was. I
- 22:07was super cocky, knowing I'm gonna kill it. And it's this guy name
- 22:11Dominique Mitchell, and he's developed everybody from your TLC's on Damn two of my
- 22:19whole performance there like no this word you need to be, this is what
- 22:22you need to do, This is how you need to do X, Y
- 22:26and Z. And even from there, I've been blessed to get jewels from
- 22:30so many people that were in the industry before me to help my show be
- 22:36what it is, to help me become a better artist. So and you
- 22:38know, then there's been some people outside of the industry that don't have big
- 22:42names that have blessed me with information. So I just always try to be
- 22:47a sponge and just remain humble because you don't know what type of information or
- 22:52door is gonna be. You know what I'm saying, open up for you.
- 22:56When I've worked with a few more guys in the industry, some guys
- 22:57that are producing for people now that I'm blessed to call my brothers. We've
- 23:02just been brothers for so long and now they're producing for your your Summer Walkers,
- 23:07your Mary J. Blige, and you know what I'm saying, stuff
- 23:08like that. So I got some people that really believe in me and get
- 23:12my back. So we're working on that way to get me back outside.
- 23:15For twenty twenty four. I got some tracks. Okay, So who's your
- 23:19dream collaboration? Okay, so this is crazy, my dream collaborations that never
- 23:32happened. My dream collaborations would have been with Poco, Nipsey, so many
- 23:38other folks. I would just be humble, you know what I'm saying,
- 23:42to get on the track with them, Like I would be humbled to do
- 23:45a track with j Cole or Kendrick Lamar you know what I'm saying, or
- 23:48jay Z or you know what I'm saying, a little Wayne just to or
- 23:52side Hi, you know what I'm saying. Just for them to be so
- 23:56far right doing these things and I'm doing my things so far left and it's
- 24:00just hornting up things where it's just magic. But I do have dream producers
- 24:08that I will work with you Okay, who are they? Drake okay?
- 24:18Uh Tembling and uh and Swiss beats Okay. I would love to do a
- 24:23five song EP with with with those producers, like one with Dre. You
- 24:29know what I'm saying. Then, you know what I'm saying. One with
- 24:30Yeah, but yeah, Like I feel like I feel like they even mastered
- 24:38their sounds. Like to me, I feel like when it comes to drums,
- 24:47when you start talking about drums, I feel like Dre, Swiss and
- 24:55Tim are the king of drums. Like you're just not going out drum now
- 24:59right when you are talking about hip hop like and Swiss energy, we're going
- 25:03to buy songs and swit's doing a hook on all five songs whatever. I
- 25:07go with a writing sixteenths for the right and spoil score and we're going in.
- 25:11It's gonna it's gonna be a rap Drake. For me, it's like
- 25:19sometimes he puts me in a place where I want to go to Jamaica and
- 25:26and just dirty wine and and you know all of that. But then sometimes
- 25:32he puts me in a place of like he's the Keith Sweat of of hip
- 25:40hop almost to me, like it's almost like he dry bagging sometimes and I'm
- 25:44like, brouh, come on, what I mean? That's that's that's the
- 25:48dangerous part. That's the dangerous part of Drake. Like he can do both.
- 25:52He can he can do a song for the ladies and then you know
- 25:56he can he can go bar for bar with you lyrically and slay you.
- 26:00That's why everybody I would love to do a song. You know what I'm
- 26:03saying with Drake. If duver happens, I'm okay with that. But if
- 26:06he gets to the point to where you know what I'm saying, it makes
- 26:07sense. I'm with that, like mostly all the people that I would want
- 26:11to work with its cats, like that they got their own sound or and
- 26:15I don't want to say that, like I'm that open to working with other
- 26:19independent artists. The song just got to make sense. So like for me,
- 26:23sometimes I'll get a I may get a request for collab, but I
- 26:29don't feel like I can be an asset to the track, meaning the subject
- 26:33that you're talking about is irrelevant to me, Like I don't. I don't
- 26:37do that. I don't live that lifestyle. So like I don't when I'm
- 26:41when I'm doing my music, I don't. I don't talk about nothing that
- 26:44I'm that they're not about. Yeah, that I'm not living. I'm from
- 26:47a different era. So yeah, so it just it just has to make
- 26:49sense. But Drake is Yeah, Drake gonna be here forever. He gonna
- 26:53be sixty's still putting out news and cause and we're still gonna be riding to
- 26:57it and it ain't gonna be none you can do about that. You just
- 27:00don't have to be mad. He's still gonna be selling our stadiums. It's
- 27:03right, Get over it. Yeah, yeah, you got a point.
- 27:08So I want to ask you, what what does your definition of hip hop?
- 27:15What does hip hop mean to you? To me, hip hop is
- 27:22just the art of storyteller. And how well did you tell a story?
- 27:26Can't your story keep me in trade? Do I want to did you did
- 27:30you say a line that made me want to wait and hear your next line?
- 27:37Right? Do I like your voice? Do I like your delivery?
- 27:40Do I like the cadusiance that you use? That's all hip hop because I
- 27:44mean, we can all tell a story, but we don't want to listen
- 27:45to everybody sell it, you know what I'm saying. So it's like like
- 27:49certain people their voice, it's just gonna grab you immediately just because of just
- 27:57because of their tone. So like that was one thing about Big although lyrically
- 28:03he was just super dope, you know what I'm saying, just his tone
- 28:06it made you pay attention, you know what I'm saying, Certain people when
- 28:07you hear Jez voices make you pay attention. Gez ain't never been a lyricist
- 28:11and never claim to it, and then you gotta have believability. So even
- 28:18the same thing with so one of my favorite one of my favorite artists,
- 28:23rest in peace, PIMPC. You know what I mean, everything he said
- 28:30that man. I don't know what it was about Pimp C, but that
- 28:37man got into my skin so bad. Like I want to say, it
- 28:45may have been the player's ball anthem where he walks in and he got on
- 28:49this mink, this own white mink, and I'm like, you know,
- 28:56it's about four hundred degrees in Atlanta. How you got on the met But
- 29:00I mean, it's just certain things that he would say, and I'm like,
- 29:04you know, I couldn't. I couldn't get with Pimpcy like that,
- 29:08like now Bunby, Yes, Pimpsy. I couldn't. And I get that.
- 29:17I get that. You know, I'm I'm I'm from the I'm from
- 29:19the Middle West. So we grew up on a lot of a lot of
- 29:22Texas music. And that's just from the connection of twist and do what I
- 29:27used to always be down there, you know what I'm saying back and forth,
- 29:30So we just kind of like paid attention to who they collab with and
- 29:33who they work with, and that's what had us paying attention to you know
- 29:37what I'm saying, U g K. But U g K is ah,
- 29:44I would say, okay, so, and you can tell me yours.
- 29:48But my top three groups uh and hip hop Outcast number one, eight Ball
- 29:55and MJG number two, U GK number three. So for me, Outcast
- 30:03is number one. My husband kind of put me onto a little bit of
- 30:12Woutang so and it's I don't know if they're considered like a group because it's
- 30:19like eighty five of them, and so I think it's just those two cause
- 30:29me personally, I'm more of an R and B person. Okay. I
- 30:34often feel like I was born in the wrong time frame. I was born
- 30:41in seventy nine. All the best music to me was before seventy nine and
- 30:48the nineties. But the Temptations and you know, people of that nature,
- 30:55Marvin Gay, the Supreme that that does my heart good. I like I
- 31:03can sit and listen to that all day. My husband wants to know what
- 31:08part of the Midwest you're from. Oh, man, I'm from Chicago,
- 31:12South Side, born and raised Low Win if you if you know a whole
- 31:18lot about Chicago, but yeah, south side of Chicago. Man, So
- 31:22being that you're from Chicago, I gotta ask, what's your take on this
- 31:27whole R Kelly situation. Oh lord, I so I'll say this. I
- 31:38don't like speaking publicly. You know what I'm saying about people's situation, right,
- 31:48I can own it. I'll say this. If he's guilty, I
- 31:56pray that that man get the help that he needs, right, Because that's
- 32:00a I got a twenty one year old daughter. Okay, yeah, so
- 32:07I don't. I don't see how a man of our age. It's a
- 32:16kid. Like So we just went out, we just went on a family
- 32:20trip and my daughter had one of her friends. You know what I'm saying
- 32:24with her Like, I'm looking at it like, Okay, that's her friend,
- 32:29but that's my daughter while I'm on this trip because we're a long way
- 32:31from home and I'm responsiblutely. So I just I just think that we need
- 32:37to understand that, you know, especially in our community, mental illness is
- 32:43a thing, and we think that it's only other h what's the word.
- 32:51I'm looking for other people that only have issues like this because that's what we
- 33:00see on TV. That's what's painted on TV. Right, and you know
- 33:06it's I think if and that's why I like. That's one thing I do
- 33:08like about social media. There's so much more emphasis on mental health. There's
- 33:15so much more emphasis on speaking with a counselor or a therapist, like it's
- 33:21okay as a black man to to see a therapist, Like I'm open about
- 33:24that. Man, Like when I see people going through something like bro,
- 33:29you're not You're not lame or less of a man because you've had to see
- 33:31a therapist or you've had to talk to somebody like I had to do it
- 33:35last year. It was one of the best moves that you know what I'm
- 33:37saying that I did. So I think the more that we move into that
- 33:44direction and you know, maybe somebody may touch him to help him get some
- 33:47help, because, like I said, if he if he is guilty like
- 33:51this is this is a problem. And even if he's not guilty of what
- 33:55they're what they're doing, even for the fact of the younger women that he
- 34:00has dealt with, even rest in peace, Eliah, Like, in my
- 34:02opinion, there's just no for me, I don't see there's no way I'm
- 34:08attracted to a teenage woman, right, yeah, that's that's that's just the
- 34:15kid to me. So for me, for me, I blame the parents
- 34:21because if you're looking at their age no child that age should be going to
- 34:30any R. Kelly concerts definitely should not be allowed back stage. And you
- 34:37know, there there are mothers who set their daughters up for things of that
- 34:43nature, trying to get you know, money, jewelry or what have you
- 34:50out of these people. And so, you know, if he's guilty,
- 34:53I feel like the parents should be held responsible as well, because you know,
- 34:59one of the young ladies, I can't remember her name, but she
- 35:02was fairly young, and her parents were like they couldn't get her to come
- 35:07home. And I'm like, how do you lose control over your children to
- 35:14a place where they are being treated in a nasty way or what have you?
- 35:23Like, how do you lose your parento mind frame and allow stuff like
- 35:32that to happen? Like my son is twenty eight, my daughter's twenty five.
- 35:39I'm all uping through the business. I don't care how all they get.
- 35:44I mean, I'm gonna. I mean, I was sixteen when I
- 35:47had my son, so I told him from from here to the grave,
- 35:53if we wind up in the same nursing home together, I'm in your business,
- 35:59like you know, But I feel like the parents dropped the ball on
- 36:04those kids A lot of them. But I can't. I can't go much
- 36:10longer. Being that you know, we had a little delay in starting.
- 36:16I need to ask you a favor. Sure, can you hit me with
- 36:21a freestyle before we go? Oh lord, man, I ain't a freestyle
- 36:28on about fifteen years. Let me see, let me see, But I
- 36:37know I can definitely, I can definitely. Uh, I can definitely give
- 36:43you something. Matter of fact. So I got this. Even while we're
- 36:46talking about kids and kids being lost, we in the era where there's just
- 36:52so much bullying going on, so much cyber bullying. Right, So I
- 36:55got this song. I got this on this project. It's called Ambition Fouls.
- 37:00You missed it, Volume one. One of the one of the songs
- 37:05on there, it's called still Fly. Okay. When I speak on still
- 37:12being fly, i'm speaking on for me. I didn't when the Jordan's came
- 37:19out, I got the last year of Jordan's, right, I ain't get
- 37:22the current year of Jordan's that was that was one O nine. I got
- 37:25the last years that was sixty nine or seventy nine. But I was still
- 37:30you know what I'm saying, I was still confident. I was still cool.
- 37:31You know what I'm saying you on of if I just got him off
- 37:34I these are still the same ones from last year. So I've just had
- 37:37so many battles with that and find it myself and my confidence. And that's
- 37:43where you know what I'm saying. I came up with it, but just
- 37:45to spend a little something off of that the first versus like let me see
- 37:53you see I wasn't born with the confidence. School up a trigg and say
- 37:59the girls go for them felt like a fifth will when I rolled with them
- 38:02like a spell under the car house, fosed to win. I ain't have
- 38:06a lot of colors or can I ben? Then I was in my daddy
- 38:08blaze. I had to blaze it. Then used to get my mom's a
- 38:12cord the corn to bending. They onned him turning up that heat because they
- 38:16ain't on the bus deal the sal Man. Oh they love being us three
- 38:22sixty, don't know who to trust. If I can get you up,
- 38:24that's not what you should still love. My mama used to like her,
- 38:28but my friends ain't like her. Shity listen back then she in this sight
- 38:31for my pop shared word but can't share them words. I'm satisfied with my
- 38:35life like the student curves and ain't pull up in the lamb boat, but
- 38:38I'm still fly. I ain't get the Jordans this time, but I'm still
- 38:45fly. No too religious this time, but I'm still fly. I grind
- 38:53high goals for minds and you know they definitely check that out. Man.
- 38:59But yeah, yeah, whatever y'all got going on, man, No,
- 39:01you're good doing you When y'all caught me, y'all guard with that, but
- 39:05you know, yeah, I ain't And normally I say normally, I say
- 39:08no anytime somebody asks me to freestyle. But you know, just when we
- 39:13was talking about it, I was like, you know what, I can't
- 39:15spit that well. I'm humble. I'm humble that you would do that for
