- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty Talking Basketball and they
- 0:09Speaker 1: were a whist, so yes, but what didn't you expect?
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's a podcast called Welcome. Oh that was weak, man.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Can you beat that? Yeah? It's like I beat that?
- 0:25Speaker 1: You ready, all right, let's start the show. That was
- 0:28Speaker 1: weird too. Speaking of which, Eddie has been coaching his
- 0:31Speaker 1: son's nine year old basketball team. M HM didn't end
- 0:34Speaker 1: up very good. Huh, it really didn't. And it's it's
- 0:36Speaker 1: unfortunate because the end of the season was strong, like
- 0:39Speaker 1: we finished like five winning five in a row, and
- 0:42Speaker 1: then we go into the tournament like feeling really really good.
- 0:45Speaker 1: But I don't know, ask Kevin. But when we walked
- 0:47Speaker 1: in there, it was the early game. It was at
- 0:49Speaker 1: nine AM, and I asked all the kids to be
- 0:51Speaker 1: there at eight that way we can run through stuff.
- 0:54Speaker 1: But just from the beginning, they were distracted. They were
- 0:57Speaker 1: tickling each other and like I had a nine Oh, soil'
- 1:00Speaker 1: gonna say they're nine year old? No no, no, no,
- 1:02Speaker 1: no no, that's no excuse. And having a good place coach.
- 1:05Speaker 1: It all goes back to the coach. We'll see. I
- 1:06Speaker 1: had to stop the pregame warm ups and be like
- 1:08Speaker 1: everybody stopped. Why stop? Look at the team we're playing,
- 1:10Speaker 1: and they were on the other side of the court,
- 1:11Speaker 1: and they're all they're doing their drills man like lay
- 1:13Speaker 1: ups and doing like, you know, jump stops and stuff,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and I go, do you see any of those guys
- 1:17Speaker 1: tickling one another? Do you see them like we're rubbing
- 1:21Speaker 1: their hair on their heads? No? Exactly, And that's why
- 1:24Speaker 1: they're going to win if we don't start getting our
- 1:26Speaker 1: act together. Is that a culture issue? And who sets
- 1:29Speaker 1: the culture? Why are you always on their side? I'm
- 1:31Speaker 1: not on their side. I'm just so that's not an
- 1:33Speaker 1: excuse that your kids are acting out if you're the
- 1:36Speaker 1: coach of the kids. Kevin and I we talked every
- 1:39Speaker 1: practice like why don't they listen to us? Like they
- 1:42Speaker 1: we cannot grab their attention. It's like even Kevin has
- 1:45Speaker 1: to be like, guys listen to coach, look at him,
- 1:48Speaker 1: listen to them because they don't listen. What's the problem, Kevin. Yeah,
- 1:51Speaker 1: that's a huge factor is you watch these other teams
- 1:53Speaker 1: and you're like, these kids are all focused, and I
- 1:56Speaker 1: always ask Eddie. I'm like, Eddie, I don't have a kid.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I don't have a nine year old, So I need
- 1:59Speaker 1: to know where's the line drawn? Like how much can
- 2:02Speaker 1: I yell at these kids? Can I under them? Can
- 2:04Speaker 1: I make him run? Can I make him do push ups?
- 2:06Speaker 1: I don't really know because I don't have any kids.
- 2:08Speaker 1: And he always still didn't know. Dude, just lay into him,
- 2:10Speaker 1: make him. I don't know why I did that, man,
- 2:15Speaker 1: that's weird. Told him so it's Ober. Yeah, we're done.
- 2:19Speaker 1: We're done. And yeah, we didn't do anything in the tournament.
- 2:22Speaker 1: We lost both games. It was tough. And yeah, and
- 2:25Speaker 1: can I say something. I almost got kicked out he did,
- 2:28Speaker 1: and I'm not proud of it. Yeah, dude, I'm not
- 2:31Speaker 1: proud of it. But and me and the ref had
- 2:33Speaker 1: we talked about it afterwards, but I was right what happened, Kevin.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Kevin will have my back. The coaches on the other team.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I talked to him later, they're like, dude, I'm on
- 2:41Speaker 1: your side, but they just this ref was just loud
- 2:45Speaker 1: and like violation red team nut, We're going that way.
- 2:49Speaker 1: He's just yelling the whole time. But he wouldn't call anything.
- 2:51Speaker 1: He was just call like laying violations, but he wouldn't
- 2:54Speaker 1: call reaching ins. He wouldn't call travel. He wouldn't call anything,
- 2:57Speaker 1: and finally he called one and I said, ref, you
- 3:00Speaker 1: could have done that ten times ago, and he blows
- 3:03Speaker 1: his whistle. He looks at me and goes, warning, technical
- 3:08Speaker 1: if you get one more year out of here, and
- 3:10Speaker 1: I'm like, so you gotta tech, that's all you said.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I was like, all I said was you could have
- 3:13Speaker 1: called this, or you gotta tech or you gotta warning.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I got I got a warning. But he literally said
- 3:17Speaker 1: you're out of here one more time, but you need
- 3:20Speaker 1: two techs to be kicked out, not according to this guy,
- 3:22Speaker 1: Not according to this guy. So anyway, I literally sat
- 3:25Speaker 1: down and ask Kevin. I was like fine, I sat
- 3:27Speaker 1: down and he kept yelling at me and being like
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm doing my job. Let me do my job, you
- 3:32Speaker 1: do your job. And I was like, I'm not saying anything.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I'm sitting down, and then Kevin chimes in this awesome yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 1: He came back at Eddie. It was all done for
- 3:41Speaker 1: like twenty seconds. All done. Can Let's keep playing? And
- 3:43Speaker 1: this guy had an ego boost and he was just like,
- 3:45Speaker 1: you know what, you're not allowed to talking like that.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I will talk to you like this all And I said, dude,
- 3:50Speaker 1: we get it. You got the jersey, you got the stripes,
- 3:52Speaker 1: you asserted your dominance. We're moving on. Let's go. And
- 3:55Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, yeah, okay, So I thought we're like what.
- 4:00Speaker 1: But to his point, sometimes you have to deal with
- 4:02Speaker 1: that in life and in nine year old basketball where
- 4:05Speaker 1: somebody comes in that has some authority that maybe it
- 4:08Speaker 1: doesn't feel comfortable to you because they're a douche bag.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean that you can fight it and win.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Sometimes you just have to swallow your pill sure and
- 4:16Speaker 1: find an effective way to communicate with the douche And
- 4:20Speaker 1: it sounds like he didn't do that game. No, we
- 4:23Speaker 1: were already out of it. We're already out of it,
- 4:25Speaker 1: and you set kicked out of an awesome I told
- 4:27Speaker 1: Kevin that. I'm like, well, we had one more game
- 4:28Speaker 1: later with him reffing. But I but I did go
- 4:31Speaker 1: up to him afterwards and I said, hey, Reff, I
- 4:33Speaker 1: just want to apologize. That's that's not you did. I did.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I did. I'm sorry about that. Like, that's not me.
- 4:37Speaker 1: He's like, listen, man, he's thank you for saying that,
- 4:40Speaker 1: but listen, this is my saturday. I coach college. I
- 4:43Speaker 1: reff college basketball I do all sorts of stuff. This
- 4:46Speaker 1: is really just on my spare time that I do this.
- 4:49Speaker 1: So you know, I don't want to hear that from
- 4:51Speaker 1: these coaches or you guys, or the parents or whatever.
- 4:53Speaker 1: And I get it, but listen, let me let me
- 4:55Speaker 1: tell you my point. The kids are really what this
- 4:58Speaker 1: is all about. And if you're doing your job correctly,
- 5:02Speaker 1: the kids aren't going to learn basketball. Like that's all
- 5:05Speaker 1: I was saying. He's like, yeah, I get it, but
- 5:07Speaker 1: I'm not calling anything today. This is kid nine year
- 5:10Speaker 1: old basketball. I'm not calling anything. I'm like, I think
- 5:12Speaker 1: you should. You know, like I think you should, because
- 5:15Speaker 1: how are we going to teach him not to reach in,
- 5:17Speaker 1: not to try? Yeah, I feel you, But it's also
- 5:19Speaker 1: his job to make the rules. I mean, refs will
- 5:21Speaker 1: let teams play in college they will not. They will
- 5:24Speaker 1: enforce hand checking a lot more on a Tuesday than
- 5:27Speaker 1: they will a Saturday. Sure, they'll let So I wanted
- 5:30Speaker 1: to let it be known though it's not about me.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I'm not fighting. No, I feels like it's about you
- 5:35Speaker 1: and you lost. Now, why are you taking the refs?
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm taking the side up. Sometimes you have
- 5:40Speaker 1: to deal with people that you don't like, that you
- 5:42Speaker 1: don't feel are acting in a way that they should.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And it's not always pushback as hard as you can.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Sometimes it's all right, how do I win this with
- 5:51Speaker 1: honey instead of vinegar the crap? That's exactly what he said.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I have talked to him about this now. I have
- 5:57Speaker 1: to deal with people all the time, like in my
- 5:59Speaker 1: professional space, I cannot stand but they have no idea,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and I try to make their lives easy as possible
- 6:04Speaker 1: so I don't have to deal with them. One I
- 6:05Speaker 1: don't want to deal with them. I don't like them.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I want to deal with them, but so I'm gonna
- 6:07Speaker 1: make their life easy. They think we're best friends. I
- 6:09Speaker 1: can't freaking stand them, but I'm not gonna be an
- 6:12Speaker 1: issue and I know I can't push hard. So what
- 6:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna do is I'm gonna help them do their
- 6:15Speaker 1: things so they help me do mine. And yeah, sometimes
- 6:18Speaker 1: it's it's a hard pill to swallow, and you get
- 6:20Speaker 1: a humble yourself to do it. But in the all
- 6:22Speaker 1: I care about is net results, that's it. And my
- 6:25Speaker 1: net result is I'm closer to my goal or I've
- 6:27Speaker 1: finished a to z. If I'm pushing what my pride,
- 6:32Speaker 1: you know, it gets whacked a little bit. Otherwise, Yes,
- 6:36Speaker 1: it's a new thing. Well, we apologize. We were all good.
- 6:40Speaker 1: We talked, and then he officiated the nowon game and
- 6:42Speaker 1: we're we're fine. He also didn't know the rules. He
- 6:45Speaker 1: really didn't. Man, it doesn't matter that, even as it
- 6:47Speaker 1: also can you do this? It also doesn't matter. He's
- 6:49Speaker 1: a freaking ref. It doesn't matter. I bottom donuts. I
- 6:53Speaker 1: do like that. It's good. What did you learn though? Nothing? No,
- 6:56Speaker 1: you did. But if you have a huge problem with
- 6:59Speaker 1: somebody and you can't actually win that fight, it's not
- 7:02Speaker 1: worth it for your ego to get into the fight
- 7:04Speaker 1: if you can't win it, So let's figure out another
- 7:06Speaker 1: way to win it. That's not I don't have an ego.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I never fought about me. You absolutely have an ego
- 7:13Speaker 1: with coaching, and this guy was like stepping in on you.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I was like, just how to do it? And you're like,
- 7:16Speaker 1: well no, no no, no, but he had the each But
- 7:19Speaker 1: but but I agree, there's nothing you can do about it.
- 7:21Speaker 1: There was nothing I can do about it, So why
- 7:23Speaker 1: make it worse, which is what you did? No, I
- 7:25Speaker 1: sat down. I didn't do anything I sat down and
- 7:27Speaker 1: he kept yelling at me. I made it. I was like,
- 7:33Speaker 1: I loved it, though you have my back. I love it. Well.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Sounds like the season was a tale of three seasons.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Real bad, then good, then oh oh forgot we're bad again?
- 7:41Speaker 1: Pretty much yea life? Yeah, yeah, thanks Coleman, that is true.
- 7:47Speaker 1: What basketball games did you go to over the weekend?
- 7:49Speaker 1: I went to let's see on Friday Troy Coastal Carolina.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Then Saturday I had a doubleheader, was in Birmingham for
- 7:55Speaker 1: Samford Furman, and then went up to Western Kentucky to
- 7:59Speaker 1: watch him play. You a be my second time watching
- 8:01Speaker 1: UAB in the same days. Yeah, same, so like a one. Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 1: it was at one o'clock in Birmingham and then it
- 8:07Speaker 1: was a three hour fifty minute drive to the seven
- 8:10Speaker 1: o'clock game at UAB and I got there right at
- 8:12Speaker 1: tip heard a Western conduct referee. It was a little dick, No,
- 8:17Speaker 1: they're out there, man, the same ref And then Sunday
- 8:22Speaker 1: I was at Memphis hosting Cincinnati. Okay, that's that's a
- 8:26Speaker 1: little more big time, absolutely FedEx for him. That was
- 8:29Speaker 1: far and away the nicest arena that I've been in.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Oh do they play at FedEx every game. I don't
- 8:33Speaker 1: know if they do every game, but they did for
- 8:35Speaker 1: that one, and I would guess there was ten K there.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I mean, it was a good showing. Did we try
- 8:39Speaker 1: to get you on that one? Yes and night? I
- 8:42Speaker 1: think Memphis big time US. I don't think they responded.
- 8:44Speaker 1: They've been one of the few if only okay, well
- 8:48Speaker 1: have Curson away? Might we tried and no luck with
- 8:52Speaker 1: them big time. That's so weird because who they ax? Memphis? Who?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Everyone else has been so easy to work with? But yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 1: I think with Penny any Man big time to NBA star,
- 9:04Speaker 1: who's Memphis nothing? A team that flails out every year,
- 9:08Speaker 1: that has all the talent in the world and then
- 9:10Speaker 1: ends up sucking hind teat by the time tournament comes around. Correct?
- 9:13Speaker 1: Think there's something correct And Larry Brown's not there anymore? Right?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Is he an assistant? Still? I don't think no, no, no, no,
- 9:21Speaker 1: like that matters Larry Brown due legends so, but the
- 9:28Speaker 1: other games you had good seats and absolutely Elmont I
- 9:31Speaker 1: guess that was Thursday, but I mean they set me
- 9:33Speaker 1: up directly at half court uab I ended up sliding
- 9:36Speaker 1: in courtside um. It was great, dude, that's crazy. I'm
- 9:41Speaker 1: getting jealous. But it's just so much basketball. Yes, a
- 9:44Speaker 1: ton of sixty three games sixty one days. My regular
- 9:46Speaker 1: season's over, so it'll be conference tournament times. Here. You
- 9:49Speaker 1: did sixty three games in sixty one days, sir, seven
- 9:54Speaker 1: doubleheaders in this five days. And you still know your wife,
- 9:58Speaker 1: right you guys? Yes, I do. Yes, he's not here today.
- 10:01Speaker 1: She'll be back out with me the third Well, what
- 10:03Speaker 1: did you have to say about her experience here on
- 10:05Speaker 1: oh the last week? She loved it. She was a
- 10:08Speaker 1: little surprised. I mean, she wasn't expecting to be a
- 10:11Speaker 1: guest and wasn't expecting to be called on that much.
- 10:13Speaker 1: But I thought she handled this. Yeah, I thought she's awesome. Yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 1: she was great. Eddie told me a funny story because
- 10:18Speaker 1: we were leaving from doing Friday Show, and Eddie, you
- 10:21Speaker 1: were like trying to get Coleman's number. Yeah, because he
- 10:23Speaker 1: was saying he'd be back and come to another basketball
- 10:25Speaker 1: game in Nashville. I said, dude, if you come back
- 10:28Speaker 1: and they do a play, I'll go with you. So here,
- 10:30Speaker 1: put your number in my phone. So I gave him
- 10:33Speaker 1: my phone and he put his number and called himself
- 10:36Speaker 1: that way he can have the number. And then like
- 10:37Speaker 1: thirty minutes later, I get a phone call on my phone.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I pick it up. I'm like hello, and it's called me.
- 10:42Speaker 1: He's like, I got a number. I got a call
- 10:44Speaker 1: from this number. Not sure who this is. I'm like, Coleman,
- 10:47Speaker 1: it's Eddie. You called yourself? How did you forget that
- 10:50Speaker 1: so quick? So what happened was the number that popped
- 10:53Speaker 1: up said I wasn't thinking about the last name, so
- 10:58Speaker 1: I thought it was her calling and I was like, oh,
- 11:01Speaker 1: maybe there's something I missed. Called back. No, Eddie forgot
- 11:05Speaker 1: that I had called his phone calling me. I thought
- 11:07Speaker 1: I had called him from my phone. But bones the
- 11:09Speaker 1: way he called is I got a call from this number?
- 11:15Speaker 1: Did he have business voice on? Like? Oh, for sure?
- 11:18Speaker 1: This is Coleman? Is this Memphis? But now you guys
- 11:24Speaker 1: all good? I guess you never say we're good, Kevin,
- 11:26Speaker 1: how's your weekend, buddy? It was good outside the two losses.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I went golf club searching. As we talked about last week. Okay,
- 11:33Speaker 1: I still this is what I need. I'm gonna say
- 11:35Speaker 1: this on the record because I got a bunch of information.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to help you. Read is here reads
- 11:40Speaker 1: everywhere I go. He's everywhere to me, and so read
- 11:46Speaker 1: shoots pictures and video and edits and it's just a
- 11:50Speaker 1: massive part of what I do daily in all these
- 11:52Speaker 1: different ways. Um so read this is what I need.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it on this. If you can go
- 11:56Speaker 1: into my analytics on my Instagram and get anything that
- 12:00Speaker 1: has a Puma or a Cobra on it and give
- 12:06Speaker 1: me all the analytics on that and put it in
- 12:08Speaker 1: a form, I will send it over to them and
- 12:11Speaker 1: just go I'm supposed to do already. I forgot. Hey,
- 12:15Speaker 1: here's all the analytics. And we even do this video
- 12:16Speaker 1: where my guys talking about finding golf clubs, and I'm
- 12:18Speaker 1: just gonna see if they bite on that that content.
- 12:21Speaker 1: If you're going, I'm looking for golf clubs because I'm
- 12:22Speaker 1: not gonna say, give me some free golf clubs, of course,
- 12:25Speaker 1: because I don't want to run my free golf clubs
- 12:27Speaker 1: and golf stuff that I get. But let me see
- 12:29Speaker 1: if they bite. If they go, oh, if he wants
- 12:31Speaker 1: somebody's on your show, maybe we can help them with
- 12:32Speaker 1: something awesome. But that's all gonna depend on read's ability
- 12:35Speaker 1: to get me this information. Come on, read right, I'm
- 12:37Speaker 1: looking at you. So that's like views and pres just
- 12:40Speaker 1: you know, make it look good. It is what it is.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And some of those videos have hundred thousands of views. Yeah,
- 12:44Speaker 1: so that's what we're gonna do. And I'm just gonna see,
- 12:46Speaker 1: We're gonna put some chum in the water. It's if
- 12:49Speaker 1: anybody when we send them that video, because they do
- 12:52Speaker 1: have it. If you're going, I'm looking for golf clubs
- 12:53Speaker 1: and I'm like, I'm a Cobra guy, We'll see if
- 12:56Speaker 1: they step up. Awesome. Good decision for them, absolutely, Yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 1: of course what you say that. A couple of things.
- 13:08Speaker 1: First of all, that Iowa Michigan State game really one
- 13:13Speaker 1: of the crazy things I've ever seen in my life
- 13:14Speaker 1: in a college basketball game. Did you get to watch
- 13:16Speaker 1: You probably watch it live, Colma. Did you watch it
- 13:19Speaker 1: either the full replay or see the highlights of it.
- 13:22Speaker 1: I gotta see the highlights of it. Saw the shot
- 13:24Speaker 1: to tie the game up. But yeah, coming back from
- 13:26Speaker 1: that definit tenable a minute left, Yeah, unbelievable. And the
- 13:31Speaker 1: thing is Michigan State was making the free throws until
- 13:34Speaker 1: the very last free throw the A'll do is make
- 13:36Speaker 1: it to put it up four, and he missed a
- 13:37Speaker 1: free throw. I mean, it was one of the most
- 13:41Speaker 1: unbelievable games a last minute and half of a college
- 13:44Speaker 1: basketball game as I've ever seen, not just watching the
- 13:46Speaker 1: Arkansas game. We plably pretty good against Albama in Alabama.
- 13:50Speaker 1: We lost by three. I thought, listen, we were up
- 13:51Speaker 1: by eight or so at half. It's tough to go
- 13:56Speaker 1: in there and win, and I was low irritated. We
- 13:57Speaker 1: ended up losing that one. But that Michigan State Iowa
- 14:02Speaker 1: game one of the craziest things I've ever seen. And
- 14:04Speaker 1: so if you haven't seen the highlights of that, go
- 14:06Speaker 1: look at it, because it was ten with maybe even
- 14:08Speaker 1: like fifty seconds left. To relate to that game a
- 14:11Speaker 1: little bit, but to tie it to the small amen majors,
- 14:13Speaker 1: I had a game that I bet on a pick
- 14:15Speaker 1: him Little Rock, so a little close to you by
- 14:17Speaker 1: all right, yes, yeah, playing Lindenwood this game, the winner
- 14:21Speaker 1: gets to keep their season alive go on to the
- 14:23Speaker 1: Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The loser done season over Little Rock.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Up seventeen points with under five minutes to go in
- 14:29Speaker 1: the game, I'm choking it up as a win gets
- 14:32Speaker 1: sent into overtime, they lose them. How do they look? Okay?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Seventeen ya there overtime turnovers three balls, turnovers three. I mean,
- 14:40Speaker 1: it was unbelievable. Lindenwood got red hot, they were at home,
- 14:44Speaker 1: got the momentum, and little Rock choked. So Eddie and I, Oh,
- 14:49Speaker 1: should I text Chess and So if he's right, that'd
- 14:52Speaker 1: be great. Yes, let me get Chess. Chess and Hadley. No,
- 14:58Speaker 1: I know that golfer, right, but I don't know know
- 15:00Speaker 1: him personally. That's what I'm at. We're talking about you
- 15:08Speaker 1: on the sports show I do. Now, are you available
- 15:13Speaker 1: to talk back? Because that would be cool? If not,
- 15:21Speaker 1: no worries last minute for sure. Old music. So Eddie
- 15:30Speaker 1: and I both follow golfer on the PGA tour named
- 15:35Speaker 1: Chess and Hadley. Now, I was at Pebble Beach playing
- 15:40Speaker 1: or in the week of warm up because I didn't
- 15:42Speaker 1: get to play in the tournament because I went to
- 15:43Speaker 1: the Oscars. No, what was it called the Grammys? What music? Yeah?
- 15:47Speaker 1: Music and so but I was just moving in a
- 15:50Speaker 1: crowded room and there was a dude next to me
- 15:53Speaker 1: and a little taller than me. So I was like,
- 15:54Speaker 1: I hate this guy a little taller. Yeah, and then
- 15:57Speaker 1: like a a really like you know, some sheets have
- 16:02Speaker 1: a really high cotton, like a thread count like his vest,
- 16:05Speaker 1: like like his high thread count vest. And I was like,
- 16:09Speaker 1: how's to go a man? He goes, hey, man, what's up.
- 16:11Speaker 1: We're just kind of talking a little bit because we're
- 16:12Speaker 1: just shoved into each other, and he was like, I'm Jason.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I was like cool. It was kind of loud, I said, Eddie,
- 16:18Speaker 1: I met Jason. He goes, his name's Chessen. I said, oh,
- 16:20Speaker 1: I just couldn't hear. I'm trying to whisper in a
- 16:22Speaker 1: loud room. Yeah, it's not Jason, it's Chessen. So Chessen
- 16:27Speaker 1: played at the Honda Classic over the weekend. He's a PG.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I mean, he plays all these tournaments. So I have
- 16:31Speaker 1: him on my ESPN alerts that if he wherever he
- 16:34Speaker 1: is in the tournament, it just shows me him up
- 16:36Speaker 1: there on the grid. And he was like twelfth, eleventh.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I think he got eighth at one point, and so
- 16:44Speaker 1: Eddie hits me up and he goes seven was the highest.
- 16:46Speaker 1: And he goes, let's go, let's bet um our guys.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I was like, oh yeah. I didn't think about betting
- 16:50Speaker 1: my friends who I've met one time, but we texted friends,
- 16:53Speaker 1: and so I even texted him earlier that day before
- 16:55Speaker 1: he said this. I was like, hey, man, it looks
- 16:57Speaker 1: like you're playing great. Congratulations. He's like, yeah, la la la,
- 17:00Speaker 1: And so we bet him and he didn't end up
- 17:02Speaker 1: playing terrible. But I think we didn't win any money
- 17:04Speaker 1: because I bet him to win it, to finish top
- 17:06Speaker 1: five and top ten, and I think he finished like
- 17:08Speaker 1: twenty third or something. Yeah. I think of the highest
- 17:10Speaker 1: I saw him was tied for seventh, which is like,
- 17:12Speaker 1: you know what money made? No, Kevin, can you look
- 17:14Speaker 1: that up to see what money he made this weekend?
- 17:16Speaker 1: I wonder what like whatever he finished twenty third makes
- 17:19Speaker 1: on the Honda Classic. And if he calls, should we
- 17:23Speaker 1: have some guesses where I'm gonna guess one hundred and
- 17:25Speaker 1: forty k is what he made? Man, I have no idea.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna guess M ninety five thousand dollars. It's got
- 17:34Speaker 1: to be more than that, right, it looks like you
- 17:36Speaker 1: finished twenty ninth. Okay, okay, twenty ninth. We don't know anyway.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Do they even make that public yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah,
- 17:43Speaker 1: the purses public. Okay, I found it. What do you got?
- 17:46Speaker 1: Whoever said that forty six grand? I'll take it than
- 17:49Speaker 1: I thought. Let's go. Yes, However, the issue is to
- 17:53Speaker 1: pay back sponsors and stuff. No with those golfers have
- 17:56Speaker 1: to basically pay their You have to pay your own way.
- 17:58Speaker 1: You're you're It's like Andy when he played tennis, Roddick
- 18:02Speaker 1: like he was like, it's hard for players that aren't
- 18:04Speaker 1: in the top thirty even to travel around the world.
- 18:08Speaker 1: You gotta pay for all your fly it's all your hotels.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Like you're just a worker and you go and you'd
- 18:12Speaker 1: get in these tournaments they allow you in. It's not
- 18:14Speaker 1: like they are sending a plane for you. But isn't
- 18:17Speaker 1: that what the patches are for? Like, well, so that's
- 18:18Speaker 1: also how you make money. Give me the patch and
- 18:21Speaker 1: some well depending on what do you say? That's not him?
- 18:29Speaker 1: Did you text the ripers? Yeah, the company just I
- 18:32Speaker 1: don't know. It's a matter I get after the show's over.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You know those people I talk about here you go.
- 18:40Speaker 1: It's like I turned my phone over, I wouldn't see it.
- 18:41Speaker 1: But then I gotta wait and save a chess and
- 18:42Speaker 1: messages me back. But yeah, it costs. But some of
- 18:45Speaker 1: those you get paid based on how good you are,
- 18:48Speaker 1: and then you get paid based on how good you
- 18:50Speaker 1: are at in the tournament. Like you can actually make bonuses,
- 18:52Speaker 1: but you won't make a hole. Let's say you're a
- 18:53Speaker 1: golfer that's ranked eighty third, okay, and you sign a
- 18:58Speaker 1: deal with tied bleach toward on your hat. They're not
- 19:02Speaker 1: gonna pay the eighty third guy a whole bunch of
- 19:04Speaker 1: money up front because you're eighty third. They're gonna give
- 19:06Speaker 1: you a little something. It's gonna help for sure, but
- 19:08Speaker 1: also they're probably gonna have into contract. Hey, if you
- 19:11Speaker 1: make it, you make the cut this, you finish top ten,
- 19:14Speaker 1: because that's just more placement on TV, social media, etc.
- 19:19Speaker 1: So that's tough, yeah, man. And so these tournaments like, yeah,
- 19:22Speaker 1: like one hundred and fifty people playing, like, it's hard
- 19:25Speaker 1: to be eighty third. I hope you didn't know. I
- 19:27Speaker 1: hope Jessen doesn't like, I don't want to be this
- 19:29Speaker 1: guy's friend. He's messaging me to like be interviewed. You
- 19:31Speaker 1: think you're texting him a little too much. Yeah, I
- 19:35Speaker 1: never golf a friend before. It's yea yeah, if you
- 19:38Speaker 1: ask me the truth. Yeah, I mean first text. Let's
- 19:41Speaker 1: just see I read him to you know, shame here
- 19:44Speaker 1: like the transparency. How many times it has he responded
- 19:48Speaker 1: to your texts? Because if it's far, I'll be honest
- 19:51Speaker 1: with the others way more blue, which is me. I know. Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 1: so on third Thursday, because we sent the introductory messages
- 20:04Speaker 1: back on January thirty first, is that when the thing
- 20:07Speaker 1: was Yeah, they're right around there where. I said, hey,
- 20:11Speaker 1: Bobby cool on Thursday at nine twenty am. Because we
- 20:14Speaker 1: haven't texted since then, there was no reason. Well I
- 20:16Speaker 1: wanted a couple too, a couple of times, but I
- 20:17Speaker 1: had to restrain myself. I questions if I didn't, I
- 20:20Speaker 1: didn't do it. I said, hey, man, I hope you're good.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Been following you. Saw you're in Florida this weekend. Oh no,
- 20:26Speaker 1: you're checking his schedule. Yeah, you probably got there on Thursday.
- 20:29Speaker 1: It's really cool. Yeah, I hope you crushed you stay healthy.
- 20:32Speaker 1: It's send a sads pulling for you, Bobby, right cool.
- 20:36Speaker 1: It sounds I want to date him, but whatever, and
- 20:40Speaker 1: then he rides back. Because I sent that at nine
- 20:42Speaker 1: twenty am. He sent this back at twelve thirty pms,
- 20:46Speaker 1: like three and a half hours later. You think he's
- 20:50Speaker 1: been talking to himself and being like he respond to
- 20:52Speaker 1: this guy. Then he wrote, Bobby, what a legend. Thanks
- 20:56Speaker 1: for the context. Yet down here played nicely the day.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I hope you're good, and I've switched from he had
- 21:03Speaker 1: a different radio station to listen to. He said, because
- 21:05Speaker 1: of you said, I'm all in a Bobby Bones thinking
- 21:06Speaker 1: about putting a logo of your face on my clothes.
- 21:10Speaker 1: That's funny. He's flirting back. But yeah, right, And then
- 21:16Speaker 1: I don't know why. I think I meant to send
- 21:17Speaker 1: this to Eddie but it was a screenshot of him
- 21:19Speaker 1: being in the top ten. But I sent it to
- 21:21Speaker 1: him that you sent to him. Yeah, I don't know why,
- 21:25Speaker 1: because it means, like, bro, I know where I'm where
- 21:27Speaker 1: my standings are now that I look at that. There
- 21:31Speaker 1: was no reason for me to do that. You know,
- 21:33Speaker 1: sometimes you text the wrong person because you're talking about him. Yeah,
- 21:36Speaker 1: and you're like, oh god, yes, at least that was that.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And so then I said, hey, we're I said, what
- 21:42Speaker 1: we're an So we're in a eater Tennessee. You're gonna
- 21:43Speaker 1: watch golf all day Opie get him. He goes, let's
- 21:45Speaker 1: go to be a nice walk, is it? And then
- 21:47Speaker 1: I said, yo, dude, we're talking then the thing from today, Yeah,
- 21:50Speaker 1: a little aggressive on my part. And then also I
- 21:54Speaker 1: sent him a screenshot of his own score, which I
- 21:57Speaker 1: meant to send to Eddie. At least it wasn't like
- 21:59Speaker 1: hundredth or something like that. And you said that, you know, Yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 1: was like, hey, check this guy out or yeah you text,
- 22:07Speaker 1: I'm nervous. Top ten. Yeah, I'm moving, You're good. He's
- 22:14Speaker 1: just busy man. Screenshot though. Okay, So and Edie, I
- 22:20Speaker 1: did not win money betting on that. I'm gonna be
- 22:24Speaker 1: filling in for Rich Eyes and on Thursday and Friday
- 22:26Speaker 1: of this week, let's go the Rich Eyes and show,
- 22:27Speaker 1: which I'm very excited about. Rich Eyes and called me
- 22:30Speaker 1: and I called him back, and I was all nervous,
- 22:34Speaker 1: and I was like like, telling, okay, I'm don't put
- 22:39Speaker 1: this up as a video. They could say on the podcast,
- 22:41Speaker 1: I'll put it up a video. I knew he was
- 22:44Speaker 1: gonna call me at like three pm Central and his
- 22:47Speaker 1: flight got delayed or something because he was like, hey, sorry,
- 22:49Speaker 1: I'm just gonna a flight, and I could hear things
- 22:50Speaker 1: around and it was like three to twelve or something
- 22:53Speaker 1: an answer, but I thought he's gonna forget me altogether.
- 22:56Speaker 1: I also didn't know why I was calling. That's freaking
- 22:59Speaker 1: rich eyes and I calling me. That's cool, and so
- 23:02Speaker 1: I answered and I put him on speaker. But after
- 23:04Speaker 1: about ten minutes, I was like, I'll just go ahead
- 23:05Speaker 1: and play my Madden game because my buddy' Steve. And
- 23:07Speaker 1: so I put him on and look at PS five.
- 23:10Speaker 1: You talk to the controller. You don't need a headset.
- 23:12Speaker 1: That's just fine talking to the controller and speakers of
- 23:13Speaker 1: the controller. So I let I'll let Steve here. We
- 23:18Speaker 1: talk to rich Eysen on speaker phone, and he was like,
- 23:21Speaker 1: that's a cool thing I ever heard him. But Richard
- 23:26Speaker 1: was just like, hey man, when you come on, it's
- 23:27Speaker 1: your show. He said, to call the rich Eisen Show.
- 23:29Speaker 1: But don't feel like you have to go buy anything
- 23:31Speaker 1: that we do. He's like, all my guys will be there,
- 23:33Speaker 1: but you do whatever you want to do. I don't
- 23:36Speaker 1: have you know, book anybody you don't want to book book,
- 23:38Speaker 1: We'll try to get whom just was super cool. He's like,
- 23:41Speaker 1: I just want to tell you that with my own mouth,
- 23:43Speaker 1: This is yours. You have two days, do whatever you want.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Like obviously he's at the combine and I'll talk to
- 23:49Speaker 1: him once, I think each day, but otherwise he's like,
- 23:54Speaker 1: do what you want to do. And so they were like, hey,
- 23:56Speaker 1: who do you want a book? And I don't know
- 23:58Speaker 1: who do we book? And so Mike and I were
- 24:00Speaker 1: talking and then we just decided to get selfish and
- 24:01Speaker 1: just people we wanted to meet. Yeah, and that was
- 24:04Speaker 1: the only goals, Like, let's just ask for people we
- 24:06Speaker 1: want to meet, and if they're also on the show, okay, cool,
- 24:09Speaker 1: but we don't know who we're getting. But I selfishly,
- 24:13Speaker 1: So I went on Craig Kilburne's podcast like six months ago.
- 24:16Speaker 1: So I messaged him, was like, hey, you want to
- 24:18Speaker 1: come beat my guest and person on Isaac yea, I'll
- 24:20Speaker 1: be there. So it's coming in Thursday. That's awesome. Like
- 24:22Speaker 1: Craig Kilburn's always like this is super cool, awesome, and
- 24:25Speaker 1: like I felt like he was gonna say yeah if
- 24:27Speaker 1: he could, but right Mike, he was just on he's
- 24:29Speaker 1: just in right easy. Yeah, that's and he lives out there,
- 24:32Speaker 1: so it's just a you know, a few minute drive
- 24:34Speaker 1: and so Mike, I said, Mike, whoever you want, just
- 24:37Speaker 1: to request him. And now these are long shots. But
- 24:39Speaker 1: Mike requested Michael B. Jordan and if he's around, right,
- 24:45Speaker 1: you may not be around. I requested Pedro Pascal that whatever,
- 24:50Speaker 1: the guy from the Last of Us, the main Guyan.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I never watch that show. That guy's cool. My wife
- 24:56Speaker 1: says he's so funny on social media. Yeah he's so,
- 25:00Speaker 1: I requested him. We've requested some other but we just
- 25:05Speaker 1: got a bit selfish with our So you're just like,
- 25:06Speaker 1: we're in Hollywood, let's just go for everyone. Yeah. Then
- 25:09Speaker 1: I was like Baker Mayfield said, because I don't know
- 25:13Speaker 1: what the rams working out, I don't know. Yeah, so
- 25:15Speaker 1: if we heard back about any of them yet, they
- 25:17Speaker 1: reached out about Baker Mayfield, Okay, let's go. There's in Friday.
- 25:22Speaker 1: They said, Michael B. Jordan is a long shot, and Pedro, yeah, good,
- 25:25Speaker 1: I didn't hear. No, you know that's right. So I'll
- 25:31Speaker 1: be on Thursday and Friday, and I'm super pumped about that.
- 25:34Speaker 1: The end on that little situation. Let's go to the
- 25:37Speaker 1: chess in hot line. Still no no text. Okay, Matt Ryan,
- 25:42Speaker 1: where should he go? Because we talked about Aaron Rodgers.
- 25:47Speaker 1: He's going somewhere. We talk about Aaron Rodgers, we talk
- 25:50Speaker 1: about the domino that if he ends up going to
- 25:53Speaker 1: the Jets. Where does that put car? What does Lamar do?
- 25:56Speaker 1: What does we can go down? All that that? Everybody's
- 25:58Speaker 1: talking about the quarterbacks in the draft also, But if
- 26:02Speaker 1: you were Matt Ryan, where would you go? Right? That
- 26:06Speaker 1: doesn't mean you can go? You know what I demand
- 26:07Speaker 1: to start for the Chiefs. You can't. You're Matt Ryan.
- 26:10Speaker 1: You have to talk realistically. If you're Matt Ryan, where
- 26:14Speaker 1: do you go? Take fifteen seconds to think about that, Coleman.
- 26:21Speaker 1: If you're Matt Ryan, where do you go? Lay quarterback?
- 26:23Speaker 1: Ideal world the Jets? But because I believe in their
- 26:27Speaker 1: young talent, they killed the draft this last year. Um
- 26:31Speaker 1: So in an ideal world, if I'm Matt Ryan, I'd
- 26:33Speaker 1: like to go to the Jets, be in New York.
- 26:35Speaker 1: But can he pick where he gets to go? Well?
- 26:38Speaker 1: He done well enough lately to do that. If I'm
- 26:40Speaker 1: Matt Ryan, I'm going to Kansas City as the backup.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Oh I see that? Yeah? They love Chad Henny over
- 26:47Speaker 1: there though he was he was on the airplane with
- 26:50Speaker 1: the trophy going like that, sit him out on top.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Good for him, man, Yeah, so that's not bad. Then
- 26:56Speaker 1: I think I probably go and ring chase a bit
- 27:00Speaker 1: with Kansas City and be a Now I don't know
- 27:02Speaker 1: if he still feels like he can start, and if so,
- 27:05Speaker 1: does he wait around wait for somebody to get hurt. Go.
- 27:09Speaker 1: That's so interesting to go to Kansay just to be
- 27:12Speaker 1: a backup and get that ring and then go. It's
- 27:15Speaker 1: so interested. If mahomes ever goes down to have all
- 27:17Speaker 1: those weapons, have Andy Reid, you can prove yourself and
- 27:20Speaker 1: then maybe you get, you know, a better contract as
- 27:22Speaker 1: it started in the next year. I don't know. He's
- 27:23Speaker 1: one hundred and seven. Then, Kevin, how about this the Niners? Yeah, Shanahan,
- 27:29Speaker 1: that would be my second pick. Go back to Shanahan.
- 27:31Speaker 1: They always get hurt all their quarterbacks well play at
- 27:34Speaker 1: some point the quarterback to get hurt his arm. Yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 1: Purty broad Party, it's so swollen he could even have surgery. Yeah,
- 27:43Speaker 1: so it's even more delayed than the already delay of
- 27:47Speaker 1: having that surgery lay going into next season. So you're
- 27:50Speaker 1: talking about his inflammation is not down. I can remember
- 27:54Speaker 1: a full medical prognosis, but I can't remember the word purty.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Is he following along? Here? Heard it's been along Trey Lance,
- 28:00Speaker 1: who knows what's going on. So excellent place for him
- 28:04Speaker 1: to go because he will probably get to play some
- 28:09Speaker 1: sort and if they need somebody to kind of be
- 28:13Speaker 1: a stop gap for one of those two guys. I
- 28:15Speaker 1: don't know if they're gonna do with that quarterback situation though.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Let's just take everybody being heard out of it. Party,
- 28:19Speaker 1: who's probably not gonna be one hundred percent when the
- 28:21Speaker 1: season starts, which sucks for him, but Party and Trey
- 28:24Speaker 1: Lance will say they're both completely healthy. What would you do?
- 28:29Speaker 1: You gotta go with Lance? I just think so too.
- 28:34Speaker 1: What do you go? Three? Five? Three? I believe they
- 28:37Speaker 1: moved up. I feel like three two, but I wouldn't
- 28:40Speaker 1: wouldn't bet my house on it. But yeah, I think
- 28:42Speaker 1: you have to go with Lance, even though Party played
- 28:44Speaker 1: so well for so long, and Party will be an
- 28:47Speaker 1: extremely attractive trade bait. Oh yeah, you have a lot
- 28:51Speaker 1: of teams that probably trade for him. Where do you
- 28:53Speaker 1: go it? Move up? Where would you go? You've heard
- 28:57Speaker 1: us give our answers, now Tampa Bay to to start?
- 29:03Speaker 1: You think you're starting to start for Tampa Bay. Yes,
- 29:05Speaker 1: fill in for Tom's shoes. You got a lot of
- 29:08Speaker 1: weapons over there. You think they're gonna do you think
- 29:09Speaker 1: they would start? Man, I don't know. You're asking me
- 29:12Speaker 1: to pick I go Tampa. Yeah, but you also are
- 29:14Speaker 1: picking based on reality. They need someone over there. Matt
- 29:19Speaker 1: Ryan's the dude. Let's give it a shot. You think
- 29:24Speaker 1: they would have him coming as the starting quarterback? Yeah? Well,
- 29:26Speaker 1: I mean who else are gonna think get free agent
- 29:30Speaker 1: market draft quarterback? Ye? Trade up bears are gonna trade
- 29:34Speaker 1: the number one pick. I don't see how. They don't
- 29:35Speaker 1: see how and why they wouldn't. Obviously they like old
- 29:38Speaker 1: dudes that were really good back in the day. The
- 29:40Speaker 1: quarterback two in Tampa now, is that the the Florida
- 29:42Speaker 1: back up? He played at Florida? Yeah, Trusk and so
- 29:47Speaker 1: I was listening to them talk about him. They're like, yeah, Truscar, guys,
- 29:50Speaker 1: we're ready for I think they were just saying that
- 29:54Speaker 1: until they can get one. I mean, where's the Garoppolo
- 29:56Speaker 1: gonna go? People forget about Garoppolo. I mean he got hurt,
- 30:01Speaker 1: but he's fine, he'll be good. Well, quarterbacks are all
- 30:05Speaker 1: just like something wrong with them if you played quarterback,
- 30:08Speaker 1: if you're still on the team, if you were on
- 30:09Speaker 1: the team. Everybody got hurt last year. But I thought
- 30:12Speaker 1: that Matt Ryan question was interesting because what would you
- 30:15Speaker 1: do go to a bad team and be a starter,
- 30:17Speaker 1: or go to a really good team and have a
- 30:19Speaker 1: chance to extend your career be an awesome backup? I
- 30:22Speaker 1: win a championship. Yeah, you gotta get that ring? Is
- 30:25Speaker 1: that what they want? They just want that ring at
- 30:27Speaker 1: that age. I guess he was so close to that ring.
- 30:29Speaker 1: When Brady comes back and beats him. I mean, it's
- 30:31Speaker 1: that's the that's the worst. Is it the worst? Come
- 30:35Speaker 1: Super Bowl come back? Oh yeah, pretty bad, man. I
- 30:38Speaker 1: think it was the best, But yeah the worst. Kept
- 30:41Speaker 1: showing the owner is like he'd go down to the
- 30:43Speaker 1: field like, yeah, we got this. What did you guys
- 30:46Speaker 1: see any baseball pitch clock stuff? Um? I did see it,
- 30:50Speaker 1: but I've I've seen that in the minors here like
- 30:53Speaker 1: and I loved it as far as just being a
- 30:55Speaker 1: like a spectator on it. I love the fifteen second clock.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Explain because I saw a game ended because of a
- 31:03Speaker 1: pitch clock, and I watched a few and they listen
- 31:06Speaker 1: I'm not gonna get into a bunch of freaking spring training. Yeah,
- 31:08Speaker 1: let's not do that. No, I mean, even just me personally,
- 31:12Speaker 1: I had too much like college basketball going on. I
- 31:15Speaker 1: was trying to make out my wife is a whole
- 31:16Speaker 1: Thing's a lot of effort right there. Kevin explained the
- 31:19Speaker 1: new rule. So between batters, they have thirty seconds from
- 31:23Speaker 1: when the pitcher gets the ball, battery needs to come
- 31:24Speaker 1: in to get the pitch off, and then between pitches,
- 31:28Speaker 1: if the basses are empty, you have twenty seconds. If
- 31:31Speaker 1: there's a runner on you have fifteen or fifteen seconds
- 31:34Speaker 1: with basses empty, twenty with the runner on base, and
- 31:37Speaker 1: the pitcher must start his motion before the clock stops.
- 31:40Speaker 1: The batter must get in before the eighth second mark.
- 31:43Speaker 1: If he's not in ready to go at the eight
- 31:44Speaker 1: second mark, then he gets to strike. The pitcher will
- 31:48Speaker 1: get a ball called on them, and we saw it
- 31:50Speaker 1: happening in the Red Sox Braves game the other day.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Old people hate this because it's so not what baseball
- 31:57Speaker 1: is about. But if baseball is going to survive, we
- 32:00Speaker 1: got to kill all the old people. Wow. Really, baseball
- 32:04Speaker 1: is my favorite sport. It's the best at it played
- 32:07Speaker 1: the most of it watched. I mean, if the cut
- 32:10Speaker 1: pat one hundred and sixty two games, I probably watched
- 32:11Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty of them. It's almost unwatchable a
- 32:16Speaker 1: whole game. It's almost like something that's just on that
- 32:18Speaker 1: you check back in on, unless it's the playoffs of
- 32:21Speaker 1: the World Series and they gotta do stuff like this.
- 32:24Speaker 1: And yes, it doesn't look like baseball. There's a big
- 32:26Speaker 1: shot clock, But think about every other major sport football,
- 32:28Speaker 1: play clock, basketball, shot clock. Why does baseball have the
- 32:32Speaker 1: liberty to freaking just hold onto the ball and make
- 32:35Speaker 1: us sit there three and a half hours watching a game. So, yes,
- 32:38Speaker 1: it doesn't feel like what is traditionally that baseball feeling
- 32:42Speaker 1: like we're here day at park. If you can't do
- 32:44Speaker 1: that anymore, attention spans are much shorter. So I'm a
- 32:50Speaker 1: big advocate of it. And I think if the clock
- 32:53Speaker 1: runs out, you should just hit the batter. That'd be cool. Yeah.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I saw a video on Twitter today, actually they had
- 33:00Speaker 1: they put up a video of Jose l two hit
- 33:02Speaker 1: in the inside the park home run and a pitcher
- 33:04Speaker 1: in the twenty sixteen n LDS between pitches. Jose ran
- 33:09Speaker 1: seven inside the park home runs before the next pitch.
- 33:12Speaker 1: That means wow, yeah, seven. They showed how long it
- 33:15Speaker 1: would have been before the next pitch, and they used
- 33:17Speaker 1: his inside the park home runs as the metric that
- 33:20Speaker 1: it took seven of them seven. It's baseball has just
- 33:22Speaker 1: gotten too boring because it's like, all right, here we
- 33:25Speaker 1: go pitch them. Well, nothing happened, because most pitches nothing happens,
- 33:30Speaker 1: and it takes a long time in between nothing happening.
- 33:33Speaker 1: So when there's a long time in between nothing happening,
- 33:35Speaker 1: people are gonna get bored. It's very rare. You here,
- 33:37Speaker 1: fifteen or sixteen year old ago, like I love baseball,
- 33:39Speaker 1: I don't want to play baseball. Baseball is the coolest
- 33:41Speaker 1: thing that doesn't happen anymore because it's not because the
- 33:46Speaker 1: traditionalists have made the game so freaking boring, like I
- 33:48Speaker 1: would say made it. They've held it so boring. Look
- 33:51Speaker 1: at basketball, they've short in the shot clock, they put
- 33:54Speaker 1: up at three point line. I mean, you can go
- 33:56Speaker 1: through all the different generations and iterations and they've made
- 34:01Speaker 1: mistakes at times, they've made it better or other, but
- 34:03Speaker 1: they're constantly trying to evolve in making the game more
- 34:06Speaker 1: fun to watch. For the consumer baseball does didn't do that.
- 34:10Speaker 1: They're not doing that because you have traditionalists going, this
- 34:13Speaker 1: is not how baseball should have been. Cand you imagine
- 34:15Speaker 1: we're still playing in freaking leather helmets with no face mask, going, no,
- 34:18Speaker 1: it's same football. I guess you're just a puss. No.
- 34:22Speaker 1: The field goal right in the middle of the end zone. Yeah,
- 34:25Speaker 1: people dying running a slant. Yes, So I know a
- 34:30Speaker 1: lot of people are upset. I was reading it online,
- 34:32Speaker 1: like people upset about the clock? What about pictures? What
- 34:34Speaker 1: do they think about it? Because it's just new for everybody,
- 34:36Speaker 1: so everybody kind of hates it. Yeah, because I mean
- 34:38Speaker 1: with pictures, it's so much tempo, you know, like I
- 34:40Speaker 1: slow down, take that breath. Imagine me a Disney World
- 34:45Speaker 1: than pitch. You know, we talked about culture and how
- 34:47Speaker 1: you don't have it on your basketball team and that's
- 34:49Speaker 1: why you lost. I mean, it's a baseball and their
- 34:52Speaker 1: day to day. As a culture, they go on their
- 34:54Speaker 1: own schedule, They go slower as fast as they want
- 34:56Speaker 1: this picture. They can't do that anymore. It's gonna almost
- 34:59Speaker 1: now be a forced new culture that people have to
- 35:01Speaker 1: adapt to, which is great. There's about four things I
- 35:04Speaker 1: would do with baseball. I agree with you. There would
- 35:06Speaker 1: be I would do football and baseball, and there would
- 35:09Speaker 1: be computerized MP assistance with lasers. Yeah right, Why are
- 35:17Speaker 1: we not there? And why do we pick and choose
- 35:19Speaker 1: what technology we use and don't. We can have ins
- 35:21Speaker 1: to replay with all the cameras, but I don't want
- 35:23Speaker 1: a laser going across tells if they really score. That's
- 35:25Speaker 1: a little bit too much. Now we're already using technology
- 35:27Speaker 1: to better what's the difference. And then whatever they do
- 35:30Speaker 1: in tennis to make that little thing reenact what happened
- 35:33Speaker 1: with that ball is amazing. That's what they need to
- 35:35Speaker 1: do across the same thing with a strike zone, Let's
- 35:38Speaker 1: put a freaking digital strike zone up there. The batter
- 35:42Speaker 1: can't see it, but it's there, and the umps just
- 35:46Speaker 1: there to I don't know, look good with that big
- 35:49Speaker 1: chess plate one called plays that called plays at the play.
- 35:52Speaker 1: We don't need to have a balls and strikes human
- 35:56Speaker 1: because humans error and we have the ability for there
- 35:58Speaker 1: to be no error. But traditionals, h that's how it
- 36:02Speaker 1: used to be. That's what I was trying to tell
- 36:04Speaker 1: my ref am buddy exactly. All right, back to the
- 36:08Speaker 1: Chessing hot Line. Nothing looks like we're at we're out. Okay,
- 36:13Speaker 1: we're gonna go and here Coleman talk to coach Casey
- 36:15Speaker 1: Alexander Belmont. What was this about? Coleman. Yeah, I just uh,
- 36:20Speaker 1: kind of the same interview that I've done with every coach.
- 36:23Speaker 1: I just run through their career, take me through the
- 36:25Speaker 1: beginning your journey, where all you've been, and then ask
- 36:28Speaker 1: them questions about the current team as they approach March Madness.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Every single coach I've interviewed has been incredible. It's been
- 36:34Speaker 1: an amazing experience, a dream for me, honestly. But coach
- 36:37Speaker 1: Alexander specifically, he was he was awesome. There's no need
- 36:41Speaker 1: to edit this part. But we're gonna get work with
- 36:44Speaker 1: Coleman a little bit here too. So now don't set
- 36:49Speaker 1: it up like you know, all of them been the same.
- 36:52Speaker 1: He'd be like, like, this is what I do. It
- 36:55Speaker 1: you're saying the same thing, you like, this is what
- 36:57Speaker 1: I do. I go in we talk about Coleman's like, yeah,
- 37:00Speaker 1: that's the same freaking crop. There's nothing nothing new really
- 37:04Speaker 1: the last one. I mean, just me doing the same
- 37:06Speaker 1: generic like formula. Man. I wouldn't listen to it. Yeah,
- 37:13Speaker 1: so I set up horrible but we're learning right, Yes,
- 37:17Speaker 1: absolutely so, Coleman, what'd you do with coach Casey Alexander
- 37:19Speaker 1: of Belmont? So with coach Alexander, talk with him about
- 37:22Speaker 1: his team season. They're really clicking at the right time.
- 37:25Speaker 1: They just transitioned into the Missouri Valley from the Ohio
- 37:28Speaker 1: Valley Conference. So a difference, I mean, yeah, in like
- 37:31Speaker 1: a competitive play absolutely so the Ohio Valley Conference, it
- 37:34Speaker 1: was pretty much just them in Murray State that ran
- 37:36Speaker 1: it year after year. Now the Missouri Valley gives them
- 37:39Speaker 1: a better chance to get in that large bid. So
- 37:40Speaker 1: if they don't win the conference tournament, that's not the
- 37:43Speaker 1: case this year, but in the future that's the goal.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Um and Belmont has was expected to not do great
- 37:49Speaker 1: in that transition, given a tougher level of competition, and
- 37:53Speaker 1: they've done exceptionally well. Have a chance to win the
- 37:55Speaker 1: championship this weekend in Saint Louis. Oh, that'd be cool.
- 38:00Speaker 1: They're local too. Yeah. Here, Yeah, that's why Coleman's here.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Here's coach Casey Alexander of Belmont was Coleman coach? I
- 38:06Speaker 1: wanted to ask you if you played here a great
- 38:08Speaker 1: player here when Belmont was back in then AIA. What's
- 38:12Speaker 1: it like to be coaching your former alma mater. Yeah, well,
- 38:15Speaker 1: first of all, a great player is quite a stretch.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I was not a great player. I was a good
- 38:19Speaker 1: player on some great teams. But it is kind of
- 38:23Speaker 1: you know, it's pretty amazing how I got works in
- 38:25Speaker 1: my opinion. You know, here I am almost thirty years later,
- 38:28Speaker 1: I guess thirty years later as the head coach. I
- 38:30Speaker 1: was an assistant coach for sixteen years after I played,
- 38:33Speaker 1: and then I left for eight years. So to be
- 38:35Speaker 1: back now as the head coach, this in our fourth season,
- 38:37Speaker 1: that's been awesome. To take it even further back, you
- 38:40Speaker 1: get your first head coaching job at Stetson? What was
- 38:43Speaker 1: that like sixteen years as an assistant if I've got
- 38:46Speaker 1: that right, What was that like getting your first head
- 38:49Speaker 1: coaching job at the visual ranks? Well, it was a signing,
- 38:52Speaker 1: but it was also a challenge. You know, Belmont is
- 38:53Speaker 1: all that I knew. I mean, I had played for
- 38:55Speaker 1: coach Byrd and that's the only person I've ever worked for,
- 38:58Speaker 1: So I had very little experience side of my Belmont experience,
- 39:01Speaker 1: which thankfully was good, and then our teams were good.
- 39:04Speaker 1: So at least I have that in my back pocket.
- 39:06Speaker 1: But you know, you go to a new state, you
- 39:08Speaker 1: move your family, and you take on a new challenge,
- 39:11Speaker 1: and you know, largely I assumed it would be the same,
- 39:14Speaker 1: just different, but it was really just different. There there
- 39:17Speaker 1: were a lot of challenges that you know that we
- 39:19Speaker 1: encountered those first couple of years. I grew up a
- 39:21Speaker 1: lot as a coach, as a person, as a man,
- 39:24Speaker 1: and so, um, even though it had some challenges, I mean,
- 39:28Speaker 1: it was probably the most you know, the most influential
- 39:30Speaker 1: two years of my life that I wouldn't trade for anything.
- 39:34Speaker 1: What was it like that transition? You stay in the
- 39:36Speaker 1: same conference but then come back to your original college
- 39:39Speaker 1: city being the head coach at Lipscombe. Yeah, well, and
- 39:42Speaker 1: Belmont was in the same league when I went to Stetson,
- 39:44Speaker 1: so I was as Belmont and Stetson then Lipscombe, all
- 39:47Speaker 1: three of those teams in the A Sun, which is
- 39:48Speaker 1: pretty unusual. Uh, you know, and when I left on,
- 39:51Speaker 1: I never thought that I would be returning to Nashville
- 39:54Speaker 1: to coach. I mean, it just doesn't work that way
- 39:56Speaker 1: very often. Um, So I was very fortunate to be
- 40:00Speaker 1: at a place in Lipscomb that I knew very well.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I knew a lot of people there. I grew up
- 40:04Speaker 1: with a lot of people that were at Lipscomb very
- 40:06Speaker 1: familiar for obvious reasons, and so that part was really seamless,
- 40:11Speaker 1: you know. I mean, the job was still the job,
- 40:12Speaker 1: and I had a new team with new players and
- 40:14Speaker 1: a lot to cover them. But it was really a
- 40:17Speaker 1: great time for me, an exciting time and a great
- 40:19Speaker 1: six years. I loved my time at liscoom. Take me
- 40:22Speaker 1: through the emotions of winning a conference tournament championship and
- 40:25Speaker 1: you punch your first ever bid to the NCAA Tournament
- 40:28Speaker 1: in twenty eighteen. What was that like? Yeah, well it
- 40:30Speaker 1: was the first for Lipscomb at the time, you know,
- 40:32Speaker 1: and it was it was done in an impressive fashion.
- 40:35Speaker 1: We go to Florida Gulf Coast. It was phenomenal that year,
- 40:37Speaker 1: and we had we were almost almost thirty points at halftime,
- 40:40Speaker 1: so it was we surprised a lot of people. We
- 40:42Speaker 1: had to hang on by the skin of our teeth
- 40:44Speaker 1: to survive the game. But you know, it was awesome
- 40:47Speaker 1: to see those kids get that experience. I mean, that's
- 40:49Speaker 1: ultimately in college basketball and had is the pinnacle and
- 40:52Speaker 1: what everybody wants to do is play in the nc
- 40:53Speaker 1: Double A Tournament. And so it was a really rewarding
- 40:56Speaker 1: experience for those guys, a great opportunity for Lipschoom and
- 41:00Speaker 1: of a you know, a memory you will certainly never forget. Conversely,
- 41:03Speaker 1: taking me through the lows of losing in that conference
- 41:06Speaker 1: tournament final to Liberty in twenty nineteen, but then somehow
- 41:09Speaker 1: getting your guys to rally win fourth straight and get
- 41:12Speaker 1: to the finals for a chance to play to win
- 41:14Speaker 1: an n it T championship in medicine. Yeah, really the
- 41:17Speaker 1: lowest of lows and the highest of highs. I mean,
- 41:19Speaker 1: you know we uh that twenty nineteen was a team
- 41:22Speaker 1: was better than the twenty eight team that went to uh,
- 41:24Speaker 1: you know, they went to the NCAA Tournament. So, you know,
- 41:27Speaker 1: to lose in that championship game, I can't I don't
- 41:29Speaker 1: know if it's overtime or not, but I know it
- 41:30Speaker 1: was down to the wire and uh and and to
- 41:33Speaker 1: a really good Liberty team. We were all pretty devastated,
- 41:35Speaker 1: you know that we didn't get over the hump and
- 41:37Speaker 1: go back to back and so you know, the next
- 41:39Speaker 1: best option was the n I T. And you know,
- 41:41Speaker 1: and and truthfully, nobody's ever excited about playing in ANT
- 41:45Speaker 1: because it means you not an inca tournament. But we
- 41:48Speaker 1: went our first game at Davidson, who's a private program,
- 41:51Speaker 1: and uh, and then we kind of go on from there. Uh,
- 41:54Speaker 1: you know, beat NSE State at Ansey State for the
- 41:56Speaker 1: chance to go to New York City. And then we
- 41:58Speaker 1: went our first game in New York City. It's which
- 42:00Speaker 1: to State lose to Texas in the finals. And so
- 42:03Speaker 1: to think about thousands upon thousands of Lipscomb people at
- 42:06Speaker 1: the time in New York SI, in New York City
- 42:08Speaker 1: is celebrating their team, you know, on national TV, which
- 42:12Speaker 1: at that time, you know, you had the final four
- 42:14Speaker 1: teams that were left in those final two in the
- 42:17Speaker 1: n i T. So we were playing pretty late into
- 42:18Speaker 1: the season, which awesome. Yeah, that's neat. What about in
- 42:22Speaker 1: twenty twenty, your first year coaching at Belmont again your
- 42:25Speaker 1: alma mater, You win the conference tournament by one point
- 42:29Speaker 1: and then a week later have your season canceled due
- 42:31Speaker 1: to COVID. Take me through those emotions. Yeah, another crazy year,
- 42:35Speaker 1: you know, and we didn't get off to the start
- 42:36Speaker 1: that season that we wanted to. I think at one
- 42:38Speaker 1: point maybe we were six and four in the conference,
- 42:40Speaker 1: and then we won our next ten to win the
- 42:42Speaker 1: regular season outright, And then and then we have the
- 42:45Speaker 1: virtual buzzer Beater game and the championship against our arrival
- 42:48Speaker 1: Murray State to go to the nc DOUABA tournament. And
- 42:50Speaker 1: so I'm a real storybook ending right there. And you know,
- 42:53Speaker 1: we can remember being at that tournament talking about COVID,
- 42:57Speaker 1: not knowing what COVID was, and you know, and really
- 43:00Speaker 1: down playing it like, oh, well, I mean that's kind
- 43:02Speaker 1: of crazy, but I never know what's going to happen.
- 43:04Speaker 1: And then you know, that was a Saturday. We took Sunday, Monday,
- 43:07Speaker 1: and Tuesday off, came back on Wednesday, and that's today
- 43:10Speaker 1: the NBA shut down and the next day was the
- 43:12Speaker 1: day the nc DOUABA tournament was canceled. And so it
- 43:15Speaker 1: was devastating for our players. But we're really grateful that
- 43:18Speaker 1: we had the experience of our conference tournament, the championship
- 43:21Speaker 1: game that we won, and we knew we had earned
- 43:24Speaker 1: our way into the NC DOUABA Tournament. A lot of
- 43:26Speaker 1: leagues and conferences out there didn't get that opportunity, so
- 43:29Speaker 1: absolutely glad that we did. Absolutely great, great way to
- 43:32Speaker 1: look at it. Transitioning into the present year, what was
- 43:35Speaker 1: it like, you know, going from Ohio Valley Conference, which
- 43:38Speaker 1: was pretty much a two horse race you'd have the
- 43:40Speaker 1: occasional third team of more headed Austin p to then
- 43:43Speaker 1: transitioning to a big time step up, a big time
- 43:46Speaker 1: mid major in the Missouri Valley. What were your expectations
- 43:49Speaker 1: in that transition? Well, there were a lot of unknowns.
- 43:52Speaker 1: You know, we lose five fifth year seniors and you know,
- 43:55Speaker 1: small conference guys and you know, all time record holders,
- 43:59Speaker 1: so the time diving was bad. And then we lose
- 44:01Speaker 1: two out of our three returning players to transfer, which
- 44:04Speaker 1: was a very unusual scenario for US, so seven out
- 44:06Speaker 1: of our top eight from last year gone. And the
- 44:09Speaker 1: decision to move to the Missouri Valley, although we talked
- 44:12Speaker 1: about it and I knew that it was possible, you know,
- 44:14Speaker 1: it was really a situation where it's like, hey, bang,
- 44:18Speaker 1: you're in the Missouri Valley. You know, there's no preparation
- 44:20Speaker 1: for it. So we took what we had and where
- 44:23Speaker 1: we were, and you know, and all of a sudden,
- 44:24Speaker 1: we're in the Missouri Valley, which is a much deeper conference,
- 44:27Speaker 1: a much more competitive conference from top to bottom, and
- 44:31Speaker 1: so there was a lot of questions, you know, But
- 44:32Speaker 1: here we are, you know, several months later, and on
- 44:35Speaker 1: one hand, we've at least survived. Absolutely, we thrived at times,
- 44:39Speaker 1: you know, we were we were in or tied for
- 44:42Speaker 1: first place for the better part of the conference season.
- 44:44Speaker 1: We haven't finished like we wanted to, but it's been
- 44:46Speaker 1: an awesome experience. You know, We've got a long way
- 44:48Speaker 1: to go. We've got to continue to get better to
- 44:50Speaker 1: be as successful in the Missouri Valley as we were
- 44:53Speaker 1: in the obec or in the a Sun. But Bellmont
- 44:56Speaker 1: gives us a great opportunity to do that. We've got
- 44:58Speaker 1: everything we need here to win games to end the
- 45:00Speaker 1: right way. How critical a role has been Shepherd played
- 45:04Speaker 1: being the only guy returning the average more than three
- 45:06Speaker 1: points a game last year, in helping develop the newcomers
- 45:11Speaker 1: and establish what we do here at Belmont and your
- 45:14Speaker 1: culture year identity. Yeah, we have to have been a
- 45:17Speaker 1: lot of credit for any success that this team has had.
- 45:20Speaker 1: You know, he had plenty of opportunities to go elsewhere.
- 45:23Speaker 1: There were a lot of people calling unfortunately illegally, but
- 45:27Speaker 1: he chose to stay because none might have given him
- 45:29Speaker 1: a great experience, and he knew that this was a
- 45:32Speaker 1: great place for him to finish out of his career.
- 45:33Speaker 1: So in hindsight, it's really awesome to see him kind
- 45:36Speaker 1: of reap the benefits that he wanted. You know, he
- 45:40Speaker 1: wanted to be an All conference player, he wanted to
- 45:42Speaker 1: be talked about as a Conference Player of the Year candidate,
- 45:44Speaker 1: and he's certainly accomplished those things and we've got some
- 45:47Speaker 1: team goals still out there for us. But but Ben's
- 45:50Speaker 1: been awesome from beginning to end. I mean, he has
- 45:51Speaker 1: been very consistent, the model of consistency, efficient a leader,
- 45:57Speaker 1: and really has just performed at a high level and
- 45:59Speaker 1: continue us to get better. That's the best part about
- 46:01Speaker 1: Ben is from day one on campus until tonight, Senior
- 46:04Speaker 1: nineties continues to get better and the best is yet
- 46:06Speaker 1: to come. Despite all that you lost from transitioning from
- 46:10Speaker 1: last season into this year, you guys still just two
- 46:12Speaker 1: games back of first place through eighteen games in the
- 46:15Speaker 1: Missouri Valley. What type of confidence does having swept a
- 46:18Speaker 1: team like a Bradley Who's type first in the standings
- 46:21Speaker 1: give you a team going into Arch Madness Day. Yeah,
- 46:24Speaker 1: you know, I think that that's I told you we
- 46:27Speaker 1: had a lot of questions. You know, I've answered questions,
- 46:30Speaker 1: but a lot of those have now been answered. You know,
- 46:32Speaker 1: we would much prefer to be regular season champions and
- 46:35Speaker 1: going in as the number one seed. But I do
- 46:38Speaker 1: think that our team knows it can be anybody in
- 46:41Speaker 1: the tournament, you know, and we'll have to play well.
- 46:43Speaker 1: It's an unbelievable three or four days, you know, and
- 46:47Speaker 1: you can't go in there and just win the accident.
- 46:49Speaker 1: But at least we know we can play with the
- 46:52Speaker 1: best teams in this league. And you know, that gives
- 46:54Speaker 1: yourself a chance, which is really all you need when
- 46:56Speaker 1: you're doing X. Well, you've got a chance to punch
- 47:00Speaker 1: your bid to go to the NCAA tournament. What is that? Yeah,
- 47:02Speaker 1: score scoring the ball and you've got from the three
- 47:04Speaker 1: point line. I mean that's kind of who we've always been,
- 47:07Speaker 1: you know. And I hate to minimize how important I
- 47:10Speaker 1: think the rest of the game is, or how effective
- 47:13Speaker 1: I think we are at the rest of the game.
- 47:15Speaker 1: I think we're good enough defensively. I think we've got
- 47:17Speaker 1: the right mentality for all things but we are always
- 47:20Speaker 1: at our best when we are playing really well offensively.
- 47:24Speaker 1: It's fun to watch, it's fun to play, and shots
- 47:27Speaker 1: are typically going in. I've got two more questions for you, coach.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Two of your four leading scores being freshmen. How impressed
- 47:35Speaker 1: have you been, I guess by the maturity level? And
- 47:37Speaker 1: then how much does that excite you for your program
- 47:40Speaker 1: building going forward in the future years. Yeah, Jacoby gillest
- 47:42Speaker 1: Be and Kay Tyson since day one. You know, you
- 47:46Speaker 1: always have high expectations for your freshman when they come in.
- 47:50Speaker 1: You don't sign them unless you think they're going to
- 47:51Speaker 1: be really good, you know. But it doesn't work out
- 47:53Speaker 1: that way for everybody, and certainly not at an immediate level.
- 47:58Speaker 1: But both of those guys, to Jacoby had some things
- 48:00Speaker 1: thrust upon him because our starting point guard Kishan Davidson
- 48:04Speaker 1: was out the first six games, so he was accelerated
- 48:06Speaker 1: into the mix, probably more than you would have been.
- 48:08Speaker 1: But he took the bull bottle horns and he's been great,
- 48:11Speaker 1: you know, from start to finish and has never really
- 48:13Speaker 1: looked like a freshman out there. And then Kay Tyson,
- 48:16Speaker 1: who is um guys. The guy came in the first
- 48:19Speaker 1: week in the summer as a true freshman, and you
- 48:21Speaker 1: could tell how serious he was about the game, how
- 48:24Speaker 1: important it is, how competitive he is, just how much
- 48:26Speaker 1: it matters. And I've said several times he has earned
- 48:29Speaker 1: his success, and that's something to be said for anybody.
- 48:34Speaker 1: That's awesome. That's awesome. Last question, coach, as someone that's
- 48:37Speaker 1: been a head coach in three different leagues, how do
- 48:41Speaker 1: you like the conference tournament set up to a son?
- 48:44Speaker 1: Does the home court advantage for the higher seeds? OBC,
- 48:47Speaker 1: you've got a double by situation Missouri Valley pretty much standard.
- 48:51Speaker 1: How the standings are. Yeah, it's um, you know, I
- 48:54Speaker 1: think it's all relevant to where you are. You know,
- 48:56Speaker 1: I think everybody would prefer a neutral site tournament with
- 49:00Speaker 1: a lot of fanfare and excitement is the truest way
- 49:03Speaker 1: probably that you know, to make it fair. That's what
- 49:06Speaker 1: you're looking for. But but all conferences can't really pull
- 49:09Speaker 1: that off. You know, the ASUN is so widespread a
- 49:13Speaker 1: a neutral sight tournament in that league makes it really
- 49:16Speaker 1: tough to have the environment that the kids deserve, especially
- 49:19Speaker 1: in the championship level game. And so I think the
- 49:22Speaker 1: way that they do it is very appropriate, and I
- 49:24Speaker 1: think the very value. I mean, it's tournaments been thirty
- 49:27Speaker 1: something years running in Saint Louis and and gets great
- 49:30Speaker 1: fan participation and schools across this league or you know,
- 49:34Speaker 1: pour into Saint Louis for that tournament. So it'll be
- 49:36Speaker 1: it'll be the experience that our guys need. Ultimately, you
- 49:39Speaker 1: want the players to have a great experience, and so
- 49:40Speaker 1: whatever gives them the best chance is the way you go. Absolutely,
- 49:44Speaker 1: thank you so much Coach Alexander for your time. Wishing
- 49:46Speaker 1: you and the Bruins best of luck the rest of
- 49:48Speaker 1: the way. You bet, thank you all right, thanks to
- 49:50Speaker 1: coach Bears. Bruins they are they are bearers. Yeah, they're
- 49:58Speaker 1: just bruining bears like UCLA. I guess I've just seen
- 50:01Speaker 1: a bear on the billboards. Yeah. Any they have a chance,
- 50:05Speaker 1: Yeah they do. The top six teams could all win
- 50:08Speaker 1: in the Missouri Valley. Okay, let's say if they win
- 50:10Speaker 1: the Missouri Valley, what would they go in as a twelve?
- 50:14Speaker 1: Probably thirteen, fourteen and thirteen probably who's one of these
- 50:19Speaker 1: teams you've seen that will go on as a twelve thirteen?
- 50:22Speaker 1: But you know, if they win their tournament and they
- 50:24Speaker 1: get in, they're going to be undervalue, but they have
- 50:27Speaker 1: size athleticism. Like, who is that team that we're passing
- 50:31Speaker 1: over right now because of their name? There's several for me,
- 50:35Speaker 1: but the most the team that I've seen that i'd
- 50:37Speaker 1: pick that at description the most is Marshall. Marshall has
- 50:41Speaker 1: NBA talent on the court in Tavion Kinsey. Andy Taylor
- 50:45Speaker 1: is another. They have two guards that average over twenty
- 50:47Speaker 1: points a game. It's a terrific duo and offensively they
- 50:51Speaker 1: can absolutely click and just outscore even in Power six
- 50:54Speaker 1: team And no chance they get in if they don't
- 50:55Speaker 1: win the tournament, right correct? Any of these any of
- 50:58Speaker 1: these schals from these majors, can any of them get
- 51:01Speaker 1: in if they don't win the tournament. The only one
- 51:04Speaker 1: that I've seen that has a chance, and it's an
- 51:06Speaker 1: outside shot, is Charleston out of the Colonial Conference. They
- 51:09Speaker 1: had a great non conference year. I think only three
- 51:11Speaker 1: losses on the season. But yeah, screw Memphis anything. I
- 51:16Speaker 1: just want to screw Memphis. Memphis will be able to
- 51:18Speaker 1: get in UM if they lose, and then Houston as well.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Screw Memphis, Houston obviously. Yeah, Okay, nice shot there, there's Coleman.
- 51:25Speaker 1: You can give you give out your name sharp shots
- 51:29Speaker 1: select on TikTok and Twitter. That's where you can follow
- 51:32Speaker 1: me and I post all my content of these games,
- 51:34Speaker 1: I mean for the next two weeks. Shot select Why
- 51:37Speaker 1: is that your name? Originally it was a bracketology and
- 51:40Speaker 1: gambling picks Twitter and I like a literation. I thought
- 51:44Speaker 1: it sounded good when I was a junior in college.
- 51:48Speaker 1: You can change it, yeah, I guess I can now.
- 51:50Speaker 1: I mean, now I'll be the time to you know't
- 51:52Speaker 1: have to. But it's like I'm always looking on like
- 51:54Speaker 1: at cool Am, oh man, there's nobody there. I think
- 51:57Speaker 1: it's like Shooter boy. It just I don't know, man,
- 52:03Speaker 1: It's like he needed all three to match, right who
- 52:06Speaker 1: you know, like Coleman's sack. I don't know if I'm kidding, yeah,
- 52:19Speaker 1: but it's like sharp, I don't know, I don't know.
- 52:20Speaker 1: We gotta we need like a makeover with Coleman. Yeah,
- 52:23Speaker 1: make um Okay, So a couple things day went off
- 52:26Speaker 1: for seventy one. They were dumping stuff on him after
- 52:29Speaker 1: the game last night. Is pretty cool. Seventy one points.
- 52:32Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's that's also pass. That's also someone
- 52:38Speaker 1: who's then the team starts to work together to make
- 52:40Speaker 1: sure he can break seventy. Like there was a point
- 52:42Speaker 1: in the game where it was, all right, we're about
- 52:44Speaker 1: to get him. First of all, it was gonna be sixty,
- 52:46Speaker 1: and then like, let's get him seventy. So number eight
- 52:49Speaker 1: all time ties Donovan Mitchell for the most points in
- 52:52Speaker 1: the game this season when Donov Mitchell in Cleveland went
- 52:54Speaker 1: for I mean the fact that they're calling for seventy
- 52:56Speaker 1: one points. Imagine if it took the shot clock to
- 52:59Speaker 1: like fifteen, the amount of points we'd see in the NBA. Yeah, hey,
- 53:03Speaker 1: baseball is doing it. Why can't they follow along? Yeah, yeah,
- 53:05Speaker 1: let's speed it up a little bit. Lillard went thirteen
- 53:08Speaker 1: for twenty two from three. Think about that, thirteen for
- 53:12Speaker 1: twenty six would be fifty percent. He went thirteen for
- 53:15Speaker 1: twenty two, so that's pretty awesome. The Blazer are still
- 53:19Speaker 1: eleventh in the West, so you gotta be tenth to
- 53:21Speaker 1: get one of the play in spots. So but I
- 53:25Speaker 1: was looking at the West, like the Lakers. By the way,
- 53:28Speaker 1: there's like three or four teens. I think the Lakers
- 53:30Speaker 1: like thirteen and a half out overall right now, but
- 53:34Speaker 1: maybe like eleven and that they're close. There's like four
- 53:38Speaker 1: or five teams the Lakers like three games out of
- 53:40Speaker 1: like the sixth spot, which is crazy, and Lebron's like,
- 53:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna play. These next set of games are most
- 53:45Speaker 1: important in my career. I saw eighty hit that clutch
- 53:47Speaker 1: shot at the end to win the game. Lebron is
- 53:50Speaker 1: limping out of after the game hurt, So I don't
- 53:54Speaker 1: know what that means as of right now. He heard
- 53:55Speaker 1: a pop, is what he was saying when he went down.
- 53:58Speaker 1: That's not good, right. He's also him and Matt Ryan.
- 54:02Speaker 1: You know, well, I watched like the first, you know,
- 54:05Speaker 1: quarter of the game, and I thought like, hey, you know,
- 54:07Speaker 1: like Kyrie and Luca are playing pretty well together, like
- 54:11Speaker 1: they weren't a lot of ball hobble. And then I
- 54:13Speaker 1: just couldn't go back and check the score. I'm like, what, Yeah,
- 54:15Speaker 1: they blew up crazy? Uh. In basketball Over the weekend,
- 54:19Speaker 1: Houston one Alabama beat Arkansas by three. But it's tough.
- 54:23Speaker 1: We're starting to click and be pretty good. Yeah, man,
- 54:25Speaker 1: we got Nick Smith back. We're gonna go into the
- 54:28Speaker 1: tournament hopefully as like a seven, eight, nine, ten. And
- 54:33Speaker 1: it isn't gonna be fun for whomever gets even if
- 54:36Speaker 1: we lose, you want that team to be bad, and
- 54:41Speaker 1: we're not going to be that bad. So it was good.
- 54:44Speaker 1: They're gonna We're gonna play Tennessee on Tuesday, Arkansas, and
- 54:47Speaker 1: then I'm gonna try to go to the Kentucky game Saturday. Nice. Nice,
- 54:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna try. If you want to go Saturday, I think, so,
- 54:53Speaker 1: let me let me make the call, let me well, yeah,
- 54:55Speaker 1: i'll but you know how it works. I gotta wait
- 54:57Speaker 1: for the right time, I know, but not even officially.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Maybe you can go ahead and see, okay, and then
- 55:02Speaker 1: if we go, we've you're already sit in place. Love it? Okay? Um,
- 55:07Speaker 1: Kansas beat West Virginia, but West Virginia played pretty well.
- 55:10Speaker 1: They went back and forth the whole game. Kansa only
- 55:13Speaker 1: won by two. UCLA Bea Colorado. Finally saw my first
- 55:16Speaker 1: UCLA game. You did. Yeah, they only scored sixty points.
- 55:19Speaker 1: They really didn't play it that well, honestly. Yeah. Again,
- 55:22Speaker 1: I didn't watch. I was flipping and I watched like
- 55:25Speaker 1: three minutes of that game straight, and I don't think
- 55:27Speaker 1: it was like baseball watching baseball. There's nothing happening. Uh,
- 55:31Speaker 1: let's see Indiana beat Perdue with good win for Indiana,
- 55:35Speaker 1: there was a no oh the North Carolina win. Who
- 55:37Speaker 1: was shocked by that they had? Yeah, they'd be in
- 55:40Speaker 1: Virginia seventy one sixty three. I couldn't believe they won period.
- 55:45Speaker 1: But North Carolina led early and then just pretty much
- 55:51Speaker 1: it was like what they call a horse winning They
- 55:53Speaker 1: what do they say? They won it going away? They
- 55:56Speaker 1: won the race going away. They start in the lead
- 55:59Speaker 1: and they just go and they just kind of have
- 56:00Speaker 1: it the whole time. And for a North Carolina team
- 56:03Speaker 1: that's been terrible, yeah, to beat in Virginia. One of
- 56:06Speaker 1: Virginia was coming off a bad loss too, like against
- 56:08Speaker 1: Boston College. A yes, so like they're falling apart. There
- 56:13Speaker 1: are some eight to eleven eleven seeds that are going
- 56:16Speaker 1: to be very dangerous just because of their talent. They've
- 56:18Speaker 1: been so inconsistent, but they have the talent to make
- 56:21Speaker 1: a deep run. We watched North Carolina do it last year.
- 56:23Speaker 1: They could do it again. Arkansas, Kentucky and this Kentucky
- 56:27Speaker 1: starting to play really well too. Now this is a
- 56:30Speaker 1: year with no dominant team. I could see it being
- 56:32Speaker 1: like twenty fourteen. That was a year Kentucky made it
- 56:34Speaker 1: to the national title title game. I want to say,
- 56:37Speaker 1: is an eight seed? I mean, something like that could
- 56:39Speaker 1: happen with in Arkansas. Kentucky. Please keep saying I'm so
- 56:43Speaker 1: home or in bias, but yeah, Kentucky started to play
- 56:46Speaker 1: really good, and I hate that because they are so long,
- 56:48Speaker 1: they're so athletic, they can shoot the ball. It's dangerous. Well,
- 56:52Speaker 1: Oscar hasn't played that well this year. No, he hasn't,
- 56:56Speaker 1: but he's still but yeah, dominating. There are certain games
- 56:59Speaker 1: where he puts up like twenty in twenty yeah, and
- 57:00Speaker 1: you're like, oh crap. But then there's there are games
- 57:03Speaker 1: where after the game counts like yeah, we should have
- 57:04Speaker 1: played Oscar a little less and like you just said that.
- 57:07Speaker 1: So yeah, I hate the Kentucky's getting go. We beat
- 57:10Speaker 1: them bad in their home and they're gonna that's next Saturday,
- 57:12Speaker 1: so we're playing in Arkansas. I wish they were sucked
- 57:16Speaker 1: a little more. Right now, I'm being honest. I ever
- 57:18Speaker 1: getting Tennessee at the right time, though there's no such
- 57:20Speaker 1: right Listen. I went to Knoxville last year to watch
- 57:23Speaker 1: us play them in Knoxville, which is what we're doing again.
- 57:25Speaker 1: That's a tough place to play. Never been to a
- 57:28Speaker 1: basketball game there when they were good. Yeah, it was
- 57:30Speaker 1: a tough place. What a brutal close to you all season?
- 57:34Speaker 1: Alabama can Kentucky, Tennessee. Yeah, it's it's pretty tough. But
- 57:38Speaker 1: let's go. We're ready. We're SEC tournament next week. I
- 57:40Speaker 1: got two tickets every SE tournament game. I gave them
- 57:43Speaker 1: away except for the Arkansas wins. So hopefully we don't
- 57:46Speaker 1: have to play on Thursday. We play Friday, Saturday. Hopefully
- 57:50Speaker 1: that Sunday, because you gave the other games away, like
- 57:52Speaker 1: same Sea, I just didn't want them. I had tickets
- 57:55Speaker 1: in a box, got it, and then I was like, ah,
- 57:59Speaker 1: but I think I'm gonna go sit with the team,
- 58:01Speaker 1: and it's not when you sit behind with the coaches
- 58:03Speaker 1: and the families, you don't have tickets for the whole
- 58:07Speaker 1: day like some of those are tickets are. Yeah, we
- 58:09Speaker 1: didn't know more sessions. Didn't know that, so we said
- 58:12Speaker 1: I'll sit there. But those are only for one game
- 58:14Speaker 1: because I got to get the other coach's family and
- 58:15Speaker 1: the close people in That makes sense. Yeah, I didn't
- 58:18Speaker 1: know that when we went last year. We went the
- 58:20Speaker 1: game before and we were sitting down like, you guys
- 58:22Speaker 1: are in our seats like, We're like, no, we're here.
- 58:24Speaker 1: We gotta get out the third row and they're like no, no, no,
- 58:27Speaker 1: they're like no, oh yeah, They're like, oh, you must
- 58:29Speaker 1: be like part of the team. It's not how it works.
- 58:32Speaker 1: This is the only section that turn over every game
- 58:33Speaker 1: because we have to bring in the close the family
- 58:35Speaker 1: and stuff. We were like, oh that makes sense and
- 58:38Speaker 1: they got out. Was that ref who refut that? A
- 58:44Speaker 1: couple of final things, The Bears have been approached by
- 58:48Speaker 1: a bunch of teams this morning. It was tweeted and
- 58:51Speaker 1: chefters want to put it out read to you. The
- 58:53Speaker 1: Bears have been approached but multiple teams about trading the
- 58:55Speaker 1: Air drafts number one overall pick. Chicago's also said to
- 58:57Speaker 1: be leaning toward moving the pick. The number one pick
- 59:00Speaker 1: is for sale. Yeah, duh um, the Bears. I don't
- 59:04Speaker 1: trade fields. I don't trade for what. What are you
- 59:08Speaker 1: gonna do for a pick? For what other quarterback you're
- 59:12Speaker 1: gonna trade? They're gonna franchise tag Lamar if he doesn't
- 59:16Speaker 1: want to sign, they're gonna tag him. There's nothing, there's
- 59:21Speaker 1: nothing to trade him for. What would they trade him for?
- 59:24Speaker 1: A pick Bryce, c J. Stroud. It's crazy how good
- 59:30Speaker 1: this year and how bad they were. Everybody, who do
- 59:32Speaker 1: you trade him for? You have three? No, I'm saying
- 59:34Speaker 1: he's not the issue. Oh no, yeah, I know, but
- 59:36Speaker 1: I'm but even the fact that people are talking about
- 59:38Speaker 1: it any all these quarterbacks are so unpredictable in what
- 59:43Speaker 1: they're going to do next level. I mean, even look
- 59:45Speaker 1: at Trevor Lawrence. He went to a bad situation in
- 59:48Speaker 1: Jacksonville and looked terrible. People are like, well, Trevor Lawrence, bust.
- 59:52Speaker 1: How many of these awesome quarterbacks go to bad programs
- 59:54Speaker 1: and situation It's just like, well, they never worked out,
- 59:56Speaker 1: but it was only because well Tim Couch had the
- 59:59Speaker 1: worst Brown's organization in the NFL. I mean it was
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: just it's all based on where you are as well.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: So they're not gonna I just don't see him trading
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: just the fields, and I would trade down to yeah,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: trade the one, get a Bulka picks, get up yeah yeah,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: and then you can even use that next year. If
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: you don't feel good about Justin Stield, I can move
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: up for Caleb Williams or Drake may or something like that. Yeah,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Caleb Williams. I'd be in on that. Cayleb Williams, I
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: would be in on he's legit. I don't like him, yeah, same,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: I just didn't like it. Yeah, why don't you Gutska,
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I don't like Oklahoma. That's it? Going with Lincoln to
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: the USC Yeah yeah. And and you know Bobby Left,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I'd go with him, guys, right, you know that. I
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: get it. I get I'm believing, but I'm gonna be
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: upset both of them, absolutely, and I have. And I'm
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: now a cousin fan. I mean, I'm not a nou fan,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: but I'm like somebody's cousin where I'm like, well, that's
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: what cousin. You know, they're doing pretty good, they're doing bad.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta roll with them a little bit.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: And so I know, you when all the fans hate
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Lincoln Riley and hate Caleb Williams, and those fans happen
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: to be my wife and her parents, you're a family.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: I'm like an Oklahoma cousin fan. I did post a
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: video and I'll end on this. I did post We'll
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: do the final thought. I did post a video on
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: my Twitter where I was wishing our head softball coach
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Courtney Diifel, like congratulations because she's now the winning a
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: softball coach in Arkansas history. She turned that program for
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: being a really bad softball program to a really good
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: softball program. And I post a video and I'm like,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: coach Eifel, congratulations. Coach if has always been super cool.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: And I got a text from I guess family chess
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: and just messaged me, oh, let's go hold on And
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: it's the head football or the head softball coach at
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Oklahoma who I think she is one coach gass one
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: like six national championships and all she did was sending
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: me a hog and a broken heart. And I was like,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: you know, my loyalty. I'll be there for you. But
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I'm always fine with family already. Do Let's let's call
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: chess and see what's up. What we're calling it? Talk
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: to me there is How are you doing? We're doing
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: pretty good. We were we're talking about you and how
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: we watched the tournament this weekend and we don't really
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: know a lot about hitting good golf shots, but we
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: saw some out there. And I was like, let me
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: see if I could get our guy chessing on the phone.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: How'd you feel this weekend? Good? I I just there
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: was a little bit of poopy diaper yesterday with some
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: with some, but like overall I played great. Um, you know,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I finished twenty ninth, which you know, it's hard. Sometimes
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: you look at that and you're like, wow, that's good
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: or not good? What I know? It doesn't sound great,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: But like I feel like things are heading in a
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: really positive direction when you're out because sometimes when I
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: play golf and chess, you're talking to a twelve handicap.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Sometimes I feel like my arms don't work. I don't
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: know how to work my arms. Do you ever deal it?
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Do you ever deal with that? As a pro? Absolutely? Absolutely? Yeah.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: I yesterday on hole number eleven, my arms didn't work.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: I hit so I was hitting pitching wedge, which is
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: a club that I like, that's what we hit that
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: club really well ninety five percent of time and my
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: arms just didn't work. Can I hit it in the
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: water and I made double? And doubles aren't good? Do
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: you ever get you ever go on the sand instead
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: of yourself? Oh, this is not gonna be good because
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I do that every time I go on the sand.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: I like the sand. I like the sand. Sometimes I
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: get up and I see my lie and then I go, oh,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: this isn't gonna be good. But most of the time
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: I get in the sand on mind, Okay, I love this.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna let Chess and go. We just want to
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: get him off for the big show here before I
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: wrapped it up, but I asked Chess and I said,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: what's the key? I give me a tip and he
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: goes learned to put better? And I was like yeah.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I was like, I just paid you a thousand dollars
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: for that tip? Did you pay me? Well? Where do
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: you go next? Jessing? I'm heading home this week. I
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: have an off week, and then the week after the Players.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: That's a that's a huge tournament on the PGA Tour,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: kind of considered the fifth major, but it typically has
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: the best field in golf from you know, top to bottoms.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: So um. That's in a couple of weeks in Jacksonville, Florida,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: pont a future beach. Who's the nicest guy that you've
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: accidentally been or just random you were partnered up with
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: at a tournament and you guys became friends after being
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: partnered up because you're like that dude's cool. Well, yeah,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: like I ran into this guy named Bobby Bones this
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: year at Pebble and it was in like we just
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: instantly became friends and you know, no, I'm on his
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: radio show and stuff, and so that's been pretty cool. Yeah,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: I'll say, you know, I'll accept that answer. Even I
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: even switched radio stations Raleigh. I sort of listen to
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: him full time. Yeah, we've worked out last night last night,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: all right, what chest, We're rooting for you, buddy, and
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: thanks for thanks for picking up and we'll be we'll
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: be watching you soon. Thanks Bobby, Thanks for drop me
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: on there is all right. Hey we got a professional
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: golfer on. That's pretty awesome, man, legit. Okay, that's it.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Final thought, Eddie. Yeah, so we're talking about records earlier,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: and I wanted to shout out my eight year old
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: he broke his personal record. He had. His record was
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: twenty six going into Saturday, and he scored twenty eight
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: on Saturday. So shout out to him. He's pretty awesome.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Scored twenty eight. Oh dude, he's a ball Dame lillardy
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: dump Yeah, a kind of a ball hawk, but really
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: like he's they dumped like a fun dip on his
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: head kids Champagne. That's pretty awesome. Jessin just said it
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: is okay. I said poopy diaper, Like yeah, I'm gonna say, Dan,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Chris Rock watch the language poopy diaper. Dan want to say,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: ha ha got it? Okay, Kevin, you might call me
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: an old guy for this, But I was watching the
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: okay See and with the Suns. I can't remember who
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: they're playing on Friday, and they're ers were Teal, and
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: I was just wondering these NBA jerseys nowadays they have
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: so many and I don't even know who's playing anymore.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: When I'm watching some of these games, I'm like, Okay,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: this team is like the Sun. Maybe it was the
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Suns that were Teal, and it was just like, wait,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: since one of the Sun's been Teal. And I know
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: they're trying to sell jerseyes. I get it, but if
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: I don't know who I'm watching, then I just don't
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: understand it. What I have to do is look down
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: at the bottom where the two teams are in the color,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: because they try to match the colors, Like if it's
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: like PHX and it's rainbow with okay See and it's white,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: I have to like match there, but colors, I'm not
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: good at them anyway, your color blinds. That's tough. Be
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: honest with you. Yeah, not good at them, but I
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: understand that kind of older Heaven keep from all the collarman.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: My final thought is to thank you to you all
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: in your team for all the hookups that you all
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: have given me. I've gotten five interviews with the Vision
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: one coaches over the past about ten days. And then
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: this is now leading into everything I've been building towards.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: The conference tournament play over the next two weeks is
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: everything I've been working towards and will be the team's
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: punching their ticket to the NCAA tournament. And now thanks
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: to you all, I have, you know, access that I
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: haven't gotten before. So thank you. What do you do
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: for conference tournaments? So conference tournaments, I posted my schedule.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna be going to twenty nine games in fourteen days.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: We find that at sharphop dot com. Yes, ahead might
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: change it, might change it. We'll talk about brand them afterwards.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: But um yeah, there will be some days where I'm
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: going to all four games of the quarterfinals for different
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: conference tournaments. There will be others where the conference tournament. Um,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: the best seated team host, So I'll just go to
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: one game that day, be at that team's home environment
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: to go punch their ticket to the NCAA tournament. So
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: I'll be mixing it up but looking forward to it.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: What do you do once basketball season is over because
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: you don't have a job, right, I'll figure it out,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: figure it out, right, I'm grinding to try to, I guess,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: grow my resume, my exposure to see if there will
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: be anyone that'd be interested in picking me up full time.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: But over um that NCAA tournament, I'll still be putting
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: out content and things like that. I'll probably be going
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: to a couple of the regionals everything, probably before the
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: final four, and try to create an opportunity from that,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: and then after that be back to un Indeed, I
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: guess LinkedIn what's indeed? Does that like a job? Job
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: hunts dot com, that kind of thing. Okay. I wanted
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: to bring up the fact that I don't know I'm jealous.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: I'll say it, don't. I don't emit jealousy. Often sometimes
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: I use that as motivation instead of being jealous. I'm like,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: I'll be motivated. I'm jealous Manny Machado eleven years, three
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: hundred fifty million bucks. He already had a big deal
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: in twenty nineteen they signed him ten years, three hundred million,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: but he had a player option for this winner, and
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: so he is signed through twenty thirty four or be
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: forty one years old. Insane. That's just so much money.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: I mean, is he that that worth it? Yeah? And
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: this is the same thing where like he wasn't diving
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: for balls, right, he's worth it in that the market
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: is eventually going to catch it and they're not gonna
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: have to pay him anymore. Yeah. So do I think
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: he's worth right now? Probably not, but over the investment, yeah, probably.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: That's why you signed him such a long term deal.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: So in seven years when the market's gone way up,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: you already got your guy and you got him signed.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: He ain't going nowhere. But that's a lot of money.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: But I just a struggling six seven years from now
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: in your people schools. Yeah. Yeah, I think everybody says
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: that I just sent a picture of this to I
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: heart see you like see a little on it, Many Machado.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: That's what the markets market value. Get ahead of the
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: market here, all right, that's what's up. Thank you guys.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Go follow us at twenty five whistles. Well, would this
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: be the last time we ever see Coleman in our life?
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: That's the question. Surely I'll be swinging back at some point.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: News today. Eddie gets a call. He let me call
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: me on this. All right, you guys, Um Eddie gown
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: and blows out of here. Buddy got out of man.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Here we go. All right. We'll see you guys Friday.
