- 0:43Thanks for joining us again. How are you doing this evening,
- 0:51sir? I am great.
- 0:54I cannot believe it is four days from Christmas but other than
- 0:59that, I'm great. Awesome Governor how are you
- 1:06hold? The heat was turned off about 10
- 1:13minutes ago instructions you know once I get under the covers
- 1:25I'll be great bundle up time. It'll be the best sleep.
- 1:31Ever. But but yeah, just getting
- 1:36prepared for Asterix Lumen snowmageddon or whether mageddon
- 1:42Asterix, you know, next couple days.
- 1:46So we'll see hashtag Texas. I'll pray for you tomorrow
- 1:52because tomorrow, the lowest 10. And then we go down to 12.
- 2:04It's I can't wait. I mean it's going to be a
- 2:07helpful role of these next couple days are going to test
- 2:12the mettle of the Texans. Absolutely gosh delicious.
- 2:17How's the 72 games while doing for you?
- 2:21We only got up to about 59 today, 60, something there.
- 2:27But if it was overcast, Palm tree kind of day.
- 2:33Yes. See the sky behind me.
- 3:05That's that's, that's a photo, but that's basically what the
- 3:08sky looks like in California in the winter.
- 3:11Beautiful day. Yeah, I don't see any dollar
- 3:13signs up there because it's also hell of expensive.
- 3:16So, now, ya know how let us about how much that grid
- 3:21shutdown is gonna cost. The convention was great T & Kai
- 3:28our home. So all is good on the west coast
- 3:32and I've always got out. Shout out to everybody who
- 3:35participated first annual LLC Spades Tournament, the winners.
- 3:43Of course, TJ Harris and wow Marcus Brown.
- 3:48It's brown Marcus Brown. They chose not to take on the
- 3:52throne which is probably a good idea on their.
- 3:54Apart. They got their 800 and walked
- 3:57away smart men. I mean, that's what I would have
- 4:00done and will do it again next year.
- 4:03Yes, it will be on, it'll be on who we will, definitely put it
- 4:06on the docket. The second annual Athletics, LLC
- 4:11space tournament, we may have to eat, we have to get a solutions
- 4:15to join some of the festivities. Absolutely.
- 4:19Look at the smirk on his face already.
- 4:22I mean space. In the afternoon sir Lucius
- 4:25enjoyed Denver much like so losers, enjoy the hole in the
- 4:29head I could tell that. Just so for the record I'm not,
- 4:36he has family there. I really enjoyed my time with my
- 4:40in-laws I okay. Okay.
- 4:43Right. Some of the other foolishness
- 4:46and tomfoolery the goes on there.
- 4:47I will pass every single time. Yes Mania.
- 4:53I got it. Fight it to go ski and I left,
- 4:56right? I was like you times happen to
- 4:59me what are we going to go? Where do I will be officiating?
- 5:11The state tournament again inside.
- 5:15All right, well speaking of the convention, of course, what we
- 5:20all wait for every year and build up to is the Bowerman
- 5:23Awards. And simply put, did they get it
- 5:26right men's side, we had tray Cunningham ones for the men.
- 5:32And on the women's side, we had a be Steiner.
- 5:35When what do we think? Mmm, no on the men's side.
- 5:40I I think there's just my opinion.
- 5:44I am not saying tration one, but I don't think people really
- 5:49understand what hate knowing still are met, did right?
- 5:54I don't think people give enough credit to the multis.
- 5:59So I want to give a shout-out to Aidan and his coaches, because
- 6:02they're phenomenal season, he had, but I don't think you go
- 6:05wrong with either one of them. And, you know, Dre was
- 6:07undefeated, you know, he he's number two.
- 6:11And I will leave it at that, and yeah, he did.
- 6:15He had to get a phenomenal season.
- 6:16So, I don't think you can discount, what Ray did I think
- 6:19that anybody should my opinion? She stand up and be screaming
- 6:21because he won the award. On the women's side, as I
- 6:25watched them in, watch the videos as they presume and every
- 6:29video you watch you like how does she not win right then the
- 6:33next one. How does she not win?
- 6:34How does she not win? And I mean, I think it's the
- 6:37same thing and, you know on another controversial topic
- 6:40there was one or two people who could have been on the stage as
- 6:42well. Write it, how did she know it?
- 6:45And so, I think what the women it was a lot tougher.
- 6:48It's hard to go against the young lady that did.
- 6:51What would a be did I'm just going to give a shout out to
- 6:57time and so I lost your name. Just camera Rogers.
- 6:59Hold my God. I mean, it's like it was one
- 7:02thing to talk about it and then it was another thing to see it
- 7:05in writing and then you watch the video and you're like, oh my
- 7:08God, right? Like the top seven of the top
- 7:12ten throws in history in one season and it's just it's
- 7:15incredible. And so, I mean, the woman's was
- 7:18just tougher in, no matter who you pick, there's going to be
- 7:20two other people who keep the people thought should win.
- 7:22You know, you look at what your house.
- 7:24A little biased towards in it. And again I want to say this to
- 7:28people out there. Somebody really needs to take a
- 7:31good hard. Look at when multi-bit people do
- 7:34special things because they're doing seven or ten events not
- 7:40doing one of them. They're doing seven, that is
- 7:43counted as one so. And I don't say that because of
- 7:46Anna, I said it because of Aden I said because of the lemon
- 7:50Victors and people like that out of the past that they did it.
- 7:53Well, And I'm not saying that Anna should have one or that age
- 7:56of the one, I just don't think that did multi-vendor get the
- 7:59credit that they deserve. But hey, I don't know how you go
- 8:01wrong with a b or Trey. Both phenomenal.
- 8:04Young people who have absolutely incredible Seasons represented
- 8:08themselves. Their families are universities
- 8:10very well. If I may go next I'm just going
- 8:14to say a few things and probably set up my colleagues here for
- 8:19for the axe Hammer that I'm sure they want to drop.
- 8:23Okay, the only thing that I am for sure that the Bowerman got
- 8:27right, is that John Anderson needs to be there every year and
- 8:31I don't give a damn how they make it happen.
- 8:33Pay him do something because I can't imagine anyone else
- 8:38hosting that event. He's always phenomenal.
- 8:41And Even this and his jokes were so perfectly Petty inaccurate
- 8:46from us being in Denver to the whole to the whole thing.
- 8:52You know, if you were there you understand he was phenomenal,
- 8:57the women and and I mean this with all due respect, because as
- 9:02he pointed out all of those people are world-class Elite
- 9:08human beings. They are all deserving of being
- 9:12on that stage. Jasmine more should have been on
- 9:14the stage. And you can't argue and say this
- 9:18person wasn't good enough to win, cause they're all gonna
- 9:20swim, but no, they didn't get that right.
- 9:22Cameron Rogers should have won that award.
- 9:25It's, it's a NCAA Year award and no one has ever or will ever
- 9:33dominate their competition or the NCAA the way Cameron Rogers.
- 9:37Just did, you'll never see it again, you I won't and because
- 9:42of the throws and the food field events are often outshined by
- 9:46more glamorous things that would have been the perfect time to
- 9:50get it right and I don't think they got that one right like
- 9:55understanding what that woman did.
- 9:57Even John Anderson made reference to it in his speeches
- 10:01along the way. It was the most dominant season
- 10:05ever. And again, her Mark is like
- 10:08number six or seven, all time in the event, not in the NCAA in
- 10:12the world. So now I don't think they got
- 10:14what that one right. I think Trey over over eight
- 10:18Nolan's was correct won't split that hair props to both of them
- 10:23and and something that we touched on the last thing.
- 10:26I wanted to throw out there is If you watch the live show in
- 10:31real time, qu got to read a statement that we didn't read
- 10:34him full. I've since read the statement in
- 10:37full and as it pertains to the Bowerman, I want to say this if
- 10:42it is true that the Bowerman committee or the alphabet crew
- 10:45or whatever asked Randolph, Ross to carry their water and not
- 10:49showing up, that is dead wrong. It's not his responsibility to
- 10:53carry your water. If that happened, that's a
- 10:56cowardly act by the alphabet crew.
- 10:58Or the Bowerman committee. However he shouldn't have been
- 11:00there and rightfully so that he wasn't the don't ask him to
- 11:03carry your water for you that's cowardly and that's my thoughts
- 11:07on the back. You know, I'm going to jump in
- 11:12there because I think everybody's expecting me to go
- 11:14last. Be some gigantic Hammer.
- 11:17I can be a hammer from third. No, pun intended.
- 11:22All right. Look I'm going to start by
- 11:27stating the obvious and I'll be as brief as possible.
- 11:29One, those who know me know I went to Cal so clearly anything
- 11:34I say about a cow laughing that's going to be in some way
- 11:37shape or form jaded because it is my school.
- 11:41Got it too. I'm a field of enter and in
- 11:45particular combined inventor. So clearly anything I say about
- 11:48field events or combined events or this case, both are going are
- 11:52also going to be jaded, got it? But three and I think these are
- 11:57the big ones. I am a humongous fan of Abby
- 12:03Steiner. Humongous.
- 12:06I am ridiculously impressed by what traded.
- 12:18No, not the fries, see the grid is already started to clothing
- 12:25tips to. Oh, there you are.
- 12:27You got to back that up because the grid started to get you all
- 12:30ready? All right.
- 12:32You're a tremendous anyway, long story short, is this like look,
- 12:43I'm a huge fan of everybody who I believe it was on who was on
- 12:48the dais and and and you know, Trey will never unfortunately
- 12:54get his, his, his do because he has a bad birthday.
- 12:58Like being Grant set bars that are just pretty much darn near
- 13:03impossible to get to someday someday, maybe but whatever I
- 13:09think on the men's side you could have flipped a coin like I
- 13:13could make a very strong argument for Aidan.
- 13:15I could make the equally strong maybe even stronger argument for
- 13:19Trey, I had no issue with it. When women side you could have
- 13:24picked any one of four people and made a strong argument for
- 13:26it. And yes, I said for and I'm
- 13:28never getting off. I'm a die on that hill.
- 13:30Just so we're clear. I'm going to die on that Hill.
- 13:34Jasmine more should have been there and I'm going to die on
- 13:36that hill. But that all of that
- 13:39notwithstanding, I'll just say this.
- 13:42John Anderson is unbiased for the most part.
- 13:48I think we all pretty much agree.
- 13:50He might, he might be a slight SEC Homer only because he knows
- 13:55those people more because he covers that meat.
- 13:58I don't think he is, but if you're going to accuse him of
- 14:00anything, you could accuse him of that.
- 14:03And with that being said, he said during the Bowerman.
- 14:09The cam Rogers had the best Collegiate season in any event
- 14:16by any one ever, ever. Don't forget that word ever look
- 14:21how I was I was pausing for effect, so so I say this, if
- 14:26that is true and I think we all kind of agree with John, like,
- 14:31when he says things right? He doesn't usually say things
- 14:33that we feel are controversial or wrong, but if that is true,
- 14:37then there can only only be one winner of this year's Bowerman.
- 14:42Right, like when you have 11 of the top 10 marks.
- 14:50Yep. I said 11, when you have 11 of
- 14:53the top 10 marks in Collegiate history, in any event, And you
- 14:59had said, I want parts of all you got to paraphrase, that's
- 15:03the top level Market. We know, I said it, the way I
- 15:06wanted to say because I want people to be paying attention.
- 15:10You just tell everybody you went to Cal so yeah, I did.
- 15:13So you'll figure it out. It's like quantum.
- 15:15Physics point is is really simple, right?
- 15:18Like when you own everything that they only, they only keep
- 15:22record books publicly for the top 10, right?
- 15:24If you won't, when they like the best throws, Including history
- 15:29by our by Cameron Rogers. And seven of them happened this
- 15:35year. Like it's just No matter what
- 15:39you do, no matter how good anybody else is seizing was like
- 15:42Cameron Rogers, not winning it just kind of is going to fall
- 15:46short. Now, do I have an issue with a
- 15:50be winning know, whatever had an issue with, with an a-hole
- 15:54winning. No.
- 15:55But if I had a vote, which I don't, it wasn't difficult for
- 16:01me to vote for Cameron Rogers. And she could have gone to
- 16:05Stanford, I would have said the same like, like at the end of
- 16:08the day that level of dominance is just almost impossible to do
- 16:13at the Collegiate level, So I don't think they got it right.
- 16:18But I mean you look it's not the most egregious thing on the
- 16:21planet. I mean again nobody's going to
- 16:22ever complain that Abby Steiner one about meant.
- 16:26No, not at all. Well, speaking of some female
- 16:33sprinters, you cut off, don't know.
- 16:35Cut off the governor. Oh, shoot, sorry.
- 16:39Well, good. I'll keep it short and sweet as
- 16:43well because I believe everyone else on his panel, pretty much
- 16:48echo, my thoughts, my sentiments.
- 16:52And you know this this was my first This is my first Bauman
- 16:59like to actually and I've been at several conventions and just
- 17:07didn't go, but to sit in there in that room and to have those
- 17:13athletes be appreciated and given their flowers and I mean,
- 17:18John Anderson was unbelievable. Unbelievable.
- 17:22The the end, of course, the ones that can understand a snark.
- 17:27The underhand comments and all of that though, I thought I
- 17:32turned several times to Clyde to see him to see what he was
- 17:36looking like, it was just like he was loving every minute of
- 17:40it, you know. And it was like keep it coming
- 17:43but as far as, you know, I understand And I'm just going to
- 17:49leave it there. I understand why the two winners
- 17:52of the Bauman were picked. I get it.
- 17:55Okay. And, you know, the only thing I
- 18:00could say is that, you know, the Barrowman is, it's not a
- 18:06technical, it's not a technical award.
- 18:12It's not it's not an award. That is based on here are the
- 18:17numbers. Here are the facts.
- 18:20It is a it is an award. It is the Heisman, right?
- 18:24And how many times we wash the Heisman and sat there and going
- 18:28wait a minute really? And it is what it is.
- 18:34You know, when you when you have a committee that has to make
- 18:38these decisions, I mean I don't envy them whatsoever.
- 18:42And I do agree that could have been for women.
- 18:45This this year was very, very unique because you if you really
- 18:54dug into what female athletes did this year in the NCAA, I'm
- 19:00telling you it was pretty phenomenal, you know.
- 19:05So all that being said, I get it and let's move on.
- 19:15Yeah, I mean I don't think anybody says much variance as to
- 19:20what has been said already. So shout-out to a thing.
- 19:23No, for the catwalk oh Bravo nominal done.
- 19:27Then she sold it. Jones.
- 20:00So as you bring up her name, let's speak about her.
- 20:05And some others of some recent movement that's been brought to
- 20:09light. There have been a few athletes
- 20:12male and female 11 male 3, females who have made a move and
- 20:18call it if you would portal. Ask they have changed coaches,
- 20:23right? Like ya don't even get me
- 20:25started on the portal today to portal ask and Who are now being
- 20:30coached by Bobby Kersey. Who of those individuals, I
- 20:34think Moe, Jenna prandini Kenny Harrison.
- 20:39Brandon Miller do we think is going to fare best?
- 20:43There's a location change, but of mention of mention, Well, I
- 20:49mean it's a thing. It's, it's a grand slam home,
- 20:54run. Anybody that knows about weaker.
- 20:58See, you know? You shouldn't challenge box, you
- 21:04shouldn't let Bobby know that you doubting him and talking
- 21:07crap behind his back. And so when people have put it
- 21:12out into the ether for Bobby to either read or have somebody
- 21:17read to him that it was a dumb move, that she's not going to be
- 21:20successful that she can't do this.
- 21:23You are guaranteeing something incredibly special.
- 21:26So I want to thank the haters. Because you're going to see
- 21:30something special because that's not the guy to challenge, he
- 21:33will get it figured out, I can promise you, he's thinking world
- 21:36record in the 800 and he's probably at some point.
- 21:43I'm going to have the two fastest Americans women ever in
- 21:46the 400m. Leave it right there.
- 21:51Go for it. Yes, I'll just say this one
- 22:00additional piece to everything that Solutions just said.
- 22:04everybody who's ever been otherworldly successful as
- 22:08someone like Bobby has been Praise at night for a challenge.
- 22:15Bobby has coached gold medalists in the for on the women's side,
- 22:20the for the to the 100 hurdles 400 hurdles, guess what?
- 22:26He hasn't coached the gold medalist in yet.
- 22:31And I think it's laughable that people think that it will not be
- 22:39successful. When me Bobby got Jackie, who is
- 22:45a severe asthmatic to run sub to tannin and 800 in a heptathlon?
- 22:53So look, I'm looking forward to this because this is something
- 22:59none of us have ever seen. Bobby, Kersey coaching a half
- 23:03mile, ER, professionally. And I know that he is at home
- 23:08like this and I am at home like this with the popcorn because I
- 23:13can't wait to see what happens when when a signal goes through
- 23:19the first 400 in like 50, 18, or some crazy.
- 23:22Easy nonsense. I'm sure it won't really happen
- 23:26but you know what I'm saying? Like he's going to take them to
- 23:29a place that nobody wants to go. She's already.
- 23:33Doing that started taking them places.
- 23:35They don't want to go so yeah, I don't I won't say I don't think
- 23:40it'll be close but I think the happiest person that Bobby, the
- 23:46Bobby has it that they move there as a thing mode.
- 23:53Like so for me, you know, if anyone knows me I enjoy the
- 23:59story behind the story, more than the story and as to your
- 24:06point Lamar, I'm looking forward to see how, how is he going to
- 24:14structure this young lady? And I say that because You know,
- 24:20for those of us that are, you know, professionals at what we
- 24:24do, I mean what we witness, so far with the thing mode we've
- 24:28seen her, do it in many different ways.
- 24:31We've seen her run fast, taking it out and sitting in the pack,
- 24:35we've seen her, take it out and say, hey, I'm taking you all out
- 24:38into the deep end if you choose to go with me.
- 24:40So be it, if not, I'm just curious as to how, you know,
- 24:46because anybody that knows Bobby curse.
- 24:50Is that he is very meticulous and he has a plan, and he will
- 24:55have a plan much like what we saw Woods would Sydney.
- 24:59And it was a sight to behold when we saw this thing play out,
- 25:06right? And you think about where it
- 25:09started from running the 60 hurdles indoors running on a her
- 25:14off leg. Right now, we're seeing we're
- 25:18seeing the plan being put in motion, okay?
- 25:22You're going to go to New York and you're going to run on your
- 25:25off leg in front of your home fans, right?
- 25:29And you're going to keep doing this until it becomes natural to
- 25:35you, right? And then we're going to take
- 25:38that and we're going to throw that into the for hurdles and
- 25:42we're going to hit hurdle times and and split time.
- 25:46It's faster than anyone's ever seen before, and I'm just
- 25:50curious to see how Bobby attacks, you know, because I
- 25:54can't think for any. I can't think that there's any
- 25:58other reason why I think Moe would choose to move to Bobby.
- 26:03Other than we're going for it. I have I have won titles.
- 26:08I've done all of these great things.
- 26:11Now, I Want To Make History. So yeah, I mean, That I'm on the
- 26:17same. The same boat.
- 26:18I'm gonna thing mole boat and I can't wait to see.
- 26:23So, I'm not going to disagree with anything that's said and
- 26:26obviously my choice is also a Thing mo.
- 26:31But I'm I come to that from a slightly different angle and
- 26:34perspective. If the question ultimately is,
- 26:38which of the new arrivals, right?
- 26:42Well, all of them are extremely talented.
- 26:46I mean, Kenny used to have the world record just not too long
- 26:49ago in her primary event, right? I don't know if we've seen the
- 26:54best of Kenny. And if anybody can, can build on
- 26:59what she already has been. Yeah.
- 27:01You bet on Bobby Kersey. I don't know if we've seen the
- 27:04best of Jenna prandini but where she is in her career and given
- 27:09her age, I'll bet on Bobby Kersey.
- 27:12Brandon Miller is an extremely nice Talent.
- 27:17He's young. Obviously, I don't even know
- 27:21what to think about his move out there other than he's in bobbi's
- 27:25hand. So it'll probably go well,
- 27:26right? but the youngest and by far the
- 27:32most gifted is a Thing mo. And last I checked, she's
- 27:37already the Olympic champion, she's already the world
- 27:41champion, she already the u.s. record holder.
- 27:44So No matter who you're a fan of what event, you like, more,
- 27:49regardless of whatever you think about Bobby, Kersey, fan or Foe,
- 27:53the obvious choice of who should be the best of this transition
- 27:58should be the Unicorn who's already accomplished and, you
- 28:02know, conquered the world. I believe that at the end of
- 28:06this, A Thing mo is going to do something more special and more
- 28:12jaw-dropping than what David rudisha did with the men. 800.
- 28:18I can't wait to see it and if you're familiar with Lala or
- 28:26understand you know the west coast and the pitfalls that are
- 28:30off the track, then you might you might think that the
- 28:33youngest in the group is going to be the most accessible the
- 28:38most acceptable susceptible to What I call La culture, because
- 28:45it is a thing and l.a. culture has ruined too many athletes in
- 28:49a many college kids, and a many things.
- 28:52But if you've ever met this young lady, if you've ever
- 28:56actually had a conversation with her, I was lucky enough to spend
- 29:00a few days, hanging out and talking with her mother in
- 29:04Orlando at the Olympic experience, that NBC had put on,
- 29:08That young lady, I don't care what her ages mentally, she is
- 29:11years beyond what her age says, she is.
- 29:16And I have no worry about l.a. culture ruining her career and
- 29:22if anything and like I said, if you were at the Barrowman don't
- 29:25think for one second that part of this move wasn't also
- 29:28business off the track. I think she's going to thrive in
- 29:31all areas and I hope I hope that her and Sid.
- 29:38Become the poster children of this Sport and their names and
- 29:43images, and likenesses are plastered all over Billboards
- 29:45and television. Because there they are that good
- 29:48and that's what exactly what they deserve.
- 29:50And if anybody can step into that pressure and own it, I'll
- 29:54bet. My, I'll bet my money on a thing
- 29:55mode. Sorry about that.
- 30:04We had a light flickering still scary.
- 30:14No, leave it there thing though. We're going to see the fruits
- 30:20come from that first, and I don't think many else will
- 30:24disagree, and it'll be interesting to see how it all
- 30:26plays out and everything. And how much how everyone in
- 30:29that group will fare? So kind of leading off of that.
- 30:34Female-led topic, coming off, that female, that topic after
- 30:39the world championships, do we think the American women?
- 30:45Well, hold their own against the Jamaican woman.
- 30:48So this is coming from different aspects, talking about a
- 30:54different points. But you know, we saw a reference
- 30:57to this and social media today are not today this week, I'm
- 31:00sorry. You know, how do we feel about
- 31:03that that statement? I think the governor has to go
- 31:06first on that. so, Up until that that post was made on World
- 31:21Athletics. I honestly thought the woman USA
- 31:25woman had won that battle. And, you know, it's not
- 31:31something that is, you know, talked about, you know,
- 31:35particularly, you know, it is, this is not ncaa's, you're not,
- 31:39you're not, this is not a team title or anything like that.
- 31:44But it does speak volumes that after.
- 31:48What we witnessed with the woman's throws, the u.s. woman
- 31:52throws the, you know, the breakthroughs in the jumps that
- 32:01the Jamaican woman were so dominant.
- 32:05In the hundred, 200 the hurdles, the, you know, the four by one,
- 32:12the 4 by 4. That, that actually overcame any
- 32:17of the gains that the u.s. woman made in the throwing it in the
- 32:20field events. So, all that being said, I think
- 32:28the future is bright for us. Women, I think outside of a few
- 32:33athletes that are retiring and moving on, with their careers.
- 32:40They're this, this we're entering I think a golden age
- 32:44for the US women and the challenge and the moves that
- 32:51were made speaking of what just happened with I thing and and
- 32:56and Company. I think the challenge is clear
- 33:00that the u.s. woman are going to have to fight and Claw and
- 33:06scratch in the Sprint events and A hurdle events and they have
- 33:11the talent. I don't think there's any ever
- 33:14been a question of how much talent the world the US women
- 33:18possess, but they're there at some point there has to be, you
- 33:24know, some some Moxie, you know, to step into that ring and go up
- 33:29against some of the greatest sprinters that we've ever seen
- 33:33in history of the sport. So, it's an exciting time.
- 33:37I feel like the woman have what it's the u.s. women have was has
- 33:42what it takes. And you know it's I can't wait
- 33:48to see the, I mean I've got my popcorn ready for that too.
- 33:56I was going to back up and say I think that you know there was
- 33:59like a 1-point difference in Podium places.
- 34:01You know points. Yes the Jamaican come maker on
- 34:05top and obviously the lacking was in the one, the two, and the
- 34:09four. Yep.
- 34:10No. So I think the question begs to
- 34:13what do we do to get better in those areas and it comes down
- 34:17to, I think do better planning better coaching better, whatever
- 34:21it takes. X because we're not close to
- 34:24them in those areas right now. Without doubt they, perform are
- 34:26behind them in the for the were nowhere near at the championship
- 34:31level anyway, where they are in the one of the two circles you
- 34:34have to say, just say it starts with the four.
- 34:39I think the the weakest area, the area that could be attacked
- 34:45is the 400. Well, I think that it's all
- 34:48three of them when you stop and think about it because we didn't
- 34:50we didn't perform well in any of those mean.
- 34:52I think that we were a competent in the to but we were totally
- 34:58incompetent in the other ones and I think that for me, you
- 35:01look at the u.s. list and you have three or four girls at 110
- 35:059, but yet we do have a medalist you know, we're not even close
- 35:08to him, that Elijah. Say that, you know, the one we
- 35:11better realize 10-8. Today is not fast anymore,
- 35:14right? And two, we better realize that
- 35:17you can't run 1070, something that the championship you're not
- 35:19going to metal and you got to be able to run 1080 or better at
- 35:23the Championships. Two metal not just To get there.
- 35:27So I think the key here for me is better planning with training
- 35:32as far as being at our best. When it counts the most, and
- 35:35stepping up our game and understand that we even though
- 35:38we have some Bright Young stars and I can't believe I'm about to
- 35:43say this fugazi time-traveling will not get us a medal.
- 35:47Okay. All right, that's too good.
- 35:52That was that was that was John Stockton.
- 35:57Which is why I don't appreciate the question the way it is
- 36:09phrased because say the words again to it's amazing you don't
- 36:16appreciate the question because the question is petty as hell.
- 36:19Yes, I appreciate the pettiness of, I don't appreciate the way
- 36:23it is phrased. The question is after the
- 36:27performance at this year's World Championship, we think the
- 36:31American women were hold her own against the Jamaican women
- 36:35moving forward. And and so hold their own is
- 36:38very interesting. Very, very American elitist way
- 36:44to ask that question because it's almost like if we're not
- 36:48dominating the world, then all of a sudden were not holding our
- 36:51own. If you look at it,
- 36:52mathematically, we lost by one point.
- 36:55But, but the question wasn't related to the one-point loss?
- 36:59I'm questioning And black.
- 37:26So I know we are around the right definitely most definitely
- 37:31holding our own as it pertains to the what was referenced
- 37:37already as far as which team is putting out better results when
- 37:42it comes to the Sprints and short hurdles.
- 37:47And I'm going to focus primarily on the hundred because that's
- 37:50probably the spirit in which whoever posed that question is
- 37:54coming from. So here's the price and I want
- 37:56to push the pause button for one second.
- 37:58Sorry you put your little girl little girl face.
- 38:00All right, the question pertains to the one, the two and the
- 38:03four. You can't tell the person asking
- 38:05the question. What the question pertains to
- 38:07it's? Not your question is there?
- 38:09Well, they didn't make that clear sir.
- 38:11Hence, why I am making, I am making it clear now, but I
- 38:15didn't need that because I already said I'm gonna focus on
- 38:17honey because they don't you Federal folks 100 because that's
- 38:21what they were pertaining to. That's what you said.
- 38:24Yep. Mmm.
- 38:26Yep. You're not allowed to finish.
- 38:27You can finish. It is just don't put words in
- 38:29people's mouths. Don't think for other people.
- 38:31Just just say what you have to say, please.
- 38:34I'm trying. No, no, you're not.
- 38:36You trying to people for some people's mouths.
- 38:41A little girl face. All you want to bother me?
- 38:43I'm sure that. Would you let me say what you
- 38:51want. So, go ahead, go ahead.
- 38:57All right. Now, anyway like I said, I'm
- 38:59going to focus on 104 now. We are absolutely holding our
- 39:04own. We talked about on this show,
- 39:05often the realities of birthdays and keeping this conversation.
- 39:11Clean pun intended right now. Shelly-Ann, and Elaine Thompson
- 39:19have whichever way you want to slice, it establish themselves
- 39:23as the goat and the other goat of women's hundred meter racing.
- 39:29They are Elite. They have been in their Rhymes
- 39:32for a very long time in the best that we have As Americans are
- 39:36literally rookies. So, I don't know in what world.
- 39:41Anybody expects rookies to be able to step in and unseat the
- 39:45goats that doesn't happen in any sport it.
- 39:49Damn sure is not about to happen right now.
- 39:52So, Melissa Jefferson TT, Terry. Whoever it is you want to talk
- 39:58about their phenomenal talents, they are developing well, as of
- 40:03this moment and I only expect them to get better, they're in
- 40:07the finals, they're supposed to be in and holding their own is a
- 40:12very curious term, Abby, Steiner Etc.
- 40:18When put together we beat them in relay so they're more than
- 40:23capable. Capable of holding their own.
- 40:26I think it's just a matter of do I see Shelly and losing to an
- 40:29American before. She hangs up the spikes in a
- 40:32world championship or an Olympics.
- 40:33No. Do I see in lanes?
- 40:35And taking that L? Probably not.
- 40:38So ultimately this becomes a story about Sharika Jackson,
- 40:42who's the youngest of the group and do we think that the
- 40:45Americans can ultimately challenge her?
- 40:47I believe that they can in the hundred, not sure about the
- 40:51deuce. I don't think, you know, Have
- 40:54anybody that that is at her Talent level introduced that can
- 40:58ultimately push where she's going to take that event but I
- 41:02think we're very close to the end of the sweeps happening
- 41:05because Shelly and Elaine can't run forever especially Shelly.
- 41:10So I think it's an accident of timing more than an issue of you
- 41:17know, development or who we have, I very much like our young
- 41:21crop with one exception, they've all shown Shown that they can
- 41:24get it done under bright lights and rise to the pressure of the
- 41:28world stage. And so as long as those people
- 41:31continue to be coached well and continue to do the right things,
- 41:34I think we'll end up with a medal in the next couple Cycles,
- 41:37World, Champs Olympics, whatever.
- 41:40But unseating the goats highly unlikely I would just the only
- 41:46retort I have for you to that one sir is and we had a medalist
- 41:50as Carmelita Jeter in 2012. So now we're changing the
- 41:57question to go back. No no, no, no.
- 42:01I'm not gonna let you do that. My question is very simple one.
- 42:06Have we had a medalist since 2012?
- 42:11I don't believe we had. So historically actually yes,
- 42:13yes we have. What's your name?
- 42:19Florida. Jesus London 17 in the end
- 42:26Olympic 16 Tori. Bowie.
- 42:28So we're going got medals in both those both those World
- 42:30Championships. So so, so in the last 10 years
- 42:32is that one person metal history.
- 42:35Doesn't show that the development that you speak of is
- 42:37going to happen. I hope it does.
- 42:40The the new rookies are in the hands of different people, I
- 42:43hope it does. But history does not bode well
- 42:47for the u.s. and I make a and Jamaica and then just the world
- 42:53juniors. As the EP loves, it's a is a
- 42:55great indicator of the future of the sport.
- 42:58Jamaica just went 1-2 at the world, you're denying it.
- 43:02Yep. All fair the, the best of our
- 43:06youth are not in the hands of situations.
- 43:10So we'll see. Well I'm not going to change the
- 43:19question. I want to ask my own.
- 43:20Damn question make sure you interrupt him because the
- 43:26question in particular strikes me listen I mean do you watch
- 43:32the show you know I am I'm a field event I'm a field and
- 43:37track guy, right? So at the end of the day I went
- 43:41back and looked at the scores and I was Like okay, I get it.
- 43:44Like they did score. One more Point than we did and I
- 43:46like how they did it because they did a much better job at
- 43:49their typical strengths than we did.
- 43:52But what I find interesting is I think if you asked anybody going
- 43:56the going into this year's World Championships, should we have
- 44:00scored in these events? The answer would be yes. 1500
- 44:03Steeplechase women's hides up, women's 100 hurdles and we just
- 44:07heard any of those, right? So if we score in any of those
- 44:10were not, this question isn't even asked.
- 44:13No, apparently this question isn't about that.
- 44:15Well, I just got to stop by that.
- 44:17We're not doing that. We will see.
- 44:21This is this is my chance to talk me stop.
- 44:23Cuz I cuz nobody yet. Look, I think that the thought
- 44:55of us not having the greatest track and field nation is
- 45:01laughable, right? Because I I think in the next 2
- 45:07so the world championships in the Olympics.
- 45:09I think, on the women's side, we will probably be relatively
- 45:15dominant because I don't think that the women stores are going
- 45:18anywhere. I do think somebody like Jasmine
- 45:22more and somebody like Tori Franklin are going to push
- 45:25forward and battle for metals and like I said the 1500
- 45:30Steeplechase high jump 100 hurdles.
- 45:32We've Metals in those before and Full-on expect for us to meddle
- 45:36in most, if not all of those. Again I think almost all of our
- 45:40performances from World Championships are repeatable now
- 45:44directly to the specificity of the implied.
- 45:48Portion of this question, which is because look at the end of
- 45:52the day that you make is only going to compete against us in
- 45:54the Sprint's, right? Like they're not having this
- 45:56conversation about like we're a better track, Nation track
- 45:59meeting, track and field. Like we're a better Spirit
- 46:01nation and I think going forward like at the end.
- 46:04The day. If you're if you're a prospector
- 46:09right there, top and talent is better than ours, but their top
- 46:15end. Talent is substantially older.
- 46:17The question is going to be very simple will Melissa Jeffress in
- 46:24and TT Terry and Gabby and Abby push their way into the metals
- 46:33before the to Jamaicans. Junior's we just saw.
- 46:39Get seasoned enough, right? So like we have the got, we have
- 46:42the women in the gap between the goats and the young'uns point,
- 46:49and that point that has to be belated belabored, we're talking
- 46:54about the greatest generation of Jamaican sprinters in their
- 46:59history. Yes, I mean, he came Merlin out
- 47:03of the equation. Merlin doesn't line up with
- 47:06these young ladies and beat them.
- 47:09This is the greatest group of Jamaican Spinners.
- 47:12We passed. I would just like to remind you
- 47:14guys that the question is, will we hold our on moving forward?
- 47:19And I was in a lot of ways this year,
- 47:32because we start the supercycle, right?
- 47:35We start the natural world championship Olympic world.
- 47:38Championship, right? We start that.
- 47:41So like everything has happened before this.
- 47:43Like now we're not dealing with Kovac these.
- 47:44This is when we were supposed to be world's Olympics worlds, and
- 47:48at the end of the day, it comes down to whether the people I
- 47:51name because look, others may be may become Pretenders to the
- 47:54throne and if they do great, you know, if the Lea hobbes's and
- 47:58and others of the world, we've also run very fast show the
- 48:01ability to make a final. Then I'll talk about them too,
- 48:03but the group that I just mentioned, They have to go about
- 48:09their work this year feeling as if it's a metal or nothing.
- 48:15If they can do that and push forward and can make that
- 48:18happen, then I'll say, will do more than will do more than hold
- 48:22our own. But at the end of the day, we
- 48:23have a small window right? The two young'uns from Jamaica.
- 48:28Are going to struggle to get high level International
- 48:31competition because of the three goats in front of them.
- 48:37So we have to while we have this gap between them and them we
- 48:42have to figure out if we can get in that game.
- 48:45Gap and make a difference, my guess is.
- 48:49Yes, but I know this that window ain't open wide.
- 48:55We got about two years for that group, that I mentioned to make
- 48:59themselves more than sort of relevant, we got about two years
- 49:03for them to be legitimate, you know, to be like, tyloo
- 49:08everybody knows to lose going to be in the final and she's going
- 49:11to be in the frame. She hasn't forgotten, she hasn't
- 49:14been third yet, right? But she's in the front, she's in
- 49:17the frame. So we got about a year and a
- 49:21half two years at most to get that crew in the frame.
- 49:24Yeah. Because the babies will arrive
- 49:26by Allah. Yeah, I don't think they arrive
- 49:29by Paris but they going to ride by la.
- 49:34All right. so, Not relatives. The question prior please
- 49:42delineation has been made. Where do we think we are in
- 49:46regards to War on Drugs? Aside from losing?
- 49:52Can we get to a good place if so how I know, just losing to the
- 50:01drugs. No, I think we're losing the War
- 50:07on Drugs phraseology, right? Like, I don't know how you win,
- 50:23quote unquote, a war on track and field drugs.
- 50:25Other than the sport is completely clean.
- 50:27And so then every time somebody gets busted or somebody you know
- 50:32removes themselves from The Fray via whereabouts, I guess in
- 50:35theory we're making the sport cleaner.
- 50:38So in that regard I don't think we are losing.
- 50:41We I mean we are limiting drug cheats no question about it.
- 50:45I don't know if we're eliminating them all by any
- 50:46means and I think that's where the losing terminology comes
- 50:50about. But at the end of the day this
- 50:53to me the answer to this question is very simple.
- 50:58We never make real advancements in. catching drug cheats,
- 51:05because the doctors and chemists on the side of right are behind
- 51:17the doctors and chemists on the side overall, Right, like
- 51:22everybody who is who was testing positive and getting banned and
- 51:27such in the last will say, in the last Olympiad, they're
- 51:31testing positive for things that to olympiads before they could
- 51:35very well have been on, and we never would have busted them.
- 51:39Right. So like as soon as the good side
- 51:42figures out that this helps athletes the people who are in
- 51:50that realm to cheat have moved on to the next thing because the
- 51:56best way, if you're going to be a drug cheap, the best way to do
- 51:58it is use things that aren't being tested for Right like
- 52:03human growth hormone like ruled the sport for more than a decade
- 52:08because there wasn't a test for it.
- 52:10We weren't doing blood testing EPO ruled the sport for the
- 52:14better part of a decade for the same reason.
- 52:17And so, you know, look, I would love to be naive enough to think
- 52:21like, yeah, we're catching more drug cheats, but at the end of
- 52:25the day, like we're still catching people who were doing
- 52:28things, like stew nozzle. All like, do come on, that's
- 52:32Ben. Tonight's in the 80s, right?
- 52:35Clenbuterol, so at the end of the day, like I would love to
- 52:40believe that we, we were progressing because we are, but
- 52:44I think the only way to like, truly run a clean sport is like,
- 52:48you'd have to have the best Chemists in the best.
- 52:52You probably need a snitch, like you probably need a drug cheat.
- 52:57To decode some things. For the doctors on the good
- 53:02side. So that you knew what next to
- 53:05test for. Because that's where it's coming
- 53:07to their layers here. Layers that we will never see
- 53:13and never understand. That's perfect.
- 53:16I don't know how you ever win a war when you don't know who
- 53:20you're fighting. Yeah, you know, is impossible
- 53:24when that war. I'm not sure how you ever win a
- 53:26war when the weapons are constantly changing?
- 53:31And I don't know how your win a war when I don't think the world
- 53:35really wants to be 1. Let's write that part that part
- 53:39right there, sir. That's that's the problem.
- 53:41And so they were the day until the powers that be put rules in
- 53:46place to make the drugs cheat. Stop cheating.
- 53:51You know there's there's more uproar about where you know
- 53:58people missing test and we ever hear about people that feel well
- 54:02and you know we're still talking about now.
- 54:05The people that fills test back in B12, and 20 this and at the
- 54:10end of the day, again, just simple for me.
- 54:13I don't know how you win a war. That I'm not sure that once that
- 54:17wants to be one. so, I have two scenarios that That pretty much
- 54:30accurately describe the situation.
- 54:33Well, one scenario that accurately describes the
- 54:35situation we're in. So said, drug cheat goes out
- 54:42wins a whole bunch of medals has a two, three, four year span
- 54:49where they are on top of their game.
- 54:54They get hurt, whatever it is, you get a phone call, whatever,
- 54:59whatever. And then they quit, and then
- 55:02they move on, right? So, they've won the accolades.
- 55:06They've gotten a sponsorship, they've gotten all of these
- 55:08great things. They're riding High, okay?
- 55:12A move on and 10 years later. They get a phone call that what
- 55:21they were using back then has been found and they are now
- 55:27caught. so, Now, you're talking about 5-10 years after the fact
- 55:36and the person that was second or third or whatever is now
- 55:43elevated, right? And that person is given is
- 55:47rightly given the metal because of said drug cheat.
- 55:52Now, if that is winning. If that is what you know, or
- 56:00current world Athletics feels like winning, then I'm sure
- 56:07listen to Demons has some words for you.
- 56:11Okay? And they're probably not some
- 56:13very nice words but this is where we're at.
- 56:17Okay? And the whole point of keeping
- 56:20blood samples and all of that stuff is to make sure And to
- 56:27follow up and to follow up again and to follow up again.
- 56:31And at the end of the day. Yes, it might, you know, it's
- 56:37way after the fact But hey look, we caught him. okay, now I will
- 56:48also say this I remember when I was doing my masters in sports
- 56:55sports management, drugs drug cheating, is brought up and the
- 57:01idea was floated that the reason why the NFL NHL major leagues
- 57:08took all drugs and put them in the substance abuse policy.
- 57:15Right. And just kind of labeled it that
- 57:20in order to move on with the season with whatever is because
- 57:29they they're they're their standpoint and their approach to
- 57:34the fans. And all of that was, this is not
- 57:37going to derail our season. We're going to keep things
- 57:40moving. So whether it's an
- 57:42antihistamine, or it's the nazan all Or whatever it is.
- 57:46You violated a League policy. Here's your, here's your
- 57:50punishment. Let's move on.
- 57:53And that's what we're seeing on that end, right?
- 57:56And they consider themselves a professional sport.
- 58:01Okay, on the other hand, World Athletics is still in a
- 58:07situation where we are going to get to the root of the problem
- 58:12even though it's 10 15 years down the road and when it does
- 58:16happen, hey it's going to be big news and this innocent that
- 58:20we're going to knock on the shin, the Demas has door and
- 58:22we're going to handle that. At metal that she earned 15
- 58:26years ago. and that's the part that they might consider
- 58:32winning. But it's it certainly has a
- 58:38stink to it in my opinion. And I don't know that there's
- 58:43any fixed to this. I don't think there's any fixed
- 58:47to this because, as Lamar put it very succinctly, the people that
- 58:53are trying to catch the drug, cheaters are literally sitting
- 58:57there waiting for a sample. They're literally, they're
- 59:02literally waiting for an anomaly right?
- 59:06And God bless him. There's some patient people.
- 59:10Because it's not something that just pops up on your computer
- 59:14every day, right? So it's, in my opinion, we are
- 59:20not winning the war and I don't think there's any way to win the
- 59:25war. I will vehement Lee disagree
- 59:33respectfully with the governor. I think you absolutely can win
- 59:39the war. I agree with sir lucious that
- 59:44right now. I don't think anybody's really
- 59:48trying to win the war. I think it's more of an attitude
- 59:52of we want to look like we're fighting it.
- 59:56Well, And, you know, I will say this, I think given the context
- 1:00:03of the 70s, the 80s, the 90s early 2000s, I think, and I hope
- 1:00:09that the sport is cleaner now than it's ever been.
- 1:00:13I actually do believe that to be true, but I don't think that
- 1:00:18anyone that matters is actually really, really serious about
- 1:00:23eliminating to whatever degree you can.
- 1:00:27The Ooh, of doping in our sport if you want to do it.
- 1:00:32Here's how you do it. Number one, you make the
- 1:00:36punishment. So severe that people actually
- 1:00:39have to consider if they want to go down that route because let's
- 1:00:43be real those that Have the moral compass that will allow
- 1:00:47them to defraud the sport. They don't really care about
- 1:00:50these two-year four-year bands, they don't get they money
- 1:00:53anyway. You there has to be restitution.
- 1:00:57There has to be a way for athlete X y&z who were defrauded
- 1:01:02out of their medals to be able to Sue.
- 1:01:06There has to be a financial compensation.
- 1:01:08For being caught, there has to be Financial repercussions for
- 1:01:14missing your whereabouts. When you start affecting
- 1:01:17people's pockets, then you can get to a place where you are
- 1:01:22starting to take it as seriously as it needs to.
- 1:01:24I have always been a fan of Lifetime bans.
- 1:01:30I don't want to hear all this middle round shit.
- 1:01:34If you get caught, Positive with illegal substances in your
- 1:01:40system. You should have to go find
- 1:01:42another profession period and the story.
- 1:01:45I don't really care about the excuses.
- 1:01:48If we go to Lifetime bans and financial restitution, I think
- 1:01:54you eliminate 99% of people that even consider doing this.
- 1:01:58Yeah. 100%. Right.
- 1:01:59Because because if was schinder, could sue.
- 1:02:04I forgot her name. Who stands up?
- 1:02:06And she if she could sue and Chuck for lost wages, Oh, that's
- 1:02:12a whole nother animal. And and in the case, and in the
- 1:02:15case of that particular case, which made some new news this
- 1:02:20week that's the Russian doping Scandal.
- 1:02:23That's state-sponsored. So if we can sue the Federation,
- 1:02:28oh yeah. Like, hey, if you, if you want
- 1:02:31to play the Olympic world championship game federation's,
- 1:02:35you're going to be held financially responsible for the
- 1:02:39shenanigans, your athletes are doing.
- 1:02:41Oh, I think everybody would get real serious.
- 1:02:43Yeah, about doping control country to Country Place to
- 1:02:47Place, right? So until people are willing to
- 1:02:51go that route. I'm never going to be the one to
- 1:02:55to believe that everybody really really really cares about this
- 1:02:58issue. I think it's an issue that
- 1:03:01people know better than to act like it's cool.
- 1:03:04And so right now everybody acts like they're trying to do as
- 1:03:08best as they can but we all know that they don't have the Stomach
- 1:03:12to really go where they need to go.
- 1:03:14So I think it is solvable. I don't think we're on that
- 1:03:17path, but I do think we've made tremendous strides, and I do
- 1:03:21think it's cleaner today than it has been, but Lamar is
- 1:03:25absolutely correct that those that wish to cheat those that
- 1:03:30wish to defraud the sport and the medical chemical
- 1:03:34professionals that help them. They're always going to be ahead
- 1:03:37of the testers. By Nature that is that is the
- 1:03:40way it is and has always been. Well, let me speak to one thing
- 1:03:45really quick. You said and you believe firmly
- 1:03:48that the sport is cleaner now. And here's what I'm going to
- 1:03:50tell you and and the governor will completely agree with me on
- 1:03:55this one. When we competed in the 90s we
- 1:03:59were 100% sure. We were competing in a cleaner
- 1:04:03generation than the 80s and everybody competed in a cleaner
- 1:04:08job. Duration of the 70s.
- 1:04:09But look, here's the funny part, the seventies.
- 1:04:11If you really think about it, drugs weren't illegal writes, a
- 1:04:15really and truly, like, they were just doing what they could
- 1:04:18do. But we all were 100% sure that
- 1:04:21competing in the 90s, it was a much cleaner situation than it
- 1:04:24was in the 80s. And then we know what we found
- 1:04:26out like, right at the end of our careers.
- 1:04:28Oh, my goodness is human growth hormone.
- 1:04:31An EPO were things. That people have been taking the
- 1:04:33entire time. We were competing, we had no
- 1:04:35idea, no idea. So what I'm telling, Telling you
- 1:04:38now is, like, look, I want to believe that this board is
- 1:04:41cleaner to. When we find out in 2010 that
- 1:04:44everyone's been taking Rocket Fuel of some sort that we didn't
- 1:04:47know about, right? Like, listen, until we get Until
- 1:04:55we get drug cheat level, doctors on the clean side.
- 1:05:02This board is going to operate, where it is, those who have the
- 1:05:07means, and the moral compass to cheat are going to cheat.
- 1:05:13And I will, I will end on this as long as there is a thirst for
- 1:05:22unbelievable performances. Okay.
- 1:05:27And let's be clear. What we witnessed in 2003 in
- 1:05:31Paris was that derivative of Oh, hell.
- 1:05:39When there was an announcement made prior to that race, power
- 1:05:44prior to those championships, by the French drug-testing
- 1:05:49Federation, or whatever you want to call it water, whatever.
- 1:05:53And it scared the bejesus out of A fair number of people.
- 1:06:00Let's just say that, okay? And if you look at the results
- 1:06:04of the men's 100, All right, that was not an apparition that
- 1:06:10was not, whether that was not the track, okay?
- 1:06:16Something happened, that led to that, okay?
- 1:06:21And you know, it's that was one of the first times that we ever
- 1:06:27witnessed. The world Athletics putting
- 1:06:32something out there that might have tipped off people that you
- 1:06:35know what? Hold up.
- 1:06:36Now, we got to, we got to fix something here.
- 1:06:41And if you think about the scandals that touched off after
- 1:06:46Paris or right in the öin 2003, it's pretty amazing.
- 1:06:52Now, do we have to wait, another 20 years for that to happen
- 1:06:57again? I mean have we witnessed
- 1:07:00anything like that since no, we haven't.
- 1:07:05Like I'm I'm talking about results going from Way High.
- 1:07:12To hear again, okay? So it's something that You know
- 1:07:21call me jaded call me, you know I mean having been through it
- 1:07:26having lived through it. Yeah, I'm not one that thinks
- 1:07:30that anything is going to change anytime soon.
- 1:07:37All right, well, let me time. She'll tell us, really won't
- 1:07:43know. So all right, closing out the
- 1:07:46topics. Moving on to, would you rather
- 1:07:48sir Lucius, it's your turn this week.
- 1:07:51Oh, my see, that was perfect because he always knows who's
- 1:07:56turn it is and he was really surprised.
- 1:08:24Would you consume? Pork have to make a choice, the
- 1:08:34choice. Would you rather have your vote
- 1:08:37holiday vacations to be in warmer weather or cooler?
- 1:08:40Weather warmer, would you rather open presents
- 1:08:56on Christmas Eve or on Christmas morning?
- 1:08:59One on Christmas Eve, the rest on Christmas morning.
- 1:09:05It has to be just a random one. Like, you just pick one random
- 1:09:08one on Christmas Eve. Rest of them Christmas with
- 1:09:11little teaser, not take you, but the bed and dream about what
- 1:09:13you're doing. Exactly.
- 1:09:20Would you rather watch Die Hard or Christmas story for your
- 1:09:24Christmas movie? Would you rather do your
- 1:09:35Christmas tradition, whatever it might be tree caroling, whatever
- 1:09:38it is fully dressed to the T, or in your pjs.
- 1:09:44Okay. PJ's Lamar said, okay, I'm out
- 1:09:56there. This is so being of an immigrant
- 1:10:00family. I didn't know that was a thing,
- 1:10:02like I thought people always got dressed up because it was a
- 1:10:04holiday occasion and then she'll learn that, some, some
- 1:10:07traditions were done in like their Christmas PJs, mind blown
- 1:10:11completely mind-blowing. So anyhow, that was my, would
- 1:10:15you rather gentlemen? The floor is yours.
- 1:10:18Would you rather eliminate Christmas or Thanksgiving?
- 1:10:24I want them both. What is it?
- 1:10:37I mean I'm sorry. God.
- 1:10:40That's that's what that's for. I just can't
- 1:11:16I mean, I kind of know the answer to this but I'm curious.
- 1:11:20Would you rather spend the holidays with your family or
- 1:11:24with three of your favorite celebrities?
- 1:11:33You guys are terrible. Of course, I want to be with my
- 1:11:39family. Hi Angela, the Jew, you are
- 1:11:48clearly. All right, sir.
- 1:11:55Now you focused Yeah, you are you are in a Spades Tournament.
- 1:12:03You saved the Free World. Who is your partner Martin
- 1:12:11Luther King or Barack Obama? That's an easy question, X.
- 1:12:20I'm going, we're going to Brock Obama.
- 1:12:25That's right. You go something something just
- 1:12:27tells me that you're being here on out of Chinatown.
- 1:12:31Yeah he got my back. We got my back.
- 1:12:35Oh you don't think the guys spent most of his life in
- 1:12:38Alabama and Georgia. I like the outside keys.
- 1:12:44I just don't think he spent very much time playing space, mr.
- 1:12:48EP, as we have experienced over the past however many years,
- 1:12:52Southerners struggle with space. Okay.
- 1:13:04Well, I'm going to throw the question to serve lucious, which
- 1:13:10is a slightly different context. I get why it was asked to me,
- 1:13:13but I'm going to ask it to him from the convention.
- 1:13:17Mr. King of all Thrones, which title Outdoors, would you prefer
- 1:13:27to defend? The men or the women?
- 1:13:33Well, I want to first begin by saying we have nothing to defend
- 1:13:37it's ours and they can't be taken away from so therefore
- 1:13:40there's no defending. So I would like to win them both
- 1:13:44because I'm greedy. I think we're capable, of
- 1:13:47course, we know but I would absolutely think Wing the
- 1:13:52women's title would be more important for our Legacy.
- 1:13:55So that's the one I would like to know, Hmm.
- 1:14:02All right. Well somewhat shallow As
- 1:14:10painful, would you rather? This is
- 1:14:23what most of us celebrate not most of us but not to those who
- 1:14:36are here too. I'll go first since mine was
- 1:14:45referenced earlier in the show my heartbeat props.
- 1:14:48Go out to The One and Only Lucinda Dimas former teammate of
- 1:14:54mine Gamecocks and you know just one of the best people that I've
- 1:15:00known throughout my time in this sport It was recently announced
- 1:15:06that Lucinda is going to get her, well, deserve Olympic gold
- 1:15:12medal, from London, 2012, where she lost the 400-meter hurdles
- 1:15:20race to a doped up Russian. This is it, as happy as I am for
- 1:15:31shin, finally, getting the recognition that she deserves.
- 1:15:34You have to understand how horrific lie screwed up.
- 1:15:37This is before there was Sydney, McLaughlin, it was listen to
- 1:15:44Dimas And unfortunately, that loss.
- 1:15:51Landed a narrative about her and her career.
- 1:15:54That was just unfair. She lost money, she lost
- 1:16:02sponsorships. I'm sure she lost a gold medal.
- 1:16:06She lost her Olympic moment and ultimately has been remembered
- 1:16:13incorrectly for how amazing she was in this Sport and her time
- 1:16:18in it. And there's no fake ceremony
- 1:16:22that they're going to invent in Paris that's going to make up
- 1:16:25for that. There's giving her the metal 11
- 1:16:29years later, rightfully, so, but it's some bullshit.
- 1:16:35And when you come across these situations, it is, in my
- 1:16:40opinion, the responsibility of world Athletics and the
- 1:16:44governing bodies to honor these people in a way that actually
- 1:16:48means something. Because Hannon, her a medal, 11
- 1:16:51years later, don't mean nothing. You owe this woman money.
- 1:16:56You owe this woman so many things and the fact of the
- 1:16:59matter is she's never like I remember the fire.
- 1:17:04The heat that Lucinda had to take when she quote unquote lost
- 1:17:07that race. Go look at it.
- 1:17:10I watched it again today. She executed that thing
- 1:17:14brilliantly. Brilliantly.
- 1:17:17And no one will ever remember that she did even when you give
- 1:17:21her the new gold medal, right? It's so wrong on so many levels,
- 1:17:27but I'm glad that that it is being corrected in some way.
- 1:17:31It's not enough, it'll never be enough.
- 1:17:34And so many people have had to go through this.
- 1:17:36Over the years, we have to find a way to make these people.
- 1:17:41Hold there has to be some kind of financial reparations for
- 1:17:45being cheated. This woman found a way to
- 1:17:49literally conquer the world and has never been properly honored
- 1:17:54for it and never got to capitalize on it.
- 1:17:58So you know uh a standalone medal ceremony.
- 1:18:03A ain't gonna be enough and so Shin I love you.
- 1:18:08You, you are, you were the greatest talent that event has
- 1:18:13ever seen until Sydney came along and I just wish that Your
- 1:18:17career would be remembered for what it absolutely was like, you
- 1:18:21were the best, you were the best of your area where the best of
- 1:18:24your time. And I really, really wish that
- 1:18:28people would remember Lucinda Dimas.
- 1:18:31And those who have suffered these wrongs that way because
- 1:18:34they deserve it, they deserve nothing less.
- 1:18:39I'm going to jump in there just cuz I want to piggyback on that
- 1:18:42one piece really fast like this. That's not my heart beat fast,
- 1:18:45but I just want to say this, this is the part that nobody
- 1:18:47gets you can give someone a metal that they deserve years
- 1:18:53later. You could even give them the
- 1:18:55money that they just that they lost, but you can't ever make
- 1:18:59them whole because you can't fix the moments, you can't fix
- 1:19:03videos and you can't fix the pictures, like I Think about
- 1:19:06this, every single time, every single time.
- 1:19:09This happens to somebody, I think to myself, There are
- 1:19:13pictures in this house of neon, a metal stand.
- 1:19:18And if I had gotten fourth and then was later.
- 1:19:23Elevated to the bronze medal. There will be no pictures of
- 1:19:27that moment and you can't recreate that right?
- 1:19:31You can't recreate the feeling that happens that day, right?
- 1:19:36Then And to have it to have a victory feeling stolen away and
- 1:19:43replaced by a loss because of course in the United States.
- 1:19:48Second place is the first loser, right?
- 1:19:51Like that's Irreplaceable and it's in.
- 1:19:53It's it's a reprehensible and it's just yeah I got nothing.
- 1:19:59I mean London, London did a great job covering that meet,
- 1:20:02you know, visually media-wise. You can go on YouTube right now
- 1:20:06and watch the eight-minute video.
- 1:20:07Start to finish from the announcements to the whole
- 1:20:09thing. Look at Lucinda's face.
- 1:20:11Yeah. When she lost quote-unquote that
- 1:20:14race? Well, you've heard me say this.
- 1:20:16If I sometimes like the happiest person on the podium is the gold
- 1:20:19medalist. The second happiest person is
- 1:20:21the bronze medalist because the silver medalist always feels
- 1:20:24like they lost. It's just how it goes.
- 1:20:27My heart. Be props are R2.
- 1:20:31R2, my little sis like she's not really a little anymore.
- 1:20:33She's a grown woman but today's her birthday, so miss corlane
- 1:20:37Gary. Three happy birthday.
- 1:20:39She will actually watch this show because I'll send it to her
- 1:20:44and she's doing her Thug. Thizzle in the, in the film
- 1:20:48industry in New York and I'm super duper proud of her.
- 1:20:50So that's it for me for the night.
- 1:20:53So, my heartbeat props, go out to Jordan Crooks Jordan Crooks
- 1:21:00is from the Cayman Islands, he's a sophomore swimmer, at the
- 1:21:05University of Tennessee, and he recently won the first World
- 1:21:11Championship gold medal for the Cayman Islands.
- 1:21:16Wow, in the 63 graduations. Let's go.
- 1:21:21It's I mean, I have no words and it's funny because a reporter
- 1:21:29called me this morning asking me for my thoughts.
- 1:21:33And one of the questions was, well, how do you feel about your
- 1:21:39mantle being taken as the most successful and I'm sitting there
- 1:21:44on the phone and I'm just like I like the cloud feed him this
- 1:21:47question and you know, I pause for a second and I said, look,
- 1:21:58the whole point is that someone would pick up the mantle That's
- 1:22:05the whole point. That's the point.
- 1:22:07I set the standard and so for these young athletes that are
- 1:22:12coming up through the ranks, you know what you have to do, right?
- 1:22:17And and so kudos to this young man, I've never met him but I'm
- 1:22:23certainly trying to get ahold of him so I can congratulate him on
- 1:22:27the phone and talk to him and get a chance to meet him.
- 1:22:31But yeah, he did that he went to the world championships and he
- 1:22:36won a gold medal. The first ever for for my island
- 1:22:42nation heartbeat props to Jordan Crooks congratulations.
- 1:22:49Congratulations, Jordan. My heart be props is going to go
- 1:22:55out to and I you know I've been doing this a lot over the last
- 1:22:59six months, I will do it. Again, pay attention, and mental
- 1:23:02health, folks, lot of people out there struggling, we hear more
- 1:23:05and more stories every week about people that are struggling
- 1:23:09and you know, they have no one that I'll feel like they have no
