- 0:20Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome, bless this mess. In the True Grum podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I don't care here, whats do? So I hayes do?
- 0:24Speaker 1: All right, we're back this week and we were going
- 0:26Speaker 1: back to Louisiana. We have our yes, we have our
- 0:30Speaker 1: third serial killer in that timeframe. Sorry, I'm having some
- 0:36Speaker 1: issues drinking a diet coke so because target failed me
- 0:41Speaker 1: and I really wanted a glass of prosecco rose. And
- 0:43Speaker 1: then so I bit the bullet and was like, okay,
- 0:46Speaker 1: I got a deal on delivery, so I was gonna
- 0:50Speaker 1: deliver it and then you know, fuck you over in
- 0:54Speaker 1: the drive through.
- 0:55Speaker 2: So we don't get fun care for this one.
- 0:57Speaker 1: No, so they were and then I had to cancel
- 1:01Speaker 1: it because I'm like, oh, I don't want it if
- 1:04Speaker 1: it's going to be. The point was for you to
- 1:06Speaker 1: get to here fast. About me having to get out
- 1:07Speaker 1: and it's one hundred plus three degree weather because it
- 1:10Speaker 1: is so hot here. Everybody. It is so hot. The
- 1:13Speaker 1: air conditioner can't even keep up. It's been like warm
- 1:16Speaker 1: in here. Even the five year old today when we
- 1:19Speaker 1: were in here doing her reading lesson, she was like,
- 1:22Speaker 1: it's hot in here, and I was thinking, it is
- 1:24Speaker 1: hot in here, and I know it's hot in Houston. Okay, everybody,
- 1:29Speaker 1: we know it's hot. We know it's human. But I'll
- 1:31Speaker 1: take that over. It's like it's like stepping into an
- 1:34Speaker 1: oven here. It really is. It feels that's what it
- 1:36Speaker 1: feels like.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Hot.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It's a dry heat. That's how I sold the place
- 1:42Speaker 1: to stew. But it's a bunch of bullshit. Every but
- 1:45Speaker 1: it's like it's a dry heat, like it's no big
- 1:47Speaker 1: deal because it's a dry heat.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Oh, when you actually go in the shade, you actually
- 1:51Speaker 2: get cooler.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It's true, though, when you go in the shade, you
- 1:54Speaker 1: do get cooler. However, if you step out and just
- 2:00Speaker 1: from your air conditioner, it's the first time that you're
- 2:01Speaker 1: stepping out in the day, and it's later in the
- 2:03Speaker 1: evening when it's like real like five PM or so,
- 2:06Speaker 1: the hottest part. It does feel like you've just opened
- 2:09Speaker 1: your oven and stuck your head and breath. Yes, so
- 2:13Speaker 1: it is hot here.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yes, I cannot wait to get back to the humidity.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yes, we'll take all commity.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I never thought I would say that, but I cannot
- 2:20Speaker 2: wait to get back to the humidity.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So if you are new here, we are moving in
- 2:25Speaker 1: now four it's right. At four weeks, the movers will
- 2:28Speaker 1: be here. We have movers because it is we're moving
- 2:32Speaker 1: for my job, so we they do provide movers, thank god,
- 2:36Speaker 1: because I just would sit here and cry. I would
- 2:38Speaker 1: really just cry. I wouldn't move and be like, never mind,
- 2:41Speaker 1: this is where we.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Live for the rest. Yes, no, I will stay here.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So actually, I take that back. I will not.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I'll just take all the shit to good will and
- 2:48Speaker 2: be done with it.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Just start over new at the new place from scratch anyways.
- 2:54Speaker 1: But yeah, we are in the in the midst of myths,
- 2:59Speaker 1: miss Mi, midst midst midst of moving and so decluttering
- 3:08Speaker 1: trying to I did get the bathroom done, like all
- 3:10Speaker 1: the I threw away a ton of stuff out of
- 3:12Speaker 1: the bathroom, so that's all good. And we got to
- 3:15Speaker 1: slowly just try to get some of it done. But
- 3:18Speaker 1: at this point we're just taking it all and then
- 3:20Speaker 1: we'll figure it out when we get there. I'm just
- 3:22Speaker 1: so excited because this is an older house. It's two story,
- 3:25Speaker 1: which is a new situation for us.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I will say, I'm get my steps in.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Yes, it's a new situation for us to have a
- 3:31Speaker 1: two story home. But with the square footage we need.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It is hard to get these. It's hard to get
- 3:37Speaker 1: a house that's not two story for the square footage
- 3:40Speaker 1: we needed for six people living in there. You can
- 3:44Speaker 1: get like a ranch style home, but they don't have
- 3:46Speaker 1: a lot of those in neighborhoods, you know, like where
- 3:50Speaker 1: we need to be close to my work and stuff.
- 3:53Speaker 1: You could find that more probably in the country, like
- 3:56Speaker 1: a ranch style home or the one of those like
- 3:58Speaker 1: eighties style, those long ones. Is that what it's called?
- 4:01Speaker 2: Ranch style style?
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're just long, they're big, long houses.
- 4:07Speaker 2: So shotgun houses.
- 4:09Speaker 1: No, not not a shotgun house. It's called a ranch
- 4:12Speaker 1: style house or whatever I think is what it's called.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It's not a shot I know what a shotgun house
- 4:17Speaker 1: is because you can shoot a shotgun from one day
- 4:20Speaker 1: into No, I'm just saying, like the long the longer houses. Yes,
- 4:25Speaker 1: a wider home. Okay, we're gonna move on. Because I
- 4:28Speaker 1: started rambling or whatever, I just cut a bunch of
- 4:30Speaker 1: the shit out. I just said, okay, because I don't
- 4:32Speaker 1: know where was going on. I was meandrink you were
- 4:35Speaker 1: all right, So uh, let's go ahead and get into it.
- 4:38Speaker 1: But first our Patreon we appreciate everybody who is supporting us.
- 4:41Speaker 1: We just want to show it's only three dollars a month.
- 4:43Speaker 1: It's for like general support, but you also get the
- 4:45Speaker 1: episodes twenty four hours early and ad free, and you
- 4:49Speaker 1: also get a semi regular shoot the Poo where we
- 4:52Speaker 1: just talk about what's going on with our lives. Like
- 4:54Speaker 1: last time we talked about me being drunk at oh, severely.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Drunk, severely drunk.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You know I still got it in me. You know,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm starting it's not fun for me. I'm starting to question.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Because you were beyond the point of being fun.
- 5:15Speaker 1: No, I am fun Kara. But the good thing about
- 5:17Speaker 1: me I was I was talking to the lady at
- 5:20Speaker 1: work and she and she she was my bad wedding
- 5:24Speaker 1: date because I told her, you're not allowed to be
- 5:25Speaker 1: my wedding date ever again, because you're a bad influence.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I found out she was giving me tequila shots and
- 5:31Speaker 1: I just didn't remember happening.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yes, that's what I said. How drunk were you? Yeah?
- 5:38Speaker 1: So my point is, she said, as long as you
- 5:42Speaker 1: don't throw up or get in a fight, it's fine,
- 5:45Speaker 1: And I did not. I don't did neither of those things.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I'm a pretty I mean, if I was going to
- 5:49Speaker 1: get it, do anything happen with that, I would throw up,
- 5:51Speaker 1: Like that would be more likely what I would do.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'm a pretty go along, get along drinker.
- 5:57Speaker 3: You know.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I'm I'm either I'm like dance for or something. I'm
- 6:01Speaker 1: either going to going to bed, I get tired, or.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I get goofy or violently ill.
- 6:08Speaker 1: That's usually the next egg. I think of allergic to alcohol,
- 6:12Speaker 1: which I think we're all allergic because it is a
- 6:14Speaker 1: poison and everything. But you know, I start those things,
- 6:17Speaker 1: it's like, oh, you shouldn't be drinking, drinking poison, alcohols, poison,
- 6:21Speaker 1: blah bla blah. I'm like, boo, you know.
- 6:24Speaker 2: What you said. You said I'm never drinking again, and
- 6:26Speaker 2: you're on that wagon for a good week.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Maybe we were, because you know what, I like a
- 6:33Speaker 1: crisp chard Nay with my sharcouterie board. Okay. I like
- 6:37Speaker 1: a prosecco rose. I like a fun margarita on Mexican night.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I like these things. And what's you know there's people that.
- 6:45Speaker 2: That's how we got Jamison, little Tequila, Rose and Tito
- 6:54Speaker 2: that's our kids' names. That's what Tara was drinking.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Whatever anyways, so true. Our patron really appreciate everybody. Yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 1: it's three bucks General Support. So you can check it
- 7:06Speaker 1: out patroon dot com, slash buss this mess podcast. What
- 7:08Speaker 1: are you trying to say.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Well, if everybody's got their addresses up to date, I
- 7:12Speaker 2: did find some stickers.
- 7:13Speaker 1: We do have some stickers from a law if you
- 7:15Speaker 1: recall a long long time ago, maybe still send out
- 7:18Speaker 1: the stickers. At the new house, we have, we have
- 7:20Speaker 1: a space there. We can be more, we can do
- 7:22Speaker 1: more things. They the people built a giant storage area
- 7:26Speaker 1: back there, like air conditioned with plumbing in it and stuff.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yea, because they were running a little business on her.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Yeah, she was running like embroidery business. So it's like
- 7:33Speaker 1: this huge space off the garage where we can actually
- 7:37Speaker 1: set up to like do something like that. Right now,
- 7:39Speaker 1: we can't do anything because these children are everywhere.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Yes, they put their hands on everything.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Well, it's also these freaking these open floor plans are
- 7:46Speaker 1: the devil. I swear to god, it's the It's this
- 7:48Speaker 1: is why people the divorce rate is so high. It's
- 7:50Speaker 1: the open floor plans do there's no privacy. Our Our
- 7:55Speaker 1: bedroom is basically an extension of the front room. It's
- 7:58Speaker 1: so annoying, like.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Because they're right off the little bike.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I hate an open floor plan. It's the downfall of
- 8:05Speaker 1: America is the open floor plan.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And I little cars under our room upstairs.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I stand by that statement. And then we have if
- 8:14Speaker 1: you would mind rate review subscribing five stars only. I'm
- 8:17Speaker 1: emotionally unstable. I cannot handle the criticism, so just either
- 8:23Speaker 1: don't do it or give us five stars.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I can, so he can't.
- 8:26Speaker 1: He reads them all. I stopped reading.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I will tell her about it.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yes, he'll wait and till the lowest my lowest.
- 8:34Speaker 2: And if you're being snarky to me, yeah, but listen
- 8:40Speaker 2: four to four you suck, Cara. That's what she said
- 8:43Speaker 2: right here.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yes, I I'm not good. I don't even know why
- 8:49Speaker 1: I share myself on the internet with these meals because
- 8:52Speaker 1: I'm I don't like the mean stuff. I'm starting to
- 8:55Speaker 1: get immune to it and I just let it go.
- 8:58Speaker 1: But sometimes it's still boss. There's me. But everybody's saying,
- 9:01Speaker 1: my hair looks nice right now. But the reason I
- 9:03Speaker 1: have to fix my hair every day is because all
- 9:05Speaker 1: my I've been fixing my hair every morning, you know,
- 9:07Speaker 1: curling it so it does. It does look nice. It
- 9:09Speaker 1: does look nice. It doesn't take me that long. I
- 9:12Speaker 1: really should do it like that every day. I should
- 9:13Speaker 1: have been doing it like that. However, a lot of
- 9:15Speaker 1: times I used to put my hair back in a
- 9:19Speaker 1: last I used to put my hair in a clip
- 9:21Speaker 1: going to work a lot because it was easy. And
- 9:25Speaker 1: my all my hair's falling out. So now if I
- 9:27Speaker 1: pull my hair back, I look like a balding old man.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I look like stew so so I can't even look
- 9:35Speaker 1: at myself like that, and I feel so self conscious.
- 9:38Speaker 1: So I have to fix my hair every day now
- 9:39Speaker 1: so I can wear it.
- 9:43Speaker 2: It's like looking in America.
- 9:46Speaker 1: So yes, so right now people are telling my hair
- 9:48Speaker 1: looks like so I'll take those compliments. Anyways. Speaking of that,
- 9:53Speaker 1: we do have Instagram, Facebook and TikTok and YouTube, so
- 9:56Speaker 1: I share our dinners each night, which if you're new here,
- 9:59Speaker 1: you're pray. Think what does it have to do with
- 10:00Speaker 1: true crime?
- 10:01Speaker 2: It has, It.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Has never nothing to do with it, except for I
- 10:06Speaker 1: do chop up little pieces of body and sneak it
- 10:08Speaker 1: into the mill every night, so.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Sleek and taste it.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I do share true crime recommendations, but I have been
- 10:17Speaker 1: off that just because I haven't been watching a lot,
- 10:18Speaker 1: because we've been busy, I've been reading a lot, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 1: things like that important. And then we have bias at
- 10:25Speaker 1: coffee if you just want to do a one off thing.
- 10:27Speaker 1: We've had people bias that we really appreciate it. Yes,
- 10:32Speaker 1: a bias at tequila shot, whatever you want to call it,
- 10:34Speaker 1: whatever you feel like we need.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Okay, it doesn't matter. I don't get any of it.
- 10:38Speaker 1: No anyway. So that is all of the things I think.
- 10:43Speaker 1: So let's go ahead. Oh do people do? People were
- 10:47Speaker 1: enjoying my reading things, So I'm just going to give
- 10:49Speaker 1: a real quick rundown. So I finished Good Joy, Bad Joy. Yes,
- 10:52Speaker 1: they can skip through this Good Joy, Bad Joy. That's
- 10:56Speaker 1: what that little thirty second things for. This isn't going
- 10:59Speaker 1: to take but a minute too. So if your listeners
- 11:01Speaker 1: now just do it. Hit it four times. Good Joy,
- 11:03Speaker 1: Bad Joy, very lovely book. It was about this eighty
- 11:08Speaker 1: nine year old woman and her friend is dying, and
- 11:11Speaker 1: so she's kind of just like reevaluating her life. And
- 11:14Speaker 1: her friend was kind of like a free spirit, traveled
- 11:17Speaker 1: the world, did all sorts of things, and then she
- 11:19Speaker 1: was kind of the one who stayed in the hometown,
- 11:22Speaker 1: married the first guy she met, had the children, did everything.
- 11:26Speaker 1: So her husband was a that not that great, but
- 11:30Speaker 1: you know, she stayed with him and stuff like that
- 11:32Speaker 1: to try to just keep keep the peace and do
- 11:35Speaker 1: the right thing and everything. So then she kind of
- 11:38Speaker 1: is like, oh, maybe I need to live my life
- 11:39Speaker 1: a little bit. So at eighty nine years old, she's like,
- 11:41Speaker 1: I think I can choose to do. I'm kind of
- 11:44Speaker 1: like invisible, so I can go and pull the fire
- 11:48Speaker 1: alarm and no one's gonna to me. So anyway, so
- 11:51Speaker 1: it goes through that with her. Anyways, it was a
- 11:53Speaker 1: real nice book. I did enjoy that when I gave
- 11:57Speaker 1: it five stars. Then when I'm so then I moved
- 12:01Speaker 1: on to a good person, which is about so far,
- 12:05Speaker 1: I'm only like fifty pages in. Her name's Lillian, and
- 12:09Speaker 1: she is if you like a crazy bitch, this is
- 12:14Speaker 1: this is your book, you know, And I do like that,
- 12:17Speaker 1: so so far I'm enjoying it. Basically, she's dating this guy,
- 12:22Speaker 1: or she's kind of like hooking up with this guy.
- 12:24Speaker 1: She wants him to be her boyfriend. He breaks up
- 12:27Speaker 1: with her and then he ends up dead, and then
- 12:30Speaker 1: she's like the prime suspect or whatever. So but she's
- 12:36Speaker 1: like crazy though, you know, so I don't know how
- 12:38Speaker 1: it words gonna go at.
- 12:39Speaker 2: But it's only fifty pages.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe that could be it. So that's what I'm
- 12:45Speaker 1: currently reading. And yeah, all right, so now we'll get
- 12:49Speaker 1: into it. So if you're we're skipping through, the story
- 12:52Speaker 1: is about to begin right now, all right, on April eleventh,
- 12:58Speaker 1: two thousand and two, in Baton Room, Louisiana, behind the
- 13:02Speaker 1: behind the old Mason Blanche. Is that how I would
- 13:05Speaker 1: say that?
- 13:06Speaker 2: That is.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Maison Blanche. I'm I'm learning Spanish right now, so I
- 13:11Speaker 1: can't be bothered with such things as French.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Of course, yes, the way it just hits.
- 13:15Speaker 1: The cometa comeista. I tried to practice all those I
- 13:22Speaker 1: tried my my cute my office mate, she speaks Spanish,
- 13:29Speaker 1: and so normally I wait for her to be down
- 13:31Speaker 1: there with me at the lunch line because the ladies,
- 13:34Speaker 1: the ladies that serve the lunch are Hispanic, so they're
- 13:38Speaker 1: always speaking Spanish. So I usually wait.
- 13:41Speaker 2: For her there talking about you.
- 13:43Speaker 1: No, I usually wait for her to be about that.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Bald lady coming down being difficult.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I'm actually very there's some people that are really difficult
- 13:53Speaker 1: at that because our our work provides lunch for us
- 13:55Speaker 1: against their will, but they do. It's a long story. Anyways,
- 14:00Speaker 1: I usually wait for her to be down there with
- 14:02Speaker 1: me to practice my Spanish with the ladies, and so
- 14:05Speaker 1: I didn't today because I had to run down and
- 14:07Speaker 1: I was like, be brave, Kara, be brave, just like
- 14:09Speaker 1: do it. And so I was like grossier, oh no,
- 14:12Speaker 1: not grocies.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I was like, that's a difficult one there.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I was like, hola, and then I said, como sta
- 14:20Speaker 1: she said. She just looked at me. She's like, will
- 14:23Speaker 1: we be in? And then she said something else. I
- 14:24Speaker 1: couldn't understand her, so so I got real awkward, and
- 14:27Speaker 1: I said and then it was and then it was
- 14:35Speaker 1: just awkward.
- 14:36Speaker 2: And then I was like, did you rub your head
- 14:39Speaker 2: right there? That's probably And then.
- 14:41Speaker 3: I was like I gotta I gotta finish this, like
- 14:45Speaker 3: I gotta close this out.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I can't just abandon the script right now.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Anyways, so then she hands me my food and then
- 14:53Speaker 3: she's like she asked me what I wanted to and
- 14:55Speaker 3: so I didn't know how to say pickles and onions Spanish,
- 14:58Speaker 3: so she just looked at she said, I said, see, so.
- 15:05Speaker 2: She was talking to you in English and you were
- 15:07Speaker 2: answering with c no and Grassius yes.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And then I'm like, no, you need to practice. So
- 15:14Speaker 1: then uh, because it said the thing says like be
- 15:17Speaker 1: brave and practice people. I should have just I should
- 15:21Speaker 1: have just stuck with my you know, my office mate. Anyways,
- 15:24Speaker 1: so then whenever I leave, I said, Grassius left, and
- 15:28Speaker 1: then I went upstairs and I told her. She's like,
- 15:31Speaker 1: she's like, oh, at the door, you're just trying to learn,
- 15:34Speaker 1: because she usually tells him in Spanish like she's trying
- 15:36Speaker 1: to learn Spanish. So and then they're they kind of
- 15:39Speaker 1: know to do like a basic like you're talking to
- 15:41Speaker 1: a five year old conversation real slow, yes, real slow,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and keep it. So if I say come Osta, they say,
- 15:49Speaker 1: mouie be in Ousta And I said, mooh.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Like you're in a Spanish class.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Eleven one Spanish class. Anyway, Okay, back to back to
- 15:59Speaker 1: the story story. You know they're really gonna miss me
- 16:04Speaker 1: up at that office.
- 16:06Speaker 2: We stopped on the first.
- 16:07Speaker 1: All right, April eleventh, two thousand and two, and Baton,
- 16:10Speaker 1: Louisiana behind the old mess On Blanche department store on
- 16:14Speaker 1: main street was a boarded up, abandoned building that you know,
- 16:19Speaker 1: you walk by and it's super sketchy.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You're like, just let's hurry on bike, like that one
- 16:26Speaker 2: we said by New Mexico where we were walking around
- 16:28Speaker 2: the block and they were boarded up.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, New Mexicana. We were in Albuquerque.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Someone notices something in the flower bed along the sidewall.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Well it's not just something, it's the body of a woman.
- 16:44Speaker 1: She's on her back, legs spread deliberately across a small tree,
- 16:50Speaker 1: as if someone had taken the time to arrange her
- 16:52Speaker 1: that way. Her face and chest are already covered in insects,
- 16:57Speaker 1: and her own shirt has been pulled up and knotted
- 16:59Speaker 1: tighter on her throat. Her name is Renee Newman. She's
- 17:03Speaker 1: forty six years old. By the time detectives finished processing
- 17:07Speaker 1: the scene, they think they already know who did this.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Baton Rouge had spent the better part of a decade
- 17:13Speaker 1: hunting serial killers, because remember this our third serial killer. Okay, yes,
- 17:17Speaker 1: this is could you even imagine like living there and
- 17:21Speaker 1: I mean they were spread out like it all happened.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Over a decade, imagine.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Well okay, but during that time. It did all happen
- 17:29Speaker 1: over a decade. But that's a lot of dead, dead
- 17:31Speaker 1: bodies because Derek Todd was no just in that area.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Though Derek Todd was seven, the Gilliskuy was eight, and
- 17:39Speaker 1: then this one's three. So we're talking almost twenty bodies.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Happened.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but that wasn't at the same time or in
- 17:47Speaker 1: the same area. This is all in the same city.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I'm just saying, there's a lot of stuff.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I know, there's a lot of there's a lot of
- 17:51Speaker 1: crops people, there's a lot of.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Crazy people, almost like somebody from Lafayette was just running
- 17:57Speaker 2: around doing it.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Yeah, was it you? They've got this body and they're thinking, Okay,
- 18:08Speaker 1: this has got to be attributed to one of these
- 18:11Speaker 1: serial killers that they're already looking for. Well, they were
- 18:15Speaker 1: wrong about this one, and it will take nine more
- 18:18Speaker 1: years to finally come find out who was this third
- 18:22Speaker 1: serial killer terrorizing Baton Rouge.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Going back to nineteen ninety nine, Baton Rouge, you know,
- 18:29Speaker 2: they're already afraid. The women are disappearing off the interstate,
- 18:33Speaker 2: off the jogging trails, out of their own front yards.
- 18:36Speaker 2: People are breaking into their houses and snatching them out
- 18:38Speaker 2: of there. They're turning up strangled in the ditches in
- 18:41Speaker 2: the bayous out in Whiskey Bay. Two names will eventually
- 18:46Speaker 2: explain most of it, as we have already told you.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Derek Toddley a bricklayer who moves around work crews three
- 18:54Speaker 2: different parishes. So he's he's out and about. He's able
- 18:59Speaker 2: to see like what do you want to call it,
- 19:02Speaker 2: case cases.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Areas that he casing, the joint.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Casing the areas that he's going to commit crimes in well.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And we know from him he had been honing his
- 19:11Speaker 1: skills from he had started off as a peeping tom
- 19:15Speaker 1: and then burglary and then got to where he was
- 19:17Speaker 1: able to break into women's houses. And because of the
- 19:20Speaker 1: work that he did, he was able to move around,
- 19:23Speaker 1: like said, different parishes, and he was familiar with the area,
- 19:27Speaker 1: very familiar with the area because he spent a lot
- 19:29Speaker 1: of time going different places.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Because he was working out there outside, he was able
- 19:34Speaker 2: to survey the area. It's not like he was just
- 19:36Speaker 2: walking and creeping.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And and he can go unnoticed because anytime you see
- 19:40Speaker 1: a worker. We see workers all the time, whether it
- 19:43Speaker 1: be like construction, electricians, ac anything. They can just come
- 19:48Speaker 1: they can be at the houses for out. No one
- 19:49Speaker 1: even notices them because there's like they're supposed to be there,
- 19:52Speaker 1: They're supposed to be fixed up, and they could be
- 19:54Speaker 1: a serial killer.
- 19:55Speaker 2: They could be a pool guy down the road, pool
- 19:57Speaker 2: guy in front of.
- 19:58Speaker 1: The house, someone who does cable possibly cable systems, alarm systems,
- 20:05Speaker 1: who supposedly passed a background chest supposedly.
- 20:09Speaker 2: And then we have Sean Vincent Gillis, who we told
- 20:11Speaker 2: you about last episode, who was a quiet mechanic, but
- 20:15Speaker 2: once he got busted for his crimes, he just opened
- 20:18Speaker 2: up to the police and yeah, he.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Loved talking about his crimes. He was disgusting. He just
- 20:26Speaker 1: very matter of factly just told them everything he did
- 20:30Speaker 1: and almost almost a point of bragging about what he
- 20:33Speaker 1: had done to all.
- 20:34Speaker 2: These scientific way. Yep, now we had all these task
- 20:38Speaker 2: force for them up. The FBI is getting involved. Newspapers
- 20:41Speaker 2: start calling Baton Rouge the serial killer capital of the country.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Which is hard to take from a place like Florida
- 20:48Speaker 1: or California, because they are really Yes, they got tons
- 20:53Speaker 1: of serial killers. Texas even has quite a few serial killers.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I mean California had how many operating that one time?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they were.
- 21:00Speaker 2: The Nightstalker and the Golden State Killer.
- 21:04Speaker 1: We'll see. The thing was about these is they were
- 21:07Speaker 1: nineteen ninety mid nineteen nineties to early two thousands, like
- 21:11Speaker 1: that's there was like all those serial killers back in
- 21:14Speaker 1: the seventies and eighties, but we don't have a lot
- 21:18Speaker 1: in recent time, you know that are really active except
- 21:22Speaker 1: for here.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Well that's kind of rough now with all the DNA
- 21:24Speaker 2: catching everybody. Yeah, forty years ago, they got you now,
- 21:28Speaker 2: all right.
- 21:29Speaker 1: So in nineteen ninety nine, a woman named Florida Edwards
- 21:33Speaker 1: is murdered and her remains are left in sight in
- 21:35Speaker 1: abandoned building. She's thirty six years old. She's been strangled
- 21:39Speaker 1: and beaten. But with all the murders around the town
- 21:44Speaker 1: and the Sarah killers her, they really had no suspects
- 21:48Speaker 1: for her. She was just kind of attributed to another
- 21:51Speaker 1: body being found at this time because they didn't know
- 21:54Speaker 1: in ninety nine nine, they didn't know about Derek Todd
- 21:56Speaker 1: Lee or Sean Vincent Gillis. So she's just kind of
- 22:00Speaker 1: one of these ones where they didn't know where to
- 22:02Speaker 1: go in the investigation. And unfortunately, with as many murders
- 22:07Speaker 1: that were happening in this time, in that size of
- 22:09Speaker 1: a city. They also just don't have the resources to
- 22:14Speaker 1: I mean there's limited funds, limited cops, limited investigators to
- 22:19Speaker 1: look into every one of these all right. Next up,
- 22:21Speaker 1: in July two thousand and one, a second woman, Sylvia Cobb,
- 22:25Speaker 1: who was also thirty six, is murdered in Baton Rouge.
- 22:28Speaker 1: So she follows the same pattern as Florida Edwards. She strangled,
- 22:34Speaker 1: she's beaten, but this time the killer does make a
- 22:37Speaker 1: mistake and he leaves behind a beer can at the scene.
- 22:40Speaker 1: And this might this is gonna be his eventual undoing,
- 22:44Speaker 1: because on that beer can there is a this dirty bastard,
- 22:49Speaker 1: he left a greasy fingerprint that they were able to pull.
- 22:54Speaker 1: They run it. However, nothing matches, but at least they
- 22:57Speaker 1: have a print now.
- 23:00Speaker 2: No. Tember twenty sixth, two thousand and six, a man
- 23:03Speaker 2: is pulled over in Baton Rouge for a routine traffic violation. Kara,
- 23:07Speaker 2: I don't know if it was speeding when it stops
- 23:09Speaker 2: on what they didn't say, but.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Apparently it was seriously serious enough for him to get.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Well pulled over. But whenever they after that, then something
- 23:18Speaker 2: else went down. We don't know what that is, whether
- 23:21Speaker 2: it was DWI or something else. He gets arrested during
- 23:24Speaker 2: that traffic stop, so those fingerprints get run. Kara, there's
- 23:28Speaker 2: a match. That print matches a print found on a
- 23:33Speaker 2: beer can in two thousand and one.
- 23:35Speaker 1: This is why I think it might have been a DBI,
- 23:37Speaker 1: because he was obviously drinking whenever he murdered someone, and
- 23:41Speaker 1: he was driving there, So I'm guessing his he likes
- 23:45Speaker 1: to partake as Mania did back in that.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Day, and I'm over had an open container up there
- 23:50Speaker 2: in the front drinking, does a breath, lies or probably
- 23:54Speaker 2: gets booked, That's what I'm guessing. None of the new
- 23:57Speaker 2: stories I read said anything about no why he was
- 24:00Speaker 2: actually arrested during the stop. The dectives bring him in
- 24:05Speaker 2: and according to the police, he denies that he ever
- 24:08Speaker 2: knew Selvia Cobb. He denies knowing Florida Edwards.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yeah, because even though they had apparently him this beer can,
- 24:17Speaker 1: they can't explain that. Anybody can explain away that beer
- 24:19Speaker 1: can be there. You can literally throw it out the wind,
- 24:22Speaker 1: throw it out the window, I mean, just because it's
- 24:23Speaker 1: near her body. So without any more evidence, they're not
- 24:28Speaker 1: going to be able to keep him on the murders
- 24:30Speaker 1: or anything like that.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I as a non attorney, could get him off on that.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And yeah it's I mean, let's be honest, it's just
- 24:36Speaker 1: a beer can laying near the scene, crime scene or whatever.
- 24:39Speaker 1: It really could he could really not be done. I
- 24:42Speaker 1: mean we know he did it, or we know he
- 24:44Speaker 1: did it, but yeah, it could just be litter. Because
- 24:47Speaker 1: today I was driving home and this fucker knew he
- 24:52Speaker 1: was like just by the way he was driving. He
- 24:54Speaker 1: was driving like real aggressive and stuff, and then he
- 24:56Speaker 1: threw his gatoried bottle out, just threw it out, just
- 24:59Speaker 1: litter like that.
- 25:00Speaker 2: It's mild as it is.
- 25:02Speaker 1: There's trash everywhere, and it's flat, everything collects and everything.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Let's not make it any worse. Maybe he's just like
- 25:09Speaker 1: if it.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Just wind hare just takes everything and pushes it somewhere else.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yes, in our front like flower bed, there's always random
- 25:15Speaker 1: trash from Yeah it's it's.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Fast food, wrappers, cups, you name it.
- 25:23Speaker 1: So with no way to keep Jeffrey guillory or even
- 25:28Speaker 1: if he, I mean, they're probably questioning themselves is he
- 25:30Speaker 1: even the guy that we're looking for? The case stalls
- 25:33Speaker 1: out again. Jeffrey goes back to his normal life, and
- 25:38Speaker 1: everyone's just really focused on Derek Todd Lee because this
- 25:43Speaker 1: is about the right after the time Derek Todd Lee's
- 25:45Speaker 1: case is going on his trial and everything. They've discovered
- 25:49Speaker 1: that they had the second uh serial killer they identified,
- 25:52Speaker 1: and so at this point they're probably thinking, maybe these
- 25:56Speaker 1: other victims just are attributed to them, and this guy's
- 26:00Speaker 1: just happened to be bad luck and have his beer
- 26:02Speaker 1: can show up near a dead body.
- 26:06Speaker 2: On December twenty ninth, two thousand and seven, in Lafayette, Louisiana.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Which we are familiar with.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Yes, and I'm familiar with this area. I didn't know
- 26:15Speaker 2: what happened. I didn't realize this had happened at that
- 26:18Speaker 2: area at this time. I don't think I was living
- 26:20Speaker 2: on that side of town at this time. Anyway, A
- 26:23Speaker 2: woman by the name of Johnny Martinez steps off a
- 26:25Speaker 2: city bus at about six o'clock in the evening after
- 26:28Speaker 2: finishing a work shift. She starts down a wooded trail
- 26:32Speaker 2: that's near the walmart, which I assume is the one,
- 26:35Speaker 2: the old one on the throughway.
- 26:36Speaker 1: That's now closed.
- 26:37Speaker 2: It's now closed.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Yes, they closed that one down. Yes, movie, Yes, Because
- 26:41Speaker 1: if I recall, I do recall there is a bus
- 26:43Speaker 1: stop right there by that one. You know there's a
- 26:46Speaker 1: bus stop though in front of the one off of
- 26:48Speaker 1: Pinhook Pinhook two? Would that be more likely? Is there
- 26:54Speaker 1: wooded area over there?
- 26:55Speaker 2: I got some, I got some like little wooden, but.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I feel like that's more of an open space. One
- 27:00Speaker 1: on the throughway does have more opportunities. I feel like
- 27:03Speaker 1: for someone to do something like this.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the one off Ambassador Caffrey. But anyway,
- 27:10Speaker 2: we digress, we digress. I would have to look it
- 27:13Speaker 2: up and find out. I'm sure if I would read
- 27:16Speaker 2: a story, I could tell you which one it was.
- 27:18Speaker 2: If anybody even cared so he a man approaches her
- 27:23Speaker 2: ask her for bus fare. She said, she reached into
- 27:26Speaker 2: her purse to get some change out, and in that
- 27:28Speaker 2: half second that she looked down, he punches her.
- 27:31Speaker 1: This is why you're not nice to anybody. Everybody, Okay, stop,
- 27:33Speaker 1: just just walk away, Just just go tell them go
- 27:36Speaker 1: fuck off and then walk off. That's what you do.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Don't be nice, take him in the balls and leave. No.
- 27:43Speaker 1: No, that's like the thing that those those girls say
- 27:50Speaker 1: on that back when. I don't know if it's still real.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I'm sure it's still real popular. I used to listen
- 27:55Speaker 1: to it way way back, and then my favorite murder
- 27:57Speaker 1: or whatever they say. They used to say. Pepper Spray
- 28:01Speaker 1: first apologized later, so, yeah, stop being nice to everybody.
- 28:06Speaker 1: We got to stop being nice, all right. It's just
- 28:08Speaker 1: the way of the world these days.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Yes, because she was nice to him, she was gonna
- 28:12Speaker 2: give us some bus fare. He punches her in the face.
- 28:15Speaker 2: He starts dragging her into the woods. She starts fighting back,
- 28:19Speaker 2: and this is whenever she realizes he's bigger. He overpowers her.
- 28:24Speaker 1: He punched her real hard and so hard, yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 2: That her eye is actually swelling.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Shut, so she can't even see out of one and
- 28:30Speaker 1: she just sees the riding on the wall of where
- 28:33Speaker 1: this is headed. So her survival instincts kick in and
- 28:38Speaker 1: she decides to just go limp and so he can
- 28:41Speaker 1: think that he's overpowered her. She's gone unconscious and he
- 28:44Speaker 1: can he I guess was his plan was to kill her.
- 28:48Speaker 1: So once he thinks that she's dead, he takes off
- 28:51Speaker 1: with her purse and everything and leaves her in the woods.
- 28:54Speaker 1: But she is. She's alive because she pretended. So she
- 28:58Speaker 1: is taken to the hospital where after a couple of days,
- 29:01Speaker 1: she's she remembers everything. She's like, let me talk. I
- 29:05Speaker 1: got someone. She was in a show. I'm trying to
- 29:07Speaker 1: remember what show it was I watched, but it was
- 29:09Speaker 1: she was so funny. Anyways, She's like, I got some
- 29:11Speaker 1: things to say. So she talks to so she's she's
- 29:15Speaker 1: in this episode. I'll have to figure I'll put in
- 29:17Speaker 1: the in the show notes. But she's so funny. She's
- 29:21Speaker 1: sitting there. She said, yeah, I saw him. So she's
- 29:24Speaker 1: explaining him to the cops of what he looked like
- 29:26Speaker 1: or whatever. She said, he had these droopy cheeks, like
- 29:30Speaker 1: droopy dog, old dear dog.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I remember droop dog, Like you're the like from Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 1: So she so she explains him as like a cartoon
- 29:43Speaker 1: character with his droopy face. So she said she remembered everything.
- 29:46Speaker 1: But because of this, so the big break comes from
- 29:50Speaker 1: her stolen ATM card though, so someone's using it. Police
- 29:54Speaker 1: are able to pull a still photo from a Baton
- 29:56Speaker 1: Rooge ATM camera and show it to her, and she said,
- 29:59Speaker 1: that is that motherfucking DROOPI dog. I'm gonna go down.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I don't want you to be like she was fat
- 30:07Speaker 1: or she looked like droopy dog.
- 30:09Speaker 2: She was balding, was balding.
- 30:13Speaker 1: She was trying to speak to me and span.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Three words though in dindo.
- 30:23Speaker 1: A Espanol. Yeah. Anyways, so a detective, so she identifies him,
- 30:34Speaker 1: and a detective recognized his face from an old file,
- 30:37Speaker 1: and so everything's coming back that it's Jeffrey Lee Guillery.
- 30:41Speaker 1: So nine days after the attack, Johnny picks him out
- 30:44Speaker 1: of a photo lineup, which you know I did that
- 30:47Speaker 1: as well.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Stot tell that story someday.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Yes, And so she is like, just like me, similar
- 30:54Speaker 1: to me, an American hero shoplifter, No, a shoplifters, armed robberies.
- 31:04Speaker 1: They could have shot somebody.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yes, it was an empty store.
- 31:09Speaker 1: No it wasn't empty. No it wasn't empty.
- 31:14Speaker 2: They held up the Yes, they had held up.
- 31:17Speaker 1: This had been going on. They started in Fort Worth
- 31:19Speaker 1: and they'd been working their way over I don't know
- 31:21Speaker 1: how many days or weeks, and they'd been holding people
- 31:25Speaker 1: up at gunpoint. They went to like it's like a
- 31:27Speaker 1: federal crime what they did. This wasn't like small potato stew.
- 31:31Speaker 2: This was a situation. So what you're saying is you're
- 31:34Speaker 2: in danger in myself, and yes, right now, by explaining
- 31:37Speaker 2: all this because they're probably.
- 31:39Speaker 1: They're probably already out anyway. So she was like one
- 31:42Speaker 1: hundred percent certain this is droopy Dog that attacked me.
- 31:48Speaker 1: So yeah, this is a major break obviously in the case.
- 31:53Speaker 1: So now we have her identifying him, and then we
- 31:58Speaker 1: have this fingerprint. Remember from five years earlier that that
- 32:03Speaker 1: alone wouldn't put him in jail, but now we've got
- 32:05Speaker 1: two things.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Now with this instance, they picked him up, they were
- 32:09Speaker 2: able to get his DNA, put it in the system,
- 32:11Speaker 2: and once his DNA was in the system, everything starts
- 32:14Speaker 2: moving quickly. The crime rat lab runs, you can't even talk.
- 32:19Speaker 2: The crime lab runs like droopy dog old evidence and
- 32:23Speaker 2: gets two hits, one for Florida Edwards in nineteen ninety
- 32:26Speaker 2: nine and one for Renee Newman in two thousand and two.
- 32:29Speaker 2: On December sixteenth, two thousand and nine, Gaillery is arrested
- 32:34Speaker 2: and charged with three counts of murder. He's interrogated for
- 32:37Speaker 2: five hours Kara and he denies everything. He said, I
- 32:41Speaker 2: didn't do.
- 32:41Speaker 1: It, and two thousands the dog said I didn't.
- 32:44Speaker 2: I didn't do it.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Now I can how it does droopy dog sound?
- 32:47Speaker 2: Oh? He sounds old Drew by Doe like that.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I was just thinking, I was just recalling how the
- 32:53Speaker 1: lady how Johnny Johnny Martinez said it on the thing
- 32:56Speaker 1: droopy Dog.
- 33:00Speaker 2: In twenty ten, Kara he is convicted for the Lafayette
- 33:05Speaker 2: attack on Johnny Martinez. He sentenced to fifty years for that.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Well, thank god, because sometimes you know those things where
- 33:11Speaker 1: they don't kill him and they're like, oh, well, you
- 33:12Speaker 1: didn't really get it all the way, even though you've tried.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Really hard, tried to kill her, but you couldn't see.
- 33:16Speaker 1: So we'll just give you.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Five years probation, go try it again.
- 33:20Speaker 1: So that's a good that's a good sentence for that
- 33:23Speaker 1: fifty years. I think that's awesome.
- 33:24Speaker 2: The attempted murder. That same year, prosecutors do in Diet
- 33:28Speaker 2: him for Renee Newman's murder because I'm guessing that they
- 33:32Speaker 2: charged this one first because they had the most standalone evidence,
- 33:35Speaker 2: the most physical evidence that they could directly tie Jeffrey
- 33:39Speaker 2: get at this point with no circ not much circumstantial.
- 33:43Speaker 2: A lot of it was physical stuff.
- 33:44Speaker 1: That tied him to it, Yes, DNA and things like that,
- 33:46Speaker 1: because at this point he's already in prison for fifty years.
- 33:49Speaker 1: They got him for that so he ain't getting out,
- 33:51Speaker 1: and so they just well, I mean, he could, but
- 33:54Speaker 1: at this point they even even with one more murder,
- 33:58Speaker 1: if they got one murder conviction, the best one, even
- 34:00Speaker 1: they couldn't get him for all of the ones that
- 34:02Speaker 1: he did, then he's going to be in prison for
- 34:04Speaker 1: the rest of his life, which is the goal.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Yes, And now, in September twenty eleven, a jury hears
- 34:10Speaker 2: all this evidence, including Jeffrey Gillery's statements, and they deliberate
- 34:15Speaker 2: for less than an hour before convicting him. That December,
- 34:18Speaker 2: a judge sentences Guillery to life in prison without parole. Yeah.
- 34:25Speaker 1: So he was never tried for the Sylvia Cobb or
- 34:29Speaker 1: Florida Edwards murders because there just wasn't enough of that
- 34:34Speaker 1: DNA evidence to tie to it. Although they in the
- 34:37Speaker 1: investigator's eyes, it's that he did it. They know, yeah,
- 34:40Speaker 1: they know he did it. Yes, And apparently there are
- 34:44Speaker 1: from that time frame over that decade, there's still ten
- 34:47Speaker 1: unsolved murders of women in that time so there could
- 34:50Speaker 1: have been a fourth stew We don't know these none
- 34:53Speaker 1: of them were tied to any of them, in which
- 34:55Speaker 1: at this point I feel like they would have just
- 34:56Speaker 1: already admitted to killing them if they did, especially old
- 34:59Speaker 1: Gilli because he just loved talking about it. But what
- 35:02Speaker 1: I mean, what does Derek Todd Lee have to lose
- 35:06Speaker 1: at this point or this? Uh? Oh yeah, he's dead,
- 35:09Speaker 1: so he had yes or gillery at this point. So yeah,
- 35:14Speaker 1: there could be another one out there. It could be four.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Wouldn't that be crazy if they found another one and
- 35:18Speaker 1: he had moved to a different place like Florida. You know,
- 35:23Speaker 1: I'm tired of all these men killing women. You know,
- 35:26Speaker 1: where's it? We need an Aileen Waros back. Why are
- 35:28Speaker 1: they Why they got to put her? Why they gotta
- 35:30Speaker 1: put her down?
- 35:31Speaker 2: Now?
- 35:31Speaker 1: All these men just sit on death row forever? And
- 35:33Speaker 1: then for some reason, Eileen, we got to fast track that,
- 35:37Speaker 1: you know.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't understand she was just doing.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Uh, we need to do a Did we do a
- 35:43Speaker 1: deep dive into that? We didn't cover hers? Did we?
- 35:46Speaker 1: We just talked about it? When did we talk? We
- 35:49Speaker 1: must have talked about that on Shoot the Poop? We didn't. Actually, no,
- 35:52Speaker 1: we did we cover that? No?
- 35:53Speaker 2: We didn't know?
- 35:54Speaker 1: We didn't. We should we should cover Eileen Warners because
- 35:59Speaker 1: she's you know, heroes. He Oh, we talked about because
- 36:03Speaker 1: I wanted to go to that bar where she said,
- 36:05Speaker 1: she wrote Eileen Warnos was here and we missed it.
- 36:08Speaker 1: It was over there by Daytona or whatever. Yeah, anyways,
- 36:13Speaker 1: do you have a yeall need Jesus?
- 36:15Speaker 2: Of course I do.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Okay, I think I was talking to you about Eileen
- 36:19Speaker 1: Warnos and how wrong it was what they did to her.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Because the guy that she said, the first guy that
- 36:25Speaker 1: she said tried to rape her or whatever he was allowed.
- 36:29Speaker 1: He apparently had been in the oh yes, that was it,
- 36:32Speaker 1: and the prosecutor knew this. He had been in a
- 36:36Speaker 1: mental institution back like twenty years before for the exact thing,
- 36:41Speaker 1: like trying to sexually assault women. And he'd been institutionalized
- 36:45Speaker 1: for a while. And he even said, if you let
- 36:47Speaker 1: me back out, I'm gonna do this again. And she
- 36:49Speaker 1: told she told them he tried to rape me or whatever,
- 36:52Speaker 1: and nobody believed her, and she said, I killed him.
- 36:55Speaker 1: You know. Anyways, we should definitely do Eileen Warnos. I
- 36:58Speaker 1: think that would be a good one. It happened Florida.
- 37:00Speaker 2: You think, yeah, all.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Right, do you have your y'all need Jesus of course? Okay, Stuart,
- 37:08Speaker 1: you just looked it up. I was covering for you
- 37:11Speaker 1: with the Eiland Warno stuff. Okay, all right, go ahead one.
- 37:16Speaker 1: You don't have one. Oh my god, I thought you
- 37:18Speaker 1: had it. Lord, I should have saved my books. Talking
- 37:22Speaker 1: about my books right now, Well, let me think about
- 37:25Speaker 1: what else I'm talking about. Oh, we're trying to use up.
- 37:27Speaker 1: So if you follow me on the social media, is
- 37:31Speaker 1: we are trying to use up all of our groceries
- 37:34Speaker 1: in the house. So I'm getting real inventive with the meals.
- 37:35Speaker 1: And let me tell you what I've come up with.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Some really good stuff. Though thing we had tonight. The
- 37:39Speaker 1: uh I pronounced it, I've said positive faggiol. I'm surprised
- 37:44Speaker 1: I didn't get it flagged. It's it's a fagio. I
- 37:50Speaker 1: think you can call it fajoli or or fuzzoole or
- 37:54Speaker 1: something like that if you in the American way, or
- 37:56Speaker 1: whatever you say it. Anyways, it basically means posten beans.
- 38:00Speaker 1: And so I made that today in the crock pot.
- 38:02Speaker 1: And then I made this delicious bread. It was like
- 38:05Speaker 1: a no knee bread. So you just had to mix
- 38:07Speaker 1: it up in the morning, you put it in the
- 38:09Speaker 1: fridge and when you get home you just throw it
- 38:10Speaker 1: in a hot Dutch oven and bake it for like
- 38:13Speaker 1: forty five minutes. It was extremely good. Something else once
- 38:18Speaker 1: she's trying to frantically find his y'all need Jesus over
- 38:22Speaker 1: there is if you this is not this is something
- 38:26Speaker 1: I uh not like a sponsored thing that I'm just
- 38:29Speaker 1: trying to slip in on you guys. Those ew I've
- 38:33Speaker 1: been there, those bricks. I have to say, if you
- 38:38Speaker 1: have a problem, I gotten to where I've gotten like
- 38:40Speaker 1: doom scrolling and stuff like that, and so I got
- 38:43Speaker 1: me one of them bricks. And so what you do
- 38:47Speaker 1: is you have this little brick, and so you can
- 38:48Speaker 1: set it for different schedules. So basically I only have
- 38:53Speaker 1: it available. I locked myself out of social media for
- 38:56Speaker 1: most of the day, and so I only have it
- 38:58Speaker 1: open to like record my little dinner videos or something
- 39:02Speaker 1: like that. But you have to physically go tap this
- 39:04Speaker 1: brick that you can put wherever and unlock it so
- 39:07Speaker 1: you can actually see your social media or whatever. But anyways,
- 39:11Speaker 1: it's really helped. So as soon as I'm done, I
- 39:12Speaker 1: always just brick my phone and then if I want
- 39:15Speaker 1: to go use it stops the mindless scroll links. So
- 39:20Speaker 1: because you know, I'll just pick up my phone be
- 39:21Speaker 1: like automatically, just be like, oh, what's going on over
- 39:23Speaker 1: here on Instagram or TikTok or whatever, And the next
- 39:26Speaker 1: thing you know, they've got me. And I'm at midnight.
- 39:28Speaker 1: I'm like going through reels, like laughing and then crying
- 39:32Speaker 1: and then yes, so, anyways, did you find it?
- 39:37Speaker 2: I found one, but I don't remember if we'd done it.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Sounds like, okay, we'll just do it. It's late. We
- 39:41Speaker 1: got to go.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Residents, Now, this sounds like something we did. Thank redo it.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Yes, let's just read. We don't have any more time.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I can't think of anything else to say.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Residents have been sentenced in a bizarre insurance fraud scheme,
- 39:56Speaker 2: which prosecutor say involve them staging fake attacks on high
- 40:01Speaker 2: end cars.
- 40:02Speaker 1: No, we haven't done this one.
- 40:03Speaker 2: You don't think.
- 40:04Speaker 1: No, we haven't done this one. Not Florida, not Florida.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Three southern California residents. It all stems from a claim
- 40:12Speaker 2: the suspects filed with their insurance companies saying a bear
- 40:15Speaker 2: got into their car a twenty ten Rolls Royce ghost
- 40:20Speaker 2: at Lake Arrowhead. I've been there, not in a Rolls
- 40:24Speaker 2: Royce Ghost but Lake Arrowhead on January twenty eighth, twenty
- 40:28Speaker 2: twenty four, and damage inside with scratches. The California Department
- 40:32Speaker 2: of Insurance said the suspects provided a video to the
- 40:35Speaker 2: company which showed the bear in the car. An investigation
- 40:40Speaker 2: into the claim dubbed operation bear Claw took a close
- 40:46Speaker 2: should do that motion? Because in boot camp, whenever they
- 40:51Speaker 2: were learning drill close order to drill with your weapon,
- 40:53Speaker 2: you'd bring it up and they'd say bear claw, bear claw.
- 40:58Speaker 2: That was the bear claw.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Position, doing sort of motion where he grabs his elbow.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Good you guys, because you guys can't see.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Yes, anybody that's ever been in the Marine Corps boot
- 41:06Speaker 2: camp knows bear claw.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Okay, well, I'm sure that one person knows that.
- 41:12Speaker 2: They took a closer look at the video and they
- 41:14Speaker 2: found that the bear was actually a person in a
- 41:17Speaker 2: bear costume. The insurance department said.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Wait, maybe we did do this. I kind of remember this, That's.
- 41:24Speaker 2: What I got halfway through reading it. But then you
- 41:26Speaker 2: were like, no, dude. Investigators then took the video to
- 41:30Speaker 2: biologists with the California Department of Fishing Wildlife to look
- 41:33Speaker 2: also look at the video. The biologist said it was
- 41:36Speaker 2: clearly a human in a bear suit. Investigators uncovered two
- 41:41Speaker 2: other fraudulent claims submitted to different insurance companies regarding the
- 41:46Speaker 2: same incident. On Thursday. I'm gonna f this name up
- 41:53Speaker 2: at al Fia Zuckerman, aged thirty nine, a Valley Village,
- 41:57Speaker 2: Reuben tamra Zian of Glendale, and they murdered Adukian thirty
- 42:06Speaker 2: two of Glendale, were sentenced to one hundred and eighty
- 42:08Speaker 2: days in jail in order to pay restitution. Fourth suspect,
- 42:12Speaker 2: Ara rat Age thirty nine, Glendale, still has a penion case.
- 42:19Speaker 2: They hit the insurance company Kara for one hundred forty
- 42:22Speaker 2: one thirty nine. Oh my god, what their fake bearst's
- 42:27Speaker 2: claw claw?
- 42:30Speaker 1: Oh my god? All right, well that's what we have.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't feel like maybe you didn't
- 42:37Speaker 1: do this one, because I feel like I would have
- 42:38Speaker 1: remembered you going bear claw over and over again.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Well I don't remember all these names.
- 42:44Speaker 1: No, I don't remember. Maybe you just told me about
- 42:46Speaker 1: it or something and we never did it. Because I
- 42:48Speaker 1: don't remember, I feel like you would have said the
- 42:50Speaker 1: same thing bear claw over and over again and done
- 42:52Speaker 1: that motion and I would be like Operation Claw. I
- 42:55Speaker 1: need to leave this man anyways, please for the love
- 42:59Speaker 1: of it. All right, so that is our case for
- 43:03Speaker 1: this week. We were done. We have wrapped up the
- 43:05Speaker 1: serial killers. So if you didn't like this, I'm sorry,
- 43:08Speaker 1: but it's over now, Okay, we'll go back to our one.
- 43:13Speaker 1: I was say about doing something way back in the day.
- 43:15Speaker 3: That I do.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Relations. Oh, it's over, it's over.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Anyways, I was saying about doing one like an older one,
- 43:24Speaker 1: because I started thinking about the X Men of New Orleans.
- 43:27Speaker 1: But we already cut. We already did that one. We
- 43:29Speaker 1: did that one. So I say about looking at another
- 43:32Speaker 1: case from I like looking at the ones from way
- 43:34Speaker 1: back in the day, like in the fifties and stuff.
- 43:37Speaker 1: So anyways, all right, well.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Ott girl from Alabama that we just covered not too
- 43:43Speaker 2: long ago, which one she was the serial she was
- 43:47Speaker 2: poisoning her? How was that girl's name? Over?
- 43:54Speaker 1: I don't remember, you're just looking at me. I don't remember.
- 43:58Speaker 1: We covered the case.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Yes, oh, she tried to she killed her husband, tried
- 44:02Speaker 2: to kill her son.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah with arsenic or
- 44:07Speaker 1: oh yeah, but it wasn't like that long ago.
- 44:10Speaker 2: I don't think I want to say it was back
- 44:11Speaker 2: on the sixties or seventies.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Oh anyways, okay, well, okay, all right, I gotta go,
- 44:18Speaker 1: I gotta go.
- 44:18Speaker 2: I gotta go to work Saturday.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Some of us have to work around here. All right.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Well we uh don't forget the Patreon. Everything's in the

- 44:50Speaker 2: It's sick. This word can
