- 0:00Speaker 1: I pitched to Mr. Beast and he said yes. Can
- 0:02Speaker 1: we collab? I've got an idea. I've been pitching to
- 0:04Speaker 1: people for years. Today, I'm going to walk you through
- 0:06Speaker 1: the play-by-play behind how I created an opportunity to pitch
- 0:09Speaker 1: to Mr. Beast, made the pitch count, and ultimately walked
- 0:12Speaker 1: out the room with a win. The first thing I
- 0:13Speaker 1: want to teach you is that luck is something you
- 0:15Speaker 1: have to be prepared for. And in this particular case,
- 0:18Speaker 1: I wasn't that prepared because I wanted to go to
- 0:20Speaker 1: the toilet. The toilet's here. But I'll tell you who
- 0:22Speaker 1: was prepared. My cameraman, Dudley. He left the camera running
- 0:25Speaker 1: and guess what? Luck struck and we were ready. Mr. Beast,
- 0:30Speaker 1: what's your dream? What's up? What's your dream? I'll be
- 0:32Speaker 1: the biggest YouTuber ever. Can we collab? I've got an idea.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna see you later. Now, the second lesson I'm
- 0:38Speaker 1: gonna teach you, doors will close on you even when
- 0:40Speaker 1: you've had luck. There was Mr. Beast, the door closed,
- 0:43Speaker 1: the opportunity left. So what did I do next? And
- 0:46Speaker 1: this is the second lesson I need to teach you.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I figured out who else Mr. Beast was in town
- 0:50Speaker 1: with and I reached out to him. If you want
- 0:58Speaker 1: to reach someone, you need to figure out everything about them.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Who are their friends? Who's walking their dog? Get to
- 1:03Speaker 1: know their network. Because if you can't get direct to
- 1:06Speaker 1: the person you want to speak to, you can go
- 1:08Speaker 1: direct to the people that know them and have the
- 1:09Speaker 1: relationship to get you in there. Every big deal I've
- 1:11Speaker 1: ever done has had gatekeepers. The third point I want
- 1:20Speaker 1: to teach you here is that you need to be patient.
- 1:23Speaker 1: We're going straight down to the next appointment from here.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Two minutes as well, just quick two minutes. Yeah. Three
- 1:32Speaker 1: years I've been trying to get hold of Mr. Beast.
- 1:34Speaker 1: This is three years. Every time you ever get a sale,
- 1:36Speaker 1: especially a big deal like I'm about to do here,
- 1:39Speaker 1: there will always be big dogs blocking you. So how
- 1:41Speaker 1: do you deal with a roadblock? You basically have to
- 1:44Speaker 1: do the Uno reverse guard, and this is what I mean.
- 1:46Speaker 1: We can walk down with him if it helps. Maybe afterwards.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I've got to go after this, unfortunately. See, this is
- 1:51Speaker 1: the thing that no one teaches you in sales. You're
- 1:53Speaker 1: not there to be submissive. When he says, can I
- 1:56Speaker 1: come back later?
- 1:58Speaker 2: I say no.
- 1:59Speaker 1: No, now that changes the dynamic. That's what you want
- 2:01Speaker 1: gatekeepers to feel like. You want them to feel like
- 2:04Speaker 1: actually this person's important despite the fact they've been chasing
- 2:06Speaker 1: me and I could lose my job if I don't
- 2:08Speaker 1: let them in. The next thing I want to share
- 2:11Speaker 1: in sales is you've got to have empathy for the
- 2:13Speaker 1: person you're selling to. How are you, mate? Good. I
- 2:15Speaker 1: know you're tired. No worries. I appreciate you. These people
- 2:18Speaker 1: are busy no matter who they are. Give them respect.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Where would the best lighting be? This is fine. Don't worry.
- 2:23Speaker 1: You've got to run a minute. And don't be alpha
- 2:25Speaker 1: male when you walk in the room. Connect to people.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Try to be genuine. You're actually one of my inspirations.
- 2:30Speaker 1: But now, an important lesson. Establish why you are in
- 2:33Speaker 1: the room. Establish your authority. I won a million dollars
- 2:36Speaker 1: here last year. They gave me a million dollars cash
- 2:38Speaker 1: and I've been giving it away all year to fund
- 2:40Speaker 1: people's dreams. One of the keys to getting any sale
- 2:42Speaker 1: done is what's happening here. You need to establish synergy
- 2:45Speaker 1: in the businesses. What does the person you're selling to
- 2:48Speaker 1: actually need? What does Mr. Beast need? You could argue nothing,
- 2:52Speaker 1: but what he will always appreciate is someone doing the
- 2:54Speaker 1: same thing that he's doing. You have pioneered a model
- 2:57Speaker 1: where we use YouTube as a platform to inform people,
- 3:00Speaker 1: to educate people, to entertain people. But we're using that
- 3:02Speaker 1: money to fund people's dreams. So I'm establishing one, a
- 3:06Speaker 1: bit of respect for him, which by the way, he
- 3:07Speaker 1: will always mirror. And two, that we have synergy in
- 3:10Speaker 1: our business models. So it's not so much establishing that
- 3:13Speaker 1: he needs me, but it's establishing that we are similar
- 3:15Speaker 1: and that could lead to a connection. For profit, for
- 3:18Speaker 1: good is my model. I just want to make money
- 3:21Speaker 1: and then give that money away to fund people's dreams.
- 3:23Speaker 1: That's the same thing we do. I love it. Exactly, yes.
- 3:25Speaker 1: One of the things in sales that I see so
- 3:27Speaker 1: many people make the mistake to do is they don't
- 3:29Speaker 1: share their personal story. I was 15 years old when
- 3:31Speaker 1: I got kicked out of home. And I was homeless.
- 3:34Speaker 1: And I tried to get a job and I couldn't.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And then I went to social services for help and
- 3:37Speaker 1: they told me no because I was a man and
- 3:39Speaker 1: I should just get on with it. And so I
- 3:40Speaker 1: had to start a company. But no one ever taught
- 3:41Speaker 1: me that at school that it was possible to take
- 3:43Speaker 1: an idea from my head and make it real. And
- 3:45Speaker 1: I want that taught in schools. And so that's my
- 3:48Speaker 1: dream to teach people that, a fixed education system. Why
- 3:50Speaker 1: you're in that room and why you are personally driven
- 3:53Speaker 1: to sell something or do something matters. By sharing your
- 3:56Speaker 1: personal story, if that person doesn't relate or care, maybe
- 3:59Speaker 1: you don't want the deal. And that's just as important
- 4:00Speaker 1: as getting the deal. I've become... Semi-famous on social media,
- 4:03Speaker 1: not as famous as you, of course. Now, this is
- 4:05Speaker 1: why I don't like the word sales. Because sometimes it
- 4:07Speaker 1: is indicating you're trying to get a sale. Being famous
- 4:10Speaker 1: is a slightly dangerous thing. I think people have misunderstood it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: What you're actually doing and what I'm trying to do
- 4:14Speaker 1: here is establish a connection. I think it's a sacrifice.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Worth it if you have a mission. One of the
- 4:19Speaker 1: hardest things I've found building a YouTube channel and doing
- 4:22Speaker 1: social media is fame. I personally struggled with it. And
- 4:24Speaker 1: I wanted to speak to someone who probably is one
- 4:26Speaker 1: of the most famous people on the planet and how
- 4:28Speaker 1: he dealt with it. What's your take on fame?
- 4:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, if you had to choose between wealth
- 4:32Speaker 2: or fame, obviously pick wealth because fame. I don't need
- 4:35Speaker 2: to state the obvious. There's a lot of negatives that
- 4:37Speaker 2: come with it. There's obviously a lot of positives. In
- 4:39Speaker 2: my case, I mean, this is all I've ever wanted
- 4:41Speaker 2: was to be a YouTuber, to help people, to entertain,
- 4:44Speaker 2: you know, hundreds of millions of people.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And so for me, it doesn't matter how bad it gets.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I mean, I just love creating content.
- 4:49Speaker 1: It just is what it is. Now, I wasn't doing
- 4:51Speaker 1: it to get the sale closed. I was genuinely interested
- 4:53Speaker 1: in this subject. The point I'm trying to make is
- 4:56Speaker 1: something you have in common can bond you. You are
- 4:58Speaker 1: selling to a person, not a company. What does that
- 5:00Speaker 1: person have in common with you can be a huge
- 5:04Speaker 1: bond to make a deal happen. And that's partly why
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm doing it. Now the pitch. Probably the most important
- 5:09Speaker 1: part of any sales process. The best advice I can
- 5:12Speaker 1: give you is don't blink. One final thing. I want
- 5:16Speaker 1: to help 1,000 people in a video make their dream
- 5:18Speaker 1: a reality.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Wow.
- 5:20Speaker 1: A thousand is quite a bit. What I mean by
- 5:22Speaker 1: don't blink, say it with conviction. Say it like you
- 5:24Speaker 1: believe it. You actually have to believe it in a
- 5:27Speaker 1: court because people can spot bullshit when you're selling to them.
- 5:30Speaker 1: We help two people a day already. We fund them,
- 5:32Speaker 1: we promote them, we support them. We got 10 million
- 5:34Speaker 1: views on the video yesterday that we put out helping
- 5:37Speaker 1: someone's dream. I know with you, a thousand's easy. We
- 5:40Speaker 1: can do it. I have never ever sold anything I
- 5:42Speaker 1: don't believe in. If I pitched him something small and blinked,
- 5:46Speaker 1: he wouldn't do it. I pitched him something big with conviction,
- 5:49Speaker 1: it's likely to happen. Let's do a fun war. Whoever
- 5:52Speaker 1: funds the 1,000 dreams or not when we do the video.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I'll fund them all or you fund them all. Whoever
- 5:56Speaker 1: wins the fun war. Oh, fun war? Fun war, ready?
- 5:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Now in sales, you've probably heard the terminology always be closing.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I have a slight update on this. One, two, three, four.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I declare a fun war. So the real question is,
- 6:08Speaker 1: always be closing what? You have a long thumb. I
- 6:12Speaker 1: found out something people don't know about Mr. Beast. What
- 6:14Speaker 1: do you really want to close when you're pitching? I
- 6:16Speaker 1: just closed a deal with Mr. Beast and I'm going
- 6:19Speaker 1: to make one of the most amazing videos in the
- 6:21Speaker 1: world with your help, helping people dream. But I have
- 6:23Speaker 1: to invest in that relationship. So I am investing millions
- 6:29Speaker 1: of dollars in my relationship with Mr. Beast because I'm
- 6:32Speaker 1: thinking long-term and I'm thinking big. He won! I have
- 6:36Speaker 1: to fund the 1,000 dreams. Don't think instantly what can
- 6:39Speaker 1: you make out of someone. That's fair. Don't wait. It's done.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Do whatever you can to build a relationship with the
- 6:46Speaker 1: person you're selling to. And don't think closing is instantly
- 6:49Speaker 1: getting the contract signed. Closing is instantly building a relationship
- 6:53Speaker 1: and respect for each other over time for any deal
- 6:56Speaker 1: to get done. You're an awesome human being. Thank you
- 6:58Speaker 1: so much for your time. I hope you get some rest.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Most of the people I worked with over the last
- 7:02Speaker 1: 45 years, I can still call them up now and
- 7:03Speaker 1: do a deal with them. Even though they're a different
- 7:05Speaker 1: company and I'm doing a different thing because we built
- 7:07Speaker 1: up respect and trust and we were kind to each other.
- 7:10Speaker 1: We did the right thing. And this is something in
- 7:12Speaker 1: sales I desperately want people to learn. That sales isn't
- 7:14Speaker 1: about getting the deal instantly. It's about getting a relationship
- 7:17Speaker 1: over time that stands the test of time. There's one
- 7:20Speaker 1: more thing I want to teach you. Keep it laying out.
- 7:22Speaker 1: You're going to help people who don't even realise I
- 7:23Speaker 1: don't think. He almost cost me the deal. But I
- 7:26Speaker 1: must treat him with respect. So I also have to
- 7:28Speaker 1: give him credit for letting me in the room. Because
- 7:30Speaker 1: you know what? Later, they'll have a meeting and they'll
- 7:33Speaker 1: talk about me. They'll talk about how I treated the gatekeeper.
- 7:36Speaker 1: And that gatekeeper's there for a reason. That's perfect. And
- 7:39Speaker 1: that's it, folks. If you want to be one of
- 7:41Speaker 1: the people in the next Beast video with us, let
- 7:43Speaker 1: me know down below.
