- 0:35Speaker 1: Today we're discussing Notes of Autumn, which originally premiered on Saturday,
- 0:39Speaker 1: September sixteenth on the Hallmark Channel. You want to connect

- 1:00Speaker 1: Speaking of numbers, we're always looking to those review numbers.

- 1:06Speaker 1: us your ratings and reviews. And yes, we mean you.
- 1:09Speaker 1: We want to hear from you. What. Speaking of hearing
- 1:13Speaker 1: from people, I have an email. Oh do tell from
- 1:17Speaker 1: Chantal who is writing in reference to a comment you
- 1:21Speaker 1: made on our Guiding Emily episode. Hmm, I'm scared, don't
- 1:25Speaker 1: be in regards to the bandages on Emily's eyes and
- 1:31Speaker 1: how it looks like they were not touching. Mm hmmm,
- 1:34Speaker 1: she says, just listening to your review, not recap lol
- 1:37Speaker 1: of this movie, throwing shade at a recent reviewer. I
- 1:42Speaker 1: think her eyes were bandaged at first, and then later
- 1:45Speaker 1: they looked like they were taped to the inside of
- 1:47Speaker 1: her classes the bandages so maybe just for protection, but
- 1:53Speaker 1: not to completely seal her eyes from the world. Okay,
- 1:56Speaker 1: just a thought, All right, Okay, thanks Chantal for the email.
- 2:00Speaker 2: You know who we haven't heard from or unless you
- 2:02Speaker 2: haven't told me, m correspondent Mike not in a long time.
- 2:07Speaker 2: He always used to email us, like after our shows dropped, Mike,
- 2:11Speaker 2: are you still out there?
- 2:12Speaker 1: Well, he would email us before I had all of
- 2:15Speaker 1: his thoughts to share. Oh that's right, Yeah, where are you?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Big news on the Hallmark front? Yeah, this week Hallmark
- 2:24Speaker 1: dropped their countdown to Christmas Slate you hear this?
- 2:28Speaker 2: That was me yesterday, hyping up the longest blog post
- 2:32Speaker 2: I probably ever written.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and I feel like we just need to have
- 2:35Speaker 1: the rocky music playing behind us for the next three
- 2:37Speaker 1: months because it is time. The season has arrived. Yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 1: So we made a prediction on a recent episode, we
- 2:46Speaker 1: were talking about the slate. We weren't sure what it
- 2:48Speaker 1: was going to look like, and I think I said
- 2:50Speaker 1: twenty five, like it was gonna be in the twenties.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I don't remember what I said. We were wrong, it's
- 2:55Speaker 2: super wrong.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So right before the actual lineup dropped, there was an
- 2:59Speaker 1: article Variety where Hallmark officials came out and said, we
- 3:03Speaker 1: are dropping a full slate of movie since.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yes, suck us forty plus.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So they both were able to get ahead of the strike,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and then they were able to get waivers. And companies
- 3:14Speaker 1: that get waivers are companies that are willing to meet
- 3:18Speaker 1: the rules that sag Aftra has set out. Okay, and
- 3:23Speaker 1: the WGA like they're willing to meet those the demands
- 3:28Speaker 1: that they're making of the networks, and so Hallmark's like, yeah,
- 3:30Speaker 1: we'll do that. So they got waivers to film all
- 3:32Speaker 1: these movies. Wow, which is great news for Hallmark fans.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And not only are they dropping a full slate, it's
- 3:39Speaker 1: their biggest slate ever. Oh really, Yes, there are thirty
- 3:44Speaker 1: one new movies on the Hallmark Channel, nine new movies
- 3:48Speaker 1: on Hallmark Movies, and mysteries, which is forty plus. There
- 3:52Speaker 1: are two Hallmark Movies Now exclusives, and then in order
- 3:59Speaker 1: to build value for the Hallmark Movies Now platform, they
- 4:02Speaker 1: are dropping two movies early on the Hallmark Movies Now
- 4:05Speaker 1: platform that are going.
- 4:06Speaker 2: To be on a different channel, not a different on
- 4:09Speaker 2: a Hallmark channel, they will.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Premiere on Hallmark. So that's forty two movies. There were
- 4:14Speaker 1: two Christmas in July movies as well this year, so
- 4:16Speaker 1: if you want to count that as part of their
- 4:18Speaker 1: Christmas lineup sometimes they do, so that's forty four, but
- 4:21Speaker 1: forty two. Last year we had forty one, Okay, so
- 4:24Speaker 1: their biggest slate ever. All right, Hallmark has really shown
- 4:27Speaker 1: everybody who's boss right now, I guess so. I mean,
- 4:30Speaker 1: there are several that I'm looking forward to. There are
- 4:33Speaker 1: several I am not looking forward to. Stay tuned for
- 4:36Speaker 1: our Countdown, a Christmas preview episode. We're going to run
- 4:39Speaker 1: down each and every one of those movies and our
- 4:42Speaker 1: first impressions of them. Yes, ma'am you ready for a synopsis?
- 4:46Speaker 1: I am? Are you ready? I'm ready? Okay.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Ellie, a pianist gave up her passion and works for
- 4:52Speaker 2: a hotel. Leo a famous author with writer's block who
- 4:57Speaker 2: can't finish highly popular book series. They both decide to
- 5:01Speaker 2: swap places, ending up completely lost in their new surroundings.
- 5:04Speaker 2: This is a terrible synopsis. Yes, I did copy and
- 5:08Speaker 2: paste from I believe the Hallmark website akes. It's not
- 5:14Speaker 2: great if I had to summarize it. Ellie's struggling with
- 5:19Speaker 2: her job, Leo's struggling with his job. They decide, Hey,
- 5:22Speaker 2: we need to change of pace. Let's stay in each
- 5:24Speaker 2: other's apartments in different parts of the country, and then
- 5:30Speaker 2: love ensues.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Yeah, but I would call Leo's a home. It's a
- 5:34Speaker 1: apartment there.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Dude, those home, they were home.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It's gorgeous. Well, I mean Lee, she have that giant
- 5:43Speaker 1: kitchen in what felt like it should be a city
- 5:45Speaker 1: apartment based on the xterior, I don't understand. This movie
- 5:48Speaker 1: was originally titled Fall Swap. Don't hate it.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Actually tell me the name of the holiday. That's what
- 5:55Speaker 2: it was called, the Holiday.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Thinking of Yeah, they Samon Diaz the Holiday, great movie.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I enjoy that movie too.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been a long time since I've seen it.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Another movie with beautiful homes in it. I don't hate
- 6:10Speaker 1: False Swap either. Kind of like it.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Notes of Autumn leans heavily into the music side of
- 6:17Speaker 2: this story.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I have some notes on that in a minute too.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Ashley Williams stars as Ellie. She has eighty one acting credits,
- 6:29Speaker 2: including five more Minutes moments like These Two Tickets to
- 6:32Speaker 2: Paradise and Love Classified, all from twenty twenty two. She
- 6:37Speaker 2: also starred in ten episodes of Amber Brown on Apple TV,
- 6:41Speaker 2: which also starred Sarah Drew from last week's Guiding Emily Well,
- 6:46Speaker 2: and now I feel like I need to watch Amber Brown.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I know I've never even heard of that. It's on
- 6:50Speaker 2: Apple TV.
- 6:51Speaker 1: That's one of the streaming sources that I recently canceled
- 6:54Speaker 1: in a fit of We're spending too much money and
- 6:56Speaker 1: this seven dollars monthly charge is going to be what
- 6:59Speaker 1: saves us. You can come over and watch it at
- 7:01Speaker 1: my house. Singer songwriter Debbie Gibson served as an executive producer.
- 7:06Speaker 1: According to TV Fanatic, this is Debbie Gibson's return to Hallmark.
- 7:09Speaker 1: She started produced in Summer of Dreams in twenty sixteen
- 7:12Speaker 1: and in Wedding of Dreams in twenty eighteen. Did you
- 7:15Speaker 1: see either of those? Movies. No, but I love me
- 7:18Speaker 1: some Debbie Gibson.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yeah, Debbie Gibson was the first concert I ever saw
- 7:23Speaker 2: as a child. Exciting. But can I ask you a question.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'm trying this.
- 7:30Speaker 2: My head is getting all mixed up because while watching
- 7:33Speaker 2: this movie, there was a lot of strings playing, right,
- 7:35Speaker 2: A lot of instruments with strings. Did Debbie Gibson play
- 7:39Speaker 2: the violin at some point like in a video?
- 7:43Speaker 1: Oh, I'm kind of getting that electric blue like does
- 7:46Speaker 1: not sound. It's either the Mandela effect or it happened,
- 7:50Speaker 1: because in my mind I can see it me too.
- 7:54Speaker 2: But I did search and could not find anything. So okay,
- 7:57Speaker 2: but I don't, I don't.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Luke McFarland co stars as Leo. Now if you recall
- 8:05Speaker 2: look to look Luke. Luke took a small break I
- 8:13Speaker 2: recall from Channel you know. To me when he left,
- 8:18Speaker 2: it was like I'm out of here a piece. He's
- 8:21Speaker 2: really only gone a year, Like he could have just
- 8:23Speaker 2: not worked in that time and not made this big exit.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Right. Uh yeah, But he also did big, huge things,
- 8:33Speaker 1: I agree, Like he was in Bros.
- 8:35Speaker 2: He was in a show called Platonic on Apple TV
- 8:39Speaker 2: that I love. I had read that he was even
- 8:42Speaker 2: offered a role in the mega summer hit Barbie Oh,
- 8:46Speaker 2: but declined because of conflicts. I don't think he was
- 8:49Speaker 2: going for the Ryan Gosling role, but he could have been. Again, yeah,
- 8:53Speaker 2: a Ken, Oh my gosh, that's so funny. Additionally, McFarland
- 8:57Speaker 2: and his partner recently welcomed a baby girl named Tess
- 9:01Speaker 2: in June of this year.
- 9:02Speaker 1: How cute is that name? Right?
- 9:04Speaker 2: So I have to wonder why is he back at
- 9:06Speaker 2: Hallmark if he's like killing the game outside of the
- 9:10Speaker 2: Hallmark network. Did they make him an offer he couldn't refuse,
- 9:14Speaker 2: or maybe they're like.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Look, we want you to be able to tell the
- 9:16Speaker 1: stories you want to tell, so look at this role
- 9:20Speaker 1: that we think you might love.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Okay, totally fair. But he's playing a straight person in
- 9:26Speaker 2: Countdown to Christmas. I think he's playing a straight person
- 9:29Speaker 2: in Countdown to Christmas. I don't know for sure.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Okay, So look, Wendy and I had this discussion yesterday.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I don't think there were any sour grapes when he
- 9:38Speaker 1: left the network. I think you know, he wasn't under
- 9:41Speaker 1: contract with Hallmark, and he was like, they've been good
- 9:43Speaker 1: to me. I made a lot of cool roles, but
- 9:45Speaker 1: maybe there's more out there. And I think he's discovered
- 9:49Speaker 1: that there is more out there. He can do both.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I think the beauty of Hallmark is that they filmed
- 9:54Speaker 1: so quickly right that he's like, yeah, I'm going to
- 9:57Speaker 1: come back for two weeks and make this movie in
- 9:58Speaker 1: two weeks and make that movie, but also make myself available.
- 10:02Speaker 1: And their story is happening. So all these big networks
- 10:06Speaker 1: aren't making movies, but Hallmark is. Yeah, I'm happy to
- 10:09Speaker 1: have him back. Oh me too, Me too, definitely. Marcus
- 10:12Speaker 1: Rossner brings his signature BDE as Sam. We last saw
- 10:15Speaker 1: him as Austin McMurray in the series Ride. He was
- 10:18Speaker 1: also in one of the fan favorite fall movie reviews,
- 10:21Speaker 1: Autumn in the Vineyard, which dropped a few weeks ago
- 10:23Speaker 1: here on Girls Gone Homemark. He's got three Christmas themed
- 10:27Speaker 1: movies in the hopper, according to IMDb. If you follow
- 10:30Speaker 1: Rosner on Instagram, you'll see he's been on a long
- 10:32Speaker 1: road to recovery since major leg surgery November twenty twenty two,
- 10:35Speaker 1: which we discussed on one of our Ride recaps. I
- 10:38Speaker 1: can't think about it too much, like it I have
- 10:41Speaker 1: sympathy pain thinking about the traumatic leg injury and.
- 10:46Speaker 2: The months and months of physical therapy.
- 10:49Speaker 1: But he is starring in two Hallmark Christmas movies, one
- 10:54Speaker 1: airing on Hallmark Movies Now this season. That's correct, You
- 11:00Speaker 1: say this guy's name Peter Porte.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Sure, Peter Portie plays Matt or Mateo if you're his mom.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I'm completely unfamiliar with this actor. But Hamewark fans were
- 11:10Speaker 2: happy he was back. He has fifty acting credits, including
- 11:13Speaker 2: Rome in Love and a Gift for Christmas for Hallmark.
- 11:16Speaker 2: He's also been on Days of Our Lives in CIS
- 11:18Speaker 2: and in the Neil Patrick Harris series I'm Coupled.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Oh hey, I actually like that show. I will say.
- 11:25Speaker 1: My husband was like, hey, he's on my soap opera
- 11:28Speaker 1: when he walked in there. Oh really. When Calls the
- 11:30Speaker 1: Heart stars Pascal Hutton and Kevin Smith pop up throughout
- 11:33Speaker 1: the movie playing Isabelle and Jack, who are fictional characters
- 11:35Speaker 1: in Leo's novel to play a married couple on When
- 11:38Speaker 1: Calls the Heart? Did I read that note? Nope, that
- 11:43Speaker 1: just came right out of my brain. My god, I'm
- 11:45Speaker 1: like searching, searching, where is it? Where is it?
- 11:49Speaker 2: The script was written by Rick German, who has twenty
- 11:51Speaker 2: seven previous writing credits. His last three movies for Hallmark
- 11:55Speaker 2: were ground Swell, Christmas at Castle Heart, and You Had
- 11:59Speaker 2: Me at Loha, but his last two movies were The
- 12:03Speaker 2: CCB and Danica mckellay Christmas movies for GAFF last year.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I gotta say that would not inspire a lot of
- 12:10Speaker 1: confidence and knocked it out of the park with his
- 12:13Speaker 1: script here agree.
- 12:14Speaker 2: He's also got a John Brotherton Christmas movie in the hopper,
- 12:17Speaker 2: according to IMDb. Interested to see where that one lands now.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Of course, I wrote these notes before the Hallmark dropped there,
- 12:28Speaker 2: so I do remember a John Brotherton movie. I just
- 12:31Speaker 2: can't remember if.
- 12:32Speaker 1: He's the writer. Yes. Troy Scott directed Notes of Autumn.
- 12:36Speaker 1: This appears to be his third movie for the Hallmark
- 12:38Speaker 1: Channel brand. He previously directed The Christmas Ring, All Saints
- 12:42Speaker 1: Christmas last Year, The Christmas Ring from twenty twenty. Many
- 12:46Speaker 1: of his other directorial titles include movies like My Husband's
- 12:49Speaker 1: Killer Girlfriend and My Husband's Deadly Past, Major Lifetime, Wendy
- 12:53Speaker 1: Style Vibes here Loving it.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I still don't understand why we don't get to
- 12:57Speaker 2: review my genre movies we can Girls Gone Lifetime. It
- 13:04Speaker 2: would just require a whole another set of podcasts we'd
- 13:07Speaker 2: have to record, So I'm not a post to that.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Let's pass on that for now. There's too many podcasts
- 13:12Speaker 2: recordings happening right now. I cannot add another movie watching
- 13:15Speaker 2: out there that.
- 13:16Speaker 1: This is not something when Wendy's been asking for in
- 13:18Speaker 1: the background and I've been shutting her down, I'm fully
- 13:21Speaker 1: open to that. It's not total domination. That is what
- 13:25Speaker 1: I'm looking for. That's it for news and notes for
- 13:30Speaker 1: this movie. I think that's a wrap time for first impressions.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Go Wendy, I didn't write you what I'm going.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I did not write one. Okay, tell me yours. B
- 13:45Speaker 2: siy Oh, that's nice.
- 13:47Speaker 1: We'll just go with yours. It's a Girls Gone Homework
- 13:53Speaker 1: first there. All right, let's jump in right to what
- 13:57Speaker 1: we liked about Notes of Autumn.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I personally loved how they worked Leo's book characters into
- 14:04Speaker 2: this movie. Yeah.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I thought it was fun and charming. Yes, agree. The
- 14:10Speaker 1: nice thing about those scenes is hardcore Hallmark movie fans
- 14:15Speaker 1: will super appreciate those moments, like you know, the Cavin Smith,
- 14:20Speaker 1: Pascal Hutton history and that they play these characters on
- 14:22Speaker 1: one calls the Heart and now they're playing these you know,
- 14:25Speaker 1: Regency romance characters on screen. But you didn't have to
- 14:29Speaker 1: be a Hallmark fan who appreciate those kind of cheesy
- 14:32Speaker 1: romance interludes. And I'm glad they carried it through the
- 14:36Speaker 1: whole movie. It wasn't just that it was so fun.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I liked it. McFarlane and Ashley Williams are magical together
- 14:44Speaker 1: as besties. I agree, and I spent the first like
- 14:49Speaker 1: sixty percent of the movie being like mm, but I
- 14:51Speaker 1: want more of them together, and then we get more
- 14:54Speaker 1: of them towards the end they have some more scenes together.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I'm going to talk a little bit more about that,
- 15:00Speaker 1: but I they're actors. I fully believe them as real
- 15:06Speaker 1: life besties that they like and maybe they do like
- 15:08Speaker 1: the Hallmark world is small, but I just felt so
- 15:12Speaker 1: much warmth in their scenes, and I think Ashley Williams
- 15:15Speaker 1: elevates the performances of everyone around her. I think we
- 15:19Speaker 1: need only to look to Ticket to Paradise and how
- 15:22Speaker 1: that's one of Ryan Pavie's finest roles, and I think
- 15:25Speaker 1: he really firm benefited from hearing opposite Ashley Williams. She's
- 15:33Speaker 1: just such a bright light. Yeah, and I think it's
- 15:37Speaker 1: hard to be boring in her presence. I have some.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Notes about her and are wished for. I freaking loved
- 15:45Speaker 2: Peter Porte in this movie. I thought he was fantastic, funny,
- 15:49Speaker 2: quick with his lines. I really enjoyed him as an actor,
- 15:54Speaker 2: and I would love to see him in more Hallmark movies.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Now it's funny like he doesn't have a ton of
- 16:01Speaker 2: Hallmark movies, but like the fans seem to really enjoy it.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I made an impression, So.
- 16:06Speaker 2: I'm like, is he gonna come back with more? Can
- 16:09Speaker 2: we see him with more? I would love to see
- 16:12Speaker 2: him again.
- 16:15Speaker 1: There's a scene where Leo and Matt are walking together
- 16:19Speaker 1: and Matt discloses that he's divorced. He says something about
- 16:23Speaker 1: my ex husband yeah, and Leo goes, oh, you're single,
- 16:28Speaker 1: and I, first of all, the entire scene is magical.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And then they go through and he goes, oh, you're
- 16:32Speaker 1: single too, And I wondered, first of all, that's like
- 16:36Speaker 1: a nice, like, you know, revealing of like I just
- 16:40Speaker 1: gave making a huge wink revealing Like it's you know,
- 16:44Speaker 1: a nice moment where they're like, oh, and I can
- 16:46Speaker 1: be into you, right, But I also feel like there's
- 16:49Speaker 1: a subtle like in the pause in that dialogue, in
- 16:52Speaker 1: that delivery, there is a safe for Hallmark, Oh your
- 16:58Speaker 1: gay moment? Did you read that? Between the lines? I did, like, oh,
- 17:04Speaker 1: I'm actually feeling something here, right. I loved it. I
- 17:10Speaker 1: love that whole scene and just like kind of watching
- 17:13Speaker 1: them like start to fall for each other a little bit.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I just I just enjoyed it. So that's interesting.
- 17:21Speaker 2: That's an interesting note because my next note is that
- 17:24Speaker 2: I enjoyed the slow burn between both couples. Although like
- 17:28Speaker 2: I always want heat, I always want fire, fire chemistry couples,
- 17:35Speaker 2: I did kind of appreciate that, like each couple were
- 17:39Speaker 2: kind of like just getting to know each other and
- 17:41Speaker 2: taking it a little bit slow. There was one scene
- 17:48Speaker 2: that's funny that you mentioned that scene. There was another
- 17:50Speaker 2: scene between Leo and Matt where Leo simply puts his
- 17:54Speaker 2: hand on Matt's chest right here, uh huh. And I
- 17:57Speaker 2: can't remember what it was, but it gave me like
- 17:59Speaker 2: some feelings. Yeah, Like I was like, oh, like that's fiery.
- 18:07Speaker 1: One simple little.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Touch to the chest and it seemed fiery.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Yeah, they had like a light hand hold across the
- 18:14Speaker 1: table at one point.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yeah, like all that stuff kind of like makes me barf,
- 18:18Speaker 2: Like I just hate that in real life anyway, between
- 18:20Speaker 2: any couple, like the cheesy like.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Let me put my arm around. I don't know, I
- 18:28Speaker 1: just I'm so the hand on the chest worked for you,
- 18:30Speaker 1: the hand hold across the table did not.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, can I just stay here though, because I
- 18:35Speaker 2: don't know where else to put it? But I thought
- 18:37Speaker 2: there end of movie kisses between both couples kind of
- 18:42Speaker 2: ho hum.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Yeah, fully disagree, disagree. I got the Luke Peter kiss
- 18:50Speaker 1: was hotter than the Ashley Marcus kiss.
- 18:55Speaker 2: No, I wasn't feeling it only because I was like
- 19:00Speaker 2: I didn't like the whole like split screen, like I.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Just okay, it's fine, Okay, So Ashley loses her luggage
- 19:12Speaker 1: and has to wear Leo's clothes. Yeah, I loved the
- 19:16Speaker 1: whole like, you know men's wear inspired wardrobe they put
- 19:20Speaker 1: her in. Obviously, no way, that's Luke McFarlane's wardrobe. Yeah,
- 19:23Speaker 1: because it was like tailored well to fit her. I
- 19:27Speaker 1: loved all those looks, like in his turtlenecks and blazers
- 19:30Speaker 1: and I just was like, this is I loved every
- 19:34Speaker 1: would wear every single I say, she would weary, totally
- 19:36Speaker 1: would for all for me.
- 19:39Speaker 2: I think I liked Leo's and Matt's storyline better.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 19:45Speaker 2: One comment in our Facebook group gave what I thought
- 19:48Speaker 2: was an excellent suggestion that this movie would have done
- 19:51Speaker 2: better with the sister swap treatment.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yeah from the Facebook group.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Oh, I was like, did you write that movies group?
- 20:00Speaker 1: What do you think about that? So I had it
- 20:02Speaker 1: in my wishes, so I'll just talk about it now.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I saw that suggestion and I really liked it because
- 20:09Speaker 1: I wanted a little bit more time with each couple
- 20:12Speaker 1: and I we well, I don't want to speak for you.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I enjoyed the sister swap. And I think it's interesting
- 20:19Speaker 1: that they called this false swap because we kind of
- 20:25Speaker 1: talked about like, can we get more sister swap, like
- 20:28Speaker 1: you know, Autumn in the City or whatever, and we
- 20:32Speaker 1: haven't gotten that yet and I don't know if we
- 20:35Speaker 1: ever will. But with Ashley Williams, I wonder if this
- 20:38Speaker 1: was like their way of appeasing that audience. So interesting.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I don't know my worry with sister Swap before we
- 20:47Speaker 1: saw it, and my worry with giving this movie that treatment.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Is one of the things that was great about this
- 20:52Speaker 1: movie is the pacing was nice and the dialogue was snappy,
- 20:56Speaker 1: And I worry that now when we stretch them into
- 20:58Speaker 1: two movies, is there an there got it? Yeah? But
- 21:03Speaker 1: I would have loved a little bit more into each
- 21:05Speaker 1: of these Me too, Romance, me Too? That is interesting
- 21:10Speaker 1: full circle with the fall swap. Didn't even think about that?
- 21:14Speaker 1: Are we moving on to what you wished for? Yeah?
- 21:18Speaker 2: I don't understand Sam and Ellie's working relationship.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Hear me out. He's giving tours of like.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Fall Leaves, uh huh, and she's gonna do.
- 21:34Speaker 1: What with her music?
- 21:36Speaker 2: How's that all working together? I don't get it, is
- 21:41Speaker 2: what I'm trying to say. I don't really And furthermore,
- 21:45Speaker 2: it made sense that she would help with the piano
- 21:47Speaker 2: ball given her musical experience, but he who has none
- 21:53Speaker 2: is running the show.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I don't help me understand that. Yeah, I don't understand
- 21:58Speaker 1: why he's the voluntar here that runs that show, right
- 22:01Speaker 1: and Luke just as a fundraiser.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Leo has no experience either, So if she's coming in
- 22:08Speaker 2: to step in for Leo because Leo decides to bounce right,
- 22:13Speaker 2: Leo has no musical.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Experience either, Right, I don't get it. You're looking at
- 22:19Speaker 1: me like I'm crazy. No, I didn't get it either,
- 22:22Speaker 1: And I fully admit that I let those details just
- 22:26Speaker 1: kind of wash over me in this movie. Yeah, sometimes
- 22:28Speaker 1: I get really into that, and sometimes I'm like, you
- 22:31Speaker 1: know what, I'm just enjoying the other stuff so much
- 22:34Speaker 1: that I did not try got to understand those dynamics
- 22:39Speaker 1: because I felt like the Leo Matt made a lot
- 22:44Speaker 1: more sense with what was going on in their lives,
- 22:46Speaker 1: Like he's trying to get away to write this book
- 22:48Speaker 1: and Matt needs a kitchen, Like it made sense why
- 22:51Speaker 1: they were interacting. I think it made less sense.
- 22:54Speaker 2: It made no On the other side, I've.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Kind of already my wishes, and my wishes all center
- 23:02Speaker 1: around just more. I think I wish for more Ashley
- 23:06Speaker 1: and Luke time together. I don't know that I ever
- 23:09Speaker 1: want to see them in a romantic lead, not that
- 23:11Speaker 1: I don't think they could pull it off. They just
- 23:13Speaker 1: have such strong best friend energy for me, and I
- 23:18Speaker 1: want to see more of that. And I just wanted more,
- 23:23Speaker 1: not that it didn't give me enough. I just could
- 23:25Speaker 1: have watched a second movie with these characters, got it?
- 23:28Speaker 1: And I think maybe we're left open for a second
- 23:33Speaker 1: movie with these characters because there's so much left. I
- 23:36Speaker 1: would love that, especially when you have the two couple leads,
- 23:41Speaker 1: it doesn't rely so heavily on a single storyline.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yeah, now, are we too suppose that they all move
- 23:46Speaker 2: to like one city?
- 23:47Speaker 1: Now?
- 23:47Speaker 2: I think so, Okay, that would be so fun to
- 23:50Speaker 2: see a second movie where they're all in the same.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And how the friendships work together.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Right, I'm curious to hear your opinion on my next wish.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I wish Ellie's forgetfulness wouldn't have made her seem inept
- 24:06Speaker 2: mm hmmm.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I don't know she.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Was just forgetful or if she's dealing with like an
- 24:13Speaker 2: undiagnosed add disordered sure, whatever, like Megan is well, you know,
- 24:19Speaker 2: but like I hated, I hated that like her boss
- 24:24Speaker 2: made her seem that she was incapable.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Of working, like yeah, doing her job duties. I don't know.
- 24:32Speaker 2: It just frustrated me, Like I was, like, stop putting
- 24:34Speaker 2: her down for being like forgetful.
- 24:37Speaker 1: For stopping to play the piano. Yes, it frustrated me.
- 24:41Speaker 2: And then additionally, you know, she talks about she had
- 24:45Speaker 2: a I don't know if it was a boss.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Or like a musical.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Conductor or whatever who had told her that she played
- 24:55Speaker 2: music like it was her job, and then that made
- 24:58Speaker 2: her lose like confiden and her ability to play.
- 25:04Speaker 1: It was just touched on.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I think that story needed to be like further fleshed out.
- 25:11Speaker 2: It's just an interesting note how like one comment can
- 25:16Speaker 2: really make like have these lasting effects. I just thought
- 25:21Speaker 2: it would be interesting to, you know, double click into.
- 25:26Speaker 1: That a little bit more. That's all. There's no time
- 25:29Speaker 1: for it in this movie, really, No.
- 25:31Speaker 2: But I think you know, when I talk about like
- 25:35Speaker 2: the Mahogany movies, how we get like a layered depth
- 25:39Speaker 2: with characters, we didn't get as much of that here. No,
- 25:42Speaker 2: And I would be interested in it one more wish
- 25:48Speaker 2: And it's about Ashley Williams. And there are moments in
- 25:51Speaker 2: these movies where I want her to pull back on
- 25:54Speaker 2: her quirky it's like at level twelve sometimes sure, and
- 25:57Speaker 2: I need her to rein it in a little bit,
- 26:00Speaker 2: and you wanted that I needed to At moments it
- 26:03Speaker 2: was like I just love her too over that squirrel, like.
- 26:06Speaker 1: You know, too over the top for me.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Sometimes I enjoy her so very much, but like it
- 26:16Speaker 2: was sometimes hard to watch.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think the undiagnosed ADHD and me sometimes
- 26:22Speaker 1: needs that keep be the squirrel that keeps my eyes
- 26:25Speaker 1: on the screen. Got it. I'm ready for dig to
- 26:28Speaker 1: see that. Okay, I am now ready for Did you
- 26:30Speaker 1: see that I want to talk about I talked about
- 26:34Speaker 1: a minute ago. I said, sometimes I just let those
- 26:36Speaker 1: details wash over me and I don't pay attention. But
- 26:39Speaker 1: here's one detail that I could not let go of.
- 26:41Speaker 1: That is when Ashley in quotation marks is playing the piano. Yes,
- 26:44Speaker 1: I noticed it too, And there's one scene early on
- 26:47Speaker 1: in the movie where she's playing and she has like
- 26:49Speaker 1: a three quarter length sleep and they like the person
- 26:52Speaker 1: playing the piano, you can see their arms, there's no
- 26:54Speaker 1: sleeve and she stands up and like you can see
- 26:55Speaker 1: that there's a full Later on, there's a moment where
- 26:59Speaker 1: the person you can see is wearing the same clothes
- 27:01Speaker 1: it because there's like a reflection in the piano and
- 27:04Speaker 1: they're wearing the same sweater. But in that scene they
- 27:06Speaker 1: may have been wearing the same clothes, but they were
- 27:08Speaker 1: pushed up. And then you flash back to her standing
- 27:11Speaker 1: and anyway, well, I know Ashley wasn't playing it. It's
- 27:13Speaker 1: okay that she's not playing it. No, I know.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Did you see the Facebook comment on this too? No?
- 27:18Speaker 2: Oh so so interesting Okay because I saw the Facebook comment,
- 27:22Speaker 2: same thing, like somebody was like, damn me, you maging
- 27:26Speaker 2: it windy, Like now you have.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Me watching these movies like I saw that. Common things.
- 27:30Speaker 2: So same scene piano, seeing somebody's playing. Whoever's playing the
- 27:34Speaker 2: piano has a red like cabala string on.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Oh.
- 27:37Speaker 2: In the next scene, you see Ashley stand up, she's
- 27:40Speaker 2: wearing a watch.
- 27:41Speaker 1: There's no red cobala spring. Yeah, so there's that. I
- 27:47Speaker 1: have a few as well.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Do you have more of No, When Ellie and Leo
- 27:51Speaker 2: first exchanged keys at the airport, yeah, Ellie has her suitcase. Yeah,
- 27:57Speaker 2: and she like rolls away with her suitcase. But then
- 28:00Speaker 2: like later on, the suitcase is lost. Right did they
- 28:03Speaker 2: meet before they checked their luggage, because to me, it
- 28:06Speaker 2: seemed like they met like as they're getting on their airplanes.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Well, they couldn't have been getting on their airplanes. One
- 28:13Speaker 1: of them would have had to have landed, right, So
- 28:16Speaker 1: we're gonna have to believe that it's Leo who has
- 28:19Speaker 1: landed and Ellie is going to get on her plane. Okay, true,
- 28:24Speaker 1: and then her luggage is then lost.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Okay, fine, but it's carry on. Why is she checking
- 28:29Speaker 2: a carry on?
- 28:31Speaker 1: Yeah? Maybe she had to gate check it. They ran
- 28:33Speaker 1: out of overhead bag space.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Possibly possibly one last note, She says to Sam, they're
- 28:39Speaker 2: like decorating, like for the piano ball. She's like, you
- 28:42Speaker 2: can hollow out the pumpkins and make vases like groundbreaking, groundbreaking.
- 28:47Speaker 1: E've been planning here.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Anyway, there were not a ton of did you see that?
- 28:53Speaker 1: She's the big pian of gourds too much? Are you
- 28:55Speaker 1: the Gordon guy?
- 28:56Speaker 2: No?
- 28:57Speaker 1: Gone, stop it? Please? All right? Well on that now?
- 29:00Speaker 1: Why'd you rate this movie? Three point seven five stars?
- 29:03Speaker 1: Furst stars. Speaking of ratings, we love five stars from
- 29:08Speaker 1: you Our Girl's Gun Hallmark Listeners. How do you do that?
