- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, Catherine, Hi Chelsea.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I am wearing my glasses, my dark glasses like Stevie
- 0:05Speaker 2: Wonder in the daylight, because they're my prescription glasses.
- 0:09Speaker 3: I can.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I've lost four pairs of glasses of the last three,
- 0:12Speaker 2: and I have these new favorite glasses, these Look glasses.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they're like my They transitional are they called?
- 0:18Speaker 4: Okay?
- 0:18Speaker 1: I was calling them transgender for a while, and you look.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Like a serial killer.
- 0:22Speaker 5: Do they like?
- 0:22Speaker 4: They're not orange like they used to be?
- 0:24Speaker 6: Right?
- 0:24Speaker 2: No, that guy from you mean, the guy from SVU,
- 0:27Speaker 2: that guy who wears them, what's his name?
- 0:30Speaker 4: Everyone who wears the transition like kind.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Of green they turned yes, yes, yeah, I got rid
- 0:35Speaker 2: of those. I got rid of those, and now I
- 0:37Speaker 2: have it's this brand called Look. And they sent him
- 0:40Speaker 2: like even Mendez was doing a line with them, so
- 0:42Speaker 2: she sent me a bunch or they sent me a bunch,
- 0:44Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, I love these. I think
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'm going to do something with them because they're nice
- 0:48Speaker 2: and big and they don't touch my face. Yeah, which
- 0:51Speaker 2: is what I want with glasses because otherwise I have
- 0:53Speaker 2: lines and indentations. Anyway, I've lost three pair in the
- 0:56Speaker 2: last two days, so my team is running around like crazy,
- 1:00Speaker 2: is trying to re supplement me, supplement and supplify, supplicate. Listen,
- 1:04Speaker 2: the last few weeks, I am not playing with a
- 1:06Speaker 2: full deck of cards after my foot surgery. I don't
- 1:08Speaker 2: know if I announced I got foot surgery, but yeah,
- 1:11Speaker 2: I think it's whatever. I mean, I pretty much announced everything. Yeah,
- 1:14Speaker 2: I have not been taking my mental my brain plasma
- 1:17Speaker 2: nurrigens and my plasmologens and all my coqu ten because
- 1:21Speaker 2: of the surgery. So I'm a dumb diption.
- 1:24Speaker 4: It is really true. Coqu Ten like helps with the
- 1:26Speaker 4: brain fog.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Brain fog, but I take all of these supplements for
- 1:29Speaker 2: brain fog, and now I know they fucking work. I
- 1:31Speaker 2: don't know which one it is that works, but I
- 1:33Speaker 2: am like, I try to say things and I'm like, wait,
- 1:35Speaker 2: who where what? I can't think of the words I'm
- 1:38Speaker 2: trying to use. And also I'm taking Norco because of
- 1:41Speaker 2: the pain from my foot, and also because I love pills,
- 1:43Speaker 2: and you know, I only get ten, and so I've
- 1:46Speaker 2: spaced them out in a nice way.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's been a little bit of a party
- 1:50Speaker 1: for me.
- 1:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Yeah, Well, I mean that's just what I imagine I'm.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Still not in my house. Everybody still haven't mopped into
- 1:54Speaker 1: my house.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Oh my gosh.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So it's to come back from my European trip to
- 1:58Speaker 1: move into my house.
- 1:59Speaker 4: But no, no, you know, we were talking about this
- 2:00Speaker 4: recently and like I just want to put it in
- 2:02Speaker 4: perspective for the listeners, Like, you bought this house when
- 2:05Speaker 4: twenty show was like four months old.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I bought this house. Yeah, it's twenty twenty five.
- 2:11Speaker 4: As long as people have been listening to the show,
- 2:12Speaker 4: you have owned this house and before.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah oh yeah, yeah, yeah, so that's exciting.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Is there any like update on it?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Do they have an ETA?
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yes, it's in the final stages, and at least now
- 2:25Speaker 2: it is guaranteed work, so there's a warranty on all
- 2:28Speaker 2: of the work. So now that they came in and
- 2:30Speaker 2: fixed everything that my prior contractor fucked up, there is
- 2:33Speaker 2: a warranty on the work so that it will be
- 2:36Speaker 2: professionally done. And then I am hoping to either offload
- 2:39Speaker 2: or rent this house out. I don't want anything to
- 2:41Speaker 2: do with it.
- 2:42Speaker 4: I think, Yeah, the juju there is is not for you.
- 2:45Speaker 4: It's clashing.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I had someone come in and cleanse the house. That's
- 2:49Speaker 2: before before that clearly didn't take. The only thing is
- 2:53Speaker 2: Doug loves Doug loves that house. So maybe I'll let
- 2:56Speaker 2: people rent the house and also be with Doug.
- 2:59Speaker 4: He can you know what I mean, the rental.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he comes with the rental with the comple with
- 3:03Speaker 2: other people too.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Actually, so well that sounds great. Today we have an
- 3:08Speaker 4: awesome guest.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Oh, my boyfriend is here today, you guys, this is
- 3:10Speaker 2: my boyfriend from my long term boyfriend.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I've had a crush on him for years.
- 3:13Speaker 2: He's definitely in my top probably top five of like
- 3:17Speaker 2: actor men that I've ever had a crush on, because
- 3:19Speaker 2: I mean, the other ones are too old to fuck,
- 3:21Speaker 2: like all of the guys I like, like Robertson Niro,
- 3:24Speaker 2: he's passed. Harrison Ford too old like they. I mean,
- 3:28Speaker 2: Harrison Ford is still hot. He's got six facts. So like,
- 3:30Speaker 2: I appreciate that kind of respect, you know what I mean.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I appreciate when men show us the respect that we
- 3:35Speaker 2: show them.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yeah, he's given it.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Women are so taking care of their ship way in
- 3:39Speaker 2: ways that men don't, and then they hit a certain
- 3:41Speaker 2: age they fucking let it rip and it's disgusting.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Harrison.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I was on a beach in Portugal with
- 3:47Speaker 2: my friend from my friend's fiftieth and they all went
- 3:49Speaker 2: in the ocean and there's like five men coming out
- 3:51Speaker 2: of the ocean and five women and I'm like, everybody
- 3:53Speaker 2: stop right there. I go, men, I want you to
- 3:55Speaker 2: take a look at these women. And then I want
- 3:56Speaker 2: you to take a look at your bodies. What are
- 3:58Speaker 2: you thinking? Why do you get to look like that?
- 4:00Speaker 2: And then women are keeping their shit together. It's very
- 4:02Speaker 2: king of queens. Yes, yes, it's very king of queens.
- 4:05Speaker 2: That reminds me any to reach out to Leah Remeniy. I've
- 4:07Speaker 2: had spoken to her in a few months. Wow, one
- 4:10Speaker 2: of my buddies.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Should we get her on the show?
- 4:12Speaker 5: Absolutely, she would love to do the show.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yeah, well she's studying. She's getting a law degree. Really, yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 1: she's fucking amazing.
- 4:19Speaker 5: That's a law degree.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Yeah, that's amazing.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And yeah, so okay, oh my boyfriend, my boyfriend Sea,
- 4:24Speaker 2: I forgot what I was talking about. Okay, So my
- 4:26Speaker 2: boyfriend is Eric Banna. Guys, you know I love him.
- 4:29Speaker 2: And he's here today because he's in a new show.
- 4:31Speaker 2: He's on a new show. He's in a new show.
- 4:33Speaker 2: He's inside me. It's called Untamed and it's on Netflix.
- 4:37Speaker 2: So please welcome my baby, my baby mama A. Welcome
- 4:45Speaker 2: to America. Eric Bana, Welcome to America.
- 4:49Speaker 5: Thanks Chelsea. This is my official welcome.
- 4:52Speaker 1: This is your first. I'm surprised you're here actually, And
- 4:54Speaker 1: here's what I expect.
- 4:55Speaker 8: That customs, you know, like when I'm getting my passports,
- 4:59Speaker 8: would be much better.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the Things have changed a lot since
- 5:01Speaker 2: your last trip over here. Because I know you, you
- 5:04Speaker 2: do come when you have to do press to America.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I know your wife doesn't like to travel, re Becca.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Rebecca doesn't like to travel, but you come.
- 5:11Speaker 5: She came on this trip, actually coached her.
- 5:13Speaker 1: And yeah, are you trying to make me jealous?
- 5:17Speaker 8: No, I'm just pointing out that I managed to, you know,
- 5:19Speaker 8: get her on get her on a plane.
- 5:21Speaker 5: But no, I don't come here too often. I'm mean
- 5:23Speaker 5: you for quite some time. But anyway, it's lovely to see.
- 5:25Speaker 5: It's lovely.
- 5:26Speaker 1: It's always lovely to see. You know who I was
- 5:28Speaker 1: with last night?
- 5:29Speaker 5: No, I don't.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Connie Britten, no way, who Eric starred with in Dirty
- 5:33Speaker 2: John was one of your favorites. We've actually spent a
- 5:35Speaker 2: lot of time on this podcast talking about Dirty John.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I don't know if we had you on to talk
- 5:39Speaker 2: about Dirty John, but Connie is a very close friend
- 5:41Speaker 2: of mine, and we had we were out of friends
- 5:44Speaker 2: the house last night, and I just think that whole story,
- 5:48Speaker 2: you know, Dirty John was just I know Connie was acting,
- 5:52Speaker 2: but she kind of is dinghy like that in real life,
- 5:55Speaker 2: so I always like to remind her that I found it.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I just was like, how did anyone be that stupid
- 6:01Speaker 2: to believe this guy? And I didn't like you playing
- 6:03Speaker 2: that role either, because you know that I have strong
- 6:05Speaker 2: feelings about your acting. You're performing. You know that I've
- 6:08Speaker 2: always had a crush on you. I mean, we've passed
- 6:10Speaker 2: the point of it being an issue. Yeah, because we've
- 6:12Speaker 2: known each other for so many years, so it's not
- 6:15Speaker 2: an issue.
- 6:15Speaker 1: You know, I've met your wife.
- 6:16Speaker 2: I understand you know, so it's not a problem. But
- 6:20Speaker 2: I didn't like seeing you play that kind of character.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Not fair enough.
- 6:24Speaker 8: And I had a lot of people who had had
- 6:26Speaker 8: a visceral physical reaction to me after that, like yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 6:30Speaker 8: Like people would like cross the street and even people
- 6:33Speaker 8: that like in my suburb, you know, coffee shops and stuff,
- 6:35Speaker 8: that just kind of like kind of recoil for a
- 6:39Speaker 8: couple of months, which I took as a good sign. Actually,
- 6:41Speaker 8: you know what, I should play more of those sort
- 6:42Speaker 8: of characters. I want people to recoil when they see.
- 6:45Speaker 6: Me in run.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Well that's better than yeah, being bombarded all the time.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I would imagine you would want to break from people
- 6:50Speaker 2: at some point. I mean I feel like, yeah, that
- 6:53Speaker 2: was a really a repellent character.
- 6:56Speaker 1: But I mean you've played other repellent characters.
- 6:58Speaker 5: Yeah, I love repellent character.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You like that.
- 7:01Speaker 5: I love to be repellent.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I mean the new show that you're on is Untamed.
- 7:04Speaker 2: It's on Netflix, it's already started streaming, and that I
- 7:07Speaker 2: like because you were on a horse immediately on the gate.
- 7:09Speaker 2: You were on a horse, and you were a park
- 7:10Speaker 2: ranger and you know, some sort of detective.
- 7:12Speaker 5: That's where I love repellent.
- 7:14Speaker 1: That's why that's the vibe I like to see you
- 7:16Speaker 1: in and embody. That's when I feel the safest with
- 7:19Speaker 1: you is when you're in this kind of role.
- 7:21Speaker 2: You're solving a crime, you know what I mean. You're people,
- 7:25Speaker 2: You're like the tough.
- 7:25Speaker 5: Guys, supposedly trustworthy.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Supposedly let's say, yeah, I mean you're Australian, so I'm
- 7:31Speaker 2: not in this movie though you I mean in this show,
- 7:33Speaker 2: you're not Australian. You play an American and the accent
- 7:35Speaker 2: is very good, well for this stage.
- 7:38Speaker 5: If I can't, I'm in trouble. Right.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Why do you think it is eric that so many
- 7:41Speaker 2: Australians can do such great American accents, but Americans can't
- 7:46Speaker 2: really ever do Australian accents?
- 7:48Speaker 5: You know why?
- 7:49Speaker 8: Because you don't try. Really, Yeah, when was the last
- 7:53Speaker 8: time you tried to do Astralia?
- 7:54Speaker 1: I can say no, no, I know how to say that.
- 7:59Speaker 8: No, Honestly, I I would really love to see more
- 8:02Speaker 8: Americans forced to do an Australian eco.
- 8:04Speaker 2: You know, it be eliminated from the acting industry because
- 8:07Speaker 2: it would be brutal.
- 8:08Speaker 5: It would be brutal.
- 8:08Speaker 8: It's like a tax we have to pay, you know,
- 8:10Speaker 8: to work internationally. Raither playing Brits, so we're playing Americans.
- 8:14Speaker 8: We don't have a choice. Is you don't see Australian
- 8:16Speaker 8: people in international film, right, we just don't exist. We
- 8:19Speaker 8: don't exists as a species species. No Australians appearing as
- 8:25Speaker 8: Australian in any film or yes, we do.
- 8:28Speaker 5: We've worked for it, We've worked. I don't know.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I mean, it's a very young country, you know what
- 8:33Speaker 1: I mean. You guys are a younger country than America and.
- 8:35Speaker 4: People with criminals, of course.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Living with criminals.
- 8:38Speaker 5: It's a fair point. I'll go back into Michelle.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I know a lot about you. I know that you
- 8:42Speaker 2: love race car driving, like you're really into that. I
- 8:45Speaker 2: stay a film once that you did about it, and
- 8:47Speaker 2: I know you're a big family man. I didn't know
- 8:51Speaker 2: that you were attacked by kangaroos attack? Well, were you
- 8:55Speaker 2: in a kangaroo fight?
- 8:57Speaker 8: I was picked on by kangaroo once when I was
- 9:00Speaker 8: by myself. Yeah, that's true, that's true. It was just
- 9:02Speaker 8: one guy. He was, I think the leader of the
- 9:04Speaker 8: pack of the valley. I picked the wrong spot to
- 9:06Speaker 8: pitch a tent and he shaped up to me.
- 9:09Speaker 1: He did, and yeah, what is.
- 9:12Speaker 2: The process of what do you how do you handle?
- 9:14Speaker 2: How does one handle and infraction with a kangaroo?
- 9:17Speaker 8: Well, I'm glad you asked, because I didn't know either.
- 9:20Speaker 8: I wanted to google what the hell do I do?
- 9:22Speaker 8: This guy wants a fight? I had no cell phone coverage,
- 9:25Speaker 8: of course, out back I'm in the apple, and so
- 9:28Speaker 8: I thought I'll scare him off with my motorcycle, and
- 9:30Speaker 8: I walked behind the motorcycle. I put the bike between
- 9:33Speaker 8: me and him, and I started it up. I'm like,
- 9:35Speaker 8: this twelve hundred cc beast is just his is going
- 9:38Speaker 8: to go running. And he didn't move, he didn't flinch,
- 9:40Speaker 8: and he actually had a facial expression like really, really
- 9:45Speaker 8: you think you think that's gonna And then he just
- 9:48Speaker 8: kept hopping around trying to square off at me. I
- 9:51Speaker 8: since learned that I should have perhaps not made so
- 9:53Speaker 8: much eye contact and sort of gone into his space.
- 9:57Speaker 5: I should have retreated. But I had the work night's sleep.
- 10:00Speaker 8: I was in a single man tand and I was
- 10:02Speaker 8: just picturing like Koujo, you know, like this thing is
- 10:04Speaker 8: just going to come in and just rip me to pieces.
- 10:06Speaker 5: But I survived.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Well, you're a survivor.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And it's funny though, because you don't think of kangaroos
- 10:12Speaker 2: as a very aggressive type out of all, but they
- 10:14Speaker 2: are kind of they can be.
- 10:15Speaker 5: They can be. Look, my fault was the kangaroo.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Were you drinking with a kangaroo?
- 10:19Speaker 2: Because I know a woman who had a cocktail with
- 10:21Speaker 2: with the monkey and then the monkey attacked.
- 10:24Speaker 5: No, I was not drinking. I was by myself.
- 10:26Speaker 8: But as I said, like, I would have attacked him
- 10:28Speaker 8: if he was in my if he repeeed in my
- 10:30Speaker 8: bedroom as well. I was in his backyard. I was
- 10:33Speaker 8: sleeping under his tree I had. I didn't know. I
- 10:35Speaker 8: should have done my homework.
- 10:36Speaker 1: What other close.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Calls have you been involved in? Have you ever had
- 10:40Speaker 2: a shark incident?
- 10:41Speaker 5: No?
- 10:42Speaker 1: No, have you ever seen a shark?
- 10:44Speaker 8: Oh? Yeah, I've seen plenty of sharks as a place
- 10:46Speaker 8: we used to go to called lord How Island which
- 10:48Speaker 8: has loads of sharks out adam past the reef, but
- 10:51Speaker 8: not where you swim, you know.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Like, I think they're pretty safe. I love them.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll all Australians say that. They say they're not
- 10:58Speaker 2: here to eat us. They're not, but they are eating people,
- 11:01Speaker 2: so like I know, they're just trying to take a
- 11:03Speaker 2: bite and then they decide, oh I don't like that,
- 11:05Speaker 2: but whoopsie doodle, then the person's leg is missing.
- 11:08Speaker 8: Yeah, I think the shocks would do that are a
- 11:09Speaker 8: little bit off, if you know what I'm saying.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Oh, oh, like, okay, I think I hate copy that
- 11:14Speaker 1: copy that.
- 11:15Speaker 5: I've been you know, discouded from the pack.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Perhaps, What about poison, Well, I don't think they travel
- 11:19Speaker 1: in packs.
- 11:20Speaker 5: But anyway to.
- 11:20Speaker 8: Australia, don't make it, don't make it sound like this unwelcoming,
- 11:25Speaker 8: you know violent.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I love Australia. First of all, you don't have to
- 11:29Speaker 2: tell me about Australia. I know you're from Melbourne and
- 11:32Speaker 2: I but I prefer Sydney. Sydney is I just was
- 11:35Speaker 2: there last year. I did a tour there.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Again.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I reached out to you, of course, to invite you
- 11:38Speaker 2: to my show as usual, and he didn't show up.
- 11:40Speaker 8: Well, I was in Canada making the show where he
- 11:43Speaker 8: had to talk about so I wouldn't be here now
- 11:44Speaker 8: if I wasn't.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Viable to you, obviously we need you on it untamed.
- 11:47Speaker 1: That was a priority.
- 11:49Speaker 2: What about a deadly snake? Have you ever come into
- 11:51Speaker 2: contact with a deadly snake? Because I fucking hate snakes.
- 11:54Speaker 8: Yes, unfortunately, Yes, I like to play golf and I'll
- 11:57Speaker 8: see them quite a lot.
- 11:58Speaker 5: We get browns and and also.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Ones are the really dangerous ones.
- 12:02Speaker 2: But in Australia, basically all snakes are dangerous.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of them are.
- 12:06Speaker 8: But again, you know, like they you're going into the
- 12:09Speaker 8: area Chelsea like they not come. Actually, sometimes in Queensland,
- 12:12Speaker 8: I might put themselves in golfing.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Are they golfing? That doesn't seem like their area? That
- 12:18Speaker 2: definitely seems like another.
- 12:19Speaker 8: Area on the fairway. Actually they did cross the fairway.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Sometimes the ground ones are the grossest ones. I find
- 12:25Speaker 2: those that.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, they're big, they're big and they're thick.
- 12:28Speaker 2: And I once saw a picture of like a golf
- 12:30Speaker 2: course that had was just laden with all of these snakes.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I don't think it was in Australia, it was probably
- 12:35Speaker 2: somewhere in Florida, but there were like eight or ten
- 12:37Speaker 2: huge snakes on the golf course. And I'm like, oh
- 12:40Speaker 2: my god, that is like my worst nightmare. Are you
- 12:42Speaker 2: a good golfer?
- 12:43Speaker 5: No, I'm not very good.
- 12:44Speaker 8: My wife's white better, unfortunately, but I'm only three yeas in.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Golf.
- 12:51Speaker 8: God, don't bring this up. She's so good it's annoying.
- 12:53Speaker 8: But you know she's she's a better athlete. She played
- 12:55Speaker 8: tennis as a kid, and it's just accounts that comes
- 12:59Speaker 8: natural to a's worked really hard.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Anyway, she's about seven shots ahead of me. Can we
- 13:03Speaker 5: move on?
- 13:04Speaker 2: Well, you're embarrassed and you should know I shouldn't be embarrassed.
- 13:08Speaker 8: You know, why shouldn't she be better than Why should
- 13:10Speaker 8: I expect to be better than her?
- 13:11Speaker 2: Well, because you're an Australian male, that's probably why you're
- 13:14Speaker 2: thinking that.
- 13:15Speaker 1: By the way, that's a urine sample.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Kidding. I would never do that.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I would never do that to you.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Okay, So now let's talk about some of your roles,
- 13:24Speaker 2: because I want to know which ones mean the most
- 13:25Speaker 2: to you.
- 13:27Speaker 1: What role of yours made you like, I know.
- 13:30Speaker 2: You loved working on Troy right with Brackett And who
- 13:33Speaker 2: else was in that movie?
- 13:34Speaker 1: Was it Orlando Bloom?
- 13:35Speaker 8: Orlando Bloom, He's fine, so many great actors, Sean Bain,
- 13:40Speaker 8: mister Cox.
- 13:41Speaker 5: I mean, it was just it was just amazing.
- 13:43Speaker 2: And I know you said about that movie like had
- 13:44Speaker 2: it made no money, you would have still been just
- 13:46Speaker 2: happy that you had done it because you.
- 13:47Speaker 5: Were in such a good company and you enjoy.
- 13:49Speaker 8: Feel like that on everything I'll work on, like you
- 13:51Speaker 8: always always like like what happens afterwards, Like you just
- 13:54Speaker 8: you do the thing and it's like you put that
- 13:56Speaker 8: experience in a box and you lock it away. And
- 13:59Speaker 8: sometimes I know these sons ridiculous. Sometimes I actually forget
- 14:02Speaker 8: that people are going to say the thing like, now
- 14:04Speaker 8: I'm actually talking.
- 14:04Speaker 1: About that's already over.
- 14:06Speaker 8: I had read such an amazing time filming that last year,
- 14:09Speaker 8: and you know how beautiful.
- 14:10Speaker 5: It is in BC outside the back of Whistler where
- 14:12Speaker 5: we shot most of this.
- 14:14Speaker 8: I mean, I was getting paid to be on a
- 14:15Speaker 8: horse up in the mountains every day, hanging around with
- 14:17Speaker 8: the most incredible crew, working with amazing riders.
- 14:20Speaker 5: And then now I'm like, oh, that's right, people are
- 14:23Speaker 5: going to see that. I forget.
- 14:24Speaker 8: I forget we're making it for people, like it wasn't
- 14:26Speaker 8: just for us, Like I literally forget.
- 14:28Speaker 2: But also like with the way the industry is now,
- 14:31Speaker 2: there's so much, you know what I mean, We're so
- 14:33Speaker 2: saturated with so many TV shows, so many films.
- 14:36Speaker 1: There's so much that.
- 14:37Speaker 2: It's like it's not as big of as a drum
- 14:40Speaker 2: beat to get to things for releases, for things.
- 14:42Speaker 1: As it used to be.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true.
- 14:44Speaker 2: You know, it feels like there's a lot more that
- 14:46Speaker 2: comes and goes much quicker. So to have something like
- 14:49Speaker 2: a project adding on to what you're saying that that
- 14:51Speaker 2: there's like a little bit of lag time to promoting something,
- 14:54Speaker 2: but British Columbia, I think is if I think you'll
- 14:57Speaker 2: agree with me, one of the most beautiful parts of
- 14:59Speaker 2: the whole world.
- 15:00Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, in some ways we were lucky. We
- 15:01Speaker 8: couldn't get into the key parts of Yosemite where the
- 15:04Speaker 8: series is set in summer, because of practicality reasons.
- 15:07Speaker 1: So because of what happened with you in that kangaroo, yeah, exactly.
- 15:10Speaker 8: Exactly, they heard it. So we ended up in BC
- 15:12Speaker 8: at the back of Whistler for most of it.
- 15:14Speaker 1: And did you see any bears when you were in BC?
- 15:17Speaker 5: Do you know what I wanted to? I wanted to
- 15:19Speaker 5: and I saw none. And we had a bear guy.
- 15:21Speaker 8: We had a bear guy who was like, you know,
- 15:22Speaker 8: our safety and the bears safety. I'm like, dude, you're
- 15:26Speaker 8: full of shit. Where are the bears? Like, there's just
- 15:28Speaker 8: nothing I wanted to Like. I heard a rumor that
- 15:31Speaker 8: some actors in the past had put steaks outside of
- 15:33Speaker 8: their I'm not going to mention any knows, Okay, not
- 15:36Speaker 8: on our show, by the way, Okay, well had put
- 15:38Speaker 8: steaks on plates outside their trailers to try and get
- 15:41Speaker 8: an Instagram moment. I didn't do that, but I didn't
- 15:44Speaker 8: see one bear, so I need to go. I mean,
- 15:47Speaker 8: I would have more chance of seeing a bear on
- 15:49Speaker 8: a ski lift in winter than I did.
- 15:51Speaker 5: On the show, Where did you go?
- 15:53Speaker 1: Stay off the back of Whistler? You keep saying where
- 15:55Speaker 1: where you do you know where you were?
- 15:56Speaker 5: Well, we stayed in whistle and then we travel out
- 15:58Speaker 5: into the back.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Yet you know I have some Whistler.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Well I know, but you never offered it. You didn't
- 16:03Speaker 5: even know you.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Were No, I didn't know you were there.
- 16:05Speaker 6: This is you.
- 16:05Speaker 1: This is what I'm talking about with our relationship.
- 16:07Speaker 2: You're constantly very close by and acting like you're nowhere.
- 16:12Speaker 5: Told you I was there? No, no one really.
- 16:14Speaker 2: You would have heard from me, Eric if I had
- 16:16Speaker 2: known you were in Whistler, you definitely would have.
- 16:18Speaker 1: In the summer, No, I go in the I go
- 16:21Speaker 1: it's a ski you know.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I like skiing, so I knew that. So yeah, I've
- 16:25Speaker 2: never seen a bear there either. And at the end
- 16:27Speaker 2: of ski season, when when the snow melts, everyone there's
- 16:30Speaker 2: always bears.
- 16:31Speaker 4: You know.
- 16:31Speaker 2: So this year I stayed extra long because I love
- 16:33Speaker 2: the idea of seeing a bear.
- 16:35Speaker 1: My dogs look like bears. I feel like I have
- 16:37Speaker 1: a connection to bears, and I feel like I could.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Handle a bear, you know what I mean, I would
- 16:40Speaker 2: know what to do in that situation more so than
- 16:42Speaker 2: a snake or a shark or a kangaroo. But this
- 16:45Speaker 2: year I kept waiting and they're like, oh, there's a
- 16:47Speaker 2: bear at the end of the road, and then we
- 16:48Speaker 2: drive down the end of the road the bear would
- 16:50Speaker 2: be gone.
- 16:50Speaker 1: So I still haven't seen my real life bear.
- 16:52Speaker 8: The area that we were filming in at the back
- 16:54Speaker 8: of the old Olympic skate park, there is a goosely
- 16:57Speaker 8: there called Debbie, which I saw at some stuff age
- 17:00Speaker 8: in pre production. I'm like Debbie where I like, Debbie
- 17:02Speaker 8: did not come out.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Yeah, especially like a big grizzly.
- 17:05Speaker 2: But a female grizzly is going to be even more
- 17:06Speaker 2: dangerous than a male grizzly.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Fantastic, Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 17:10Speaker 2: So back to the question about what movie role do
- 17:12Speaker 2: you think, like, what is one movie role that you
- 17:14Speaker 2: think has had the biggest not even impact professionally, but
- 17:19Speaker 2: on you personally.
- 17:21Speaker 8: That's that's a really good question because I've had like
- 17:24Speaker 8: four or five that have been really special. But in
- 17:26Speaker 8: terms of like on long term friendships, my first big
- 17:29Speaker 8: American film was Black Hawk Down, which was this huge ensemble,
- 17:33Speaker 8: and I to this day have like three or four
- 17:36Speaker 8: of my closest friends are from that shoot that we
- 17:38Speaker 8: stayed in contact with. We had hotel rooms on the
- 17:41Speaker 8: same floor. My son was like eighteen months I think
- 17:43Speaker 8: at the time when we turned up. He was two
- 17:45Speaker 8: by the time we left. I'm literally catching up with
- 17:48Speaker 8: one of those people tomorrow night. So in terms of
- 17:52Speaker 8: like impact on your life, I'd say that would be
- 17:54Speaker 8: the greatest, mainly because of the friendships that were forged. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 8: and I'm not alone. There was like different gangs of
- 18:00Speaker 8: friendships on that film because the cast was so huge
- 18:02Speaker 8: of like two people there, three people there, five people there,
- 18:05Speaker 8: and it's the same free of one. Everyone is like
- 18:07Speaker 8: super super tight from that film. Troy was really special.
- 18:10Speaker 8: Munich was really special.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Munich was a great film.
- 18:13Speaker 8: Yeah, there's been so many that I think the big
- 18:16Speaker 8: long shoots where everyone's away from home has something special
- 18:19Speaker 8: to it. I'm usually the only guy who's away from home.
- 18:22Speaker 8: I'm usually somewhere where everyone's sleeping in their own beds
- 18:24Speaker 8: at night and I'm going back to an apartment and whatever.
- 18:27Speaker 8: But on the big ones like that, it's a bit
- 18:29Speaker 8: more of a bonding experience.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Yeah, which is hard because you're also aware there's a
- 18:33Speaker 1: bit of a summer camp vibe to it, you know.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I know it's hard for
- 18:37Speaker 2: you to be away from your family too. I mean,
- 18:39Speaker 2: maybe it's not hard, but it's obviously not. You'd rather
- 18:41Speaker 2: be with your family and you have to. You're the
- 18:43Speaker 2: one traveling from Australia. But your kids are grown up
- 18:46Speaker 2: now and in college.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Yeah. Well the past that stage had twenty three and
- 18:50Speaker 5: twenty five. Yeah, and are they still speaking to you?
- 18:52Speaker 5: They're still speaking to me? Isn't that fantastic?
- 18:53Speaker 3: Wow?
- 18:54Speaker 8: Yeah, one of them just just just facetimed me from Europe.
- 18:57Speaker 8: Today they're out of the house and stuff. So yeah, yeah,
- 19:01Speaker 8: I'm so old.
- 19:02Speaker 1: What are you and Rebecca are going to do now
- 19:04Speaker 1: that your kids are like adulting? How are you going
- 19:06Speaker 1: to celebrate your life?
- 19:07Speaker 5: We'll do more travel, We'll pply, more golf, We'll have
- 19:09Speaker 5: some fun. We'll drink. You'll get her to drink more
- 19:11Speaker 5: than one glass of alcohol awake.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, absolutely remember that.
- 19:17Speaker 5: I send it to you for a week.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I can train anybody. I can train anybody to drink more.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Remember we went to dinner one night in Melbourne and
- 19:24Speaker 2: then I got into the van on the way out
- 19:26Speaker 2: and I went to go take a step up. I
- 19:28Speaker 2: had had a few cocktails, of course, and I stepped
- 19:30Speaker 2: up and then I kind of fell into the van
- 19:32Speaker 2: and eric'sch you're right there, and just kept walking, just
- 19:35Speaker 2: walking by me. No, I think this is a perfect
- 19:38Speaker 2: time for you guys to travel enjoy your lives. You know,
- 19:41Speaker 2: it's so nice when kids are grown up and you've
- 19:43Speaker 2: like you they're cooked.
- 19:45Speaker 5: They're never found, they cooked exactly now it is.
- 19:48Speaker 8: It does feel amazing, And it's also that it's that
- 19:50Speaker 8: I do you think will never happen, you know, when
- 19:53Speaker 8: you've got like you just think this point will never
- 19:55Speaker 8: ever come where you'll just travel and it won't really
- 19:57Speaker 8: matter where you are because they don't around. S No,
- 20:00Speaker 8: it's kind of fun. I mean, it's kind of sad
- 20:02Speaker 8: in some ways, but that's yeah, it's amazing.
- 20:03Speaker 2: And what do you think if you had to describe
- 20:05Speaker 2: yourself as a dad, how would you describe yourself?
- 20:08Speaker 1: Oh?
- 20:10Speaker 5: God, I definitely try and be funny.
- 20:13Speaker 8: I think my wife and I really similar, like we're
- 20:15Speaker 8: just really into it, really into being parents, Like we
- 20:18Speaker 8: were always really really into it. So I would say
- 20:21Speaker 8: they're probably they will always seek of me being around.
- 20:23Speaker 8: They were like, can you just go back to work?
- 20:25Speaker 8: Like enough of you already. So yeah, I don't know,
- 20:29Speaker 8: something like that.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Did you find out that you were you surprised to
- 20:32Speaker 2: find out how much patience you had as a father?
- 20:35Speaker 5: Well, it depends on the day of the week, right, Yeah.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Would you say patience is one of your strong suits
- 20:39Speaker 2: or one of your less strong suits.
- 20:41Speaker 5: No, I would say in life, in general and in work,
- 20:44Speaker 5: I'm very very patient, very very patient. Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I need to work on my patients.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I was stupid people.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It's very hard for me.
- 20:53Speaker 5: No, fair enough, you know, stupid.
- 20:55Speaker 1: People is very hard for Dimerware.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I don't like to I want everyone to sess the
- 21:00Speaker 2: situation quickly and then move on.
- 21:02Speaker 5: Is it stupid people or is it inefficiency?
- 21:04Speaker 8: Because I have I have discovered recently that all of
- 21:07Speaker 8: my close friends, all of my male close friends, are
- 21:10Speaker 8: high intelligence and have no capacity for inefficiency. It's just
- 21:15Speaker 8: I just discovered this one day when I was telling
- 21:17Speaker 8: my wife about the story. I was just recently traveling
- 21:19Speaker 8: with a buddy of mine and his Bugberry's checking into
- 21:21Speaker 8: hotels anything more than three words, anything.
- 21:25Speaker 2: That interact with the person in my room. And then also,
- 21:29Speaker 2: don't come in, Yeah.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Tell me the key, don't give me the two say nothing.
- 21:33Speaker 2: My issue with impatience is when the interaction just yes,
- 21:36Speaker 2: it's exactly that, when it's it could be succinct, and
- 21:39Speaker 2: yet it keeps going and there's a back and forth.
- 21:41Speaker 2: It's like I already have clocked what's going on, and
- 21:44Speaker 2: I've expressed to you via me O hosts that this
- 21:49Speaker 2: is not like this is over, like I got it.
- 21:51Speaker 5: You know.
- 21:51Speaker 1: It's even on planes.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I noticed when people it's almost like people want to
- 21:56Speaker 2: just waste time, you know, talking to people. I think
- 21:59Speaker 2: when people are I think planes specifically, because people seem
- 22:02Speaker 2: to get nervous on planes, and I think they like
- 22:04Speaker 2: to talk too much just because they're feeling nervous.
- 22:06Speaker 8: Ordering food, like people, you know, like when you're in
- 22:09Speaker 8: line and someone's ordering and they're having like a conversation
- 22:11Speaker 8: with the cashier.
- 22:12Speaker 5: Yeah, it's so fucking annoying.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I hate that.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Or in airports when people are just standing there, I'm like,
- 22:17Speaker 2: what are you doing?
- 22:17Speaker 1: Move? You're nobody's here to hang out and meet friends here.
- 22:21Speaker 1: No one is here for that reason.
- 22:22Speaker 2: The purpose of an airport is to get from one
- 22:24Speaker 2: place to the next.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Place, So fucking move your feet. I don't understand either,
- 22:29Speaker 1: what's go three or four?
- 22:30Speaker 5: Brist come on?
- 22:31Speaker 7: No?
- 22:32Speaker 4: So then still are never paying attention to either.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Don't throw that word around either. Are you somebody that would.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Ever listen to watch a show on your phone or
- 22:41Speaker 2: have a FaceTime call on your phone without a pair
- 22:44Speaker 2: of headphones on?
- 22:45Speaker 6: Eric?
- 22:45Speaker 1: No, exactly, no, that's the right answer.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I had to confront about three different people on my
- 22:50Speaker 2: last travels.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I was just in Europe for two months.
- 22:52Speaker 5: And I guess with the Americans, h No, they were men.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Though they were men. There was one woman and she
- 22:58Speaker 2: was elderly, so I was.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Like, because I am very well, but she could still
- 23:03Speaker 1: could get a headphone.
- 23:04Speaker 5: So I mean hearing eyes to something. That's where I'm going.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Well, that's nice.
- 23:08Speaker 2: But I thought if I if I said something to
- 23:11Speaker 2: the two men and I didn't say something to the woman,
- 23:13Speaker 2: then that would be sexist, and I don't want to be.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Sex Yeah, exactly, you know that it's down.
- 23:18Speaker 2: So I said, excuse me, missed, do you have a
- 23:19Speaker 2: set of headphones, and she goes, oh, I'm so sorry,
- 23:22Speaker 2: but yeah there.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Was a reaction. Were you surprised because I'm so.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Nice about it? I go, I'm so sorry. Would you
- 23:27Speaker 1: mind not watching that fucking race card show at full
- 23:32Speaker 1: blast volume while we're on a.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Fucking plane together when everyone it's just so inconsiderate, you know.
- 23:38Speaker 2: I mean, it's definitely more of a male thing, of course,
- 23:41Speaker 2: like everything, where people just don't consider that other people.
- 23:44Speaker 1: May not want to hear your social media or your
- 23:48Speaker 1: face time call.
- 23:49Speaker 2: I mean, it kills me when someone's on a FaceTime
- 23:51Speaker 2: call with that and you're just.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Like, do you think do you want people to hear
- 23:55Speaker 1: your conversations?
- 23:55Speaker 6: I do.
- 23:56Speaker 5: That's the truth, I know, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Okay, we're going to take a break and I we're
- 24:03Speaker 2: going to be right back with my favorite Eric Banner. Okay,
- 24:09Speaker 2: and we're back with Eric Banner. Okay, tell me why
- 24:12Speaker 2: you wanted to do unteamed Eric.
- 24:14Speaker 8: I love the pilot episode when it was sent to me,
- 24:17Speaker 8: I just thought it was so brilliantly written. So it's
- 24:21Speaker 8: and selfishly is an actor you Honestly, when I'm reading something,
- 24:24Speaker 8: I'm reading something as an audience first.
- 24:25Speaker 1: That's the truth as an actor or as a person.
- 24:28Speaker 5: As a person, as like does this interest me?
- 24:30Speaker 3: Do?
- 24:30Speaker 8: I think this is great? And then the second time
- 24:32Speaker 8: it's like selfishly diving in. Okay, what's this character? Likee
- 24:36Speaker 8: of so I read, I'm like, I'm so in. I like,
- 24:38Speaker 8: whether I'm in the show or not, I'm watching this
- 24:40Speaker 8: like it's not going to be on my.
- 24:41Speaker 1: List because the first episode is very intense, lots of
- 24:43Speaker 1: things happen.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, the opening I was like panicking under my covers.
- 24:48Speaker 8: I loved it and I loved the character of Kyle.
- 24:51Speaker 8: And then I met with Mark and we spoke and
- 24:53Speaker 8: I was like, I want to help set this up.
- 24:55Speaker 5: I want to make this show. So that was five
- 24:58Speaker 5: years ago, so it took us quite a while to yeah,
- 25:00Speaker 5: to get to be what was interested in something. If
- 25:02Speaker 5: it took five years, you got to have patience.
- 25:04Speaker 1: But such a long time, wouldn't.
- 25:06Speaker 5: We hear talking about this if I had no patient?
- 25:10Speaker 8: Anyway, No, I just loved it, and I because I
- 25:12Speaker 8: love a murder mystery, so many of us do. But
- 25:15Speaker 8: I'm done with people driving arounding cars and knocking on doors.
- 25:18Speaker 8: So here we were in a national park, trying to
- 25:20Speaker 8: solve a crime, but in the most beautiful epic setting,
- 25:23Speaker 8: which has an element of danger to it. And for
- 25:25Speaker 8: those of us who love nature, we know, like there's
- 25:27Speaker 8: yin Yang. It's like you're exposed. It's amazing, but there's
- 25:30Speaker 8: always this element that it could be in a little
- 25:32Speaker 8: bit of danger here. So I love the idea of
- 25:35Speaker 8: that genre or that that kind of program but set
- 25:39Speaker 8: somewhere amazing.
- 25:40Speaker 5: As a point of difference.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Uh huh, yeah, I mean it means even more to
- 25:44Speaker 2: me now that I know it was shot and Whistler.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I didn't even know that. I didn't even recognize they're
- 25:47Speaker 1: watching it that it was shot in Whistler.
- 25:49Speaker 8: Well hopefully you don't, because you know, we had some
- 25:52Speaker 8: be stuff from Yoursemite that we stitch into my you know,
- 25:55Speaker 8: So that's good.
- 25:55Speaker 1: All National parks look the same to me, you know
- 25:57Speaker 1: what I mean.
- 25:58Speaker 5: Once you're in the woods, you're a.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Park ranger for one park, you're a park ranger for
- 26:01Speaker 2: pretty much all parks.
- 26:02Speaker 5: I'm not a park range, but you know I'm talking
- 26:04Speaker 5: about myself.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I'm a park ranger.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Right, Investigating Services branch thinks you're a permanent investigative y whatever,
- 26:14Speaker 2: and put it investigator in front of anything, and.
- 26:16Speaker 1: That's what he is.
- 26:17Speaker 5: Yeah, we should we start with you.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I want to hear Eric give advice to people. Yeah,
- 26:23Speaker 2: this is called Dear Chelsea. First of all, it's called
- 26:25Speaker 2: like Dear Abbey. So people are going to call in
- 26:27Speaker 2: for life advice, and based on your based on your
- 26:30Speaker 2: life experience, everything you've been through, you are going to
- 26:33Speaker 2: tell them what you think they should do.
- 26:35Speaker 5: Will hang on? Will they listen?
- 26:38Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:38Speaker 8: Will do I get evidence as to whether they took
- 26:42Speaker 8: this ship up?
- 26:43Speaker 4: You know, because people follow up with us.
- 26:45Speaker 8: Because my wife and I a sick and tired of
- 26:47Speaker 8: giving advice to people. Look that they don't take up.
- 26:50Speaker 5: That's true. So this comes with the price. There's going
- 26:53Speaker 5: to be follow up.
- 26:54Speaker 4: Come on, all right, well, and you can demand it
- 26:56Speaker 4: of the colors when they come on, you can say
- 26:57Speaker 4: you better follow the caller.
- 26:59Speaker 5: That's that's a good approach.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Well, this one's just an email, but I thought this
- 27:02Speaker 4: would be a good one. We were just talking about traveling,
- 27:04Speaker 4: and you know, especially since you have two grown kids,
- 27:07Speaker 4: you might have some insight on this. Elizabeth says, Dear Chelsea,
- 27:11Speaker 4: for the sake of sisterhood, help a girl out back
- 27:13Speaker 4: on our third date. Eighteen years and two kids ago,
- 27:16Speaker 4: my husband and I dreamed of living abroad for a
- 27:19Speaker 4: year or two. Think Europe Asia, epic memories before our
- 27:22Speaker 4: kids hit high school and stop thinking we're cool. We
- 27:25Speaker 4: fell in love with Barcelona a decade ago and said
- 27:28Speaker 4: this is the place. Well, one day is now. Our
- 27:31Speaker 4: sons headed into sixth, daughter into third, and the clock
- 27:34Speaker 4: is ticking. We can technically afford it in the long run,
- 27:37Speaker 4: but my husband, who runs his own law practice, calls
- 27:39Speaker 4: it quote financial suicide. Meanwhile, I've been in and out
- 27:42Speaker 4: of full time work since COVID, and the plan would
- 27:45Speaker 4: be for me to be on team logistics while he
- 27:46Speaker 4: keeps the lights on. He feels the pressure. I get it,
- 27:49Speaker 4: but also, yolo, how do I get him to jump?
- 27:53Speaker 4: We both want this. We're dreamers. This country is a
- 27:55Speaker 4: dumpster fire. The kids are still impressionable, and honestly, the
- 27:58Speaker 4: crisp Spanish white wine is calling tips Pep talk, Chelsea Wisdom.
- 28:03Speaker 4: I'll take it all, Elizabeth.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I mean, I think you have to go for it.
- 28:06Speaker 6: You have to.
- 28:07Speaker 2: First of all, no time like the present, especially with
- 28:09Speaker 2: what's happening in our country. Yeah, great reason to get
- 28:12Speaker 2: out of there, and great reason to expose your kids.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I mean, I'm surprised they're even willing to take their
- 28:16Speaker 2: eight and third grader, eight year old and eight and
- 28:20Speaker 2: third grade, whatever the ages are.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it has taken.
- 28:22Speaker 2: But I mean, if they made that a agreement, then
- 28:25Speaker 2: they should follow through on that.
- 28:26Speaker 1: That's a good idea. Don't you think I think it's
- 28:28Speaker 1: idea you do?
- 28:29Speaker 5: No, I'm joking. Absolutely.
- 28:32Speaker 8: It is the best thing they will ever do for
- 28:34Speaker 8: their kids, for their marriage, for themselves. I understand Hobby's
- 28:38Speaker 8: point of view. He's been stressed about it, but ten
- 28:40Speaker 8: years from now he won't. He'll look back and go,
- 28:42Speaker 8: I don't know why I was stressed about that financial situation.
- 28:44Speaker 8: I made good on that, like within two years, but
- 28:47Speaker 8: the kids will never forget it. Our kids traveled a
- 28:50Speaker 8: lot through my job. They remember every single location we
- 28:54Speaker 8: ever shot in. They remember absolute specific So it's a
- 28:58Speaker 8: no brainer. You've got to do or how do you
- 29:01Speaker 8: get the husband over the line? You tell him, threaten him,
- 29:04Speaker 8: Oh no, it only gets harder as the kids get older.
- 29:07Speaker 8: If you don't do it now, you will not do it.
- 29:08Speaker 8: And listen, don't let him say you know what let's
- 29:11Speaker 8: checking again in two years.
- 29:12Speaker 4: That's sixth grade is right before junior high.
- 29:15Speaker 1: You got to go yeah, yeah, right, you do.
- 29:17Speaker 3: You have to.
- 29:17Speaker 2: And also you have to take life by the balls,
- 29:19Speaker 2: Like you know, saying something like it's a financial suicide
- 29:22Speaker 2: is very dramatic. Yes, it's actually not going to be
- 29:24Speaker 2: financial suicide. You'll figure it out, and everyone does figure this.
- 29:27Speaker 4: And even to that end, like I'm not exactly sure
- 29:30Speaker 4: about the logistics, but like he could have a paralegal
- 29:32Speaker 4: or an assistant who's stateside and in your time zone
- 29:35Speaker 4: and he can be working remotely, I would imagine.
- 29:37Speaker 8: But you know what else that the financial suicide. Think
- 29:40Speaker 8: that's something that's in your head when you're in your
- 29:42Speaker 8: current bubble, and the minute they land in where is it, Barcelona,
- 29:46Speaker 8: the words financial suicide will slip out of his brain.
- 29:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with that. You're always worried about the thing.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Get on that plane.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Yeah, and it'd be great for your kids to learn Spanish.
- 29:55Speaker 4: That's really important for Americans. And then also like they're
- 29:58Speaker 4: not just going to be in Barcelona, You're gonna be
- 30:00Speaker 4: taking weekend trips all over.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Yet you guys can go spend time in my house
- 30:03Speaker 1: in my Orca. I mean perfect, yeah, hello.
- 30:06Speaker 4: All right done, Elizabeth. Let your husband know, but a
- 30:09Speaker 4: guy and I want to hear.
- 30:10Speaker 5: I want to hear. I want to from with you. Okay,
- 30:14Speaker 5: you can count on that.
- 30:15Speaker 4: And you know what, I'll even say, Elizabeth, if your
- 30:17Speaker 4: husband is not convinced, you guys can call in for
- 30:19Speaker 4: a couple's counseling with Eric.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Bana just told me to It's not gonna there's not
- 30:24Speaker 2: going to be a bigger conversation after that.
- 30:26Speaker 5: I don't think I don't think.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Well.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Our first caller is James. James is from Louisiana, and
- 30:35Speaker 4: he says, you're Chelsea. I'm a twenty six year old
- 30:37Speaker 4: bisexual man from South Louisiana. I've only been with men
- 30:40Speaker 4: since coming out about six years ago. I live in
- 30:42Speaker 4: a small town where everyone knows everybody's business. This past
- 30:46Speaker 4: Christmas Eve, my mom was in the Dollar General when
- 30:49Speaker 4: the mother of an old friend of mine walked up
- 30:50Speaker 4: to her. She proceeded to tell my mom that she
- 30:53Speaker 4: thinks her daughter's child is mine. Within the first couple
- 30:56Speaker 4: of minutes of hearing this, I was in denial, but
- 30:59Speaker 4: after looking through pictures, though, I'm convinced the child is mine.
- 31:02Speaker 4: The quote unquote father of the child doesn't know this information,
- 31:05Speaker 4: and the mother is in a mental health facility for
- 31:07Speaker 4: eighteen months getting help. I'm at a loss for words
- 31:10Speaker 4: over this one and would love some advice. Thanks for
- 31:12Speaker 4: everything you do. James.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa, James Hi. This is our special guest, Eric
- 31:17Speaker 2: Fanna today.
- 31:18Speaker 5: James Hi. It's nice to meet Chill.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Right, and James is having about of Bell's palsy, so
- 31:22Speaker 4: we have a little bit of a slurred speech, no problem, Yeah, okay, yeah.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Well it sounds like you're dealing with a lot of
- 31:28Speaker 1: stuff right now. Yes, I am. And how do you
- 31:31Speaker 1: think you want to handle this.
- 31:33Speaker 7: I'm still just kind of like dealing with this at
- 31:35Speaker 7: the moment. But as far as like the kids situation goes,
- 31:39Speaker 7: I mean, I've had a similar view on kids as
- 31:41Speaker 7: you have, and I've never really especially I haven't been
- 31:45Speaker 7: with a girls since like twenty eighteen, so that's something.
- 31:49Speaker 7: But then what's really pulling me in are the amount
- 31:54Speaker 7: of like concerning things like with the child's father supposed
- 31:57Speaker 7: to father, he has like a Confederate flag on the
- 32:01Speaker 7: back of his truck, which is like all you need
- 32:03Speaker 7: to know about that, and especially growing up down here.
- 32:06Speaker 7: My cousin actually babysit the child before because it's just
- 32:10Speaker 7: small town. Everyone knows everyone. She had like seen a
- 32:13Speaker 7: picture of the kid on the fridge and had acts like, Hey,
- 32:19Speaker 7: is that James the mom? She said, no, that's the kid,
- 32:24Speaker 7: but we think that James is the kid's father, and
- 32:27Speaker 7: told her not to say anything. And this is like
- 32:29Speaker 7: a few months before she admitted herself into that mental
- 32:32Speaker 7: health facility for fifteen months. So yeah, and then there's
- 32:36Speaker 7: little things like the kid liked my little pony and
- 32:38Speaker 7: stuff like that. And you also have like a brother
- 32:41Speaker 7: who's a complete opposite, more similar to the father.
- 32:44Speaker 2: But you definitely had sex with this woman, right, Oh yeah,
- 32:47Speaker 2: you could be the father.
- 32:49Speaker 7: I did once.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Yes, Oh okay, so you could be the father. I
- 32:52Speaker 1: could be the father. Wow, that's heavy, But you don't know.
- 32:57Speaker 4: We don't.
- 32:57Speaker 7: And my mom was in talks with the grandmother about
- 33:01Speaker 7: like a DNA test and stuff like that, but they
- 33:05Speaker 7: kind of thought it would be a better idea to
- 33:06Speaker 7: wait until she gets out so she doesn't feel like blindsided, which.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I yeah, sure, yeah, yeah.
- 33:13Speaker 2: I mean she's already got a husband with a Confederate flag, so.
- 33:16Speaker 7: Yeah, and they're actually so they're not really like together.
- 33:19Speaker 5: Okay.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Another thing, who's looking after this little girl right now?
- 33:22Speaker 1: Her grandparents So.
- 33:24Speaker 7: It's a it's a boy, but yeah, her grandparents, and
- 33:27Speaker 7: she's staying with it.
- 33:28Speaker 5: They're staying with the dad.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Okay.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you need to process exactly how you
- 33:34Speaker 2: want to approach this before you actually make any move,
- 33:36Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Since it's a huge responsibility
- 33:39Speaker 2: and it is like the rest of your life, you
- 33:41Speaker 2: first of all want to go about it the right
- 33:43Speaker 2: way and actually make sure that she is your daughter
- 33:45Speaker 2: one hundred percent and do a DNA test because son, sorry,
- 33:50Speaker 2: I'm sorry, sorry, and do a DNA test, but also
- 33:54Speaker 2: figure out what the timing of that, what the timing is,
- 33:56Speaker 2: and what makes most sense with regard to the mother
- 33:59Speaker 2: being in facility, right Like, there's a lot of delicate
- 34:02Speaker 2: issues around.
- 34:03Speaker 7: This, correct, And she does get out in November, so okay.
- 34:09Speaker 5: That's something.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I think maybe at that time you can take
- 34:11Speaker 2: it upon yourself to suggest that you know, in a
- 34:14Speaker 2: face to face with her about.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Doing a DNA test or if she thinks that you're
- 34:18Speaker 1: the father, you might not be that's also true.
- 34:21Speaker 2: So yeah, so it's not like, you know, a black
- 34:23Speaker 2: and white situation just yet. I think it's a very
- 34:25Speaker 2: something that you really have to handle with a lot
- 34:27Speaker 2: of delicacy, you know, until you actually do a DNA test.
- 34:31Speaker 5: Got you?
- 34:32Speaker 4: Do you think that he should have a conversation with
- 34:35Speaker 4: the grandma, the one who approached his mom, and just
- 34:37Speaker 4: just to sort of like get the lay of the
- 34:39Speaker 4: land with the supposed father and the mom.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that would be Are you up for that?
- 34:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm totally up for that.
- 34:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 2: I think you just be as nice and reasonable as
- 34:50Speaker 2: you as you obviously are, and have a conversation with
- 34:54Speaker 2: her if she's the one who initiated that conversation, follow
- 34:56Speaker 2: up with it like any responsible adult male would you
- 34:59Speaker 2: know or follow.
- 35:01Speaker 7: Julie walked up to my mom and Dollar General and
- 35:03Speaker 7: was like, so, I don't know if it's my place,
- 35:06Speaker 7: but I think your child is my grandson's dad and
- 35:10Speaker 7: it's just like on Christmas Eve, so.
- 35:12Speaker 5: It's just a lot. Now, how old is the boy?
- 35:18Speaker 4: He's like seven, yeah, so this will be something for
- 35:20Speaker 4: him to process too, like when and if it comes out.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Yes, I think be very thoughtful don't have unnecessary interactions
- 35:28Speaker 2: with the child until you know for sure what the
- 35:30Speaker 2: situation is, and start with the grandmother. And then in
- 35:34Speaker 2: November when when the mother comes out, then you can
- 35:37Speaker 2: have a conversation with her too, and then just take
- 35:40Speaker 2: steps in the direction of finding out for sure, but
- 35:43Speaker 2: don't do anything rash right now.
- 35:46Speaker 7: Her And then I also have a boyfriend.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Another question. This is a doubleheader that.
- 35:50Speaker 7: Cast some tension at the time. We've actually built on
- 35:53Speaker 7: our relationships, so I think that would be fine if
- 35:56Speaker 7: it came down to it. But that's just a whole
- 35:58Speaker 7: another thing, because it's like.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but again, I think you're getting ahead of yourself.
- 36:01Speaker 2: I think you just take it one step in a time.
- 36:04Speaker 2: You do not have to solve all of the problems
- 36:05Speaker 2: on one.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Day, you know, right, that's my problem. Yeah, so just.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Don't overwhelm yourself. You know, you're dealing with a lot,
- 36:12Speaker 2: so just take it. The first step is you're going
- 36:13Speaker 2: to have a conversation with the grandmother.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Heard, And I would also say check out our episode
- 36:19Speaker 4: we did with Caramo Brown because he has a really
- 36:21Speaker 4: similar story, like he had sex with woman once and
- 36:25Speaker 4: you know, found out way later that he had a
- 36:27Speaker 4: child with her and now they have a wonderful relationship.
- 36:31Speaker 4: So check that episode out.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Okay, well, thanks for calling in.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Thanks James Black.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:38Speaker 7: Absolutely, And just lastly, anyone who's on Medicaid, there's a
- 36:42Speaker 7: lot going on right now, and when this happened, I
- 36:44Speaker 7: didn't realize that I was thrown off of it. So
- 36:47Speaker 7: anyone who's on it, anything can happen anytime. And make
- 36:49Speaker 7: sure that you're keeping up with your deadlines and stuff
- 36:52Speaker 7: like that, because they're trying to trick people left and right. Yeah,
- 36:55Speaker 7: just to throw that out, there's some scary stuff.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a really good reminder.
- 37:00Speaker 4: I mean, I know any of us can have unexpected
- 37:02Speaker 4: medical bills crop up, So if anyone wants to pitch
- 37:05Speaker 4: in and help with James's medical bills, I will put
- 37:08Speaker 4: a link in the description.
- 37:09Speaker 5: Dear Chelsea.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Listeners are always so amazing at helping folks out, and
- 37:13Speaker 4: it's a pretty small amount, so I'm sure we can
- 37:15Speaker 4: make a good dent in that.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Okay, thanks James, thank you.
- 37:21Speaker 4: Nice to meet follow up with us.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Oh god, I know.
- 37:28Speaker 6: Barcelona.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Yeah, needs to go with that other family to Barcelona.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Oh man, I know, can you imagine if you found
- 37:35Speaker 2: out that we had a baby together, Eric, can you
- 37:37Speaker 2: imagine what would you do?
- 37:39Speaker 6: Well?
- 37:40Speaker 2: I mean, and you wouldn't haven even remembered how it
- 37:42Speaker 2: happens that. No, you would have been like you, I mean, no,
- 37:49Speaker 2: not so quick, you just I mean, it's a lot
- 37:54Speaker 2: to deal with.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Unexpected things in life. It's a lot to deal with that.
- 37:59Speaker 5: No, that's that's a lot. It's a lot.
- 38:01Speaker 4: It's a lot lot now, I mean, but as a dad,
- 38:04Speaker 4: you know, obviously it's a different situation. But as a dad,
- 38:07Speaker 4: I mean, I would assume you would encourage him to
- 38:09Speaker 4: like try to develop a relationship with us kid, right.
- 38:12Speaker 2: But once you know for sure just takes what someone
- 38:15Speaker 2: says at face value like dollar general and you know
- 38:19Speaker 2: what what the.
- 38:20Speaker 8: Hard thing also is like I didn't want to ask
- 38:22Speaker 8: James this, but it's like, how would he feel would
- 38:25Speaker 8: he feel better or worse if you found out tomorrow
- 38:27Speaker 8: that the kid wasn't.
- 38:28Speaker 1: His most good questions? You ask it?
- 38:31Speaker 5: You guys were talking, I was talking about past I'm.
- 38:35Speaker 2: So sorry, you know, Like, you know what, I'd take
- 38:38Speaker 2: a pain pell today for my foot because I wanted
- 38:40Speaker 2: to be coherent for this interview. I wish I had
- 38:41Speaker 2: taken it now I really do.
- 38:44Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 38:45Speaker 8: I mean, would he be relieved or would he be
- 38:47Speaker 8: would he be devastating?
- 38:49Speaker 5: For how many years now has he thought that this
- 38:51Speaker 5: child is his?
- 38:53Speaker 2: Just recently the Dollar General store interaction? Do we have
- 38:59Speaker 2: an easier question?
- 39:00Speaker 1: Do you want me to do.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Leg something to do with motorcycles?
- 39:05Speaker 2: Have a Lego set of motorcycles that you can put together?
- 39:08Speaker 1: You know what?
- 39:08Speaker 2: A lot of grown men are into Legos? Now do
- 39:10Speaker 2: you know that it's a thing.
- 39:13Speaker 4: My sister into Legos. She's like a relaxing thing. I
- 39:17Speaker 4: put together Legos.
- 39:18Speaker 1: But are these more intricate crazy?
- 39:20Speaker 4: I think they're cute and there's you know, you can
- 39:23Speaker 4: do like a little flower pot or like different fun
- 39:25Speaker 4: cute things, or like the set of Harry Potter.
- 39:27Speaker 8: Recently a Formula one race, the the the trophies were
- 39:32Speaker 8: sponsored by Legos.
- 39:33Speaker 5: They got their podium trophies in Lego.
- 39:36Speaker 8: I'm not sure that goes in the cabinet with all
- 39:38Speaker 8: the and what happens if you drop it?
- 39:41Speaker 5: Like someone come around.
- 39:42Speaker 2: I think they're different Legos now, like they stick together,
- 39:45Speaker 2: It's not.
- 39:46Speaker 5: Like it's they fell apart.
- 39:48Speaker 2: I went to my first Formula One race at Barcelona
- 39:50Speaker 2: a couple of months ago.
- 39:51Speaker 5: You love it. Yeah, it's it's a very particular thing.
- 39:55Speaker 2: It's it's I felt watching those guys get stuffed into
- 39:58Speaker 2: those cars with that dry I was being blown in
- 40:01Speaker 2: their faces to cool them down. Made me feel And
- 40:04Speaker 2: I just can't believe that those guys are in the
- 40:06Speaker 2: car for two and a half hours.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't know it was that long. So it
- 40:10Speaker 1: was pretty intense and it's definitely athletic.
- 40:13Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's a.
- 40:14Speaker 8: Different It's also like I love it, but there is
- 40:16Speaker 8: a point where I do prefer watching it at home,
- 40:18Speaker 8: Like I do love being at the track sometimes, but
- 40:20Speaker 8: for the race, I do actually really like watching it
- 40:23Speaker 8: at home with all the commentary and stuff. But no,
- 40:26Speaker 8: it's a pretty incredible environment. I was recently on a
- 40:29Speaker 8: trip around Europe with a buddy of mine for a
- 40:31Speaker 8: few weeks on motorcycles, and we took in some motor
- 40:34Speaker 8: racing and went to the Austrian Formula one race, which
- 40:37Speaker 8: is great to compare it to because we have Melbourne
- 40:40Speaker 8: Formula one which is like five minutes from home, and
- 40:42Speaker 8: it was great to compare the differences. But yeah, it's
- 40:45Speaker 8: a whole other one.
- 40:46Speaker 1: You've never driven in one of those races, not a.
- 40:48Speaker 5: Formula one can No, I've done a lot of racing,
- 40:49Speaker 5: like GT three.
- 40:50Speaker 1: You don't have to be defensive about it.
- 40:53Speaker 6: No.
- 40:53Speaker 8: I wasn't being small dicked about it at all. I
- 40:55Speaker 8: was just, you know, trying to claim my bona fides.
- 40:59Speaker 1: There was a long conversation.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Brad Pitt was recently on Dax's podcast and they were
- 41:03Speaker 2: talking about Formula one for almost two hours, and I
- 41:05Speaker 2: texted Dax and I was like, I can't believe you
- 41:07Speaker 2: think people want to.
- 41:08Speaker 5: Listen to this ship.
- 41:09Speaker 1: People are so each I.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Just can't people love Formula one like they love it.
- 41:15Speaker 2: And the reason I went in Barcelona's because I was performing.
- 41:17Speaker 2: I was doing a show and my cousins wanted to go.
- 41:20Speaker 2: She's like, come on, let's go, you'll get the VIP treatment.
- 41:22Speaker 2: I was like, okay, we'll go, and then they put
- 41:24Speaker 2: me on the pad or like the pit or.
- 41:26Speaker 5: The what's it called? Which tame? Were you with you,
- 41:29Speaker 5: William Williams?
- 41:31Speaker 2: They both lost that day. Of course, you know what
- 41:32Speaker 2: I mean?
- 41:33Speaker 5: Do you have the headphones on and we have to
- 41:34Speaker 5: listen to all of.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I did for a while,
- 41:37Speaker 2: but you know what the best part was the catering.
- 41:39Speaker 1: I mean I've been to a lot of VIP like Wimbledon.
- 41:42Speaker 1: You know where you go to.
- 41:42Speaker 5: These suites and.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I get a hour.
- 41:47Speaker 2: I was in Glastonbury and then I went to Wimbledon
- 41:49Speaker 2: and that's where what happened with my foot?
- 41:52Speaker 5: What's next? What made your event are taken off? Next?
- 41:55Speaker 5: Have you done the Australian Open.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I'm going to do the Australia do you go?
- 41:59Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 42:00Speaker 2: Fucking love tennis. I was just watching Wimbledon this morning
- 42:02Speaker 2: before I came over here. Yeah, Alchoriz just one and
- 42:05Speaker 2: Sinner's playing jo is he beating him?
- 42:08Speaker 1: Really? How do you feel about that?
- 42:11Speaker 8: I have a lot of respect for Job. I mean
- 42:13Speaker 8: I've seen so many of his finals in Melbourne. Like
- 42:15Speaker 8: he's just a freak. I mean yeah, I mean I
- 42:18Speaker 8: love Siner as well. Like it's it's it's handing over
- 42:21Speaker 8: the guard, isn't it right? I just hope there's going
- 42:23Speaker 8: to be a third Alchris.
- 42:24Speaker 5: We need someone else, Yeah, we need a third one.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Alcoriz is so much fun to watch, Like, I love him,
- 42:29Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 42:30Speaker 2: Sinner It's an amazing player, but it's less fun to
- 42:33Speaker 2: watch that, you know, it used to be Dan hill Ski.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Choose between skiing and tennis, just like I had.
- 42:39Speaker 5: To choose him. I chose skis podcast.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I chose a podcast.
- 42:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 42:43Speaker 4: Well, Kate is deciding about whether to stay with her
- 42:46Speaker 4: long time well husband.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I guess, well, this is this will be something, this
- 42:50Speaker 1: will be something that Rebecca could relate to.
- 42:53Speaker 4: So Kate is thirty six, and she says, Dear Chelsea,
- 42:57Speaker 4: I've been married for almost eight years, together with this
- 43:00Speaker 4: for almost twenty years now. Recently, some things have come
- 43:03Speaker 4: up that I think I've always known deep down but
- 43:05Speaker 4: never wanted to fully admit. My husband is so smart
- 43:08Speaker 4: and talented in so many ways, but has never reached
- 43:11Speaker 4: his full potential. He's always bounced between dead end jobs
- 43:14Speaker 4: and unemployment. He drained our savings training to be a pilot,
- 43:17Speaker 4: but that never went anywhere. In the meantime, I've worked
- 43:20Speaker 4: my ass off to be where I'm at in a
- 43:22Speaker 4: great career and have always been the main one supporting
- 43:25Speaker 4: our household. It's exhausting. He always had excuses as to
- 43:28Speaker 4: why he didn't get promoted or doesn't get better jobs.
- 43:31Speaker 4: I always believed him and have been rooting for him
- 43:33Speaker 4: since day one, thinking this next job will be it,
- 43:36Speaker 4: It'll be the one to lead to a good career.
- 43:38Speaker 4: But it never happens, and I'm finally realizing it's him.
- 43:41Speaker 4: He's the problem. He has no motivation and show zero initiative.
- 43:45Speaker 4: That's why I'm writing, after all, my quote nagging. He
- 43:48Speaker 4: recently admitted that he's content with low level jobs forever.
- 43:52Speaker 4: He doesn't need anything more to make him happy or fulfilled.
- 43:55Speaker 4: I accept him for who he is, but I've always
- 43:57Speaker 4: wanted more for myself, and the resentment is really so
- 44:00Speaker 4: to build up.
- 44:01Speaker 6: Now.
- 44:01Speaker 4: My question is do I stay with him out of
- 44:04Speaker 4: love and except that I'll never reach my financial goals
- 44:06Speaker 4: because he's holding us back. Or is it time I
- 44:08Speaker 4: let him go and accept that I might just be
- 44:10Speaker 4: alone forever. I'm so torn and don't want to end
- 44:13Speaker 4: up regretting my decision ears down the line. Thank you, Kate.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Jesus, this is another's a shaker, like bringing the drama. Hi, Kate,
- 44:22Speaker 1: this is Eric Barner. He's here to help you today.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Hi.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Wow, that was a heavy letter. That's heavy thinking.
- 44:29Speaker 6: Yeah, it's been way on me.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it sounds like it. It sounds like it.
- 44:33Speaker 2: I would say to you, if you're talking about resentment,
- 44:36Speaker 2: that really does go away. You know, if you're going
- 44:39Speaker 2: to accept somebody for who they are, that's one thing.
- 44:42Speaker 2: But he's kind of falsely advertising who he really is,
- 44:46Speaker 2: who he really was to a degree, So there's an
- 44:49Speaker 2: that adds another layer of resentment. And I would say
- 44:52Speaker 2: I wouldn't look at this decision as like a binary choice,
- 44:56Speaker 2: like Okay, I'm staying or going. It's actually, now that
- 44:58Speaker 2: you've written all of this it out loud, you're calling in,
- 45:01Speaker 2: you're acknowledging all these feelings. It's kind of like, okay,
- 45:05Speaker 2: well where does this new information take you? Now that
- 45:07Speaker 2: you know he's content living like that. I don't want
- 45:11Speaker 2: you to look at it like what if I'm alone forever?
- 45:13Speaker 2: Don't think at anything like that, Like that's not the option.
- 45:16Speaker 2: It's not him or you're alone forever. You could meet
- 45:18Speaker 2: somebody else down the road. You could meet somebody in
- 45:20Speaker 2: two months, you could meet somebody in two years. You
- 45:21Speaker 2: never know who you're going to meet. I doubt you're
- 45:23Speaker 2: gonna be alone. Most people aren't. Just by everything that
- 45:26Speaker 2: you're saying, it sounds like you're getting ready to make
- 45:29Speaker 2: a move.
- 45:30Speaker 3: I'm definitely leaning on that side of I think that's
- 45:33Speaker 3: where my head is at. I think I just I
- 45:36Speaker 3: don't know. I just love having like an outside perspective of, like,
- 45:40Speaker 3: am I making the right choice? I don't know, just
- 45:43Speaker 3: any sort of validation that I'm not screwing this up
- 45:47Speaker 3: by leaving. It's just a lot of mixed emotions, so
- 45:50Speaker 3: any I'm just trying to talk to a therapist, I'm
- 45:53Speaker 3: trying to talk to all my friends, I'm trying to
- 45:54Speaker 3: talk to family. Outside perspectives is you know. I'm just
- 45:58Speaker 3: trying to not make like a rash move immediately.
- 46:01Speaker 1: And just like right, I think that's smart.
- 46:03Speaker 2: I don't think it should be a rash move, but
- 46:05Speaker 2: I think you should acknowledge everything that you're feeling. Like,
- 46:08Speaker 2: if you have a lot of resentment, that's not necessarily
- 46:09Speaker 2: just going to disappear. Being ambitious and wanting more for
- 46:12Speaker 2: yourself is not selfish. That's the type of person you are,
- 46:16Speaker 2: and acknowledging that is really important. As a woman, it's
- 46:18Speaker 2: really important also to acknowledge that and not to be
- 46:21Speaker 2: held back by this idea of like loyalty or love,
- 46:25Speaker 2: like he'll be okay too. Everyone survives, People get divorced
- 46:27Speaker 2: all the time. If that's the road that you go down,
- 46:30Speaker 2: you really just also have to honor where you see
- 46:32Speaker 2: yourself in your life, like take the time that is
- 46:34Speaker 2: necessary to make a deep decision like this and spend
- 46:37Speaker 2: time alone with yourself, with your thoughts, with a therapist
- 46:41Speaker 2: and really contemplate how you see your future moving forward
- 46:44Speaker 2: without him, if that's you know, one option, and how
- 46:48Speaker 2: it would look with him.
- 46:50Speaker 6: Yeah, and I think that's. Yeah.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Kind of what I've been talking to with my therapist
- 46:53Speaker 3: is just like what my values are and I feel
- 46:55Speaker 3: like we're just kind of growing apart, and like my
- 46:58Speaker 3: values and his values maybe don't line at this point,
- 47:01Speaker 3: like maybe dated ten years ago, but at this point,
- 47:03Speaker 3: I feel like I'm trying to continue to grow myself
- 47:07Speaker 3: and like improve myself, and I just don't think that
- 47:10Speaker 3: he cares to do that.
- 47:12Speaker 6: And so yeah, if those values don't ALIGNE.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Like it's not even values, it's just kind of like
- 47:18Speaker 2: values almost sounds like you're judging him for It's it's
- 47:22Speaker 2: what you want, your desires, Like you're desiring a different
- 47:25Speaker 2: type of life. It's not like he's a bad guy
- 47:28Speaker 2: and you're a good person.
- 47:29Speaker 1: It's not like that.
- 47:30Speaker 2: It's just that you kind of seem like you're on
- 47:32Speaker 2: two different trajectories. He's content with where he is and
- 47:35Speaker 2: you're not.
- 47:36Speaker 8: So school also be really, really tough because you guys
- 47:39Speaker 8: obviously met really young.
- 47:40Speaker 5: You've been together for a long time.
- 47:42Speaker 6: So he did since like nineteen twenty.
- 47:45Speaker 8: Yeah, so in a lot of ways, you didn't get
- 47:48Speaker 8: to see your fully formed partner until you were well
- 47:51Speaker 8: and truly truly married. So like if you had a
- 47:54Speaker 8: met in your mid twenties, it's maybe a little different.
- 47:57Speaker 8: You might have identified things in your husband that you
- 48:00Speaker 8: can now that would have been less negotiable up until now.
- 48:03Speaker 5: I'm really sorry you're in this position.
- 48:06Speaker 8: There's a naive part of me that goes, oh, he
- 48:08Speaker 8: sounds like a really I don't want to say, low
- 48:11Speaker 8: maintenance husband. But is he happy with I know so
- 48:14Speaker 8: many men who are so so driven and have achieved
- 48:17Speaker 8: so much, and it was so miserable and bitter, and
- 48:20Speaker 8: then I hear this, so I'm like, oh, this guy
- 48:22Speaker 8: doesn't have as much as a lot of people. But
- 48:24Speaker 8: is he Is he truly happy? Or I don't know
- 48:27Speaker 8: enough about him to be able to make, you know,
- 48:29Speaker 8: that sort of a sort of a call. But there's
- 48:31Speaker 8: a side of me that goes that's kind of a
- 48:33Speaker 8: really nice thing as well. That's someone who's not crazily driven,
- 48:36Speaker 8: still really happy with their lot in life, and he
- 48:38Speaker 8: probably I'm hoping he adores you. So there's that side obviously,
- 48:42Speaker 8: but I can hear in your voice maybe that's not
- 48:45Speaker 8: fully the case. It's a real it's a real tough one.
- 48:48Speaker 8: But you could also end up with someone who's all
- 48:50Speaker 8: the things you want, who's incredibly driven, who's who's maybe
- 48:54Speaker 8: never home and he's just miserable all the time. I mean,
- 48:57Speaker 8: that's also possible, right right. I'm not discounting any of
- 48:59Speaker 8: the way feeling is Chelsea.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I just think it's really important as women, first
- 49:03Speaker 2: and foremost to really honor the like thoughts and feelings
- 49:07Speaker 2: you have around a relationship and not stay there for
- 49:10Speaker 2: someone else.
- 49:11Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 49:11Speaker 2: You really have to look out for yourself because no
- 49:14Speaker 2: one else is going to look out for you, but you,
- 49:16Speaker 2: like no one is going to make the best decisions
- 49:18Speaker 2: for yourself, and whatever your decision ends up being is
- 49:20Speaker 2: going to be the right one anyway. You know, you're
- 49:22Speaker 2: going to make a left or you're going to make
- 49:23Speaker 2: a right, and you're going to double down in that direction.
- 49:26Speaker 2: And if you stay, you're going to double down on
- 49:27Speaker 2: your marriage, and good things can come from that too.
- 49:30Speaker 2: It's kind of like almost like you have to become
- 49:32Speaker 2: non emotional about it.
- 49:33Speaker 3: You know. Yeah, that's a hard part because yeah, I
- 49:37Speaker 3: completely agree with Yeah, he's such a great person and
- 49:41Speaker 3: like that's why I look at my life like, well,
- 49:43Speaker 3: I mean, anybody that's so low maintenance as him.
- 49:46Speaker 6: He's like the most low maintenance person ever.
- 49:49Speaker 3: But yeah, like the same thing you're saying to Chelsea, Like,
- 49:52Speaker 3: I I'm a woman and I feel like I need
- 49:54Speaker 3: to look out for myself and like my desires.
- 49:57Speaker 6: I don't know, it's just it's such a hard place
- 49:59Speaker 6: to be in.
- 50:00Speaker 2: So there's no rush at all. You know, it's good
- 50:03Speaker 2: to just really like think. I mean, the only bad
- 50:05Speaker 2: decisions are the really impulsive ones. So as long as
- 50:09Speaker 2: you're putting a lot of thought into this, you're going
- 50:11Speaker 2: to come out and make the right.
- 50:12Speaker 5: Decision, I hope.
- 50:13Speaker 4: So one thing that might help as you're sort of
- 50:15Speaker 4: making this decision is you wouldn't help to.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Have sex with Eric Bannett, would that help and making
- 50:21Speaker 2: this decision on offer because we can do this right now?
- 50:25Speaker 1: Okay, ye, would you be willing to do that if
- 50:28Speaker 1: you thought it would help Eric?
- 50:32Speaker 5: He acts like this, but you know, I'm sorry shy,
- 50:37Speaker 5: and he's like, she's sharing her thinking out loud. That's good.
- 50:46Speaker 1: I mean, this is a good solution.
- 50:47Speaker 5: Actually, I mean this wasn't.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Look here we are now here we are.
- 50:53Speaker 4: But as you're sort of like dealing with these two
- 50:55Speaker 4: like very different decisions, one thing you can do is
- 50:59Speaker 4: pretend like you made a decision one way and sit
- 51:01Speaker 4: with it for a couple of days and feel how
- 51:04Speaker 4: it fails. And then take a couple of days where
- 51:06Speaker 4: you've quote unquote made the other decision and like see
- 51:09Speaker 4: which one feels good, which one feels like a relief
- 51:13Speaker 4: to you.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I've kind of been doing that over the last
- 51:17Speaker 3: couple of months, and I think I keep going back
- 51:20Speaker 3: to leaving and I think that's my answer. I just
- 51:26Speaker 3: I don't know, trying to make sure that's the right answer.
- 51:28Speaker 3: And so I appreciate all of the advice, yeah, from everybody.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Keep us posted when you do make a decision. I'd
- 51:34Speaker 2: like to know what happens. And Eric wants a follow
- 51:36Speaker 2: up too, he wants to know what happens to all
- 51:39Speaker 2: of our.
- 51:42Speaker 5: What happens.
- 51:43Speaker 1: And I've already tried to have sex with him. It's
- 51:44Speaker 1: not going to work. He's actually married happily.
- 51:46Speaker 2: So listen, I think all of these conversations, like, I
- 51:50Speaker 2: think a lot of women are going through this right now.
- 51:52Speaker 1: You're not alone in right like, there's a lot of
- 51:54Speaker 1: women of our age that are happening.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure you're younger than me, but like
- 51:59Speaker 2: in the world today realizing like maybe we don't need
- 52:01Speaker 2: this partner. Maybe I certainly don't need a partner for
- 52:05Speaker 2: what you know, you better bring a lot to the table,
- 52:08Speaker 2: so like I can totally relate to why you be
- 52:10Speaker 2: feeling this way, and that so many women are feeling
- 52:13Speaker 2: this way.
- 52:14Speaker 5: Do you have children together?
- 52:16Speaker 7: No?
- 52:16Speaker 6: Thank God, that's the one thing I don't have to
- 52:18Speaker 6: worry about. I mean, we have a lot of animals,
- 52:20Speaker 6: but no children.
- 52:21Speaker 5: So okay, Well, I.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Would say that's your answer right there.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Get I would say you can get out free without
- 52:27Speaker 2: children and that then hell yeah, and then get out.
- 52:30Speaker 1: I don't mean to be harsh about it, but that's
- 52:33Speaker 1: how I feel.
- 52:34Speaker 3: No, but I appreciate the harshness because I'm kind of
- 52:36Speaker 3: a harsh person too. So yeah, but with him, I've
- 52:39Speaker 3: just been taking care of him for our whole entire lives. Yeah,
- 52:42Speaker 3: and so I feel like he's the one person that
- 52:44Speaker 3: I'm not harsh with. And maybe I need to start
- 52:47Speaker 3: I need to do that.
- 52:48Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Kate, will you follow up with us?
- 52:51Speaker 3: I will absolutely thank you, Thank you, good luck, k
- 52:56Speaker 3: Thank you guys so much.
- 52:57Speaker 6: I appreciate it.
- 52:58Speaker 5: Chelsea.
- 52:59Speaker 4: I think you bring up a really good point. And
- 53:00Speaker 4: I mentioned this to her when we chatted in our
- 53:02Speaker 4: pre interview. I feel like, for me right now, there's
- 53:04Speaker 4: a lot of women around who are around me who
- 53:06Speaker 4: are leaving a marriage, not because there was some big
- 53:09Speaker 4: chaotic breakup or cheating or whatever. It's just because like
- 53:14Speaker 4: I think there's something better, or this doesn't feel like
- 53:16Speaker 4: the right fit, or we've grown apart, and.
- 53:18Speaker 2: That's not a bad Like that's not the biggest failure
- 53:21Speaker 2: in the world when something doesn't work out, Like I
- 53:23Speaker 2: think that's what women are coming to grips with that
- 53:25Speaker 2: it's not the end of your world if you break up,
- 53:28Speaker 2: if your marriage breaks up, Like the dissolution of a
- 53:30Speaker 2: marriage doesn't mean it's over, Like you can have a
- 53:33Speaker 2: new beginning, like and you know, men it seem to
- 53:35Speaker 2: have lat nine lives.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Men get married three or four times and.
- 53:38Speaker 2: You're like, oh, women just aren't as codependent, and women
- 53:42Speaker 2: are like you know, they're going through something. I mean,
- 53:44Speaker 2: I feel like, when you have to make a really
- 53:46Speaker 2: hard decision, Eric, is there a decision you can think
- 53:48Speaker 2: of that you really had to struggle with? Because I
- 53:50Speaker 2: always just think, make a decision in either direction and
- 53:53Speaker 2: then just go with that.
- 53:54Speaker 5: I do sit on them for quite a long time,
- 53:56Speaker 5: like indecisive. No, no, not even to saw us Eve.
- 54:00Speaker 8: I don't like to feel pressured into making a quick decision,
- 54:03Speaker 8: you know, So I'm comfortable sitting on it for quite
- 54:06Speaker 8: a while.
- 54:06Speaker 5: But it's it's and it sounds like I could just
- 54:08Speaker 5: hear it in a voice. There's she's lost some respect
- 54:11Speaker 5: for him.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:12Speaker 5: It's hard to move past that, isn't it.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I think once you get to that point, yeah,
- 54:17Speaker 2: because it all sounds like a great idea when you're
- 54:19Speaker 2: starting out, but you have to grow and evolve together
- 54:21Speaker 2: and taking care of someone is not sexy.
- 54:24Speaker 1: That's not hot. You know, no one gets turned on
- 54:26Speaker 1: by that. Yeah they think they are they going to
- 54:29Speaker 1: like that.
- 54:29Speaker 2: But there is some sort of like awakening or uprising
- 54:33Speaker 2: happening with women right now.
- 54:34Speaker 5: So you are helping forge that.
- 54:36Speaker 3: I am.
- 54:37Speaker 5: I've been helping.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Forge it before I was even here. Well, thank you,
- 54:40Speaker 2: I didn't it couldn't tell if you were serious.
- 54:43Speaker 5: I'm deadly serious.
- 54:43Speaker 1: I appreciate that.
- 54:44Speaker 5: I'm deadly serious. Thank you.
- 54:46Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean you've probably helped a lot of people
- 54:48Speaker 8: really really move on and like empowered it.
- 54:50Speaker 2: And I'm but I'm not like a proponent of like
- 54:52Speaker 2: I don't want to be a relationship wrecker, like get
- 54:56Speaker 2: away from him, Like I'm not anti man.
- 54:58Speaker 1: I just think that I'm pro woman, you know what
- 54:59Speaker 1: I mean.
- 55:00Speaker 8: I'm just saying it's not the end of the world, Like,
- 55:01Speaker 8: don't look yourself as a failure if a relationship doesn't work,
- 55:04Speaker 8: because I think I think a lot of people do
- 55:06Speaker 8: have that baggage associated with like how how is this
- 55:10Speaker 8: going to?
- 55:10Speaker 5: Am I a failure? With these files? Like how does
- 55:13Speaker 5: this reflect on me as a person?
- 55:14Speaker 6: Right?
- 55:15Speaker 5: Right? Something of the world?
- 55:16Speaker 2: No, and you survive everything even if someone like the
- 55:20Speaker 2: worst things that could happen in your life.
- 55:21Speaker 1: You are survivable.
- 55:22Speaker 2: So once you have a enough life experience, you realize, oh,
- 55:25Speaker 2: I'm not going to be broken.
- 55:27Speaker 6: You know what I mean.
- 55:27Speaker 2: Somebody doesn't have another person doesn't necessarily have the power
- 55:30Speaker 2: to break you.
- 55:31Speaker 1: That's kind of on you.
- 55:32Speaker 5: Yeah. Cool, it's a cool message.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Okay, we're gonna wrap up. We'll be right back. I'm
- 55:37Speaker 1: going to give Eric a quick bath and then we're
- 55:38Speaker 1: going to be right back to wrap up this podcast,
- 55:45Speaker 1: and we're back with Eric Bannett.
- 55:47Speaker 5: I'm so much cleaner now.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Eric Bannett one of my favorite people. Love him so much,
- 55:51Speaker 2: Love you so much. And the new show is called Untamed.
- 55:53Speaker 2: It's now streaming on Netflix. So if you want to
- 55:56Speaker 2: watch some Eric Banner porn, that's where you should watch it.
- 56:02Speaker 5: Six whole hours of it, six hours of Aaron Bana.
- 56:06Speaker 8: You do.
- 56:06Speaker 1: You know, you don't come at us all the time,
- 56:08Speaker 1: So when we get you, we have to we have
- 56:10Speaker 1: to watch it.
- 56:11Speaker 5: Limited supply.
- 56:12Speaker 2: You're not oversaturating yourself. So no, it's a limited supply and.
- 56:15Speaker 1: We're lucky to have it.
- 56:17Speaker 8: Get it before the WiFi drops that I'll say, you know,
- 56:20Speaker 8: that's right limited supply.
- 56:22Speaker 2: I also want to say one thing about Australians before
- 56:24Speaker 2: you go. I have a lot of Australians in my
- 56:26Speaker 2: life and they have to rob it and I thought, well,
- 56:30Speaker 2: most of them are Sydney, but they always think they're
- 56:33Speaker 2: right about everything.
- 56:35Speaker 5: Really, yes, that's a Sydney thing, is it?
- 56:38Speaker 3: Is it?
- 56:38Speaker 1: Because that's what my next question was, A bit.
- 56:41Speaker 5: More people from mel bit more bit more?
- 56:43Speaker 2: Yeah, explaining to me that, like, I was listening to
- 56:45Speaker 2: a podcast with my friend if she is, she's Australian,
- 56:48Speaker 2: and while we were listening to the podcast, she was
- 56:49Speaker 2: explaining the podcast to me, I'm like, I can't hear anything.
- 56:53Speaker 5: How is it?
- 56:54Speaker 8: It's just because you always hang out and suit? How
- 56:56Speaker 8: is it you don't you don't have many Melbourne friends?
- 56:57Speaker 2: You have more, you know, because I think Melbourne people
- 57:00Speaker 2: stay in Australia and Sydney people move to the States.
- 57:04Speaker 2: But yeah, Sydney is my city there. I would love
- 57:07Speaker 2: to live in Australia one day. I mean that's really
- 57:09Speaker 2: just like kind of a very idyllic lifestyle.
- 57:13Speaker 8: It's a great place to leave. But you got you got,
- 57:15Speaker 8: you got a pretty good he got your little place
- 57:17Speaker 8: up in whistle there. You just just get up there
- 57:19Speaker 8: with your.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Dogs and my bear, my bear that I'm going to
- 57:22Speaker 2: find another steak out on your front porch.
- 57:25Speaker 5: I don't think so. I'm not that stupid. I'm hearing
- 57:28Speaker 5: three properties, none of them in Australia. That's what I'm hearing.
- 57:30Speaker 5: That's what you are here.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's what you're hearing. No miracle ear for you.
- 57:35Speaker 1: You've got this. Okay, Eric, thank you so much.
- 57:38Speaker 5: So awesome to see you.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Thanks for having always loved it.
- 57:42Speaker 5: Oh god.
