- 0:43And Lord, we pray that you'll bring new Jerusalem, the holy
- 0:46city, and set it upon a new earth, made new everything, made
- 0:52new. Father, I pray, Lord, in the
- 0:55mighty name of Jesus, for your will to be done.
- 1:00Not our own, not our selfish desires, God, but help us to
- 1:05pray the things that are on your heart.
- 1:08God, help us to step in to what you have for us today.
- 1:14Lord, I pray for fresh bread today.
- 1:17Lord, I pray that we'll be able to eat sumptuously and dine with
- 1:22you. God, we ask that you could come
- 1:26in. Lord, dine with us, Sup with us.
- 1:30God, we invite you in to our hearts.
- 1:32We invite you in to the Hallows of our minds and our emotions.
- 1:36God, nothing compartmentalized, Lord, nothing off limits or we
- 1:41give you full access today. Come in Father, give us daily
- 1:48bread, Give us your manna. God, give us the words of life.
- 1:54Father, I pray that we will be forgiven for all the times we've
- 1:58missed the mark. God, help us to be a forgiving
- 2:01people. Help us not to live an offence,
- 2:04Father, help us to not live offended, Father, help us to
- 2:09forgive. Help us to extend forgiveness
- 2:12out God, and not live in the past and not be fearful of
- 2:18tomorrow. But God, live for today, for
- 2:21such a time as this, we would let tomorrow worry about itself.
- 2:27And so, God, I pray that you'll bind the enemy today from off of
- 2:31us. Bind the enemy from off of our
- 2:33houses. Bind the enemy from off of our
- 2:35children. Bind the enemy from off of this
- 2:38nation. God, bind the enemy from off of
- 2:40the world, Father and I pray that we'll live in liberty.
- 2:45God has liberated Saints marked by your goodness and grace and
- 2:49mercy and love. Father, help us to be healed in
- 2:53the mighty name of Jesus. Heal our minds and heal our
- 2:57bodies. Today will we Thank you for life
- 3:03and life abundant, for yours is the Kingdom and the power and
- 3:08the glory, forever and ever and ever.
- 3:10Father, for all of eternity, Lord, you are exalted, high and
- 3:17lifted up. We love you Yeshua, I decrease
- 3:21as you increase. Holy Spirit fill and teach and
- 3:24correct. Convict us Holy Spirit, show us
- 3:29or the heart of God, show us the mind of Christ and we love you.
- 3:35And this in Jesus name that we pray, Amen.
- 3:39Let's start in verse one. Thus the heavens and the earth
- 3:44were finished and all the hosts of them.
- 3:46God created the domains and then He filled them with everything
- 3:51and man was the pinnacle of it all, made in God's image in His
- 3:55masterpiece verse 2. And on the 7th day God ended his
- 3:59work which he had made, and he rested on the 7th day from all
- 4:04his work which He had made. So here He is modeling for us
- 4:09how we are to operate within our life.
- 4:13And you know, if God rested on the 7th day, how much more
- 4:20should we take the opportunity to give our bodies and our minds
- 4:26a rest and not think that we can just continue to move through
- 4:31life and do whatever we want to do?
- 4:35And continue to spin our wheels and think that we are
- 4:39inexhaustible. When in reality, we have to stop
- 4:43and sharpen the saw so that when we get back after it, we're so
- 4:48much more able and so much more sharper so that we can be
- 4:57productive friends. And it's counterintuitive to
- 5:01think that by stopping and resting, we could be more
- 5:05productive. And if this is the opposite of
- 5:09how the world works, there are cities that never sleep.
- 5:13And there are people who try to get the most out of life by
- 5:17never stopping. But they feel the noise of their
- 5:21life. They fill their days with so
- 5:24many different things, and they never stop and get quiet and
- 5:28listen for that still, small voice.
- 5:31And here you need to understand the model of God.
- 5:35And we know that God is always at work.
- 5:39We know that He's working even up to this day.
- 5:42But here He modeled for us what we are to do.
- 5:47And we were not created for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath was
- 5:52created for us, and it is for our benefit.
- 5:56And it is also to our detriment whenever we do not take
- 6:02advantage of a day to rest and to turn everything off and to
- 6:08meditate upon God and to get still and listen to Him.
- 6:13And you need to incorporate this into your daily life, not just
- 6:17the one day, friends. You need to incorporate God's
- 6:21presence in your life when you are at work and when you are at
- 6:25play and when you are at leisure.
- 6:28It is not just one day a week that we are invited into the
- 6:32rest of God, but our physical bodies need to stop, our minds
- 6:40need to be able to take a break. And we need to just trust God's
- 6:44process that we take one single day a week and turn it all off
- 6:53and focus our attention upon Him and rest and refuse to buy into
- 6:58the lie that more is more because it is not.
- 7:03Friends verse 3. And God blessed the 7th day, and
- 7:11he sanctified it because that in it he had rested from all his
- 7:15work, which God created and made.
- 7:19So God didn't have to take this rest, but He did it for our
- 7:23benefit. He did it as a model, friends,
- 7:26for us, for mankind, so that we could know that one day a week
- 7:33we need to stop and we need to hit the pause button.
- 7:37We need to let everything rebuild.
- 7:40We need to sharpen the saw. We need to Polish the ice.
- 7:46We've been out on the ice skating and we need to get off
- 7:50the ice and allow the Zamboni to come and Polish it and to make
- 7:55it able to engage and not burn out the rest of the week.
- 8:02And that is where a lot of people are.
- 8:04They're in perpetual state of burnout and they call it
- 8:08productivity, but they're ornery and they have no joy.
- 8:13And it is because they're refusing to step into the model
- 8:17that God created for them. Four, these are the generations
- 8:26of the heavens and of the earth when they were created in the
- 8:31day that the Lord God made the earth in the heavens.
- 8:34So here we get to see another angle of the creation account,
- 8:42and this is much like the Gospels being repeated 4 times
- 8:47and from different angles. We're going to get to see
- 8:50another angle. The first angle was from God
- 8:54Almighty's viewpoint, and this angle is from Adam's viewpoint.
- 9:02Five in every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and
- 9:06every herb of the field before it grew.
- 9:09For the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and
- 9:13there was not a man to till the ground.
- 9:15So prior to the flood, we can see from a biblical context that
- 9:22it had not yet rained, but there was dew that would come and it
- 9:26would water all of the plants of the earth.
- 9:29And that is why when Noah was building this gigantic box in
- 9:33the middle of dry land, he was ridiculed.
- 9:37There was no rudder, there was no sail, there was no motor,
- 9:41just a gigantic box. And it had never rained prior to
- 9:46that 6. But there went up a mist from
- 9:51the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.
- 9:54It is also surmised that it was a tropical environment during
- 10:02this time. There was no caps on poles,
- 10:06there was no ice, so everything was tropical and it would have
- 10:12been a lush environment. 6 We see that the rain was not
- 10:21necessary, and we see that the waters coming up from springs
- 10:26out of the ground. Seven And the Lord God formed
- 10:29man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils
- 10:34the breath of life, and the man became a living soul.
- 10:38So this is where we have the climax of all of creation, the
- 10:43masterpiece. God never breathed into an
- 10:46angel's mouth. He never breathed into an
- 10:49angel's nostrils, friends, but here for mankind, He gave us
- 10:55this ruach. He gave us the breath, He gave
- 10:58us His life, and He breathed into us.
- 11:03And that is the beauty of the masterpiece of mankind and that
- 11:10is where we get our dignity. That is why we are such under
- 11:14attack from the fallen angels. And they want us to distort our
- 11:19genders and distort our image. Friends, That is why the angels
- 11:28are the fallen angels are so obsessed with marrying human
- 11:34image, Friends with all of the marks that we put upon our
- 11:39bodies. That is why Friends, is because
- 11:42we're made in God's image and they delight.
- 11:45The fallen angels delight every time that a human being buys the
- 11:50lie, and they do not realize that they are made in God's
- 11:54image. When we buy the lie that we're
- 11:57just animals. When we buy the lie that there
- 12:02is nothing beyond the grave, When we buy the lie, friends,
- 12:05that we are worthless, That is the greatest lie that the enemy
- 12:11tells mankind. And you need to understand here
- 12:15that we have the highest place in God's sight for all of the
- 12:23things that He created. Mankind is higher than the
- 12:27mountains, he's higher than the depths of the sea, he's higher
- 12:31than all the planets in all of the galaxies, He's higher than
- 12:37the angelic order, friends. And that is what you need to
- 12:40know. And here we are in a body with a
- 12:46soul, and we have a spirit, and the spirit is what goes on to be
- 12:52with the Lord forever and ever. And we will be able to have
- 12:57immortal, incorruptible bodies one day when we have to take off
- 13:01this earthly tent. But in the meantime, and in
- 13:05between time, we await expectantly of what God is going
- 13:10to do. And we cannot buy the lie,
- 13:13friends, that we are lesser. We cannot buy the lie that we
- 13:17are worthless. And this is where so much
- 13:20suicide and so much of the cutting and so much of the self
- 13:28defecation, so much of all of the terrible things that mankind
- 13:35does to itself comes from, is because we do not understand our
- 13:39worth in light of God's creation and the fact that we are made in
- 13:46His image. 8 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in
- 13:53Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
- 13:56So he put us in a perfect environment, friends. 9 and out
- 14:02of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is
- 14:05pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life.
- 14:09Also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of
- 14:13good and evil. So we saw that tree of life pop
- 14:16back up in the Book of Revelation towards the end
- 14:19whenever the new heaven and the new earth is created.
- 14:22And he says, behold, I make all things new.
- 14:25And you need to know that this tree of life is going to be
- 14:29available to all of the saved and we'll be able to eat from
- 14:34it. And it sustains life and it
- 14:39gives us the immortality, friends.
- 14:44And here you can see that in the Garden of Eden it is there.
- 14:50And this also He has the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
- 14:55friends. And that is the reality is that
- 15:00God put it there and He put it there on purpose.
- 15:04He didn't make a mistake by putting it in there.
- 15:08And He gave us free will, and we have to make a choice for God.
- 15:16And here Adam is told to make a choice if he was to obey God or
- 15:22not. Tan and a river went out of Eden
- 15:28to water the garden, and from there it was parted and became
- 15:32foreheads. So here is an illustration of
- 15:36the actual literal geographical topography of the Garden of
- 15:44Eden. And we can see that Adam was
- 15:48placed there and it was perfect and beautiful, but it was a real
- 15:55place. And he's going to describe for
- 15:58us all the rivers that were there. 11 The name of the first
- 16:05is Pison, and it it is which compasses the whole land of
- 16:11Havilah where there is gold. So he even goes into detail of
- 16:16the fact that there was gold there in Havilah. 12 And the
- 16:22gold of that land is good. There is bedlam in the Onyx
- 16:27stone. So he even goes into not only
- 16:31the gold that's there, the river that flows through there, but
- 16:34also the stones that can be found in that land.
- 16:37So you know that this is a real, true, trustworthy account before
- 16:45the fall of mankind, that this was a place that Adam had seen.
- 16:5513 In the name of the second river is Guihong.
- 16:59The same is it that compasses the whole land of Ethiopia, So
- 17:04it flowed down into Africa. This is the land of Cush 14 and
- 17:12the name of the third river is Hidekel.
- 17:16That is it which goes toward the east of Assyria.
- 17:21So this is flowing up and towards Assyria.
- 17:26And the fourth river is Euphrates.
- 17:29So here we're getting to see an account of this actual place
- 17:34that Adam lived in this perfect abode, the Garden of Eden. 15
- 17:40And the Lord God took the man and put him into the Garden of
- 17:44Eden to dress it and to keep it. So here Adam is all by himself,
- 17:50the highest order of God's creative act, and he is told to
- 17:56work the ground. And this is a beautiful picture,
- 18:00friends, and we actually got to see it in the Book of Revelation
- 18:03where it says the servants will serve him.
- 18:06There's work to do, but God invites us into this work.
- 18:10And if you look and see that Adam was told to work, this is
- 18:15prior to the fall. It was only that God, after the
- 18:19fall, which we will see, he increased the work to where it
- 18:23was laborious. And it was from the sweat of the
- 18:27brow, and it was from thorns and thistles trying to scratch a
- 18:31living out. And here you need to understand
- 18:36that this tilling of the ground and the serving of God is
- 18:39beautiful and it is a wonderful time of fellowship with God.
- 18:45And that is available to us today if we will step into the
- 18:50reality that God is with us in the work.
- 18:54We do not need to think that heaven will be a place where we
- 18:57just float around on clouds singing hymnals all day.
- 19:01It will be a place of purpose and God will have things for us
- 19:06to do. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying of
- 19:16every tree of the garden you may eat freely.
- 19:19So this is the beauty of how God operates.
- 19:23He creates this abundant paradise for Adam to live in,
- 19:28and he's filled it with all of the different kinds of plants
- 19:32and trees and animals. And he gave Adam the domain.
- 19:39He gave them the dominion over all the creatures that he had
- 19:43created. And he told him that he could
- 19:47eat from any of the trees, except for this. 117 butt of the
- 19:53tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
- 19:56You shall not eat of it, for in the day that you eat of it, you
- 20:00shall surely die. So here is where Adam has to
- 20:04make a choice. And notice that Eve is not in
- 20:06the picture yet God is giving this commandment to Adam in this
- 20:14moment. 18 And the Lord God said it is not good that the man
- 20:19should be alone. I will make him a help meet for
- 20:24him. So here you can see that out of
- 20:30all of God's creation, he said. It is good and it is good and it
- 20:35is. Good.
- 20:36And it is good. And it is.
- 20:37Good and it is good. And here we see for the first
- 20:42time God says it is not good for man to be alone.
- 20:48And by and large, in the vast scheme of all of humanity, it is
- 20:55much better for us to have a helper, for man to have a
- 21:02helper. But there are some who are
- 21:04called, and there are few that are called into celibacy and are
- 21:09called into mission work. But in the grand scheme of
- 21:13things, it is much better for a man to have a helper, to have a
- 21:17helpmate, to have a wife, and to produce children and procreate
- 21:23and fill this world with men and women who love the Lord God
- 21:27Almighty and who serve Jesus Christ. 19 And out of the ground
- 21:36the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every fowl of
- 21:41the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call
- 21:45them. And whatsoever Adam called every
- 21:48living creature, that was the name of it.
- 21:51So here you can see Eve is not made and God does an object
- 21:57lesson where he brings the animals in pairs and there's a
- 22:02male and a female and a male and a female and a male and a
- 22:06female. And Adam goes through, and he
- 22:09names every single one of them, noticing that he himself does
- 22:13not have a pair. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, the
- 22:20fowl of the air, every beast of the field, But for Adam there
- 22:25was not found to help meet for him. 21 And the Lord God caused
- 22:29a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept, And he took one of
- 22:33his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof.
- 22:39So here we see that God put Adam to sleep.
- 22:44He sedated them, and then he took one of his ribs out, 22 And
- 22:50the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, he made a woman
- 22:56and brought her to the man. So you could see that God did
- 23:02not make woman from the foot of Adam so that he could be over
- 23:10her. And God did not make woman from
- 23:15the head of Adam so that she could be over him.
- 23:21But God wisely took her from his side so that they could be side
- 23:29by side and he could protect her, and that they would be 1
- 23:38And that this is the purpose of it all.
- 23:40God could have just spoke Eve into existence.
- 23:45He could have done the same with Eve that he did with all the
- 23:49animals and just caused her to be made and created and appear,
- 23:56but he did not. He chose to take her from Adam's
- 24:00side, from under his arm, and that is the beauty of the woman.
- 24:1323 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my
- 24:21flesh. She shall be called woman,
- 24:24because she was taken out of man.
- 24:28So here you can see that there is not another more beautiful
- 24:34creature in all of creation than the woman.
- 24:39The woman is the most beautiful out of every single thing that
- 24:44God had created. And here Adam waxes eloquently
- 24:49when he sees her. He breaks out into poetry and
- 24:55you can see that she is his. Help me.
- 25:00She is compatible, and they are one. 24 Therefore shall a man
- 25:08leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and they
- 25:12shall be 1 flesh. This speaks of marriage.
- 25:16This speaks of a supernatural union that happens when a
- 25:21husband and a wife come together, friends and only God
- 25:25can knit them together as one. And 2 is better than one,
- 25:32because if one falls down, the other can help the other one up.
- 25:37But three is even better than two.
- 25:39A triple braided cord, which God in the center of it all,
- 25:43friends, that is the purpose. And they are 1 flesh.
- 25:49And we'll end on 25. And they were both naked, the
- 25:52man and his wife, and they were not ashamed.
- 25:57We are naked and bare before a holy God.
- 26:00Naked we came into this world and naked we will leave.
- 26:05We brought nothing in, we'll take nothing out, but we can
- 26:07sure send it ahead. Friends, look at how amazing
- 26:12God's creation story is. This is unparalleled to any
- 26:17creation story that any other people group try to put
- 26:27together. This is the actual creation
- 26:32account. There is none that could even
- 26:36come close to these first couple chapters in Genesis.
- 26:41And the things that are omitted are omitted on purpose, and they
- 26:46are for us to take by faith and believe that this is exactly the
- 26:51way that it happened and this is a miracle from God.
- 26:58But it's no more of a miracle than God speaking it all into
- 27:02existence. And you could see Adam being
- 27:05formed from the dust and God breathing into him.
- 27:08You could see Eve being formed from Adam's rib.
- 27:12And this is the beginning of all mankind, all civilizations, all
- 27:18people groups, for all time's sake.
- 27:21This is the beauty of how God works.
- 27:25And He invites us in to this relationship with Him, and He
- 27:30reveals Himself to mankind. And it's up to us to respond and
- 27:35to choose Him. And I pray that you have hope.
- 27:40You've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 27:44I know I sure have many times over.
- 27:48I'm praying for you. I love you.
- 27:52We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 27:54God bless you.
