- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here, live from Juliet, Illinois.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Today we will be addressing the elephant in the room, that WASDI report that came out on Friday, as well as talking about some things about pork exports, this whole energy ceasefire over there in the Middle East.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: We'll get to all of that and more here in a bit.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Live cattle were up$3.50 at$2.27 about even there.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Feeder cattle were up seven bucks at$341.95.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Lean hogs came back down just a little bit, but they did see a same similar bounce from where they were at earlier in the morning.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: They're up 78 cents at 667.83.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Before I quote the grain markets here live, like to shout out our sponsor, plus 500.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: We use plus 500 trading software every single day to quote the markets live, as well as trade the markets.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And now so we look here.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: December corn is at 481 and a half.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: November beans made just a little bit of a rally this morning.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: That's cool to see.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: They're at 1287 and three-quarters.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And December Chicago wheat is at 671 and a half.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: The weather is going to get interesting, folks, as we see some of these storms start to develop.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Rain arrives Tuesday night through Thursday with more than an inch across South Central and Central, the South Central and Central Corn belts.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: A hard red wheat belt getting two plus inches in places, pausing harvest before a dry stretch before Friday through the rest of October.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: The record heat continues though, 15 to 20 plus degrees above normal through Thursday, followed by a much cooler weekend through most parts of the corn belt.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: We will see sub-freezing lows, hopefully, by the end of October here.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: The WASD Airport, the elephant in the room, as I call it called it.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Man, what a roller coaster to watch last Friday.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Corn hit their limit.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Beans went down with them and then skyrocketed back up afterwards.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Wheat felt the pressure and on the open the other night last night they came back down hard again.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: We're in interesting times right now.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Now some are calling, saying that this USDA report was inaccurate.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Some are saying it was the writing on the wall for a long time.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: I liked what Tommy had to say on Friday, and I encourage you to go back and watch Ag Squawk with Davis Michelson and Tommy.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: They talk about the USDA report and some positive things to look forward to in agriculture thing and the things in the grain markets that we have going for us right now.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: I encourage you to go watch that episode.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: There's several things that they talk about there that I think bring shines light on the subject that maybe wasn't talked about.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: The livestock markets have been really interesting here.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: As we look at pork exports, obviously imports and exports are something that we've discussed at length with Mr.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Mike Sands on the cattle side of things.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: But Japan bought 71.3 million pounds of US pork in August.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: That sounds like a lot.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: That's down 5.4% year over year, and it's the smallest August since 2004.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Ending its run of 2026 gains.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: The total exports fell four point four point nine percent to fifty five hundred and fifteen million pounds, the third straight lower for trading with Mexico.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Now we we've talked about that oftentimes we maybe don't give the hogs enough credit on this show.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: But they're facing the same things that the cattle market is facing, you know.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: They're being incredibly efficient with the sows and the pigs that we do have.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: But seeing a decrease in numbers domestically here, hopefully we can kind of build back those herds because build build back those uh sow numbers because we have a highly valuable product there that a lot of countries just flat don't have the infrastructure to have these vertically integrated hog systems that we have.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: This caught my eye this morning.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Brent tops 105 as doubts grow over supply boost from Trump's quote unquote energy ceasefire.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: President Donald Trump said that Russia and Ukraine will not be targeting each other.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Well, that's good news.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: They will not be targeting each other's energy facilities.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Al Jazeer reported that Iran was ready to proceed with a provide assistance to help the start of dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthis, which have been attacking all sorts of things over there.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: And because of this, energies are have just been pretty wild over the weekend.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: And we'll see how all this plays out.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Like we've been saying, you'd think they'd want to smooth things over before these midterms.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: It's maybe not looking like that's going to be the way that way at this point.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: As we traveled through Indiana this weekend, uh I headed over that way.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: We did see some, you know, more moderate fuel prices than what we saw here in Illinois.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, America runs on diesel, and that problem needs to be fixed.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you for watching and thank you for listening this morning.

- 6:12SPEAKER_00: $25 a month or$250 annually to know what's going on in the markets.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Tommy says sometimes that there's a lot of free things out there, but sometimes free is too cheap.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: That's a great way to stay connected for not much input and input cost at all.
