- 1:41Speaker 3: Coming up. It is a busy, busy weekend here in
- 1:43Speaker 3: the Canal Valley. Lots of activities going on. We got
- 1:46Speaker 3: boom days and Nitro, I mean, so many things going on,
- 1:49Speaker 3: big happenings in Clindennon Tomorrow. The Mayor of Clindennon, Case Summers,
- 1:53Speaker 3: is going to join me to talk about what they
- 1:54Speaker 3: guy going on tomorrow. Plus for've been nearing one hundred
- 1:58Speaker 3: years on this thing, the Putnam County home Coming we'll
- 2:01Speaker 3: be taking place in Winfield. I'm going to talk to
- 2:02Speaker 3: some folks from there, and also, did you happen to
- 2:07Speaker 3: see the video of what happened last night at Shepherd University?
- 2:11Speaker 3: What was supposed to be a civil conversation between Senators
- 2:14Speaker 3: Capito and Mansion narrated by or moderated I should save
- 2:18Speaker 3: our own hoppy KURCHI well got interrupted by some climate

- 2:25Speaker 3: on that coming up a little bit later on, plus
- 2:27Speaker 3: your calls and Texter, welcome to no hend of Gardner
- 2:30Speaker 3: this week from the Canal Charles Newmain Association. And I'll
- 2:33Speaker 3: tell you why a little bit later on, but we
- 2:35Speaker 3: do have our document please pet of the weekend. I
- 2:37Speaker 3: will talk about that coming up momentarily as well. So
- 2:40Speaker 3: as you can imagine, we had a lot to get to.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I want to start with high school football though tonight,
- 2:44Speaker 3: two games on two different stations. Chris Lawrence and Aaron
- 2:47Speaker 3: Parker will have coverage of the Hurricane game against Spring
- 2:51Speaker 3: Valley and Hurricane on WCCHS, while Tom Bragg will have
- 2:54Speaker 3: coverage of Hoover and Winfield from Hoover. Chris is with us. Chris,
- 2:58Speaker 3: good morning, Hey, what's up many you, buddy.
- 3:00Speaker 5: I'm doing well, looking forward to tonight. Did you know,
- 3:02Speaker 5: as you mentioned that one hundredth anniversary in Winfield, it's
- 3:05Speaker 5: this year is one hundred years of Hurricane football.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw that. Actually, I was looking at their
- 3:10Speaker 3: social media earlier. They're playing that up. That's pretty big.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Yeah, they are. They got a logo and everything, and
- 3:15Speaker 5: it's sort of the theme this year. One hundred years
- 3:17Speaker 5: of Redskins football. There, and they got Spring Valley coming
- 3:20Speaker 5: in tonight, which is not necessarily an age old rivalry
- 3:24Speaker 5: because Spring Valley has not been around all that long. However,
- 3:27Speaker 5: these two teams have definitely had some spirited contests through
- 3:32Speaker 5: the years, and it's two incredibly different styles of football.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Spring Valley always is known to have the big, beefy
- 3:39Speaker 5: guys up front and just will force their will on you,
- 3:42Speaker 5: trying to just use brute force and strength, where Hurricane
- 3:45Speaker 5: is more sleek and skilled. It's sort of like an
- 3:47Speaker 5: F one fifty versus a Ferrari's kind of how the
- 3:50Speaker 5: thing generally generally winds up. But this year Spring Valley
- 3:54Speaker 5: does not have as many big bruising backs as they
- 3:56Speaker 5: normally do. They've got some skill guys, so it'll be
- 3:59Speaker 5: interesting to see how that dynamic plays out. I think
- 4:02Speaker 5: they run out of the shotgun formation, although they still
- 4:04Speaker 5: run a lot of stuff. It's more like an old
- 4:06Speaker 5: school veer, Whereas Hurricane has a fantastic quarterback in Novella Tomby,
- 4:11Speaker 5: and he is a threat to either run it or
- 4:13Speaker 5: through it because they've got a catria of great receivers
- 4:15Speaker 5: and a couple of really good running backs. And the
- 4:17Speaker 5: fun thing about watching Hurricane football is it's tempo. Man,
- 4:20Speaker 5: it's tempo. I mean, once the play is over, sometimes
- 4:23Speaker 5: they're going faster than the referees can keep up. Donny
- 4:27Speaker 5: May says he needs to put the referees on a
- 4:29Speaker 5: conditioning program to do their games because it's just it's
- 4:33Speaker 5: moving so fast, and when they get that rhythm going,
- 4:35Speaker 5: they're really tough to deal with.
- 4:36Speaker 3: That game against Huntington last week, and you had to
- 4:38Speaker 3: call on that game. It was a shame that either
- 4:40Speaker 3: team had to lose that game.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yeah it was.
- 4:41Speaker 5: And you know, Hurricane really showed some guts there. They
- 4:45Speaker 5: got down by two touchdowns, came right back and it
- 4:48Speaker 5: came down to that one field goal at the end,
- 4:50Speaker 5: and they just had a you know, a breakdown on
- 4:53Speaker 5: protection and the kid from Huntington made a fantastic athletic
- 4:58Speaker 5: play blocked the CA with four seconds to go, and
- 5:01Speaker 5: that way Huntington prevails. But I think you come out
- 5:05Speaker 5: of that game, if you're a Hurricane fan, you look
- 5:06Speaker 5: at that and you know we're gonna be fine. That
- 5:08Speaker 5: that team is really good and they're gonna win a
- 5:10Speaker 5: lot of ball games this year, and I think down
- 5:12Speaker 5: the stretch in the playoffs, they're gonna be one of
- 5:14Speaker 5: those teams that is in contention to play for that
- 5:17Speaker 5: first quad.
- 5:17Speaker 3: A state title. Airtime tonight is what we on there.
- 5:20Speaker 5: At seven o'clock from Hurricane and the kickoff is at
- 5:23Speaker 5: seven thirty.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Give me a quick preview of Western and outdoors. What
- 5:26Speaker 3: do you got?
- 5:26Speaker 5: Oh what are we talking about tomorrow? You caught me
- 5:29Speaker 5: off guard, drawn a blank. Oh, we're gonna talk about
- 5:31Speaker 5: jin saying we'll be sanging signing tomorrow. Have a guy
- 5:36Speaker 5: on from the Divisional Forest. You're gonna help us talk
- 5:38Speaker 5: a little bit about that. Also, we're going to talk
- 5:41Speaker 5: about the Feds have handed out a lot of grants
- 5:46Speaker 5: to help restore waters of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, and
- 5:50Speaker 5: that includes a lot of projects in our West Virginia
- 5:52Speaker 5: Mountain trout streams. So some representatives of Trout Unlimited are
- 5:57Speaker 5: going to join me for that. Now, we got some
- 5:58Speaker 5: other stuff to talk about tomorrow as well. Be on
- 6:00Speaker 5: there at seven oh six in the morning.
- 6:01Speaker 3: With that, all right, Chris, have a good broadcast tonight,
- 6:03Speaker 3: you and Aaron Man. Thanks everybody, all right. Also that
- 6:06Speaker 3: that game is on the WCHS networking stations. Also we're
- 6:09Speaker 3: going to check in with Tom Bragg. Tom will have
- 6:11Speaker 3: coverage from the Land of the Husky tonight is Hoover
- 6:14Speaker 3: takes on the Generals of Winfield. Tom Good morning, Hi Dave,
- 6:17Speaker 3: good morning. Great game last week for Hoover. Just like
- 6:20Speaker 3: the Chris and I were just talking about the Huntington
- 6:22Speaker 3: and Hurricane game. It's a shame that either team had
- 6:24Speaker 3: to lose that game because you had a good one
- 6:26Speaker 3: last week.
- 6:27Speaker 6: Oh yeah, fantastic game to open the season last Thursday night.
- 6:30Speaker 6: And elk you Between Herbert Hoover and Visiting Independence a
- 6:33Speaker 6: rematch of the double A state title game from a
- 6:36Speaker 6: couple of years ago, the Patriots one up in Wheeling.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Hussy's got a little bit of revenge for that one.
- 6:41Speaker 6: This time around, and they didn't make it easy. They
- 6:43Speaker 6: were down sixteen points at halftime, had to stage a
- 6:46Speaker 6: big comeback in the second half, and a big part
- 6:48Speaker 6: of that was all that production they get out of
- 6:50Speaker 6: the backfield. If you follow high school football in West Virginia,
- 6:53Speaker 6: you've heard the name d Dane Hatfield. He's been one
- 6:55Speaker 6: of the best quarterbacks certainly in the Canal Valley, if
- 6:57Speaker 6: not the whole state, the last few years. He's back
- 7:00Speaker 6: for his senior year kind of leading things for the Huskies.
- 7:03Speaker 6: He had three total touchdowns, two of those coming in
- 7:05Speaker 6: that second half, and the third of those was the
- 7:07Speaker 6: one that capped it off and put him in the
- 7:09Speaker 6: lead for good. But they've also got a couple other
- 7:11Speaker 6: guys that can really play back there. Dave Blake Fisher,
- 7:14Speaker 6: a junior. Joey Fields likes to move him around. Speaking
- 7:17Speaker 6: with Joey this week, he'd really like to play him
- 7:19Speaker 6: more at receiver just because of how good he is
- 7:22Speaker 6: when he gets the ball in space. But he came
- 7:24Speaker 6: up with two big runs for touchdowns in the second
- 7:26Speaker 6: half against Independence last week. And don't sleep They've got
- 7:29Speaker 6: a new player to hoover this year. Devin Silvis he's
- 7:32Speaker 6: a transfer from Saint Albans. He came over after football
- 7:34Speaker 6: last year so that he could wrestle at Herbert Hoover
- 7:37Speaker 6: last school year. But Joey Fields really likes him. He
- 7:40Speaker 6: thinks he's one of the more complete backs that he's
- 7:42Speaker 6: had at Herbert Hoover the last few years, and that's
- 7:44Speaker 6: saying something. So they've had some pretty capable guys. The
- 7:47Speaker 6: other side of this game, Dave Winfield. You know Winfield
- 7:50Speaker 6: and Herbert Hoover, they've been a long time Cardinal Conference
- 7:53Speaker 6: rivals in the Double A classification. There are two of
- 7:55Speaker 6: the teams in this new look Triple A this year.
- 7:57Speaker 6: But you know, the goals are still the same. They
- 7:59Speaker 6: want to win comp titles, they want to go far
- 8:01Speaker 6: in the playoffs, and it seems like they've always got
- 8:03Speaker 6: to go through each other to do it. They've split
- 8:05Speaker 6: the last four. One of those was a playoff win
- 8:07Speaker 6: for Herbert Hoover on that run to the Double A
- 8:09Speaker 6: title game a couple of years ago. And the generals
- 8:12Speaker 6: come in, want to know after off a big win
- 8:14Speaker 6: at Lincoln County last week, forty eight to zero down
- 8:17Speaker 6: in Hamlin, Aidan Hernandez really the guy that made a
- 8:20Speaker 6: lot of that happen for him, one hundred and forty
- 8:22Speaker 6: yards on just four carries. I don't have the average
- 8:24Speaker 6: done out because I'm not a math major, Dave, but
- 8:25Speaker 6: that's pretty good.
- 8:27Speaker 3: He did well. That's all you need to know is
- 8:28Speaker 3: he did well. He did well. There seems to be
- 8:31Speaker 3: I mean, you know, the last couple of years, of course,
- 8:33Speaker 3: with the new school and everything with Herbert Hoover Tom,
- 8:35Speaker 3: there just seems to be like an air about Herbert
- 8:38Speaker 3: Hoover football and that Herbert Herbert Hoover in general right now.
- 8:43Speaker 6: Yeah, there's really in general, I think that's really fair
- 8:46Speaker 6: across the board, not just with the new building, but
- 8:49Speaker 6: you look at all of their sports. There's just there's
- 8:51Speaker 6: some juice down there in LF right now, and I
- 8:53Speaker 6: think the football team's kind of leading the way with that.
- 8:56Speaker 6: Joey Fields has been there. I believe this is the
- 8:57Speaker 6: fifth season with the Huskies now. And he wasn't just
- 9:01Speaker 6: some guy that came in, you know. He came up
- 9:03Speaker 6: down in the coalfield, studying under Yogi Kinder at Mingo
- 9:06Speaker 6: Central and at MAT One. He went off to the
- 9:08Speaker 6: Eastern Panhandle and was an assistant coach for Dave Walker
- 9:11Speaker 6: at Martinsburg, So he was around big time programs that
- 9:15Speaker 6: won a lot of games and produced a lot of
- 9:17Speaker 6: really good players. So I'm not too surprised to see
- 9:20Speaker 6: him kind of have that going in lfieve now that
- 9:22Speaker 6: he's been there a few years.
- 9:23Speaker 3: All right, what time's coverage start tonight, Tom.
- 9:25Speaker 6: So kick off at seven o'clock. We usually go about
- 9:27Speaker 6: five ten minutes before that to look first round six
- 9:29Speaker 6: fifty on ninety six to one KWS.
- 9:31Speaker 3: All right, Tom, I appreciate it, and this is going
- 9:32Speaker 3: to be a weekly gig for you, man, So we'll
- 9:34Speaker 3: talk to you again next week. Thanks a lot.
- 9:36Speaker 6: Absolutely, we'll talk to you then.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Dave tom Bragg again, he's got the call of Hoover tonight.
- 9:41Speaker 3: It's going to be a great game. And again the
- 9:42Speaker 3: Hoover games can be heard on ninety six to one KWS.
- 9:45Speaker 3: And then Chris has got the Hurricane Spring Valley game.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Chris and Aaron Parker will had that game, and we'll
- 9:50Speaker 3: have coverage on WCHS for those games. That's the way
- 9:53Speaker 3: we're doing it this year. We got Hurricane on WCCHS,
- 9:55Speaker 3: and we got Hoover's games on ninety six to one
- 9:57Speaker 3: kws SO Dave Allen Show in five Live Bright to
- 10:00Speaker 3: You part by Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
- 10:03Speaker 3: So apparently a funny thing happened with the staff of
- 10:07Speaker 3: the Canal Charlety Main Association. And I say that, you know,
- 10:11Speaker 3: not to be mean, but but they all got sick.
- 10:13Speaker 3: I mean like all of them, like I don't know Jeff,
- 10:15Speaker 3: like kennel cough or something. Anyway, we don't have Hannah
- 10:18Speaker 3: Gardener or Angie Gillenwater this morning, so you're stuck with
- 10:20Speaker 3: me telling you about our adopt me police pet of
- 10:23Speaker 3: the week. His name is Homer now as always our dog,
- 10:27Speaker 3: our cat whatever. We're featuring the pictures posted on Dave
- 10:29Speaker 3: Island Radio on Facebook. We're at Dave A seventy on
- 10:33Speaker 3: x Homer is our pet of the week. Interesting story.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Homer had a variety of families that have taken him
- 10:41Speaker 3: out for foster care and it all went well. But
- 10:43Speaker 3: foster care, you know, with animals, is just like a
- 10:46Speaker 3: short term thing until they bring him back. And apparently,
- 10:49Speaker 3: according and talking to Handle last night, apparently what happens
- 10:52Speaker 3: is is that he just suffers from a lot of anxiety.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Once they bring him back, and I mean, think about it,
- 11:00Speaker 3: who could blame him? I mean, you get busted out
- 11:04Speaker 3: of the joint, only to be brought back again. They
- 11:07Speaker 3: tell me, though, that this dog would make a perfect
- 11:09Speaker 3: pet for a family. He's super friendly, around ten months old,
- 11:12Speaker 3: not fixed yet but he will be. Loves kids, other
- 11:15Speaker 3: playful dogs, loves car rides, and loves to watch TV.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I thought I have a cat that loves to watch TV.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I thought I didn't think a lot of animals did that,
- 11:23Speaker 3: But apparently Homer enjoys it as well. He seems to
- 11:26Speaker 3: be okay with cats. He is microchipped and vaccinated. He
- 11:29Speaker 3: is around forty seven pounds, so he may get a
- 11:32Speaker 3: tad bigger. Does not do well with chicken or livestock.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I understand cats. Other dogs okay, no chickens, no livestock.
- 11:42Speaker 3: We've got a Homer's picture. Posted it to Dave Alan
- 11:44Speaker 3: Radio and Facebook and at Dave a seventy on x
- 11:46Speaker 3: the artist formally known as Twitter. A couple of other
- 11:50Speaker 3: notes from the Shelter One week and a day away
- 11:52Speaker 3: from their Kegs for Canines event. This is their annual
- 11:55Speaker 3: fundraiser that they do with the Red Carpet Lounge and
- 11:57Speaker 3: Elizabeth Street. Well, they actually have information a lot posted
- 12:00Speaker 3: on their social media pages, and yesterday apparently they just
- 12:04Speaker 3: received a lot of puppies that were draft dropped off
- 12:08Speaker 3: there yesterday. I mean a lot a lot of them.
- 12:11Speaker 3: So go check out the pictures and go adopt some
- 12:14Speaker 3: pets and hopefully we'll have had our Angie back on
- 12:17Speaker 3: with us next week. But again, Homer is our pet
- 12:20Speaker 3: of the week. I've got Homer's picture posted on Dave
- 12:23Speaker 3: Island Radio on Facebook again. He is around forty seven pounds,
- 12:26Speaker 3: about ten months old, not fixed yet but will be,
- 12:30Speaker 3: is already vaccinated, he is microchipped, does well with other dogs,
- 12:36Speaker 3: does well with kids, seems to do well with cats.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Just don't take him down on the farm because he
- 12:40Speaker 3: is not a farm dog. He likes cats, no chickens,
- 12:45Speaker 3: no chickens. So Homers are pet. Please go adopt and
- 12:48Speaker 3: let's get him home. Today Bigley Pigli Wiggly Hotline three

- 13:32Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago, check on her, and haven't
- 13:33Speaker 3: heard on it. I haven't didn't hear back from her,
- 13:35Speaker 3: So I hopefully we'll try to have Amanda back in
- 13:39Speaker 3: at some point. All Right, we're going to take a break,

- 13:46Speaker 3: event happening tomorrow actually all weekend in Winfield. It's a
- 13:50Speaker 3: Putnam County homecoming. We're going to get into that when

- 16:51Speaker 3: posted now wv Metronews dot com and I've got it
- 16:53Speaker 3: posted on Dave Allan Radio on Facebook. Last night there
- 16:57Speaker 3: was a what was supposedly a just a civil little
- 17:00Speaker 3: discussion that was supposed to happen on the campus of
- 17:03Speaker 3: Sheppard University, sponsored by the Stubblefield Institute. It featured Senator
- 17:07Speaker 3: Joe Manchin and Senator Shelley Moore Capito, moderated by Hobby
- 17:10Speaker 3: kerchival Well. Some climates folks decided to disrupt the entire thing,
- 17:16Speaker 3: and I'm going to talk about that little davittorial coming
- 17:19Speaker 3: up for you a little bit later on. So that's
- 17:22Speaker 3: coming up. It is an event that has been going
- 17:25Speaker 3: on since nineteen twenty nine and it's back this weekend
- 17:28Speaker 3: in Winfield, the annual Putnam County Homecoming. Charles Mays is
- 17:31Speaker 3: one of the organizers and he joins us now, good morning, sir,
- 17:34Speaker 3: welcome to the.
- 17:34Speaker 11: Show, Good morning day, Thank you for having me.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. Now, before we get to
- 17:40Speaker 3: the Homecoming. You've never been on the show. I've had
- 17:42Speaker 3: various people over the years to talk about the homecoming.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Tell us a little bit more about you, because you're
- 17:47Speaker 3: kind of a busy guy. Is that right. You're not
- 17:49Speaker 3: just organizing festivals, you're doing other stuff too, right.
- 17:52Speaker 11: Yes, I'm also the pastor at Winfield United Methodist Church.
- 17:56Speaker 11: I'm involved in a lot of other activities in the
- 18:00Speaker 11: People will.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Say, well, I wanted to give you an opportunity because
- 18:03Speaker 3: you and I talked in the phone the other day
- 18:05Speaker 3: and you told me you were a church pastor, so
- 18:06Speaker 3: I thought i'd give you And we're not going to
- 18:08Speaker 3: send you a bill or anything, Charles, I promise. I
- 18:10Speaker 3: thought I thought you might want to give a little
- 18:11Speaker 3: plug for your church. Go ahead.
- 18:14Speaker 11: Well, we are one of many churches in the Winfield area,
- 18:17Speaker 11: and we are happily joining with other churches for Sunday
- 18:22Speaker 11: morning community worship service. There'll be five churches in all.
- 18:26Speaker 11: We will have a guest speaker we're bringing in from
- 18:29Speaker 11: North Carolina, and it promises to be a wonderful morning
- 18:35Speaker 11: of worship and fellowship and we're looking forward to that.
- 18:39Speaker 11: It's just a great time to go out We're not
- 18:42Speaker 11: concerned with what name is over your church door or
- 18:45Speaker 11: on your sign it. It's just we all serve the
- 18:47Speaker 11: same Lord and we are going to get together and
- 18:51Speaker 11: rejoice in that.
- 18:52Speaker 3: And that's on Sunday. But take it from the top
- 18:55Speaker 3: about what goes on at the Putnam County home Coming.
- 18:58Speaker 3: I've lived there for ten years and I've been there
- 19:00Speaker 3: several times, and it will probably be there this weekend too,
- 19:03Speaker 3: So for people that don't know what all goes on
- 19:06Speaker 3: with this homecoming festival, just take it from the top.
- 19:08Speaker 11: We'll start on Saturday. We will have as we get
- 19:12Speaker 11: all the vendors in and have been set up, about
- 19:16Speaker 11: one o'clock, we will have a history presentation with Joyce
- 19:20Speaker 11: Hannah and that will be at the Cross Point Family
- 19:23Speaker 11: Church that will be adjacent to the main stage there
- 19:27Speaker 11: on Main Street. And then we have music and Magic
- 19:32Speaker 11: Town up all day long. About every hour on the hour,
- 19:34Speaker 11: we will have something new. We will close out with
- 19:37Speaker 11: Appalachian Rain. There will be a car show going on
- 19:41Speaker 11: as well at the courthouse. So there's a lot of
- 19:44Speaker 11: things going on on Saturday. There's plenty of activities. There's
- 19:47Speaker 11: petting zoo, there are inflatables, c AMC will have a
- 19:51Speaker 11: health fare. I'll probably go early before I stop at
- 19:54Speaker 11: all the food vendors we'll have, well, I'm going to
- 19:58Speaker 11: just confess early.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead.
- 20:00Speaker 11: Well, we will have putt putt and a lot of
- 20:03Speaker 11: things there. The main thing too, it's just a come early,
- 20:06Speaker 11: stay late. It's a great time for your family to
- 20:09Speaker 11: catch up with friends you haven't seen for a while.
- 20:13Speaker 11: It's just there will be food venders, but if you
- 20:17Speaker 11: want to come and bring your own meal, if you
- 20:20Speaker 11: want to bring a picnic lunch, there are tables and
- 20:22Speaker 11: chairs available to just set and again catch up and
- 20:26Speaker 11: have a good time with your friends. And Sunday, like
- 20:29Speaker 11: you mentioned, it will start at ten o'clock with the
- 20:31Speaker 11: Winfield High School Band playing our national anthem there at
- 20:35Speaker 11: the courthouse, and then at ten forty five our community
- 20:38Speaker 11: worship service will start. We will have a gospel group
- 20:41Speaker 11: and then the moment we've been waiting for, we will
- 20:44Speaker 11: have our intros and then we will have one point
- 20:46Speaker 11: thirty have a parade. It is promising to be a
- 20:51Speaker 11: very good parade as it was last year. Two thirty.
- 20:54Speaker 11: The Appalachian Lassies, the dance team will be there. They're
- 20:57Speaker 11: very cute. They'll be right there on the street and
- 21:01Speaker 11: at four o'clock we will have the crowning of miss
- 21:04Speaker 11: Putnam County. So there's something going on all day long
- 21:08Speaker 11: and something.
- 21:09Speaker 3: For everyone, and a lot of great music is always
- 21:11Speaker 3: and you kind of touched on. This is one of
- 21:13Speaker 3: the things I've learned in attending this thing over the year, Charles,
- 21:16Speaker 3: is the music. There's a little bit of something for
- 21:18Speaker 3: everybody as far as the music goes.
- 21:20Speaker 11: Oh, most definitely we have Joonah Cloude, Joey's staff, Lost Calls.
- 21:24Speaker 11: We had some great bands lined up and I'm looking
- 21:28Speaker 11: forward to hearing of hearing them all. Like we talked about,
- 21:32Speaker 11: it's something for everyone, every listener, and give yourself a
- 21:36Speaker 11: chance and said, and listen, you might find a style
- 21:40Speaker 11: of music you that not listened to before and find
- 21:42Speaker 11: yourself like it. But we're supporting local groups and local bands,
- 21:47Speaker 11: local vendors and artisans and that's what makes it special
- 21:51Speaker 11: as well.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Now this has been going on, I said this in
- 21:53Speaker 3: the intro, Charles, this has been going on for since
- 21:56Speaker 3: nineteen twenty nine. Is there any truth to the rumor
- 21:58Speaker 3: that Winfield Mayor Randy Barrett has been at all of them.
- 22:03Speaker 11: Okay, I can neither confirm nor than not. I just
- 22:09Speaker 11: I have to drive through Windfield, so I'm gonna be
- 22:11Speaker 11: I'm gonna play at.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Safe Okay, Well he's wanted to actually, you know, I
- 22:15Speaker 3: kind of liak to you an eye up. So Randy
- 22:17Speaker 3: is a good dude. I love I love having him
- 22:18Speaker 3: on the show and this thing. Like I said, you know,
- 22:20Speaker 3: festivals come and go in different events, and so there's
- 22:23Speaker 3: so many to go on that I can't cover them all.
- 22:24Speaker 3: But when you've been doing something as this Winfield community
- 22:28Speaker 3: and all I mean really all of Putnham County and
- 22:30Speaker 3: the surrounding areas come out for this thing. You've been
- 22:32Speaker 3: doing it since nineteen twenty nine, you got a legacy, man,
- 22:35Speaker 3: and there's and there's obviously you must be doing something right.
- 22:39Speaker 11: Isn't that incredible? Ninety five years of doing this. It's
- 22:42Speaker 11: just absolutely incredible, and it's for me, it's an honor
- 22:46Speaker 11: to be a part of this this past year and
- 22:49Speaker 11: in the years to come. I'm looking forward to this,
- 22:51Speaker 11: but it grows each year. They still want to stay
- 22:55Speaker 11: family focused and focused upon the area, the Puttnam County area,
- 23:00Speaker 11: but it is incredible and I hope to see this
- 23:03Speaker 11: going on ninety five more years and Randy can again
- 23:06Speaker 11: be leading the terrade.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I'm sure he will be. Just don't go, you know,
- 23:11Speaker 3: thirty six in the town, right, you know, if it's
- 23:13Speaker 3: thirty five, he can just don't do thirty six, all right.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I know that the City of Winfield's Facebook page has
- 23:18Speaker 3: a lot of information. Out of Charles is that is
- 23:20Speaker 3: that really the best place to get the information right now?
- 23:23Speaker 11: That is the best place to get your information. We
- 23:25Speaker 11: also have the Putnam County Homecoming Festival Facebook page where
- 23:29Speaker 11: you can go out and find a lot of information.
- 23:31Speaker 11: There's also our website where you could go out and
- 23:35Speaker 11: see all the updated information. Hopefully we will be able
- 23:38Speaker 11: to live stream some of this. I don't know yet.
- 23:40Speaker 11: It's dependent upon technology.
- 23:44Speaker 3: I got you, I got you, all right, So things
- 23:46Speaker 3: get underway tomorrow morning. What's the what's the start time? Tomorrow?
- 23:50Speaker 11: One o'clock. I would just I can't come early. Don't
- 23:54Speaker 11: wait till starting time. Come early, get a good parking spot.
- 23:56Speaker 11: There's parking all over the place. But around noon will
- 24:00Speaker 11: be setting up and then again at one o'clock there
- 24:02Speaker 11: will be a history presentation of the Pundam County and
- 24:07Speaker 11: all of the areas. The more I drive around, the
- 24:10Speaker 11: more I have learned. And I was not a good
- 24:12Speaker 11: history student in school, but I have found it to
- 24:15Speaker 11: be so fascinating and I'm just taking advantage of eating
- 24:19Speaker 11: this up now. All right, I'm looking forward to Joyce's presentation.
- 24:24Speaker 3: It's going to be a great, great weekend. Hopefully the
- 24:27Speaker 3: weather will cooperate. Looks like it's going to do so
- 24:30Speaker 3: of the weather folks are saying we're going to have
- 24:32Speaker 3: rain like late to night and overnight, but should clear
- 24:34Speaker 3: out for the weekend and be real nice, especially on Sunday.
- 24:36Speaker 3: So Charles, I appreciate you joining us on the show.
- 24:39Speaker 3: We'll see you this weekend. Man, thanks a lot.
- 24:41Speaker 11: All right, Jay, thank you very much.

- 31:01Speaker 14: How are you doing man, I'm doing well. Thank you,
- 31:03Speaker 14: Thank you for having us day.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. And also we're here to
- 31:08Speaker 3: talk about several things with Clint Dennon, but primarily the
- 31:11Speaker 3: big event to mar it's called Chilling on the Elk
- 31:14Speaker 3: Chili cook off with craft beer, music, arts, crafts, kid Zone.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Mayor Summers here to talk about. Also, Kerrie Meyer is here. Carrie,
- 31:20Speaker 3: good morning, Good morning, welcome to the show.
- 31:22Speaker 4: Thank you for having me.
- 31:23Speaker 3: And you want to give a shout out to your husband. Yeah,
- 31:25Speaker 3: because there's the reason I say this is because we
- 31:27Speaker 3: were walking in he said, my husband is a big
- 31:29Speaker 3: is a big fan of yours.
- 31:30Speaker 4: I did and he actually just text and told me
- 31:33Speaker 4: he's listening.
- 31:34Speaker 14: Okay, I need to say hi to him too because
- 31:37Speaker 14: he's my friend. Okay, by coach, my.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Coach, Myers.
- 31:41Speaker 4: He's more popular for his shop program at Hoover. The
- 31:46Speaker 4: teacher of this shop program. They just finished a huge
- 31:50Speaker 4: project at the Canalla County Board of Education.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Now what is your Are you the director of this
- 31:54Speaker 3: big event that's going on tomorrow? You a person comity chair?
- 31:58Speaker 4: It's my baby. It's a great event. We have a
- 32:03Speaker 4: variety of things to offer for everyone. General admissions free.
- 32:08Speaker 4: You only have to pay if you want a sample beer,
- 32:11Speaker 4: wine or chili.
- 32:12Speaker 3: What time did everything get underway?
- 32:13Speaker 4: Eleven o'clock in the morning.
- 32:15Speaker 3: And everything just primarily right there in the heartown.
- 32:17Speaker 4: On Main Street and Elk Avenue, right in front of
- 32:20Speaker 4: the dock Harper Stage.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Now where did the whole idea for this thing come from?
- 32:25Speaker 4: Well, I was floating down the river one day with
- 32:28Speaker 4: a group of people had never been on the Elk River,
- 32:31Speaker 4: and I said, you know, I'd like to do something
- 32:32Speaker 4: from my hometown. I'd like to do something to bring
- 32:35Speaker 4: people in and see what I experienced as a child
- 32:39Speaker 4: growing up in Clinton, and and that was we had
- 32:43Speaker 4: wonderful festivals and fairs, and people got together on the
- 32:46Speaker 4: streets and kids rammed around parents. I mean you just
- 32:51Speaker 4: everybody knew everyone and it was a comfortable environment, and
- 32:54Speaker 4: it was fun. It was very enjoyable as a child
- 32:59Speaker 4: to that, and I thought, I want to do something
- 33:04Speaker 4: for my hometown. And Mayor Summers has done so much
- 33:07Speaker 4: for the town of Clintennon to bring back that that experience,
- 33:13Speaker 4: and I just wanted to help.
- 33:16Speaker 14: I guess she has. She's done a fantastic job. And
- 33:19Speaker 14: it's a lot of hard work. Today this is over,
- 33:21Speaker 14: She'll start planning for next year.
- 33:23Speaker 3: That's the way you have to do it. Yes, And
- 33:27Speaker 3: there's nothing. And I come from a small town. I
- 33:29Speaker 3: talked about on the show before. There's nothing like a
- 33:31Speaker 3: small town gathering, like a festival. And I just had
- 33:34Speaker 3: on the folks from Putnam County. They have their Putnam
- 33:36Speaker 3: County homecoming this week. And you get these I mean,
- 33:38Speaker 3: with all due respect to their God, and which are
- 33:40Speaker 3: wonderful events. Ribfest is happening here in Charleston next week.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I'm gonna be a big part of that. But there's
- 33:44Speaker 3: something about these small towns, the Clintdennons, the Winfields or whatever,
- 33:49Speaker 3: when everybody just kind of comes, it's like a basic
- 33:51Speaker 3: family reunion. People that have moved out of state, many
- 33:53Speaker 3: of them come back for these reunions. There's nothing like it, Carrie, No,
- 33:57Speaker 3: there's not.
- 33:57Speaker 4: And it's it's a high school reunion, and it's a
- 34:01Speaker 4: reunion for many classes of those that graduated from our schools.
- 34:07Speaker 4: And we see people from infants to seventy eighty years old,
- 34:14Speaker 4: and there's something for everyone. And that's what I wanted
- 34:17Speaker 4: to do. You know, you don't want to have beer
- 34:19Speaker 4: and wine, don't have some chili, or visit the craft vendors,
- 34:24Speaker 4: or listen to the free music or play in the
- 34:26Speaker 4: free kids area.
- 34:28Speaker 3: I mean you could the fat family could come out
- 34:30Speaker 3: and ideally we'd like them to spend a little money,
- 34:32Speaker 3: but if they don't, they could ideally have a great
- 34:34Speaker 3: day at zero cost if they wanted to do that.
- 34:36Speaker 4: And they can go into the local restaurants and have lunch,
- 34:39Speaker 4: you know, grab a coffee at Fox Coffee, ice cream
- 34:43Speaker 4: at the bakery, or a pizza, or you can go
- 34:46Speaker 4: into the brewery or paddlers. There's just a lot to
- 34:49Speaker 4: offer now and it's so nice to see that. Coming
- 34:53Speaker 4: back to Clinton.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Mayor, I want to talk about the resurgence of the town.
- 34:58Speaker 3: We'll turn back the clock to this time in September
- 35:00Speaker 3: twenty sixteen. The devastating floods that happened a couple months
- 35:04Speaker 3: before that. And I know you're a fighter, as are
- 35:06Speaker 3: the people mayor of Clinton, but back then, I mean
- 35:10Speaker 3: an event like this, you know, you always knew Clinton
- 35:13Speaker 3: would would bounce back and be bigger, better than ever.
- 35:15Speaker 3: But it's probably hard in your mind at that time
- 35:17Speaker 3: to think are we ever going to recover from this?
- 35:18Speaker 14: By God, you did, You're right, because we didn't think
- 35:21Speaker 14: we could. I mean, it was so far, to be truthful,
- 35:24Speaker 14: even a couple of years before the flood things that
- 35:26Speaker 14: started going down, and so it was really tough. And
- 35:29Speaker 14: when Carrie came and approached me with the idea, I said, oh, Kerrie,
- 35:33Speaker 14: I love it. Let's do it. Go ahead, And man,
- 35:35Speaker 14: she took the bull by the horns. And we're trying
- 35:38Speaker 14: to have more things on the street and more festivals,
- 35:41Speaker 14: more gatherings, kids night, we have a movie night or
- 35:45Speaker 14: game nights, and so we're doing different things, like a
- 35:48Speaker 14: local bakery is going to do a karaoke Disney karaoke
- 35:51Speaker 14: for the kids, and just so everybody's with Carrie doing this.
- 35:56Speaker 14: It was sort of like a start for us. It
- 35:58Speaker 14: was sort of like a booze and all the businesses
- 36:01Speaker 14: are trying to do things to bring people in town.
- 36:03Speaker 3: I want to talk about the businesses. Carrie mentioned the restaurants.
- 36:06Speaker 3: I know there have been a few that have popped up.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Talk about the business climate right now on Clintall, I
- 36:10Speaker 3: wanted to talk about that.
- 36:11Speaker 14: I'm very proud of it. We're doing well. We have,
- 36:14Speaker 14: like she said, we have a it's called Lisa's Boutique,
- 36:19Speaker 14: but it has a coffee bar and drinks and all that,
- 36:22Speaker 14: and it's really doing well. People are coming all the
- 36:25Speaker 14: way up from Elfew Charleston to have the different coffees
- 36:28Speaker 14: and so it's been a real success. That's something I
- 36:31Speaker 14: wanted to do a long time ago, and I said, hey,
- 36:33Speaker 14: it's working. So Lisa has a boutique in the coffee
- 36:36Speaker 14: shop and the same thing. Then we have the bakery
- 36:39Speaker 14: and now she's opened up. She serves food to us well.
- 36:42Speaker 14: And now we have an ice cream shop so people
- 36:45Speaker 14: come and get ice cream, cones, floats and all that
- 36:48Speaker 14: with that, and then we have it's called Pizza on
- 36:52Speaker 14: Maine because it's on Main Street and it's like the
- 36:54Speaker 14: New York style pizza. But we also have Giovanni still
- 36:57Speaker 14: and they've been very loyal to us before. And then
- 37:01Speaker 14: the brewery has food as well. And then we have
- 37:06Speaker 14: a frost Bite, so we have food. Anybody wants food,
- 37:09Speaker 14: we have it. And that's one of the things Carrie
- 37:11Speaker 14: is included in her advertisement that the people are will
- 37:14Speaker 14: be open to have all the foods available to I.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Will I will say this, and I've heard it, and
- 37:21Speaker 4: it's just because my husband loves that. The brewery is
- 37:24Speaker 4: now making a Cubana and it's supposed to be very very.
- 37:30Speaker 14: I've had everyone of them Cubans hard to find.
- 37:33Speaker 3: The Cuban sandwich, yes, much of that's my wife's favorite sandwich.
- 37:36Speaker 3: We may be we may be going to you need
- 37:39Speaker 3: to see.
- 37:39Speaker 14: We love to have and they remodeled. It's just nice.
- 37:43Speaker 14: The brewery. The Bruits is like Cheers. Everybody knows everybody,
- 37:48Speaker 14: and you don't have to drink alcoholic beverages. They have
- 37:51Speaker 14: other beverages with food and they want the other restaurants
- 37:55Speaker 14: to bring If you want to go someplace else and
- 37:57Speaker 14: bring in a pizza and bring it in and eat it,
- 37:59Speaker 14: that's fine.
- 38:00Speaker 3: That's a novel con yes, and they're all doing that.
- 38:03Speaker 14: And you can take your what your sandwich into someplace
- 38:06Speaker 14: else and eat there. So they're all working together. It's
- 38:10Speaker 14: just it's a great atmosphere and we're just so proud
- 38:12Speaker 14: of what everybody's doing together.
- 38:14Speaker 3: So but a violand showing five any line bright to

- 38:33Speaker 3: I know that, you know. I have mayors on the
- 38:35Speaker 3: on the show all the time, from everywhere from Saint
- 38:37Speaker 3: Albans to Winfield to Hurricane to Charleston, you know, and
- 38:40Speaker 3: all points in between. Every everybody.
- 38:44Speaker 10: You know.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Obviously, if you unless you had a deep love for
- 38:46Speaker 3: your town, you wouldn't run for mayor or city council
- 38:49Speaker 3: or serve liking committees like carry does or whatever. But
- 38:52Speaker 3: you're you're You're a special kind of cheerleader Clint for Clinton.
- 38:56Speaker 3: You you you walk the walk and talk to talk Honey,
- 38:59Speaker 3: you really love this town.
- 39:00Speaker 2: I do.
- 39:01Speaker 14: I love it and I really I don't like hearing no.
- 39:04Speaker 14: If the word is no, I try to work around that.
- 39:07Speaker 14: Carries a lot like me in that, but you know,
- 39:10Speaker 14: you do have to love your town and you have
- 39:12Speaker 14: to be able to take calls at three o'clock in
- 39:15Speaker 14: the morning or at three o'clock in the afternoon. And
- 39:17Speaker 14: it's more than an eight hour job for me. I mean,
- 39:20Speaker 14: it's like a twenty four to seven.
- 39:21Speaker 4: And it's a nice it is.
- 39:24Speaker 14: It is what we do. But we have I've seen
- 39:27Speaker 14: so much improvement is coming back, and I'm just very
- 39:30Speaker 14: very proud. We're getting a new boat ramp. So I
- 39:34Speaker 14: just want you to come up and bring your wife
- 39:36Speaker 14: and see all the things we've done in the trail.
- 39:37Speaker 14: We're paving more of the trail and so that's another
- 39:41Speaker 14: thing too, And everybody's bringing their bikes and strollers and
- 39:44Speaker 14: horses and it's just a great opportunity. You talk about
- 39:48Speaker 14: healthy health right there. You get out and you walk it,
- 39:51Speaker 14: and then we're getting a bike bike park is going
- 39:54Speaker 14: to start. We've been approved for all that. So it's
- 39:57Speaker 14: all happening.
- 39:58Speaker 3: A lot of good stuff going on, I'll tell you,
- 40:01Speaker 3: there seems to be. And I talked about this with
- 40:03Speaker 3: Tom Bragg, who's doing our play by play for Herbert Hoover. Yes, Love,
- 40:06Speaker 3: we're doing this year. Uh, there just seems to be
- 40:08Speaker 3: a little bit of swagger coming out of that area
- 40:11Speaker 3: with you know. Uh, and there always has been been
- 40:14Speaker 3: the Elk River area, but especially with Hoover and the
- 40:16Speaker 3: school and everything there. So there's a lot of good
- 40:19Speaker 3: things going on up there, not just athletically, that's right
- 40:22Speaker 3: in all in all.
- 40:23Speaker 14: Sport in all. But you know, we had the we
- 40:27Speaker 14: opened the elementary school after eighty years this year for
- 40:31Speaker 14: the first day of school. And uh, we're so proud
- 40:34Speaker 14: that I'm proud to had a school bike in the
- 40:36Speaker 14: town of Clinton. And then Hoover is fantastic And like
- 40:39Speaker 14: you say, you're doing all the games, the crowds come
- 40:41Speaker 14: out Elk River community. Uh supports their community. So when
- 40:46Speaker 14: I say Clinton and I say Elkriver and love of
- 40:48Speaker 14: Elk River, people will come up for this. But we're
- 40:50Speaker 14: very for We're just a different breed of people.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Nothing wrong with that. Well, let's let's go back to
- 40:56Speaker 3: the events that are going on to mar Caerry. I'll
- 40:58Speaker 3: let you wrap us up by by taking it the top.

- 41:24Speaker 4: Chili sampling wristbands are for beer in mine, I'm sorry three.
- 41:28Speaker 14: Other words like you said, everything else is frue.

- 42:17Speaker 4: if you have to park across through it whatever, just
- 42:20Speaker 4: get there.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Well, as I mentioned earlier about the other but some
- 42:23Speaker 3: of the other events, the weather folks say that there's
- 42:25Speaker 3: gonna be like some rain like late tonight, but should
- 42:27Speaker 3: be cleared out by tomorrow.
- 42:28Speaker 4: Yes, it's supposed to be moved out by nine am.
- 42:31Speaker 4: We also one thing I forgot to tell you. We
- 42:33Speaker 4: have a five k walk run at nine am in
- 42:35Speaker 4: the morning and that benefits the Hoover boosters.

- 46:31Speaker 3: think if I'm correct, I think they're playing Alma Monitor.
- 46:34Speaker 3: It's night but Logan Wilkins and this what the texture
- 46:37Speaker 3: is referring to is the Fired Up Friday. That's a
- 46:38Speaker 3: segment that Joseph Payton does on WSAZ television each Friday
- 46:43Speaker 3: morning when he goes into schools and gets him up
- 46:46Speaker 3: early about six am, you know, tries to get them
- 46:48Speaker 3: all fired up and everything. I didn't see the segment
- 46:50Speaker 3: this morning, but the texture apparently taking issue with the
- 46:53Speaker 3: fact that Systonville High School has the head of a
- 46:55Speaker 3: Native American wanting to know if it's just willful ignorance. Well,
- 46:58Speaker 3: this is a this is a battle, but it's been
- 47:00Speaker 3: going on for some time over the usage of Native
- 47:04Speaker 3: American names. You know, the Washington Redskins, the nemesis of
- 47:08Speaker 3: my Dallas Cowboys. They're no longer that, you know. The
- 47:10Speaker 3: Cleveland Indians are no longer the Indians that are now
- 47:13Speaker 3: the Guardians. Hurricane High School is maintaining the Redskin thing,
- 47:18Speaker 3: and as are other teams like Florida State Seminoles and
- 47:22Speaker 3: Atlanta Braves and so on, so and just so many
- 47:24Speaker 3: different nuances. I'll leave that up to the sports guys.
- 47:27Speaker 3: How's that the Dave Island showing five any Live is
- 47:29Speaker 3: brought to you part about Brightway Insurance and Aze Agency.
- 47:31Speaker 3: They now offer small business insurance through the four major carriers,
- 47:35Speaker 3: the Hartford Travelers, Progressive at Next Callers, Stop buy and
- 47:37Speaker 3: see John and Sherry Mays Today thirty eight sixty Tays

- 47:46Speaker 3: All right, so I kind of touched on this a
- 47:48Speaker 3: little bit throughout the show. Last night on the campus
- 47:53Speaker 3: of Shepherd University, there was a forum held. It was
- 47:56Speaker 3: designed to be a civil discussion between Senators Joe Manchin,
- 48:02Speaker 3: Independent West Virginia and Cheldymore Capitol, Republican West Virginia, moderated
- 48:06Speaker 3: by our own Hoppy Kerchival and put on by the
- 48:09Speaker 3: Stubblefield Institute. A nice civil discussion between the three of them.
- 48:14Speaker 3: We actually aired it live I think on Metro News Television.
- 48:18Speaker 3: I know we also aired it on this station. And
- 48:21Speaker 3: you know, Mansion and Capitol are good friends. They're at
- 48:24Speaker 3: events together. They issued joint press releases, you well, Independent
- 48:29Speaker 3: Now and Republican. But the discussions were interrupted and I
- 48:36Speaker 3: and look the opinions, like we said top of the show,
- 48:38Speaker 3: the opinions given here are the opinions of me, not
- 48:40Speaker 3: the company, anybody else, just just me, just Dave. These
- 48:44Speaker 3: morons with the group Climate Defense, the client Climate Defense
- 48:49Speaker 3: Defiance Group, I think is what they're called, just rush
- 48:52Speaker 3: the stage. And you may remember then this is the
- 48:56Speaker 3: same group that crashed a meeting that Senator Manchon was
- 48:59Speaker 3: having a few months ago and quickly got tossed out
- 49:02Speaker 3: on their collective butts by a mansion staffer. And I'm
- 49:07Speaker 3: just wondering where that guy was last night, because they
- 49:11Speaker 3: definitely could have used him. And make no mistake about it,
- 49:16Speaker 3: these are environmental whack jobs. As Manchin has said, he
- 49:21Speaker 3: said on this very show when I had him on
- 49:23Speaker 3: to talk about a couple of months ago, these people
- 49:26Speaker 3: are not interested in discussion. They only want to disrupt
- 49:32Speaker 3: and to be seen. And as Senator Manchin said, he
- 49:37Speaker 3: is offered to sit down at the table with them,
- 49:39Speaker 3: but they seemingly have no interest in that. And look,
- 49:44Speaker 3: I am the ultimate free speech guy. You guys know
- 49:47Speaker 3: that you've listened to me on the show. I am.
- 49:49Speaker 3: I am the most free speech guy you can ever believe.
- 49:52Speaker 3: You can protest to your little pink o heart's desire outside.
- 49:59Speaker 3: But if the very people that you are protesting against
- 50:06Speaker 3: offered to sit down with you in a room to
- 50:09Speaker 3: discuss it like civil adults, and you turned them down,
- 50:13Speaker 3: then what the hell is the point? It is worth noting,
- 50:20Speaker 3: as we pointed out in our news stories, these protesters
- 50:22Speaker 3: were not Shepherd University students, more more than likely paid agitators,
- 50:31Speaker 3: and we've seen them all over the state and all
- 50:35Speaker 3: over the nation. We dealt with similar type people in
- 50:39Speaker 3: the nineteen nineties protesting surface mining in southern West Virginia.
- 50:46Speaker 3: Senator Capitot talked about she had seen them when it
- 50:50Speaker 3: comes to the Mountain Valley Pipeline. The difference though, when
- 50:54Speaker 3: they came to Logan and Boone and Mingo Counties twenty
- 50:57Speaker 3: years ago. Them are similar groups. They didn't get up
- 51:01Speaker 3: in the faces of the people because if they were
- 51:03Speaker 3: to do that, some good old boy coal miners would
- 51:06Speaker 3: have probably pushed back a little bit more and they
- 51:09Speaker 3: would have had a bad, bad day. People like this,
- 51:12Speaker 3: Davidtorial just me. People like this are the result of
- 51:16Speaker 3: what happens when everyone gets a participation trophy. You will
- 51:20Speaker 3: listen to me, we will be heard. What they want
- 51:24Speaker 3: is an end to all fossil fuels, And I would
- 51:27Speaker 3: ask them, hey, folks, how did you get to this
- 51:30Speaker 3: event tonight? Unless you walked? I really don't want to
- 51:34Speaker 3: hear your crap. And anyway, as he has done in
- 51:37Speaker 3: the past, I thought Senator Manson handled it well, as
- 51:41Speaker 3: did Senator Capito. These people have nothing better to do
- 51:44Speaker 3: than to harass people who are just trying to make
- 51:46Speaker 3: a living. They obviously don't spend a lot of time
- 51:48Speaker 3: on hygiene hobby will talk about it coming up in
- 51:53Speaker 3: his show because it was kind of his thing. He
- 51:55Speaker 3: was moderating, so he's probably not as upset about a design.
- 51:58Speaker 3: But Dave Island showing five any live persent by General

- 52:17Speaker 3: the not even meet with his own constituents or answer
