- 0:00Speaker 1: So yesterday Sunday, Sunday, I was up in up where
- 0:04Speaker 1: your farm is.
- 0:05Speaker 2: You know, And why didn't you come see me?
- 0:07Speaker 3: Because I was busy.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I was doing something fun instead of seeing, instead of
- 0:12Speaker 1: looking at It would have.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Been work if you came to see my trees.
- 0:17Speaker 1: So so I'm up there and I haven't been up
- 0:19Speaker 1: in that area for a long time, and I met
- 0:24Speaker 1: I met a city councilman from the newly incorporated city there,
- 0:29Speaker 1: Don Hickman is his name, Very nice guy, and he
- 0:32Speaker 1: listens to the program. And we had we had a lot.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Of but there's this. So now they're just trying to
- 0:38Speaker 3: decide what.
- 0:38Speaker 2: To name Ogden Valley City.
- 0:41Speaker 1: First of all, it's you know, it's always been confusing
- 0:43Speaker 1: that they call that area above Ogden. You know, you
- 0:46Speaker 1: go up the canyon to this valley up there where
- 0:49Speaker 1: Huntsville is, but it's called the Ogden.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Valley, Like this is the Salt Lake Valley, and Salt
- 0:54Speaker 2: Lake City is in Salt Lake Valley.
- 0:56Speaker 1: But Ogden is not in the valley. So that's always
- 0:59Speaker 1: been minded confusing. And so right now they're calling it
- 1:02Speaker 1: Ogden Valley City, which is not a very good name.
- 1:05Speaker 1: But they're they're they're going to change it, and they're
- 1:08Speaker 1: getting input and I think there'll be a vote on it.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And so here's some of the suggestions that he that
- 1:16Speaker 1: I had heard. He said, some people want to call
- 1:19Speaker 1: it Eden because now there's a little town up there
- 1:23Speaker 1: called Eden, but that has now been incorporated by this
- 1:27Speaker 1: new city. So if so, that's kind of confusing too.
- 1:30Speaker 2: You know, you know, business, if you had come to
- 1:33Speaker 2: my tree farm, you would have you would have known
- 1:37Speaker 2: that my farm is in the middle of where this
- 1:40Speaker 2: new change, my address will change.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Will That's that's fascinating, Gina. But once again, I was
- 1:46Speaker 1: having fun. I didn't want to go see you. So
- 1:49Speaker 1: so he said, so maybe people said Eden. And then
- 1:53Speaker 1: the other suggestion, and I think maybe this is the
- 1:55Speaker 1: what what it'll end up being is Pineview because the
- 1:59Speaker 1: reservoir is there. Pineview City.
- 2:02Speaker 2: You know, that's a great name for a tree farm
- 2:04Speaker 2: residents address.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it is, although that although now some no, I
- 2:10Speaker 1: don't know this. I don't know the taxonomy like you
- 2:12Speaker 1: I should. But I think Dawn or somebody else there said,
- 2:16Speaker 1: but you know, there there aren't these aren't really pines
- 2:19Speaker 1: that we have here there. I don't know they're they're
- 2:23Speaker 1: they're not technically pine trees, they're I don't know what
- 2:27Speaker 1: they are, but so but but everybody calls them pine trees.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So anyway, so those are the two possibilities, and I
- 2:35Speaker 1: think it'll probably be that. But I was so so
- 2:37Speaker 1: we so we left, and I thought, I thought, for
- 2:40Speaker 1: just a second, I thought I'd ask the the host
- 2:43Speaker 1: of the party I was at. I said, you know
- 2:45Speaker 1: where Gina lives? Could you just recoon? Then I thought, no,
- 2:47Speaker 1: I don't want to go see Gina there. I've been
- 2:50Speaker 1: having a I've been I've been having a good time.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I don't want to just I just want to. I
- 2:56Speaker 1: just want to. I just want to leave with the
- 2:57Speaker 1: glow of having a good time.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Were literally down the street. It would have taken you
- 3:02Speaker 2: two minutes.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's I know, he said, I could I know,
- 3:05Speaker 1: He said, I know right where she lives. I could
- 3:07Speaker 1: tell you. And I said, well, no, I don't want to.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I just I just don't want to stop in. Besides,
- 3:12Speaker 1: they you know, I don't know how Gina and her
- 3:15Speaker 1: husband are at the farm. For all I know, they
- 3:17Speaker 1: sit around naked all the time, and if I knock
- 3:19Speaker 1: on the door, you know.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Are you no, you would have seen Joe in his
- 3:25Speaker 2: overalls well, which is what he wears at the farm.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I think I've seen a picture of him in his
- 3:30Speaker 1: overalls and he's quite fetching. So maybe you know the
- 3:33Speaker 1: answer to this question.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:36Speaker 1: As we were driving back, it was the sun was
- 3:40Speaker 1: beginning to set, although it was a while before sundown.
- 3:43Speaker 1: And we start up Trapper's Loop and there are people
- 3:47Speaker 1: parked in cars all along the side and and what now,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I was, Were they just there to watch the.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Sun having photo shoots. People go up there for family photos,
- 4:01Speaker 2: for wedding photos.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Oh really yep.
- 4:03Speaker 1: So so the first the first hill, uh, there were
- 4:06Speaker 1: probably five or six cars, and there were people out,
- 4:08Speaker 1: you know, gambling around. And and then then we went
- 4:11Speaker 1: up over the hill a little bit and there was
- 4:13Speaker 1: another bunch of cars.
- 4:15Speaker 2: It is a very popular place to get.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Your it's just for photo opportunities.
- 4:20Speaker 2: It's because and it and it happens like it at
- 4:23Speaker 2: the Golden End. You know what the Golden hour is
- 4:26Speaker 2: that you know, allegedly the best lighters.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't really see it from the road, but
- 4:32Speaker 1: I imagine if you get over a little bit, you'd
- 4:35Speaker 1: look off into the into the vastness of the valley
- 4:38Speaker 1: and all of.
- 4:38Speaker 2: That, and it's it is beautiful, but it always makes
- 4:42Speaker 2: me nervous because there are families there with little kids
- 4:45Speaker 2: and stuff, and they're just on the side of the road.
- 4:47Speaker 1: They're far off there, pretty I always worry about that
- 4:51Speaker 1: they you know, you just tell the kids stay on
- 4:53Speaker 1: this side of the car. You're fine.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's and there. And you probably also noticed there's
- 4:59Speaker 2: a lot lot of construction going on up there, new
- 5:03Speaker 2: groomes and oh yeah, in the canyon and over trappers
- 5:08Speaker 2: there's a whole new subdivision there. And yeah, and I
- 5:12Speaker 2: am very much one of those people that once we
- 5:14Speaker 2: bought the farm up there, that I didn't want one
- 5:17Speaker 2: single other person.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Now that I now that I've got mine.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I want to be the last first. And that is
- 5:23Speaker 2: not what is happening there.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It's it's it's it's a beautiful place though. Man, it's
- 5:29Speaker 1: just so what a beautiful valley.
- 5:31Speaker 2: You know, you could come hang out with me there.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Well, I've got this other friend up there that I
- 5:36Speaker 1: that I liked, that I like to visit, so it's
- 5:39Speaker 1: not likely that I'll stop in.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Sunday night, we had a fire and we made
- 5:45Speaker 2: s'mores outside.
- 5:46Speaker 3: On the He has a trout pond.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I don't have a trout.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And he has four wheelers.
- 5:52Speaker 2: No, I don't. I don't have we have a tractor.
- 5:55Speaker 3: And he has a he has a huge bar. Huge.
- 6:00Speaker 2: We have a little bar.
- 6:02Speaker 3: And and and and we and we haven't. We had
- 6:04Speaker 3: a good time. You got up your game, I guess,
- 6:06Speaker 3: so I'm getting here.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Utah is home to six native pine species. I don't
- 6:11Speaker 2: know what they were, Monosa, which we have, pinion, limber,
- 6:18Speaker 2: bristle cone. We also have bristle cone is my favorite.
- 6:21Speaker 3: They have the longish needles.
- 6:24Speaker 2: They look like bristles on a on a toilet brush
- 6:28Speaker 2: or something. You know. Okay, lodge pole and pinion. Did
- 6:32Speaker 2: I say opinion already? Yeah?
- 6:34Speaker 1: I don't know why what? Maybe I misheard? Oh gone.
- 6:38Speaker 1: If you're listening and there is.
- 6:39Speaker 2: A a you noticed the roundabout, that probably was something
- 6:43Speaker 2: you hadn't seen before. I didn't you went through a roundabout.
- 6:48Speaker 2: There's no way you came up without going through the
- 6:50Speaker 2: round about.
- 6:50Speaker 3: No, No, I didn't.
- 6:53Speaker 2: There's no way he went to his house without going
- 6:56Speaker 2: through the roundabout.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure I didn't. Are you driving? Yes?
- 7:03Speaker 2: Anyway, there's a giant roundabout there and oh.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I know, see, okay, here's I didn't go through a roundabout,
- 7:09Speaker 1: my wife said. And we hadn't been up there in years.
- 7:12Speaker 1: My wife said, huh, I wonder why the GPS told
- 7:15Speaker 1: us to turn here.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Oh you turned before the roundabout.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what that must There must be a.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Turned by the chevron.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so so yes.
- 7:28Speaker 3: There is a way, don't. I don't know why you
- 7:31Speaker 3: do that to me. No, Bill, you had to go
- 7:33Speaker 3: through a round there's no way.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Yes, but the roundabout there we are donating flying carpet
- 7:43Speaker 2: farms trees. There will be three trees. Oh so they
- 7:47Speaker 2: get the trees, Kerry, you get them too, if we
- 7:50Speaker 2: can ever find someone to move them. They're yeah, they're.
- 7:53Speaker 1: They're getting so so they'll be there'll be three enormous
- 7:57Speaker 1: pine trees there to obscure people's vision when they go around.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Make it difficult.
- 8:02Speaker 2: No, no, it's not, because they said. Part of the
- 8:04Speaker 2: problem is when it's dark, people are driving straight through
- 8:08Speaker 2: it and getting an accidents they meet. You need a
- 8:12Speaker 2: barrier in the roundabout so they can say they can
- 8:14Speaker 2: run into a tree so they see it coming and going, Oh,
- 8:18Speaker 2: I guess I have to go around that.
- 8:22Speaker 1: So the roundabout is where Spring Creek is. Yeah, okay,
- 8:27Speaker 1: that's all that would be new to me. I haven't
- 8:30Speaker 1: been up there.
- 8:30Speaker 2: That's that's what I was thinking.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So but when I say, when I say, I didn't
- 8:36Speaker 1: go through a round pretty sure I didn't drive through
- 8:38Speaker 1: a roundabout.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I don't know why you would question you.
- 8:42Speaker 2: But your wife was confused about turning where you turned.
- 8:45Speaker 3: She wasn't confused.
- 8:46Speaker 1: She just said, as we were going up further, you know,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and she's like, this isn't the way. I wonder why,
- 8:53Speaker 1: and I and then I then when we made the
- 8:55Speaker 1: left turn, and then I could see there were that busy,
- 8:57Speaker 1: busier road. I think I think the GPS did that
- 9:02Speaker 1: the just because it's probably.
- 9:03Speaker 3: A little shorter.
- 9:05Speaker 2: The GPS knew that you needed to stay as far
- 9:07Speaker 2: away from me as possible.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Don't or don't go to the roundabout. I have a
- 9:13Speaker 1: noted hatred of Brenton. No, I don't. As a matter
- 9:16Speaker 1: of fact, I enjoy roundsbouts. I have a really fun
- 9:19Speaker 1: at the one now they put up by the Capitol.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I really I enjoy that because it's better than what
- 9:25Speaker 1: was there for sure, but people still get kind of
- 9:27Speaker 1: confused about now when.
- 9:29Speaker 3: There's accidents, all are there? Oh yeah, when am I
- 9:33Speaker 3: supposed to stop? I don't. Sometimes Bill just gets in
- 9:37Speaker 3: that roundabout and just keeps going.
- 9:39Speaker 1: And you know when you do that, for apople who
- 9:41Speaker 1: are at the yield signs, they can't move because you
- 9:45Speaker 1: just keep zooming around. Anyway, Sid says, you know what
- 9:54Speaker 1: Bill's friend didn't have Joe.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Joe is the nicest person who ever exists.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Well, he is very nice.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I think Sid sat next to Joe.
- 10:07Speaker 3: He is very nice. There were nice people where I was.
- 10:10Speaker 2: To text question, were you hanging out with that down.
- 10:17Speaker 3: God? No, it was not that down all right,
