- 2:29Speaker 3: So if you have not checked that out yet, seek
- 2:32Speaker 3: out his channel and go blow it up. Hammer the
- 2:36Speaker 3: like button, you know, do your thing. People, Ah and uh,
- 2:42Speaker 3: you know, write some kind words over there, because there's
- 2:45Speaker 3: people over there that are writing none not so kind
- 2:47Speaker 3: words about your boys here. Yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Oh I checked the yesterday and it was like at
- 2:56Speaker 1: least ten to one positive to negatives.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Should have checked it today, Joe, because maybe, uh yeah,
- 3:05Speaker 3: they got you pretty hard man. They got me good,
- 3:08Speaker 3: but they got you hard harder.
- 3:10Speaker 1: That's okay.
- 3:11Speaker 3: It's like a little bit. I'm a big boy bo
- 3:14Speaker 3: I know, I know, I'm just saying yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But we did have a great time on on Solving
- 3:20Speaker 1: JFK and Rob being the podcast legend.
- 3:25Speaker 3: He is.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Recorded last Friday Live with Us the next day on
- 3:31Speaker 1: Saturday for Quick Hits on Monday evening with Matt Crumpton
- 3:36Speaker 1: on Wednesday for Remembers only and now again here on
- 3:39Speaker 1: Friday night.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I also spent two hours with Janet Banister last night.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Oh I didn't do that. I forgot about that. How
- 3:47Speaker 1: was that?
- 3:48Speaker 3: Uh? It was? It was okay. Yeah, it was good
- 3:51Speaker 3: making the progress. We were helping her out with a
- 3:53Speaker 3: little bit with her season two outline. She has some
- 3:59Speaker 3: she has some questions about some things regarding Guy Banister,
- 4:03Speaker 3: and it was really cool we got I got to
- 4:07Speaker 3: hang there with her and and her sisters.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Her sisters were there.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, very very nice. Everybody was very nice, and yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 3: we had a good time. Like I said, it was
- 4:19Speaker 3: a couple couple hours. And she's she's very meticulously detailed
- 4:24Speaker 3: in her preparation.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I will say this is and you can tell that
- 4:27Speaker 1: from her season.
- 4:28Speaker 3: We had a gigantic spreadsheet, you know, and it was
- 4:33Speaker 3: just full of bullet points because she's going she's going
- 4:39Speaker 3: to be going into Banister in New Orleans for season two,
- 4:43Speaker 3: and as as everybody knows, there's a lot to that,
- 4:48Speaker 3: and of course her being somewhat impartial or wanting to
- 4:53Speaker 3: be someone impartial or come off as impartial. Mhm. She's
- 4:58Speaker 3: trying to look at things from both sides of the
- 5:01Speaker 3: spectrum of the conspiracy angle and the lone Nutter perspective
- 5:07Speaker 3: about Guy Banister.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And him being a part of her family. Right, that's well, she's.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Trying to like there's been a lot of allegations over
- 5:16Speaker 3: the years concerning Guy Banister, some some some good, some
- 5:22Speaker 3: not so good, some unsavory, And with anything when it
- 5:27Speaker 3: comes to your personal family, you know, she has certain
- 5:30Speaker 3: reservations about some things. But like I kind of told her,
- 5:33Speaker 3: I was like, look, you just got to put it
- 5:34Speaker 3: out there, the good, the good, the bad, the ugly,
- 5:38Speaker 3: you know, and you have to put it into the
- 5:40Speaker 3: perspective of the times. This was sixty some years ago.
- 5:43Speaker 3: America was a much different place than you know, people
- 5:47Speaker 3: that were, like I said, around sixty then, you know,
- 5:54Speaker 3: there they come from a different time. I mean, this
- 5:57Speaker 3: is like your great grandparents, you know what I mean. Like,
- 6:00Speaker 3: I mean, even my grandparents, you know, harbored some racial
- 6:08Speaker 3: issues because the way they were raised.
- 6:10Speaker 1: It's a different time.
- 6:12Speaker 3: They were you know, out burning crosses and wearing white
- 6:15Speaker 3: uniforms and the hoods. But you know, uh, it was
- 6:19Speaker 3: just a different time. You know, they were raised a
- 6:21Speaker 3: certain way and uh yeah, you know, in the South
- 6:25Speaker 3: and just the way it was.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, you have to take it in context of the
- 6:28Speaker 1: time period, for sure.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Yeah. So you know, I just kind of reassured us
- 6:32Speaker 3: to look, you know, don't worry about the blowback. It
- 6:34Speaker 3: is what it is. It's it's out of your hands.
- 6:37Speaker 3: There's nothing to control. It's just the facts. And so
- 6:40Speaker 3: just be be open and honest or people going to
- 6:43Speaker 3: come after you for not being open and honest. So
- 6:46Speaker 3: it was a it was a good call. We got
- 6:48Speaker 3: a lot accomplished, and hopefully I left here with more
- 6:51Speaker 3: questions and answers as I love to do here on
- 6:55Speaker 3: this show.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So six out of eight nights, including this Friday and
- 7:02Speaker 1: last last Friday and this Friday.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Yeah, so technically sixty fast and eight nights. Wow, I'm
- 7:09Speaker 3: a machine. Joe, you are you are.
- 7:13Speaker 1: No one can deny that.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Ell Machina.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 3: So before we get started, let's welcome in the folks. Joe.
- 7:22Speaker 3: We got h tiny dancer first in line.
- 7:26Speaker 6: Hello, tiny sounding tonight, good job, Ty. Yeah, there's a
- 7:31Speaker 6: line I'd like to get in. Uh, Paul, but Paul did,
- 7:37Speaker 6: Oh no, Trey did Trey?
- 7:40Speaker 3: Paul? What's up? Fellas bungled what's up? Bungled Paul's in
- 7:44Speaker 3: the house. Howdy Hotty, Howdy. Big Mic is always in
- 7:48Speaker 3: the house. What's up? Fort Worth, Texas in the house. Uh,
- 7:53Speaker 3: let's see, let's see.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Ruby's in the house. She's looking at me as
- 8:00Speaker 1: I just said her name.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Scott is in the house. Hello, Scott, Hell is Scott?
- 8:07Speaker 3: Jack is in the house. What's up? Jack? You listen
- 8:09Speaker 3: to the replay? You damn righty is fire? Always is
- 8:13Speaker 3: fire if we do say so ourselves. Uh, by Steve Clawson,
- 8:19Speaker 3: what is up? That is a somewhat new name.
- 8:22Speaker 1: So yeah, we have a few dozen new subscribers from
- 8:26Speaker 1: the podcast on Wednesday since I dropped.
- 8:29Speaker 3: So yeah, anyone, let's come over from.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Solving jfk Uh. We're happy to have you here, and
- 8:36Speaker 1: you'll be happy to learn that Matt.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Is going to come on in two weeks and and.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Kind of bullshit with us. And uh, we're happy that
- 8:44Speaker 1: you enjoyed it enough to subscribe and come over here.
- 8:48Speaker 3: See see South to West is in the house. Yes,
- 8:52Speaker 3: I am grinding, Bud, I am grinding.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Never stops never.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Paula is in the house.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Hot Paula, good evening, Paula.
- 9:06Speaker 3: All right, it looks like I wrote call for classes
- 9:10Speaker 3: in Welcome Welcome in everyone. So a couple of things
- 9:13Speaker 3: have happened Joe, Emilee, Helloly, did I miss Lee? No,
- 9:20Speaker 3: he just mentioned. He just commented, Oh okay, yeah, welcome
- 9:25Speaker 3: in Lee. There he is. So a couple of things
- 9:34Speaker 3: have happened. Big news. Clint Hill passed away, right, we
- 9:41Speaker 3: got the news. I think late last it was the
- 9:45Speaker 3: late last Friday or Monday, I don't know. Anyway, Rest
- 9:51Speaker 3: in peace. Clint Hill.
- 9:54Speaker 1: The only guy that made an effort in the Secret Service.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And you know, I was messaging and kind of messing
- 10:03Speaker 1: with Mike and I was like, well, you know, it
- 10:05Speaker 1: was kind He was kind of a warr commissioned defender,
- 10:07Speaker 1: almost like a gatekeeper of the Secret Service. But at
- 10:10Speaker 1: the end of the day, he was the only person
- 10:13Speaker 1: that sprung into action. Everyone else was looking around like,
- 10:17Speaker 1: who what will we do? So props to him. You
- 10:20Speaker 1: can't take that away from him, you cannot.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, all the nonsense later on in life,
- 10:26Speaker 3: with the different stories and all that jazz whatever, you know,
- 10:31Speaker 3: but props to him. He pulled a thirty year younger wife.
- 10:36Speaker 3: You know, he must have been doing something right. So
- 10:41Speaker 3: props to Clint Hill.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Robert, I have an analogy is he is he
- 10:46Speaker 1: kind of like the level of the DPD for the
- 10:49Speaker 1: Secret Service.
- 10:53Speaker 3: I wouldn't say that much, and I've seen people say
- 10:56Speaker 3: that he was a gatekeeper for the Secret Service, which
- 11:01Speaker 3: you know, I understand. I mean, well, he protected his
- 11:05Speaker 3: he did his thing, and I'm sure they treated him well,
- 11:09Speaker 3: as you said, he was the only one to do
- 11:12Speaker 3: anything that day, you know, and he stayed there for
- 11:19Speaker 3: I'm not sure how long after the assassination with the
- 11:22Speaker 3: Secret Service, but I'm pretty sure that he stayed on
- 11:29Speaker 3: as Jackie's personal protection, if you will, after that, and
- 11:33Speaker 3: may have even there's been rumors of certain romantic interludes
- 11:38Speaker 3: there as well.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Really, yeah, he was a good looking guy back in
- 11:43Speaker 1: the day.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you know, you seen the movie The Bodyguard, right,
- 11:50Speaker 3: I have not real will always love you. Okay, I'll
- 12:00Speaker 3: shut the cup right now because that was horrible.
- 12:03Speaker 1: That was great with a vape smoke coming out of
- 12:06Speaker 1: the mouth, that was like pretty good. I might screech
- 12:12Speaker 1: that later.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Yeah, not use that as a short no, where you're fired? Okay,
- 12:20Speaker 3: So all right, Pete Clint Hill, Yes, bravo to him
- 12:23Speaker 3: for actually doing something that day. And I don't blame
- 12:27Speaker 3: him for gate keeping. That was his organization, you know,
- 12:32Speaker 3: through and through. You're not going to do something to
- 12:36Speaker 3: screw up your pension, Rob.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Do you know how long he stayed on the back
- 12:41Speaker 1: of the presidential limo? Did he go all the way
- 12:43Speaker 1: to parking on it? Did he put himself up like
- 12:46Speaker 1: in the back seat? I can't remember.
- 12:49Speaker 3: I know he was riding on it most of the
- 12:51Speaker 3: way because he could not get into the back seat
- 12:55Speaker 3: because the president is slumped over into Jackie's lap. You know,
- 13:00Speaker 3: I think he pretty much rode like right on the
- 13:03Speaker 3: back of.
- 13:04Speaker 1: The seat that whole way, for almost the whole way.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow, Yeah, So that's that's a true American hero
- 13:12Speaker 3: ship right there, you know what I mean.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So, yeah, it's definitely an iconic image right up, easy, No,
- 13:23Speaker 1: it's definitely an iconic image. As I was saying, that's
- 13:26Speaker 1: a big part of the Superior film. But yeah, let's
- 13:35Speaker 1: get into uh our topic for tonight, mister Rob. He
- 13:40Speaker 1: wrote down the freeway there according to photos, Yeah, I
- 13:45Speaker 1: know that. I was just not sure if you've rolled
- 13:47Speaker 1: the whole way. I'm guessing probably because they're not going
- 13:53Speaker 1: to stop it, right, h.
- 13:58Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean I don't know, there's not I
- 14:03Speaker 3: don't think there was much room there in the back
- 14:05Speaker 3: seat because of the jump seats. And he probably just
- 14:10Speaker 3: how long grew up and held on, held on for
- 14:12Speaker 3: dear life, said.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Let's go, as many were holding on for dear life.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Well go go go. He was white and knuckling it. Yeah,
- 14:29Speaker 3: because as Paul said, there were photos. Yes, I didn't
- 14:32Speaker 3: know that. So yeah, rest in peace, Clint Hill, you're
- 14:36Speaker 3: the man.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah. They keep dying off fewer and every year, and
- 14:43Speaker 1: they knew. As we talked about on Wednesday, and we
- 14:47Speaker 1: were kind of making fun of the task Force.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Well, let's scratch one off the hotty task Force hotty
- 14:54Speaker 3: list of people to interview about this.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe should have more luck with all the medical doctors.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Oh wait, they're all dead too, or the Warrant Commission.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Yeah, they're all over the dirt and it doesn't really
- 15:11Speaker 3: matter what they have to say, So let's scratch them
- 15:13Speaker 3: off with this as well. Yeah.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Yeah, And we're referring to a tweet by Anna Pauline
- 15:20Speaker 1: a Luna saying she's going down to Dallas with the
- 15:22Speaker 1: Task Force to interview firsthand witnesses. Yeah, and we're not
- 15:27Speaker 1: going to rehash that, but members only people.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Will know that. Let's just say there aren't many left
- 15:34Speaker 3: in Dallas, and the ones that are, well, you know
- 15:39Speaker 3: who you are.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and you may as well not listen to them.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Sixty one years later and just.
- 15:45Speaker 3: We see you you, we see you.
- 15:50Speaker 1: So hey, all right, sir.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Tonight I came across an article from many many moons
- 16:01Speaker 3: ago kind of written about this weird convergence at the
- 16:11Speaker 3: Cabana Motor Hotel Lodge. Now, I am going to pop
- 16:19Speaker 3: back up the cover photo for this very episode here
- 16:23Speaker 3: because it has a very glorious picture of the Cabana
- 16:27Speaker 3: and all its glory in the late sixties. I believe
- 16:31Speaker 3: this picture was taken in nineteen sixty seven. As you
- 16:34Speaker 3: can see, it was quite the fancy spot.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Joe doesn't look like a motel.
- 16:39Speaker 3: No, it was a motor hotel, is what they called it.
- 16:43Speaker 3: It means you could drive right up to Sunmitch Park
- 16:45Speaker 3: and stay there. Now, it was quite fancy, had you know,
- 16:49Speaker 3: lighted fountains in the front, and as many hotels did
- 16:54Speaker 3: back then, they had a I guess it was a
- 17:00Speaker 3: theater inside where singers, lounge singers, you know, big names
- 17:04Speaker 3: would come. You know, before there was arenas, they would
- 17:08Speaker 3: do the rounds at the hotels and you know, often
- 17:15Speaker 3: making these places a destination instead of just a room
- 17:19Speaker 3: for the night. You know these you know, like you
- 17:23Speaker 3: can roll up. They'd have like Frank Sinatra performing, you know,
- 17:27Speaker 3: three nights and yeah, it would pack that hotel to
- 17:30Speaker 3: the gills and sell to the guests. And I mean
- 17:33Speaker 3: imagine how many rooms they sold and food that they
- 17:36Speaker 3: sold if they had a big name singer there, you know,
- 17:40Speaker 3: over the weekend or something. I mean, so that's what
- 17:43Speaker 3: we're looking at here.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of like a residency in Vegas these days.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, something kind of like that, like you know,
- 17:51Speaker 3: the Dead and Company at the Sphere, you know, the
- 17:57Speaker 3: Grateful Dead live at the Cabana Hotel and that.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I would have hit that show.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Hell yeah, just stay away from the balcony. Yeah, for sure,
- 18:10Speaker 3: bad things happen around balconies, Joe, That's true.
- 18:14Speaker 1: That's very sure.
- 18:16Speaker 3: And I don't know, Joe might have a little bit
- 18:19Speaker 3: more here in a little bit about the history or
- 18:24Speaker 3: what happened to the Cabana Hotel. Something interesting, Well, we'll
- 18:29Speaker 3: get to That was the Cabana downtown Dallas. The Cabana
- 18:36Speaker 3: was I believe right on the Stemen right off the
- 18:40Speaker 3: Stemens Freeway if I'm remembering correctly. Yes, so, yes, it
- 18:48Speaker 3: was back then. It was probably what you would call
- 18:52Speaker 3: the outskirts maybe, but it was still close to downtown fairly. Yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 3: The Beatles and other rock bands stayed at the Cabana.
- 19:05Speaker 3: So that tells you that this place was a thank you, Paula,
- 19:08Speaker 3: that this place was, you know, one of the swankier
- 19:11Speaker 3: joints if you will, back in the sixties. Yeh. And
- 19:16Speaker 3: funny fun fact Joe about the Beatles. As you know,
- 19:21Speaker 3: the invasion came mere months after JFK's assassination, their invasion
- 19:28Speaker 3: of America. And as they as they landed at love
- 19:31Speaker 3: Field and they were making their way to the Cabana,
- 19:34Speaker 3: they drove through Deally Plaza and pretended like they were
- 19:37Speaker 3: getting shot in the back of the car. Really yeah,
- 19:41Speaker 3: stop it, no shit, true story. And they were laughing
- 19:46Speaker 3: and giggling and pretending they were getting shot in the
- 19:48Speaker 3: back of the car they were driving through Deally Plaza.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Oh wow, yeah, I mean these are young kids at
- 19:56Speaker 3: the time. You know whatever.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Yeah, they're they're tripping.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, they're riding high probably literally. All right, So
- 20:07Speaker 3: the Cabana. The more we checked into the Cabana, I
- 20:11Speaker 3: was like, Okay, well, there's a lot of interesting things
- 20:15Speaker 3: going on there. And one of the main things is
- 20:18Speaker 3: Jack Ruby visits the Cabana Motor Hotel the night before
- 20:24Speaker 3: the assassination as part of his I guess World Win
- 20:28Speaker 3: tour of whatever the hell he was doing the night
- 20:32Speaker 3: before the assassination. And we'll get more into that for sure,
- 20:37Speaker 3: but I just wanted to to go through and and
- 20:40Speaker 3: and read a little bit about who all was at
- 20:46Speaker 3: the Cabana that we can, because it's a very interesting list.
- 20:54Speaker 3: So definitely is at the Cabana that weekend is a
- 21:05Speaker 3: friend of Jack Ruby's named Lawrence Myers, and he is
- 21:13Speaker 3: from Chicago, where Jack Ruby is from. Allegedly, the story
- 21:21Speaker 3: goes that this guy was a big, swinging dick businessman
- 21:26Speaker 3: right lots of money and often traveled to Dallas and
- 21:32Speaker 3: would stay at the Adolphus and would go across the
- 21:36Speaker 3: street and hang out at the Carousel Club. And I
- 21:42Speaker 3: think the first time he went there, him and Jack
- 21:45Speaker 3: Ruby really got on very well because in the course
- 21:49Speaker 3: of talking, of course he found out that Jack was
- 21:52Speaker 3: from Chicago, and of course they had something in common then,
- 21:55Speaker 3: and they could go reminisce, you know, and and and
- 22:02Speaker 3: like I said, Larry was still Lawrence Myers was still
- 22:05Speaker 3: living in Chicago, but every time he would go hang
- 22:09Speaker 3: out with Jack and they became somewhat somewhat of friends,
- 22:13Speaker 3: right And uh does it mean anything? I don't know.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I mean we'll dive in more into who Lawrence Myers was.
- 22:23Speaker 3: But along with Lawrence Myers, uh was a blue eyed,
- 22:30Speaker 3: blonde fluozy hoo by the name of Jeene Ace. I
- 22:35Speaker 3: believe her name was the dick there. And we'll get
- 22:42Speaker 3: more into this here in a little bit. Is that
- 22:46Speaker 3: accord During the course of the Yearson investigation, they investigated
- 22:51Speaker 3: calls made from uh g ray Gill's office specifically, and well,
- 23:03Speaker 3: they couldn't really pin down who made the call because
- 23:06Speaker 3: it's strictly coming from an office line, and there was
- 23:10Speaker 3: lots of people in gray Gill's office. There were secretaries
- 23:14Speaker 3: and investigators like David Ferry. Now, of course Garrison would
- 23:18Speaker 3: try to say that David Ferry made a call to
- 23:21Speaker 3: this number, and we also have calls made to that
- 23:25Speaker 3: number by Jack Ruby as well. So he was trying
- 23:30Speaker 3: to turn this into some kind of a weird connection,
- 23:33Speaker 3: which is why we're here talking about this whole thing
- 23:37Speaker 3: this evening now. Also at the Cabana that evening was
- 23:46Speaker 3: Lawrence Meyer's brother Eddie and his wife Thelma, and possibly
- 23:53Speaker 3: his son. Were not sure because Eddie, Thelma and his
- 23:59Speaker 3: son had been in Mexico previously to this UH to
- 24:04Speaker 3: coming back and staying in in UH in Dallas, his
- 24:09Speaker 3: brother Eddie was was there as as a Pepsi cola
- 24:12Speaker 3: distributor for the Pepsi Cola conference, you know, the same
- 24:16Speaker 3: one that Nixon was was speaking at. It was happening
- 24:19Speaker 3: in Dallas that weekend as well.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe it was from New York, wasn't he?
- 24:25Speaker 3: Who?
- 24:26Speaker 1: Uh, Edward?
- 24:31Speaker 3: I don't know. I know he was Lawrence Meyer's brother.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I have I have a couple of things on So.
- 24:38Speaker 3: If Lawrence is from Chicago originally, my guess would be
- 24:42Speaker 3: that Eddie was from Chicago originally but maybe living in
- 24:45Speaker 3: New York at the time. Okay. Also staying at the
- 24:58Speaker 3: Cabana that weekend a fellow by the name of Jim
- 25:02Speaker 3: Braiden aka Eugene Hale Braiden. This is why Jim Garrison
- 25:09Speaker 3: had a giant hard on for Jim Braden, trying to
- 25:13Speaker 3: get him extradited from California to New Orleans so he
- 25:18Speaker 3: could implicate him, possibly in the assassination conspiracy.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yes, famously caught in the Dallas text building, Yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 3: And arrested, Yeah, but subsequently released. And we'll get more
- 25:34Speaker 3: into Jim Braiden here a little bit. Along with Jim Braiden.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I believe who was it Joe Morgan that would be Uh,
- 25:51Speaker 3: wasn't Frank Morgan.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Wasn't Morgan Brown? Morgan Brown the oil producer, Yeah, two
- 25:57Speaker 1: five five Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles, Brown and Root.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:04Speaker 1: And I believe Braiden was from Los Angeles, right or CA.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. And according to author Peter Noyes, Braiden is
- 26:18Speaker 3: alleged to have paid a visit to the offices of
- 26:19Speaker 3: the Hunt Oil Company the day before the assassination synchronicity.
- 26:25Speaker 3: The same day, Jack Ruby drove a young woman named
- 26:27Speaker 3: Connie Trammell to their same offices for a job interview
- 26:30Speaker 3: with Lamar Hunt. Hunt security chief Paul Rothamel would later
- 26:34Speaker 3: state that Ruby himself did not enter Hunt's office that day,
- 26:37Speaker 3: but Rothermel was certain at some point Brayden did. Braiden, however,
- 26:41Speaker 3: has always maintained that his only associates, that only his
- 26:45Speaker 3: associates visited the Hunt with the Hunts. Now there's also
- 26:50Speaker 3: a Jim Braiden David Ferry connection. Why not, of course
- 26:56Speaker 3: there is. You can't make this stuff up, folks. So
- 27:05Speaker 3: David Ferry worked out of Room one seven oh seven
- 27:07Speaker 3: in the pair Marquette Building in New Orleans, and that
- 27:11Speaker 3: was the office of g Ray Gill, Carlos Barcelo's attorney.
- 27:18Speaker 3: A czech of federal records and correspondence showed that, in
- 27:21Speaker 3: addition to his office in Beverly Hills, California, Braiding also
- 27:25Speaker 3: shared office space on occasion in the Para Marquette Building
- 27:29Speaker 3: a few doors away from Ferry, in rooms seventeen oh one.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Seventeen oh one was the office of an oil geologist,
- 27:36Speaker 3: Vernon Maine Junior, and Braiden did receive mail at that
- 27:39Speaker 3: address and at one time informed parole authorities that he
- 27:42Speaker 3: would be working out of the Main's office while he
- 27:44Speaker 3: was in New Orleans. Who there's that? Did Lawrence Myers know?
- 27:53Speaker 3: Jim Braden. Myers told the House Select Committee that he
- 27:57Speaker 3: had never heard of Braiden and knew nothing about him
- 27:59Speaker 3: being at the kaband on November twenty first, sixty three.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yep he did.
- 28:03Speaker 3: And we'll get more into his House Select Comittee assassination
- 28:07Speaker 3: stuff here in it a little bit now. Also deposed
- 28:13Speaker 3: by the House Selectivity on Assassinations in nineteen seventy eight,
- 28:16Speaker 3: Jim Braden expressed anger and bitterness towards author Peter Noyas
- 28:22Speaker 3: who quote dug my grave and completely ruined my life
- 28:27Speaker 3: end quote, creating charges that I was connecting a sinisters
- 28:32Speaker 3: conspiracy to assassinate former President John F. Kennedy. Whatever the
- 28:38Speaker 3: Committee can do to straighten the matter out and get
- 28:40Speaker 3: to the truth of it, I would appreciate, stated Braiden
- 28:44Speaker 3: born braiding, because I want my name cleared and I
- 28:47Speaker 3: want to stigma removed from my name and my family's name.
- 28:51Speaker 3: And this is of course some fifteen years after the assassination.
- 28:56Speaker 3: He's still a little pissed off about that. So Joe,
- 29:04Speaker 3: I'm going to hand things over to you and we're
- 29:06Speaker 3: going to go a little bit deeper into the Myers
- 29:11Speaker 3: uh and some of these other Focalton uh here in
- 29:17Speaker 3: the Copah Copa Cobana, yep.
- 29:24Speaker 1: And as we discussed on remembers only, I think like
- 29:28Speaker 1: three or four weeks ago when Ruby was arrested and
- 29:32Speaker 1: Ralph Paul, his business partner who we will touch on
- 29:35Speaker 1: as well, took over operations of the Carousel Club. He
- 29:39Speaker 1: tried changing the name before he had to shut it down.
- 29:44Speaker 3: And Ralph, I believe Ralph Paul was eating dinner at
- 29:47Speaker 3: the Cabana the night before the assassination along with Ruby
- 29:52Speaker 3: and the Myers.
- 29:53Speaker 1: And yeah, yeah, that's a big uh.
- 29:56Speaker 3: If I'm not mistaken, I could be mistaken, but I
- 29:58Speaker 3: don't think I am.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I believe you are not. So yeah, I looked into
- 30:04Speaker 1: a little bit of Lawrence Myers, and granted, you know,
- 30:08Speaker 1: I didn't know much about him whatsoever, but I thought
- 30:11Speaker 1: we'd start with the hsca biographical summary on him, because
- 30:17Speaker 1: that will kinda lay the baseline in a sense. Lawrence
- 30:21Speaker 1: Myers was born December sixteenth, nineteen ten, in New York.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Spent a number of years working in various California cities
- 30:29Speaker 1: after leaving New York as a teenager, and settled in
- 30:33Speaker 1: the Chicago area, staying there for eight years. There's an
- 30:37Speaker 1: indication that he once went by the name of Hyman
- 30:41Speaker 1: Victor Myers and all right. In seventy eight, he was
- 30:48Speaker 1: living in Dallas, having moved there in March sixty four
- 30:52Speaker 1: for business purposes. He married in nineteen thirty six and
- 30:58Speaker 1: had three children and six Lawrence Myers was the sales
- 31:03Speaker 1: manager in the sporting goods division of euro manufacturing Company
- 31:09Speaker 1: West Monroe Street, Chicago. In sixty four, he moved to
- 31:12Speaker 1: a similar position with a competitor, Farmer Brothers, Memphis, Tennessee.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I'm just going to skip some of his later work
- 31:28Speaker 1: timeline as that's not completely relevant. But there is no
- 31:32Speaker 1: indication that this is the HCA summary Here. There's no
- 31:35Speaker 1: indication that Myers had engaged in criminal activities, had a
- 31:39Speaker 1: criminal record, or had been the subject of any criminal
- 31:43Speaker 1: or related investigations. In quotes, besides the assassination of Jaka,
- 31:49Speaker 1: he did not appear to have any political or law
- 31:51Speaker 1: enforcement connections. But let's see, the Warrant Commission considered Myers
- 32:02Speaker 1: to be a personal friend of Jack Ruby, with no
- 32:06Speaker 1: intimidation or of criminal or similar links, and it merely
- 32:11Speaker 1: tried to examine the extent of this friendship Myers impressions
- 32:16Speaker 1: of Ruby, and Meyer's possible knowledge of any of Ruby's
- 32:21Speaker 1: actions or associates. Myers Commission testimony of August twenty four
- 32:26Speaker 1: to sixty four, taken by Bert Griffin of the War Commission,
- 32:30Speaker 1: was therefore direct and somewhat brief. He was accommodating and responsive,
- 32:35Speaker 1: but his recollection of dates was somewhat poor. And that's
- 32:41Speaker 1: going to be key when we get into his AGCA
- 32:43Speaker 1: here rob as it was during his nineteen seventy eight
- 32:47Speaker 1: committee deposition, Yes quite poor. Myers told the Warren Commission
- 32:54Speaker 1: that he first met Jack Ruby by chance at the
- 32:56Speaker 1: Carousel Nightclub, although he was not certain of the exact day.
- 33:00Speaker 1: He said he had known Ruby for six or seven years,
- 33:06Speaker 1: pre dating Ruby's ownership of the Carousel Club. In his
- 33:10Speaker 1: nineteen seventy eight deposition for the HCA, Meyer said that
- 33:14Speaker 1: he first met Ruby at a sporting good show in
- 33:17Speaker 1: Dallas in nineteen sixty one or early sixty two, to
- 33:21Speaker 1: which Ruby had gone because of his interest in barbells
- 33:25Speaker 1: and physical culture. Is that weights, yeah, right, like the
- 33:33Speaker 1: bar bells, like freeway to use the gym, okay, I
- 33:36Speaker 1: wasn't sure about that.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Ruby was very fitness oriented Joe Yes, yes, a fan
- 33:43Speaker 3: of swimming at the YMCA.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Not sure.
- 33:46Speaker 3: The twist board yeah, yes, yes, he gave a big
- 33:50Speaker 3: demonstration at the Cabanon. Yeah.
- 33:54Speaker 1: And I guess that physical culture comment makes sense, But
- 33:58Speaker 1: Lawrence Myer shared that interest, and they had also had
- 34:02Speaker 1: their mutual Chicago backgrounds and religious beliefs. They were both
- 34:07Speaker 1: Jewish with their relationship. While their relationship has been described
- 34:12Speaker 1: by a carousel dancer as casual, Meyers stated in nineteen
- 34:17Speaker 1: sixty four that he had seen Ruby twenty to thirty
- 34:20Speaker 1: five times since their first meeting. They always met in
- 34:24Speaker 1: Dallas at the carousel, as Myers had occasion to make
- 34:28Speaker 1: frequent business trips to Dallas. In seventy eight, Myers amended
- 34:33Speaker 1: the number of contexts.
- 34:34Speaker 3: To twelve, so.
- 34:37Speaker 1: He kind of cut that down by a third. There
- 34:42Speaker 1: there is no indication that any pre sixty three visits
- 34:45Speaker 1: by Myers were relevant. Myers visited Dallas at least four
- 34:50Speaker 1: times in sixty three. One visit occurred in October. Most
- 34:54Speaker 1: of the details concerning this visit came from Joyce Lee McDonald,
- 34:59Speaker 1: a dance earth carousel, who stated that she first met
- 35:02Speaker 1: Myers on October ten, sixty three at the club and
- 35:05Speaker 1: saw him there for several eating evenings that week. She
- 35:10Speaker 1: once had a few drinks with him. Hmm, interesting, only
- 35:15Speaker 1: a few drinks from let's see. Myers testimony indicated that
- 35:25Speaker 1: he first met McDonald stripper that week at the Texas
- 35:30Speaker 1: State Fair, where McDonald had a part time job involving
- 35:34Speaker 1: a film promotion. And they go into this whole thing
- 35:37Speaker 1: about a check that bounced. The incident seemed trivial, but
- 35:42Speaker 1: Myers was also in Dallas during the week of the assassination,
- 35:45Speaker 1: arriving from Chicago with a female companion, Jeane West. Put
- 35:52Speaker 1: a bookmark in that name Ladies and Gents, who also
- 35:56Speaker 1: used the name of Jeene Asse. Myers had first met
- 36:02Speaker 1: with the first met West in Chicago a week or
- 36:05Speaker 1: two before the assassination at a lounge in the apartment
- 36:10Speaker 1: building where West lived. Myers described her as a quote
- 36:16Speaker 1: semi professional hooker. So he takes this semi professional hooker
- 36:22Speaker 1: with him to Dallas. They arrived in Dallas on November
- 36:28Speaker 1: twenty and sixty three, registering at the Dallas Ramata Inn.
- 36:32Speaker 1: They moved to the Cabana on November twenty first, sixty three.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Myers was not able to explain fully why the switch
- 36:42Speaker 1: in motels happened, and offered the possibilities that the Cabana
- 36:47Speaker 1: was completely booked or that he needed sleep after arriving
- 36:53Speaker 1: in Dallas, and the Ramada was located near the airport.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Myers conducted his normal business activities during the day. On
- 37:04Speaker 1: November twenty first, sixty three, accompanied by his Gumar, he
- 37:09Speaker 1: had met over year two before, visited Ruby at the
- 37:13Speaker 1: Carousel Club that evening. That would be November twenty first,
- 37:17Speaker 1: the night before the assassination, although in nineteen seventy eight
- 37:21Speaker 1: his recollection of this meeting was very vague virtually nonexistent.
- 37:27Speaker 1: The Carousel visit lasted for approximately one hour. They had
- 37:32Speaker 1: drinks and discussed show personalities, the acts of the carousel,
- 37:35Speaker 1: and other things. Myerstl the Warrant Commission that Ruby was
- 37:38Speaker 1: upset that evening over the firing of Janet Conforto Akaa Jada.
- 37:45Speaker 1: We have talked about her leaving Dallas. I believe it
- 37:50Speaker 1: was the morning of the twenty second rob and another performer,
- 37:56Speaker 1: although the dismissal dismissal had occurred one month earlier. Myers
- 38:02Speaker 1: and West returned to the cabana after having invited Ruby
- 38:06Speaker 1: to join them there for a drink. Ruby arrived with
- 38:09Speaker 1: the Cabana at approximately midnight, where he met Myers and
- 38:13Speaker 1: West and was introduced to Edward Myers, Lawrence Myers's brother
- 38:19Speaker 1: and his wife. Edward Myers was in Dallas attending a
- 38:22Speaker 1: convention related to his New York bottling and distribution business.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Ruby stayed at Cabana for only a few minutes, allegedly,
- 38:31Speaker 1: and had to return to his club. Myers next contact
- 38:37Speaker 1: with Ruby occurred on Saturday night. So we're going from
- 38:40Speaker 1: Thursday night to Saturday night here, November twenty third, nineteen
- 38:44Speaker 1: sixty three, although the exact circumstances are muddled. When interviewed
- 38:49Speaker 1: following the assassination, Myers had spoken of the telephone call
- 38:53Speaker 1: to his room at the Cabana at approximately ten pm
- 38:58Speaker 1: from Ruby. They talked for about fifteen to twenty minutes,
- 39:01Speaker 1: were unable to arrange a meeting that night, and made
- 39:04Speaker 1: tentative plans to have dinner the following night. Okay, so
- 39:09Speaker 1: they're talking about Friday. That's what the calls made. Myers
- 39:16Speaker 1: told the FBI that on Sunday, November twenty fourth, Myers
- 39:20Speaker 1: went to McKinley, Texas on business, then to Sherman, Texas,
- 39:24Speaker 1: intending to play golf shot up for Perfessuable Concepts, but
- 39:28Speaker 1: this was canceled after news of the shooting of Oswalt arrived.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Myers told the committee that he had received the news
- 39:36Speaker 1: of the shooting while driving to his golf date, and
- 39:40Speaker 1: that he continued and played around of golf because why not,
- 39:44Speaker 1: and shot his quote worst round ever. Great added context
- 39:50Speaker 1: there hungover maybe or maybe worried about something else. You're
- 39:56Speaker 1: involved in. Golf is mental. You know, if you're buy
- 40:00Speaker 1: and out, you're not gonna play well. I can attest
- 40:02Speaker 1: to that.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Look, this guy had been up half the night banging
- 40:05Speaker 3: this whore drinking. Give give him a break, man. Yeah,
- 40:11Speaker 3: he could shoot. He could shoot a one twenty that morning.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Fair enough. I respect that. On November twenty fifth, Myers
- 40:22Speaker 1: and West flew back to Chicago, So that would be
- 40:24Speaker 1: that one day. And Myers said he never saw West again.
- 40:30Speaker 1: So the gumar he brought two Dallas, he never saw
- 40:35Speaker 1: again following their return to Chicago.
- 40:39Speaker 3: You know why he didn't see her again because Lawrence
- 40:43Speaker 3: Myers was married, and uh, he had to go and
- 40:51Speaker 3: talk to the Warrant Commission about this indiscretion of a
- 40:56Speaker 3: trip with his side piece. Yea, and his wife got
- 41:01Speaker 3: a little pissed off about it, as one would.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, yeah, So essentially he got caught in the
- 41:09Speaker 1: middle of something and probably had to have a tough conversation.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Very bad timing, you know, thanks a lot, Jack Ruby.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:21Speaker 2: So.
- 41:22Speaker 1: The commission also questioned several other witnesses as to whether
- 41:26Speaker 1: or not they knew or heard Lawrence Myers. Ralph Paul,
- 41:30Speaker 1: who was Ruby's business associate, Eva Grant, Alice Nichols, and
- 41:38Speaker 1: Curtis Crayford rob all said they had no recollection of
- 41:44Speaker 1: this individual Myers, although Myers had stated that he knew
- 41:48Speaker 1: Eva Grant. Ruby's roommate, George Senator said he remembered meeting
- 41:53Speaker 1: Myers at the Carousel one night during the summer of
- 41:55Speaker 1: sixty three, although he's not sure of the date. George
- 41:58Speaker 1: Senator gave the Warm Commission a brief description of Myers
- 42:02Speaker 1: and stated that he knew a little bit about his business,
- 42:05Speaker 1: but not how Ruby had met him. Senator stated that
- 42:08Speaker 1: he met Myers just that one time, but Myers told
- 42:13Speaker 1: the FBI that he had met Senator at the carousel
- 42:17Speaker 1: on several occasions, and told the Commission he had met
- 42:21Speaker 1: Senator at least six times.
- 42:24Speaker 3: I don't remember a goddamn thing about him. One time
- 42:28Speaker 3: I met.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Him, first time being shortly after he met Ruby.
- 42:32Speaker 3: I'm George Senator. Yeah.
- 42:35Speaker 1: In nineteen seventy eight, However, Meyer stated he had met
- 42:38Speaker 1: Senator only once, saying hello, how are you. Also stated
- 42:43Speaker 1: he had met Abe Weinstein casually after Weinstein was out
- 42:48Speaker 1: of the nightclub business, and he knew Joe Campeazi, having
- 42:53Speaker 1: first met him in the late nineteen sixties or early
- 42:59Speaker 1: seventies at a golf tournament deposition before the HCA. This
- 43:04Speaker 1: is great, rob.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Oh.
- 43:15Speaker 1: I might have.
- 43:17Speaker 3: Not included that, but it was great.
- 43:21Speaker 1: He Myers had played a golf tournament with Campeze, he goes,
- 43:27Speaker 1: and his I haven't actually After In a later slide,
- 43:30Speaker 1: he goes, oh, as a matter of fact, I played
- 43:33Speaker 1: a golf tournament with him just last week, camp Ez.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Myers is saying of campez So I think his meeting
- 43:44Speaker 1: him in the late nineteen sixties early nineteen seventies date
- 43:48Speaker 1: range might be off by about a decade. He is
- 43:54Speaker 1: hedging his limits here in terms of when he met Campeze,
- 43:58Speaker 1: and of course that brings up the question of why.
- 44:03Speaker 3: But probably because he's a dirty, dirty ratt.
- 44:10Speaker 1: So I have one more document. Let me share this
- 44:16Speaker 1: really quick on an early FBI document on Edward Myers,
- 44:21Speaker 1: which was Lawrence Myers's brother. And this is an FBI document.
- 44:28Speaker 1: It's dated twelve six, but I believe it's twelve two
- 44:31Speaker 1: or three. And Edward Myers, who resides in Brooklyn, New York,
- 44:36Speaker 1: and was the owner of the operator of Queen's Beverage
- 44:39Speaker 1: Company distributor. He and his wife had planned to attend
- 44:45Speaker 1: the convention of the American Bottlers of Carbonated.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Beverages Carbinated Beverages.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Imagine how exciting.
- 44:53Speaker 3: That otherwise.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Jeez. He had also decided to combine this with a
- 45:01Speaker 1: vacation trip to Mexico City and visit his wife's sister.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Prior to leaving on this trip, his brother, Lawrence Myers,
- 45:12Speaker 1: had visited him in New York and said that he
- 45:15Speaker 1: would be in Dallas, Texas during the same week. They
- 45:18Speaker 1: made arrangements and met up with each other in Dallas.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Edward Myers left with his wife on November eighth, sixty
- 45:25Speaker 1: three and went to Mexico City. They returned from Mexico
- 45:29Speaker 1: City on the eighteenth of November, four days before the assassination,
- 45:35Speaker 1: via American Airlines whatever.
- 45:38Speaker 3: And I'm sure somebody somewhere, at some point has tried
- 45:40Speaker 3: to tie this in with Oswald's Mexico City trip as well.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a little later, but like a month after.
- 45:49Speaker 1: But why I seen, I mean, were they going there
- 45:52Speaker 1: for the scenery?
- 45:53Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know. Lawrence Myers called his brother Edward,
- 46:01Speaker 1: at a Dolphins Hotel in Dallas, Texas, on the evening
- 46:05Speaker 1: on November twenty first, sixty three, that's the Thursday, to
- 46:09Speaker 1: make arrangements to have dinner together. Edward Myers was unable
- 46:12Speaker 1: to have dinner with his brother, but after a sub
- 46:15Speaker 1: subsequent phone call, he did meet his brother at the
- 46:19Speaker 1: Bon Vivante room of the Cabana Motel about midnight November
- 46:25Speaker 1: twenty first, nineteen sixty three. Myers pointed out that his
- 46:30Speaker 1: reservation at the Dolphins Hotel had previously been made for
- 46:33Speaker 1: him by the Pepsi Cola company. Okay, and there was
- 46:47Speaker 1: just another FBI document. The first one interviewing Lawrence Myers
- 46:54Speaker 1: is pretty vague, but he advised that on November twentieth,
- 46:57Speaker 1: he flew to Dallas, Texas, where the night of November
- 47:00Speaker 1: twentieth he stayed at the Ramato Hotel and checked into
- 47:04Speaker 1: the Cabana Motel. On the morning of November twenty first,
- 47:10Speaker 1: He stated, he pursued his normal business affairs that date,
- 47:15Speaker 1: and in the evening following dinner, he went to Jack
- 47:18Speaker 1: Ruby's Carousel Club. Mister Myers stated that on this trip
- 47:22Speaker 1: to Dallas, he was accompanied by Miss Jean West, who
- 47:29Speaker 1: he had known casually as a resident of Chicago, Illinois.
- 47:35Speaker 1: So this is the first like FBI document. I think
- 47:38Speaker 1: this is a twelve three. It was taken on even
- 47:44Speaker 1: though it was published twelve twelve, so they're being very
- 47:48Speaker 1: kind with her description of Miss jean West. Here. He
- 47:56Speaker 1: described Miss West as a quote rather dumb but accommodating
- 48:02Speaker 1: broad end. That's gold. That is gold. She's dumb, but
- 48:13Speaker 1: she'll do whatever I want. He pointed out that his
- 48:18Speaker 1: association with Miss West is not known to members of
- 48:21Speaker 1: his family Shocker, or his business associates. When he and
- 48:28Speaker 1: Miss West arrived at the Carousel Club, he introduced her
- 48:33Speaker 1: to the owner, Jack Ruby, and Ruby joined them at
- 48:36Speaker 1: their table by Miss West. Two champagne cocktails. He stated
- 48:40Speaker 1: that during the course of their stay at the club
- 48:43Speaker 1: and that evening, the conversation revolved primarily around show personalities,
- 48:48Speaker 1: the acts currently appearing at the club, and other items
- 48:52Speaker 1: of topical interest. He advised that miss West remained at
- 48:56Speaker 1: the Carousel Club for a approximately one hour, returning to
- 49:00Speaker 1: their motel at eleven pm. Mister Myers stated at the
- 49:05Speaker 1: Carousel Club he had invited Ruby to join him at
- 49:09Speaker 1: the Cabana Motel for a drink with him and his brother,
- 49:12Speaker 1: Edward Myers, and Edward's wife. Shortly thereafter, Ruby came to
- 49:18Speaker 1: the motel, where he introduced to his brother and his wife.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Ruby remained at the hotel for only a few minutes
- 49:25Speaker 1: before he left, seeing he had to return to his club,
- 49:28Speaker 1: the Carousel. Yeah, so that's some of the HCA and
- 49:36Speaker 1: the early documents of Lawrence and Edward Myers. And I
- 49:39Speaker 1: know we're going to do a little back and forth here.
- 49:42Speaker 1: You're going to talk about something and then I'll go
- 49:44Speaker 1: back to them in a little bit.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Yes, yes, so let's get into a little examination of
- 49:56Speaker 3: what Jack Ruby was doing the night before the assassination. Okay,
- 50:11Speaker 3: On Thursday, November twenty first, Jack Ruby was attending to
- 50:15Speaker 3: his usual duties as the proprietor of two Dallas night spots.
- 50:20Speaker 3: That would be the Carousel Club and a downtown nightclub
- 50:24Speaker 3: featuring strip or that is, the downtown nightclub featuring strip
- 50:28Speaker 3: teas dancers and the Vegas Club, a rock and roll
- 50:32Speaker 3: establishment in the Oaklawn section of Dallas, which I believe
- 50:38Speaker 3: his sister normally ran, but also Larry Crayford would fill
- 50:45Speaker 3: in when she wasn't there. You know, it's kind of
- 50:49Speaker 3: keeping an eye on things. So on Thursday November twenty first,
- 50:55Speaker 3: nineteen sixty three, according to the FBI report, Jack Ruby
- 51:01Speaker 3: arrived at the Carousel Club around three pm on Thursday afternoon.
- 51:08Speaker 3: As was his custom. He remained long enough to chat
- 51:11Speaker 3: with a friend and received messages from Larry Crayford, who
- 51:15Speaker 3: had taken some phone messages for him. Larry was a
- 51:19Speaker 3: handyman and helper who lived in the Carousel broom closet.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Ruby's evening activities on Thursday November twenty first, we're a
- 51:32Speaker 3: combination of business and pleasure. At approximately seven thirty pm,
- 51:37Speaker 3: he drove Crayford over to the Vegas Club, which Crayford
- 51:41Speaker 3: was overseeing for his sister, Eva Grant. Ruby returned to
- 51:46Speaker 3: the Carousel Club and conversed for about an hour with
- 51:51Speaker 3: Lawrence Myers on the phone between nine forty five and
- 51:53Speaker 3: ten forty five. Then Ruby went and had dinner with
- 51:58Speaker 3: Ralph Paul, his friend and financial backer, at Campez's restaurant.
- 52:05Speaker 3: And I know why I made the Freudian slip earlier.
- 52:09Speaker 3: It was because I think Eddie Meyer's son is named Ralph,
- 52:13Speaker 3: and I saw Ralph Ralph ate dinner with them as
- 52:17Speaker 3: well at the comband Ralph Paul, but Ralph Mike.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Yeah and Rob an our phone conversation between guys, right, Yeah,
- 52:28Speaker 1: it is raises an eyebrow to it.
- 52:36Speaker 3: For sure. So while dining there at Camps's, Ruby spoke
- 52:41Speaker 3: briefly with a Dallas Morning News employee named Don Campbell,
- 52:45Speaker 3: who suggested that they go to the Castaway Club together,
- 52:50Speaker 3: but Ruby declined because he's a very busy man. He
- 52:52Speaker 3: doesn't have time for this shit. Okay. After that, Ruby
- 52:57Speaker 3: returned to the Caroussel Club, where he acted as the
- 52:59Speaker 3: m see for his show and peacefully ejected an unruly
- 53:04Speaker 3: patron get the hell out of here at about midnight.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Just around midnight, Ruby joined his buddy Lawrence Myers at
- 53:16Speaker 3: the Bonne Vivonte, the Good Life Room at the Dallas Cabana,
- 53:21Speaker 3: where they met myers brother and sister in law and son.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Neither Ralph Paul nor Lawrence Myers recalled that Ruby mentioned
- 53:31Speaker 3: the President's trip to Dallas at all in their conversations
- 53:34Speaker 3: with him the night before the assassination. Leaving Myers at
- 53:39Speaker 3: the Cabana after a brief visit, I can only stay
- 53:42Speaker 3: a minute just to have a drink, just to drink
- 53:44Speaker 3: from a very busy man. It's great to see you.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Great to see you. Come by the club anytime. You're welcome.
- 53:49Speaker 3: Here's a cad it's got your name. Uh, get you
- 53:55Speaker 3: in for free. So after leaving the Cabana, Ruby returned
- 54:05Speaker 3: to the Carousel Club to close it down and obtain
- 54:09Speaker 3: the night's receipts. He then went over to the Vegas
- 54:14Speaker 3: Club and helped Larry close for the night, and somewhere
- 54:19Speaker 3: around two thirty in the morning, Jack Ruby took Larry
- 54:25Speaker 3: Crayford to the LUCASB and B Restaurant early in the
- 54:29Speaker 3: morning on Friday, November twenty second to have a very
- 54:34Speaker 3: early breakfast or a very late dinner whatever, you want
- 54:39Speaker 3: to call it, and you are eating in a restaurant
- 54:42Speaker 3: at two thirty in the morning. Okay. This is a
- 54:48Speaker 3: very famous encounter because the Mary Lawrence, the waitress that
- 54:51Speaker 3: the Lucasbnb restaurant, claimed that she saw Jack Ruby and
- 54:57Speaker 3: Lee Harvey Oswald together, but again, as per the usual
- 55:10Speaker 3: mistaken identity here, Larry Crayford, not Lee Oswald. Okay. She
- 55:16Speaker 3: even told the cops, well, if the man I saw
- 55:18Speaker 3: had a scar on the top of his lip, it
- 55:20Speaker 3: was Lee Harvey Oswald. But we all know it was
- 55:23Speaker 3: Larry Crayford that had the scar on his lip. So
- 55:32Speaker 3: let's see. Yeah, Ruby dinnery at Steak at the Egyptian
- 55:39Speaker 3: Lounge was seen by Joe Campeasey from ten to eleven.
- 55:46Speaker 3: I'm just making sure they miss anything here, so let's
- 55:58Speaker 3: get into a little bit of out Jim Brayden.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Yeah, well we rob the before you go on the
- 56:09Speaker 1: Lucas B and B rustaurant, and I didn't have I
- 56:12Speaker 1: didn't have a ton of time to look into this.
- 56:15Speaker 1: I know you gave me the name, but I'm just
- 56:18Speaker 1: I did a quick search and the head waitress there
- 56:21Speaker 1: was Mary Lawrence.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why I said Mary Lawrence.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Related to I'm sorry, related to who uh oh Lawrence Myers.
- 56:38Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Lawrence Lawrence. Okay, I'm sorry.
- 56:42Speaker 3: I'm an endiot. Joe, Sorry, sorry, a little more sleep, sir.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Hey, I'm trying to put connections together, bro.
- 56:53Speaker 3: But maybe she was Jack Lawrence's sister, excused assassin of
- 56:57Speaker 3: the president. Just throwing it out there and Joe's head.
- 57:04Speaker 3: Do you hear who's the Jack Lawrence? I gotta follow
- 57:12Speaker 3: up with it. Do you know who Jack Lawrence is? Joe?
- 57:14Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a uh skufuza from the Was it the
- 57:19Speaker 1: car place?
- 57:22Speaker 3: What car plays?
- 57:26Speaker 1: Was it one of the dealerships? Or is this some
- 57:29Speaker 1: guy in New Orleans? It was one of the two.
- 57:33Speaker 1: Are you eating oreos again? Mm hmm silently mm hmm.
- 57:38Speaker 1: I respect that.
- 57:43Speaker 3: I was hoping you'd have a long answer who Jack
- 57:45Speaker 3: Lawrence is so I could shoot my oria in peace.
- 57:48Speaker 3: But you don't.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Why don't you tell everyone?
- 57:54Speaker 3: Hmm? How about to go listen to the episode? A
- 57:58Speaker 3: number of kidding?
- 58:00Speaker 1: Yeah, No, he was the guy. No, I said the
- 58:02Speaker 1: car thing.
- 58:03Speaker 3: He was the guy who like mercury.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I had the car thing?
- 58:08Speaker 3: Right?
- 58:08Speaker 1: Who Lee Harvey Al'swald allegedly asked to test drive a car.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Not him. Different guy. Jack Lawrence is the guy that
- 58:19Speaker 3: came into it late for work the morning of the
- 58:23Speaker 3: twenty second. In the afternoon, pale as a ghost, white
- 58:27Speaker 3: is a sheet, proceeded to puke in the in the bathroom,
- 58:32Speaker 3: claiming he was sick covered in mud. He left his
- 58:36Speaker 3: his demonstrator behind the grassy no offense, because traffic was
- 58:42Speaker 3: so bad. He decided to leave it there and walk
- 58:45Speaker 3: the rest of the way. But I digress. So maybe
- 58:50Speaker 3: it was Maybe Mary Lawrence is Jack Lawrence's long lost
- 58:53Speaker 3: sister's That's what I was getting at.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I had the first and last names confused. Lawrence, Martin, Morales, Monkey, David.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Who else? Okay, let's see here. So the warrant reporter
- 59:21Speaker 3: refers to Ruby's time at the Cabana as a quote
- 59:24Speaker 3: brief visit. According to Seth Cancer in the book The
- 59:27Speaker 3: Ruby Cover Up in nineteen seventy eight, he reported Ruby
- 59:31Speaker 3: spent only a short time in the bond Vivante room
- 59:34Speaker 3: with Myers, and his movements for the next two hours
- 59:37Speaker 3: are unknown, but at two thirty Ruby telephoned an employee, Crayford,
- 59:42Speaker 3: at his own club and said he was still at
- 59:44Speaker 3: the Cabana. Seth Canter wrote. Ralph Paul said Ruby could
- 59:50Speaker 3: be very secretive about his comings and goings, if you
- 59:54Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. Ruby didn't want his club employees
- 59:56Speaker 3: to know when he slipped out of town or whose
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Betty slipped in and out of in order to keep
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: them from stealing his profits. Paul said he could show
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: up at any time, Joe, that's why he's going back
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: and forth between everywhere in the carousel. Everywhere in the carousel,
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: everywhere in the caunsel, running here, running there. He can
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: show up any time. Don't take my money, checking the receipts.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: But that's interesting. Ruby did slip in and out of
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Cuba on at least three occasions, keeping two of the
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: trips secret even from his friends. He was secretly in
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: Las Vegas for two days the week before the assassination.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: Ruby kept his appearance as at Parkland and at the
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Dallas Police station on Friday and Saturday secret. He concealed
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: the relationships he had with a wide range of people,
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: such as Tom Davis, the gun runner, and such as
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: a mystery telephone voice he dealt with in the days
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: leading up to the shooting. Ruby was getting a series
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: of phone calls at the carousel from an unidentified man
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: who would never leave a message. When Ruby was out
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: with Larry Crayford and Larry asked Ruby about these strange
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: phone calls, but Ruby told him to mind his own
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: goddamn business. According to Mary Ferrell, there is evidence that
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: Ruby left the Cabana and returned sometime during the two
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: hours of missing time during which Ruby was known to
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: have been at the Cabanas. Jack got angry with the
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: Cabana motel employees for not telling him about a telephone
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: call that had come in for him. He searched the
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: records of the bon Vivante room Booth B twenty six
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: for the name They think Joe that it was Martin
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: or Martin's. The Secret Service checked Jack Martin and Layton
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: Martin's out to see if they were the mysterious man
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: who tried to call Jack Ruby at the Cabana. Well, yeah, wild.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: It always comes back to the Martins, and.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: Of course they They speculate here a bit. While neither
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: New Orleans private investigator Jack S Martin, who first implicated
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: Dave Ferry with Lee Harvey Oswald, nor Ferries associate Layton
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: Martins were ever known to have been to Dallas. The
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: mysterious mister Martin could have been in of the Six
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Flags manager James H. Martin or singer Dean Martin that matter.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: What it says Dean Martin on them.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a joke.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Oh it seems it says James H.
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: Though. Huh yeah, huh wow. There was also a you're
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: a Guayan gun dealer named John Martin who also entered
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: the answered anti Castro community at this time. And Ruby
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: also knew a guy named Martin Rob Nightclub.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: That was the guy Rob who we explored during our
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Martin presentation that befriended, befriended Sirita Odio from Uruguay and
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: offered her arms. And this was before the h the
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: audio incident.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Right, well, I'm getting there, okay. Mister Martin could also
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: conceivably be Johnny Martino aka Jack Martin aka Juan Martin,
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: who was in Dallas around that time, but according to
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: his wife, was at home in Florida at the time. Martino, however,
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: could have been trying to reach Ruby by phone as
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: a former Santa Traffic Conte Casino employee, and Johnny Rosselli's
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: roommate Martine was a major player in the CIA mafia
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: Plastic Castro, and according to a Catholic Priests to the
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Social Worker, Martino and a Colonel Philip Castor were stirring
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: up the Dallas anti Castro community. In addition, Martino was
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: associated with Sylvia Odio, who was visited on September twenty fourth,
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: nineteen sixty three, one of whom was named Leon Oswald
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: and the next Marine cracked shot who could kill the
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: President if he wanted to. Ruby's search for mister Martin,
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: who may also be the carousels mysterious Caller, indicates that
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: he was at left and returned to the caband A
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: Loownes that night, just as Beverly Oliver claims, and that
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: he at least tried to meet or talk by phone
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: with mister Martin, someone who is not known to or
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: investigated by the Warren Commission. It has not recorded what
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: Ruby did after he left Meers table at the Command
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: at twelve thirty, but at two thirty am he met
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: up with enjoying Larry Crayford at the Lucasbnb restaurant next
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: door to the Vegas Club, which Crayford had managed and
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: closed that night. Between three point thirty and four in
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: the morning, Ruby dropped Crayford off with the carousel and
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: return home to his apartment, where his lover, George Senator,
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: was already asleep and waiting a bit for him. Uh So,
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: there's a little fokery going on here, folks, if you will.
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: Uh So, let's get that out of the way first.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I don't think Martino was ever a roommate
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: of Rocelli. I think they might have gotten that confused
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: with truffic Conte or well, they weren't in keep in
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Prison together. But I don't know when Martino would have
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: been a rumin of Rocelli.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: But I'm just telling you what the paper says, Joe.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: I have no idea what is real and what is not.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Interesting that they're kind of combining Martin with Martine though, right.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: Well as as we did. M hm. They're just going about, uh,
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: you know, a couple of different ways. Sorry, I'm trying
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: to collect money. Here we go, here we go, trying
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: to get my notes straight here. I got too much
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: chic going on. Okay, now, of course this from the uh,
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: don't put too much stock into it file. Okay, we
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: have some words from Robert Tosh Plumbley and James Files. Okay, now,
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: the only reason I'm reading this is because they said
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: it uh around seven am. And this is from James
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: Files video Confession of an Assassin. Around seven am the
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: morning of November twenty second, I drove to the Dallas
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: Cabana Motel to pick up Johnny Roselli, who was staying there. Next,
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: I drove Roselli to a pancake house just off a
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: major highway in Fort Worth. Inside the pancake house, Rosselli
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: met with Jack Ruby, who gave me five y nine envelope.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: Among other things in the envelope was quote a map
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: in there of the exact motorcade route that it would
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: take through Daly Plaza. Johnny Roselli said, well, they only
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: made one change. That was when Roselli informed me that
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: they were coming off Main Street on to elm Or
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: on to Houston. There they made the zig zag, a
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: little turn that they should never have made.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: That's what when did Files say this?
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: Nineteen and ninety six, And of.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Course what sticks out to me immediately as the Lawrence
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Howard allegations of receiving maps from g ray Gil seems
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: suspiciously similar to that.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: Yeah, of course thirty years later plus yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: I know, Joe. That's why that's why I read it,
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: because he's putting Roselli staying at the Pancake, I'm sorry,
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: staying at the Cabana motel. And according to Tash Plumbley,
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: he's the one that flew Johnny Rosselli to Dallas, so
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: maybe Plumbly. I don't know if he's ever stated that
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: they were staying at the Cabana as part of the
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: aboard team, if you will, I don't know, But again,
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: do with that what she will sticking in the horseshit file.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: I don't think Razilli was staying at the Cabana, but
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: it's interesting. It's funny you mentioned that the Thomas Beckham
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: Lawrence Howard thing joke. Because I was thinking, I was like,
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: I know, Beckham said that he met Lawrence Howard at
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: at at a hotel in Dallas, right, So I'm like,
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: was it? Was it the Cabana? So I went back
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: a little bit and I looked in his HSCA testimony
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: and lo.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: And behold Howard's HSK this morning.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: No, Beckham's okay, Howard, Lawrence Howard was allegedly staying here
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: at the Executive End, another fancy ass motor hotel with
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: a theater okay and a lighted uh fountain in the front. Okay.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: So like if you were there that night at the
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: Black Garter Club and the Executive Inn sounds a little swinky.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: You can see Don the Don Jacobe Orchestra with Linda
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: Lauren as vocalist. So very interesting. They got a coffee
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: shop in there.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: It's like a Mexican restaurant, something del Sol. So uh.
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: You know, these places were not not necessarily a dime
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: a dozen back then, but very similar, very similar. I
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: believe this one was on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Yeah that's a that's a great name, by the way.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: Uh but yeah, it's I feel like right, motel was
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: the motor in like that's what they should call it
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: back in the day. But these places, like the Cabana
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: was not what you would think a motel is today.
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: Only today motels are like shitty things that you can
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: drive right up to, like the door right not where
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: you park in a parking lot and you have to
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: walk in and go up the elevator to your fancy room.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: You know, normally motels are like one level, maybe two
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: levels if they're you know, if they have something like
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: around the pool or something. But yeah, generally they're a
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: little more run down and less fancy than a hotel. Yeah.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: Now when we're talking about Joe, we were talking about
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: David Ferry allegedly calling jene Ace's number. Right I go,
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: The number was w H four dash and four nine
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: seven zero. Now we kind of established and that Garrison
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: was probably trying to reach here a little bit, uh,
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: because he couldn't narrow down who exactly made the call.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: It just he just knew it came from Gray Gill's office.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: It could have been anybody making a call, not just
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: David Ferry. You know, there were there were clients using
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: the phone, there were secretaries using the phone, there was
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: Gil was using the phone.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: It was the same it was the same floor. They
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: were able to narrow it down.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: To yes, and Gil used to get pissed if David
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: Ferry made long distance calls without you know first. So
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: then the thing is Jack Ruby of course had for
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: some reason this whore's number as well that he had called.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: But it was explained away like this, Joe, that it
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: was at certain times when Lawrence Myers visited Jack Ruby
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: at the Carousel Club and he called Jane from there
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: for whatever reason. Allegedly the problem is, we don't know
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: if they were actually calling Jane right because this number,
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: if you called it, it would ring up at the
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: main desk of an apartment building at twenty East Delaware
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: Street in Chicago. Now, Jean As lived in room number
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: fourteen oh five in nineteen sixty three, and there were
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: only about Joe one hundred and forty six apartments in
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: the building in nineteen sixty three. So, uh, if you
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: called the number, you would basically be on the phone
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: with the hotel or the building operator and they would say,
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: what what apartment would you like? And you say fourteen
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: oh five please, and then they would ring the apartment,
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: you know, put you through to that specific apartment. So
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: having this number is nothing sinister. It'd be nice if
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: they had a list of everybody that was living in
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: this apartment building, because maybe there were some more sinister
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: people in there than this dumb broad gene A's as
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: gene as they call me that.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: So this what was it dumb? But accommodating broad mm hm.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: So you know it's kind of hard to I mean,
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: this connection between Fairy and Jane and Ruby is a
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: big stretch. You know, you have at least one hundred
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: and fifty people living in this apartment building. So and
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: there is no clear connection between Jack Ruby and David Ferry,
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: you know, other than g D. Baker says, so, right,
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: which doesn't hold too much water, right, So as gene
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: As didn't meet Jack Ruby until November twenty first, nineteen
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: sixty three, in person anyway. In fact, gene As maintains
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: that she didn't even know Lawrence Myers on September twenty
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: four to sixty three, the day the infamous phone call
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: was made. She says that she and Myers met only
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: a few weeks before the assassination through Delaware Towers Building owner.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: This is the apartment building where she was living. Less Barker.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Hm.
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: So unless everybody here is lying and no one, no
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: one is ever located even a single witness descrap of
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: evidence to prove gene As cannot reasonably be called a
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: link between Fairy and Meyer, as much less Fairy and Ruby.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: So yeah, it's not it's not definitive, but it is interesting.
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: It is interesting. Like I said, I would like I
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: would love to know who else was living in the building, right,
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: you know, being Chicago, there could have been like actual
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: mobsters living in the building, you know, mm hmm, if
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: something with some substance. Yeah, it's true, you know for sure.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Rob Can you cover for me and uh do some
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: comments for like thirty seconds and I'll be right back
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: and I'll go into the rest of my ship.
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: Well, I'm gonna go into Brighton, so you can do
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: what you do, all right. We were okay, I have
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: a great night, all right. So Jim Braiden checked into
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: the Gabana Motel in Dallas on November twenty first, nineteen
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: sixty three. Braiden and his associates had an appointment with
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: oil millionaire H. L. Hunt the next day on November
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: twenty second, but Braiden would miss them, would miss the
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: meeting because there was a small thing that happened in
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: Dallas that day called the assassination of jfk Okay and
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: oh yeah, he got arrested. It just kind of threw
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: a little wrench into things as well. So Jim Braiden
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: was in town on oil business, and he was actually
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: on parole in California, and he had to let his
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: probation officer know what he was doing, and they'd let
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: him leave the state to conduct this business. Right, So
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: off he goes. Now after he is arrested, Jim Braiden,
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: that is coming out of the Dow Text Building. His
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: statement he gave to the Dallas Police says, quote, I
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: am here on business and was walking down Elm Street
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: trying to get a cab, but there wasn't any. I
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: heard people talking saying, my god, the president's been shot.
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: Police cars were passing me down the Triple underpassed, and
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: I was walking up among other people, and this building
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: was surrounded by police officers with guns and we were
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: watching them. I moved up to the building across the
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: street from the building, which was surrounded, and I asked
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: one of the girls there if there was a telephone
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: that I could use. She said, yeah, there's one on
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: the third floor where I work. So I walked through
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: a passage to the elevator where they were getting on
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: and I got off on the third floor of the
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: building with all the other people, and there was a
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: lady using the pay phone and I asked her if
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: I could use it when she hung up, and she
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: said it was out of order, and I tried to
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: use it with no success. I asked her how I
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: can get out of the building, and she said, well,
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: there's an exit right there, and then she said, wait
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: a minute, here's the elevator now. So I got on
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: the elevator and returned to the ground floor and the
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: colored man who ran the elevator said, you're a stranger
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: in this belting son, and I was not supposed to
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: let you up. And he ran outside to an officer
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: and said this to and said to this officer that
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: he had just taken me up and down in the elevator.
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: And the officer said for me to identify myself. So
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: I presented him with a credit card carte blanche. I
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: had a card Joe, and he said, well, we have
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: to check out everything, and took me to his superior
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: and said for me to wait and we will check
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: it out. I was then taken to the Sheriff's office
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: and interrogated. Signed by Jim Braiden formed number eighty six
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: a Sheriff's Department of Voluntary statement which noted not under
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: arrest in quotes. Braiden listed his age's forty nine home
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: address in Los Angeles, California, office at two one five
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: South Lo Sienaca Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California, too.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: And Rob, wasn't there something about his address in New
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: Orleans being really close to Ferry's address?
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: No, I already read that it was. His office in
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: New Orleans was right down the hall from Gray Gills's
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: office in the pair Marquette Building. Okay, had you been
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: listening when I was speaking earlier?
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I was in the bathroom.
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: No. I said it like I'm joking.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: I'm joking. I'm repeating it for the hour.
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: M h.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: M hmmm, mhm. Okay. Now Braden was a piece of ship.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: He was in trouble because he was accused of whining
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: and dining women, builking him out of money and jewelry,
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: and then leaving them in his dust job. Yeah.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: What was that the like mafia boss's daughter or where
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: was that Crayford?
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: That was Crafer? Yeah? Now this this guy, Jim Braden,
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: not a good guy. They said. He was charged with
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: embezzlement for bilking rich widows by marrying them and then
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: taking their money and killing him m uh. The newspapers
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: had branded him and his partner the honeymooners, and both
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: were literally run out of Dallas by Sheriff Bill Decker,
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: whose deputy Lummy Lewis had taken Braiden into country custody
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: coustry custody on Dally Plaza shortly after the assassination. So
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: then they contacted Braden's parole officer and they found out
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: that he was there on supposedly official oil business, and
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: they did have a meeting which included Morgan Brown at
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: hl Hunts Building with Lamar Hunt, which of course did
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: not happen due to all the hullabaloo. After Braiden made
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: a statement in the Dallas authorities released and Braiden went
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: to Houston, checked in with a parole officer there, then
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: went to New Orleans Joe where he shared office space
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: with Oil Gila's Vernon Maine Jr. Right down the hall
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: from g Ray Gil at the Pierre Marquette Building, and
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: Gil served as the attorney for my boss, Carlos Marcelo.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: So of course there's a lot of mafia suppositions that
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: you can make here, but you know, save it, and
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: of course, moving into the Garrison investigation. Garrison wanted this
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: guy badly, trying to extradite him from California to face
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: the music in New Orleans, but never did get him. Hmmm.
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: He was looking to string this guy up as he
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: thought he was in on the I thought he was
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: in on the assassination because he wasn't really honest about
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: his name, right, it wasn't Braden, Okay. He had changed
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: his name because he had he had been in a
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: lot of trouble and uh, his real name was Harry
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: Eugene Bradley. Ah, so that's not good. Uh, from cam
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: to New Jersey. He was originally a salesman.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Not and end Case said this, Actually, he said, Braiden
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: grew up in Camden, New Jersey. What the fuck did
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: he know about oil business?
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: Nothing?
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: He might have known something about hot sauce because Silk
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: City is not far from Camden.
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: So this is this is Braden's mugshot, right. This was
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: taken in what's the date, nineteen forty eight, so this
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: would have been fifteen years before the assassination. That's a mugshot, okay,
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: So he was right a little older. He was born
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: in nineteen fourteen. So he was. He was older at
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: the time. Older dude prayed on half dad grandma's though,
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: so not a good guy. A good guy?
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: Was he a better guy than did for.
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: TVD TVD Yeah, to be determined, they're pretty much on
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: par with each other. So apparently there was a early
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: JFK conference being held in nineteen ninety two by the
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: Third Decade Society at the Newberry Library at the Newberry
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: Live in Chicago on June twenty sixth, nineteen ninety two,
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: So two blocks away from where this was going down
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: happened to be twenty East Delaware Avenue, where gene As lived.
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: On September the twenty fourth, nineteen sixty three, when as
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: telephone records indicator call was received for New Orleans of
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: g Ray Gill. David Ferry worked for Gil on the
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: College Ma Sillar deportation case. For the deportation case at
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: the time, and Gil told New Orleans DA Jim Garrison
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: that he fired Ferry for making so many unauthorized long
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: distance telephone calls on my goddamn phone. As this number
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: was also listed among the records of Warren Commission. Because
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: she was an associate of Jackerbye's friend Lawrence Myers, who
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: traveled from Chicago with her. They met with Ruby at
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: his club and later in the barn of Vivonte, the
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: room at the boy A Motel hotel on the night
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: before the assassination. So the HENCA reports do note that
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: mister a mister Less Barker was her landlord then, and
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: Larry Lawrence Myers admitted to knowing Barker and actually owing
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: him three thousand dollars in regards to a bad stock deal.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Yeah, over thirty thousand.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: Yeah. So by the nineties this place had been turned
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: into a hotel named the Talbot. It was a small,
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: very exquisite place with a quaint sidewalk cafe. It was
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: converted from an apartment building four or five years prior,
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: but the building and business had been in the same
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: family for the past sixty five years. It was now
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: operated by mister Basil Cromlow and it is actually known
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: as twenty East Delaware Place now because you know that
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: sounds a little more fancier than the street or avenue
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: sorry Delaware Place. So Jack Crommelo, Basil's father, who still
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: maintains an office there, was interviewed by a phone. He
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: does not recall gene West or ace As. As for
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: Les Barker, he's dead. You have to dig him up
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: to talk to him, said Cromlo, who also said they
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: have not kept any records from rent receipts, references whatever
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: that could have been used to trace as they're thrown away,
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: burn up or something every ten years, he said. So
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: after sending a report on these efforts to Jerry Rose,
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: he told me that Peter Whitney and Canada had recently
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: located gene As. I love Peter Whipney stuff. I called
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: Peter on Sunday, remember First, nineteen ninety two. He said
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: he obtained her address and phone number from the Minneapolis
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: Joe phone directory, which I checked unsuccessfully in nineteen seventy seven.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: Turns out she was living there with a John T. Martin.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: I'm joking, wouldn't that be amazing?
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: That would that would be lovely?
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: Wow? So this JFK researcher, Peter Whitney, tracked down gene
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: As and he called her and talked to her briefly.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: She confirmed that she was indeed the gene As who
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: was in Dallas at the time of the assassination. I
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: told her I was doing some research and asked her
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: if it would be okay for me to write to
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: her and ask her some questions. Because I had her
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: on the phone. I tried to ask her a couple
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: of things, like why she used the alias of gene West,
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: and she said luck. I refused to answer any questions
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: on the phone, but I'll be glad to get a
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: letter from you in right back. Sorry, that was my
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: horror voice of six years smoking camel filtered. According to Whitney,
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: his initial conversation with her, gene As asked him a question.
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: She asked me if Larry Myers was still alive. He
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: had a great cock. No, so she must still be
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: a little apprehensive, even after all these years. To speak,
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: he would be eighty two if he was still alive,
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: and I told her I wasn't sure, but I doubted
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: it with me then. Originally wanted to meet with ace
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: As on his way to the Chicago conference in April
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: ninety three, but decided to visit her on the return trip.
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: He says. When I arrived in Minneapolis, I gave her
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: a call, got a busy signal, and on the assumption
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: she was home, I took a local bus to her
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: apartment only a ten minute bride and a poor looking neighborhood.
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: Her name was listed on the front of the building,
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: where when I buzzed, I continued to get a busy signal.
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: While the phone line was busy, no one answered the door.
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: I decided shit, I better leave, after noticing a warning
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: on the window that all visitors had to be checked
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: by security and the trespassers would be arrested. It turned
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: out that someone in the building on the floor below Jeans,
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: had been murdered earlier in the year, so Whitney called
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: her again after he arrived home. She sounded somewhat disappointed
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: that I hadn't been able to get a hold of her.
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: She also told me that she'd hired her lawyer to
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: represent her in regard to future interviews, and she was
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: charging a measley two thousand dollars per interview. Joe a
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: lady's got a charge I later quoted three thousand dollars
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: minimum by the lawyer, because of course he had to
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: get his cut. So I wrote to the lawyer and
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: got a proper ply, but was unable to ascertain what
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: kind of pertinent information that she had that was worth
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: three thousand dollars to me. So. In early nineteen ninety three,
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: Peter Whitmey wrote a letter to money bags Anthony Summers,
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: in which he mentioned that she would talk for three
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: thousand dollars. Maybe you could go talk to her. You
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: just spent you three thousand, and I'll tell you where
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: she is and so. At the time, Summers was working
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: as a consultant for the PBS Frontline special and whipmy
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: was encouraged that he could arrange for As to be
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: interviewed for the program. Frontline was unwilling, though, to pay
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: the three thousand dollars for an interview, but the program's
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: director requested writer researcher Gus Russo contact As to see
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: if she had two say anything of interest. So, yes, Timothy,
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: you heard that correct. Russo contacted As as lawyer writing
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: on a front Line letterhead, and after furnish him a
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: death certificate for Laurence Myers to assure her that he
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: was now dead, he managed to obtain an interview with her.
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: According to gus Russo, gene Ass has never heard of
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: David Ferry and was quite perplexed by the nature of
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: the questions. She does not recall any phone call from
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: New Orleans on September twenty fourth, sixty three, although she
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: did say the call may have been for Myers, but again,
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: I don't think these people were understanding that you call
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: the building, you get the building, and then you ask
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: for an apartment number out of one hundred and forty,
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: so you know. Uh. She also said that her contact
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: with Jack Ruby on the night before the assassination was
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: strictly social, So strictly social, of course, and that there
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: was no conversation about any plans to kill Kennedy, No, sir,
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: no how, no way, nor did she know of any
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: contact Myers may have had with Ferry or g rag Gill.
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: None of this interview was used in the front Line
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: November nineteen ninety three documentary, which dealt strictly with the
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: life of Lee Harvey Oswald, but Peter Whitney spoke with
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: Gene as again quote. It is interesting to note that
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: she appeared to become more relaxed about talking on the
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: phone after learning that Myers is dead. I learned from
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: Jane that she did not know that Kennedy was to
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: visit Dallas while she was there, and that she was
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: in the hotel room during the motorcade she does not
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: recall anyone named Joyce McDonald, Ruby's employee who testified that
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: she took as a shopping. Amazingly, she's never read any
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: book on the subject and was quite shocked to learn
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: how many books referred to her specifically. She also had
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: never read the FBI docu was in the Warren volumes,
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: and was insulted at Meer's reference to her as being
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: a dumb but accommodating broad Uh yeah, well you know, yeah,
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: what's yeah?
- 1:36:26Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, And I have Joyce McDonald's FBI testimony from
- 1:36:35Speaker 7: early December after.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: So did did she take Gene a shopping? Is that
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: what she said? Uh?
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: So?
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: From what I read, they were supposed to go shopping
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: on Saturday or Sunday, but of course that got delayed
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: because of the obvious drama going online weekend. I have
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: it after you're done. I have it a cute up here.
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: So good, good, good, all right, So, Joe, I'm gonna
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: kick it back to you, Okay, So we're gonna wrap
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: this sum bitch up in a nice, neat little bow
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: for everybody.
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: Sure, And I will be quick about it, or will
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: try to be so, uh gene ass or I'll say
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: aa s S was actually a commissioned exhibit twenty two
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: sixty six.
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: I say you say A.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: I say, yeah, Yeah, I don't.
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: That's probably wrong as hell. Yeah.
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we're only a little less wrong than you.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll never go.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: Ur say I'm saying like Danny I say. Stated that
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: on Thursday and every twenty first, she and mister Myers
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: had dinner and then asked if she would care to
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: meet a friend of his who and this is an
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: FBI document I believe twelve to two, then went at
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: the Carousel Club to meet Jack Ruby. On a arriving
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: to the club, Myers introduced her to Ruby, and the
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: three of them sat at a table near the doorway
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: and chatted. She advised they stayed at the Cabana Hotel motel.
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: She estimated this to be approximately eleven PM. Shortly thereafter
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: Ruby joined this joined the party at the Cabana Hotel,
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: where he stayed for quote a few minutes end quote,
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: and then departed, saying he had to return to his club.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: During this period, she said, there was no discussion of
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: the presidents, just like you said, they were up assassination.
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: She stated that they stayed in Dallas until Monday night,
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: November twenty fifth, and at which time they returned to Chicago,
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: and she advised she did not see Ruby again during
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: this stay. She stated her contact with Ruby was limited
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: to this one occasion and she is unable to furnish
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: any information regarding him other than he introduced her as
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: the owner of the Carousel Club. Then you have commissioned
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: document to six', eight which Is Edward MYERS'S fbi, document
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: AND i Believe december, second sixty, three we've already gone
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: over pretty much what was said in, that but Interesting
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: Rob Joyce lee. McDonald so they're interviewing the tripper here
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: Of ruby AND i forgot her name.
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: EXACTLY i think it Was Joey, Dale, YEAH i think.
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: So AND i think she Was Harry olsen's. Girlfriend oh
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: yeah she. Was, yeah that was. One had like a
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: two and a half hour conversation With ruby in the
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: vehicle like the night Of february twenty.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: Second, yeah As ruby was freaking out that he had
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: to yeah this he.
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: Had to, do Bang.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: Joe, yeah de lifing mission that you're not coming back.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: From sometime Around october ten to sixty, Three miss McDonald
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: was employed as a part time basis By Robert craven.
- 1:40:55Speaker 8: Blah blah, blah and they go into all this stuff
- 1:41:01Speaker 8: about a check that was bounced for one hundred, dollars
- 1:41:05Speaker 8: which is like a.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Grand and about the time That ruby cash's, Check miss
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: McDonald Met Miss, lawrence Mister Lawrence myers From chicago at
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: The Carrosco club during one of these one of the
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: one of several evenings that McDonald Saw myers at the.
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: Club she had several drinks with him and was told
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: By myers that he had business interests In, Chicago, Minieneapolis,
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: minnie And Las, Vegas, nevada and that headquarters was In.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: Chicago miss McDonald did not know the relationship Between ruby And,
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: myers but felt that they had known each other only.
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: Casually and again this is an EARLY fbi. Report one

- 1:42:08Speaker 1: signed To Lawrence myers and the amount of two hundred
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: dollars close to about two grand made payable To Jack,
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: ruby drawn on an Unknown chicago Bank chicago bank rob
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: WHICH i think is. Important this check was to Assist
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: craven and McDonald in operating the show the. Fairgrounds blah blah.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: Blah miss McDonald cannot Explain myers's motive in giving her
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: the two hundred dollars, check and indicated That myers had
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: never made any improper advances to, McDonald but she felt
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: he would no doubt make some type of request of
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: her in the. Future so he's not talking about a sexual.
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: Quest he's talking about a financial, quest it seems to.
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: Me or he's just covering his ass because we Know
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: Jack ruby did this kind of thing with his. Dancers
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: he would hoore them out on the. Side so, yeah,

- 1:43:56Speaker 1: Holt that would be. Funny, yeah but she was staying
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: in The Habana hotel room on a couple of days

- 1:53:00Speaker 1: Yeah so ten minutes after, That Morgan, brown who you
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: had touched, on checked out of The cabano hotel suite
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: he had shared With Jim, braden who was being integrated

- 1:56:12Speaker 1: Right friendly to the, cause or you can cover things
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: up on and that's what that's where that kind of
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: goes with for. Me AND i haven't done enough research
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: to really be like confident on, it but you, know
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: you Have Ralph, paul you Have Lawrence. Myers and Although
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: Laurence myers wasn't technically connected with the, mob when you
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: look at all the documents we talked, about it would
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: be hard to imagine the scenario where he wasn't in
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: some way.
- 1:56:47Speaker 3: Connected you, know he did the Whole Jack ruby maneuver
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: of changing his Highly jewish name to something a little

- 1:57:23Speaker 1: of hotel where you have some some type of control
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: over we could get out, right it makes some.
