- 0:00So what have you been up to this week?
- 0:21Oh, which part of me week? Do you want to know about the fact that I was riding a rodeo bull?
- 0:28A rodeo bull? Yeah, I had to go one of them, build a night.
- 0:32A charity event for friends of ours.
- 0:38You can't even remember the event. I can't even remember where it was.
- 0:42All of a sudden, see when he's talking. It's the fast show on the guy going, I drank very, very much.
- 0:49I did drink probably too much. And I got to dress up like a cowboy.
- 0:54Very, very drunk. How long did you last on the bull?
- 0:59First go, 24 seconds, and me second go, 60 something, but I think I've pulled me growing.
- 1:06I used to do it any exercise these days. Oh my god. Why do you have to stay on them?
- 1:12Oh, you've got injured riding a bull.
- 1:15I mean, when you say it like that, it does sound strange, but I think I've got tight growing as well.
- 1:22I've got to, I've got to try and get through a bit of football on the picture.
- 1:28Il Dickinson tomorrow. I'm playing football at the hill.
- 1:31I'm not kicked a bull for about 80 months and I'm not played properly for above five or six years.
- 1:38Tell me you've got your proper boots.
- 1:40Yeah, I was in the loft this morning, getting them out.
- 1:43Don't you play normal boots out? You're going to be out of action for the month?
- 1:46No, yeah, I've got me to be honest.
- 1:48It's hard as cardboard. I don't want to have to soak them tonight to try it.
- 1:53When I've tried to play five years ago, about 80 months ago, I just kept pulling my calves after 10 minutes.
- 1:59I'm a bit concerned about that tomorrow, especially now I'm growing.
- 2:02I've already got down in the middle of the park. Ask, receive the pillow roll and give.
- 2:07Yeah, there'll be a lot of walking from me tomorrow.
- 2:10Someone's a slot football, walking football.
- 2:13There it is. Right in early with that one.
- 2:17Did you watch the match over the weekend?
- 2:19I didn't actually see it. I was working.
- 2:21So we made some furious and the physio this morning is just throwing them down the bank.
- 2:27It's a season to get older for the pool, me physio.
- 2:29So I'm with the Monday Wednesday for that.
- 2:31So listen to his mountain to be honest and I just keep saying to me that I don't want to know.
- 2:34I don't want to know it because I don't have a mountain now.
- 2:37When you know what I've been through for the last 30, three years, don't don't annoy me.
- 2:44So, but he's winging walking football. He's furious.
- 2:47He just wants them out and really?
- 2:49Yeah, that's what he's saying. Like how flat you fans generally support their manager until.
- 2:54Yeah, until they give up. So he actually he said he's been saying this since last season,
- 2:59because I said you were in time when he was winning everything last season.
- 3:02He's with all screaming. He's the next man. He's the big thing.
- 3:05And then where he's claiming that even last season he said the football was quite evidence.
- 3:10It was it was lacking then slow football.
- 3:12I don't know. I don't watch them enough.
- 3:14Well, yesterday was probably a decorative of their old season.
- 3:17The was so far off the pace in the first half.
- 3:20It was so easy for me. It was a really good game of football for the neutral.
- 3:23Manchester United played pretty good in the first half.
- 3:27Attacked really well.
- 3:29Looked good on the counter. Tatlina Pull was slow.
- 3:32Didn't progress the ball. Didn't create chances.
- 3:35But then somehow, man, you know, it came out literally.
- 3:38Shot themselves in the foot at the start of the second half gave two goals away.
- 3:42And the second one, top of giving away. Keeper tried to pass it out.
- 3:45Really lost the ball and suddenly Liverpool were two two.
- 3:48And you actually thought for about 10 minutes, Liverpool go on and win the game.
- 3:51But yet they're not they're not the team of old.
- 3:55A Jürgen Klopp team would have ended up with five two.
- 3:59They had a took control of that game, even after a disaster to pass off.
- 4:03I've gone on and really steam roller, but this Liverpool team at the moment.
- 4:08I haven't really got that. They're quite technical rather than anything else.
- 4:12And Manchester United got the game back in.
- 4:15And one, as I said, it was a good game. Good win and goal.
- 4:18I didn't see the win and goal. I've seen the man who finished very good finish.
- 4:21It's good for him as well. It's good for season.
- 4:23He's at the story behind him.
- 4:25It's come back in the team score goal like that.
- 4:27Yeah. How was it?
- 4:29You know when you're sorry.
- 4:31You know someone like him who's kind of exploded onto the scene.
- 4:35And he's massive straight away and he's just a young player.
- 4:38How hard is it when a manager comes in and just isn't having him?
- 4:42I don't know.
- 4:43I limped onto the scene.
- 4:44Didn't I?
- 4:45You played that hundreds of games.
- 4:47You've been in amongst players where one minute of manage is having the next minute or not.
- 4:51And you've had managers.
- 4:53I'm sure over the years where one's having your ones not.
- 4:56It's not easy.
- 4:58How'd you change it?
- 5:00How'd you change it? How'd you swing them?
- 5:02Just by working hard, getting your head down and training and helping that you show it in training.
- 5:07Your attitude is good all the time.
- 5:09You do everything that you're asked to.
- 5:10Or sometimes even that's not enough.
- 5:11Sometimes even that is.
- 5:13You go in and speak.
- 5:14You go in and have the conversation and find out where you're on.
- 5:20Sometimes the best thing is the manager turned around and says I don't want you.
- 5:24That doesn't string you because then you're not getting strong along.
- 5:26You actually know, well, this isn't the club for me.
- 5:29But with Kobe who was going to say before I've met his dad and his brother on a social event at Tony,
- 5:36you love it when I meet people.
- 5:37Of course.
- 5:38Of course.
- 5:39Always.
- 5:40Nice people.
- 5:41So much enthusiasm for his success.
- 5:44He's done brilliantly to get in the team.
- 5:47He is a really good player.
- 5:49Are you all united through and through?
- 5:51Yeah.
- 5:52And he's been patient.
- 5:54And what kind of happens nowadays, which has happened with with Kobe is players can out last
- 6:01a manager quite called the way if things don't go well.
- 6:04Do the player can just think well, I know.
- 6:06I'll just wait it out.
- 6:08Sometimes which is even the worst you could.
- 6:10I'm certainly not suggesting Kobe made it did this, but a player could try and make things as difficult as possible.
- 6:18Yeah, not just sitting there in the background and trying to be in the team and trying to be a good character.
- 6:22They can actually create problems at home that it actually gets rid of the manager and then.
- 6:26We're catches fire with other players you want to infect the squad kind of thing.
- 6:30And I've seen that over the years.
- 6:32I mean, I wouldn't go as far as saying infect the squad, but I've seen even at our place when a manager's lost players and.
- 6:39And certain collection groups navigate towards each other and you see a kind of one or two times spread it to be honest.
- 6:46It's not nice to say, but if it's football now, I think play a power is at an all time high.
- 6:52And I just think the power needs to be restored to managers if I'm being totally honest.
- 6:57Would you give Carrick the job?
- 6:59Yeah, I would.
- 7:02I think he's done a better job than anyone else could have done coming in.
- 7:05I think I would as one because as you said, he understands the club.
- 7:09He's done a really good job.
- 7:10I don't see a standout candidate that I'm looking and thinking, well, you're going to say what other options are there?
- 7:15There's a couple out there, but I think he's I think he's done OK.
- 7:20I think the big thing that Manchester United have got to get the head round is they've done this this season with only without any European football.
- 7:30Yeah.
- 7:31They've set up to play two or three times.
- 7:33I don't think they've got a big enough squad to do that at the minute.
- 7:37They'd have to invest.
- 7:38I think they read because if Spares or Westam go, I think you're going to look at the elite players because I don't care who you are.
- 7:45They've got them.
- 7:46Shadowbone is a top level player.
- 7:48Van the Ven is a top level player.
- 7:50Look, Van the Ven though.
- 7:51Yeah.
- 7:52He does look.
- 7:53It's horrible, but I think Spares will be OK now, though.
- 7:56I think that good was all for them.
- 7:59Yeah.
- 8:00I think the first win that you needed to get.
- 8:02They just needed to get one win, didn't they?
- 8:04They got it against Wolves.
- 8:05You still wanted to see them go laughing.
- 8:06Thought it was dead funny.
- 8:07I know.
- 8:08No, that's not what we were saying.
- 8:10I was saying it.
- 8:11It's horrible.
- 8:12It's the thought of that stadium being in the championship is a horrible thought.
- 8:18Yeah.
- 8:19But it's not the stadium.
- 8:21Did you find the phone?
- 8:22I don't know.
- 8:23The fact that you talked about the stadium.
- 8:25It's the name.
- 8:26It's the club.
- 8:27It's a match of who they are.
- 8:29That would be the difficult thing.
- 8:32If you look at this good thing, the players that haven't really played cool is Evsky Madison,
- 8:37can't even.
- 8:38Of any of these ones haven't even been playing pretty much the majority of the season.
- 8:43They've got Simmons is out at the minute.
- 8:45They've got such a good squad of players, that actually if they are OK,
- 8:51which you'd expect them to be from from this point of think.
- 8:55They'll be fine.
- 8:56They'll actually be writing it at the top of the table probably now.
- 8:58My mates passed a comment to me last night and he said to me,
- 9:01you should want them to go.
- 9:03He said, regardless of who you mate to, or his spares,
- 9:05fans to all of these things, and I said, why should I want them to go?
- 9:06He said, because if they survive, he said, they're going to take a place in
- 9:10your next season.
- 9:11And it's probably, it could be at the cost of your luck.
- 9:13He said, and also if they go, your club should be raiding their players and
- 9:18taking some of their squad to make yours better.
- 9:20And I get what they're saying.
- 9:21I'd agree with them.
- 9:22And yeah, and not the art and their honorable cup, I'd say it by the way,
- 9:25absolutely hard.
- 9:26Yeah, Chris Walker, I mean, he's the lead journalist for the zone.
- 9:29He's a horrible man.
- 9:31I mean, he's woke up at 7 o'clock, well, 6 o'clock this morning.
- 9:35And the first picture he's put on, on me, feed in the group that we have
- 9:39called the establishment is a Manchester City flag waving strongly.
- 9:43You know, he absolutely despises Arsenal with all of his might.
- 9:47And he just wants to see absolute catastrophic things happen to the Premier League.
- 9:50He wants to see spares go and he wants to see city beat Arsenal to the league.
- 9:54But he does make very valid points when it comes to football.
- 9:57He is rarely priced.
- 9:57And he's like a bit of football history, strange boys, to be honest.
- 10:02I've given you enough pop now, mate.
- 10:03That's enough.
- 10:04But I do see the points.
- 10:06Did you get paid for that?
- 10:08No, I didn't get paid.
- 10:09Yeah, I just wanted to give him a rather, he's just, I've grown,
- 10:12since he was 10 or 11 years old.
- 10:14And yeah, he's just, he's just, he knows so much the way though.
- 10:19Don't you think the sun's going to be said about the story, Lanif football,
- 10:22where I've been like quite predictable in recent years.
- 10:24There's not just create something different for people to talk about.
- 10:27The team like spares go down, but it just, it shows it.
- 10:30Not less than winning the league.
- 10:31If I'm being totally honest, if spares go in my tiny little mind,
- 10:37it makes me believe that we can go.
- 10:40Because I don't believe ever.
- 10:41You can go, no, it does.
- 10:42That's what frightens me the most.
- 10:43If they go, I know it's, I know it's possible we can go.
- 10:46We're in a much better place now.
- 10:48We are.
- 10:49I was worried for a few years about us.
- 10:51But because Villa went to Austin, Villa should have been that club that we had to go.
- 10:56Wow.
- 10:57You know, big clubs can go to Villa, a big club.
- 10:59Yeah, huge.
- 11:00Talk about huge club.
- 11:01So Villa can go and, and to be honest, Newcastle have been down a couple of times.
- 11:05And for both of them, it actually saved them well to go down because they were really struggling.
- 11:09They were in tough places.
- 11:10It's, it seemed easier for both of them to go down into the championship.
- 11:14And it's sort of rebuild and come back up to that.
- 11:17It's enforced of another two leads and forest took a lot longer though.
- 11:20They were 20 or years plus each, but put big clubs, no one wants that.
- 11:25No, but they are big clubs with huge fan bases.
- 11:28So he's right.
- 11:29But I just think I feel like Spares have been around for so long.
- 11:33I know in Villa went, it was a bit of a shock, but Spares, it's like a spares like
- 11:39our second team.
- 11:40No, I don't have a second team.
- 11:41I eat them all.
- 11:42They're all all able.
- 11:43Everyone besides Evans, heartable.
- 11:44But at your staff, I have,
- 11:48not a fun.
- 11:49I just feel sorry for the fans because we would be there and that's the part that it's me.
- 11:55The most, I think, oh, I was thinking about the Bournemouth game and that what was the game?
- 12:01Where Duke scores the goal?
- 12:04That was Bournemouth's Bournemouth's Bournemouth, where he scores that important goal.
- 12:07And I just think Spares against those last game of the season.
- 12:11It looks like a different game for us now because obviously we have to win.
- 12:15We've got ourselves into it into a tougher situation than we would have liked because we were
- 12:21looking at the real possibility of your next season and that drawing against Brentford
- 12:27losing to Liverpool, losing to West Ham.
- 12:30That's a bad run at the wrong time.
- 12:34She disgusted by that decision at the West Ham one I was.
- 12:36I was furious.
- 12:38I mean, there's a player playing basketball in the box and no one's on and up.
- 12:42And here's the best part, they don't even give a corner.
- 12:45Do you give a goal kick?
- 12:46That should have been the main reason that VAR could have got involved in that because the referee
- 12:52obviously didn't see it if he'd give a corner.
- 12:54It's not like he saw it and sorry if he'd give a goal kick.
- 12:56It's not like he saw it and then decided it wasn't enough.
- 13:00He clearly didn't see it if a goal kick was given.
- 13:02So I think we'd all agree that that's got to be a penalty.
- 13:06Should have been a penalty, which also brings me back to that humble yesterday that
- 13:12Cess goes good.
- 13:14I don't even think he touched it, but I haven't seen all the angles.
- 13:17But did he definitely touch it?
- 13:19I think now I think as he did touch it with his hand.
- 13:24But it just I think it took me probably 10, 10 or 15 times of watching that video
- 13:30to from the different angles to finally make me mind.
- 13:33They've got long enough.
- 13:34But no, they've got the on the on field officials can never see that.
- 13:39I know that.
- 13:39But I just think in the time that they were given, I think it's inconclusive.
- 13:46I think they can't look at it forever.
- 13:48They can't just keep on looking at what our ones are cast as we didn't get it.
- 13:51Yeah, I agree with that.
- 13:53I was a stone wall.
- 13:54You see him playing basketball.
- 13:55I mean, he's balanced and balls on his fingers.
- 13:57And that would have made a difference in the game.
- 13:59I think we have a bit more momentum at that.
- 14:01But I know we did equalize, but we equalize late with them then having to throw the
- 14:05kitchen sink kind of to get something and the game may have got a bit differently for
- 14:10that one.
- 14:11So that was that was disappointing, because even when we would come away with a point
- 14:13that might have been that might have been a decent point at the end of the season.
- 14:17But now we've just got to try and get something in city, which is is an easy with the way
- 14:22they're playing at the moment.
- 14:23But hopefully better.
- 14:24Always back.
- 14:25Yeah.
- 14:26I've done one friend of the past doesn't the minute.
- 14:27We are the kind of team that can lose to us down the beat man city.
- 14:31Yeah.
- 14:32You both go on the game.
- 14:33Nice.
- 14:34And that was a bit shit in the woods.
- 14:36Yes.
- 14:37We, and I'm not working actually.
- 14:39Oh nice.
- 14:40Yeah.
- 14:41I'm not working.
- 14:42Okay.
- 14:43He doke.
- 14:44Yeah.
- 14:45Hopefully we meet nop after the game and have a little bit of a party.
- 14:47Hopefully.
- 14:48I think it's celebrating.
- 14:49So I'm not going to have a drink though.
- 14:50Why is that?
- 14:51Got me big game.
- 14:52Elle Dickinson tomorrow.
- 14:53I'll get it.
- 14:54I'll get you a 10 minutes.
- 14:55I'll get it.
- 14:56I'll get it.
- 14:57You know, get it.
- 14:58I'll get it.
- 14:59I'll get it.
- 15:00I'll get it.
- 15:02He can come and buy me eyes on it.
- 15:04So so the other bit of a theme of being the world's worst fortune teller.
- 15:07What you think the score is going to be tonight.
- 15:10And then we'll just go with exactly the opposite of what you said.
- 15:11Yeah.
- 15:12I mean, that's the best way to do to be fair.
- 15:14Yeah.
- 15:15I'm over two, one of it.
- 15:19I don't know why and I've got a mug, a shock to the title.
- 15:22Yeah.
- 15:23No idea why I just think.
- 15:24I think I'm not going to score first.
- 15:26I think city equaliser and then I think it'll be just.
- 15:29I think we're going to really try to disrupt their rhythm and play tonight.
- 15:33I don't think we're going to want to play football against one.
- 15:34No one can't play football against them, let's be honest.
- 15:37But I just think I think we are snatching any goal and then it's going to be a bit of a fight.
- 15:42And I'm not sure they're up for the fight.
- 15:45Oz?
- 15:46Um, one, one.
- 15:48I'm going to go for, and I think that'll be a good point for us.
- 15:51Have a year, I think.
- 15:52Uh, what does that do to the title ace?
- 15:56Puts it back in Arsenal's hands.
- 15:59But they're in Europe, I think that's got such a big part of life.
- 16:02Maybe, but it puts it back in in Arsenal's hands.
- 16:05But again, I think Arsenal will probably draw a game between now and the under the season.
- 16:09I think I've said this, this previous, I think there will be points to be,
- 16:14to be dropped along the way.
- 16:15Maybe this is the biggest hurdle for Man City,
- 16:19where you're our place under the lights, which traditionally we've been,
- 16:23we've been pretty good, but could feel about ourselves.
- 16:26We are organised, we know what we're doing.
- 16:28Defensively, we'll be able to play deep and play in the counterattack.
- 16:32So hopefully it suits us, and I probably think the first goal has to be ours.
- 16:38Is there a Champions League second one on Wednesday?
- 16:40Yeah, I've asked about two days.
- 16:43Is that a way or two?
- 16:45It's a home now, isn't it?
- 16:47Who's Arsenal's?
- 16:47Yeah, Arsenal.
- 16:48No, no, I'm talking about cities.
- 16:50Oh, cities, yeah, I've got a city, I've got a city, I've got two Arsenal's.
- 16:53Yeah, yeah.
- 16:53Okay.
- 16:54Do you think I was going to ask you about this?
- 16:56Do you think if a team does well in a cup run and then they're still in a title race or a relegation battle?
- 17:00Does it distract them or does it actually spare them on?
- 17:04I think had Arsenal won the Carabell Cup Final,
- 17:08regained to Manchester City, I think they would have spared them on massively.
- 17:12I think they would have just rode the waves, you know, the crest of the waves, and
- 17:17and actually probably been in a better position for the title.
- 17:20I don't think they'd had dropped points.
- 17:21I think they'd have been looking at each competition,
- 17:24thinking we can win it all.
- 17:25I just think in the back of their mind now,
- 17:28although I was, I think I disagreed with Tony a bit about the European competition in the last
- 17:32pod, saying he was saying it was a distraction.
- 17:35I was saying it was a good thing because
- 17:37leading up into that city game, because it just took their focus for three days on another big
- 17:42game, rather than all the talk being about city.
- 17:46And I think that again, I think they need those games every every three or four days,
- 17:50I think, because it stops them having a whole week of thinking about what the potential is,
- 17:55and what could probably go wrong at the minute, because, as I said, they've two other things.
- 18:00They had four things, potentially, in their grasp, and two of them have slipped out,
- 18:05and they might, it's not easy, especially if they're, even if they beat Atlético,
- 18:11they've still probably got, well, one of the best teams in the world at the moment,
- 18:16and the other two in the final, which are better still alive as we record this,
- 18:21but your teams won one goal ahead, PSG.
- 18:25Yes, we're going to come up against one of those two, and it's just think our null
- 18:29could potentially come away with nothing.
- 18:31And actually, the worst thing could be that city could end up with a trouble,
- 18:34and ask them to be in in the position or season could win.
- 18:38And I just think, then that'll be in the back of the mind.
- 18:40I think the game every few days is good for them.
- 18:43Water game, Buying and PSG was, by the way.
- 18:45Unreal.
- 18:46Obviously, the game that goes along too.
- 18:48And again, this is, I think we're recording this before,
- 18:51before that game, and before, so when the puck comes out,
- 18:54that game will have been played, won it?
- 18:55Yeah, it will.
- 18:56Which might look, make those looks stupid one way or the other,
- 19:00but that first game was one of the best, that I've witnessed.
- 19:04And to hear Vincent Company's interview after the game,
- 19:08to say, when they were questioned in his team's defending,
- 19:12and he said something similar to,
- 19:15well, their attack is outstanding.
- 19:16Our attack is outstanding.
- 19:19We'd have to commit fully to defending,
- 19:21and we're not going to do that.
- 19:22So we'll just commit fully to attacking.
- 19:24And he said, we're going to defend more.
- 19:25No, it's going to be even more.
- 19:27We're going to do even more in the home,
- 19:28like, I think I will be watching that.
- 19:30Wow.
- 19:31It's football, isn't it?
- 19:33I don't want to sound a bit nostalgic,
- 19:35another old managed book.
- 19:37It's how it used to be.
- 19:38Team's just going for it.
- 19:40It's a basketball game.
- 19:41We love to do you.
- 19:42But we're going to score you Kevin Keegan days,
- 19:44Newcastle 4-3s, 5-4s.
- 19:47You just, you just, it's all all to attack.
- 19:48That's it.
- 19:49Yeah, it was just along the lines of,
- 19:52we're going to, for instance,
- 19:54buy and push both of our full backs up to join the attack.
- 19:58And the, the brave thing is from both teams,
- 20:00they both left people, players up.
- 20:02So PSG left two players up and didn't need them to defend
- 20:05against Bayern's best defense.
- 20:07So that meant they were 2v2 in the counterattack and the same.
- 20:10Both ways they were happy to just,
- 20:12it used to be like that eights ago,
- 20:13because people used to, what we used to call,
- 20:14cheat, goal hang, stay up there.
- 20:16And hopefully we'll kick the ball to,
- 20:17and you can, you know, you can make something work.
- 20:19But football's got so much into,
- 20:21everybody's got to get back behind the ball.
- 20:23Everybody's got to contribute to defending.
- 20:26But if you've got some of the best players,
- 20:27and you can let them, you know, goal hang.
- 20:29It's hang on the halfway line.
- 20:31And then if the opposition leave you 3v2,
- 20:33what?
- 20:34Right hand off and it makes,
- 20:35makes for a brilliant game of football though.
- 20:37Good opinion.
- 20:38It could have been eight all.
- 20:40It was that kind of game.
- 20:41It was, it was brilliant.
- 20:42The pace out of them wingers, either side,
- 20:44either team is frightening.
- 20:45The way they get at them, each other,
- 20:47it's just, it's just off the scale.
- 20:49Really really is.
- 20:51And then I wouldn't mind,
- 20:52the defenders are actually very good players as well.
- 20:55Mm-hmm.
- 20:55You know, open mechanics are quality.
- 20:57Defender and player.
- 20:58They're all defenders that are trusted to defend 1v1,
- 21:02which means that that's where their team
- 21:05get the benefit of going up the other end of the pitch.
- 21:08Not everyone in the Premier League will allow their center
- 21:10half to defend 1v1.
- 21:11They always want extra member.
- 21:12But if you trust your defenders enough,
- 21:14you get an advantage of the top end.
- 21:16The problem is you trust your defenders
- 21:18against the best.
- 21:20And you're not giving them any help.
- 21:22Makes for a great game.
- 21:23Oh, I think, I think the other thing is,
- 21:25you're happy with a 1v1.
- 21:26But when the midfield is starting,
- 21:28and you're getting 2v1s all the time,
- 21:30and it's the knock on the run,
- 21:31and he can't cover two.
- 21:32And the midfield is running into to create that space.
- 21:36As I said, it's a feel for ball now.
- 21:39It's just a big game of let's create a situation
- 21:41where there's 2v1 or 3v1.
- 21:42It's a quite, that's what they're doing all the time.
- 21:44Every team looks to do it.
- 21:46Spread the ball wide, create a 2v1, one side.
- 21:48Yeah, and it's a little bit predictable.
- 21:50Where is that game?
- 21:52Did we just add each other?
- 21:53There was no like real set ways of playing.
- 21:55It was just we're going to attack.
- 21:56We're going to go for it.
- 21:57And it was the same.
- 21:59So I know what I'm doing tonight.
- 22:00And I'm doing shooting tonight.
- 22:01I'll be watching the chess match.
- 22:05Yeah.
- 22:06And then on Wednesday, I think this way around,
- 22:08isn't it?
- 22:09I won't be missing that game.
- 22:11So it's quite a good week, quite a good week of football
- 22:13for us before, before this week's through.
- 22:15You stay in the Bayern Munich for the win?
- 22:17Yes.
- 22:20Yeah, I know, I think I'd have took,
- 22:21Bayern, I mean, I did take them in the bat.
- 22:24I think I'd have been okay if we'd have said
- 22:26there'll be one goal behind going into their home.
- 22:28Like when it was, is it 5-2 at one point?
- 22:32I was, I was thinking of this
- 22:34as they get out.
- 22:35I'm going to go in and he's going to be,
- 22:37he's going to be on him.
- 22:38He faces and he puts on much.
- 22:39Still look like I'm doing it.
- 22:42How many punches have I had?
- 22:43You've took PSG.
- 22:45Yeah.
- 22:45And well, I know now, but that's about all about it.
- 22:48So thank you very much.
- 22:49But you know, the thing you're missing is PSG
- 22:53have been so much better away from home.
- 22:55Going to Amfield, they turn it on.
- 22:57Just going to different, they have no fear whatsoever.
- 23:01And I think that might stand.
- 23:02And you'll start on the other counter attack.
- 23:04Ah, but again, it's not just going to be a game of that.
- 23:07No, they're going to just go out the leather each other.
- 23:11Do you think PSG will do that still?
- 23:13Being one goal up and then going away from home.
- 23:15Yeah, again, just like what Vincent Company said,
- 23:18I don't think they really know any other way to play.
- 23:22I think they, well, no, I think they are set up
- 23:25that they can play any way they want.
- 23:28So as happened at the start of the game,
- 23:30they went toe to toe, then then they went a goal,
- 23:33a goal ahead just before half time with that
- 23:36handball that would never be given in the Premier League.
- 23:39And then from that moment,
- 23:41they just allowed the counter attack to happen
- 23:43because they can play that way.
- 23:44So when I think they started this game,
- 23:46that's how they'll sort of set up to play.
- 23:48But it'll potentially change.
- 23:51So quickly, the moment buy and get a goal,
- 23:53or if buy and get the first goal,
- 23:56PSG continue just to play in the counter attack,
- 23:58they'll have to be a bit of a bit of balance.
- 24:00But as I say, both of them teams can play any style of football
- 24:03they want and be successful at it.
- 24:05And they've got the best players in the world to do it.
- 24:09Is it an easy thing to say that PSG
- 24:12being of one of them gets the final that they go on to win?
- 24:16Everybody is sort of hinted towards that,
- 24:19but I've seen down the years
- 24:21and many cup competitions that happen.
- 24:23Not just in football, in other sports as well,
- 24:26where you think the outstanding team
- 24:27that has had the toughest route to get to the final,
- 24:31and they've had to beat all of the best teams to get there
- 24:34that either don't turn up in the final,
- 24:36or defenders are on top,
- 24:38then defenders managed to nullify the opposition.
- 24:41That's why it appeals to so many.
- 24:44That's why so many wanted to.
- 24:46It's never done deal.
- 24:48Normally, it is.
- 24:49And I just, if Arsenal get the day off,
- 24:52fight with it, and if that let's go,
- 24:53get the day off.
- 24:54The Dalghats of a ball.
- 24:56As you just said about different styles as well.
- 24:58Did you see the Pep Guardiola went to watch Stockport
- 25:00on that night that...
- 25:02Oh, yes, all that shit.
- 25:03On the night the PSG played by it.
- 25:05Did he really?
- 25:05He went to watch Stockport.
- 25:07I can't remember who they were playing,
- 25:09but what you're going to Stockport game?
- 25:11Everyone was like,
- 25:13you didn't watch that big game.
- 25:15I didn't watch a big game.
- 25:16He was like,
- 25:17there's so many different styles of football.
- 25:18It's all enjoyable.
- 25:19It's all good.
- 25:20That doesn't, just that style doesn't make it better.
- 25:22I don't care.
- 25:23He regressed that move.
- 25:24He was that style castigable.
- 25:26Yeah.
- 25:27He was the style castigable.
- 25:28Yeah.
- 25:29I think I picked the wrong game here, Lads.
- 25:33Do you think,
- 25:35Arsenal, if they were,
- 25:38if they go on and when the Champions League,
- 25:42would they be happy with that?
- 25:43If they don't go and win the Premier League?
- 25:45I think an Arsenal fan, but probably tell you...
- 25:49I'm speaking for us,
- 25:50Arsenal fans, sorry, all Arsenal fans.
- 25:52I'll say, I'll say...
- 25:53I think Arsenal will prefer to win the Premier League.
- 25:56They will prefer to win the Premier League.
- 25:59You think so over the European Cup?
- 26:00Yeah.
- 26:01This year they want the Premier League.
- 26:02Never won a European Cup after?
- 26:04No.
- 26:04But I still think having been in the position all year
- 26:08and how we feel about the league and the Premier League,
- 26:12I think they'd prefer that this year
- 26:14and have another round of Champions League next year.
- 26:17But I think it's also a great thing
- 26:19if they come away with one of them
- 26:21because then if they are still making progression, they are...
- 26:24I think they have to come away with one.
- 26:26They have no choice.
- 26:26They have to come away with one of them.
- 26:28They might not, though.
- 26:29They have to come away with one because if they...
- 26:31They'll do, too.
- 26:32If they don't, the season's deemed
- 26:34and I don't care how you want them.
- 26:36People are going on and I say it the same.
- 26:38Every year there's an improvement.
- 26:39And no matter what happens this year's an improvement.
- 26:41I'll last year for Michael Altata,
- 26:42but if he doesn't win some of this season,
- 26:45a Christmas, he was in a prime position.
- 26:47And I know leagues aren't one of Christmas,
- 26:49but they certainly are lost by Christmas
- 26:51and he was in a prime position to crack on.
- 26:54This will be a massive, massive loss
- 26:59if he's not going away with the trophy.
- 27:01He's been in a final.
- 27:03He's walking away with the lead.
- 27:04Was he eight nine points clear at one stage?
- 27:06He's nine points coming hand along with that, but yeah.
- 27:09Nine points clear at one stage.
- 27:10And then he's flying in the Champions League.
- 27:13I mean, you're on the front of all four trophies.
- 27:17They're still flying in the Champions League, you'd say?
- 27:19I don't know, that was a bit of a dodgy 1-0 over two legs.
- 27:26Against Sport and Mose.
- 27:28I mean, come on.
- 27:29I'm in the win.
- 27:30I get it, I'll split over two legs,
- 27:311-0 over Sport and Lisbon.
- 27:33Come on.
- 27:34I mean, you're a hard critic.
- 27:36I know me, but it's Arsenal and they've got such a fantastic team
- 27:40to be beaten Sport and Lisbon
- 27:42with probably a tenth of the budget,
- 27:46with a tenth of the quality of the player they've got.
- 27:50At why?
- 27:51Why are you going to be in Sport and 1-0 over two legs?
- 27:56I think that was with the city game in there.
- 27:59That was with the loss in the league as well.
- 28:02So I still think that was a really good reaction
- 28:07and a really good, well, it was a good result
- 28:09because they got themselves through.
- 28:11I just think they've got so much quality
- 28:13and I don't think they're exposing it all.
- 28:14Look at Villa Forrest at the minute.
- 28:18They've just played their first champions, excuse me,
- 28:20Europa League semi-final.
- 28:22Forrest won 1-0.
- 28:23They go back to Villa Park.
- 28:25If it stays nil nil, Forrest will be through
- 28:27with a 1-0 win over two legs.
- 28:28They'll be absolutely delighted.
- 28:29Of course, they get it, but Forrest and Arsenal.
- 28:33Forrest haven't spent a billion quid.
- 28:35Forrest aren't expected to win the Champions League.
- 28:38Forrest are riding the crest of a wave
- 28:41from what new North spirit will center with a nil
- 28:43on what he left.
- 28:44So they're actually, they're over-achieving.
- 28:47Arsenal are supposed to be doing better
- 28:53than what I think they are at the minute.
- 28:56They're supposed to be anyway.
- 28:58I only go on that sport in game, by the way.
- 29:00The position they are in the league,
- 29:01I think the top now aren't they?
- 29:03So right now that they're on track to do everything
- 29:05they're supposed to do, but I'm just saying,
- 29:07if they don't, if they win the league,
- 29:09I think it's a great season.
- 29:10Michael Art says I've got tells an amazing man
- 29:13and it's all well and good.
- 29:14I don't think that the European Cup is ever expected
- 29:18of any team at the start of the season.
- 29:20So I think his priority is the league,
- 29:22but in my eyes and in my opinion,
- 29:25just as a stupid football fan,
- 29:27he asked to win a trophy.
- 29:30He asked to win a trophy.
- 29:31Does he?
- 29:32I don't want to say the sac,
- 29:33because I don't believe you can't.
- 29:34His memory is from the fans.
- 29:35I don't think they should or are going to be right.
- 29:38The best fan keeps getting himself right
- 29:40to the brink, one of them eventually fall into place,
- 29:43but they've got the funniest fan base in the world.
- 29:45I mean that.
- 29:46Oh, yeah, 40 years.
- 29:47Absolutely. It's gold, isn't it?
- 29:49You know what I mean?
- 29:50They would do want to kill each other.
- 29:51That's the way they talk to each other.
- 29:52Braved this, braved that.
- 29:55Make it.
- 29:56I would just take a chill pill and calm down,
- 29:58but different notes,
- 29:59slightly talking forest and villa there.
- 30:01Did you see Elliot Anderson's not making
- 30:03a mug of nudges?
- 30:05I haven't sure.
- 30:06I'll show you after this.
- 30:08It must be something special,
- 30:09if you're just talking about him, not me.
- 30:10I was good to know.
- 30:11He sort of stopped, put his foot on the ball
- 30:13and then just rolled it through.
- 30:14Stephen Peanour, like honestly,
- 30:16that should remind him of me.
- 30:16He used to do that quite often.
- 30:18You can't even imagine he'd done that.
- 30:19He used to do that as well.
- 30:20And he used to shout names at me as he's doing it.
- 30:24Oh, Peanour, I want a guy.
- 30:26Yeah, if they both want that England camp,
- 30:28you're definitely getting your phone up there
- 30:29and just pulling that on repeat.
- 30:30Definitely. I'd have it as a screen saver.
- 30:32Do you think that was a red card for Anderson?
- 30:34Was that before the mega after the mega by any way?
- 30:36Um, I, it was, it was bored alarm on there.
- 30:42I sort of, I thought it was a yellow.
- 30:44I sort of always want to see people
- 30:46on the pitch, unless it's literally horrendous.
- 30:48So I was all right with it.
- 30:51Just about, just about,
- 30:53makes it and it made a big difference, didn't it,
- 30:54in the, in the, in the tie.
- 30:56And the fact he's available for the second leg.
- 30:59That's the one, you and I,
- 30:59and I was going on about his knee,
- 31:01but he said it's got to be a red card.
- 31:02He didn't really broke hardly,
- 31:03walk into his uncle.
- 31:05Yeah. Yeah.
- 31:06Obviously not a,
- 31:07I've seen it in slow motion.
- 31:08I can't really talk about it.
- 31:10It looks bad and slow,
- 31:11but we're always doing it.
- 31:11Yeah.
- 31:12The first two angles actually looked
- 31:14okay when I was watching on the TV.
- 31:16That's, look, it was, it was
- 31:17forceful, wasn't it?
- 31:18And that's how he plays.
- 31:19That's how he tackles.
- 31:20When you say that,
- 31:21when you say similar to James Garner
- 31:22in the way they play.
- 31:22When you say that, you've got to go.
- 31:24Soon as you say that word,
- 31:25forceful.
- 31:26I just think soon you say that word,
- 31:27you've got to go forceful tackle.
- 31:29You wouldn't get away with playing these days.
- 31:32Forceful tackle above the ankle.
- 31:34I don't care what it is you've got to go.
- 31:36Landy Reed, he was on the comms.
- 31:37And for that game was saying the opposite.
- 31:40That's what football still needs there.
- 31:42So where'd you stand?
- 31:44I think football still needs it.
- 31:45I think we've gotten into the
- 31:48such a place where everybody wants to go to ground so quickly.
- 31:51And it's hard for the referees
- 31:53to judge things instantly at times
- 31:55because everybody is throwing themselves
- 31:57on the floor, did you see?
- 31:59At the weekend,
- 32:01Crystal Palace V,
- 32:02Bournemouth and Henderson
- 32:05and the Palace Gold dropped a catch.
- 32:07And as you sort of go on to pick it up,
- 32:09I think it was just an essay.
- 32:10The center half just ran past him.
- 32:12There was the slightest of brushes
- 32:15and he's arked his back,
- 32:16he's rolling to ground.
- 32:17You could see him visibly screaming out loud
- 32:19and he got a penalty kick.
- 32:21And the bar won't over, really,
- 32:22because there was a slight touch
- 32:23but never in a million years
- 32:24have that been penalty in my opinion.
- 32:26But it's given.
- 32:28So the players are not helping the game
- 32:33or the officials or anybody at the minute
- 32:36because think about when you go to a stadium.
- 32:37This is all for both fans.
- 32:39Everyone loves a goal.
- 32:40That's the first thing you want to chew
- 32:42about the most.
- 32:43Everyone likes nice bits of play
- 32:45where you can get all excited.
- 32:46One of the things people love the most
- 32:48is tackles.
- 32:48Oh, massive.
- 32:49I'm getting dead excited.
- 32:50We love it.
- 32:51Yeah, we love it.
- 32:52And Evan, it's going to get in.
- 32:53Everyone loves a good proper.
- 32:56Well, 50, 50, 50 well time tackle
- 32:58where two people are committed.
- 33:00And you can't have that.
- 33:02First of all, if one person is not committed,
- 33:04it used to be new stories say
- 33:06when we're growing up,
- 33:06make sure you're fully committed
- 33:07so you don't go ahead.
- 33:08Nowadays, if one person does go into that tackle
- 33:11in the same way we were always told,
- 33:13he's likely to get a yellow card
- 33:14or a red card because the other fellow is
- 33:16already arcing his back and jumping
- 33:19and trying to get a free kick
- 33:21or trying to get them sent off
- 33:22to see across all of your European football,
- 33:24the amount of players that are trying to get
- 33:26the other team's players sent off
- 33:29for something because it will be an advantage.
- 33:31And they're not even embarrassed
- 33:32that it looks embarrassing on themselves.
- 33:35They just want the advantage.
- 33:37And as just think as a group of players,
- 33:41I think they're the only ones that can sort of change that.
- 33:43We can get excited about it.
- 33:44We can ask for it.
- 33:45We can cheer for it.
- 33:47We cannot give fouls for certain things.
- 33:50But ultimately, the players have got to
- 33:52kind of bring it back themselves
- 33:53of what they want and what they allow
- 33:55because the officials
- 33:56just going to say you can't the rest do that as well
- 33:58by not leaning into it when they play
- 34:00acting to a point, the kind of little bit,
- 34:03but then the referees would have to
- 34:06and the officials would have to stop
- 34:08giving a lot of fouls.
- 34:10And within those fouls,
- 34:11they will miss actual foul
- 34:14because, you know, to stop a broad spectrum
- 34:16to stop them, you're going to have to say no.
- 34:18And then you're going to miss a load of fouls,
- 34:19some of which are going to be penalty kicks
- 34:22or fouls and whatever.
- 34:23Then there's going to be a lot of VAR interruption.
- 34:26And then we'll start calling the refs,
- 34:27Paul, because they're missing it.
- 34:27And then you're going back full circle.
- 34:29It's got to be the place.
