- 0:42SPEAKER_01: You you've got you've got you've got a hard life.

- 1:06SPEAKER_01: I'm in Fernandina Beach.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: I'm in Fernandina Beach at this house, and um we're visiting some friends.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: We just arrived like moments ago, so I should be talking to them, but I figure I can walk outside for eight minutes.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: So I stepped out to their porch.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Their porch has like a 15-foot ceiling and a pool and a hot tub, and it's screened in and these plants, and it's like enormous.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: This porch is like I don't know, 30 feet by 30 feet with columns and uh and the water.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: It's just gorgeous, man.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: You're like, dude, the dude's a harbor, harbor master uh pilot.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Harbor harbor pilot.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: You know?
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: He he steers big ships, steers big boats in from Indina Beach.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Like a little tugboat.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: With like a heat motor.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Maybe it pays well.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, this house is freaking fancy as hell.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: There's even a guest house for me and my wife.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Well, my wife.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: That's that's what you you've got, you've got all that kind of stuff.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: You've got homes and things.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: I know, but I don't drive big boats.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: I guess I guess the restaurant's kind of a big boat.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you drive a big boat.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: It's and you feed pizza and you feed the people.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: So check it out.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: When I was a kid, I remembered this the other day.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: I wanted to tell you, so I called you every day for about six weeks to tell you, and you never answered.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: But I still remember what I was going to tell you.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Now you can tell me.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: When I was a kid, and we would have people over to the house for uh like kid would spend the night.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: When we woke up, my mom would have a little piece of paper folded in half, and it was a menu, and it would have oatmeal, pancakes, chocolate chip cancakes, blueberry pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, orange juice, milk, cereal, like everything on it.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: And you and and my friends would get to pick what they wanted from the menu, and and there was like little check boxes.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Oh man.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: And you would order what you wanted from cream of wheat, oatmeal, cereal, eggs, whatever, pancakes, whatever you wanted, and she would make it for us.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Bet you everyone loved going to Mama Ray's house.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Well, we didn't have a lot of people over, but when we did, and my sister too, same thing.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: So sometimes if my sister had people and I had people, or we had a party, birthday party, whatever it was, have four or five people, you know.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: I remember those menus.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: And I think then I was thinking, I said, you know, that might be part of the reason I have a restaurant to this day.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Maybe that I I had a restaurant when I was, you know, under 10, and and when I was six years old or eight years old.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, your mom ran a restaurant.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: She was running the breakfast, the breakfast, the diner for the kids.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: You know, I don't think people were ordering oatmeal that much, but it was on the menu, which was kind of cool.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: You know, they were ordering like you know, blueberry pay chocolate chip pancakes and bacon with all the syrup.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, extra syrup.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, do you call it no charge?
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Do you call it syrup or syrup?
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: Syrup.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Syrup, yeah, of course.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Syrup.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: So anyway, that was uh that was my little story that uh that I've been waiting to tell you for a long time.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: It's not that exciting, but it was it was a memory that came to me, and I didn't have anywhere to put that memory except into your podcast.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Into space.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Well into your podcast.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: It's your podcast.

- 4:35SPEAKER_00: It's your podcast.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Well, right, because I'm Steve with a V, and you're not.

- 4:43SPEAKER_01: I I'm I've Steve Ray has uh is was the name I went by all through high school, Steve with the V.

- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, you you you say what's they got it wrong too?
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: So they they they they were you don't understand how the word Steven is shortened.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: So they were they were like um they were supporting the lie, basically.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: You just don't understand the your own name, basically.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: When it's spelled differently.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: Still shortened to Steve.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Although Steph Curry went shortened it to Stephanie.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: That's how you shortened it.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: You could do that too.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: He's a Stephen.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: That's how you shorten Stephan.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Why would you short?
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but he's not Stephen Curry, he's Stephen Curry, isn't he?
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: He's Steph Curry.

- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I grew up listening.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: I grew up reading um, you know, the only the only five books I ever read in my life were Stephen King books.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: And I think he spells it pH.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: He does.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: And I called him.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: And his name is Stephen.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: You didn't call him Stephen King.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: Nobody calls him Stephen King.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: I know.

- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to track down an address.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: And a human being, I couldn't find it online.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: No.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: The human being took me to a bunch of books that probably nobody's opened in 30 years, and I found the address.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Had my mom's name on it.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: It it said where she worked, and that she lived in this address and she worked here, and I found the house, then I found the address of the restaurant she worked at.
