- 0:39[SPEAKER_02]: 53rd, crazy.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: We have a lot of views.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: We got a lot of views.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: So people are, people are a listening, which is nice.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, perhaps they would like to know who you are first and who I am though.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I am Annavar.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the co-host of the show and I'm sitting here with my good friend Chris Miles Chris Miles, who is the co-host yeah the other co-host this co-host yeah co-hosts this is Does that mean you want a tweaky anyway?
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: I always want a Twinkie.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the 53rd episode on this episode.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about our favorite mystery TV shows Which can be a little bit misleading because they're probably a bunch of other subcategorys We can fit in on the crying thriller and all that stuff But whatever who cares this is a Michael Jackson.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so on this show We'll talk about what's coming out this weekend with a really big feature coming out
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a couple of movie, well, we've got a movie and a TV show slash TV series to watch or to review.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'll get it right one of these days.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: But first, I want to send a big shout out to those of you listening to us in Chicago, New York, LA, Houston, and Perry.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: Perry, from.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, thank you.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: Merci.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: Merci beaucoup.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: To a Parisian friend.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not Parisian.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_02]: the apparitions of their parents' depresions, I thought that was something else.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: If they're just in France, the French, if they're in Paris, the Parisians.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: So wouldn't make them Frenching, Frenchians?
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, there's no such thing as a Frenchian.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: And don't ever go to French, don't go to France, and ask for French fries.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: They'll look at you looking at nuts.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, they look like we're both like we're nuts anyway.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: I was in Paris for about a week, working for McDonald's Corporation,
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's a, it's a really great place to visit for a little bit.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: I, I didn't, I wasn't like, not so about it.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't need to go back.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: I, I go, I need to go back to bring my wife.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: But, um,
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: We went around with a film crew and filmed all of the, and you have to say film in Europe, by the way, you can't say shoot, like you do here.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: Here we shoot videos in Europe, all over Europe, you film, everything is film, you never say shoot.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: But we did all the landmarks, we went and filmed all the landmarks, so that we'd have it as an archival thing.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: Which is kind of cool.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I do have to go back with my wife one time.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: I do the city of lights.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: Love lights.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a city of love.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: City of lights.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of the most romantic places on earth.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: They say, hence the city of love.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: So I do have to correct you though.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: You can get French fries in France.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: You can get them, but they're not French.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: You just have to go to McDonald's.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, why would you?
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's really weird.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: If you're standing at the right spot on the street in Paris, you see the Arthur Triumph, which is amazing.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: And if you bring your gaze back, just a little bit.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: You see the art of the McDonald's right there.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: So in the same picture, we have the McDonald's Golden Arch and the actual liberation arch, which is so weird.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, thank you for listening no matter where you are, just a little bit of our number crunching that we've been doing, data-wise, and that kind of stuff, just to kind of see where our audience is.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you guys no matter where you are for watching, of course, like, share, subscribe.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to tell your friends in Europe, if you're in France, make sure you tell your friends all over Europe to listen to us.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: We'd like to see somebody from Britain or Germany or any of those places, I believe they call that England, Britain, Britain, Britain, Britain, Britain, Britain, Britain,
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: I apologize to those of you listening over at the across the pond in the UK right now for his lack of understanding you clearly do not watch enough British to United Kingdom Britain England those are three and call it England anyway okay or the or the UK one or the other
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: You clearly don't watch enough British TV, which by the way, a lot of British TV.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: Which by the way, I have a British TV show in the mystery.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: So do I.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, cool.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we'll see if they're the same.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'll have two.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: So move it on.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about the movies that are coming out this week.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, of course, if you are listening to it for last.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: If you are listening to us over the seas, I thought your critique was that you were supposed to zip it when I'm talking.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: Who said that?
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you're white.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my wife.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay, so I see that.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I'm on it.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: So, all right, I'm going to say, well Well, it's in the lip
- 5:21[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, uh, okay, let's make sure you weren't talking.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so we're going to save the big one for last, which everybody knows what it is anyways, because we talked about it last episode.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, we're going to kick it off with, are we going back and forth?
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: Did you do your homework?
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: I just said one.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I said saving for last.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, because this is the only one you did.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, why do I work with you?
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so we're going to start off.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: Many people have said that.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: Many for your opinion made that comment.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure through the years.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: Who might there be a year career?
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: I thought you might people who listen to the show.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: People who listen to the show, I actually get people calling me and saying, hey, you can't let Chris take over the show like that anymore.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_02]: You really need to step up.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: I take over the show.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I just heard that in my head.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: But you did.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to start off with a movie that I'm actually intrigued to see.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I know I haven't said that in quite a few weeks here.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: No, I never heard you used that word.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just curious about it.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's going to be that great, but it's called Heart of the Beast.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's a survival thriller like an action movie based on Glenn.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: Pit movie.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: I was getting there, but of course you had to interrupt me one more time.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: I did see that.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, preview.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: David Ayer is the director.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know him from suicide squad and Fury, which was actually, that was a good movie too.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Brad Pitt is in at JK Simmons in it, Anna Lambe, and then Uber, Dougie, which is the dog's name, as it looks like a good movie.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: and he keeps going.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so just a real quick tagline, a stranded special forces veteran and his military combat dog fight for survival across the unforgiven Alaskan wilderness.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: It looks pretty good.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: I might go see it.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to skip that one because you asked me to.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: Up next for Got Nile and is an animated fantasy, Joel Crawford and
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: Manual Mercado directed it pushing boots is oh pushing boots the last wish.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't realize it was called pushing boots the last wish Got to be careful how you say that anyway Let's see who's in here.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Dave Franco, Manny, uh, Jacinto
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: Jenny Slate, her, H-E-R, Lizza Sobaram, and Ronnie Chin as well.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's about two best friends who accidentally open a portal to a legendary island that slowly erases their memories forcing them to find a way home before they forget each other forever.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Ronnie Chin is right.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I mentioned his name.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you want to, you want to, since you've changed it?
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: Don't know, Ronnie Chen is one of the people and daily show, hilarious, very funny guy.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: Hence why I mentioned him.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: give our audience credit, would you please?
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Ronnie Harper, or Charlie, you coming from Ronnie on the brain now.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: Charlie Harper is up next, a romantic drama.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of a coming image movie, Mac Eldridge and Tom Dean are the directors on that.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: It features Amelia Jones and Nick Robinson.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: And the story is basically about a young couple who's at a crossroads in the early 20s and they've got a determined if their love can withstand divergent career ambitions.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: personal stagnation.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: That one's a past for me.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how you feel about it, but you're too busy in your phone.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: Up next, Man Hunt, Unibommer, which I wanted to leave this one for last because it would have led into the reviews, but you know, you got to be a party pooper, because this one sounds like it could be interesting.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's a true crime, crime thriller, thriller, type, uh,
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: show movie, whatever you want to call it.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: Greg Yanis is the director.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Sam Worthington is in it.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Paul Betney, rather Chris North, Jeremy Bob, and let's see Mark to plus.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's about an outcast FBI pro-filer who uses the newly created field of forensic logistic rather to track down a capture a reclusive domestic terrorist Ted kazinski that's how you say his name right yeah um... so this looks interesting to me only because i like true crime stories like this i hope it's
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: thematic and more of a documentary type thing than like this runaway story type thing and we'll get more into that in a second I'll cross to compare these two but all right you're up now since you've been over their waiting with baited breath and it's pretty bad.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: Well be well because I had fish.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: would be to breath this.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I, what I would say about you on the issue.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, bomber thing is I probably won't want to go see that because I don't like making bad people famous or infamous either way.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I think when they do these kind of movies,
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: they take a lot of creative license in making stuff up about the person or the situation.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: So not my cup of tea at that one.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, there's a, what's it called?
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: What's it?
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: What would be called?
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: It was out before, oh darn it.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: What is it?
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the movie that you learned?
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: Starts with an E. Oh yeah.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now actually, it doesn't start with an E. It starts with an A.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: What starts with an A, but then it ends with an E.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: End games coming back.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: That was the worst lead in I've ever heard in the last ever.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: No, one of the best better than Robin Williams even.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: I would just say I already know.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: I already know who's calling on this one in his name is Tino, but my that's it and that's who I'll probably go see it with.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: He starts acting class as tomorrow, advanced acting.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's where we need to call him L.A. Tino from now on.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's our review from L.A. Tino.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, congratulations to Tino.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_02]: He was elected vice president of the student council at Westmont, Jr. High.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: way to go to know it's because of his reviews on the show that's what it is that I think I think coming on the show helped him do his speech I think he was incredibly articulate during his speech because of the few times that we've had a mind here to do review so I we're going to take a little bit of credit for that I showed up to pick him up with a little chauffeur cap and a sign that said vice president to know so now of course you told me he said every time you come pick me up at school you got to wear the hat and bring the sign
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: And we had to take him to Olive Garden that night.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_02]: No, you can't.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: You can't.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: You're bringing him at home.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: No, you can't bring any home.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you can.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you can.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we had to take him there.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like immediately he got in the car.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, OK, we're going to Olive Garden.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, wait, I think outside the possible.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, endgame, um, nobody can.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen it like five times already.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody can.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: But there's some new stuff here, so nobody cares.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: We are going to see endgame, and I'm going to, I'm going to review it.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's your whole speel about shale.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to give.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to talk anything about it.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to talk about.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm so glad we saved that for last.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: Given nothing away, I want.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: How can you give anything away?
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: It has to be 30 minutes.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, there's probably there were lines for endgame when it first came out.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: There's probably going to be lines for this one.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: So, and let's see if it breaks Spider-Man.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Spider-Man's over a billion and a half now, right?
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: I believe endgame is at its endgame.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think it's gonna break Spider-Man.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: I will see.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: Why would you go back just to see 20 minutes of footage that you could wait and see like, because the entire movie was great.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody on somebody's pirated YouTube video that'll be up there for about all of three days.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: This was one of the best.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: Avenger movies ever made in my opinion.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: And it's the kind of movie you can watch over and over because you miss something somewhere.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: So by the time you've seen it you've caught everything.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: So, go see it and then put comments in about what you thought about Chris Dissing our Avenger friends.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: So when the aliens show up, Chris will not be saved by Iron Man.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not Dissing Avengers.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just Dissing the fact that your cell of it was
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's put your opinion.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be in the movie.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Put your opinion in the comment section below.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just give me the movie.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you make it or that's how you make it creative and interactive with the audience.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: I really made it creative by saying what I said.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: And you are jumping on my toes, sir.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to be in a tell doors on you.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: I let you speak.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: Without talking over you.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_02]: So those are the movies.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna see endgame Chris is gonna go see I did not declare Oh, I said I said it looks interesting.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't say I was gonna go see it.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's gonna go give more notoriety to a guy who bomb the bunch up people
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: It has nothing to do with no writing, but I never said that either.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: So, quit putting words in my mouth because I still haven't decided towards it.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: I said I would like to see it to see if it's going to be more of a bio- documentary or if it's going to be sensational, right?
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: because here's the reason why I said that I was going to review ratchet this week yes and actually I forgot about something that came out on Thursday on Netflix that I had been wanting to watch because it actually looked fairly decent which also stars the daughter of a very famous acting couple oh mister Warren Beatty or Warren Beatty and a net betting their daughter is in the show and there's been a few of them they're called it's
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: it's on Netflix monster monster monster monster just monster and then underneath it it's like the Ed Geen story or the the Menendez brother story or whatever right well this one's called the Lizzy boarden story you know and growing up as a kid of course we all heard the song you know Lizzy boarden took an axe gave her father gave her mother 40 wax once you saw what she would don't you gave her father 41 right
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I watched Ratchet and I'm just going to say this because I feel like I picked a piece that was interesting and may have been a little bit on the Whitty and funny side, but I read some of the reviews and stuff.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't get all the way through it.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's the first thing.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: The reason why I didn't get all the way through it is because when I went to go watch the rest of it, I think I watched three episodes.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was good.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: Thought it was interesting I haven't finished it, so I don't feel like I can really give a review on it.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: Plus the other thing I just found out is that it's not going to be continued
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: They did like eight or nine episodes and that's it and I thought somewhere I read that they finally that they picked it up and they were going to redo it But I read incorrectly, so that's the first thing.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: The second thing was is then I remembered that monster was out and I was like, oh, I should have talked about that Because I know we were really interested in watching it.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: So we watched the first episode of monster Which is also subtitled the Lizzy boarden story and I have to say this
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Here's why I said, if you were one of those biopic or biopic people, documentary people and you want something like this to be true to the story, the other shows in the monster series were more along the true crime biobiography kind of thing.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: This one is not at all.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: And in the first episode, I was really disappointed in it because I wanted to know more.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: So, I had to do research, I had to go online and look at some things that they were talking about.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not going to give any spoilers in here and I think like that, but I'm just going to say this.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: You might want to skip it if you're somebody like my partner, senior cross from me, who's very much about the historical facts and the data and all that kind of stuff because I'll tell you this, it's not.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Lizzy Borden is, uh, although she is portrayed in such a great light.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, fantastic lead performance by Lea Betty, baby, right?
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's also more in baby.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Lea, Le
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can't I say his last name, Warren, baby, elevating or one can think of when you have a, but when you say elevating or something, I would tell you to do.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: Did you when I celebrated?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: Elevating.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, elevated, right?
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's like getting on the elevator, right?
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: Elevating, yeah, exactly.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: All right, anyway, she gives a fantastic performance as Lizzie.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just some of her facial expressions as that kind of stuff.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: It just, she did some decent research on what possibly could be in the mind of a killer, so to speak, or at least somebody who is driven the way she was.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Because the story goes that her stepmother or stepmother rather and her father were very verbally abusive of her and they really didn't care too much about her.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: That much we know about.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: What we, the other things we know is we know that the house made,
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: had no relations with Lizzie at all.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: As a matter of fact, there was an accusation from the housemate that said that she heard Lizzie laughing maniacally before she committed the act.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what kind of led into the investigation.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: In this, that is not what happens at all.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: There is a romantic relationship between the two of them.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: that goes way beyond like anything.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's it's I sat there and I went what does this have to do with the story?
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Other than to maybe weave in the fact that maybe the house made made her do it by guiding her a certain way, which could be an angle and that's fine, but
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's an all-star cast in here.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking, of course, about Charlie Hunman, who plays Andrew Borden.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Rebecca Hall is amazing, is Abby Borden, the step mom, and then Vicki Krebs is the house-made bridge.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: So great performances all the way around.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: The visually, the show is amazing, it's dark, the costumes are totally period-esque, it's atmospheric, it's highly Victorian area-style.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: So it's in the right area,
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: And it's popcorn entertainment if you want some of this kind of like campy, dark fantasy drama thing, but here's the thing.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't, it's not historically accurate, it's got a ton of historical inaccuracies in it.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's got some weird time jumps in it too.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: They talk about jumping into another future killer, a Florida killer, by the name of Eileen Mormons.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: Was that her name?
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: Mermons or whatever?
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: She was the one from Florida, the serial killer who went around, like, I think she was a prostitute or whatever, and she killed a bunch of people, like in a late, early, long, sorry.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: She's played by Sarah Paulson, which makes sense because, of course, the directing or, because this is Ryan Murphy and Ian Brenman's, like, fourth installment in this Netflix anthology series.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: So if you are a fan of American Horror Story, you're gonna love it for the story side of it, because it's just as fantastical as all the other stuff.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's not accurate at all.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: And, like I said, there's some weird time jumps, there's some very,
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: heavy-handed themes in it that don't fit with the with the with the era.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: So to speak and that kind of throws it off.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: Plus you just kind of sitting in your like, where is this going?
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I only got through like two episodes and at that point I was kind of like, I think I'm going to skip the rest of this.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: And especially when I had heard from another friend of mine about the the addition of somebody from a hundred years later, a Florida Syria killer, which clearly would not have been
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: Or in the series the TV series it's just it's weird and I haven't I didn't get to that point So I can't really speak about it, but I just kind of went what is all of this about But like I said if you are into all that kind of stuff if you don't have a problem if you love Ryan Murphy's highly stylized can't be historical fiction like of course I'm talking about American Horror Story or feud
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Then, and you don't really care about the real history, then you're going to love it.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: If you are like me and you'd rather the story be actual fact, actually factual and more along the lines of that, check out some of the earlier monster seasons, because they are way better.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: So that's that.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: What am I going to give it?
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I really can't review it to be honest, because I can't, because I didn't watch it all the way through.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the thing, because I didn't watch it all the way through because it just didn't mold it, it didn't capture me.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: By the second episode, I was kind of like, where is this going?
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it just didn't fit.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: And everything that I had already known about Lizzy Borden, which wasn't a whole lot, but you know, I know she was acquitted first of all because they didn't have an effect because the crime scene got tampered with.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: If you're American Horror Story fan, you're probably going to love it.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: You're probably giving it a higher rating than I will.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm probably only going to give it like four and a half.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: Because I was expecting.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because I watched the other monster series.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen all the other ones.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen the Ed Geen story.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen them in Ed's brother's story.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen all those.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: And they're more along the lines of historical factualness.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: And this one just isn't.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: And when it didn't do it, I was like, I don't know if I want to finish watching this.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: Plus the whole...
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: Love seam, not in love seam, but the whole love triangle, not triangle, but the whole love plot Connection, if you were between the maid and Lizzie, which never really actually happened Just makes me go, where are we going with this?
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, that's it.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: For what I say, four, four and a half, four and a half, four and a half.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so it didn't touch on the fact that That evening, she had gone to her mom And asked if she could borrow the car
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: And her mom said, I don't know, go ask your father.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't touch on that.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: No, they should have.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: No, and they should have been a horrible joke.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: That is factual, my friend.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not factual.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so Lizzy Borden, I won't watch that either.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I saw that on Netflix, by the way, and I'm like, why?
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: But the other monster ones are good.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: So the other ones from the series are good.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: Making because bad people famous, but it's not making them famous.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's about telling their story that's making them famous.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, whatever, they were already famous when they committed the crimes.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_02]: Right, so let it go It the new it's a new story, but don't you want to know the actual no like crime behind it Don't you want to know the actual facts how they got to the whole recognition of how they committed the movies and all that kind of stuff Okay, well, then you are not a I think what it does in my opinion only I think what that does it does two things three things.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's exploitive
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: It makes them famous and it makes money for the whatever network does it.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's all it is.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's all it is.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know, doing a movie about Gacy or Dhammer didn't stop anybody, didn't stop the next one.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's what they presume to tell you that, well, we want to study, you know, show this so we get, so we don't have, what you do, we still have more, so it doesn't do anything except make them more famous.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: And by the way, there are people out there who have like, they're like, enfatuated with these people when they do their deed and then they get more enfatuated when they become, you know, like, for one of a better term, movie stars.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: you know, I just don't agree with doing that.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there was never a reason in my mind to do anything about Gacy.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: He was caught, he was tried, he was put in jail.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know, when you do that kind of stuff, you're making the victims relive all that stuff all over again, too, which is just, I think that's as wrong.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I worked in television for 10 years at ABC and I did documentaries and I wouldn't do that.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: I just can.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't do something like that.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's just me.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, that's it.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so I went to GoC.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_02]: I said I was going to go see that sheep movie, the bossy, mossy, creek thing.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: Sean the sheep the beast of mossy bottom right but i went to relook at the trailer and it's kind of claymation it's not animation it's not like the sheep detectives which i really thought was excellent and so i was like i really don't want to go see this now so i pivoted because we can pivot
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to go see the weight, which I thought I thought you were going to go see too.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I thought we'd be able to talk about it together, but you didn't.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: So I went.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: And here's a quick rant.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: Why do they kill you?
- 26:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like your other rant about that other movie or movies out at Christmas.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's not Christmas.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: No, but the previews for these really terrible horror movies.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: that are coming out of Christmas, violent night, two, because we needed that.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't get it, I'm sorry.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: Those, I mean, put those movies out in the summer or in the fall for goodness sakes.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_02]: Let us have some happy movies at Christmas.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, that's my ramp, the wait.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: First of all, I don't get the title at all.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: Unless it's referring to what they were carrying as being the weight.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: But they didn't really reference that at all.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's long, it's boring, it's just jointed.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: There was little of any character development, so I really didn't give a damn about anybody in the movie.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: even the little girl that's in it.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I don't care about these people.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: The music in whoever makes the music for this movie must have been hard of hearing because it is so loud and it is really weird.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's more the movie in this movie is music that you mostly hear in
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: You know, when the guy's running around with a chain saw, that's the kind of, this is what this music was, and it didn't, to me, it didn't fit.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_02]: There's no real point to the movie at all, in my opinion.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: And it's got some really good actors in here, but the movie was just like,
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: okay so the movie starts out with this guy going to jail and what happens at the beginning of the movie when I give it away except that he goes to jail wasn't didn't appear to be a reason for him to go to jail and then he ends up losing his daughter because of it that's how it starts and then the rest of the movie he's in prison but there isn't
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's just like all over the place, it really is.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, it just not well written, not well directed, music, not great.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm gonna only give it a six.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: And they're only like four of us in the theater when I saw it.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, it looked like, the one guy went out to pee like four times.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_02]: That tells you something right there, about how slow and boring it was.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_02]: It was just stuff that happens in this movie that doesn't seem, I don't know, it's like they were making it up as they go.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_02]: So that's my review.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm sorry, you're done.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly, the review was boring because the movie was boring.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't disagree with you.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: I totally agree with never said I wanted to see that, but that's okay Well, I thought you did I happens when you think move on to Mystery TV That would be where the show you made you may proceed and I Are going to do don't have your moment, okay You sure about that
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, because now you're going to drink and you're going to liquefy yourself and then whatever.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: So enough of that.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm skipping the obvious one because I know you're going to pick this one.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: And you've already mentioned this.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to pick first head hunter, which I can't say enough about.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: Just don't know why and you're not going to like it because it I idealizes serial killers and all that kind of stuff, but
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: I know you're going to go this way with certain things, and that's just the way it's going to be, and that's fine.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also going to go with Sherlock.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go with the Benedict Comberpatch version, although the one from, oh man, it was that guy's name.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: I can't think of his name off top of my head, and I should lose my British TV card now because of this.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: But he was a huge British actor from back in the day,
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: critically acclaimed for it as a bazzle rath barn.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I was thinking of.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: That's the original.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's the best shirt.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: In your opinion, I think he's great to I think my opinion.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's the fact.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: I thought you were going to be quiet.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: You brought up rath, a bazzle.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_02]: He is a great one as well.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: Are you sure?
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: He has a great one.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that Benedict Comber Patch does a great job just as just like Bazzle Rathboard and you clearly have not watched this Sherlock.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: So they actually have and I do like him.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I do like him.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: But he's not, you can't sit back there.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing you always have to come forward to the microphone.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: All right, broad church is next.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: This is a British one, about a small town that has a bunch of drama that explores the devastating rippling effects of a young boys murder on a tight knit coastal community.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty good as well.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Here's one that I think we're going to probably agree on.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: Agatha Christie's Petrol.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: from like 1989 to 2013.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's David's shuck it.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think as I say his name or a shush it or something like that.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's pretty much the parole that I know of as far as actors go.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: And then the mentalist, and then I'm not going to mention that one because I think you might mention it, and I'm just going to leave it for you.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: But last but not least, and this one probably going to or two more little big lies, which is an HBO series, and then last but not least a new one called high potential, which I believe is on ABC, it has it, it, it, it,
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of those shows where like, you know, it was being watched when I was eating dinner and you kind of get sucked into it because you're like, oh, wow, what's this?
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and it's about a woman who's really not a detective, but she's more of like a liaison.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: A, um, what do they call it when somebody comes in and like gives advice?
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: What do they call that person?
- 33:20[SPEAKER_02]: It gives advice?
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not advisor, but they call him somebody else.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's, I forget like, it's an analyst or something like that, but whatever.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: in a movie or in a mystery, in like working in general.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: So like if you were to go back to like say another TV studio and you came back as a mentor type, but you were giving your information to them.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: I forget what that's called.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, that's kind of what the show is.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like this woman who's not a detective at all, lens her angle consultant.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: Consultant, that's it, she comes in as a consultant and lens her angle to it as well.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: So that is my list.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: If you have not checked out high potential though, since it's one of the newer ones that I mentioned, make sure you check it out.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's on ABC if I remember correctly.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: There you go, that's my list.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's your whole list.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: My whole list.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, uh, parole.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: I got to agree with you there.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: One of my favorite mystery detectives is parole.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: The original parole is the one I like.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think he just carries the character beautifully.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_02]: There are a couple others.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't crazy about, um,
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: Kenneth Branagh was on Kenneth Brana.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that on the Nio, I believe it was that he cared for his portrayal of him at all.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna go back to the Rockford files.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_02]: Was combined some comedy with a private detective private detective, Solvee Mysteries.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a big James Garner fan, so that's not bad thing.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: Hitchcock, Hitchcock Mysteries were excellent.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_02]: Jake and the Fat Man.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think like two episodes, and I didn't know that.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think I had like two seasons.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was Joe Penny.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_02]: And the big guy was...
- 35:05[SPEAKER_02]: I can't think of his name nice, big guy.
- 35:08[UNKNOWN]: Ah.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_02]: It was... What I liked about it was, again, that was sort of a comedic element there too.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: But...
- 35:18[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of the times the guy chasing the suspect was the fat man, which that was a big part of the comedy to me.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they meant it that way, but it was part of the comedy to me.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: And then I believe the actor you're looking for is William Conrad.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: William Conrad, thank you.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: He played another detective too in another series at one time.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: Then I'm going to go to PBS with you.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: When go to PBS with you, can you keep that to a minimum please keep that on the download.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't people don't want to know you go to PBS with me.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: That just sounds wrong.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's true.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: Grandchester, have you seen that?
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: But a young priest in a small town and he solves murders too.

- 35:58[SPEAKER_02]: Moose quickly.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: There's some subplats that are kind of fun.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then Father Brown, Mysteries, have you watched those?
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: older priests with a round half.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: It was a very good.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: They're really good.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: I like missed.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: I like, well, like PBS.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: I do watch Masterpiece Theater Mysteries, too.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I, I like that.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: My favorite, well, Colombo first.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_01]: There is.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_02]: I knew it was coming.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_02]: Then parole.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, they're pretty damn close.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, how is he gonna go through his list and not mention Colombo?
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Colombo's two genres, detective and his mystery.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: So I had him in my detective's.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: I clearly said that this could go a question.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_02]: I went for parole here.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: So I went for parole.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, you brought him in.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: But they're close.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: But they're close.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_02]: They're really close.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's a it might be a tie for first for me.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_02]: There's just something about parole that's so how we, you know, he just, he's excellent.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think anyway, that's my lesson and I'm sticking to it.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: you at a colombo just saying anyway.

- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like we're, we have media experience for our not critics.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the point.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: We're not critics, but we have a lot of media experience between the two of us, between us radio, theater, television, so we come from a background of knowledge.
