- 0:00Speaker 1: The west of us. You just heard the news. Now
- 0:03Speaker 1: you'll find out what it all means.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's Mark Simone on 710WOR.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hey, well, a lot to get to today. We'll go
- 0:14Speaker 1: over last night's Blakeman-Hockel debate. We'll get to Katie Zachariah.
- 0:19Speaker 1: We'll get to Kimberly Guilfoyle. We'll get to the president.
- 0:22Speaker 1: He's on the road. Boy, is he on the road.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We'll get to, uh, The horses are going to get
- 0:27Speaker 1: banned in Central Park. We'll get to Mamdani and Tisch
- 0:30Speaker 1: and the Pope and a whole lot more. So, yeah,
- 0:34Speaker 1: the president's an incredible schedule. He made a trip to
- 0:39Speaker 1: Alaska yesterday afternoon. That's a seven and a half hour flight.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Although you can go pretty fast in Air Force One.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Six hours. Alaska. Big rally. Then flew from there to
- 0:52Speaker 1: Las Vegas, Nevada. Spent the night in Las Vegas. From
- 0:56Speaker 1: Las Vegas, he's going to Arizona today and then another
- 0:59Speaker 1: state or two. This, of course, would have killed Joe Biden.
- 1:02Speaker 1: He wouldn't have survived any of this. But Trump, business
- 1:06Speaker 1: as usual, crisscrossing the country. Big rally last night in Alaska.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Huge cheers. Now, we'll get back to the president in
- 1:17Speaker 1: these rallies. Midterms, it actually looks pretty good for the
- 1:21Speaker 1: Republicans in the Senate. Looks pretty good in the real polls.
- 1:25Speaker 1: A house too close to call right now. New press
- 1:29Speaker 1: secretary is Katie Zachariah, and she was nervous and shaky
- 1:34Speaker 1: in the first briefing, White House briefing. That's happened before.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It happened with Sean Spicer. It happens many times. But,
- 1:41Speaker 1: of course, you got the fake news, the MSNBC, MSCNN,
- 1:47Speaker 1: New York Times crowd, who just exploded. This was their
- 1:50Speaker 1: whole topic for the whole day, that it was a
- 1:52Speaker 1: train wreck. A disaster, a train wreck, the worst thing. Well,
- 1:56Speaker 1: it was not the worst thing ever. She was nervous.
- 2:02Speaker 1: And the problem is they threw her in there without
- 2:05Speaker 1: any prep. Normally, it takes a lot of prep to
- 2:08Speaker 1: do your first briefing. You got to spend a week
- 2:10Speaker 1: at the White House. You got to spend a lot
- 2:13Speaker 1: of time with all the principals, talking at great length
- 2:15Speaker 1: to them, learning backwards and forwards, every detail of everything
- 2:19Speaker 1: going on. Then you got to, you know, talked to
- 2:23Speaker 1: the president a lot for a couple of days about
- 2:25Speaker 1: what type of briefings he wants, how he wants it done.
- 2:29Speaker 1: There's a lot of prep that goes into this. For
- 2:31Speaker 1: some reason, if the president made a mistake here, this
- 2:33Speaker 1: was the mistake. He threw her in too fast. Should
- 2:37Speaker 1: have let her have a week at the White House
- 2:38Speaker 1: to get herself acclimated, get ready for everything. Instead, as
- 2:42Speaker 1: soon as you get there, do the briefing the next day.
- 2:45Speaker 1: So it was a little too soon. Now, she wasn't
- 2:47Speaker 1: that bad. The biggest problem was, You have to read
- 2:53Speaker 1: an opening statement. You have to run down all the
- 2:56Speaker 1: things you want to brief the press on. So for
- 2:59Speaker 1: eight minutes, she went through this opening. Now, this is
- 3:02Speaker 1: a real art, being able to read this without looking
- 3:05Speaker 1: like you're reading it. You don't want to look like
- 3:07Speaker 1: Chuck Schumer, where you put on these Ben Franklin glasses,
- 3:10Speaker 1: look down on the whole time. It happens a lot.
- 3:13Speaker 1: It's a strange skill to be able to read a
- 3:16Speaker 1: teleprompter or a script and not look like you're reading.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Very few people have this skill. TV anchors have it.
- 3:23Speaker 1: But in television, a lot of times you'll see a
- 3:25Speaker 1: guy's a guest on the show every week. He's great.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Every day he's a guest. He's phenomenal. What a talker.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And then one day they let him fill in. And
- 3:33Speaker 1: then when he has to read the teleprompter, he suddenly
- 3:36Speaker 1: gets very stuck. He's not used to reading a teleprompter.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So that was, but again, that just takes a little practice.
- 3:44Speaker 1: They'll have a media coach work with her. Somebody will
- 3:46Speaker 1: show her how to do that, how to look up
- 3:48Speaker 1: and how to, So that gets fixed real fast. Now,
- 3:51Speaker 1: the rest of it where she had to answer questions
- 3:54Speaker 1: or talk about, she was fine. She was a little nervous.
- 3:57Speaker 1: She was a little shaky. Again, it happened to Sean
- 4:00Speaker 1: Spicer his first day and other press secretaries. But the
- 4:04Speaker 1: toughest thing she had to reveal was Kimberly Guilfoyle being
- 4:07Speaker 1: asked to leave. Now, you take a listen. She sounds fine.
- 4:10Speaker 3: We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been
- 4:15Speaker 3: a wonderful asset to the team, and we.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Wish her well.
- 4:18Speaker 1: All right. I mean, it's a little, you know, sounds
- 4:22Speaker 1: like Carrie in Sex and the City. It's a little,
- 4:24Speaker 1: but OK, she's a young woman. That's how they talk.
- 4:28Speaker 1: But again, she was fine.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I am so honored to work for President Trump and
- 4:35Speaker 3: the American people as the new White House press secretary.
- 4:40Speaker 1: OK, so a little stilted and a little nervous. Again,
- 4:47Speaker 1: you got to wait till the next one. The next one,
- 4:50Speaker 1: if she's much better than she's going to be fine,
- 4:52Speaker 1: she'll get better every time. If she's exactly the same,
- 4:56Speaker 1: then you might have a problem, but it wasn't as
- 4:58Speaker 1: bad as you're hearing. You can remember what a train
- 5:00Speaker 1: wreck it was. Uh, she looked good up there. Uh,
- 5:03Speaker 1: the eyebrows were a little too dark. You got to
- 5:05Speaker 1: fix those eyebrows, tone those down, but otherwise she was fine. Uh,
- 5:11Speaker 1: The listener. She's fine.
- 5:12Speaker 3: So I intend to, to the extent possible, include my family,
- 5:16Speaker 3: include my kids in my work, though my work will
- 5:19Speaker 3: be demanding. They will always be a priority. And I
- 5:22Speaker 3: President Trump is the most family friendly president we've ever had.
- 5:26Speaker 3: He has hired more women with families. And the fact
- 5:29Speaker 3: that he knew I had four kids and he knew
- 5:32Speaker 3: that this job would be demanding and still places trust
- 5:34Speaker 3: in me shows that I know I'm capable of being
- 5:38Speaker 3: able to step up to that.
- 5:39Speaker 1: That was fine. It's not great. I mean, listen, you're
- 5:41Speaker 1: not going to say, what an orator. Wow, she's Winston Churchill. No,
- 5:45Speaker 1: you're not going to say that. But you wouldn't listen
- 5:47Speaker 1: to that and go, wow, it's a train wreck. But
- 5:50Speaker 1: if you're watching MS Now or CNN, they all run
- 5:55Speaker 1: around like chickens with their head cut off, yelling and
- 5:58Speaker 1: screaming about train wreck. That's what they do over there.
- 6:01Speaker 1: They get themselves all worked up about nothing. Hey, last night,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I was speaking to Kimberly Guilfoyle. The word is there's
- 6:10Speaker 1: more stuff coming. There's more stuff coming. Now, here's the
- 6:14Speaker 1: suspicious part. This whole story about the donor, the.
- 6:18Speaker 2: $ 100, 000.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Payoff for American Express, all this stuff. Apparently, this story
- 6:23Speaker 1: was developed four months ago. I don't want to mention publications,
- 6:27Speaker 1: but they had it four months ago and held it.
- 6:31Speaker 1: They were trying to use it to screw up the
- 6:32Speaker 1: midterm elections for Trump. They held it until now, releasing
- 6:36Speaker 1: it just three weeks before the elections. And apparently there's
- 6:40Speaker 1: more stuff. They're going to unleash it in the coming
- 6:44Speaker 1: three weeks. So it's to damage Trump. That's to damage her, too.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But that's one reason they just told her to get
- 6:50Speaker 1: out and leave. She has been very supportive of the president,
- 6:55Speaker 1: putting out all kinds of statements. I still support him.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I'm 100 percent behind him on this and that. Very,
- 7:01Speaker 1: very gracious. And the other thing is she might need
- 7:04Speaker 1: a pardon. That's the other reason for that. The president,
- 7:07Speaker 1: if he were to lose the House. The House is
- 7:11Speaker 1: then going to subpoena everybody. They're going to hold hearings.
- 7:14Speaker 1: They're going to go after everybody, Don Jr., Eric. They're
- 7:17Speaker 1: going to go after Kimberly Guilfoyle if they see something here.
- 7:20Speaker 1: She's a big target because they think because she was
- 7:24Speaker 1: engaged to Donald Trump and with him for a couple
- 7:27Speaker 1: of years, boy, she must know everything about the inner
- 7:30Speaker 1: workings of the Trump family. So that's why she'd be
- 7:32Speaker 1: a big target. So it's possible that if the president
- 7:37Speaker 1: loses the House— He may start pardoning people right away
- 7:41Speaker 1: just so they blunt those House hearings and she'll want
- 7:44Speaker 1: one of those pardons. Hey, the big debate was last night.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Blakeman and Hochul, almost everybody, almost everybody agrees Blakeman won,
- 7:54Speaker 1: won big. If you look at the newspapers or the
- 7:58Speaker 1: news sites where they get a bunch of panelists, you know,
- 8:01Speaker 1: some political analysts ask them to all vote. Even they
- 8:05Speaker 1: said Blakeman won. You know, you'd get the one hardcore
- 8:09Speaker 1: Democratic strategists, but very few of them said Hochul won.
- 8:13Speaker 1: In fact, most of them, they couldn't, they didn't want
- 8:15Speaker 1: to say Blakeman won. So those real Democrat types, well,
- 8:18Speaker 1: it was a tie. That means Blakeman won. He was
- 8:22Speaker 1: very good. Hochul had a lot of problems in that debate.
- 8:27Speaker 1: From her point of view, it's a good thing to
- 8:29Speaker 1: tie him to Trump because the Democratic voted, well, they
- 8:32Speaker 1: hate Trump. So we understand that, but it was too much.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Every second it was Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump.
- 8:39Speaker 1: It was too much. Didn't look good after a while.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And then some people think Blakeman should have tied her
- 8:44Speaker 1: Mamdani more. He didn't even mention Mamdani until the fourth
- 8:49Speaker 1: quarter of this debate. But OK, no, I mean, he's
- 8:52Speaker 1: got plenty of other plenty of other things to go
- 8:54Speaker 1: after her for. But it's interesting when he did mention Mamdani.
- 8:59Speaker 1: When he did say, you know, Mamdani's an anti-Semite, he's anti-Semitic,
- 9:04Speaker 1: he's anti-American, he's anti-Christian. When he went through all that,
- 9:09Speaker 1: Hochul never defended him. Hochul never said a word. Didn't
- 9:14Speaker 1: stick up for Mamdani in the debate. Now, I guarantee
- 9:17Speaker 1: you Mamdani was in Gracie Mansion watching the debate. And
- 9:21Speaker 1: when he heard Blakeman say all this stuff, he waited
- 9:25Speaker 1: for Hochul's response. And Hochul did not defend them in
- 9:30Speaker 1: any way. So it'd be interesting to see if this
- 9:33Speaker 1: changes the supposed support Mom Donnie's going to have for Hochul.
- 9:37Speaker 1: We'll see what happens. But Blakeman was great in the debate.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I'm going to ask you to vote for change. What
- 9:43Speaker 2: have you got to lose?
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 1: It's a line Donald Trump used in 2016. Hochul... I
- 9:50Speaker 1: had all kinds of prepared responses and cliche things to say.
- 9:54Speaker 4: He says that he's going to bring Trump style leadership
- 9:59Speaker 4: to Albany and he's going to let ice run rampant
- 10:02Speaker 4: in our streets.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, see, this is what Hochul did the whole debate.
- 10:05Speaker 1: This is the problem. I don't know if this works.
- 10:07Speaker 1: These lies are too preposterous. This is just hysterical nonsense.
- 10:12Speaker 1: There was no look at all his campaign ads, every
- 10:15Speaker 1: campaign speech. There's no time at any moment that he
- 10:18Speaker 1: ever say, I'm going to bring Trump style leader. He
- 10:21Speaker 1: never said that. He never proposed having ice run rampant
- 10:25Speaker 1: in the streets. He just, uh, he's for law enforcement.
- 10:29Speaker 1: He's a law enforcement guy. She, some law enforcement, not
- 10:33Speaker 1: too much law enforcement. You know, if you're an illegal
- 10:36Speaker 1: committing crimes, you get a pass. Even if you are
- 10:40Speaker 1: a criminal and you get arrested. No bail, no jail.
- 10:43Speaker 1: She's weak on crime. I think that really got through
- 10:46Speaker 1: to most viewers. Now, the big problem with the debate,
- 10:49Speaker 1: it's on New York One, which absolutely nobody watches. New
- 10:52Speaker 1: York One has 12 viewers. The other problem, as I
- 10:55Speaker 1: kept telling you, very biased, very left-wing. You'll notice they
- 10:59Speaker 1: kept cutting off Blakeman. There were moments where she would
- 11:03Speaker 1: launch a vicious attack, and he'd say, could I just respond?
- 11:06Speaker 1: We have to move on. I'm sorry, we have to
- 11:07Speaker 1: move on. That's the cry of the biased moderator. First
- 11:11Speaker 1: of all, you're doing a TV show. If she really
- 11:14Speaker 1: hit him hard, let him respond. This is good. This
- 11:17Speaker 1: is the debate. This is the debate. Let him respond. No,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I'm sorry. We have to move on. We have to
- 11:23Speaker 1: move on. Left-wingers, you notice they never once did it
- 11:26Speaker 1: to Hochul. Every time they did that, it was to Blakeman.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Then the other thing the bias networks always do, and
- 11:35Speaker 1: they did this towards the end, they ask a deep question,
- 11:39Speaker 1: and then as Blakeman would answer, They'd say, it's a
- 11:41Speaker 1: yes or no question. We have to have a yes
- 11:43Speaker 1: or a no, yes or a no. There has to
- 11:45Speaker 1: be a rule. In fact, anybody, if you're ever in
- 11:47Speaker 1: a debate, just tell them, just say it. I don't
- 11:49Speaker 1: do yes or no questions. I'll only give you an
- 11:52Speaker 1: answer with substance. I'm not doing a yes or no question.
- 11:56Speaker 1: It's a trick trying to trap you. Blakeman didn't fall
- 11:58Speaker 1: into it, but he was great last night.
- 12:00Speaker 2: The reason why that happened is because of you, Kathy Hochul,
- 12:04Speaker 2: and your immigration policies. Kathy Hochul appealed- to ICE to
- 12:09Speaker 2: let this criminal out. What was this guy doing in
- 12:12Speaker 2: New York in the first place? It's because Kathy Hochul
- 12:15Speaker 2: has made us a sanctuary state.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, you should have explained it, though, because some
- 12:20Speaker 1: people may not know, especially a New York One viewer,
- 12:23Speaker 1: because they only get half the story. The guy's a
- 12:25Speaker 1: career criminal. The guy's a gangbanger. The guy, Hochul kept yelling,
- 12:31Speaker 1: they're just shooting at random into cars. No, they're not.
- 12:34Speaker 1: They'll only shoot if you take your car and you
- 12:36Speaker 1: try to run them over. That's, That's the only way
- 12:38Speaker 1: you're going to get shot. But she really, really got
- 12:43Speaker 1: crazy and desperate at times. I don't think we have
- 12:46Speaker 1: this clip, but at one time she got so desperate.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I can't believe she even did this. Joe Biden used
- 12:54Speaker 1: to try this crap, but Biden was a real slimy guy.
- 12:58Speaker 1: In a debate, he was the lowest lowlife. They used
- 13:02Speaker 1: to do this to a Republican. They'd start yelling, QAnon!
- 13:06Speaker 1: Nobody knows what the hell QAnon is. It's some kind
- 13:08Speaker 1: of chat room on the internet somewhere with 12 people
- 13:11Speaker 1: in it. It has nothing to do with Trump. It
- 13:13Speaker 1: has nothing to do with Republicans. They don't even know
- 13:17Speaker 1: what QAnon is. So she started hitting him. Blakeman is
- 13:20Speaker 1: hanging around with QAnon. First of all, nobody could, you
- 13:23Speaker 1: can't hang around with QAnon. Who the hell could even
- 13:25Speaker 1: find them? He's hanging around with white supremacists. Can you
- 13:29Speaker 1: picture Bruce Blakeman hanging around with white supremacists? That is
- 13:32Speaker 1: the oldest, cheapest, dirtiest, lowest, low-life thing you could do
- 13:36Speaker 1: in a debate. At one point, she pulled... That's how
- 13:39Speaker 1: desperate she got. Bruce Blakeman hangs around with QAnon and
- 13:43Speaker 1: white supremacists. And that was a sign of absolute desperate
- 13:49Speaker 1: panic to try something that low and stupid and cheap.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And I think that hurt her with the audience, really
- 13:56Speaker 1: hurt her with the audience. But Blakeman... kept battling her.
- 13:59Speaker 1: She kept trying to fight back.
- 14:01Speaker 4: He refused to condemn what ICE did. So he basically
- 14:04Speaker 4: says in the state of New York, he'd be fine
- 14:06Speaker 4: if ICE agents shoot into cars.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Yes. I don't know if anybody's buying this. Blakeman says
- 14:15Speaker 1: ICE agents should just shoot into cars. No, it's like
- 14:17Speaker 1: any law enforcement agency anywhere. If you're going to get
- 14:21Speaker 1: killed and the car is going to run you over,
- 14:23Speaker 1: that's deadly force. You are allowed to use deadly force back.
- 14:28Speaker 1: It's her sanctuary city.
- 14:29Speaker 4: I said New York is not a sanctuary for criminals.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Well, nobody's buying that right now from her.
- 14:36Speaker 4: That is the war with Iran that is driving up
- 14:38Speaker 4: gasoline costs and energy costs.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Who edited these clips? They're way too short. Way too short.
- 14:46Speaker 1: You got to get the whole answer in there. But
- 14:50Speaker 1: Blakeman just kept battling her back.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Kathy, Donald Trump didn't raise utility rates 48 times.
- 14:56Speaker 1: You did. Yeah, he was very good on the energy.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And when you read through all the surveys and focus groups,
- 15:04Speaker 1: they are, all of them, unanimous on that. Number one issue,
- 15:09Speaker 1: energy bills, costs, taxes. And she is the one that
- 15:14Speaker 1: raised your energy bills up like crazy 18 times. She's
- 15:17Speaker 1: the one that's taxing you more than any other state anywhere.
- 15:21Speaker 1: So it was basically affordability. And you got to blame
- 15:26Speaker 1: Hochul on that. Energy costs. all that stuff, taxes, ridiculous taxes,
- 15:31Speaker 1: and more taxes coming, and crime. Crime was the big issue.
- 15:35Speaker 4: New York State now has the lowest crime rates it's
- 15:38Speaker 4: had in modern history.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Patrick, maybe you haven't heard.
- 15:42Speaker 1: U.S.
- 15:43Speaker 2: News & World Report says I have the safest county
- 15:45Speaker 2: in America.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Yeah, now, you know, the funniest thing, he does have
- 15:50Speaker 1: the safest county in America. U.S. News & World Report
- 15:53Speaker 1: does a survey every year. So she argued that it
- 15:56Speaker 1: wasn't because of him. It was because the previous county executive.
- 16:00Speaker 1: That was like eight years ago. That was Laura Kern.
- 16:03Speaker 1: It was years ago. How on earth could you claim that?
- 16:06Speaker 1: So she looked pretty ridiculous at times. We'll play you
- 16:09Speaker 1: some more clips. We'll go over the debate some more.
- 16:11Speaker 1: We'll find out what you think about it. A lot
- 16:14Speaker 1: coming up. It's Mark Simone. Three hours every day. Nine
- 16:18Speaker 1: to noon. Three hours every day on 710WOR.
