Lafayette’s First Explosive Detection K9 | Lafayette Louisiana News
Lafayette PD just welcomed a four-legged security star—Tosca, a German Shorthaired Pointer in training to become the department’s first explosive detection canine. After mastering 18 explosive scents in her six-week certification, she’ll patrol schools, government buildings, and big events like Mardi Gras—all while being safely pettable by the public. Unlike other K-9s, Tosca’s non-apprehension role makes her a community ambassador, helping build trust while boosting safety at city gatherings.
