- 0:01Chapter 31 from the book of Jeremiah.
- 0:04This one is going to be really interesting because there are a
- 0:07lot of insightful things I will say that I noticed as I was
- 0:11reading, and these are going to make you really think.
- 0:16So let's remind ourselves why we read scripture and why we're
- 0:19doing it as often as possible. Every day is ideal, all
- 0:23Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,
- 0:27correcting, and training in righteousness so that the
- 0:31servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
- 0:35That's from Second Timothy chapter 3, verse 16 and 17.
- 0:41And additionally, Romans 10/17 says, consequently, faith comes
- 0:49from hearing the message and the message is heard through the
- 0:54word about Christ or about the Messiah.
- 0:58And we are certainly going to get into that topic tonight when
- 1:01we talk about this chapter here. So let's get started with the
- 1:06prayer. Dear Lord, please be with us, be
- 1:09present as we read through the Scripture.
- 1:12There are some things that I truly don't fully understand,
- 1:16but I they're standing out to me and I ask that you help with
- 1:25understanding as we read through this.
- 1:27We ask for the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom as we read
- 1:30through this and also application to our lives and how
- 1:34the these scriptures may affect us.
- 1:39We ask this in Jesus name, Amen. OK, let's get started here.
- 1:45Chapter 31 at that time declares the Lord, I will be the God of
- 1:52all the families of Israel and they will be my people.
- 1:57Now pay attention to a few things here.
- 2:00First of all, the chapter 30, if you went through that, we talked
- 2:07about how this is a future prophecy, like our future
- 2:10prophecy. This is still applicable to us
- 2:13in the future. It's, you know, perhaps during
- 2:17the Millennium, but there is there's definitely certain
- 2:21things that are stated that did not have not been fulfilled and
- 2:27they are still to be fulfilled. And it said the last line of
- 2:31chapter 30 said in days to come you will understand this.
- 2:36So I think we're starting to get a little bit more revelation
- 2:42understanding from when we read scripture and today, because a
- 2:48lot of people are are getting insights to this scripture and
- 2:53understanding things that before were really confusing.
- 2:56So again, this says I will be the God of all the families of
- 3:00Israel. Remember this Jeremiah was
- 3:05talking to the people of Judah, the people of Israel.
- 3:09The 10 tribes that were in Israel were already captured by
- 3:12Assyria at this point. Judah is the last remnant of,
- 3:17you know, I guess Judah and Benjamin were the last remnant
- 3:20of the people that called themselves Israel, the southern
- 3:24Kingdom. And they were, they were the
- 3:27ones who were remaining. But this is interesting because
- 3:31it says at that time declares the Lord, I will be the God of,
- 3:36of all the families of Israel and they will be my people.
- 3:41So it seems to be more inclusive of the northern 10 tribes as
- 3:47well as the southern 2 tribes known as Judah.
- 3:51So are that we're under the territory of Judah.
- 3:54So to me, this seems like it is actually talking about all the
- 3:59families and this is in the future.
- 4:01So this is what the Lord says. The people who survived the
- 4:05sword will find favor in the wilderness.
- 4:10I will come to give rest to Israel.
- 4:15To me, this is about Jesus returning.
- 4:19I will come to give rest to Israel, to all the people.
- 4:25And it says the people who survived the sword will find
- 4:28favor in the wilderness. It doesn't make sense when we
- 4:33apply it to Babylon. Of course, the people who stayed
- 4:37in the city were the ones who were going to be destroyed by
- 4:41the sword. Anybody who decided to say
- 4:44that's the prophecy that Jeremiah gave them, he said, you
- 4:47know, go in exile to the to the Babylonian city and Mary, have
- 4:54children, make the city prosperous, do all these things.
- 4:58That's what the Lord told Jeremiah to tell the people.
- 5:03But now when we're reading this, it's saying the people who
- 5:07survived the sword will find favor in the wilderness.
- 5:12So there's this, like, hidden place that they were going to go
- 5:16to. But God was saying anybody who
- 5:18was in Jerusalem from Jeremiah's time frame was going to be
- 5:25tracked down by sword. Famine or plague.
- 5:28I think that was it. So how can this be the prophecy
- 5:33of during Jeremiah's time? It seems like this is a future
- 5:38prophecy that pertains to us and to our time.
- 5:42And the other thing that made me think about this was that who
- 5:48find favor in the wilderness. So I got to find that scripture
- 5:54because the wilderness is is this is really interesting when
- 5:58it talks about it. I have to find I have so many
- 6:01tabs open. So this might take me a minute
- 6:04to find it. But the wilderness is a is a
- 6:09very prophetic place and it's talked about in the future sense
- 6:14of Bible prophecy. And oh boy, sorry, there's so
- 6:19many tabs. There was just so much that I
- 6:23saw when I OK, here it is finally.
- 6:26All right. So listen to this in OK, so when
- 6:34they, when the Israelites came out of Egypt, they were
- 6:39wandering in the wilderness for 40 years.
- 6:41So they were wandering there and God provided for them while they
- 6:44were there. Now in the future sense, we go
- 6:47to the Book of Revelation and it says in Revelation chapter 12
- 6:52verse 6, the woman who is Israel fled into the wilderness to a
- 7:00place prepared for her by God where she might be taken care of
- 7:06for 1260 days. That's 3 1/2 years.
- 7:15Now something interesting about 3 1/2 years, a lot of people
- 7:20talk about the seven years of tribulation, but there's this,
- 7:24it's split in two. There's a midpoint where the
- 7:28initial part is tribulation and then the latter part is wrath.
- 7:34And in the Greek there are different words.
- 7:38I think it's like triplos or something like that for
- 7:41tribulation and then orge for wrath.
- 7:46But there are actually two different words that are used if
- 7:49you go to the original Greek. So the first part is
- 7:54tribulation, but I don't. I believe the great tribulation
- 7:59that's referred to in Bible prophecy is the last 3 1/2
- 8:03years. And so during this last 3 1/2
- 8:08years God already has a plan. This is my understanding of this
- 8:12as I was reading through this is God has a wilderness plan for a
- 8:18remnant of Israel for 3 1/2 years during this wrathful this
- 8:24time of wrath. And here's another verse that
- 8:28also talks about it on in Revelation chapter 12, verse 14,
- 8:35the woman Israel was given the two wings of a great eagle.
- 8:41Now, I'm not really sure what the two wings of a great eagle
- 8:44is. This is symbolic and I think we
- 8:47just have to keep our minds open.
- 8:49It is something of strength and that's all that I think we can
- 8:55because sometimes then eagle is referred to as an unclean animal
- 8:59and then other times it's, I think there is one time where
- 9:05it's more of a holy thing. I think that's in Isaiah where
- 9:09you will ride on eagle's wings or something to that effect.
- 9:12I need to look up that scripture.
- 9:14I didn't think about that one until just now when I'm talking
- 9:18about the eagle's wings. So I'm going to see if I can
- 9:21find that and hopefully this will OK, this is OK, Here's this
- 9:29is good. I'm I, it was Isaiah and Exodus.
- 9:32OK here. This is really important.
- 9:35You yourself, OK, in first, in Exodus chapter 19, verse 4, you
- 9:40yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and how I carried you
- 9:48on eagle's wings and brought you to myself.
- 9:54So this is God on eagle's wings. I don't really even that.
- 9:59I don't know except, you know, there was this, this, you know,
- 10:03that this cloud that covered them during the day to prevent
- 10:07the heat from scorching them, and then there was a fire that
- 10:10guided them at night. So God provided whatever it
- 10:14specifically is, it's God's holy presence there that is providing
- 10:20for the people. And this is what he did in in
- 10:25Egypt for them when they came out of a slavery.
- 10:29And then in Isaiah chapter 40 verse 31, it said, but those who
- 10:35hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
- 10:40They will soar on wings like eagles.
- 10:45They will run and not grow weary.
- 10:47They will walk and not be faint. So they will soar on wings like
- 10:54eagles, like God again is providing, He's giving, you
- 10:58know, it seems like all their strength is gone, but God is
- 11:02going to give that boost of, of endurance and they will run and
- 11:07not go grow weary. They will walk and not be faint.
- 11:11So there's a couple times here about the wings of an eagle.
- 11:16And I think that is really significant about this, this
- 11:22passage about the wilderness, because the same thing, the
- 11:26Bible is very repetitious and it seems like God does similar
- 11:30things. And here he is saying the people
- 11:33who survived the sword or the war will find favor in the
- 11:38wilderness. I will come to give rest to
- 11:43Israel. When Jesus returns, He is he
- 11:48comes back because all the nations are against Israel.
- 11:52And but this is also like, I will come to give rest to
- 11:56Israel. So is this God providing for the
- 12:01remnant in the wilderness like he did during the Exodus, which
- 12:07the Exodus is very symbolic of the future also when we get into
- 12:13the end of the age. So I just think there's
- 12:16something to ponder and think about because it could be, you
- 12:25know, the protection during Jacob's trouble for some.
- 12:29The people who survive the Lord appeared to us in the past
- 12:34saying, I have loved you with an everlasting love.
- 12:37I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
- 12:41I will build you up again, and you, virgin Israel, will be
- 12:46rebuilt again. You will take up your timbrels
- 12:50and go out to dance with the joyful again.
- 12:54You will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria.
- 12:58So this is kind of interesting because Samaria is the West Bank
- 13:01and there's going to be vineyards on the hills of
- 13:04Samaria. I don't know what exists there
- 13:06today, but this is talking about Israel having vineyards on the
- 13:11hills of Samaria. The farmers will plant them and
- 13:14enjoy their fruit. So the study Bible says, why did
- 13:18God call the people Virgin Israel?
- 13:21This phrase showed how radically God's people had changed.
- 13:25Israel had once been pure and chosen by God.
- 13:30But Israel, that is the people of Judah, for they were for for
- 13:36they were all that remained of the nation of Israel, had lost
- 13:41their virginity by prostituting herself with other lovers.
- 13:45Israel was unfaithful to the Lord, giving her love and
- 13:49affection to false gods and idols.
- 13:53Again, it was just idolatry Again, that's the same thing
- 13:56that happened when they, you know, right after God gave him
- 13:59the 10 commandments, they made a golden calf and started
- 14:03worshipping it. So idolatry has always been an
- 14:06issue for let's just say all humans, but specifically Israel
- 14:11is what the history that's found in the Bible talks about.
- 14:16South. Continuing on what Jeremiah was
- 14:19speaking about, there will be a day which makes me think about
- 14:24the day of the Lord. Also, there will be a day when
- 14:27the Watchmen cry out on the hills of Ephraim.
- 14:31Come, let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God.
- 14:37So is this when Jesus returns and reigns as king during the
- 14:43Millennium for the 1000 years? Come, let us go up to Zion, to
- 14:48the Lord our God. There will be a day when
- 14:52Watchmen cry out on the hills of Ephraim.
- 14:56So again, this is what I think. It's really, I think it's
- 15:00something future. Here's what the study Bible
- 15:02says. What was the role of these
- 15:04Watchmen on the hills? Watchmen were stationed on the
- 15:09city walls primarily to watch for an approaching enemy.
- 15:13However, here the Watchmen were stationed on the hills and
- 15:17according to Jewish tradition, their responsibility was to
- 15:21observe the phases of the moon and give notice of a new moon,
- 15:28which is really interesting too, which marked the most important
- 15:34festivals. Fulfilling their responsibility,
- 15:38the cry of the Watchmen announced that it was time to go
- 15:44to meet the Lord in Zion, which is Jerusalem.
- 15:48This is a picture not a fear of danger, but of a time of
- 15:53celebration. The time had come for a new moon
- 15:57festival to be observed in Jerusalem.
- 16:02So it'd be interesting to see which festivals there were many
- 16:07festivals that and the I believe I'm jumping around here.
- 16:11My mind is just going fast. But I believe there's also
- 16:14trumpet sounds during the new moon.
- 16:16That's one of the times when the trumpet is sounded.
- 16:20So all these like little clues do make me think that this could
- 16:23very well be when Jesus returns. I don't know.
- 16:29This is what the Lord says. Sing with joy for Jacob, shout
- 16:34for the foremost of the nations, make your praises heard and say
- 16:40Lord save your people the remnant of Israel.
- 16:46So of course that's Judah would be the remnant of Israel.
- 16:50But I also thought could it also be the 144,000?
- 16:55Those are 12,000 from 12 tribes. But it's really interesting
- 17:02because the tribe of Dan is missing and I think the tribe
- 17:09of, oh gosh, there's, I'm trying to think now I've forgotten
- 17:14there's a couple different tribes that are missing on it.
- 17:20I need to find that out too, because that's going to bother
- 17:23me. But let's see.
- 17:27In the 144,000 it lists that it's in the Book of Revelation,
- 17:37and it said the number. It says that.
- 17:39Then I heard the number of those who were sealed, 144,000 from
- 17:44all the tribes of Israel. But what's interesting about
- 17:49this is that it names the tribes.
- 17:52So it says there's 12,000 from Judah, 12,000 from Reuben,
- 17:5812,000 from Gad. I'll just name the tribes Asher,
- 18:03Naftali, Manasseh, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulon, Joseph and
- 18:13Benjamin. So you notice Dan is not there.
- 18:18And then who is the other one? Ephraim, I guess.
- 18:23Ephraim, Yeah, Ephraim's not there because remember Joseph,
- 18:32Joseph's portion was divided up and given to his sons Ephraim
- 18:38and Manasseh by Jacob on his deathbed.
- 18:43And but Manasseh is listed as 12,000.
- 18:48But Ephraim and Dan are not. It isn't that interesting too
- 18:53that Ephraim. I guess that's Ephraim.
- 18:57I don't know how to if I pronounce this correctly, but
- 18:59it's isn't it interesting that it's talking about on the hills
- 19:02of Ephraim? So if Ephraim is missing from
- 19:08the 12,000 tribes and Dan, the tribe of Dan is not included in
- 19:14that 144,000 And this is about I heard the number of those who
- 19:19were sealed from all the tribes of Israel.
- 19:21Now these are angels who seal the IT says.
- 19:27Then I saw another, I saw another Angel coming up from the
- 19:30east having the seal of the living God.
- 19:33He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been
- 19:38given power to harm the land and the sea.
- 19:43Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal
- 19:50on the foreheads of the servants of our God.
- 19:54So there must be like these, some faithful ones that are
- 20:00among these, and they are somehow marked by angels before
- 20:06the destruction comes about. So then it says, going back to
- 20:12the book of Jeremiah, see, I will bring them from the land of
- 20:16the north and gather them from the ends of the earth.
- 20:22Now this is another thing that's very interesting when we hear
- 20:28gathering them from the ends of the earth.
- 20:32That's something that again is in the Book of Revelation and it
- 20:37talks about the gathering and and not even in the Gospels too.
- 20:41So I had found that somewhere and this is, I don't know where
- 20:49I put that one. OK, I found it.
- 20:52So in Jeremiah 31, verse 8, which is what we read.
- 20:56See, I will bring them from the land of the north and gather
- 20:59them from the ends of the earth. Among them will be the blind and
- 21:04the lame, expectant mothers and women in labor.
- 21:09A great throng will return. Well, that's I guess that's not
- 21:15the verse that we were. Yes, I guess that is where.
- 21:18Oh, I didn't read all of that earlier.
- 21:21OK, then. It's also in Mark, one of the
- 21:27Gospels, Mark chapter 13. Now this is Jesus talking about
- 21:32this. OK, so Mark chapter 13 verse 27,
- 21:37it says and he referring to Jesus will send his angels and
- 21:42gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the
- 21:48earth to the ends of the heavens.
- 21:52And this all in context. Like if we back up a couple
- 21:58verses and we go to verse 24 in Mark chapter 13, it says but in
- 22:04those days following that distress, the sun will be
- 22:10darkened and the moon will not give its light.
- 22:15The stars will fall from the sky and the heavenly bodies will be
- 22:19shaken at that time. So all this calamity and
- 22:24distress is going on at that time.
- 22:28The people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great
- 22:34power and glory, and he will send his angels and gather his
- 22:38elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the
- 22:42ends of the heavens. So to me, this really sounds
- 22:45like if you put it on a flow chart of things that happen,
- 22:51there's going to be this great distress.
- 22:54We're going to see it in the sky.
- 22:55The sun's going to be dark. The moon will not give its
- 22:57light. The stars will fall from the sky
- 23:00and that mean and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
- 23:04The stars are in the Book of Revelation as representative of
- 23:09angels, and I believe those are the fallen angels will be no
- 23:13longer allowed to be in the heavenly realms anymore.
- 23:18So God said he was going to do one more shaking at that point.
- 23:22And then it also says like, woe to the earth because these
- 23:25ain't, you know, these, I guess all of these beings who rebelled
- 23:28against God are being thrown down to the earth.
- 23:31I mean, Satan's part of that too, because there is going to
- 23:34be tremendous wrath that comes onto the earth and, and those
- 23:41who believe in Jesus, it says they are not, we are not
- 23:46appointed to wrath. So at that point, I believe is
- 23:51when Jesus gathers his people before the wrath happens.
- 23:56But there is the distress that happens prior to and it's it's
- 24:04it says, you know, it's going to be pretty.
- 24:07You know, it's if God, if the Lord had not cut short those
- 24:10days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect
- 24:14whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.
- 24:17So for the people who have prepared themselves, Jesus will
- 24:23be returning for those people. And because it says in verse 19
- 24:28of Mark chapter 13 says because those days, because those will
- 24:34be days of distress unequalled from the beginning when God
- 24:40created the world until now and never to be equaled again.
- 24:44But if the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would
- 24:47survive. So there's going to be something
- 24:49tremendous that many, many, many people are going to see and know
- 24:58that it's happening. And it's going to be so severe
- 25:01that nothing that has ever happened on earth in history
- 25:06anywhere is going to be even nowhere near equal to that.
- 25:14And this stuff is going to happen first.
- 25:16So I think that's mentally we all need to prepare ourselves.
- 25:19Just slow down and read scripture.
- 25:22Just read Mark chapter 13 and see the sequence of events
- 25:28because mentally I think we need to be prepared for this.
- 25:31Yes, Jesus is coming to gather his elect, to gather his chosen
- 25:36to keep them out of wrath. And it does say that the even
- 25:42the people of Israel, there's a remnant, a small portion of
- 25:48Israel that will be protected with these eagle's wings that we
- 25:52were talking about. But I think that a lot of people
- 25:55are thinking they're not going to have tribulation.
- 25:58They're not going to have this great tribulation, which it does
- 26:03to me look very clear in the Bible that it will come about
- 26:09and it's going to be pretty significant for all of us.
- 26:13And and there's going to be a moment where it says at that
- 26:18time, if anyone says to you, look here is the Messiah or look
- 26:20there he is. Don't believe it for false
- 26:22messiahs and prophets will appear and perform signs and
- 26:25wonders to deceive. If possible, even the elect be
- 26:29on your on your guard. I have told you everything ahead
- 26:31of time, but in those days following that distress, so once
- 26:37we see, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its
- 26:40light, the stars will fall from the sky and the heavenly bodies
- 26:45will be shaken. At that time, the people will
- 26:48see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and
- 26:51glory, and He will send His angels and gather his elect from
- 26:55the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the
- 26:58heavens. So that's where it ties in the
- 27:02gathering from the ends of the earth.
- 27:05This is what this is what my mind went to when I heard this.
- 27:10And and when you search in the Bible, the gathering to the ends
- 27:14of the earth, the only time that it's referencing that is in
- 27:19Jeremiah, which we're reading and we're trying to understand.
- 27:22And then in Mark chapter 13, verse 27.
- 27:26However, there is also in Matthew chapter 24, which says
- 27:33verses 29 through 31 says this, another gospel immediately
- 27:38after. After the distress of those
- 27:41days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its
- 27:45light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies
- 27:49will be shaken. Then will appear the sign of the
- 27:55Son of Man in heaven, and then all the peoples of the earth
- 27:59will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of
- 28:05heaven with power and great glory.
- 28:08And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they
- 28:14will gather his elect from the four winds from one end of the
- 28:19heavens to the other. So there's that gathering.
- 28:23And then in Luke chapter 21, verses 25 through 28, it says
- 28:29there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars.
- 28:35So that's just like, you know, sun will be darkened, the moon
- 28:37will not give its light, the stars will fall.
- 28:39So Luke says the same thing, but he just says there will be signs
- 28:42in the sun, moon, and stars on the Earth.
- 28:45Nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and
- 28:51tossing of the sea. That's a little bit different
- 28:55description. Like he's giving some insight
- 28:57about the sea. Roaring and tossing of the sea.
- 29:03People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming
- 29:09on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken at that
- 29:14time. They will see the Son of Man
- 29:18coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
- 29:21When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your
- 29:26heads because your redemption is drawing near.
- 29:30So to me it seems like look for the sun to be darkened.
- 29:34The moon will not give its light, and the stars fall from
- 29:37the sky. There's going to be something
- 29:39significant and there's something about the sea here,
- 29:42the roaring and tossing of the sea.
- 29:45Just remember the words of the Bible.
- 29:47Don't speculate, but be observant about what's happening
- 29:50in the world. Remember what Scripture says and
- 29:53don't change the words of Scripture to match like a
- 29:56current event that's happening. I see a lot of people doing that
- 30:00where they they think they know what this prophecy means and
- 30:03then they say, well, here's what it says about it and it's
- 30:06somebody's opinion. But I think if we just memorize
- 30:09what does Scripture say? And then maybe when it happens,
- 30:13we'll actually recognize it. But so this this whole like see
- 30:19going back to Jeremiah, see, I will bring them from the land of
- 30:22the north again. This is a common thing that I'm
- 30:25seeing is that there are some, there must be people that are
- 30:29captured in the north, that Jesus is going to free and
- 30:35gather them from the ends of the earth.
- 30:37Among them will be the blind and the lame, expectant mothers and
- 30:42women in labor. A great throng will return.
- 30:45They will come with weeping. They they will pray as I bring
- 30:51them back. I will lead them beside streams
- 30:56of water on a level path where they will not stumble because I
- 31:03am Israel's father. I think right there it's talking
- 31:09about Jesus. As soon as I read that tonight,
- 31:12this lead them beside streams of water that stood out to me and I
- 31:20was like, that's Jesus, He's the shepherd.
- 31:23And that is Psalms 23. So we let me read Psalm 23.
- 31:30It's really short, a Psalm of David.
- 31:33The Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing.
- 31:37He makes me lie down in green pastures.
- 31:41He leads me beside quiet waters. So this is talking about the
- 31:46Lord. He refreshes my soul.
- 31:49He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake.
- 31:55Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no
- 32:01evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they
- 32:06comfort me. You prepare a table before me in
- 32:11the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil.
- 32:17My cup overflows. Surely the good, your goodness
- 32:21and love will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell
- 32:27in the House of the Lord forever.
- 32:31So these a lot of the Psalms are actually prophetic and I didn't
- 32:35realize that at first. I just thought they were simple
- 32:37like songs or poems, but they have a lot of prophecy in there.
- 32:42And David had a lot of he said a lot of prophetic things.
- 32:46Some of the words of David were words that Jesus spoke on the
- 32:50cross as he died. So there's there's a lot and
- 32:54then the the shepherd being Jesus, I'm going to show you
- 33:00some proof in the Bible that you know, we do here.
- 33:04I mean, everybody's kind of heard that probably the Lord is
- 33:06a shepherd. Jesus is the Good Shepherd, but
- 33:09where is it in the Bible? So here's what this is kind of
- 33:16interesting. Well, let's just go back a
- 33:18little bit. This isn't super clear here, but
- 33:20it's important. Isaiah chapter 63 verse 11.
- 33:26Then his people recalled the days of old, the days of Moses
- 33:30and his people. Where is he who brought them
- 33:34through the sea with the shepherd of his flock?
- 33:40Isn't that interesting? Jesus was he.
- 33:43It said the Lord's Angel LED them, and the Angel is also a
- 33:47messenger. And I wonder if it was actually
- 33:51Jesus who led. And this is where, you know that
- 33:55it's kind of blending in him with the shepherd of his flock.
- 33:58Where is he who set his Holy Spirit among them?
- 34:04Now we know from the New Testament that Jesus sends the
- 34:09Holy Spirit to his disciples. So again, this seems like it's
- 34:16Jesus. And and then Zachariah says,
- 34:20awake, sword against my shepherd, against the man who is
- 34:24close to me, declares the Lord Almighty, strike the shepherd
- 34:28and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against
- 34:33the little ones. So Jesus talks about this verse
- 34:40from Zechariah. Jesus told them this is in
- 34:44Matthew chapter 26 verse 31. Then Jesus told them, this very
- 34:50night you will all fall away on account of me.
- 34:55For it is written, I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of
- 34:59the flock will be scattered. So this is when the disciples,
- 35:03the followers of Christ denied Jesus, they didn't want to be
- 35:08associated with him. They were hidden because he got
- 35:11killed. He not well, he died on the
- 35:15cross. He willingly died on the cross.
- 35:19And so that's really interesting.
- 35:22And then in Mark chapter 14, verse 27, you will all fall
- 35:27away. Jesus told them, for it is
- 35:30written, I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will be
- 35:34scattered. So what happened?
- 35:37They are in fact, when Jesus appeared to him after he
- 35:41resurrected, they were locked inside of a house in an upper
- 35:45room. They were trying to be hidden
- 35:47from everybody. They knew Jesus just was
- 35:50crucified and then Jesus appears.
- 35:53So this is, you know, as Jesus said, you will all fall away,
- 35:59you'll all you'll all be scattered and, and Jesus is
- 36:03comparing himself to the shepherd.
- 36:08And then in John verse 10 or chapter 10, verse 2, it says the
- 36:13one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
- 36:20And then in in verse 12, the hired hand is not the shepherd
- 36:27and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming,
- 36:32he abandons the sheep and runs away.
- 36:34Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.
- 36:40Let's see. And then in in first Peter
- 36:42chapter 2 verse 25, it says for you were like sheep going
- 36:47astray, but now you have returned to the shepherd and the
- 36:52overseer of your souls. So the Lord is the shepherd and
- 36:58he leads us by besides quiet waters.
- 37:05So just like Jeremiah said, I will lead them besides streams
- 37:09of water. This again seems to be the
- 37:12return of Jesus, Jesus's presence.
- 37:16So continuing on, it says on a level path they will not stumble
- 37:21because I am Israel's father and Ephraim is my first born son.
- 37:29And and so I, I kind of wondered luck.
- 37:32That's confusing to me. I don't know about Ephraim, but
- 37:36it's interesting that they are not listed in the 12 tribes that
- 37:42are the 144,000. They are not included in that.
- 37:46And the other part that's interesting is that Jacob put
- 37:50Ephraim before Manasa. I think it was Jacob.
- 37:56I might have gotten names mixed up sometimes I do, but I think
- 38:01when he was giving his blessings, I think so.
- 38:06I think he, he, even though Manasa was born first, gave for
- 38:10him, did that. And that was very much like
- 38:13Jacob and Esau because Esau was the first one.
- 38:17But Jacob got it, you know, he was given the because Esau gave
- 38:22away his birthright, which he was supposed to get much more
- 38:27than he did, but he was hungry and wanted some soup and he gave
- 38:30away his birthright for something, you know, immediate,
- 38:34an immediate need that he had. He gave away his inheritance.
- 38:39And it's kind. That's kind of a warning to all
- 38:40of us, like when we know that the Kingdom of God is our
- 38:45inheritance. If we are considered children of
- 38:48God, if we have repented and turned to God and received,
- 38:55we're born again, born of the Holy Spirit, receive the Holy
- 38:59Spirit, we are children of God. And that that's really
- 39:04significant. We don't want to give up that
- 39:08and lose our inheritance. You know, at this at this time,
- 39:12right now, Jesus hasn't yet returned.
- 39:15So if we should really prepare ourselves for the return of
- 39:19Jesus and make sure that we're not going to lose that and, you
- 39:25know, fall asleep and not be prepared, not have the oil in
- 39:29our lamp. That's another metaphor about
- 39:31the 10 virgins. Don't be the ones that aren't
- 39:34prepared for his coming, for his arrival, because we often see
- 39:40that the, and even Jesus says the first will be last and the
- 39:43last will be first. So this has been shown
- 39:48throughout the Bible, Jacob and Esau.
- 39:50Jacob or Esau was first, then Jacob or Esau came up first, but
- 39:56then Jacob ended up with the first birthright.
- 39:59And then the same thing with Ephraim and or Ephraim and
- 40:03Manasseh, that was switched up too.
- 40:07So there's and then you also have Rachel and Leah because
- 40:14Jacob loved Rachel and he wanted to marry her, but then Laban put
- 40:21Leah with Jacob on his wedding night and then made him work 7
- 40:26more years to get Rachel. And I think there's something
- 40:28prophetic in that too, which I'll talk about a little bit.
- 40:32So anyway, let's talk about what the Study Bible says for these
- 40:36verses. When would Israel be gathered
- 40:38from the ends of the earth? To Jeremiah's listeners, Assyria
- 40:42and Babylon seem like the most remote parts of the world.
- 40:46They understood the prophecy to mean that the Jewish captives
- 40:48would return from those distant lands, but only if they again
- 40:53became faithful to God. Some here see the migration of
- 40:57Jews to the Land of Israel and the formation of the modern
- 41:01state of Israel after World War Two.
- 41:04Others say present day Israel could not be meant since it has
- 41:09not yet met the conditions of the promise in terms of the New
- 41:14Covenant. Only through faith in Christ can
- 41:17Jews as well as Gentiles receive God's salvation and restoration.
- 41:23Well, I think this is also because I don't think this
- 41:27prophecy has been fulfilled yet. I think this is coming when
- 41:31Jesus returns, and it just seems to fit that much better than the
- 41:36prophecy back in Jeremiah's time.
- 41:41Then Jeremiah continues, verse 10.
- 41:43Hear the word of the Lord. You nations proclaim it in
- 41:46distant coast lands. He who scattered Israel will
- 41:51gather them, and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.
- 41:58For the Lord will deliver Jacob and redeem them from the hand of
- 42:04those stronger than them. Is that the spiritual redemption
- 42:10is the are the spiritual who are stronger like evil spiritual
- 42:15things that are stronger, but God is redeeming them from the
- 42:19hand, the oppressor, the one who's coming against him, the
- 42:23nations that hate Israel. And that's who God is going to
- 42:27defend Israel from the enemies of Israel, which is also a
- 42:34future thing that happens. I do want to go back to the part
- 42:42where I think we talked about the, the spirit.
- 42:47Oh, in Exodus where they were talking about the Spirit, the
- 42:53advocate, it says, but the advocate, the Holy Spirit whom
- 42:57the Father will send in my name, this is Jesus talking.
- 43:01We'll teach you all things and remind you of everything I have
- 43:04said to you. These were like Jesus is
- 43:07departing words to his his disciples.
- 43:11And then he says, when the advocate comes, whom I will send
- 43:15to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who goes out
- 43:20from the Father, he will testify about me.
- 43:25And then he also says, but very truly I tell you, it is good for
- 43:31good, that I'm going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate
- 43:36will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to
- 43:41you. So here's the this is the Holy
- 43:43Spirit who Jesus is giving to us, that the Holy Spirit comes
- 43:54from Jesus. So when it says that when Jesus
- 43:57says I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to
- 44:00the Father except through me, there's multiple meanings.
- 44:04First of all, his death on the cross made it possible for us to
- 44:09get into the Kingdom of God. It made it possible, his death
- 44:14and resurrection. He was raised by the Holy
- 44:18Spirit, the Holy Spirit from God.
- 44:22He is the one. Jesus is the one who gives the
- 44:24Holy Spirit. Jesus also says in John chapter
- 44:283 that unless you are born of the Spirit, you cannot enter the
- 44:35Kingdom of God. We need the Holy Spirit and
- 44:38Jesus promises the Holy Spirit to his followers.
- 44:42He receives the Holy Spirit from the Father.
- 44:47So and then so John chapter 14, John chapter 15, John chapter
- 44:5416, those are all And also first John chapter 2.
- 45:00John was the one disciple who claimed to be the closest to.
- 45:03He thought he was the one that Jesus loved.
- 45:05So he was with Jesus. He heard all of these things and
- 45:09he's explaining this to people. Jesus is the one who sends the
- 45:13Holy Spirit, the Advocate, the Advocate comma, the Holy Spirit
- 45:18whom the Father will send in my name.
- 45:20So the advocate is defined as the Holy Spirit.
- 45:25In John chapter 14 verse 16, it says, and I will ask the Father
- 45:30and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with
- 45:35you forever. And then in first John chapter 2
- 45:40verse one, my dear children, I write this to you so that you
- 45:45will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have
- 45:51an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 So
- 45:56Jesus is also listed as the Advocate as well, but Jesus
- 46:04promises the Advocate as the Holy Spirit that comes.
- 46:09So anyway, this is, there's a lot in there alone.
- 46:15But again, I really do believe that this prophecy in Jeremiah
- 46:1931 is the future one that has not yet been fulfilled.
- 46:25So let's continue reading. Let's see.
- 46:33Hear the word of the Lord. You nations proclaim it in the
- 46:35lands. OK, I think I've read that
- 46:38already. The Lord will deliver Jacob and
- 46:43redeem them from the hands of those stronger than he.
- 46:46So here's what the study Bible says.
- 46:48How would God redeem Jacob? God had sold Israel to Pagan
- 46:52nations, giving them ownership of His people.
- 46:57To redeem means to buy back. As the Lord had redeemed his
- 47:02people from Egyptian slavery, so now he would redeem their
- 47:06descendants from Babylon exile. God did this by judging the
- 47:10oppressing nations, moving the hearts of kings to act on his
- 47:13people's behalf, and stirring the hearts of his people to
- 47:16return to Jerusalem. So that could all well be, but I
- 47:22believe it's more than that. Jesus redeemed us by the payment
- 47:27he made on the cross for us. That is ultimately how Jesus
- 47:32bought us back. But the Israelites back He
- 47:36that's the price that he paid. He redeemed us on the cross.
- 47:41His death on the cross was the payment for our sins.
- 47:46So it, you know, it does say like God sold.
- 47:50And I am going to get into a study about slavery because I
- 47:53think that is very much ties into this and how we are all
- 47:58slaves essentially. But I don't want to get too
- 48:01sidetracked from here. So let's go back to Scripture.
- 48:05They will come and shout in verse 12.
- 48:08They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion.
- 48:11They will rejoice in the bounty of the Lord, the grain, the new
- 48:15wine and the olive oil, the young of the flocks and the
- 48:18herds. They will be like a well watered
- 48:21garden and they will sorrow no more.
- 48:25Well, that hasn't happened yet. Has Israel sorrowed no more?
- 48:31No, this is a future fulfillment.
- 48:35And we see this occurring in Revelation chapter 21, verse 4.
- 48:41Here's what it says. He will wipe away, or he will
- 48:45wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or
- 48:54mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has
- 49:01passed away. So this is the eternal
- 49:05fulfillment of what this prophecy says.
- 49:09So again, this is way into the future.
- 49:12I would say this is after the thousand year reign of Christ
- 49:15because there will still be death at that point.
- 49:17Death is the last thing that Jesus conquers, and I believe
- 49:22that's at the end of the thousand years that that is
- 49:25conquered. So until then there will be.
- 49:30But again, like I said, this, this prophecy in Jeremiah 31 is
- 49:35a way far off into the future still, and maybe not so far off.
- 49:39I don't know when Jesus is returning, but we can speculate.
- 49:45Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as
- 49:49well. I will turn their mourning into
- 49:52gladness. I will give them comfort and joy
- 49:55instead of sorrow. I will satisfy the priest with
- 49:58abundance, and my people will be filled with my bounty, declares
- 50:03the Lord. This is what the Lord says.
- 50:06A voice is heard in Rama, mourning and great weeping.
- 50:11Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted
- 50:16because they are no more. So there's a lot here I'm going
- 50:20to read what the study Bible says it's it says morning and
- 50:24great weeping. Matthew saw the fulfillment of
- 50:28this passage in Herod's order to massacre the boys 2 years old
- 50:34and under. So this is like Rachel weeping
- 50:38for his for her children because this verse is quoted in Matthew
- 50:44and let's see what it says when. OK, so when Herod, let's read
- 50:53Matthew chapter 2 verse 16, when Herod realized that he had been
- 51:00outwitted by the Magi. This is when Jesus was born and
- 51:05he was trying to find out where Jesus was.
- 51:08So Herod, he was furious and he gave orders to kill all the boys
- 51:13in Bethlehem and it's vicinity who were two years old and under
- 51:20in accordance with the time He had learned from the Magi.
- 51:25Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled.
- 51:31A voice is heard in Rama weeping and great warning.
- 51:35Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted
- 51:39because they are no more. So he was seeing that as a
- 51:44fulfillment when Herod was killing all the boys two years
- 51:50and under. So where was Rama?
- 51:53Rama means height, so it is the name of many cities.
- 51:58Because cities had a preference for being located on on high
- 52:01ground as a protection from enemies.
- 52:05This particular city is probably to be identified with modern
- 52:11Eram, which is about 5 miles north of Jerusalem.
- 52:16This location served as one of the deportation Centers for
- 52:19those going into exile. It was reoccupied after the Jews
- 52:25returned to the land. And then there's a another
- 52:29question. Did Matthew misuse this verse?
- 52:33New Testament writers sometimes quoted the Old Testament to show
- 52:38how a prophecy had been fulfilled.
- 52:40Other times they quoted it as a previous example or a parallel
- 52:46situation. When King Herod slaughtered the
- 52:49baby boys in and around Bethlehem.
- 52:52Matthew called that atrocity atrocity a fulfillment of this
- 52:56passage. It was more of an emotional
- 52:59parallel, however, than a prediction come true.
- 53:04Jeremiah's passage mirrored the same kind of intense grief that
- 53:09filled Bethlehem after Herod slaughtered the the infants.
- 53:14Jeremiah himself borrowed from Israel's history.
- 53:17When he wrote these words, he recalled the experience of
- 53:21Rachel, Jacob's wife. To paint a picture of grief
- 53:26coming to the nation, dying while in childbirth.
- 53:31Rachel had named her son Ben Onai, meaning son of my trouble,
- 53:38Jacob. Jacob renamed him Benjamin,
- 53:42meaning son of my right hand. Jeremiah used this picture to
- 53:49show that sorrow would come to the tribe of Benjamin.
- 53:54Figuratively, Rachel would weep again when her descendants were
- 53:59killed and carried into captivity.
- 54:03Matthew later later borrowed the imagery again to draw a powerful
- 54:08picture of the terrible sadness caused by Herod's decree.
- 54:12Well, I don't doubt what's written in the Bible, but
- 54:17sometimes I think we don't quite understand for so many different
- 54:22reasons, some of the things that are written in the Bible, either
- 54:25it's the context of what's going on or not all of the details are
- 54:29given. And so it's it's somewhat open
- 54:32to our understanding or our interpretation of what we see
- 54:36written. So of course, you know, if all
- 54:39scripture is God breathed and inspired by the Holy Spirit,
- 54:43then I do not think that it the verse was misused and it should
- 54:49be applicable. This Rama is about I I looked up
- 54:54Rama and I don't even know if it's the same city, but because
- 54:58it there's AI looked up like Rama and and the distance
- 55:04between the town of Benjamin, which Rama was called a town of
- 55:10Benjamin near Jerusalem. I think it's about 20 miles from
- 55:14Jerusalem. The study Bible says about 5
- 55:19miles and but I think I looked up in the blue letter Bible and
- 55:23and to find out where Rama was and I think it said it was near
- 55:27Jerusalem somewhere mourning and great weeping.
- 55:31Now Rachel's children were Joseph and Benjamin, and then
- 55:36Joseph had Manasseh and Ephraim. And it's very interesting
- 55:41because when we talk about Judah and the tribes of that's a that
- 55:46Judah is from Leah. Leah was the wife of Jacob who
- 55:51gave birth to Judah, which formed the tribe of Judah.
- 55:56And Judah is the one who's going to exile.
- 55:59So don't you think that's kind of interesting?
- 56:01If Jeremiah is talking to the remnant of the tribe of Judah,
- 56:06the Kingdom of Judah, then it just the southern tribe.
- 56:13Then why is he talking about Rach?
- 56:19I mean, Benjamin was also in that area too.
- 56:22So Benjamin was also a son to Rachel.
- 56:26And I don't know, there's a lot I don't like.
- 56:29I said. I don't really have an answer to
- 56:32it. But when I saw Rachel weeping
- 56:34for his children, for her, her children and refusing to be
- 56:38comforted, I was like, what about Leah?
- 56:41And then it made me think about the symbolism when Jacob went to
- 56:48marry Rachel, Like God certainly appointed Rachel.
- 56:54God chose Rachel because Isaac sent his servant to find a wife
- 56:59for Jacob. And, you know, the servant said,
- 57:02God, show me a sign and whoever gives me water and offers my
- 57:07camels to drink, that's the one. And that's what Rachel did.
- 57:10So it was very clear that Rachel was the one that Jacob was
- 57:14supposed to be married to. And he worked for Laban for
- 57:19seven years and then went to marry Rachel.
- 57:22But Laban tricked him and put Leah in the room with him, and
- 57:27then he was married to Leah, the older sister.
- 57:31And then Jacob talked to Laban about it and said he wanted to,
- 57:36he really wanted Rachel. And so Laban made him work
- 57:40another seven years. I wonder it's it's been over
- 57:44this past year where it's very interesting that there are these
- 57:49two seven-year segments. One was Leah and one was Rachel.
- 57:55And the two of them are sisters and one is jealous of the other.
- 58:01Leah has more children than Rachel does, but Jacob loved
- 58:06Rachel. And then I, I looked in like
- 58:10different theories about Leah and Rachel as it relates to
- 58:15prophecy. And I did find something where
- 58:19Leah has been, I guess, symbolized as the church, you
- 58:26know, like so and, and in this and then the description was a
- 58:31little bit different the way that I see it.
- 58:32So I'm going to explain like my view on this right now that I'm
- 58:37still exploring and this is an opinion only, but it's very
- 58:42interesting. It's something to think about.
- 58:45Like I was talking about the seven years because there's a
- 58:47lot of symbolism in the Bible. And I do think that maybe Leah
- 58:52could be symbolic for let's say the Gentiles.
- 58:55Let's not call it the church. Let's say non the non Jewish
- 58:59people, the let's say believers. We can call it believers.
- 59:05So Leah represents believers, but Jacob was supposed to marry
- 59:10Rachel. Rachel represents Israel, the
- 59:15the Jewish people, the the the nation of Israel.
- 59:18Let's just say that Rachel represents that.
- 59:21And then Jacob, Jacob is symbolic of of, you know, Jesus
- 59:28or the bridegroom. OK, the bridegroom and that's
- 59:31Jesus. When in prophecy there's the
- 59:35bride and the bridegroom and it's, you know, the believers
- 59:39and Jesus is the bridegroom. So could it be that Jesus gets
- 59:47the non Jews first? Like when he gathers them in the
- 59:52clouds they come to him first and then is it another 7?
- 59:59Is there some kind of like a seven-year period for?
- 1:00:03The people, the believers that they go through some something
- 1:00:06and then is there another seven-year period?
- 1:00:09It's just curiosity. I don't know if there's some
- 1:00:13symbolism in that, but I just think they're the these stories
- 1:00:17and the reality and the prophecy that come from the Bible.
- 1:00:24There's a lot more to it than meets the eye, and it's just
- 1:00:27something to meditate on, think about, research and see if you
- 1:00:32come up, pray about it, especially pray about it and see
- 1:00:35if you come up with something that relates to that at all.
- 1:00:41So I think there's something there between the seven years
- 1:00:44and Rachel and Leah. And the other thing is about the
- 1:00:47jealousy part, because it does say that the gathering of the
- 1:00:56Gentiles are the non Jewish people is to provoke the
- 1:01:03Israelites to for them to be jealous.
- 1:01:08And I guess maybe they come to faith that way.
- 1:01:11So listen to this. This is really interesting to
- 1:01:14provoke to jealousy. So in Deuteronomy, oh wait,
- 1:01:19that's not where I want to. Well, yes, OK, Actually in
- 1:01:23Deuteronomy chapter 32, verse 21 about provoking to jealousy,
- 1:01:29they have provoked me to jealousy by what is not God.
- 1:01:35They have moved me to anger by their foolish idols, but I will
- 1:01:42provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation.
- 1:01:49I will move them to anger by a foolish nation.
- 1:01:53So this like those who are not a nation, Could that be the
- 1:01:58Gentiles, the believers, you know, the ones who were the
- 1:02:02chosen by God, Israel, God chose them first.
- 1:02:06They, that is the his elect, the people he chose not because they
- 1:02:10were better than anyone else, but because God chose them.
- 1:02:14He just decided he was choosing them and he was going to bless
- 1:02:19others through them. So that never changes.
- 1:02:22God has always chosen Israel and will choose Israel, but He's
- 1:02:29going to provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a
- 1:02:33nation. And then in Romans chapter 10,
- 1:02:37it said, but I say, did Israel not know?
- 1:02:41First Moses says, and this is referencing what we just read.
- 1:02:46I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation.
- 1:02:49I will move you to anger by a foolish nation.
- 1:02:53And then Romans 11/11. I say, I say then, have they
- 1:03:01stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not.
- 1:03:05But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy,
- 1:03:10salvation has come to the Gentiles.
- 1:03:14So again this ties in. Remember Rachel and Leah?
- 1:03:18There was jealousy, Leah was jealous of Rachel because Jacob
- 1:03:24loved her or Jacob chose her, but she had a lot of children
- 1:03:29and and remember in scripture it also says greater are the number
- 1:03:33of the desolate one than those are the barren one.
- 1:03:41I it it does, it talks about the desolate woman and the barren
- 1:03:45woman, but I, I think this also ties into Leah and Rachel and it
- 1:03:51says like greater in number are those so again, like salvation
- 1:03:57coming to the gentiles, to the non Jewish people.
- 1:04:02You've got this jealousy. And then if if this falls into
- 1:04:07if this happens the way people think, it's going to happen in
- 1:04:11the way it seems like in Scripture because believers are
- 1:04:13not appointed to wrath. But there is this time of
- 1:04:17Jacob's trouble, which is Israel's trouble.
- 1:04:21And if Jesus, as Scripture says, gathers those who have prepared
- 1:04:27themselves in advance and takes them out of the way before wrath
- 1:04:30occurs, the people who recognize the Son of God now, Jesus being
- 1:04:38the one who comes on the clouds, they know Scripture.
- 1:04:41They know it's from the Old Testament about Jesus coming on
- 1:04:44the clouds. So when the Jewish people see
- 1:04:48that happening, they're going to be jealous when the believers
- 1:04:53are brought up or gathered. And not everybody is like they
- 1:04:57remain. But Scripture to me clearly
- 1:05:00shows that that is what's going to happen.
- 1:05:04And then in Romans 11/14 it says, if by any means I may
- 1:05:09provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of
- 1:05:14them, so provoke to jealousy those who are from my flesh.
- 1:05:20Are these like the native tribes of Israel, the people of Israel
- 1:05:27and you know it? Well, this is actually Paul
- 1:05:32talking here, not Jesus. So, but he's he's, you know,
- 1:05:37trying to stir them up so that some of them may be saved.
- 1:05:44So it's just something I shouldn't have probably talked
- 1:05:47about it because I don't have it all clearly arranged.
- 1:05:49But boy, those thoughts just came to my mind and reading
- 1:05:52this, and I think it's worth exploring further.
- 1:05:55OK, let's go back to verse 16 from Jeremiah 31.
- 1:06:01This is what the Lord says. Restrain your voice from weeping
- 1:06:04and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded,
- 1:06:08declares the Lord. They will return from the land
- 1:06:11of the enemy, so there is hope for your descendants, declares
- 1:06:16the Lord. Your children will return to
- 1:06:19their own land. I have surely heard Ephraim's
- 1:06:24moaning. You know, again, Ephraim is not
- 1:06:28the 144,000. He's not listed, the tribes not
- 1:06:31listed there. But God is saying I've surely
- 1:06:34heard Ephraim's moaning. You discipline me like an unruly
- 1:06:39calf and I have been disciplined.
- 1:06:42Restore me and I will return because you are the Lord my God.
- 1:06:48After I strayed, I repented. That's really important because
- 1:06:55all of us have strayed, but all of us need to repent and get
- 1:06:58close to God and turn back to him.
- 1:07:01God is forgiving while there's still the opportunity to do that
- 1:07:05because that opportunity won't be like once Jesus returns, that
- 1:07:09opportunity is gone and you know, you're, you're not
- 1:07:15prepared. I mean, you have to be prepared
- 1:07:17before Jesus returns. So you're ready at the time when
- 1:07:20he does, whenever that may be. And look at this, what it also
- 1:07:26says in verse 18, it says like Ephraim is complaining, he's
- 1:07:32mourning. He said you disciplined me like
- 1:07:35an unruly calf and I have been disciplined.
- 1:07:39Now God talks about discipline throughout the Bible, and I'm
- 1:07:47just going to read some verses that talk about disciplines.
- 1:07:52So in Deuteronomy 8, verse 5, know then in your heart that as
- 1:07:58a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines
- 1:08:04you. And then in Psalm 94, verse 10,
- 1:08:08does he who disciplines nations not punish?
- 1:08:13Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?
- 1:08:16So God disciplines nations and then in in Proverbs 3, verse 12,
- 1:08:23because the Lord disciplines those he loves as a father, the
- 1:08:29Son he delights in. So God does discipline us, the
- 1:08:35ones he loves. I mean, if you're being
- 1:08:37disciplined by God, it's because He loves you and it further on
- 1:08:43it'll explain that more. Hebrews 12 verse 6, because the
- 1:08:47Lord disciplines the one he loves and He chastens everyone
- 1:08:52He accepts as His son. And then Hebrews 12 verse 10,
- 1:08:59they disciplined. This is talking about fathers.
- 1:09:01They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best, but
- 1:09:07God disciplines us for our good in order that we may share in
- 1:09:15His Holiness. So the discipline that he gives
- 1:09:19us is to make us more holy because God says be holy,
- 1:09:23because I am holy. And so when we experience this
- 1:09:27tough time from God, he's refining us.
- 1:09:31And that's like what Ephraim said moaning about right now.
- 1:09:35He's like, after I strayed, I repented after I came to
- 1:09:39understand because you have to understand your sin and a while,
- 1:09:45for a while, we're kind of strong headed.
- 1:09:48We're, you know, hard hearted. We don't want to change for our
- 1:09:53sin. But then there's a point where
- 1:09:56we understand. And then when he understands
- 1:09:59what happens to us and what what happens to him and what happens
- 1:10:03to us too, is things come out that we don't like.
- 1:10:07Like when we understand, he hears his reaction.
- 1:10:10I beat my breast. I was ashamed and humiliated
- 1:10:14because I bore the disgrace of my youth.
- 1:10:18A lot of us do stupid things when we're younger and we're
- 1:10:22maybe we feel guilt and shame about those things.
- 1:10:27That's not unlike anyone in the Bible.
- 1:10:29You can see right here that this is what he feels like.
- 1:10:32He he recognizes. Oh my gosh, I, I've sinned.
- 1:10:36I've done all these things and now he's beating him.
- 1:10:40You know, he's kind of beating himself.
- 1:10:41He said I beat my breast. I was ashamed and humiliated
- 1:10:44because I bore the disgrace of my youth.
- 1:10:49But you know God is redeeming. So is not Ephraim, my dear, This
- 1:10:55is God, and it's so sweet. Is not Ephraim, my dear Son, the
- 1:10:59child in whom I delight? Though I often speak against
- 1:11:04him, I still remember him. Therefore my heart yearns for
- 1:11:10him. I have great compassion for him,
- 1:11:15declares the Lord. So throughout all of this, God
- 1:11:19just is so loving and merciful and He just wants restoration
- 1:11:26with those He created. He just wants us to love him
- 1:11:30back then it says set up Rd. signs, put up guideposts.
- 1:11:35Take note of the highway, the road that you take return virgin
- 1:11:39Israel, return to your towns. How long will you wander on
- 1:11:44faithful daughter Israel. The Lord will create a new thing
- 1:11:49on earth. The woman will return to the
- 1:11:52man. Now this is another thing that
- 1:11:55could take probably a long time to review, but here's the
- 1:12:00thought that came to my mind. The Lord will create a new thing
- 1:12:04on earth. The woman will return to the
- 1:12:09man. Is this about Israel?
- 1:12:12The woman returning to the Lord? That's just the thought that
- 1:12:17came into my mind as I read it. A new thing on earth.
- 1:12:22Now this to understand the way I understand it, you have to
- 1:12:29remember something and I'm not saying that I know a lot about
- 1:12:32the law, but at this I remember this from the law.
- 1:12:35You have to understand about God's law in Deuteronomy chapter
- 1:12:4124 and he talks about marriage and remember that Jesus is the
- 1:12:51bridegroom and his chosen, well, His bride is really Jerusalem
- 1:12:56and his elect are the people of Israel, the nation.
- 1:13:02And there's a, it's all about a marriage.
- 1:13:06And there throughout the Bible in the Old Testament, God talks
- 1:13:09about sending away, I guess, Israel, the 10 tribes, giving
- 1:13:19Israel a certificate of divorce. And then he says in Judah,
- 1:13:24you're doing the same thing as your sister Israel.
- 1:13:29So the northern Kingdom and the southern Kingdom, first he sent
- 1:13:32away. And that's why they went into
- 1:13:34captivity with Assyria. And then Judah was doing the
- 1:13:39same thing and that's why they went into captivity with
- 1:13:42Babylon. But to understand this whole
- 1:13:46marriage and sending away, putting away and divorcing, we
- 1:13:51have to go back to the beginning of the Bible in Deuteronomy
- 1:13:54chapter 24. So it says if a man takes a wife
- 1:13:58and marries her and it happens that she finds no favor in his
- 1:14:02eyes because he has found some indecency in her, any rights or
- 1:14:07certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out
- 1:14:11of his house. That's what God said he did to
- 1:14:14the 10 tribes of Israel. Because of their idolatry,
- 1:14:18because of their adultery, their spiritual adultery, they started
- 1:14:23worshipping another God or other gods.
- 1:14:26And so he gave the 10 tribes or certificate of divorce.
- 1:14:31So Deuteronomy 24 continues and says, and she goes out of his
- 1:14:35house and goes and becomes another man's wife.
- 1:14:39So because of idolatry, Israel is now, you know, worshipping
- 1:14:44another God. That's not God.
- 1:14:47And then it says, And if the latter husband turns against her
- 1:14:51and writes a certificate of divorce and puts it, puts it in
- 1:14:55her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter
- 1:14:59husband dies who took her to be his wife, then the former
- 1:15:04husband who sent her away. I'm just speculating.
- 1:15:08Could this be God that set her away is not allowed to take her
- 1:15:12again to be his wife, since she has been defiled?
- 1:15:16For that is an abomination before Yahweh.
- 1:15:20And you shall not bring sin on the land which Yahweh your God
- 1:15:24gives you as an inheritance. And so the Lord will create a
- 1:15:30new thing on earth. The woman will return to the
- 1:15:34man. Is that Israel returning to the
- 1:15:38Lord? It's just a question.
- 1:15:42And does it have anything to do with this marriage and divorce
- 1:15:46situation and the death of Jesus, You know, because if
- 1:15:50somebody dies, then that releases them from the, you
- 1:15:56know, from being married. So I I just I just wonder if
- 1:16:02that has any relations. So why did God call the people
- 1:16:06virgin Israel and unfaithful daughter.
- 1:16:09These phrases showed how radically God's people had
- 1:16:12changed. Israel had once been pure and
- 1:16:15chosen by God. But Israel that is the people of
- 1:16:18Judah for they were not they were all that remained of the
- 1:16:22nation of Israel had lost her virginity by prostituting
- 1:16:26herself with other lovers. Israel was unfaithful to the
- 1:16:30Lord, giving her love and affection to false gods and
- 1:16:34idols. So it continues.
- 1:16:38We're still not finished yet. So this is what the Lord, the
- 1:16:42Almighty, the God of Israel says.
- 1:16:45When I bring them back from captivity, the people in the
- 1:16:47land of Judah and in its towns will once again use these words.
- 1:16:52The Lord bless you, you prosperous city, you sacred
- 1:16:56mountain. People will live together in
- 1:16:59Judah and all its towns, farmers and those who move about with
- 1:17:04their flocks. I will refresh the weary and
- 1:17:08satisfy the faint again. That sounds like what we read in
- 1:17:12Isaiah about on the wings of the eagle after.
- 1:17:18At this I awoke and looked around.
- 1:17:21My sleep had been pleasant to me.
- 1:17:24So all of this came to Jeremiah in a dream.
- 1:17:28The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will plant the
- 1:17:32kingdoms of Israel and Judah with the offspring of people and
- 1:17:40of animals. Just as I watched over them to
- 1:17:44uproot and tear down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring
- 1:17:48disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant,
- 1:17:53declares the Lord. In those days, people will no
- 1:17:56longer say the parents have eaten sour grapes and the
- 1:17:59children's teeth are set on the edge.
- 1:18:02Instead, everyone will die for their own sin.
- 1:18:07Whoever eats sour grapes, their own teeth will be set on edge.
- 1:18:14So this is some saying and it says the questions answer says
- 1:18:19was this proverb ever true? Not really.
- 1:18:22It was based on the incorrect idea that children are punished
- 1:18:26for the sins of their fathers. Though children do suffer the
- 1:18:30negative effects of their parents bad choices, they are
- 1:18:34not punished for their parents sin.
- 1:18:37Jeremiah, as well as Ezekiel, wanted the people to stop using
- 1:18:41this proverb as an excuse to avoid responsibility for their
- 1:18:46own sins. Sour grapes pucker the mouths of
- 1:18:51those who eat them, not those of anyone else.
- 1:18:55That's what they're saying here. The days are coming, declares
- 1:19:00the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of
- 1:19:05Israel and with the people of Judah.
- 1:19:09It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when
- 1:19:13I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt.
- 1:19:16Because so he's given the reason why?
- 1:19:18Because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them.
- 1:19:26This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel.
- 1:19:31After that time, declares the Lord, I will put my law in the
- 1:19:36minds and write it on their hearts.
- 1:19:39I will be their God and they will be my people.
- 1:19:42No longer will they teach their neighbor or say to one another
- 1:19:47know the Lord, because they will all know me from the least of
- 1:19:53them to the greatest, declares the Lord.
- 1:19:56For I will forgive their wickedness, and will remember
- 1:20:00their sins no more. This is something that came to
- 1:20:05me as I was reading this tonight.
- 1:20:09And I want to talk about this too, because of this new
- 1:20:13covenant. And so a lot of us will say,
- 1:20:18well, yeah, the new covenant is Jesus.
- 1:20:20And it it is Jesus. But there are some other things
- 1:20:23that I think are really interesting about this where he
- 1:20:28says, where God says this is the covenant I will make with the
- 1:20:31people of Israel after that time.
- 1:20:33And he doesn't say, I'm, I'm going to send my son here, but
- 1:20:37listen to what he does say. I will put my law in their minds
- 1:20:42and write it on their hearts. I will be their God.
- 1:20:48They will be my people. No longer will they teach their
- 1:20:51neighbor or say to one another know the Lord because they will
- 1:20:55all know me from the least of them to the greatest.
- 1:20:59I don't know what made me think about this, but I will put my
- 1:21:02law on their minds. This is something that I think
- 1:21:08is really interesting. When now we know, I guess if
- 1:21:16we're Christian, we know that Jesus death on the cross was the
- 1:21:22atoning sacrifice, the one and only sacrifice that was needed
- 1:21:27for us to have the ability to enter the Kingdom of God, like
- 1:21:33Jesus had to make the payment for our sins.
- 1:21:37So we know that happened if we're a Christian.
- 1:21:40But the Jewish people don't believe that Jesus did that for
- 1:21:44us. So they believe they have to
- 1:21:45keep sacrificing animals in order to atone for their sin.
- 1:21:51And we know that this red heifer, how the the red heifers
- 1:21:57are critical for that atonement. And this is the interesting
- 1:22:03thing about it is that there hasn't been a red heifer that's
- 1:22:08been suitable for over 2000 years.
- 1:22:13So I was curious like, when was the last sacrifice?
- 1:22:16When was the last? You know, I've heard that like
- 1:22:19it's been nearly 2000 years. And ironically, if we say that,
- 1:22:24you know, Jesus died, let's just say in 3030 AD, just say that it
- 1:22:35could be 3330130233. I'm not sure exactly where, but
- 1:22:39just let's just for simplistic reasons, say that it was 30 AD.
- 1:22:44And so if that happened in 30 AD and the last sacrifice that they
- 1:22:51had, it says according to the Mishnah, the last red Hefner,
- 1:22:58red red heifer sacrifice before the destruction of the second
- 1:23:03temple was performed by High Priest Ishmael Ben Pyabi.
- 1:23:09And I probably did not pronounce that correctly, so apologize for
- 1:23:12that. This is believed to have
- 1:23:14occurred around the year 15 to 16 CE, or nearly 2000 years ago,
- 1:23:23prior to the temple's destruction in 70-CE.
- 1:23:27Well, Jesus died somewhere around 30 CE.
- 1:23:33So when Jesus was about 15 or 16 years old, you know, give or
- 1:23:40take five years, that's when you know, anywhere from 10 to 16 in
- 1:23:48that age range is when the last red heifer sacrifice occurred.
- 1:23:53Jesus was probably 10, somewhere between 10 and 16 and then.
- 1:23:57Do you find this interesting? When Jesus was 12 years old, he
- 1:24:02was teaching in the temple, sitting with doctors, asking
- 1:24:07them questions and amazing them with his understanding.
- 1:24:12And, and IA lot of people say, well, why do we only hear about
- 1:24:16Jesus's life when he was 12 years old and he's teaching
- 1:24:20people and they were amazed at what he knew.
- 1:24:24And that's the only story that reached that.
- 1:24:27You know, that almost the only story about Jesus being in his
- 1:24:32youth, like what did he do? A lot of people wonder.
- 1:24:35And the only reason it's probably in the Bible is because
- 1:24:38it's significant. And maybe the other things that
- 1:24:41Jesus was doing in his life were just normal things that weren't
- 1:24:44super significant. So they weren't in the Bible.
- 1:24:48But do you think this is interesting that say he was 12
- 1:24:51years old and like the calendars got messed up.
- 1:24:54So give or take five years for every.
- 1:24:56I'm not for the Bible part. Like we can believe that.
- 1:24:59But as far as what year, everything is like if Jesus was
- 1:25:04really, if Jesus was born in five BC.
- 1:25:06So there's some theories of that.
- 1:25:08Or was it right at like 0 AD where Jesus was born or one Adi
- 1:25:14don't know. So I that's where there's like 5
- 1:25:17years, give or take. And that's what scholars debate.
- 1:25:21So I have no idea. But within five years, so Jesus
- 1:25:27is a 12 year old, He's teaching in the temple.
- 1:25:29Do you think it's ironic that in Jeremiah it says I will put my
- 1:25:33law in their minds and write it on their hearts.
- 1:25:36I will put my law in their minds and Jesus is teaching in the
- 1:25:42temple. He's putting thoughts in their
- 1:25:44minds and they're asking him questions and they're amazed at
- 1:25:48his understanding. So does this point to Jesus
- 1:25:53teaching in the temple at age 12?
- 1:25:55And notice that the the the red heifer sacrifice was right
- 1:26:00around the same time, but now Jesus is present.
- 1:26:04Now they can't have a red heifer that meets their law, found
- 1:26:11without defect, a perfect, the coloration, all of that.
- 1:26:14They, they haven't found one in 2000 years.
- 1:26:20They haven't been able to make atonement for their sin.
- 1:26:25Just like there was this cord that was attached and it would,
- 1:26:30I think it was red and then it would turn white and it would
- 1:26:33that it was some cord that was on the temple doors or something
- 1:26:36like that. And that used to always show
- 1:26:39that the sacrifices were accepted.
- 1:26:41But then after Jesus death on the cross, the cord no longer
- 1:26:46turned white. Like their sacrifices were not
- 1:26:49being accepted by my God. Like this is just like really
- 1:26:53amazing stuff to learn from the Bible.
- 1:26:57And just to contemplate, I'm not saying that this is this is like
- 1:27:03doctrine or anything. I'm just saying something that
- 1:27:06popped out to me was Jesus teaching the temple at 12 years
- 1:27:11old. This heifer sacrifice was, you
- 1:27:14know, just a search on Google was around 1516 CE, but it could
- 1:27:20have been five years, you know, somewhere in that range because
- 1:27:24the calendars got messed up. And so when Jesus is present
- 1:27:28now, no more red heifer sacrifices happen.
- 1:27:32He's present. That's because he is the
- 1:27:34Messiah. He is the atoning sacrifice on
- 1:27:39the cross. So then God's like you don't
- 1:27:42need it, so I'm not giving you a red heifer.
- 1:27:45But now all of a sudden in 2020, red heifers are bred and they
- 1:27:54for the first time in thousands of years, they were they fit the
- 1:28:00right description. And that's, you know, there's
- 1:28:04some who have said that part of the October 7th was to stop the
- 1:28:11red heifer sacrifice. Whether or not that's true, I
- 1:28:14don't really know. But the enemy doesn't want that
- 1:28:17to happen again. It's just very interesting how
- 1:28:21this this Scripture, I guess prophecy how it works.
- 1:28:29All right, let's just go back to Jeremiah.
- 1:28:32No longer will they teach their neighbor or say to one another
- 1:28:35know the Lord because they will all know me from the least to
- 1:28:37the greatest. Is this also a fulfillment when
- 1:28:40Jesus was in the temple teaching them declares the Lord, But then
- 1:28:45I think it's also a future. He said because I will forgive
- 1:28:48their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.
- 1:28:52So it you know when it talks about the unforgivable sin,
- 1:28:56blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the one unforgivable sin.
- 1:29:01Blasphemy of Jesus can actually be forgiven against the Son, can
- 1:29:07be forgiven. I remember reading that and I
- 1:29:09thought how is that where blasphemy against Jesus can be
- 1:29:12forgiven but not of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is
- 1:29:18like the one blasphemy. The Holy Spirit can't be
- 1:29:21forgiven. But I think it's because of
- 1:29:25God's mercy and compassion on those who were learned other
- 1:29:31religions and they didn't know the truth yet.
- 1:29:35But that can be forgiven. And so like the people who
- 1:29:39rejected Jesus will be forgiven 'cause even God says, for I will
- 1:29:44forgive their wickedness and remember their sins.
- 1:29:46No more like God is so merciful. And again, the Holy Spirit is
- 1:29:53the Holy Spirit. You're rebelling against God,
- 1:29:55you're rejecting God, you're rejecting the the Spirit that
- 1:29:59will allow you to enter into the Kingdom of God.
- 1:30:02As Jesus said, you must be born of the Spirit.
- 1:30:04So if we don't have the Holy Spirit, we are basically doing
- 1:30:08it to ourselves. We are making ourselves not
- 1:30:12unable to enter into the Kingdom of God and whatever this future
- 1:30:17mark of the beast that comes, and I just say this because of
- 1:30:20another sin that you can do that will keep you from going into
- 1:30:25the Kingdom of God is taking this mark of the beast.
- 1:30:29You cannot take it and expect to be forgiven for that.
- 1:30:34And it I think it's because it's some sort of an alliance or some
- 1:30:38sort of a recognition of another God or something of a rejection
- 1:30:43of God in order probably to take it.
- 1:30:45So this is going to be something severe that I think people would
- 1:30:50have to know because you would have to be accountable for it or
- 1:30:53you would have to know that you're rejecting God if you take
- 1:30:57this mark. And because it's also says in
- 1:31:01the Book of Revelation that angels go out and tell everyone
- 1:31:05do not take the mark of the beast.
- 1:31:08So people are warned over and over and over again because that
- 1:31:13is an unforgivable and because blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is
- 1:31:17the one unforgivable sin that must be tied to a rejection of
- 1:31:24the Holy Spirit taking the mark. So I'm kind of thinking out loud
- 1:31:28here now, but I'll go back. You know, it does tie into the
- 1:31:31book of Jeremiah, but the Bible is so intricate and detailed
- 1:31:36that one thought leads to many more.
- 1:31:40So this is what the Lord says. He who appoints the sun to shine
- 1:31:44by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who
- 1:31:48stirs up the sea so that it's waves roar.
- 1:31:52The Lord Almighty is his name. Only if these decrees vanish
- 1:31:59from my sight, declares the Lord, will Israel ever cease
- 1:32:05being a nation before me. We have to remember this.
- 1:32:09This is what God said only if those decrees like God, is in
- 1:32:15control of the sun, moon, stars, and the sea.
- 1:32:20And he said, only if these decrees vanish from my sight,
- 1:32:24declares the Lord, will Israel ever cease being a nation before
- 1:32:28me. Israel is always a nation to
- 1:32:32God. Israel will never cease to be a
- 1:32:35nation. There's always a remnant that
- 1:32:37God spares. Throughout all this time He has
- 1:32:41always spared, and he will do so in the future.
- 1:32:45The Book of Revelation tells us Israel will remain.
- 1:32:49This is what the Lord says. Only if the heavens above can be
- 1:32:53measured and the foundations of the earth below be searched out,
- 1:32:58will I reject all the descendants of Israel because of
- 1:33:02all they have done? Well, the heavens, I don't think
- 1:33:06we're going to be able to measure that.
- 1:33:07The foundations of the earth below searched out.
- 1:33:12Then He said He would reject all, but He's not.
- 1:33:15I mean, I don't foresee that ever happening.
- 1:33:20The days are coming, declares the Lord, when this city will be
- 1:33:23rebuilt for me. So the purpose is for God.
- 1:33:28From the tower of Hannanel to the corner gate, the measuring
- 1:33:33line will stretch from there straight to the hill of Garab
- 1:33:36and then turn to Goa. The whole valley where dead
- 1:33:40bodies and ashes are thrown, and all the terraces out to the
- 1:33:44Kidron valley on the east as far as the corner of the horse gate,
- 1:33:49will be holy to the Lord. The city will never again be
- 1:33:55uprooted or demolished. I definitely think this is the
- 1:33:59future and it's because it'll be dedicated to God once again.
- 1:34:05So let's see what there's a couple of things in the question
- 1:34:11and the answers, and then we'll wrap up this chapter.
- 1:34:13When will this promise be fulfilled for Israel?
- 1:34:16God's promises are filled only for those faithful to the
- 1:34:20conditions of the promises. Just as the Old Covenant
- 1:34:24required obedience to the law, the New Covenant requires
- 1:34:28surrender to Christ. Having Christ is Lord, the
- 1:34:34Messiah is Lord. He's going to be king, so you
- 1:34:37have to submit to him. Only then can God's laws be
- 1:34:41written on a person's heart and mind.
- 1:34:43The promise is available to all who turn from sin and give
- 1:34:49themselves to Christ. Some have redefined Israel under
- 1:34:54the New Covenant to mean the nation or ethnic Jews, but the
- 1:34:57Church to not to me, not the nation or ethnic Jews, but the
- 1:35:03Church of Christ, believers in Jesus, including both Jews and
- 1:35:06Gentiles. Well, that this is, you know,
- 1:35:11we're talking about Jeremiah. That's not consistent here at
- 1:35:16all. But we could get into the Rachel
- 1:35:19and Leah discussion because that would be the Gentiles and the
- 1:35:21Jews perhaps, if that symbology works.
- 1:35:24So didn't Israel cease being a nation?
- 1:35:27Though Israel and Judah were destroyed and taken into
- 1:35:30captivity, God preserved a remnant of His people.
- 1:35:35For centuries. Jews have lived as foreigners in
- 1:35:37various places, yet they have never lost their identity as a
- 1:35:42nation without a homeland. They were not assimilated
- 1:35:46completely into their host nations.
- 1:35:49Some believe modern Israel fulfills this promise.
- 1:35:53Others focus on the fact that God's people are those born
- 1:35:56spiritually into His Kingdom, not those who are natural
- 1:36:00citizens of a certain certain country.
- 1:36:04And then how would the garbage dump become holy?
- 1:36:08Jeremiah used graphic terms to demonstrate the dramatic
- 1:36:12purification of the nation. The valley probably refers to
- 1:36:16the valley of Ben Hinnom. It was a symbol of total
- 1:36:20corruption, for it was used as a garbage dump and as a place to
- 1:36:26sacrifice children to Pagan gods.
- 1:36:28Jeremiah's prophecy suggests that God would deal with the
- 1:36:31people and idolatry would finally be wiped out.
- 1:36:35After the Jews returned from Babylon, they never again became
- 1:36:40involved in idolatry. So, but I do think, I don't
- 1:36:46know, maybe, maybe this, you know it well, all of this is
- 1:36:50going to be holy. I don't know that it's all holy
- 1:36:54currently. So I do think that it's going to
- 1:36:57be in the future. And as much as Iran wants Israel
- 1:37:06to be eradicated, God says is what Israel will remain.
- 1:37:12So the things that we see in the world, we have to look at
- 1:37:15through a biblical prophecy. So I, I say we have to, we don't
- 1:37:21have to do anything. But if, if we look at it through
- 1:37:25Bible prophecy, then we will be able to know what's really going
- 1:37:31to happen and what's not going to happen.
- 1:37:34So very interesting. And I hope that this was
- 1:37:40interesting to you as well.
