- 1:07Speaker 5: all the rants that your dad used to say that
- 1:09Speaker 5: now you say, like turning the light bulbs off. Now,
- 1:12Speaker 5: like when the line at the cafe gets long but
- 1:14Speaker 5: you've already ordered, and he's like.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Oh, good diamond got it at the right time.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Oh yeah, or when you're leaving the restaurant, he says,

- 1:28Speaker 2: of your travel planning.
- 1:29Speaker 4: So take notes, get the pans and pads out.
- 1:33Speaker 5: Get you rich in life plan around and start taking notes.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but before we get into it, we love to
- 1:38Speaker 2: start with a product wreck or a trending topic.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Of the week. So, al, would you like to kick
- 1:43Speaker 4: us off?
- 1:44Speaker 5: I would, but I don't know what I would like
- 1:47Speaker 5: to recommend. Oh I do. Okay, so this is a
- 1:52Speaker 5: movie recommendation.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Oh my god, so's mine kind of We're okay this week.
- 1:57Speaker 5: I've been a massive wik this week? Is i' been crazy?
- 2:02Speaker 5: Like the other day I went to message my friend
- 2:04Speaker 5: to check that she was coming to like a dinner,
- 2:06Speaker 5: and she replied She's like what the fuck. I was
- 2:08Speaker 5: literally in the middle of messaging he. I was like, hey, honey,
- 2:10Speaker 5: and she was like she was like get out, and
- 2:12Speaker 5: I was madging even And then I sent sal a
- 2:17Speaker 5: picture of address and I was like, Oh, I think
- 2:21Speaker 5: you'd really like this, But I don't know if it's
- 2:23Speaker 5: more like your sister's vibe. Yeah, and you were like,
- 2:27Speaker 5: that's fucked. Last night Meg sent me this saying you
- 2:31Speaker 5: might like this for Europe, but I don't know if
- 2:33Speaker 5: it's more my style.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 5: And then we were with another friend and we're planning
- 2:36Speaker 5: what dishes everyone's going to bring to dinner and I
- 2:39Speaker 5: was like, oh, well, see, I's going to bring a platter,
- 2:43Speaker 5: so like she's got the entree sordered and so I
- 2:45Speaker 5: was like, I didn't even tell you.
- 2:46Speaker 2: That, and I was yeah, ah, I was like I
- 2:48Speaker 2: was planning to do that, but what Yeah, it's so weird.
- 2:52Speaker 5: There's in so many.
- 2:53Speaker 4: So here's another one. He's another one.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Okay, watch the movie.
- 2:57Speaker 2: It is Puss in Boots The Last Wish.
- 3:01Speaker 4: When did that come out? Like last year? Okay?
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:05Speaker 4: And is it on stand or something? It's on something.
- 3:08Speaker 5: I watched it last night.
- 3:09Speaker 4: I can't remember what app it was. You got hubble
- 3:12Speaker 4: just type it in.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Yeah, there you go. It is so good, Like I
- 3:17Speaker 5: cannot wait to watch this movie with you.
- 3:19Speaker 3: I laugh, I cry.
- 3:22Speaker 5: And the animation style of it to like nerd out
- 3:24Speaker 5: a little bit is just really beautiful.
- 3:27Speaker 4: I love that.
- 3:27Speaker 5: And there's so many little like Easter eggs to like
- 3:31Speaker 5: fairy tale, which like is why everyone loves the first
- 3:35Speaker 5: Shrek movie, you know what I mean.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Just such a good movie. This is the second time
- 3:39Speaker 5: I've watched it.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I was gonna say, I feel like you saw it
- 3:41Speaker 3: in the movies maybe.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Last Yeah, I just saw it at home, but like
- 3:44Speaker 5: I probably spoke about it then. Yeah, but like it's
- 3:47Speaker 5: just so good and so funny, and I just I've
- 3:51Speaker 5: been on a bit of a Shrek marathon lately. I
- 3:53Speaker 5: watched Shrek one to four recently. I actually watched it two, three, four,
- 3:57Speaker 5: and then watched one just to be uni.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Yeah, shake it up.
- 4:02Speaker 5: Rumbel steelt Skin from Shrek fur so fucking camp rumble
- 4:07Speaker 5: Stiltskin from Shrek four.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I want to get a drink with him. Sounds like
- 4:11Speaker 3: a good time.
- 4:12Speaker 5: He's fucked, Like he's fucked and I'm so into it.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Like he's so camp.
- 4:17Speaker 5: He rides around on this fucking demon goose and just
- 4:20Speaker 5: like sounds like everyone has wigs for his different moods.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Like he's got his angry wig and his like business wig.
- 4:27Speaker 5: And I'm like, this is a gay icon. He's a
- 4:31Speaker 5: drag queen.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Yes, anyway, those are.
- 4:33Speaker 5: My recommendations, all the Shrek movies, especially the fourth and
- 4:38Speaker 5: Puts in Boots.
- 4:38Speaker 4: The Last Wish amazing.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Well, speaking of gay icons, my product recommendation of the
- 4:44Speaker 2: week is also a movie, I suppose, but it's Lady
- 4:48Speaker 2: Gaga's CHROMATICA Ball, which is now stan So it's a
- 4:53Speaker 2: concert film of her most recent tour, which is the
- 4:56Speaker 2: CHROMATICA Ball, which is the tour for the album that
- 4:59Speaker 2: came out in twenty twenty, which is her most recent album.
- 5:03Speaker 4: But Lady Gaga is.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Easily one of the best live performers I've ever seen.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I think I've seen her three times now, but she
- 5:10Speaker 2: hasn't toured in Australia since twenty fourteen, So especially for
- 5:15Speaker 2: Australian Gaga fans, it's just an amazing opportunity to, you know.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Experience some crumbs.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah, get like one little straw of a concert from
- 5:26Speaker 2: her and hold on to it for as long as
- 5:27Speaker 2: you can because I don't know when she when or
- 5:29Speaker 2: if she'll ever come back.
- 5:31Speaker 4: But yeah, she's just so talented.
- 5:33Speaker 2: And also if you've never seen her live, it's like
- 5:35Speaker 2: an amazing opportunity to I guess get that experience.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, it's really cool.
- 5:42Speaker 5: It's on stand sal and I watched the U and
- 5:44Speaker 5: I music video the other day and it was great.
- 5:47Speaker 5: That's my favorite Lady Gaga song.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Yeah, anyone was wondering month students both from the same album.
- 5:52Speaker 4: There You Go, There You Go. Let's get into the episode.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Woo okay, jumping into our secret savvy travel tips.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Is planning your cash money?
- 6:07Speaker 5: Like, I know budgeting for a holiday is important, it's
- 6:11Speaker 5: also a little bit boring, like it's not necessarily fun,
- 6:14Speaker 5: but I do think it's the first steps because it's
- 6:17Speaker 5: literally going to be the source of truth of how
- 6:21Speaker 5: you're doing your entire holiday. And when you're planning your holidays,
- 6:25Speaker 5: you want to look at your budget because there is
- 6:28Speaker 5: no one set rule of how much you'll need, because
- 6:30Speaker 5: it does depend on whether you want to go bougie
- 6:34Speaker 5: or you want to go budget, or maybe you want
- 6:36Speaker 5: to have different tiers like saves, bend, splurge your holiday.
- 6:39Speaker 5: But some things you do need to take into consideration
- 6:41Speaker 5: when planning a travel budget is your flights, your travel insurance,
- 6:47Speaker 5: internal transport like flights, trains, ferries, accommodation like how much
- 6:52Speaker 5: is your budget per night? Is there a certain place
- 6:56Speaker 5: or your itinerary that you want to splurge for something
- 6:58Speaker 5: a bit nice and take into consideration places that are
- 7:02Speaker 5: a bit more expensive, like, for example, Paris is fuck off. Yeah, Like,
- 7:08Speaker 5: looking at accombination Paris, I was.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Like, oh no, I think Paris is always expensive, but
- 7:15Speaker 2: the Olympics doesn't.
- 7:16Speaker 5: I'm going to go live with ratitude yeah, like gratitude bye.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I'm going to live in some chef's hat.
- 7:23Speaker 5: Yeah, down King is the real school.
- 7:28Speaker 4: We can put the single beds together.
- 7:31Speaker 5: And then of course you're spending. So those are the
- 7:33Speaker 5: ways that you would break it up. So you would
- 7:35Speaker 5: break it up in terms of your budget as per
- 7:37Speaker 5: those categories, and then that can kind of help you.
- 7:40Speaker 5: And then one thing with your budget is, like we
- 7:42Speaker 5: said at the start of the episode, have a buffer
- 7:46Speaker 5: because you'll be like, yeah, I went into Europe being
- 7:49Speaker 5: like one hundred bucks per night, right. My silence speaks
- 7:57Speaker 5: all the and I actually think it's very rare to
- 8:02Speaker 5: even find hotels for that price. Now that you know
- 8:07Speaker 5: hotels or airbnbs for that price that you know are
- 8:10Speaker 5: a decent location with decent reviews, and you know all
- 8:13Speaker 5: the services that you want there definitely are some out
- 8:16Speaker 5: there for sure, of course, but yeah, I had a
- 8:19Speaker 5: rude shock when I looked at some prices.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Yeah, And I just think.
- 8:25Speaker 2: As well, your security and your safety is so important,
- 8:29Speaker 2: So that's also something to factor in when you're looking
- 8:33Speaker 2: at the cost of accommodation especially.
- 8:35Speaker 5: I think it's good to set your dream budget and
- 8:37Speaker 5: then have a little bit wiggle room in.
- 8:38Speaker 4: It, yeah, exactly.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Yeah, And because they are like a few different components
- 8:43Speaker 2: in your travel budget, it's really good to build it
- 8:46Speaker 2: out in an itinerary in Google sheets or whatever, you know, Excel,
- 8:53Speaker 2: whatever you prefer, And then that way you can have
- 8:55Speaker 2: everything listed out.
- 8:56Speaker 4: You can do it per day.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Per night, and then also per person if you're traveling
- 9:00Speaker 2: with a friend or with a partner, and then also
- 9:03Speaker 2: have links to all of your confirmations for your hotels
- 9:05Speaker 2: and activities and flights linked in that to a Google Drive.
- 9:10Speaker 4: So then that way you're not like.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Oh, wait, fuck, where's that hotel accommodation receipt?
- 9:14Speaker 4: I don't know where's this invoice?
- 9:16Speaker 2: You have the receipts, Yeah, so you've got everything there
- 9:19Speaker 2: and it's all in one place. And then as well,
- 9:21Speaker 2: then you can really keep track of how much you're
- 9:24Speaker 2: spending across your flights, accommodation, and activities to get more
- 9:29Speaker 2: of a big picture idea of how much you're spending.
- 9:32Speaker 4: And if you're sticking to your.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Budget, then you're going to want to organize your packing.
- 9:37Speaker 3: So why is this the hardest part?
- 9:40Speaker 5: Yeah, seriously, I am on a journey of trying to
- 9:44Speaker 5: be a better packer. I think I'm good with the necessities.
- 9:47Speaker 5: I'm not very good with the nice to haves, And
- 9:49Speaker 5: that's the two categories that like you put your packing into.
- 9:53Speaker 5: So organizing it in two tiers of absolute necessities. If
- 9:56Speaker 5: you don't bring this on the trip, you're fucked, and
- 10:00Speaker 5: nice to have of Yeah, I'm glad I brought it,
- 10:02Speaker 5: you know. So absolute necessities for your international trip includes
- 10:07Speaker 5: obviously your passport. But you need to check the expiration
- 10:11Speaker 5: date on your passport because you need a buffer on that.
- 10:14Speaker 5: So I didn't realize this until really recently that for
- 10:18Speaker 5: a lot of places to travel to you need six
- 10:22Speaker 5: months left on your passport as a minimum, Like for
- 10:24Speaker 5: America and Bali, you need to have six months. If
- 10:27Speaker 5: you have less than six months but you're going next month,
- 10:30Speaker 5: you still can't go. Yeah, which is wild and you
- 10:35Speaker 5: need to check it depending on where you're traveling to,
- 10:37Speaker 5: because everywhere has different kind of rules around that, Like
- 10:41Speaker 5: in Europe it's like three to six months depending on
- 10:43Speaker 5: what country you're going to.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 10:46Speaker 2: And you can do express to get your passport renewed.
- 10:49Speaker 4: But how much did that cost? It costs like five
- 10:52Speaker 4: hundred dollars.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Oh that's expensive and passports are already expensive.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Yeah exactly. Also that five hundred dollars on top I
- 11:00Speaker 4: was like five hundred and something together.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so still very expensive, especially when you're
- 11:07Speaker 2: trying to save for your holiday. Yeah, so keep that
- 11:10Speaker 2: in mind for sure, and don't leave it to the
- 11:12Speaker 2: last minute.
- 11:13Speaker 5: And this next one is you is it? You actually
- 11:16Speaker 5: taught me about this next one because I was doing
- 11:19Speaker 5: it the original way, but you've kind of enlightened me
- 11:22Speaker 5: into this next tip.
- 11:23Speaker 4: So talk us through it. Oh sure.
- 11:25Speaker 2: So with your phone, you've got a few different options. Obviously,
- 11:29Speaker 2: you need to take your phone with you. A lot
- 11:32Speaker 2: of plans in Australia have like five dollars a day roaming. However,
- 11:37Speaker 2: you need to toss up whether or not it's a
- 11:40Speaker 2: better option to do that or get a SIM card.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Or an e SIM, because it really depends on how
- 11:47Speaker 2: long you're going to be traveling. Because if you're going
- 11:50Speaker 2: away on a short trip, using roaming is probably going
- 11:53Speaker 2: to be fine. If you're going away for a week,
- 11:55Speaker 2: you know, that's probably going to be what thirty five dollars, like,
- 11:58Speaker 2: you know, that's probably okay. Whereas if you're going away
- 12:01Speaker 2: for you know, thirty to forty days on a europe
- 12:05Speaker 2: trip for example, that could cost one hundred and fifty
- 12:07Speaker 2: to two hundred dollars if you were to use your
- 12:09Speaker 2: five dollars a day roaming, Whereas you can get e
- 12:13Speaker 2: sims that cost one hundred and twenty dollars and you'll
- 12:16Speaker 2: get two hundred gigs and that'll last you the whole trip,
- 12:20Speaker 2: and you don't actually have to.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Buy a physical sim.
- 12:24Speaker 2: It's an electronic sim that you can just switch on
- 12:27Speaker 2: and off in your phone. Yeah, whereas previously I had
- 12:32Speaker 2: always like gone up to the phone counter.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Wait, is that why it's called an e SIM.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah, So with a SIMP usually like in New Zealand,
- 12:40Speaker 2: for example, I go up to the little counter and
- 12:42Speaker 2: be like, Hi, can I please buy a SIM card?
- 12:44Speaker 4: And then you know, take it out and put it
- 12:46Speaker 4: in your phone.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Want something down the pod?
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, with this, it's an electronic sim that you have
- 12:50Speaker 2: to scan a QR code and then it gets uploaded
- 12:54Speaker 2: in your phone, and then it'll give you instructions on
- 12:56Speaker 2: how to do it, because it'll vary depending on your device,
- 12:59Speaker 2: but it'll give you instructions on how you can go
- 13:01Speaker 2: in and switch your existing SIM card off and then
- 13:05Speaker 2: turn your e SIM card on and then that way,
- 13:08Speaker 2: for some reason, you did want to use your original
- 13:11Speaker 2: SIM card, for example, to use your number, So for like,
- 13:14Speaker 2: if you've got reservations linked to your existing phone number,
- 13:18Speaker 2: you can still turn it on. You don't have to
- 13:20Speaker 2: go and get that little fucking pin and pop open
- 13:23Speaker 2: your SIM card and make sure that's in a safe place.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:27Speaker 4: I was like, wow, I'm mind blind.
- 13:28Speaker 2: So not only could it end up more affordable or
- 13:31Speaker 2: more cost effective, but also less stressful and less time
- 13:35Speaker 2: consuming as well. But yeah, just make sure that when
- 13:38Speaker 2: you do buy the eSIM, you're doing it somewhere with
- 13:41Speaker 2: Wi Fi, whether that's before you leave or in the airport,
- 13:44Speaker 2: because you will need to scan a QR code and
- 13:47Speaker 2: like download and download it.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Yeah. So next on our list of like necessities or
- 13:51Speaker 5: your fucked is your bank card, So get a bank
- 13:54Speaker 5: travel card that doesn't charge international transaction fees and populnes
- 13:59Speaker 5: we've seen in like our hectic research and planning is
- 14:03Speaker 5: wise and up bank. Obviously that's not financial advice. You
- 14:07Speaker 5: can do your own research, but those are ones that
- 14:09Speaker 5: we've seen most people sharing as like what they used.
- 14:13Speaker 5: And then some quick little last ones. Is a portable charger.
- 14:16Speaker 5: You use your phone so much. Nothing worse than having
- 14:19Speaker 5: to like go between aeroplane mode, a universal travel plug adapter,
- 14:23Speaker 5: air tags, a luggage scale because you're like five hundred
- 14:27Speaker 5: grams over in the airport.
- 14:28Speaker 4: It's like that'll be.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Seven hundred and twenty thousand dollars in your firstborn plus
- 14:32Speaker 5: a kidney, yeah, thank you. And then an everyday bag
- 14:36Speaker 5: specifically like a cross body bag, and then a money
- 14:39Speaker 5: wallet because.
- 14:41Speaker 3: We ain't got no burglars. Here another reason why we're
- 14:45Speaker 3: turning into her dad's spot.
- 14:47Speaker 5: I've always been a bum bag lover.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but I was never I was like I'm not
- 14:52Speaker 2: wearing a money wallet when i was in my early
- 14:55Speaker 2: twenty years, and now I'm like, I'm one thousand percent
- 14:58Speaker 2: wearing money wallet to your own exactly.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Called growth, it's called evolution, you know.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Another tip for your packing is check the baggage limits
- 15:09Speaker 2: because this will vary between different airlines if you're traveling
- 15:14Speaker 2: if you've got multiple legs of your trip, so you
- 15:18Speaker 2: may have twenty three kilos of baggage for example in Australia,
- 15:22Speaker 2: but then if you're flying between countries or interstate, depending
- 15:27Speaker 2: on where you're going, they may have different limits for
- 15:30Speaker 2: size and weight. So you don't want to be going
- 15:33Speaker 2: over there with twenty three kilos only to find out, oh,
- 15:36Speaker 2: I can only have twenty kilos for my domestic flight
- 15:39Speaker 2: in America, and now I have to pay eight hundred
- 15:42Speaker 2: dollars to go from this flight from LA to New York.
- 15:45Speaker 5: You know. Now. Our next tip is a word from
- 15:48Speaker 5: a fabulous sponsor, but we recently use this for a
- 15:51Speaker 5: domestic trip as well, and I had no idea this existed,
- 15:55Speaker 5: and it saved us so much time and money. But
- 15:58Speaker 5: it's to use the webjet Multi City tool to book
- 16:01Speaker 5: multiple flights. So the webject Multi City tool scans hundreds
- 16:06Speaker 5: of airlines and over three thousand destinations, serving up like
- 16:11Speaker 5: the best itinerary in literally a couple of clicks, saving
- 16:15Speaker 5: you time and effort. So because you're flying in and
- 16:18Speaker 5: out of different destinations, you can end up having to
- 16:22Speaker 5: sit there and book like multiple one way flights and
- 16:26Speaker 5: you kind of can't see them all in conjunction with
- 16:28Speaker 5: each other, Whereas with this tool, you can combine different
- 16:31Speaker 5: airlines on each leg of the trip and can easily
- 16:34Speaker 5: prioritize time saving, cost efficiency or stopovers, depending on what
- 16:38Speaker 5: you want to fit into your itinerary.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Like if you want to.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Just get to places and that's your priority, then it'll
- 16:45Speaker 5: show you the fastest ones. If you want to be
- 16:48Speaker 5: on a budget, it will show you the cheapest ones,
- 16:50Speaker 5: which might mean like a couple stops or however that looks,
- 16:53Speaker 5: or it might be an earlier flight. You can fly
- 16:56Speaker 5: into one city and out from another, So it's also
- 16:59Speaker 5: really good if you're traveling by car or train somewhere
- 17:02Speaker 5: in between your destinations, or if you're doing a circular route.
- 17:06Speaker 5: So there's three steps you want to do to purchase
- 17:09Speaker 5: up to six flights in one go in the multi
- 17:13Speaker 5: city tab on the Webjet website or mobile app, So
- 17:16Speaker 5: simply search the departure, city, destinations, and travel dates to
- 17:20Speaker 5: explore a variety of flight options that the technology provides,
- 17:25Speaker 5: select the flights that align with your preferences like we
- 17:28Speaker 5: just said before, so like cheapest, fastest or best available,
- 17:31Speaker 5: and finally book by entering your passenger details and finalizing
- 17:35Speaker 5: the payment process all in one gom gorgeous And.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Like we said, when we did this, it saved us
- 17:43Speaker 2: so much time and money. It literally only took a
- 17:45Speaker 2: couple of minutes, whereas usually if you were having to
- 17:48Speaker 2: book flights with multiple different airlines for different legs of
- 17:52Speaker 2: your trip, that would take you so long and would
- 17:54Speaker 2: be so confusing and stressful. So yeah, we'll put a
- 17:58Speaker 2: link to the webjet multi city to Turk in the
- 18:00Speaker 2: show notes so that you can check it out.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Long haul flights, though, I am like a bit. I
- 18:06Speaker 5: think the longest flight I've ever done is fourteen hours
- 18:09Speaker 5: in one in one seat or just in general. Oh
- 18:14Speaker 5: no wait no, New York to Sydney. New York to
- 18:17Speaker 5: Sydney was a good stint. But yeah, fourteen hours on
- 18:20Speaker 5: a plane is hectic, and there's lots of like little
- 18:23Speaker 5: tips that you can pick up for long haul flights.
- 18:25Speaker 5: But I saw this hack, like this amazing travel tip
- 18:30Speaker 5: and hack for flights on TikTok, and it was that
- 18:33Speaker 5: if you text yourself the flight number for your flight.
- 18:37Speaker 5: You can text it to yourself or you can text
- 18:39Speaker 5: it to someone else and you click the link, it
- 18:43Speaker 5: shows you your flight details and the flight path, and
- 18:48Speaker 5: then within twenty four hours, apparently it'll show your gate number.
- 18:52Speaker 5: It'll show you if it's delayed, like it updates in
- 18:54Speaker 5: real time, so if someone's picking you up from the
- 18:58Speaker 5: airport as well, you can send them just the flight
- 19:01Speaker 5: number and it will show them, like when you're coming
- 19:04Speaker 5: in and landing, like you can get a really good
- 19:06Speaker 5: tailwind and you land a bit earlier. I know why
- 19:10Speaker 5: am I like? But it shows you in real time,
- 19:14Speaker 5: like your flight details, your gate, if your gate changes.
- 19:18Speaker 4: That is so cool, I know.
- 19:20Speaker 5: So I saw this from a TikTok called Derby, and
- 19:22Speaker 5: I'll link it in the show notes as well. So
- 19:24Speaker 5: I tested it on a flight that we've got coming
- 19:26Speaker 5: up and it worked. But like I think, but because
- 19:31Speaker 5: it's a little bit further out, it didn't show all
- 19:32Speaker 5: the details. But then I think in twenty four hours
- 19:34Speaker 5: it'll show you all the other details. That's so cool,
- 19:37Speaker 5: so cool, what a good hack. I know.
- 19:39Speaker 4: I loved it.
- 19:40Speaker 5: And then the other one I saw was this one's
- 19:43Speaker 5: a bit of a gamble. This travel hacks a bit
- 19:45Speaker 5: of a gamble. Is you know, when you're selecting your
- 19:48Speaker 5: seats and say you're traveling with two people, Yeah, one
- 19:51Speaker 5: of you will seat in the window, and one of
- 19:53Speaker 5: you'll seat in the middle, And the middle is the
- 19:55Speaker 5: fucking bane of my existence. I've never ever ever had
- 19:59Speaker 5: to go experience sitting in the middle seat. I'm always
- 20:02Speaker 5: Actually that's a lie. One time we sat next to
- 20:03Speaker 5: that really nice dad. Oh yeah, he was great, and
- 20:06Speaker 5: I was like, I love you. Yeah. But recently I
- 20:10Speaker 5: also sat next to the worst man in the world,
- 20:12Speaker 5: which was the story for another time.
- 20:14Speaker 3: If you listen to a few episodes back here, he.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Was like man spreading, he was taking my arm rest.
- 20:19Speaker 5: It was horrible. So this is like a little hack
- 20:22Speaker 5: to get like the whole row for two people, and
- 20:27Speaker 5: you select.
- 20:28Speaker 4: So you've got two people.
- 20:29Speaker 5: One of you selects the window seat and one of
- 20:32Speaker 5: you selects the aisle seat, and it's probably better to
- 20:35Speaker 5: do it a little bit more to the back of
- 20:37Speaker 5: the plane because they book from the front to the
- 20:39Speaker 5: back most of the time. But you leave the middle
- 20:42Speaker 5: seat free and because most people don't want to sit
- 20:45Speaker 5: in the middle seat, it likely won't get booked. And
- 20:52Speaker 5: obviously it's a gamble because if it's a full flight,
- 20:54Speaker 5: someone will just get put there.
- 20:55Speaker 4: It's a risk.
- 20:56Speaker 5: But what you just do because no one likes to
- 20:58Speaker 5: sit in the middle seat, is you just like, oh,
- 21:00Speaker 5: like that's that's actually my friend. Do you mind if
- 21:03Speaker 5: we swap seats and I'll take the middle seat and
- 21:05Speaker 5: then that person gets the aisle seat. Yeah, so i'd
- 21:08Speaker 5: be like cool upgrade. Yeah, exactly. So I want to
- 21:12Speaker 5: try it. I haven't tried it before, but I want
- 21:14Speaker 5: to try it because I want to see if it works.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Yeah, should we.
- 21:20Speaker 5: I'm scared, I know, but like I'll I'll copy it
- 21:23Speaker 5: and I'll just sit in the middle seat if it doesn't.
- 21:25Speaker 5: But like, yeah, I just I saw that and I
- 21:29Speaker 5: was like, fuck, that's good because the person that was
- 21:32Speaker 5: doing it it worked once and then it didn't work,
- 21:34Speaker 5: and then I saw another one.
- 21:35Speaker 4: I'm off.
- 21:37Speaker 5: As you can tell, you're doing my tea talk research,
- 21:39Speaker 5: and it was to book an aisle seat so when
- 21:43Speaker 5: you get on last and you've got the ale seat,
- 21:45Speaker 5: you can see all the rows that are free and
- 21:46Speaker 5: just be like, can I have that one please place.
- 21:49Speaker 5: I've never had a whole row to myself me neither,
- 21:53Speaker 5: but one day.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's also another tip as well. Just ask, yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 2: because we've had that in the past where it hasn't
- 22:02Speaker 2: necessarily worked out, but they do listen.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Yeah, they go check for you.
- 22:06Speaker 4: But if you're in like.
- 22:07Speaker 2: A bad seat that's next to the toilet, or ye
- 22:10Speaker 2: are in the middle, or yeah it's you're in like
- 22:14Speaker 2: a three seater and you want to see if you
- 22:16Speaker 2: can get your.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Own road, just ask because all they can do is say.
- 22:20Speaker 4: No, exactly, okay.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Accommodation. Accommodation can potentially be the most expensive part of
- 22:30Speaker 5: an international trip, obviously depending on how you do it,
- 22:33Speaker 5: such as like staying in hostels and some potentially have
- 22:37Speaker 5: private rooms, which is good. Like I stayed in a
- 22:39Speaker 5: private room in a hostel and it was amazing. Yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 5: but it's kind of just like you got to see,
- 22:44Speaker 5: maybe it'll work out, maybe it won't.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 2: And we had Cassidy on Cassidy Miguel Yeah last year,
- 22:51Speaker 2: and she was telling us about her euro trips and
- 22:54Speaker 2: giving us her solo trips specifically, and she was telling
- 22:58Speaker 2: us that a lot of the time, she would stay
- 23:00Speaker 2: hostels that were female only.
- 23:04Speaker 4: For security, but also she said.
- 23:05Speaker 2: That it was great because you made so many friends,
- 23:08Speaker 2: which is definitely a good tip if you're traveling alone.
- 23:12Speaker 2: So yeah, there are definitely ways that you can do
- 23:15Speaker 2: hostels and it can be like a good experience.
- 23:20Speaker 3: However, if you are looking at.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Hostels, hotels, or airbnbs, there are a few different things
- 23:28Speaker 2: that you should look out for when you are booking
- 23:31Speaker 2: your accommodation before a holiday.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Number one reviews.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Look for consistencies across the different reviews, both good and bad.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I've been doing.
- 23:44Speaker 2: This a lot, especially with looking at potentially airbnbs for
- 23:48Speaker 2: Paris and paying attention to things like people talking about
- 23:51Speaker 2: the cleanliness of the airbnb, people talking about the proximity
- 23:57Speaker 2: to noise.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Noise is another big one.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Noises a big one, especially if it's on the ground
- 24:02Speaker 2: floor and you're staying in a busy place like Paris or.
- 24:05Speaker 5: London, and sometimes you just find deal breakers in there.
- 24:09Speaker 5: Like I was looking at an Airbnb and someone said
- 24:12Speaker 5: that the owner just like let themselves in because they
- 24:14Speaker 5: thought they were out, And I was like, you guys,
- 24:18Speaker 5: like that's going to be a null. Yeah, and like
- 24:21Speaker 5: obviously reviews, you can kind of read them and you
- 24:23Speaker 5: can kind of get the vibe because sometimes people have
- 24:28Speaker 5: a bad experience, have a bad experience, or they have
- 24:30Speaker 5: a different standard to you that like something that bothers
- 24:33Speaker 5: them might not necessarily bother you. Like I read one
- 24:35Speaker 5: and it was like it didn't have soy milk, and
- 24:38Speaker 5: they were really mad that didn't have soy milk.
- 24:39Speaker 4: And that's fine. They can be mad about that.
- 24:41Speaker 5: That's so fine, But like that wouldn't bother you. That
- 24:43Speaker 5: wouldn't bother me, And that probably wouldn't bother you either,
- 24:45Speaker 5: even know you do drink soy milk, Like you probably
- 24:47Speaker 5: wouldn't write a review about it. Yeah, But like what
- 24:50Speaker 5: I did write a review about was when I had
- 24:51Speaker 5: a flower bath and there were leeches in it.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Yeah, that wasn't good.
- 24:54Speaker 2: You know.
- 24:55Speaker 4: That's something that I did.
- 24:57Speaker 5: That's like the only review I've ever written out in
- 24:59Speaker 5: my life. And I spelt leech is wrong because you
- 25:02Speaker 5: were so I was so angling and I was like
- 25:06Speaker 5: and then I couldn't delete it, and I was like, oh,
- 25:09Speaker 5: I regretted it so much, but I was like, whatever,
- 25:11Speaker 5: there were leaders in my butt.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Ye, look at the reviews also look at the location,
- 25:18Speaker 2: because you typically want to make sure that your accommodation
- 25:21Speaker 2: is centrally located to all of the things that you
- 25:24Speaker 2: want to do.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Or at least close to public transport.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Whereas in the past we have booked accommodation based on
- 25:32Speaker 2: the budget and the rate for the night, and we
- 25:34Speaker 2: were like, oh, this is great, what a steal. And
- 25:37Speaker 2: then we've realized it was about forty minutes away from
- 25:41Speaker 2: the center of the city, which is where we were
- 25:43Speaker 2: going every single day, so we had to account in
- 25:46Speaker 2: not only the time but the cost of going there
- 25:50Speaker 2: via public transport or ubers, and we were like, yep,
- 25:53Speaker 2: we probably should have just splurged and stayed in the
- 25:56Speaker 2: city and we would have saved more money in the
- 25:58Speaker 2: long run.
- 25:59Speaker 5: And we were near public transport as well, so we
- 26:02Speaker 5: ended up paying like the difference in ubers. Yep, good time,
- 26:07Speaker 5: fucking dickheads. It was a lovely hotel though, oh it
- 26:12Speaker 5: was still a good it's a lovely stay, but I
- 26:15Speaker 5: was like, it's a factor in like forty minutes for
- 26:18Speaker 5: every activity too, and I was like, idiots. Yeah. And
- 26:21Speaker 5: then the last one was a little hot tip from
- 26:24Speaker 5: my mum who came over and kicked us up the
- 26:27Speaker 5: bum because she was like, have you guys planned your
- 26:29Speaker 5: trip and we're like, oh, yeah, we know kind of where.
- 26:32Speaker 5: And she was like, have you booked anything and we
- 26:34Speaker 5: were like, oh no, not yet and she was like,
- 26:37Speaker 5: you too need to sit down, and we got in
- 26:38Speaker 5: trouble from my mummy. But it's if you've ever booked
- 26:42Speaker 5: a hotel and like you look at the photos and
- 26:45Speaker 5: you're like, Wow, this hotel's amazing, and then you get
- 26:49Speaker 5: there and it's a bed and four walls, you're like,
- 26:52Speaker 5: what the fuck? Like it's literally a tuna tin can
- 26:57Speaker 5: and you're like.
- 26:57Speaker 4: How did this happen to me? Booped?
- 27:00Speaker 5: Yeah. So a little hack for booking your accommodation to
- 27:03Speaker 5: make sure you're not like staying in a shoe box
- 27:05Speaker 5: of a room is to look at the size, like
- 27:08Speaker 5: it actually will show you on sites to book accommodation
- 27:12Speaker 5: the square meter of the room. And so when you
- 27:16Speaker 5: go into the description, just look out for wherever it'll be.
- 27:20Speaker 5: It's normally around the top somewhere under description, and it'll
- 27:24Speaker 5: have like nineteen square meters, twenty five square meters, or
- 27:28Speaker 5: fourteen square meters, which that's when you're getting into.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Small room, cozy territory.
- 27:34Speaker 5: Room, Yeah, cozy room territory.
- 27:37Speaker 4: And I think then.
- 27:38Speaker 5: When we would look at reviews, we would see like
- 27:41Speaker 5: consistent reviews being like the room was quite small, the
- 27:44Speaker 5: room was quite small, like great location, really clean, room
- 27:47Speaker 5: was quite small, And then you go and look at
- 27:50Speaker 5: the size and it'll be like fourteen meters or something
- 27:53Speaker 5: like that, and you can see why that was a thing.
- 27:56Speaker 5: Versus then if you look and someone says, all the
- 27:59Speaker 5: room wasn't very big and it's twenty square meters, Yeah,
- 28:03Speaker 5: you're like, Okay, I know that's okay for me though,
- 28:06Speaker 5: So getting like a little good understanding of that and
- 28:08Speaker 5: checking that because the photos can.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Be a bit cheeky.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they know what angles to work with to
- 28:16Speaker 2: make the room look bigger than it actually is.
- 28:18Speaker 3: So yeah, definitely check that out.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Well that's a wrap on our secret Savvy travel tips.
- 28:26Speaker 2: But shall we move into advice with chicks? My partner
- 28:33Speaker 2: just broke up with me after being together for seventeen
- 28:36Speaker 2: years and since we were sixteen. How do I move
- 28:40Speaker 2: on and navigate this crazy dating world? Well, firstly, I
- 28:46Speaker 2: want to say I am so sorry to hear that
- 28:50Speaker 2: you're going through this that would be so so rough
- 28:54Speaker 2: because that is half your life basically that you've been
- 28:59Speaker 2: with this person, but you were still incredibly young, and
- 29:05Speaker 2: I just don't want you to think that like it's
- 29:07Speaker 2: too late or you know that there's not going to
- 29:10Speaker 2: be any opportunities.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Out there for you.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I think maybe take this time to focus on yourself
- 29:16Speaker 2: and enjoy being single and spending time alone and learning
- 29:20Speaker 2: about the things that you like to do alone, and
- 29:22Speaker 2: spending time with your friends and enjoying that for a
- 29:26Speaker 2: little bit, maybe before you jump into dating straight away,
- 29:29Speaker 2: because I think going from being with a long term
- 29:33Speaker 2: partner that you've been with since you were a teenager
- 29:36Speaker 2: into dating as somebody in their early thirties, I can
- 29:39Speaker 2: imagine it would be quite a shock. So it might
- 29:42Speaker 2: be a good idea to focus on yourself and ease into.
- 29:45Speaker 4: It a little bit. Yeah, I think that's created.
- 29:47Speaker 2: By We've also got a bunch of episodes on how
- 29:50Speaker 2: to get through a breakup and have like your post
- 29:52Speaker 2: breakup glow up, So we'll put links in the show
- 29:56Speaker 2: notes to those so you can give those a listen,
- 29:58Speaker 2: have a bit of a refresh, and you can get
- 30:00Speaker 2: some hot tips from there. Well, that is a wrap
- 30:05Speaker 2: for today's episode of Two Broke Chicks. I hope everyone
- 30:07Speaker 2: is ready to go on book the Girls trip, get
- 30:09Speaker 2: it out of the group chat.
- 30:10Speaker 5: Finally, thanks to your chicks for having us in your
- 30:13Speaker 5: ear holes. We absolutely love to be here. And thanks
- 30:15Speaker 5: to m I K Made for making today's episode.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Happen by chicks.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Bye,
