- 0:53OK, guys, so social. Phobias or?
- 0:55Social anxiety, How do you know the difference, right?
- 0:58It's an interesting concept. So a lot of people.
- 1:02Will have social phobias and a lot of people will have.
- 1:04Social anxiety. But is there a difference?
- 1:06And how do you know the difference?
- 1:07So First off the bat, yes, there is a difference.
- 1:09There's a difference between having a phobia and having
- 1:12anxiety and just straight off the bat, right?
- 1:14And there are many differences between them.
- 1:17Now I've listed out three differences between them,
- 1:22really. It will go through in this video
- 1:25and the two conditions are completely separate.
- 1:29Social phobia and social anxiety, two different things.
- 1:31So they do ACT in different ways and they do impact the the
- 1:34mental health of a person in different ways as well.
- 1:36So I'm going to go through those and break them down Right now.
- 1:38If you want to leave me a comment about anything to do
- 1:41with this and you have something to say, pop it in a comment down
- 1:43below. I read everyone.
- 1:44That would be super awesome. OK guys, so the first one is a
- 1:47phobia versus an anxiety. Now a phobia comes from a deep
- 1:51rooted fear that is caused by trauma.
- 1:54Right now, this could be historical or fantasy, you know,
- 1:57so you could actually have had historical trauma which would
- 1:59cause you to have a deep rooted phobia.
- 2:02Or you could have like a fantasy, like you could have had
- 2:04a dream about something that scared you or you could have
- 2:06invented something in your head that would cause you to have
- 2:09this phobia. Anxiety is in mental health
- 2:12condition caused by a misguided reaction to an issue.
- 2:16So mental health issues like anxiety is like it's having the
- 2:20reaction you're getting to being somewhere is having a
- 2:23miscommunication within the brain which is causing you to
- 2:26have an anxiety about it rather than a relationship of
- 2:28understanding with it. Whereas a social phobia would be
- 2:31something that was caused by trauma or past trauma
- 2:34beforehand. So you can see how an anxiety is
- 2:37a more of a mental health condition but like a phobia is
- 2:40more of a trauma based mental health condition.
- 2:42So they are both mental health conditions, but phobia act from
- 2:46a fear of something where anxiety gives you an anxious
- 2:49nervous feeling because it can't understand or compute the kind
- 2:53of chaos or the situation that one is presented in.
- 2:55This is really, really interesting and I love talking
- 2:57about this stuff. Now #2 is therapy.
- 3:01So hypnosis therapy can work for social phobias along with kind
- 3:07of medication and other bits and pieces, right?
- 3:10But social anxiety will need stuff like CBT and other kind of
- 3:15psychological kind of therapies to improve it.
- 3:18Because, you know, when you're dealing with a phobia, you can,
- 3:23you can set a phobia off with using things like, you know, for
- 3:28instance the the hypnotherapy and that kind of stuff.
- 3:31So you can offset, you know, phobia by doing different types
- 3:34of therapy, especially hypnotherapy and talking and
- 3:37counting therapy. Whereas anxiety, because it's a
- 3:39mental health condition caused by misguided interactions from
- 3:42issues more kind of like behavioral therapy and
- 3:46psychotherapy will be used to improve that condition.
- 3:49And I don't think you can ever really get away from the
- 3:51anxiety. You can improve it, but you can
- 3:53get away from a phobia, which I find really, really interesting.
- 3:56OK, so #3 is fear versus reaction.
- 3:59A social phobia is a genuine fear of a social place or a
- 4:03social situation, right? But social anxiety is your
- 4:06body's kind of fight or flight response to a situation that
- 4:10makes you anxious. So when you have a genuine fear
- 4:13or something, it causes you to like, just completely, just
- 4:15you're absolutely terrified or something.
- 4:16But when you have an anxiety, you're nervous because there's
- 4:20something that's making you anxious about that situation.
- 4:23So there is something to be said that a, you know, a fear versus
- 4:27reaction kind of social phobias of fear and social anxiety is a
- 4:31reaction. One is reaction based, the other
- 4:33one is fear based. And I suppose having a fear of
- 4:35something is a reaction to something, but there is a
- 4:38difference between them. Now I suffer from a social
- 4:41anxiety perspective just being the fact that I don't really
- 4:45understand people's intentions. Socializing can be quite
- 4:47difficult with people, especially new people I've
- 4:49never, you know, met before. And also social settings like
- 4:51shopping centers, shopping malls, all that kinds of stuff
- 4:54can be very difficult for me. But in terms of social phobias,
- 4:57I don't think I have a social phobia because I have nothing to
- 4:59be scared of in terms of like a fear factor in a social
- 5:04environment. That being said guys, if you
- 5:06think this video can help someone and educate them, please
- 5:08share it on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and give this video
- 5:10a thumbs up If you enjoyed this content.
- 5:12I'll see you next time guys. Peace.
