- 0:18Speaker 1: Return to Glory Podcast by Week edition number one, Hunter
- 0:22Speaker 1: Zarbernikki Austin Rose, Dakota Free tag Nebraska's three and one
- 0:32Speaker 1: after the most recent lost Michigan heading into bye week
- 0:35Speaker 1: number one, which we all I think agreed last episode
- 0:40Speaker 1: it's a good time for a bye week. We just
- 0:42Speaker 1: played our first game that we really learned a lot
- 0:49Speaker 1: about where we are at right now this year in
- 0:51Speaker 1: the twenty twenty five season. If I want to kind
- 0:55Speaker 1: of start us there as far as the bye week,
- 1:00Speaker 1: what did we learn? What did we learn at a
- 1:03Speaker 1: high level. We kind of talked about that last week
- 1:05Speaker 1: and what is the focus for this coaching staff, for
- 1:09Speaker 1: this team this week heading into Michigan State next week.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I feel like the obvious lesson learned is that left
- 1:19Speaker 2: tackle not quite as the depth on the offensive line
- 1:24Speaker 2: isn't exactly what we thought it was gonna be when
- 1:26Speaker 2: it came time to facing big ten opponents tackles.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I like it. I think that's a very very good
- 1:36Speaker 1: place to evaluate.
- 1:39Speaker 2: The little soul searching needs to be done there. Yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 2: I'm here. The starting left tackle is I think it's
- 1:44Speaker 2: still too but.
- 1:47Speaker 1: So some people are just saying it needs to be
- 1:49Speaker 1: Pritchet and I apparently Pritchett's been greating better in the
- 1:55Speaker 1: run game. Purchet's also I think jumped false start like
- 2:01Speaker 1: in every single game so.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Far, but he's.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Tell with it.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Yeah, you almost just have to live at the false
- 2:11Speaker 4: starts because he's because he's playing better.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Is he that much better though?
- 2:17Speaker 1: That's that's what I've heard that that's maybe. I don't know.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I don't. Obviously, none of them are standing out. That's
- 2:25Speaker 1: why they've been in ore every week. And do you
- 2:30Speaker 1: just have to pick and roll with somebody here at
- 2:33Speaker 1: this time? Maybe? But man, I mean, if it's not
- 2:37Speaker 1: going to get better, I mean it needs to get better.
- 2:39Speaker 1: If it doesn't, you probably still have the freedom to
- 2:44Speaker 1: change things up. I don't know. But someone needs to
- 2:48Speaker 1: step up, that's for sure.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I agree. Yeah, I don't know. I guess you don't
- 2:55Speaker 2: necessarily need to be like this is our guy for
- 2:58Speaker 2: an offensive line position, because in theory, you're gonna be
- 3:02Speaker 2: rotam in it out throughout the game anyways. But I'd
- 3:08Speaker 2: say that's definitely the biggest point of soul search in
- 3:11Speaker 2: I feel like d line played for the most part. Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 2: we give you know, two hundred and seventy yards of
- 3:18Speaker 2: rushing last week. But you take away the three big
- 3:21Speaker 2: places like, okay, you actually did okay, the you know,
- 3:25Speaker 2: you got a little creative work. We aren't gonna as
- 3:27Speaker 2: much pressure in the backfield. That's probably another area of concern.
- 3:33Speaker 1: But yep, just up front and defensively, yeah, that's been
- 3:39Speaker 1: the big thing pretty much throughout the whole season. I
- 3:42Speaker 1: mean even heading into the season, Dak. We're also re
- 3:44Speaker 1: soul searching.
- 3:47Speaker 4: On defensive because I agree for sure tackles is your
- 3:51Speaker 4: number one spot, probably holding your contain on defense, in
- 3:58Speaker 4: staying where you need to be on defense because they're
- 4:00Speaker 4: on those big runs. I've watched some like didn't replays
- 4:04Speaker 4: and guys were just not in the right positions on those.
- 4:07Speaker 4: And there was there's one play I completely forgot about,
- 4:10Speaker 4: which I don't know how much tackling girls you can
- 4:12Speaker 4: do nowadays, but that third and was it third and
- 4:17Speaker 4: thirteen or the guy just missed a tackle on the
- 4:18Speaker 4: screenplay and that like you got to make that tackle there.
- 4:23Speaker 4: That's gonna be one. It's gonna be brought up a
- 4:25Speaker 4: lot this week.
- 4:28Speaker 3: There were.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I know, I mean, I know which play you're talking about.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I think there were a couple of other big like
- 4:34Speaker 1: one on one tackle and we missed in that game.
- 4:39Speaker 1: There are pretty big, pretty big spots, And I mean,
- 4:44Speaker 1: I agree, that's something we haven't talked about a lot
- 4:46Speaker 1: in the past couple of years because we actually had
- 4:48Speaker 1: tackled well. Uh, but but that did show against Michigan
- 4:52Speaker 1: a couple of times that that resulted in a couple
- 4:55Speaker 1: of first downs that impacted the game. So I agree
- 4:59Speaker 1: that I think tackling drills like as much as you
- 5:02Speaker 1: do in the bye week without getting people hurt. But
- 5:07Speaker 1: I think that needs to be a focus too. That
- 5:09Speaker 1: wasn't ideal as well. Yeah, running back depth is my
- 5:15Speaker 1: other one that is, like, I mean, Rule keeps saying
- 5:19Speaker 1: it about our running backs are are good or whatever,
- 5:25Speaker 1: but man, I mean we need to figure out some
- 5:29Speaker 1: guy that can I can run behind em, and I
- 5:32Speaker 1: mean maybe even taking a step further and say just
- 5:34Speaker 1: running in general. Obviously it gets Michigan. We know the stats,
- 5:39Speaker 1: we know the numbers. We threw for over three hundred yards.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Could not get a running game going whatsoever. You're also
- 5:46Speaker 1: playing from behind, so that impacts the way the game's going.
- 5:49Speaker 1: But Rule has set it over and over and over
- 5:54Speaker 1: and over. How you have to establish a run game,
- 5:57Speaker 1: have to be a running team, blah blah blah, the
- 5:59Speaker 1: big ten. Well, yes we do, because if you don't,
- 6:05Speaker 1: I mean we will be throwing it a lot. But
- 6:06Speaker 1: does that mean you can't win by just throwing it
- 6:09Speaker 1: all the time. I don't know. I don't think so.
- 6:11Speaker 1: But I think this all goes back to the one
- 6:13Speaker 1: word that I don't want to make it a big
- 6:15Speaker 1: deal yet, but identity in what we're trying to do
- 6:23Speaker 1: on the offensive side of the football. Our run game
- 6:26Speaker 1: was not there against Michigan. Obviously against the other two
- 6:32Speaker 1: teams three teams are We had a pretty solid run game,
- 6:35Speaker 1: but that comes with a lot of things, right, a
- 6:37Speaker 1: running back, but also an offensive line.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Now saying that we like I said, first couple of
- 6:44Speaker 2: drives against Michigan, we ran the ball incredibly well, Yes,
- 6:48Speaker 2: so that is what we want to do. We just
- 6:51Speaker 2: did not could stick to it. They adjusted and.
- 6:53Speaker 1: We yeah, and then what happened I don't know after
- 6:56Speaker 1: watching us, watching film and understanding why did the run
- 7:01Speaker 1: game stall after the first couple.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Of drives and it looked like the holes are there
- 7:06Speaker 3: to run too?
- 7:07Speaker 4: Like I don't you run your offensive line like running wise.
- 7:12Speaker 4: I thought they blocked well, and that's your your intier line.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I guess blocked well. The whole game it goes just
- 7:19Speaker 4: goes back to tackles. That's the main thing you gotta
- 7:21Speaker 4: work on.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I don't. I don't know what he can do there.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I really don't.
- 7:27Speaker 1: You don't know you're god an offensive line coach.
- 7:29Speaker 4: No, like like you're just you're stuck without your guy.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I think you're just kind of screwed tackle We we
- 7:35Speaker 4: are screwed tackler us the year.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we did say we're gonna we're gonna put
- 7:40Speaker 1: a dollar every time Dak doesn't says they he'd act
- 7:45Speaker 1: them throw a dollar into a beer jar. So ye,
- 7:48Speaker 1: if we're listening live, we're gonna do that. So there's
- 7:50Speaker 1: a dollar right there. We're gonna start adding up and
- 7:54Speaker 1: see how high we can get.
- 7:57Speaker 2: We have put a counter on our video.
- 8:00Speaker 1: No we do, it'll counter the little ticker.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I might be begging on the street by nay of this.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I do think I heard this that It would
- 8:11Speaker 1: be kind of funny if dyl has to go to
- 8:13Speaker 1: Rule and say, hey, we got we gotta fire my uncle.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Our offensive line is just not very good. Not that's extreme,
- 8:20Speaker 1: but that would be kind of funny.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Uh yeah, you there's one more.
- 8:28Speaker 4: You know, Eckler is just freaking out this this by
- 8:32Speaker 4: week too about that mess vehicle, Like he's gonna have
- 8:35Speaker 4: those guys kicking all week long.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Probably Brandon's slept since the game.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Uh it's been whatever four or five six days here
- 8:53Speaker 1: my days since the Michigan loss. What's been the general
- 9:00Speaker 1: vibe or consensus that that has come out of this game?
- 9:04Speaker 1: I know there's initial reaction a couple of days. Now
- 9:06Speaker 1: we've got some time for to sit in. Just as
- 9:09Speaker 1: you guys are talking, if you're talking to people about
- 9:12Speaker 1: the game, what's been the general kind of takeaways or
- 9:17Speaker 1: by the people are having after.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I mean, nationally, it's just a brilliant of Rayola. You
- 9:25Speaker 2: think that he was the you know, second coming of Satan.
- 9:30Speaker 2: My gosh, they're not that aggressive, but everyone's just you know,
- 9:35Speaker 2: the Patrick mahomes out there blak. You know, they're like, oh,
- 9:37Speaker 2: this guy and he's not very good. And I the
- 9:43Speaker 2: people that I've talked to, you know a lot of
- 9:45Speaker 2: them are like, I don't know, I said Admittedly I
- 9:48Speaker 2: haven't talked to that many people because I work in
- 9:50Speaker 2: a very small office, but most people in my offs
- 9:53Speaker 2: are like, I feel like he's getting a little bit
- 9:57Speaker 2: grilled for unfair reasons. I thought I played pretty well,
- 10:01Speaker 2: but like there's yeah, we were talking about portand that
- 10:04Speaker 2: there's a couple of national media people that are just like, oh,
- 10:06Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes stuff, and online on Twitter, a lot of
- 10:09Speaker 2: people are going after him for Patrick Mahomes like, oh,
- 10:12Speaker 2: he hit the Patrick Mahomes flex. I was like, I
- 10:14Speaker 2: don't know if a guy flexes after, you know, a
- 10:17Speaker 2: strong play, is that a Patrick Mahomes move? I don't know.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Yeah, this is this is like the first game that
- 10:26Speaker 4: most people watch because they're all complaining about how he's acting,
- 10:29Speaker 4: like moms, he's done that his whole career, Like, but
- 10:31Speaker 4: it's really this week, it's been really.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Are honestly is the first game these people have watched?
- 10:38Speaker 3: Yeah? Probably, honestly, I.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Go obviously the narratives out there, but being a national
- 10:44Speaker 1: CBS two thirty televised game, and like Tom Bernelli, for example,
- 10:49Speaker 1: he's he's the one that you're mentioning that on CBS
- 10:52Speaker 1: he gave him three minute monologue and ripping into the
- 10:58Speaker 1: whole situation and saying how he's out on Dylan that
- 11:07Speaker 1: the defense side of that is his an eighteen year
- 11:11Speaker 1: old kid, right, and he's got a idol or someone
- 11:17Speaker 1: that he wants to I mean, as you, when you
- 11:19Speaker 1: were a kid, you wanted to be like name whoever
- 11:23Speaker 1: the athlete was you. You had dreams and goals and
- 11:27Speaker 1: asked great of being that. Now he's also a college
- 11:29Speaker 1: kid now. But like, I don't have an issue with it.
- 11:35Speaker 1: The only part that bugs me is he doesn't really
- 11:41Speaker 1: own it, like when when asked about it, like he
- 11:47Speaker 1: kind of just he kind he kind of plays with
- 11:50Speaker 1: the opposite way like no, I'm trying to be my
- 11:53Speaker 1: own person, blah blah blah. Like I respect Patrick, but like, no,
- 11:57Speaker 1: like you clearly are trying to do things that he does,
- 12:04Speaker 1: like just say it. I mean, who cares?
- 12:07Speaker 2: In my mind, well, I think if he does say that,
- 12:11Speaker 2: then he's just giving every own credibility just to blast
- 12:13Speaker 2: him for it.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, but like I think also just take
- 12:17Speaker 1: the approach of who cares, like yeah, I'm I'm I
- 12:22Speaker 1: think about how many kids are modeling Steph Curry out there,
- 12:27Speaker 1: like and emulating all of his stuff. It's yeah, like
- 12:34Speaker 1: I am. I'm like, he's one of the greatest of
- 12:38Speaker 1: all time, trying to be like I don't know that,
- 12:41Speaker 1: but it is. It's funny how this year, there or
- 12:43Speaker 1: this week they're just blowing that up again even though
- 12:46Speaker 1: we know it's there. It's I could care less as
- 12:53Speaker 1: long as it's not affecting his play in a negative way.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Like, I just don't. I don't get it why people
- 12:59Speaker 2: are so upset about now. Yeah, he's like third in
- 13:02Speaker 2: the country and completion percentage and first with what over
- 13:08Speaker 2: one hundred completions that he has over a thousand yards
- 13:11Speaker 2: of eleven touchdowns on one interception, Like, I don't understand
- 13:14Speaker 2: what we're doing. I really do.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Part of my take, which is I think the most
- 13:20Speaker 4: listened to his first podcast behind Return to Glory. They
- 13:24Speaker 4: have a weekly segment now about how weird it is
- 13:27Speaker 4: with mahomes Rayl like they talk about it. I think
- 13:30Speaker 4: we talk about Culturable every Wednesday and it gets propped
- 13:32Speaker 4: every time and they, I don't know, they're all weirded
- 13:36Speaker 4: out by it.
- 13:38Speaker 3: I don't. He needs to own up to instead and
- 13:41Speaker 3: stop like.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Stop. I don't think he's doing that much like that
- 13:48Speaker 2: other kids aren't doing.
- 13:50Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. It's yeah, it's it's just a
- 13:52Speaker 1: it's a yeah, the other kids aren't doing. He's just
- 13:57Speaker 1: one that's doing it to a very dream.
- 14:01Speaker 2: He happens to look a lot like him.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Look like him.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Number, I mean, yes, yeah, we're in the same number.
- 14:07Speaker 1: The one stat that I saw, speaking of performance, he's
- 14:11Speaker 1: the only quarterback in the country right now that's thrown
- 14:13Speaker 1: for one thousand yards, ten touchdowns, over one hundred completions,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and then seventy five above completion completion percentage. So like,
- 14:25Speaker 1: Dylan's having a very solid year so far. I mean,
- 14:29Speaker 1: I think again it comes back to a question of style,
- 14:35Speaker 1: to how you think an offense should be ran. I mean,
- 14:41Speaker 1: Dylan's very talented, like we know that. I don't think
- 14:44Speaker 1: he's any better of a runner necessarily than last year.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Maybe he's more elusive right in the pocket.
- 14:53Speaker 2: He feels more elusive in the pocket, I thought so
- 14:56Speaker 2: especially Yeah, but.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I don't know as far as running the ball, if
- 14:58Speaker 1: he's any more different. But I think being elusive that
- 15:02Speaker 1: the one complaint with Dylan in the Michigan game is
- 15:04Speaker 1: that he doesn't get rid of the ball quick enough. Well,
- 15:08Speaker 1: I mean you could argue maybe a couple of them
- 15:10Speaker 1: looking back, but for the most part, I mean, Jesus,
- 15:12Speaker 1: your yeah guys face every other every other place, so like.
- 15:18Speaker 3: That.
- 15:18Speaker 1: That's hard, right. I think some people would this is
- 15:22Speaker 1: just part of being a quarterback. Some people would like
- 15:24Speaker 1: you when you're getting pressured just to instead of taking
- 15:27Speaker 1: a sack, like throwing it at your running backs ankles
- 15:31Speaker 1: and taking an incomplete pass versus taking a sack. I
- 15:37Speaker 1: can only imagine Husker fans when Dylan throws it at
- 15:40Speaker 1: somebody's ankles and they go, what is he doing? That
- 15:43Speaker 1: was stupid? What is going like that? That's the alternative,
- 15:46Speaker 1: And people are gonna be pissed off about that too,
- 15:48Speaker 1: because that's just how the people that don't understand football.
- 15:52Speaker 1: So I get it, But you see the NFL guys
- 15:54Speaker 1: do that all the time. Like I'm just imagining Rogers
- 15:56Speaker 1: catching it, taking two steps and just throwing it at
- 15:58Speaker 1: the running back's ankles and then all the time like that.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Those are the kind of things I think that are
- 16:06Speaker 1: better than taking a sack. But I mean, yeah, Michigan,
- 16:09Speaker 1: Michigan got a lot of pressure on us, and that
- 16:11Speaker 1: goes back to the tackle conversation. That goes back to
- 16:15Speaker 1: the offensive line and the place that we didn't think
- 16:20Speaker 1: we have many issues there, but maybe have more than
- 16:22Speaker 1: we thought going into the year.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Maybe, I mean, what was what was the consensus on
- 16:30Speaker 2: our record for the year. Did we wasn't a consensus
- 16:34Speaker 2: nine and three within our group, not nationally on our
- 16:39Speaker 2: little pool that you had, No.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I mean, I think a lot of a lot of
- 16:43Speaker 1: it was even less than that. So I do want
- 16:45Speaker 1: to talk about that here in switching gears. So I
- 16:50Speaker 1: think with a loss like this, I mean, I do
- 16:56Speaker 1: think some people are overreacting. This was not a game
- 17:02Speaker 1: going into the year I thought we would win. I
- 17:05Speaker 1: think some people maybe have this is a fifty to
- 17:10Speaker 1: fifty game at best, maybe a little higher. I think
- 17:15Speaker 1: Michigan getting beat by Oklahoma the way that happened maybe
- 17:20Speaker 1: raised people's thoughts expectations on this game a little bit.
- 17:26Speaker 1: But Oklahoma was probably a lot better than people thought too.
- 17:29Speaker 1: So that all being said, when you go back to
- 17:32Speaker 1: where everybody was at the beginning of the year, I mean,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I think if you had a what a bet to make,
- 17:41Speaker 1: you probably would have thought would be three and one, right,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I mean, some people might thought we'd be.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Four zho, but.
- 17:48Speaker 1: It's not the end of the world in the grand
- 17:51Speaker 1: scheme of things for the season. Why we're on track
- 17:54Speaker 1: is still get whereverbody thought we want to get to
- 17:57Speaker 1: is eight and four, nine and three as we move forward.
- 18:02Speaker 1: So I agree. People like the way the game's played out,
- 18:07Speaker 1: the Cincinnati game, which to me played out about exactly
- 18:10Speaker 1: as I thought. Some people hope we're hoping different differently
- 18:14Speaker 1: the other two games. I'm just throwing those out the door.
- 18:17Speaker 1: And then and then Michigan or three and one heading
- 18:22Speaker 1: into our first by week, I think that's right where
- 18:26Speaker 1: the majority had us, right.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I agree, like I think most people
- 18:35Speaker 2: thought we radio against Cincinnati, Michigan, probably Michigan. I'm hoping
- 18:41Speaker 2: Michigan's gonna end up doing pretty well in the year.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I don't know what their their schedule looks like, but
- 18:48Speaker 2: I can't say Underwood struck fear into my hearts as
- 18:52Speaker 2: far as the national title contender. But I think most
- 18:58Speaker 2: people thought we were going to be four do or
- 18:59Speaker 2: three in one, and I venture to yes, non Husker
- 19:03Speaker 2: fans are like, and there'll be three and one or
- 19:06Speaker 2: non diehard fans. There are a couple of people who
- 19:08Speaker 2: are a little carried away. Yeah, this guy's not falling.
- 19:15Speaker 2: We're fine. We'll see how the rest of the season
- 19:18Speaker 2: shakes out. But you look at our schedule, no one
- 19:22Speaker 2: on the schedule is really elevated beyond what we thought
- 19:26Speaker 2: they were going to be.
- 19:27Speaker 1: And I do think coming off of two games where
- 19:30Speaker 1: there really weren't any negatives for whatever reason, I think
- 19:35Speaker 1: you take and you see some issues right against Michigan
- 19:39Speaker 1: and you think, oh crap. And I think what people,
- 19:42Speaker 1: including myself a little bit, where the where the concerns
- 19:45Speaker 1: come in is if some of these things that we've
- 19:48Speaker 1: talked about, talk about your tackle play, the defensive line,
- 19:52Speaker 1: you know, lack of depth of running back. If some
- 19:55Speaker 1: of those things stay weaknesses, you know, how does that
- 19:59Speaker 1: impact these next few games or the rest of the
- 20:03Speaker 1: games on our schedule? And where where does that put us?
- 20:06Speaker 1: I think that is where you think for the future
- 20:11Speaker 1: on the schedule, can we win games given those weaknesses
- 20:16Speaker 1: or those flaws? I think the answer still yes. Not
- 20:19Speaker 1: everybody's gonna have a perfect team. If you were, you'd
- 20:23Speaker 1: be going undefeated. But I do think when you look
- 20:27Speaker 1: at for example, the lack of this upfront play on
- 20:30Speaker 1: both both sides of the ball. We're not gonna be
- 20:34Speaker 1: playing a bunch of Michigan's the rest of the year.
- 20:37Speaker 1: There're gonna be a couple that will be similar. But
- 20:39Speaker 1: even I've heard that maybe USC is not they're not
- 20:43Speaker 1: Michigan upfront. They're gonna be better in maybe other areas
- 20:46Speaker 1: that Michigan's not, but they probably won't be as strong
- 20:50Speaker 1: as strong as Michigan is in the trenches. So you know,
- 20:54Speaker 1: Penn State obviously will be probably better. Iowa, you know,
- 20:59Speaker 1: is gonna be wrong and in the offensitive defensive line
- 21:02Speaker 1: as they always are. But as far as these next
- 21:06Speaker 1: four games, we're just gonna segment it up, you know,
- 21:10Speaker 1: Michigan State, Maryland, Northwestern Minnesota. Like those are games that
- 21:19Speaker 1: if the season's intact and where we're going, we could
- 21:24Speaker 1: go four and oh in.
- 21:25Speaker 2: This stretch, I would guess we would probably lose one
- 21:30Speaker 2: of them, maybe Maryland, But I agree, like we very well.
- 21:37Speaker 2: We go four and know alsunder seven and one going
- 21:40Speaker 2: into the USC at home, you're feeling different, you're feeling good,
- 21:45Speaker 2: You're already blocked in the bowl game. You got us
- 21:49Speaker 2: U c l A, which I'm not gonna say is
- 21:52Speaker 2: a guarantee, but gosh, they look bad.
- 21:55Speaker 1: So I heard someone ask, this is what an have
- 22:00Speaker 1: been more important to beat Michigan or go four to
- 22:05Speaker 1: o in these next four games? Which one would mean more?
- 22:08Speaker 2: Dah Michigan. Oh, Dak, he's thinking about it.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Dak hasn't talked over there. He's just he's just being quiet.
- 22:16Speaker 1: He's still waking up.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Probably fourn no in these next four.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Because because we we all figured that they'd be three
- 22:33Speaker 4: and one these next four.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you're seven to one then dollar who I think, Yeah,
- 22:44Speaker 3: these next four, I don't know. That's a tough question, and.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Truly not just have an opinion.
- 22:52Speaker 3: I know im.
- 22:54Speaker 4: I'd say four and oh, because how long is Manson's
- 22:58Speaker 4: The brass had a Fournoh stretching the big like that.
- 23:01Speaker 4: I mean, we expected Nebraska's gonna lose the Michigan. These
- 23:06Speaker 4: next four are games you should win, so we had
- 23:10Speaker 4: expectation you should win. We we should win those games.
- 23:17Speaker 4: So got there, got there and win the ones that
- 23:19Speaker 4: you expect to win.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I go ahead. Also, I was gonna say, I feel
- 23:28Speaker 2: like a ranked opponent naturally televised game. I think that
- 23:31Speaker 2: was more important to win that was.
- 23:35Speaker 4: That.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I mean, we haven't beat a ranked opponent since twenty sixteen.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I think if I saw Matt Rule hasn't beaten one
- 23:42Speaker 2: since he was a temple yep. I think that's more
- 23:46Speaker 2: important to get that monkey off your back than it
- 23:48Speaker 2: is to go four to Oh.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I agree. And and if you so here, here's what's hard. Yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 1: I mean, if you're saying we beat Michigan, but then
- 23:58Speaker 1: we go slip one up Maryland or something. For me,
- 24:04Speaker 1: I personally think for the program, we need to win
- 24:10Speaker 1: these next four to show that not that we can
- 24:13Speaker 1: win four in our own the Big ten necessarily, but
- 24:15Speaker 1: that we're better than some of these bottom dwellers, which
- 24:23Speaker 1: maybe there aren't too many bottom dwellers here, but Northwestern
- 24:26Speaker 1: for sure. Maryland obviously has looked better this year so far,
- 24:31Speaker 1: but they do this every year, So we can hopefully
- 24:36Speaker 1: win that one. I mean, I think it's gonna be
- 24:37Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be a tough one to go
- 24:39Speaker 1: win Michigan State. And I mean, let's just put it
- 24:44Speaker 1: this way. We were two and a half point underdogs
- 24:48Speaker 1: right to Michigan at home. I don't know the spreads.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I'm just guessing we're going to be a touchdown favorite
- 24:57Speaker 1: at home against Michigan State on the road at Maryland.
- 25:03Speaker 1: I think a lot of it's can depend on how
- 25:05Speaker 1: that Michigan State game goes and how Maryland does against Washington.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I would anticipate as being a three to seven point
- 25:14Speaker 1: favorite at Maryland Northwestern. We're going to be probably more
- 25:20Speaker 1: in a touchdown maybe ten point favorite against Northwestern, and
- 25:26Speaker 1: then on the road at Minnesota. You know that, I
- 25:28Speaker 1: think that's going to be a pretty much close to
- 25:30Speaker 1: a pick them. But basically what I'm saying is we're
- 25:34Speaker 1: supposed to from Vegas the standpoint, win those games, and
- 25:39Speaker 1: if we can go out and show that we can
- 25:40Speaker 1: win the games, we should win. I think that that's
- 25:43Speaker 1: a pretty big step forward, even though yes, getting the
- 25:46Speaker 1: monkey up your back and beating a top twenty five team,
- 25:50Speaker 1: all those things you mentioned us and I think that's
- 25:52Speaker 1: also a huge I think for the program. Though, to
- 25:56Speaker 1: Sha say know like we're above that, we're in this
- 25:58Speaker 1: middle echelon tier right now, you know, with the Michigans,
- 26:02Speaker 1: like the Michigans Iowa's I think that means probably more
- 26:06Speaker 1: to me right now now we can't pull the Bowl
- 26:11Speaker 1: Polini and never win the Big Game, because that's also
- 26:16Speaker 1: very frustrated. But I think we'll get those opportunities still
- 26:22Speaker 1: in the future.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Which the next four games are you guys most worried about,
- 26:27Speaker 4: because I've saw consensus on from high fans on Twitter and.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Oh wow, okay, that's not.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I'm Minnesota, Minnesota.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Minnesota is the one. I was gonna say, that's the one.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Would you count that one? If they win?
- 26:42Speaker 2: That one?
- 26:43Speaker 4: Is getting the monkey off their back a little bit.
- 26:45Speaker 4: SOA's kind of Minnesota's kind of dominated Nebraska since they've
- 26:49Speaker 4: gone the Big Ten.
- 26:50Speaker 1: No, I think when when when you consider the monkey
- 26:54Speaker 1: the big game that we're talking about, right, it's it's
- 26:57Speaker 1: the nationally televised, the Big I'm not going to say
- 27:01Speaker 1: I have to be a blue blood, but like it's
- 27:04Speaker 1: it's the mission. Yeah maybe us, yeah, us. The I mean,
- 27:08Speaker 1: I don't think we have too many opportunities is here
- 27:10Speaker 1: given our schedule.
- 27:12Speaker 2: I'm not saying that we.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Don't beat the top five team either. I don't think
- 27:16Speaker 1: that's an expectation. I mean, it would be great, obviously,
- 27:18Speaker 1: and that would be getting the monkey off your back,
- 27:20Speaker 1: but it's it's it's winning the I mean Colorado last
- 27:23Speaker 1: year was kind of close, like nationally televised big game,
- 27:26Speaker 1: but Colorado obviously was not ranked, so you can't cross
- 27:31Speaker 1: that off when you're when you're talking about it. But
- 27:34Speaker 1: I I do. I think this Mission game was a
- 27:36Speaker 1: big opportunity, a big ceiling, a big thing that say
- 27:41Speaker 1: we can do this, and we didn't. But like we
- 27:43Speaker 1: talked about going in and I don't think it didn't
- 27:45Speaker 1: drop the bottom off by losing it. It just was
- 27:47Speaker 1: an opportunity to take the really big next step and
- 27:50Speaker 1: we did we weren't able to do it. So yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 1: it wasn't like the season, and some people I think
- 27:57Speaker 1: are maybe overreacting, but I didn't think the season and
- 27:59Speaker 1: going up, crap, here we go again, this is stupid,
- 28:03Speaker 1: Like it didn't have that feel to it. After losing it,
- 28:06Speaker 1: there's still opportunities in front of us. It's going to
- 28:10Speaker 1: be though, how does this team respond to that loss
- 28:15Speaker 1: and given some of the weaknesses we've seen, what does
- 28:17Speaker 1: that imply here for the next few games on our
- 28:20Speaker 1: schedule and can we get those games done? Because we
- 28:23Speaker 1: won't we won't have another big game for a while,
- 28:25Speaker 1: like nationally implied check the box. I don't think Minnesota
- 28:30Speaker 1: is one of those.
- 28:31Speaker 3: No.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Maybe maybe internally because we can't beat them, but it's
- 28:36Speaker 1: not it's not a.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Nobody cares about the Neska Minnesota game except for.
- 28:41Speaker 1: I mean, it will be a Friday night game, so
- 28:43Speaker 1: probably everyone. I don't think that's that's not the magnitude
- 28:48Speaker 1: we're talking about here.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Yeah, there's there's definitely some make opportunity there. There isn't really,
- 28:57Speaker 4: but the two big ones are that, like you said,
- 28:59Speaker 4: you have seen in state, which USC could be USC
- 29:02Speaker 4: could be top ten game by then. I don't know
- 29:04Speaker 4: what their schedule looks like, but that's that's I'm not
- 29:08Speaker 4: counting Penn State. I don't think there's a high shot
- 29:11Speaker 4: at all that Nebraskan's that one. But the USC one
- 29:13Speaker 4: I think is the big one at all.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I do think, for example of a Penn State conversation,
- 29:19Speaker 1: depending on where they said, competing in.
- 29:22Speaker 3: That game, that's big.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's huge showing that you're not that far off,
- 29:27Speaker 1: which we kind of did against Ohio State last year, right,
- 29:31Speaker 1: So I think that speaks louder than than obviously getting
- 29:37Speaker 1: blown out like that. That's that's what you're looking for there. So,
- 29:41Speaker 1: like I said, I don't think, as far as I'm
- 29:44Speaker 1: taking from acting, what.
- 29:50Speaker 2: It's okay to take it time they walked away all
- 29:54Speaker 2: getting called out, let's be getting called in.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Good God. So yeah, I think we're all we're all
- 30:04Speaker 1: kind of an agreeance here. I think most Nebraska fans
- 30:07Speaker 1: are too. There's obviously just all of the nitpicking, all
- 30:11Speaker 1: the Dilan rayl and stuff and all of that after
- 30:14Speaker 1: this week. But but I don't think it's I don't
- 30:20Speaker 1: think it's time to just flip the ship here.
- 30:23Speaker 2: It's not chill out on Delan rail because Peop will
- 30:27Speaker 2: leave us, and he can't leave us for a bigger,
- 30:29Speaker 2: better program. Sometimes say we need to handle with white gloves,
- 30:33Speaker 2: but when he's played really well, we probably don't need
- 30:36Speaker 2: to be like you're a piece of shit.
- 30:38Speaker 1: It's speaking speaking of leaving. And this is the other
- 30:41Speaker 1: thing that's been out there. Gundhi gets fired at Oklahoma
- 30:46Speaker 1: State a couple of days ago, and one of the
- 30:50Speaker 1: leading candidates here for that job, or maybe not leading,
- 30:54Speaker 1: but so a name that's got thrown out is Dana Holgerson, going,
- 30:58Speaker 1: what are the thoughts on that?
- 31:01Speaker 2: Billy? It was kind of wild data was on the
- 31:04Speaker 2: shelf and we're like, hey, do you want to come here?
- 31:08Speaker 2: And he's only coordinated five games for six games, and
- 31:12Speaker 2: they're like, this guy's a new Oklahoma State head coach.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Technically, Yeah, I don't think that's doesn't he remind you
- 31:19Speaker 4: a lot of my Gundy though, Like personality wise, yeah.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I mean he he did coach for Gundy a couple
- 31:28Speaker 1: of years before Dana became a head coach as the
- 31:31Speaker 1: OC down there, So I think that's kind of the
- 31:36Speaker 1: ties that he does had a little bit of background
- 31:38Speaker 1: at Oklahoma State.
- 31:40Speaker 4: I think I think Fulguson's loving here right now. I
- 31:43Speaker 4: don't think he's at the age where he wants to
- 31:46Speaker 4: go back and be a head coach anymore. I think
- 31:48Speaker 4: he's just gonna be coordinated the rest of his life.
- 31:50Speaker 4: But who knows, well.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Head coach be disappointed. But you know that's how it goes.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I guess when you hire good coordinators.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Yeah, he I've heard. I mean the Husker. The inside
- 32:09Speaker 1: of things is he's loving life as a coordinator, doesn't
- 32:13Speaker 1: have all the responsibilities as a head coach, doesn't that the
- 32:15Speaker 1: work is hard at his age, likes it here because
- 32:20Speaker 1: he all those things, but you see flips out of
- 32:23Speaker 1: it's the money. I personally do think he wants to
- 32:26Speaker 1: be a head coach before he's all said and done again.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I think he will land somewhere after a few years.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I don't know when that'll be and what kind of
- 32:38Speaker 1: job that is, but for right now at Nebraska will
- 32:43Speaker 1: take him while we can get him, and we'll see.
- 32:48Speaker 1: I think obviously, when you start having that conversation with
- 32:53Speaker 1: any movement now in college football in the transfer portal,
- 32:59Speaker 1: you bring that and then gets iteration. And I'm not
- 33:01Speaker 1: implying that Dana would take key players from Nebraska, but if.
- 33:05Speaker 2: There would be key players that would go to Oklahoma States,
- 33:11Speaker 2: would I be Dilana? Who knows?
- 33:16Speaker 1: That's that's what's earlier Austin like be nice or he's
- 33:23Speaker 1: out of here like I. It's a little bit of it.
- 33:27Speaker 1: I think if Dylan starts getting the shaft from Husker fans,
- 33:33Speaker 1: he's gonna say ethic.
- 33:35Speaker 2: If he's not going to Oklahoma State.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Though no, I agree, I don't think he's going there here.
- 33:41Speaker 1: And you know what, some some Oscar fans would be
- 33:44Speaker 1: like great Latief can play. I just think all of that,
- 33:49Speaker 1: all of that's so like it is, it's so out
- 33:52Speaker 1: of proportion right now. Now, lose two of our next.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Four, she's gonna hit the fans.
- 34:01Speaker 1: We're going to really hit some adverse in the year,
- 34:03Speaker 1: and it's gonna be okay, Like what's going on? I mean,
- 34:07Speaker 1: for for whatever those reasons are. Well, I mean, who
- 34:09Speaker 1: knows if we were to lose to it or why
- 34:11Speaker 1: that would be if it's the same things we're saying
- 34:13Speaker 1: or new things popping up. But yeah, I mean, I
- 34:17Speaker 1: don't think we should expect to lose to the next four.
- 34:19Speaker 1: I think we should expect to win the games that
- 34:20Speaker 1: we're favored to win, because.
- 34:23Speaker 2: That's what favored.
- 34:26Speaker 1: But we'll see, Like I think that that just there's
- 34:29Speaker 1: a lot of just speculation and predicting right now that
- 34:35Speaker 1: that you can do. But I don't think there's any
- 34:37Speaker 1: It's fun, but I don't think there's any reason that
- 34:39Speaker 1: any of it's truthful yet. It's because it's still one
- 34:43Speaker 1: game that we just got to.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Now here's another question, my next four, the next four games?
- 34:50Speaker 4: Which those four games? Would you be most pissed that
- 34:52Speaker 4: you lost Northwestern?
- 34:57Speaker 2: Yeah, well that we should have definitely shouldn't lose probably
- 35:03Speaker 2: will vantage two.
- 35:06Speaker 1: I mean this Michigan State one would hurt a little bit.
- 35:08Speaker 4: I think that was that was the one I was
- 35:10Speaker 4: going to say, I mean Northwestern of it. Yeah, I
- 35:12Speaker 4: done losing back to back games.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Not great, not great. It's kind of like last year
- 35:19Speaker 2: we would you know what do we go five and
- 35:21Speaker 2: one to start the year. Yep, and then we lost
- 35:25Speaker 2: the next five.
- 35:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess I guess the Northwestern out so Maryland,
- 35:32Speaker 4: Minnesota and Michigan State. I think Michigan State would be
- 35:36Speaker 4: the worst loss out of those three, just because coming
- 35:40Speaker 4: off by week back to back losses that as some
- 35:46Speaker 4: fans starts freak out a little bit, is in the
- 35:49Speaker 4: Michigan State's one the better this year, but they haven't
- 35:53Speaker 4: been good in years.
- 35:55Speaker 3: That's this.
- 35:56Speaker 4: This is the one you got at home if Nebraska
- 35:59Speaker 4: should win out of those three.
- 36:07Speaker 2: So I guess what are the reset expectations here? Are
- 36:11Speaker 2: we still thinking? Eight? Four nighted three?
- 36:14Speaker 3: I haven't changed from what I think at nine three.
- 36:20Speaker 2: I think I was even four. I feel like that's
- 36:24Speaker 2: that's about right. I actually, I honestly feel a little
- 36:26Speaker 2: bit more bullish about the nine and three.
- 36:28Speaker 4: To be honest, I haven't changed one bit from what
- 36:33Speaker 4: I I still think nine and three. I think they
- 36:37Speaker 4: Nebraska's going to slip up. I think Minnesota is the
- 36:42Speaker 4: one they're gonna be. They're gonna slip up. But but
- 36:47Speaker 4: I still think nine to three lose Penn State. I
- 36:51Speaker 4: do think nebrask can be usc So there's nine.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Three incredible adalysis by Dak yep.
- 37:00Speaker 4: As as always, there's a schedule breakdown.
- 37:07Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, I'm still I'm still eight
- 37:09Speaker 1: and four probably as far as predicting records.
- 37:15Speaker 2: So we still have two more ranked oponents on the schedule.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I mean, I see it one of those.
- 37:21Speaker 1: But I just I want I want us to be
- 37:26Speaker 1: this year like coming out of this year. I want
- 37:31Speaker 1: us to get to the point that we're back to
- 37:33Speaker 1: the middle of the conversation, right of the big ten.
- 37:38Speaker 1: So I think when you do that, then then you're
- 37:40Speaker 1: at You're at a spot so you don't take any
- 37:42Speaker 1: steps back where And I'm gonna say it like Iowa,
- 37:48Speaker 1: where you can compete in a given year with a
- 37:53Speaker 1: given schedule to make the playoffs, whether it be twelve
- 37:57Speaker 1: or they're expanding at the sixteen, whatever that might look like,
- 38:01Speaker 1: You're you're there if you can, if you can put
- 38:03Speaker 1: yourself in that middle echelon tier after the past few years,
- 38:07Speaker 1: I don't think you can say that we are yet
- 38:10Speaker 1: until we.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Saw the Iowa's game against India this week is the
- 38:16Speaker 2: first ranked opponent in over like a thousand days to
- 38:20Speaker 2: play in Iowa City. They avoided playing a ranked opponent
- 38:24Speaker 2: in Iowa City for over three years.
- 38:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it does seem like they always have the easiest
- 38:30Speaker 4: schedule possible.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Well, they were in the Big ten West for a
- 38:34Speaker 2: long time.
- 38:35Speaker 3: Yeah, that that ends there.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I yeah, I think we winning these next four games,
- 38:44Speaker 1: or you know, at least going three and one like
- 38:48Speaker 1: that to me helps we feel better about where we're heading. Okay,
- 38:56Speaker 1: I think in the past, right like we we have,
- 38:58Speaker 1: we've killed Northwestern in a couple of recent years. You know,
- 39:03Speaker 1: a game, the Maryland game, for example, I would hope,
- 39:06Speaker 1: I would venture to think, I would hope that we
- 39:08Speaker 1: are in a better spot as a program than Maryland,
- 39:11Speaker 1: even though we have to go play on the road there,
- 39:13Speaker 1: which at another level of toughness there. But you want
- 39:17Speaker 1: to say you're better in Maryland, Michigan State, you want
- 39:19Speaker 1: to say that you're better than where Jonathan Smith is
- 39:23Speaker 1: in year two at Michigan State. We're in year three.
- 39:26Speaker 1: You know, we're a year ahead of our program. Where
- 39:28Speaker 1: we're at. You want to say that we're better than that.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Minnesota is one that is in that tier with us
- 39:34Speaker 1: that we just can't get the bugaboo to beat them.
- 39:36Speaker 1: But you want to say, Okay, we're taking a step forward.
- 39:38Speaker 1: We're going to beat him this year. That's where That's
- 39:41Speaker 1: where I think you want to see the progress and
- 39:43Speaker 1: step forward for the rest of the year. Winning a big,
- 39:47Speaker 1: big game like Michigan would be would have been awesome.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Obviously beating in Penn State, beating Iowa this year, beating
- 39:53Speaker 1: Iowa this year, just finding a way to beat Iowa, those.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Games be okay. I mean, they had a shoot out
- 40:00Speaker 2: with Maryland.
- 40:02Speaker 1: And those are the games that that we I don't
- 40:07Speaker 1: know if we're counting them as wins. I mean, I
- 40:08Speaker 1: guess we kind of are like dak saying nine to three.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I guess we are counting those as wins. Like I
- 40:15Speaker 1: guess for me, it's why are we counting those as wins?
- 40:19Speaker 1: But if we believe that we're moving that way, then
- 40:22Speaker 1: they should be. We'll see that that that's where you're
- 40:28Speaker 1: you're eight and four could quickly turn into six and
- 40:30Speaker 1: six if you can't go beat Maryland and Minnesota on
- 40:36Speaker 1: the road, and you can't beat Iowa because Iowa just
- 40:40Speaker 1: finds a way to.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Win.
- 40:44Speaker 1: But however they do it so that that's where that
- 40:46Speaker 1: dust rate everything six and then if that happens, well,
- 40:48Speaker 1: then we're then where are we sitting?
- 40:50Speaker 2: You know?
- 40:50Speaker 1: Then then then when then what do you think? What
- 40:52Speaker 1: do we think about everything that's going on? And when
- 40:55Speaker 1: I say we, I'm including the players and the coaches,
- 40:57Speaker 1: like you're going.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Well, you can go six and six this year, the
- 41:03Speaker 2: sky will be following.
- 41:04Speaker 1: I mean that that, to me is is definitely not progress.
- 41:07Speaker 1: I mean, everybody can sell everybody's gonna say that, So
- 41:12Speaker 1: I don't think I don't think anybody thinks it's gonna happen.
- 41:15Speaker 1: But that's the scenario, Like, okay, could it?
- 41:21Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 41:21Speaker 1: Good? I mean we could lose all we could lose
- 41:25Speaker 1: all these games. We really could, Like, let's be real,
- 41:29Speaker 1: in a world that we're not improving, we could lose
- 41:33Speaker 1: every single one of them the rest of the year.
- 41:35Speaker 1: I don't. I mean, maybe maybe you can give Northwestern,
- 41:38Speaker 1: maybe u C l A chock up wins. So there's five.
- 41:43Speaker 1: But I don't think there's a world where that we're
- 41:45Speaker 1: gonna give ourselves any other games.
- 41:48Speaker 4: So we're so we're sitting now, what number of wins
- 41:52Speaker 4: and I don't care who the wins lost our games?
- 41:54Speaker 4: What number wins would you guys be happy coming out
- 41:57Speaker 4: of the year with?
- 41:57Speaker 2: Now, what number of which would be happy with?
- 42:02Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, I think it's the minimum.
- 42:07Speaker 2: We go seven to five. I'm still not very happy.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Who that means realize.
- 42:13Speaker 4: A couple of the game that I don't want to lose.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't just got called out.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Yeah he's gone.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Now seven, seven's top. Given how seven goes, there could
- 42:28Speaker 1: be there could be a there could be a path
- 42:33Speaker 1: that seven and five. I'm not super upset, but it
- 42:36Speaker 1: most likely is not going to be the case. I mean,
- 42:40Speaker 1: I actually I don't know what that case would because
- 42:41Speaker 1: if we have seven and five were losing close games,
- 42:43Speaker 1: it's also not good. That's what's hard now is even
- 42:46Speaker 1: losing close games is not good anymore. But wet so
- 42:49Speaker 1: many of them.
- 42:50Speaker 2: The way you feel good about seven to five is
- 42:52Speaker 2: I was undefeated, and USC is undefeated in states, undefeated,
- 43:00Speaker 2: and you just run into like this surprise.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Which I don't which I guess could happen. I don't
- 43:06Speaker 1: think that's probably. I mean, let's look at the rest
- 43:08Speaker 1: of these teams on the schedule as far as resetting
- 43:11Speaker 1: a releveling expectation. Let's go through them going into the year.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Give me stock up or stock I should should specify
- 43:19Speaker 1: are we more or less scared of them from where
- 43:24Speaker 1: we were beginning of the year. So I'll go through
- 43:25Speaker 1: each team here really quick. Don't need an explanation, just
- 43:28Speaker 1: quick answer, real quick. Michigan State.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Uh less, quick answer, dag less.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I'm going I'm going neutral, no change, you know, all
- 43:47Speaker 1: of a sudden that.
- 43:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I was gonna ask if we go neutral
- 43:49Speaker 4: because I'm exactly I thought they'd be.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Uh Maryland at Maryland more yep, I would say, but
- 44:00Speaker 1: I mean to be only by a little bit. I
- 44:02Speaker 1: just I don't know what Maryland's got yet. They haven't
- 44:04Speaker 1: played much. I think Wisconsin is really bad, guys, I
- 44:10Speaker 1: really do. I think they're horrible.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Hey, at least Minnesota.
- 44:19Speaker 1: M hm neutral neutral for me too. I just I
- 44:23Speaker 1: think that they're playing as they are seem going in
- 44:27Speaker 1: Northwestern more less neutral to me. I don't think they've
- 44:32Speaker 1: changed us USC.
- 44:39Speaker 4: More.
- 44:39Speaker 3: They're better than what I thought.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Probably neutral neutral for me too, they're but I mean
- 44:47Speaker 1: they're I thought they were gonna be pretty. I thought
- 44:49Speaker 1: they'd take a big step forward here u c l a.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Wait less.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the one that I'm like. Going into the year,
- 44:59Speaker 1: I was like, oh boy, I don't want to go
- 45:00Speaker 1: to UCLA and play the game. Now I'm like, we
- 45:02Speaker 1: should win that game. Penn State neutral they are, they are, Iowa.
- 45:12Speaker 3: More less neutral, more or less. Let's just good. Let
- 45:20Speaker 3: me see another week.
- 45:21Speaker 4: Grenowski in a big ten and.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Coming home this week, so it'll be that'll be a big,
- 45:29Speaker 2: a big game of whether I'm more worried about them
- 45:31Speaker 2: or not. But the fact that they put up like
- 45:33Speaker 2: over thirty points a couple of times this year, it's like, gosh,
- 45:35Speaker 2: we barely beat them when they could only get six
- 45:37Speaker 2: first downs.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Yeah that's yeah, that's a good point. I mean their offense,
- 45:43Speaker 1: we can.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Hardly beat them when they scored ten points. Also, they
- 45:47Speaker 2: can put thirty eight.
- 45:48Speaker 1: It's like, oh boy, I don't know if their defense
- 45:51Speaker 1: is as good as they as they have in the
- 45:53Speaker 1: past couple of.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Years, but it doesn't matter for us.
- 45:57Speaker 1: I don't know. I guess I look at our schedule
- 45:59Speaker 1: and and I I was neutral based for all of them.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I don't think any besides U, C.
- 46:03Speaker 2: L A.
- 46:04Speaker 1: I don't think anybody's that much better worse than what
- 46:07Speaker 1: we thought. So I think that really only helps us.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I don't know where we're at. I think I think
- 46:15Speaker 1: everything's kind of going as expected if if we want
- 46:17Speaker 1: to go that way. For myself, there's not much change
- 46:22Speaker 1: for me as we go through, which I think is good, right, Like,
- 46:25Speaker 1: let let's let's see where we're at if we want
- 46:28Speaker 1: to chunk it up in the next four games and
- 46:30Speaker 1: see where we're at after the next four games. I
- 46:33Speaker 1: believe our next bye week isn't until pre Penn State, So.
- 46:39Speaker 3: Well, there you go.
- 46:42Speaker 1: I think that's gonna matter. Thing is gonna help us
- 46:43Speaker 1: win that game.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Deck ye, right, for the big one't hurt.
- 46:49Speaker 1: So yeah, we have we have we have a big
- 46:51Speaker 1: chunk here. We have six games here that once we
- 46:54Speaker 1: get that rolling in the games, we'll see where we're at.
- 46:58Speaker 1: But anyways, all right, anything else State one team.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Penn State's one team I'm not sold on yet. They
- 47:06Speaker 4: haven't looked good either yet, that is, this weekend will
- 47:09Speaker 4: prove a lot for them. I don't think they'll look
- 47:11Speaker 4: good to start the year yet. I'm I'm kind of
- 47:14Speaker 4: selling I'm selling my stock a little bit on Penn
- 47:17Speaker 4: State right now.
- 47:17Speaker 3: We'll see this weekend.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Yeah, big one against Oregon this week. It would be
- 47:23Speaker 1: a fun one to watch. Saturday night. Ohio State plays
- 47:26Speaker 1: at Washington. I think is kind of a little bit
- 47:28Speaker 1: of a sleeper game for them. Yeah, I'll Washington's look
- 47:32Speaker 1: decent so far. I think I still think. I mean,
- 47:36Speaker 1: I think they're still kind of your three Ohio State, Oregon,
- 47:41Speaker 1: Penn State. But then Indiana. I guess right now, I
- 47:44Speaker 1: don't know what you do with them. I mean, that's
- 47:46Speaker 1: that's been a very I mean last week that was
- 47:49Speaker 1: like a whoa. I mean, who beats anybody sixty three
- 47:51Speaker 1: to ten, let alone a top ten team. You know,
- 47:55Speaker 1: where do you where do you throw them at? Maybe
- 47:57Speaker 1: you throw them in there with them right now in
- 47:58Speaker 1: the top tier of the big ten.
- 48:00Speaker 3: I would, right right now, I would.
- 48:05Speaker 2: I'm scared of d don't play them.
- 48:08Speaker 4: Yeah, they look good, they look in signetti as we
- 48:13Speaker 4: want to dive into it.
- 48:14Speaker 3: How he's how he's turned that program around so quick.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that that's a another hot topic. I
- 48:23Speaker 1: guess that I've heard this week is how he's done
- 48:27Speaker 1: that Indiana, And I've heard a lot of Husker fans
- 48:31Speaker 1: in media calling it now an anomaly and that that's
- 48:36Speaker 1: not going to happen everywhere. Well, yes and no, right,
- 48:40Speaker 1: Like I get it, it is an anomaly or an outlier,
- 48:44Speaker 1: like it is the most impressive feet from I mean
- 48:47Speaker 1: Indiana guys, I think they.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Were bottom of the worst teams in Division One.
- 48:54Speaker 1: But they were horrible and he was able to come
- 48:57Speaker 1: in and and tried him throw any excuse in there
- 49:01Speaker 1: that you want, Well, he brought, he brought, He was
- 49:03Speaker 1: able to bring his full team in from James Madison
- 49:07Speaker 1: and so that that was a big Yeah, it was.
- 49:09Speaker 1: It was a big reason why. I mean that's part
- 49:12Speaker 1: of it. And and his quarterback have a new quarterback
- 49:19Speaker 1: in the rear. Yeah, and the resource like everything everything
- 49:21Speaker 1: that goes along with it. Like it's just been impressive. Yeah,
- 49:27Speaker 1: I as far as an anomaly goes, and it's what
- 49:30Speaker 1: people kind of calling it, that won't ever happen again,
- 49:32Speaker 1: I disagree, Like there are so many coaches out there
- 49:36Speaker 1: or situations like that that probably could find a similar situation.
- 49:39Speaker 1: I'm not saying Nebraska right now is what we need
- 49:41Speaker 1: to do, and.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Just transfer Parol is going to make it possible. It's
- 49:46Speaker 2: gonna happen. Yeah, it's not gonna happen every time, but
- 49:48Speaker 2: it's going to happen. You're right.
- 49:51Speaker 1: So, I mean it's impressive and and and well, I
- 49:54Speaker 1: honestly thought this year there might might be a little
- 49:57Speaker 1: bit of regression with them. It's been the opposite, so
- 50:05Speaker 1: that that is kind of he's kind of proven me
- 50:07Speaker 1: wrong there as far as what he's building in Indiana.
- 50:12Speaker 4: I mean, if he do that Indiana, Nebraska has so
- 50:16Speaker 4: much more resources than Indiana has for getting transfer portals,
- 50:20Speaker 4: recruits and all that.
- 50:21Speaker 3: It's like.
- 50:23Speaker 4: It's got to weary you a little bit how he
- 50:25Speaker 4: can do that so quick. And it's probably he might
- 50:27Speaker 4: just be that good of a coach who knows I
- 50:30Speaker 4: got I'm super impresso what he's doing there.
- 50:34Speaker 1: I mean, their schedule is a lot tougher this year too,
- 50:36Speaker 1: so like keep that in mind, and they go to
- 50:38Speaker 1: Iowa this week, I think that'll be kind of telling.
- 50:42Speaker 1: I mean, if they if Indiana can blow Iowa out
- 50:44Speaker 1: like they did to Illinois, but then they also played
- 50:47Speaker 1: Oregon and they also played Penn State, both on the
- 50:50Speaker 1: road this year. To keep that in mind.
- 50:52Speaker 4: So I was saying last year they didn't play anybody,
- 50:54Speaker 4: but I think I think they're better than last year's
- 50:58Speaker 4: team could be. By Yeah, I don't. I don't know
- 51:05Speaker 4: how he's done it. Hats off to you, Signetti.
- 51:09Speaker 1: I mean, I do think the Austin scenario of going
- 51:12Speaker 1: seven and five or six and six, not saying we're
- 51:14Speaker 1: firing a rule, but that the conversation is only gonna
- 51:17Speaker 1: become more of a thing and you're gonna hear more
- 51:18Speaker 1: Signetti of why are we keeping somebody here and hoping
- 51:22Speaker 1: that it takes five, six, seven years to rebuild a
- 51:24Speaker 1: program and believe in somebody that it's possible, could be
- 51:30Speaker 1: possible that you go find a Signetti. I mean that
- 51:33Speaker 1: if that scenario happens, that conversation will could become more
- 51:36Speaker 1: and more. I'm at the forefront.
- 51:39Speaker 4: Like I said that the grass isn't always greener like
- 51:42Speaker 4: a fickle.
- 51:44Speaker 2: That's true.
- 51:46Speaker 1: And yeah, it's obviously it's obviously comes down to hiring
- 51:50Speaker 1: the right guy too. Write When you do that yeah,
- 51:53Speaker 1: I mean I think Wisconsin, I mean we wasn't. Wasn't
- 51:58Speaker 1: we jokingly saw that?
- 52:00Speaker 3: I mean too, but.
- 52:01Speaker 4: Wasn't facal and rule like the top two choices at
- 52:04Speaker 4: the time. Yeah, yeah, I would say Nebraska picked the
- 52:08Speaker 4: right one and all that, But I yeah, I don't.
- 52:16Speaker 3: I guess as long as you can fire rule.
- 52:19Speaker 4: But well, like I've asked you before, what other coaches
- 52:23Speaker 4: are out there? Well, I guess that's proven it. There's
- 52:25Speaker 4: other coaches out there that can do it.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, will we back Monday after a great week
- 52:39Speaker 1: of football and Ryder Cup?
- 52:41Speaker 3: Who do we got?
- 52:41Speaker 1: Team USA? Team Europe?
- 52:44Speaker 2: What was t your team? ERAC will win? But team
- 52:48Speaker 2: USA for life?
- 52:49Speaker 3: You know who cares Team USA?
- 52:53Speaker 2: Uhh, there you go.
- 52:58Speaker 1: I think Europe's gonna win.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Thinks so too.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I hate to say it. They're also the underdogs, but
- 53:04Speaker 1: I think it is. It's on the road, but there
- 53:07Speaker 1: they gotta come on the road. USA has got the
- 53:10Speaker 1: home home, home course advantage.
- 53:13Speaker 2: I love.
- 53:14Speaker 1: The Ryder Cup is great. It's great. It's the one
- 53:16Speaker 1: time people can be not at it, have a little
- 53:19Speaker 1: adequate in golf.
- 53:21Speaker 2: It's great.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Okay, back Monday, go Brad.
- 53:26Speaker 3: If you are go Big Red,
