Transcript
- 0:19Speaker 1: Okay, everybody, Emily about it. Here. You're listening to five
- 0:23Speaker 1: Minute Friday from Hurdle. Whether you've been here for a
- 0:27Speaker 1: long time or you're new to Hurdle. I am so
- 0:31Speaker 1: happy you're here, and thank you for being here. Thank
- 0:34Speaker 1: you for giving me your time for five minute Friday.
- 0:37Speaker 1: A little reminder of how it goes down Here, I
- 0:40Speaker 1: share a story from my week, something that happened, to
- 0:43Speaker 1: take away that I had from that thing, and then
- 0:48Speaker 1: I answer a listener question. Of course, I would love
- 0:51Speaker 1: to answer your listener question, so if you have one,
- 0:54Speaker 1: please submit it in these show notes. There's a link
- 0:58Speaker 1: that says, ask me a voice message. I would love
- 1:01Speaker 1: to answer it on an upcoming episode this week. The
- 1:05Speaker 1: story I want to tell you is about a busy morning.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I believe it was on Monday. I was dressed and
- 1:14Speaker 1: getting my act together before running out the door, and
- 1:17Speaker 1: I went into my bathroom to do one more look,
- 1:20Speaker 1: see at what I looked like, and grab some perfume.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I spritched myself, I looked in the mirror, I put
- 1:28Speaker 1: the bottle back on the shelf. I turned around and
- 1:31Speaker 1: I went to walk out, and upon getting over the
- 1:36Speaker 1: small divider, there's definitely a technical term for this, but
- 1:39Speaker 1: I don't have it on the top of my head.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Into my living room, I heard a crash and I
- 1:45Speaker 1: turned around and the entire perfume bottle was broken and
- 1:50Speaker 1: perfume was all over my bathroom tile. So I went
- 1:56Speaker 1: and got the dust pan and cleaned it up and
- 2:00Speaker 1: thought to myself, Oh, this sucks. And then I had
- 2:03Speaker 1: a moment where I giggled thinking about the alternative perspectives, right, like, yes,
- 2:10Speaker 1: this sucks, but my bathroom is now going to smell
- 2:14Speaker 1: like Chanelle Gabrielle. Wow. No rhyming intended there for a minute,
- 2:21Speaker 1: and then I also thought, this is your opportunity to
- 2:24Speaker 1: try something new, to get a new scent, and that's
- 2:26Speaker 1: kind of fun. Haven't done that? In a minute? I digress.
- 2:31Speaker 1: It's not always easy to shift your perspective like that,
- 2:35Speaker 1: And I know that example kind of sounds a little
- 2:38Speaker 1: silly in nature, but it's applicable right everything that happens
- 2:43Speaker 1: for us on a day to day basis. It can
- 2:46Speaker 1: be hard, it can be challenging, we can do it anyway,
- 2:50Speaker 1: and it is happening for us. I truly believe that,
- 2:54Speaker 1: even in dark moments years down the line. When I
- 2:58Speaker 1: sit down and reflect now, I think about how thankful
- 3:03Speaker 1: I am that they have brought me to where I am.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Even again, if going through them felt like you were
- 3:09Speaker 1: crawling and clawing out of the mud, I get it.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I've been there. But these things they happen for us.
- 3:17Speaker 1: And I'll tell you that later that day, I walked
- 3:20Speaker 1: myself into Sephora, I tried a dozen different sents and
- 3:24Speaker 1: walked out with a different bottle of Chanel. So my
- 3:28Speaker 1: question for you, what is one thing that happened recently
- 3:33Speaker 1: that made you feel some kind of way but you
- 3:36Speaker 1: could flip your perspective and think about the good, think
- 3:41Speaker 1: about how this challenge may have happened for you. Again,
- 3:46Speaker 1: what is one challenge that you can think about that
- 3:49Speaker 1: you hurdled recently that you can say with confidence happened
- 3:56Speaker 1: for you? And now a listener question. Hi, Emily, this
- 4:02Speaker 1: is Claire from Brooklyn. Hope you're doing well. I just
- 4:05Speaker 1: wanted to know if there are any online fitness classes
- 4:09Speaker 1: that you're loving right now and why? Thank you so
- 4:12Speaker 1: much and hope you have a great day online fitness classes. Now,
- 4:17Speaker 1: I will admit that, as of late, the only digital
- 4:22Speaker 1: fitness classes I've been taking are Peloton, so I'm still
- 4:27Speaker 1: most often, more often than not, writing with my guy
- 4:30Speaker 1: Alex Dusson. But when I'm not doing that, I am
- 4:35Speaker 1: all about using the Future app. Now, if you've been
- 4:37Speaker 1: listening regularly, then you know that Future is one of
- 4:41Speaker 1: Hurdle's sponsors. But essentially you can think of it as
- 4:44Speaker 1: on demand personal training. You're working with a real coach
- 4:48Speaker 1: who's providing you with customized programming. I've been working with
- 4:53Speaker 1: my guy Brandon for gosh a few months now, and
- 4:58Speaker 1: I look forward to walking into the gym knowing exactly
- 5:02Speaker 1: what I'm gonna do, and that he's got my back,
- 5:05Speaker 1: knowing what I have available to me, and he's also
- 5:07Speaker 1: able to modify and shift as maybe I need to
- 5:11Speaker 1: shift to. Anyway, this is not meant to be an
- 5:15Speaker 1: ad read here, but I will say that if you
- 5:17Speaker 1: want to try Future, head on over to try Future
- 5:20Speaker 1: dot com slash Hurdle, and right now you can actually
- 5:23Speaker 1: get a free month a free month by heading on
- 5:26Speaker 1: over to try Future dot com slash Hurdle. In terms
- 5:30Speaker 1: of other on demand workouts, one other thing I will
- 5:32Speaker 1: say I do love jumping around and getting out a
- 5:36Speaker 1: lot of energy and moving it with the help of
- 5:39Speaker 1: the class from Tarin Doomy. I have had the good
- 5:42Speaker 1: fortune of doing it actually in person recently, and I'm
- 5:46Speaker 1: reminded just how much let's say, like just therapeutic vibes
- 5:51Speaker 1: that it gave me over the pandemic when I was
- 5:53Speaker 1: doing these classes in my apartment. It's a mix of
- 5:57Speaker 1: cardio and plates with a hint of you ooga. Trust me,
- 6:01Speaker 1: if you're looking for a way to let the day go,
- 6:03Speaker 1: it is one hundred percent a go to. That's it
- 6:07Speaker 1: for this week. Thanks so much as always for listening,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and don't forget to follow us Obra on social It's
