- 0:01Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Welcome, welcome, welcome, Whether.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Or notwithstanding we do have our car Talk program today.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Brad Duness is in studio and Brad, you brought friends.
- 0:12Speaker 2: I did.
- 0:13Speaker 3: I've got Debbie happen here from the Homestone Cancer Support.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Center sale again, Debbie will again. Ah, I'm so glad
- 0:20Speaker 2: you're here.
- 0:21Speaker 3: And you know, despite the crazy weather this morning, hopefully everybody's.
- 0:26Speaker 2: All right and didn't ever get down on the ground.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I don't. It didn't seem like it probably did if
- 0:32Speaker 2: there was a spin up there.
- 0:33Speaker 1: No, we had a lot of straight line winds, uh huh.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And got the dealership.
- 0:37Speaker 3: It was pouring and straight line winds, and it was
- 0:42Speaker 3: we were a little taken by surprise.
- 0:43Speaker 2: We didn't get to do, as Tom calls.
- 0:45Speaker 3: It, our hail dance where we move everything into the
- 0:48Speaker 3: building and and such.
- 0:50Speaker 2: But it's not the usual beautiful day a morning out there.
- 0:54Speaker 3: But maybe this afternoon the sun will be shining off
- 0:56Speaker 3: the cars and and.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Her typical third as we call it yesterday.
- 1:02Speaker 3: But Debbie's here because you know, I don't people that
- 1:07Speaker 3: listened to.
- 1:07Speaker 2: The show know this already.
- 1:09Speaker 3: But if you know, December was our anniversary month, now
- 1:13Speaker 3: that we've we've.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Switched completely to Toyota.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Used to we used to do this in April because
- 1:18Speaker 3: it was the Ford anniversary, but the last couple of
- 1:22Speaker 3: years we've shifted it to December because in December nineteen
- 1:26Speaker 3: sixty eight, my grandfather got the Toyota dealership in Bartlesville,
- 1:30Speaker 3: and we're now the oldest Toyota dealer in the state
- 1:33Speaker 3: of Oklahoma and really proud of that.
- 1:37Speaker 2: But we to celebrate our anniversary every year.
- 1:40Speaker 3: We and we we encourage our vehicle purchasers to select
- 1:44Speaker 3: a nonprofit in the community to support, and we'll make
- 1:47Speaker 3: a donation in their name and for of fifty dollars
- 1:51Speaker 3: to any nonprofit and then the one that gets selected
- 1:55Speaker 3: the most gets a minimum of twenty five hundred dollars
- 2:00Speaker 3: and we'll get that matched by Toyota. So from until
- 2:05Speaker 3: five thousand dollars in this year we had I believe
- 2:10Speaker 3: it was thirteen of our vehicle purchasers selected Hopestone Cancer
- 2:15Speaker 3: Support Center, and so we've got a check for debby
- 2:19Speaker 3: here this morning, you watching on YouTube for twenty five dollars, okay,
- 2:25Speaker 3: and we will get that matched by Toyota.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Awesome, that's wonderful. Thank you so much. I appreciate that
- 2:32Speaker 4: very much. That'll be very helpful.
- 2:34Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:34Speaker 3: And this is of course those who listen to the show.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Now we have Debbi on all the time. We love Hopstone.
- 2:41Speaker 3: It's such a great organization and you know, one of
- 2:44Speaker 3: the reasons why you guys have actually been selected three
- 2:49Speaker 3: times now in this process as our top nonprofit in
- 2:54Speaker 3: the anniversary program.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's a secret to that.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Mark Servini, who's one of our he is our most experienced,
- 3:05Speaker 3: have been there long at salesperson, but he had he
- 3:10Speaker 3: had cancer in his family and they accessed Hopestone, and
- 3:14Speaker 3: so he takes it really personally and encourages all the
- 3:18Speaker 3: people to buy a car from him during December to
- 3:22Speaker 3: select Hopstone. And I think he was a person not
- 3:25Speaker 3: quite it was thirteen, he's till fifteen.
- 3:28Speaker 4: So okay, so.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Very high percentage of his folks selected Hopestone.
- 3:35Speaker 5: It's a great program and we really really appreciate it, obviously,
- 3:39Speaker 5: you guys, we appreciate you so much. On Mark and
- 3:43Speaker 5: all the salesmen. I'm very thankful that people are shopping
- 3:49Speaker 5: local and buying our cars locally.
- 3:52Speaker 4: I think that.
- 3:52Speaker 5: That's really important to support our businesses.
- 3:56Speaker 2: And well that's one of the strengths of Bartlesville.
- 4:00Speaker 3: In always the nonprofit world is the same thing, right,
- 4:04Speaker 3: I mean, I know there's this rich network of nonprofits
- 4:08Speaker 3: in our community that that really take care of everybody's needs,
- 4:12Speaker 3: you know, whether it's you know, youth and education and
- 4:17Speaker 3: activities and and getting that spark as we call it,
- 4:21Speaker 3: of interest in something, and or or it's you know,
- 4:25Speaker 3: problems like like having cancer, or there's just but there's
- 4:31Speaker 3: a there's obviously too many to mention, and we were
- 4:35Speaker 3: really proud to support many of them throughout the year,
- 4:39Speaker 3: and and it just I know, it makes a huge
- 4:43Speaker 3: difference in our community in Bartlesville for being such a
- 4:47Speaker 3: small city. I'll give it the city the capital ces
- 4:51Speaker 3: even though we were small.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Uh.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Part of that reason for that is our rich community.
- 5:00Speaker 3: You're at support or Phillip sixty six Phillips historically and
- 5:06Speaker 3: all the banks and other people, I know, they all
- 5:09Speaker 3: pretty much all of them support you guys.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Yes, we're very very blessed. For sure. This is a
- 5:14Speaker 4: very kind and caring community.
- 5:16Speaker 5: And we appreciate all those block cars, you know, whether
- 5:21Speaker 5: they chose us or not, you know, because you're a
- 5:26Speaker 5: very big supporter in many ways, So we appreciate.
- 5:30Speaker 3: That we can't do it without the community and our
- 5:32Speaker 3: customers and our people there at the dealership. It's you
- 5:37Speaker 3: know now for a long time, been doing it since
- 5:40Speaker 3: nineteen forty one and total in Bartlesville, and really proud
- 5:44Speaker 3: of that legacy, and I'm glad that you guys are
- 5:47Speaker 3: a part of it. Let's talk a bit about Hopstone
- 5:51Speaker 3: and what's okay what you guys do. I think that's
- 5:55Speaker 3: always a good place to start, is the resource you
- 5:58Speaker 3: provide for people and families, extended families of people with cancer.
- 6:06Speaker 3: And I know it's.
- 6:08Speaker 4: A there is a lot to that. There is definitely
- 6:12Speaker 4: a lot to that.
- 6:13Speaker 5: So we are obviously a nonprofit and we provide free
- 6:18Speaker 5: service to cancer patients and their families, both while they're
- 6:23Speaker 5: dealing with cancer and beyond. So we have all kinds
- 6:26Speaker 5: of exercise programs, we have supplies, you know, wigs, hat scarves,
- 6:31Speaker 5: those kinds of things, nutritional supplies you know, pdli things
- 6:37Speaker 5: to keep them hydrated, feeding tube supplies. We have a
- 6:42Speaker 5: meal program. Every week we make meals for different meals
- 6:46Speaker 5: for those in treatment and those are packaged and delivered to.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Their homes or they can pick them up at the center.
- 6:55Speaker 5: We have a PEO group poa w here in town
- 7:01Speaker 5: that gets together once a month and makes freezer meals,
- 7:05Speaker 5: so crock Pot Meals meals that our clients can shop
- 7:09Speaker 5: out of our freezer if they decide not to participate
- 7:14Speaker 5: in the meal program. Because nutrition is really important. We
- 7:18Speaker 5: partner with Ascension Jane Phillips the medcare pharmacy here. The
- 7:25Speaker 5: doctor can call prescriptions in and to the pharmacy and
- 7:29Speaker 5: the patients go pick them up. The pharmacy will build
- 7:32Speaker 5: hopestone directly for those So that's a huge That barrier
- 7:37Speaker 5: has been removed, and that's what it's about, removing those barriers.
- 7:41Speaker 5: So we have gas cards. We can provide gas cards,
- 7:45Speaker 5: Loves gas cards.
- 7:47Speaker 4: If people are going to Houston or Oklahoma.
- 7:51Speaker 5: City quick trip we buy quick trip cards if they
- 7:55Speaker 5: choose to drive to treatments that are farther away, or
- 8:00Speaker 5: we can help them with airline tickets through Southwest Airlines,
- 8:05Speaker 5: and we can provide some support as far as reimbursement
- 8:12Speaker 5: for their stays.
- 8:15Speaker 4: In Houston or wherever they need to go.
- 8:19Speaker 5: You know.
- 8:20Speaker 4: So we have a lot of different.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I hear that whistle, yeah in the background. We're going
- 8:27Speaker 2: to have a little bit of a break here for
- 8:29Speaker 2: the morning and we're back with the Car Talk.
- 8:34Speaker 1: We have Brad Dungeons and our friends here from Hopestone
- 8:38Speaker 1: and we are resuming our Car Talk program once again.
- 8:41Speaker 1: The severe weather to our north into Kansas at this
- 8:44Speaker 1: point out.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Hopefully everybody up there.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Is staying safe safe definitely, that's kind of in the
- 8:51Speaker 3: in the area where you guys did.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Something last fall.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Yeah, our dads a little bit of party.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Dad's Buck is in October every year and that's a
- 9:02Speaker 5: walk from Claremore to Copine. It takes place over three days.
- 9:08Speaker 5: You know, we have a huge party in Copane. We
- 9:11Speaker 5: have a wonderful auction event that takes place out at
- 9:15Speaker 5: the Osage Casino.
- 9:17Speaker 4: We get sponsors. It's just a huge event.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Raises a lot of money for us, so enables us
- 9:25Speaker 5: to do our programs, make sure that people can get
- 9:28Speaker 5: to where they need to be, that they have their medicine,
- 9:31Speaker 5: that they can go to counseling, that they you know,
- 9:34Speaker 5: all of those be fed, all of those programs. It
- 9:38Speaker 5: helps to support all of those programs. I will say,
- 9:41Speaker 5: it's a huge event. There's there's people there, Yeah, and.
- 9:48Speaker 2: You know, there's a lot of music acts.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Tons of music.
- 9:51Speaker 5: We got a lot of music, yeah, a lot of
- 9:55Speaker 5: up and comers, you know, as well as established artists.
- 10:00Speaker 5: So we're very thankful for that. You know, you never
- 10:02Speaker 5: know who's going to show up, so it's kind of cool.
- 10:06Speaker 5: But yeah, raises a lot of money for Hopestone. This year,
- 10:09Speaker 5: we did something a little different. We used all local
- 10:13Speaker 5: businesses to go to for sponsorships to and so thank
- 10:19Speaker 5: you to go to for you know, all the food
- 10:24Speaker 5: as well as some of the auction items.
- 10:27Speaker 4: So that was wonderful.
- 10:28Speaker 5: We got some of our businesses, our restaurants and things
- 10:30Speaker 5: like that involved as well.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Yes, so, and it was just a great event.
- 10:36Speaker 5: And then we had our Survivor Dinner, which is our
- 10:39Speaker 5: meal for our cancer patients and their families. We had
- 10:42Speaker 5: over thirty nine survivors and their families join us this year,
- 10:45Speaker 5: so there were over one hundred people. And that's the
- 10:48Speaker 5: day of the Christmas Free to have a nice sit
- 10:50Speaker 5: down dinner, get presents and watch the Christmas Free.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Oh you guys have a great location for that. Yes,
- 10:56Speaker 3: people don't know where you are.
- 10:57Speaker 4: That's so yeah. Right on.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Frank Phillips Cress Pharmacy yes, downtown bartles Rule really really
- 11:04Speaker 3: old timers.
- 11:05Speaker 5: Yeah, and we survived the storm this morning. The board
- 11:08Speaker 5: was a little concerned, but we made it.
- 11:11Speaker 4: It was all good. So yeah, right on, Frank Phillips.
- 11:14Speaker 4: You can't miss it.
- 11:15Speaker 5: So it's a big, you know, two story brown, brown
- 11:18Speaker 5: building like Bill Crest Building.
- 11:22Speaker 4: So we got lots of space.
- 11:25Speaker 5: But yeah, it's just it's really amazing we had we
- 11:28Speaker 5: were able to hold a lot of events in that
- 11:30Speaker 5: upstairs space. And so through our partnership with Samaritan Counseling,
- 11:36Speaker 5: on January twenty fourth, from nine thirty to twelve thirty,
- 11:41Speaker 5: we're doing what's called the Heart of Healing. Okay, excuse me,
- 11:45Speaker 5: So that is an event.
- 11:47Speaker 4: It's a free event. People.
- 11:48Speaker 5: We asked that they just call either us or Samartan
- 11:51Speaker 5: Counseling to register, so we know about how many people.
- 11:55Speaker 4: But it's a free event. The community is welcome to
- 11:58Speaker 4: come and include.
- 12:00Speaker 5: It's a tai chi demonstration, bar demonstration, yoga, mindful movement, soundbath, meditation.
- 12:11Speaker 5: It's just really a time for people to just chill
- 12:14Speaker 5: out and reconnect, yes, you know, reconnect with themselves and start.
- 12:21Speaker 4: The new year in a good place, you know, what's
- 12:25Speaker 4: fastest past.
- 12:26Speaker 5: We need to let that go and move forward in
- 12:29Speaker 5: a good headspace, and that's what that event is all about.
- 12:32Speaker 4: And it is a wonderful event. We had about fifty
- 12:36Speaker 4: people last year. Fifty or sixty people last year. It's
- 12:39Speaker 4: not just for cancer pations. It's for everyone who just.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Wants some time to themselves and to refocus.
- 12:51Speaker 4: So that's a wonderful program.
- 12:52Speaker 5: We have coming up January twenty fourth, from nine thirty
- 12:57Speaker 5: to twelve thirty. It's at Homestone in the second floor space,
- 13:01Speaker 5: which is just the wide open space upstairs.
- 13:04Speaker 4: And then again we'll have our.
- 13:08Speaker 5: Arts of Hopestone, which will be May third, from four
- 13:12Speaker 5: to six. We're gonna do our Sinco de Mayo theme again.
- 13:16Speaker 5: That was a lot of fun. We'll have some great gift,
- 13:21Speaker 5: great items this year.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Locally produced art.
- 13:24Speaker 5: Yes, a lot of local artists, yeah, which is fantastic.
- 13:30Speaker 5: And you know, yes, lots of good food. The Eatery
- 13:36Speaker 5: did a wonderful job with our food last year and
- 13:41Speaker 5: Melody made us our.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Cookies, so that was kind of cool. Those are really good.
- 13:48Speaker 4: But yeah, this year.
- 13:49Speaker 5: You know, we have some really good We're hoping to
- 13:51Speaker 5: do a live auction. We've Uh, the chef at Tri
- 13:55Speaker 5: County Tech is going to donate a make your make
- 13:59Speaker 5: your meal party, so that'll be good. We're hoping to
- 14:03Speaker 5: get a live artist painting again this year, and then
- 14:09Speaker 5: some sports team tickets and packages. Okay, so yeah, and
- 14:15Speaker 5: then obviously the local art you know, and we have
- 14:18Speaker 5: we have a big Native community here too, so we're
- 14:21Speaker 5: going to try and pull them in Teton Traders and
- 14:26Speaker 5: you know, some Cherokee art and stuff.
- 14:28Speaker 4: So cool. We'll see. It's I'm looking forward to it.
- 14:31Speaker 4: I think it's going to be fun.
- 14:33Speaker 3: These are great events, and as you mentioned, there's stuff
- 14:35Speaker 3: going on and host.
- 14:36Speaker 2: On all every day, all day.
- 14:39Speaker 5: Pretty much every day is a new adventure that resource focus.
- 14:43Speaker 3: You have to provide things for people that need help
- 14:46Speaker 3: with cancer one way or another.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Yeah, So it.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Growing, it's growing more and more need, Yeah, more and
- 14:56Speaker 5: more need.
- 14:57Speaker 4: And I think that's just you know, the things are trending.
- 15:01Speaker 5: There's there's a much greater need more diagnosises, a lot
- 15:05Speaker 5: of young people. Unfortunately, our young young people population has
- 15:11Speaker 5: grown tremendously and so very concerning young moms, a lot
- 15:18Speaker 5: of young moms.
- 15:20Speaker 4: And so that's very concerning. But we'll see we'll see
- 15:24Speaker 4: what comes.
- 15:25Speaker 3: About well, and those people who want to help with that. Obviously,
- 15:30Speaker 3: you take donations, people can volunteer. It takes a lot
- 15:33Speaker 3: of people to put those meals together and deliver them
- 15:36Speaker 3: and do all that. So there's talk about opportunities for
- 15:40Speaker 3: volunteering and other and how to get access to that
- 15:44Speaker 3: want to help.
- 15:46Speaker 5: So there's a lot of different things that people can
- 15:48Speaker 5: do to help. Obviously, donating, they can go on to
- 15:52Speaker 5: the website www dot Hopstone cancer dot org and just
- 15:58Speaker 5: click the donate and make a donation.
- 16:00Speaker 4: That way, they can do it in honor or memory
- 16:02Speaker 4: of someone if they so choose.
- 16:05Speaker 5: They can do it for an event, so they can
- 16:10Speaker 5: make a donation for the Heart of Healing. All of
- 16:12Speaker 5: that funding that we get from that all goes to
- 16:17Speaker 5: our counseling, our partnership with SamArt and Counseling to offer
- 16:22Speaker 5: free counseling services to our cancer patients and their families.
- 16:27Speaker 5: So any donations that are made for the Heart of
- 16:30Speaker 5: Healing that will all go to that program.
- 16:33Speaker 4: It's restricted to that program. So that's a really good
- 16:36Speaker 4: way people can help.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Referrals are great, so if you know someone who's been
- 16:43Speaker 5: affected or just being diagnosed or whatever, send them our way.
- 16:48Speaker 4: We have a lot of information to share.
- 16:50Speaker 5: And yes, the process, yes, I'm sure overwhelming.
- 16:55Speaker 3: It's overwhelming, and there's so much to put together if
- 16:59Speaker 3: you're going to go in and treatment, and if there's
- 17:01Speaker 3: your families affected by that, your extended family in the community,
- 17:06Speaker 3: and you know, you guys provide that awesome resource to
- 17:10Speaker 3: help people through that, give them a little guidance.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Been through it before, Yeah, it probably is.
- 17:18Speaker 5: You know, really it's very helpful, very helpful, you know,
- 17:21Speaker 5: and we have partners like Truity and P sixty six,
- 17:26Speaker 5: you know, the P sixty six Women's Network. They make
- 17:30Speaker 5: up all of our cancer bags, which have you know,
- 17:34Speaker 5: journals and adult coloring books and lip bomb and hand
- 17:40Speaker 5: sanitizer and you know, all those little things that you
- 17:42Speaker 5: don't really think about.
- 17:44Speaker 4: So they help us with that.
- 17:46Speaker 5: You know. Truity is a is a huge support system.
- 17:49Speaker 5: But you know, volunteering time and things like that, volunteering on.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Our board of directors.
- 17:56Speaker 5: If you are a cancer survivor, you know, uh, we
- 18:01Speaker 5: need survivors or those in treatment that are able to
- 18:05Speaker 5: come and sit at our greeter desk. That's the one
- 18:09Speaker 5: requirement for that because particular volunteer. You have to have
- 18:14Speaker 5: experienced cancer yourself so that you know what that person
- 18:18Speaker 5: feels like when they're walking through the door.
- 18:22Speaker 4: But we have obviously the.
- 18:23Speaker 5: Meal program delivery, you know, we deliver all over the place,
- 18:31Speaker 5: preparing the meals, cleaning, organizing, painting, all different kinds of
- 18:37Speaker 5: things people can help with.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Be a mentor if you've if you've.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Done caregiving, you know, and would like to partner with
- 18:45Speaker 5: another caregiver maybe and have a conversation with them how
- 18:49Speaker 5: to best serve and how to take care of you.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Know that we have all different kinds of opportunities.
- 18:55Speaker 2: It's great. And you know, now how many how long has.
- 18:59Speaker 5: It been going on and this is it was twenty
- 19:02Speaker 5: thirteen when Jennifer formed Hopestone, so we are moving into
- 19:07Speaker 5: year thirteen.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Congratulations, Thank you for your continued leadership, for your.
- 19:16Speaker 5: Giving all the glory right work alone and it's.
- 19:18Speaker 2: All thank you you.
- 19:20Speaker 3: It's just you know, but it is so important to
- 19:24Speaker 3: have have leadership in our for the for this and
- 19:29Speaker 3: I know you do, yeah, really hard on it, on
- 19:32Speaker 3: it and it's not it's not alone, No, it's not.
- 19:35Speaker 2: You can't do it alone.
- 19:37Speaker 3: We're really village, really proud to support you you at
- 19:42Speaker 3: Homestone and have you now been the winner three times?
- 19:46Speaker 4: I know that's awesome gift and.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Make that donation. Really proud of that. And you know,
- 19:54Speaker 3: those of you who want to want to help support
- 19:58Speaker 3: organizations like Hopstone. You you know, we're still selling cars.
- 20:02Speaker 3: We didn't stop in December, and we'll be out there
- 20:05Speaker 3: again this afternoon.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I see I can sort of.
- 20:07Speaker 3: See it's clearing and clearing on the western horizon, so
- 20:11Speaker 3: we will get sunshine again this afternoon and cooler weather
- 20:16Speaker 3: around this weekend, and then back to our bal meet
- 20:19Speaker 3: January next week.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Welcome to Oklahoma.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Give it a couple of minutes.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Back from the holidays, and yeah, we had a really
- 20:29Speaker 3: outstanding December at the dealership and we're often running into
- 20:34Speaker 3: twenty twenty six. That's hard to believe. We've got a
- 20:37Speaker 3: brand new RAB four that'll be arriving soon. We'll get
- 20:40Speaker 3: our first allocation of that in the next couple of allocations.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I'm not sure if it'll be the second one in
- 20:45Speaker 3: January or maybe the first one in February.
- 20:49Speaker 2: We've got the all new BZ on the ground. We've
- 20:52Speaker 2: got a great selection of vehicles coming.
- 20:56Speaker 3: We've got. I think we've got allocation for fifteen tacomas.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I mean just a selection of tacoma's are coming and
- 21:07Speaker 3: there's a few still on the ground. We had we
- 21:09Speaker 3: sold a lot of tacomas in twenty twenty five and
- 21:14Speaker 3: in January I mean December particularly. That's how you earn toyotas,
- 21:18Speaker 3: and so we keep trying to sell out every month,
- 21:22Speaker 3: so that's sometimes it gets a little scarce there, but
- 21:25Speaker 3: that's our plan is to keep growing and serving our
- 21:30Speaker 3: community and our customers with our great noncommissioned sales team.
- 21:34Speaker 2: And you know, come check us out at DUNGEUS. If
- 21:38Speaker 2: you have any.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Automotive needs, very good and if you have you need
- 21:42Speaker 3: cancer support, go to Homestone and see Debbie and her team.
- 21:46Speaker 2: They will take care of you.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Thank you very much for being a part of our
- 21:49Speaker 1: Car Talk program. Rad Debbie. Once again another big one.
