- 7:06Speaker 2: after getting rained out last night again. The Mountaineers are
- 7:10Speaker 2: playing tonight at six thirty at the Ballpark Recreation Field
- 7:15Speaker 2: in Montpellier thunder Road tomorrow night. There's a lot of
- 7:18Speaker 2: stuff going on. This guy sitting next to me has
- 7:22Speaker 2: one of the best looking beards I've seen in a
- 7:26Speaker 2: very very long time. Loud and welcome to aired out.
- 7:30Speaker 2: It is a pleasure to have you with me, and
- 7:33Speaker 2: thank you so much for being here with sweethearts and heroes.
- 7:38Speaker 2: This is a number two for you, right, I think.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I think in my third time on
- 7:44Speaker 4: number two being a normal I guess I came with
- 7:46Speaker 4: Tom one time with Tom. Yes, yes, but thank you
- 7:49Speaker 4: very much for having it down.
- 7:50Speaker 2: It's not always easy getting word in edgewise when Tom's here.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Now, dude, he's very passionate about this work, for sure,
- 7:59Speaker 4: as we all are. You know so, and he's the
- 8:01Speaker 4: science guy. He knows all the stuff about the you know,
- 8:04Speaker 4: he does the reading, does, knows all the studies and
- 8:06Speaker 4: stuff behind it. So I learned so much by just
- 8:09Speaker 4: listening to him honestly in terms of the work we
- 8:12Speaker 4: do and kind of the reasons why and what we're
- 8:14Speaker 4: actually seeing, because a lot of times we see the
- 8:16Speaker 4: patterns and like, I don't actually understand truly what's going
- 8:20Speaker 4: on under the hood until he kind of says, see
- 8:23Speaker 4: did you see that? You see that? And then once
- 8:24Speaker 4: you once you're kind of turned onto it, you kind
- 8:27Speaker 4: of see it everywhere, and then you can kind of
- 8:28Speaker 4: make predictions and stuff about and that helps me in
- 8:31Speaker 4: my role. Yeah, what Sweets and Heroes?
- 8:32Speaker 2: For sure, He's done that with me with me too.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's kind of it. It's just gonna
- 8:39Speaker 2: happen no matter what when you're when you're involved with Tom,
- 8:42Speaker 2: you're gonna you're gonna see the results of the impacts
- 8:45Speaker 2: that Sweethearts and Heroes is having. How long have you
- 8:48Speaker 2: been with Sweethearts and Heroes? Like, what, what's what's your story?
- 8:52Speaker 2: How did you get involved?
- 8:53Speaker 4: Yeah? Most definitely I've been. I've been involved for like
- 8:55Speaker 4: a few years now, maybe probably. I think I started
- 8:59Speaker 4: messing around in some smaller video projects with them for them,
- 9:05Speaker 4: more like kind of video assets. If you will not
- 9:08Speaker 4: necessarily boots on the ground stuff. Probably about four years ago,
- 9:12Speaker 4: I would say, But over the past two years, I
- 9:16Speaker 4: would say, I've been kind of much more in studio
- 9:18Speaker 4: working on courses and content, and then this past year
- 9:23Speaker 4: most of my time has been spent at schools and stuff,
- 9:25Speaker 4: kind of boots on the ground filming documenting and then
- 9:29Speaker 4: kind of coming back and cutting them up, putting it
- 9:31Speaker 4: to like different edits or mini documentaries and stuff.
- 9:35Speaker 1: How much? How much?
- 9:36Speaker 2: What's the relationship between how much time you're spending behind
- 9:41Speaker 2: the camera versus how much time you're spending with the
- 9:45Speaker 2: kids in these these schools that you've you've been to.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's got to do both.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that's such an interesting question because you know, like
- 9:53Speaker 4: I feel like I'm the only person on the team
- 9:57Speaker 4: who can kind of hide behind a cam as well.
- 10:00Speaker 4: And I don't mean hide as in like shy, I
- 10:03Speaker 4: don't want to talk to the kids, but I can
- 10:06Speaker 4: be a fly on the wall with my camera and
- 10:10Speaker 4: still catch some cool intimate things. And I can also
- 10:12Speaker 4: prompt them from behind the camera and interact with them
- 10:15Speaker 4: and kind of joke with them and jest with them
- 10:17Speaker 4: from behind the camera. So it's kind of like a
- 10:20Speaker 4: weird thing. I have a foot in each in each realm.
- 10:24Speaker 4: I'm never really in front of the students when we're
- 10:27Speaker 4: in schools, And what I mean by that is, I'm
- 10:29Speaker 4: not like leading a class yet or anything like that.
- 10:33Speaker 4: I'm usually involved with them in the rooms, documenting and
- 10:38Speaker 4: interacting with and interviewing. I interview a lot of students
- 10:41Speaker 4: as well. So it's just this kind of like interesting, uh,
- 10:45Speaker 4: you know, it's it almost feels like if you had
- 10:48Speaker 4: invisibility and you were kind of like in rooms and
- 10:50Speaker 4: stuff and moving around and they're cool with cameras being around.
- 10:53Speaker 4: You get the kids who look straight in the camera,
- 10:56Speaker 4: but then they snap out of it and they do
- 10:57Speaker 4: some other stuff. You know. It's more and you know
- 10:59Speaker 4: what's crazy is a lot of them always ask it's
- 11:03Speaker 4: clearly a video camera. It's a clear video camera, but
- 11:06Speaker 4: they say, take my picture, take my picture, take my picture.
- 11:09Speaker 4: It's just an interesting thing I've noticed.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Wow, you know, And.
- 11:15Speaker 2: These kids are they're just going about their lives and
- 11:21Speaker 2: just trying to be as normal and as natural as possible.
- 11:26Speaker 2: And if you are there with a camera, you've got
- 11:30Speaker 2: to be approachable, You've got to be friendly with them.
- 11:34Speaker 2: You've got to have some personality, some fun to bring
- 11:37Speaker 2: out what it is that they're doing or saying and
- 11:41Speaker 2: capturing that moment.
- 11:42Speaker 4: You know.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Tom said to me, it's we were talking about the
- 11:47Speaker 2: just the importance of you. It's one thing to go
- 11:50Speaker 2: into these schools and have these relationships and this connectivity
- 11:55Speaker 2: with kids and staff, but it's a whole nother thing
- 12:00Speaker 2: to be able to capture that well, capture it accurately,
- 12:05Speaker 2: and bring it to the eyes in the ears of
- 12:08Speaker 2: people that are outside of the school, to promote the
- 12:12Speaker 2: message of what Sweethearts and Heroes is doing.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Of course, there's so many layers to that that what
- 12:17Speaker 4: you've touched upon there, Like like when you started, you
- 12:20Speaker 4: were saying, you know, it's important to kind of have
- 12:21Speaker 4: like a kind of a personality, even as a cameraman. Yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 4: one hundred percent. A lot of these students when they
- 12:27Speaker 4: look at the camera, I think initially they're looking for
- 12:29Speaker 4: a reaction, So I play with them. I'll like make
- 12:33Speaker 4: like a crazy face back to them just to see
- 12:35Speaker 4: what they do. Yeah, and it's hilarious and a lot
- 12:38Speaker 4: of the time I've got the camera rolling in slow motion,
- 12:40Speaker 4: so like some of the smiles and laughter they get
- 12:43Speaker 4: from me being silly. It's kind of like the school
- 12:44Speaker 4: photographer with the clown knows kind of like you know
- 12:47Speaker 4: what I mean. It's there's a sense of personality. There's
- 12:49Speaker 4: a relationship that I think I'm building through not saying anything,
- 12:54Speaker 4: just facial expressions and kind of like they're looking at me.
- 12:57Speaker 4: I didn't instigate it. I'm just playing back with them
- 12:59Speaker 4: as interesting. But then as they get older, they're less
- 13:03Speaker 4: likely to look directly into the camera socially. And what
- 13:07Speaker 4: you're saying about documenting and capturing it, yeah, I think
- 13:10Speaker 4: it's important because one to get the message out there, right,
- 13:14Speaker 4: that's like the obvious thing for sweethearts and heroes, that's
- 13:17Speaker 4: we want to do. But also I think for these students,
- 13:20Speaker 4: the fact that they feel like they whatever they're saying
- 13:22Speaker 4: is like legit, and they have people who want to
- 13:25Speaker 4: hear it and who want to do it, and then
- 13:26Speaker 4: who want to go back and take that information, whether
- 13:30Speaker 4: it be their interview or something they've worked on, chop
- 13:33Speaker 4: it up, put it into an edit, and then we
- 13:35Speaker 4: put it on all our platforms YouTube, Facebook and stuff.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Being able to have their grandmother share it, have their
- 13:43Speaker 4: sister saying check out my little sister, she's doing some
- 13:46Speaker 4: good stuff. I think that's a whole other level that
- 13:49Speaker 4: it's not necessarily like a sweethearts and hero's goal. But
- 13:53Speaker 4: I think what it does to the child who's the
- 13:55Speaker 4: subject of this video or the student, is it like
- 13:58Speaker 4: makes it just reinform is like hard work and just
- 14:03Speaker 4: trying to be yourself and trying to like stand up
- 14:06Speaker 4: for something that you feel valuable. It's empowering, I think.
- 14:11Speaker 4: And uh, when they can be celebrated on their social
- 14:14Speaker 4: medias for that by family members and friends and people
- 14:17Speaker 4: of their town, like, we love it. We we have
- 14:20Speaker 4: just we watch certain towns really do the work for
- 14:25Speaker 4: us by supporting their own and they're proud. They're proud
- 14:28Speaker 4: of like what's going on with their schools and stuff.
- 14:30Speaker 4: So I don't know, I just think there's so much
- 14:32Speaker 4: too having it captured, not just for us, but also
- 14:35Speaker 4: for the student themselves.
- 14:36Speaker 2: If you you you must have had moments where you're
- 14:40Speaker 2: like and maybe serious moments where you're seeing some emotion
- 14:47Speaker 2: come out in some of these students where you must
- 14:50Speaker 2: be like, oh my god, I can't believe I'm I'm
- 14:54Speaker 2: getting this right now.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I was told capturing someone's honest reaction on camera,
- 15:00Speaker 4: something like when when they have an epiphany or have
- 15:04Speaker 4: a light bulb moment go off in your head and
- 15:06Speaker 4: there's that kind of moments of silence where they're like
- 15:09Speaker 4: connecting the dots in their head and they're kind of
- 15:11Speaker 4: rewinding their path and how they got there and stuff
- 15:14Speaker 4: like that's kind of priceless in my opinion, to catch
- 15:16Speaker 4: on camera because there's such a rare human experience. You know,
- 15:20Speaker 4: those things are what make up like our insight and
- 15:22Speaker 4: our different things. So when you can capture.
- 15:25Speaker 2: That, you know a lot of it's being in the
- 15:29Speaker 2: right place at the right time in frankly luck.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Oh yeah, most definitely, most definitely. And also I think
- 15:34Speaker 4: a lot of the questions that get asked in kind
- 15:36Speaker 4: of like getting people to At first when I started
- 15:40Speaker 4: doing interviews, I'm not a good interviewer. I'm not saying that,
- 15:43Speaker 4: but in the beginning I really wasn't. And I would
- 15:46Speaker 4: like ask them like questions that could be answered with
- 15:49Speaker 4: it yes or no, and it was and dude, it's
- 15:52Speaker 4: like okay, drop. And so there is kind of an
- 15:54Speaker 4: art to it. I mean, you know all about that,
- 15:56Speaker 4: you know what I mean? And just kind of getting
- 15:58Speaker 4: someone to open up and how question is are themed
- 16:00Speaker 4: and stuff. But uh, but yeah, no, there's a little
- 16:04Speaker 4: bit of luck. I mean you definitely an honest experience
- 16:08Speaker 4: of like some of these reactions and moments cannot be engineered.
- 16:12Speaker 4: You know, they can kind of be like the scene
- 16:15Speaker 4: can kind of be set and you can kind of
- 16:17Speaker 4: be prompted. But the horse is not going to drink
- 16:19Speaker 4: the water. You know what I'm saying. You have to
- 16:20Speaker 4: catch it.
- 16:23Speaker 2: So yeah, uh, you talk about catch you have to
- 16:27Speaker 2: catch it. A couple of weeks ago, I was on
- 16:31Speaker 2: the air making fun of myself. We had quite a
- 16:36Speaker 2: quite a laughing, uh moment about this massive fish that
- 16:44Speaker 2: I caught while I was out in my kayak and
- 16:47Speaker 2: it was I swear, I swear it was.
- 16:51Speaker 1: It was. It was huge.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I mean, geez, making fun of me saying that you
- 16:55Speaker 2: know that it was a whale and and all.
- 16:57Speaker 1: This, but it was. It was.
- 16:59Speaker 2: It was a mass of fish. It's like way too
- 17:02Speaker 2: big for the lake that I caught it in. And
- 17:07Speaker 2: I'm working it and working it so excited, so happy,
- 17:11Speaker 2: and I get right up to the kayak and snap
- 17:14Speaker 2: the line. Oh come on, have you had an experience
- 17:18Speaker 2: like that with a camera.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I mean there are some there are some things where
- 17:25Speaker 4: it's like I'm trying to think of something that might
- 17:28Speaker 4: be like.
- 17:30Speaker 1: You know, it depends with sweethearts are in the heroes
- 17:33Speaker 1: or not.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Well, well, I'm just thinking about this because, like you know,
- 17:37Speaker 4: from my position, you know, I'm capturing something. I'm trying
- 17:43Speaker 4: to build the story in my head. I'm thinking in
- 17:45Speaker 4: the future. I'm like, okay, perfect, this will be perfect.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Maybe they'll for example, let's just say something they're they're
- 17:51Speaker 4: doing an obstacle at a community to day. Okay, so
- 17:53Speaker 4: it's a racecourse. Let's say I'm following this kid through
- 17:56Speaker 4: and they're doing so good, and you know, here's their
- 18:00Speaker 4: big moment, and I'm like, yes, this is gonna be perfect.
- 18:02Speaker 4: They're gonna crush it. And then they fail. Right, So
- 18:05Speaker 4: like originally my original story it failed like they didn't
- 18:09Speaker 4: make it right. Well, that's life, though, So what I
- 18:12Speaker 4: did capture, like in your instance, the fish got away,
- 18:15Speaker 4: you don't have a fish, but I still got something.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I got the failure fish, which almost might be more
- 18:21Speaker 4: compelling than had they succeeded. So it's kind of humbling
- 18:25Speaker 4: as like I'm not a filmmaker necessarily, but I make videos. Okay.
- 18:28Speaker 4: You know, we all and this is probably for life too.
- 18:32Speaker 4: We all think we know how it's going to turn
- 18:34Speaker 4: out and how we want it to turn out. However,
- 18:36Speaker 4: it's not always that way. So there is an element
- 18:38Speaker 4: of surrender and kind of going with the flow and seeing, well,
- 18:42Speaker 4: you know, this is what I did capture. Sure, dude,
- 18:45Speaker 4: some of the This is another thing. When you go
- 18:47Speaker 4: and you're in the heat of the moment, right you're adjusting,
- 18:50Speaker 4: you're adjusting the exposure. If you're outdoors, you've got and
- 18:54Speaker 4: defilter on, which is just you know, just to kind
- 18:56Speaker 4: of darken the image without changing your shutters speed and
- 19:00Speaker 4: your aperture and your frame rate and all this stuff
- 19:03Speaker 4: that plays into it. Okay, and you have to manually
- 19:05Speaker 4: focus and you're worried about your focal length. There's so
- 19:08Speaker 4: much your ISO so it's not grainy footage. Okay, there's
- 19:11Speaker 4: a lot of numbers, a lot of science behind it.
- 19:14Speaker 4: You get a great moment, everything lines up, the stars aligned,
- 19:17Speaker 4: Boom boom, boom. I can't believe I captured that. You
- 19:20Speaker 4: go back in You're like, man, that was out of focus.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Probably unusable. I was focused on the trees instead of
- 19:28Speaker 4: the person's emotion their face. Ooh, that's a touch, Scott.
- 19:32Speaker 4: That's like my equivalent of the fish getting away. I think,
- 19:35Speaker 4: you know.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I almost had my GoPro mounted to my kayak that day,
- 19:40Speaker 2: which would.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Have I would have, you know. Yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 2: And I had a friend say to me, can you
- 19:45Speaker 2: imagine which I didn't. I didn't have the GoPro that day,
- 19:49Speaker 2: but I had a friend say, can you imagine if
- 19:51Speaker 2: the GoPro was on on the front of the kayak
- 19:55Speaker 2: shooting you or your face? Yeah, when this monster fish,
- 20:01Speaker 2: this whale was this blue whale snapped the line and
- 20:09Speaker 2: was gone. And I was like yeah. And then they
- 20:14Speaker 2: were like, do you remember what your what your reaction was,
- 20:18Speaker 2: And I was like, yes, I do. I mean there's
- 20:20Speaker 2: the there's the line just waving in the wind, the
- 20:24Speaker 2: broken fish line. And I was like, come on, stunned,
- 20:29Speaker 2: and I was like, yes, I wish I had that
- 20:31Speaker 2: on on on my gobro so I could show my
- 20:33Speaker 2: daughter that that sometimes in life, something's gonna happen that
- 20:38Speaker 2: you listen.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I had the damn fish.
- 20:42Speaker 4: You gotta bring a net. Next time.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I had the net.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I was fumbling with it with the net, but everything
- 20:48Speaker 2: was one hundred percent guarantee.
- 20:50Speaker 1: And then it was in a flash, in a half
- 20:53Speaker 1: a second, it was gone. It's not guarante, but I
- 20:55Speaker 1: would love to show my kid, you know.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Anyway, Yeah, you know, speaking of go pros, you you
- 21:03Speaker 2: got started like you were you were a young guy.
- 21:06Speaker 2: You were you were snapping on go pros. I'm guessing
- 21:09Speaker 2: when you were skiing and snowboarding and most of all
- 21:11Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Yeah, my grandma got me a go pro Hero. One
- 21:15Speaker 4: first go pro ever thing was a tank. Dude. Thing
- 21:19Speaker 4: was a tank. It came with like this uh this
- 21:22Speaker 4: plastic case that you could not hear a thing out of.
- 21:25Speaker 4: It looked like a mini submarine. Dude, it had screws
- 21:28Speaker 4: in it. It was like, you know it really.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It looked like I know what you're talking about. Yeah,
- 21:33Speaker 2: I've got the thirteen.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Yeah. It came a long way, oh yeah, yeah from
- 21:37Speaker 4: that first one. Yeah. So basically, yeah, I guess I
- 21:41Speaker 4: would mess around with those, and like Sony had this
- 21:43Speaker 4: little handicam thing just like a many little cam corder.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Was just around with that. And I think my parents
- 21:49Speaker 4: even before so I think filmmaking not fl I keep
- 21:52Speaker 4: saying filmmaking, you know, but you know.
- 21:54Speaker 1: What I'm making though, But you are, though, man, you're
- 21:57Speaker 1: you're a creator.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Uh.
- 22:02Speaker 4: My grandmother, my other grandmother, she used to always have
- 22:05Speaker 4: some kind of big rig on her shoulder that she
- 22:07Speaker 4: would film with. Apparently filmed a ton of home videos.
- 22:10Speaker 4: It's really interesting to see and she did quite well
- 22:13Speaker 4: with it. And I'm impressed with the technology of that
- 22:15Speaker 4: camera because it looked pretty good. I mean, it's an
- 22:18Speaker 4: old footage VHS footage, but it looked pretty good.
- 22:20Speaker 1: It was an old camcorder.
- 22:22Speaker 4: It was something massive. I don't know what it was.
- 22:24Speaker 4: It was huge. But if you buy it as Sears
- 22:28Speaker 4: probably actually they ordered it. I have no idea. But
- 22:31Speaker 4: we were watching home videos the other day and I
- 22:33Speaker 4: asked her, I said, what did you record us on?
- 22:35Speaker 4: And who trained you? Because you're actually doing quite well
- 22:38Speaker 4: with this. No, but I guess I think it's just
- 22:42Speaker 4: I mean, it's cool to check stuff out. And I
- 22:44Speaker 4: was into action stuff, you know, I was into skateboarding
- 22:47Speaker 4: and snowboarding and fun things. I mean, we're in Vermont,
- 22:49Speaker 4: we're driving up today. I'm looking at the mountains. I'm like,
- 22:53Speaker 4: this is such a chill place, like completely opposite of
- 22:56Speaker 4: the weather we're experiencing now. It's beautiful. It's got some
- 22:59Speaker 4: beautiful class out, some beautiful hills, very green, but you
- 23:02Speaker 4: know what it looks like in the winter. And we're
- 23:05Speaker 4: kind of blessed to have both worlds because I don't know,
- 23:09Speaker 4: for I feel like the youth, at least my case
- 23:11Speaker 4: in Vermont, like snowboarding skateboarding, not many people get to
- 23:15Speaker 4: do that. I'd say, yeah, have both, you know. Yeah,
- 23:21Speaker 4: So it's that plus little technology, just playing right and
- 23:24Speaker 4: reviewing and kind of making things with your friends or
- 23:27Speaker 4: didn't know how to do any graphics or anything, so
- 23:29Speaker 4: you'd like like write titles on cardboard and hold it
- 23:33Speaker 4: up and like film it sequence and it's just like
- 23:37Speaker 4: how I know what I kind of want it to
- 23:38Speaker 4: look like reverse engineering? How can I do that with
- 23:42Speaker 4: my knowledge? You know what I mean? I think there's
- 23:44Speaker 4: some kind of between that and the literal skateboarding and
- 23:46Speaker 4: snowboarding themselves. The resiliency of like falling down and getting
- 23:49Speaker 4: back up, yes, scraping your knee, Do I pack it
- 23:53Speaker 4: up for the day and go tend to my wound?
- 23:55Speaker 4: Or I try it again and try to conquer something
- 23:57Speaker 4: like there's these battles and then also to create tivity
- 24:00Speaker 4: element within those and then of of the actual recording itself,
- 24:05Speaker 4: like you know, and did you get my shot? You
- 24:08Speaker 4: just finally landed? Did you get it? You know? Trust no,
- 24:11Speaker 4: the lens cap was on. It's like, dude, what are
- 24:15Speaker 4: you doing? You know?
- 24:18Speaker 2: My little girl was was ripping around on her dirt
- 24:20Speaker 2: bike the other day and I ran in the house,
- 24:23Speaker 2: grabbed the uh the chest harnessed with the with the
- 24:25Speaker 2: GoPro and came out and put it. As soon as
- 24:27Speaker 2: I had that thing, you know, I'm bringing her in, Yeah,
- 24:30Speaker 2: going to neutral clip it on her. And as soon
- 24:33Speaker 2: as she knew that camera was on, she was.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Like, yeah, oh boy.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:39Speaker 2: She's like, Dad, what if I crash? And I'm like,
- 24:42Speaker 2: you got the camera on? That would be awesome. Yeah right, yeah,
- 24:47Speaker 2: that would be awesome.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Yes, that'd be a change of plans, but it would
- 24:50Speaker 4: be equally awesome.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Though.
- 24:52Speaker 2: So you you've you've you've got a double You went
- 24:56Speaker 2: to school, you got double major.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I didn't I know I was gonna do
- 25:00Speaker 4: anything that. I was undecided when I went to college.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I thought I wanted to do something with music because
- 25:05Speaker 4: I liked recording music. I was not a musician, stole
- 25:08Speaker 4: them not. I kind of taught myself to play guitar
- 25:11Speaker 4: and bass and like a little bit of like messing
- 25:13Speaker 4: around with like electronic drums, piano, just so I could
- 25:16Speaker 4: practice recording things. I thought it was music at first,
- 25:20Speaker 4: but but it was just recording things. Then I kind
- 25:23Speaker 4: of got into doing some sound design and kind of
- 25:27Speaker 4: putting sound to picture. That was my intro into a video,
- 25:31Speaker 4: as in my adulthood was. I took the sound avenue
- 25:34Speaker 4: towards it. So I would like record sound effects or
- 25:36Speaker 4: collect sound effects. Go in the field with some headphones
- 25:40Speaker 4: on some good microphones, go up to a stream, listen
- 25:43Speaker 4: to some water. Oh it's so sick, dude, like that.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I love stuff like I.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Love stuff like that. And then not only and then
- 25:51Speaker 4: to the next level. I would take like maybe one
- 25:54Speaker 4: stream I like the sound of like how the water
- 25:57Speaker 4: hits the rocks over here, but there's like some different
- 26:01Speaker 4: splashing over here. Yeah, And I'll take like these layers
- 26:04Speaker 4: and I'd put them together and i'd make one single
- 26:07Speaker 4: brook or stream that literally doesn't exist, and I'll kind
- 26:11Speaker 4: of compile things and then I'll filter out different frequencies
- 26:14Speaker 4: of like like you know, like some deeper end rumbles
- 26:17Speaker 4: and some stuff. It's just I really enjoyed doing that.
- 26:20Speaker 4: It was kind of like you have to be present,
- 26:22Speaker 4: you have to be creative a little bit. And there's
- 26:24Speaker 4: like it's kind of a little bit of foolery too,
- 26:26Speaker 4: because with sound design, so much of like so much
- 26:31Speaker 4: of your subconscience and how you perceive characters and objects
- 26:35Speaker 4: and different things, like it's done through sound. Perhaps the
- 26:38Speaker 4: evil guy in the show you're watching, you know, his
- 26:41Speaker 4: footsteps are a little deeper, and over time it kind
- 26:44Speaker 4: of gives him this darker, darker like understanding of who
- 26:48Speaker 4: this character is. And I just thought that was so
- 26:50Speaker 4: cool because it's totally like under the radar. They're tricking
- 26:55Speaker 4: you subliminal, subliminal, but it's so impactful because you know,
- 26:59Speaker 4: I'm I'm sure you've heard this or someone's heard like,
- 27:03Speaker 4: you know, the horror movies aren't so scary without the
- 27:06Speaker 4: music or sound effects, they're really not. They're actually silly
- 27:08Speaker 4: a little bit, you know. Or if you played some
- 27:10Speaker 4: funny music or like some goofy circus music right over it,
- 27:14Speaker 4: it's like this is hilarious, so true. You know. So
- 27:19Speaker 4: that's that's what I kind of originally fell in love with.
- 27:21Speaker 4: And and then you know, obviously as the sound dude
- 27:25Speaker 4: for those you're involved in video, Yeah, you know, and
- 27:29Speaker 4: then kind of full circle and dude, I really just
- 27:34Speaker 4: think a video with good sound is a good video,
- 27:37Speaker 4: Whereas I could listen to watch a bad video with
- 27:40Speaker 4: good sound and be chilling, you know what I mean.
- 27:42Speaker 4: I'd be good with that. But but if the good video,
- 27:44Speaker 4: really Chris video, had poor sound, I think it would
- 27:46Speaker 4: really pull me out.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Spot On, yeah, spot on, Yeah, man, I hear you.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I've always wanted to disconnect this board and bring it
- 27:55Speaker 2: out into the woods and catch the peepers, but not
- 27:58Speaker 2: sure I got the right mics.
- 27:59Speaker 4: And yeah, yeah, they have some really like awesome stuff.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Have you ever seen the folly studios and people doing folio?
- 28:08Speaker 4: Do you know what folio is?
- 28:09Speaker 3: No?
- 28:10Speaker 4: Okay, so this is really sick. This is called a
- 28:12Speaker 4: fully artist. It's a sound artist. It's basically they have
- 28:15Speaker 4: a room. It's a recording studio with like so many props,
- 28:19Speaker 4: bizarre props that I'll just make noise. It's like the
- 28:23Speaker 4: hinge that's a little squeaky they'll keep that okay, And
- 28:26Speaker 4: they put they put the show up on the on
- 28:30Speaker 4: like a movie projector, and they're got all these microphones
- 28:33Speaker 4: towards them and they hit play on the thing on
- 28:36Speaker 4: the on the on the video and they record the
- 28:39Speaker 4: sounds they're about to make, and they literally make all
- 28:42Speaker 4: the sounds live exactly to what it would be. And
- 28:45Speaker 4: it's called they're called folly artists and it's so fun.
- 28:49Speaker 4: They and they have so many different things, so many
- 28:52Speaker 4: different things like if you're walking through snow, the person
- 28:55Speaker 4: on cameras walking through snow, how you're gonna record the
- 28:57Speaker 4: sound effects where they take bags of flour and they
- 29:00Speaker 4: mush the flour together. Uh, and it kind of gives
- 29:03Speaker 4: that like crunch and compacting of like what powder would
- 29:05Speaker 4: sound like, was you like stepping it? You know what
- 29:07Speaker 4: I'm talking about? Right? Yeah, yeah, it's like that's that.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Or like you know, someone breaks their arm in an
- 29:10Speaker 4: action movie, they take celery, they get right up to
- 29:13Speaker 4: the micro snap.
- 29:15Speaker 1: This is industry.
- 29:16Speaker 4: It's industry, yeah, and it's right and it's all live.
- 29:19Speaker 4: That's what's cool about it is like so and then
- 29:21Speaker 4: so so the sound effects are almost literally tailored exactly
- 29:25Speaker 4: to the movie or show or video you're watching.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Tom's gonna be so blessed to have somebody who really
- 29:33Speaker 2: cares about the end product so well with you. Yeah,
- 29:38Speaker 2: you you are. You're so dialed into this. You know,
- 29:41Speaker 2: you know what you're doing. Yeah, perfectionist. I'm not a perfectionist.
- 29:45Speaker 2: I think Abbey is more of a perfectionist.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Than I am. I want to It's so hard, man,
- 29:49Speaker 4: because like you could get caught up on changing absolutely
- 29:53Speaker 4: everything to make it perfect. It will never be perfect.
- 29:55Speaker 4: It really won't be perfect. You'll always be tweaking the color.
- 29:58Speaker 4: You'll always be just in the volume. You'll always be
- 30:00Speaker 4: trying to you know, and especially in today's day and age,
- 30:05Speaker 4: where you've got to turn content.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Out right, Yeah, you're wasting time.
- 30:08Speaker 4: You're wasting time, dude. That thing's old news. We need
- 30:11Speaker 4: new stuff. So like you have to make it good.
- 30:14Speaker 4: You have to make it.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Uh.
- 30:17Speaker 4: I don't want to say good enough, right because I
- 30:19Speaker 4: don't want to sound like I'm setting the bar low.
- 30:22Speaker 4: But at the same time, we got stuff to do,
- 30:24Speaker 4: we got more stuff to get. That's old news. Sure,
- 30:26Speaker 4: So you have to be you know, you have to
- 30:29Speaker 4: you have to find the balance there.
- 30:32Speaker 2: What's up with your shirt?
- 30:36Speaker 4: Pracilion, I trained jiu jitsu.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Let's talk about that. Does get into that?
- 30:41Speaker 4: You know how to tell if someone trains jiu jitsu,
- 30:44Speaker 4: Don't worry, they'll tell you. They'll just tell you because
- 30:49Speaker 4: they love talking about jiu jitsu, which is me. I
- 30:53Speaker 4: love talking about jiu jitsu.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Rex Thompson, Yeah, is a friend of mine. He comes
- 30:58Speaker 2: in here every Friday morning.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I see, I'm on the show.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:01Speaker 2: And Donny Burke Fight Promotions and just loves Brazilian jiu jitsu.
- 31:08Speaker 2: That's all he wants to talk about. Oh yeah, there's
- 31:11Speaker 2: something up with you guys. I don't know if you've
- 31:13Speaker 2: been hitting the head or what the hell's going on
- 31:14Speaker 2: a little bit, but but there's something going on with
- 31:17Speaker 2: you guys where you're just like, this is how long
- 31:19Speaker 2: you've been doing this?
- 31:20Speaker 4: So I've been training jiu jitsu for like five years,
- 31:22Speaker 4: but I've been gone all in. I'm training up to
- 31:25Speaker 4: maybe even eleven times a week, and that sounds gnarly.
- 31:30Speaker 4: I'm always on the match, dude. I was on the mats.
- 31:32Speaker 4: I had three classes yesterday and that's just what I do.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I love it. I'm training the night all the time.
- 31:38Speaker 4: I wish i'll train Abby. She's not there yet. Okay,
- 31:41Speaker 4: she's not there yet, not into soon. She used to
- 31:44Speaker 4: train a little bit when she was younger. But all right,
- 31:47Speaker 4: but just that's not her back not yet. Okay, not
- 31:50Speaker 4: yet yet, No, one hundred percent, not yet. We're saying yet, correct, Okay,
- 31:55Speaker 4: fair enough. Yeah, but jiu jitsu is fantastic.
- 31:57Speaker 2: And this is obviously something that you have in common
- 32:01Speaker 2: with Tom. Yeah, you got do you guys get together
- 32:04Speaker 2: watch UFC? We watch you FC together. I think he
- 32:07Speaker 2: steals my ESPN Plus account, probably does, so he gets
- 32:11Speaker 2: he grabs that from me. Hey did you order the
- 32:14Speaker 2: fights last night? Okay, I'm gonna log in. What's your password?
- 32:16Speaker 4: Oh yeah, all right, yeah, but no, he he actually started,
- 32:21Speaker 4: you know when I when we first started. So he
- 32:23Speaker 4: had a bunch of mats from his youth and his
- 32:26Speaker 4: history and past and stuff. And when his uh I
- 32:29Speaker 4: started doing jiu jitsu. I was a bartender and during COVID,
- 32:33Speaker 4: and I was by myself a lot because uh, not
- 32:37Speaker 4: a lot of people working at that time, you know,
- 32:40Speaker 4: So I was a single person in a bar into
- 32:43Speaker 4: the late hours of the evening. Now, also the bar
- 32:47Speaker 4: I worked that wasn't a real divy bar, was a
- 32:48Speaker 4: pretty nice bar. However, all the other bars were shut down,
- 32:54Speaker 4: so all the clientele who wanted to be at a
- 32:56Speaker 4: bar was at a bar, and we were the only
- 32:58Speaker 4: bar open. Okay, So so there were some not bad situations,
- 33:02Speaker 4: but there was like an air of unsureeness. I never
- 33:05Speaker 4: had trained any martial art or anything in my life,
- 33:08Speaker 4: and I was out of shape as well, and you know,
- 33:12Speaker 4: I nothing happened, but I was wondering, like, had something
- 33:16Speaker 4: happened in those times those late hours of the morning
- 33:19Speaker 4: or early hours the morning what we call it, like
- 33:21Speaker 4: two am? And I was by myself. Would I be
- 33:25Speaker 4: ready for that situation, like to take care of myself
- 33:28Speaker 4: or protect someone or escort someone out. We didn't have
- 33:29Speaker 4: even have a bouncer, you know, so that's what kind
- 33:31Speaker 4: of got me into it. I knew Tom had the
- 33:33Speaker 4: mats and obviously had experience, so I just kind of
- 33:37Speaker 4: asked him about it, and he, you know, he we
- 33:39Speaker 4: we set some mats up in the basement underneath the
- 33:41Speaker 4: bar kind of like honestly like fight club, honestly like underground, underground,
- 33:46Speaker 4: literally underground on the DL and during a pandemic where
- 33:52Speaker 4: you know it is what it is, and sure, yeah,
- 33:54Speaker 4: I was sick and there was just something kind of
- 33:56Speaker 4: secretive and cool and dude. So that was after about
- 34:00Speaker 4: a couple months of me training jiu jitsu, I kind
- 34:04Speaker 4: of talk Tom into letting me take down some walls
- 34:08Speaker 4: and basically knocking down like four walls and expanding the mats.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Still underground, still super secretive. You need two keys to
- 34:15Speaker 4: get in here, or you need to know the special
- 34:16Speaker 4: knock on the door, we'll let you in.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Nice.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Yeah, dude, it was sick and then love that. Oh
- 34:21Speaker 4: it's so sick, such a sick part of history. And
- 34:23Speaker 4: then it grew, grew, grew, grew, gurgrew, and we decided
- 34:27Speaker 4: to make your public. So now we're in Saint Albans
- 34:29Speaker 4: called the Club, and we train. We got a bigger
- 34:32Speaker 4: place and it's it's pretty sick. And I actually have
- 34:35Speaker 4: kids programs now, beginner's programs now that I'm doing working
- 34:38Speaker 4: with And dude, you said, this stuff goes hand in
- 34:40Speaker 4: hand with sweets and heroes so many ways, man, the
- 34:43Speaker 4: sweethearts and heroes. I've tried to incorporate a lot of
- 34:46Speaker 4: their stuff into how I formulate these classes just because
- 34:50Speaker 4: I've seen how well it works in terms of learning right.
- 34:55Speaker 4: And Pat will tell you, Tom will tell you, everyone
- 34:57Speaker 4: will tell you. Play is how you learn right. And
- 34:59Speaker 4: to has been a huge mentor with me and kind
- 35:01Speaker 4: of my own venture of like trying to trying to
- 35:04Speaker 4: do this kid's jiu jitsu thing. He's been a huge
- 35:06Speaker 4: supporter and stuff, and I've just literally tried to listen
- 35:08Speaker 4: to everything he said about and keeping the the classes playful,
- 35:14Speaker 4: all this stuff, all this stuff, and you know, I
- 35:16Speaker 4: have my doubts, like are they learning anything? We're just
- 35:18Speaker 4: playing games like they can't be learning anything. I'm thinking
- 35:23Speaker 4: they're not. And then when push comes to shove and
- 35:25Speaker 4: they're actually learning so much, it astonishes me because I'm like,
- 35:30Speaker 4: how how do you remember this? I showed you this
- 35:33Speaker 4: one time and then we played freeze tag. How do
- 35:35Speaker 4: you remember this? But dude, and a lot of the
- 35:38Speaker 4: times I literally steal their formula. I get them going first.
- 35:42Speaker 4: We start with dodgeball. Most people end with dodgeball. It's
- 35:45Speaker 4: like that's your your yes, that's your reward, you've been
- 35:49Speaker 4: good today, you can throw. I start with dodgeball. It's
- 35:51Speaker 4: the same formula as a circle. So this is what
- 35:53Speaker 4: my teen class looks like. First of all, I mixed
- 35:55Speaker 4: ages have the I have four year olds to nine
- 35:58Speaker 4: year olds. That's quite the range of developed mental ages. Sure,
- 36:02Speaker 4: you know there's not a classroom in America that's a
- 36:04Speaker 4: four year old to a nine year.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Old big time.
- 36:05Speaker 4: But you look at what Sweethearts and Heroes does with
- 36:10Speaker 4: their Braves program, where you have these high schoolers and
- 36:13Speaker 4: older kids going on to these younger students. Yeah, that's
- 36:15Speaker 4: where the meaningful connection happens. Modeling of like social norms happen.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Everything in this age mix learning, age mix play.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Well, these kids are watching, they're watching you, and they're
- 36:27Speaker 2: watching others with Sweethearts and Heroes, but they're also watching
- 36:32Speaker 2: their peers, their peers, especially the older kids. Yeah, the
- 36:37Speaker 2: younger kids are watching the older kids. That's exactly what
- 36:39Speaker 2: they're doing. And you see it in schools with Seeearts
- 36:41Speaker 2: and Heroes. And I basically kind of tested it. I've
- 36:44Speaker 2: really put it under like my own like test. If
- 36:47Speaker 2: you will not then I'm like a scientist or anything.
- 36:49Speaker 4: But but and I and it's just so evident, so
- 36:53Speaker 4: evident that that's how it works. And we basically do
- 36:56Speaker 4: an activity first, an activator, and then we circle up
- 36:59Speaker 4: and we talk, we ask a question. I let them
- 37:01Speaker 4: come up with a question, right, like how Pat does,
- 37:04Speaker 4: like how Tom does with circle and stuff. And it's
- 37:06Speaker 4: just so awesome to see this. These these are human skills.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Sweets and heroes has human skills. It's not just school
- 37:11Speaker 4: stuff like anyone. And this is just kind of cool
- 37:14Speaker 4: because so I've taken this right for this little mini example,
- 37:18Speaker 4: I've taken this and I've kind of applied their model
- 37:21Speaker 4: to how I'm running my business right, my gym, whatever
- 37:24Speaker 4: we call it. Anyone can do that with their business
- 37:29Speaker 4: or restaurant or anything, and it'll literally just make it better, better, better, better,
- 37:34Speaker 4: and a place you want to work, a place that
- 37:36Speaker 4: you like, a place that you feel like cares about you,
- 37:40Speaker 4: and therefore you care about it and you want to
- 37:44Speaker 4: try your hardest to make it the best it can
- 37:46Speaker 4: be instead of just being like clock and clock out.
- 37:50Speaker 4: Take advantage of this I'm doing, you know what I mean?
- 37:52Speaker 4: Kind of Yeah, it's just it's just so Yeah, I
- 37:55Speaker 4: want to ask you.
- 37:56Speaker 2: I want to ask you, and I can't help but
- 37:59Speaker 2: wonder so I'm going to ask you a personal question.
- 38:03Speaker 1: How old.
- 38:04Speaker 4: Are you I am twenty nine?
- 38:07Speaker 1: Are you dad?
- 38:08Speaker 4: I am not a dad.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Do you aspire to be a dad? Do you dream
- 38:13Speaker 2: of being a dad?
- 38:15Speaker 4: Yeah? I guess that's I mean, I don't. I wouldn't
- 38:17Speaker 4: say I dream of it, but I do smile when
- 38:20Speaker 4: I think of the idea and the possibilities of, like,
- 38:24Speaker 4: you know, trying to teach or help or train.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Bring someone into this Yeah, absolutely insane world.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's kind of interesting to toy with that
- 38:40Speaker 4: idea and like wonder and like how it's going to
- 38:42Speaker 4: work out, and oh I wish I could, you know,
- 38:44Speaker 4: like and I like that and I like seeing people
- 38:48Speaker 4: kind of I don't know, get helped by kind of
- 38:55Speaker 4: something that might have might have Yeah, I might have
- 38:58Speaker 4: had a hand in that. Yeah.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I became a dad much much later in life.
- 39:06Speaker 2: I was forty three when Lily was born, and man,
- 39:10Speaker 2: it is it is a constant job. I could imagine,
- 39:16Speaker 2: mean kids just have in the older they get, the
- 39:21Speaker 2: more complex it seems to get where you need to
- 39:25Speaker 2: be on your toes. And I'm sure I shouldn't assume,
- 39:31Speaker 2: but it seems like it would be easy for you
- 39:35Speaker 2: to be in what you do for sweethearts and heroes
- 39:39Speaker 2: at twenty nine years old, seeing hearing, experiencing what you're
- 39:43Speaker 2: experiencing with these schools, to imagine yourself as a father,
- 39:51Speaker 2: and how you would respond react if that was your
- 39:59Speaker 2: kid who said that or felt that way.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, no, it's what you're seeing in your camera. Yeah, no,
- 40:09Speaker 4: I know. I think it's helped me a lot, and
- 40:10Speaker 4: I think it's I think it is kind of simulated
- 40:14Speaker 4: slowly my own personal journey into maybe being a father someday. Yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 4: I definitely think so. And even with jiu jitsu, I
- 40:20Speaker 4: get that question a lot, like, oh, do you have kids? Wait,
- 40:23Speaker 4: you're gonna be a great dad. They say this, you know,
- 40:25Speaker 4: and it's like I joke with them. It's like I
- 40:27Speaker 4: get them, get to give him back after an hour. Yeah,
- 40:29Speaker 4: I can be a good dad for an hour, sure,
- 40:31Speaker 4: you know, Like I joke with him. But it's funny
- 40:33Speaker 4: that you said that you had you had Lily, yes
- 40:36Speaker 4: later in life. I don't think that's a bad thing, man,
- 40:39Speaker 4: I think that's pretty sweet. We were just talking to
- 40:42Speaker 4: uh Peter Hawk is his name, and he is the owner,
- 40:48Speaker 4: I don't know, runner of this organization called Flying Ryan Organization.
- 40:54Speaker 4: His son, Ryan Hawk from Vermont, phenomenal skier, just tore
- 40:59Speaker 4: it up like world class, bombing hills, sending flips, all
- 41:05Speaker 4: this stuff, traveling all the all around the world California,
- 41:08Speaker 4: competing and just absolutely representing Vermont and just crushing it.
- 41:13Speaker 4: And unfortunately he took a Unfortunately, fortunately he took a
- 41:20Speaker 4: spill and anyways, it ended up they ended up having
- 41:24Speaker 4: to pull the plug or you know, and it is
- 41:27Speaker 4: what it is. But Peter, the reason why I went
- 41:30Speaker 4: into this was because Peter was like fifty when he
- 41:33Speaker 4: had his son. And I think it's interesting because I
- 41:37Speaker 4: think the older the father is when they have their child,
- 41:39Speaker 4: it almost makes their child more of like one of
- 41:42Speaker 4: those old souls, do you know what I'm talking about?
- 41:45Speaker 4: And because Ryan, and I think and Ryan was very
- 41:50Speaker 4: like kind of mature. He had it's he well, he
- 41:53Speaker 4: had fun, you know, he he had fun, and he
- 41:55Speaker 4: also he also did some things that would surprise you
- 41:58Speaker 4: as a child, as like a twenty five year old
- 42:00Speaker 4: young person. And I don't know, I just think there's
- 42:04Speaker 4: something to having like that older father figure in your
- 42:07Speaker 4: life and you never know the impact that has. And
- 42:09Speaker 4: I almost think it's worth like like cause you got
- 42:13Speaker 4: to let your stuff settle, you know what I mean?
- 42:15Speaker 4: And like, once you get a little older and you've
- 42:17Speaker 4: kind of gone through the like the angst and the
- 42:20Speaker 4: young like testosterone filled quick to rage kind of like yo,
- 42:23Speaker 4: like stick it to the man kind of I think
- 42:26Speaker 4: thing which is natural once you've kind of gone over
- 42:29Speaker 4: that hill and you've gained some wisdom and made your mistakes.
- 42:31Speaker 4: I think, honestly, that's the time to do it. To
- 42:34Speaker 4: raise a child.
- 42:35Speaker 2: It's so interesting to hear that, Wow, what are you
- 42:42Speaker 2: hoping to do with your career? What is the next
- 42:48Speaker 2: thing that you want to do either with sweethearts and heroes.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Or beyond.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I think definitely just reflecting I've liked I've
- 43:01Speaker 4: liked helping people. I liked teaching people, and I didn't
- 43:04Speaker 4: know that's what I liked. But as I look backwards,
- 43:08Speaker 4: I do see that's the pattern. Now. I used to
- 43:10Speaker 4: teach snowboarding for about ten years. I got hired as
- 43:13Speaker 4: a snowboard instruct when I was fourteen years old. Wow,
- 43:15Speaker 4: so I was kind of like formally trained to teach
- 43:19Speaker 4: at a young age and I did that for like
- 43:24Speaker 4: ten years, went to school, did the restaurant, thing, was
- 43:27Speaker 4: a bartender, did a cook. As a cook, I was
- 43:30Speaker 4: like the leader of the kitchen for a little bit,
- 43:33Speaker 4: and I was teaching high school students how to chop
- 43:36Speaker 4: onions safely, how to kind of you know, hey, man,
- 43:40Speaker 4: it's important to work hard, you know. And don't you
- 43:43Speaker 4: quit on me now, dude, where if you quit on me,
- 43:47Speaker 4: you quit on all of us.
- 43:48Speaker 1: We're screwed.
- 43:49Speaker 4: We're screwed. And I don't know, so I'd like to
- 43:52Speaker 4: think that those mini lessons are something that are pretty
- 43:54Speaker 4: applicable to their entire lives and how they approach lives.
- 43:57Speaker 1: It's a great mindset.
- 43:58Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a great mindset, you know, ju jitsu, teaching
- 44:01Speaker 4: all ages, sweets and heroes, filming, interacting with these students,
- 44:05Speaker 4: talking to them, listening to them. I think for this
- 44:08Speaker 4: next year, the plan is for me to start helping
- 44:13Speaker 4: and being not in front of the camera, but maybe
- 44:16Speaker 4: without a camera in these schools, Yeah, and kind of
- 44:18Speaker 4: working with students, taking them through our step program, just
- 44:24Speaker 4: some local schools where I grew up. Actually my elementary
- 44:27Speaker 4: in middle school, which is going to be a trip. Man,
- 44:30Speaker 4: that's going to be a trip, because what school this
- 44:32Speaker 4: is Georgia Elementary Middle school now right here in Vermont,
- 44:35Speaker 4: right here in Vermont, correct. Yeah, And you know I
- 44:38Speaker 4: was saying this to Tom, and it's like the first
- 44:40Speaker 4: time I went back, it's like, oh dude, awkward. I'm
- 44:43Speaker 4: like cringing as I'm walking through the halls because I
- 44:46Speaker 4: used to be a little rascal, you know what I mean.
- 44:50Speaker 4: In those schools. I would do stuff I got voted
- 44:52Speaker 4: the class clown.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Capital Capital R on that rascal.
- 44:55Speaker 4: Oh yeah, okay, Capital R. And my parents both work
- 44:59Speaker 4: for the dish. So I never really got held accountable
- 45:02Speaker 4: for some of my shenanigans because I would always joke
- 45:05Speaker 4: like my mom's the one who pays you, stupid joke
- 45:09Speaker 4: like I would. I would, and they knew it, you know,
- 45:12Speaker 4: like teachers knew it. So I don't know if I
- 45:14Speaker 4: necessarily got the fair treatment of getting in trouble. But
- 45:17Speaker 4: in hindsight, I was a kid man like you know,
- 45:20Speaker 4: So when I walked through these halls, it's like I
- 45:22Speaker 4: remember being in that classroom getting in trouble there, you know.
- 45:25Speaker 4: And I was talking to tell him about I said,
- 45:28Speaker 4: oh man, I could I could do this step thing
- 45:30Speaker 4: where I go back and do this schools. But then
- 45:33Speaker 4: I said to him and said, it's just kind of
- 45:34Speaker 4: awkward because you know, I wasn't really a model student,
- 45:37Speaker 4: and he's the one who brought up to me. He said,
- 45:39Speaker 4: what a beautiful story. How you were an influencer. I
- 45:44Speaker 4: influenced people one hundred percent. I was not an unpopular kid.
- 45:47Speaker 4: I had a ton of friends. We were having fun,
- 45:49Speaker 4: you know, but perhaps I didn't lead them the right way,
- 45:51Speaker 4: and I was celebrated. This is what's interesting when we
- 45:55Speaker 4: talk about celebrating kids students. I was celebrated for being
- 45:59Speaker 4: the class clown. Dude, when I got nominated and won
- 46:02Speaker 4: that as a little eighth grader, that was huge, dude,
- 46:05Speaker 4: sure sick. What am I doing in high school?
- 46:08Speaker 2: Is that.
- 46:10Speaker 4: It should be you know what it should be? Actually yeah,
- 46:13Speaker 4: you know, but at the time, it's like that's like
- 46:15Speaker 4: a massive like I don't know, you feel important, yeah,
- 46:19Speaker 4: but you might be, you know, like almost pinning that
- 46:23Speaker 4: kid into that role in a way, and then it
- 46:28Speaker 4: needs you need to be celebrated for something different or
- 46:30Speaker 4: maybe something productive to kind of break that cycle or
- 46:37Speaker 4: kind of like avoid it, like could you be the
- 46:38Speaker 4: class clown and be productive? And Tom was just basically
- 46:41Speaker 4: saying to me, like, it's just a beautiful story. The
- 46:43Speaker 4: character arc of that now you're returning into this school
- 46:47Speaker 4: promoting something different based on who he used to be.
- 46:49Speaker 4: It's just it's really the sweethearts in hero's message kind
- 46:52Speaker 4: of that's the big picture. Man, that's like the loop.
- 46:55Speaker 4: That's like part of that loop. So so it's kind
- 46:59Speaker 4: of changed my approach to I'm embracing that that new
- 47:02Speaker 4: step no pun intended into into this Isn't it.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Refreshing at the very least. Two working with Tom that
- 47:15Speaker 2: the way he's wired is no matter what it is
- 47:21Speaker 2: that you say that, he looks at it as a gift,
- 47:27Speaker 2: whatever your experience is, whatever your your story is. He's like, Yeah,
- 47:34Speaker 2: that's that's usable, that's that's teachable, that's that's that's a gift.
- 47:39Speaker 2: That's valuable. Yeah, whether even if it's something that's frankly horrible. Yeah,
- 47:45Speaker 2: that that you're you're going.
- 47:47Speaker 4: Through exactly, that's Tom and that's Rick. Look at both
- 47:50Speaker 4: of that, you know what I mean Like, yeah, and
- 47:53Speaker 4: you know, if you've got you know, it's kind of
- 47:56Speaker 4: interesting because if you just say good to something, you know,
- 48:02Speaker 4: and you just start there and kind of approach all
- 48:05Speaker 4: other thoughts or actions through that lens. Sure, then what
- 48:10Speaker 4: bad could it be? It couldn't be, you know, because
- 48:12Speaker 4: you've started it and good, you know what I mean.
- 48:15Speaker 4: And the same thing with Tom, like over the past,
- 48:18Speaker 4: I mean, I hear you ask people on here, like
- 48:20Speaker 4: you know, Tom's always doing something. He doesn't stop working,
- 48:23Speaker 4: he doesn't stop working. And like, in a way that's
- 48:25Speaker 4: good too, you know, because like if every idea you
- 48:28Speaker 4: have you say no to, like in a way, that's
- 48:33Speaker 4: not very you know, that's not growing. If you say
- 48:37Speaker 4: yes and toy with idea and play with it, you know.
- 48:40Speaker 4: I just think, I just think sometimes we ourselves can
- 48:43Speaker 4: be our own kind of filters or barriers. And if
- 48:47Speaker 4: it's either bad or no, that's where you want to start. Well,
- 48:50Speaker 4: it's going to be tough to get off that platform.
- 48:53Speaker 4: But if you start with like yes or good, now
- 48:57Speaker 4: what Like I don't know. I just feel like even
- 48:59Speaker 4: maybe or even maybe is a better a better step.
- 49:03Speaker 4: Maybe he's cool because maybe he's fluid, you have options
- 49:06Speaker 4: that maybe you know what I mean. It's it's not
- 49:08Speaker 4: boxing yourself in if you immediately say no or bad,
- 49:12Speaker 4: like I don't know, and that's hard man, because it's
- 49:14Speaker 4: it's human nature to kind of like, I don't know,
- 49:18Speaker 4: we don't have enough, we don't. It's like, but it's
- 49:20Speaker 4: it's stressful, dude.
- 49:22Speaker 2: You know, I was in a I was in my
- 49:26Speaker 2: first Tom Murphy circle. I mean there's circles and then
- 49:32Speaker 2: there's a Tom Murphy circle.
- 49:35Speaker 4: Yeah you know what I'm saying, dude. I know he
- 49:38Speaker 4: collects the tears of children God.
- 49:42Speaker 1: And it was it was an experience, yeah, you know.
- 49:46Speaker 2: And and I was able to podcast a little bit
- 49:48Speaker 2: with some of the students there at PERU.
- 49:51Speaker 4: I know, it was awesome episode.
- 49:52Speaker 2: And I was like, have fun interrupt go yeah.
- 50:01Speaker 1: And they were like, no, no, these are our rules.
- 50:05Speaker 2: Now whoever has the microphone is speaking, and if you
- 50:10Speaker 2: don't have the microphone.
- 50:12Speaker 4: Zip it.
- 50:14Speaker 2: I'm not used to that, but I know that was
- 50:17Speaker 2: very difficult for me to sit there listen to not
- 50:23Speaker 2: just two or three people, but several people. And I'm
- 50:30Speaker 2: I'm a naturally inquisitive kui. I got questions, I got
- 50:34Speaker 2: follow up questions. Here are tons, yeah, and it was
- 50:37Speaker 2: so hard for me to sit and force myself.
- 50:42Speaker 1: To listen, but I had to.
- 50:45Speaker 2: And Tom's like, you're not understanding this Bob, that's what
- 50:51Speaker 2: this is about. Yeah, it's about listening. It's not about
- 50:56Speaker 2: learning more and asking questions and stuff. That was very
- 51:00Speaker 2: hard for me.
- 51:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I could imagine.
- 51:02Speaker 1: So I'm like, I.
- 51:04Speaker 2: Got three follow up questions for this, dude, Yeah, I
- 51:08Speaker 2: got three or four follow up questions for that one.
- 51:10Speaker 2: How am I going to memorize all this stuff by
- 51:12Speaker 2: the time this whole circle thing is over?
- 51:15Speaker 4: Yeah? You know that's so that's such a great point.
- 51:19Speaker 4: That's such a great point because that happens to me too.
- 51:22Speaker 4: I think we're similar in that respect in terms of,
- 51:24Speaker 4: like we wonder we want to keep the conversation going, evolving.
- 51:30Speaker 4: I do it out of learning, but I also kind
- 51:32Speaker 4: of feel like I do it out of a social
- 51:34Speaker 4: obligation as well. Yeah, do you know what I'm saying?
- 51:36Speaker 4: Kind of right, And then in regards to this, it's
- 51:39Speaker 4: almost like, you know, I used to do a radio
- 51:40Speaker 4: show back in college, and like I would always get
- 51:43Speaker 4: kind of flack for maybe allowing too much dead air
- 51:46Speaker 4: or something. So I would kind of be trained to
- 51:49Speaker 4: fill stuff phil, you know. And then in circle, like
- 51:52Speaker 4: when you have follow up questions and you're like, bro,
- 51:55Speaker 4: I got three for you, I have three things. I
- 51:56Speaker 4: got two. It's like one. I think first of all,
- 52:00Speaker 4: you get muddied up in your own conscience and trying
- 52:02Speaker 4: to soar and memorize instead of just being that's tricky
- 52:06Speaker 4: to break. You know what I'm saying, But it's important.
- 52:09Speaker 4: It's crucial to this for the circle to work, and
- 52:11Speaker 4: it'll happen as you practice it because listening is a skill.
- 52:14Speaker 4: It truly is a skill. It truly is a skill.
- 52:16Speaker 4: And then also by the time that thing gets around
- 52:19Speaker 4: to you, even if you remember it all socially, you're
- 52:24Speaker 4: not gonna ask everyone those questions. You're not just gonna
- 52:26Speaker 4: dump it out. You might ask like one or two.
- 52:30Speaker 4: So I think it also promotes like, really, what's important
- 52:33Speaker 4: and let's let's fire those do you know what I'm saying,
- 52:36Speaker 4: kind of instead of just blasting everyone all this stuff, right,
- 52:40Speaker 4: which is what happens all the time, dude, Like all
- 52:43Speaker 4: the time it's just produced, consume, produce, consume. It can
- 52:46Speaker 4: be you know what I'm saying. And perhaps some of
- 52:49Speaker 4: the meaning and actual deliberate uh oh, I have something
- 52:53Speaker 4: to say to you after some of the deliberate like
- 52:57Speaker 4: choosing you know, it might it might fall to the wayside,
- 53:02Speaker 4: if you if you if you're not super I don't know.
- 53:05Speaker 4: Do you get what I'm saying? Kind of like that,
- 53:07Speaker 4: and I think it's worth exploring. Okay, yeah, you said
- 53:11Speaker 4: you had four rs on this podcast. Bro, I disagree
- 53:14Speaker 4: with you. I think real. I think real is the
- 53:19Speaker 4: one you said relatable. But I think if you are real,
- 53:25Speaker 4: you will is.
- 53:26Speaker 1: The first one. Yes, Okay, you think that's the most
- 53:28Speaker 1: important one.
- 53:29Speaker 4: I would think so, I would think so. I mean,
- 53:33Speaker 4: I think you know. That's the reason why I said
- 53:36Speaker 4: real is because I think real is the most important one,
- 53:41Speaker 4: because how can you be relatable if you're not real? Man?
- 53:45Speaker 4: You know, I think everything channels through that. Do you
- 53:50Speaker 4: know what I mean?
- 53:51Speaker 2: I do.
- 53:53Speaker 4: You're pretty real. So that's why I relate to you.
- 53:58Speaker 1: You know.
- 53:59Speaker 2: Tom said to me when I was when I was
- 54:02Speaker 2: all done in Peru, dude, call me, and I'm like, oh,
- 54:09Speaker 2: here we go.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Entering into the world of Tom Murphy. I know he's
- 54:18Speaker 2: going to pummel me with questions, but he only had
- 54:24Speaker 2: really one question, which was what you think?
- 54:28Speaker 4: Of course, what a great question for real? I know,
- 54:33Speaker 4: what a great question.
- 54:34Speaker 2: And I'm you know, I'm I'm I'm like, okay, so
- 54:41Speaker 2: I'm trying to tell him what I think and he's like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 54:44Speaker 2: yeah yeah, But what's what's like the real big takeaway
- 54:48Speaker 2: that you had from circle? And I said that it
- 54:54Speaker 2: was very difficult for me to to listen and to
- 54:58Speaker 2: not get answers to the questions, the follow up questions
- 55:03Speaker 2: that I had, and he said, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know,
- 55:07Speaker 2: but what's what's even what's even bigger than that? And
- 55:13Speaker 2: I had to stop and think to myself, and I'm like,
- 55:16Speaker 2: I think the biggest thing is that I remember every
- 55:24Speaker 2: single story that was shared by those kids that went
- 55:31Speaker 2: around the circle. I remembered them. I still remember them.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Maybe their stories would not have resonated or have been
- 55:48Speaker 2: remembered as well by me. Maybe they would be clouded
- 55:53Speaker 2: a little bit or deluded if I were to get
- 55:56Speaker 2: all of the answers to my follow up questions, but
- 56:00Speaker 2: just to shut up and be quiet and listen. There's
- 56:06Speaker 2: only one direction, and it's from them to your ears.
- 56:13Speaker 2: It's it's not reciprocal, and I think, I don't know.
- 56:19Speaker 2: I think that was one of the big things is
- 56:21Speaker 2: that I was forced to be quiet, which is the
- 56:27Speaker 2: absolute opposite of what I do here. I encourage interrupting
- 56:32Speaker 2: and engagement that way.
- 56:34Speaker 4: Yeah, there's there's Yeah, there's so much to be you know,
- 56:38Speaker 4: said and thought about about that, man, Like you know,
- 56:41Speaker 4: I just I like to play with that idea as well.
- 56:44Speaker 4: And I think, like, dude, like if I only you know,
- 56:48Speaker 4: understood or tried to understand like myself and my own stories,
- 56:51Speaker 4: like do you know the smallest little fraction of the
- 56:54Speaker 4: human experience I've I've been involved in, you know what
- 56:57Speaker 4: I'm saying kind of like so like when I listen
- 56:59Speaker 4: to other people's stories and even this series we're about
- 57:02Speaker 4: to start cranking on called Force through Hope, which is
- 57:05Speaker 4: a real powerful, like super top secret forged Force through Hope,
- 57:10Speaker 4: Man through Hope. Yeah, And it's basically, you know, I'll
- 57:13Speaker 4: just tell you what it is. It's like, you know,
- 57:14Speaker 4: we view some of our struggles which are very very
- 57:18Speaker 4: much considered in the struggle struggle category, and instead of
- 57:23Speaker 4: letting that just destroy us and squash us down and
- 57:26Speaker 4: put our fire out. Essentially, what Force through Hope is
- 57:29Speaker 4: is we take that, we travel through those stories and
- 57:31Speaker 4: those experiences, and then we come out on the other
- 57:35Speaker 4: side way stronger, than the person were we went in
- 57:39Speaker 4: and we were forged you know, hard unpleasant environment, very
- 57:45Speaker 4: very very extreme scenarios, and.
- 57:48Speaker 5: The the the tool that we are like the you know,
- 57:54Speaker 5: like the hardness of us, the hope, the the resiliency
- 57:58Speaker 5: and every you know attribute when we come out of
- 58:01Speaker 5: those circumstances, we leverage into being better.
- 58:05Speaker 4: And that's essentially what we're trying to capture on camera
- 58:07Speaker 4: right now through these interviews series that we're doing. And
- 58:12Speaker 4: where I was going with this is you know, doing
- 58:15Speaker 4: this listening to these stories, whether it be circle or
- 58:18Speaker 4: behind the camera. In my scenario right now, like you're
- 58:21Speaker 4: getting so much experience of other humans, experience, you know,
- 58:28Speaker 4: in condition that you really I am fortunate enough to
- 58:32Speaker 4: never have gone through some of these things even remotely close.
- 58:36Speaker 4: Like take Rick for example, man like like bro that's wild.
- 58:41Speaker 4: The week or two before, he says to his friend,
- 58:44Speaker 4: literally I'm not sure if he said this to you.
- 58:46Speaker 4: I think he said this to you, but it's out
- 58:48Speaker 4: in the open. He said, if I ever lose my leg,
- 58:51Speaker 4: I want you to kill me. He said it, and
- 58:56Speaker 4: he meant it, meant it because he's seeing all these people,
- 58:59Speaker 4: you know, and then it's like, hey, dude, now what
- 59:04Speaker 4: you know? And then he got he and Rick, you
- 59:07Speaker 4: heard it. He's way better now than he has ever been,
- 59:10Speaker 4: way stronger. And look at all the people he's impacting,
- 59:13Speaker 4: Haley for example, complete derivative right from Rick. You know
- 59:17Speaker 4: what I'm saying, And this is the chain, this is
- 59:19Speaker 4: the contagion of this, hope. Your struggles don't necessarily define you,
- 59:25Speaker 4: but they do build you, and they do make you.
- 59:28Speaker 4: And that's what's kind of cool about it. And you know, yeah,
- 59:32Speaker 4: that's what that's what I like, and that's you know,
- 59:34Speaker 4: I think it's very poetic in a way and very
- 59:38Speaker 4: much a good kind of mindset, you know, instead of
- 59:42Speaker 4: instead of looking at it as in a negative window.
- 59:45Speaker 2: We yeah, we talked about what what happened to me
- 59:49Speaker 2: versus what happened for me. One of Rick's greatest gifts,
- 59:55Speaker 2: I think, and I think he knows this. I think
- 59:58Speaker 2: anyone that knows Rick knows this is time. Time has
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: allowed him the amazing gift of being able to look
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: back in perspective and say, I'm glad this happened for me.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: I'm better because of it. I'm a different person. At
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: the time, and Rick was saying this at the time,
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: nothing could have possibly been worse. How is there anything
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: good about this or could become good about this? And
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: here he is looking back saying, what a great gift.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Look at you know what I've won of one time.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: I'm here, Yeah, I'm here.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: Yeah. That's such a bizarre concept time, Like you know,
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: and in Rick scenario, some traumas are strung out throughout time,
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: like you know, maybe abusive relationships or drug addiction or something.
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: But Rix was instantaneous, you know, and then all the
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: time it takes to recover from it, and you know,
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: and that's what everything. Time is so bizarre, man, what
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: a bizarre like even concept.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: If you're not familiar with Rick.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Rick Yarrish is one of the team members, one of
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: the family members of Sweethearts and Heroes who was blown
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: up out of a Bradley tank during during the war
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: out in the Middle East and was covered in diesel
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: fuel and was burning alive.
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: Burning alive, and then like it doesn't even stop there,
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: like and then he rolled into like a sewer pit. Yeah,
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: and then you know it's.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Like broke his leg from from jumping out of the
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: or falling out of the ten feet high out of
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: this Bradley Yeah vehicle.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: I mean, And.
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: It's always in then with that story, man, And it's
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: just like whoa, whoa, whoa. And then when you hear
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: that as someone who's feeling maybe down on yourself or
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: or thinking it's the end of the road for you.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: Any age, any age, that's another thing. It's any age.
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: It's not just children, it's it's adult, it's linemen in America,
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: it's other veterans, it's you know, dude, it's it's the
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: human existence. When you hear Rick's story or ones like it,
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: you realize that there still isn't in then for yourself,
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: and you might wanna, you know, and there's a road
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: to recovery whatever that may be. And hold on the
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: possibilities do exist, which involves time, the bizarre concept of
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: you know, just keep letting it tick and keep trying,
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: you know, like, don't give up, hold on, hold on,
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: holding on to something's in action, man, Like you can
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: really break this down, like that's an act. That's a
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: choice of Literally, I'm not letting go. It's will. It's will,
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: its action, its effort, and possibilities is trust and faith,
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: I would say, and they exist, you know, what I mean,
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: it's just so deep, like that one acronym, you know
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: how Tom lost acronyms, but like it's so deep, there's
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: so much packed in there. If you really think about
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: holding on to the possibilities that exists, they exist.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: They're there, and sometimes for many of us, this can
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: be a this this can be something that we have
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: to be saying to ourselves out loud, like almost every
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: every minute of the day for some of us.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: Probably until it becomes instinctual or habit, or maybe it
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: never will be. And it's a good practice to just do.
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: I think you're right with that.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: Man speaking of Alignment North Line Utilities. Nathan Buttewell is
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: going to be in here on the tail end of
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: the month, last Wednesday of July, so.
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: All right right on looking forward to wait, you know,
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: that'll be a great show man. And so it's some
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: of the stuff that those guys do. We put a
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: little clip together, I mean, and I worked on a
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: little video for a presentation Tom was doing. And man,
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: some of the predicaments that they're in in their.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Career, A lot of untold stuff.
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: Oh my gosh. Yeah, and then like leaving your family
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: for long periods of time and just like, yeah, so
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: much stuff, so much stressful environments.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: It's like, wow, wild Rick's going to be back pretty soon.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: Josiah is going to be on the air with us
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: as well, Brian is going to be on with us.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: I think next Wednesday. We've got a lot of stuff
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: going on with you, guys. Man, it's gonna be fantastic.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: Thank you ever so much for getting in here. Thanks
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: to Abby, thanks to Tom, thanks to all of you
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: for having the amazing impacts that you continue to do
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: and continue to have on so many people, not just kids, been.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: Dude, I hope not not just kids. Thank you very much, man,
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: Thanks guys, assa
