- 0:16Speaker 1: Return to glory, Potts Rose the code of free dag.
- 0:25Speaker 1: What was the final score?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Was it.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Huskers lose the Penn States in Happy Valley and get embarrassed?
- 0:39Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yeah. I was really optimistic going to that game. I
- 0:45Speaker 2: thought Nebraska was for sure going to cover and win,
- 0:51Speaker 2: and that was not the case.
- 0:54Speaker 3: That opening drive, It's like, oh boy, this could be it.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Yeah, But did you guys think the same way when
- 1:01Speaker 2: they got stuffed? I'm like, oh, this is that's I
- 1:04Speaker 2: feel like that was kind of a game.
- 1:05Speaker 3: They didn't kick the field goal right off the bat.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I was like, I would have kicked the field goal there.
- 1:11Speaker 2: I don't know about kicking the field goal. I just
- 1:13Speaker 2: I would have just done the heinter Carter Router, cardberk
- 1:16Speaker 2: Just push. That's what I would have done. But looking
- 1:21Speaker 2: back now, I guess yeah, I just I didn't like
- 1:24Speaker 2: to play sold all right.
- 1:24Speaker 3: There.
- 1:26Speaker 4: You guys just jumped right into the game the first
- 1:30Speaker 4: I love it. I love it. Yeah, awesome. Now, I
- 1:35Speaker 4: don't know if it mattered.
- 1:38Speaker 1: That clearly just showed the Penn State had way more
- 1:44Speaker 1: talent than we did from we start to finish. And
- 1:50Speaker 1: that's why football is so weird. Is like.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Penn State lost to U seel.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Like keep that in mind, but with with Drew Aller.
- 2:03Speaker 1: That team like, but I like that game went like
- 2:10Speaker 1: take everything outside of what happened this year going into
- 2:12Speaker 1: the year, that game, if you would have sent Nebraska
- 2:15Speaker 1: lost to Penn State thirty seven to ten, you would
- 2:18Speaker 1: have been like, yeah, not great, but okay, makes sense
- 2:23Speaker 1: when when you thought heading into the year. But the
- 2:25Speaker 1: funny part is the circumstances were very, very different from
- 2:29Speaker 1: their standpoint anyways, I guess from Nebraska's standpoint, I don't know.
- 2:32Speaker 1: We were were probably help where we expected to be
- 2:36Speaker 1: record wise around there, and that game, they it just
- 2:44Speaker 1: looked like they were better than this and especially especially
- 2:47Speaker 1: especially upfront on well for sure when they were run offense,
- 2:53Speaker 1: but still our offensive line was has been what it
- 2:58Speaker 1: has been all year.
- 2:59Speaker 4: So it's just very evident.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And I don't know that at a surprise, I guess,
- 3:08Speaker 1: Dak you were very optimistic, like you said, but I
- 3:12Speaker 1: I think I said twenty seven ten or twenty seven seventeen,
- 3:16Speaker 1: that was where my head was at all all week.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I I wasn't too shocked. I just didn't I didn't
- 3:22Speaker 1: think it would get this ugly and mainly I'm thinking
- 3:28Speaker 1: more from the defensive end. Like I, I was very
- 3:34Speaker 1: surprised at our defensive game plan.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Let's put it that way, so that we.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Knew they were going to run the ball, and we
- 3:42Speaker 3: left them run the ball.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Hold up here, why why we're still down? We all
- 3:47Speaker 2: we all think I'm in the year. This gonna be
- 3:48Speaker 2: the toughest game in the year. Like we all thought,
- 3:50Speaker 2: this way is going to go, not getting their backup
- 3:55Speaker 2: quarterback game, find their coach. But but yeah, I I
- 4:01Speaker 2: guess we can dive in that defensive game playing that.
- 4:03Speaker 2: That's easily number one.
- 4:07Speaker 3: That's what I won. Problematic slaughtered.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Before we get into that game war. I just want
- 4:13Speaker 1: to keep it very high level, like, yeah, we got slaughtered,
- 4:17Speaker 1: like we just both ends. But we just did.
- 4:20Speaker 4: The game was not good now, it was boring.
- 4:24Speaker 3: It was like I would say, the fifty two yards
- 4:26Speaker 3: round in the first drive, we had no offense.
- 4:30Speaker 1: People turned it off like I didn't want to why
- 4:34Speaker 1: I stuck with it, but it wasn't enjoyed out.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I was scrolling online.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I cut it off when it was thirty three, I
- 4:44Speaker 2: shut it off. I can't remember what you went to
- 4:48Speaker 2: but yeah, I just didn't watch anymore. I mean it
- 4:49Speaker 2: was kinds. They could literally do whatever they want on offense.
- 4:52Speaker 2: That's and it didn't matter what you guys said this
- 4:58Speaker 2: coming in, I did not. I think those two running
- 5:01Speaker 2: backsters amiable, the trending masks that they did, but literally
- 5:03Speaker 2: it felt like five ten yards easily before they sometimes
- 5:06Speaker 2: before they got contact most of the time.
- 5:10Speaker 4: I mean, what is this game? What is this?
- 5:12Speaker 1: Here's the other thing matter? Yeah, like what is it?
- 5:21Speaker 1: And what does it? I guess mean right now for
- 5:25Speaker 1: I'll say the season, the start, but.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Ultimately a matter because it was like it wasn't a
- 5:35Speaker 3: top thirty five team, but that's kind of their perception
- 5:39Speaker 3: of what their talent ability is. And it's like, all right,
- 5:41Speaker 3: we get another crack and another not necessarily the top
- 5:44Speaker 3: twenty five ranked opponent, but it's like, you know, after
- 5:49Speaker 3: last week's game, let's go out there, you know, see
- 5:54Speaker 3: if we can get some momentum going, and no, nothing.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I feel like it's a reality check for where the
- 6:02Speaker 2: program is at right now.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Right we're not the top, We're not even we can't
- 6:07Speaker 3: we can't even pretend to be at the top, like
- 6:10Speaker 3: compete at the top.
- 6:11Speaker 2: No, we've We've said all year. The problem is the
- 6:14Speaker 2: two lines deepens my office line and after and after UCLA,
- 6:18Speaker 2: everyone's like, Oh, it's finally looking better and and yeah,
- 6:24Speaker 2: that's that's the show is ugly head on Saturday.
- 6:28Speaker 4: I guess what how I'm how?
- 6:32Speaker 1: I think, like, are we exceeding expectations? Are better than
- 6:40Speaker 1: expectations heading into the year, And the answer to that's
- 6:43Speaker 1: definitely no.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Uh.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Now here's the word that we're going to use from
- 6:48Speaker 1: now until the end of season seven of the returnat
- 6:52Speaker 1: Glory podcast. Is progress? And is this season progress? And
- 6:58Speaker 1: are we seeing progress us with Matt Rule? And this
- 7:03Speaker 1: game I think very well shows I don't like the answer.
- 7:09Speaker 1: That's tough. Now, are we kind of beating the teams
- 7:13Speaker 1: that we're supposed to beat? Yes, I guess you could
- 7:17Speaker 1: say we're we've moved that. But this game gave no hope,
- 7:23Speaker 1: no glimpse in year three under Matt Rule that we
- 7:29Speaker 1: are even in the ballpark of your Penn States, your
- 7:35Speaker 1: Ohio States, Michigan's, et cetera.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Michigan.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I mean, we know how that game went, but it
- 7:41Speaker 1: was wasn't as ugly as this. But at the same time,
- 7:44Speaker 1: it was just a very clear evident lack of getting
- 7:48Speaker 1: beat in the trenches and upfront.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Uh.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And what's hard about it is it is year three
- 7:55Speaker 1: and I have my kind of takes on both both
- 7:58Speaker 1: sides of the ball.
- 8:01Speaker 4: You know why that is.
- 8:02Speaker 1: But like we have seen incremental improvements right in different areas.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Special teams obviously is a lot better and it's helped
- 8:13Speaker 1: us a lot this year. I mean, thank god, we
- 8:15Speaker 1: want Eckler's won us a couple of games this year.
- 8:20Speaker 1: But there's definitely been some places that have gotten worse
- 8:25Speaker 1: over the last couple of years because we have not.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I mean, whatever the reason is identified, the talent got,
- 8:32Speaker 1: the talent developed, the talent at the specifically talking about
- 8:39Speaker 1: the front lines on both ends, like those have gotten
- 8:44Speaker 1: worse over the three years that I think Rule's been here,
- 8:46Speaker 1: specifically on the defensive end. And yeah, you lose national tie,
- 8:51Speaker 1: that's expected, but we didn't. We didn't do anything to
- 8:53Speaker 1: replace that. We believed in the guys that we had,
- 8:57Speaker 1: well pretty it didn't where that's at. So I guess
- 9:02Speaker 1: from a big picture standpoint, I don't, I don't know,
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 9:07Speaker 3: It's a little becomes a lot more important picture, there's
- 9:14Speaker 3: no progress that same team was last year.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Especially if it looks like it did against Penn State,
- 9:19Speaker 2: because that's that's what I was exactly gonna try to do, agreed.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And on top of that, then you have the bowl
- 9:26Speaker 1: game too, like, well, we'll see what this how this
- 9:31Speaker 1: team rallies around rule and and and these coaching coaching
- 9:36Speaker 1: coaching staff and what they believe in for the rest
- 9:39Speaker 1: of the year.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Like it.
- 9:41Speaker 1: To me, it's pretty telling. It is pretty telling how
- 9:44Speaker 1: this season ended. And and the unfortunate part. You know,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I think my theme for the season is missed opportunities
- 9:51Speaker 1: this year because our schedule was favorable. We caught Michigan
- 9:57Speaker 1: with an interim head coach. We catch State in a
- 10:00Speaker 1: year that their coach gets fired backup quarterback. USC is
- 10:07Speaker 1: not the powerhouse at USC. They're solid, they're good, but
- 10:11Speaker 1: they're not a top ten USC team. You know that
- 10:16Speaker 1: there's opportunities that this could have been a year where, yeah,
- 10:18Speaker 1: all the talk and expectations of a playoff team, it
- 10:23Speaker 1: could have happened if things developed as they did, and
- 10:27Speaker 1: they're not, and we're now in jeopardy of getting our
- 10:32Speaker 1: win total under for the However, many straight year at Nebraska,
- 10:37Speaker 1: Like we're not favored to win at home against Iowa.
- 10:40Speaker 1: So that's the part that it's like, I.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Don't know it. It makes you question a lot of progress.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Now, I say that you lose this game by a
- 10:53Speaker 1: field goal or touchdown, you probably have a little bit
- 10:55Speaker 1: of different mindset to it. But the way we lost
- 10:59Speaker 1: it just opened up the whole can of like, oh shit,
- 11:02Speaker 1: like where are we at?
- 11:04Speaker 4: Yeah, Minnesota did the same thing. I mean, when you
- 11:08Speaker 4: when you lose like that, it just goes oh oh boy.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Yeah. If you have one of those games a year,
- 11:13Speaker 3: it's like okay, kind of tuning off week, But twice
- 11:16Speaker 3: of a year it's like, okay, that's there's something else there.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Progress wise, the record, the record shows yes, I guys,
- 11:35Speaker 2: it feels like it feels like I would almost take
- 11:39Speaker 2: I know, they went six and six last year or
- 11:41Speaker 2: seven and whatever they went. I would almost take last
- 11:44Speaker 2: year's team over this year's team, Like I felt like
- 11:50Speaker 2: there's more talent on that team and more of an
- 11:53Speaker 2: identity at least at least at least one because here
- 11:56Speaker 2: I don't know either side of the ball what their
- 11:57Speaker 2: identity is, at least outside of the ball. Last here
- 12:00Speaker 2: on defense, you knew what they were trying to do
- 12:02Speaker 2: and they could stop people.
- 12:06Speaker 3: We haven't put it all together in one year, because
- 12:09Speaker 3: our offense is definitely better this year than was last year,
- 12:11Speaker 3: and our defense last year is definitely better than it
- 12:14Speaker 3: was this year.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Yeah, so while we're making steps potentially in certain areas,
- 12:19Speaker 1: other areas are falling off. And that was a concern
- 12:22Speaker 1: going into the year, losing John Butler or not John Butler,
- 12:25Speaker 1: Tony White to John Butler, like people wouldn't talk about
- 12:30Speaker 1: it enough, Like I thought Tony White was a damn
- 12:32Speaker 1: good defensive coach, and that all happened. Whatever happened, We
- 12:37Speaker 1: don't know what really would happened, and players left, and
- 12:41Speaker 1: here's where we sit. So okay, Nak, you mentioned the
- 12:44Speaker 1: word identity. So I really like what we talked about
- 12:49Speaker 1: the defense a little bit and how poor of a
- 12:53Speaker 1: job they did.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Here's here is my.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Concern with the defense, or I'm not a concern like problem.
- 13:00Speaker 1: What I did not understand from that game. We knew
- 13:05Speaker 1: like we knew they were going to stop the run,
- 13:08Speaker 1: and we said we were gonna stop the run like
- 13:10Speaker 1: in the press conference. And yet, yeah, there's part I do, yeah,
- 13:17Speaker 1: lack of players, but I will.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Was watching a lot.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I don't want to go back and watch it, but
- 13:25Speaker 1: we had two high safeties for a shit a lot
- 13:28Speaker 1: of that game on third and two's, we had no
- 13:32Speaker 1: like six guys in the box.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Like I was. I was so puzzled half the time
- 13:38Speaker 4: on what, like what are we doing? And I get it,
- 13:41Speaker 4: like I totally get it.
- 13:42Speaker 1: A couple of times maybe early on that they ran
- 13:46Speaker 1: play action and they had guys wide open twenty yards
- 13:50Speaker 1: down the field. Maybe that put a little bit of
- 13:52Speaker 1: like hesitation, But gosh, I thought we maybe have learned
- 13:56Speaker 1: something throughout the year of staying aggressive and not taking
- 14:04Speaker 1: the rains off, which I don't even know what rains
- 14:07Speaker 1: were on to begin with.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Like I I just I could not believe.
- 14:13Speaker 1: How I guess lack of effort we had of trying
- 14:17Speaker 1: to stop the run. Now granted their first player, first drive,
- 14:21Speaker 1: when we saw them go down and score ninety nine
- 14:23Speaker 1: yeard drive, it was okay, But.
- 14:28Speaker 4: I don't know, I just I just.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Thought that we didn't It didn't look like we tried
- 14:32Speaker 1: to stop the run like we didn't. We didn't force
- 14:34Speaker 1: him to throw the ball through for twelve or thirteen
- 14:37Speaker 1: times whatever. He was like, we didn't to throw the
- 14:39Speaker 1: ball that I was I that to me, it just
- 14:45Speaker 1: doesn't make.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Sense at all, like I six yards of carry like
- 14:53Speaker 3: not not good enough?
- 14:55Speaker 2: No, No, it's going game. Which when I went down
- 15:02Speaker 2: defensive lilies, no matter what they do the passing is
- 15:05Speaker 2: you got to just stick to stopping that run, which
- 15:08Speaker 2: I think is kind of what we say going into
- 15:10Speaker 2: the game.
- 15:10Speaker 4: You can't.
- 15:11Speaker 2: You can't be scared about a couple of twenty hours
- 15:12Speaker 2: passes and you can really back off on stacking that box.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 15:20Speaker 4: I just don't get it.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I did I I I It'd be different if it
- 15:26Speaker 1: showed that we were very clearly trying to And I'm
- 15:30Speaker 1: sure the coaching have said, well we tried to stop the run.
- 15:32Speaker 4: That was our goal. Well try it more? Do more?
- 15:35Speaker 4: Like or do we not know?
- 15:36Speaker 3: Do we not?
- 15:37Speaker 4: I'm not a defensive football coordinator. I don't know. We're
- 15:40Speaker 4: not getting paid the big bucks. Do we not know
- 15:42Speaker 4: how to? Like, you can't. You can't tell me that
- 15:45Speaker 4: we don't have enough guys to.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Overload the inside and and I guess it wasn't just
- 15:53Speaker 1: the inside it they ran that zone toss over and
- 15:57Speaker 1: over and over, but may and like I we didn't
- 16:01Speaker 1: play much man coverage on the outside. From what I
- 16:03Speaker 1: could tell, we played a lot of zone.
- 16:08Speaker 4: I was.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I was.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I was just baffled by the lack of scheme I
- 16:13Speaker 1: guess on the defensive side and rules. In the post game,
- 16:16Speaker 1: we were blitz and blitz and blitzen and you have
- 16:18Speaker 1: I mean kind of but not really really.
- 16:21Speaker 3: If it were, it wasn't noticeable.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I didn't notice that at all. And there's so I
- 16:30Speaker 2: think we're blitzing.
- 16:31Speaker 3: With the blitzing.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Where was the pressure on Grunsmyer. He didn't have any
- 16:33Speaker 2: pressure at all.
- 16:35Speaker 4: It was shitting through twelve times.
- 16:36Speaker 1: It wasn't like it wasn't like they were passing the
- 16:40Speaker 1: ball like it. I'm not talking about him getting pressure.
- 16:43Speaker 1: He didn't have to have any pressure because he didn't
- 16:45Speaker 1: throw the ball. They didn't have to.
- 16:47Speaker 4: It was just like it was.
- 16:48Speaker 1: It was literally almost a carbon copy of their Michigan
- 16:51Speaker 1: State game the week before that, and probably even better,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I mean better than that, because our defense played better.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Like they just did anything they wanted to they could do,
- 17:03Speaker 1: and we had zero resistance from it. And I think
- 17:09Speaker 1: a lot of that is due to we just on
- 17:11Speaker 1: the offensive side too. We just don't have a playmaker
- 17:16Speaker 1: that we have to scheme around anywhere. Like we don't
- 17:19Speaker 1: have a guy on the defensive side that we got
- 17:21Speaker 1: to go, shit, we get to run away from him
- 17:24Speaker 1: because he's good, or hey, we can't really throw at
- 17:27Speaker 1: him because he's good. And I maybe thought that with Sierr, right,
- 17:31Speaker 1: but again, and we played zone.
- 17:34Speaker 4: I don't know, so we don't.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Have that so often just come into the game and
- 17:37Speaker 1: they go, well, we're just gonna do what we do
- 17:40Speaker 1: because whatever we do, we're gonna be able just to
- 17:42Speaker 1: kick their ass at it.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Yep, that's pretty much what happened.
- 17:46Speaker 1: And it was yeah, I mean like yeah, like time
- 17:52Speaker 1: possession was pretty close, but.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Because we know we wanted to control the clock, but
- 18:00Speaker 3: we did not. They were in a thirty nine times
- 18:04Speaker 3: average six yards to carry four touchdowns. That's rough. That
- 18:12Speaker 3: counts tackles for losses and sacks and everything. That's just
- 18:15Speaker 3: straight up uninterested numbers.
- 18:20Speaker 4: If Penn State was gonna score over thirty, I would
- 18:22Speaker 4: have said we had a one percent chance of winning
- 18:25Speaker 4: the game. I mean that just it it.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Obviously we talked and coaches talk about complimentary football constantly,
- 18:35Speaker 1: and if one side of the ball can't do their job,
- 18:40Speaker 1: then you don't have a very good chance of winning.
- 18:41Speaker 4: The game, no matter who you're playing.
- 18:44Speaker 1: And that again was very clear from a defensive side
- 18:47Speaker 1: that which are we surprised, I mean, a rush defense
- 18:53Speaker 1: has been.
- 18:55Speaker 4: The worst thing.
- 18:56Speaker 3: We're surprised at how poorly game plan looked. It wasn't
- 18:59Speaker 3: even that we were getting be it's just that it
- 19:00Speaker 3: didn't look like we did any sort of adjustment or
- 19:03Speaker 3: anything to do stop it. We didn't slow them. We
- 19:06Speaker 3: didn't slow their pace at all throughout the game. Yes, bingo,
- 19:10Speaker 3: And if anything, it got worse as a game.
- 19:12Speaker 1: That going back to the beginning of questioning progress and
- 19:16Speaker 1: this program and this coaching staff for the future, that's
- 19:19Speaker 1: the part right there that you just you're just confused
- 19:25Speaker 1: as to why in the hell did we Why was that?
- 19:28Speaker 1: Or it's a game plan, it was the it's the
- 19:32Speaker 1: play calling, it's the strategy, and and we we we
- 19:35Speaker 1: don't complain and bitch about the play calling much on
- 19:37Speaker 1: here because we know, you know, the coaches know, like
- 19:43Speaker 1: what they're singing practice and all that. Well, then yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 1: now you start to question, well, do they know like
- 19:50Speaker 1: do they actually know how to adjust and and and
- 19:54Speaker 1: strategize against an opposing team's offense or defense? And the
- 19:58Speaker 1: answer to that for this game, no, clearly not. And
- 20:02Speaker 1: yeah you don't have the players, but there's not there's
- 20:04Speaker 1: nothing else that you know how to do to just.
- 20:08Speaker 3: That.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that was the on that side of the ball, boy.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Like, uh, to compare their I mean we talked about
- 20:19Speaker 3: the running yards, but passing yards, they had, you know,
- 20:22Speaker 3: twelve attempts for one hundred one yards and we had
- 20:25Speaker 3: thirty seven attempts for one hundred and eighty seven. So
- 20:29Speaker 3: there you go.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Like how they beat us, which is how we beat
- 20:35Speaker 1: UCLA running the.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Ball then taking the shots downfield and the defense because
- 20:40Speaker 3: it's to stopping the ruin.
- 20:42Speaker 4: It was.
- 20:42Speaker 1: It was a It was a masterpiece of executing an
- 20:46Speaker 1: offensive game planner identity from Penn State side.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean their offensive gamepens Corner had the easiest
- 21:01Speaker 2: game like long wise I've ever seen. All gotta call
- 21:04Speaker 2: is handed off. They are going to stop us like
- 21:07Speaker 2: nothing nothing special at all about which is what Iowa
- 21:10Speaker 2: does every year. But but yeah, they just at least
- 21:16Speaker 2: at least they knew coming into the game what they
- 21:19Speaker 2: want to do, and yeah, like you said, execute.
- 21:22Speaker 3: It based off this game, you'd be shocked to find
- 21:25Speaker 3: out this team lost six games this year.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, And I.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Will say they do look like you can tell that
- 21:31Speaker 3: they spiraled addle of the year. But I mean they
- 21:33Speaker 3: had like a lot of like fast, big seniors on
- 21:36Speaker 3: defense and an offense often the win was really good.
- 21:41Speaker 3: So but yeah, if you watch this game, you're like, oh, yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 3: this seems a national you know, they're they're they're up there.
- 21:48Speaker 3: But no, they lost six games this year.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Yeah, and that is that.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I'm not going to call it the excuse everybody's making,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but yeah, we started off saying they have talent, and
- 21:59Speaker 1: yeah they did. Like we knew they still have the
- 22:03Speaker 1: guys out there that the same people besides their starting
- 22:07Speaker 1: quarterback that were national title contenders to start the year
- 22:12Speaker 1: from a lot of people's preseason predictions.
- 22:16Speaker 4: So like we knew that, but then they still lost
- 22:21Speaker 4: to I mean, they were zero to six guys in
- 22:24Speaker 4: their conference play two weeks ago.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Like it, it's not like other teams haven't found a
- 22:34Speaker 1: way to beat them. They clearly have gotten beat by
- 22:38Speaker 1: mediocre to below mediocre teams. And yes, maybe they're rallying
- 22:44Speaker 1: behind Michigan State in the Michigan State game and as
- 22:48Speaker 1: a rallying behind their interim head coach.
- 22:51Speaker 4: That usually happens a lot of times.
- 22:53Speaker 3: But it's senior night. They had like eight seniors of
- 22:56Speaker 3: the sturdy on defense. You know, like there's a little
- 22:58Speaker 3: extra juice there.
- 22:58Speaker 4: But all is part of it.
- 23:01Speaker 1: But it's not like this team is this unbeatable or
- 23:05Speaker 1: on eight like we this was their best. This was
- 23:07Speaker 1: their most dominant win easily this year, as far as
- 23:11Speaker 1: kicking the crap out of somebody and putting all the
- 23:14Speaker 1: pieces together, and it came against us.
- 23:17Speaker 4: So that that's that, Like, that's what happened.
- 23:22Speaker 3: All right, Let's talk offense. I'm I were talking about
- 23:24Speaker 3: how bad our defense played. Let's about.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Well this is this might be even better conversation right here.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it is not good.
- 23:37Speaker 1: And from the get go, I go into play calling
- 23:43Speaker 1: or what we're trying to do. We obviously don't have
- 23:46Speaker 1: Dylan Royola. We have TJ Latiz. What's TJ's what we thought?
- 23:51Speaker 1: What's his strength? The ball supposed to be running the ball,
- 23:55Speaker 1: and I don't know that he ran until midway the
- 24:00Speaker 1: second quarter.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was after the first well, I
- 24:04Speaker 3: don't remember when I texted you, Like, I think it
- 24:06Speaker 3: was after the first half.
- 24:08Speaker 4: It might have been the first half.
- 24:09Speaker 3: I don't know, it might have been the second quarter.
- 24:11Speaker 1: But he no, no designed runs, no scrambles like he
- 24:19Speaker 1: just looked like an average quarterback and we had no
- 24:24Speaker 1: answer for I get it. We ran the ball to Emmett,
- 24:27Speaker 1: which the first drive, you're going, okay, okay, broke a
- 24:31Speaker 1: big run. We talked about getting stopped on fourth down short,
- 24:36Speaker 1: and then after that it just kind of fell apart.
- 24:44Speaker 1: I wouldn't say TJ played horrible. No, he's a Yeah,
- 24:50Speaker 1: he's a He played like a freshman on the road
- 24:54Speaker 1: at Penn State.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Like he.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I don't know, he just I where I'm maybe am
- 25:05Speaker 1: wrong on him. Maybe he's not a good of the runners.
- 25:08Speaker 4: I thought he was.
- 25:09Speaker 3: I the fact that I had that same thought because
- 25:11Speaker 3: the first two third downs on our opening drive, second drive,
- 25:16Speaker 3: Heiner Carberg was in on three or maybe three and
- 25:20Speaker 3: three and two or it was third and two, and
- 25:22Speaker 3: we brought.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Him him under center. Yeah, which was that was odd
- 25:25Speaker 4: in itself.
- 25:26Speaker 2: That fourth and one wasn't he wasn't the quarterback under center?
- 25:29Speaker 4: Yeah? No, the fourth and one they brought TJ back
- 25:32Speaker 4: in for that. I correct what I what? I I don't.
- 25:35Speaker 4: I don't know what that was. I have no idea, like,
- 25:38Speaker 4: no idea, what what I guess.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I'm just baffled at again talking about play calling and
- 25:45Speaker 1: steam and whatever with Holgerson. I'm just confused. Like we
- 25:49Speaker 1: we tried to run after a by a week. To
- 25:52Speaker 1: keep this in mind, we tried to basically run Dylan
- 25:55Speaker 1: Roola's offense.
- 25:56Speaker 2: With t J. Latiff like, which is not what they
- 25:58Speaker 2: did at U c l A at all. No, but
- 26:02Speaker 2: now working at U c l A.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Yeah, now, I mean not as much. It just it
- 26:07Speaker 4: didn't it did.
- 26:08Speaker 1: We didn't just didn't look like we had any anything
- 26:11Speaker 1: like anything different like coming off a byeway.
- 26:13Speaker 4: It was just like, here's what we're gonna do.
- 26:16Speaker 1: And this opens up to me a bigger can of
- 26:19Speaker 1: worms with the offense of what the hell do we
- 26:23Speaker 1: want to do? What Dack said the word identity earlier,
- 26:26Speaker 1: like what what what do Matt rule?
- 26:29Speaker 4: What do you want to do on offense?
- 26:31Speaker 1: And it's sad that we're asking that in year three
- 26:33Speaker 1: because we did the same thing with Frost and look
- 26:37Speaker 1: at where we've gone and what what has happened right
- 26:41Speaker 1: over the last three years and with our quarterbacks. Jeff
- 26:45Speaker 1: Simms comes in and maybe that's all you can get
- 26:49Speaker 1: at the time.
- 26:49Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Then with that you have all this Heine Harbord mixing
- 26:58Speaker 1: there too. Well, then you flip and you bring in
- 27:00Speaker 1: Dylan Royola, but you already have t J. The Tief
- 27:03Speaker 1: is a recruit who's not like Dylan Royl. So now
- 27:05Speaker 1: Dylan comes in and now it's like, oh, he's a
- 27:08Speaker 1: five star, Like what do we do with them?
- 27:09Speaker 4: Okay, well we might have to do this. We tried this.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Here's who we're bringing in again, these receivers. Well then
- 27:16Speaker 4: he gets hurt.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Now we're back to t J the t Whoo's more
- 27:19Speaker 1: kind of like Jeff Simms like, what what are we?
- 27:24Speaker 1: What on top of that, Danny Kaalon is our other
- 27:27Speaker 1: quarterback recrew Trey Taylor, Like all these guys, what are
- 27:31Speaker 1: we what are we trying to work towards here as
- 27:33Speaker 1: an offense? What are we what are we filling in
- 27:37Speaker 1: from a peace standpoint? Because I do think like again,
- 27:40Speaker 1: not t He's not a great passer. We knew that
- 27:45Speaker 1: he's nowhere near Dylan, but like what kind of offense
- 27:52Speaker 1: are we trying to run?
- 27:54Speaker 4: I will say with Dylan, but then with him, like
- 27:56Speaker 4: what are we trying to do? What are we trying
- 27:57Speaker 4: to accomplish? That?
- 28:00Speaker 1: That was my big takeaway was the identity question, which
- 28:03Speaker 1: we haven't talked about much, like what what what's the
- 28:06Speaker 1: identity with what we're trying to do?
- 28:08Speaker 4: I don't know, I don't.
- 28:09Speaker 3: I think the identity was run the ball first, and
- 28:12Speaker 3: the quickly stopped working, and then we didn't have the
- 28:15Speaker 3: backup plan, which I don't know why it wasn't TJ running.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Why I don't know why TJ didn't run? Tell me
- 28:25Speaker 3: how great of a runner he is? And it's like.
- 28:28Speaker 1: With you like that, Like I think obviously Austin and
- 28:32Speaker 1: I have talked to we've had the Dylan Royola and
- 28:34Speaker 1: t J Latif debate, Like two things we didn't know
- 28:37Speaker 1: we didn't know about Latif? Well, the biggest one was
- 28:40Speaker 1: can he throw the ball? He can't, and I would
- 28:43Speaker 1: I will say like from an X he's he's he's
- 28:47Speaker 1: not as good as Dylan.
- 28:48Speaker 3: No, but he did a couple of times.
- 28:50Speaker 4: But he's he he made some throws like he also
- 28:53Speaker 4: had some.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Like so yeah, but he he did about like what
- 28:59Speaker 1: I and I thought, you know what, I think it's
- 29:01Speaker 1: serviceable enough like that to me is okay. And the
- 29:05Speaker 1: part that I was like, oh shit, like I thought
- 29:07Speaker 1: he was a lot better runner, And don't tell me
- 29:11Speaker 1: that Penn State like game plan completely around him running
- 29:15Speaker 1: the ball. He just he he when he even when
- 29:19Speaker 1: he looked running, he didn't look great. And here's here's
- 29:22Speaker 1: here's part of the here's another little thing to throw
- 29:24Speaker 1: in there. Rules it after the game about TJ like
- 29:29Speaker 1: taking a couple of shots and how he doesn't want
- 29:31Speaker 1: to take a couple of those shots. I still think this,
- 29:33Speaker 1: damn it say same thing with Dylan. They are so
- 29:36Speaker 1: scared about getting a quarterback hurt that they don't want
- 29:40Speaker 1: like even Dylan, because some of our better plays is
- 29:44Speaker 1: rolling TJ out and getting him in space, not I
- 29:46Speaker 1: mean not even really to have the option to run,
- 29:49Speaker 1: help him see the field better, get him rolling outside.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Like give the receivers more time to get open.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah, like it, that's to me, that's again scheming and
- 29:57Speaker 1: play calling. We don't do that with Dylan. I think
- 30:01Speaker 1: that I think every they're so scared of getting their
- 30:04Speaker 1: quarterbacks hurt in some whether they admit it to it
- 30:07Speaker 1: or not, subconsciously, it's what they think. And that's just
- 30:11Speaker 1: I get it. Sliding versus versus taking a hit. Yes,
- 30:14Speaker 1: that's one thing. But I think we we are play
- 30:17Speaker 1: calling that's in our minds. Don't get don't get these
- 30:21Speaker 1: guys hurt. Well ship, You're you're getting hurt of half
- 30:24Speaker 1: of your potential playbook if you start doing that, especially
- 30:28Speaker 1: with the running quarterback.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't. I don't remember a single read
- 30:35Speaker 2: option called at all, now got you guys might think
- 30:39Speaker 2: of a couple bye, I don't remember sooner read option. No, No,
- 30:44Speaker 2: it's a couple of rollouts. Other than that, it's felt like,
- 30:49Speaker 2: like you've been saying, Stams Holgers has been here. I
- 30:53Speaker 2: feel like we have not been able to see an
- 30:55Speaker 2: identity of what he wants to do.
- 30:57Speaker 3: No, I feel like the identity I think it is run.
- 31:00Speaker 3: We've seen that, but when it doesn't work, we haven't
- 31:03Speaker 3: been able to adjust.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Here's here's I will say, sorry, awesome, that wasn't nice
- 31:08Speaker 1: identity coming into the year though. That's that's the problem.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Like he we tried to pass it a lot more,
- 31:16Speaker 1: or at least show it on film until we realized,
- 31:19Speaker 1: oh shit, we have Emma Johnson and we can run
- 31:21Speaker 1: like That's that to me is the problem.
- 31:23Speaker 4: I get coaches adjust.
- 31:26Speaker 1: I don't think he has when we say I don't
- 31:28Speaker 1: think he has an exact this is what he's called
- 31:32Speaker 1: offense for a lot of different teams, right, this is
- 31:37Speaker 1: exactly what I want to do. I don't know that
- 31:39Speaker 1: he knows that anymore. And I think a lot of
- 31:41Speaker 1: that is the goes back to the program of playing
- 31:45Speaker 1: musical chairs with the type of players that we're recruiting,
- 31:49Speaker 1: and and Dylan throws a big aggrention to that, but
- 31:53Speaker 1: we're just playing like, well we.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Got this, let's do this. Well, we got this, Well.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Now how about you decide what you want to do
- 31:59Speaker 1: and then get the players to do that in that
- 32:02Speaker 1: way when you're backup, when you're starting quarterback? Does get
- 32:04Speaker 1: hurt if not, like, oh shit, we don't have a
- 32:09Speaker 1: system for what we're trying to do. I just think
- 32:12Speaker 1: it's all big jumbled game of musical chairs right now
- 32:17Speaker 1: with players.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, it's just I don't know. It's frustrating, especially
- 32:28Speaker 3: so and then okay, so we're not running the ball.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Well we're not gonna run the ball with TJ, but
- 32:34Speaker 3: we're still not taking shots out field. Ye, It's like, okay,
- 32:38Speaker 3: we're down. We are down twenty seven. We have to
- 32:43Speaker 3: start moving the ball. And I mean we still had
- 32:45Speaker 3: what of our to see to do it of our
- 32:48Speaker 3: seventeen completed passes or sorry, we had twenty one completed passes.
- 32:52Speaker 3: If we subtract our four largest passes, seventeen of our
- 32:56Speaker 3: twenty one completed passes, where it was for a total
- 32:58Speaker 3: of like ninety seven yarns, like, that's not good enough
- 33:02Speaker 3: when you're down, when you're trailing, And I mean part
- 33:05Speaker 3: of that's probably you're just trying to keep TJ protected
- 33:07Speaker 3: and he's not having a lot of time. But I mean,
- 33:09Speaker 3: Evid Johnson let the team in catches, which means you're
- 33:11Speaker 3: you're just dumping it out because you are either aren't
- 33:15Speaker 3: reading it downfield or you're under pressure.
- 33:19Speaker 4: And here's the thing, it's not like we were part
- 33:23Speaker 4: of it.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Maybe was because of TJ being our quarterback, but it's
- 33:27Speaker 1: not like we were doing a whole lot of that
- 33:28Speaker 1: with Dylan either, Like we for whatever reason, we do
- 33:33Speaker 1: not stretch defenses with the vertical pad against not a
- 33:39Speaker 1: and I get it. Where does that stem.
- 33:42Speaker 3: To the offensive line not giving your quarterback no time.
- 33:45Speaker 2: You need time?
- 33:46Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 33:46Speaker 1: So I got at least, if we learned anything this year,
- 33:50Speaker 1: I hope that that's the takeaway that our offensive line
- 33:54Speaker 1: was not good this year.
- 33:55Speaker 4: I hope.
- 33:57Speaker 1: If there's any potential for this coaching staff, we better
- 34:01Speaker 1: go out and really and I don't you want to
- 34:05Speaker 1: talk about show me mode going into next year.
- 34:08Speaker 4: I don't. I'm not going to go any hype on.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Any players anything outside of offensive linemen until we see
- 34:16Speaker 1: that we have an when I say, see like in
- 34:20Speaker 1: game two early next year, that our offensive line is
- 34:22Speaker 1: better because we heard and you know what Rockless Spindler
- 34:25Speaker 1: has been I think very solid. Hell, we haven't talked
- 34:28Speaker 1: about him, so clearly he's he's doing a dec You don't.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Talk offensive lineman. That's that's the best best thing for you.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Don't mention their name.
- 34:37Speaker 1: We're talking about our tackles who have been just horrific, terrible, absolutely,
- 34:42Speaker 1: and we've had four guys play those four that two
- 34:46Speaker 1: two tackles spots, maybe more than that.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Like that that that has.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Been just.
- 34:54Speaker 4: Terrible. So that needs to be that. I hope that
- 34:58Speaker 4: we learned that. I hope.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Before we love, I could feel that the energy shifted
- 35:05Speaker 3: away to We're gonna do some positive vibes with the
- 35:08Speaker 3: volleyball and basketball. But I do want Dak to defend
- 35:12Speaker 3: a text that he did said that he said t J.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Latif is for sure better than Dylan Rola in a
- 35:19Speaker 3: game of which we scored our first offensive touchdown at
- 35:21Speaker 3: the end of the third quarter. I want I want
- 35:24Speaker 3: to hear. I want to hear what the what the
- 35:26Speaker 3: thought process was better?
- 35:29Speaker 2: I I don't think there's any difference in den Rollo
- 35:32Speaker 2: plays this game at all. Like I think it could
- 35:35Speaker 2: have went worse.
- 35:37Speaker 3: How could it have been worse?
- 35:40Speaker 2: He can't he can't move.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I think he about how could the game of commerce,
- 35:44Speaker 1: that's what I would say.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Scored zero. I don't know. I don't know how the
- 35:51Speaker 2: quarterback play there. That's That's what I'm saying. Now, Okay,
- 36:00Speaker 2: I that might've been a little now you like talking
- 36:03Speaker 2: right there. He's not. He's not for sure better than
- 36:05Speaker 2: Dean Royola. He's I think for this team. Still, he
- 36:14Speaker 2: is the better quarterback option for the Huskers just because
- 36:16Speaker 2: of how bad the online is and yeah, I now
- 36:25Speaker 2: now coming out of that game, it's like it's like,
- 36:27Speaker 2: would what Dealing have changed anything on offensive wise? I
- 36:34Speaker 2: I just don't think so. I can't.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I'm with you for this game. Isolate this game out.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I don't think it would have mattered. No, I also
- 36:43Speaker 1: don't think that ore we mentioned our game plan, our strategy,
- 36:49Speaker 1: it looked like we just took Dealing out and plugged
- 36:50Speaker 1: TJ in and said, all right, run our offense. And yeah,
- 36:55Speaker 1: that's that that it went about like you expect it
- 36:58Speaker 1: to when when you do that, Yeah, I don't know.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Like for the good good news is DAK We're not
- 37:05Speaker 4: gonna have to worry about it.
- 37:06Speaker 1: If we have two games left right and yeah, going
- 37:09Speaker 1: into next year, I mean, who knows who the hell
- 37:12Speaker 1: knows what the trains reportal is gonna bring.
- 37:16Speaker 4: That's a whole nother conversation.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Here's where my head's at, Like I'm not I'm not
- 37:22Speaker 1: jumping on either person's train, like I think, Yeah, I
- 37:26Speaker 1: think both quarterbacks right now could be our starting quarterback
- 37:33Speaker 1: next year. My biggest thing is, can we build a
- 37:35Speaker 1: freaking identity? While offensive line starts with that? Can we
- 37:38Speaker 1: build something around them that makes sense going into next year,
- 37:43Speaker 1: and I don't care what that is. They probably look
- 37:45Speaker 1: a little bit differently, but start with the offensive line,
- 37:50Speaker 1: I don't I still don't think that we probably keep
- 37:52Speaker 1: both of them here. Maybe we can now maybe t J.
- 37:55Speaker 1: I don't know, Maybe maybe he will stay, But can
- 37:59Speaker 1: we build something around either one? Because I'm not sold
- 38:03Speaker 1: on I'm not sold on TJ. He still has the
- 38:05Speaker 1: opportunity to do that. He's the one that can. We
- 38:07Speaker 1: know what Dylan's got and where he's at with his
- 38:09Speaker 1: injury and everything. Like the TG, I guess has a
- 38:14Speaker 1: little bit to prove if if and that can change
- 38:18Speaker 1: that narrative to me. But for right now, like I,
- 38:20Speaker 1: I'm not gonna push for either. I am gonna push
- 38:22Speaker 1: for Dylan to be lose weight and be more mobile
- 38:24Speaker 1: next year because I still think that adds a big
- 38:27Speaker 1: element to your offense. Now, whether he does it or not,
- 38:29Speaker 1: probably not, So you got to factor that into play too.
- 38:34Speaker 1: But I know TJ did not come in and say Nope, Dylan,
- 38:39Speaker 1: see I get out of here like that. That was
- 38:40Speaker 1: not the performance that did that for me and especially
- 38:44Speaker 1: or I thought he's gonna be a better runner than
- 38:47Speaker 1: he was, whether that be the play calling factor into that.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I mean that regardless of whether TJ can run or not,
- 38:56Speaker 1: we didn't run him. So like, if we're not gonna
- 38:58Speaker 1: let him run, then then what's the point.
- 39:01Speaker 3: And why aren't we running him? Why are we bringing
- 39:03Speaker 3: Heinrich Harberg in on thirty short?
- 39:06Speaker 4: Yeah, we can stay on that.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Like, here's one thing that I don't understand with rules
- 39:13Speaker 1: beliefs in like our short yardage since he's been here
- 39:17Speaker 1: has been horrible. Mm hmm, Like I don't know if
- 39:21Speaker 1: there was, Like Heinrich's come in obviously do the the
- 39:23Speaker 1: Heini push early in the year, A couple of teams
- 39:27Speaker 1: stop that, including Akron, So maybe like we can't do that?
- 39:32Speaker 4: Are we still trying to.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Like like fake that we're doing the Heiny pushes? At
- 39:36Speaker 1: why Heinrich's coming in? Under like that is at the motive?
- 39:41Speaker 1: I don't like to me, that seems silly because.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Though like why why would you even try to fake that?
- 39:46Speaker 1: Like why no, Dak you wanted them to do that
- 39:49Speaker 1: the Toush push, Like you said that, we I don't
- 39:51Speaker 1: I don't strike because we've we've shown that doesn't work either.
- 39:57Speaker 4: Obviously often like we are.
- 39:58Speaker 1: It's just so short yardage has been bad.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Offensive line, but the defense knows that they can sell
- 40:07Speaker 3: out for a short yardage stop and we don't have
- 40:09Speaker 3: an offensive line I can prevent that. You're just gonna
- 40:12Speaker 3: have that issue.
- 40:14Speaker 4: I completely agree.
- 40:15Speaker 1: And like I said, God, you hope the coaching staff
- 40:18Speaker 1: takes that away. Here's the other and then last, this
- 40:21Speaker 1: is my last football thought. Here's and this is basketball
- 40:26Speaker 1: to a tee. Here's what And I get you have
- 40:30Speaker 1: to play a little bit nice with the media when
- 40:34Speaker 1: you're talking about your players.
- 40:35Speaker 4: You do, you have to do it, but man, I
- 40:39Speaker 4: don't want to. I don't.
- 40:40Speaker 1: And this is where when it comes to rule talking
- 40:42Speaker 1: his ear off and and opening up everything. I want
- 40:45Speaker 1: his press conference to be like the Penn State one,
- 40:47Speaker 1: where are six seven minutes long and he's out of there,
- 40:51Speaker 1: like he talks so much, and when he talks, all
- 40:55Speaker 1: of a sudden, our offensive line, No, our offensive line
- 40:57Speaker 1: is great. Here's all of our players, our defensive line,
- 40:59Speaker 1: they're gonna be animals back there. And but like, if
- 41:04Speaker 1: you say that, you better be right, because now you
- 41:07Speaker 1: look like a fool. Okay, so I get talking your
- 41:10Speaker 1: players up. I'm not saying he has to go on
- 41:13Speaker 1: there and say our offensive line shit, and these guys
- 41:15Speaker 1: suck and they need to be better.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Like I'm not saying that, but.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Don't just blurb and talk to talk when you haven't
- 41:22Speaker 1: shown or proven anything. And that's what he does, like
- 41:27Speaker 1: and then when you get be beat by this, you
- 41:28Speaker 1: look like a fool. And he's probably said, I don't
- 41:30Speaker 1: care if I look like a fool. Well, guess what
- 41:33Speaker 1: if your players aren't playing hard enough because they think
- 41:36Speaker 1: they're okay and they they when they're not very good,
- 41:40Speaker 1: or you can't you look like you can't identify the problem,
- 41:45Speaker 1: it's not gonna help your job.
- 41:46Speaker 4: Sorry, Like and is it not?
- 41:49Speaker 3: So? All right? Let's talk something more positive.
- 41:56Speaker 1: You're talking about this ranked, potentially ranked and Abraska basketball team.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Yes, football, we'll play it. We'll talk Iowa on.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Wednesday, But basketball school right?
- 42:09Speaker 3: Schools first?
- 42:12Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 42:13Speaker 3: Yet?
- 42:14Speaker 2: Are you guys finally ready to hop on the train?
- 42:16Speaker 2: I've been all year?
- 42:18Speaker 3: Evan, right there, I'm with you. I just didn't want
- 42:21Speaker 3: to make them. I mean I probably would have taken
- 42:23Speaker 3: the vet as well, but you are the one that
- 42:25Speaker 3: baited in to do it. With Hunter, I think we
- 42:28Speaker 3: can win a tournament game this year. I right got
- 42:31Speaker 3: my final four to six for Indianapolis. That's not true, but.
- 42:35Speaker 2: I think I think someone else is hopping on the train.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I just it just doesn't want to admit it.
- 42:39Speaker 4: I'm not yet, I'm not. I'm not. So here's here's
- 42:42Speaker 4: where the team ranking side. I like looking at that
- 42:46Speaker 4: a lot.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I'm looking at it's at got a bunch of analytics,
- 42:49Speaker 1: and I'm sure it is computer generated, and they do
- 42:54Speaker 1: like odds for everything, percentage chances for everything. Right now,
- 42:59Speaker 1: they have Nebraska at I believe it was like sixty
- 43:03Speaker 1: eight percent chance to make the tournament and like a
- 43:05Speaker 1: thirty like thirty four percent chance to make the round
- 43:08Speaker 1: of thirty two, which would mean winning their first game.
- 43:11Speaker 4: So we're not quite a fifty to fifty according to
- 43:13Speaker 4: that computer model.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Pretty good though, but.
- 43:15Speaker 4: It's pretty damn good.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Pretty close. Uh, the team still has not here here. Okay,
- 43:24Speaker 1: I guess we should say.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Okay, we beat New Mexico, we beat k State in
- 43:29Speaker 3: Kansas City, we won whatever the whatever the freaking.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Was, the Hall of Fame Classic.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't like that. There's trophies for those things,
- 43:37Speaker 3: but whatever.
- 43:39Speaker 1: And we're six and zero now most likely going to
- 43:42Speaker 1: be eight to zero heading into the Creighton game. With
- 43:46Speaker 1: this team, the really good takeaway for me that helped
- 43:52Speaker 1: believe that we could win a tournament game is we
- 43:56Speaker 1: didn't shoot at great against k State, we still scored
- 44:00Speaker 1: eighty six yep and won the game.
- 44:05Speaker 4: In Kansas State could be a tournament team. I mean,
- 44:09Speaker 4: I think they probably.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Came into the game as the best offense in the
- 44:12Speaker 3: country shooting like forty.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Three yep, Like they have another player average in the
- 44:21Speaker 1: upper twenties. Like that to me is like, Okay, we
- 44:26Speaker 1: still found a way to win that game. And so
- 44:30Speaker 1: far our most hostile environment that we played in, I mean,
- 44:35Speaker 1: it was still pretty fifty to fifty in Kansas City,
- 44:39Speaker 1: but we stepped up to the challenge and found a
- 44:44Speaker 1: way to win that game. And it wasn't pretty like
- 44:46Speaker 1: it all the whole game. Like, we got up early,
- 44:48Speaker 1: which helped the ton Kansas State battled back and we
- 44:54Speaker 1: ended up pulling it out in the end. Our team
- 44:59Speaker 1: right now we're still just I still think we're just
- 45:02Speaker 1: very white.
- 45:04Speaker 3: It's crazy we have one black player who plays irritation.
- 45:08Speaker 3: It is insane.
- 45:09Speaker 1: I just I that still just concerns me from an
- 45:13Speaker 1: athleticism standpoint, but hey, if you can, I mean when
- 45:16Speaker 1: you can, when you can win games that way, it's okay.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Like obviously skin color does not matter if you can win.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Games, well, skin color doesn't matter.
- 45:25Speaker 4: Ever, let's just ever, it doesn't matter before basketball. We're
- 45:30Speaker 4: canceled in basketball.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Typically when you see a bunch of white guys, you
- 45:36Speaker 1: think it slower.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Less, less athleticism and can shoot, can shoot, and that kind.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Of is what we have, sneaky, quick, shifty.
- 45:48Speaker 1: So I am not there that we're gonna want to
- 45:55Speaker 1: turn my game this year yet, but I'm very, very
- 45:59Speaker 1: excited for the year given how it started, and we
- 46:04Speaker 1: have a chance to potentially go undefeated a non conference play,
- 46:07Speaker 1: which nobody thought that was gonna happen, well, creating at home,
- 46:14Speaker 1: where I think will be pretty close to being favored,
- 46:18Speaker 1: if not.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Given how I mean, I still think there's a good
- 46:21Speaker 3: chance we dropped that game just because I agree, you know,
- 46:25Speaker 3: in state rivalry sort of stuff. But I think the
- 46:30Speaker 3: most surprising part, like the first half, we won, but
- 46:34Speaker 3: it wasn't because our offense just defensively like we were
- 46:37Speaker 3: getting I mean, they had eight turnovers, like in the
- 46:40Speaker 3: first six minutes. I mean, they adjusted and they stopped.
- 46:43Speaker 3: I don't know what they were doing, like they just
- 46:46Speaker 3: started doing a little bit more highso and they let
- 46:47Speaker 3: their their scorers kind of score and then the sheer
- 46:52Speaker 3: kind of got hot from mind the arc in the
- 46:53Speaker 3: second half. That I just you know, is a guy
- 46:56Speaker 3: gonna shoot seven for fifteen every night, maybe, And that's
- 46:59Speaker 3: kind of how we've got We've got burned the last
- 47:01Speaker 3: couple of years. But I mean, defensively the first half
- 47:07Speaker 3: we look great, like our hands were quick and the shots.
- 47:12Speaker 3: We're hitting enough shots that we needed to. But you know,
- 47:15Speaker 3: the concern for the team is that we're going to
- 47:17Speaker 3: be too reliant on the three in this game. I mean,
- 47:20Speaker 3: Sam Biberg has first five shots were at the arc
- 47:22Speaker 3: or not at the arc, at the rim, you know,
- 47:25Speaker 3: just cutting and moving. So it's just I don't know,
- 47:28Speaker 3: it was a it was a good game to watch.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Got a little stressful there.
- 47:32Speaker 2: But yeah, that's that's the only thing I take it
- 47:37Speaker 2: from My game is and this has been ever since
- 47:38Speaker 2: Holy Work's been here, if you still have that cold stretch, Yeah,
- 47:44Speaker 2: every game Nebraska since he's been here, they have like
- 47:46Speaker 2: a cold stretch where they can't make anything.
- 47:49Speaker 3: And that's for this game. It was right out of
- 47:51Speaker 3: the second half they went on an eleven ozer run
- 47:53Speaker 3: and we're right back at it.
- 47:55Speaker 2: And I don't get why. It's it's every game that
- 47:58Speaker 2: Holiberg has coached here. It's which which you're not gonna
- 48:01Speaker 2: come out shooting. You're not gonna shoot the lines out
- 48:03Speaker 2: the whole game, all game one.
- 48:04Speaker 1: But find jac I don't know how much other colleague
- 48:09Speaker 1: basketball that you watch outside of your top teams that
- 48:13Speaker 1: are on TV.
- 48:15Speaker 4: I wouldn't say that, yes, atypical, it's happened.
- 48:18Speaker 1: To Hoiberg a lot, but of our caliber teams, it's
- 48:22Speaker 1: it's yeah, that that probably happens a lot more than
- 48:25Speaker 1: you think. I'm not defending Hoiberg completely, but at the
- 48:30Speaker 1: same time, like it's.
- 48:32Speaker 4: That, that's that's just basketball.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Like you do go on runs and you go on
- 48:38Speaker 1: spurts where you can't score, whether that be good defense
- 48:41Speaker 1: or whatever that may be.
- 48:43Speaker 2: I mean, you'll see it.
- 48:43Speaker 1: All the time on the on the flip side potension
- 48:45Speaker 1: on our defense where you'll see opponent has not scored
- 48:48Speaker 1: in four fifty four. Like we do the same thing
- 48:51Speaker 1: to other teams too, So it's not like it's a
- 48:53Speaker 1: oh boy like Hoyberg can't figure this out. It's it's
- 48:56Speaker 1: more just basketball. You gotta get out of that as
- 48:58Speaker 1: quick as as you can.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, there's even if this team somehow ends up
- 49:06Speaker 2: being terrible, which I don't know. I don't see how
- 49:09Speaker 2: we know one thing. I mean, they're gonna be fun
- 49:10Speaker 2: as how to watch, Like they're gonna be putting up
- 49:15Speaker 2: seventy five plus every every game.
- 49:17Speaker 3: I think there were I guess you know one, I
- 49:23Speaker 3: do think K State's a tournament team. I think they're
- 49:26Speaker 3: I think they're really good, you know, two years ago
- 49:29Speaker 3: there on the Elite eight. Last year not so much.
- 49:32Speaker 3: But so I think they have a good coach and
- 49:35Speaker 3: I do think that. I do think it is actually
- 49:36Speaker 3: a quality win. But my concerns if we start with,
- 49:42Speaker 3: you know, bar Kay cannot be shooting that many three pointers.
- 49:47Speaker 3: I don't know how over you are, but gosh, Barca
- 49:52Speaker 3: shot way too many times.
- 49:55Speaker 2: I'd be fine with him not showing any single three
- 49:57Speaker 2: the rest of the year. It's everything. I mean, he's
- 50:00Speaker 2: made a couple, but every time it goes up, I
- 50:01Speaker 2: think it's gonna be the hardest brick I've ever saw that.
- 50:03Speaker 1: That's the problem is he's made some which for himself
- 50:09Speaker 1: but also for the staff. It's hard to put a
- 50:12Speaker 1: red light on someone that has made a couple. He's
- 50:15Speaker 1: also missed some bad ones. Maybe this was enough to
- 50:17Speaker 1: go okay, bark like, hold the reins in a little bit.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Great, you can take one here and there when you're
- 50:22Speaker 3: wide open, but don't take thee out of the fast break.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Like how many you take this game?
- 50:27Speaker 3: Five oh five?
- 50:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's five too many.
- 50:31Speaker 3: He was two for nine, which isn't what you want
- 50:33Speaker 3: from your starting center. Here.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Here's the good news is from barri ka standpoint, what
- 50:40Speaker 1: he's doing a good job of, which he has to
- 50:42Speaker 1: because it's kind of all we have outside of rink.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Like he's getting rebounds and he's saying that call it
- 50:48Speaker 1: a center ye post spot. He's playing that well on
- 50:52Speaker 1: the defensive end, and the main thing on our defense
- 50:55Speaker 1: is getting rebounds because a lot of our five guys.
- 50:57Speaker 4: On defense are interchangeable.
- 50:58Speaker 1: The way we trapped like, we're not We're not banking
- 51:01Speaker 1: on guys being able to stop post.
- 51:02Speaker 4: Players one on one on the block. We don't do that.
- 51:04Speaker 1: We double the post every time, so he's at least
- 51:07Speaker 1: filling that rebounding role on the on.
- 51:10Speaker 4: The defensive side, which which is very good.
- 51:13Speaker 1: That that was a concern of mind going into the
- 51:14Speaker 1: year when we play these better teams, are we gonna
- 51:18Speaker 1: inside be able to hold our own?
- 51:20Speaker 3: So yes, well, and I mean just size wise depth
- 51:25Speaker 3: at the at the you know, in the front court
- 51:29Speaker 3: is terrifying. I mean, this is like probably the I
- 51:32Speaker 3: mean this might be our third game in a row
- 51:36Speaker 3: where we haven't touched any rotation bigs. Really. I mean
- 51:40Speaker 3: we had Brandon and sorry, Braiden, Connor and Kale all
- 51:44Speaker 3: play off the bench, and that's it. I mean, Braiden's
- 51:47Speaker 3: kind of a I mean, he's a front court player,
- 51:50Speaker 3: but he's not.
- 51:52Speaker 4: Yeah, you're right, he's yeah.
- 51:54Speaker 1: And that's the other promising thing, like you win a
- 51:56Speaker 1: game that way. It's it's the concerning part. It's actually
- 52:00Speaker 1: thankful that we have the defensive scheme in that we
- 52:02Speaker 1: do offensively Rank does right now just enough and on
- 52:10Speaker 1: the inside that you still have that threat, but that
- 52:13Speaker 1: he still obviously can shoot it, but he does.
- 52:17Speaker 4: He he is good enough inside that if we need
- 52:19Speaker 4: to throw get him, get him a touch. He can
- 52:22Speaker 4: do something.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Even last year, Andrew Morgan provided us a lot of
- 52:26Speaker 1: the interior scoring I should say a lot enough interior
- 52:30Speaker 1: scoring threat.
- 52:31Speaker 4: I wouldn't say Mia did anything, but.
- 52:35Speaker 1: But but you can still throw the ball the block
- 52:37Speaker 1: on him to where they.
- 52:40Speaker 4: Like, we're there. We don't even have those guys like
- 52:44Speaker 4: to do that with.
- 52:44Speaker 3: So all of our post scoring is going to be
- 52:46Speaker 3: come from cutting guards. I mean that seems but yeah,
- 52:50Speaker 3: the occasional rank mask low post move.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Yeah, him Burker can do a little bit down low,
- 52:55Speaker 2: but it's not like they have nobody down there. But
- 52:58Speaker 2: it's yeah, if there's that's almost if there's a big post,
- 53:04Speaker 2: which which they will play some in the big tag.
- 53:06Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, when we started playing actual actual big men
- 53:12Speaker 3: where we're throwing bodies at him and we start getting
- 53:14Speaker 3: a little a little you know, aggressive, and we start
- 53:17Speaker 3: getting foul trouble, where do we go?
- 53:20Speaker 1: I will say this though, Guys, like I said before,
- 53:23Speaker 1: the the scheme that we play with, we're leaves at
- 53:26Speaker 1: a ton like we we we aren't guarding people one
- 53:29Speaker 1: on one.
- 53:29Speaker 4: In the post.
- 53:30Speaker 1: We're not we when guys get down there. Yeah, there's
- 53:33Speaker 1: a part of it where you can't let them just
- 53:34Speaker 1: bully you and get to the rim. But we're our
- 53:37Speaker 1: defensive scheme does not like we're gonna be able to
- 53:43Speaker 1: contain those guys. That's why we've done a good job
- 53:46Speaker 1: against Purdues of the world. That's why we'd been a
- 53:48Speaker 1: good job against Culp Brenner at Creighton past a couple
- 53:51Speaker 1: of years, because we don't have to guard.
- 53:55Speaker 4: Them one on one. We don't.
- 53:56Speaker 1: We We we literally trap and rotate out of a
- 53:59Speaker 1: trap every time they catch it.
- 54:02Speaker 4: So that's why that should make you feel better with
- 54:05Speaker 4: this team.
- 54:06Speaker 1: It's not so much we don't have a big guy,
- 54:08Speaker 1: so we're screwed against big guys.
- 54:09Speaker 4: Well, no, we've actually done done well against big guys.
- 54:12Speaker 4: We really have.
- 54:15Speaker 3: No I agree with that. It's just at some point, well,
- 54:19Speaker 3: we've had people that that we we've had one or
- 54:22Speaker 3: two guys that we could throw in there that if
- 54:24Speaker 3: there's a guy who's in Powell trouble, we could certainly
- 54:26Speaker 3: could float right. I don't know if we have that
- 54:29Speaker 3: on this roster. And then the other thing that I
- 54:32Speaker 3: was interested, Kendall Blue didn't get any playing time that he's,
- 54:35Speaker 3: you know, a senior guard transfer, so he's not here
- 54:38Speaker 3: to develop. He's here to actually play, and.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Franker kind of took his spot a
- 54:44Speaker 2: little bit.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so far he's kind of been a swing and
- 54:47Speaker 1: a miss from a transfer portal pickup. I he was
- 54:51Speaker 1: one guy I thought just from reading stuff preseason could
- 54:55Speaker 1: contribute quite a bit. And I mean watching him too,
- 54:58Speaker 1: it makes total sense. While he's not playing.
- 55:01Speaker 2: Struggle, he's not very good, but so unlike the football team,
- 55:06Speaker 2: like you said earlier, at least his basketball team has
- 55:08Speaker 2: an identity what they want to do or know what
- 55:11Speaker 2: knows what they want to do.
- 55:12Speaker 3: Yeah, they're they're three point shooting, slash to the basket
- 55:19Speaker 3: and fly all over the floor on defense team.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Yep, yep.
- 55:23Speaker 1: I completely agree that that word identity. Hoiberg's established that,
- 55:31Speaker 1: I would say halfway through two years ago to last
- 55:35Speaker 1: year into this year, like it's very clear the values
- 55:40Speaker 1: and the things that he's teaching now to start the
- 55:44Speaker 1: first couple of his years, that was not true. You
- 55:48Speaker 1: want to talk about the biggest lack of identity and
- 55:52Speaker 1: Hoiberg's first few years here, he's in year seven, I
- 55:56Speaker 1: mean years one through four, it was like what the
- 55:59Speaker 1: hell are we doing?
- 56:01Speaker 4: And he it was not good.
- 56:03Speaker 2: You're you're telling me you're missing cam Mack.
- 56:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it just it just it was Ted Man.
- 56:11Speaker 4: Yeah that it was a disaster. Like, yeah, see, we
- 56:14Speaker 4: have found what is working.
- 56:18Speaker 1: His mind is working better, which it is has been
- 56:20Speaker 1: record wise last couple of years. Unfortunately it just came
- 56:24Speaker 1: not the beginning of his career here, but things seem
- 56:27Speaker 1: to be clicking right now with what he's believing in,
- 56:30Speaker 1: which the good news is he's was able to tweak
- 56:34Speaker 1: it this.
- 56:34Speaker 4: Year to the team that we have so far, Like
- 56:37Speaker 4: he's show him that.
- 56:38Speaker 1: Okay, like we we know we don't have X, Y
- 56:41Speaker 1: and Z, So here's how we got to do it,
- 56:43Speaker 1: and here's the things we got to do to execute
- 56:45Speaker 1: it well on the defensive end, by having a system
- 56:49Speaker 1: and a scheme in like is it is it how
- 56:54Speaker 1: everybody would run a defense? Is not how I would
- 56:56Speaker 1: coach a defense. But they're really really good at doing it,
- 57:01Speaker 1: very very good, and so by doing that, it's very
- 57:03Speaker 1: effective against anybody that you play against because you're good
- 57:09Speaker 1: at your own defense. So yeah, that's it's very it is.
- 57:16Speaker 1: It's gonna be an exciting team to watch. I still
- 57:19Speaker 1: think there's the ability of this team getting blown out.
- 57:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 57:24Speaker 4: And it probably will happen. So we'll see mentally how
- 57:27Speaker 4: we how.
- 57:28Speaker 2: We then it will happen because because what shooting teams is,
- 57:32Speaker 2: they're gonna have an off night and they're just gonna
- 57:33Speaker 2: get the Dwarves kicked in.
- 57:35Speaker 3: We're also very thin. We cannot you know, one or
- 57:37Speaker 3: two injuries and we're correct that.
- 57:41Speaker 2: Which we thought we thought. I'm in the year, so
- 57:43Speaker 2: that's kind of changes. We thought they had a lot
- 57:45Speaker 2: of depth. They they don't.
- 57:47Speaker 3: At this point. We haven't seen the depth anyways.
- 57:49Speaker 2: If they Yeah, it's a little bit and it's a mess,
- 57:54Speaker 2: a little bit f I U And then I can't
- 57:56Speaker 2: remember the Western Georgia whoever the hell they played that
- 57:58Speaker 2: first game. Yeah, I know when when those guys ball
- 58:03Speaker 2: your Sperca should come in, it's a it's a disaster.
- 58:06Speaker 4: I'm curious.
- 58:07Speaker 1: I guess the other guy that should help us potentially
- 58:10Speaker 1: is Jersey Visage.
- 58:13Speaker 3: The name, but is he from Iceland?
- 58:16Speaker 2: That?
- 58:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I guess I thought from even two years ago,
- 58:22Speaker 1: I thought maybe he'd or two years two weeks ago,
- 58:24Speaker 1: I thought maybe he'd be back by now. From the
- 58:27Speaker 1: stuff I kind of been hearing and seeing he hasn't
- 58:29Speaker 1: played yet Lithuania.
- 58:32Speaker 3: He's from Lithuania.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Jeez, I think he should I mean, from what I've heard,
- 58:37Speaker 1: should help could help that.
- 58:39Speaker 3: Jerry Garcia, Yeah, he's the post. He's the post player.
- 58:43Speaker 3: You'd probably get worked into the rotation.
- 58:46Speaker 2: So what's what's wrong with your boy? He just said
- 58:47Speaker 2: his name? Is he heard? Or what's going on with them?
- 58:49Speaker 3: He's heard? Yes?
- 58:51Speaker 2: Okay.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Uh. The other comment of ade to you guys was
- 58:56Speaker 3: Sam Foyverg is pretty important. Oh yeah, like even though
- 59:02Speaker 3: he's undersized, like he's kind of he's kind of the
- 59:05Speaker 3: motor on defense.
- 59:07Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, he's.
- 59:14Speaker 2: And he's not horrible on offense, like.
- 59:17Speaker 3: You're six for six. He knows when to shoot. Yeah,
- 59:21Speaker 3: he's not taking you know, if he's contested, it's not
- 59:24Speaker 3: going up because he's sure he knows it. He's like,
- 59:27Speaker 3: why would I go up when he's contested?
- 59:29Speaker 4: Yep?
- 59:29Speaker 3: And the buzzer is about to go off, and you
- 59:33Speaker 3: know there's one second left on the clock, which if
- 59:36Speaker 3: we lost after they added that time back to the
- 59:38Speaker 3: clock out.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Of diving that but that that was great. I don't
- 59:43Speaker 2: know where that time came from.
- 59:44Speaker 4: I mean I don't think that can be right. I
- 59:48Speaker 4: don't think so either.
- 59:51Speaker 1: We're probably never going to hear if they go back
- 59:55Speaker 1: and like talk about it as a reughing crew and
- 59:57Speaker 1: they get, you know, say hey, you guys mess this up,
- 59:59Speaker 1: We're probably not going to hear that.
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: But it just that doesn't seem like you can do that.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Yeah, he plays earlier, there was.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: Yeah, if they did it after the first free throw, sure,
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: if they did it after or even after the foul
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: after the first free throw, but you can't do it
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: after the second free throw after you start the clock again.
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: And that that was where I was.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I just couldn't couldn't have been right, I don't
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: think because on top of that, it also we clearly
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: missed that second free throw on purpose because of the
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: time on the clock, probably because there was lesson There's
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: point six left, and we knew that by the time
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: they go all the time out, they have to they're
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: gonna have to You're not gonna time to get a
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: shot up, Whereas if there was more time, it would
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: have done something different. So I I would think that
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: that's something that is getting submitted or at least being
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: talked about like that crew which I guess that it
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: didn't didn't matter, but yeah, that was wild.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Yeah, if it would have been buzzed bether that that would.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Have been heavily lost after intentionally missing the free throw.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Man great intentional miss though, that was that was a
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: hell of a mess. I can't I think it was
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: was a hoy brave I was shooting.
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yep.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: As far as like miss calls, I think that if
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: we would have lost the game off of that, that
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: would definitely been something we could have I mean, assuming
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: that we're we are talking correctly on the rule, how
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: you can't do that, that'd be something you could protest, Yeah,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: and and maybe win that protest. And I don't know
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: how you finished the game then, but I would think
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: that would have been warranted.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: They're assuming that they messed the rule up.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: But yeah, basketball team was good. We got a game
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: again t Winthrop and.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: I've heard I've heard of Winthrops pretty good.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: They did just lose the coach calipar Or in Arkansas
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: by one. That's their most recent game.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Yeah, there's yeah, someone out there saying Winthrops is a
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: pretty damn good team. So we'll see what's going on.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Uh as far as like getting ranked goes I breakings
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: come out today, I believe.
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: Recording Monday morning. I don't think we.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Will be but get the CBS Sports for releases there
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: twenty five and one on Sunday.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: We are the one. Oh so we.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Are whatever that means, whether we are actually twenty six.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I think sometimes CBS puts like the hot team on
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: that one spot. It's kind of their top twenty five,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: and then they throw a team in there. I don't
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: think we're twenty six, but that's it was kind of
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: fun to see us as the one and they're twenty
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: five and one rankings.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I mean, they win these next two. I think they're
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: gonna ranked.
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: Going in Creighton, I disagree.
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: But probably it depends on what happens at the top
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: teams at the top Blues.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we'll be close. I mean, I think
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: we'll be getting a lot of votes. I don't know
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: will be ranking it's ranks, but maybe I'll be wrong.
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't want to be ranked.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: No, I don't ever in basketball. It doesn't matter, it
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: literally doesn't matter. I don't ever want to be ranked.
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: I don't want to have a number by your name.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: I don't. I don't want to keep it out of there.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: If we go twenty and oh, I still don't want
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: to be ranked. You're making the tournament. I don't care.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: You're probably the twenty six team all year.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Yes, teams that way. Teams are like, we got to
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: get this ranked opponent.
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: Keep keep us out of the rankings for as long
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: as we can.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it gets those roader by Man's a lot crazier
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: too when you come in ranks.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Even if you're twenty fifth like Ship. Oh yeah, it
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: just adds a Oh they're ranked, be the ranked team.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: On TV more, there's more pressure. Yeah, all right. Volleyball
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: still undefeated, won Big ten title actually yep, two games ago.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: And yeah, volleyball teams really freaking good guys, they are,
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: they're real good.
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Hi, if you just sat odds right now for us
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: to win the Natty title, is it fifty to fifty?
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: Is it better than.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: Fifty to fifty? I wouldn't give us fifty to fifty?
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: Would you take? Would you take a bat us versus
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: the field?
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: And I know nothing about volleyball. I don't know any
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: other teams.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: Yes, Jamson, I would is because the last couple of years.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: I felt the same way going into the tournament, and
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: we were just like the Texas game a couple of
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: years ago where we just absolutely got handled. And then
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: Penn State we were up two oh and they reverse
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: sweeped us last year. Like it's just with tournaments, it's
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: just so hard.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Dak sounds like that we got another half.
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: I'm not betting.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: I have just I have no idea about volleyball.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: You were so certainly you said, yes, yes, yes.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: That's I haven't watched a lick of a different team volleyball.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: I'm just saying they undefeated. I don't know any I
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: can tell you the second best team in the nation.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: I can't even tell you top five.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: Has nothing to do that.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: You just said that you would take us versus field
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: and you were just so confident.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: Yes, bolleyball, I'm not touching. I I don't know anything.
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: You're gonna back down from another bet.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: You're gonna you're gonna you're gonna be so confident, and
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: now you're gonna back out again.
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: On volleyball, they're very probably hard to find.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: Yeah they will once tournament comes around.
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: But all right, Jack, we'll just let you cop out again.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm copying on this one. I don't know jack
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: shit about volleyball.
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: Don't say Nebraska versus Field.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: Yes, yes, the fact that that that's a conversation, that
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: that in itself is pretty good.
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: It's wild. All right, a little longer, POD.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I guess we'll be going to one a week, probably
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: starting next week after football regular season is over.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: But we will be back Thursday morning, probably not Thursday,
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: maybe not Thursday morning because that is Thanksgiving. Maybe Wednesday evening,
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: maybe some other time, but.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: We'll get something in before the Friday Black Friday game AGAINSTWA.
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: All Right, go big Red, Big Red
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: Name, Elish Elisha
