- 0:40Speaker 4: Yes, very good.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Not Roger bruzzk No, No, it's Sean Landana with the
- 0:45Speaker 2: single bar helmet there, Faith Messa.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's see what I me. I remember.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Good to see it, you know, it's amazing. This past
- 0:52Speaker 5: January first was twenty years to the day of my
- 0:55Speaker 5: last game with the Eagles, so wow, I remember it
- 0:58Speaker 5: was January first, two thousand and six where we played
- 1:00Speaker 5: the Redskins the last game, and uh, it was kind
- 1:03Speaker 5: of cool because it was the first so you had
- 1:06Speaker 5: the mummers and our game was at four o'clock, so
- 1:10Speaker 5: all those guys in their outfits came up and went
- 1:13Speaker 5: to the game, and a bunch of us on the
- 1:15Speaker 5: sideline periodically would take a peek and look around because
- 1:18Speaker 5: there was some magnificent sights of these guys and their outfits.
- 1:22Speaker 5: Just passed out because of.
- 1:24Speaker 3: All the things.
- 1:25Speaker 4: It was really very first.
- 1:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I can't believe it's been twenty years of years ago.
- 1:30Speaker 5: By He's so glad, But I loved the five seasons
- 1:32Speaker 5: I was here, so grateful that I got them.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Well, Sean, we're glad you joined us at Chicken Piter
- 1:36Speaker 2: and Roosevelt Bulevard.
- 1:37Speaker 3: It's you know, we.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Were going to talk right about the game, but the
- 1:41Speaker 2: big news of the day is Kevin Botulo is out
- 1:43Speaker 2: of offensive coordinator. Ever obviously this is going to happen.
- 1:45Speaker 2: This is just the way it is. And Sean, I
- 1:47Speaker 2: want to ask you a question because you know, you
- 1:50Speaker 2: played for the Eagles. You played for a team that
- 1:54Speaker 2: was owned by his own bye still by Jeffrey Lorie.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And I'm sure you know that's actually where I'm going
- 1:59Speaker 2: with this. Were you aware of the importance that he
- 2:02Speaker 2: puts on offense when you talk about Jeffrey or yes, Jeffrey, no, Jeffrey.
- 2:07Speaker 2: You know I can say no that I don't know.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I mean, I think the world of Jeffrey. I can
- 2:12Speaker 2: tell the fans this. I mean, this guy, truthfully, even
- 2:15Speaker 2: with everything that he has, constantly thinks of everything he
- 2:19Speaker 2: can do to make the Eagles better, probably on a
- 2:22Speaker 2: daily basis.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Well, because I've had.
- 2:23Speaker 5: So many conversations with him through the years, and he
- 2:26Speaker 5: is an owner, I believe certainly they all care. But
- 2:29Speaker 5: just in case anybody's wondering, this guy cares so much
- 2:32Speaker 5: about this organization in this city. But I didn't know
- 2:37Speaker 5: if that is the case, that it was that he
- 2:40Speaker 5: had that much input or say in that because I
- 2:42Speaker 5: know through the years the Eagles had so much success,
- 2:45Speaker 5: and you know, obviously he has a lot of knowledge.
- 2:47Speaker 5: Now this is you know, thirty years since he's owned
- 2:50Speaker 5: the team, and you know, you wonder, maybe did he
- 2:55Speaker 5: have something to say to Sirianni as far as you
- 2:58Speaker 5: know this move needs to be made, or did Nick
- 3:01Speaker 5: go along with it, or was Nick in the position
- 3:03Speaker 5: or was it Howie, sure we all kind of knew
- 3:05Speaker 5: as you said it was going to happen.
- 3:08Speaker 4: We talked before the show.
- 3:09Speaker 5: Sometimes coaches, you know, can take the blame when players
- 3:13Speaker 5: don't perform. But that being said, I think there was
- 3:15Speaker 5: enough there throughout this year that, unfortunately for Kevin.
- 3:18Speaker 4: That this had to happen.
- 3:19Speaker 2: So, and you're closest team, you cover it from a
- 3:22Speaker 2: daily basis for us at inside the Birds, so being
- 3:25Speaker 2: in the locker room, being around the club, the fact
- 3:27Speaker 2: it was clean out there because they lost, of course
- 3:29Speaker 2: on Sunday at home, unfortunately the forty nine ers. So
- 3:33Speaker 2: this came up about Kevin Petula. What do the players
- 3:35Speaker 2: tell you?
- 3:36Speaker 6: Look, all season long, the players have been accountable. They
- 3:39Speaker 6: look inward first. They always talk about execution, and I
- 3:43Speaker 6: don't think that's by happenstance. They know that there's plays
- 3:46Speaker 6: left on the field to be made. And that's not
- 3:49Speaker 6: to say that there haven't been shortcomings from Kevin Petulo
- 3:52Speaker 6: in terms of sequencing and things like that. I think
- 3:54Speaker 6: he's done a nice job with the scripted plays and
- 3:57Speaker 6: inside the red zone, he's been really creative. But all
- 3:59Speaker 6: season long, the offenses had to labor their way down
- 4:02Speaker 6: the field, and with the offense that talented, with that
- 4:05Speaker 6: much invested in it, that shouldn't be the case. So
- 4:08Speaker 6: obviously something had to happen there. But I always say
- 4:10Speaker 6: players first, players when they win, players first when they
- 4:14Speaker 6: lose as well. And there has been a lot of
- 4:16Speaker 6: plays on the field that that we're that are there
- 4:18Speaker 6: to be made. And just look at that forty nine
- 4:20Speaker 6: Ers game alone. Three drops from your star wide receiver,
- 4:24Speaker 6: drop by your your you know, your all star running
- 4:27Speaker 6: backs A Kwon bark. We had a big one there
- 4:29Speaker 6: that that's that's not on coaching, that that's that's on execution.
- 4:33Speaker 6: But I mean, I know I'm cherry picking a little bit,
- 4:35Speaker 6: but I think that it's a it's been a collective
- 4:37Speaker 6: as to why the offense hasn't fulfilled expectations.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree, and we talked about it before you
- 4:42Speaker 5: mentioned those drops. Jake Elliet has been a terrific kicker,
- 4:45Speaker 5: but if he makes that extra point late in the game,
- 4:47Speaker 5: you're kicking the tie and who knows what happens after that.
- 4:50Speaker 5: But again, you know that's the players having to get
- 4:52Speaker 5: it done. And but that's that's all part of football,
- 4:55Speaker 5: I guess.
- 4:55Speaker 2: So they're gonna be hiring a new offensive coordinator. Now,
- 4:58Speaker 2: let's get into this, because the challenge with Jalen Hurts
- 5:02Speaker 2: is he likes a certain style of play. We know
- 5:05Speaker 2: that it's going to start with a running game with Barkley.
- 5:07Speaker 2: But in terms of the past game, Andrew Hurts is
- 5:10Speaker 2: not a guy that typically will throw the ball inside.
- 5:13Speaker 3: So there's certain schemes.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Like old school West Coast offense where people wanted Mike McDaniel.
- 5:17Speaker 2: It makes no sense because McDaniel's all about timing, rhythm,
- 5:22Speaker 2: tight ends over the middle. If you watch the Dolphins,
- 5:24Speaker 2: like I, although it was painful this year, they weren't
- 5:26Speaker 2: very good, but a lot a lot of passes.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Over the middle. Hurts seawan.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Since the bye, he's showing a little willingness to throw
- 5:33Speaker 2: it over the middle.
- 5:35Speaker 3: But I heard Irvin Fryar say this, do you play
- 5:36Speaker 3: with Friar?
- 5:37Speaker 5: No?
- 5:37Speaker 4: I played against him and and we won a.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Career Eagles, right. But he said on local radio last year.
- 5:44Speaker 2: This shocked me because they were talking and he was
- 5:46Speaker 2: talking about Hurts. He goes, well, Hurts don't like to
- 5:49Speaker 2: throw the ball over the middle, so it makes it
- 5:50Speaker 2: tough for US receivers. So I was like, wow, I
- 5:52Speaker 2: didn't think a form of player would say that.
- 5:53Speaker 3: But he's just telling the truth. Andrew, Yeah, you're there
- 5:56Speaker 3: all the time.
- 5:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean you watch the offense over the last
- 5:59Speaker 6: number of seasasons that he's been a starter that's been
- 6:01Speaker 6: largely absent from the offense. It's certainly not a coordinator
- 6:04Speaker 6: saying let's not let's avoid that area of the field.
- 6:07Speaker 6: You always tailor to the strengths of your players, what
- 6:09Speaker 6: they're comfortable with, and for whatever reason, that's why they
- 6:12Speaker 6: don't do it. And that's why you see a lot
- 6:14Speaker 6: of the hitch routes and things of that nature that
- 6:17Speaker 6: you hear get get often mocked on on television and
- 6:20Speaker 6: social media. But they're doing it because it's it's a preference.
- 6:23Speaker 6: It's something that Jaywen Hurts is very good at. And
- 6:26Speaker 6: I mean, Adam, I was a little curious this year
- 6:28Speaker 6: that we didn't see a lot of the bang eight
- 6:30Speaker 6: routes with aj.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Brown and Quinn Slant.
- 6:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean that those are almost automatic and they
- 6:34Speaker 6: have been in the past. So yeah, it's it's not
- 6:37Speaker 6: by you know, by design that they're you know that
- 6:40Speaker 6: they're not avoiding that area of the.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Field, you know.
- 6:43Speaker 5: And that's interesting to hear Irving say that because you
- 6:45Speaker 5: know coaches in every position in teams, you know, they
- 6:48Speaker 5: watched other teams, they chart how often do you do
- 6:51Speaker 5: this and that. And if it's very clear that when
- 6:53Speaker 5: we play the Eagles, we know, based on their history,
- 6:56Speaker 5: they are not going to throw over the middle much.
- 6:58Speaker 5: I would think that's got to be a huge advantage
- 7:01Speaker 5: to the defense. That's just one less thing we got
- 7:03Speaker 5: to worry about. You know, if you look at their
- 7:06Speaker 5: last day, ten games or last year, it's eighty eight
- 7:08Speaker 5: percent of the time they do this or do that.
- 7:10Speaker 5: It's you know, you would think they'd have a tremendous
- 7:13Speaker 5: package because this is the NFL. People make catches over
- 7:16Speaker 5: the middle absolutely, and Andrew.
- 7:17Speaker 2: You know as well as anyone because you're a training
- 7:20Speaker 2: camp you've been throwing them since you worked for us.
- 7:23Speaker 3: That balls go. Now it hurts us a deep ball
- 7:25Speaker 3: throw because talking about your greatability.
- 7:27Speaker 6: He's great at it, very good deep ball thrower, one
- 7:29Speaker 6: of the best, good at throwing outside the numbers. But
- 7:32Speaker 6: I was also really curious to when your offense is struggling,
- 7:35Speaker 6: you're not establishing much of a rhythm. In terms of
- 7:37Speaker 6: the passing game, we saw so much Adam in the summer,
- 7:41Speaker 6: the checkdowns to the running backs, the wheel routes. There
- 7:44Speaker 6: must have been at least fifty to will Shipley where
- 7:47Speaker 6: were that beating everybody, sakuon Barkley even and when you
- 7:50Speaker 6: get to the regular season, it's absent. It's not a
- 7:52Speaker 6: part of their offense.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Screen game and where's the screen game?
- 7:55Speaker 6: That's a good way to get your quarterback out of
- 7:57Speaker 6: you know, into a rhythm and alleviate some of that
- 7:59Speaker 6: Earth game pressure, and the Eagles just never never tapped
- 8:03Speaker 6: into that.
- 8:03Speaker 2: So Sean Andrew and I and Jeff Moscher, you know,
- 8:05Speaker 2: we were at training camp two years ago and there
- 8:08Speaker 2: was one effect. I think I saw you at that
- 8:10Speaker 2: training camp, and I think it seemed like Jeandre Swift
- 8:13Speaker 2: had like twenty catches in one practice.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Okay, well, Swift is a great receiving back.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Saint George Prep, by the way, in Philly, where Kevin
- 8:21Speaker 2: Stefanski went. But anyway, why what happened and then in
- 8:26Speaker 2: the regular season never happened? I said, I'm done judging
- 8:29Speaker 2: what I see Sean and training camp, because I got full.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Yeah, well, obviously anybody would. If you saw that and
- 8:34Speaker 5: you saw them have a success, you think at some
- 8:36Speaker 5: point you would see it during the season. But that's
- 8:38Speaker 5: very interesting. You know, again, back to what you said before,
- 8:41Speaker 5: I'm just thinking here that you know, they don't throw
- 8:43Speaker 5: over the middle very much. Whether it's something he doesn't
- 8:46Speaker 5: do well, which it's hard to believe because he's an
- 8:48Speaker 5: NFL quarterback. I'm sure if he had great plays called,
- 8:51Speaker 5: you could do that. But there's no doubt that had
- 8:53Speaker 5: to hurt this offense of that lack, you know, of
- 8:57Speaker 5: that part of a passing game, and maybe that's part
- 8:59Speaker 5: of the deal why he's not here.
- 9:01Speaker 3: So Andrew, let's look at it this way.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Right, So you've got Siriani's run his scheme since he's
- 9:06Speaker 2: gotten here.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Okay, no matter who can call in the place, it's
- 9:08Speaker 3: his scheme. They have not changed the scheme.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Kellen Moore brought some new concepts, but generally overall, it's.
- 9:16Speaker 3: It's Syrianna's scheme.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I know there's no way to know this, but to me,
- 9:22Speaker 2: you got if you're bringing in someone's established, not a
- 9:25Speaker 2: young person, not a young coach. But if you're bringing
- 9:28Speaker 2: someone's established, they've got to be able to make their
- 9:29Speaker 2: own run here with their own system.
- 9:31Speaker 6: For the offense to reach its expectations and be able
- 9:34Speaker 6: to open things up and maximize the talent. Yes, but
- 9:37Speaker 6: we thought we were going to see that with Kellen Moore.
- 9:39Speaker 6: But I would tell anyone out there, look at Kellen
- 9:42Speaker 6: Moore's offense before he got the Philadelphia and after he
- 9:45Speaker 6: got and after he left Philadelphia, where he's doing more
- 9:47Speaker 6: with less with the Saints. It's a stark contrast to
- 9:50Speaker 6: what he was running here in Philadelphia. And I think
- 9:53Speaker 6: the big difference there is that he had a prolific
- 9:55Speaker 6: rushing attack with Saquon Barkley to lean on, and that's
- 9:58Speaker 6: why his offense was and as heavily scrutinized as the
- 10:01Speaker 6: one we just saw.
- 10:02Speaker 5: You know what's interesting too is Petullo's been here for
- 10:04Speaker 5: what five years yep, So he's been around a lot
- 10:07Speaker 5: of success. He's been to a couple of Super Bowls.
- 10:09Speaker 5: I mean he is, you know, very aware of everything
- 10:11Speaker 5: that was going on here before plays that were being called.
- 10:14Speaker 5: And I think that had a lot to do with
- 10:16Speaker 5: why Sirianni wanted him and elevated him, because he's been
- 10:19Speaker 5: right here and he felt he was able to take
- 10:21Speaker 5: over for it. And it's just, you know, interesting that
- 10:24Speaker 5: if you've been here all these years and seeing all
- 10:26Speaker 5: the success and the growth that you know, the problems
- 10:29Speaker 5: that had they had this this year would happen. You know,
- 10:33Speaker 5: that's part kind of surprises me a little bit.
- 10:36Speaker 3: So Sean, here's the thing.
- 10:38Speaker 2: He's also worked very but even before this season, he's
- 10:40Speaker 2: worked very closely with Hurts because.
- 10:42Speaker 3: He's part of the game planning.
- 10:44Speaker 2: He was also at one point that passing game coordinator,
- 10:47Speaker 2: so you would think that he knew what hurt Selected
- 10:49Speaker 2: didn't like. But Andrew, again, it just never seemed. You
- 10:54Speaker 2: were talk of the sequencing. You're trying to get a
- 10:56Speaker 2: rhythm to what you do.
- 10:58Speaker 6: Yeah, set things up early in the game to count,
- 11:00Speaker 6: you know, to have the defense thinking one thing, you
- 11:03Speaker 6: countering with something else. There just wasn't that feel, that
- 11:05Speaker 6: rhythm to the offense all season.
- 11:07Speaker 2: And that's to me, Sean, why the new guy let
- 11:10Speaker 2: him run his own system. It's just, uh, Nick's gotta
- 11:14Speaker 2: give Nick to sign a contract, et cetera. And he
- 11:16Speaker 2: just won a super Bowl last year. He shouldn't be
- 11:18Speaker 2: coaching for his job. Just let the Reins go, get
- 11:22Speaker 2: the offensive coordinator to run his own system. And then
- 11:25Speaker 2: then Jalen, I know this is a tough thing to say,
- 11:27Speaker 2: but Jalen's just got to go along with it. I
- 11:29Speaker 2: know that he's had a lot of change. I think
- 11:31Speaker 2: it's like this will be his eleventh coordinator.
- 11:33Speaker 6: Yeah, six or seventh since being an Eagle starting quarterback.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Going back to high school with his father and seleven coordinators.
- 11:39Speaker 6: Wow, it's a lot, yeah, but like six or seven
- 11:42Speaker 6: in the NFL, right.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I agree with you to be a seventh
- 11:46Speaker 4: seventh one. Yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 5: I mean, you know, obviously you would think whoever they
- 11:49Speaker 5: would bring in would be somebody that whatever their philosophy,
- 11:52Speaker 5: is his strength and you know, be able to work
- 11:56Speaker 5: with him because he's so talented, and you know this.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Team is right there.
- 12:00Speaker 5: I mean, if they went back to the Super Bowl
- 12:02Speaker 5: at next year had an opportunity, wouldn't surprise me because
- 12:05Speaker 5: their team is so deep. I mean, we're all so
- 12:07Speaker 5: surprised there's got knocked out of the playoffs. But I'm
- 12:10Speaker 5: interested to see who they bring in. Do they bring
- 12:12Speaker 5: in an offensive cornerat and maybe there was an NFL
- 12:14Speaker 5: head coach, because there's going to be a few of
- 12:16Speaker 5: those guys out there. I think guys that were NFL
- 12:19Speaker 5: head coaches that maybe not get a NFL Sure, Jolly
- 12:23Speaker 5: Kenna Safanski or day Ball or mchan I know you
- 12:26Speaker 5: mentioned him before. But there'll be some terrific guys out
- 12:29Speaker 5: there I think available.
- 12:30Speaker 2: The guy that I like, Jeff Mosher brought up to
- 12:33Speaker 2: be yesterday, I think it's perfect fit is Todd Monkin
- 12:35Speaker 2: because he's luth. The Ravens still in a contract, I believe,
- 12:38Speaker 2: but obviously they had a head coaching change. Monk could
- 12:41Speaker 2: run any kind of scheme you want because he's done
- 12:43Speaker 2: eleven personnel twelve ten, which is four receivers. They also
- 12:49Speaker 2: do a lot of thirteen because they have three tenants.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Charlie Callers are thirty. He's a pretty good tight end
- 12:53Speaker 2: out of Yeah, I Sean, So I like the diversity
- 12:57Speaker 2: of personnel groupings that to me would be a perfect fit.
- 13:00Speaker 2: And head heck Lamar Jackson's been an every Pano Tom market.
- 13:04Speaker 2: It's pretty good. And also you just mentioned guys head coaching.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Could they not get someone who's gonna be wants to
- 13:10Speaker 2: be a head coach again.
- 13:12Speaker 6: For continuity purposes? No, absolutely, I was shocked this season
- 13:15Speaker 6: that there wasn't sort of a senior consultant or anything
- 13:19Speaker 6: like that, just to oversee it. They had a real
- 13:22Speaker 6: young coaching staff. So Parks Fraser is about thirty five
- 13:25Speaker 6: years old. He had just a little bit of an
- 13:28Speaker 6: experienced calling plays with the Colts, they didn't really have
- 13:30Speaker 6: anybody obvious that they could lean like Patoula could lean
- 13:33Speaker 6: to him, be that sound used as a sounding board,
- 13:35Speaker 6: like he was for Kellen Moore last season.
- 13:37Speaker 2: All right, before we take a break, what you just
- 13:38Speaker 2: said is important because after the Buffalo game, okay, because
- 13:43Speaker 2: they were talking about getting plays in and timing and everything,
- 13:48Speaker 2: and Nick was asked about something gonna happen and what
- 13:53Speaker 2: happened the second half? Why they didn't score any points,
- 13:55Speaker 2: why didn't Jalen have completed a pass the second half?
- 13:57Speaker 2: And because hey, I have to help Kevin. And then
- 14:00Speaker 2: a reporter asked to follow questioning Sean about about it,
- 14:03Speaker 2: and he goes, well, look, it's kind of tough, but
- 14:05Speaker 2: I'm trying to coach the team. And that's when I'm like,
- 14:08Speaker 2: that's the perfect reason to have a senior offensive assistant.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean to make that statement. I could, Yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 5: he make that statement. Basically, what do you.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Just admitted it?
- 14:18Speaker 2: Thank you, because I seem to be the only one
- 14:20Speaker 2: in this market that picked that up. I'm like, you're
- 14:22Speaker 2: admitting you need a senior offensive assistant. That's exactly what
- 14:24Speaker 2: that would do.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Andrew. Yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 6: I even said that before the season, looking at the
- 14:27Speaker 6: coaching staff, and I was like, man, for our first
- 14:29Speaker 6: year play caller, it's really there's nobody else for him
- 14:33Speaker 6: to turn to if he needs some help, if he

- 17:18Speaker 3: Sean go to see again.
- 17:19Speaker 4: So great to be here. Thank you, guys, Thank you.
- 17:21Speaker 3: For coming here.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, thank you for coming here. Roosaveelt Boulevard here.
- 17:24Speaker 2: We're here till seven pm. All right, guys, all right,
- 17:27Speaker 2: so we talk about Vin Patola he's out, uh and
- 17:30Speaker 2: what to look for next.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Now we got to talk about the game.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I'll admit it, Sean, I thought there was no way
- 17:35Speaker 2: that they'll lose it to the beat up San Francisco
- 17:37Speaker 2: forty nine ers. I'm still kind of a shock, Sean.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Did you think confidently that they'd win that game?
- 17:43Speaker 5: I absolutely did, And for the reason you said, you know,
- 17:45Speaker 5: it's interesting. There's reasons and excuses. Sure, a reason is
- 17:49Speaker 5: something that's true. An excuse is not so. The fact
- 17:53Speaker 5: that the forty nine ers had so many guys missing
- 17:56Speaker 5: that is a legitimate reason as to why you don't
- 17:59Speaker 5: think they'll be is good. No team is going to
- 18:01Speaker 5: be as good. Doesn't mean they won't be good, but
- 18:04Speaker 5: not as good if you don't have all those guys,
- 18:06Speaker 5: and on top of it, you lose Kittle. Would he
- 18:10Speaker 5: get lost in the second quarter?
- 18:11Speaker 3: Second?
- 18:13Speaker 4: I mean again, I mean so surprising.
- 18:16Speaker 5: I mean ten years down the road, you might have
- 18:19Speaker 5: a few of those guys sitting around looking at each
- 18:21Speaker 5: other say you know what I mean, it could happen.
- 18:24Speaker 5: Can you believe winan beating that Eagles team, that defending
- 18:26Speaker 5: world champs at their place and we had thirteen guys
- 18:29Speaker 5: on IR and lost Kittle in the second quarter? Yeah,
- 18:32Speaker 5: you know, I was very surprised.
- 18:34Speaker 6: They win the turnover battle, sakwon Barkley rushes for one
- 18:37Speaker 6: hundred and six yards. George Kittle leaves the game and
- 18:40Speaker 6: they still lose. I don't, you can't. You can't make
- 18:43Speaker 6: this up.
- 18:43Speaker 4: And they scored twenty seven points. Oh they didn't score.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Ten or thirteen? I think twenty three? Yeah, twenty three.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 18:50Speaker 5: You know, if you if you ask the computer, how
- 18:53Speaker 5: many teams win an NFL game, we scored twenty three points,
- 18:55Speaker 5: it might be about seventy percent.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Shaw brought party with phenomenal.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I know the both picks. One was clearly on him.
- 19:03Speaker 2: He turned his body, which you can't do. In fact,
- 19:06Speaker 2: greg O sell you know, you know Greg so Greg
- 19:09Speaker 2: told me that one of them would have been a
- 19:12Speaker 2: big play to Juwan Jennings over the middle, probably went
- 19:14Speaker 2: for forty yards, but he for some reason didn't go
- 19:17Speaker 2: to him, and he turned his body and threw the cue.
- 19:19Speaker 2: But Angel, let's get let's get to you in this thing.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Were you confident like I was, there's really no way
- 19:24Speaker 2: that heals.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Will lose this game?
- 19:25Speaker 6: Yeah, I was really confident, especially when they're down to
- 19:28Speaker 6: their fourth and fifth linebackers or whatever the case was.
- 19:30Speaker 3: But then down four linebackers.
- 19:32Speaker 6: But then he saw the forty nine ers come out
- 19:34Speaker 6: with a confidence, right they and they attacked Quenyon Mitchell
- 19:37Speaker 6: on the second play of the game of sixty one
- 19:39Speaker 6: yards to DeMarcus Robinson. They go four plays later again
- 19:43Speaker 6: at Quenyon Mitchell for the touchdown. They look they seem
- 19:46Speaker 6: to enter that game with a chip on their shoulder,
- 19:48Speaker 6: like they wanted to go in there and really prove something.
- 19:51Speaker 6: And I thought Kyle Shanahan did a tremendous job in
- 19:54Speaker 6: terms of play calling, schematically and all those things and
- 19:57Speaker 6: really took it to the Philadelphi Eagles and Adam I
- 19:59Speaker 6: got to say, I thought the middle of the field
- 20:01Speaker 6: for the Eagles defense got exploited big time, big time.
- 20:04Speaker 6: And I also thought they took advantage of the safety play.
- 20:07Speaker 6: I was wondering which team was going to be able
- 20:09Speaker 6: to do that. But I thought that Reed Blankenship at
- 20:11Speaker 6: Marcus EPs didn't have particularly strong games.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Yeah, that happens. Unfortunately. You know at the end of
- 20:16Speaker 5: every year as a player, you're gonna have games. You
- 20:18Speaker 5: want to play great every game. It's not gonna happen.
- 20:20Speaker 5: You'll have games and for whatever reason, these days you
- 20:22Speaker 5: played great, and there will be a couple where you
- 20:24Speaker 5: didn't play that great, and obviously you don't want one
- 20:27Speaker 5: of those to be in a playoff game, you know,
- 20:29Speaker 5: and that happens sometimes, you know, it's that perfect storm.
- 20:31Speaker 4: The other way. You mentioned Robinson, I mean, God bless him.
- 20:34Speaker 4: You know you look like Jerry Rice out there. What
- 20:36Speaker 4: do you have? Seven eight catches even yards?
- 20:38Speaker 3: Yeah, third one hundred yard game and only his third and.
- 20:42Speaker 5: That big play again mentally, what that does for a team?
- 20:44Speaker 5: That's sixty one yard play right off the bat?
- 20:47Speaker 3: Wow, Andrew, you know, it's crazy.
- 20:49Speaker 2: The Eagles finished the season, including the playoff, at five
- 20:51Speaker 2: and four, Okay, at home.
- 20:53Speaker 3: That is hard to believe at the link.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I would not have guessed that.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I knew it wasn't great. One game of a
- 21:00Speaker 2: five hundred, surprising me. But still unpacking this game. Even
- 21:06Speaker 2: even as poorly as they played overall, they still had
- 21:08Speaker 2: the lead late in the game and then they lost
- 21:11Speaker 2: it and then you saw the final play. But what
- 21:14Speaker 2: was Okay, let's take an overview because as we look
- 21:16Speaker 2: at this season, for both of you, because you watch
- 21:18Speaker 2: all the games, what was missing from this football team?
- 21:22Speaker 6: Explosive plays, a dynamic rushing attack. I mean, foundationally we
- 21:26Speaker 6: all know that that's what they want to do, and
- 21:29Speaker 6: it was a grind. It was tough sledding. In terms
- 21:31Speaker 6: of the running game, they weren't able to get that
- 21:32Speaker 6: going and that put a spotlight on everything else. But defensively,
- 21:36Speaker 6: you can't really ask for anything more than that. I
- 21:38Speaker 6: thought that they did a really good job oftentimes carrying
- 21:41Speaker 6: and picking up the tab for an offense that wasn't
- 21:44Speaker 6: reaching expectations. And that was a game where they needed
- 21:47Speaker 6: the offense to be able to help them out and
- 21:48Speaker 6: they weren't able to do it. So it's just been
- 21:50Speaker 6: something that has been a prevailing theme all season.
- 21:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of agree. You know, when you look
- 21:54Speaker 5: back to last year, every year is different. But besides Barkley,
- 21:57Speaker 5: the way it hurts ran the ball last year was
- 22:00Speaker 5: much different than when he ran this year.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Run this year. Yeah, and he that is such a
- 22:05Speaker 4: difference maker.
- 22:06Speaker 5: You know, when I understand you want to have too
- 22:09Speaker 5: many called runs the injury factor, but his ability to
- 22:12Speaker 5: run is so great. And you know you mentioned the defense.
- 22:14Speaker 5: I mean when they went up there and held Buffalo
- 22:16Speaker 5: to six points. I won't know how many times in
- 22:18Speaker 5: the last seven eight years in Buffalo Josh Allen offense
- 22:22Speaker 5: has been held to six points. I mean, their defense
- 22:25Speaker 5: I think was good enough to get it done this year.
- 22:27Speaker 4: I really do. We'll never know, but I think they were.
- 22:30Speaker 6: Sean brings up an interesting point about the running game.
- 22:33Speaker 6: When Jay when Hurst calls himself a triple threat. I
- 22:35Speaker 6: believe it was in twenty twenty three. He mentioned his arm,
- 22:39Speaker 6: his legs, and his mind. Well, when you take away
- 22:41Speaker 6: the running aspect, you are severely depriving the offense of
- 22:46Speaker 6: a component that makes them special.
- 22:48Speaker 4: And very also said also being that plus.
- 22:51Speaker 6: One in the running game unlocks the rushing attack as well.
- 22:54Speaker 6: So I think to Shawn's point, that was something that
- 22:57Speaker 6: was really glaring. When when you look back on the.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Season, he something crazy about to Marcus Robinson. He was
- 23:01Speaker 2: not even on the roster week one. He was actually
- 23:03Speaker 2: suspended for three games. I mean Ricky Piersoll, who was
- 23:07Speaker 2: their first round pick last year, didn't play. He's got
- 23:09Speaker 2: the PCLS brain. I'm just looking at this roster because
- 23:13Speaker 2: and you talked about excuses. Okay, hey, you can't find any.
- 23:18Speaker 2: But as a player, okay, let me ask this question.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Do you remember leading up to a game where coaches
- 23:24Speaker 2: seemed over confident.
- 23:25Speaker 3: You're head coach I have.
- 23:27Speaker 4: I can't say I have.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Most of the coaches I had, really, if anything, were like, hey,
- 23:33Speaker 5: I know there's teams one in eight, but five of
- 23:36Speaker 5: their losses are by four points or less. I mean,
- 23:38Speaker 5: you've got to go out and execute. I think all
- 23:40Speaker 5: the coaches I played for did a great job of that.
- 23:43Speaker 5: But that doesn't mean that collectively the players can't be
- 23:47Speaker 5: in that frame of mind. Of course, no players ever
- 23:49Speaker 5: going to admit that, but it could be human nature.
- 23:53Speaker 5: You know that, you look, you know the guy you're
- 23:54Speaker 5: playing against. He's hurt, and his backups hurt, and maybe
- 23:58Speaker 5: human nature is like playing against their third stringer. I'm
- 24:01Speaker 5: going to be okay, Maybe you might not be okay.
- 24:04Speaker 5: I mean, again, who knows Andrew.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Leading up to the game in the locker room last week?
- 24:09Speaker 2: What did you send from the players leading up? Confidence level?
- 24:11Speaker 4: Oh? They were upbeat out.
- 24:13Speaker 6: I would say that Thursday's locker room was probably the loudest,
- 24:17Speaker 6: most jovial that I can recall this season. And they
- 24:21Speaker 6: were a team that it felt like they were ready
- 24:24Speaker 6: for the moment. They've been there before. They knew that
- 24:26Speaker 6: their preparation was in order, and they were ready to
- 24:29Speaker 6: go play this game. And I mean I went into it,
- 24:32Speaker 6: you know, coupled with the fact that the forty nine
- 24:34Speaker 6: ers are banged up, knowing how the dynamic was with
- 24:37Speaker 6: the team and how the energy was was really positive.
- 24:40Speaker 6: You got the sense they were going to go out there.
- 24:42Speaker 6: I'm not saying put up twenty seven points, but they
- 24:44Speaker 6: were going to take it to the forty nine ers,
- 24:45Speaker 6: and that obviously didn't happen.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Yeah, very surprising.
- 24:49Speaker 5: Again, you know, they scored enough points to win the game,
- 24:51Speaker 5: but just again the opportunities so many that were missed,
- 24:54Speaker 5: and you know the forty nine or some of the
- 24:57Speaker 5: plays they made. I mean, you know, Perty's a good quarterback,
- 24:59Speaker 5: but wow. And again McCaffrey, he was. He was exciting
- 25:03Speaker 5: in the past game, right. They showed him down the
- 25:05Speaker 5: run game.
- 25:05Speaker 2: By the way, this is this segment is supposed to
- 25:08Speaker 2: be our injury review brought to you by the attorneys
- 25:10Speaker 2: at Begley, Carlin and Mandio. Contact them today for free consultation.
- 25:14Speaker 2: At two and five, it was six three six eight nine.
- 25:17Speaker 2: It's two one five. It was six three, six eight nine.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Well Andrew the big injury Lane Johnson out he wound
- 25:24Speaker 2: up missing two months of play and Fred Johnson the
- 25:27Speaker 2: yeoman's job.
- 25:27Speaker 3: But this, this FRONC injury is a serious deal.
- 25:30Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a serious injury. And he was listed as
- 25:33Speaker 6: limited Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Obviously you would like to have
- 25:36Speaker 6: seen a full participant designation on Friday. So it left
- 25:40Speaker 6: it up in the air and it seemed increasingly unlikely.
- 25:42Speaker 6: Fred Johnson after the game said that it wasn't until
- 25:45Speaker 6: Saturday that he realized that he got word that he
- 25:47Speaker 6: would be starting in that game. Oh, he did find
- 25:50Speaker 6: out that he found out on Saturday.
- 25:51Speaker 3: So basically, could did you see Lane Warmont? I don't know.
- 25:57Speaker 3: He wasn't.
- 25:58Speaker 4: That's the other thing.
- 25:59Speaker 6: So I was honest like you, I was on Lane
- 26:01Speaker 6: Johnson watch, watching pregame, and he wasn't out there. You
- 26:04Speaker 6: started to see the starting offensive lineman come out there.
- 26:07Speaker 6: Then you saw Fred Johnson go out there and start
- 26:10Speaker 6: to take combo block reps with aside from beside Tyler Steen,
- 26:13Speaker 6: and you're like, well, Lane's not.
- 26:15Speaker 2: So odd about that, because I was told he did
- 26:19Speaker 2: very living to work but look good on what they
- 26:20Speaker 2: asked him to do. Whatever he could do, So maybe
- 26:22Speaker 2: he worked woke up, you know, because Saturdays will walk
- 26:25Speaker 2: through day Sean, you could walk you could wake up
- 26:28Speaker 2: and go, man, my foot whatever.
- 26:29Speaker 3: This it's a right midfoot spring, which is a serious injury.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Maybe just felt he couldn't go and he let They
- 26:35Speaker 2: knew that, so they probably knew after the walk through.
- 26:37Speaker 2: That's when you said you're Saddenly. Fred said that he
- 26:39Speaker 2: told the reporters in the locker room he kind of
- 26:41Speaker 2: find out Saturday.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Well, and you never know.
- 26:43Speaker 5: I mean sometimes you have a setback late in the week.
- 26:46Speaker 5: You know, Wednesday, okay, it's a little better, Thursday better. Oh,
- 26:49Speaker 5: Friday it's coming along. Maybe you push it a little
- 26:51Speaker 5: bit and you wake up Saturday. Oh man, this is
- 26:53Speaker 5: back to Tuesday again. Doesn't always happen, but that could
- 26:56Speaker 5: have happened for you.
- 26:56Speaker 3: As a punter. Do you participate in the walkthrough?
- 26:59Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, we're all there because they go through every
- 27:02Speaker 5: special teams playing oh wow, okay, you know they it's
- 27:05Speaker 5: almost like a game, you know, first down, second down,
- 27:08Speaker 5: third down, situation pon team. Sure, you know, gonna punt
- 27:11Speaker 5: this way that way if you have a fake and
- 27:13Speaker 5: it's interesting you know with Andy. Andy loved to do fakes,
- 27:17Speaker 5: but you had to do it perfect Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
- 27:21Speaker 5: If the littlest insignificant thing wasn't right, he wouldn't run it.
- 27:26Speaker 5: Be like Andy, everything's perfect. That was a little muffin thing.
- 27:29Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no, it's got to be perfect.
- 27:31Speaker 4: But yeah, we go out there and we go through, you.
- 27:34Speaker 5: Know, punt, punt return, kickoff, kickoff return, you know everything
- 27:38Speaker 5: with everyone else. You know.
- 27:39Speaker 2: That makes makes me laugh showan because when the Eagles
- 27:41Speaker 2: practice the Philly Special leading up to the Super Bowl
- 27:43Speaker 2: and seventeen, they screwed it up so much Frank Breg said,
- 27:46Speaker 2: we're done, We're not doing anymore. I don't know John g.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Flippo told me this because I was like, what He's like, Dude,
- 27:53Speaker 2: you don't know the whole story because I know the players.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I've talked about it. I've talked to Zach Ertz about
- 27:58Speaker 2: it many years ago. But it isn't remarkable in that play,
- 28:01Speaker 2: that fully special play, how perfect it was the executioner.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Yeah it was.
- 28:04Speaker 5: And that's so surprising to me to hear because with Andy,
- 28:07Speaker 5: I know on the special teams plays maybe it was
- 28:09Speaker 5: different than offense, but man, if it wasn't perfect, you know,
- 28:12Speaker 5: and a lot of times it was perfect, and most
- 28:14Speaker 5: of the time it did work when we did Harps
- 28:16Speaker 5: was Harves your coach? Yes, he was here the five
- 28:18Speaker 5: years I was here. I really enjoyed working with him.
- 28:21Speaker 5: I think he's a terrific coach. You know, the way
- 28:23Speaker 5: he communicates with people, and you know, he's very cerebral,
- 28:26Speaker 5: knows the game and doesn't surprise me one bit he's
- 28:29Speaker 5: had the success he's had.
- 28:30Speaker 6: This this might make you laugh, and you know, I'm
- 28:32Speaker 6: kind of a special teams junkie. Were your gunners Rashard Cook.
- 28:35Speaker 4: And Damian Douglas.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Yes, and that's saying that's insane. Now you're going back
- 28:39Speaker 5: to ninety nine on twenty five years. That's twenty five
- 28:43Speaker 5: years ago. And both of them were outstanding. You know,
- 28:45Speaker 5: Damien was here first four years with me and you
- 28:49Speaker 5: know he was from cal Yeah, they were both Because
- 28:51Speaker 5: I know we were a little disappointed because they released
- 28:54Speaker 5: a guy who was a gunner the year before for
- 28:57Speaker 5: a couple of years who was great. I think he
- 28:59Speaker 5: went to Carolina. I forget who it was. Might have
- 29:01Speaker 5: been a receiver, but we were just like, oh man,
- 29:03Speaker 5: he was so good.
- 29:04Speaker 4: But they had to do that. But that's a great memory.
- 29:07Speaker 4: You know, only real people who understand.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Well, and Richard, he was a good.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Player, number four defensive. I might have been forty two.
- 29:15Speaker 3: I don't very good.
- 29:17Speaker 4: Is going back twenty five years.
- 29:18Speaker 6: Coaching out in California? Oh really Yeah, I spoke to
- 29:22Speaker 6: him about Jim oh so wild.
- 29:24Speaker 4: That's great to hear.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Did he play on d always her special team? He played?
- 29:27Speaker 4: Yeah, he did a good size.
- 29:29Speaker 3: He was like a pretty that's it.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Yes, that's a very well built.
- 29:32Speaker 6: He got a sack in the Bear Chicago, the Chicago
- 29:35Speaker 6: playoff game.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Sean, here's the thing growing up, because I shocked.
- 29:39Speaker 2: I think with Jim Fawenhorst. It was a left tackle
- 29:41Speaker 2: for the Niners. I remember Jim, so what happened is
- 29:43Speaker 2: is a kid Andrew. I learned players by number first,
- 29:45Speaker 2: not name. Now I can't keep track. Is a lot
- 29:48Speaker 2: to have any number. I don't know who's I literally,
- 29:50Speaker 2: I know Ringo is Ringo seventy seven. Yeah, but I
- 29:53Speaker 2: know Hurts is one. I know a J's Alett. But
- 29:55Speaker 2: like growing up in Philly, I could do the Flyers.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Bernie was one. I could go thirty five.
- 30:01Speaker 4: I don't.
- 30:01Speaker 3: I can't, I can't, I can't keep.
- 30:03Speaker 5: From sports today are so transient, ye you know, before
- 30:07Speaker 5: nineteen ninety three, we had no free agency in the NFL,
- 30:10Speaker 5: so we were crushed as far as what we could
- 30:12Speaker 5: get compensation wise. But we stayed in the same place
- 30:16Speaker 5: for a long time. And there's a lot to be
- 30:18Speaker 5: sent for that because the community got to know you.
- 30:20Speaker 5: People got to know you. They knew who you were.
- 30:22Speaker 5: You were there, you know them, and that that's something
- 30:25Speaker 5: that's missed. Most of these guys today missed that, and
- 30:27Speaker 5: that was a great thing.
- 30:28Speaker 3: That's why I knew you were number seven.
- 30:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I was five years I wore number seven, And
- 30:32Speaker 5: did you wear five for the Giants? I did wear
- 30:33Speaker 5: five for almost ten years there, you know, so that's
- 30:36Speaker 5: like fifteen years, you know, continuity, you know, that's right, That's.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Right, All right, guys.

- 32:48Speaker 2: It's Adam Kaplan, Andrew to Checko from Inside the Birds
- 32:50Speaker 2: and EGO Great Sean Landetta number seven when he was
- 32:53Speaker 2: with Eagles pots both times.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Both times.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Nice? Oh you know what? Actually, here's the question, Jaws
- 32:58Speaker 3: us seven. Do you have to ask permission?
- 33:01Speaker 5: Well, you know, I'll tell you a little of this
- 33:02Speaker 5: story go ahead, and a funny story about my number.
- 33:05Speaker 4: So I didn't have to. But just out of respect,
- 33:08Speaker 4: I asked Ron, I said, are you okay with me? Maries.
- 33:10Speaker 5: He said, absolutely, you didn't have to ask, but so
- 33:12Speaker 5: nice that you did. So I'm in Green Bay in
- 33:15Speaker 5: ninety eight. I'm going to go back coaching staff Leaf.
- 33:19Speaker 5: They all go to Seattle, and I don't know what
- 33:22Speaker 5: I'm gonna do. I'm an older player. I didn't know
- 33:24Speaker 5: where the Eagles hire Andy. He was our quarterback coach.
- 33:27Speaker 5: And do you know just you talk about it. Oh,
- 33:29Speaker 5: by the way, I'm in La on vacation.
- 33:31Speaker 3: You know what.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Give Andy a call, just say congrats, Andy, congrats on
- 33:34Speaker 4: the job. How you doing? He says, what are you doing?
- 33:36Speaker 4: I'm not sure?
- 33:37Speaker 5: Said the greatest words ever. Would you be interested in
- 33:39Speaker 5: competing for the job in Philly? I mean I almost
- 33:41Speaker 5: jumped through the phone because I grew up in Baltimore,
- 33:44Speaker 5: I'd played here in the USF and I lived in
- 33:45Speaker 5: New York. I mean I still had to make the team,
- 33:47Speaker 5: but he'd seen me practice every day and I was
- 33:49Speaker 5: still playing well. So we come to the first mini
- 33:52Speaker 5: camp and I'm going to wear number five. So I
- 33:55Speaker 5: wear five first mini camp before the draft. Thursday night
- 33:59Speaker 5: before the draft, Andy calls and he's like, hey, quick question,
- 34:03Speaker 5: you were number five in mini.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Camp, right? I said yeah.
- 34:06Speaker 5: He goes, would you be up to wearing another number? Possibly?
- 34:11Speaker 5: I said yeah, that's fine, and he goes, okay, because
- 34:15Speaker 5: you know, I want to draft the kid and he
- 34:17Speaker 5: really wants number five. So right there, he already knew it.
- 34:20Speaker 5: I knew who they were going to draft, you know.
- 34:24Speaker 5: And I remember I said, I said, you know what, Andy,
- 34:27Speaker 5: that's no problem, and it turned out to be true.
- 34:29Speaker 5: I said that kid's probably going to be here ten
- 34:31Speaker 5: years and I hope he does well.
- 34:33Speaker 4: And if that's that's.
- 34:33Speaker 5: Important to him, no worries, that's awesome. And I kind
- 34:38Speaker 5: of felt bad after the second part.
- 34:40Speaker 4: He goes, what else have you worn? I said, I've
- 34:42Speaker 4: worn five and.
- 34:43Speaker 5: Seven and he goes, okay, uh, you know, we'll see
- 34:47Speaker 5: if seven becomes available. I said, okay, no problem, and
- 34:50Speaker 5: that was it. Then a little later I thought to myself,
- 34:53Speaker 5: I wonder if there's a seven on the team, and
- 34:55Speaker 5: I looked up and it was Bobby Hoyne.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Oh yeah, right a way.
- 34:58Speaker 5: I first thought was when he said, well maybe that
- 35:02Speaker 5: could be available, I'm like, that mean Bobby's.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Not here exactly.
- 35:05Speaker 3: He gave me really good you know, but don.
- 35:08Speaker 5: And I told him that story with his father after
- 35:11Speaker 5: his career, and his eyes got big. Donovant, I said, Donovant,
- 35:14Speaker 5: I could have charged you ten grand like other acts too,
- 35:16Speaker 5: and I just didn't feel good. I said, you know
- 35:18Speaker 5: what I'd like? He said what I said, can you
- 35:19Speaker 5: buy me a vanilla milkshake? I said, no problem. I
- 35:22Speaker 5: still haven't.
- 35:23Speaker 4: I'm still waiting for it. Yeah.
- 35:25Speaker 5: But anyway, the reason McNab wre five because Andy said, look,
- 35:29Speaker 5: you know you're the veteran with the most experienced you
- 35:31Speaker 5: don't have to do this. I said, I understand if
- 35:33Speaker 5: it's that big a deal. So that's how Donovan got
- 35:35Speaker 5: number five.
- 35:36Speaker 6: How about that's a that's a great story.
- 35:38Speaker 2: So it's unpacked it I'm like, wow, that's crazy. By
- 35:40Speaker 2: the way, this segment is sponsored by our friends at
- 35:43Speaker 2: Penworth Financial. Call them today two sixty seven nine ninety
- 35:47Speaker 2: seven four five oh three or visit them at Penworth
- 35:50Speaker 2: dot com. So Sean you brought up before this last break, Hey,
- 35:56Speaker 2: he goes have a lot of free agents. Well guess
- 35:58Speaker 2: what they do, and we're gonna get started. So here,
- 36:01Speaker 2: we're gonna go over all of them. And obviously there's
- 36:02Speaker 2: some key ones we'll go over the we'll go with
- 36:04Speaker 2: the guys quickly that probably won't be here. Can I
- 36:07Speaker 2: ask how many free agency I'm going to have a
- 36:09Speaker 2: I think about roughly twenty twenty. Now you got to
- 36:14Speaker 2: understand a lot of guys in one year deals.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Okay, but still twenty damn how.
- 36:18Speaker 2: They made the trade? That's a lot yep. Aj Dillon
- 36:21Speaker 2: was on a one year deal. Johan Dodson's contract is expiring.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Dallas Gott resigned for a one year deal. Colin Granson
- 36:28Speaker 2: was on a one year deal. Fred Johnson was on
- 36:30Speaker 2: a one year deal. Brett Toath's contract expired, Matt Prior
- 36:33Speaker 2: was in a one year deal. Jenleen Phillips is on
- 36:36Speaker 2: expiring contract. Josh Usha on a one year deal. Obo Conker,
- 36:39Speaker 2: who suffered a major injury, is on a one year deal.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Brandon Graham, of course, is on a one year deal.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Nakobe's contract, Dean's constracts is expiring. Zizo Jela one year,
- 36:49Speaker 2: four million, his contract expiring. Jorry Jackson he signed one year.
- 36:55Speaker 2: This Mike said, Howie record for one year deals, Marcus
- 36:58Speaker 2: Apps one year deal and reads read blankaship right now,
- 37:00Speaker 2: we'll have his contract extension contract expire.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Excuse me, it's a lot.
- 37:04Speaker 6: Yeah, there's there's there's great Man.
- 37:06Speaker 3: I'm sorry, braid Man.
- 37:07Speaker 6: Yeah, he can't forget Braden Man. Yeah, there there's a
- 37:09Speaker 6: there's a lot of expiring contracts. You mentioned Sam Howese.
- 37:13Speaker 6: I'm looking at your list here. I would try to
- 37:16Speaker 6: find a way to bring him back, depending on what
- 37:18Speaker 6: you're able to do with with with McKee. To have
- 37:20Speaker 6: someone like Sam House if they if they're if they're
- 37:24Speaker 6: able to move off of McKee and trade them, Depending
- 37:26Speaker 6: it would make sense to have someone there like a
- 37:28Speaker 6: Sam Howe to be the number two. Sure, and then
- 37:30Speaker 6: but then the big question becomes the Kobe Dean read
- 37:33Speaker 6: blanket Ship. Jalen Phillips, I mean, NA, Kobe Dean is
- 37:38Speaker 6: the heartbeat of the Eagles defense. That being said, the
- 37:40Speaker 6: Eagles drafted Jahide Campbell in the first round for a reason.
- 37:43Speaker 6: It's a luxury to have three starting caliber linebackers, not
- 37:47Speaker 6: a necessity. So it's hard for me to envision n
- 37:49Speaker 6: Kobe Dean coming back. Read Blankenship didn't have a particularly
- 37:52Speaker 6: good season from a coverage standpoint, but vic Vango really
- 37:55Speaker 6: likes him. He's smart, He's always in the right spot,
- 37:58Speaker 6: and that goes a long way when and you consider
- 38:01Speaker 6: the fact that safeties and linebackers have a considerable responsibility
- 38:04Speaker 6: in a Vic Fangio defense. Still, though, I think you
- 38:07Speaker 6: could stand to get a little bit more athletic on
- 38:09Speaker 6: the back end. Pairsonbody with Drew mccouba, and that's kind
- 38:12Speaker 6: of the way that I'm seeing that.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Well. Speaking of that, the big question is where does
- 38:16Speaker 3: Cooper Degene play next year? Is he a nickel?
- 38:18Speaker 6: Yeah, safety, I think he's a nickel And he mentioned
- 38:21Speaker 6: that during clean out that he really likes playing there.
- 38:24Speaker 6: He goes, I'll do whatever they need me to do.
- 38:25Speaker 3: That's the point.
- 38:26Speaker 4: He said.
- 38:26Speaker 6: He likes being involved with the run and things like that,
- 38:28Speaker 6: and Vic Vangil most importantly likes having him there for
- 38:32Speaker 6: all those reasons.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Because there was Sean there was a there was a
- 38:36Speaker 2: discussion around the league when Degene was drafted because you know,
- 38:39Speaker 2: he was strictly a corner at at Iowa. You know,
- 38:44Speaker 2: would he be a good corner at the at the
- 38:46Speaker 2: NFL level because that one of the reasons why he
- 38:47Speaker 2: was not a first round pick is clubs were unsure
- 38:50Speaker 2: because he's a great athlete, what do you line him
- 38:52Speaker 2: up corner, safety or Nickel and Vic Fancher's way carries
- 38:57Speaker 2: a lot. You actually were with Vic with the Stars
- 38:59Speaker 2: in eighty five, so you know when he was in
- 39:02Speaker 2: his twenties crazy, But when you look at it, Vic
- 39:05Speaker 2: is a genius. I don't know if you knew it
- 39:08Speaker 2: then in his twenties, well, we couldn't know it then.
- 39:10Speaker 2: For actually, nineteen eighty three, I'm sorry. He was a
- 39:13Speaker 2: a three forty three years ago. You know, he was
- 39:15Speaker 2: kind of an assistant, helping out, and nobody could know
- 39:18Speaker 2: he was going to be. But boy, he was around
- 39:20Speaker 2: great coaches and what a career he's had.
- 39:22Speaker 5: Jim Johnson, you around him a little bit, yes, Jim,
- 39:24Speaker 5: the five years I was here, what'd you think, Oh,
- 39:27Speaker 5: Jim Johnson.
- 39:28Speaker 4: You know it's interesting.
- 39:29Speaker 5: I tell people there's never been you look at a
- 39:32Speaker 5: head coaching a coaching photo of an NFL team, eight
- 39:37Speaker 5: guys off of that coaching staff between ninety nine and
- 39:40Speaker 5: five became head coaches. There's never been eight guys off
- 39:44Speaker 5: one staff become head coaches. And the one guy who
- 39:48Speaker 5: wasn't was the most coveted. That was Jim Johnson. Jim
- 39:51Speaker 5: told me personally he turned down the forty nine er job.
- 39:54Speaker 5: I was having lunch with him one time in there,
- 39:57Speaker 5: and you know, he was coveted and he interviewed with
- 40:00Speaker 5: forty nine ers and it just didn't work out. But
- 40:02Speaker 5: he could have been a head coach, There's no doubt.
- 40:06Speaker 5: And can you imagine nine guys. You know, Sean McDermott
- 40:10Speaker 5: was an assistant d back coach. Les Fraser was our
- 40:15Speaker 5: d bat coach. Spagnolo was our assistant d bat coach.
- 40:19Speaker 5: Ron Ron Rivera was our linebacker coach Shermer was our
- 40:24Speaker 5: tight end coach. My coach, John Harball. Brad Childress was
- 40:29Speaker 5: our offensive coordinator receivers coach David Cully.
- 40:33Speaker 2: I got one more for you who coming to maybe
- 40:37Speaker 2: I think you were. Were you there with Ron Rivera? Yes, yeah,
- 40:41Speaker 2: came a head coach.
- 40:42Speaker 4: No we mentioned.
- 40:43Speaker 5: I think I just named the age assistance and that
- 40:46Speaker 5: doesn't count. Yeah, you know who was the most covered
- 40:49Speaker 5: we got? You know, think about that off and this
- 40:51Speaker 5: is when coach has only had fourteen guys. Now there's
- 40:53Speaker 5: twenty five coaches exactly. I mean, is that crazy? Go
- 40:56Speaker 5: back and look at one of those coaching pictures back then,
- 40:59Speaker 5: and it's just unbelievable.
- 41:01Speaker 3: So this this one's interesting. Dallas Goddter had an obviously career.
- 41:04Speaker 3: He was great.
- 41:05Speaker 2: He's now thirty one years old. They have no one
- 41:09Speaker 2: to replace him, Okay, no one, No one on the
- 41:11Speaker 2: roster could replace him. Andrew to me, I think you
- 41:14Speaker 2: take the same approach with him if he's willing to
- 41:16Speaker 2: a one year deal for like ten million.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Now I know the Eagles have a bunch of gussy.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Could extend Tyler not Chilish, Tyler Stet talking to get
- 41:23Speaker 2: He's eligible to get his contract extend, but it's not
- 41:25Speaker 2: going to get done. Ojomo Carter, Jorin Davison, Nolan Smith.
- 41:29Speaker 2: I don't see donland Smith getting extended. But getting back
- 41:32Speaker 2: to Dallas Godder. He hit a great year and we'll
- 41:35Speaker 2: see what the new OC does with whoever the tight
- 41:38Speaker 2: end is. But wouldn't you consider bringing god Her back?
- 41:41Speaker 6: Yeah, I wouldn't even think twice about it. I would
- 41:44Speaker 6: if it's a modest deal and it works out, you
- 41:46Speaker 6: bring him back on a one year deal. You draft
- 41:48Speaker 6: the tight end, ideally with the in the second or
- 41:50Speaker 6: third round to develop and learn under him, and then
- 41:53Speaker 6: take the reins when Dallas Goddard eventually moves on. But
- 41:56Speaker 6: It's hard to envision a team thing being willing to
- 41:59Speaker 6: throw the at Dallas Goddard at thirty one years old.
- 42:02Speaker 6: But I will say that watching him in the postgame
- 42:05Speaker 6: locker room, he had tears in his eyes, and well, yeah,
- 42:08Speaker 6: and Jordanilata said that he didn't start crying until he
- 42:11Speaker 6: saw Dallas Goddard because they played together for eight years,
- 42:14Speaker 6: and you never know if it's going to be the
- 42:15Speaker 6: last time to play with somebody. And that's the human
- 42:17Speaker 6: aspect that I think gets lost in this.
- 42:19Speaker 4: But yeah, I would.
- 42:21Speaker 6: I would if i'd the egles, I'm bringing him back.
- 42:23Speaker 5: What a run on tight ends, right, Brent Selick, zach
- 42:26Speaker 5: Ertz and Dallas Goddard. I mean, that's twenty years of
- 42:30Speaker 5: really good tight ends.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Sean, When you would, let's say your contract was up
- 42:34Speaker 2: right and it was the last game to se whether
- 42:35Speaker 2: it was a playoffs, regular seas would say you're goodbyes
- 42:37Speaker 2: hit guys, I may not see you again.
- 42:38Speaker 4: I would never say that. I think about it.
- 42:41Speaker 5: I think about it. You know, you kind of look
- 42:43Speaker 5: around and you think, you know this reality. You know
- 42:45Speaker 5: this guy right here next to me for the last
- 42:47Speaker 5: four years, you know, see him every day I may
- 42:50Speaker 5: never see him again, you know, if I hits up
- 42:52Speaker 5: signing in Phoenix and he goes somewhere else.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Who was your locker neighbor? Well at who was it?
- 42:58Speaker 4: What was NW Miracles?
- 43:00Speaker 5: So it was Acres was two I think over at
- 43:04Speaker 5: the Vet Acres McNabb, me koy detmer aj Feely, you know,
- 43:10Speaker 5: it was like five or six, then a brilliant fourteen
- 43:12Speaker 5: I think, yeah, Phely fourteen probably yeah, yeah, because so
- 43:16Speaker 5: that's how they did it there.

- 45:20Speaker 2: Inside the Birds and our good friend Seawan Landetta, former
- 45:23Speaker 2: Eagles punter.
- 45:24Speaker 3: We should be in the Hall of Fame.
- 45:25Speaker 4: By the way, Well, thank you. Maybe one day I've
- 45:27Speaker 4: been on the I don't know.
- 45:28Speaker 3: How you're not. You're in every other, every other You've
- 45:30Speaker 3: been voted everything.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Yeah, well deserved saying that.
- 45:33Speaker 5: I've been on the ballot the last thirteen years. So
- 45:36Speaker 5: maybe the old timers we'll see. But it's just nice
- 45:38Speaker 5: to be nice.
- 45:40Speaker 4: To be on there. I'll be there, and I'll be
- 45:41Speaker 4: there when that day happen.
- 45:42Speaker 5: You know what happens, You're going. You guys will be
- 45:45Speaker 5: their VIP if I go on. I appreciate it. Andrew,
- 45:48Speaker 5: I absolutely I went.
- 45:49Speaker 2: When I worked at ESPN, I work with drum battist
- 45:52Speaker 2: and Bill Pollan. I had never been there. I was like,
- 45:56Speaker 2: I drove there. I was like, I'll drive. I gotta
- 45:58Speaker 2: go because I knew Bill better than I knew Bus.
- 46:01Speaker 2: But Jerome's the nicest guy in the world. And Bill
- 46:04Speaker 2: just learned to be able to sit in a production
- 46:06Speaker 2: meeting with this guy it was just like, is this
- 46:08Speaker 2: really happening?
- 46:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't even imagine how it's really cool.
- 46:10Speaker 2: But all right, guys, so this is our last segment
- 46:13Speaker 2: here and we've talked about the game. Also, we should
- 46:16Speaker 2: mention again Kevin Petula being replaced as offensive coordinator. It's
- 46:21Speaker 2: always fascinating with the Eagles because even when they make
- 46:23Speaker 2: the playoffs, they make changes and Sean, this is one
- 46:26Speaker 2: of the things I appreciate with Jeffer Leurey. I'm sorry
- 46:28Speaker 2: that Kevin Petouol lost his job, but it's demanding of excellence.
- 46:32Speaker 2: And to start the show, you know, I asked you
- 46:34Speaker 2: about if you knew what really the word around coaches
- 46:38Speaker 2: who have worked in that building is you better have
- 46:40Speaker 2: a world class offense. There's pressure, there's pressure, but how
- 46:43Speaker 2: he does a great job of getting players, but you gotta.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Win with them and that's the name of the game.
- 46:47Speaker 5: Well, there's no question you look at those players on
- 46:49Speaker 5: that offense. I mean, the way they're paid, the quality
- 46:52Speaker 5: of those players, it absolutely is good enough to win
- 46:55Speaker 5: a Super Bowl.
- 46:55Speaker 4: We saw that last year.
- 46:56Speaker 5: And you know, if he wants offense, he's got and
- 47:00Speaker 5: how he's done a great job and for the most part,
- 47:02Speaker 5: the players have played well. Now, we talked before, sometimes
- 47:05Speaker 5: you don't have a good game at the worst time.
- 47:07Speaker 5: You saw what happened with Brown the other day. But
- 47:10Speaker 5: they've got offensive players. I mean, they'll they'll resign who
- 47:13Speaker 5: they feel, they'll draft, They'll probably get a few free agents.
- 47:16Speaker 5: But you know, I feel with the quarterback, you know,
- 47:19Speaker 5: and the pieces they have in place, this offense looks
- 47:22Speaker 5: good for a while. I know things change year to year,
- 47:24Speaker 5: but you know, Jalen, he's still young as much more's
- 47:28Speaker 5: veteran as Yeah, he's not thirty one or thirty two,
- 47:31Speaker 5: you know what I mean, He's still coming into his
- 47:33Speaker 5: prime as great as he's been. But it'll be interesting
- 47:36Speaker 5: to see what they do offensive wise, especially for the fact,
- 47:38Speaker 5: like you said, Jeffrey, he really you know, cherishes that.
- 47:41Speaker 3: Andrew, where's this team right now?
- 47:43Speaker 2: Is this.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Good? Very good? Needs a lot? Like where do you
- 47:47Speaker 3: see this team right now?
- 47:49Speaker 6: I mean, it's a good football team, But philosophically, they're
- 47:52Speaker 6: going to have to change some things if they want
- 47:54Speaker 6: the offense to be able to match the talent that
- 47:57Speaker 6: they have. Defensively, you're gonna have to start making some
- 48:00Speaker 6: decisions and signing some of these players, because as we
- 48:03Speaker 6: just looked at, there are some difficult young players who
- 48:06Speaker 6: you need to be able to retain. But I think
- 48:08Speaker 6: this is a good football team. And as long as
- 48:10Speaker 6: Nick Sirianni's there and the leadership Jeffrey Lorie, Howie Roseman
- 48:14Speaker 6: and Jay when Hurts is the quarterback, I think they're
- 48:16Speaker 6: gonna be just fine.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:19Speaker 2: To me, it's a good mixture of some veterans and
- 48:22Speaker 2: young talent. But they got to get on the same
- 48:24Speaker 2: pitch with their offense. They got we know it's gonna
- 48:27Speaker 2: go through the run game, we get that, but they're
- 48:29Speaker 2: gonna have to find, Sean a coordinator who's gonna want it,
- 48:32Speaker 2: not like coach hurt Tops you're coming here, you know
- 48:33Speaker 2: you're coaching them, but it's got to figure out how
- 48:36Speaker 2: to get the best of them. And that has not
- 48:38Speaker 2: been able to happen since twenty two and then, quite frankly,
- 48:41Speaker 2: the league Andrew and Sean once they saw what the
- 48:44Speaker 2: Eagles were trying to do with a deep.
- 48:46Speaker 3: Pass the game. Ever since then, not all.
- 48:49Speaker 2: They basically don't get consistently deep with the pass game
- 48:52Speaker 2: anymore for whatever reason.
- 48:53Speaker 5: And that's surprising because you look at their two receivers,
- 48:56Speaker 5: they're terrific, and he said, we all know Hurts throws
- 48:58Speaker 5: a great deep ball. I mean, you know that's got
- 49:01Speaker 5: to come back very quickly. I would think this would
- 49:03Speaker 5: be a very coveted. I mean, if I'm an offensive coordinator,
- 49:05Speaker 5: not many places I'd want to call more than this
- 49:08Speaker 5: with my quarterback, that running back and those receivers, you know,
- 49:11Speaker 5: and knowing that they want to throw the ball. I mean,
- 49:14Speaker 5: they should be able to attract the top notch or
- 49:16Speaker 5: maybe the best coordinator out there, and.
- 49:18Speaker 6: If they do well, they're likely to be considerable very quickly.
- 49:21Speaker 5: But geez, again, any coach you want to come into
- 49:24Speaker 5: situation where your players are terrific, how many teams out
- 49:27Speaker 5: of thirty two in this league, the running back, the quarterback,
- 49:30Speaker 5: and the two receivers, maybe you can only equal is
- 49:33Speaker 5: what the Eagles put out there.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Andrew, my one concern on offense, other than getting Hurts
- 49:38Speaker 2: back or trying to get him.
- 49:39Speaker 4: To prove the offensive line you got it.
- 49:41Speaker 2: You're going there because I just and Andrew, You and
- 49:44Speaker 2: I have talked about this on on on our show
- 49:46Speaker 2: here Pro Football Report many times.
- 49:49Speaker 3: We didn't see this coming. Their regression was major. It
- 49:52Speaker 3: wasn't slight. It was significant. Now let's go left.
- 49:55Speaker 2: The right Jordan my lot as I've heard and I
- 49:57Speaker 2: think Jeff said he kind of confirmed this. He felt
- 49:59Speaker 2: your beat up.
- 50:00Speaker 6: He just said that all season.
- 50:03Speaker 3: Okay, okay, okay.
- 50:05Speaker 2: So that's a left tackle, so he just is got
- 50:07Speaker 2: to get off his feet right. The left guard is
- 50:10Speaker 2: is Lannon Dickerson. He did not have a good year.
- 50:14Speaker 2: I don't know what his weight is. He he's had
- 50:18Speaker 2: a bunch of surgeries. He's had I think at least
- 50:21Speaker 2: four knee surgeries in his career.
- 50:22Speaker 6: Well, he's had at least four or five different injuries
- 50:24Speaker 6: this season alone.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Sean, So let me it's a former player. When
- 50:30Speaker 2: you feel beat up, do you say I got to
- 50:32Speaker 2: decompressed for a coup? Like, how do you get your
- 50:34Speaker 2: your mojo back at your energy and feel good?
- 50:37Speaker 5: Well, that's very difficult because most of the time their
- 50:39Speaker 5: injuries are worse than players will say. You want to play,
- 50:42Speaker 5: you know how you feel, I'm feeling pretty good.
- 50:43Speaker 4: You're not.
- 50:44Speaker 5: But you want to play, you know, so you're gonna practice. Really,
- 50:46Speaker 5: you're heard a little more than you should. Well, you
- 50:48Speaker 5: never want another guy to come in and play behind you,
- 50:50Speaker 5: even if you're a great player, and there's no doubt. Again,
- 50:53Speaker 5: you talk about excuse. I don't think it's an excuse.
- 50:57Speaker 5: If Lane Johnson or Dickerson or these other guys aren't
- 51:01Speaker 5: who the name on the back of their jersey says
- 51:03Speaker 5: they are because of the injuries, that's a legitimate reason.
- 51:06Speaker 5: You know, people say injuries don't matter. We'll take out
- 51:08Speaker 5: your five best players and tell me that's not an excuse,
- 51:11Speaker 5: it's reality. Of course, you know, it's a legit reason.
- 51:14Speaker 5: So there's no question to me that that was probably
- 51:16Speaker 5: part of it. I mean, we'll never know, but if
- 51:18Speaker 5: Lane Johnson is Lane Johnson healthy out there the whole
- 51:21Speaker 5: time and did the same thing with him, things different.
- 51:24Speaker 5: We don't know, but there's a ninety percent chance it
- 51:26Speaker 5: would have been different for the better.
- 51:27Speaker 6: And Cam Jurgens as well.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Another one, another one. You're talking three of the five
- 51:31Speaker 4: guys right there.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Greg.
- 51:33Speaker 2: You know, Greg did our show inside the tape the
- 51:35Speaker 2: offensive We were not like going We're seawn last week's game.
- 51:39Speaker 2: I want to ask Greg about the season. Get I
- 51:41Speaker 2: gotta be honest, it's totally tape based information. Hit a
- 51:46Speaker 2: bad season he wouldn't himself and having back surgery. We
- 51:51Speaker 2: know for fact that at Nebraska he had lower body issues.
- 51:55Speaker 2: The guy's are really good athlete, sewing a really good
- 51:57Speaker 2: football player, but man, when you're not right physically, and
- 51:59Speaker 2: let's not forget their all season went longer because they
- 52:01Speaker 2: won Super Bowl, so you know, you know, when you're
- 52:05Speaker 2: in the deep of the playoffs, man, your body.
- 52:08Speaker 5: And again a player, unfortunately, because that will sound like
- 52:11Speaker 5: an excuse, why didn't you play better? Well, I'm not
- 52:14Speaker 5: one hundred percent. I'm really beat up. You know, no
- 52:16Speaker 5: one wants to hear it. You can't say even though
- 52:18Speaker 5: that's a legitimate reason, you'd say, you're not gonna say that.
- 52:22Speaker 5: But let's see, we'll never know. Next year everything could
- 52:24Speaker 5: be so much better. And it's like, what was the difference?
- 52:26Speaker 4: Well, you never know. Three or five linemen all of
- 52:28Speaker 4: a sudden they're healthy again.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Yeah, this defense.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Andrew h very pleasantly surprised at how they turn things
- 52:35Speaker 2: around after really after the Jalen Phillips trade. I know
- 52:36Speaker 2: he'd have a ton of sacks. Pressure a was good,
- 52:39Speaker 2: but he did a good job. They seem to get
- 52:42Speaker 2: better after that trade. Do you what's the state of
- 52:45Speaker 2: the defense right now.
- 52:46Speaker 6: Well, I mean his contracts up, so that's that's gonna
- 52:48Speaker 6: be key. I they think his arrival coincided with Jaywalkes
- 52:51Speaker 6: Hunts breakout was the Eagles best pass rusher late in
- 52:55Speaker 6: the season. I think Jalen Phillips, knowing his age and
- 52:59Speaker 6: how he impacts the players around him, would be beneficial
- 53:01Speaker 6: to try and find a way to get him under contract.
- 53:04Speaker 6: But then you have someone like Drew mccooba. And I
- 53:06Speaker 6: saw Drew mccooba at at Dorian Locker clean out. He
- 53:10Speaker 6: fractured his fibula. He's still in a walking boot. That's
- 53:12Speaker 6: he supposed to come off soon and he's hoping to
- 53:15Speaker 6: be back for spring practices. But that's another young player
- 53:18Speaker 6: that I think you can count on next season, adding
- 53:20Speaker 6: some athleticism to the back end. Of course, you have
- 53:22Speaker 6: Quinna Mitchell and Cooper dejen and some of those younger
- 53:25Speaker 6: players on the defensive line as well that I think
- 53:28Speaker 6: they're in a really good spot.
- 53:31Speaker 5: Well, again, you look at the defense, how good they
- 53:33Speaker 5: were we talked about before, you know, so many games.
- 53:36Speaker 5: You know, they kept him in again, that Buffalo game
- 53:38Speaker 5: was unbelievable. How they kept that offense to only six points.
- 53:41Speaker 5: So you know again, you know, I'm almost going to
- 53:43Speaker 5: look back at how he's just amazing how he's been
- 53:45Speaker 5: able to keep getting good players on that defense. You know,
- 53:49Speaker 5: you mentioned Dean, He's really a good ballplayer. They're going
- 53:52Speaker 5: to bring him back. I'd like to think they will
- 53:55Speaker 5: tough it. Campbe's got to play. Yeah, I know, but
- 53:58Speaker 5: this guy's a good play.
- 54:00Speaker 3: You know. Hate to walk away from that, I know,
- 54:02Speaker 3: I know.
- 54:02Speaker 6: I made sure that I walked up to him yesterday,
- 54:05Speaker 6: shook his hand, thanked him for the time and the
- 54:07Speaker 6: professionalism that he showed over the four years that I
- 54:10Speaker 6: got to cover him. And he said he doesn't want
- 54:12Speaker 6: to be anywhere else.
- 54:13Speaker 4: So we'll see what happens.
- 54:15Speaker 3: Each actually changed agents.
- 54:16Speaker 5: So and with the way and with the way they
- 54:19Speaker 5: can work the cap, we all this is the most
- 54:22Speaker 5: softest cap in the history of the world. You know,
- 54:24Speaker 5: in real money, you can pay out three hundred and
- 54:27Speaker 5: fifty million, but the cap says, I'm prevent corract.
- 54:30Speaker 3: It's ridiculous.
- 54:31Speaker 4: It really is.
- 54:31Speaker 3: The way that Eagles they found this.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Bryce Johnson, who works in their salary cap department, found
- 54:36Speaker 2: this sort of loophole. They have option bonuses in every
- 54:40Speaker 2: veterans contract. So what happens is they they through the
- 54:43Speaker 2: contract second year, it looks like the base salary might
- 54:46Speaker 2: be a million, but they have to exercise the option bonus.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Then the money jumps up. But the early part of
- 54:52Speaker 2: the contract is low. Then it starts growing. And now
- 54:55Speaker 2: Sean with a bunch of free agents, a lot of
- 54:57Speaker 2: the citizens to make. Andrew, I wonder if they'll get
- 55:00Speaker 2: their d lineman all done this year. I know we're
- 55:02Speaker 2: they're gonna probably get one or two, but they have
- 55:04Speaker 2: three guys are up for extension.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Be interesting.
- 55:06Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll see.
- 55:09Speaker 6: Obviously, the injuries are going to be a factor here
- 55:11Speaker 6: when you look at Jay when Carter and the shoulder and.
- 55:13Speaker 4: Things that both.
- 55:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that's something that they could come into play.
- 55:16Speaker 6: Moro Jomo has been a really good story of development
- 55:20Speaker 6: for a seventh round pick, six sacks this season, and
- 55:23Speaker 6: I think they want to find a way to keep
- 55:25Speaker 6: him in house as well.
- 55:27Speaker 3: All Right, everyone, we thank you for listening. This is
- 55:29Speaker 3: a profobal report.
- 55:30Speaker 2: We will be at Chicken Peaton, Marlton, New Jersey next
- 55:34Speaker 2: week next Tuesday at six pm Eastern. We thank our
- 55:37Speaker 2: special guests show Landetta. Thanks for Bringer to Checko Adam Kaplan.
- 55:41Speaker 3: We'll see you next week.
