- 0:03Speaker 1: For all your mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast,
- 0:08Speaker 1: Get up even Closer on Instagram, YouTube and picture off
- 0:12Speaker 1: for for targets for de sit every weekday on radio.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, hello, hell, good eh ah. One kind of in
- 0:26Speaker 2: summary gear. Kind of you just in your normal T shirt, Maggie.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm always in a T shirt man.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Yeah, come here you are. Actually I very rarely see
- 0:37Speaker 2: you in a ship anything else.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Yes, Yes, we were.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Just chatting about Alie Cartour and the league, right getting
- 0:43Speaker 3: knocked out. Ali Cartour stable condition after seizure activity ongoing surgery,
- 0:49Speaker 3: had a brain bleed and the cidery was to release
- 0:52Speaker 3: fluid and relieve pressure on his brain. That's what made
- 0:55Speaker 3: Ti Mighty Martin have to retire medically from the NRL. Yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 3: and it's completely unnecessary, completely unnecessary. There's absolutely screwed.
- 1:03Speaker 4: And that was what like after the game.
- 1:06Speaker 5: Yeah, they're talking about halfway through or towards the end
- 1:09Speaker 5: of the second half when I got stretchered off.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Yes, the reason they brought him off was because of
- 1:14Speaker 1: the bleeding.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Apparently that's the reason why, and that was the only
- 1:17Speaker 3: reason why they kept bring him or they brought him
- 1:18Speaker 3: off right like otherwise I would have left him out
- 1:21Speaker 3: there still, and he was completely efft.
- 1:22Speaker 2: That is a shocking election of duty there.
- 1:27Speaker 3: That is because he's one of the best back well
- 1:29Speaker 3: he's probably the best back row in the competition.
- 1:31Speaker 5: And that's the problem, right, So we've got to have
- 1:32Speaker 5: him out him out there, and so yeah, and was
- 1:36Speaker 5: in tears.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I can imagine, you know, he was like literally balling
- 1:40Speaker 2: his eyes out.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Yeah, he was crying because he was like, what have
- 1:43Speaker 4: I done? What have I done?
- 1:45Speaker 5: But great game though, great game is a lot of fun,
- 1:49Speaker 5: and particularly in comparison to the All Blacks I've earlier
- 1:51Speaker 5: that day in terms of entertainment value, crowd involvement, what
- 1:56Speaker 5: about the singing from the tongue and fans, it was
- 1:58Speaker 5: like it was over the louds for unbelievable.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Initially thought it was a recording.
- 2:02Speaker 1: It was so beautiful. It was stunning. Yes, but just
- 2:06Speaker 1: all go the whole time.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Having that atmosphere at Eden Park. Yes, it can be done, Yes,
- 2:11Speaker 3: it can be done. The last time there was an
- 2:12Speaker 3: atmosphere there was twenty fifteen Cricket World Cup and since
- 2:16Speaker 3: then there's never any atmosphere.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's and that's it.
- 2:20Speaker 2: There was no comparison between the rugby and the league,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and I was just ifing and jeff in my way
- 2:26Speaker 2: throughout that entire all black testament.
- 2:28Speaker 1: So it was a.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Debarkle and then cheering and screw because I I think
- 2:32Speaker 5: people might think that I hate it, but I was
- 2:34Speaker 5: when We're getting those tries and I'm screaming the house down.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Sure, I'm the same.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I think that.
- 2:39Speaker 5: The only thing that annoys me is you've got these
- 2:41Speaker 5: great players and it just yeah.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And what a crowd there, man, How magnificent did that look?
- 2:49Speaker 2: And then they've got and they haven't sorted up the
- 2:51Speaker 2: technical side of it, and so they go, oh, we
- 2:53Speaker 2: haven't got that.
- 2:54Speaker 4: We haven't got the angles on that. Sorry.
- 2:56Speaker 5: So there was a head high right at the start,
- 2:58Speaker 5: so they needed the third umpire needed to show the
- 3:00Speaker 5: empire on the ground, the reef on the ground, but
- 3:03Speaker 5: the third Empire wasn't connected, so it couldn't show. I
- 3:08Speaker 5: couldn't shot, So it was without a word of lie.
- 3:10Speaker 5: The game stopped for ten minutes. Oh wow, the first
- 3:12Speaker 5: half took like fifty seven minutes.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Wow, it was ridiculous. Holy cow, never got a read card,
- 3:18Speaker 4: by the way, that was stupid.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Stupid do you know? Because what time was that game?
- 3:22Speaker 2: Am?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Nine?
- 3:23Speaker 3: I literally had a thing set on my phone nine
- 3:26Speaker 3: am or Blacks, and I looked at it and then
- 3:28Speaker 3: looked outside of how nice it was, and said, I
- 3:30Speaker 3: don't want to watch it a right, and just went
- 3:32Speaker 3: out and we did some gardening and stuff instead.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Ah, but I'm like, this is.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Actually I got through the first half and then I
- 3:38Speaker 5: went and worked and just had it on my computer.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Yeah, which I do if we had something to do,
- 3:42Speaker 3: but I was like, fuck, it's so nice outside. I
- 3:44Speaker 3: don't and the All Blacks haven't entertained me enough recently
- 3:46Speaker 3: that I've just like been I'm waiting for a big
- 3:48Speaker 3: game to get me.
- 3:49Speaker 2: It was a classic, one of those games where just
- 3:53Speaker 2: neither side got a flow on and it was just
- 3:56Speaker 2: riddled with mistakes and technical problems.
- 3:58Speaker 4: It was just a debacle because.
- 4:00Speaker 3: The frustrating thing is you look at the players and
- 4:01Speaker 3: you go, these guys are sick, and when they string
- 4:03Speaker 3: it all together, it's going to be mean.
- 4:05Speaker 1: But I'm just waiting for it to happen. Can't that man?
- 4:09Speaker 4: Magnificent weather?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Fuck? It was good.
- 4:12Speaker 3: The Whole Archy Big Show week days from four on
- 4:15Speaker 3: Radio hurrachy They Big Show podcast.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I've been wearing shorts for three days, fellows man, how
- 4:24Speaker 2: crazy is that?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Feel good?
- 4:25Speaker 5: Man?
- 4:26Speaker 4: Oh yeah?
- 4:28Speaker 2: Actually my wife said to me, yes, I think your
- 4:30Speaker 2: legs have got a bit bigger wow from maybe from
- 4:33Speaker 2: the golf, from all corking, And I went, yeah, baby,
- 4:38Speaker 2: hell yeah, yeah, my cutoffs were really tight around the thigh.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Still got fercet withered calves and anchors.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Wrong with you?
- 4:47Speaker 4: But yes, it's nice.
- 4:48Speaker 1: It's been good, isn't it?
- 4:49Speaker 2: And it makes a huge difference. So they actually did
- 4:51Speaker 2: gardening yesterday too.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Geezy, I didn't drink so good. I don't drink any
- 4:55Speaker 3: alcohol over the weekend.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I did the opposite of that. Oh you got steamed,
- 5:00Speaker 1: Well yeah I did. Shame on you man. Yeah. Well
- 5:02Speaker 1: I wasn't going to I was like, I can't. And
- 5:04Speaker 1: then I got home that missus had a bottle of
- 5:06Speaker 1: wine open.
- 5:06Speaker 5: I thought, oh, just a little tipple, so me and
- 5:09Speaker 5: who are up to?
- 5:11Speaker 1: That's so great? There running And then the next day.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Work work, work, work, followed by the guy I was
- 5:18Speaker 5: working with comeover, had a couple of beers, then went
- 5:21Speaker 5: into the cricket. Everybody was hungover.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yeah, doing that cricket on the couch there. It was
- 5:27Speaker 3: pretty grim and it was enjoyable at all.
- 5:32Speaker 5: Look, I had to drip my way through it. But
- 5:33Speaker 5: then in the break we had Indian and that just
- 5:36Speaker 5: leveled everybody again. When went into a food comber and
- 5:38Speaker 5: we're just praying for a collapse. We didn't care who
- 5:40Speaker 5: it came from, yes, didn't care, just let's get this over.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Well.
- 5:43Speaker 2: It was funny because I was watching other bet and
- 5:44Speaker 2: I was thinking, oh, the fellows might get away with
- 5:46Speaker 2: us here, and.
- 5:50Speaker 4: I was like, oh, it's gonna be over real early,
- 5:53Speaker 4: and then it just drag.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Those are the most painful ones where your expectations are,
- 5:58Speaker 2: oh shit, this is going to be over and thirty
- 6:00Speaker 2: overs or twenty overs, yeah, and then it drags to
- 6:03Speaker 2: the fortieth and you're like.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Well, Lane Lane. So Lane had the night before the
- 6:07Speaker 5: ACC did the podcast down in Wellington. Then he went
- 6:12Speaker 5: back to Paul Ford's house. Then he jumped in a
- 6:16Speaker 5: cab at seven twenty to make an eight am flight.
- 6:19Speaker 5: He was calling Jo Jury's I'm not going to make
- 6:21Speaker 5: this flight. He was the last one and they held
- 6:22Speaker 5: the plane for him. He's sprinting through the airport, gets
- 6:26Speaker 5: back here has to commentate the cricket got home, dropped
- 6:28Speaker 5: his bags, said hi to his missus and by his misses,
- 6:32Speaker 5: and then commentated every single ball. Guess of that game,
- 6:38Speaker 5: so eighty overs. He had more energy than everyone else,
- 6:42Speaker 5: than everyone he's It was pretty pretty amazing because he
- 6:45Speaker 5: was an absolute heap of.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And then and then you see him in here today.
- 6:48Speaker 3: I just came in before and then showed us the
- 6:50Speaker 3: gulf so that he set up in the photo studio.
- 6:53Speaker 5: He's sprightly. And then he then he did the rugby
- 6:55Speaker 5: commentary on Sunday.
- 6:57Speaker 2: I wouldn't say he was sprightly. I thought it was
- 6:59Speaker 2: pretty That would be an exaggeration. He seemed quite subdued.
- 7:04Speaker 3: I was expecting him to be a heap of ship
- 7:06Speaker 3: like I would have been, and he seemed relatively smart.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Yeah, he looked good and he looked like he was
- 7:10Speaker 5: wearing new clothes. He must have burned his clothes from
- 7:12Speaker 5: the weekend.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I love he just goes hard, unbelievable, really ridiculous.
- 7:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I was struggling, but I didn't joy. I haven't
- 7:18Speaker 5: done any commentary for a long time, so that was
- 7:20Speaker 5: a bit of fun. And then yesterday, what have been
- 7:23Speaker 5: yesterday Sunday. Sunday did something. Oh there was Halloween, wasn't
- 7:29Speaker 5: there was it on Friday Friday? Yeah, so the kid
- 7:32Speaker 5: was out and about doing that. And then yesterday I
- 7:35Speaker 5: can't remember what happened in the morning, but went around
- 7:37Speaker 5: to a mate's place and watched the BUCKBA League, cleaned
- 7:41Speaker 5: the house.
- 7:41Speaker 1: That's what I did. Well, that watched the league and
- 7:44Speaker 1: had a few beers. Yeah. Man, so I drank far
- 7:47Speaker 1: too much, but that is okay.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Yeah, the next fine weekend.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I know, Well that's the trouble. That was the trouble
- 7:55Speaker 1: as well. It was like, we're going to this weekend. Yeah,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna trying to get out of all of that.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It's funny, man, because I was telling Keazy on the
- 8:05Speaker 2: way here when we were walking over. I just had
- 8:08Speaker 2: the most shocking performance anxiety dream last night, and I
- 8:12Speaker 2: think it might be related to the Barefest but also
- 8:14Speaker 2: just work in general.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And shockingly it was.
- 8:19Speaker 2: It was such a bad dream that it woke me
- 8:22Speaker 2: up one of those ones and I was like, oh.
- 8:25Speaker 5: I had someone and I had a similar thing. Her
- 8:27Speaker 5: former bosses were chasing after it. Yes, you'd left that
- 8:30Speaker 5: place five years ago.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I was trying to get to the big show, and
- 8:32Speaker 2: I was getting waylaid by all these things, and you
- 8:35Speaker 2: guys were right up on the top of.
- 8:36Speaker 4: This hell and I was going, oh fuck, I'm never
- 8:38Speaker 4: gonna make it there, geez.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Then you rang me on the phone and we're effing
- 8:41Speaker 2: and jefferent because I was like fifteen or twenty minutes.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Later, I'm like, I'm trying to get there, Mogi.
- 8:46Speaker 2: And then Toddy rang me and was like, this is
- 8:50Speaker 2: why you guys need to get in here early.
- 8:52Speaker 4: This is the excitement. I was like, there's got nothing
- 8:54Speaker 4: to do with it.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Toddy, It's not what And then realistic is there and
- 8:58Speaker 2: just woke up and a frenzy of oh my god,
- 9:02Speaker 2: and you are like half an hour into the show.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Yeah, all you want to do is just do the
- 9:08Speaker 5: radio show. But there's all the stuff getting in your way. Yes,
- 9:10Speaker 5: I just want to go.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Literally, because it was that a fear people going can
- 9:13Speaker 4: you just help me with us? Jase like it'll take.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Two minutes, and I was iffing and jeff and going
- 9:18Speaker 2: I really can't, man, I've got to go and through
- 9:20Speaker 2: the show, and they're going, seriously, it'll take two minutes,
- 9:22Speaker 2: and I'll be like.
- 9:24Speaker 1: That's funny, isn't it. It's because of all this extra stuff.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Now you obviously you're filming, We're gonna go do this
- 9:29Speaker 3: festival when all you really do want to do, well,
- 9:31Speaker 3: it's just the radio show.
- 9:32Speaker 1: But I think there's plenty of water to go into
- 9:33Speaker 1: the bridge. I think that's what.
- 9:37Speaker 5: Yeah, all I want to do is this, But there's
- 9:38Speaker 5: all this water to go under the bridge.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it might.
- 9:44Speaker 4: My wife and.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Because she's not having a great time at the moment,
- 9:48Speaker 2: you know, just you know.
- 9:49Speaker 1: You want to join the big show.
- 9:50Speaker 4: I just want to. I just want Christmas to be here.
- 9:52Speaker 4: I think we're both in that zone.
- 9:54Speaker 2: And it's like but exactly that, there's a lot to
- 9:57Speaker 2: happen before then.
- 9:58Speaker 3: And now, yeah, I don't drink any alcohol. Good on
- 10:05Speaker 3: you man, good good man makes a difference. I tell
- 10:07Speaker 3: you what I wanted to not like. A Friday night
- 10:10Speaker 3: was so beautiful. We'd had a delicious meal. We were
- 10:12Speaker 3: starting to watch a movie and I was like, in
- 10:13Speaker 3: the last class I read one saying it'd be lovely.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I was like, no, not going to and I didn't.
- 10:18Speaker 1: It's good.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Does that mean you're going to go exceptionally hard on Friday.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Nah, I'll just be back to sort of regular broadcasting, right,
- 10:24Speaker 3: you'll be able to be a feast.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a few years on. Yeah, a few
- 10:27Speaker 1: beers Friday, A few beers. You don't we there? The
- 10:30Speaker 1: Big de Douche.
- 10:32Speaker 4: When are you guys coming back?
- 10:34Speaker 1: Monday afternoon? It was meant to me and Maggie helping
- 10:38Speaker 1: pack down.
- 10:38Speaker 5: It was meant to be Sunday, but I've got heaps
- 10:41Speaker 5: of stuff to do at the new studio. Yes, I'll see,
- 10:44Speaker 5: let's see, but hopefully I don't have to come back.
- 10:46Speaker 1: But hopefully you don't have to come back. When are
- 10:48Speaker 1: you coming back?
- 10:49Speaker 4: Keezy?
- 10:50Speaker 3: I think Pugs and I have got first Sunday arriving
- 10:52Speaker 3: home at two pm, so it's a whole week interfere.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I'm really set day and I said to my wife Batch, Great,
- 11:00Speaker 2: we're getting home and we're going to fucking.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Batch's booked for Saturday night.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Might people have to wait and see? Yeah?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Good stuff? Man.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Hey, listen to The Big Show fort or seven weekdays
- 11:09Speaker 3: on Kowdarky
