- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to the armchair GM Sports Network.
- 1:00Speaker 2: And somebody better make a call to our town because
- 1:05Speaker 2: the Kitchener Rangers are bringing a trophy home to our town.
- 1:11Speaker 2: It is a championship twenty three years in the making,
- 1:15Speaker 2: from Fillows to Roy and now to read the Kitchener
- 1:21Speaker 2: Rangers are twenty twenty six Memorial Cup champions.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Oh that gives you goosebumps just listening to that. The
- 1:29Speaker 3: voice of the Kitchener Rangers, Mike Farwell bringing it home.
- 1:33Speaker 3: The Kitchener Rangers keep the Memorial Cup in the Ontario
- 1:37Speaker 3: Hockey League. First it was saganaw then London and now
- 1:41Speaker 3: Kitchener three straight years the trophy is in the Ontario
- 1:45Speaker 3: Hockey League. Glad to have you along with us. Oh
- 1:48Speaker 3: that gives you chills. With colin Ward, Emerys Domini BC
- 1:51Speaker 3: is in the clouds shadow to Mike Farwell and crew
- 1:53Speaker 3: for a great call all tournament long. That was awesome.
- 1:59Speaker 3: The kitchen Rangers dominated in the Memorial Cup five nothing.
- 2:05Speaker 3: He get it started on opening night against the Colonna Rockets.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Followed up with a six to two win over Everett
- 2:10Speaker 3: three to two win over at Chacuta. Me get you
- 2:13Speaker 3: the automatic buye to the finals where it's another six
- 2:16Speaker 3: to two win over the Everett Silver Tips. I mean,
- 2:21Speaker 3: let's just start with that call. And the Kitchener Arrangers
- 2:23Speaker 3: just put on a show through four games, a perfect
- 2:26Speaker 3: four and oh, how did they win the Memorial Cup?
- 2:29Speaker 3: How did the Kitchener Rangers do it?
- 2:32Speaker 4: Oh? And there's a lot of reasons so going into
- 2:33Speaker 4: winning the Memorial Cup from coaching the front office, Mike McKenzie.
- 2:37Speaker 4: First off, we'll go to before the mem Cup. They
- 2:39Speaker 4: don't win the Memorial Cup without the trade, Samuel Riley,
- 2:42Speaker 4: Jared Woolley, Dylan Edwards. Yeah, Gabe Charat, they don't. They
- 2:47Speaker 4: don't win the Memorial Cup if it's not for those moves,
- 2:50Speaker 4: and especially the first one with the London move and
- 2:53Speaker 4: you see the move with Eerie. We talked about it
- 2:55Speaker 4: before we went on air. Evan Heddrick in the fourth
- 2:59Speaker 4: round pick for Dylan Edwards, that's like that's a throw
- 3:04Speaker 4: in type deal, Like for what they gave up, that's
- 3:06Speaker 4: a heck of a deal. One hundred percent. That's one
- 3:09Speaker 4: of those big moons. Did you win it without it?
- 3:11Speaker 4: But Sam o' riiley, Jared Willy five rings in their careers,
- 3:15Speaker 4: I mean speaks for itself. I mean started the train
- 3:19Speaker 4: back in January about Sam O'Reilly Red Tilson, the mister
- 3:23Speaker 4: MVP what the year, and I thought it was interesting
- 3:26Speaker 4: on the panel with Jeff O'Neill shared on the TSN
- 3:28Speaker 4: panel about Sam o'reiley the text you guy from John
- 3:31Speaker 4: Cooper about how he already has that in him to
- 3:34Speaker 4: play good in the playoffs. He performs well in the playoffs,
- 3:38Speaker 4: he just picks it up. He gets at extra level
- 3:41Speaker 4: and you really saw that from Sam ol'iley and Jared
- 3:43Speaker 4: Woolly as well. Jared Woolley with a huge hit on
- 3:46Speaker 4: Carter Bear. I mean Carter Bear still seeing stars from
- 3:50Speaker 4: that hit. Caught him with his head down and just
- 3:53Speaker 4: got rocked. And I think that those types of deals
- 3:56Speaker 4: are the reason why you win the Mornal Cup. Jared Woolley,
- 3:59Speaker 4: he's up on your screen right now for those watching
- 4:01Speaker 4: on YouTube. I mean, the points aren't gonna be the
- 4:04Speaker 4: thing with Jared Woolly, but he's going to be. He's
- 4:08Speaker 4: going to bring it every night. And you want to
- 4:09Speaker 4: talk about big goals, you know the mem Cup yesterday
- 4:12Speaker 4: night in the finals, he scores a big goal in
- 4:14Speaker 4: the finals. O witl finally finds a way to get
- 4:17Speaker 4: one on the board. You know, those are those are
- 4:19Speaker 4: the types of moments that Jared Woolly has had. And
- 4:21Speaker 4: you look at last year with the London Knights in
- 4:23Speaker 4: the playoffs, he got two goals, two big goals and
- 4:25Speaker 4: key situations. That's what That's what Jared Willie's done in
- 4:29Speaker 4: his career. And for a fifth round pick by the
- 4:31Speaker 4: or sixth round pick by the LA Kings, I mean
- 4:34Speaker 4: you want to talk about a good pick for LA.
- 4:36Speaker 4: That's a steal to get Jared Willie in the sixth round,
- 4:39Speaker 4: one hundred and sixty fourth overall in the National Hockey
- 4:41Speaker 4: League Draft. I mean, those are that's why you win.
- 4:43Speaker 4: And for Mike McKenzie and the Kitchener Rangers. Remember we
- 4:47Speaker 4: go back to October, boys, right, we heard about the
- 4:51Speaker 4: Memorial Cup. Who's gonna host it for next season? It's twelfth,
- 4:54Speaker 4: it's the mall or it's our town, right, what's it
- 4:56Speaker 4: gonna be? And Kitchener had to pivot quick. They had
- 5:00Speaker 4: to pivot quick. They did a good job with the
- 5:01Speaker 4: New Age. You get some guys from the US. Ryan
- 5:04Speaker 4: Humphreys was a huge get pick up out of Pittsburgh.
- 5:07Speaker 4: You look at those ads like that, right, those are
- 5:10Speaker 4: big ads for you. I think that with the Mike McKenzie,
- 5:13Speaker 4: what he's done to be able to pivot that quick. Essentially, Hey,
- 5:17Speaker 4: we'll give that up for gave Sharrot. We're okay with that.
- 5:20Speaker 4: We're okay with giving up a couple of good, young,
- 5:23Speaker 4: talented players for Sam O'Reilly because that's going to change
- 5:26Speaker 4: our identity of our team. And Jared Woolley on the
- 5:28Speaker 4: back end, and I mean I have an Oski two
- 5:31Speaker 4: on the back end. Getting him back from Belleville and
- 5:33Speaker 4: the Ottawa Senators was incredible. You want to talk about
- 5:37Speaker 4: a unit. I saw his post on Instagram and I
- 5:39Speaker 4: wish I could send the picture him and samue O'Reilly
- 5:43Speaker 4: And he's got the two red eyes right here like
- 5:46Speaker 4: cuts under the ice for those washing on YouTube, and
- 5:48Speaker 4: the noses cut open in the middle and thinking that's
- 5:51Speaker 4: winning the championship. That guy just won a championship and
- 5:54Speaker 4: I and no surprise, I think you look at the lineup.
- 5:58Speaker 4: You look what they did. I think with the Kitchener
- 6:01Speaker 4: Rangers they were by far the best team. It starts
- 6:04Speaker 4: with the front office, what they did acquiring guys like
- 6:07Speaker 4: Sam O'Reilly, Dylan Edwards, Jared Woolly, Gabe Sharrott. Those guys,
- 6:12Speaker 4: your every day ers. Those guys make you better every day.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Their expectation is to win. And Sam O'Riley Jared Wooley
- 6:17Speaker 4: have win through it the last couple of seasons. They
- 6:19Speaker 4: know what it takes. They bring that And Jared Woolly
- 6:22Speaker 4: had to get an interview during the finals on TSN
- 6:25Speaker 4: about we had sometimes buying in right, buying in. We
- 6:30Speaker 4: acquired a lot of pieces, but we bought in something.
- 6:33Speaker 4: When you over buy, you get a lot of egos,
- 6:35Speaker 4: a lot of different personalities, and the personalities match real well.
- 6:37Speaker 4: That's the props of the scouting staff and Mike McKenzie
- 6:41Speaker 4: as well in the deals and then you say a hocus,
- 6:45Speaker 4: how is he man? He's got to get any job.
- 6:49Speaker 4: He's done with that, He's done.
- 6:52Speaker 3: That's where I was going next Wardy, Well, we'll get
- 6:55Speaker 3: you to go into more detail in that. But you know,
- 6:57Speaker 3: for a lack of a better term, the head coaching
- 6:59Speaker 3: situation in Kitchener for a number of years was you know,
- 7:01Speaker 3: a shit show.
- 7:02Speaker 4: It really was.
- 7:03Speaker 3: You couldn't figure out a guy that was well, you
- 7:05Speaker 3: couldn't find a guy. Really, Mike McKenzie obviously had a
- 7:07Speaker 3: successful year or two, but when you tried to go
- 7:10Speaker 3: out and get someone else it it just didn't work.
- 7:13Speaker 3: They were looking for answers wherever you know they could
- 7:16Speaker 3: find them, and it just seemed like nothing really fell
- 7:19Speaker 3: into place until you see came along and you know,
- 7:21Speaker 3: all of a sudden, now he is, you know, one
- 7:24Speaker 3: of three Rangers bench bosses to bring home a Memorial
- 7:27Speaker 3: Cup championship, and all his name's gonna is gonna be
- 7:31Speaker 3: in kitchener somewhere for the rest of time, mentioning his
- 7:36Speaker 3: name for a number of years. Yeah, you're right, first European,
- 7:39Speaker 3: so I mean, just a awesome coach. And whether this
- 7:43Speaker 3: is you know, your ticket to an NHL job or
- 7:46Speaker 3: an a HL job or a pro jobs. But it's coming,
- 7:49Speaker 3: It's coming real quick for him.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Man, I'd be shocked if you see a Hocus isn't
- 7:54Speaker 4: in a pro job next season come October. This guy,
- 7:57Speaker 4: I mean, the job he did, and I'm sure if
- 7:59Speaker 4: we asked, and he's any player on the Rangers, they're
- 8:01Speaker 4: run through a wall for that guy. I mean, you
- 8:03Speaker 4: watch that guy, the emotion on the bench that he
- 8:06Speaker 4: does not show in obviously a good way. There's coaches
- 8:10Speaker 4: around the league you just have to yell, they have
- 8:12Speaker 4: to scream. They just find themselves on the couch in
- 8:15Speaker 4: March though every year. I think that if you say
- 8:20Speaker 4: a Hocus and the way he approaches the game, his
- 8:22Speaker 4: strategy throughout the game, the system right, if you don't
- 8:25Speaker 4: buy in, you just don't play. We have a deep team,
- 8:27Speaker 4: you don't have to play. And the patience he has
- 8:30Speaker 4: in the structure they play with too, is incredible. As
- 8:32Speaker 4: a player, you don't want to. It's nice when you
- 8:34Speaker 4: have a coach and you see the structure right and
- 8:36Speaker 4: the patients your coach has, the teaching abilities, he just
- 8:39Speaker 4: gets it. And I think for a Hocus, I think
- 8:42Speaker 4: this is a I think this is a well worth
- 8:46Speaker 4: a line up the interview list to this summer because
- 8:48Speaker 4: I think there's a ton coming for you say Hocus
- 8:51Speaker 4: and you look at last night late there that icing
- 8:53Speaker 4: in the third period there in the finals against every
- 8:56Speaker 4: on Sunday night, there was that moment where hey, you
- 8:59Speaker 4: know what belief it it's the mem Cup Final. I'm
- 9:02Speaker 4: saying it right now, going after the referee after the
- 9:05Speaker 4: line's been like that off the icing uh, and the
- 9:07Speaker 4: referees like that was unbelievable. You know, all year you
- 9:10Speaker 4: don't see anything from you say, Hocus. Then all of
- 9:12Speaker 4: a sudden, boom, exactly, there's only six minutes left in
- 9:18Speaker 4: the mem Cup final. Here we go, let it out, boys,
- 9:21Speaker 4: And that's when you know it was close for Kitchener.
- 9:24Speaker 4: But they were just so good. You know, you give
- 9:26Speaker 4: up six goals in the whole tournament for the Rangers,
- 9:28Speaker 4: and I think everything, you know, if there's a vote,
- 9:32Speaker 4: That's why I truly believe there should be a vote
- 9:35Speaker 4: at the end of the season for the Coach of
- 9:37Speaker 4: the Year. The GM of the Year should be out,
- 9:38Speaker 4: should be done in the summer. It shouldn't be done
- 9:40Speaker 4: after the regular season. Put the playoffs involved too, because
- 9:43Speaker 4: that's why you play the game. And I think you
- 9:45Speaker 4: say a hocus Mike McKenzie unanimously, would you want one
- 9:49Speaker 4: in one? GM? And coaches close? Like I said, I
- 9:52Speaker 4: was on the Jami Ckee train. Hey he had a
- 9:54Speaker 4: great season the regular season. He didn't. He didn't get it.
- 9:57Speaker 4: You say, Hocus should have been Coach of the Year
- 10:00Speaker 4: as well. The regular season. The Rangers record after the
- 10:03Speaker 4: trade deadline was unbelievable. Yeah, like, I don't know how.
- 10:08Speaker 4: I don't know how there's a fact like they say,
- 10:11Speaker 4: I don't know how anyone voted. Brandon has on the
- 10:14Speaker 4: screen right now for those on YouTube, twenty six three
- 10:16Speaker 4: to two and one after January first, nineteen and two
- 10:18Speaker 4: in the postseason for the Rangers, twenty six three to
- 10:22Speaker 4: two and one, you don't get Coach of the year.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Did every coach win Coach of the Year in the dub?
- 10:26Speaker 4: I don't know that off by heart. We'll have to
- 10:27Speaker 4: get that after a commercial break. I don't know BC
- 10:30Speaker 4: if you if you're able to research that, well, we're
- 10:32Speaker 4: on air here. But I think it's I think that
- 10:35Speaker 4: is absolutely crazy that you say, Hocus did not win
- 10:39Speaker 4: Coach of the Year after seeing the record in the
- 10:41Speaker 4: regular season that they had, the Rangers, and how could
- 10:43Speaker 4: they were? They just got better and better and you
- 10:45Speaker 4: can see this building. You can see the momentum building.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Every year there's a team in the Entio Hockey League,
- 10:50Speaker 4: the Q the DUB that you can you could see, Oh,
- 10:55Speaker 4: Steve Hamilton was a recipient twenty twenty six. Thank you
- 10:57Speaker 4: Brandon in the chat below. But I truly believe that
- 11:03Speaker 4: when you look at this, you see the momentum building
- 11:06Speaker 4: all year. You see the deadline approach, you see them
- 11:09Speaker 4: gel together so quickly like they did. You saw a
- 11:11Speaker 4: little bit of struggles for Sharrat during the regular season,
- 11:14Speaker 4: how big he was in the playoffs, and then you
- 11:15Speaker 4: saw those guys that they get Edwards O'Reilly and next
- 11:19Speaker 4: thing you know, Pridham's ham and away of the year, right,
- 11:22Speaker 4: like you look at him and Aussi coming back. They
- 11:24Speaker 4: got that character and you could see the momentum. Right.
- 11:27Speaker 4: They had a Friday night game at the odd that
- 11:29Speaker 4: I was at against Windsor. That's a big game in February.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Kitchener wins that game, right, Like they won a lot
- 11:36Speaker 4: of big games throughout the season. You know, they they
- 11:40Speaker 4: played Flint, they beat Flint. Other than the last game
- 11:43Speaker 4: there when they lost to Sarnia. They never really had
- 11:46Speaker 4: a blumber and like you take that away, like you know,
- 11:50Speaker 4: it's hard to believe, but the Kitchener Rangers were unbelievable.
- 11:53Speaker 4: And then the finals. I mean, Christian Kirch, he was
- 11:57Speaker 4: good and and I he was perfect. Actually he was great,
- 12:00Speaker 4: And I just want to mention, Like on TSN they
- 12:02Speaker 4: talked about it on the panel at the intermission. How
- 12:04Speaker 4: a lot of times when you're on a good team,
- 12:07Speaker 4: and this is valid a lot of good teams. And
- 12:09Speaker 4: I think back to the Eerie team when they lost
- 12:11Speaker 4: to Windsor, where I didn't think Timpano was a good
- 12:15Speaker 4: enough goaltender to win a Wortal Cup. I thought they
- 12:18Speaker 4: had everything else, but he didn't face enough shots whenever
- 12:21Speaker 4: he faced shots whenever they played the Winsors, when they
- 12:23Speaker 4: played the Londons that year, they didn't win those games
- 12:26Speaker 4: like they were in a game they were in one.
- 12:27Speaker 4: They were a heck of a team that top line.
- 12:29Speaker 4: But I thought about this and throughout the COCHL wide,
- 12:33Speaker 4: the good teams, they usually don't have the greatest. They
- 12:36Speaker 4: do have a great goaltender, they do, but they don't
- 12:39Speaker 4: have to be great until they hit adversity. And it's tough.
- 12:42Speaker 4: You don't have adversity a lot, so only the one
- 12:44Speaker 4: that out of ten games you got to be great
- 12:46Speaker 4: to really get carried right, to carry your team to
- 12:48Speaker 4: win that fifty to fifty game, or else you'll kind
- 12:50Speaker 4: of go on cruise control. But I'm just thinking with
- 12:53Speaker 4: Christian Kersh, he was huge for one of a few
- 12:58Speaker 4: times he needed to be because the Rangers were so structured.
- 13:02Speaker 4: He was huge in that first period against Everett. I
- 13:05Speaker 4: mean he made he'd probably stopped three or four goals
- 13:08Speaker 4: that should have been goals. And then if those go in,
- 13:10Speaker 4: what are we looking at, right, it's not a six four,
- 13:12Speaker 4: it's not a it's not the same score as it was. Right,
- 13:14Speaker 4: we're looking at six to four five to four type
- 13:17Speaker 4: game we're in. We're in one now. So I just
- 13:19Speaker 4: think for Christian Kurage to be able to get the
- 13:21Speaker 4: All Star Team in the tournament as well, that was huge.
- 13:25Speaker 4: He was huge. Your goaltender's got to be getting those
- 13:27Speaker 4: games and he outperformed Everts. Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I mean it's not a surprise to see the All
- 13:32Speaker 3: Star team include members of just the Kitchener Rangers and
- 13:35Speaker 3: the Efverts Silver Tips. And that's no knocket Uh, Chikunimi
- 13:38Speaker 3: or Kolowna. But ah, there were two teams that were
- 13:42Speaker 3: way better than the rest of them, and Kitchener and
- 13:45Speaker 3: Effort being those two.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 3: So Kurse read O'Reilly and Pridam part of that All
- 13:50Speaker 3: Star team for the Kitchener Rangers. You look at points
- 13:52Speaker 3: in the tournament, Pritam led the tournament end points with
- 13:56Speaker 3: nine led the tournament and with five You might think
- 13:59Speaker 3: that's an autumn at a tournament m v P. But
- 14:02Speaker 3: I think, as we've mentioned at Lank's colin you know,
- 14:05Speaker 3: not surprising Sam O'Reilly takes that home. But just just
- 14:09Speaker 3: a quick point on Jack Pridam, right, you know, he
- 14:11Speaker 3: could have easily bailed and you know, went off to
- 14:14Speaker 3: school whatever, you know, or the next chapter in his
- 14:17Speaker 3: hockey career. You know, the rumors that are swirling around
- 14:20Speaker 3: that he was not going to sign with Chicago, obviously
- 14:23Speaker 3: confirming that with him being traded on on Monday. But uh,
- 14:29Speaker 3: what what can you say about him? He's he's an
- 14:31Speaker 3: overrager that again he chose to stay. And and you know,
- 14:35Speaker 3: I have some thoughts on the person who said this
- 14:38Speaker 3: line on TV, Colin Ward, and I think very highly
- 14:42Speaker 3: of most cider and he did not. But but quoting
- 14:46Speaker 3: one of the best college football coaches of all time
- 14:48Speaker 3: in Boma Bo shem Beckler, there we go. You know,
- 14:52Speaker 3: those who stay will become champions. And and Jack Pridham
- 14:55Speaker 3: led the way in terms of numbers, but his leadership
- 14:59Speaker 3: on the ice in this that will to win really
- 15:02Speaker 3: made him stand out and again it's hard. It's hard
- 15:06Speaker 3: to say that Samuel Riley, Like it's it's very easy
- 15:09Speaker 3: to say, yeah, sam o Riley's the MVP, no question.
- 15:10Speaker 3: If you're looking at points. People made the argument for
- 15:13Speaker 3: Jack Pridham sam O'Riley very deserving of the m v P.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I think that Hall of Fame conversation again, like we
- 15:19Speaker 3: talked about in the last Joe Wardy, he's taking home
- 15:23Speaker 3: the ring and the m v P. But but Jack Pridam,
- 15:27Speaker 3: sam o'reiley, I mean sam O'Riley was right behind him
- 15:29Speaker 3: in points with eight and in goal yeah, in the tournament.
- 15:32Speaker 3: So that's one too. Take your pick about who you
- 15:34Speaker 3: who you think should be m v P.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Sam O'riley's a plunger around the net. You get the
- 15:39Speaker 4: space out there to shoot the puckets of Samuel o'reiley.
- 15:42Speaker 4: What a I mean. Jack Pridam had the tournament. I mean,
- 15:46Speaker 4: he was incredible him. Dylan Edwards, I mean, what a
- 15:49Speaker 4: treat to us to watch Dylan Edwards. Ohl fans listening
- 15:52Speaker 4: to this and you guys at the beginning of the year,
- 15:55Speaker 4: if I were to ask Dylan Edwards, would we be
- 15:58Speaker 4: talking about him the way we are today. Probably not.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I mean he was incredible. Like you look at his
- 16:05Speaker 4: last seasons, like you know, like he had a good year,
- 16:08Speaker 4: like he had a decent year, a good year in
- 16:09Speaker 4: an eerie last season. He comes over here in Kitchener
- 16:13Speaker 4: and just absolutely like you look at the postseason that
- 16:17Speaker 4: he had, right and you look at him Sam O'Reilly,
- 16:20Speaker 4: Jack Pridam. They all play off each other so well.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Pridham has the shot, he has the release. He's a
- 16:26Speaker 4: catch and shoot guy. Edwards plays on the edge a
- 16:29Speaker 4: little bit o'reiley's around the net, creates a space. Edwards
- 16:33Speaker 4: is the finisher on the rebounds. Pridam is a catching
- 16:35Speaker 4: shot guy in the slot, in the flank. And you
- 16:38Speaker 4: look at them with Cameron Reid, their power play, I
- 16:41Speaker 4: mean they had everything, they had everything. I mean I
- 16:44Speaker 4: thought that Jack Pridham, this is the beauty of patience
- 16:49Speaker 4: with your development. Everyone has a different path to get
- 16:52Speaker 4: to the NHL. And that's why that's the beauty of
- 16:57Speaker 4: hey sticking around another year and lighten it up. Isn't
- 17:00Speaker 4: the word end all? Be all? To take two steps
- 17:03Speaker 4: forward right gets trade to Tampa Bay. I think that
- 17:08Speaker 4: without a doubt, I think, without a doubt Sam o'riiley
- 17:11Speaker 4: made the decision and it was a right decision. You know,
- 17:14Speaker 4: it's it's not everyone. The part that bugs me is
- 17:17Speaker 4: with development is that everyone is in a rush to
- 17:20Speaker 4: get to the NHL. You know, you get drafted, you
- 17:23Speaker 4: get drafted fifth overall and he and you got to
- 17:27Speaker 4: make the NHL. You got to make the NHL, right
- 17:30Speaker 4: And yeah, yeah, you're gonna make the NHL. I mean,
- 17:33Speaker 4: you go fifth overall, you're gonna play games in the NHL.
- 17:36Speaker 4: You're going to But if at that given moment, when
- 17:39Speaker 4: you're eighteen years old, if you can't play in a
- 17:42Speaker 4: league with Connor McDavid, who's gonna be thirty years old,
- 17:45Speaker 4: you can't play in a league with Sidney Crosby. That's
- 17:48Speaker 4: not a knock. A lot of guys can't. It's a
- 17:51Speaker 4: hardly it's the best league in the world. Like, and
- 17:53Speaker 4: I think for Jack Pridham to come back, Sam O'Reilly
- 17:56Speaker 4: to come back the way he did, right, Like, that's
- 17:59Speaker 4: that's what you do. That's what you do, and that's
- 18:01Speaker 4: the beauty that we saw in the OHL for a
- 18:03Speaker 4: long time. And don't be surprised if you see a
- 18:06Speaker 4: guy like Sam o'reiley next year on the Tampa Bay
- 18:08Speaker 4: Lightning be in the calder race. You look at every
- 18:10Speaker 4: single year, every single year back at Seneca Seneca. Last
- 18:15Speaker 4: year they send him back third overall, picked by anaheind oh,
- 18:18Speaker 4: this is like third overall and he's going back right
- 18:21Speaker 4: to the Ohl. You look at this year, he's in
- 18:24Speaker 4: the calder. Right, he's in the calder. Don't rush it
- 18:27Speaker 4: and Jack Pridham. That's a mature decision. If as a
- 18:30Speaker 4: general manager, I would love that. I think that's huge
- 18:32Speaker 4: and I think that that was unreal. I think it's
- 18:36Speaker 4: unbelievable to see Pridam come back. Trust your development. It's
- 18:39Speaker 4: not a rush, you know. And I think for him
- 18:42Speaker 4: that was great, I really do. I think for Pridam
- 18:44Speaker 4: to stick around like that, that's what you need to do.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Yeah, good for him. It's really uh yeah, who cares
- 18:52Speaker 3: how you get there? As long as you get there.
- 18:55Speaker 3: That's pretty well the message there.
- 19:02Speaker 4: There was.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Something unfortunate that did happen in this tournament. Jordan Tournier
- 19:09Speaker 3: receiving a tournament long suspension or not tournament long, but
- 19:14Speaker 3: obviously after the scud to Me Kitchener game for stomping
- 19:18Speaker 3: on Christian Humphrey's foot. Not awesome to see sending death
- 19:25Speaker 3: threats to some much. Yeah, does not accomplish anything either.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Unfortunate situation. You know, we've we we had a tough, tough,
- 19:37Speaker 3: what's the right word, tough incident earlier this year with
- 19:39Speaker 3: Luke Tragusica, which resulted in a season long suspension for him.
- 19:45Speaker 3: This could be looked at the same way could be.
- 19:49Speaker 3: People will have their own opinions on that, and please
- 19:51Speaker 3: share it with us if you would like to. U
- 19:54Speaker 3: just just something that didn't need to happen, and it unfortunately.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Did you know I said the same thing about Dragusika's
- 20:01Speaker 3: baseball swing.
- 20:02Speaker 4: It was stupid.
- 20:03Speaker 3: We've done stupid stuff, you know, maybe in a hotel
- 20:07Speaker 3: and windsor in twenty twenty two, but you know, it happens.
- 20:13Speaker 3: It just you hope he learns from it. Just unfortunate
- 20:16Speaker 3: about all the death threats and everything, and it happened.
- 20:18Speaker 4: It's unfortunate. You know.
- 20:20Speaker 3: You see a Hocus addressed it, the whole league addressed it.
- 20:23Speaker 3: She could be addressed it as well. But yeah, that
- 20:26Speaker 3: just it sucked that it happened, and unfortunate for Tounia
- 20:29Speaker 3: it ended his tournament, and I think rightfully so, I
- 20:32Speaker 3: think that was the right to discipline that was handed out.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Yep. Yeah, it was a bad it was a bad,
- 20:37Speaker 4: bad case of judgment. Tarnia in the corner. You don't
- 20:41Speaker 4: do it, you say, Hocus said it right. It was
- 20:43Speaker 4: a gutless play, that's what that is. And usually when
- 20:46Speaker 4: you do that, you have to pay the price, and
- 20:48Speaker 4: that's what happened. I think it also showed to the
- 20:50Speaker 4: Bond that the Rangers had right the reaction there with
- 20:53Speaker 4: the too many men after that, I think that it
- 20:56Speaker 4: just shows what the Rangers had as well in that
- 20:59Speaker 4: dressing room, how closely where's a group And I think
- 21:01Speaker 4: it's yeah, it's a gotless play. It's a play. It's
- 21:04Speaker 4: not a hockey play. For those fans though, going on
- 21:06Speaker 4: social media messaging the guy like come on, guys, grow up,
- 21:11Speaker 4: kind of be adults here. But uh, I think that uh.
- 21:15Speaker 4: I think like, yeah, I think you definitely regret it
- 21:17Speaker 4: for sure. And I know that the suspension from the
- 21:21Speaker 4: NHL that was involved in this, I think that you
- 21:25Speaker 4: know everything that came about it. I think there's a
- 21:27Speaker 4: teaching experience as well, but definitely a gotless play and
- 21:31Speaker 4: until play that shouldn't be in the game, and and
- 21:32Speaker 4: it isn't accepted in the game. When the league's going
- 21:35Speaker 4: to uh, the league's going to showcase why it's not
- 21:37Speaker 4: accepted in the game. Yeah. Uh.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Before we move on to Gwelph, quickly shout out Red
- 21:44Speaker 3: Wings first rounder Carter Bear four goals in the tournament,
- 21:46Speaker 3: tied for second most in the year.
- 21:48Speaker 4: I just wanted to make.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Sure I got that in there.
- 21:51Speaker 4: He did.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a big boy you're going at It knocks
- 21:58Speaker 3: you down, it happens, happens, but yeah, exactly.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:03Speaker 3: So so GWELP is next. The twenty twenty seven Memorial
- 22:07Speaker 3: Cup is at the Sleeman Center. A shoutout Dylan Baker
- 22:11Speaker 3: for all of his hits on social media and Joki
- 22:15Speaker 3: Row about where he's gonna be in twenty twenty seven.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I think the Grand River is a great idea, so
- 22:21Speaker 3: I wanted to give a shout out to d Banks there.
- 22:23Speaker 3: But yeah, the gwelf Storm are up season ticket holders.
- 22:27Speaker 3: I believe you can get your tickets as of right
- 22:29Speaker 3: now with special discounts for tickets as well. I believe
- 22:33Speaker 3: save up to as much as twenty bucks a game.
- 22:36Speaker 3: I believe it's part of the promos, so that's awesome,
- 22:39Speaker 3: the part of the ticket package for the twenty twenty
- 22:41Speaker 3: seven Memorial Cup. One thing I wanted to point out,
- 22:45Speaker 3: hopefully they don't have a Colowna showing. It was very
- 22:48Speaker 3: unfortunate for the Colowna Rockets, but they were shut out
- 22:51Speaker 3: twice both against Kitchen Rangers and the Everetts Silver Tips,
- 22:54Speaker 3: and they just scored two goals in three games, so
- 22:58Speaker 3: that's a little bit tough. It's the lowest in a
- 22:59Speaker 3: turn and it was previously achieved by, believe it or not,
- 23:04Speaker 3: the nineteen ninety six gwelf Storm. So oh no, let's
- 23:09Speaker 3: let's knock on some wood to say that it's not
- 23:11Speaker 3: going to happen. I think we can talk about something
- 23:14Speaker 3: with on the ice, with the with the gwelf Storm
- 23:17Speaker 3: and Quinboshane not going to be a part of this
- 23:19Speaker 3: group for the twenty twenty seven Memorial Cup, which is
- 23:23Speaker 3: a move. But but also you can look at it, well,
- 23:25Speaker 3: if he didn't want to stay, then he might lose out.
- 23:28Speaker 3: He might luck out on a ring or two. So
- 23:31Speaker 3: it is what it is. They just got to move on.
- 23:34Speaker 3: I think I think a lot of people are fired
- 23:36Speaker 3: up for you know, it was a seven year hiatus
- 23:38Speaker 3: that the Memorial Cup was not in the Ontario Hockey League,
- 23:41Speaker 3: mostly because of COVID and the hundredth Memorial Cup and
- 23:44Speaker 3: almost pretty in utral everyone. Yeah, Gwelf's kind of in
- 23:48Speaker 3: the middle of everything in Ontario, which is which is nice.
- 23:51Speaker 3: So it's it's finally back in Ontario for the first
- 23:54Speaker 3: time since Windsor in twenty seventeen.
- 23:58Speaker 4: So bring up on you know what this for GWELF,
- 24:05Speaker 4: I love. I love the approach really. Colonna approached it early,
- 24:08Speaker 4: the same way with the ads and stuff during Memorial Cup.
- 24:10Speaker 4: It's always like this. I think for GWELF that the
- 24:13Speaker 4: city appeal two hundred and fiftieth year for GWELF, I
- 24:17Speaker 4: think that's a lot of the promotion. Team has a
- 24:20Speaker 4: lot behind the scenes going on there in the city
- 24:23Speaker 4: of Gwelf for the tournament that looks really neat. The
- 24:27Speaker 4: team has a lot of work to do. The team
- 24:29Speaker 4: has a lot of work to do to be competitive,
- 24:32Speaker 4: and I think for the Memorial Cup host from what
- 24:34Speaker 4: I saw from Colonna, it's gonna get harder and harder.
- 24:36Speaker 4: I mean, we're not I don't think anybody's surprised with
- 24:39Speaker 4: Colonna's results at the Mortal Cup. I thought that, you know, yeah,
- 24:43Speaker 4: they were in games with the two teams they lost too,
- 24:45Speaker 4: they weren't. But I think that you look at these games,
- 24:49Speaker 4: you look at Colonna, and I think throughout the year
- 24:51Speaker 4: you're looking at the Western Hockey League standings and I'm thinking,
- 24:54Speaker 4: I don't know, like this might be tough, right, like
- 24:57Speaker 4: can teach again, I'll have a big night and that
- 24:59Speaker 4: possibly wins you one game the mem Cup. But like
- 25:02Speaker 4: there's a lot of work to do in gwelf there's
- 25:04Speaker 4: a lot there's a lot of work to do and
- 25:08Speaker 4: all accounts, there is no pre determined trade or pre
- 25:11Speaker 4: approved trade with UH Branford for Klen Manholtra. That's not
- 25:15Speaker 4: a thing. And I mean, back up the brinks truck.
- 25:18Speaker 4: If you're gonna trade for Kaylen Manoltra, whom in to college,
- 25:22Speaker 4: gonna go be a top five pick in the NHL draft,
- 25:25Speaker 4: so m you have to pay a lot. But I
- 25:27Speaker 4: just think that with with Gwelph, there's a lot of
- 25:30Speaker 4: pieces here that they got to put together. You gotta
- 25:33Speaker 4: be able to sign a lot of free agents. When
- 25:36Speaker 4: saw them yet losing Boshane hurts. Gotta be able to
- 25:38Speaker 4: keep current players on your roster happy enough to stick
- 25:43Speaker 4: around for next season. Hopefully that's enough. Kind of hosting
- 25:46Speaker 4: them Cup nowadays, I don't know if it is. I
- 25:49Speaker 4: never thought I would have been watching Memorial Finals and
- 25:51Speaker 4: they're talking about where Land and Dehat's going to college
- 25:53Speaker 4: and next tomorrow, Like I never thought I would have
- 25:56Speaker 4: been able. I never thought I would have watched the
- 25:57Speaker 4: world like that. But I just thought. I just think
- 26:00Speaker 4: that for them in Gwelph, you got to continue to
- 26:03Speaker 4: build off free agents. You gotta get those freebies right,
- 26:07Speaker 4: quality ads kind of get the depth. Ads, have a
- 26:12Speaker 4: good third fourth line, create that depth, and then you're
- 26:15Speaker 4: gonna have a first round pick next week that'll probably
- 26:18Speaker 4: get moved by January tenth, and we'll see what happens. Right,
- 26:22Speaker 4: But I think there's a lot of pieces and now
- 26:23Speaker 4: Golf's on the clock, and I'm sure they got a
- 26:26Speaker 4: big plan roster wise, so they wouldn't have got the
- 26:27Speaker 4: mem Cup if not, but a lot of pressures on
- 26:30Speaker 4: after seeing Kitchener go and win the mem Cup like that.
- 26:32Speaker 4: If they're pivotive, hey here we go. Because all I
- 26:34Speaker 4: could think of if Golf wasn't in it, or if
- 26:36Speaker 4: Kitchener didn't, if they got the mem Cup and they
- 26:39Speaker 4: didn't make the Samuel Riley trade, I don't think Golf
- 26:41Speaker 4: would have made the same move. If Golf was in
- 26:43Speaker 4: that spot. I think they were this year away got
- 26:45Speaker 4: the goaltending. So we'll see what happens.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree to some tough news for Colin and
- 26:51Speaker 3: I and Bulldogs fans, but some great news for Jamickee
- 26:54Speaker 3: in the New York Islanders organization because Jamickey is headed
- 26:58Speaker 3: back to Hamilton, this time in the American Hockey League.
- 27:01Speaker 3: We knew it was just a matter of time whether
- 27:03Speaker 3: it was going to be a job in the National
- 27:04Speaker 3: Hocketion League or the American Hockey League. It does happen
- 27:08Speaker 3: to be in the American Hockey League with the new
- 27:11Speaker 3: affiliate for the Islanders in Hamilton, the Hamilton Hammers. But
- 27:15Speaker 3: Jay Mickee won one impressive resume from his time in
- 27:18Speaker 3: the Ontario Hockey League. Started off and as an assistant
- 27:22Speaker 3: with the Eerie Otters, was the head coach in Kitchener,
- 27:25Speaker 3: head coach in Hamilton and Brantford. Nineteenth most wins all
- 27:30Speaker 3: time in the Ontario Hockey League. I mean just with
- 27:33Speaker 3: the Bulldogs two thirteen, ninety one, thirty and six, including
- 27:37Speaker 3: a championship in twenty and twenty two where he should
- 27:42Speaker 3: have won Coach of the Year. But that's another conversation
- 27:45Speaker 3: that we've heldled. Yeah, this, like I said, this sucks
- 27:54Speaker 3: for us.
- 27:54Speaker 4: I was expected. Yeah, it was inevitable.
- 27:58Speaker 3: It was inevitable to happen, and we couldn't be happier
- 28:00Speaker 3: for Ja Mickee again and Spencer Hyman, I thought said
- 28:03Speaker 3: it perfectly is uh, you know they're they're here to
- 28:07Speaker 3: develop too. It's not just players, it's staff, it's it's coaches,
- 28:10Speaker 3: whatever the case might be. It's exact same. And and
- 28:13Speaker 3: again there's there's something up on the Bulldogs website. There's
- 28:15Speaker 3: obviously an article for the Hamilton Hammers for the Ontario
- 28:19Speaker 3: Hockey League that has a number of quotes from Bulldogs
- 28:22Speaker 3: personnel and including Jamickee. So please go read that if
- 28:27Speaker 3: you have the time to do so. But Colin, we're
- 28:29Speaker 3: just your thoughts on Jamickee, you know, being around him
- 28:33Speaker 3: for the last four years, five years, you could say,
- 28:35Speaker 3: because we were there in twenty twenty two when they
- 28:38Speaker 3: won the championship. But just a great dude when he's
- 28:43Speaker 3: not on the ice and not coaching talking with us
- 28:46Speaker 3: after afterwards. But uh, just a great coach, a great dude,
- 28:51Speaker 3: and and couldn't be happier for him.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Got tired of her, You got tired of sharing the
- 28:54Speaker 4: same stories after every game. That's what it was. That's
- 28:57Speaker 4: what it was.
- 28:58Speaker 3: He told us that trade story from Sudbury to Niagara
- 29:01Speaker 3: falls one too many trade deadline Yeah, yeah.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Yeah, every trade deadline. But Jay, Jay was great. I
- 29:09Speaker 4: mean he's a great person, one of the best people
- 29:12Speaker 4: you can work with. I mean, he's incredible, the what
- 29:15Speaker 4: the person he is. He's a great actor, he's a
- 29:18Speaker 4: great magician. He can do it all, you can do
- 29:21Speaker 4: it all. He's got a great car collection. Just an
- 29:24Speaker 4: absolute beauty. Jay McKee is. I mean, like you said,
- 29:28Speaker 4: lose ten to nothing, lose one nothing, I'm gonna come
- 29:32Speaker 4: out right. So post game, he's always out there. As
- 29:36Speaker 4: BC says in the chat here, great saber, great saber.
- 29:40Speaker 4: It's unfortunate though Buffalo doesn't have what they have to
- 29:43Speaker 4: have the goods to get them. I don't understand that.
- 29:46Speaker 4: But uh, I think for Jay, it's it was inevitable.
- 29:51Speaker 4: It was gonna happen. I mean, this is the easy
- 29:54Speaker 4: move for him to go to Hamilton. Right lives in Buffalo.
- 29:57Speaker 4: It's right there in Hamilton. Saved twenty minutes to a
- 30:01Speaker 4: half hour from driving to Branford. He's still gonna be
- 30:03Speaker 4: in I got the text message from Jay after I
- 30:07Speaker 4: sent him attack, Hey have fun on camera now in
- 30:10Speaker 4: the pros. Lol. But he he said he's still gonna
- 30:14Speaker 4: be paying attention, just in a different capacity. It's like, Oh,
- 30:17Speaker 4: you're gonna be that guy from like, Oh, Jay from
- 30:20Speaker 4: Buffalo comments and I do better covering the team stuff
- 30:26Speaker 4: like that, So I know it's gonna be fun. Almost
- 30:28Speaker 4: hit us, almost hit us with his car at the
- 30:31Speaker 4: ownership change press conference in Branford a couple of years ago. Yeah,
- 30:35Speaker 4: he's a great guy, Jay McKee. Not one bad thing
- 30:39Speaker 4: to say about Jay. It'll be great to see what
- 30:41Speaker 4: he does in Hamilton, though I think that this is
- 30:43Speaker 4: a little This isn't gonna be a long term thing
- 30:46Speaker 4: before he's up in the pros.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Agreed, Yeah, it just and and we thought it had
- 30:51Speaker 3: a chance to happen last year in Philly. But it's
- 30:54Speaker 3: tough to say no to Rick Talckett. Yeah you're Dan,
- 30:57Speaker 3: but that was a year. It's an awesome story, absolutely,
- 31:02Speaker 3: But I mean in Brantford alone one twenty nine, forty nine,
- 31:07Speaker 3: twenty two and four, was nineteen and thirteen in the playoffs,
- 31:10Speaker 3: in Hamilton eighty four forty two, eight and two and
- 31:13Speaker 3: had an eighteen and seven record in the postseason three
- 31:17Speaker 3: East Division Championships, two spectator trophies. Got a Bobby Or
- 31:20Speaker 3: he's got a j Ross Robertson. He's got a Memorial
- 31:25Speaker 3: Cup final appearance as well. And you know he was
- 31:28Speaker 3: the head coach of the Champion of Champions the Hamilton
- 31:31Speaker 3: Bulldogs in twenty twenty two before they lost to a
- 31:35Speaker 3: first round exit in the Saint John Sea Dogs. Yeah,
- 31:38Speaker 3: we're not gonna talk about that, but yeah, this is
- 31:41Speaker 3: this is cool again. Congratulations Jay McKee. We will miss
- 31:45Speaker 3: you in the OHL, but we know you're gonna kick
- 31:47Speaker 3: ass with the Hamilton Hammers back at now TD Coliseum.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Familiar building, but it's gonna look a little bit different.
- 31:54Speaker 4: I know, I know his father, I know his dad
- 31:58Speaker 4: tuned in right now, big fall, big follow on social media,
- 32:03Speaker 4: Jay's dad, and I know I know this is gonna
- 32:05Speaker 4: get back to Jay. But I hope, hopefully, hopefully we
- 32:09Speaker 4: can get him on here to talk about the rip
- 32:11Speaker 4: when he ripped the suit in the Memorial Cup Finals.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Best story of all time from Ja McKee when he
- 32:17Speaker 4: ripped his suit in twenty twenty two before the OHL
- 32:19Speaker 4: Finals right in the butt, guys, right, we gotta get
- 32:23Speaker 4: him on to talk about that. That was lucky suit.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Dude's the Superstation suit, the light blue. I always bug
- 32:29Speaker 4: them about his suits always. He's a great suit collection.
- 32:33Speaker 4: I mean, if you're a coach broadcaster, you gotta have
- 32:35Speaker 4: a good suit collection. That's the name of the game.
- 32:38Speaker 4: And I always think that's cool. It's better than a
- 32:40Speaker 4: car collection to suit collection. I think that that's I
- 32:43Speaker 4: think that's sweet. But yeah, what a guy.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Yeah uh. Speaking of the Bulldogs, we're gonna stick with them.
- 32:50Speaker 3: A guy that Ja mickee just coached this season after
- 32:54Speaker 3: he was acquired from the gwelf Storm. Charlie Piquette signs
- 32:57Speaker 3: with the Texas Stars for the twenty twenty six seventh season.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Of course, the draft pick of Dallas back in the day.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Another dude that you know, the Bulldogs sort of had
- 33:07Speaker 3: a string of these at the deadline where you know
- 33:10Speaker 3: they they weren't necessarily the same obviously they weren't the
- 33:14Speaker 3: same person. That's a stupid thing to say, but they were.
- 33:17Speaker 3: They had different characteristics altogether. When you look at oays
- 33:20Speaker 3: and really rough and rugged guys at the deadline, it
- 33:23Speaker 3: was danil Sobilev a few years ago, it was Tommy
- 33:25Speaker 3: Budnick in twenty twenty four, twenty twenty five, and then
- 33:29Speaker 3: it's Charlie Piquette here in two thousand and twenty five,
- 33:32Speaker 3: twenty twenty six, that just came in and worked his
- 33:35Speaker 3: butt off and was tough to play against. He was strong,
- 33:37Speaker 3: he was physical, he went to the net. He had
- 33:40Speaker 3: every attribute you could want. And a guy you acquire
- 33:43Speaker 3: at the deadline when you need to be a little
- 33:44Speaker 3: bit bigger and need to get a little bit more physical.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Charlie Piquette brought that to the table and a great
- 33:50Speaker 3: dude off the ice. Loved chatting with him, got to,
- 33:53Speaker 3: you know, chat Windsor pizza. I know we do that
- 33:55Speaker 3: way too often nowadays, but there's nothing wrong with that.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Thanks Joey, congratulations to shout out Joey Costanzo. Uh but
- 34:06Speaker 3: but Charlie Piquette, this is great to see for him
- 34:08Speaker 3: in Essex native I grew up in Windsor. He did
- 34:12Speaker 3: as well in the Windsor area, and yeah, congratulations on
- 34:15Speaker 3: signing your contract.
- 34:16Speaker 4: It was inevitable.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Again, just like Jamiekee, we knew Charlie Piquette was going
- 34:19Speaker 3: to get a contract.
- 34:20Speaker 4: It was just a matter of where. Yeah, players gravitate
- 34:23Speaker 4: to his personality too, the personality he has right like,
- 34:26Speaker 4: it's a magnet for players. I mean, he's a leader.
- 34:30Speaker 4: He had that affecting gwelf. You look at that affecting
- 34:32Speaker 4: gwelf when Jett Lechenko got shipped out, and then it's
- 34:35Speaker 4: just basically Charlie Piquette there before everyone else moves out right,
- 34:39Speaker 4: and you look at the effort he put in with
- 34:42Speaker 4: the Guelf Storm in that time period before getting moved
- 34:45Speaker 4: to the Bulldogs, and then you look at him coming
- 34:46Speaker 4: with the Bulldogs. What he's done there, every single step
- 34:50Speaker 4: that he's had. He's a leader, he's a man. You
- 34:54Speaker 4: look at the way he plays Charlie Piquette. Nothing better
- 34:57Speaker 4: to say about him. It's great he got the hl
- 34:59Speaker 4: deal with Texas and I can't wait. I hope, I hope.
- 35:02Speaker 4: And that's the thing with the AHLDA. I know this
- 35:05Speaker 4: is an oil show. Don't get away from the demographic calling,
- 35:08Speaker 4: but one thing with the AHL that kind of sucks
- 35:11Speaker 4: is being a red wing fan Grand Rapids Griffins. I've
- 35:14Speaker 4: never played the Providence Bruins before. Texas Stars are probably
- 35:17Speaker 4: aren't gonna play the Hamilton Hammers, but it would be
- 35:19Speaker 4: really cool to get the Texas Stars Hamilton Hammers game
- 35:22Speaker 4: in Hamilton. See Charlie Paquette, because he's gonna have a
- 35:25Speaker 4: great professional career in the AHL for a long time
- 35:29Speaker 4: and hopefully the National Hockey League one day as well
- 35:32Speaker 4: for Charlie. But a great player, some great person.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Yeah, uh, we mentioned it already. Uh kind of but
- 35:40Speaker 3: but Jack Pridam was traded on June first, once the
- 35:43Speaker 3: calendar flipped to the new month. Happy June everybody. Chicago
- 35:48Speaker 3: receives a twenty twenty seven third round pick in exchange
- 35:51Speaker 3: for Jack Pridham, who now goes to the Tampa Bay
- 35:54Speaker 3: Lightning again. It was rumored that Pridam was not going
- 35:57Speaker 3: to be signed by the Chicago Blackhawks and there was
- 35:59Speaker 3: a chance he would potentially re enter the draft, which
- 36:04Speaker 3: I was in a thousandth cent sure he could do
- 36:07Speaker 3: it his age. I was proven wrong, but yeah, this
- 36:11Speaker 3: is uh, you know, they'll retain his rights Tampa will
- 36:14Speaker 3: It sounds like he's off to school in the fall,
- 36:16Speaker 3: so it might not be another for another couple of
- 36:19Speaker 3: years that we see Jack Pridham in the NHL.
- 36:21Speaker 4: But good for.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Him to be in this situation, right, it didn't look
- 36:25Speaker 3: like he was gonna work out in Chicago. You know,
- 36:27Speaker 3: Tampa Bay seems to be really interested, and well they
- 36:31Speaker 3: acquired Sam O'Reilly and Edmonton's probably kicking them themselves, and
- 36:34Speaker 3: after watching Jack Pritams perform up, I think they're gonna
- 36:37Speaker 3: be pretty happy with with this move. So so congrats
- 36:41Speaker 3: to Jack. Congrats to the Tampa Bay Lightning on making
- 36:45Speaker 3: this trade, because I think they've got a pretty good
- 36:46Speaker 3: one who will arrive in a couple of years and
- 36:49Speaker 3: be a force. I'm sure it's gonna be nice to
- 36:51Speaker 3: reunite with Sam O'Reilly once that once that day comes.
- 36:55Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, you got two years to work with him,
- 36:56Speaker 4: the Tampa Bay Lightning. I'm sure why not. Why wouldn't
- 36:59Speaker 4: you want to go to Tampa I know, and if
- 37:01Speaker 4: he goes to the University of Denver, if he goes there,
- 37:04Speaker 4: I mean, as a Broncos fan, can snow there in
- 37:07Speaker 4: September and be summer out in November, so it depends
- 37:10Speaker 4: on the wind and depends on the mountains. But Broncos Country,
- 37:13Speaker 4: that's ride. That's Ray BC in the chat here. But
- 37:16Speaker 4: I think that I think with Jack, I mean Tampa
- 37:19Speaker 4: Bay is a great spot for Tampa. I mean, yeah,
- 37:22Speaker 4: I'd be going after Dylan Edwards. Now you gotta get
- 37:24Speaker 4: the Trio. You gotta get the Trio if you're the
- 37:28Speaker 4: Tampa Bay Lightning. I mean that would be incredible. But uh, Mark,
- 37:31Speaker 4: that down is an effect when it happens still in
- 37:33Speaker 4: Edwards to Tampa Bay Lightning. I think that Jack Pridham
- 37:37Speaker 4: everything he brought in the mem Cup, like you said, honestly,
- 37:40Speaker 4: if it wasn't for O'Reilly winning the MVP and the
- 37:42Speaker 4: Ohl winning the MVP in the playoffs, Pridham wins MVP
- 37:46Speaker 4: and Mortal Kupper Christian Kurch and those two would be
- 37:49Speaker 4: probably my one and two votes in the Cup. And
- 37:52Speaker 4: I think for Jack, I think for Jack, when he's
- 37:54Speaker 4: brought at the table the shot that he has speed
- 37:59Speaker 4: with the park. I think Chicago there's a little bit
- 38:01Speaker 4: of a log jam there with prospects. I think that's
- 38:03Speaker 4: why the delay on signing. And I think you go
- 38:05Speaker 4: to Tampa Bay, you get that opportunity. Prospects pool isn't
- 38:09Speaker 4: as deep as a team like Chicago. I think for
- 38:13Speaker 4: Tampa Bay, I mean, this is the Dylan James trade
- 38:16Speaker 4: written all over it. If you're Lighting fans and if
- 38:18Speaker 4: you're Blackhawk fans, it's a nightmare after what they went
- 38:21Speaker 4: through previously. But I think with I think for your freedom,
- 38:24Speaker 4: this is great for Jack. I mean every opportunity in
- 38:27Speaker 4: Tampa Bay. It's great weather. Why wouldn't you love that? Especially?
- 38:30Speaker 4: You know it's nice. You know it's nice. When you
- 38:32Speaker 4: go into Tampa Bay and you see on the trade
- 38:35Speaker 4: graphic presented by Florida Blue, that's it. I know it's
- 38:39Speaker 4: a medical I know it's medical. But when you see
- 38:41Speaker 4: the Florida writing, the Florida writing itself just speaks shorts
- 38:44Speaker 4: in February, golf in March, it's like, hey, how you
- 38:48Speaker 4: doing wrestler? Gator in April. But it's all good. But
- 38:52Speaker 4: I think that, uh, I think it's I think it's
- 38:54Speaker 4: a great spot Tampa Bay. I think the prospects poolit
- 38:56Speaker 4: he fits that perfectly right too.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Maybe other than the Memorial Cup and j McKee getting
- 39:04Speaker 3: a pro job the own Sound Attack, a Niagara ice
- 39:07Speaker 3: Dog's making headlines throughout this tournament. We're gonna get to
- 39:11Speaker 3: Niagaran just the second here while Colin Ward warms up
- 39:14Speaker 3: the the engine. But starting in Owen Sound they have
- 39:19Speaker 3: their new bench boss. It is Attack alumni Keenan Reynolds,
- 39:24Speaker 3: named head coach by Tyler, another former fourth round pick
- 39:28Speaker 3: of the Owen Sound Attack back in two thousand and fourteen.
- 39:32Speaker 3: He's coached with Napian of the chl Akady Bathurst of
- 39:35Speaker 3: the QMJHL, and of course was an assistant coach with
- 39:39Speaker 3: the Eerie Otters for the twenty twenty five twenty twenty
- 39:43Speaker 3: six season. Completed his Bachelor of Arts high distinction. By
- 39:48Speaker 3: the way, I don't know what that is. I was
- 39:51Speaker 3: way off of that, but in political science from Carlton
- 39:54Speaker 3: University before completing his MBA at the Smith School of Business.
- 39:58Speaker 3: So from all counts, calling this is one hell of
- 40:02Speaker 3: a higher for the for the Owen Sound Attack. You know,
- 40:04Speaker 3: they're they've been running and they are they are off
- 40:08Speaker 3: and ready to go. They've got things moving along pretty
- 40:11Speaker 3: nicely here early on in the new tenure of the
- 40:14Speaker 3: of the new ownership.
- 40:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I like this. I like the youth movement. I
- 40:17Speaker 4: think that's I think it's kind of the new age
- 40:19Speaker 4: to ohl Chl. I think that you gotta have some youth.
- 40:22Speaker 4: I think they kind of locked that last season. I'm
- 40:24Speaker 4: interested in seeing, though, what happens when they hit adversity
- 40:27Speaker 4: as a franchise. If it's a losing streak like last season,
- 40:31Speaker 4: what it is I'm interested to see. There's a veteran
- 40:33Speaker 4: presence that say, hey, put the hand on the shoulder
- 40:35Speaker 4: and say, hey, take a breath right now, take a look,
- 40:38Speaker 4: you know, use your head to be clear with that.
- 40:40Speaker 4: But I think that, yeah, I think that that's the
- 40:43Speaker 4: only thing I have questions about. But I I other
- 40:45Speaker 4: than that, I think I'm excited for that. That's a
- 40:47Speaker 4: what if, right, what if it doesn't happen? Right? I
- 40:49Speaker 4: think for Keen Reynolds, young player, young coach, he's a
- 40:53Speaker 4: young player. I think I think this is great. I
- 40:55Speaker 4: think it's a great movement for them.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree. And and with this, of course, it
- 41:01Speaker 3: was announced as well Dale de Gray will not be
- 41:03Speaker 3: back with the Owen Sound Attack. A lot of people
- 41:07Speaker 3: in Owen Sound seemed very thankful for that, but it
- 41:11Speaker 3: is hard to ignore what he did accomplish there, And
- 41:14Speaker 3: we've knocked him a few times on here based basically
- 41:17Speaker 3: the last five seasons, but he did bring a championship,
- 41:21Speaker 3: or help bring a championship to this to this city
- 41:24Speaker 3: and to this organization. They've competed in a Memorial Cup,
- 41:28Speaker 3: They've they've had a number of star players part of
- 41:31Speaker 3: their organization. Nick Suzuki, Jordan Bennington, you know, et cetera. So, yes,
- 41:38Speaker 3: we've knocked him for the last four or five years,
- 41:41Speaker 3: but also it's hard to ignore what he did the
- 41:43Speaker 3: previous ten to fifteen years in Owen sounds so now
- 41:48Speaker 3: it's just a it's a new era with the attack
- 41:50Speaker 3: and well it didn't take long for Dale de Gray
- 41:53Speaker 3: to find a new job, although I'm sure this was
- 41:55Speaker 3: just all molded in together because he's headed to Niagara,
- 41:59Speaker 3: Colin and conversation in the Non London We had this
- 42:04Speaker 3: conversation previous in previous shows where it was rumored that
- 42:08Speaker 3: he was headed to Niagara. It is just a matter
- 42:10Speaker 3: of it becoming official. Well it's official now. Uh So,
- 42:15Speaker 3: the the Niagara Ice Dogs do have their new general manager.
- 42:19Speaker 3: After it was announced that Frank Evela would not be
- 42:22Speaker 3: returning to the club, Dale de Gray new GM in Niagara,
- 42:27Speaker 3: and not just that, the Ice Dogs also making an
- 42:31Speaker 3: operational update as well. I'm just trying to pull up
- 42:35Speaker 3: the statement here. Brandon's got it on the screen at
- 42:37Speaker 3: a boy not the first, No, it's talker me will
- 42:42Speaker 3: last either, So essentially it essentially reads The Niagara Ice Dogs,
- 42:47Speaker 3: in conjunction with the Ontario Hockey League, have announced operational
- 42:50Speaker 3: updates designed to strengthen both the business and hockey operations
- 42:54Speaker 3: of the organization while positioning the franchise for long term
- 42:57Speaker 3: success in Niagara. Part of the updates, the OHL will
- 43:02Speaker 3: take on increased involvement in supporting the day to day
- 43:05Speaker 3: operations of the hockey club, providing additional leadership resources and
- 43:08Speaker 3: organizational support. Then they go on to say the Niagara
- 43:13Speaker 3: Ice Dogs and the OHL will continue working collaboratively to
- 43:16Speaker 3: provide the best possible experience for players, fans, corporate partners,
- 43:20Speaker 3: built families, and the greater Niagara community. There's a lot
- 43:25Speaker 3: in there. So, along with Dale the Gray joining the
- 43:29Speaker 3: organization as the general manager, Jason Diplock, the OHL Senior
- 43:33Speaker 3: Director of League Development, has been appointed to oversee the
- 43:36Speaker 3: restructuring and day to day business and front office operations
- 43:41Speaker 3: of the Niagara Ice Dog. So that includes so if
- 43:43Speaker 3: you've ever been to the Meridian Center for any Ice
- 43:45Speaker 3: Dogs fans, you walk in through the door that's on
- 43:48Speaker 3: the four h six side of the building, it sounds
- 43:51Speaker 3: like he is mostly taking care of everything in the office.
- 43:54Speaker 3: To the right, straight in, it leads you into the
- 43:57Speaker 3: hallway towards the ice You turn left, it's the room
- 44:00Speaker 3: you'd go right, it's the business office. So it looks
- 44:02Speaker 3: like Dale de Grace headed one way, Jason Diplocks headed
- 44:05Speaker 3: the other way.
- 44:06Speaker 4: Five Colin, is it c Five?
- 44:12Speaker 3: Is it about time that the league has stepped in
- 44:16Speaker 3: this capacity? I think we had this conversation maybe a
- 44:18Speaker 3: year or so ago. I know you've got some thoughts
- 44:22Speaker 3: to share, and by it's about time. I hope that
- 44:25Speaker 3: doesn't come across as sounding very negative. I'm sure it does.
- 44:29Speaker 3: But at the same time, like the way the direction
- 44:31Speaker 3: they were going in, something had to happen here, and
- 44:34Speaker 3: the OHL has finally said, all right, that's enough. It's
- 44:37Speaker 3: up to us now to kind of fix everything because
- 44:39Speaker 3: this is a successful market. We've seen it in the past. Yes,
- 44:42Speaker 3: there have not been any championships yet. But there have
- 44:44Speaker 3: been two Ohl Championship finals appearances. It got two Bobby
- 44:47Speaker 3: Or trophies. There's a division title thrown in there. You know,
- 44:50Speaker 3: they can work in Niagara. It's just a matter of
- 44:53Speaker 3: having the right people in the right places and you know,
- 44:56Speaker 3: hoping that they they get that moving forward starting with
- 44:59Speaker 3: the twenty six twenty seventh season.
- 45:01Speaker 4: Anyone in the Greater Niagara area are ready, cross your fingers. Ready,
- 45:06Speaker 4: let's all cross our fingers. Please, for the love of God,
- 45:10Speaker 4: let this be the last single time we have to
- 45:12Speaker 4: talk about something culture, something lack of business strengths, lack
- 45:17Speaker 4: of roster management, a lot of being not very good
- 45:22Speaker 4: and not making right decisions. Please let this be the
- 45:24Speaker 4: last time we don't make a right decision. All right?
- 45:28Speaker 4: And hey, I'm very happy that their press release that
- 45:31Speaker 4: they didn't say and collaborate with a lot of Knights.
- 45:34Speaker 4: But thank god it didn't say but you know, well,
- 45:38Speaker 4: I'll actually colin.
- 45:39Speaker 3: One thing you didn't know is that the London Knights
- 45:41Speaker 3: were a part of moving Dale to Great out of
- 45:43Speaker 3: the Midwest Division, so they would not have to worry
- 45:46Speaker 3: about Dale to Great teams anymore.
- 45:48Speaker 4: London East, Yeah, I think that I you know, there's
- 45:52Speaker 4: a reason why they haven't switched for the last in Niagara.
- 45:55Speaker 4: Eerie drives right through there to go to catching her.
- 45:57Speaker 4: But there's a reason. But no, I I just think
- 46:00Speaker 4: that we need to be Like I said this before,
- 46:04Speaker 4: I hate going off on the nigger ice dogs every
- 46:07Speaker 4: other week. I really do, believe it or not fans
- 46:09Speaker 4: that now. I'm just having fun with it. The London
- 46:11Speaker 4: stuff's all jokes, but stop doing it and I will.
- 46:14Speaker 4: But uh, I just think that stop trading a captain. Please,
- 46:18Speaker 4: don't trade a captain, mister Dale de Gray. Don't keep
- 46:22Speaker 4: the streak alive. Don't draft someone in the first round
- 46:25Speaker 4: and trade them to London for nothing. Yeah, just please? Yeah,
- 46:30Speaker 4: I honestly I think that's all the fans want Niagara,
- 46:33Speaker 4: Like it's the same thing every year and we just
- 46:36Speaker 4: want a different pattern. I think if anyone in the OHL,
- 46:39Speaker 4: it's a bad look. The OHL clearly thought it was
- 46:42Speaker 4: a thanks to the bad luck. Why are they doing
- 46:44Speaker 4: this right? Like, I mean, there was a fun in
- 46:47Speaker 4: the movie theater night last night when it happened in
- 46:49Speaker 4: the London Star, but it happened in Niagara one. But uh,
- 46:53Speaker 4: I just think that it's one of those things that
- 46:56Speaker 4: you gotta find a way to get some consistency trust
- 47:00Speaker 4: the process. You get a business guy in there to
- 47:02Speaker 4: run the business side and run the office, that's huge.
- 47:05Speaker 4: You get somebody in there to run the front office
- 47:07Speaker 4: who has a long history. I mean, yes, there's been
- 47:10Speaker 4: ups and downs. I think there's only there's nobody better
- 47:13Speaker 4: at winning thirty games of year as a general manager
- 47:15Speaker 4: than Dale to Gray and the INTI Hockey League. The
- 47:18Speaker 4: Ice Dogs need to win more than thirty desperately. I
- 47:23Speaker 4: I don't know, Like I wasn't too positive on the
- 47:26Speaker 4: last couple of seasons for Dale to Gray and on
- 47:28Speaker 4: it sounds so I don't know what to think of this.
- 47:30Speaker 4: I just hope it somehow works. Maybe you put bad
- 47:33Speaker 4: seasons and horrible last ten years together and we'll see
- 47:38Speaker 4: what happens. Hopefully it maybe works. I hope it does, though,
- 47:41Speaker 4: I really do. The league needs Niagara to work. Everyone
- 47:45Speaker 4: needs Niagara to work in the OHL. It's a great market.
- 47:48Speaker 4: It's gotta work, and it's an and it would be
- 47:50Speaker 4: unfortunate if it doesn't. So I don't know. I don't know,
- 47:53Speaker 4: Like I just hope, I hope that it's not next year.
- 47:57Speaker 4: Come November, it's November trade captain time of the year.
- 48:01Speaker 4: And I then January trade another captain again. I hope
- 48:05Speaker 4: it's not. You know, November comes, we are going to
- 48:08Speaker 4: trade our captain again. March comes, we got a culture review,
- 48:12Speaker 4: April comes were on the couch, we got a general man,
- 48:15Speaker 4: we got a new coach. We got a new general manager.
- 48:17Speaker 4: That'll probably come soon too with the coach.
- 48:19Speaker 3: But that's what I was just about to mention, right,
- 48:21Speaker 3: you're also looking for a little bit of consistency behind
- 48:24Speaker 3: the bench. Chris BArch was on a one year deal.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Could he be back, Sure, but Dale de Gray might
- 48:28Speaker 3: want one of his guys, not saying BArch isn't he
- 48:31Speaker 3: farewell could have a great relationship with him. But you know,
- 48:35Speaker 3: at the end of the day, let's have the same
- 48:36Speaker 3: bench boss for more than a year at a time.
- 48:38Speaker 4: I think that'll be That'll be huge.
- 48:40Speaker 3: And just more consistency. You're right, roster wise, front office wise,
- 48:44Speaker 3: in the business side, we like we we kind of
- 48:47Speaker 3: understand the communications side of it a little bit, maybe
- 48:50Speaker 3: you know, on the sales side of it a little bit,
- 48:52Speaker 3: but like in terms of tickets smart like you know,
- 48:55Speaker 3: corporate sponsorships, all that kind of stuff, like who knows
- 48:59Speaker 3: what has fixed in that area, Like we're not privy
- 49:02Speaker 3: to that. Again, we maybe understand some of the social
- 49:05Speaker 3: media and communications things, but we're not going to talk
- 49:08Speaker 3: about that. Uh yeah, hopefully hopefully they're turning over a
- 49:11Speaker 3: new leaf in Niagara.
- 49:12Speaker 4: That would be that'd be right.
- 49:14Speaker 3: The league would love Niagara to. They need to be
- 49:17Speaker 3: healthy again as an organization, I think is the best
- 49:20Speaker 3: term I can use.
- 49:21Speaker 4: They got to get better. They have to. I mean,
- 49:24Speaker 4: I don't know what else you can do right after that?
- 49:25Speaker 4: What else is next? Right? Like it's eventually you know,
- 49:29Speaker 4: you go on two three days a year and then
- 49:31Speaker 4: all of a sudden you got to realize it's on yourself. Right,
- 49:34Speaker 4: maybe you're not the stud that maybe you're not the
- 49:37Speaker 4: stud you know, Like I don't, I don't know, but
- 49:39Speaker 4: I hope. I just hope. I just hope that something happens,
- 49:43Speaker 4: you know, maybe maybe take take twenty it works, you know,
- 49:48Speaker 4: like we'll see, but like how many you don't see
- 49:51Speaker 4: twenty chances too often in the Entiro Hockey League, right,
- 49:54Speaker 4: So we'll see. I hope it works, So I really do.
- 49:57Speaker 4: I like I said, I'm tired of cutting it up
- 49:59Speaker 4: all the time, Like I don't even I'm running out
- 50:01Speaker 4: of ranch to talk about him and keep going back
- 50:03Speaker 4: to my old deep pocket on London because that's the
- 50:06Speaker 4: only thing I got that in Captain See.
- 50:09Speaker 3: But yeah, four oh seven Eton tad to watch part
- 50:16Speaker 3: of a part of the young Prospect Pool with the
- 50:19Speaker 3: Tampa Bay Lightning that includes Sam o' riiley and now
- 50:21Speaker 3: Jack pritdam so.
- 50:24Speaker 4: All over the.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Ohl kind of at this point, but we've got.
- 50:27Speaker 4: About yeah Tampa got about.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Tennis minutes left or so in in the show, essentially
- 50:36Speaker 3: to look ahead to the trade window in the draft.
- 50:39Speaker 3: So the trade window opens up June second. I expect
- 50:43Speaker 3: it to be fairly busy, to be honest with you,
- 50:46Speaker 3: because the draft has not been in June for a
- 50:50Speaker 3: number of years. We got to get used to it
- 50:52Speaker 3: being this late and after the season. So whether that
- 50:56Speaker 3: means the gwelve storm or getting started early on en
- 50:59Speaker 3: route hosting them all Oial Cup, whether some of the
- 51:01Speaker 3: teams that went for it and didn't you know, end
- 51:04Speaker 3: up winning, are starting to recoup their assets. We're looking
- 51:07Speaker 3: at potentially the Barry Colts, Branford Bulldogs, windsor spit Fires,
- 51:12Speaker 3: Flint Firebirds, certain teams kind of in that group. And
- 51:17Speaker 3: you know, I'm sure the Kitchen Rangers are gonna be
- 51:19Speaker 3: partying for the next five to six days, but Mike
- 51:22Speaker 3: McKenzie is will be right back to work. I can
- 51:24Speaker 3: guarantee that getting ready for for next season. And I mean,
- 51:28Speaker 3: I think it'd be hilarious to have Kitchen or Gwelf
- 51:30Speaker 3: in the Memorial Cup together. That'd be awesome. Yeah, I think, yeah,
- 51:35Speaker 3: there'd be a lot of work to do, that's for sure.
- 51:37Speaker 3: So let's let's I guess, start with the trade window calling.
- 51:40Speaker 3: I mean, are you expecting guns blazing right off the
- 51:44Speaker 3: hop Is it gonna be a little quiet for the
- 51:46Speaker 3: first few days until we get closer to the draft?
- 51:48Speaker 3: What are what are you thinking?
- 51:49Speaker 4: I think there's gonna be a lot of moves. I
- 51:50Speaker 4: think there's at least gonna be six moves within the
- 51:54Speaker 4: first forty eight hours of the trade window opening up.
- 51:58Speaker 4: I think there's gonna be a lot. I think a
- 52:00Speaker 4: lot of teams are gonna hey, we're gonna pick a
- 52:02Speaker 4: direction this early in the offseason, and that's just gonna
- 52:05Speaker 4: be what we're gonna do. Right, Like, I think teams
- 52:07Speaker 4: want to pivot quickly. You look at a team like Branford, right,
- 52:10Speaker 4: you look at a team like Gwelf roughing opposite directions, right,
- 52:13Speaker 4: they got a Welf right Like. I don't know if
- 52:16Speaker 4: you want to have too much patience, right, you kind
- 52:18Speaker 4: of want to have a good team going in the camp.
- 52:19Speaker 4: You want to leave no doubt. After seeing what we
- 52:21Speaker 4: saw in Kelowna, I think it's getting harder and harder
- 52:23Speaker 4: to host the mem Cup with the NCAA. I mean
- 52:27Speaker 4: we saw with Boshane right last week. That definitely does
- 52:29Speaker 4: not help. So I'm looking at it where I think
- 52:33Speaker 4: team's got to be proactive. I think you gotta be
- 52:35Speaker 4: aggressive early. I think you gotta find a way. And
- 52:37Speaker 4: I think that you're seeing teams make signings early, right,
- 52:41Speaker 4: that that also means someone's on their way out. That
- 52:43Speaker 4: doesn't mean, right, you're not in a perfect world. Yeah,
- 52:46Speaker 4: you'd love to keep those guys. But if you sign
- 52:49Speaker 4: five to six players, that probably means three to four
- 52:52Speaker 4: players are on their way out. Right, there's only six
- 52:55Speaker 4: defensemen that play every game, right, and if you have
- 52:57Speaker 4: eleven defensemen, well that's not gonna work. You're not gonna
- 53:00Speaker 4: send seventeen year olds back to Junior B or the
- 53:03Speaker 4: OJHL right when they're ready to be in the OHL
- 53:06Speaker 4: if their top four round pick in the OHL draft. Right, So,
- 53:10Speaker 4: there's a lot of decisions to be made around the league,
- 53:12Speaker 4: and I think those situations are gonna be a thing.
- 53:14Speaker 4: You're gonna see guys get opportunity else where, fresh starts elsewhere,
- 53:20Speaker 4: and moves like that will definitely see. So I think
- 53:23Speaker 4: I think for sure we're gonna see a lot of
- 53:25Speaker 4: moves come up here in the next coming days and
- 53:27Speaker 4: I think it'll be great.
- 53:30Speaker 3: Of course, that leads into the in person draft that's
- 53:32Speaker 3: taking place in Kingston. The OHL did put out top
- 53:37Speaker 3: prospects for this draft. Of course, the Aushawa Generals do
- 53:40Speaker 3: have the first overall pick. Kato Rourke not going to
- 53:45Speaker 3: be a part of this year's draft, He will be
- 53:47Speaker 3: a part of the twenty twenty seven OHL priority selection
- 53:52Speaker 3: Colin Ward, Who are a couple of names that stand
- 53:55Speaker 3: out to you here? Obviously they've got Tanner Adams rank
- 53:58Speaker 3: number one, King Klutch at number two, Adrian scro at
- 54:01Speaker 3: number three there, but local marigs brother, Yeah, yeah exactly,
- 54:07Speaker 3: So who jumps that like who jumps out at you.
- 54:10Speaker 3: I think it's easy to pick the top five some
- 54:12Speaker 3: guys from there, but I mean included in them. Who
- 54:15Speaker 3: are you most excited for? Man, there's a lot.
- 54:17Speaker 4: I mean, Brandon, you were at the Prospects camp as well,
- 54:22Speaker 4: and I know Logan Proud More Proud Home a huge,
- 54:27Speaker 4: huge guy. Yeah, brand Justson there comments six seven. That's
- 54:30Speaker 4: I mean the size there speaks, speaks volumes to the
- 54:33Speaker 4: way he plays as well. To that size, I think
- 54:36Speaker 4: that's appealing. I mean the skating's gotta be there a
- 54:39Speaker 4: little bit more. Drew Bait was really good with the
- 54:42Speaker 4: London Junior Knights. There's a couple of London guys here
- 54:46Speaker 4: on the board. Those are always interesting ones for me personally.
- 54:50Speaker 4: Cash Quajah is a very interesting pick. I mean that
- 54:54Speaker 4: Tron Junior Canadian team was so good and he was
- 54:56Speaker 4: a huge part of that team with Kato Rouric, and
- 54:58Speaker 4: you watch what he did the h Cup. He didn't
- 55:00Speaker 4: fall short. Colin Kennedy was unbelievable in Little Caesars. A
- 55:06Speaker 4: lot of guys, I mean Lucius Uh, Lucian Uh will
- 55:09Speaker 4: wheeling with Quinny he was good as well. With Qyd.
- 55:14Speaker 4: There's a lot of there's a it's a decent draft.
- 55:17Speaker 4: The draft is interesting to me because I feel like
- 55:19Speaker 4: the draft has changed a little bit because of the
- 55:23Speaker 4: free agent aspect. But at the end of the day,
- 55:25Speaker 4: when you're looking, I mean, it's nice to have control
- 55:27Speaker 4: over a player for at least two years. When you
- 55:29Speaker 4: assign these college guys, there's no guarantee you're gonna get
- 55:32Speaker 4: them long term, at least with the draft, to get
- 55:34Speaker 4: guys through two to three years instead just one year
- 55:36Speaker 4: maybe two. Right, I think that that's where the draft
- 55:39Speaker 4: still means a lot, and I think that really going
- 55:41Speaker 4: to see that this week with the trade window here
- 55:45Speaker 4: opening up heading into the draft, I think we're really well,
- 55:48Speaker 4: we're gonna see a lot of those types of moves.
- 55:49Speaker 4: And I truly think that with this draft, I think
- 55:52Speaker 4: that it's it's really tight up top. When you had
- 55:55Speaker 4: Cato Rourke. I think Tanner Adams is in this number
- 55:58Speaker 4: one on a lot of boards, so they probably expect
- 56:01Speaker 4: the Oshawa generals to take them. Kne Clutia coolest name
- 56:06Speaker 4: in the draft. That's that's a sweet name. I think
- 56:10Speaker 4: that I think the draft's gonna be good. I mean
- 56:12Speaker 4: every year, right, there's somebody who goes. The interesting pick
- 56:16Speaker 4: to me is who goes from like fifteen to twenty.
- 56:19Speaker 4: It is a stud next year because every year you
- 56:22Speaker 4: see a guy. Because let's remember the drafts are interesting.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Those middle of the pack, middle of the pack from
- 56:28Speaker 4: like pick six to thirteen in the Atario Hockey League,
- 56:32Speaker 4: those are the teams that are interesting picking in that mix, right,
- 56:35Speaker 4: because those are the teams on the cusp of Hey
- 56:38Speaker 4: next year is are years so you add this top
- 56:40Speaker 4: six pick to be really good, they leave the wall
- 56:42Speaker 4: storm right host of the Cup? Where's this pick going
- 56:46Speaker 4: next season? Right? If they're gonna host the m Cup,
- 56:49Speaker 4: I don't think they're gonna have their sixteen year old
- 56:50Speaker 4: a top a top fifteen pick on their roster next
- 56:54Speaker 4: year come January tenth. I don't think that's gonna be
- 56:56Speaker 4: a thing. If you want to actually be a legitimate
- 56:58Speaker 4: Worial Cup host, you gotta go all in. I don't know.
- 57:00Speaker 4: I don't think that's gonna be the gwelf Storm. I'm
- 57:02Speaker 4: interested to see how that plays out from a standpoint
- 57:05Speaker 4: of the gwell Storm. But usually teams in the draft, right,
- 57:08Speaker 4: this is the pick you make or hey next year, right,
- 57:11Speaker 4: like this is kind of our window here to go
- 57:13Speaker 4: for it. And usually when you're in the bottom five
- 57:15Speaker 4: from fifteen to twenty, it's like, well, this year gives
- 57:18Speaker 4: us a next year top ten pick, next top ten
- 57:21Speaker 4: pick gives us maybe a top another top ten, top
- 57:25Speaker 4: five pick. We'll see what happens, right, So every year
- 57:28Speaker 4: that's kind of a cyclo jenior hockey, So we'll see
- 57:30Speaker 4: what happens with them. But I think that I think
- 57:33Speaker 4: it's gonna be a good draft, and I think that
- 57:34Speaker 4: I'm excited to see that in person stuff. I think
- 57:37Speaker 4: that's gonna be cool. I think that the league's just
- 57:40Speaker 4: really needed that, and I think it's just a second
- 57:42Speaker 4: way to create a tension where we're not looking at
- 57:44Speaker 4: a screen for six hours with the same same TV
- 57:48Speaker 4: show that really okay, like you.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Know, kind of run its course.
- 57:53Speaker 4: Yeah, it gets boring. So I think that that's I
- 57:56Speaker 4: think that the draft in person is gonna be huge.
- 57:58Speaker 4: Just can't talk on the panel, can't teach. You can't
- 58:02Speaker 4: teach size like the NHL did. It was brutal last
- 58:05Speaker 4: year the NHL draft. Every single player, you can't every
- 58:08Speaker 4: single analyst, you can't teach size. Wow, no kidding, I'm
- 58:15Speaker 4: six three, other person six foot. There's a difference, all right,
- 58:19Speaker 4: but moving Yeah, hopefully there's more in depth, learn something
- 58:25Speaker 4: something Yeah, Mickey.
- 58:26Speaker 3: Redman again in June twelfth, thirteenth, that is when the
- 58:32Speaker 3: draft will take place in Kingston. Everyone, thank you so

- 59:33Speaker 3: stays in the ohl Wardy.
- 59:35Speaker 4: Yeah, congrats to the Rangers. You know, it's really cool
- 59:37Speaker 4: too to see someone like Mike Farwell call a game
- 59:40Speaker 4: like that. He's putting a lot of time and play
- 59:42Speaker 4: by play and the radio side thanks to be able
- 59:44Speaker 4: to call a win like that. That's cool. Only one
- 59:46Speaker 4: out of sixty one every year get to do it now, right,
- 59:48Speaker 4: So that's cool that Mike got the last call, last
- 59:52Speaker 4: positive call through at the CHL So congrats on that.
- 59:55Speaker 4: Josh Brown, Avid listener to the show, Sorry for the
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: withdraw this summer, and uh, congrats on being able to
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: cover a team, right, like a championship team. I mean,
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: that's cool when you get to cover a team like
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: that and you know you're in Kelowna, you go through that.
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: That's that's right on. So congrats on being able to
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: cover a team. I know that'll be the first chance.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: That's the first championship team you got to cover, So
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: that's pretty cool. You know you're putting the you're putting
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: a long time work, and uh, it's more than just
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: a team that gets to win a championship. When you
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: get to cover him, right, So that's pretty cool for
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: Josh too as well. So congrats on that, guys, and
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: congrats on the Rangers and uh, we'll be back talking
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: about you say a hocus, going to uh the NHL
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: or the AHL. He done with the Rangers. Oh my god,
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: he's too good. He's too good. Yeah.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: Congratulations to the entire Kitchen Rangers organization. Twenty twenty six
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Memorial Cup champions. Thanks so much for tuning in to
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: the show for BC and Colin Ward. I'm Reese Domani
