- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mike klaan big win last night for one at
- 0:03Speaker 1: home against Nashville. You pushed that point street to six games.
- 0:06Speaker 1: What went right in your opinion for your group.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Oh, we had a good start, which was nice to see.
- 0:13Speaker 2: You know. We came out of the gates and got
- 0:16Speaker 2: a lead, played pretty well with the lead for the
- 0:19Speaker 2: most part. You know, you find that in this league
- 0:22Speaker 2: when you're up two or three, the team that's behind,
- 0:27Speaker 2: as as a rule of thumb, doesn't really have anything
- 0:30Speaker 2: to lose at that point, so they're pretty loose, you know.
- 0:34Speaker 2: So I thought we were very committed in you know,
- 0:37Speaker 2: taking care of our own zone and blocking shots and
- 0:39Speaker 2: things like that when we were up to protect the lead.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Nashville on this backen of a back to back, they
- 0:44Speaker 1: had some spurts and when they got their first goal,
- 0:46Speaker 1: it seemed like their only goal that next shift or
- 0:49Speaker 1: two for them. They had a bit of momentum going.
- 0:51Speaker 1: What was the mindset on the bench about quelling a
- 0:55Speaker 1: potential upstart from them, especially for a team that was
- 0:58Speaker 1: desperate like they weren't.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we knew that we had to manage the pocket,
- 1:03Speaker 2: you know, and just play smart. And I thought that
- 1:08Speaker 2: there was a period of time where they started to
- 1:10Speaker 2: win more battles than us and which put us under duress.
- 1:15Speaker 2: We rectified that a little bit, but certainly, you know,
- 1:19Speaker 2: I think we can be better with that lead, and
- 1:22Speaker 2: we haven't had one of those leads for a while,
- 1:24Speaker 2: so it was a good learning experience for us.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I know you haven't been asked about the fourth line
- 1:30Speaker 1: in probably about twelve hours, So let me ask you
- 1:32Speaker 1: about the fourth line once again. Someone I heard the
- 1:35Speaker 1: other day called them the identity line for this team.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And when you when you want a team to play well,
- 1:40Speaker 1: that those are the three guys that you're looking at.
- 1:42Speaker 1: What did you like about their performance two points in
- 1:45Speaker 1: that first period and again continually leading the charge and
- 1:48Speaker 1: seemingly leading the way in terms of playing the game
- 1:51Speaker 1: the way that you want to see it played.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that's uh. You see that a lot of a
- 1:55Speaker 2: fourth lines. That's, in my opinion, is the way to
- 1:59Speaker 2: build a hockey team. You have to have an identity line,
- 2:02Speaker 2: a fourth line that can go out there and do
- 2:04Speaker 2: the dirty things for you, and you're also trusting them
- 2:07Speaker 2: in the defensive zone for defensive zone face us, which
- 2:10Speaker 2: is very important tonight. You know, in order for us
- 2:13Speaker 2: to be able to put out Benier's line or rights
- 2:17Speaker 2: line or Stevenson's line in the offensive zone all the time,
- 2:19Speaker 2: we have to curb some of those minutes when they
- 2:22Speaker 2: face office down in our zone. So that's why it's
- 2:24Speaker 2: very important to have a responsible fourth line. Certainly, you know,
- 2:28Speaker 2: these guys have energy, they're banging bodies and they're just
- 2:31Speaker 2: playing the game the right way.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Found out earlier today that Coppolo, Coaco and Ellie Tolvenin
- 2:36Speaker 1: will be joining Philip Grubauer representing their respective countries, Finland
- 2:40Speaker 1: and Germany in the upcoming Olympics. What's it like for
- 2:43Speaker 1: you to have three Olympians now on your team? A
- 2:46Speaker 1: little bit of a feather in your cap to be
- 2:48Speaker 1: able to say that, Hey, I help coached up a
- 2:49Speaker 1: couple of Olympians and what do they mean to this
- 2:52Speaker 1: team moving forward?
- 2:53Speaker 2: Well, those guys have been coached up well before me.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You're a part of it, though you play a big
- 2:58Speaker 1: part of it.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I will tell you that. You know, from an organizational standpoint,
- 3:03Speaker 2: you know, it's a really nice thing to have. You know,
- 3:06Speaker 2: starts right at the top with management, so you know,
- 3:10Speaker 2: and these guys, uh, you know, to your point, it's
- 3:13Speaker 2: a feather in their cap. They're obviously super excited about it,
- 3:18Speaker 2: and it's an opportunity for them to go compete against
- 3:21Speaker 2: the best in uh, you know, the best tournament. Uh
- 3:24Speaker 2: we have right now, best on best kind of thing.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Then you get another kick at the Vancouver can after
- 3:29Speaker 1: a three to shootout loss back on Monday, in a
- 3:31Speaker 1: game in which you said it yourself, you felt the
- 3:33Speaker 1: team played very well. You were happy with that performance
- 3:36Speaker 1: for you, Is it a simple manner of rinse and
- 3:39Speaker 1: repeat with with the effort here tonight?
- 3:41Speaker 2: We'd like to do that. Yeah, I thought we played
- 3:43Speaker 2: well enough to win the hockey game, and we didn't.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I thought their goaltender was really good. You know, but we, uh,
- 3:50Speaker 2: we have to make sure that we take that formula,
- 3:53Speaker 2: continue to attack, continue to stay on our toes, and
- 3:57Speaker 2: continue to push the push the envelope north, be smart.
- 4:01Speaker 2: It's a back to back for us. Uh. You know,
- 4:03Speaker 2: we're gonna need Joey to play well and have him
- 4:07Speaker 2: you know, move box for us as well. So you know,
- 4:10Speaker 2: it's a good challenge for us.
