Luna: Perfect. I feel like I'm almost ready to go to a real Danish zoo and try these out. Lucas: Almost. Let's start with an easy one. Can I feed the animals? In Danish: Kan jeg fodre dyrene? Luna: Kan jeg fodre dyrene? Lucas: Exactly. Kan jeg fodre dyrene? Good. Now, what if you want to ask what the animals eat? Hvad spiser dyrene? Luna: Hvad spiser dyrene? That's like, what do the animals eat? Lucas: Right. Hvad spiser dyrene? Let's hear you try it. Luna: Hvad spiser dyrene? Lucas: Yes. So you ask that, and maybe the zookeeper says, the animals eat fruit. Dyrene spiser frugt. Luna: Dyrene spiser frugt. The animals eat fruit. Lucas: Yeah. Or they might say, you may give them food. Må jeg give dem mad? Actually, that's a question: may I give them food? Må jeg give dem mad? Luna: Må jeg give dem mad? That's a bit like asking permission, right? Lucas: Yes, exactly. And finally, if you want to ask if you can touch them: Må jeg røre ved dem? Luna: Må jeg røre ved dem? That's an important one. You probably shouldn't touch the animals, but good to know how to ask. Lucas: True. So let's do a quick roleplay. Luna, you're at the zoo and you see a zookeeper. You want to ask if you can feed the animals. Luna: Kan jeg fodre dyrene? Lucas: And the zookeeper says yes, you can, and tells you what they eat. Dyrene spiser frugt. Luna: So they eat fruit. Then I might ask, Må jeg give dem mad? Lucas: Yes, and the zookeeper says, yes, you may. And then you ask, Må jeg røre ved dem? Luna: Må jeg røre ved dem? And I hope the answer is no, for safety. Lucas: Probably. But now you have the phrases. Let's run through them one more time. Kan jeg fodre dyrene? Luna: Kan jeg fodre dyrene? Lucas: Hvad spiser dyrene? Luna: Hvad spiser dyrene? Lucas: Må jeg give dem mad?
