- 1:15Speaker 2: talk about Melody Millerman's book, Truth Found Me, A Life
- 1:19Speaker 2: Too Wild to be Coincidence. Ooh, I love that subtitle.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I'm going to say it again. A life too wild
- 1:27Speaker 2: to be coincidence. Oh, so perfect. Melody was born. Melody
- 1:33Speaker 2: was born. I don't know where you were born actually,
- 1:35Speaker 2: but I'm going to say that you're an author, a
- 1:37Speaker 2: retired nurse, a journalist who traveled solo through 40 countries
- 1:41Speaker 2: in 12 months on $ 1, 200 in 1973. Passionate about alternative medicine.
- 1:49Speaker 2: She reversed bone loss, PMS, menopause symptoms. and even a
- 1:54Speaker 2: bone-on-bone knee injury from her pickleball enthusiasm with natural remedies.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Her memoir, Truth Found Me, shares adventures and miracles with authenticity, humor,
- 2:07Speaker 2: and unforgettable storytelling.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I am so lucky to have you on my show.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Oh, you're kind. You're kind.
- 2:16Speaker 2: It's really true. I am also somebody who has just
- 2:19Speaker 2: really relied on my inner guidance and and alternative health
- 2:24Speaker 2: for many, many years. And so I really love especially
- 2:30Speaker 2: what I just read about your healing journey, which I
- 2:33Speaker 2: want to hear more about. And I am someone who
- 2:36Speaker 2: loves to travel. And I would say in the last
- 2:39Speaker 2: five or six years, I just turned 60. So about
- 2:43Speaker 2: in the last five or six years, I've really taken
- 2:46Speaker 2: on a lot of travel. And I'm so enjoying myself.
- 2:49Speaker 2: So wow to what you have done.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I can't wait to hear.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Welcome to the show, Melody. It's so nice to have you.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Thank you. What a thrill. What a thrill. Let's get
- 3:00Speaker 3: into the love stuff. Yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 2: So truth found me. So let's start with that. That's
- 3:05Speaker 2: the title of your book. Is it your first book?
- 3:08Speaker 4: It is my first book and I've been working on
- 3:11Speaker 4: it since 2010.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. I totally understand.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Well, and I think when you finish the last chapter
- 3:21Speaker 4: and put a period at the end of the paragraph,
- 3:25Speaker 4: that's it.
- 3:27Speaker 3: A book happens.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:29Speaker 4: There's a whole new education for me how to get
- 3:32Speaker 4: a book out.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Of your computer and into the world.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yes. Same.
- 3:37Speaker 3: And it launches next week. It most likely will launch
- 3:40Speaker 3: next week. And I'm just so thrilled. It's like, yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 3: due date has come.
- 3:45Speaker 4: I just thought due date should have been a year ago.
- 3:50Speaker 2: It takes a long time to get a book out
- 3:51Speaker 2: into the world. That is true. It was my experience
- 3:54Speaker 2: as well between the writing and the publishing. So I
- 3:57Speaker 2: just want to say to our listeners that the book
- 4:00Speaker 2: will be out sometime in the middle to the end
- 4:02Speaker 2: of June, 2026. And since these shows are evergreen, we
- 4:06Speaker 2: don't know when people are going to be listening, but
- 4:08Speaker 2: just know that the book was published around that time.
- 4:11Speaker 2: And you can find Truth Found Me, I'm assuming, on
- 4:15Speaker 2: Amazon and other perhaps online bookstores. So tell me and
- 4:22Speaker 2: tell us how it arrived inside you to write a
- 4:28Speaker 2: book called Truth Found Me.
- 4:33Speaker 4: It was, in my case, it was the Lord. He
- 4:37Speaker 4: told me to write my story. I was like, I
- 4:40Speaker 4: don't want to write a book.
- 4:41Speaker 3: And this was 2010.
- 4:43Speaker 4: And every time he just, you know, he has a
- 4:47Speaker 4: way of nagging you. and reminding you and reminding you.
- 4:52Speaker 3: And et cetera.
- 4:53Speaker 4: And every time I heard the word story, whether it
- 4:57Speaker 4: was in a song or whether it was on a
- 4:59Speaker 4: TV show or whatever story, I've got to write my story.
- 5:02Speaker 4: So I said I would. And so I started writing
- 5:06Speaker 4: it and then I stopped. I went through a very
- 5:09Speaker 4: long caretaking of my last husband because he was, went
- 5:14Speaker 4: through COVID, got cancer. And so I, You know, that
- 5:18Speaker 4: took a little hiatus of writing. And all the time,
- 5:23Speaker 4: I wasn't arguing the whole time. I knew I had
- 5:26Speaker 4: to finish it, but I just don't like to write.
- 5:29Speaker 3: What can I say? I don't like to write. It's hard,
- 5:32Speaker 3: hard work. Wow.
- 5:34Speaker 4: And I wouldn't have a story like this if I
- 5:37Speaker 4: was a sit down and be by myself person.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I am not. That is not my nature. It was hard.
- 5:43Speaker 4: And so I mostly did it somewhere between one or
- 5:46Speaker 4: two in the morning and four or five in the
- 5:48Speaker 4: morning because you're not missing anything.
- 5:55Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 5:56Speaker 3: So I would write in the middle of the night. Yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I would say for me that the middle of the night,
- 6:01Speaker 2: I've done a lot of writing myself in the middle
- 6:03Speaker 2: of the night. And although I also just published my
- 6:06Speaker 2: first book, I have started many books in the last
- 6:09Speaker 2: 12 years or so. And yeah, the middle of the
- 6:13Speaker 2: night is a great time to write. I feel like
- 6:16Speaker 2: it's quiet. You can hear the kind of messages that
- 6:20Speaker 2: are coming through. My intuition is more open. There's no distractions.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Like you said, there's nothing else to tend to. So
- 6:27Speaker 2: I hear you about that middle of the night, middle
- 6:30Speaker 2: of the night.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Nothing else is really distracting you at that point.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:35Speaker 3: You can scroll.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Your phone and I have stopped and worked on a
- 6:39Speaker 4: few words with friends, words, but.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah, So you talked about coincidence. And I'm sure my
- 6:46Speaker 2: audience is on the edge of their seat to hear, like,
- 6:49Speaker 2: what were the coincidences that came to be that have
- 6:53Speaker 2: created your life or created this book?
- 6:56Speaker 3: Well, I think more important is the probably a life
- 6:59Speaker 3: too wild.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Because I had finished college, University of Texas in Austin,
- 7:06Speaker 4: party school. And then I flew to Florida to live
- 7:10Speaker 4: with a former colleague. roommate that I had in college
- 7:13Speaker 4: didn't have any place else to go.
- 7:14Speaker 3: And I thought, well, I'll just go live with her.
- 7:16Speaker 3: She invited me. And so I worked there for a while.
- 7:20Speaker 4: And then I got a job, you know, a wonderful
- 7:24Speaker 4: career job in Naples, Florida, working for an advertising man.
- 7:29Speaker 3: And he made me the art director of the advertising agency.
- 7:32Speaker 3: But it wasn't just maybe a month or two in.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Then I, you know, take him some artwork that we're
- 7:39Speaker 4: working on a you know, a client's project or something.
- 7:42Speaker 4: And up came his hand between my legs and started
- 7:45Speaker 4: putting hands where I didn't want. And I was like,
- 7:50Speaker 4: this is the inauguration of me too, way back in
- 7:54Speaker 4: 1970 to 1973. So yeah, well, it, it wasn't the
- 8:01Speaker 4: career job I was hoping for, but instead, um, I
- 8:06Speaker 4: told him I'd do him a year. I would work
- 8:08Speaker 4: with him for a year until he got his advertising
- 8:10Speaker 4: agency was from Pennsylvania. And so he was trying to
- 8:14Speaker 4: establish one in the South and in his retirement.
- 8:17Speaker 3: And you know what? I, I promised him.
- 8:20Speaker 4: A year, but before long, when I said, no, no, no, no, no,
- 8:25Speaker 4: there came some other artists with their portfolios interviewing and
- 8:29Speaker 4: his door would go closed.
- 8:31Speaker 3: And then I was out the door. He fired me.
- 8:35Speaker 3: And I'm like, In fact, I just wrote an article
- 8:38Speaker 3: called Fired Into Freedom. Oh, there you go.
- 8:42Speaker 4: This is not a great start to a career, but
- 8:45Speaker 4: am I glad to be out of there?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, of course.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Don't break any promises. But on the way home, I
- 8:51Speaker 3: didn't go by the unemployment office.
- 8:54Speaker 4: I didn't go pick up an application for someplace else.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I went to the post office. What did I pick
- 8:59Speaker 3: up there? Application for a passport. Thought, I am going
- 9:03Speaker 3: to retire. I just, you know, I hate. I don't
- 9:06Speaker 3: want this. Maybe this isn't the career I want after all.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Maybe I'm building this.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Ladder against the wrong building and I'll get to the
- 9:14Speaker 4: top and go, where am I?
- 9:16Speaker 3: What is this for?
- 9:17Speaker 4: Maybe I'll have wasted years getting to the top, climbing
- 9:21Speaker 4: that ladder and go like this.
- 9:23Speaker 3: So I'm going to go check out the rest of
- 9:24Speaker 3: the things.
- 9:25Speaker 2: In 1973, you said, I think I'm going to retire.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I'm just going to retire first. I have energy. I
- 9:32Speaker 3: had $ 1, 200. What more did one need to see the world? Yeah.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Tell us, how was it? Where did you go?
- 9:40Speaker 4: Well, I flew and I had another girlfriend who was
- 9:42Speaker 4: a roommate from college and she was living in Germany.
- 9:44Speaker 3: So I, I flew to Luxembourg. That was where my
- 9:47Speaker 3: ticket took me.
- 9:48Speaker 4: I went to Germany and just to get my bearings,
- 9:51Speaker 4: my feet under me and figure out where I'm going
- 9:53Speaker 4: to go first, decided to go to Paris and head
- 9:56Speaker 4: down to Spain because I had seven years of Spanish.
- 9:59Speaker 3: How much more do you need to make your way?
- 10:03Speaker 4: Well, I just realized when I got down there, I
- 10:05Speaker 4: had enough to get me in trouble and not near
- 10:07Speaker 4: enough to get out.
- 10:07Speaker 3: That's why I got in so much trouble.
- 10:10Speaker 4: The Spanish men had a whole different culture thing than
- 10:14Speaker 4: I was. I mean, here I had long blonde hair
- 10:16Speaker 4: and traveling just single people. Hey, I was, there was
- 10:21Speaker 4: three men that attacked me on the beach that I
- 10:23Speaker 4: should not have lived through. They took a t-shirt, put
- 10:27Speaker 4: it over my face and tried to smother me and
- 10:29Speaker 4: take advantage.
- 10:30Speaker 3: And how did I get out of that? That was
- 10:33Speaker 3: like three in the morning. How did I get out
- 10:35Speaker 3: of that? Well, that you have to see the book.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You have to read the book. Okay. Wow.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Traveling in Madrid on a, I was just on the
- 10:43Speaker 4: regular city bus and, But everybody else had gotten off,
- 10:46Speaker 4: and he drove me out to the country, locked the doors,
- 10:48Speaker 4: and started chasing me around the bus.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I'm like, hmm, how do I get out of this?
- 10:53Speaker 3: You have to read the book, find out.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Wow, you've had some really tense experiences of abuse.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Rome was the most intense. I thought, I'm going there.
- 11:05Speaker 4: If I'm going to stay south, like Spain and Italy
- 11:08Speaker 4: are about the same. I'm going to find some friends.
- 11:11Speaker 4: So I picked some up in Switzerland, and the three
- 11:14Speaker 4: of us picked up a couple of other guys, and
- 11:16Speaker 4: the five of us were walking through Rome. And two
- 11:19Speaker 4: of them were fast walkers.
- 11:20Speaker 3: They were in the front. Two were kind of medium walkers.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I was the slow one, but I was right behind them.
- 11:25Speaker 4: But walking next to a park at night, here comes
- 11:29Speaker 4: an arm, and half nelsons me into the park.
- 11:33Speaker 3: I look up, and there's eight Roman guys. How do
- 11:36Speaker 3: I get out of that?
- 11:37Speaker 1: Wow.
- 11:38Speaker 3: You have to find out.
- 11:40Speaker 2: OK, you're leaving us on the edge here, Melody. But
- 11:44Speaker 2: it sounds like you've been into really dangerous situations.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Very, very.
- 11:48Speaker 4: But that was the life too wild. And it was
- 11:51Speaker 4: not coincidence that I was being protected. There was a
- 11:55Speaker 4: hand protecting me in all of these things.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Yeah, beautiful.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Wow.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Sounds like you grew up with a lot of faith.
- 12:03Speaker 2: I'm curious about that now.
- 12:05Speaker 3: My parents didn't believe we didn't go to church as
- 12:07Speaker 3: a family. Oh, okay.
- 12:09Speaker 2: So this was just your own awakening that there's been
- 12:13Speaker 2: a hand protecting you.
- 12:15Speaker 3: In the 40th country. 40 countries to get my attention.
- 12:18Speaker 3: 40 countries.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Wow.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Was that the biggest lesson of that year?
- 12:21Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure it was. It changed my life.
- 12:25Speaker 4: I did a 180, walking and fulfilling my own desires
- 12:29Speaker 4: and doing my own thing.
- 12:30Speaker 3: I was actually in Wales.
- 12:35Speaker 4: It was a Sunday. It was an afternoon. I laid
- 12:38Speaker 4: down just to wait for the boat to go to Ireland.
- 12:40Speaker 4: And I needed to finish four more countries. That's England, Ireland,
- 12:45Speaker 4: and Scotland. Well, three more countries.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Oh, and Wales. Wales was where I was.
- 12:49Speaker 4: And I woke up and I had excruciating pain in
- 12:52Speaker 4: my right side. And I said, wow, at least I've
- 12:55Speaker 4: had my health. What do I do now? And went
- 12:58Speaker 4: to a bar. And I said, is there a clinic
- 13:00Speaker 4: or something? I can just ask what's going on with
- 13:02Speaker 4: my body.
- 13:03Speaker 3: And they.
- 13:04Speaker 4: called me an ambulance. So all the way in the
- 13:06Speaker 4: back of the ambulance to the hospital, I cried my
- 13:09Speaker 4: eyes out. Was it because it was the pain? No,
- 13:13Speaker 4: it was because I had been so independent.
- 13:16Speaker 3: I didn't want anybody depending on me, me depending on nobody.
- 13:20Speaker 4: I just put my thumb on the road and just
- 13:21Speaker 4: kept on my way that I was isolated.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I was alone. There was nobody there.
- 13:26Speaker 4: And I realized, wow, I had made my God independence,
- 13:31Speaker 4: but this is the end result of.
- 13:32Speaker 3: That kind of independence.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Wow. Powerful.
- 13:37Speaker 4: That was an eye opener. So then actually the next day,
- 13:40Speaker 4: the pain had subsided. The doctors looked at me and
- 13:43Speaker 4: poked my stomach and said, we'll.
- 13:47Speaker 3: See what happens in the morning.
- 13:48Speaker 4: I was like, wow, if this was the United States,
- 13:50Speaker 4: there'd be x-rays, there'd be lung tests and all that
- 13:53Speaker 4: kind of stuff.
- 13:54Speaker 3: No, they just gave me a bed and laid me down. Wow.
- 13:58Speaker 3: And woke up without pain.
- 13:59Speaker 4: I thought, well, I don't want a hospital bill, so
- 14:01Speaker 4: I'll just go ahead and leave before anybody else is up.
- 14:06Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 14:08Speaker 2: So you said you did a 180 when you got
- 14:11Speaker 2: back from the trip.
- 14:13Speaker 3: So what did that? No, it was the next day.
- 14:16Speaker 4: The next day after that experience, I was in Dublin
- 14:20Speaker 4: and a guy stopped me in the street and he said,
- 14:24Speaker 4: started talking to me about the Lord, giving me some literature.
- 14:27Speaker 3: And I said, oh, I became a Christian when I
- 14:29Speaker 3: was 12.
- 14:30Speaker 4: I didn't grow up in a Christian family, but my
- 14:32Speaker 4: sister was an influence and she took me to all
- 14:34Speaker 4: this stuff.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Youth for Christ stuff and church and youth groups.
- 14:38Speaker 4: And all this kind of stuff all that time I
- 14:40Speaker 4: just go anywhere to get out of the house.
- 14:43Speaker 3: The car's going I'm in it let's go yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 4: And um anyway he looked at me and he said
- 14:51Speaker 4: it didn't take I said well who do you think
- 14:54Speaker 4: you are to judge me it's like.
- 14:56Speaker 3: I can tell by your lifestyle you don't know him.
- 15:00Speaker 4: So he said just join me and my friends for
- 15:02Speaker 4: pizza I was like I was so lonely by that time.
- 15:06Speaker 4: I would have gone out on a date with a
- 15:08Speaker 4: sidewalk if it would have talked to me.
- 15:10Speaker 3: I was lonely.
- 15:12Speaker 4: So I said, yeah, I'll meet y'all for pizza. Well,
- 15:15Speaker 4: we all got our pizza, sat down in the booth.
- 15:17Speaker 4: And while they were just, let's thank the Lord for
- 15:20Speaker 4: the food.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Thank you, Lord. You're such an amazing God. Thank you.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Thank you, Lord. Oh, I asked for an apple. And
- 15:26Speaker 3: there was one in the middle of the street. It
- 15:27Speaker 3: was shiny and clean. And there was just an apple.
- 15:29Speaker 3: And you gave it to me. And I'm like, who
- 15:31Speaker 3: are they talking to? I never had seen anybody pray
- 15:35Speaker 3: like that.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Like they really had somebody there talking to him.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Yeah. In the midst of their praise, it says God
- 15:41Speaker 3: inhabits the praises of his people. Jesus appeared to.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Me in that pizzeria in that moment. And he said, Melody,
- 15:49Speaker 4: I'm what you're looking for. You don't have to look
- 15:51Speaker 4: any further. He said, did you guys know Jesus is real?
- 15:56Speaker 4: And they said, yeah, no, no.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I mean, he's real, real. I just saw him. He
- 16:00Speaker 3: talked to me.
- 16:02Speaker 4: And he called me Melody. Nobody ever called me Melody.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I was Dee Dee from the time I was born.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Of course, my parents, when they were mad, I was
- 16:08Speaker 4: always Melody Ann. And whenever the teacher had to call
- 16:11Speaker 4: roll the first day of school, I was Melody.
- 16:13Speaker 3: But that's the only time. Nobody ever called me that.
- 16:15Speaker 3: And I haven't been anything else since that moment. He
- 16:19Speaker 3: changed my name.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Of course.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Of course. Wow.
- 16:22Speaker 2: That's so beautiful to have an awakened moment. I mean,
- 16:25Speaker 2: I think some of Some of us, the greater us,
- 16:29Speaker 2: are lucky to have those moments, and they are life-changing.
- 16:34Speaker 3: April 8th, 1974.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Yes, of course.
- 16:37Speaker 3: We had a dating time, too.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes. Wow. So your purpose in your life,
- 16:47Speaker 2: with regards to your book, has been to tell your story, yeah?
- 16:53Speaker 4: Well, he said to tell. When I would argue, you know,
- 16:56Speaker 4: it's like, God, there are enough books in the world.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Nobody needs another book.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Look at Goodwill. There's plenty of books. You want a book?
- 17:03Speaker 3: I'll get you a book. Look at the libraries.
- 17:06Speaker 4: There's plenty of libraries. There are books out there. He
- 17:09Speaker 4: would say, nobody else has your story. I gave you
- 17:13Speaker 4: your story.
- 17:14Speaker 2: That's right.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Write your story. And I'm like, yes, Lord.
- 17:20Speaker 2: So I used to say the same thing.
- 17:21Speaker 3: You're seeing the birth of a baby.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yep. Yeah, beautiful, beautiful. I used to say the same thing.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I used to say, there's already so many books. What
- 17:30Speaker 2: do I have to share that's unique? And gosh, I
- 17:34Speaker 2: don't have enough to say. That was a big hump
- 17:37Speaker 2: to get over for me. How could I possibly fill
- 17:40Speaker 2: a book? But as soon as I started talking, because
- 17:43Speaker 2: I spoke a lot of the book first into a transcriber,
- 17:48Speaker 2: I was like, oh my goodness, I have so much
- 17:51Speaker 2: to say. I didn't even realize.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Oh, thank you. Same.
- 17:57Speaker 2: I'm really blown away by your travel and the daring
- 18:03Speaker 2: and courageous energy of actually, I guess, taking lemons and
- 18:11Speaker 2: making lemonade, of saying, I'm out of here. The situation
- 18:16Speaker 2: is bad. Yes, I was fired, but I feel it
- 18:18Speaker 2: as freedom. And I'm going to do something completely different
- 18:22Speaker 2: with my life. And I love what you said. I've
- 18:25Speaker 2: got $ 1, 200. I might retire in 1973. Who says that?
- 18:30Speaker 2: But you did. And then you went all over the
- 18:34Speaker 2: world for a year. And your experiences sound, the ones
- 18:38Speaker 2: that you've shared, sound many extremely dangerous. but proof over
- 18:42Speaker 2: and over again that you were being cared for, that
- 18:45Speaker 2: you were being looked out upon, that there was love
- 18:49Speaker 2: surrounding you and protecting you, which is a massive gift,
- 18:53Speaker 2: not only obviously to you, but to anybody who's listening
- 18:57Speaker 2: today and also to whoever chooses, and hopefully many, to
- 19:02Speaker 2: purchase your book because that is such a teaching to
- 19:07Speaker 2: share a memoir with. And to allow people into your
- 19:11Speaker 2: own experience quite different than theirs, I'm sure. So there's
- 19:16Speaker 2: a few pieces in there. I just want to say
- 19:18Speaker 2: one more time, like I highlight the, the choice to
- 19:22Speaker 2: do something outrageous. You know, that's big because a lot
- 19:27Speaker 2: of people will just keep doing the same old, same old,
- 19:30Speaker 2: the choice to do something outrageous and just say, I'm
- 19:33Speaker 2: doing this. I've got $ 1, 200 and I'm going like, that's
- 19:36Speaker 2: amazing to me. That's so beautiful.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Well, you know what the experience in Dublin, Ireland was
- 19:42Speaker 4: just the hump of the book. The rest of the book,
- 19:47Speaker 4: which is the other half, is all miracles. Because I
- 19:50Speaker 4: just followed him, listened to him, did the next thing
- 19:52Speaker 4: he said to do. And that was, see over here, oh,
- 19:56Speaker 4: you can see it, but your listeners can't.
- 19:58Speaker 3: It was a wagon train.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Yeah, he had me on a wagon train from San
- 20:03Speaker 4: Diego to Philadelphia in 1976. We're now at 2026, 50 years.
- 20:09Speaker 4: We're having a reunion in two weeks.
- 20:11Speaker 3: All of us.
- 20:12Speaker 4: And we're probably all now in our seventies and eighties.
- 20:15Speaker 4: We won't recognize each other.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Wow.
- 20:17Speaker 2: That's amazing. That is amazing.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Melody.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Oh my God.
- 20:21Speaker 3: That was one of those things. Okay. That was 1976
- 20:24Speaker 3: and 1980. He called me to.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Well in 76, he actually called me to go to
- 20:29Speaker 4: Russia and to take scripture into Russia. And, uh, Because
- 20:35Speaker 4: the Olympics didn't happen in 1980 because Russia was attacking Afghanistan.
- 20:41Speaker 3: You're too young to remember that.
- 20:43Speaker 2: No, I remember that.
- 20:44Speaker 3: I'm not. But go ahead. Yeah.
- 20:47Speaker 4: And so anyway, that trip kind of got canceled. But
- 20:50Speaker 4: I kept it in my back pocket. And when something
- 20:53Speaker 4: came along on my desk, I was our director for
- 20:57Speaker 4: a medical products company putting out a newsletter for ICU
- 21:00Speaker 4: nurses because I was now a nurse and a journalist.
- 21:03Speaker 3: So I just combined the two of them.
- 21:05Speaker 4: And and I had told my boss, I said, I
- 21:08Speaker 4: have a calling to go to Russia before you hire me.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Is that OK? And he said, well, if the Lord
- 21:15Speaker 3: opens the doors for you to go to Russia, you
- 21:16Speaker 3: can go. You'll come back. You'll still have a job. So, OK,
- 21:19Speaker 3: I'll I'll do that.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Well, anyway, this thing, it was a nursing study tour
- 21:24Speaker 4: of the USSR, five provinces.
- 21:27Speaker 3: And he went over there.
- 21:30Speaker 4: And on the very first night, he hadn't told me
- 21:32Speaker 4: this before, on the very first night, I got a scripture.
- 21:35Speaker 3: That told me you're going to get caught, but don't
- 21:37Speaker 3: worry about, I'll, you know, I have your back. I'll
- 21:40Speaker 3: tell you what to say. Oh, I'm going to get caught.
- 21:44Speaker 4: That means I don't have to hide anything. I'm going
- 21:46Speaker 4: to get caught sometime anyway. So I'll just let him
- 21:49Speaker 4: determine when I'm going to get caught. So it was
- 21:51Speaker 4: the very last place, the last day. And I got
- 21:55Speaker 4: caught and the KGB arrested me.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Melody. At least you.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Remember what's KGB is most people don't even, what's the KGB?
- 22:07Speaker 3: It's like, oh my gosh, you are.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Believe me, you don't want to be caught by the KGB.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Wow.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Well, thank you so much for sharing on the show today.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I feel like you gave the readers, like many, I mean,
- 22:24Speaker 2: the listeners, many opportunities to be on the edge of
- 22:27Speaker 2: their seats, to hear some of the miracles. And that
- 22:31Speaker 2: sounds like there's a whole lot more. It just gives
- 22:35Speaker 2: everybody inspiration and really a window into what's true in
- 22:42Speaker 2: our world that isn't necessarily seen. Sometimes it is, but
- 22:47Speaker 2: absolutely felt and experienced and so beautiful.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Wow.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I really didn't know what to expect when we sat
- 22:54Speaker 2: down for this conversation and I'm totally delighted.
- 22:57Speaker 3: I am thrilled. I am thrilled. And you're my last
- 23:01Speaker 3: one and I'm sad. I could do 10 more. I'm just... So,
- 23:04Speaker 3: I don't.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Know, energized by the people I'm talking to, their stories,
- 23:09Speaker 4: your story. I can't wait to pick your book up
- 23:12Speaker 4: and see what kind of love stuff you're talking about.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Because I have married the last two years, been married

- 23:26Speaker 4: hope for in my life. Wow.
