- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another tiny lesson? Lucas: Absolutely. Last time we covered animals. Today, let's learn something you'd use if you're out and about — directions. Luna: Oh, good. I get lost all the time. Lucas: Then this is perfect. We'll start with three simple words: venstre, høyre, and rett frem. That's left, right, and straight ahead. Luna: Venstre... høyre... rett frem. Lucas: Nice start. Let's take them one at a time. Venstre. Say it with me: venstre. Luna: Venstre. Lucas: Good. That means left. Now, if you want to say 'to the left', you say 'til venstre'. Luna: Til venstre. Lucas: Exactly. Til venstre. Let's practice. Imagine you're at a crosswalk. Someone asks you where the bakery is. You could say, 'Til venstre'. Luna: Til venstre. Lucas: Perfect. Now for right: høyre. Say it. Luna: Høyre. Lucas: And 'to the right' is 'til høyre'. Luna: Til høyre. Lucas: Yeah. So if the train station is to the right, you'd say 'Til høyre'. Luna: Til høyre. I love that. So clear. Lucas: Now the last one: straight ahead. In Norwegian, that's 'rett frem'. Luna: Rett frem. Lucas: Yes. And if you want to say 'go straight', you can say 'Gå rett frem'. Luna: Gå rett frem. Lucas: Perfect. So we have three phrases: til venstre, til høyre, gå rett frem. Luna: Til venstre, til høyre, gå rett frem. I can do this! Lucas: You absolutely can. Let's put them in a quick scene. Imagine you're at the Oslo train station. You need to find the exit. I'll be the helpful local. Luna: Okay, I'll ask: Unnskyld, hvor er utgangen? Lucas: Good use of 'excuse me' from earlier episodes! I'll say: Gå rett frem, så til venstre. Luna: So first straight, then left. Gå rett frem, så til venstre. Lucas: Exactly! What if you need the ticket office? Luna: Then I'd say: Unnskyld, hvor er billettkontoret? Lucas: Great. And I'd answer: Til høyre. Luna: Just 'til høyre'. Simple. Lucas: Simple and effective. Now, let's practice saying all three again. Repeat after me: til venstre. Luna: Til venstre. Lucas: Til høyre. Luna: Til høyre. Lucas: Gå rett frem. Luna: Gå rett frem. Lucas: You're nailing the pronunciation. Let's try a longer direction. I'll give you a route: Gå rett frem, ta til høyre, så til venstre. Luna: Okay... gå rett frem, ta til høyre, så til venstre. That's quite a mouthful! Lucas: You said it perfectly though. 'Ta til høyre' means 'take a right' – that's another common way to say it. Luna: Ta til høyre. Got it. Lucas: Now, what if someone stops you and asks for directions in Norwegian? Let's practice both sides. Luna: Okay, you be the lost tourist. I'll be the local. Lucas: Unnskyld, hvor er biblioteket? Luna: Biblioteket... library. Hmm. I'd say: Gå rett frem, så til venstre. Lucas: Tusen takk! That was great. You just gave me directions. Luna: Oh, I did! And you understood. This is so useful. Lucas: Absolutely. Let's do one more round of repetition. Repeat after me: venstre. Luna: Venstre. Lucas: Høyre. Luna: Høyre. Lucas: Rett frem. Luna: Rett frem. Lucas: Now with 'til': til venstre. Luna: Til venstre. Lucas: Til høyre. Luna: Til høyre. Lucas: Gå rett frem. Luna: Gå rett frem. Lucas: Perfect. So when you're lost, just remember those three. They'll get you far. Luna: And if I forget, I can always come back to this episode. Lucas: Exactly. Practice makes progress. Keep saying them out loud. Til venstre, til høyre, gå rett frem. Luna: Til venstre, til høyre, gå rett frem. Lucas: That's it. Thanks for joining us on Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. Luna: Takk for i dag! We'll see you next time for another tiny lesson. Lucas: Ha det bra, alle sammen!
