- Lucas: Luna, ready for a new episode? Today we're going to the doctor in Danish. Luna: Oh, I hope it's nothing serious! But okay, let's learn. Lucas: So, if you're not feeling well, you can say: Jeg har ondt i halsen. That means 'I have a sore throat.' Luna: Jeg har ondt i halsen. That's a bit of a mouthful. Jeg har ondt i halsen. Lucas: Exactly. Jeg har ondt i halsen. Try again. Luna: Jeg har ondt i halsen. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you have a fever, you say: Jeg har feber. Luna: Jeg har feber. That sounds a lot like English 'fever.' Easy. Lucas: Yep. And if you're coughing: Jeg hoster. Luna: Jeg hoster. Hmm, hoster. Like 'cough' but with an -er. Lucas: Right. Jeg hoster. And another common one: Jeg har ondt i hovedet — I have a headache. Luna: Oh, I know that one! Jeg har ondt i hovedet. From episode 86. Lucas: Nice callback. So the doctor might ask: Hvad er der galt? — What's wrong? Luna: Hvad er der galt? That sounds like 'what is there wrong?' Literally. Lucas: Exactly. So you can answer with any of those. Let's practice a mini conversation. I'll be the doctor. Luna: Okay. Lucas: Hvad er der galt? Luna: Jeg har ondt i halsen og jeg hoster. Lucas: Aww, that's good. You have a sore throat and you cough. Jeg har ondt i halsen og jeg hoster. Perfect. Luna: Tak! So if I also have a fever, I'd say: Jeg har feber. Lucas: Yes. So you could say: Jeg har ondt i halsen, jeg hoster, og jeg har feber. Luna: That's a lot of symptoms. Jeg har ondt i halsen, jeg hoster, og jeg har feber. Lucas: You got it. Lucas: Jeg har ondt i hovedet. Luna: Jeg har ondt i hovedet. Lucas: And the question: Hvad er der galt? Luna: Hvad er der galt? Lucas: Great. Now, imagine you're at the doctor and you say: Jeg har ondt i halsen og jeg hoster. The doctor might say: 'Du har en forkølelse' — you have a cold. Luna: Du har en forkølelse. That's useful. But we're not learning that today, right? Lucas: Right. We'll stick with our five phrases. Practice them until next time. Vi ses! Luna: Vi ses! And stay healthy!
