- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hello.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Good evening.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Hi. It worked.
- 0:07Speaker 3: How about you? Welcome to Happy Mag.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Thank you so much. How are you?
- 0:14Speaker 3: I'm good. I'm good. You've been having a lot of
- 0:17Speaker 3: happen for yourself lately, which is pretty exciting.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Yeah. There's stuff going on.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Yeah. You want to tell the good people here at
- 0:27Speaker 3: Happy Mag all about it and what you've done and
- 0:31Speaker 3: Give us the dates, as they say.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Well, right now I'm on tour in Europe on a summer,
- 0:40Speaker 2: like a festival tour.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Excellent.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And we were having a day off today.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And I'm just enjoying the, you know, peace and quiet
- 0:53Speaker 2: in my hotel room.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Nice. All places.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And chatting to you.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Oh, that was wonderful.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yeah, we played a festival called Brutal Assault.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:08Speaker 1: In Czech Republic a few days ago.
- 1:11Speaker 3: And was that good?
- 1:11Speaker 1: One of the coolest festivals I've played for a long time.
- 1:15Speaker 3: That's awesome. So cool. Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 3: The festivals get over there, get pretty big, don't they?
- 1:20Speaker 3: They're pretty wild numbers.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23Speaker 3: It's intense.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Yeah, they do.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Lots of, lots of fun. Very enjoyable. So I hear.
- 1:27Speaker 3: So yeah, it's great. Yeah. It's a hard day off
- 1:31Speaker 3: in the hotel room. It's always good. Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Today's the day off. Otherwise we're traveling in a bus
- 1:37Speaker 1: and it will take us to Holland.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:40Speaker 1: After this tomorrow, actually. So yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Oh, that's good.
- 1:45Speaker 1: And then there's plenty of other stuff going on, of course.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:49Speaker 3: You've had a new release. So tell us all about that.
- 1:52Speaker 3: That's exciting.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yes, I finished an album a few months ago and
- 1:59Speaker 2: I've released two.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Songs so far. Yeah. And it's exciting.
- 2:06Speaker 2: It's always exciting to release new material. Horrifying and exciting at.
- 2:12Speaker 3: The same time. Yeah, because it's like releasing your works
- 2:15Speaker 3: into the public to be absorbed. You never know how
- 2:19Speaker 3: it's going to go, but. I imagine it's been well
- 2:22Speaker 3: received so far. You've got a bit of a legend
- 2:25Speaker 3: status by all what I understand with yourself and the
- 2:30Speaker 3: pagan Nordic scene. Tell us a little bit about that
- 2:34Speaker 3: so some of our listeners might not be too familiar
- 2:37Speaker 3: with that side of heavy metal, which is its own
- 2:40Speaker 3: genre and cult status.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It's funny because I've never seen myself as a, like
- 2:49Speaker 2: a metal artist or like.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Any specific genre, really.
- 2:53Speaker 2: But the music I create kind of connects with that
- 2:58Speaker 2: world somehow a lot.
- 3:00Speaker 1: And I think it's maybe also through, like you mentioned,
- 3:03Speaker 1: the Nordic.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Aspect of it, like the dark, there's a darkness in
- 3:10Speaker 2: the Nordic sound.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. And just even pagan themes as well. I
- 3:15Speaker 3: think there's a lot of.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 3:18Speaker 2: And the Nordic mythology, which is like a big part
- 3:23Speaker 2: of my Faroese folk.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Music, where I come from.
- 3:28Speaker 2: So it's always been something that inspired me and kind
- 3:31Speaker 2: of found its way into my music somehow.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Because it's quite unique in itself.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And then there's also the cinematic aspect of it, which
- 3:40Speaker 2: is kind of a.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 1: It's also like a quite metal-y thing. In my head,
- 3:45Speaker 1: it is.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I don't know if it is. Yeah, yeah. There's a
- 3:48Speaker 3: lot to, you know, work with the themes, which, you know,
- 3:50Speaker 3: like you say, they are, you know, that metal scene
- 3:53Speaker 3: sort of, they'd like to draw from that. And, you know,
- 3:57Speaker 3: there's mystic influences and, you know, messages that they put
- 4:04Speaker 3: out and, you know, they imply a lot.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 3: You know, being too direct, I guess, is the way
- 4:10Speaker 3: they get room to play. with that kind of thing,
- 4:13Speaker 3: which is cool. And being a female, female fronting metal band,
- 4:16Speaker 3: we love that. That's awesome. And so, so you've released two,
- 4:24Speaker 3: two new songs. Is that right?
- 4:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I have released two.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah. And what's the reception been like so far? Has
- 4:31Speaker 3: it been, were received by fans?
- 4:34Speaker 1: I think so.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It's felt really good to, to share these songs with
- 4:39Speaker 2: the fans and, And now, you know, you don't really
- 4:43Speaker 2: get to kind of really test it or feel it
- 4:47Speaker 2: until you play it live, which I'm doing now. We've
- 4:50Speaker 2: been touring for a week now and played like almost
- 4:53Speaker 2: every day.
- 4:53Speaker 1: This is our first day off, I think.
- 4:56Speaker 2: And it's just wonderful to like share this live.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Moment with the audience and to play the new songs
- 5:04Speaker 1: and kind of.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And see that they are, like, receiving it well. That's nice.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that is. That's good. And, you know, I
- 5:14Speaker 3: admire anyone who can do a tour on a bus
- 5:16Speaker 3: with their crew. You guys have got to have a
- 5:18Speaker 3: good relationship. I imagine it gets pretty bad sometimes. Close combined.
- 5:24Speaker 1: You have to see each other every morning, every day,
- 5:27Speaker 1: every night.
- 5:28Speaker 3: And it sounds like you've got a big tour on
- 5:30Speaker 3: at the moment, which is, you know, good, but, yeah,
- 5:33Speaker 3: it's also taxing as well after a while, so... How
- 5:36Speaker 3: long is it going for that you are.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I really enjoy it.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I kind of switch, you know, when I go on tour,
- 5:41Speaker 2: I go into this totally different bubble where I'm like.
- 5:47Speaker 3: You just.
- 5:48Speaker 1: That's what you.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Do and you do it every day and it's... I
- 5:52Speaker 2: don't worry about... I'm often less stressed when I'm on tour,
- 5:56Speaker 2: I think.
- 5:58Speaker 1: For some reason.
- 5:59Speaker 3: You just realize you can't control, you know, anything else
- 6:01Speaker 3: outside of what this bus, you know, what's happening right now. Yeah. Exactly.
- 6:06Speaker 1: You just go with it. And all that matters is
- 6:09Speaker 1: that you play a great show every night.
- 6:11Speaker 3: For sure.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Yeah. So I don't know.
- 6:16Speaker 3: So this tweet that you're currently on at the moment,
- 6:19Speaker 3: how long have you got left with that? Whereabouts else
- 6:21Speaker 3: will it take? You said Holland tomorrow? you're off to.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Holland and then i uh we're going back to germany
- 6:28Speaker 2: i think after that nice uh.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And then i have a you know the bigger tour
- 6:34Speaker 1: later this year yeah yeah in october i'm going to
- 6:38Speaker 1: the u.s and oh that's.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Exciting then around europe next year and hopefully i'll be
- 6:43Speaker 2: back in australia.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Soon yes yes i've heard some gossip about it Oh, well,
- 6:49Speaker 3: gossip was always good. You heard it first here at
- 6:52Speaker 3: Heavy Man, guys. We like that. An exclusive. So you've
- 6:58Speaker 3: been out on the here before. How many times have
- 7:00Speaker 3: you guys been out here?
- 7:02Speaker 1: We've been twice.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Yeah, nice.
- 7:05Speaker 1: And we absolutely adore it.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that's so nice.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Just can't wait to come back.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 1: You know, it's... Such an amazing audience there.
- 7:16Speaker 2: It's so cool to play in Australia.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 2: It's just fun and the people.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Oh, that's nice to hear. Magical.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 3: No, we've got a pretty good medical scene down here
- 7:30Speaker 3: and the fans, they love it. And, you know, the
- 7:33Speaker 3: bands that do come out, they find this. And often
- 7:35Speaker 3: they're quite surprised at just, you know, how many fans
- 7:38Speaker 3: that they have down here, which is always nice. And
- 7:41Speaker 3: we embrace it all.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 3: It's good.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Yeah. so that's exciting yeah so you're going to be
- 7:47Speaker 3: a busy girl you're not going to have time to
- 7:49Speaker 3: do much so hopefully writing some music in between there
- 7:52Speaker 3: some more new stuff or just going to focus on
- 7:54Speaker 3: what you've got at the moment and belt out the hits.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I think probably now I'm going to just focus on
- 8:05Speaker 2: the live aspect of it because it's been a lot
- 8:08Speaker 2: of studio work the past you know the past year
- 8:11Speaker 2: and also touring in between so it's been So now
- 8:14Speaker 2: I think I'm, for a while, just going to enjoy
- 8:19Speaker 2: playing new material and doing.
- 8:23Speaker 1: The live side of it, which is a very different
- 8:30Speaker 1: setting in the brain.
- 8:31Speaker 2: It's much more outrovert, you know, you're like connecting with people.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And when you're in the studio you're like in your
- 8:38Speaker 1: own little.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Space yeah yeah um like you said they're two completely
- 8:43Speaker 3: different things they're both you know just as amazing but
- 8:46Speaker 3: and it's just you know being performing live imagine it
- 8:48Speaker 3: would be at the level that you're doing it and
- 8:51Speaker 3: the amount that you're doing it you'd have to be
- 8:52Speaker 3: almost match fit for the time you're doing it so
- 8:55Speaker 3: I'd be like all right I've got it now and
- 8:58Speaker 3: it's time to have a break but yeah it's it's
- 9:00Speaker 3: a lot I don't know.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I think There's always stuff to learn, but it's really
- 9:05Speaker 2: one of my favorite things to do, to play live.
- 9:09Speaker 2: It's where the music really makes sense, when you kind
- 9:13Speaker 2: of have the audience with you, because it gets this
- 9:17Speaker 2: extra dimension.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that connection, and for yourself, the stage presence. So
- 9:23Speaker 3: with your production, is it quite theatrical, your live stuff
- 9:27Speaker 3: as well, that you do? It is quite... Why?
- 9:33Speaker 1: I think maybe some people would say that, yes.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I don't think it's so much a plan that it's
- 9:39Speaker 2: supposed to be theatrical, but.
- 9:44Speaker 1: It's quite dreamy, I would say.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I like to take people or invite them into some
- 9:51Speaker 2: kind of dream state where they can dream, like their
- 9:55Speaker 2: own dreams, like where there's space to kind of interpret
- 9:59Speaker 2: things yeah and feelings and situations and.
- 10:04Speaker 1: It's um um yeah it's quite basic also my setup my.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Production is yeah you know we have a great band
- 10:15Speaker 4: and we have Good lights and good sound and that's like.
- 10:22Speaker 1: The main thing.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:23Speaker 2: And then what else do you need?
- 10:27Speaker 3: That's it. No, it would be good to see. So
- 10:32Speaker 3: no pyrotechnics, you know, or anything extra in the background.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I would love, I would love that. I would love
- 10:38Speaker 1: to have fire and all those things on stage.
- 10:40Speaker 2: But we've had it a few times for like special occasions,
- 10:45Speaker 2: for special shows. So I guess it depends what kind
- 10:50Speaker 2: of stage you play.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Yeah, the venue would depend on a lot, I would imagine,
- 10:54Speaker 3: because those things are dangerous. I've seen some accidents. Exactly.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I don't want to set the house on fire.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Yeah. No, you have to do that. My great photography
- 11:04Speaker 3: as a concert photographer, I'm like, oh, that might be
- 11:06Speaker 3: all right. Not when it goes too fast, seriously. Oh,
- 11:10Speaker 3: that's amazing. So you're more touring for next year, which
- 11:14Speaker 3: is the U.S. So you guys have been to the U.S. before,
- 11:17Speaker 3: or is it going to be a first for yourselves?
- 11:19Speaker 1: No, I've been there a few times.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah, nice.
- 11:21Speaker 1: A few times on tours.
- 11:24Speaker 2: And I've done, like, I've toured for such a long time.
- 11:29Speaker 2: And I've done so many different types of tours. I've
- 11:33Speaker 2: done van tours in the US where we're driving for
- 11:38Speaker 2: 14 hours straight to the next show. I've tried quite
- 11:44Speaker 2: a few different types of touring during the years.
- 11:48Speaker 1: And I'm just excited now to go there and get
- 11:51Speaker 1: to travel in a nightliner because it's just easier.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:58Speaker 1: And you get to sleep.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Yes yes because it's again it's a fairly big country
- 12:03Speaker 3: as well when you're going in advance.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Long distances yes.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Wild it's like australia like you want to try it
- 12:10Speaker 3: by van you want to do that by no exactly
- 12:13Speaker 3: it's crazy like from syria a long way i was
- 12:18Speaker 3: blown away by the system though in australia you know
- 12:21Speaker 3: you can just fly you fly.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Between yeah the cities and um And we were just
- 12:28Speaker 2: all like, oh, they're so nice to us at the airport.
- 12:31Speaker 2: We're used to, like, there always being such cons at
- 12:35Speaker 2: airports everywhere, like, in the world.
- 12:37Speaker 1: But in Australia, they're very good to musicians. Yeah.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Yeah, they are, actually. And even in domestic airlines, it's
- 12:44Speaker 3: like we get free baggage and, like, it was music related. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 1: They're like, oh, yes, it's fine. Just put all your
- 12:50Speaker 1: baggage there.
- 12:51Speaker 3: It is. It's actually one of those odd things that, yeah,
- 12:54Speaker 3: airlines and musicians, they kind of, you know. Notoriously, it
- 12:57Speaker 3: can be bad, but for some reason here.
- 12:59Speaker 1: They usually hate us.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Because we have so much luggage.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Australia's taken the right approach for one thing we got right. Yeah.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Out of many that I'm sure we definitely haven't.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Well, that you definitely do have.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. Well, no, that's exciting. So more tours, new music,
- 13:21Speaker 3: which is out, which congratulations. We all love to hear that.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I gave it a bit of a listen before in itself.
- 13:25Speaker 3: It's definitely got that intense mystique sound about it. Would
- 13:30Speaker 3: you describe it very different from the other stuff that
- 13:32Speaker 3: you've done before? Or is it just similar, just new inspired?
- 13:37Speaker 1: I think it's different.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Every time I make a new album, it has to
- 13:42Speaker 2: be different because otherwise I wouldn't be bothered.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You don't want to make the same album again. So
- 13:49Speaker 1: there's always some kind of curiosity.
- 13:56Speaker 2: That drives me and on this particular album I think
- 13:59Speaker 2: it's a curiosity that caught me when I did my
- 14:04Speaker 2: last album which was out like almost three years ago.
- 14:09Speaker 1: It kind of opened up a new creative era for
- 14:13Speaker 1: me I think.
- 14:14Speaker 2: A few just new elements that I was excited to
- 14:17Speaker 2: work with.
- 14:18Speaker 1: A bit more cinematic.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Atmospheric combined with the like very drum heavy and dark atmospheres,
- 14:29Speaker 2: which I've also explored a lot on this new album,
- 14:32Speaker 2: but maybe in a slightly different, with a slightly different approach.
- 14:37Speaker 1: It's a bit more up-tempo maybe. Like more, there are
- 14:42Speaker 1: more drums on this album.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I like drums.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I know. They sound good. Drums and bass. It
- 14:49Speaker 3: just gives it that core, like that, that body.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Yeah, drums and bass.
- 14:52Speaker 3: It's just, yeah. And when it's live too, it's just like, oh,
- 14:56Speaker 3: it just goes through your system. It's definitely to be experienced.
- 15:00Speaker 3: And I'm a fan of that myself. So well done.
- 15:04Speaker 3: It was a good one. Yeah. So that's exciting. So
- 15:08Speaker 3: thank you for having a chat with us today, Heavy.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Thank you for having me. And we look forward to
- 15:13Speaker 3: hopefully in the pipeline seeing you back down under very soon.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Oh, my goodness.
- 15:18Speaker 3: We will receive. Yes. And no doubt we will chat
- 15:21Speaker 3: again in the near future.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yes, hopefully.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:25Speaker 1: It was a pleasure chatting with you.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Yeah, likewise, likewise. Well, thank you so much and congratulations
- 15:30Speaker 3: and enjoy the rest of your day time over there,
- 15:33Speaker 3: is it, at the moment? Yeah. Oh, yes. It's almost
- 15:36Speaker 3: 3 o'clock. Oh, yes. I forgot. That's a huge time difference.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I mean, I literally just woke up.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I hate this. That can be me on most
- 15:47Speaker 3: days after a big weekend. It's okay. Zero judgment here.
- 15:53Speaker 3: We call them rock star hours, and sometimes they're nice.
- 15:57Speaker 3: It's less people in the world when we're awake when
- 15:59Speaker 3: everyone else is asleep. On tour, I....
- 16:03Speaker 1: My day is turned upside down.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I would imagine, indeed.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Well, you enjoy the rest of the tour and all
- 16:10Speaker 3: the best for that and with next year as well
- 16:13Speaker 3: and with the U.S. And, yeah, congratulations on the new album.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Go and give it a listen.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Now it's out and, yeah, you'll no doubt will enjoy it.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Thank you so much. No worries. You take care. Thank you.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Thank you. Bye. Bye-bye.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Bye.
