- 0:00Speaker 1: Here we are, guys, our last break of the day.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Thank you so much for joining us. We appreciate you,
- 0:05Speaker 1: we love you, we care about you. Junior, you have
- 0:09Speaker 1: a question for Stave before we get out of here.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I sure, donc I'm curious to know, Uh, how do
- 0:14Speaker 2: you handle the respect? How many people do you take
- 0:16Speaker 2: care of and the responsibility that you take care How
- 0:19Speaker 2: many people do you really take care of? You know something, man,
- 0:24Speaker 2: that's interesting because I've been having just and it's a
- 0:28Speaker 2: serious business too. The past few weeks. I've been grappling
- 0:31Speaker 2: with that and for a lot of people out there
- 0:36Speaker 2: who have been chosen by God to play the role
- 0:43Speaker 2: that you have in the lives of so many people.
- 0:49Speaker 2: There are a lot of chosen people out there. That
- 0:51Speaker 2: a lot of people out there that the first one
- 0:53Speaker 2: to go to college and their family, first one to
- 0:55Speaker 2: climb the corporate ladder, first one to open up a business,
- 1:00Speaker 2: first one to have a savings, first one to consider retirement,
- 1:05Speaker 2: first one in your family to know anything about investments.
- 1:09Speaker 2: It's just a lot of people out there who have
- 1:12Speaker 2: been the chosen one. Everybody on this show is a
- 1:17Speaker 2: chosen one. I happen to be a chosen one. Now
- 1:24Speaker 2: with that comes an immense amount of responsibility. And in
- 1:31Speaker 2: this responsibility there comes a lot of burden, now, a
- 1:36Speaker 2: burden we're not meant to carry. We're supposed to turn
- 1:38Speaker 2: it over to God. But that's a hard lesson to learn,
- 1:41Speaker 2: and you don't know that in the beginning. And we
- 1:44Speaker 2: carry a lot of stuff because of the number of
- 1:48Speaker 2: people will we're responsible for. And what I want you
- 1:53Speaker 2: to be careful of is something that I was not
- 1:55Speaker 2: conscious and careful of in being responsible for people and
- 2:01Speaker 2: being the one to go to person in your family,
- 2:05Speaker 2: in your circle of friends when they need money. Here
- 2:08Speaker 2: they come, they want to borrow, they need this, and
- 2:10Speaker 2: it could be small amounts, it could be big amounts.
- 2:13Speaker 2: The amount is relative to wherever you are financially. But
- 2:16Speaker 2: they just keep coming and you want to help them
- 2:20Speaker 2: because you're a good person, you know. And then you
- 2:23Speaker 2: know if you don't help them, you know they gonna
- 2:26Speaker 2: sink and blah blah blah. So you get manipulated a lot,
- 2:31Speaker 2: You made to feel guilty a lot, and then you know,
- 2:36Speaker 2: people are just they are just people, man. And what
- 2:41Speaker 2: I did over the years was I took account of
- 2:45Speaker 2: all the people I was taking care of and I
- 2:49Speaker 2: started building up a resentment towards some of them, And
- 2:55Speaker 2: you gotta be careful of this, folks. I built up
- 2:58Speaker 2: a resentment times, and it started affecting me, and it
- 3:05Speaker 2: made me feel resentful a lot of times because I
- 3:11Speaker 2: give what I think I give so freely and yet
- 3:15Speaker 2: get nothing in return. Have you ever felt that way,
- 3:19Speaker 2: that you just give and give and give, and you
- 3:22Speaker 2: don't seem like nobody ever gives to you, there's no
- 3:25Speaker 2: return factor. Well, I was feeling that, and it was
- 3:29Speaker 2: making me feel some kind of way. And for years
- 3:31Speaker 2: I carried that until recently I figured it out because
- 3:38Speaker 2: you know, there's a scripture in the Bible. I have
- 3:41Speaker 2: no idea where it is. It says something to the
- 3:43Speaker 2: fact about being it is better to be the lender
- 3:48Speaker 2: than the borrower. There's something in there about that. And
- 3:54Speaker 2: I found myself to be the lender and not the borrower.
- 4:00Speaker 2: But I began to be resentful about being the lender. Well,
- 4:04Speaker 2: Steve Harvey, would you rather be the borrower the person
- 4:09Speaker 2: that needs all the time, or would you rather be
- 4:12Speaker 2: the person that has it to give all the time. See,
- 4:17Speaker 2: it's a weird little line that you got to play
- 4:20Speaker 2: in that and a lot of times I was just
- 4:22Speaker 2: being resentful. So recently, Man, I released a whole weight
- 4:27Speaker 2: off of my shoulder I'm talking about, Man, I feel
- 4:30Speaker 2: like a new person almost when I started realizing that
- 4:34Speaker 2: I fulfilled the promise and the duty and the obligation
- 4:39Speaker 2: that I have as a man. And you don't have
- 4:41Speaker 2: to be a man to feel this way. I'm just
- 4:43Speaker 2: saying for me, just what I felt as a man
- 4:46Speaker 2: because I did what I set out to do. When
- 4:50Speaker 2: it comes to my children, I gave my children a
- 4:53Speaker 2: better life than the one I had, But you can't
- 4:56Speaker 2: be resentful of it because I didn't. I want them
- 5:00Speaker 2: to have to go through what I went through because
- 5:03Speaker 2: I had no cushion, I had no safety net. I
- 5:08Speaker 2: couldn't go to my parents when I got in trouble
- 5:11Speaker 2: because they was poor. But I changed that and I
- 5:16Speaker 2: became the person. I gave my children a life that
- 5:19Speaker 2: I didn't have. But I can't be mad because they
- 5:21Speaker 2: got that life now because I gave that life to them.
- 5:25Speaker 2: You do for people because you wish somebody had done
- 5:28Speaker 2: it for you, but now you have the ability to
- 5:30Speaker 2: do it for somebody else. Y'all, you just feel in
- 5:33Speaker 2: your mission. And so what I started doing was I
- 5:36Speaker 2: became instead of resentful, I became proud of myself. Come on, dog,
- 5:41Speaker 2: you did it. Somebody told me and said, man, if
- 5:44Speaker 2: you could do anything you wanted to do, what would
- 5:47Speaker 2: you do. I said, I'd golf and fish. He said,
- 5:49Speaker 2: why don't you just go do that? Man? You don't
- 5:51Speaker 2: put your time. Man, I can't just go do what
- 5:55Speaker 2: I want to do. I have a responsibility. I have
- 5:59Speaker 2: responsibility to this radio show. I got responsibility to that
- 6:02Speaker 2: game show. I got responsibilities man. That and a lot
- 6:07Speaker 2: of people count on me to do those two things
- 6:09Speaker 2: because the livelihood is tied to that. But instead of
- 6:13Speaker 2: being resentful for that, I became proud of it. Man,
- 6:17Speaker 2: take pride in the things that you're able to do
- 6:21Speaker 2: instead of being resentful for all the stuff you have
- 6:24Speaker 2: to do. Does that make sense? That show helped me out, man,
- 6:28Speaker 2: I show hope that'll help you. Man. I'm proud that
- 6:30Speaker 2: my kids ain't had the same life I got. I
- 6:32Speaker 2: can't get mad at them because they ain't have to
- 6:34Speaker 2: struggle like me. Hey man, that's what you set out
- 6:36Speaker 2: to do. You did it, tyde I congratulation, mission accomplished.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Have a great day today, y'all.
