- 0:20the world. Let's jump right into it.
- 0:38This is a story about never giving up a story of giants.
- 0:49There's A long ridge in central trip, County South Dakota, it
- 0:52looks out of place. It was a time when it wasn't
- 0:56there. They say it was a summer of
- 1:00storms, when red caps people were camped, south of the great
- 1:03muddy, now known as the Missouri River.
- 1:07Cloud and Plum were married in the moon of ripening berries,
- 1:12two evenings later, A storm blew in big black clouds rolled
- 1:16across the sky and the Thunder shouted.
- 1:19Angry Eyes flashing with the light of 100 Suns, but the storm
- 1:24was not the worst thing that happened.
- 1:26Something dark and ugly came out of the night, ripping into the
- 1:29village. Cloud and Plum huddled in their
- 1:34Lodge from the darkness to her cries of Terror, women and
- 1:38children screamed something ripped into the lodge.
- 1:42A mountainous black finger. He was ER the giant with the
- 1:47strength of a thousand men, blackest of hearts and the
- 1:50bottomless hunger. A hand larger than a grown man,
- 1:57snatch Plum away from cloud and tossed her into a mouth, like a
- 2:00large hole in the ground and she was gone Viator part, The
- 2:07Village to satisfy his hunger. No one could stop him.
- 2:11He grabbed girls and young women and toss them, into his wife
- 2:14slobbering mouth, and he was gone into the Blackness of the
- 2:17stormy night. By Dawn, the storm weakened read
- 2:21calf gathered, the Council of old men to consider what to do.
- 2:27It was no use to do anything. Some said he is too big and
- 2:30powerful move the village and hope he doesn't return some
- 2:34advised. Cloud didn't intend to make the
- 2:37move. He was angry and announced.
- 2:39He would gather his weapons and strikeout after a year.
- 2:44Seven, others joined him. Eight young, men, hit at East
- 2:47armed with Lance's, knives and bows and arrows.
- 2:51He has true was easy to follow his Footprints were, so deep,
- 2:55rain water collected in him. They found him asleep on a
- 2:59hillside. He was an ugly beast, naked, and
- 3:02unwashed twigs, and branches caught in his long tangled hair.
- 3:07Cloud in the others had never seen here.
- 3:10The knew him as an imaginary creature in the stories told by
- 3:13the old ones. Now, there he was bigger than
- 3:17any living thing inside his stomach were Plum and the other
- 3:21girls. But Fox asked the question and
- 3:25all their minds. How will we defeat such a thing?
- 3:29We will think of something. Cloud said.
- 3:33He arose and walked Eastwood flattening everything in his
- 3:36path. They followed until the giant
- 3:38stopped at dusk to sleep. In a gully young men made camp
- 3:43and Cloud suddenly thought of an idea to kill him.
- 3:46We will trap him. He announced.
- 3:48He has a weakness. He is always hungry.
- 3:51We will use it to trap him. I will offer myself.
- 3:54I will get him to chase me and I would lead him into the trap, a
- 3:58hole in the ground that we will dig.
- 4:02Through the night. They talked six would dig a hole
- 4:05a cloud in one other would decoy Kia to the Trap.
- 4:10The place where the Trap was a dried Creek with a ground was
- 4:12sand and easy to dig in Maidstone axis.
- 4:17The digging started in cloud and yellow Hawk left to find the
- 4:20Giant. They would keep him decoyed.
- 4:24When the signal fire was lit. They would know.
- 4:26The Trap was ready and it would lead him to it.
- 4:31They found him easily or even never bathed and could be
- 4:33located at Great distances when the wind was, right.
- 4:38The others dug and dug dirt piled up on each side of the
- 4:41trench as they dug deeper and deeper days and nights passed.
- 4:47The diggers worked without rest out.
- 4:52On the Prairie. He has set out with long,
- 4:54strides cloud, and yellow Hawk ran to keep Pace.
- 4:58All went well until he has spotted them with a yellow
- 5:01surprise and anger. He stumbled after them the
- 5:06ground shook. His feet were like Boulders
- 5:09crashing to the Earth yet. They were able to stay away from
- 5:11him. It was a dangerous game and
- 5:15cloud in yellow huhu. Huuuu tired, because they could
- 5:17not rest. Back to the West, the trench was
- 5:21growing deeper and deeper. The others worked, their
- 5:24fingers, bloody the thought of their women inside the ugly.
- 5:27Giant stomach was enough to make them work harder.
- 5:32The trench was as deep as five men standing on top of one
- 5:35another, it was finished. It was time to Signal cloud and
- 5:39yellow Hawk. The diggers get a Driftwood and
- 5:42dried brush to cover the trench, then another pile of wood was
- 5:46set on fire. Cloud and you'll hooks out a
- 5:50fire in a distance. The others had finished the
- 5:53trap. Now, Cloud would have to leave
- 5:56the John. He prayed and made offerings and
- 6:00what? After the angry and dangerous
- 6:02area. It was easy to get him to follow
- 6:07but to stay alive, Cloud have to keep out of the Giants Long
- 6:10Reach, the chase continued through the day and Cloud was
- 6:14tiring. He Let er across the Prairie and
- 6:17toward the trench. The other saw Co approaching and
- 6:21he did, if he fell into the trench, they had to collapse the
- 6:25Mounds of Earth into the hole. Australia came looming, larger
- 6:30and larger. They saw a man running before
- 6:33him. It was Cloud.
- 6:34Stumbling badly soaked in sweat. He ran only on sheer willpower.
- 6:40He fell many times and fought mightily stand and push on.
- 6:44On a grassy slope Cloud lost his footing and slid.
- 6:47His hand came down like a falling tree Cloud rolled and
- 6:50barely avoided being flattened, but he had no more strength.
- 6:53He was too exhausted to be afraid.
- 6:55He had given everything he had. Could do no more closing his
- 6:59eyes. He waited for, ER, to crush the
- 7:00life out of him. Somewhere deep inside.
- 7:04He found a pebble of strength. One last spark of hope to say
- 7:08plum and the other women for the Bellow of Rage.
- 7:12He rolled away from EOS outstretched fingers and leaped
- 7:15to his feet. The ground shook under, he has
- 7:18clawed, ran for the trench behind him.
- 7:21He has mouth, was curled into a snarl, his yellow teeth, bared,
- 7:25and his long, black hair. Swirling, like black smoke,
- 7:29cloud, reach the trench and was halfway across when he heard a
- 7:32shout of Triumph. And yes, Cry of surprise and a

- 7:39the trench covering was far too heavy and he went down into the
- 7:43trench. Deer fell to the bottom caught

- 7:51filling the air with his deafening yells of Rage.
- 7:54The others collapse the dirt down into the trench.
- 7:57He has yells turn to whimpers, its arm reached up, one hand
- 8:01clawed at the edge of the hole, but he could not free himself.

- 8:08covered his head struggles weakened and he calls no more, a

- 8:49to the nearby stream and it's Cool Waters.
- 8:51They were gently revived and cleaned.

- 9:49But there is a long ridge covered with grass and Cactus
- 9:52running east to west along a highway.
- 9:55Many people drive by it every day.
- 9:59To most it is only a Long Hill. A few of us though, still.
- 10:03Remember the story of how he, oh, was defeated.
- 10:06We know that Ridge is his grave, but in our hearts we think of it
- 10:10more as something built by love, courage and perseverance.
- 10:14And by Giants because that was crazy.
- 10:20Every time I hear that story. It's like the first time I heard
