- 0:52I'm doing. Well, thanks.
- 0:53Hope you guys are doing good too.
- 0:55So awesome. Facial expressions.
- 0:57I want to do this video because I find it really interesting,
- 0:59the, you know, the the inside and the insight about bosses and
- 1:03facial expressions and understanding facial emotions
- 1:06because We all have facial expressions, we all have facial
- 1:09emotions, but it's super interesting when it comes down
- 1:12to autism. Now as an off, as awesome
- 1:14impact, the communication part of the brain.
- 1:17It's no surprise. That was typical of a major
- 1:19issue with trying to understand and identify facial expressions
- 1:23from a person. And this means, like, if
- 1:25somebody is sad or angry or upset, or inquisitive the facial
- 1:29expression that they pull will not be communicated in that way,
- 1:33to the person who is on the autism spectrum.
- 1:35So the autistic person won't look at pthere count of, you
- 1:38know, the person having a conversation with and look at
- 1:40their facial expressions and say, hmm.
- 1:42I know this person's inquiry what?
- 1:43Something I know they're upset or sad.
- 1:45It's very difficult to do that. Now there are a few reasons for
- 1:48why this may be an issue first off.
- 1:50It's common for autistic people to not really make eye contact,
- 1:53right? We all know and we have done a
- 1:54bunch of videos on different shades of authors and one of the
- 1:56most prominent ones is making eye.
- 1:58Contact is difficult for people on the autism spectrum.
- 2:00So the never really looking in the eyes of a person and
- 2:03maintaining eye contact is super difficult as well.
- 2:05So for a person to Have lack of eye contact, then they're not
- 2:08looking at someone's face. So how would they even know what
- 2:11these expression? You're pulling.
- 2:12It's not looking you in the face, right?
- 2:14Which is really interesting. There is another reason though
- 2:17that the communication part that impacts, that the autistic
- 2:20person can interfere with the way that you track, an
- 2:24unobserved emotions and people's faces.
- 2:26So how how you identify some of these, you know, feeling a
- 2:30certain way, right? An emotion that comes out from a
- 2:32person's physical appearance is that you track their emotions
- 2:35through there. Facial observations.
- 2:38So you look at the face and you say, well, you know, they look
- 2:40like they're crying or laughing or they're happy or they're sad
- 2:43or whatever. And that is how you can convey
- 2:45that the emotion that they have in your mind is kind of like a
- 2:50knowing how the other person is feeling and kind of like, trying
- 2:53to judge their kind of a next move because of that crying and
- 2:56I want to, you know, wipe the tears, we might want to go to
- 2:58the toilet white, wash, their face or whatever.
- 3:00So it's really difficult to judge.
- 3:02What's what now, autistic people have a huge issue with this.
- 3:05And I myself a chef Issue with this.
- 3:07And it's funny because I don't know if someone's angry sad or
- 3:11upset or whatever, unless they like crying like really, really
- 3:14upset and crying. All I said, they're really happy
- 3:16and I laughing and I know those two, because there's more than
- 3:19just looking at their faces for this.
- 3:20Now, the other ones are between is difficult.
- 3:23I feel like I heard. He's grumpy all the time and
- 3:25that's all I can see, is people being grumpy.
- 3:26You can't really take towels on happy or not, which is really
- 3:28difficult to kind of, like, figure out and, you know,
- 3:32possibly understand. But there's another part that
- 3:35comes with autism, facial expressions.
- 3:37Right that autistic people can't identify facial expressions and
- 3:40people off our emotions through facial expressions.
- 3:42But then also autistic people have it in a bad time, actually
- 3:47conveying their own emotions through, facial expressions, to
- 3:49other people. Now, my girlfriend always ask me
- 3:52like, why are you angry? What's going on?
- 3:53I'm like, I'm not angry. She's like, oh, you got such an
- 3:55angry face on. Oh my God.
- 3:56No, I'm just, you know, just hanging out.
- 3:58You know? I'm just being me and so she
- 4:01came. She can't understand why my
- 4:04facial expression doesn't match up to how I'm feeling, which is
- 4:06really interesting. She said it yesterday as well.
- 4:08She said that, like when I'm happy I don't show happiness to
- 4:10emotions my face. I probably just say that I'm
- 4:13happy you. This is really interesting and
- 4:15not but she doesn't like having you know around taught me.
- 4:17Anything like that was nothing like that.
- 4:18She's just observing and telling me.
- 4:20So I could understand and learn well make this video you know.
- 4:24And so it's really interesting. You know, when you're dealing
- 4:26with people on the autism spectrum, you have to be mindful
- 4:28of the fact that they may not understand the typical forms of
- 4:32communication that you take for granted and the other way around
- 4:35that their form of Ian will be totally different from yours and
- 4:38they may not understand what you're doing, either.
- 4:40So, you know, when you're looking at us as a person and
- 4:44try to figure out the happy or sad from a kind of facial
- 4:45expression that in ever going to happen and you're never gonna be
- 4:48able to figure that out because it's just not something that
- 4:50happens. It's you're not it's not it's
- 4:52not a formula, it's going to work.
- 4:55You have to either ask them or know them to know if they're
- 4:58happy or sad because of the situation you're in basically.
- 5:00Now if you have anything to add to this discussion, the
- 5:02conversation I'd love to have it with you, and I read every
