- 0:00Speaker 1: Want to check check we're back. We're down in the
- 0:05Speaker 1: middle of the French bonjour, Michelle, Come.
- 0:10Speaker 2: On, Elizabeth, is that friend?
- 0:17Speaker 1: Well, jem Tennie, I do love I love tennis and
- 0:24Speaker 1: I love the French Open. And it's in full swing.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We should say that round two. Half of round two
- 0:31Speaker 1: has been completed as we record, but there's a lot
- 0:36Speaker 1: to catch up on. I'm in America over zoom and
- 0:39Speaker 1: it's not ideal, but we're going to make it work.
- 0:42Speaker 2: We're gonna make it work. This is how everyone does it.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I'm in Melbourne. I'm at Melbourne Park where the AO is,
- 0:49Speaker 2: and it is miserable outside. It is the Melbourne Park.
- 0:53Speaker 2: They do not want you to see. It's actually yeah.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Well, I'm currently in thirty degree Kansas City heat beautiful,
- 1:02Speaker 1: so I'm just wearing a thong like bikini.
- 1:07Speaker 2: T shut up the top, thong down the butt. Please
- 1:10Speaker 2: do not stand up, Mike, show me.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Perfect tennis stuff. Way.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I didn't realize how much I missed a Grand Slim.
- 1:20Speaker 1: It's the best.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It's so exciting.
- 1:22Speaker 1: The French Open. Can we get some like French Open
- 1:25Speaker 1: music under that? Some I don't know what is what's
- 1:28Speaker 1: French music? Sound like.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Paris jazz. Yeah, let's get some Parish jazz underneath this.
- 1:36Speaker 1: The French Open is underway Roland Garrison. Unfortunately, the Great
- 1:40Speaker 1: French Hope Arthur fees out with an injury before the
- 1:44Speaker 1: tournament even began. There's been plenty of French players still
- 1:49Speaker 1: in the mix. A lot of them are getting knocked
- 1:51Speaker 1: out in early rounds. Arthur Gia had an incident on court. Well,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I think he successfully made it off the court.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I mean, we've all I've never related so hard to
- 2:03Speaker 2: a tennis player in my life. We've all been there.
- 2:06Speaker 2: If you haven't, you have not lived like I think.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It's not really it's yeah, it's not ideal when it's
- 2:13Speaker 2: not a change of ends to see your opponent go
- 2:15Speaker 2: off court for that length of time. But when you
- 2:17Speaker 2: gotta go, you gotta go.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I mean the ausiest Adam Alton, him.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Beating it was the weirdest game to watch. One six
- 2:24Speaker 2: six six classic.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Never of meltdown. He was up a break in with
- 2:29Speaker 1: the Spider Adam Alton. I think he's ranked in the nineties.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I could be wrong about that, but the biggest win
- 2:35Speaker 1: of his career. Yeah, amazing, that's huge. And then Kimberly
- 2:39Speaker 1: Barrell beating.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Jess Pagole your faith.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I do love pol and I thought she. I mean,
- 2:47Speaker 1: she gets into the second week of almost every Grand
- 2:49Speaker 1: Slam she plays, So this was a great solid player,
- 2:51Speaker 1: huge up set.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Massive upset, but good for her and Kochi Nakas as well.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Five setter.
- 2:57Speaker 1: But but yeah, today he retired in the third set
- 3:01Speaker 1: of his second round match against Pablo Corno Busta. It's
- 3:06Speaker 1: that peck, He's got that dead man's ligament and it's
- 3:10Speaker 1: just hold. But we already have an Aussie through to
- 3:13Speaker 1: the third round because even our second round walkover blocks. Yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 1: who rolled his ankle in practice, which is going to
- 3:20Speaker 1: be the worst way to get knocked out of a tournament.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Okay, so news just in. Apparently there was a cover
- 3:25Speaker 2: on the court and that's why he rolled his ankle,
- 3:27Speaker 2: and now they're going to try and sue.
- 3:30Speaker 1: What I mean, what like a rain cover? Is he
- 3:33Speaker 1: playing on a tarp?
- 3:35Speaker 3: For our audio listeners. Showing on screen now is a
- 3:39Speaker 3: New York Times article with a headline that reads.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Alexander blocks his team consider compensation claim after French Open
- 3:46Speaker 2: top accident.
- 3:47Speaker 3: So, yes, Mike, it was a top.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Well, I mean, we'll take it.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Hopefully, we'll take it.
- 3:55Speaker 1: We'll take the win, We'll take it.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Demon goes through.
- 3:58Speaker 1: He's through to the third round.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Uh.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Daria Kazakino won her first round match. That was britt
- 4:04Speaker 1: win front of the show. You know. Yeah, Unfortunately Duckworth
- 4:09Speaker 1: went out today to Spanish sensation of Raphael Hodar Hoder.
- 4:14Speaker 2: He's got a bit of hype.
- 4:15Speaker 1: He's got a lot of hype, and he made it interesting. Duckworth, like,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I think it was a He won a tie break
- 4:21Speaker 1: in the second set and then pushed Hodar in the
- 4:24Speaker 1: third and the fourth. But yes, changed Dockworth, that was
- 4:28Speaker 1: a battle. Yeah, disappointed, really unfortunate times. Hodar out on top,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and he's like a favorite to push to the you know,
- 4:38Speaker 1: round of sixteen at least. So the draw is opening up,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I mean, really crazy matches. Taylor Fritz out in the
- 4:46Speaker 1: first round. Yeah to BASSI already gone gone. Is this
- 4:51Speaker 1: because he's spending too much time at Renaissance fairs by himself?
- 4:55Speaker 2: Maybe? Yeah, maybe he's just gone through a breakups. He
- 4:59Speaker 2: might be going he might be just gaming too much,
- 5:02Speaker 2: not practicing enough. Who knows what this guy's gone he's
- 5:05Speaker 2: gone through some stuff.
- 5:06Speaker 1: He is going through some stuff.
- 5:08Speaker 2: You know, I really don't think my level was it
- 5:13Speaker 2: was that bad, to be honest, I think the all
- 5:15Speaker 2: things considered, I thought, actually I played al right.
- 5:18Speaker 1: And yeah, I just don't think he had the match
- 5:20Speaker 1: fitness on clay. He played one tournament leading up to
- 5:23Speaker 1: the French and he went out in the first round.
- 5:26Speaker 1: And you know, Americans classically don't like clay as a
- 5:30Speaker 1: surface in general. So yeah, he just didn't have his
- 5:34Speaker 1: clay legs under him. And what was knocked out by
- 5:38Speaker 1: a fellow American great college player Bassive already.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I haven't played a lot of matches. I'm
- 5:44Speaker 2: a bit I'm a bit rusty. I still I said,
- 5:46Speaker 2: I think I played, you know, I really think I
- 5:48Speaker 2: played alright today.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and then some other matches. Well, what did you
- 5:52Speaker 1: think of Osaka's fashion out statement for the French?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I liked the playing dress that was revealed,
- 6:01Speaker 2: the gold sparkly dress. Quite liked that. I think it
- 6:04Speaker 2: matched well with the clay. The black dress coming out, Nah,
- 6:09Speaker 2: I just felt hot watching her come out, not in
- 6:12Speaker 2: a good way, in a sweaty way. It's like thirty
- 6:15Speaker 2: five degrees and she's walking out in a black ball gown.
- 6:18Speaker 2: It's like, no, at least make it a daytime dress.
- 6:22Speaker 2: You have to have two options. I think she just
- 6:25Speaker 2: sort of rolled the dice on that. If she had
- 6:26Speaker 2: a night game, it would have been all right, but
- 6:28Speaker 2: she needed a day a day game backup dress because
- 6:32Speaker 2: that walking out. I was like, no, no, no, no,
- 6:35Speaker 2: that's not suitable.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Would this intimidate you if your opponent showed up dressed
- 6:40Speaker 1: like the Babba Duke.
- 6:44Speaker 2: No, I think I'd just be like, what the hell
- 6:46Speaker 2: is she doing? She got under there? I just feel
- 6:49Speaker 2: like she's just sweaty. Again. Nobody thinks about what happens
- 6:54Speaker 2: to the skirt once she takes it off. She just
- 6:56Speaker 2: kind of like throws it on the chair. I like
- 6:59Speaker 2: that she's having fun. I like that she's bringing a
- 7:02Speaker 2: bit of personality. Yeah, you know, I'd love to see
- 7:05Speaker 2: that in tennis. But as from a from a style
- 7:09Speaker 2: and design perspective, I'm like, eh, you can do better.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Regardless she's winning and she's through.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Yeah, well you want to win. That's that's the other thing.
- 7:19Speaker 2: If you're walking out like that, you can't lose.
- 7:22Speaker 1: You can't. I mean, surely, it's distracting to be like, oh,
- 7:26Speaker 1: I have to dress like I'm going to a medieval baptism.
- 7:34Speaker 1: On an even more somber note than her dress. The
- 7:39Speaker 1: legends that have already been bounced from the tournament.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Gail mom Fees sad he's last French Open with Rinka.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah gone, but I guess with Rinka he'll be it.
- 7:52Speaker 2: He'll be at Wimbledon though, right.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's going to retire in Basil so
- 7:57Speaker 1: home tournament towards the end of the season. Mon Fees.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I don't know if he's made an announcement yet, but
- 8:04Speaker 1: obviously he's the French favorite. He's been playing it for,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you know, since he was winning the juniors there in
- 8:10Speaker 1: two thousand and four. But which one like struck more
- 8:14Speaker 1: of a chord with you once they got bounced, Like,
- 8:17Speaker 1: which which one were you? Like? Ah? Damn, I wanted
- 8:19Speaker 1: to watch I think Gail that player.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah, because like I've seen a lot of his highlights
- 8:25Speaker 2: reels pop up in my feed and then just I
- 8:28Speaker 2: forgot how crazy athletic he was, like some of the
- 8:32Speaker 2: shots he made. He's so fun, he's fun to watch.
- 8:35Speaker 2: He's just a cool personality. I mean, so is Stan,
- 8:39Speaker 2: but like Gail is just something else.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Yeah, Stan was. I mean, Stan has won it before,
- 8:45Speaker 1: so you're like, ah, you've won it, You're fine, but still,
- 8:48Speaker 1: you know, sad to see him go. It's funny how
- 8:51Speaker 1: Maren chilliic like he got bounced as well, but people
- 8:54Speaker 1: are like, oh, yeah, we don't care about that. Yeah,
- 8:57Speaker 1: he's like a Grand Slam winner that thirty seven years old.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Oh he got bounced by the seventeen year old.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I'm me. Yeah, And so there's a twenty
- 9:08Speaker 1: year age difference, and it's just wild. Chilich was in
- 9:11Speaker 1: the top twenty when Kwame was born. Yeah, it's wild
- 9:15Speaker 1: to think about.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I mean, what other sport do you get a twenty
- 9:19Speaker 1: year thirty year age gap. If all boxing matches were
- 9:22Speaker 1: a thirty year age gap, I would watch the hell
- 9:24Speaker 1: out of all.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yeah, who did you? Who are you going to miss? Mare? Gailstan?
- 9:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're right, Gail montfees being the consummate
- 9:34Speaker 1: entertainer and just such a showman out there. But then
- 9:38Speaker 1: Varenka's backhand being like probably the most perfect backhand outside
- 9:42Speaker 1: of uh maybe Gasque who retired last year, or you know,
- 9:48Speaker 1: Federer obviously, but yeah, I think both those guys, it's
- 9:52Speaker 1: just like it's one of both of them not playing
- 9:55Speaker 1: this particular slam again. It's like a wake up call
- 9:58Speaker 1: for that. I'm old.
- 10:02Speaker 2: It really is end of an era.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Sad to see him go, but plenty of players obviously
- 10:07Speaker 1: still marching on and getting through center, making easy work
- 10:11Speaker 1: in his first round as expected. Djokovic now through to
- 10:15Speaker 1: the third round. He dropped one set again today against
- 10:20Speaker 1: Roye French player, So the French crowd. He's played two
- 10:24Speaker 1: French players in a row and the crowd hasn't been
- 10:26Speaker 1: on his side, but he's come through pretty easily and
- 10:31Speaker 1: also the right now. Halfway through the second round, Djokovic
- 10:35Speaker 1: owns the shot of the tournament, hitting an around the
- 10:38Speaker 1: net passing shot, not a passing shot, just through in
- 10:43Speaker 1: front of the chair umpire. It was that small gap
- 10:45Speaker 1: and from the chair umpire the net and it is
- 10:48Speaker 1: absolutely amazing. Oh yeah, Rebeccena is out.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I saw that this morning.
- 10:57Speaker 1: But it was a killer match. It was in the
- 11:00Speaker 1: decider ten to four starodub sever a Ukrainian player, Yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 1: took out Rebecca. It was the number two seed for
- 11:08Speaker 1: the tournament, so that's an absolutely wild Yeah, probably the
- 11:12Speaker 1: biggest upset so far. And here's the big question that
- 11:16Speaker 1: everyone's debating. How do you feel about the h the
- 11:20Speaker 1: no electric line calls?
- 11:22Speaker 2: Because there was like one guy, Pierre Herbert, he went crazy,
- 11:27Speaker 2: you're gonna see.
- 11:28Speaker 1: It looking in the eye.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You're gonna see it.
- 11:31Speaker 1: It's gonna be out and you're gonna be if you.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Go say sorry after. That's why I never speak to
- 11:37Speaker 3: you again.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Which is like if you asked chat GBT to come
- 11:40Speaker 1: up with a French.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Name, Yeah, how's that for you? Do you want to
- 11:46Speaker 2: make him a cat? He's a black and white cat
- 11:51Speaker 2: that plays tennis. But yeah, I so there's no electronic
- 11:57Speaker 2: line call on the clay, but that in some tournaments, yes, right.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And all the lead up tournaments I think there was.
- 12:04Speaker 1: It's just the French Tennis Federation has been like.
- 12:07Speaker 2: They don't like the change.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I like it. I liked the drama. I like the
- 12:14Speaker 1: I like watching grown adults point at dirt and yell
- 12:17Speaker 1: at each other.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I don't know, I kind of love watching the umpire
- 12:20Speaker 2: having to get off their chair and like move their
- 12:22Speaker 2: legs a little bit. They probably appreciate that they're up
- 12:24Speaker 2: there for a long time. They're like, finally I get
- 12:27Speaker 2: to stretch my legs. They're an economy up there, and it's.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it just adds a fascinating element that I think
- 12:33Speaker 1: we've lost with electronic line calls and all the other tournaments.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I know, the electronic line calls speed up the game
- 12:40Speaker 1: and there's you know, obviously less conflict, but I mean,
- 12:44Speaker 1: come on, add some drama to the sport. And then
- 12:48Speaker 1: core Patch played Wang today and there was another dispute
- 12:52Speaker 1: over a line call. Wang went around to core Patch's
- 12:56Speaker 1: side at the court to look at the mark from
- 12:58Speaker 1: the ball. They start arguing with each other, she gets
- 13:02Speaker 1: a code violation and then they and then cor Patch
- 13:06Speaker 1: refuses to shake her hand at the net. So it
- 13:08Speaker 1: was amazing.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I love the conflict drama. You're not allowed to go
- 13:12Speaker 2: over to someone else's side of the court, no, yeah, no.
- 13:16Speaker 1: No, no no no, so yeah. And then they watched
- 13:20Speaker 1: the press conference with cor Patch after She's like, yeah,
- 13:23Speaker 1: it was crazy. She came over, she argued the line.
- 13:26Speaker 1: She was pointing at two different marks, but both of
- 13:28Speaker 1: them were out. So yeah, there's no shortage of drama.
- 13:34Speaker 1: The French love a bit of drama. Don't they.
- 13:36Speaker 2: So when the players point to the dirt, the little
- 13:38Speaker 2: divid in the dirt, does that over overrule a lot
- 13:42Speaker 2: of the time be like, hey, look it went well.
- 13:45Speaker 1: It's the chair Empire's discretion obviously. And I think the
- 13:50Speaker 1: issue there is the chair empires meant to look at
- 13:53Speaker 1: the mark from the chair, come down off the chair,
- 13:56Speaker 1: and then go this was the mark. It was out
- 13:59Speaker 1: or it was in. If the player is pointing at
- 14:02Speaker 1: a different mark, this is where you get into a
- 14:04Speaker 1: confusing gray area trying to you know, uh, trick or cheat, yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Because its around you know, especially but game.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Is that well is that mark exactly? So I mean again,
- 14:19Speaker 1: it's up to the chair on pire. And there's plenty
- 14:21Speaker 1: of calls already within the first you know, a couple
- 14:23Speaker 1: of rounds of this tournament of players going no, that's
- 14:26Speaker 1: the wrong mark or it clearly brushed the line, but
- 14:29Speaker 1: didn't you know, connect solidly with it. And it's uh,
- 14:33Speaker 1: it's it is kind of silly with the hindsight of
- 14:39Speaker 1: all the other tournaments using electronic line calls and having
- 14:42Speaker 1: there be no debate. But like I said before, I
- 14:47Speaker 1: love it.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I mean drama.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So Lizzie, that's the end of the first round and
- 15:00Speaker 1: halfway through the second round of the French Open. What
- 15:04Speaker 1: has your predictions changed? Where do you see it going
- 15:07Speaker 1: from here?
- 15:07Speaker 2: Swiddelina is still in, yes, and I think she'll be
- 15:10Speaker 2: doing it for Gale.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 15:12Speaker 2: He had a beautiful tribute to her as well. It
- 15:15Speaker 2: was all in French, but I read the comments someone
- 15:18Speaker 2: had He wasn't French. I could understand it, but it
- 15:22Speaker 2: sounded beautiful. But I went into the comments and some
- 15:26Speaker 2: beautiful person had translated it for everyone and was like,
- 15:29Speaker 2: here's the English translation, and it was it was a
- 15:32Speaker 2: nice tribute to Swidelina. And I just obsessed with those
- 15:36Speaker 2: two anyway. Sidelina is still in. She's still my favorite.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And I mean Djokovic he's still there.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I love that. I mean, I think those are two
- 15:45Speaker 1: very entertaining choices that will be awesome to see even
- 15:49Speaker 1: go deep into the second week. And it should be said,
- 15:53Speaker 1: Siddelina beat Cocoa Golf in the final of Rome, you know,
- 15:57Speaker 1: five six days ago, So that's why that Gail Monte's
- 16:00Speaker 1: tribute came out about what an amazing woman she is.
- 16:03Speaker 1: It's awesome she's winning one thousand events. You know and
- 16:07Speaker 1: lead ups to a Grand Slam, so she has that
- 16:10Speaker 1: form coming in, so that's going to be awesome to watch.
- 16:14Speaker 1: What do I think?
- 16:15Speaker 2: I hear you ask, I'm sorry, let me us, Mike,
- 16:22Speaker 2: and what do you think.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I think? I'm sticking with my original predictions of Igashavontek
- 16:33Speaker 1: reclaiming the crown of the French Open. She is looks
- 16:38Speaker 1: like she has in the past on clay. She's absolutely
- 16:41Speaker 1: stomping opponents. Granted she hasn't come up against any huge
- 16:46Speaker 1: names yet, but I think she's looking kind of like
- 16:50Speaker 1: her former out there and then boring. But I can't
- 16:56Speaker 1: go as center just running through the tournament.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Just hours after recording this pond, Mike was proved wrong.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Although it is hot and oh yeah, we know he
- 17:12Speaker 2: doesn't like the hate.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Just hours after recording this pond, Lizzie was proved right.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Lizzie, we've been blowing up on socials, uhroub Yeah, viral,
- 17:35Speaker 1: just sweep viral. Something tells me that when a French
- 17:40Speaker 1: guy says I am viral, it means something else. We've
- 17:46Speaker 1: had a few posts go up. When Tonts was on
- 17:48Speaker 1: a few weeks ago, there was the chat about the
- 17:51Speaker 1: Madrid models as ball girls. That had a big response
- 17:55Speaker 1: from in cels saying, yeah, what's your point? This would
- 17:59Speaker 1: should be how it is at all tournaments. Yeah. And
- 18:02Speaker 1: then this one went crazy US during the Australian Open
- 18:09Speaker 1: and I said I prompted him, I said, would you
- 18:11Speaker 1: say pickleball is tennis for people with no athletic ability?
- 18:14Speaker 1: And he was like absolutely. I put the clip up
- 18:18Speaker 1: and it went so crazy viral that this is like
- 18:21Speaker 1: a week and a half ago. It's that thing where
- 18:23Speaker 1: you wake up to more comments every day every day.
- 18:26Speaker 2: How do I turn those comments off? Every day? It's
- 18:30Speaker 2: like some angry pickleballer that's like, these guys don't know
- 18:33Speaker 2: what they're talking about. I've played both sports, and why
- 18:37Speaker 2: are they having to go with people having fun? And
- 18:39Speaker 2: I'm like, oh my god, this is what thing is.
- 18:43Speaker 2: You're proving the point.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I know, and the thing is we played both. I
- 18:47Speaker 1: know you have fun doing both and we support both.
- 18:52Speaker 1: But imagine getting that angry and like typing out comments
- 18:56Speaker 1: about a sport with pickle in the title.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I know, and it's Tommy has of course he's going
- 19:01Speaker 2: to have an opinion that's pro tennis. He's not going
- 19:04Speaker 2: to come out and be like, actually, my heart take
- 19:07Speaker 2: is pickaball rules. Can you imagine if he did that?
- 19:13Speaker 1: I know, I know, and so like he's a legend.
- 19:16Speaker 1: He shared it in his stories. I think he's loving
- 19:19Speaker 1: all the traction it's getting. And uh, it's because like
- 19:22Speaker 1: the comments are so people go crazy very for the juggular.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's they're not they're not reading. I don't think
- 19:30Speaker 2: they know that we're comedians or it's just a funny
- 19:33Speaker 2: little a stupid little pod, you know. Gosh, anyway, we
- 19:39Speaker 2: still love PICKBA, we still play it.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Actually, so I signed up for like an open play
- 19:45Speaker 1: pickleball center down the road from my parents' house. Fun. Yeah,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and you got to put in like what rating you
- 19:54Speaker 1: think you are, Like it's like called the duper rating.
- 19:57Speaker 1: It's one through six. Six is basically pro. And then
- 20:00Speaker 1: I just said, I'll just say three point five. I
- 20:03Speaker 1: don't know. And then I showed up and all the
- 20:07Speaker 1: other players were eighty plus. Oh no, Mike, I mean
- 20:15Speaker 1: it made me feel young again, beautiful. But then I
- 20:19Speaker 1: absolutely dominated these dusty old Yeah I think. Yeah, one
- 20:28Speaker 1: guy burst, uh is colostomy bag.
- 20:35Speaker 2: And then you were gonna say that I'm like he
- 20:37Speaker 2: burst is not colostomy bag okay.
- 20:42Speaker 1: But they were like, oh, you're hitting it too hard.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Be careful, you might hood my epidemis. And they're like,
- 20:49Speaker 1: why are you being so aggressive? Please set down. But
- 20:54Speaker 1: it was so funny and I actually loved it. But
- 20:57Speaker 1: they asked me to come back and play tomorrow. I
- 21:00Speaker 1: don't think I would.
- 21:01Speaker 2: You a bit sore.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I'm a bit sore.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:06Speaker 1: The fascinating thing about the pickleball Tommy Haas clip is
- 21:10Speaker 1: that the clip that I had posted right before that
- 21:13Speaker 1: one was I thought the most viral anything would go
- 21:17Speaker 1: for me for you know, in the last few years,
- 21:20Speaker 1: Like it was a clip that I recorded on an
- 21:23Speaker 1: airplane of a drunk Oh, we've got a talk all
- 21:27Speaker 1: over the place.
- 21:28Speaker 2: This is crazy. Mike g comedian goes viral for someone
- 21:34Speaker 2: else getting drunk, which is great. I mean, sure, those
- 21:38Speaker 2: plane those plane moments. I mean, I've never seen anything
- 21:42Speaker 2: like this on a plane. Obviously you hear about it
- 21:44Speaker 2: because someone gets the cameraund and start shooting. But you
- 21:48Speaker 2: were there, you were front.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Row for a context. I was. I was on a
- 21:52Speaker 1: sixteen and a half hour long flight from Melbourne to Dallas,
- 21:57Speaker 1: brutal absolutely brutal.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Well one way like no stop.
- 22:01Speaker 1: No stop, yea yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, that's so direct
- 22:05Speaker 1: Melbourne to Dallas. And then to add three hours onto
- 22:09Speaker 1: our journey, we had to stop in Tahiti to drop
- 22:12Speaker 1: the drunkest man I've ever seen in my life off
- 22:15Speaker 1: the plane.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that is crazy. So three and how far into
- 22:20Speaker 2: the journey were you?
- 22:22Speaker 1: We're about four and a half hours in. So what
- 22:24Speaker 1: had happened was like I heard a commotion on the
- 22:28Speaker 1: other side of the cabin all of a sudden, all
- 22:30Speaker 1: the flight attendants are like around and you could tell
- 22:32Speaker 1: like there's something happening, and then word spread throughout its economy.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Look so pub labor's doing well, but not that well.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm an economy go.
- 22:43Speaker 1: It turns out this guy got into his seat passed
- 22:46Speaker 1: out right when he boarded the plane, but then the
- 22:48Speaker 1: person in front of him, four hours into the flight,
- 22:50Speaker 1: put their seat back and it woke him up, and
- 22:53Speaker 1: he went on this drunken tirade right and then they
- 22:58Speaker 1: moved him to my side of the plane and they
- 23:00Speaker 1: put him, I swear to God, in the seat behind me,
- 23:03Speaker 1: and I was like, I'm gonna put my seat back.
- 23:09Speaker 1: But before I got a chance. He was up and
- 23:11Speaker 1: out of his seat, and he was like running around
- 23:13Speaker 1: the plane, and then he like locked himself in the bathroom.
- 23:17Speaker 1: He was trying to get out for a cigarette, and
- 23:21Speaker 1: he obviously like look at my instagram the you know,
- 23:26Speaker 1: it's wild. He's yelling at flight attendants. It took four
- 23:31Speaker 1: flight attendants and three passengers to pin him down and
- 23:35Speaker 1: do him in the back of the plane. And I've
- 23:38Speaker 1: recorded the whole thing because I'm the real hero.
- 23:41Speaker 2: You are You didn't you didn't you didn't volunteer to
- 23:45Speaker 2: do a pin down.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I couldn't pin down and record, of course not too hot.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Then the announcement comes through that we can't subdue him,
- 23:57Speaker 1: you know, especially for another ten hours. He kept kept
- 24:00Speaker 1: fighting and struggling, and so we stopped in Tahiti to
- 24:04Speaker 1: drop him off. And it was the most it made
- 24:07Speaker 1: the honestly made the trip go quicker because when you're
- 24:11Speaker 1: bonding with everyone around you about it, and it's like
- 24:14Speaker 1: it was crazy and people were super pissed because everyone
- 24:17Speaker 1: missed their connections. I just spent the night in Dallas,
- 24:21Speaker 1: But since then I've done countless news interviews because of
- 24:28Speaker 1: what people are obsessed with passengers going out on the
- 24:31Speaker 1: po and I got so bored with the news interviews.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I just started making up stuff to see if they
- 24:37Speaker 1: reported on it.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Okay, what what are you made up things?
- 24:42Speaker 1: I said. He kept shouting about being in the Illuminati,
- 24:45Speaker 1: which is a lie. I said he had an ed
- 24:49Speaker 1: sheeran tramp stamp. I said, not only was he trying
- 24:56Speaker 1: to because he bit he bit a flight attendant and
- 24:58Speaker 1: he actually.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Bit one of the that's real, that's real.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah. So I said, not only was
- 25:05Speaker 1: he biting people, but he was also we caught him
- 25:07Speaker 1: drinking out of the toilet. And I don't know, like
- 25:13Speaker 1: because I'm not in Australia, so I like, I was
- 25:15Speaker 1: on Channel seven.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Hey I heard you on the radio.
- 25:18Speaker 1: But the crazy thing in relation to us in this
- 25:21Speaker 1: podcast is that clip went up millions of views, whatever comments,
- 25:27Speaker 1: it gets poached by bigger pages. That's all annoying. But
- 25:31Speaker 1: then the clip after that was talking pickleball with Tommy Hawks,
- 25:35Speaker 1: and that clip has gotten more traction now than the drunk.
- 25:41Speaker 2: People are more angry about pickleball than a drunk on
- 25:45Speaker 2: a plane. Yeah, this is the pickleball community, they knox.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I just remembered one more wrinkle to the drunk guy
- 25:53Speaker 1: on the plane. His ex girlfriend ended up contacting me.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Okay, so what's happened to him?
- 25:58Speaker 1: Well, that's what I asked. I was like, do you
- 26:00Speaker 1: want to give a name? Could you tell us anything?
- 26:02Speaker 1: And she was like, no, I'm not giving you any information,
- 26:05Speaker 1: but I will say he's actually a nice guy and
- 26:07Speaker 1: he means well And I was like, okay, but is
- 26:10Speaker 1: he okay? Is he back in Australia? And she goes,
- 26:13Speaker 1: we have no idea. All we know is that a
- 26:16Speaker 1: few days ago he put up a post on Facebook
- 26:18Speaker 1: saying I'm going to Dallas. Woo who and then has
- 26:21Speaker 1: since deleted that post. Am I dumb mine, dumb mine.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Dump now Mike. Our favorite segment, apart from Mike's anagrams,
- 26:40Speaker 2: obviously the rip approaching the Net featuring Lizzy Who. That's
- 26:49Speaker 2: what it says, announced you know cool? She featuring me?
- 26:55Speaker 2: It's where I get great online content and we talk
- 26:59Speaker 2: about it, which is how I can tennis. We tear
- 27:02Speaker 2: it to pieces. First one at the net is Sinner's
- 27:05Speaker 2: Gucci commercial. Have you seen this?
- 27:20Speaker 1: I have it. He's holding the Apple tennis ball.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Apple tennis Ball because his last name is Sinner. See
- 27:31Speaker 2: what they did there?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yes, ah, the original.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Center Original Sinner.
- 27:37Speaker 1: So is he going to have to remove a rib
- 27:40Speaker 1: to create a female?
- 27:44Speaker 2: I don't know. He kind of looks cool in it.
- 27:47Speaker 1: He looks like a Gucci model.
- 27:49Speaker 2: He looks like a Gucci model. He is a Gucci model.
- 27:51Speaker 2: But I don't know. I don't think it's that original.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Okay, well, I want he's holding the tennis ball apple.
- 27:58Speaker 1: He slowly looks up and then the smallest smile I've
- 28:01Speaker 1: ever seen.
- 28:02Speaker 2: It does a creepy little smile.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I want you to give me look down and then
- 28:08Speaker 1: look up and give me your best, the tiniest smile
- 28:11Speaker 1: you can possibly.
- 28:12Speaker 2: I've got a big green tennis bawl in front of me,
- 28:16Speaker 2: and tennis ball is not in any just not a
- 28:19Speaker 2: normal tennis ball. And I'm going to be the original Sinner?
- 28:24Speaker 2: And action did I do it?
- 28:34Speaker 1: I guess?
- 28:36Speaker 2: Okay, right, wait, I think I need to get I
- 28:41Speaker 2: need to fix my hair.
- 28:43Speaker 1: You don't what? And action? Oh my god, that's terrifying?
- 28:56Speaker 2: Is that good?
- 28:57Speaker 1: So scary? That was terrify?
- 29:03Speaker 2: The original Sinner? That is it?
- 29:07Speaker 1: You look like the girl coming out of the TV
- 29:09Speaker 1: in the Ring. It was.
- 29:11Speaker 2: It's not the first time I've been told I look
- 29:14Speaker 2: like the girl in the Ring.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I mean, I'll try one. I'll try one right now.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I only have this the Wold action.
- 29:29Speaker 2: That was a teeny tiny smart that was teeny wow.
- 29:36Speaker 2: All right, we're moving on to oh friend of the
- 29:40Speaker 2: pod maybe. Well, he was mentioned in our pod with Hughesy.
- 29:45Speaker 2: He's a friend friend by association Russell Crowe.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Yes, Eryl and I worked with him on Sampang Show last.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys worked with him. You've actually seen him
- 29:55Speaker 2: in the flesh. Wow? Did you talk to him?
- 30:01Speaker 1: He took over, he kicked here's some behind the scenes.
- 30:04Speaker 1: He kicked Sam Pag out of his own dressing room
- 30:06Speaker 1: because his wasn't big enough. Oh, he took over.
- 30:10Speaker 2: How funny is that? And then he kicked him out
- 30:13Speaker 2: of his chair on set?
- 30:15Speaker 1: Right, That was my idea because he was bitching about
- 30:18Speaker 1: his chair, and so at the commercial break or whatever,
- 30:20Speaker 1: I just went up and I was like switch chairs
- 30:22Speaker 1: before he come back. And then it was so good
- 30:25Speaker 1: because you know peg sits on phone books. Yeah. So
- 30:33Speaker 1: what happened with Rusty.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Well, Russy was in the crowd and he caught a ball.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Whoa, that's cool.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Roland Garros put out this. They're like, hey, Russell crows
- 30:43Speaker 2: in the crowd after he caught the ball, mind you.
- 30:46Speaker 2: And then they have a photo of Russell with the
- 30:48Speaker 2: ball and then him in the crowd, and then they
- 30:50Speaker 2: said this is Sparta, but they've crossed out Spada and
- 30:54Speaker 2: put Roland Garros but Sparta is Spars the wrong movie.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Yeah, if god on with.
- 31:01Speaker 2: That other guy, what's his name, Jared Butler?
- 31:04Speaker 1: Butler?
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yeah, wrong person, I mean wrong old guy with.
- 31:08Speaker 1: The obvious Gladiator one right there is Are you not entertained?
- 31:13Speaker 2: You should be doing the wrong socials, mic, I don't
- 31:17Speaker 2: know what would I have gone. I caught a ball,
- 31:21Speaker 2: put put me in the slips, That's what I would
- 31:24Speaker 2: have gone with. Put me in the slips.
- 31:26Speaker 1: That's free. And that's from Gladiator as well.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's what happens to Gladia. Actually that's what
- 31:32Speaker 2: they do in the coliseum and they just play cricket.
- 31:37Speaker 1: But what Tiger is like, oh that would be both.
- 31:43Speaker 2: But yeah, he was there, he caught a ball. He's
- 31:45Speaker 2: living his best life. He looked very dressed up, to
- 31:48Speaker 2: be honest, he's in a three piece Yeah, he's in
- 31:51Speaker 2: a three piece for a thirty degree day. Russell Crowe
- 31:55Speaker 2: is rocking a three piece suit.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Maybe he's shedding for his third wedding.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Really he's getting married.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Mike's lies.
- 32:10Speaker 1: And ed Sharon tramp stand.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Okay, last one for you, Mike. Are you excited?
- 32:18Speaker 1: I'm excited. What do you got?
- 32:19Speaker 2: I've got the most fabulous of all time? Okay, We're
- 32:25Speaker 2: at the Towpath Tennis Center in Ohio.
- 32:29Speaker 1: What is that?
- 32:30Speaker 2: It's Capierra. I'm thinking. I think he's doing a little capewerra.
- 32:34Speaker 2: So he does two complete three sixty spins, not backflips,
- 32:40Speaker 2: kind of spinny things, and then yeah, he serves, and
- 32:46Speaker 2: I assume it goes over the net.
- 32:48Speaker 1: What a way to do an acl It's like, oh,
- 32:50Speaker 1: I did a play in tennis capaera. Yeah, I love that.
- 32:55Speaker 1: There appears to be old people picking up trash in
- 32:57Speaker 1: the background, and he's just living his best life.
- 33:00Speaker 2: So, Mike, is this how you look against the octagenarians
- 33:04Speaker 2: at pickleball? Look? Is this what's happening in your mind?
- 33:14Speaker 1: Yeah? Well, when I played the Golden Girls and I
- 33:19Speaker 1: was parcouring off the walls.
- 33:27Speaker 2: So we have a Quizzy who winner beautiful segment crazy who?

- 34:05Speaker 2: but the answer was actually four and a Rash got
- 34:07Speaker 2: that grass Rebound as Plexi, Cushion, Prestige and the green set.

- 34:53Speaker 2: winning Quizzy, who automatically makes me an honorary fourth host
- 34:57Speaker 2: of PLA. But if the budget doesn't allow that, I'll
- 35:00Speaker 2: settle for a signed tennis ball and a greeting in
- 35:03Speaker 2: Swedish from Mike. Pronunciation accuracy not required. He wants the
- 35:08Speaker 2: greeting from you, Mike. Do you know how to say
