- 0:06Speaker 2: Guitar Welcome to the show. I'm Miles and today I'm
- 0:12Speaker 2: going to tell you how to properly hold a guitar pick.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I'm going to start by saying that there's no truly
- 0:17Speaker 2: proper way to hold a guitar pick, but there are
- 0:20Speaker 2: arguably more convenient methods, and the most commonly top method
- 0:26Speaker 2: is to kind of curl your first finger and then
- 0:29Speaker 2: put the pick between your thumb and your first finger.
- 0:34Speaker 2: And this brings me to one of my favorite tips
- 0:37Speaker 2: for learning how to hold a guitar pick, which is
- 0:40Speaker 2: to get a thumb pick. Because the thumb pick solves
- 0:43Speaker 2: this problem for you. You put it on your thumb and
- 0:47Speaker 2: then it's very clear that what you need to do
- 0:50Speaker 2: is fold your first finger so that you can hold
- 0:54Speaker 2: on to that thumb pick. So that's one of the
- 0:56Speaker 2: best ways to learn how to properly hold your guitar
- 1:00Speaker 2: pick and other things to Other things to consider when
- 1:04Speaker 2: it comes to holding the guitar pick are anchoring your
- 1:07Speaker 2: hand or resting your hand on the bridge. Some people
- 1:11Speaker 2: like to anchor their pinky on the body of the guitar.
- 1:15Speaker 2: But you just want to rest your hand in order
- 1:18Speaker 2: to improve your picking accuracy and in order to eliminate energy.
- 1:26Speaker 2: You don't want to exhaust your picking hand. And that's it,
- 1:30Speaker 2: you know. Of course, this is easier to explain visually,
- 1:33Speaker 2: and I actually have a video about this on my
- 1:35Speaker 2: YouTube channel. But long story short, go ahead and buy
- 1:41Speaker 2: a Fred Kelly Bumblebee guitar pick. I'll have a link
- 1:44Speaker 2: to one in my description, and I hope you have
- 1:48Speaker 2: a good day. I'll catch you in the next episode.
