- 3:29It was a beautiful weekend and today was the start of fall here
- 3:34in Long Island, New York. It was about 68° at its highest.
- 3:38So I'm kind of liking this weather.
- 3:40I would rather a little bit lower.
- 3:42I would say about 5055. That's where my weather is.
- 3:46That's my touch because you can wear sweatshirts.
- 3:48You're not soaked up sweat and all that other garbage.
- 3:51Over here in Long Island, there's no more humidity, so
- 3:54that is a good thing. The only thing I can't stand is
- 3:56the crickets, those spider crickets here in Island, they
- 3:59don't go away until it gets really cold.
- 4:01But Jabba, how is it, you know, over there in Nebraska, in
- 4:04Cornville, USA? Well, we still have the
- 4:09humidity, so we'll take that from you because it's miserable
- 4:14and ours aren't crickets. It's grasshoppers.
- 4:16Grasshoppers. And I'm, we're talking like this
- 4:18big, like we're talking monster grasshoppers, like the ones we
- 4:22used to growing up in a trailer park.
- 4:24We'd get the ones there and then we'd RIP their legs off and then
- 4:26wrap firecrackers around and blow them up.
- 4:29That was our fun back in the day.
- 4:31But yeah, it was nice. Other than what we, we'll, we'll
- 4:36keep the humidity here for as long as it goes usually.
- 4:38So it's been warm. It actually felt like 96 today.
- 4:42So it's another day of, of hot, I think.
- 4:45And then I think we get back down to the mid, mid late 70s
- 4:49somewhere in there. That is hot man 96°.
- 4:52It's the beginning of fall. It hits you like that sticky
- 4:56like this. Yeah, and.
- 4:58It's you need a powder. And when it gets cold over
- 5:01there, because I know you're not too far from Kansas City, it
- 5:04gets cold over there in Nebraska and Cornville, USA.
- 5:06So it's crazy. By the way, you look fantastic,
- 5:09man. You look like you lost a lot of
- 5:11weight, man. You really do.
- 5:13You look really good. I got to say that.
- 5:15I appreciate it. I, I, I've, I got to give you
- 5:18credit when credit is due. Jabba has been working on his
- 5:21diet and he's running a lot and he's doing a lot of different
- 5:25things when. It comes to you just said my
- 5:26head looks smaller. You do.
- 5:28You look good. Jabba, I got to interject real
- 5:30quick just for the fact that like as someone who's lost a lot
- 5:33of weight too, and me, I mean, I'm just going to put myself on
- 5:35camera real quick. I don't have the smallest head.
- 5:38I mean, I'm just going to say this is a big old caboose right
- 5:40here. I got but you know.
- 5:43What's what size? What size fitted you wear?
- 5:45Oh I don't, I don't wear fitted caps at all.
- 5:47I only wear beanies. Honestly I haven't worn a cap in
- 5:49like. That means he can't fit.
- 5:53In a fit hand, I really can't I'm.
- 5:55Serious. Even even wearing What is it the
- 5:58the snapbacks? Even wearing snapbacks.
- 6:00I'm wearing a snapback to. That right you can like suggest
- 6:02it to your head. The the Max is like still
- 6:04uncomfortable for my head. Oh man, his head, it's a
- 6:06gigantic. I got a big what A.
- 6:08Call in bro. Yeah.
- 6:09Melon Giganto. We'll call his head Giganto.
- 6:12OK, sounds. Crazy, I'm getting my big head
- 6:16off off the screen right now. No, you look good man, you
- 6:19really do what you could definitely see that you've lost
- 6:22a lot of weight and and it's great I I I too has have lost a
- 6:26lot of weight. I think I lost about 3132 lbs
- 6:29today. I weighed myself.
- 6:30I, I think it was Friday or Saturday.
- 6:33I was at my lowest weight I've been in over 15 years.
- 6:36I was 199 lbs and I, I don't want to go under 200.
- 6:40So I gained the weight back probably in a day.
- 6:43I'm walking between 2O2 and 2O3. That's where I want to be.
- 6:46I don't want to go any lighter than that.
- 6:48I feel good. I feel cut up and and I look
- 6:51delicious for all the women out there.
- 6:55Whoa, oops. Please.
- 6:58You look delicious. Really.
- 7:01I said for the women, not for you, Jabba.
- 7:03I mean, come on if you're. Well, no, no, no, I look for it.
- 7:06I. Love it.
- 7:09Yeah. You're going to look delicious
- 7:10for the ladies. I mean, you have to.
- 7:12Nice. Well, there you go.
- 7:13I mean, and for all the women out there, Jabba is not single
- 7:16anymore, and neither am I. At 9:30, we'll be talking.
- 7:22Rosie Palm and her five friends. That's right.
- 7:29You mean your 10 friends? It matters if you're right of
- 7:31your lefty. Well, I'm ambidextrous, so I
- 7:34throw right-handed. I right left-handed.
- 7:36You know, sometimes I sit on it, make it the stranger.
- 7:40Excuse me? It was a crazy weekend for
- 7:46football. A crazy how many field goal
- 7:48blocks, how many kick blocks? I mean, kickers going down this
- 7:53weekend. I mean, everything happened in
- 7:55the NFL and that's what we're going to start with because the
- 7:57NFL has just been absolutely crazy.
- 7:59Well, we we talked about kicking last week, how kickers are going
- 8:02to be in and out and a lot of games are going to be sided by
- 8:04a. 100% I think kickers are more just as important as
- 8:07quarterbacks, especially in the playoffs, because it usually
- 8:11comes down to a field goal kick. If you look at what has happened
- 8:14in, in different, you know, obviously wild card games and I,
- 8:19you talk about the NFC and AFC title games, I've seen it so
- 8:22many times. The kicker has to kick that 5354
- 8:26yard or 60 yard field goal. And now what you hear, what
- 8:29you're seeing more than usual is you're seeing these 6062 yard
- 8:34field goal kicks and a lot of them are doing and it's not just
- 8:37one, I think we've seen it from four or five different field
- 8:40goal kickers so far this year over 60 yards.
- 8:42So it's it's nothing. About think about their job,
- 8:45though, Errol and like they're obviously it's not the sexiest
- 8:49job in the world. No, but they are either.
- 8:52It's either feast or famine because it's either you're like
- 8:55you're the winner or you're the loser.
- 8:57It's not. I mean, everybody doesn't look
- 8:58at the little things before the game.
- 9:00They always see obviously the end result and it's like, oh, if
- 9:03it's a bad snap, nobody knows the long snapper's name.
- 9:05It's like it's all on, I mean, I guess the most famous holder in
- 9:10the Romo, but it's the kicker. And it's like then they grind it
- 9:14and it's like there's the least job security that they have
- 9:18because they're just waiting to get a new job or somebody in
- 9:22there. You know what's?
- 9:22Crazy about field goal kickers and like you were saying, is
- 9:25there are really just a few field goal kickers that you can
- 9:30remember over the years because they're guys like Adam
- 9:33Vinatieri. And we have we.
- 9:36Vinatieri has been very, very, very, very well known because of
- 9:39what he did with the Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts when
- 9:41he played over there. And he jumped from one city to
- 9:45another at the tail end of his career.
- 9:47And he was a big reason why they were a significant amount of.
- 9:51I've almost said Super Bowls that I've been one.
- 9:54I almost said Stanley cops, but yeah, so infinite Terry.
- 9:58We, we, we went on over that last week.
- 10:01We went through field goal kickers and and who stuck out
- 10:03from all the rest there there even in the NFL right now, how
- 10:06many field goal kickers are you going to remember?
- 10:09Honestly, they're around for a long, long time.
- 10:11Nick fault, the fault hero he's been around for in the NFL for
- 10:15about it's got to be about 16 years.
- 10:17He's been on like 7 or 8 different teams.
- 10:19He's back with The Jets. I mean, Prater just comes back
- 10:22after being a coach at high school one week before the
- 10:25season starts. So it's crazy.
- 10:28So the the kickers, there's only a systematic type of kickers are
- 10:34that are that last in the NFL for a significant amount of time
- 10:37and it's all about the system and and how they fit with the
- 10:40system. Speaking of systems, The Jets
- 10:42lost to the Buccaneers 29 to 27 on the last second field goal
- 10:47after they came back from a from down 26 to 13 in the fourth
- 10:51quarter after Alan Lazar caught a touchdown from Tyrod Taylor.
- 10:54Finally, Alan Lazar plays from Tyrod Taylor to cut the lead to
- 11:0026 to 20. Baker Mayfield and the Bucs set
- 11:03up for a field goal to go up two scores, but Will McDonald
- 11:08blocked the field goal and returned it all the way for a
- 11:12touchdown to put The Jets up 26, I mean 27 to 26.
- 11:15The Jets defense, however, had no answer for Mayfield and the
- 11:19Buccaneers, who once again drove down the field and won the game
- 11:23on a field goal with a time expiring kick.
- 11:27Future Hall of Famer wide receiver Mike Evans.
- 11:30I don't know about that. Speedy left the game in the
- 11:32fourth quarter with a hamstring injury, slowing the Bucs offense
- 11:37enough for The Jets to regain the life in them in the game.
- 11:42Reports say he is likely to be out multiple weeks.
- 11:47Rookie A Mecca Hold on a Buka had another good game with six
- 11:53catches for 85 yards and running back Bucky Irving had 9099 yards
- 12:00up from scrimmage. For The Jets, wide receiver
- 12:03Garrett Wilson had a nice game with 10 catches for 8084 yards
- 12:07and a touchdown, but no other receiver had more than 32 yards
- 12:12with backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor of in four injury Justin
- 12:17Fields. Taylor was actually The Jets
- 12:19leading rusher with 48 yards with the tandem of Braylon Allen
- 12:24and Bruce Hall combining for only 51 yards total.
- 12:27The Buccaneers are three and O for the first time since 2005
- 12:31and The Jets are O and three for the fourth time in the last
- 12:35eight years. Of course, Fish had to add that.
- 12:37Everybody's going to add how bad The Jets have been over the
- 12:40list. I don't know, 15 years.
- 12:43Here's the facts. I know everybody keeps on social
- 12:44media attacking my, my take about Mike Evans.
- 12:48Is Mike Evans really a Hall of Famer?
- 12:50Now, I, I will get into this a little bit later in the show or
- 12:54a little bit later in the content that I want to spit out.
- 12:57But here's the facts here. Brendan Marshall, if you look at
- 13:01his numbers, they're almost identical, almost identical to
- 13:07Mike Evans. Is Brendan Marshall ever going
- 13:10to the Hall of Fame? Honestly, Brennan Marshall
- 13:13almost had 13113 thousand yards. He has 83 touchdowns.
- 13:18Now Mike Evans has played a little bit longer, more
- 13:22consistently now he's played I think 6 last games.
- 13:28But Mike Evans has been really a starter since he's come into the
- 13:34NFLI. Remember when he came from Texas
- 13:36AMI? Remember when he played for
- 13:38Johnny Manziel and the Texan AM crazy or whatever you call them.
- 13:42What do they call them? Aggies.
- 13:44The Aggies? Give me a break.
- 13:45I don't even remember their name.
- 13:46That's how much I care less about Texas A&M football.
- 13:49I'm more of a Longhorn guy. A Longhorn.
- 13:52But here's the facts. Mike Evans is a great player.
- 13:57Is he a Hall of Famer? He's a borderline Hall of Famer
- 13:59because there are other wide receivers like Andre Johnson
- 14:03that are not in the Hall of Fame.
- 14:04You're going to tell me right now that Mike Evans is a better
- 14:07wide receiver than Andre Johnson?
- 14:10I wouldn't say so, but Mike Evans is a good player.
- 14:14He's a great player. He's one of the elite wide
- 14:16receivers we've seen in the last 10 seasons.
- 14:19We we've I think he reminds me of so.
- 14:22What's making you not that? What's making you think he's
- 14:24not? Here's the thing, and I I said
- 14:27it with Brendan Marshall and I'm consistently looking at numbers
- 14:30and consistently trying to estimate how these guys fit the
- 14:36profile of a Hall of Fame wide receiver.
- 14:39OK, Calvin Johnson. When we see Calvin Johnson,
- 14:42Calvin Johnson, Megatron is one of the greatest wide receivers,
- 14:46not only of this time over the last 30-40 years, what he did
- 14:50consistently over there with the Lions with a bad offensive line
- 14:54and a bad offense, yes, he had a good quarterback from that with
- 14:56Matthew Stafford, the running game wasn't so good.
- 15:00They didn't have that secondary wide receiver for years.
- 15:02They were trying to find that other guy.
- 15:04They had Jones over there. They were trying to add pieces
- 15:07over the years and couldn't find that second tier offensive
- 15:11option that maybe would have made Calvin Johnson even better.
- 15:16But you look at Mike Evans, he's played with good wide receivers.
- 15:20He really has. Mike Evans really been elite
- 15:23since. He's walked right down the first
- 15:25round of the draft in the top 10 when the Buccaneers drafted him
- 15:28in the first round in the top 10.
- 15:30He's great, he's sensational. Is he a Hall of Famer?
- 15:34You compared him to Andre Johnson.
- 15:36No, I didn't say he was Andre Johnson.
- 15:37I said could. Could you compare?
- 15:40He's not far away from. Him, no, he's not.
- 15:42And that's why I don't know if he's a Hall of Famer yet.
- 15:45When you say future Hall of Famer and and as a lot of people
- 15:48on social media says, Hall of Famer, absolutely first ballot
- 15:51Hall of Famer. How could you say that?
- 15:53He's not a first ballot Hall of Famer yet.
- 15:56He will be. He needs a little bit more time.
- 15:59I say two more years of consistency.
- 16:01He is absolutely a first ballot Hall of Famer, but he has to
- 16:05stay healthy. 30 more, 30 more touchdowns and Andre Johnson.
- 16:08That's fine, but different game. It's a different game.
- 16:11When Andre Johnson was playing that, it was more defense than
- 16:14it was offense. The NFL opened up the game.
- 16:16Now there's more touchdowns. You can't put your hands on the
- 16:20wide receivers. Andre Johnson was a big man and
- 16:23he was very aggressive. He they, you know who Andre
- 16:26Johnson reminds me of Debo Samuel.
- 16:28He reminds me of a a better version of Debo Samuel.
- 16:31A guy that can he can catch the ball in the backfield.
- 16:34He was very strong, very big, can run through guys.
- 16:37He played like a running back wide receiver when he played
- 16:40with the the Texans. We're going back and forth on
- 16:44why Andre Johnson and here's the truth.
- 16:48Andre Johnson is not in the Hall of Fame yet.
- 16:50And the reason why Andre Johnson's not in the Hall of
- 16:52Fame yet is because he was a borderline Hall of Famer if you
- 16:55compare his numbers. And again, it's a different game
- 16:58now. So Mike Evans, obviously he's
- 17:01going to have loaded numbers. We talked about the quarterback
- 17:04play. If you look at the the 80s and,
- 17:07and, and, and even the 70s, if you look at Staubach or even Joe
- 17:11Montano or Steve Young or then you look at the 90s on Steve
- 17:15Mack, Mac, no, what is it? McNair, Steve McNair?
- 17:20I'm trying to remember names because I'm trying to go back at
- 17:23some of the times from the 80s and the 90s and from the 70s.
- 17:26When you're looking at all the numbers, the numbers have gotten
- 17:29better as the years. That's as the decades went from
- 17:32one decade to another. And the reason why is the NFL
- 17:35rule changes, everything changes and and the NFL is trying to
- 17:39bring the offensive side of the ball more back than the
- 17:42defensive side of the ball. But we all know defense wins
- 17:45championships in every single sport and in the defensive side
- 17:48of the game. And again, when I look at the
- 17:51NFL, if you don't have a good defense, you don't have a good
- 17:53front seven, you don't have a good offensive line, you're not
- 17:55winning any Super Bowl, no matter how great your offense is
- 17:58and no matter how great your quarterback is.
- 18:00But yesterday there was a lot of interesting things.
- 18:03A lot of Jeff fans are upset. They're upset that The Jets
- 18:05lost. They had a chance to win the
- 18:07game. They were at one point up 2726.
- 18:11It looked like the The Jets were going to win.
- 18:14There was one minute and 50 seconds left and there were two
- 18:16timeouts. And I did not think the defense
- 18:19of the New York Jets, the way they play, prevent defense for
- 18:22years. And Steve Wilk and I'll get into
- 18:24the whole Steve Wilkes situation, all right.
- 18:26And I Baker Mayfield and Steve Wilkes as Steve Wilkes and
- 18:30Baker, we're not getting along over there with the the Carolina
- 18:34Panthers, but that's a whole nother story.
- 18:37The fact is, Will McDonald made one of those plays that you'll
- 18:42always remember as a Jet fan, athletically gifted.
- 18:44We've seen Will McDonald, if you watch some of the videos of him
- 18:48jumping over cars, you got a chance to see why this guy was a
- 18:52first round talent, why was a top 15th pick, and why The Jets
- 18:55decided to pick him when a lot of people thought he was a
- 18:58second round talent. His athletic ability, the way he
- 19:01can jump over cars, and what you saw with almost 2 minutes left
- 19:06of the game is an athletically gifted defensive lineman.
- 19:10Jump over, jump over a kicking offensive.
- 19:14What do they call that? A special teams kicking line
- 19:19where the kicker had no chance, blocking the ball and running it
- 19:23all the way in for a touchdown. You saw Aaron Glenn run down the
- 19:26field dancing and prancing as The Jets thought they were going
- 19:29to win the game. But with one minute and 50
- 19:32seconds left and The Jets chasing the whole game,
- 19:35especially in the first half, The Jets do not show up in the
- 19:38first half. Tyrod Taylor looked horrible.
- 19:40I had people texting me, including Eric Martini telling
- 19:43me, oh, The Jets should play Martinez.
- 19:46Are you kidding me? I mean, I do not want to see
- 19:48Martinez play their third string quarterback, but the fact is the
- 19:54New York Jets had a chance to win their first game of the
- 19:57season and came up short against Baker Mayfield and the
- 20:00Buccaneers. Yes, they lost Mike Evans early
- 20:04in the fourth quarter. Would that have made a
- 20:05difference? Not really.
- 20:07I don't think it would have made a a huge difference.
- 20:09I think The Jets played the perfect defensive side of game
- 20:13in the fourth quarter. And I'll tell you this about The
- 20:15Jets now that I didn't see from the other Jets.
- 20:18They didn't quit. They didn't quit.
- 20:21This isn't the Robert Solid Jets.
- 20:24This isn't the Todd Bowles Jets. This is a different Jet team.
- 20:29You can see the enthusiasm the New York Jets, the young players
- 20:34have on the sidelines, even losing the game.
- 20:36Aaron Glenn clapping off the field when he's running to shake
- 20:40Todd Bowles his hands. I, I mean, as we all know and
- 20:44we've heard Aaron Glenn say there's no second place winners.
- 20:48He he says it's there's no moral win if you lose, but he was
- 20:54excited by The Jets athletic gift that they have and Will
- 20:58McDonald and he has a gift. We'll see how this ends up and
- 21:02we'll see if Will McDonald stays healthy and he has over 10 sacks
- 21:06this year. This guy's going to get paid.
- 21:08He's going to get paid a lot of money because this guy is just a
- 21:12special player. You can see it how gifted this
- 21:15kick could be for the New York Jets.
- 21:17But here's the problem with the New York Jets.
- 21:19What I've seen in the first three weeks, the defensive line,
- 21:23he added, Phillips, he had all these guys in the offseason
- 21:26before the season started. You have the guys like Quinton
- 21:29Williams, you have gifted guys, Jermaine Johnson, a first round
- 21:33talent. You have how many first round
- 21:35picks on that line? And for some reason throughout
- 21:40the game, this defense just doesn't show up.
- 21:43They don't make the big play. And that secondary has been
- 21:46absolutely horrible. Source Garner, who got paid a
- 21:50lot of money, is not looking like a #1 corner.
- 21:53I don't care. I don't want to care or I don't
- 21:55care what people are saying on PFF and what his ratings are on
- 21:58PFFI don't care. I really don't.
- 22:02Because the fact is in the big part of the game, when you're
- 22:05defending a Mecca Buca, OK, and he's special.
- 22:09He's going to be a good wide receiver.
- 22:10He's going to be a good optional piece when Mike Evans decides
- 22:14to, you know, tail away in his career and retire.
- 22:18This guy's going to be a special player.
- 22:20They found a good one. But to say that this guy is
- 22:25going to outplay one of the top three corners in the league and
- 22:29outrun him and out route him, that was embarrassing.
- 22:32It was embarrassing for source Gardner and this guy.
- 22:36The the defense that they have Stevens has been horrible.
- 22:39Michael Carter got paid a lot of money.
- 22:40He's been horrible. The secondary, as far as the
- 22:43safety play, has been horrible. Baker Mayfield looked like he
- 22:49could do whatever he wanted in certain parts of the game.
- 22:51His numbers didn't stand out. He didn't have ridiculous
- 22:54numbers in the game, but when he needed to make a play, he made
- 22:57the play. And I'm sorry for Jets fans out
- 23:01there to think, hey, you know what?
- 23:03We stayed. We stayed in the game.
- 23:05We came back in the fourth quarter.
- 23:06To me, there's no moral victories for the New York Jets.
- 23:10They lost and I'm going to say something to Baker.
- 23:14I love Baker Mayfield. He's my favorite player.
- 23:17Love him. Absolutely adore the man.
- 23:20Everybody knows I root him all you.
- 23:21Got a jersey yet? I have his jersey.
- 23:24I wear, I've worn his jersey on the show.
- 23:26I love Baker, love him. I love everything about.
- 23:28It did you get that uni's jersey, the that uni, because
- 23:32that uni's fired. I didn't get it in white, I got
- 23:35it in the orange. I'll put it on one of our
- 23:37breaks. I'll wear it for everybody to
- 23:39see. But I love Baker Mayfield.
- 23:41She's one of my favorite players.
- 23:43When everybody asked me why am I an Eagles fan, well I rooted for
- 23:47Donovan McNabb because the New York NY Jets always sucked.
- 23:51So it the Eagles always made the playoffs but choked except one
- 23:54year when they took Terrell Owens and McNabb all the way to
- 23:57the Super Bowl and lost against, yes, Tom Brady and you know
- 24:01Billy Bell as we all know what happened and and Andy Reid as
- 24:05the head coach for the Eagles whole nother story on that one.
- 24:08But Baker Mayfield, the guy that I root for.
- 24:11But after the game, I respect everything about him, his
- 24:15enthusiasm, his support of his players.
- 24:18When you go up and you speak to the media and I understand you
- 24:22don't like Steve Wilkes, you don't.
- 24:24And, and that's fine, A lot of people don't like Steve Wilkes.
- 24:26He's not a likable person. But to come out and and take a
- 24:31shot at the the fact that he's the defensive coordinator, The
- 24:36Jets choked at the end of the game and it was a victory for
- 24:40him. He was so excited.
- 24:41Out of all the victories so far, they're three and O.
- 24:44And he said this was the happiest he's been all season
- 24:46long, knocking off Steve Wilkes in the New York Jets.
- 24:49This isn't The Jets fault that Steve Wilkes didn't like you
- 24:53over there in Carolina. That's not The Jets fault that
- 24:56you that you guys, you and Steve Wilkes didn't get along over
- 24:59there and why you weren't a Carolina Panther, why they
- 25:02decided to go with Sam Darnold and you.
- 25:05I remember that. That's not that's not The Jets
- 25:08fault and Baker going out there and it just being who Baker
- 25:13Mayfield is. He speaks his piece.
- 25:15I love that about him. But to do it the way he did it,
- 25:19I just think he should have held back.
- 25:21Maybe do another interview at a podcast and say what he felt to
- 25:24go to the media after the game and and take a shot at the New
- 25:27York Jets and pretty much saying that The Jets choked and and I
- 25:31took the ball down the field and and the New York Jets are are a
- 25:34joke of an organization. He pretty much he didn't stayed
- 25:36in those words, but he in in many ways, he he put it that
- 25:40way, he put it that way, he put it that way.
- 25:44And it it's not The Jets fault that him and Steve Wilkes didn't
- 25:48get along. So I didn't like that by Baker,
- 25:50but nevertheless, Baker Mayfield had a lot to cheer about.
- 25:53This is a good team. The Buccaneers are a very good
- 25:57team, a Super Bowl contender. If Mike Evans comes back and
- 26:00he's healthy and they still have what's his name going to come
- 26:03back, Godwin, Godwin's going to come back.
- 26:06When Godwin comes back and you have a Buca, I mean, and you
- 26:10have the running game that you have with Bucky Irving.
- 26:13I mean, this team is how. Long How long was Mike Evans
- 26:16hurt last year? It was he was on and off, about
- 26:20a month on and off. Came back earlier than expected.
- 26:23It was supposed to be longer. And Godwin was hurt up and down
- 26:26last year too. He came back and then he hurt
- 26:27himself after a long injury the the year before.
- 26:31I think you heard his something with his leg so and now Godwin's
- 26:35out till probably Week 6. So when Godwin comes back, how
- 26:40good could this offense it be offense be with the defense, the
- 26:43way they play, they play very aggressive at the front and
- 26:47they're even more aggressive when it comes to their their
- 26:50corner play. They love to blitz the corners.
- 26:52You see the difference what Todd Bowles likes to do.
- 26:55He's a blitz savvy type of coach.
- 26:57You you see it. And I remember him with the New
- 27:00York Jets. He loved the blitz.
- 27:01So I mean, this is a good Buccaneers team.
- 27:04I can't take that away from them.
- 27:06It's just it's the New York Jets.
- 27:08This is a young team. They're going to make mistakes.
- 27:11The offensive line, besides a couple of the sacks, the bad
- 27:15sacks that I had in the first half, this offensive line held
- 27:18up. This is a good offensive line.
- 27:20I mean, Membu look good for Shadow look good.
- 27:24They're they have a good future when it comes to the offensive
- 27:26line. It's crazy to say that for years
- 27:29that Jets have been trying to build this line and they
- 27:31couldn't put it together with Joe Douglas, who's really an
- 27:34offensive line alignment. It didn't work with him.
- 27:37You bring in a new GM and then they did.
- 27:40Joe Douglas did draft for Shadow, but then he brings in
- 27:43Mambu and Mambu's been on as far as PFF is concerned, one of the
- 27:47top right tackles in the NFL for the last three weeks.
- 27:50So I mean, The Jets have something there, but the defense
- 27:55I the problem here is what the defense is.
- 27:57Steve Wilkes came to this team, Aaron Glenn came to this team.
- 28:01And I just don't think a lot of these defensive players fit the
- 28:05the way they want to run their defense.
- 28:07I, and I'm going to tell you this in the offseason, I'm going
- 28:10to tell you that Jermaine Johnson will not be here because
- 28:13he doesn't fit the way The Jets want to run that defense and
- 28:17will McDonald's is definitely going to be used in many
- 28:19different ways. I could see that you put on some
- 28:22weight. You could see what he can do
- 28:23athletically. Quinton Williams is a question.
- 28:26It's a question mark. He looked good in the first week
- 28:29and a half. And I say week and a half
- 28:31because last week in the second-half he did not look
- 28:33good. And if Quinton Williams doesn't
- 28:36show up quarter by quarter and play as hard as he could play
- 28:41and be one of the best defensive lineman in the league as we
- 28:43expect him to be because he's getting paid like one, well,
- 28:46then The Jets don't really have a good defense because the
- 28:49secretary is horrible. It is horrible.
- 28:52Everybody could throw against this team.
- 28:54As a matter of fact, I The Jets have not giving up less than 27
- 28:58points in a game this year, haven't it?
- 29:00I mean, if you look in game number one, they gave up over
- 29:0330. Game #2 what did they give up
- 29:06over 30? And now they gave up 27.
- 29:09They're they're giving teams 30 or more points to win games.
- 29:14You can't win like that when you're the New York Jets, when
- 29:16you have Justin Fields as your starting quarterback, a running
- 29:20mobile quarterback, you're not winning like that.
- 29:23And that's the problem right now.
- 29:25This is not Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets, and it didn't even
- 29:28matter if it was Aaron Rodgers. I don't think The Jets are
- 29:31winning. If you're giving teams 30 points
- 29:33or more, you're not. This was in This wasn't an
- 29:36embarrassment, but the first half was just as embarrassing is
- 29:40the first two games and especially letting the
- 29:43Pittsburgh Steelers come back. The Jets really should be 1 and
- 29:462 going into next week against Miami, where they could be two
- 29:50and two, but instead they're owing 3.
- 29:53And if they lose next week, as we know, O and three teams do
- 29:57not make the playoffs. It's very rare.
- 29:59O and four teams likely never make the playoffs.
- 30:03I think there's only two O and four teams that have ever made
- 30:05the playoffs. So The Jets, and I'm not saying
- 30:08The Jets were making the playoffs.
- 30:09I'm just saying that if any Jet fan thought that this team was
- 30:13going to be a playoff contender, now you can kiss that goodbye
- 30:16after next week if they can't beat Miami in Miami.
- 30:20But the fact is this is a jet team that's going to have to
- 30:24figure things out in the offseason.
- 30:26Breece Hall is not the guy. He's not.
- 30:30And I love Breece. He he had a good first game.
- 30:33But ever since the first game, Breece Hall has been not good.
- 30:35Teams have figured him out. And and here's another thing,
- 30:38Braylon Allen, who I thought was going to be a good option for
- 30:41the number one running back in the future for this team, I
- 30:45don't know if he is, he's been looking like a #2 then a number
- 30:48one. He's gotten chances and chances
- 30:51to touch the ball at least 16 to 20 times every single game and
- 30:55he hasn't put up the numbers we expected him to put up.
- 30:58This is not a good offense. And Garrett Wilson, he's getting
- 31:03his see, he's getting his looks. He's getting his 10 catches for
- 31:0684 yards and a touchdown. If that's your option and you
- 31:09have no other option offensively, how are you
- 31:12expected to win? Your defense is going to have to
- 31:15black field goals or black kicks and punts for this team to be in
- 31:21position that they can run the ball in or maybe Justin Fields
- 31:24can run the ball in. Because to be honest, right now
- 31:28with Justin Fields not playing, they don't have that second tier
- 31:31option when it comes to scoring because it's not going to be
- 31:33Bruce Hall. It's not Braille and Allen.
- 31:35We, I, I see the, the tight ends that we have, they're good, but
- 31:39they're not great. And I don't, I don't expect
- 31:41Taylor to pick up his game and the pace of his game until
- 31:45probably either next year or the year after because tight ends,
- 31:48it takes three years for him for them to develop.
- 31:51So I don't think they have a second option.
- 31:53So if teams figure it out, and I'm telling you what the Broncos
- 31:56are going to do, they're going to stick Patrick Sur Tan in two
- 32:00weeks from now on. Garrett Wilson shut Garrett
- 32:03Wilson down and there's going to be no optional offensive players
- 32:07unless Justin Fields plays and runs all over them or Priest
- 32:10Hall shows up because we've seen what he's done when he stays
- 32:13healthy. As a matter of fact, one year he
- 32:15went down season ending surgery against the Denver Broncos.
- 32:20So it to me, Bruce Hall is going to have to show up.
- 32:24This running game is going to have to show up.
- 32:26And, and again, my problem right now with the New York Jets isn't
- 32:29the fact that they're trying. They they look like they're
- 32:32they're playing for the coach. The problem is they don't have
- 32:35enough to win when they come down to the nitty and the gritty
- 32:38when it comes to these games. And you can see it.
- 32:40Baker Mayfield new with one minute and 50 seconds or 45
- 32:44seconds left with two timeouts. He's going to be able to take
- 32:47the ball down so they can kick a field goal and they did it with
- 32:50E ease. They did it with ease.
- 32:53Sauce Garner was overpaid in the offseason.
- 32:55I'm sorry, Jet fans. Until he shows up in one game
- 32:59when he dominates, to me, he's one of the most overpriced
- 33:03corners in the NFL. Yeah, I thought.
- 33:05What do you but sorry Speedy, but what do you think is what?
- 33:08What could push him over the edge?
- 33:10Speedy, you can. You can jump in on this.
- 33:11Well, I think I. Win those like teeter totter
- 33:13games. Yeah.
- 33:14I think a lot of it, I think with the secondary in particular
- 33:17is a mixture of these fusion of schemes that's going on.
- 33:19Aaron Glenn defense in Detroit and even in New Orleans was a
- 33:23little bit different than Steve Wilkes's defense in San
- 33:26Francisco and in Carolina. I think there's a clash of
- 33:29schemes that are just aren't meshing to the, I guess the
- 33:32fusion of the hybrid concepts that are going on.
- 33:35And I think it's affecting a lot of those star players in the
- 33:38secondary now. Last year I I saw I gave a
- 33:41little bit of a pass to because I thought it was an effort
- 33:42issue. Like, all right, nobody wants to
- 33:44play for Bambi Sala and ever, ever was turning on him.
- 33:47But you're seeing those kinds of mistakes still this year too,
- 33:49where he's getting beat. Hey, Buka is great, but
- 33:51throughout the year he's getting beat by receivers that he should
- 33:54not be getting beaten by. And I think some of that has to
- 33:57do with him just not knowing what to do awareness wise right
- 34:00now. Michael Carter's had the same
- 34:02kind of problems. I never thought Brandon Stevens
- 34:03was that good. I'm not even trusting no matter
- 34:04what scheme he's going to be in, that it was going to be a big
- 34:06issue for them. But I think right now you're
- 34:09stealing it being an issue where you don't have the pass rush you
- 34:11did last year. Schematically speaking, I think
- 34:14they have to figure things out and maybe 1 scheme has to cater
- 34:17to the other. Errol talked about it all the
- 34:19time with Tom Brady when he got the to Tampa Tom Brady.
- 34:22Once Bruce Arians got there, they clashed in the beginning
- 34:25and then they played more of a Patriot style offense.
- 34:27Maybe they need to do that same kind of thing with this defense
- 34:29to play more to Steve Wilkes comfort level because he was
- 34:32closer to Bambi Sala's defense. So where do you think they with
- 34:38getting these games to get to the next level of the?
- 34:40Do you think it's it starts in the secondary?
- 34:42Do you think it starts with coaching and putting them in the
- 34:44right schemes, in the right position?
- 34:45To win, you know, it's so interesting because I don't know
- 34:48if it's schemes. I just don't know if they have
- 34:50the players. They don't have the roster
- 34:53personnel. Yeah, the personnel is not there
- 34:55for the New York Jets. They don't have Steve Wilkes's
- 34:57defense. Is is really, you need those
- 35:00athletically gifted players, especially on the corner side
- 35:04where you can bring up the corner play.
- 35:06You can blitz the corners in the safeties.
- 35:08They don't have that. And I thought that they would
- 35:10have had a little bit more depth at the safety position this
- 35:12year. They drafted a safety.
- 35:14Why aren't they playing him? They drafted a corner, Why
- 35:17aren't they playing him? I mean, a lot of this doesn't
- 35:19make sense. I understand they're not ready
- 35:21for the NFL. Maybe that's what it is.
- 35:23But here's the thing, are they that much worse than the players
- 35:27that they have on this roster right now that are starting?
- 35:29I don't know. I think you give them a chance.
- 35:31You see what the the talent that you have with the youth that you
- 35:34have on this roster, you're not winning this year.
- 35:36It's pretty obvious right now that The Jets are not going to
- 35:40be more than A5 or at best A6 win team.
- 35:44They're going to be right now in the top ten in the draft.
- 35:46They're going to be looking for a quarterback in next year's
- 35:49class. That's what's going to happen.
- 35:51That's what The Jets are. They're not a good team.
- 35:54They have they have pieces, they have pieces they can build on.
- 35:57I, I, I'll tell you this. It took Todd Bowles a while to
- 36:02get this team playing at his game and, and the way he wanted
- 36:05them to play. I think this team is more than
- 36:08ready to go and try to win a Super Bowl with Todd Bowles, his
- 36:11head coach, not Bruce Arians, not Tom Brady.
- 36:13You have Baker Mayfield, you have a defense, you have an
- 36:15offensive line, you have a running game.
- 36:17I think that the Jet, when you look at The Jets, if The Jets
- 36:20want to mimic a team and look at what a team should be, you got
- 36:24to look at the Buccaneers. They're as good as anybody right
- 36:27now in the NFL, defense to offense.
- 36:30They built around an offensive line, offensive line with one of
- 36:33the best offensive tackles in football.
- 36:35They just have two of them. They have they built around a
- 36:38running game with Bucky Irvin and and the talent that they
- 36:40have at the running, running position.
- 36:42They've got two of them, hopefully maybe one of them.
- 36:45And then you have the wide receivers, you have Garrett
- 36:47Wilson, you have Mike Evans. They need that secondary option,
- 36:50that wide receiver that's going to help Garrett Wilson where
- 36:52it's going to take pressure off of Garrett Wilson.
- 36:54The double teams, the triple teams in the open field with
- 36:57safeties coming under him. That's the thing.
- 36:59And I think that's the problem with The Jets.
- 37:01There is no secondary option. And if Justin Fields doesn't
- 37:04play, as much as I like a guy like Tyrod Taylor, The Jets
- 37:09aren't going to win. You see it when when Justin
- 37:12Fields was at the top of his game against Pittsburgh, he's
- 37:14ran in a touchdown. He dominated the line of
- 37:17scrimmage. You can use his legs and his
- 37:19ability to strengthen his ability to step in and outside
- 37:22of the pocket and run the ball. They don't have that.
- 37:25As good as Tyrod Taylor is as a backup quarterback, he is not
- 37:28Justin Fields. Now, and I think the way you
- 37:30brought up with the Buccaneers, too, is something that you've
- 37:32definitely seen good organizations do when they've
- 37:34come to accumulating talent. And we talked about that with
- 37:37the Eagles, especially in the trenches, the offensive, the
- 37:38defensive line and Tampa had three starters on the offensive
- 37:41line hurt, including Tristan Wharfs in that game.
- 37:44They lost Cody Mock for the season.
- 37:45I think they had one another guy out and they were still able to
- 37:47win the line of scrimmage against The Jets, who have a
- 37:49good on paper, you would think defensive line and same kind of
- 37:52thing with The Jets offense too. Like where are you going to get
- 37:54that secondary option outside of Garrett Wilson, where Garrett
- 37:57Wilson had a great game, but a lot of that was in the
- 37:59second-half when the Bucks were trying to play a little softer.
- 38:01And also, where are you going to get that level of production?
- 38:04Either from the running back position receiving or from the?
- 38:08Balcony first thought in the second-half they were going to
- 38:10run away with the shore. They they really believe that
- 38:12jets were done. Todd Bowles was interviewed
- 38:14before going into the third quarter and he says we got to
- 38:17put the pedal to the metal. We got to put our foots on their
- 38:20necks. They didn't do that.
- 38:21They came out flat. And The Jets.
- 38:23To what you said, what you said earlier there to Errol is like,
- 38:27OK, yeah, you said there's not, you know, the the consolation
- 38:31prize. But you did say one thing that
- 38:33that kind of sparked some interest too, is last year you
- 38:37said that team would have gave up.
- 38:38They didn't give up. Like you said, they came out and
- 38:40they thought they were going to run over.
- 38:41And because that's the team that they're used to, you know,
- 38:44seeing and they've they've seen previously.
- 38:46So I, I guess when you put it that way, it's, I guess is there
- 38:50a little consolation win to know that they're, I mean, they're
- 38:53close, but you know, obviously it's sometimes it's, you'd
- 38:56rather get blown out than feeling like you're that close
- 38:59and and just don't execute some few things that get it.
- 39:02But it, you see it more so as a jets fan too.
- 39:06I see it more so as like as the football fan, when you're
- 39:09watching a game where you could see it getting out of hand and,
- 39:12and it didn't and they didn't give up.
- 39:14It was to the last two seconds. So I mean, it's it's one of
- 39:16those games, but to a consolation, I guess to to a non
- 39:20Jets fan that hasn't suffered for 15 years suffered for.
- 39:25Some good things. Since the day I was born, I
- 39:27suffered. I became a Jet fan when I was in
- 39:30when I was in first grade, I was, I was six years old.
- 39:33I got a jersey number 14. No, it's not Sam Donald.
- 39:36It was, well, it is Sam Donald's number.
- 39:38But when I was six years old, I got a Jets jersey number 14 and
- 39:41I fell in love with the jersey. I fell in love with green, green
- 39:44and white. That's everybody asked me why
- 39:46did I become a Jet fan? Because the first jersey I ever
- 39:48had was green and white. It was a New York Jets 14 #14
- 39:52jersey. That's what it was.
- 39:53It wasn't a Giants jersey. Maybe I'm a Giants fan.
- 39:56It wasn't a Green Bay Packer. Maybe I'm a Green Bay Packer.
- 39:58Do you remember who with 14 was? I don't remember whose jersey it
- 40:02was, I just remember it was #14 there's pictures of me wearing
- 40:05it. I loved it.
- 40:06I fell asleep with it. I was a die hard Jet fan after
- 40:09that. I loved the green and white.
- 40:10Now, it doesn't mean why I'm an Eagles fan, why I root on the
- 40:14Eagles. It's not because of the green
- 40:16and white Eagle fans. I just love Donovan McNabb.
- 40:19It just so happens it was a green and white jersey.
- 40:22So my, my thought here with the, the fact of the New York Jets is
- 40:28there is no consolation prize. There is none.
- 40:31And I, I don't know why any Jet fans think.
- 40:34And I, I listen to what a lot of people were saying on social
- 40:37media. I listen to what some of these
- 40:39sports shows were saying, even though I, I'm not really tied in
- 40:42to hear what other, you know, shows are going to give me for
- 40:45this show. I don't listen and I don't give
- 40:47them my feedback. My feedback here is there is no
- 40:51consolation for the New York Jets.
- 40:52They lost the game. They're all in free.
- 40:56They look like they're going to have another losing season.
- 40:58They need another quarterback. They need a quarterback they can
- 41:01build under Aaron Glenn's regime.
- 41:03Is Steve Wilkes the guy? Only time will tell.
- 41:07Should Aaron Glenn call the defensive calls moving forward?
- 41:10I think he should. I think he's the, to me, one of
- 41:13the more underrated defensive coordinators last year should
- 41:16have been assistant coach of the year.
- 41:18What the Lions did defensively all season, especially losing
- 41:22all their defensive players early in the season.
- 41:24They lost Aiden Hutchinson, what two games into the season, their
- 41:28best defensive player and Aaron Glenn had one of the best
- 41:31seasons a defensive coordinator could have with nothing.
- 41:36So yes, I think that he should be calling a defensive play
- 41:39calling, not Steve Wilkes. The fact that Steve Wilson,
- 41:42Baker Mayfield don't like each other, not surprised, not
- 41:46surprised at all for Jets fans out there sitting here and and
- 41:50being happy that The Jets, hey, they gave it a challenge.
- 41:54They gave it a a go on Sunday. Here's what the go means.
- 41:58Nothing a big lousy 0 if you're a Jets fan.
- 42:02Because what we're seeing now is they're not 3 and O, they're O
- 42:07and three. That's what they are, ladies and
- 42:10gentlemen. And going in to Miami week #4
- 42:14against a hungry Miami team that almost beat the Buffalo Bills on
- 42:17Thursday Night Football. This might not be a big game for
- 42:21the New York Jets. As a matter of fact, it might
- 42:23save Mike Mcdaniel's job, who everybody keeps saying is on the
- 42:27very big and dark and hairy hot seat over there in Miami.
- 42:32So I don't know, I just it's not a good sign for The Jets.
- 42:36Thank you to all the fans on Apple and Spotify.
- 42:39I'm very upset right now. Apple and spot.
- 42:41What the hell kind of kicks that Apple and Spotify video and
- 42:45audio. Thank you to all the fans on
- 42:46TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter X whatever YouTube drop
- 42:51in the mouth worldwide sports radio network.
- 42:54Yeah, it was a great 1A speedy. Who do we have on the show?
- 42:57Yes, we all know Jack. Oh yeah, crybaby himself.
- 43:00I guess that loves to rile Arrow off Pittsburgh Steelers crybaby
- 43:04himself. And now that Aaron Rodgers is
- 43:07there, probably will be accelerating.
- 43:09At first he went from Russell Wilson absolute love fest to
- 43:13Justin Fields love fest and crybaby antics to now Aaron
- 43:17Rodgers. I'm going to play with myself.
- 43:19Anyways. Jack will be joining us on
- 43:21Wednesday. That'll be interesting.
- 43:23I can't wait to hear the garbage that comes out of his mouth.
- 43:26Anyways, he has that voice, you know, like he goes like, you
- 43:31know, it's just like flows, you know, it's like weird, but
- 43:35flows. I love you, Jack.
- 43:37Anyways, that's it for the show. Yeah, we'll have Jack on
- 43:40Wednesday. We have goodies.
- 43:41Bag of balls. You know, hopefully it's not
- 43:44Bill Belichick's beanbag, but or sandbag.
- 43:47I could be sanding off on every kind of way, if you know what I
- 43:50mean. Melt that one, Jabba.
- 43:52ANYWAYS, good night. Farewell.
- 43:55I'm still Worldwide Sports Radio Network.
- 43:59Go suck on an egg and and.
