- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The
- 0:06Speaker 1: rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You love sandwiches. Huh, let's go to eighty. He was
- 0:14Speaker 1: bo wow that Prime Time. Maybe I had a crush
- 0:18Speaker 1: on Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 2: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 1: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 1: the game. You're listening just to godsen Company.
- 0:32Speaker 2: It is to Gods and Company, presented by Vandul on
- 0:34Speaker 2: the Vandal sportsbook. Field Yates is with us right now.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I am very excited. The draft is getting closer and closer.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I can't wait.
- 0:43Speaker 2: It's the Jets Super Bowl every single year, and that they.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Always lose it somehow.
- 0:50Speaker 2: So let's start right there. Whose career are the Jets
- 0:53Speaker 2: going to ruin this time?
- 0:54Speaker 1: Field God?
- 0:55Speaker 3: When you put it that way, I'm just gonna make
- 0:57Speaker 3: up a mythical prospect and say him at number two
- 1:00Speaker 3: and see if people believe it. All right, let's see
- 1:03Speaker 3: if we can spin this positively. Okay, well, good luck
- 1:07Speaker 3: the Jets. I know I'm doing my best here. Over
- 1:10Speaker 3: this draft and next, the Jets currently own nine picks
- 1:14Speaker 3: in the first two rounds. Yes, I think you go
- 1:17Speaker 3: into a draft and you say to yourself, no matter
- 1:20Speaker 3: what the year is, but some years more than others,
- 1:23Speaker 3: there should be about sixty players per draft that are
- 1:27Speaker 3: viewed as starters from the moment they enter the NFL.
- 1:31Speaker 3: So there's a chance that over the next two years
- 1:33Speaker 3: the Jets acquire close to forty percent of their starting
- 1:37Speaker 3: roster through the draft, right nine picks in the first
- 1:40Speaker 3: two rounds. On top of that, the Jets have three
- 1:43Speaker 3: first round picks next year. And I know that people
- 1:45Speaker 3: get sick of hearing this draft analysts talk about how
- 1:48Speaker 3: next year's draft looks amazing. Next year's draft does look unbelievable.
- 1:54Speaker 3: It's not a mystery. Like it's not a mystery why
- 1:56Speaker 3: the Jets asked for the Cowboys pick the second round
- 2:00Speaker 3: pick this year and the first round pick next year
- 2:02Speaker 3: from Dallas for in the Quentinn Williams deal next year's draft.
- 2:06Speaker 3: And I'm not just talking about quarterbacks, but quarterbacks definitely,
- 2:10Speaker 3: But there are just some ridiculous non quarterbacks in next
- 2:13Speaker 3: year's draft class. Jeremiah Smith in Ohio State is probably
- 2:16Speaker 3: the player that a year out is considered the front
- 2:18Speaker 3: runner as like the best non quarterback in the class.
- 2:22Speaker 3: But Colin Simmons a pass rusher from Texas amongst many
- 2:25Speaker 3: many other awesome players. So if there's ever a time
- 2:28Speaker 3: to have three first round picks, it is twenty twenty seven.
- 2:30Speaker 3: And what I think it allows the Jets to do,
- 2:33Speaker 3: I'm trying hard to be very serious here is I
- 2:35Speaker 3: do think it allows the Jets this year to say, hey,
- 2:37Speaker 3: if we truly whether this is a good plan or not,
- 2:41Speaker 3: but if we truly want Gino Smith to be our
- 2:43Speaker 3: starting quarterback for this season, we can bypass a quarterback
- 2:47Speaker 3: in this year's class in the first round or two rounds. Really,
- 2:52Speaker 3: you take a guy, you know, if you take a
- 2:53Speaker 3: quarterback in the third round, fourth round, no one is
- 2:55Speaker 3: saying that guy is the answer for you long term.
- 2:58Speaker 3: He has a chance to become that. But we see
- 3:00Speaker 3: third and fourth round quarterbacks flame out all the time,
- 3:03Speaker 3: or just the quarter backups at worst.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So the Jets do see.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Your point field. We do see third and fourth round
- 3:09Speaker 2: picks succeed in the NFL.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yes, there's minimal risk to drafting a quarterback in the
- 3:15Speaker 3: third or fourth front because if they hit, everybody applauds you.
- 3:17Speaker 3: If they just become career backups, it's like that's the
- 3:19Speaker 3: reason why they went in the third or fourth round
- 3:21Speaker 3: in the first place. Yes, so the Jets do have
- 3:23Speaker 3: a chance to reshape their roster and their franchise over
- 3:27Speaker 3: these next two years. And yeah, history would suggest, especially
- 3:32Speaker 3: recent history, that it's you know, the Jets are going
- 3:34Speaker 3: to have some errors along the way. It's hard to
- 3:36Speaker 3: go nine for nine on any draft picks. I'm trying
- 3:39Speaker 3: to I'm trying to make you feel good, though. Here's
- 3:40Speaker 3: too I feel on the show. Yea, And yeah, this
- 3:45Speaker 3: is I think that not like the Jets have told
- 3:47Speaker 3: me this, but I think the the the methodology right
- 3:51Speaker 3: now within the Jets front office is our master plan
- 3:54Speaker 3: is nine picks. That's our master plan.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:56Speaker 3: We are now without Quinn Williams and Sauce Gardner, and
- 4:00Speaker 3: obviously those are two of the best players on the
- 4:02Speaker 3: roster at the time, but you maybe got you extracted
- 4:05Speaker 3: better value for those players if you nail those draft picks,
- 4:09Speaker 3: then keeping those players and eventually getting towards the back
- 4:13Speaker 3: end of their prime before your team is sort of
- 4:16Speaker 3: fully clicking. So there is I think some calculus behind
- 4:21Speaker 3: what the Jets have been doing and what they will
- 4:23Speaker 3: execute over the next two years.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And you agree with.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It if indeed that is the strategy, it's a strategy
- 4:29Speaker 2: that you agree with for I agree that.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Not only do I agree with it and aggregate, but
- 4:33Speaker 3: like looking at each of those trades, my first thought
- 4:36Speaker 3: when I saw the reports come out on especially the
- 4:39Speaker 3: sauce Gardener trade, was like, that's incredible value for the Jets.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It's truly exceptional. At the time, the sauce Gardener trade
- 4:46Speaker 3: was made when Indy was humming, but I still thought
- 4:49Speaker 3: it was a good trade. They went on to lose
- 4:51Speaker 3: I think it was like six of their last seven
- 4:53Speaker 3: or seven trade games to end the season, and the
- 4:57Speaker 3: Jets now own a mid first round pick for Indianapolis
- 5:00Speaker 3: and the pick they have next year from Dallas.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Uh.
- 5:03Speaker 3: This is not quite full like NBA lottery style, but
- 5:06Speaker 3: it's the what it's the better of the two I
- 5:09Speaker 3: believe goes to the Jets, the better of the Packers
- 5:11Speaker 3: and the Cowboys goes to the Jets. So the Jets
- 5:13Speaker 3: have some optionality as well with next year's pick. If
- 5:16Speaker 3: the Packers get Micah Parsons back early and they're awesome.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Then the Jets bringing to the Cowboys pick. If the
- 5:22Speaker 3: Cowboys have a great offseason and they hum next year,
- 5:26Speaker 3: the Packers are more middle of the pack, the Jets
- 5:29Speaker 3: get that pick. So to me, it's it's a reasonable
- 5:32Speaker 3: it's a good strategy, not just in sort of the
- 5:35Speaker 3: aggregate in the sum, but I thought each of the
- 5:37Speaker 3: moves individually was logical. By the Jets.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Thank you for seeing me here on the zoom field,
- 5:41Speaker 4: and then throwing in the NBA lottery reference just to
- 5:44Speaker 4: get the appreciate it.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Do you have any lottery reform fix? I I listened
- 5:49Speaker 3: to many NBA podcasts, and there was a stretch, I
- 5:52Speaker 3: don't know, two straight weeks were each and every one
- 5:55Speaker 3: of them dissected lottery reform thoughts. And I don't know
- 5:59Speaker 3: that we get any closer to the target because when
- 6:01Speaker 3: the NBA floated their three proposals a week or so ago,
- 6:06Speaker 3: I thought to myself, all of these are ridiculous and
- 6:07Speaker 3: they're way too complicated.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, the easiest one that they offered that
- 6:11Speaker 4: I liked was the one with the making throwing all
- 6:14Speaker 4: the playing teams uh into the lottery and then sort
- 6:17Speaker 4: of evening out the the odds, So it doesn't it
- 6:21Speaker 4: doesn't necessarily favor that.
- 6:22Speaker 1: See, Stud's mad.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Stud's mad that you none me, Taylor smiling because how
- 6:26Speaker 2: the fuck did he suck you into an MBA conversation.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I could feel your eyes burning through me as I'm
- 6:33Speaker 1: answering the question. I'm like Israel questions.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I mean it's also I'm a sneaky NBA fan. I
- 6:41Speaker 3: actually I am looking for a forum to share my
- 6:42Speaker 3: NBA thoughts. So thank you to Izzy for actually allow me.
- 6:45Speaker 4: He said for him, all right, so what are your
- 6:47Speaker 4: quick thoughts in the Oklahoma City Thunder as a favorite
- 6:50Speaker 4: as a I don't know.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Here's what I say, Like they are, I would just here's
- 6:54Speaker 3: where I do land on them, because they are the favorites.
- 6:57Speaker 3: They are.
- 6:57Speaker 1: They are question answered.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Field if you want to ask him basketball questions, have.
- 7:04Speaker 3: That and I don't get here, we go U the
- 7:09Speaker 3: Thunder or they are the dessert favorites. I would just
- 7:15Speaker 3: say as an impartial viewer, they I don't particularly enjoy
- 7:19Speaker 3: their like the style of play relative to other teams
- 7:23Speaker 3: that are good in the NBA. Maybe it's the shiny
- 7:25Speaker 3: objects syndrome. But like when I watch the Spurs and
- 7:28Speaker 3: maybe it's the victor wembognam of it all. That's a
- 7:30Speaker 3: way more entertaining brand of basketball for me to watch
- 7:33Speaker 3: right now than the Thunder, which feels more like a
- 7:36Speaker 3: rock fight. And and to their credit, they have maximized it.
- 7:41Speaker 3: And Shay is probably gonna win his second straight m
- 7:43Speaker 3: v p H. But if the if the NBA Finals
- 7:47Speaker 3: are the Thunder versus the Pistons or the Celtics or
- 7:49Speaker 3: the next whatever it might be, Yeah, there's gonna be
- 7:52Speaker 3: a part of me that's like the the the alternative
- 7:54Speaker 3: door of the Spurs versus one of those Eastern Conference
- 7:57Speaker 3: scenes that I mentioned would have been more compelling to
- 8:00Speaker 3: I think the impartial viewer.
- 8:02Speaker 4: It's crazy how the tables have turned, because the Spurs
- 8:05Speaker 4: used to be the boring ass team that nobody to
- 8:07Speaker 4: see in the fight.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Everybody wants to see him, all right, so you've learned,
- 8:10Speaker 1: all right? I mean Jesus go ahead.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Or as Taylor would say, they lead the league. The
- 8:14Speaker 4: Thunder lead the league in what was it ezz plus?
- 8:17Speaker 1: Yes there it is.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm stealing that, Taylor.
- 8:22Speaker 2: You could have it it's all yours, bud, so feel
- 8:26Speaker 2: it full disclosure.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Like I every time I see Jeff Hafley on a
- 8:29Speaker 4: TV doing an interview, I make sure I don't listen
- 8:32Speaker 4: because I don't. I just don't want to hear anything
- 8:34Speaker 4: that he has to say about right now?
- 8:36Speaker 1: Right are they?
- 8:38Speaker 4: How well are they positioning themselves for this draft of
- 8:42Speaker 4: next year that you talk about, because the march for arch,
- 8:45Speaker 4: like I wanted to start right now, let's just go
- 8:48Speaker 4: oh and whatever, and you know, next year, let's wake
- 8:50Speaker 4: me up and I'll start watching the Dolphins again.
- 8:53Speaker 3: So a couple of things. I'm a big, big believer,
- 8:56Speaker 3: and it requires the right owner, because owners, I think,
- 8:59Speaker 3: especially in the NFL, are impatient and they have rabbit ears.
- 9:03Speaker 3: They hear everything that people like us are saying about
- 9:05Speaker 3: their franchises, and they make impulsive decisions, and they pull
- 9:08Speaker 3: the plug on team building plans sometimes or oftentimes too soon.
- 9:14Speaker 3: So far under new leadership, the Dolphins have done have
- 9:17Speaker 3: accomplished two really important things. One, they've done a good
- 9:22Speaker 3: self scouting. The rostar was going nowhere, nowhere, like the
- 9:25Speaker 3: players that were on that roster that were the best,
- 9:28Speaker 3: most meaningful contributors would not influence winning enough for it
- 9:33Speaker 3: to matter during the length of their current contract. Jalen
- 9:37Speaker 3: Waddle is probably the most notable. He's a great player, obviously,
- 9:40Speaker 3: but by the time that the Dolphins were back to
- 9:43Speaker 3: where they want to be, Jalen is either A going
- 9:46Speaker 3: to be either having a contract expired or expireing, or
- 9:51Speaker 3: B say, hey, I'm happy to extend, but I now
- 9:54Speaker 3: no longer want to make twenty seven million dollars a year.
- 9:56Speaker 3: I want to make forty one million dollars a year,
- 9:58Speaker 3: and it's going to become more defensive. So A, they've
- 10:01Speaker 3: done a really good job of identifying, like, we're just
- 10:03Speaker 3: not good. Let's take our medicine this year and think
- 10:05Speaker 3: about twenty twenty seven and beyond. And B they've been
- 10:08Speaker 3: honest about it. I heard John Eric Salivan the New
- 10:11Speaker 3: GM describe it. I think it was to I'm almost
- 10:13Speaker 3: positive it was to Mike Floria and Chris Sims on
- 10:15Speaker 3: Pro Football talk about how like he sort of went
- 10:18Speaker 3: through the Jalen wild trade and it was just he
- 10:20Speaker 3: kind of hit on some of the notes that I
- 10:22Speaker 3: mentioned that, like, you know, this is a guy who's
- 10:24Speaker 3: a great player but making a certain amount of money
- 10:27Speaker 3: at a certain age by the time his deal comes up, like,
- 10:31Speaker 3: we may not be ready to carry a forty two
- 10:34Speaker 3: million dollar wide receiver ultimately, and yeah, I get at
- 10:38Speaker 3: the Seahawks just won Super Bowl with a dominant defense. First. Ultimately,
- 10:42Speaker 3: the best chance to sustain winning in the NFL is
- 10:44Speaker 3: to find a good quarterback. That's just there's no two
- 10:47Speaker 3: ways about it. We're talking about you know, we've talked
- 10:49Speaker 3: about the Chiefs as the best team of the NFL
- 10:52Speaker 3: for the past decade because of Patrick Mahomes and Josh
- 10:54Speaker 3: Allen gives the Bills a chance, and Lamar Jackson gives
- 10:56Speaker 3: a Ravens a chance, and Joe Burrow gives the the
- 10:59Speaker 3: Bengals a chance. Now Drake may gives Patriots a chance.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Because this guy's are great quarterbacks. So Miami is saying
- 11:04Speaker 3: we can take all of them met in the medicine.
- 11:06Speaker 3: This year probably be bad. We got to nail they
- 11:09Speaker 3: have seven picks on the top one hundred of this
- 11:10Speaker 3: year's draft. Gott to nail the draft, and then next
- 11:13Speaker 3: year we can start to piece together more talents. Make
- 11:19Speaker 3: a decision more thoughtful decision on Malik Willis, who's going
- 11:22Speaker 3: to be the starting quarterback for at least this year
- 11:24Speaker 3: and then build this back up. And if you're Miami,
- 11:26Speaker 3: why bother playing the short game. You've got Josh Allen
- 11:29Speaker 3: who probably has at least a half decade left a
- 11:31Speaker 3: really good play, and then Drake May, who might have
- 11:34Speaker 3: ten years left of great play. Look what's the rush
- 11:36Speaker 3: right now? If you're in Miami, I get it. It
- 11:38Speaker 3: sucks and owners, you know, Steve Ross probably hates the
- 11:41Speaker 3: fact that the stadium will be you know whatever. It
- 11:43Speaker 3: might be half empty in December, but okay, great, or
- 11:47Speaker 3: you could you could do what you've been doing recently,
- 11:48Speaker 3: which is be an extremely expensive cash wise and not winning.
- 11:52Speaker 3: So you choose what you will prefer. I'd rather give
- 11:54Speaker 3: myself a chance to win in the long run than to,
- 11:57Speaker 3: you know, just spend a lot of money to go
- 11:59Speaker 3: at nine to eight and then lose to the Chiefs
- 12:01Speaker 3: in the first round of the playoffs.
- 12:03Speaker 1: It's not the company you want, is he?
- 12:04Speaker 2: But it seems like the Jets and the Dolphins have
- 12:06Speaker 2: to do the same thing, just the same vision, same
- 12:09Speaker 2: problems dealing with Drake May and Josh Allen, and it's
- 12:12Speaker 2: you know, take a long term approach.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Which is not one and in a race to see
- 12:16Speaker 4: who can suck the hardest.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yeah, but it is a good time to do it, right.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Look around the NFL. How many other teams are in
- 12:23Speaker 3: that boat? Yes, And I know that a year from
- 12:27Speaker 3: now we might be saying, oh, well, this class didn't
- 12:29Speaker 3: work out like we thought it would, Right. I'm just
- 12:31Speaker 3: telling you, like and talking to people who work for
- 12:34Speaker 3: NFL teams whose job is to measure, Hey, the draft
- 12:38Speaker 3: this year versus next year versus potentially two years from now,
- 12:41Speaker 3: we hear this much more. And end the NBA where
- 12:43Speaker 3: everybody is saying part of the reason why they're tanking
- 12:45Speaker 3: this year is because next year and the year after
- 12:48Speaker 3: his draft look pretty unfavorable at this point. But people
- 12:52Speaker 3: who are paid to forecast what the draft will look like,
- 12:55Speaker 3: not for ESPN or for your favorite whatever your favorite
- 12:58Speaker 3: draft website is or network is, but for NFL teams
- 13:03Speaker 3: right are saying next year's class looks like an absolute doozy.
- 13:07Speaker 3: And if you're the Jets and the Dolphins and you're
- 13:08Speaker 3: giving yourself a chance to be in pole position to
- 13:11Speaker 3: have a top five or ten pick, yeah, it's gonna
- 13:14Speaker 3: suck during the year this year, But you think the
- 13:16Speaker 3: Raiders regret not winning a couple of games down the stretch,
- 13:20Speaker 3: of course not. There's thrilled that they have the chance
- 13:22Speaker 3: to take Fernanda Mendoza number one. Overall.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Yeah, listen, you're right. There are a bunch of teams
- 13:27Speaker 2: or are in the same boat. The problem is, occasionally
- 13:30Speaker 2: those teams jump out of the boat and they go see,
- 13:32Speaker 2: you know, in nice Island somewhere. Perhaps they find themselves
- 13:35Speaker 2: in the super Bowl.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Maybe the playoffs. I don't know. The Jets are the
- 13:39Speaker 1: fucking boat and that's the problem, you know.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Well, but there's examples, like I'll give you a recent
- 13:43Speaker 3: example of a team and they're fine now because they
- 13:45Speaker 3: got a quarterback a year later. But like the Giants
- 13:48Speaker 3: a couple of seasons ago, the year they ended up
- 13:50Speaker 3: with the sixth pick, which was Malik Naples, who was
- 13:52Speaker 3: a great player. Remember like that was the class that
- 13:55Speaker 3: had Kaili Williams, Jaden Daniels and Drake may and the
- 13:58Speaker 3: Giants were trying, like crazy move up. Well I don't
- 14:00Speaker 3: know about like crazy, but they were trying to move
- 14:02Speaker 3: up to get Drake Maye. We saw it on hard knocks.
- 14:04Speaker 3: The offer they made was certainly not a serious enough
- 14:07Speaker 3: one for the Patriots to make the deal. But that
- 14:10Speaker 3: was like a couple of games, one or two games
- 14:13Speaker 3: at the end of that season. That was the difference
- 14:15Speaker 3: between the Giants right now having a quarterback from that
- 14:20Speaker 3: twenty twenty four class versus not now Jackson Dart's gonna
- 14:23Speaker 3: be really good player. So I think all things have
- 14:26Speaker 3: ended up really well for the Giants. But that is
- 14:30Speaker 3: the I think with teams that are kind of planning ahead,
- 14:34Speaker 3: are thinking about is that like, is is it fun?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Like it might help a job, might help the coach
- 14:40Speaker 3: in a press conference in December to not have to
- 14:42Speaker 3: answer questions about seeking Is there really that much of
- 14:45Speaker 3: a difference in the grand scheme winning two extra games
- 14:49Speaker 3: to go five and twelve? That's not good?
- 14:51Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 14:52Speaker 2: His latest mock draft is out right now on ESPN
- 14:55Speaker 2: dot com First Draft. The podcast is also new episodes
- 14:58Speaker 2: out right now. Greenberg, how was mel by the way?
- 15:01Speaker 1: How's he doing? You know?
- 15:03Speaker 3: Nell actually called me yesterday and I said, Hey, what
- 15:06Speaker 3: what do you have tomorrow? I said, oh, you know,
- 15:07Speaker 3: I'm going on with Stu Gotts and he goes, oh Lovets.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Come after that first sound? Nothing makes me happier.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I think about Mel's mail has got very specific taste
- 15:20Speaker 3: to you guys know that like Mel loves what he
- 15:21Speaker 3: loves right pie famously and uh, you know his orange
- 15:25Speaker 3: crushes as well, his favorite his favorite summer cocktail and
- 15:32Speaker 3: he loves I think I think what he meant was
- 15:35Speaker 3: the entire family, you know on Stu Gotts uh here.
- 15:39Speaker 3: So I think that he he really was referring to
- 15:41Speaker 3: all four people on.
- 15:42Speaker 2: This zoom right now, not just me and Mikey he
- 15:45Speaker 2: loves the most that he does.
- 15:47Speaker 1: He does love Mikey.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, what what change from your last mock.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Draft to this mock draft?
- 15:54Speaker 3: Tell what I haven't had? Last year? I felt like
- 15:56Speaker 3: there were some bigger swings in in uh pred mock drafts.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I think part of that, let's just be entirely candid,
- 16:03Speaker 3: is is shod Or Sanders. Last year, right, there was
- 16:06Speaker 3: a time where it felt like he could go as
- 16:07Speaker 3: highs too, and then he ends up going one forty four,
- 16:10Speaker 3: so off by only one hundred and forty slots there.
- 16:14Speaker 3: But even like, and I'm sure there were some people
- 16:18Speaker 3: that were like, I don't know that he'll go top
- 16:20Speaker 3: thirty two, but it wasn't like I saw many people
- 16:22Speaker 3: that were like or maybe any people that were saying, yeah,
- 16:25Speaker 3: day three for shud or Sanders. Ty Simpson is the
- 16:29Speaker 3: player that has seems like the most interest of where
- 16:34Speaker 3: he goes. I did not do a mock draft in
- 16:39Speaker 3: which I had Tie in like the top twenty. I
- 16:42Speaker 3: don't think that's also because I don't have to do
- 16:45Speaker 3: a mock draft until like r right after the season
- 16:47Speaker 3: is over, when Tie struggles started to pick up. But
- 16:51Speaker 3: you know, Tie probably was. He wasn't a crazy thought
- 16:54Speaker 3: as like the fifth pick in the draft at some
- 16:56Speaker 3: point during the college football season. Now it's all right,
- 17:00Speaker 3: like does Tie even go in the first round? He's
- 17:02Speaker 3: the player that's going to define the night. I believe
- 17:05Speaker 3: for obvious reasons. He's a quarterback, and there are teams that,
- 17:08Speaker 3: of course are in that quarterback market. It's it's hard
- 17:11Speaker 3: to get an answer because you know, one of the
- 17:14Speaker 3: realities of the draft and talking to people around the
- 17:16Speaker 3: NFL is that you know, people that don't need a
- 17:19Speaker 3: quarterback are going to be pretty honest about the quarterback
- 17:23Speaker 3: of valuations. Teams that do need a quarterback are going
- 17:27Speaker 3: to be honest about the quarterback of valuations. But they're
- 17:30Speaker 3: also going to acknowledge that even if, like we're not
- 17:32Speaker 3: totally sold on this player at this position, you can't
- 17:36Speaker 3: risk it. So yeah, it may sound good to say like, well,
- 17:39Speaker 3: we've got tie ranked as a late first and we
- 17:41Speaker 3: think most people around the NFL do as well, so
- 17:43Speaker 3: maybe we we'll wait until the beginning of the second round.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Just takes one team, one team would jump ahead of you,
- 17:48Speaker 3: and one team to make you regret trying to be patient.
- 17:52Speaker 3: The Giants kind of beautifully navigated this last year with
- 17:55Speaker 3: Jackson Dart. They had their cake and ate it too
- 17:57Speaker 3: with Abdul Carter at three and then Jackson Dart at
- 17:59Speaker 3: twenty twenty four twenty five. That's hard to bank on
- 18:04Speaker 3: every single year. I give the Giants credit for the
- 18:06Speaker 3: way they went about it or why they executed it
- 18:08Speaker 3: last year, but there might be a team that's saying
- 18:11Speaker 3: to themselves like, can we pull the Giants of twenty
- 18:13Speaker 3: twenty five and twenty twenty six, And there might be
- 18:16Speaker 3: somebody else that's says, we like Tigh enough that we're
- 18:19Speaker 3: just going to take them field.
- 18:21Speaker 5: How do you feel about people who do mock drafts
- 18:23Speaker 5: and then in their mock drafts. They have projected trades
- 18:26Speaker 5: in them.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Wait you know Field has that.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Yeah, every once in a while, throw a trade in there.
- 18:31Speaker 1: How do you feel about yourself?
- 18:32Speaker 3: I mean yeah, yeah, well guys, I can do it
- 18:36Speaker 3: out the trade Taylor feels like.
- 18:39Speaker 1: It's a bit much. I mean, there's no way to
- 18:41Speaker 1: predicted trade. But if he predicts it exactly right, Wow,
- 18:44Speaker 1: god yeah, double, that's right. Yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 3: I will tell everybody and their mom about it. So
- 18:50Speaker 3: I do think that, like it's important for me. I've
- 18:52Speaker 3: seen some some and this is what happens when you
- 18:54Speaker 3: go on on Twitter. It's you know, off oftentimes burning
- 18:57Speaker 3: brain cells, but people getting frustrated. Too many mock drafts,
- 19:01Speaker 3: unrealistic mock drafts. They're entertainment, aren't they? Like the mock
- 19:06Speaker 3: drafts are not going to influence like the the the
- 19:08Speaker 3: Jets at too, are not going to make a pick
- 19:10Speaker 3: because the way that mel kiper Junior or whoever it
- 19:13Speaker 3: is that you love most in the draft industry forecasting
- 19:16Speaker 3: it right, They're going to make the pick they think
- 19:17Speaker 3: is the best pick. That's what I mean.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Mel had number one overall last year.
- 19:21Speaker 3: I go, right, So like these things, like you know,
- 19:23Speaker 3: they're going to do what they want to do. It's
- 19:26Speaker 3: for entertainment purposes. And in other sports, like I will
- 19:29Speaker 3: read a mock draft, uh, I mean even for the NFL.
- 19:32Speaker 3: In a lot of cases, I would read mock drafts.
- 19:34Speaker 3: The other thing I would say is, and this is
- 19:36Speaker 3: my opinion, And there might be people who have the
- 19:39Speaker 3: same rule that I do at ESPN or otherwise that
- 19:41Speaker 3: feel very differently on this. I do take you know,
- 19:45Speaker 3: you take some level of pride in trying to be
- 19:48Speaker 3: as predictive as possible with mocks. It just takes one
- 19:53Speaker 3: thing to happen early in the mock for everything that
- 19:55Speaker 3: you think is reasonable to go. I think we have
- 19:59Speaker 3: made started to Yeah, I think you sort of maybe
- 20:02Speaker 3: to gravitate a little bit too much towards trying to
- 20:04Speaker 3: get every pick right. Yes, and more like I think
- 20:08Speaker 3: to me, I've always felt like where I would let's
- 20:10Speaker 3: take the most pride is that I don't know who
- 20:12Speaker 3: the Jets are gonna take it too. I think it
- 20:14Speaker 3: will be RVL Reese or David Bailey.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I think.
- 20:16Speaker 3: But if I predict David Bailey and then I have
- 20:19Speaker 3: Rvel Reese going to the Cardinals and then the Jets
- 20:23Speaker 3: d up taking Rvel Reees. But the Cardinals don't like
- 20:25Speaker 3: David Bailey, then the mock draft's gonna like fall apart
- 20:27Speaker 3: right there, right, yes, right where I find my job
- 20:31Speaker 3: to at least more fulfilling. Is Hey, the Jets submit
- 20:34Speaker 3: the card they take Rvel rees Field. What are your
- 20:36Speaker 3: thoughts on Rvel Reves fitting with the Jets? Bam, we
- 20:39Speaker 3: fire away. Hey, the Cardinals at number three, they decided
- 20:42Speaker 3: to take Jeremiah love Field. What do you think about
- 20:44Speaker 3: this pick? Bam, we go from there. But instead it's
- 20:47Speaker 3: we get so excited about like, well, you know, se
- 20:49Speaker 3: Gott's nailed fifteen of his thirty two first round picks.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Like I would tell you candidly, is that like there
- 20:55Speaker 3: were picks that I got right in the first round
- 20:58Speaker 3: last year that we're just guesses, right, you're just forecasting, right,
- 21:01Speaker 3: Like I can't tell you that, Like my twenty fifth
- 21:03Speaker 3: overall selection in last year's draft, whoever that was, was
- 21:06Speaker 3: because I had deeply sourced information that the Houston Texans
- 21:10Speaker 3: were plenty to this.
- 21:11Speaker 1: No, it's just players, man.
- 21:14Speaker 3: The Texans probably need a pass rusher. I'm just making
- 21:17Speaker 3: this up. A pass rusher, and I gave them a
- 21:19Speaker 3: pass rusher who I thought would go around that range
- 21:21Speaker 3: and hopefully you get fortunate more often than not. But
- 21:24Speaker 3: so Taylor, I'm okay with the trades, and I'm also
- 21:27Speaker 3: okay with like mock trash being wrong, Like, you know,
- 21:30Speaker 3: am I trying to provide you insight or am I
- 21:33Speaker 3: trying to, you know, predict the unpredictable, because I think.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Like I want to see where my team's going exactly
- 21:41Speaker 1: what I'm doing. He's players.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Yeah, he's not trying to predict what team is going
- 21:46Speaker 2: to take what player.
- 21:47Speaker 1: He's just ranking the players, right, No, I get it, yes, no,
- 21:51Speaker 1: But I don't think the audience does.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I think they actually know field are trying to predict
- 21:54Speaker 2: the entire draft.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I don't way.
- 21:55Speaker 3: I think there are people that, like, I mean, listen,
- 21:58Speaker 3: I'm not I'm not blaming anybody for doing this, but like,
- 22:01Speaker 3: there are you know a lot of sites that are
- 22:02Speaker 3: like tracking mock drafts and by all means track my
- 22:05Speaker 3: mock drafts like this year, like and if I have
- 22:07Speaker 3: the most accurate mock draft, if you think I'm above
- 22:11Speaker 3: telling the world that I was the most accurate monck
- 22:13Speaker 3: draft that you're at if you're goddamn mind. But my
- 22:16Speaker 3: hope is that where we really shine is Hey, Jeremiah
- 22:20Speaker 3: Love goes seven to the Commanders. I just had them
- 22:23Speaker 3: going third of the Cardinals. This is already inaccurate, but
- 22:25Speaker 3: here's what I think about it and why I like it.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Or hey, Caleb down has just made it at the
- 22:30Speaker 3: Cowboys at twelve. That to me is the best pick
- 22:32Speaker 3: in the first twelve so far.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Stick outs here.

- 24:19Speaker 5: I didn't realize you were this big of an NBA fan,
- 24:22Speaker 5: and now that is he's here too. We had Mark
- 24:25Speaker 5: hakman On and I had an idea to save the
- 24:28Speaker 5: NBA and fixed tanking.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Oh Jay, it's called bank the tank.
- 24:34Speaker 5: So in this scenario, let's go back to twenty twenty four,
- 24:38Speaker 5: the Hawks get the number one pick. It's Zachary Richoche. Yes,
- 24:44Speaker 5: they say, we don't want this. We forfeit our pick
- 24:46Speaker 5: for the year. We're banking the tank. They get a
- 24:49Speaker 5: briefcase that says bank the tank on it. Next year,
- 24:52Speaker 5: the MAVs are picking one. The pick is in the
- 24:55Speaker 5: commissioner's going up to the stage, but the Hawks come
- 24:59Speaker 5: running down with their briefcase. They're cashing in their bank
- 25:02Speaker 5: the tank.
- 25:03Speaker 1: They have a tank in the bank. Yes, was this was.
- 25:05Speaker 3: This Paul of s triple h currently year. That sounds
- 25:11Speaker 3: very money in the bank. He takes swings man like
- 25:15Speaker 3: eight days away or whatever it is. We're fifteen days
- 25:17Speaker 3: awa from WrestleMania.
- 25:18Speaker 1: This could be.
- 25:20Speaker 3: I can't I've lost track. April is a great month
- 25:22Speaker 3: for just like sports entertainment in general. Playoffs obviously, the
- 25:25Speaker 3: draft masters I like it. I would just say no.
- 25:29Speaker 4: This is you have so many follow up questions you
- 25:32Speaker 4: just don't want to ask.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Listen, you ten duys of a guy you don't like
- 25:36Speaker 1: the it's a bad idea. Let's just be honest with me,
- 25:39Speaker 1: all right.
- 25:39Speaker 3: So I do believe this. I do believe that there
- 25:43Speaker 3: is somewhat of the perfect storm taking place right now.
- 25:47Speaker 3: It's we've had some We've had the introduction of this
- 25:51Speaker 3: dramatic sorry here we go down the NBA rabbit hole
- 25:54Speaker 3: once again. We had the introduction of this dramatic sweeping
- 25:57Speaker 3: changes within the CBA right the aprils and all the
- 26:01Speaker 3: rules that come on, the restrictions that come along with
- 26:03Speaker 3: the aprons. Teams are still figuring out how to operate
- 26:07Speaker 3: within the aprons. We also have what feels like this
- 26:10Speaker 3: potentially you know, league altering draft with somewhere between six
- 26:15Speaker 3: and eight great players, like guys that would not be
- 26:18Speaker 3: consolation prizes that might go top three in other drafts.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Over and yeah you think.
- 26:23Speaker 3: So, yeah, I continue, Yeah, we have some guys at
- 26:28Speaker 3: the top though, like you know, Aj and Darren definitely
- 26:30Speaker 3: you know, have the chance to really, you know, change
- 26:32Speaker 3: your franchise quickly. We also have the backdrop of like
- 26:35Speaker 3: back to back crappy drafts coming around the corner again
- 26:38Speaker 3: listening to people that do this for a living. This
- 26:41Speaker 3: is what they say, is that, like the next couple
- 26:43Speaker 3: of years are going to be pretty lean. So you
- 26:45Speaker 3: might see over the next couple of seasons NBA teams
- 26:48Speaker 3: saying all right, you know, like the Wizards have made
- 26:50Speaker 3: it clear, this is our last crack at this, the
- 26:52Speaker 3: Jazz have made it clear, this is our last crack
- 26:54Speaker 3: at this. Like there are other teams that I think
- 26:57Speaker 3: will view themselves, you know, obviously the Pacers or take
- 27:00Speaker 3: a gap year with with Tyree's Caliburton, Like, there are
- 27:02Speaker 3: teams that are just doing this very much. By twenty
- 27:05Speaker 3: twenty five to twenty twenty six, design and next year,
- 27:08Speaker 3: the number of teams that are just completely uninterested in
- 27:11Speaker 3: playing basketball is going to be way way lower. Like
- 27:15Speaker 3: I just the Kings, probably the Kings and the Bulls, right,
- 27:19Speaker 3: like the games the Bulls. Yeah, it's it's it's a
- 27:22Speaker 3: slim it's a slim list, man. Those Kings really need
- 27:25Speaker 3: it though, So I do think that, like, yes, it's
- 27:28Speaker 3: been it's it's like ridiculous. I was looking at the
- 27:31Speaker 3: lines for some of the games tonight. It's like there's
- 27:34Speaker 3: like lines nearing twenty points. I think the favored by
- 27:38Speaker 3: eighteen over the Bucks eighteen and a half or something like.
- 27:41Speaker 3: That's again at the you know, Yannis, but like, what
- 27:44Speaker 3: a ridiculous thing. And but I also think that a
- 27:48Speaker 3: year from now we're gonna get the it's the perfect storm.
- 27:52Speaker 3: And some of the measures that I've heard and some
- 27:54Speaker 3: of the proposals, even from the NBA, sound to me
- 27:57Speaker 3: as a fan, a little bit outlandish. I would By
- 28:00Speaker 3: the way, I just want to say this, I would
- 28:01Speaker 3: love nothing more than feedback on this podcast to be
- 28:05Speaker 3: exclusively about my basketball takes and mostly being like those
- 28:10Speaker 3: were awful, stick to footballball whatever, like decent, you know,
- 28:14Speaker 3: not the worst, not the best. But if people respond
- 28:17Speaker 3: and they're like that was dog crap basketball thoughts, I
- 28:19Speaker 3: will consider that a success.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Now feel the NBA Draft lane is wide open.
- 28:23Speaker 2: No offense to those who are doing it now both
- 28:26Speaker 2: it's my podcast.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I own all of it, and I'm giving it zero stars.
- 28:30Speaker 1: This is awful. Go ahead, Taylor.
- 28:32Speaker 5: So I forgot a key note in bank the Tank.
- 28:37Speaker 1: No, we're back, We're back.
- 28:40Speaker 5: Every win you get is a chance out of Bank
- 28:43Speaker 5: the Tank blocker.
- 28:46Speaker 1: So if they hadn't even heard.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Yes, if the MAVs do a good a good enough
- 28:51Speaker 5: job winning during the season and they still get the
- 28:53Speaker 5: number one pick, they might have cured enough lottery chances
- 28:58Speaker 5: to block the tank almost.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Like a like a like a a card that you draw. Okay,
- 29:05Speaker 3: so yeah, bank the tank might be a one. I
- 29:09Speaker 3: do like to make the tank a little bit, but
- 29:11Speaker 3: you know, the like the more tentacles to it to me,
- 29:14Speaker 3: generally makes the idea less plausible. Like I want a
- 29:17Speaker 3: straightforward tanker, a tank reform. I want like, hey, whatever,
- 29:23Speaker 3: flat and lottery odds. That's it. You don't make the
- 29:26Speaker 3: playoffs flat lottery odds.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Everybody gets Where does the briefcase come in in your scenario?
- 29:29Speaker 1: Though? You too? Mean Jesus Christ? So how for Field?
- 29:34Speaker 5: A win for him is if people say his NBA
- 29:38Speaker 5: opinions are bad. A win for me is if Field
- 29:40Speaker 5: could go back on ESPN and just pitch to somebody
- 29:44Speaker 5: bank the tank.
- 29:45Speaker 2: It's a bad idea.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I would have done that for you.
- 29:51Speaker 4: I would have done that at the end of around
- 29:52Speaker 4: the horn for you.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Times timelines are different. Absolutely, you did do it.
- 29:58Speaker 2: I mean, bring about the thought of dread just like
- 30:00Speaker 2: I did.
- 30:01Speaker 3: I said this I think already. I can't remember if
- 30:04Speaker 3: we were recording or not. But Kuiper Yeah, dropped a
- 30:07Speaker 3: selling voc reference on the middle of NFL Draft Daily
- 30:11Speaker 3: on Thursday.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Oh show forget.
- 30:13Speaker 3: I want to talk about tank, you know, Bank the tank, right, yeah,
- 30:16Speaker 3: I'll talk about Bank the tank.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but bring up a good idea.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Well, he did say something earlier that I haven't stopped
- 30:23Speaker 4: stopped thinking about. Field used the word doozy, and I couldn't.
- 30:27Speaker 4: I was just where does that word come from? And
- 30:29Speaker 4: apparently it's just it's a very disappointing answer. The most
- 30:31Speaker 4: accepted theory is that daisy used to be to described,
- 30:34Speaker 4: used to be used to describe something excellent, and it
- 30:37Speaker 4: was just altered over time.
- 30:38Speaker 1: I guess by lazy mouths or whatnot.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Oh really, I I actually don't even know, like when
- 30:44Speaker 3: I first heard the word doozy or why I've incorporated
- 30:47Speaker 3: into my vocabulary.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I probably is.
- 30:49Speaker 4: One theory which should interest our Italian friend here, Taylor.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Another theory suggested comes from the name of famed Italian
- 30:55Speaker 4: actress Eleanora Duce, whose performances were deemed exceptional.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Taylor ring a Bell never heard of him, of Coursepond
- 31:07Speaker 3: it no longer no longer pies on.
- 31:10Speaker 2: If I may just three quick questions before I get
- 31:12Speaker 2: you out of here, Max Crosby, will he still be
- 31:14Speaker 2: a Raider by the time we get to the draft
- 31:16Speaker 2: or by the time we get to.
- 31:17Speaker 1: The regular season?
- 31:18Speaker 3: It's your podcast now, I think I think Max is
- 31:20Speaker 3: a grazier Raider for twenty twenty six. I think the best,
- 31:22Speaker 3: by the way, best possible outcome for him and the
- 31:25Speaker 3: Raiders is play this season, play great, and then have
- 31:29Speaker 3: the leverage to either say, we still have one of
- 31:31Speaker 3: the best players in the NFL on our defense and
- 31:33Speaker 3: we're getting closer to winning. Keep him for twenty twenty
- 31:36Speaker 3: seven and beyond, or hey, he has shown that not
- 31:39Speaker 3: only is he still a great player, but he's healthy.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Anti up because desperation starts at the top of the
- 31:45Speaker 3: off season and then it starts to kind of teams
- 31:49Speaker 3: do things in free agency in the draft, and they
- 31:51Speaker 3: talk themselves into being closer and closer to you know,
- 31:55Speaker 3: sort of responsible and their goals and their off season
- 31:59Speaker 3: plans and they ah, you know, but well, you know,
- 32:02Speaker 3: the cap and assets and stuff like that. Get me
- 32:06Speaker 3: back to like, give me to late February of twenty
- 32:09Speaker 3: twenty seven, and there are gonna be some desperate teams,
- 32:12Speaker 3: teams that once again came up short, and there's a
- 32:15Speaker 3: lot One of the cool things we have right now
- 32:17Speaker 3: in the NFL is that because there are a lot
- 32:19Speaker 3: of great quarterbacks and a lot of really good teams
- 32:22Speaker 3: with solid quarterbacks, a lot of teams go into this
- 32:25Speaker 3: year thinking they like they should win. Like if if
- 32:28Speaker 3: you're a Bills or a Ravens fan, or right Patriots
- 32:32Speaker 3: fan or a Bengals fan, you go through the that's
- 32:36Speaker 3: just like four teams in the AFC North and East alone,
- 32:40Speaker 3: like if they don't win the championship next year, they're
- 32:41Speaker 3: gonna be like, that was a disappointing season, right, that's
- 32:43Speaker 3: the level they have reached with because of their quarterbacks
- 32:46Speaker 3: in those cases, and the more swings and misses you have,
- 32:51Speaker 3: the more likely you are to do something desperate.
- 32:54Speaker 2: The Raiders signing of Kirk Cousins is that the perfect
- 32:57Speaker 2: guy to kind of showman those of the ropes here
- 32:59Speaker 2: because he's in the Business Hall of Fame.
- 33:01Speaker 3: That guy, I mean just first ballot, like the actually
- 33:04Speaker 3: the wing, one of the wings of the Hall of
- 33:06Speaker 3: Fame named it is to be serious for a second.
- 33:13Speaker 3: It actually is the perfect perfect person for this.
- 33:16Speaker 1: It really is.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Yes, I think it's perfect. One of the quarterback room
- 33:20Speaker 3: can be so sacred like that you have to have
- 33:22Speaker 3: the right pieces playing the right roles. And to have
- 33:26Speaker 3: a bridge quarterback, it has to be a player who
- 33:29Speaker 3: is there knowing that his time is borrowed right and
- 33:33Speaker 3: that that time could come to an end. Fernando Mendoza
- 33:36Speaker 3: could be named the starting quarterback August twenty seventh this year,
- 33:39Speaker 3: or it might be the end of September, might be Halloween,
- 33:43Speaker 3: could be the last five games of the season. But
- 33:45Speaker 3: it's going to be when Kirk either starts to struggle
- 33:49Speaker 3: or Fernando is just that damn good. So Kirk gets
- 33:52Speaker 3: what he wants, which is an opportunity to start for
- 33:54Speaker 3: some period of time. He gets another eleven point three
- 33:58Speaker 3: million dollars guaranteed from the Raiders or I guess, and
- 34:02Speaker 3: then eight point seven from the Falcons, but an extra
- 34:04Speaker 3: ten million guaranteed. And he knows Klint Kubiak. And one
- 34:09Speaker 3: of the things about Fernando is at Indiana, and this
- 34:12Speaker 3: he doesn't call the place, but Fernando at Indiana played
- 34:14Speaker 3: an offense that was more basic than what the offense
- 34:18Speaker 3: for the Raiders is going to be. Kirk has played
- 34:21Speaker 3: and Kirk, as you guys all know, like Kirk is
- 34:23Speaker 3: not this superior talent physically, right, Kirk was never the
- 34:27Speaker 3: fastest guy or had the strongest arm. He was the
- 34:29Speaker 3: guy that won. And he talked about this very candidly
- 34:32Speaker 3: on Netflix show the Netflix show Quarterback, where he's like,
- 34:36Speaker 3: I put everything I have into my preparation each week
- 34:40Speaker 3: because I know that, like my superpower is if I
- 34:43Speaker 3: can have a general idea of what's going to happen
- 34:46Speaker 3: once the ball is snapped, I can put the ball
- 34:48Speaker 3: where it needs to be more often than not. And
- 34:51Speaker 3: with Fernando when he played an offense, it was simpler
- 34:53Speaker 3: than what he's going to run. Now, learning from somebody
- 34:56Speaker 3: who is the ultimate processor and Kirk Cousins, who's less
- 34:59Speaker 3: talented then Fernando, I think will be a really really
- 35:02Speaker 3: beneficial thing for him.
- 35:04Speaker 2: What'd you make of the Tim McMann Is Jeremy Fowler
- 35:07Speaker 2: deep dive into the Eagles here and could we possibly
- 35:11Speaker 2: be looking at Jalen Hurts's final season with the Eagles.
- 35:14Speaker 3: I don't dismiss those sort of things, like I don't
- 35:16Speaker 3: have there are there's some people that are like, you know, hey,
- 35:19Speaker 3: this is this is uh, this is people. This is
- 35:22Speaker 3: people with agendas trying to grind axes from inside the
- 35:25Speaker 3: Eagles organization who probably aren't there anymore. That's not how
- 35:29Speaker 3: Jeremy and Tim Roll and Jalen like. I don't think
- 35:34Speaker 3: there's any mystery that like things were not hunky dory
- 35:37Speaker 3: last year compared to a typical post super Bowl season,
- 35:41Speaker 3: right Like, there's usually some grace period where it's, hey,
- 35:45Speaker 3: we may go down, but we're going down swinging, and
- 35:47Speaker 3: we've accomplished a ton together and we've got a chance
- 35:50Speaker 3: to bounce back. It's a grueling exercise to try to
- 35:54Speaker 3: go back to back Philly. It felt like there were
- 35:56Speaker 3: like some discontent individuals by the middle of the season.
- 36:01Speaker 3: AJ Brown clearly discontent. I still lean towards him not
- 36:05Speaker 3: being with Philadelphia then being with Philadelphia this year. I
- 36:08Speaker 3: just I don't have information. I just personally think it's
- 36:11Speaker 3: a j Brown will be a Patriot. It seems like
- 36:13Speaker 3: there's way too much I mean, does it feel that
- 36:15Speaker 3: way the Eagles committing to Aj you know, have.
- 36:21Speaker 2: The Eagles taking a wide receiver in the first round.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Yes, that's right, and then we'll we'll probably learn by
- 36:25Speaker 3: the way, about the Eagles plans for a J Brown
- 36:28Speaker 3: the draft, because they won't trade aj until after June first,
- 36:31Speaker 3: not to get into salary cap weeds, but it makes
- 36:33Speaker 3: more sense then. So if the Eagles draft the wide
- 36:36Speaker 3: receiver at twenty three, they're going to spend a month
- 36:39Speaker 3: after that at answering questions about whether they will trade
- 36:41Speaker 3: AJ Brown or not.
- 36:44Speaker 2: We appreciate the time. Check it out. His mock draft
- 36:47Speaker 2: is available right now on espn dot com First Draft.
- 36:49Speaker 1: The podcast is wonderful.
- 36:51Speaker 2: It's him, Mike Greenberg, and our Fred melkiper Junior.
- 36:54Speaker 1: You are too old to be sitting in an office
- 36:56Speaker 1: like that. I mean, you were too young to be
- 36:58Speaker 1: sitting on office like too old. Dammit, you try to right.
- 37:02Speaker 2: How old do you feel to I mean, I am
- 37:04Speaker 2: thirty eight, Yeah, but you're an old thirty eight My man.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Wow, he knows he is. He doesn't know. It's not
- 37:11Speaker 1: even a wow, he knows he is.
- 37:13Speaker 3: The problem is the problem is I've got young kids
- 37:16Speaker 3: and a dog and this is the only room in
- 37:18Speaker 3: the house. It has two doors that not only shut
- 37:22Speaker 3: but lock.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Yes, Oh wow, you know.
- 37:25Speaker 3: So I've got the capacity here to prevent some sort
- 37:28Speaker 3: of interruption.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Yes, I like that. Feel like if you want to
- 37:31Speaker 1: work on an NBA draft, you and me. You called me,
- 37:34Speaker 1: I've got takes.
- 37:35Speaker 3: I've got takes.
- 37:36Speaker 2: I promise you, Right, Taylor, do me a favorite next
- 37:39Speaker 2: time we have field on to not invite Israel.
