- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, guys, Bill Krackenberger, John Orlando, back over here at
- 0:02Speaker 1: the fabulous World Series of Poker special guest Alan Boston.
- 0:06Speaker 1: You guys have been asking me about these Boston podcasts
- 0:09Speaker 1: for months. You know, we stopped after March Madness. Alan
- 0:12Speaker 1: destroyed March Madness this year, and he won in basketball
- 0:17Speaker 1: this year, of course, so we we brought him in.
- 0:20Speaker 2: He's today the most requested when I read the YouTube comments,
- 0:26Speaker 2: he's the most requested guy. They're always that when the
- 0:30Speaker 2: people are always like Crack more more of you, and
- 0:32Speaker 2: Alan Boston, more of you, and Al'm.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Sure you need this black coffee.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Uh so yeah, So I wanted to bring him in
- 0:41Speaker 1: because he's here for to play in some of the
- 0:43Speaker 1: World Series events but also betting some tennis. So the
- 0:47Speaker 1: Wimbledon's going on now. I know very little about tennis,
- 0:51Speaker 1: so I didn't even know. I just asked him about
- 0:54Speaker 1: the guy named Sinner, like, is he is he the favorite?
- 0:56Speaker 3: Alan? Is he a favorite? Is he the number one
- 0:58Speaker 3: guy right now? Yeah? Yeah?
- 1:00Speaker 4: Yeah, one without hurt. He's absolutely Did Serena win yesterday?
- 1:05Speaker 5: No?
- 1:05Speaker 4: She lost?
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:06Speaker 4: How could you win?
- 1:07Speaker 3: Was she a big betting favorite or not? Really? No?
- 1:09Speaker 4: I don't.
- 1:10Speaker 5: I don't follow women's but she had no chance. Okay,
- 1:12Speaker 5: I think she doesn't play.
- 1:13Speaker 4: She's a hundred years old and she hasn't played in
- 1:15Speaker 4: a while.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Gotcha, gotcha, she's hundred years old. Yeah. I mean so
- 1:21Speaker 3: that that's a thing that we talk about everyone.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Let's skip herhoes. She offends me.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Okay, So who do you like on the on the
- 1:28Speaker 1: men's side? Is there any kind of bets you can recommend? Now,
- 1:31Speaker 1: this won't be out till tomorrow night or any any.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Until tomorrow night. No, because I can only do tomorrow's games.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, okay, but it just tell us. He like, anyway,
- 1:38Speaker 3: what do you? What do you? I?
- 1:40Speaker 5: Before the turn, I thought Yaka Bensak had a very
- 1:42Speaker 5: good chance to win at the French Open. He had
- 1:45Speaker 5: a desperation because he played such long matches. He started
- 1:48Speaker 5: serve volleying to shorten all the points and he did
- 1:51Speaker 5: it very very successfully. Uh, servelling on clay is tricky.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Servelling on grass is the way to go, just because
- 2:00Speaker 5: the way the ball bounces and it's quicker court. Uh,
- 2:04Speaker 5: it's just far more effective on grass. So I thought
- 2:06Speaker 5: he would implement his serve volley. He's got a great
- 2:09Speaker 5: serve and he volleys extremely well. However, I watched his
- 2:12Speaker 5: match yesterday which I laid two forty on, and he
- 2:16Speaker 5: serve volley maybe three times as he didn't come into
- 2:20Speaker 5: the net.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Now he actually the other guy choked.
- 2:22Speaker 3: And he did win.
- 2:24Speaker 5: He has well, he's got a very good draw. But
- 2:28Speaker 5: I wouldn't. I wouldn't. I wouldn't think he uh has
- 2:34Speaker 5: unless he changes his approach.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I think I bet it comes to the net a
- 2:38Speaker 4: little more.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Third one, you said it was a good I.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Thought it was stealing for that reason.
- 2:41Speaker 5: And then he doesn't implement the serve volley, which makes
- 2:44Speaker 5: no sense to me, Like I don't know what his
- 2:45Speaker 5: coach is doing. It's anyway, that was my theory as
- 2:49Speaker 5: to why I liked him. He's a very good player.
- 2:51Speaker 4: He hasn't been very comfortable on grass, but serve volling
- 2:54Speaker 4: negates all that. If he if your serve.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Never gets broken, then you you have a very good
- 2:58Speaker 5: chance to to win just one tie breaks.
- 3:00Speaker 4: So that John isn't a like, uh this a guy
- 3:04Speaker 4: who's impressed me this much. Azuki.
- 3:05Speaker 5: He killed Ethan Quinn today and he's probably played the
- 3:08Speaker 5: highest level of anyone I've seen. He's a veteran Japanese
- 3:13Speaker 5: player who's never ever done a thing on on tour,
- 3:16Speaker 5: but he plays grass in a very high IQ type way,
- 3:21Speaker 5: and that playing with intent on grasses is very effective.
- 3:28Speaker 5: I don't zary Rev is not grass is in his gig.
- 3:31Speaker 5: He was very fortunate that he caught a kid who
- 3:33Speaker 5: hadn't played for six months yesterday, or he might have
- 3:35Speaker 5: lost yesterday. Uh Ray, Rev is serving at a very
- 3:38Speaker 5: high rate, but it's probably not sustainable, so I don't
- 3:40Speaker 5: really think he wins.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Center.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Grass is not his best surface, but he's far and
- 3:46Speaker 5: away the best player. But he struggled against two guys
- 3:48Speaker 5: he should have slaughtered back to back matches, So who
- 3:53Speaker 5: knows with him?
- 3:53Speaker 1: Because giant favorite center last one sixty compared to everyone else.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Yeah, he figures to be a lot.
- 3:59Speaker 5: Of the players are injured. I'll give you the sleeper,
- 4:03Speaker 5: but he happened to win the tournament last week. Is
- 4:05Speaker 5: di Videvic Vakino, who did win junior Wimbledon when he
- 4:07Speaker 5: was a kid and is playing at a very very.
- 4:10Speaker 4: High level, but.
- 4:13Speaker 5: He doesn't have the weapons Center has, and that that
- 4:17Speaker 5: that may doom him when he plays the better players,
- 4:21Speaker 5: but it's it's a fairly weak field this year and
- 4:25Speaker 5: Center it should be a prohibitive favorite. And the one
- 4:27Speaker 5: thing to get Center is he's a bit of a pussy.
- 4:30Speaker 5: His body breaks down readily, and I don't know why. Uh,
- 4:34Speaker 5: that's what happened at the French Open. He's up five
- 4:35Speaker 5: to one in the third set. The other guy could
- 4:37Speaker 5: Billy want a point and his body breaks down. And
- 4:40Speaker 5: it's happened before the Australian Open happened and they they
- 4:44Speaker 5: semi cheated for him. They went on a heat break,
- 4:48Speaker 5: and when the temperature reaches a certain height at the
- 4:52Speaker 5: Australian Open or any tournament, they suspend play, which is fair.
- 4:55Speaker 5: You shouldn't have these guys playing five hour matches one
- 4:57Speaker 5: hundred degree weather.
- 4:58Speaker 4: They'll kill him. But they when they have.
- 5:00Speaker 5: A heat, a heat break or a heat pause, they
- 5:04Speaker 5: do it for every court, except in Center's case, they
- 5:06Speaker 5: only did it on his court and all the rest
- 5:08Speaker 5: of the matches continued. He was down Tosoi, he couldn't walk,
- 5:11Speaker 5: he was done, but he got the break and got
- 5:14Speaker 5: some fluids in him and the cramping stopped and he
- 5:16Speaker 5: went on to win. Uh and on grass, it's far
- 5:20Speaker 5: less taxing, the points are shorter, the surface is far
- 5:23Speaker 5: easier on you, and so he should be the favorite toin.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Okay, any opinion on your first question, hare already? Any
- 5:30Speaker 1: opinion on World Cup? I don't think you can follow it.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Do you ever watch a game? No.
- 5:35Speaker 4: I watched one of while I was playing a tournament
- 5:36Speaker 4: the other day.
- 5:37Speaker 3: John and I are just tried to watch it. It's
- 5:39Speaker 3: just it's really tough. And that was the biggest s Yeah.
- 5:44Speaker 4: I like because I like one nothing baseball games. I
- 5:46Speaker 4: was just gonna say, what is it? Then won the
- 5:48Speaker 4: riveting one nothing game.
- 5:51Speaker 5: What you like, Well, every play could be the winner,
- 5:53Speaker 5: Every rush down the down down the field could be
- 5:56Speaker 5: winning goals. It's I I find nothing better than that.
- 5:59Speaker 5: I eight nine eight games like, I mean, they could
- 6:02Speaker 5: be enjoyable, but like every sport thinks they want high
- 6:05Speaker 5: scoring games and they think that's what resonates with fans,
- 6:07Speaker 5: so they manipulate all the rules and ruin every sport
- 6:10Speaker 5: to create higher scores.
- 6:12Speaker 4: So we're left with some really uh.
- 6:14Speaker 5: I mean, you watch the NBA, it's almost unwatchable. It's
- 6:17Speaker 5: it's they try half the time, they defend half the time,
- 6:20Speaker 5: and they just bomb threes like it's it's College basketball
- 6:24Speaker 5: is ruined with the nil in the ramp and transferring
- 6:28Speaker 5: and now the government's gonna get involved. And when the
- 6:29Speaker 5: government gets involved, everything's fucked up.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Uh So, yeah, why do I still watch Basketball's ruined?
- 6:36Speaker 5: Because because the spirit of the sport is done basketball.
- 6:41Speaker 5: College basketball is you go to college and you play
- 6:44Speaker 5: basketball for the love of the game.
- 6:46Speaker 4: But the number one in theory, the number one reason
- 6:50Speaker 4: to go to.
- 6:50Speaker 5: College is to get an education, not to have a
- 6:52Speaker 5: glorified NBA minor league.
- 6:54Speaker 4: And it's becoming a glorified NBA minor league.
- 6:56Speaker 5: And it's become that because of the billion dollar TV
- 6:59Speaker 5: content fact they signed all those years ago. That's when
- 7:02Speaker 5: all the plotting started. How can we get the money
- 7:04Speaker 5: to the right place. It's almost like a microcross of
- 7:06Speaker 5: our government, which takes our money and and and enriches
- 7:10Speaker 5: themselves and their backers and does shit for us except
- 7:13Speaker 5: steal from us. But college basketball is doing the same thing,
- 7:18Speaker 5: where the power schools will have the bigger TV contracts
- 7:22Speaker 5: are now getting more NIL money from the NCAA. They
- 7:25Speaker 5: actually give certain teams more money than others. Like, how
- 7:27Speaker 5: is that fair and and this rampant transferring and paying
- 7:30Speaker 5: the players means you no longer have a kid. Let's
- 7:34Speaker 5: say I grew up in Boston and I was, you know,
- 7:36Speaker 5: a big shot basketball player, and I want to go
- 7:37Speaker 5: to Boston College or bu or Northeastern or Holy Cross
- 7:40Speaker 5: or some school in that area.
- 7:43Speaker 4: That won't happen anymore.
- 7:44Speaker 5: The kid playing for like the kid, the kid from Duke,
- 7:48Speaker 5: the big wig, the great white hope from Maine. He
- 7:52Speaker 5: wanted to play for Maine. Well, I love the kid
- 7:58Speaker 5: for that, but there's just too much pressure. We moved
- 8:00Speaker 5: away from Maine. He played a year in high school
- 8:02Speaker 5: there and went to some you know, basically high school
- 8:06Speaker 5: that kind of pays you to play there.
- 8:08Speaker 4: And then he went to Duke.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Even though the coach at mainz better than the coach
- 8:11Speaker 5: at Duke, that wouldn't matter. You think you need to
- 8:14Speaker 5: go to these high level schools to play high level
- 8:17Speaker 5: competition to get better. It's total bullshit and not accurate,
- 8:20Speaker 5: but that's what's become. So you'll never see the mid major.
- 8:27Speaker 5: So yeah, so it's only the power schools that are
- 8:29Speaker 5: gonna win from now on the spirit of the NCAA
- 8:32Speaker 5: tournament that I've talked about ad nauseum. Is someone like
- 8:35Speaker 5: the word ad nauseum in the comments? So I threw
- 8:37Speaker 5: it out there again, what do they all talk about?
- 8:41Speaker 5: This is a repeat? But John asked, So I'm answering
- 8:44Speaker 5: is Cinderella. That's what is always talked about at.
- 8:47Speaker 4: The NCAA tournament.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Sure you remember George Mason's run to the final four.
- 8:51Speaker 5: You remember Sister Geane and oil Is run to the
- 8:53Speaker 5: final four. And these are the games that actually have
- 8:56Speaker 5: the highest ratings when you have a first round up, Like,
- 9:00Speaker 5: that's what's all talking about? Me say those days are over? Yeah,
- 9:03Speaker 5: it can't happen. Got and the coach for Utah State,
- 9:07Speaker 5: which is a very very well supported school. They slid
- 9:11Speaker 5: every game. They have a monster home court. It's a
- 9:13Speaker 5: beautiful area. They had a home run yea last year
- 9:17Speaker 5: they were fantastic and they got a nine seed and
- 9:21Speaker 5: he said, if they gave us a nine seed for
- 9:24Speaker 5: the season, we had what am I doing here?
- 9:26Speaker 4: And he moved on.
- 9:28Speaker 5: So all the good coaches are going to the all
- 9:30Speaker 5: the top schools, and all the good players are going
- 9:32Speaker 5: to all the top schools. Even the guy from Northern
- 9:34Speaker 5: Iowa who had been there eighteen years or something and
- 9:36Speaker 5: loved it.
- 9:36Speaker 4: He left, he took the Utah stage job.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Yeah, to me, it's an absolute shit show, and the
- 9:42Speaker 5: purity and the spirit of the sport is.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Completely done all because of money.
- 9:46Speaker 5: And you know you talked about with your prior guest,
- 9:49Speaker 5: why you know you're making two hundred thousand a night
- 9:52Speaker 5: raking a game. Why why do you want more? Well,
- 9:54Speaker 5: it's just greed. Greed gets everything. Our government's greedy, and
- 10:00Speaker 5: the NCAA is greedy. And basically all humans are greedy,
- 10:04Speaker 5: not all, but the majority of the humans are greedy.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Bill Gates like he's the number one scumbag in the world.
- 10:10Speaker 5: He's got all this money. He purports to want to
- 10:13Speaker 5: help the environment, yet everything he promulgates hurts the environment.
- 10:17Speaker 5: If he wanted to help the environment, he should have
- 10:20Speaker 5: bought up the Amazon and stopped all the clearcutting.
- 10:22Speaker 3: What's going on.
- 10:22Speaker 5: There, because global warming happens because we clearcut forced, not
- 10:26Speaker 5: because we have fucking cars that spit out fumes.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Like that's just total bullshit.
- 10:31Speaker 5: So if Bill Gates really wanted to help the world,
- 10:34Speaker 5: he would save the local farmers and he would stop
- 10:39Speaker 5: he would just buy up all the forest there is
- 10:40Speaker 5: and stop the clear cutting. I thought, all he does
- 10:43Speaker 5: is is is give us all all this bullshit and
- 10:47Speaker 5: lies like the COVID vaccine and his green energy shit
- 10:51Speaker 5: that makes him money.
- 10:53Speaker 4: You don't think he has enough money.
- 10:55Speaker 3: I thought that. Now I don't really know politics.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Though, that we should bega. I mean, it's a sports show,
- 10:59Speaker 4: so we could ski. But that's that's it's greed. It's
- 11:01Speaker 4: just greed. And even a guy like Bill Gates is greedy.
- 11:05Speaker 3: He's a poker player, right, he's a poker.
- 11:07Speaker 4: He's the one to tip fifty cents. Ye know what
- 11:09Speaker 4: cocktail waitress. Yes, yeah, the cocktail That is true. I
- 11:15Speaker 4: knew the girl he did it too, really and she
- 11:17Speaker 4: wasn't lying.
- 11:19Speaker 3: You can't believe that is so good, the cocktail waitress.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Fifty cents.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Break this dollar, please break this dollar.
- 11:26Speaker 5: So you're you're a billionaire and you're playing in the
- 11:29Speaker 5: two four limit holding game and enjoying yourself.
- 11:32Speaker 4: And and that was my question, like what would you tip?
- 11:35Speaker 4: I think I came up with one hundred dollars.
- 11:36Speaker 5: One hundred bucks because a thousand is just puts too
- 11:39Speaker 5: much heat on the rest of the players. And makes you,
- 11:42Speaker 5: you know, maybe expose you too much, and maybe a
- 11:43Speaker 5: hundred is too much, but it doesn't mean anything, and
- 11:46Speaker 5: it means a ship ton.
- 11:47Speaker 4: To the person you're giving it to. Yeah, so that's
- 11:49Speaker 4: what I thought was right.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Anyway, I had a comped meal with Bob Aram and uh,
- 11:54Speaker 1: I was waiting for her to put the tip up.
- 11:56Speaker 1: He ordered liver and onions, smelled the whole table up
- 11:58Speaker 1: and would not put the tip up, wouldn't That's great?
- 12:01Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 12:02Speaker 4: And by the way, like if anyone wants to put
- 12:04Speaker 4: another ten thousand.
- 12:05Speaker 6: Up to put a A well intended player who did
- 12:09Speaker 6: a lot of work on it this year and actually
- 12:11Speaker 6: played to a pretty high level.
- 12:12Speaker 5: In fact, I played the Partners tournament. The kid I
- 12:15Speaker 5: played with and I'm not bragging. I'm not saying some
- 12:17Speaker 5: great player. I'm certainly not. Uh, but the kid I
- 12:21Speaker 5: played partners with crushes it in no limit and we
- 12:25Speaker 5: played two years ago. We finished twenty second, I think,
- 12:27Speaker 5: and so we team yeah. Wow, So we redid.
- 12:31Speaker 3: It this year.
- 12:32Speaker 5: And at the end of the first day we were
- 12:34Speaker 5: just swapping off like you know, and sometimes I would
- 12:36Speaker 5: get mad at myself.
- 12:37Speaker 4: I made him.
- 12:38Speaker 5: I didn't raise two sixers on a deuced four nine flop,
- 12:42Speaker 5: which isn't the normal play, but my gut said to
- 12:43Speaker 5: do it. And I realized right after that the guy
- 12:46Speaker 5: had seen that a little lesson he normally has. We
- 12:48Speaker 5: just had two overs, and I could have got off
- 12:49Speaker 5: it by you know, I didn't have to raise much
- 12:50Speaker 5: to get him off of it.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Uh, And I didn't do it.
- 12:54Speaker 5: And I was banging my head against the table, and
- 12:57Speaker 5: I said, you get you come right back here. And
- 12:59Speaker 5: I took like an hour and a half off, came
- 13:01Speaker 5: back and played so well that he said, you play
- 13:04Speaker 5: the last hour because you're playing better than me.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Like, oh wow, yeah, because my mind, I don't know
- 13:08Speaker 4: what's right now.
- 13:09Speaker 3: You guys wanted you last the whole day.
- 13:11Speaker 4: We almost bubbled. Yeah, we got to day two.
- 13:13Speaker 3: We almost bubbled. Jesus.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that's when the art Aaron Levitt, we were complete.
- 13:18Speaker 4: We were completely card dead. We had eight We had.
- 13:21Speaker 1: What is Boston doing here this summer? Is he playing poker?
- 13:24Speaker 3: So?
- 13:25Speaker 4: Uh?
- 13:25Speaker 3: I think you? Yeah, did you.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Play the seniors and the super seniors?
- 13:28Speaker 1: The seniors and super seniors super Seniors is sixty and over,
- 13:32Speaker 1: sixty and over and fifteen over. You played in both,
- 13:34Speaker 1: and you played in both senior events, And did you
- 13:37Speaker 1: play any other tournaments?
- 13:38Speaker 3: Had you do any cash You played a.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Couple of daily things the tag team. We almost almost cashed,
- 13:41Speaker 4: but we were we were so card dead.
- 13:43Speaker 5: It really would have been It really would have been difficult.
- 13:45Speaker 5: And I'm not going to go over a couple of
- 13:46Speaker 5: hands that I was proud of because there's no reason to.
- 13:48Speaker 5: But yeah, I know I thought about the game in
- 13:50Speaker 5: a much better way, and my bet sizing was much
- 13:52Speaker 5: more appropriate because I did some work on it.
- 13:54Speaker 1: That's his question. Are you playing in cash games.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Or just tournaments?
- 14:00Speaker 4: Just I just played some tournaments, just in tournaments and
- 14:02Speaker 4: then walked around with my shirt off. That's what I did.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Alan, How old? How old are you? Sixty sixty eight
- 14:08Speaker 3: and August sixty eight? In August?
- 14:09Speaker 4: That's crazy, man.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I can't get but yet, I want to
- 14:13Speaker 1: just tell you something. When Alan goes to restaurants like you, yeah,
- 14:17Speaker 1: he definitely partakes in the good desserts. Yes, yeah, if
- 14:21Speaker 1: it's a while, if it's a good we went to
- 14:23Speaker 1: some we we pop.
- 14:25Speaker 5: We could bog house, we could pog in and uh
- 14:28Speaker 5: we can watch we could yeah, watch old road.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Alan had two desserts.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Oh no, that was the Ocean House.
- 14:33Speaker 3: It was Ocean House. He's are really great restaurants right
- 14:36Speaker 3: on the water.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Gorgeous, very good, old old school old you know, been
- 14:40Speaker 1: there thirty seconds away from the Ocean House.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Okay, really good.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Uh, David Allison, big fan of ours, big fan of
- 14:46Speaker 1: the show, thank you for our comments to David.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Is Boston doing college hoops this year? Too early? Uh?
- 14:53Speaker 5: Probably will probably will after I need need the money.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Like that's that's here a successful year last year, mark?
- 15:01Speaker 4: Yeah, but it was, it was.
- 15:02Speaker 3: It was.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't want we don't need to go into
- 15:05Speaker 5: certain people named Goose.
- 15:07Speaker 3: And other okay, endeavors.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I was doing someone a favor and didn't expect
- 15:12Speaker 5: anything from it.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, someone was betting.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Uh was supposedly betting games with him for him and
- 15:20Speaker 1: uh wind up stiffening at the end or not showing up, not.
- 15:23Speaker 5: Even answering it actually really amazing anyway, Yeah the next guy,
- 15:26Speaker 5: I deserve it, big hater.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Hope summer is being good to all you guys, Keep
- 15:29Speaker 1: killing grateful always, Thank you, big hater.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Uh I thought I heard the word hater, like yeah.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Big, big big, big, big hater.
- 15:38Speaker 4: I was like, what the hell Bill move?
- 15:41Speaker 1: This guy's a fan's been around a long time. Tell Alan,
- 15:43Speaker 1: you're gonna know this more than me. Tell Alan, thanks
- 15:46Speaker 1: for Joan Fonseca Verse oh joke joke of jo Yeah,
- 15:52Speaker 1: oh he.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Could win Wimbledon.
- 15:53Speaker 3: He was amazing today.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Play was play was nice cash first off? And second,
- 15:58Speaker 1: what did he Alan? I'm gonna give you the question here.
- 16:01Speaker 1: These are the names I don't know, so there you
- 16:02Speaker 1: can maybe read the question. Okay, that question right now.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Tell Alan thanks for y'all von secer Vers, Nobak, Joevic.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Play was nice cash first off? And second what did
- 16:10Speaker 5: he see? Figure in his reasoning? Uh yeah it's yao,
- 16:14Speaker 5: not Joan Yao for him at the time, like always
- 16:17Speaker 5: thank you for what you guys do. Uh yeah, it's
- 16:22Speaker 5: it's so I I wing it. And and when I
- 16:26Speaker 5: watched Fansaka play, I watched him as a junior, you
- 16:28Speaker 5: knew he was going to be a killer. And now
- 16:29Speaker 5: he's bigger and stronger, and Djokovic is definitely on the decline.
- 16:35Speaker 5: He's all time greatest player. That that's for sure.
- 16:38Speaker 4: I don't think anyone can argue that.
- 16:40Speaker 5: And he still maintains a high level at his age
- 16:43Speaker 5: thirty nine.
- 16:43Speaker 3: It's just crazy.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Uh, but Fonsega is this young gun who just murders
- 16:49Speaker 5: the ball and was murdering the ball with better margin
- 16:52Speaker 5: than he had.
- 16:53Speaker 4: He plays with a lot of intelligence.
- 16:55Speaker 5: He's got a really good team behind him that that's
- 16:57Speaker 5: not rushing anything. Uh, They've really handled this kid very
- 17:02Speaker 5: very well. And uh, it was clear to me it
- 17:05Speaker 5: was a pretty even match and the only thing that
- 17:07Speaker 5: probably would have stopped Front's Sacre from winning was choking
- 17:11Speaker 5: and the line was just too high. Yeah, so you
- 17:15Speaker 5: know Fan's Sakeah, visually to me, was the better player
- 17:17Speaker 5: and should not have been an underdog.
- 17:19Speaker 4: That's that's it. I can't. I don't use stats.
- 17:22Speaker 5: I don't I just use I just watch and wing
- 17:25Speaker 5: it and hope that my logical mind can can work
- 17:29Speaker 5: it out, which is why sometimes I actually play Norman
- 17:31Speaker 5: at holding them at a pretty high level, because sometimes
- 17:33Speaker 5: I logic things out and and do things. And this
- 17:36Speaker 5: is what my friend, who a different friend who also
- 17:39Speaker 5: kills it, says, what you do is you you take
- 17:41Speaker 5: unusual lines. But an unusual line to everyone else is
- 17:45Speaker 5: just what my brain says to do. He says, but
- 17:47Speaker 5: when you do that, you put people in really really
- 17:49Speaker 5: tough spots that that that they're not used to. And
- 17:51Speaker 5: when you know, obviously, when you make people uncomfortable, they
- 17:54Speaker 5: sometimes make mistakes.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Anyway, Joe free To been around a long time. Reload
- 18:00Speaker 1: sports been around one hundred years. Like they said, like we, uh,
- 18:03Speaker 1: does Alan have any thoughts on the World Series of
- 18:05Speaker 1: Poker so far? Seven Cards stud? Now, why don't you
- 18:09Speaker 1: play in any of the seven card stunt events?
- 18:12Speaker 3: What is that? So?
- 18:13Speaker 5: This is my pat that I got at my fiftieth
- 18:16Speaker 5: high school reunion.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Oh?
- 18:17Speaker 3: Nice?
- 18:17Speaker 5: The fiftieth high school reunion went on during the fifteen
- 18:22Speaker 5: K stud. Oh okay, and I had someone who's going
- 18:24Speaker 5: to back me in the ten k stud.
- 18:26Speaker 3: But okay, you know I.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Have one fiftie high school reunion and sure they do
- 18:29Speaker 5: you like come out to the to the shithole and
- 18:31Speaker 5: you know, and play poker?
- 18:32Speaker 3: Would you play? Would would you? Were you? You would
- 18:35Speaker 3: play in the stud events? Of course?
- 18:37Speaker 1: Do you play the live stud games in in mohe
- 18:39Speaker 1: at Foxwoods?
- 18:40Speaker 3: Yes?
- 18:42Speaker 5: Oh, you've done occasion and I'll probably do a little
- 18:43Speaker 5: more of it when I get home.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Okay, probably awesome.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Some shout outs here Brad Sport to Richard Populos. Uh,
- 18:52Speaker 1: these guys are big fans. Well you know they're one
- 18:54Speaker 1: of the one that comes out. You guys will say.
- 18:56Speaker 1: We'll have notes. Happy fourth to July to you guys.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Also Alan, any recent this is from Xena Zena. She's
- 19:04Speaker 1: been around a long time, this this girl.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Uh.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Any wild gamble any recent wild gambling stories?
- 19:10Speaker 3: I don't know, do you have any? Yeah? I got
- 19:11Speaker 3: bann from O'Hagan for that's officially. Oh that that's do
- 19:16Speaker 3: you talk to your host already?
- 19:17Speaker 5: I haven't talked to anybody, but my friend got my
- 19:19Speaker 5: friend who got banned, who, by the way, doesn't know
- 19:21Speaker 5: anything about swaw machines.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Uh.
- 19:25Speaker 4: I know a little bit, but not much like and
- 19:27Speaker 4: and I do it for the fun of it. I'm
- 19:28Speaker 4: not I'm not there.
- 19:29Speaker 5: I go there for an hour, you know occasionally, and
- 19:32Speaker 5: on Sunday my friend comes up and we hang out.
- 19:33Speaker 4: We just play and bully be you know, when we're not.
- 19:39Speaker 5: We don't figure to win, but we we ran good
- 19:42Speaker 5: and and Mohegan.
- 19:46Speaker 1: And by the way, Mohegan, we love we love Mohegan
- 19:48Speaker 1: Son John his dad's final show was there.
- 19:51Speaker 4: The place is spectacle. We're not allowed in the building anymore.
- 19:55Speaker 3: You just not.
- 19:56Speaker 5: I'll get a letter in the mail, and you know,
- 19:58Speaker 5: I'll appeal it and explain to them. Actually how I
- 20:00Speaker 5: approach slots. You know, whatever is the most highest numbers,
- 20:03Speaker 5: we pick a game. Whoever has the highest numbers, we
- 20:04Speaker 5: play it. I mean, that's just logical. Whatever has the
- 20:07Speaker 5: highest jackpop, we'll go for it.
- 20:10Speaker 1: John, what he's saying like a big progressive, Like, hold
- 20:12Speaker 1: it not a big progressive.
- 20:13Speaker 3: He's saying.
- 20:14Speaker 1: If there's four of the same games, each has an
- 20:16Speaker 1: individual progressive, sure, you know, and one is you know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: two thousand, four hundred dollars, the next one's five thousand,
- 20:23Speaker 1: the next one's ninety six hundred.
- 20:24Speaker 3: It's the same as that game.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Sure hundred. Or if we want to play the wolf
- 20:29Speaker 4: Front Begabucks machine.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Well why put the tally there if you're not trying
- 20:33Speaker 2: to attract.
- 20:34Speaker 4: But no, that's all we do. And you know, the
- 20:35Speaker 4: Wolfrone Begabucks game.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Whatever adds up to the highest number, you know, we
- 20:38Speaker 5: pick a denomination and we play it. It's there's no right,
- 20:42Speaker 5: there's no math behind what we're doing. But I'm I'm
- 20:46Speaker 5: both surprised and disappointed because I have a lot of
- 20:48Speaker 5: comp dollars there and uh, that's not a wild gambling story,
- 20:52Speaker 5: but that's.
- 20:52Speaker 4: What you know.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Where where they started publicizing these advantage slot players who've
- 20:56Speaker 5: been around for one hundred years.
- 20:57Speaker 6: His books on them. Now are they they've over in
- 21:01Speaker 6: this case, they overreacted. They threw out two good customers
- 21:04Speaker 6: and and and I heard they throw out others. I
- 21:06Speaker 6: don't know who they were, but you know what, you
- 21:08Speaker 6: can see who the advantage players are.
- 21:10Speaker 5: They go around and push buttons on machines. Yeah, checkers,
- 21:14Speaker 5: check them, check them, and then they don't sit down
- 21:16Speaker 5: and play. We go to a machine. We look and
- 21:18Speaker 5: see his eyes when we sit down and play. There's
- 21:19Speaker 5: a big difference between checking forour machines and leaving and
- 21:23Speaker 5: checking form machines.
- 21:24Speaker 4: And sitting down and playing something.
- 21:26Speaker 5: It's yeah, because we just decide which game we're gonna
- 21:28Speaker 5: play and pick the Highers numbers and do it.
- 21:30Speaker 3: But oh well, and it's it's really is. Uh.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I've went through some things with getting thrown out of
- 21:36Speaker 1: a casino, getting walked to the door, and I was
- 21:40Speaker 1: trespassed from Terribles back years ago because all I did
- 21:43Speaker 1: was bring in and I'll just like my little bag.
- 21:45Speaker 1: And they said I was teaching blackjack cart counting. I'd
- 21:48Speaker 1: love to say I was doing that. I'd love to
- 21:50Speaker 1: have a smart enough to do that. Absolutely not what
- 21:52Speaker 1: I was doing.
- 21:53Speaker 5: Uh.
- 21:54Speaker 1: The players had a ten percent rebate where they you
- 21:57Speaker 1: walk in and you get temper if you lose a
- 21:59Speaker 1: thousand dollars in morning, ten percent back at the cash here.
- 22:01Speaker 1: So there's a strategy to doing that. Of course, you
- 22:04Speaker 1: go up and play one hand one, you know, one
- 22:07Speaker 1: to five hundred dollars hands a blackjack, hopefully win the
- 22:10Speaker 1: first one.
- 22:10Speaker 3: You leave.
- 22:11Speaker 1: If you lose them both, go get your hundred dollars
- 22:13Speaker 1: back and then you start over.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Markw They have way the best of it, the way
- 22:16Speaker 3: the best of it, and they stay a promotion and
- 22:17Speaker 3: they threw me out for it. And uh they stay promotion.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Now why they thrown you out? They invited you to
- 22:22Speaker 4: do it.
- 22:23Speaker 3: You did it. They were signed there.
- 22:24Speaker 1: They want people to grind down for hours and the
- 22:27Speaker 1: big to overcome, which I guess I get that a
- 22:30Speaker 1: little bit.
- 22:31Speaker 3: But it's funny that I just seen you.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Well, someone asked me to ask Alan if he's doing
- 22:37Speaker 1: any steroids or is it natural?
- 22:38Speaker 3: I think it's natural, all right.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I take this style and prescribe to sauce one.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Prescribe anyone, as you seem takes that.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Who doesn't take the sasterone is cheating themselves. How about
- 22:49Speaker 4: any peptides? Have you tried any of that?
- 22:52Speaker 5: Most of that is bullshit. I wouldn't do it anyway,
- 22:55Speaker 5: but most of it's bullshit. Most of it's just, uh,
- 22:57Speaker 5: you know your training and you get bigger.
- 23:00Speaker 4: And let me ask you.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I'm shooting tests now, like here with the insulin needle,
- 23:05Speaker 2: I go on my shoulder.
- 23:06Speaker 4: You go on the shoulder with the longer needle or
- 23:08Speaker 4: the are you.
- 23:09Speaker 3: No longer needles?
- 23:10Speaker 2: No, no long needles anymore, because now they've no they've
- 23:12Speaker 2: like the new science or whatever is you can use
- 23:14Speaker 2: the like.
- 23:15Speaker 5: The Yeah, I use twenty eight inch, okay, twenty eight
- 23:18Speaker 5: twenty engage twenty engage half inch.
- 23:20Speaker 4: I think it is five eighths inch. I just point
- 23:23Speaker 4: point four mls twice a week. I'm on the you know.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Yeah, but they say that the twelve hundred is a
- 23:28Speaker 5: better level than nine hundred now and they'll take it.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Testosterone late in life is actually good.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Not bad.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Yeah, there's all kinds of stuies. Yeah, it's maybe the
- 23:35Speaker 4: studies of bullshit.
- 23:36Speaker 5: I don't know, but yeah, it's helped with my arthritis.
- 23:39Speaker 5: And well it's kind we're feeling well. I mean I
- 23:42Speaker 5: I don't. I try hard. My diet is pretty to.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Go to the gym every day, but I.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Haven't died in four days. Diets, yeah, I don't.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I don't.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Yeah, abs, I eat diet. I eat dessert.
- 23:55Speaker 5: If I'm at a nice restaurant with crack, that's right,
- 23:58Speaker 5: that's my dessert.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Speaking of its twins, Oh, I don't all the I
- 24:04Speaker 4: don't eat bread.
- 24:05Speaker 3: I don't eat dairy.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't have any special diet.
- 24:10Speaker 1: But can you do Italian? We went to a carbone. No,
- 24:14Speaker 1: you can't really do Italian.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Then we have to leave you home.
- 24:17Speaker 3: It's gonna steak steakhouse. Yeah.
- 24:20Speaker 4: The smell of cheese can can get me sick? Yeah,
- 24:22Speaker 4: really literally. Yeah, it's awful and it's not psychosomatic. Yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 5: I had chicken and apple chicken and apples one night,
- 24:30Speaker 5: took one bite and ran to the bathroom.
- 24:31Speaker 4: And this is a place in Maine that that knew
- 24:34Speaker 4: me very well.
- 24:35Speaker 3: And I said, I.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Said there had to be something they had to be
- 24:39Speaker 5: it's chicken and apples, so I said there had to
- 24:41Speaker 5: be something in there that that.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Yeah, they'd sprink a little pomesan on it. I had
- 24:44Speaker 4: no idea. One bite and I was off to the races.
- 24:47Speaker 5: Oh and and and if I didn't get If I
- 24:50Speaker 5: don't get the bathroom at time, I might have been
- 24:52Speaker 5: up in the hospital.
- 24:52Speaker 4: It's really, it's really bad what happens.
- 24:55Speaker 5: So I just avoid It's I'm so crazy about it
- 24:58Speaker 5: that I went to uh uh Crossroads, which is a
- 25:02Speaker 5: vegan restaurant Resorting World.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Resorts World. We have a fantastic casino by the way,
- 25:07Speaker 4: Ravis Parker owns it or something.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:09Speaker 4: Oh really, So I ordered some dish and had the
- 25:12Speaker 4: fake moncerella on it. Yeah, I couldn't eat it. Really.
- 25:15Speaker 5: I was petrified, even though I know it's not sure
- 25:18Speaker 5: sure you know. And the guys, like my friend who
- 25:20Speaker 5: I was with, is like laughing at me. He said, yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 5: he's a meddal case. I said, yeah, I am, like,
- 25:23Speaker 5: I'm not arguing with it. I said, please, can you Yeah? Well,
- 25:26Speaker 5: I have no wild gambling.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Stories, but to me, that's pretty wild.
- 25:29Speaker 5: Getting thrown out of a Casino for being an advantage
- 25:32Speaker 5: slot player when I'm some old old guy who comes
- 25:34Speaker 5: there for an hour a few times a week, like.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Well, that's not the case though that I love the building.
- 25:39Speaker 5: I don't think that's the way advantage slot players operate.
- 25:43Speaker 5: I think they mostly put a lot of hours in
- 25:45Speaker 5: and because you couldn't do it the way I do it,
- 25:47Speaker 5: and and and make earn a living.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Yeah, you got to put hours in.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Mark I, Marcus Brunello, we've had on the show. Marcus
- 25:55Speaker 1: had the masters, the slot, the master's tickets.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Yep.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Uh, he's got a big business there. In AUGUSTA, Marcus
- 26:02Speaker 1: asked a question for ab who is your favorite gamblers
- 26:06Speaker 1: plural of all time? So you know, in general, I'm
- 26:10Speaker 1: sure one would be mister Walters, But have any other
- 26:13Speaker 1: gamblers like any Is there any poker players you really
- 26:16Speaker 1: like or any.
- 26:17Speaker 4: I'm a big fan of Mickey Appleman.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Oh, Mickey Appleman, great guy.
- 26:22Speaker 3: So yeah.
- 26:23Speaker 5: Mickey Applain once described the World Series of Poker. I
- 26:25Speaker 5: always remember this as a convention of gamblers. And that's
- 26:28Speaker 5: back in the day when they didn't rake the tournaments,
- 26:31Speaker 5: and and you know, it went on for two weeks
- 26:33Speaker 5: and the same people would reconvene. You literally would know
- 26:36Speaker 5: if someone was the first time there because you.
- 26:38Speaker 4: Just knew everybody.
- 26:39Speaker 3: It was a different world.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Don't get me wrong. It's not the Greek Fest. It's
- 26:42Speaker 5: become now. Sorry, that's what it is.
- 26:46Speaker 1: And John, just to let you know, maybe I should
- 26:47Speaker 1: give a shot to the guys. This is Mickey Appleman.
- 26:50Speaker 3: He was. He was a.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Great poker player back in the day. He played just
- 26:55Speaker 1: great gambler, right, Alan, not just poker.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Yeah, he.
- 26:59Speaker 5: Was one of the original killers of college hoops college oops.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Mickey Appleman, shout out to him.
- 27:05Speaker 4: He's a really really I was that really smart guy,
- 27:07Speaker 4: really intimidable person in.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Twenty years ago. I was intimidated by Mickey Appleman.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I called Alan and said, Allan, Mickey Appleman's at my table.
- 27:15Speaker 3: I'd love to talk to him. And he goes, just
- 27:16Speaker 3: ask him. He's a quote. Mickey said, just come on, Bill,
- 27:19Speaker 3: walk away from the table. We'll talk for a while.
- 27:21Speaker 1: He sat me down in a dead game and it's like,
- 27:23Speaker 1: I'm an open book. Tell me just what a nice man?
- 27:25Speaker 4: So yeah, that would be uh, that would be uh.
- 27:28Speaker 5: I don't really know a lot of gamblers like and
- 27:30Speaker 5: the one my favorite guy passed away years ago.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Oscar Uh old school gambler. Oh yeah, to the core.
- 27:39Speaker 4: He's the one that introduced me to craps.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Oh, real gambler, I think, yeah.
- 27:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I told that story. I played craps in Rodney
- 27:46Speaker 4: Danger Peel.
- 27:46Speaker 5: Right.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Oh, I love Rodney too, you know that's just yeah Rodney,
- 27:50Speaker 1: we're with Casino, mgm, MGM okay, yeah, that's where he
- 27:55Speaker 1: performed all the time.
- 27:56Speaker 5: He was about ten dollars a hand, smoking a cigarette.
- 27:59Speaker 5: My roommate was thrown a big hand. He was rolling forever.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Uh, he's thrown eleven on the come out.
- 28:04Speaker 5: I was at the max five thousand on the line
- 28:07Speaker 5: and I picked up a brown chip and I turned
- 28:09Speaker 5: and looked at the two people there as Rodney and
- 28:12Speaker 5: his wife. I said, strange, some people actually want to
- 28:15Speaker 5: do stand up commodator in a living And Rodney laughed
- 28:18Speaker 5: and his wife whispered in my ear.
- 28:19Speaker 3: He never laughs, like, wow, yeah, that was good.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a good good.
- 28:24Speaker 1: But as far as any of the any of the
- 28:26Speaker 1: old poker players, and do you have any respect for
- 28:28Speaker 1: any of the guys that even passed away or anything,
- 28:30Speaker 1: you know, anything respect.
- 28:31Speaker 4: For respect as a poker player, Hucks seed seed, Yeah
- 28:34Speaker 4: he's the best.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Did he win the main event? Yeah? Yeah, at some
- 28:37Speaker 3: point he's the best.
- 28:39Speaker 2: He's completely nuts, but you know, a lot of walking
- 28:42Speaker 2: around a few weeks really yeah, maybe month ago.
- 28:46Speaker 5: He was at the same table as my as my
- 28:48Speaker 5: friend who finished thirteenth in the main event a few
- 28:50Speaker 5: years ago.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I was.
- 28:51Speaker 5: I was the guy's coach, like, oh, you know, I'm
- 28:53Speaker 5: not good at the game. I got a lot better
- 28:55Speaker 5: because I I did do a lot of work on
- 28:56Speaker 5: it this this past six months. Uh and uh yeah,
- 29:02Speaker 5: Huck was at his table. I said, well, Tom Bosses
- 29:03Speaker 5: says a wad Huck and I maybe may have played
- 29:07Speaker 5: one of the all time great seven cards stud hands.
- 29:09Speaker 4: And again I won't, I won't get into it.
- 29:10Speaker 3: But he is, he is.
- 29:13Speaker 4: He's an amazing poker player. He went to cal Tech.
- 29:16Speaker 3: I mean he's brilliant obviously. Okay, I didn't even know that.
- 29:19Speaker 4: Okay, cool, yeah, Alan what and all the old all
- 29:22Speaker 4: the old school stud players. I love them all, even
- 29:24Speaker 4: though it's just it was just a different world.
- 29:27Speaker 3: You know.
- 29:29Speaker 5: I can't stand these kids now who think you have to,
- 29:31Speaker 5: you know, pause for like fifteen seconds every hand because
- 29:34Speaker 5: you don't want to give anything away. Like someone's sitting
- 29:36Speaker 5: there with a fucking stop watch. Oh my god, possible
- 29:38Speaker 5: fourteen seconds. That must mean something like give me a break. Like, yeah,
- 29:42Speaker 5: you know, computers are are very useful, but they're also
- 29:46Speaker 5: going to be the end of the world.
- 29:47Speaker 4: So we're losing our humanity at a rapid rate.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Alan, both of us, know, all three of us, I'm saying.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'm saying, both of you guys. Both of you guys
- 29:56Speaker 1: know Frankie down on Myrtle Beach. Yeah, Like there's a character,
- 30:00Speaker 1: one of the last characters, true pure gambler characters.
- 30:04Speaker 3: What why aren't there any more characters?
- 30:07Speaker 4: Like part of it?
- 30:08Speaker 5: Well, I mean society is constantly changing, right, I'm not
- 30:11Speaker 5: going to get into an anthropology course here, but a
- 30:14Speaker 5: lot of what's happened, and again, this is the libertarian
- 30:16Speaker 5: to me, is in the back.
- 30:18Speaker 4: In those days, people had a lot more free money.
- 30:21Speaker 5: When you have free, more free money to do stuff with,
- 30:25Speaker 5: you'll be more willing to gamble. So gambling, even though
- 30:29Speaker 5: it was it was under the hood, it was a
- 30:32Speaker 5: lot more relevant because people had more money to do
- 30:34Speaker 5: it with. When you have more money to do it
- 30:36Speaker 5: with and you're just a stone You're just being a
- 30:39Speaker 5: stone cold gambler. There's no nothing to study. Back then,
- 30:42Speaker 5: we had no computers, you know, we didn't have these
- 30:44Speaker 5: robots who come in and you know and know, you
- 30:47Speaker 5: know every you know that you're supposed to blop thirty
- 30:51Speaker 5: percent of the time or whatever it is, and you know,
- 30:54Speaker 5: no every that sizing that that's proper in every situation
- 30:59Speaker 5: that didn't exist.
- 30:59Speaker 4: People well just gambled. And when you have.
- 31:02Speaker 5: A and I think the people who were willing to
- 31:06Speaker 5: gamble back then, they were doing it because they were
- 31:09Speaker 5: just gamblers, and gamblers were more likely to be one
- 31:14Speaker 5: of these character types where now they study the games,
- 31:20Speaker 5: they build models for sports. They're more computer nerdy types
- 31:25Speaker 5: and though they are not characters. So I think it's
- 31:28Speaker 5: evolved in that way, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
- 31:30Speaker 4: I mean, you're trying to win, right, you try, you
- 31:32Speaker 4: do whatever you can to win. That's what I think.
- 31:35Speaker 3: You know, the government.
- 31:37Speaker 5: Taking more and more of our money, which is irrefutable
- 31:41Speaker 5: and wasting it has diminished the playing field somewhat. Even
- 31:46Speaker 5: though it seems bigger, I would argue it probably isn't
- 31:50Speaker 5: the fields for poker have gotten bigger, but the gamblers,
- 31:52Speaker 5: I think, percentage wise, are probably shrunk. Uh, which which
- 31:56Speaker 5: people are gonna say, what are you fuck fucking moron?
- 31:59Speaker 4: Of course they haven't. But it was all on to
- 32:01Speaker 4: the table back then.
- 32:03Speaker 5: Right right, bookmakers had you know, when you call the
- 32:05Speaker 5: bookmaker on the phone, they had huge, huge, huge numbers
- 32:09Speaker 5: of people betting right.
- 32:10Speaker 4: And there were millions of book makers back then. Uh,
- 32:15Speaker 4: you know, and and and.
- 32:17Speaker 5: It's it just it just wasn't as you know, we
- 32:20Speaker 5: have social media now, so everything is known. Back then,
- 32:23Speaker 5: nothing was known. Like, no one taught you anything. I
- 32:26Speaker 5: learned by playing. So that's by off the top of
- 32:30Speaker 5: my head, my quick theory as to why the characters
- 32:33Speaker 5: are are are diminishing.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Okay, I want to ask a question about, uh, someone
- 32:40Speaker 1: we had on the show. We've had many poker players
- 32:42Speaker 1: on the show. We've had Helmets, Matisaw, Daniel o'grennell, We've
- 32:45Speaker 1: had these guys on the show years ago. When you
- 32:47Speaker 1: lived in town, you knew all these guys.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Of course.
- 32:50Speaker 1: And Mike Madisow he puts some things recently on Twitter
- 32:55Speaker 1: that said, it's so sad to watch people and and
- 32:57Speaker 1: and and and people that I went after him and uh,
- 33:00Speaker 1: he was just trying to put some comments on Twitter,
- 33:03Speaker 1: and boy, people really went after Mike Madisow recently.
- 33:06Speaker 3: What and just just under round himity, I like Mike.
- 33:09Speaker 4: Mike's got a heart of gold.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's what I wanted to say. What you're in,
- 33:12Speaker 3: you you've.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Had, He's got a heart of gold.
- 33:14Speaker 5: I don't think he's I don't think he's very good
- 33:16Speaker 5: at poker, but but he's got a heart of go.
- 33:19Speaker 1: So was he just around at the right time at
- 33:20Speaker 1: the right place, or he was probably in place, right time,
- 33:23Speaker 1: right time at place he's.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Probably he might be better than I think.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Uh.
- 33:28Speaker 5: And back in when no woman hold him was was booming.
- 33:33Speaker 4: I had never played a hand in my life, and
- 33:34Speaker 4: I won every day.
- 33:35Speaker 3: You know.
- 33:35Speaker 5: It just just I had a higher IQ than than
- 33:38Speaker 5: most of the table, Like like, I'm not bragging, that's
- 33:40Speaker 5: just fact. Uh.
- 33:43Speaker 4: So, you know Mike had had he was good enough
- 33:46Speaker 4: to win back then. I doubt he could win now.
- 33:51Speaker 5: But he's a sweetheart of a person and he's well intended,
- 33:54Speaker 5: and you know that's what matters more, right, Yeah, No,
- 33:57Speaker 5: I just yeah, he probably had something stupid about poker.
- 34:01Speaker 3: I want to read, he said.
- 34:02Speaker 1: He said, I played poker professionally for thirty years, and honestly,
- 34:05Speaker 1: this is truly the most painful five weeks of my
- 34:07Speaker 1: poker career. It's not even about the beats. It's about
- 34:10Speaker 1: being dealt out every single day. And when I finally
- 34:13Speaker 1: get dealt in one of ten tournaments, I get, I
- 34:15Speaker 1: get fucked. I've never blinded out so many days in
- 34:18Speaker 1: my life. Go to YouTube if you want to see
- 34:20Speaker 1: and see and and and see my pain. So he's
- 34:22Speaker 1: talking about running bad for five weeks.
- 34:24Speaker 4: Oh that's not running bad.
- 34:26Speaker 3: So that that and.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Then they just came after him and droves the game
- 34:29Speaker 1: passed you by. You're never really good playing and they
- 34:32Speaker 1: really really mean me, real mean spirited.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Yeah, well, I mean, you know, people came after us
- 34:37Speaker 5: for there were there were there was a couple of
- 34:40Speaker 5: comments that I that I read that I.
- 34:41Speaker 4: Couldn't believe that I was wrong. I was wrong about
- 34:44Speaker 4: the uh uh some game.
- 34:49Speaker 5: I think, Oh yeah, Wayne Lewis Georgia, right, yeah, Lois
- 34:54Speaker 5: one by fifty.
- 34:54Speaker 4: I was really wrong about my logic, right right.
- 34:57Speaker 5: And there was another game resmu right said they were
- 34:59Speaker 5: overrated and they got they got blasted.
- 35:00Speaker 4: To like, so you know, at least wait till I
- 35:03Speaker 4: lose to make.
- 35:04Speaker 3: The comment, right, I'm going to win both.
- 35:05Speaker 4: Yeah, the one guy actually know something?
- 35:07Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, all right, listen, this is uh, this has
- 35:13Speaker 1: been great.
- 35:13Speaker 3: And what's your next plans? Now?
- 35:14Speaker 1: What do you what's your the rest of your trip
- 35:16Speaker 1: going to look like? What are you doing?
- 35:18Speaker 5: I'm leaving unless one of your friends wants to put
- 35:20Speaker 5: ten thousand dollars in the main do you have?
- 35:24Speaker 3: But but is there?
- 35:25Speaker 1: Oh, the two hundred and fifty dollars tournament which John
- 35:27Speaker 1: loves to play at night.
- 35:29Speaker 3: They've had some the one PM they had they had.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Forty five grand last night, forty five grand last night.
- 35:36Speaker 4: I played that.
- 35:37Speaker 5: I played that yesterday in two days, but I cashed
- 35:39Speaker 5: the first two days and okay, got an ace queen
- 35:41Speaker 5: against h Jack to have a decent stack.
- 35:44Speaker 1: So you've been playing some of them, you thro the values?
- 35:45Speaker 1: Okay there even though they're the bigger rake, It's okay.
- 35:48Speaker 5: It's an amazing tournament. Table was at yesterday. It was
- 35:50Speaker 5: actually fairly tough bill.
- 35:52Speaker 2: For the record, I came in seventy six last night
- 35:54Speaker 2: and the Robin.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Preston, But who cares whatever.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Okay, well you got you got a triple your money.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and you were that that's your speed though
- 36:03Speaker 1: you're you're playing with.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Those little guys there. He says, it's really good value
- 36:07Speaker 3: though it is a player.
- 36:08Speaker 4: It is a great tournament. Yeah, it's yeah, it is
- 36:11Speaker 4: what it is. I think i'ms a crapshoot at some point.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Yeah, and maybe too early on h And one thing
- 36:15Speaker 5: just that the prior guest talked about like he was
- 36:18Speaker 5: right that most of the kids that were caught up
- 36:21Speaker 5: in the gambling thing. By the way, I was the
- 36:23Speaker 5: one person who said legalized gambling was going to cause
- 36:25Speaker 5: a lot more problems than good.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Yes, yeah I did.
- 36:29Speaker 4: I did say that.
- 36:30Speaker 5: And and and you're saying why uh, although I don't
- 36:33Speaker 5: think it's a problem. If you, I mean, you want
- 36:35Speaker 5: to rob DraftKings a fan, by all means, do it.
- 36:38Speaker 4: But I do have I do have my reservations.
- 36:43Speaker 5: About how bad the gambling is in college basketball.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Number one, I couldn't win if it was that bad.
- 36:51Speaker 5: And and number two, getting down in Mississippi Valley State
- 36:55Speaker 5: when you're handing a player twenty five grand is is
- 36:59Speaker 5: not sustainable. It means you need some multi whale DraftKings accounts,
- 37:06Speaker 5: and I don't know what they would take on some
- 37:07Speaker 5: extra game that that the biggest books might take five.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Hundred on, right, So I'm not so sure.
- 37:14Speaker 5: Like you haven't heard a thing about it since it
- 37:16Speaker 5: all went down, right, nothing's been said. And again I
- 37:20Speaker 5: think a lot of it is BS and I think
- 37:22Speaker 5: a lot of it is there's a company that makes
- 37:26Speaker 5: their money by monitoring the integrity of college basketball, which
- 37:31Speaker 5: is kind of a complete fucking joke since it's there's
- 37:35Speaker 5: always corruption when you go behind closed doors.
- 37:39Speaker 4: But they have to have a reason to exist, sort.
- 37:42Speaker 5: Of like the FBI, who you know, you know, plots
- 37:46Speaker 5: nonsense and then arrest the people that they involved in it.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Like the surveillance you said in the casino that may
- 37:51Speaker 1: have been thrown people out of, you know, the Mohiggan Sun.
- 37:53Speaker 3: They have to prove that, oh I look what I
- 37:55Speaker 3: look what we did? It might well, they couldn't prove
- 37:57Speaker 3: that I did anything wrong.
- 37:58Speaker 4: So it's some AI model I think that they use.
- 38:01Speaker 5: That I was winning my friend, I asked all the friend,
- 38:04Speaker 5: I said, what what happened? And he reads up on
- 38:07Speaker 5: this stuff and he thinks that I won on the
- 38:12Speaker 5: the ap games they know about at a higher rate
- 38:14Speaker 5: than than made sense.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Oh okay, and.
- 38:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I hit the mega on Buffalo Megabucks, like you
- 38:25Speaker 5: hit that once in your lifetime.
- 38:26Speaker 3: What's it like? Twelve grand?
- 38:27Speaker 4: I think I got five.
- 38:29Speaker 5: I also hit the grand on the Duck game, which
- 38:31Speaker 5: I like to play for eleven to nine. Okay, Yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 5: I'm gonna win. When you hit one of these mega jackpots,
- 38:38Speaker 5: You're gonna win. Like the whole thing is just bizarro
- 38:40Speaker 5: and really disappointing. My mother loves staying there. And yeah,
- 38:44Speaker 5: it's it's the worst news I got since I've been
- 38:47Speaker 5: out here. And also I I've had my money in
- 38:49Speaker 5: as a three to one favorite minimum and lost all
- 38:52Speaker 5: four times in all four tournaments. That's how I went
- 38:54Speaker 5: out as a three to one favorite enough, and that's brutal.
- 38:57Speaker 3: It's it's true.
- 38:58Speaker 1: So then Dennis is just to answer your question, because
- 39:01Speaker 1: you I didn't ask Alan a question about I'll read
- 39:03Speaker 1: it to you.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Now.
- 39:04Speaker 1: You have to love Alan, especially the numbers the slash
- 39:06Speaker 1: sports guy. Do him a favor and steer him away
- 39:09Speaker 1: from the slots. Alan Wilson is proof positive the allure
- 39:13Speaker 1: of slots is powerful. The guy knew the math for
- 39:15Speaker 1: parlays on sides, but he drops seven to thirteen percent
- 39:19Speaker 1: with every push of the button. Now that's what Dennis said.
- 39:21Speaker 1: He's a fan of the show, but he doesn't realize everything. So,
- 39:24Speaker 1: but you see what happens. I mean, they're actually I'm
- 39:26Speaker 1: not I'm not.
- 39:27Speaker 4: I'm not gambling that big machines.
- 39:29Speaker 5: It's it's I hang out with my buddy every Sunday
- 39:31Speaker 5: and we have dinner and it's it's enjoyable. So it's
- 39:34Speaker 5: like going to the movies and spending you know, fifty
- 39:36Speaker 5: dollars on a ticket and popcorn and whatever ech you have. So, yeah,
- 39:40Speaker 5: I don't have a I haven't. I haven't touched the
- 39:42Speaker 5: slow machines. I've been out here like I haven't. I
- 39:45Speaker 5: don't have a slot problem. Let me ask Pagan has
- 39:48Speaker 5: a slot problem.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Let me let me finish with this.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Now, college football season, you do you bet on college football?
- 39:55Speaker 3: You used to used to. That's how I started, That's
- 39:57Speaker 3: why you started.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so, but we could still do so shows with
- 40:01Speaker 1: Q and A, with Alan Boston.
- 40:02Speaker 3: You can start them back up.
- 40:03Speaker 4: I've never said no to a show.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll start him back up.
- 40:05Speaker 1: College football season and just to go back and forth,
- 40:09Speaker 1: even with some NFL things, and just see what Alan does.
- 40:11Speaker 1: What's his week's like. Let's hope he gets back in
- 40:14Speaker 1: mohiggan Son. You officially don't know if you're out yet.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I am out.
- 40:18Speaker 3: No, I do know that.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I got the same letter that my buddy got.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Oh you did.
- 40:22Speaker 5: And he talked to his host. So his host said,
- 40:24Speaker 5: you know, I'm really sorry it happened. It came from elsewhere.
- 40:26Speaker 1: And you know what's the worst thing, guys about this.
- 40:28Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you a little little secret with things.
- 40:31Speaker 1: If you have any points built up, you don't build
- 40:34Speaker 1: them up, take them, get If you have points built
- 40:37Speaker 1: up on your card, use them, don't save them for something.
- 40:39Speaker 5: I had eighty one hundred points and I ordered a
- 40:41Speaker 5: Rowex and I was gonna use the points to buy
- 40:43Speaker 5: the roll, sell it.
- 40:44Speaker 3: You know, hardness to build up eighty one hundred points. Yeah,
- 40:47Speaker 3: oh forget it. So now I'm sure those points are confiscated.
- 40:51Speaker 4: The probably I haven't talked to him yet. If they
- 40:53Speaker 4: reinstate me maybe back, I don't.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Know, but yeah, well we'll see what happened anyway. Yeah,
- 40:58Speaker 3: and guys, let's put up ten k here I am
- 41:01Speaker 3: here he is. All right, guys, we'll see it. We'll
- 41:03Speaker 3: see you next week on Wahcracks.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Thanks to Allen, Thanks to the World Series of Poker,
- 41:07Speaker 1: Thanks to John for Thanks for the guy with the
- 41:10Speaker 1: ten thousand.
- 41:10Speaker 3: All right, see you guys. Good deal.
